26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

17395 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Three delayed missed calls at 27 Apr 2011 07:46:18 AM
I have reported 6 delayed "missed call" notifications to Three customer support. They requested the details within 24 - 48 hours, which I did. However 10 days later they told me they were unable to investigate my problem as they no longer have the information - 10 days later!!! I was then informed the problem will be closed regardless they have not been able to determine where in their network the problem is and therefore unresolved. I then received text messaages advising me my problem was being investigated and they will call me to discuss it. I received 3 messages and 3 calls over the next few days in which I was told the call will be closed. Three support is totally useless and incompetent - they can't even get their facts right let alone determine the cause and resolution to their problems. How can they expect to retain customers when this is the level of service they provide and avoid!!

17393 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is should have their telco license revoked at 27 Apr 2011 07:08:16 AM
it is high time we pressure our federal parliamentarians to introduce minimum service level legislation to telcos as condition of being allowed to operate and conduct business in this country. Vodafone and 3 are pathetic, and their problems are widespread and appear to be on-going.

Telecommunications is essential infrastructure on which business and the general public relies on in this day and age, and needs heavy regulation and stiff penalties when they fail to maintain a minimum standard of service. Taxi companies for example have minimum standards and service requirements imposed upon them. Dept.of.Transport monitors performance levels of each and every taxi company in terms of average pick-up times, and number of complaints. I know of two Australian taxi services who have been given notices to improve their level of service and driver training, or have their operating license terminated. One had that happen to, they were subsequently taken over by Cabcharge.
Privately owned bus companies servicing the public also have their performance levels assessed periodically, and if they consistently run late and provide ineffective levels of service to the public they serve, they are also reprimanded and brought into line. WHY NOT TELCOS ???

Back home in civilization, my cousin works at Ascom and does a lot of work with Swisscom. One of the reasons why coverage and network speeds are infinitely superior to the Aussie average is because of tough government legislation and controls. Feedback from senior management is if a telco attracted that many complains over there, and had that many problems, they'd be given notice and would be just a step away from having their telecommunications operating license revoked.

17392 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 'new' iphone not new and had 24 days of usage. at 27 Apr 2011 03:36:46 AM
I purchased a 'new' iphone 4 today from Vodafone, Randwick and upon inspecting the Iphone, the Usage Statistics displayed the phone was 24 days old and had cellular network usage! What a joke! Make sure you check your usage statistics upon new purchase. Vodafone now selling refurbished phones. Hopeless

27 Apr 2011 08:51:19 AM: why the fuck will you get an iphone on vodafail when you know what is going on
you bring it upon your self.

17391 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 27 Apr 2011 01:54:48 AM
Poor internet reception. Told can't do much about it as there are hills within the area. Gave up ages ago phoning them as knew not much would get done about it. The end of the 2 year contract is nigh and then it's bye bye. At least Telstra plans are a bit better now. If they had better ones before this contract, well that could be another story.

17390 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic fail x Epic proportions at 27 Apr 2011 12:41:12 AM
Oh, and other points:
- multiple times I've had to call the customer service line and waited at least 30mins each time. One time I waited 45mins, then an Indian woman answered and the line dropped. Furious does not come close to how I felt...
- I copied all my contacts and texts over to my new Desire HD. Then after issues with the phone, after advice from the Customer Service team I removed and replaced the sim, and subsequently all the messages I had sent and received were resent to all the recipients/senders. All 800+ texts. It happened again the following week. Vodafone didn't know how to fix it, and during the 35mins to talk to them hundreds of messages were being resent
- I live in Mosman Park, phone reception is generally ok but will drop sporadically when it's sat in the same place. Why??? Other times it just won't work, even in the CBD. I turn off then switch back on my phone which sometimes helps. A lot of farting around.
- Phone tethering is an exasperating affair.
Vodafone - SORT IT OUT

17389 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 27 Apr 2011 12:22:27 AM
Where do I start? Some calls don't even connect, and when I do get through some of them just drop out. But 3G? Well, I have never been so disgusted at such a poor service. It drops out every few minutes, without fail. I am fed up of having to click refresh numerous times, waiting for pictures to load, reloading pages it struggles to open, and being told I'm 40km from where I actually am. Oh, and every few hours I'm currently having to tell my phone what state I'm in so it can set the time properly.
The simple fact is: I am paying for a service that Vodafone is failing to provide. It is contravening it's contractual obligation, yet I have to pay. If I decided not to pay for this absent service, I would be blacklisted and my credit rating negatively affected for years. Vodafone need to a) sort themselves out and b) compensate us all for the loss of network and waste of our time. They have a hell of a lot to answer for.

17386 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I'm pretty unhappy with my home reception at 26 Apr 2011 11:25:21 PM
I have resorted to using my home wireless account when I'm at home because I have very poor 3G, G & H reception where I live. I only signed up with vodafone because I really wanted the HTC Desire HD, which was exclusive on a plan with either VHA or 3. My home locality is not covered by the recent or proposed upgrades and that is unfair. Sure, they're giving me a discount on my monthly bill for three months, but then what? The problem hasn't been fixed yet. I'm not happy!

17383 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Reception issues at 26 Apr 2011 10:58:07 PM
Me and my partner was with "3", (2x iPhone mobile packages). We have had nothing but problems ever since "3"/Vodafail merged. We are lucky to get 2 bars reception on both phones. We see Searching or Roaming more than anything. I phoned 3 customercare and was advised to reset my phones, upload the latest update on iTunes and it will work! Yeah right, so I called them back and complained, still couldn't resolve the issue. So today I really cracked it and demanded that both my mobile phone contracts end without me paying a cent" after a hour and half and the call dropping out, I was issued with ALL sorts of bonuses. 3 months free usage, unlock both phones, was even offered to go to Vodafail because "they" have much better reception on our street (the first time they admitted 3coverage was crap! All I demanded was both phones to end! Well after yelling and screaming my $1500 cancelation fees were dropped! And we keep the phones! And as a bonus I'm not paying for my "3" wireless modem for 6 months! ( strangely I haunt had a problem with that).
If you Demand and keep to it you can get this cancelled, frustrated that it took a hour and a half but the best phone call made yet! 3/Vodafail you are no good and I am now happier to pay that little bit extra and go with Telstra ! I have 4 other friends that are with Vodafail and guess what! They are experiencing the same problem and will be making the same phone call tomorrow.
6 May 2011 10:13:40 PM: Have just cracked the s%#ts with them for the umpteenth time in nearly a year and it looks like I'll be leaving them free of charge as the failed to disclose they have "coverage issues" in the area where I live, and as my home phone and internet are with Telstra, they will quite happily switch me over to them, upgrade my iPhone 3GS to and iPhone 4 AND give me $200.00 credit to help cover my newly merged bills!!! You did well without having to threaten to go to the TIO like I did before they started talking about cancelling my contract because of "lack of disclosure" BS!

I have a vodafone wireless modem, the usb modem and whenever I try to use internet, for few minutes pages load perfedtly and after few minutes the page just doesn't load and "web page cannot be loaded something like that message " keeps coming and even you refresh your browser pages does not load. Usually i have to disconnect and connect again and same thing repeats after and after. Useless bullshit, fraud. I am supposed to get good speed and continuous connection but to my frustration it is the same for months and months now. It is at granville nsw 2142 where vodafone is supposed to have good signal reception duh! I want my money back

While I tend not to have issues with coverage (other than in the black spot that is my house, but all telcos seem to have this problem). I do have a problem with the fact that I was not alerted to going over my cap or even coming close to it until it was $120 over. Hello $150 bill that a university student could only pay by asking Centrelink for an advance, I would've paid it off, but no doubt they would have charged some sort of interest on it or done something stupid like forget that I was on it and cut my service.

17371 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is unable to sms on 25.4.11 at 26 Apr 2011 10:16:23 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 31/2 years, and have put up with their failings, mainly because I detest telstra, a headless monster. My main issue is lack of coverage, living in regional SA. But there have been several occasions when I have gone for up to 4 days with no service and no customer satisfaction either.
30 Apr 2011 09:08:30 PM: If you live in regional SA then through no fault of Vodafone do you have no coverage. They would have advised you coverage could not be guaranteed in regional areas, and if they didn't then you should have researched your area with the tools they provide on the Vodafone site. You have already implied that Telstra has better coverage in your area, so agreeing to go with Vodafone only shows you agreed to take the risk with Vodafone's patchy regional service. If you don't like it, follow the albeit lengthy process and have yourself disconnected at not cost to yourself. Just be aware that they have to fulfill certain obligations of their own before they will release you free of charge.

17369 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic FAIL at 26 Apr 2011 10:06:06 PM
I sent a complaint via email to Vodaphone on Sunday afternoon regarding the issues that I was having with sending text messages. I tried calling as well but after being on hold for 40 mins I decided to give the web a shot.

Firstly, I did not have access to my laptop at the time so I logged on to Safari on my Iphone, typed in www.vodafone.com.au - this did not take me directly to their normal webpage but instead to some other vodafone site that I guess was made specifically for mobiles.... it was useless, at this point I didnt want to read about the latest football scores or what not, but there was nothing on this site about how to contact vodafone, there was also nothing on this site about the issue with the network... This was probably at around 4.00pm that I was looking at the site, an hour or something after the issue began. There was a small link down the bottom of the page that read 'full site' I clicked on it and it took me to the normal vodafone website. Whilst I was happy with this, I wasted a considerable amount of time trying to find the email function.

I sent an email asking what was happening and that I was sick of the constant issues that I was having with my network and asked for information about how to get out of my contract possibily without fees being incurred. I basically had a bit of a vent as well about how frustrating this company is to deal with.

I got an automated response that must have just picked out the part about wanting out of my contract. the information was useless to me and didn't really answer my enquiry, so I sent a response back saying that they had failed to answer my questions. About 5 mins later I received another email back that was basically from whoever the poor person was that was answering all of the emails that was basically a cut and paste spiel about yes, they have identified the issue and are in the process of resolving it..... Yet again they failed to answer my enquiries.... so I gave up.

when i complained to three about their network, they suggested i switch to vodafone as it had a better network. this is NOT the case at all.
i am fed up with both 3 and vodafone and will be paying out my contract early so that i can go with a decent telco.

17355 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is $12.7bn operating profit in 2009/10 but no reception in Perth Metro at 26 Apr 2011 09:15:33 PM
I purchased a Vodafone mobile on a 24 month plan, paying almost $100 a month. The coverage maps on their website showed I would have reception throughout metro Perth, including my home, my office and all other places I frequent. The phone is used for business purposes, however I barely have any reception in my office (IN THE PERTH CBD), have no reception at home (5mins from THE PERTH CBD) and no reception in probably 50% of metropolitan Perth.

It is extremely embarrasing when speaking to an important client, discussing business transactions sometimes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and having to call them back 3 or 4 times because the call drops out.

Considering they made $12.7bn operating profit last year, surely they can afford to provide an acceptable quality of service?

NOTE: I take no responsibility for the accuracy of any statements made on Vodafone's financial status.

17354 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Too many drop outs and no reception at 26 Apr 2011 09:14:18 PM
What annoys me is the fact that they can break the contract without a fine, but if we break the contract we have to pay. I have constant drops outs and no service, I am sick of talking to Lara (automated voice), and when I finally get to talk to someone, my phone drops out. As soon as my contract is up, I'm saying GOODBYE to Vodafail
27 Apr 2011 02:21:34 PM: How have they broken the contract though? Pretty sure there's no mention in the contract up providing 100% perfect service at all times. Hell no Telco offers that because they know it's not possible to provide that.

17353 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 26 Apr 2011 09:13:14 PM
I have been a Vodafone user for several years. Initially I made the switch because they offered more cost effective prepaid plans and it was the cheapest phone in the store at the time (It was a Vodafone Z28). For those years I had experienced few problems except occasional dropouts in reception, but I live in rural W.A. that is expected and once it happened during a major storm, again something that could be expected. However, fast forward to late 2010 early 2011 and I have several major issues occurring. Now I don't expect any technical system to not have occasional system failures, my IT friends tell me to expect it. They too are with Vodafone and think any serious system failure like those facing Vodafone are unacceptable. I find most concerning that for several years I had trouble free service with Vodafone, now it seems every month I have had at least one serious issue since December 2010. With regard to the latest failure I sent an email on the day (April 24 2011) this email highlighted my concern and requested some form of explanation whilst mentioning that if no satisfactory response could be delivered I would be seeking the services of another telecommunications provider. Now I accept it was a long weekend at the time so wasn't expecting a swift reply, yet today (April 26) my email service popped up with a read receipt saying it had been read at 11.00am now at 7.05pm I still have ha no reply. It is unacceptable for any company, especially one as large as Vodafone, to ignore any customer complaint if it is put in a concise, clear and inoffensive manner. At close of business on the April 29 if I have no satisfactory response, I will be changing provider and I will personally refuse to use any Vodafone network or device again. No company should be so inconsiderate to their customers as to not explain why there is a failure. My advice to Vodafone is this: Firstly, implement a system for notifying all users when and why there are system failures, Secondly, upgrade their systems to avoid serious system failures (glad to hear they are attempting this, but should I be forced to find this out through the media i.e. Today Tonight?) Lastly, having a customer service team that actually respects their customers. I have never got through to their customer service phone lines, as I can't bear hearing the music for more than 30 seconds, however I have heard several people saying that the service provide is inadequate. Vodafone needs to remember they are there to provide a service for us, failing to provide that service will mean we will go elsewhere, in the end bad service to us will mean less money for them.

1)They cant get voice mail on my phone and they dont know why
2)cant get reception in my car, in my room, in my house, at my work place and when i need to get reception i need to take my sim card out and put it back in.
3)They bared my sim when all i wanted was roaming to go overseas, then had to go in to there shop to get a new sim card.. not to mention that i was on my way to the airport!!!!!!
4) every time i call them they tell me its my phone not there coverage... so i brought a new phone out right and it still dose not work
5)no one can talk english when you call then to find out why your phone is not working.
6) ask to be called back by there superviser ... this never happends
7)all ways pay my bill by the due date, didnt get my bill one time and was charged $10 and have called them 10 times and they tell me they have taken it off but it still on my bill.

why should i have to pay a late fee if my phone never works..i should ask for a credit every time i go to use my phone but have no reception?? or should i charge them for inconviance? i will alway blam them for not being able to get a call from my dad to say that my grandad had a heart attack (he died shortly after)

do i need to keep going.... ??? vodafone stop being gready and go back to the way you were 3/4 years ago where everything worked.

We complained to vodafone of course they have given us the next three months of the contact at half price. Very generous considering I am paying for an account that I can't use. Fortunately for us our contact ends in August for which we will move on to the next provider and hope we are provided with "service". I use this word very loosely

There's only one thing I hate more than vodafone... telstra.

Telstra is definitely on top but 3 + Vodafone makes up half of Telstra and they have far fewer customers and only provide mobile phone and broadband. I can't find a breakdown of how many comments are just mobile phones.

Considering that our 8 phones are with vodafone business plan,we have had nothing but trouble trying to resolve this matter.I am trying to keep my cool but when discussing business with abroad, and the damm phone cuts out and then 5 times later its to hard ,i just divert the so called unlimited call to my landline. It gets better, when you contact vodafone on sir donald bradman drive ,South Australia you get the phone either ringing out or with please leave a message, not to mension that when they ported the numbers over they left one out and i am paying for that number with the old carrier and also with the new one.Does any one know what i should do after so many attempts?

The single most worst mistake i have ever made in my life.I never should of left telstra. I can't stand VODAFONE. I hate my phone. My boss hates my phone, my family hates my phone & my friends hate my phone.Drop out, drop out again, drop out. I live 2 and a half minutes walk from the centre of town in the suberb Boronia in melbourne the 2nd biggest city in Australia and i have 0 to 1 bar of coverage all the ------- time on my phone.Pockit wifi just as bad. You have lied and fooled everyone with your faulty advertisements and are selling a product that is not even real and with not enough infustructure installed to supply what your selling and i no cause i install dishes and phone pannels around melbourne and i should have known better. Im a fool for not doing my homework, lesson lernt.I spent 1 and half hrs on hold from custumer service and still diddnt talk to a person had to hang up cause phone went flat and i was furious. All summer the adds were on tv every add break they could get on, selling the test cricket live on vodafone (vodafail) for just a coupple of dollars and had Micheal Johnson and some players on the add having a great time using there phones and i thought that would be a cool idea to watch cricket on my phone so i went and got one.It never happened cause of the scam. They used the australian cricket team to sell there product to the genuine and honest viewers of Australia and we feel RIPPED OFF!!!!!Spent 4 weeks without a phone at christmass in mildura, country victoria a town with 60,000 plus people.Hopeless, unless u sleep in the gutter in the main street in a certain place. Come on this is 2011 not the ice age.REFUND!!
26 Apr 2011 08:59:33 PM: What a terrible situation, we feel your pain. Don't wait any longer, go straight to the TIO and lodge a complaint, they will help you get out of your contract without charge. Goodluck!

17336 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Really bad.. at 26 Apr 2011 08:49:30 PM
Well where do I start, apart from the breakdown of the SMS service and that day where there was no coverage what so ever.. The network is totally slow, so low that my friend can usually view a video or picture at least 10 to 15 times quicker on their network than mine. The coverage is so varied and annoying. Just the other day I was to meet a friend and when I sent him a text message to tell him where I am, the network dropped out which caused a huge inconvenience. Another time I couldn't contact my housemate to ask whether he would like some dinner from our favourite take away place. Yet I still pay the bills, I am paying for inconvenience.

17335 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Incredibly fail at 26 Apr 2011 08:48:29 PM
I own an iPhone 4, and only about 50% of my calls actually connect, the other 50% are either sent to my voicemail if they are incoming calls, or I have to redial twice, sometimes three times before my call will go through. I have four bars of signal continuously throughout my house and I also have employed the use of the iPhone bumper. I don't understand how a network like this can fail so much in a technological world such as ours.
Additionally, I rang vodafone about this problem about 3 months ago, and they said that no fix would be available in the foreseeable future, but gave me 50% off of my phone bill (ironically).
Since then, the network status page has been updated to include my area in the list of "towers to be built in 2011".
However, no matter how good the reception is after they build the tower, I'll be leaving vodafone at the end of my contract, never to return again.
30 Apr 2011 09:26:11 PM: The fault you're experiencing is with the handset itself. The iPhone 4 has an operating system that can sometimes have trouble connecting to the network, though it can be dependent on the handset itself. It has something to do with the fact that the iPhone attempts to draw a great deal of bandwidth from your nearest towers, and when there isn't a great deal available it continues to try to its own demise. This can be proved by turning off 3G and cellular data in your network settings. You will find your reception will visibly improve. If you are willing, head into a store and have them send it away for repair on the basis of reception and network faults. The handset will more than likely be replaced, which will hopefully fix the problem. Unfortunately until the network is updated to cope with the fault it cannot be fixed.

I have no reception at the best of times in my house, then they have periods like Sunday arvo (24th April) with hours of no reception.

How many times is this going to happen?

Then they (Vodefone) think, they can make it up, by offering a day of free SMS on Sunday 1st May?
How is that going to fix the issue.

What happens if some one needed to call 000 on the 24/4 and couldnt get thru? What happened if some one dies, because of this?

Its very scary to know that you can not trust Vodefone. Even in an emergency situation.

Wanted to get in touch with my daughter whom I rarely get to see (due to distance) and was unable to wish her a Happy Easter. Don't know what happened, but there is no reception in the Bangalow area of NSW. What a pity that vodaphone ruined the opportunity for a disabled mother that I am to not be able to speak to her only child. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT VODAPHONE?...My daughter is now going to switch to another company & there goes the umpteen hours that I've accumulated so I could call her @ a cheaper rate. Might just think about switching as well.

Last year within a year into the contract returned my w595 Ericson phone for repair as the screen fizzed out.....Repaired no problem......Again same issue within the year....Fixed it again.....Then 3rd time screen cacked itself....I went to vodafone Sthland near Kmart. After 3 weeks no call back....So I went down to investigate. I was told that the phone could not be repaired this time. Well I had insurance and It was still within warranty....I still dont know why it couldnt be repaired. I Lost the plot in the store. I told any prospective customers that this co is rubbish and to look out if there was a problem. I demanded a regional manager contact me to resolve the matter. Next day I received a call from a Regional Manager and I explained the situation.....NEW PHONE sent to me.....Out of contract now but still using as I dont have problem with reception....The pain continues with Internet tho as I have one of those mobile toggle sticks thingys you put in your usb port...On contract still and getting poor internet all the time.....Probably in the last year I have had good reception twice at home in Sth Yarra(3 bars)Usually it is 2 bars (poor) If I take the laptop to work in Balaclava the reception is brilliant. Unfortunately I do not use the internet for my job so useless to me at work. I have at least another year to go of this contract so I will try the store first and see how I go

I was with 3, but got swapped over to vodafone, i can't get reception in the front prooms of my house, despite a tower being 350 or so metres away. I got told it was my handset, so i did as i was told and reset the phone and the problem still exists! The second time i rang them (from a landline) they told me it was my handset that was the problem, and that i would have to take it to be serviced. However when i told them that one of my mates, who was also in vodafail was standing alongside of me and had no reception either, i ogt told that that was impossible, as their system indicated there was nothing wrong with the network. I put up with not having service at the Clipsal 500, as did my mates, becuase they were experiencing a larger than usual call / data volume, but it hasn't stopped being a problem. the sooner i get out of this contract, the better. next stop Telstra - more expensive, but at least the staff in the shops seem to want to help you.

have been with Vodafone for awhile now & ever since being with them, I have had nothing but trouble. Everyday there is some problem with my network it goes from full signal to no network to emergency calls in a matter of a split second. I have to turn my phone on & off several times in a day & sometimes even pull my phone apart & take out the battery to get it to work. It is extremely annoying when you are on a phone call with someone & for no reason at all your signal drops out & cuts off the call. I also cannot receive picture messages, my txt get to people late & I sometimes don't even received txt messages & if I do they are too late...arrrrgghhh!!!!!! I called & spoke to the technical team about my issues & they said that they would fix them!! What do you think happened??? Still no improvement & still no picture messages received & stilll issues with txt messages & phone calls . To top it off this long weekend..of all weekends for it to happen the network it was down just BRILLANT!!! Vodafone better pull their finger out & sort out their issues or they are going to be loosing a large amount of customers. Including me who is seriously thinking of going back to Telstra. I have been with Telstra for years & have never had any problems with their service always plenty of coverage wherever you are. I went with Vodafone because they were a cheaper option for me to choose now I no why they are cheaper, cause you get what you pay for a crappy service. spent several hours on hold and talking to a brick wall (Call centre full of indians) and the final result.....you will have to pay full termination fees of about $900.
Tip: contact your crazy johns store and speak with the manager there. They were very helpful in the end and had contract terminated for me. Be assertive and request/demand things be done.

I recently complained about my service levels... Now I used to live in Bacchus Marsh and used to get OK 3G reception... I moved to Southbank 3 months ago and I have no more than 1 bar of reception in my apartment or at my work on Flinders Lane, Melbourne... Frustrating!!! When I spoke to customer care and was informed the following... That A - My last bill was going to be credited onto my account and B - I would receive 25% off my next 3 months bills... I was feeling good again.. Now a month later I received my bill and well firstly i was still being charged for the previous month, secondly the 25% had not been applied and thirdly I had been charged for international calls... Ummm as far as i know to make international calls you need to know people international... I was really annoyed so I called them back to speak to them... All they said to me was that because the notes on the system did not state the A option I was not entitled to this.. I said that I do not think that it was fair that I was paying for a service that I was not getting... The customer service team then said to me that because it was the technical team that I spoke to on the first call that they would need to call me back in 20 minutes after speaking to the tech team..... 7.5 hours later they called me back and said the same thing that because the notes did not state that I was having a bill waivered that i was not entitled to it... I also asked about the international calls and was advised that i would still have to pay for them... I asked to speak to the team leader and was told that was pointless as i would be told the same thing.. She also stated that the team leader was in a meeting.. I said i was willing to wait for them... She can back after 20 minutes on hold and said that the 25% discount was being applied and that the last months bill was being waivered but would still have to pay for international calls... I said fine I will call the TIC

My mum passed away last year. No reception on the day she died and vodafone told me I was in an area with no reception. Despite making calls from same location previous 10 days. I initially got a call centre in Egypt!
It wasn't until I got angry and told them I needed to call my family and tell them Mum had died they finally admitted there was a fault

I have been having issues with my phone ever since i begun my contract with Vodafone last year. I am constantly facing problems relating to:
1. dropped calls
2. delayed SMS and voicemails
3. dropped coverage consistently during the day
4. slow data and internet
5. phone constantly freezes
6. multiple charges for a single SMS
7. SMS's sending multiple times without my permission (THE LIST GOES ON)

Vodafone assured me that the coverage in my area was being improved over a month ago but all i have noticed is increasing problems and no solutions..Disgraceful!

I recently switched from Three to Vodafone as I was constantly being charged for excess data usage from emails when roaming on Telstra. I was told that Vodafone doesn't roam on Telstra and had a much better coverage than Three so I switched over, what a MISTAKE!! Internet access is just about nonexistent, bad reception when making phone calls, can take up to a minute to connect a call some times. I use my phone for business (self employed) but if this keeps up I'll be unemployed as I won't be able to communicate with my clients. When are they going to get it right and provide the service we are paying for???
26 Apr 2011 07:10:30 PM: Your paying for a cheap service. You get what you pay for.

If your livelihood depends on a working phone service you should be with Telstra.
27 Apr 2011 09:01:47 AM: i agree with you.but some people are stupid just like taking cut backs on isurance they never look at ther coverage and blame the insurance companies if they are not covered for flooding. you pay for what you get.

I signed up to a 24 month Vodafone contract in Nov 2009. At the time I was upsold to include a monthly insurance premium at approx $10 per month. It is nice to have the peace of mind she tells me at the store. Two months later my brand new IPHONE stops working, no coverage picked up at all anywhere.

So I take it back to the store and they tell me they have to send it in. 2 weeks later I receive an SMS with a quote for $276 to repair the phone. WTF I say. It is still under warranty and I also have friggin insurance. We have found that it has water damage and that is covered by neither.

I can assure you the phone looked fine from the outside and I didn't go for a dip in the bay with the bloody thing in my pocket. No budging from the lady at the Vodafone store - COME AND GET YOUR PHONE she says.

So I have worn it like a d#mbc*nt for the last 18 months until some dooshbag came into my place of business 3 weeks ago assuring me I could receive a free upgrade to a new phone on one of their new deals. I tell him that I am still under contract for 6 months and he assures me he can take care of that so we make an appointment to meet the next day.

I prepare for the meeting by looking up and printing old bills and having my account number etc etc etc all ready to go. He tells me the next day that he can't do anything for me regarding the current contract but can offer me a free accessory pack on the new phone. So do you want me to start the paper work he says?

I nearly buried my fist in his head and told him to pierce auff.

Last Thursday he came back....

17262 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is poor radio reception at 26 Apr 2011 07:01:56 PM
Just about any location on Bribie Island in Qld has poor reception from Vodafone. It has been this way for some years. Inside some buildings on the island, for example the RSL Club, have absolutely no Vodafone signal unless you walk ouside the building. Indeed even at my holiday unit in Bellara. I have to go outside onto the balcony to have a successful mobile phone call. Mobile internet coverage for my laptop computer is also a touch and go thing in my unit. Dropouts occur regularly.

I live near Goulburn on the land, have no land line so have had to rely on mobile service with Vodaphone which is driving me absolutely batty. Every single phone call drops out sometimes up to 3 times in one call. I have to go outside as I have no reception inside. Not looking forward to winter when the weather gets below 0 degrees. Brrrrr. So many times people are unable to contact me, and are unable to leave a message as voice mail does not work. I need a phone company that I can rely, I worry if I am on my own and there was an emergency what would I do!! Vodafail get your act together.

17259 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the definition of FAIL at 26 Apr 2011 07:00:48 PM
I have a phone on 3 which constantly drops out. it sits on my desk on loudspeaker, and all of a sudden the signal drops out. Also, constantly drops so low that I miss half of what my clients say to me when I am trying to assist them. Sure my house is at the edge of a 3G coverage zone, but the service is no different in the middle of Penrith. I get mobile broadband speeds of 180kbps at home, but barely 10kbps at my girlfriends in Penrith! 3 was good until they were taken over by Vodafone.

We went through the floods here in Ipswich and prior to the floods we had reasonable reception. Then, as flood waters came through we had no reception at all for about 3 days. Since then, We struggle to get 2-3 bars of reception at our house.

I have forwarded my complaint to the ombudsman they are a bad phone company

17250 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail!!! at 26 Apr 2011 06:56:10 PM
'3' Mobile is now owned but Hutchison Australia (Vodafone) and they have the same issues!

I once had $800+ taken out of my account (I had direct debit set up) incorrectly and never got it back. I had absolute rude pr**ks on the other end of the phone basically telling me where to go.

If we are a day late with a bill for either Vodafone or '3' they disconnect the service. But they constantly are in breach of their contract and we can't even end the contract for that reason? Stupid!

Finally, I used to work for a local debt collection company (in Wollongong) who exclusivley handle the contracts for both Vodafone and '3' and both companies advise all debt collectors to advise 'debtors' that it is not Vodafone or '3' resposibility if you have no reception, your phone doesn't work, basically any of the problems that happen.

We need to fight back against this!

17249 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 26 Apr 2011 06:55:20 PM
For nearly five months last year, my local area (The Basin, Vic) went from having four bars of reception to rarely having one and mostly having none. I put it down initially to maybe a car taking out a transmition tower, but then it just became annoying. According to them, nothing was wrong, nothing had changed.

I go on holidays to a place called Hat Head (near Kempsey). I am with a company called Just PrePaid (uses the vodafone network). I use to get coverage there on and off , usually at night. In the past three years , it got worse - no coverage at all. I tried to complain to vodafone, online. But when it asked what my account no. was, I couldn't answer because my server is just prepaid. Nothing has changed. The vodafone dealer in Port Macquarie told me --- vodafone had their towers worked on by contractors. These blokes pointed the towers out to sea -- if you were a boat you are right. He told me to make a complaint --- to who???? Also I was told they don't use the 3G network there causing more coverage problems

17247 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Call drop outs & no service at 26 Apr 2011 06:54:34 PM
One day i went to call my wife who was at home in Lake Munmorah i was at Tuggerah in what i thought would be a good area for reception no i was wrong. After about 5 phone calls one after the other i gave up. All the calls i made were approx a matter of seconds not quite enough to have a proper conversation. I thought at the time free phone calls to mobile & landlines was great! Pretty bad you cant always use the service OR LACK OF SERVICE.

17246 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 3G unconnectivity at 26 Apr 2011 06:53:13 PM
Hi, I live about 1/2 hour north of Brisbane's CBD and cannot get 3G coverage from Vodafone at home. This means that I cannot use the internet on my smart phone. I also get frequent dropped calls. If it doesn't improve by December this year, I will switching mobile phone provider. To add my email address to my account took about 4 months. I rang, went to the store, updated my account online many times, but it still took 4 months.

In Truganina Melbourne near Hoppers Crossing where I live, and campbellfield where I work, the reception is almost non existent. There are some good days, but most of the time I have 1, maybe 2 bars and internet reception is non existent.
My friends and work colleges who are with different carriers have no issues in the same areas. I am bitterly disappointed with vodafone. For such a world class company I cant believe they continue to sell phones knowing they have a vastly inferior network.

I never seem to have reception ANYWHERE... I don't have it at home, I sometimes don't have it in the city CBD and whenever I do it drops out inexplicably.
I actually have better reception interstate than I do at home... great load of good that does!
