26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Was a 3 customer for 4 years... HAd problems with reception so I was being sent a new sim card from vodafone to help.
waited 2 weeks for said sim card... it never arrived... during this time my iphone broke and I was due an upgrade so i call vodafone and ask to have an upgrade shipped with the new sim card... 6 weeks later I get my new phone and activate my new sim card... it took 9 weeks for the sim card to port over from 3 to Vodafone and they charged me for both sim cards.

Now that im with vodafone I am experiencing WORSE coverage next to no 3g coverage... i dont even bother to using anything 3g anymore... I was given a $15 credit for 3 months for my troubles...

3g service is horrible, delayed text messages, bad coverage & constant outages. Internet on the iPhone only works early in the morning or late at night in between peak hours, when it works it's comparable to dial up speeds. Out of 10 I wouldn't even give Vodafone 1.

When I complained to Vodaphone staff in Brisbane that the reception was extremely poor the staff member suggested that it was because I live near the sea.
Dear Me! And I thought our land was girt by sea!
26 Feb 2012 03:11:11 PM: I was in the Queen Street Mall asking 2 out of the 4 Vodafone stores (within a 100 metres of each other)about the reception.
Plenty of sales and no usable network reception.
One store I stopped at had 1 bar and no towers.
One guy from one store said he has cancelled many contracts due to no reception.
One young woman at a store straight across the mall(less than 10 meters away)said all of the Vodafone employees at her store have Vodafone connections and NONE of them have any reception problems.
I told her she was full of public relations drivell! (AKA) crap!
(She would do well in Mumbai)

20950 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is The worst organisation I have EVER dealt with at 24 Feb 2012 02:28:09 PM
Due to shocking coverage, I cancelled my mobile plan with Vodafone. I still had a Vodafone Wireless Mobile Internet.

I cancelled that too on 18 Jan but have still been billed $39 for Jan & Feb. They said they put in a 'request' to cancel it but it did not go through.

When I finally get put through to the Dept that can cancel and refund... they hang up on me

Easily the worst organisation I have ever dealt with. Forgetting the coverage issues, they cant even cancel an account that is out of contract and stop charging me

I have been having problems with my vodafail reception for months now and was told in January that the issues in my area would be fixed in April, but after having my 4th phone call drop out for THE LAST HOUR I called vodafail and have now been told that it will be fixed by...wait for it.....JULY! After telling the guy on the phone that it wasn't good enough and I would be leaving their network for a rival network (I have been a customer of vodafail for almost 10 years now)I was told by the guy that I will be back as they have had people leave and come back, to this I laughed, wished him well and hung up!

20943 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shocking at 23 Feb 2012 04:03:08 PM
Usual shocking reception, data speeds, SMS send failures, voicemail etc. called Vodafone & on hold to india for 50 mins. Told them I wanted to leave. Was offered 4 months to stay. Since I only had 4 months left on my contract, I thought "what the hell?". I'd keep my handset, then I can move to Telstra. Cool!!

Next month, I got a bill! Odd I thought as I have 4 months free. Rang Voda. Told no record of it. Assured it would be applied. Same thing next month. 45 mins on hold, only for call to drop out. Again, regular as clockwork, my bill came again now over $300!! Threatened with service restriction. By this stage I was over talking to Vodafones "service" centre in India.

Out of the blue got a call from the Tasmanian call centre doing a random "customer satisfaction" survey. Told her the issues and she told me a retention team member would be in touch. 2 weeks later, Indian team member called. Had no idea what was going on, was only told to call me.

I hung up. Lodged a complaint with the TIO. Thats supposed to STOP all collection action etc. what the hell, it's only a government regulation right??? So woke up one day & my phone is barred!!!

Called ombudsman & was given direct line to their TIO liaison team (they're Australians who speak English as a first language thank the Lord!!). Had restrictions lifted, my 4 months credited and I'm finally getting what Vodafone promised e over 4 months previously!!

Now, I'm off to Telstra to go with them and actually get reception & the service I pay for! Good to get the result from Vodafone, but it's just not good enough. You've lost my business FOR LIFE!!!

20933 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is How long is a piece of string at 22 Feb 2012 01:34:06 PM
Im not in a "mess" anymore, I am porting back to Telstra and will enjoy 4G. This is my recent experience. I live at Bondi Beach and have been with VodaFAIL for nearly 4 years. I rue the day I ported from Telstra. Back in Septemeber last year, I decided to get on a data plan for my iPad with vodafone(they don't even deserve capitalization of their rubbish brand!) Immediately I was noticing heavy 'shaping' of data-flow. It was so bad I had a cry to voda about it. They subsequently gave me 3 months free access. Well, month #4 I knew that the data flow for internet was below dial-up speed and paid 1 month and told them I wasn't interested in a data plan that meant my browser couldn't even find a server because of the 'shaping'. Fast forward to Jan. Since I had my ipad, I repetitiously ran a speedtest to see just how bad it was. ( I kept the logs!)

How can you expect data-flow when it is 'shaped' to be slower than dial-up? This is absolutely nowhere in the T&C that I would be subjected to 'shaping' in the largest city in Australia. There are times I get a D/L speed of 0.10KB/s and U/P at half that again.
Well, to cut a long story short, I went to Telstra today to return back to the service I KNOW is better and more reliable. All I ever got from vodaFAIL were spiels about "network issues", which is just rubbish. vodaFAIL are still using old 3 network that was substandard to begin with.
I thought I'd pay vodaFAIL the courtesy of ringing them and giving them the opportunity to release me from my last 4 months because they were interested in good customer service. Well, I just finished with someone in vodaFAIL, they offered me a 50% discount on the remainder of my plan. As you may assume, I am not going to pay them another cent. vodaFAIL have a bad reputation for a very good reason...THEY EARNED IT THEMSELVES. I will await the demand letters, the bad credit rating for defaulting on the contract, and then I will see vodaFAIL in the CTTT, bring all my own evidence that THEY have breached our contractual agreement by service failure unrelated to "network outage" of network issues".

The ONLY issue is, that vodaFAIL just won't do what they need to do to correct how someone in a city of millions cannot even get Google to load and receives "remote server not found". I'm no techno-geek, but I am also far from being uneducated with relation to shaping. The same applies for an understaning of The Trade Practices Act, Fair Trading and how the ACCC have already hauled vodaFAIL over the coals over handset warranty.

To YOU vodafone, you can kiss my arse and I look forward to nothing more than embarrassing you in front of a Registrar with your crappy history of disgruntled(rightfully so!) and dissatisfied customers. I wouldn't recomment vodaFAIL to a third world country, as the country would derserve better than dealing with vodaDOLTS that have no grasp of The Trade Practices Act in Australia.

Me V's vodfone?
Yeah, dream on vodaFAIL. I did my research well

Vodafone travellers services for overseas travellers is supposed to provide a fixed price cover for phones while going overseas. There is even a special iPhone plan, which should reasonably include iPhone functionality i.e. emails, messages and phone calls. However, should you be normal enough to use emails and other services, other than calls, they'll suck you dry for all the money they can despite your traveller coverage. Howz that for deceptive marketing ? I'd love to throw the vodafone management who think up these slimy money-grabbing tricks down a shitter and seal the top.

3G reception is ridiculous. Sometimes great reception, most of the time no reception or too slow. This is in the south, north and the CBD. I thought the networks upgrades would help? It is like they have limited 3g slots on each tower and cycle their customers from 3g to edge.... Will be moving to telstra ASAP

The campaign would also highlight Vodafone's global network with presence across 72 countries

The pug first appeared in 2003 in TV,print and outdoor commercials of erstwhile Hutch mobile services, which were later acquired by British telecom giant Vodafone.

At my desk, on level 8 of a building on Kent st, I struggle with reception for both voice and data. One minute its working, the other it's not. Its bipolar.

Im not the only one. My colleagues who are also on Vodafone suffer from the crap reception. Advice given to everyone in our building is to move to Telstra as they have no reception issues whatsoever.

20922 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 21 Feb 2012 12:12:16 PM
I am with 3 mobile, who are essentially Vodafone. In a supposably 3G comparable area, I stand out the front of my house, on a clear day, during low peak times and will barely get one bar and usually will roam with frequent drop outs. This is right in the middle of suburban Canberra. My wife had similar problems with Vodafone. Switched to Telstra and has not had a single issue.
24 Feb 2012 01:40:27 AM: This is a 3 problem, not a Vodafone problem. 3's network and vodafone's network are still separate at the moment as 3 has a 50/50 stakehold in its 3G network with Optus. So whatever problems you are experiencing is not due to the Vodafone network because it runs separately from 3. Plus if you have poor reception issues on 3, switch your phone to roaming and use Telstra's network, just make sure you don't use the Internet.

Complaints about Vodafone to the Telecommunications Ombudsman (TIO) reached record highs following significant problems with the network in 2010.

What are 3G networks for? The data feed is so slow but most of all Vodafail can't even get the time right. The standard says that you can set your phone off the network time. And you can except the time is wrong. You ring up and complain and they tell you there is no problem.

It may not seem like much except it will make you miss your train or be late for your appointment.
21 Feb 2012 10:46:06 AM: It should be no problem to get the time right. Clock synchronisation programs have been around for ages and do a fantastic job.

What's so hard about fixing this, getting it right once and letting it stay right?

Vodafone don't even do daylight savings changeover properly!

20902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Charging AUD 2000 after cancelling service via Vodafone network guarantee at 19 Feb 2012 06:54:08 AM
Hi, I have purchased 3 Vodafone subscriptions on the 13th of Jan that I cancelled (all) on the 29th, as Vodafone could not provide me usable network even in Brisbane CBD. (Actually the Vodafone network experience is the worst in my life, even if compared to mobile networks in Africa)

I returned all devices in their original condition to a Vodafone store where I got a form statin that I cancelled the contract via their Network Guarantee.

yesterday evening I almost died when I saw their AUD 2000 invoice with early termination fees... and they will charge this onto my credit card, there is no way to block it.

I feel this is pure theft - if advertising a guarantee that is not applied at all is tolerated in Australia then the legal system here is a joke...

Customer service obviously does not help, they always have different excuses, they seem to be creative...but I am not against the idea to go to the Vodafone shop with a huge poster on my back with this story for 1-2 weekend days (let's see how many customers the will lose if I do this)
19 Feb 2012 09:28:29 AM: the legal system is a complete joke - the ACMA are asleep at the wheel.
19 Feb 2012 11:11:45 AM: To the OP, you need to take this matter direct to the TIO.

It is an inexcusable state of affairs and $2000 is a huge amount to pay.

VF will have 10 working days to respond to your TIO complaint, they should come to the party, if not escalate again to the TIO using your original TIO reference number.

Simply not good enough by any stretch of the imagination.

TIO contact details at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
19 Feb 2012 11:34:41 AM: To the OP,
take the bill, and the network guarantee form into a store show it them and they will do everything they can to fix it. Clearly its just somethign in their system that fucked up or wasnt applied properly. and what do you mean there is no way to block it, get them to delete your credit card details from their system before they charge it your credit card.
to the first commenter the ACMA is a government body, the legal system is the courts.
19 Feb 2012 02:51:12 PM: To the poster above:
The OP clearly stated in their post:

I returned all devices in their original condition to a Vodafone store where I got a form statin that I cancelled the contract via their Network Guarantee.

So the store staff perhaps did not do everything they can to fix it, otherwise the OP would not have been invoiced for $2000......hardly rocket science........is it?
19 Feb 2012 03:03:32 PM: or the staff did everything they can (sending the completed form to the team that handles the network guarantee claims) and it was either processed improperly, or some box wasnt checked. i doubt the staff just lazily didnt submit it, or someone tried to just forget it and hope the OP didnt notice the $2000. what im saying is that people on this site act as if the VF staff are malicious. They are just doing their jobs
19 Feb 2012 03:43:48 PM: @19 Feb 2012 03:03:32 PM: So we agree then, somebody (not the customer) stuffed up and did not properly do their job, by either not properly processing the form to the network team or not checking some box........hardly a sign of data entry or quality control.
You are the first person to use the word malicious on this thread and the coup de grace you say they are just doing their jobs......seems to me they need more training to do the job correctly otherwise the OP would not be left with a worrying $2000 invoice!
Or am I missing something here?
20 Feb 2012 07:44:41 PM: I have contacted Vodafone, they asked 48 hours to sort this out... Let's see, but time is ticking. On Wednesday at 10 a.m. I will submit my complaint to the TIO...
21 Feb 2012 03:13:34 PM: Issue solved now, total claims are now 0$. Most efficient way was to write onto their Facebook wall - they reacted to that immediately and effectively! Good luck for everyone and thanks for the advice!
21 Feb 2012 07:39:44 PM: Result!!!!

I hope...............

20901 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unlocking my mobile phone at 19 Feb 2012 06:08:32 AM
I purchased my phone outright a few years ago. I do not have a contract ( never signed one)with Vodafone. I am a pre-paid customer. The coverage is pathetic so i decided to move to another provider. However, it is taking the staff of Vodafone 8+ days to unlock my phone. I am still waiting. It says on the Vodafone website it is easy to unlock if you purchased a phone at vodafone and it takes 10-15 mins to unlock on the internet. Well i am still waiting after 8 days. I have phoned several times (staff in India cannot solve my problem too)and I have gone to the store in penrith three tmes( place of purchase)to discuss my problem. The unlocking code is invalid and no one is taking responsibility to solve the problem. Their motto "we are listening", it seems that NO ONE is listening to me. On Saturday 18 feb 2012, I spoke to the manager of the penrith store who has taken all my details. I am now awaiting a response from her on Monday 20th feb. Vodafone is now holding my mobile phone hostage because the support team cannot unlock my phone. I am a 53 yrs old woman and I believe that if i have a breakdown or flat while driving, Vodafone is responsible for my safety because I cannot call triple zero for a tyre change. HELP!!!
19 Feb 2012 11:20:04 AM: I feel your pain.

You will have to wait until Monday for action, if any, by VF.

If of any comfort you are not alone in getting your phone unlocked, there have been several users posting here with the same problem.

It may be that no-one in VF can assist you in this matter, in which case you may need to look to purchase an unlocked phone from elsewhere.

19 Feb 2012 01:15:05 PM: Its all well and good (by that i mean potentially justified, albeit often offensive) for the moderators here to say that the company has unsatisfactory coverage, a frustrating customer service line (lara) and troubles with the call centre (not that i find any call centre particularly helpful). But to imply that the staff in the stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent is ridiculous. In my experience (in launceston, melbourne, sydney, brisbane, Hobart and multiple stores in many other cities) the store staff members are just as helpful as in any other retail store (or telco for that matter)
19 Feb 2012 02:37:23 PM: Huh?
Where did you gather those little nuggets from? Surely it can't be the mods post above?
I find the mods posts to be fair and just, suggesting that VFail be given the chance to correct the issue and then if the issue persists to take the issue further.
I do not see the mods post contain anything about unsatisfactory cover, Lara, the call centre, nor any implication (no matter how much I look) that stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent!
Are you making this up as you go along........oh and what time does the store open tomorrow?
19 Feb 2012 02:39:59 PM: You're name would'nt be Nigel by any chance, and hold a high ranking position in a certain recalcitrant Telco would it?
20 Feb 2012 09:03:36 AM: @19 Feb 2012 01:15:05 PM
In my experience the staff in the Melbourne stores are compeltely incompetent and only concern themselves with new sales - they don't care if the phone they signed you up for 5 minutes ago is broken - that's your problem. They are as useless as the rest of the company.

having said this, i'm sure it's not the people themselves' fault, it's the fault of the company for not resourcing them or caring about post-sale service. the staff in stores only get paid to sell sell sell..... so who can blame them for not giving a rat's about the customers once they've signed you up.
20 Feb 2012 06:53:30 PM: haha the staff in stores dont get paid to sell. My whole experience as a VF sales rep was geared towards post sale service, thats half the reasons the stores and the staff are there. its also why they dont get paid only on commission
21 Feb 2012 10:09:20 AM: haha the staff in stores dont get paid to sell - really?
My whole experience as a VF sales rep - oh so you did sell, judging by your work title.
My whole experience as a VF sales rep was geared towards post sale service - now you have confirmed you did sell
thats half the reasons the stores and the staff are there - what's the other half of the reasons? To sell new phones perhaps or is it to look pretty in the stores?
its also why they dont get paid only on commission - so they do get commission?

More holes than a sieve.

20900 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Painfully slow mobile broadband in Leichhardt NSW 2040 at 18 Feb 2012 09:05:55 PM
Live in Leichhardt NSW 2040, close to parramatta road, (near lewisham/petersham) - a main road subject to sydney's peak hour congestion, about 7 km from Sydney CBD. During peak hour mobile Internet / phone Internet will barely connect. Outside of these times I usually get 4 to 10 kb/ s download. once at 3am I got close to 180kb/s when I thought I would skype family overseas. I was strongly encouraged by my 3 provider to move to vodafone as the new network would have enhanced coverage and a better experience. Well actually it is a hundreds of times worse - and this is 3 we are talking about.

I know they are talking about upgrading sydney's inner west in march 2012, but what I would like to know what are decent benchmarks. What should I expect during peak traffic times and off peak traffic times? I would even be happy with 200 to 500 kb/s. All well and good that they tell me all will be better after the upgrade - but what is the realistic line in the sand that I would be justified in knowing that I was being taken for a ride and made the biggest fool of.

Fingers crossed, maybe the capacity in our area will be smartly increased and I will be enjoying 1to2 MB/s by april. Until then I will be enjoying the same speeds of my 14.1 dial up modem which I had in 1990s, while using Netscape. Oh what memories - can see the star spin around that N with lightning speed and hear that electronic symphony as the modem connected. If only my wifi 2 could do the same.....
19 Feb 2012 11:26:41 AM: Have you reported the lack of speed to VF?

If so what did they say?

Are you prepared to wait until an upgrade is complete?

Personally I would not wait, why should you pay for a non-existent service?

If you are prepared to wait, fine and hopefully there may be an improvement in the service, if not then report the matter to VF, let VF do their investigations with resolution. If still no better take the matter to the TIO.

An alternative provider that can deliver a service may be your only answer.

18 Feb 2012 07:07:45 PM: lol normal?
clearly something f***ed up in their systems and the guy wasnt placed in a que. Normal? i have waited for an hour and a half (and i know thats no the longest wait time) to speak to the vodafone call centre but i have also waited 4 hours to speak to virgin, 2 hours to speak to telstra, 3 hours to speak to singapore airlines, 2 hours to speak to optus. All call centres have long wait times sometimes.
This whole site confuses me, most of the crap people complain about i have experienced just as often on telstra and optus than i have on vodafone, seems to me like people just want to bitch and moan.
18 Feb 2012 10:39:50 PM: seems to me like the whole industry's fucked and Vodafail are just the dregs of the dregs.

20889 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major failure at 16 Feb 2012 08:54:49 PM
Dont believe what you read about towers going up in your area. You can prove this yourself by downloading on Android an app that tells you the cell ID in your area. I have driven around the Gold Coast and discovered that my phone will pickup a tower and lock into that tower. I can drive a radius of 15klm of that tower before it switches over to another tower. Now this is where it gets interesting, sometimes when I dial a landline number I get a recording saying the number is incomplete, once I add the area code it connects. I recently broke down and contacted RACQ, only to have the RACQ tell me that there system shows I called from NSW, I was a good 20klm from the NSW border, which would also explain why I had to put an area code into a local number. So how can Vodafone state that they have towers everywhere, if I'm accessing tower in another state. Even stranger, I drive over the Gold Coast everyday for work, and I never see anyone working on a tower, or building one. Maybe they have one tower that covers 5 to 10 suburbs, but state on their site as individual towers, to give the impression they have heaps of towers. This could explain why my Android App only reads a handful of towers for the whole of the Gold Coast. If so this is why we have dropouts, no data, bad reception. Maybe their only increasing the capacity to handle more calls on a handful of towers.

20882 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Totally Dishonest at 16 Feb 2012 01:23:57 PM
Voicemail notifications are not arriving until maybe 2 or 3 people hours or days later leave a message.
I have complained to vodafone for almost 2 years due to sms problems and I keep hearing backing, fixed in a month, fixed in 3 months, fixed shortly etc etc.
They keep blaming coverage, yet their coverage maps show supposedly fantastic 3G coverage.
I think that after 2 years of the same problem not being fixed clearly shows that vodafone are not interested in fixing it and their 'apologies' are worthless. Come on ACCC and ACMA - how can you let this company continue to get away with blatantly selling something that is not what it is purported to be. They have even made public apologies on the network issues that are clearly related to congestion, yet they continue to add more customers. This is totally irresponsible and greedy.

20879 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Irrationally Stupid! at 16 Feb 2012 07:59:04 AM
My office is in Erskine Park (Sydney's West).

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I never had trouble with phone calls here. Data has never been great, but I understand that it's a little remote from heavily populated areas and so I'm not expecting blazing data speeds. Now, I'm lucky if my phone has 1 or 2 bars of cellular reception, and most of the time my iPhone says "SOS only" instead of showing signal strength.

Isn't Vodafone trying to IMPROVE their network instead of making it WORSE?!

Outgoing calls fail regularly, very often have to turn phone off and on again just to make a call.

I can accept the minor call dropout, but the data connection is so far and beyond, tested at the City central station at Sydney, 9k download and 4k upload (with full bar). sometime it wont even download any data. overall about 70 - 80% I getting no connection or very slow connect. So whoever out there got told by vodafone there is nothing wrong with they network, and maybe it is they sim card, it is certainly not. because in the M5 tunnel you can get about 1Mbps to 3Mbps+ or sometime 5Mbps connection. (tested). my guess is that Vodafone is shaping speed, can't see why you can get full bar connection and no getting any data. maybe they using the data for other customer who is on prepaid account??

20863 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Mega Dodgy Fail at 14 Feb 2012 02:45:30 PM
In Bunbury Western Australia. Vodafone service has degraded over recent years and despite constant promises and upgrades, the service does not improve.
I think that everytime Vodafail/Vodafone does an upgrade - necessary not only because of faulty systems, but also largely because I believe the network is over utilised/saturated, Vodafail/Vodafone promptly signs up more new customers and saturates the new infrastructure as well.

Problems regularly experienced:
1. One side of conversation drops out, and remains dropped out until call is terminated and re-initiated - THIS HAPPENS DAILY!!!!
2. Reception dropouts - How is it that they keep telling me how their network is increasing yet the reception doesn't?
3. Phone will often not ring and goes directly to messagebank. When I get the message, I look at the phone and see good signal strength.
4. Vodafone staff keep blaming the phone and denying problems with their service. "Turn off your phone for 10 minutes and then turn it back on. That fixes most problems." I have tried several phones, even had sim card replaced. After contacting other people using vodafone in the area - they experience the same type of problems.
5. 'High Speed' Internet is non existent. Very often there is insufficient coverage to get any internet ( even though the bars of reception might show full 5 bars signal) and just shows 'E' for emergency only for the internet. When there is internet, it is usually slow. I have a 1.5GB plan with Vodafone and can rarely use it. Hence I am lucky if I get over 100MB usage for the month.
6. Voicemail notifications often do not arrive and I am only notified that there is a message after 2 or 3 voicemail messages have been left, which could be hours or days.
7. I have made numerous complaints to vodafone and tried to be escalated to a senior technician or department that might be able to work with me to solve the problems (I am a technician) on their network. They end up denying a problem and I never get the opportunity to speak to a level of support really interested in addressing rectifying the underlying problem.
8. Vodafone are more interested in adding more customers than they are fixing the existing problems.
9. I lose business because of the problems with them.
14 Feb 2012 03:28:30 PM: I have all the above problems!!!!!

I mived house to Glendalough and both my wife and I had to switch carriers as there was no Vodafone reception in our house. Interestingly we switched to 3 (owned by vodafone but using telstra towers) and had great coverage in our house. After attempting to buy a new phone contract with 3 I was told that I had no choice but to switch to Vodafone if I wanted a new phone. No deal - Voda doesn't work in our house. So I've switched to Virgin and have a new phone and contract.

VODAFONE'S NEW NETWORK OF HORRORS

I am still checking the RECEPTION (bars) and towers in brisbane.
last week:

thurs 09/02/12 6-10am
fri 10/02/12 6-10am
sat 11/02/12 6-10am
sun 12/02/12 6-10am

My study showed MOST NO SERVICE/BAD RECEPTION/POOR RECEPTION by viewing the area'a or towers on my handset in these hours.

1.Between 10 minutes to the hour(worst)
2.On the hour to about 30 minutes past the hour each day.(worst)
The bars fluctuated between 1-5 bars whilst standing still.
The towers fluctuated from under the tower where I am at, to wild extremes to towers 12kms away.
It was wild fluctuation.

In this timeframe I counted about 100 times where my handset showed 1 bar and no towers.
100 times 2 bars and no towers
100 times 3 bars and no towers
100 times 4 bars and no towers
On many ocassions 0 bars and no towers
On many ocassions towers with many fluctuations 1-3 bars.

My conclusion is that any crap, that comes from mouths of the 1555 MUMBAI Vodafone NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, about how there is no reception problem, is just what it is .....CRAP!!!

I have to think ,is Vodafone removing the towers, one by one,not building them.

20836 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Voda/3 Reception Problems at 10 Feb 2012 03:04:57 PM
I used to laugh at my mates when they used to complain about reception issues with their voda handsets. I personally have been with Three since the days of Orange.

For the last 2 weeks I have been having really bad reception issues with my 3 handset. I have a Galaxy S2 (have tried another S2 with the same symptoms)and when I am in my office (Homebush, NSW) I have zero bars (no reception at all). Mind you I have been sitting in the same location for the last 4 years and have never had any issues.

At times when I do manage to get signal (while in my office), it might be 1-3 bars but it's always on roaming. I have also noticed when I am in open air and I get the 3G signal, it's still quite low. The signal strength hovers between 1-3 bars.

I was wondering if anyone is having similar issues?

20822 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very Failed at 9 Feb 2012 11:45:23 AM
Vodafone does not allow phone calls to South Sudan. I spoke with customer service who do not even seem to know what they are doing. Wrote to the Resolutions Centre who told me that Vodafone needs agreement with South Sudan before calls to that country are allowed. I asked if there are other countries that Vodafone does not have agreements with, the gave examples like Sierra Leone, Sao Tome, Afghanistan but it turns out, even without agreements, it is possible to make phone calls to these countries (for they even have calling rate to these countries) at perhaps higher calling rates! This all I needed; to be able to use my credit to call my family and friends in South Sudan, but the resolution department thinks the only way to resolve this issue is to kick me out of the network! They do not have calling rates to the country and do not even have the country code +211 in their system. Even on Vodafone global website, they still have Sudan as one country....basically, they believe South Sudan does not exist!
9 Feb 2012 05:25:50 PM: I'm a disgruntled v. done customer but I think they gave you a legitimate reason - it is not that they do not think that Sound Sudan exists, it is exactly as they told you ie. they do not have an agreement with South Sudan. How do you know that they didn't try? Maybe they did and South Sudan didn't want one....

I've been with Vodafail for about 21 months and have found the 3G network to be woeful and I live in Newtown (3 km from the city). I was waiting for my contract to end when I decided enough was enough and thought that $150 to end my contract was worth it. I knew when my contract ended but I wanted to call Vodafail to confirm. They wouldn't tell me when my contract was ending until I I told them why. When I did, I got siphoned off to someone else who offered me a new phone and some other freebies to which I answered, "I appreciate what you are offering but if the network is no good, what's the point of a new phone?". After hanging up, I got a phone call from them stating they would halve my bill for the remainder of my contract with no conditions.

While I appreciate this reasonable level of customer service, the truth is that you've blown it Vodafail. You've lost my trust and the trust of thousands of other customers. I will never go back and will never recommend you to anyone else. This is the price you pay for your spin and lies over the last 1-2 years. Fix your network and then maybe you might get some credibility back. But even then, I wont be back!
9 Feb 2012 05:27:35 PM: I agree - I've been to Newton in Sydney and every time I am there, there is little or no reception.

20819 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive Fail at 8 Feb 2012 10:12:10 PM
I am sick of the Vodafone network. My wife and I have both just purchased iPhones and have connected to the Vodafone network. We both have reception issues everywhere. I also use my phone for work and it is an absolute joke when customers cannot get through. I don't get voicemail until hours later. I cannot send text messages, I cannot send emails it is totally useless. In this day and age of technology this is an absolute joke. All I want to know is when will it be fixed or am I waiting my time waiting around?

20816 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DOING DELIBERATE RECEPTION INTERFERENCE at 8 Feb 2012 02:26:21 PM
I have studied the towers and reception bars on my handset for days now, around Brisbane, paying heavy attention to how the towers(area's) jump all over the place from one extreme to the other.

Within a minute, I could be under one tower,(5 bars)then shoot off to a tower,12 kms away with 1 bar, then the next, a tower 2kms away with(2 bars),then a tower 7kms away with 3 bars, then nothing,no tower no bars, then under the tower which I live (5 bars) then away to the tower 10kms away with (1 bar)......

This is all within one minute.
To take a study over 5 minutes this will get crazy!!!!

Easy to see why a Vodafone engineer takes days, weeks, and months to figure out nothing, when you ring Mumbai waiting for your answer.
Then have to ring again ,and again, and again.

SIMPLE!
Vodafone knows that they are stealing from you, because there is No Way In Hell Vodafone will supply an authorised Vodafone engineers report to any Austalian Authority.

It would get shot down in flames in any court!!!!!!!!!

VODAFONE,........ HAPPILY STEALING YOUR MONEY!
8 Feb 2012 04:03:57 PM: Exert from story from Sydney Morming Herald 25thJanuary 2012

Vodafone Hutchison Australia was born in June 2009, after Vodafone merged with '3' Hutchison.

VHA faces several financial challenges this year, including a potential $670-million bill to renew its 800-megahertz spectrum licence. It also has $3 billion worth of loans due in June 2013. VHA borrowed funds from 12 banks in June 2010 to repay loans of $1.25 billion from each parent company, and pay Vodafone a $500-million merger equalisation fee.

Vodafone needs your money, anyway they can get it.
BEG, BORROW, OR STEAL IT.
They may not have a Mobile Spectrum Licence this year.

a.government decides not to licence this absolute reckless telco.
b.Vodafone will not have the money to pay for the licence.
c.The ACCC will bring criminal charges against Vodafone executives.
d.All of the above

9 Feb 2012 01:57:45 PM: 'Exert from Delimiter'courtesy Renai Lemay 9th feb 2012

[For the six months to the middle of 2011, Vodafone revealed in August, it actually lost some 375,000 mobile customers, with the besieged mobile telco struggling to shake off poor customer sentiment stemming from its disastrous series of network outages in late 2010 and early 2011. Some 110,000 of those lost customers were due to a change in the way Vodafone reports its customer numbers, however.
...............................................................................
You know folks,.....some things never change.
The only thing, that Vodafone changes, is that it gets worse, and worse, and worse.
It's public relations stories get taller, and taller, and taller.
It's network and corparate behaviour gets lower, and lower, and lower.

20814 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME VODAFAIL at 8 Feb 2012 12:01:07 PM
i was on holidays in sunshine coast jan 2012 and was billed for roaming calls and data in a area where i could use a redbullmobile sim which is a reseller for vodafone and not have any data or roaming charges, lucky i purchased a redbull mobile sim card to use otherwise my bill would have been much much higher than the $110 i was charged for roaming, i have since stayed on redbull mobile paid the $365 for 365 days unlimited call to landlines 1800 1300 and mobiles, and 5G a month on data, and have paid out vodafone for the 3 months i had left on my contract. strange vodafone are charging 3 for areas that were never charged as roaming before and not roaming with redbull mobile. Seems like vodafone want to shut down the 3 network in a hurry.

20810 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is finally releasing me from the chains of my contract at 8 Feb 2012 09:47:58 AM
I'm lucky enough to be moving to an address with no vodafone coverage at all. So they've happily ended my contract with no cancellation fees.

My advice: get a post box (or use a friends') and change your mailing address to that.

Find an address on their coverage map with absolutely no signal and call them to change your residential address to that.

Then tell them you have no signal and would like to cancel your contract. They'll tell you they'll not charge you for your next 3 months if/because their planned upgrades are happening. After that they have no choice but to cancel your contract at no expense to you. (you will have to send your phone back though, so don't do this if you're only 6 months off away from paying off your phone)

If you check this page

http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail_network/a_id/3730

It looks like most of South QLD has network issues, and according to the report engineers are on the case. It does take some time to work out why the failure and then to rectify, suggest switching your phone off for around 10 secs, and then back every 30 mins or so..

There is not much else that you can do. Switching it off and on forces the SIM to recheck for network, if it gets resolved and you haven't, it may still appear that the network is unavailable.

20799 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is BIG FAT FAIL!! at 7 Feb 2012 05:32:14 PM
I was with 3 and joined Vodafone now that they have merged. I have been with them for 2 months now and have had nothing but trouble. When I received my phone in the mail it took 1 WEEK to port the number across to my new phone. In the past this has usually taken a few hrs max with other phone companies I have been with. Finally once my phone was up and working the service has been pretty crap. I was told reception would be the same as 3 but a beg to differ. Once I received my bill, it was incorrect. I rang and queried it and they said they would fix the issue but my next bill has come and it is exactly the same, still being overcharged. I rang them again and was told it would be fixed on the next bill. Lets see what happens when the next bill arrives. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.. and I still have 22 months and counting to go!! :( Cannot wait to get away from this company!!!! Service his shocking!!!

VODAFONE IS DISCONNECTING REDBULL DATA EVEN THOUGH REDBULL MOBILE IS USING VODAFONE NETWORK AS A RESELLER FOR VODAFONE, AFTER 7 DAYS OF DATA DISSAPEARING OFF THE NETWORK AND GETTING IT RESENT FROM REDBULL IT WOULD GET DISCONNECTED AGAIN OVERNIGHT, CHECK ON YOUR PHONE DO *#*#4636#*#* THEN GO TO THE PHONE INFO AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT TIME IT WAS DISCONNECTED, WOULD NEVER RSIGN ON A CONTRACT WITH VODAFONE AGAIN. PLUS YOU CANT MAKE FREE CALLS FROM VODAFONE TO REDBULL EVEN THOUGH ITS ON THE SAME NETWORK. JUST LEFT 3 AND OUT OF CONTRACT WAS PAYING $110 ON A 2 YEAR CONTRACT WHICH I CAN NOW GET FOR $39 A MONTH ON REDBULL MOBILE.

20794 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Huge Complete at 6 Feb 2012 09:31:57 PM
I have only just been sucked into the vortex of being transferred after 9 years with the company it took over.

My old modem was far more reliable and had a consistent speed for mobile broadband. The pocket wifi2 is so slow and the network is at a choke, first weekday peakday.

I want to know if I can get out.

My number was only ported on Sat 3 February and I was told that I would experience a significant difference when brought across to Vodafail.

I would really appreciate them actually doing what they promise after so many spruked emails claiming improvement, this is the pits.

My partner and I have been on 3mobile for some time now, so we could call each other for free and she could call her 3mobile friends for free. But all her friends changed to vodafone so yesterday she changed to Vodafone.
We had to do it in store at coles, because we couldn't get through on the phone. Even when we took up the "call back" option, we just went back on hold.
But the girl at Coles in chadstone was really helpful.
So anyway, today the phone(New iPhone 4s) has been charged and is working fine, but it doesn't prompt you to enter a password for wifi??? Mine always does!
So I turned wifi off and tried the same google search with each phone, on 3, my phone found results in 2-3 seconds... About 1.5 mins later, her phone popped-up as unable to connect to server!
I can call her from the next room, but the reception is worse than when I used to have a Nokia 5110 12 years ago!
I'm hoping there's a way out of this, because I can't imagine another 24 months of this rubbish!

20785 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme FAIL FAIL FAIL at 6 Feb 2012 03:26:21 PM
Vodaphone has reported a default to a credit reporting company! I changed my address with them and paid the final amount after reporting that despite telling there was coverage for internet from my unit, there was none, dropping out etc. They would not assist. I had to pay out the contract. I put the internet usb in a draw and never turned it on - ever. Yet, I was getting dataa usage charges for it at early hour times - when I was asleep. I complained each time and they said they would credit - they never did.

Paying the final bill, I find nearly 12 months later a default for a considerable sum on my credit rating. I have no correspondence, no debt collectors bill or phone calls from them pre-warning me that I owed them anything. I have contacted vodaphone to be passed between departments as they cand find no record of my account (it is closed and not showing) but they say there is a an outstanding amount when through to credit control. I have had to ring a credit agency who they say are handling the matter externally but when I called this company they said that the file is no longer in their hands. There is no record on their system of any of the calls I have made to sort out the situation and when trying to speak to someone who understands me and knows what they are doing, the call keeps dropping out and then I have to ring back and go through everything again. Conveniently, none of these calls are ever logged and you end up screaming! The last attempt to sort this issue out I spent 4.5 hours on the phone back and forth calling back etc! COnsequently, because they can send me any copies or information, I cannot rectify this sitution and I cannot clear it from my once impeccable credit rating which ultimtely affects my ability to obtain credit despite my assets and salary. I cannot get through to anyone to help me here nor can I go to a store to sort it out as I have nothing from them pertaining to this alleged outstanding debt. I have not received any mail from this stupid company in more than 14 months!!! I updated my details with them too - but they never seem to have records of anything!!! everytime I ring these muppets up, no one knows what I am taalking about and I get told different information each time. It is making me irate and it has severely affected my credit which is unacceptable. They are completely incompetent, lying cheats!!!
12 Feb 2012 11:41:39 PM:
17 Feb 2012 05:02:28 AM: Thank you! I have done this and waiting. Vodaphone have now referred it to a credit agency. Turns out vodaphone provided them with an address for me on the otherside of the country!!!! The account was opened in Perth but they some how found an old address for me in Victoria!!! Yet they have no record of the address I updated them with!! So they sending default letters to an address I hAvent lived at for years and never gave them and can't explain where they got it from ! So now we have a breach of privacy! This also went on the ombudsman's complaint ! The ombudsman's office were fantastic to deal with! This company is just plain dodgy! I'd like to know where they got my former address in a different state from And assume I live there!!! Furious! To make matters worse, trying to explain this, debt collector snapped at me, demanded payment (remember I have no paperwork from anyone- then hung up on me. Funny how they agency has my ph number yet no one from vodaphone has ever called !!!!
21 Feb 2012 02:58:14 PM: Based on this information you have grounds to contact Veda or whoever the CR agency is and DEMAND it be corrected. They'll try n tell you to contact VF but THEY have to to determibe if it was correctly listed. You are entitled to MAJOR compensation due you inability to access credit during this time. 20777 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely!!! at 5 Feb 2012 10:02:47 AM
Experience data drops regularly.
Emailed support and exclaimed I keep getting data drops when surfing net.
Responses were please give me 3 examples of sms or call drops in 48 hours... plus a massive list of questions which could literally track down Osama Bin Laden on the moon, yet they claim technicians need more information still.

Although I mentioned web browsing data drops and banged on about this, I supplied 3 network drops anyway. 2 weeks later and 8 replies back and forth with arguing, me talking about internet drops and she constantly saying she wants phone call information, the service person finally exclaims "she cannot help me, as she does not work with resolved data problems"

WOW! - Why could she not read my initial email content and decide that? What a waste of my life and money. Absolutely useless. READ MY COMPLAINT BEFORE SPINNING OFF YOUR STANDARD COPY+PASTE RESPONSES VODAFAIL.

* just thought I would add...

I needed to provide details within 48 hours. So, I collected data drops, times, suburb and posted them to the service rep. Now get this...

Vodafail did not respond to me in 48 hours after that response.... - So 55 hours later I get a responding email... I had to provide another set of examples because "I" provided details which was "outside the 48 hour window". Not to mention this data is claimed to be only needed because it makes it "faster" for the technicians. So I'm working and collecting data during work days to provide and easy day for the technicians... How rough!

It would be interesting and a nice concept for a company being paid to,

a) investigate on behalf of the customer - not have the customer do all the work

b) Read customer emails and understand their problem before copy+pasting your standard customer service respones.

c) Accept responsibility for answering late rather than blaming the customer for providing details outside a time frame

d) Have a complaint loding service that allows the customer to have some sort of investigating into their service in less than 2 weeks.

20764 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is lower than a goanna's bum at 2 Feb 2012 01:03:00 PM
Here is something I noticed about reception yesterday, which someone might have some idea on?
Whilst having a cool ale to cool down, I had used the handsets ability to tell me what 'TOWER' or 'CELL AREA' I was in.

(For those who dont know, many handsets display what area you are in, by way of sreet, area, suburb,or some notable building in your town or city.)

Well, as I sat perfectly still in the same chair,in a matter of 5 minutes I sliced through a dozen different CELLS or TOWERS and I did'nt move an inch.
Is this a process when one tower gets overloaded, you get pushed to the next one, and the next one,or is it a clever manouvre to kid you into believing that the VODAFAILED Network is working OK by showing you 5 bars on you mobile device?

The furtherest CELL AREA I got got was 4km away and this is a big major city with many towers every half blocks of the city.

Anyone got any answers on that one?
4 Feb 2012 12:20:04 PM: AAHHH!!! I studied it a bit further.
The CELL AREA or TOWERS now stretch out to 10km away(2 BARS) then the TOWER I am under(5 bars) then 12 km away(1 bar) then 7 km away(3 bars)
This happens many times each minute!!!!
WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THE THE WHOLE NETWORK IS SO SCREWED UP YOU ARE GETTING DROP OUT CALLS VERY OFTEN.

I have studied this for a few days now and the proof is there.
VODAFONE IS STEALING FROM ITS CUSTOMERS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER

20763 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone need to be sanctioned ASAP at 2 Feb 2012 10:38:19 AM
I have had my phoned (well im up to my 5th one now) for 18 months. Every since the phone was connected it has been a nightmare. The phone continuously drops mobile and internet coverages, texts dont send, I dont get voicemail notifications.....Im paying for NOTHING!

I originally had an iPhone 4 and after having the phoned swapped 4 times and after two complaints to the Ombudsman as Vodafone insisted it was a handset issues I got a new Samsung galaxy S2. SAME ISSUES ARE STILL HAPPENING.

The network is clearly sub-standard and has issues. Vodafone should be sanctioned by government and SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIGN UP ANY NEW CONNECTIONS until an investigation is undertaken into the problems with their inferior network.

Lets be honest, they pour millions of dollars into racing car sponsorship, advertising and other useless crap. That money is much better used in correcting their network problems.

Bring on August when I can port out, yay!

I have been living in this sydney inner west suburb for the last 10 months and there is almost no VF coverage in this place. I have complained them zillions of time and they promised to build new towers in my area by 15th december. Till then they have been giving me new promises every month, but they never solved the problems. These people are cheap morons and should burn in hell. Why doesn't the goverment take any action against these cheaters, what is the telecom authorities doing ? How can such a poor provider do business in a first world country ? I just want a escapre route from my contract with a huge penalty.
