26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I travel frequently to the Hunter Valley, where there is no coverage. I rang up last week and asked about roaming and was informed that Vodafone is set up so that if there are no Vodafone towers then the automatically pick up from Telstra/Optus etc. Guess what.... FAILED. I rang up today to complain that once again I had so coverage to which I was told "I will transfer you to our technical support and they will talk you through how to set up your handset." Wish Vodafone's staff would all read the same training manual before they start answering the phones.

12203 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very fail at 12 Jan 2011 08:24:39 AM
droped calls, no network coverage, poor battery life on the HTC Desire HD, poor customer service
12 Jan 2011 08:36:36 AM: Just to clarify, are you blaming the poor battery life of an HTC product on Vodafone?

Just so you know, I find that the battery life on phones running Android always get raped straight out of the box - and it has a lot to do with apps starting up/running in the background.
You should download an app killer (like "Advanced Task Killer") and set it to kill all unecessary apps at whatever intervals or frequency you wish - I set mine to kill pretty much everything whenever my screen is off and life is now good.
12 Jan 2011 08:47:30 AM: Hey there, I have the Sony Ericsson Experia X10. The battery just continues to die within a matter of hours!! How do I set App Killer up to kill apps automatically? I am constantly doing this manually every time I pick up my phone! Its driving me crazy!!
12 Jan 2011 08:54:46 AM: I'm using Advanced Task Killer (Froyo). Open up the app and tick all the boxes of the apps you don't want running in the background all the time.
Now hit the 'menu' button on your phone and some options should appear. One of the options will be "Settings" so select that. This will open up the Settings menu which includes a bunch of options under different headings. Scroll down to the heading "Auto Kill" and choose a level and the frequency. I have my level set to "Safe" and the frequency set to "When screen off".

Also if you place the Task Killer widget on your home screen, selecting the widget will manually kill the apps you specified as well.
12 Jan 2011 09:28:19 AM: Just out of interest - - does anyone know if the above is in Vodafone's information/help database or has it been found out by some other means????
12 Jan 2011 10:02:52 AM: Don't know if it's something any of the Telcos bother to mention, but it's more something you just learn by troubleshooting via Google search. Although it's also entirely possible that some phone models/brands just inherently have poor battery life, regardless of what the phone is running/doing.

And nowadays with smartphones being able to do so much, it's always worth Googling reviews for the phone model you're considering getting to see how the battery-life fairs under "normal" as well as intensive use.
13 Jan 2011 07:35:09 PM: Yes a little bit of personal responsibility is best when it comes to learning about your handset capabilities and pitfalls. Remember they're not phones any more they're mini computers and are very power hungry.
13 Jan 2011 08:12:10 PM: Whilst I agree they are power hungry, the other networks can cope with them. It is just Voafones crap network that can't.

12193 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mega Fail at 12 Jan 2011 06:47:00 AM
After asking around and from my own experience I have a theory that Vodafail support simply starts ignoring you. I started my battle with vodafone a week and a half ago trying to get my coverage issues fixed, or to get them to agree to waiving any penalties when I leave. After the hours on hold etc I'm finally told my case is being escalated and I'll be called on my land line at an agreed to time to troubleshoot. Never got the call. Since that time I've promised call backs that never came (4 times), been hung up on, simply not been able to get through due to network error (4 times) or gotten through and then got the message that there is a "technical error" and I need to hang up (6 times). Now I've gotten through, past Lara and the queue and the phone has simply rung and rung and rung for 5 minutes before I hung up. They are just avoiding me now aren't they? Anyway, I'm leaving and if they charge me for leaving my contract early I'll fight them every way I can.
12 Jan 2011 07:37:16 AM: Time to log the issue with the TIO - just document what you have done so far
12 Jan 2011 09:15:53 AM: Have now registered my complaint with the TIO, we'll see what happens. Regardless I'll be leaving Vodafail.

12179 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is WORST SERVICE EVER at 12 Jan 2011 01:06:50 AM
I have been with vodafone for nearly 4 years and have not had a problem up until about the last 6 months. reception is so bad that that it sits on 1 or reception bars. my girlfriend tries to call, she gets frustrated and gives up. she believes she get through to my phone on like the 6th call. and finally when she does get through it hangs up, so in the end we have to call each other 4-5 times just to talk for 5 minutes. i have missed work calls and have had to use email now, which makes it much more time consuming. i've really had enough, im soo happy that my contract finishes in 8 days and i can tell u what im not going back to vodafone even if they offered me a year free. not even they gave me the opportunity to meet david beckham.

SERIOUSLY VODAFONE
IF YOUR GONNA MAKE US PAY FOR A SERVICE
MAKE SURE THE SERVICE WORKS

12178 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is better on the 2G network at 12 Jan 2011 12:35:43 AM
I've been with Vodafone for a few years now and the reception has never been great in my area, but a guy at my local store told me that the reception is much better on the 2G network. I have a new iPhone now (after upgrading from the 2nd Gen one) and still works fine on 2G. I don't care about not having 3G, because everything still works on the iPhone fine, internet is slower but still okay. So just a tip for anyone experiencing coverage problems, try 2G for a while. If/once Voda fixes their 3G issues, you can switch back, but until then 2g is fine.

I travel by train from Hawkesbury River to Sydney four days a week and I cannot have a conversation during that trip without it dropping out 3 or 4 times. I am not talking about tunnels here - I am talking about the main line via Hornsby, Epping, Eastwood and Strathfield! Frequently there is no internet access for the whole 60 minutes - sooo frustrating! Just before Christmas everyone with a Vodafone acount in the office in Surry Hills, right next to Central railway station, had no reception ALL day!

OK. I did not think data speed and coverage could get any worse but it is. I have read what is happening when other people try & get issues resolved & having tried myself it seems hopeless & we have to wait until our contracts expire. What about the poor folk in Qld on Vodafail... They really need the service to be up & running properly in such a situation. You should be ashamed of yourselves Vodafail and karma dictates you won't be in business for much longer. The security breach is totally scary & I don't believe a word that comes out of Vodafail.

12170 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks!!! at 11 Jan 2011 09:48:10 PM
I have an iphone 4. If I put any type of case on it, I have ZERO reception most of the time. So if I want reception, I have to use it without a case... I have already dropped the phone once- of course without the case, and the back broke costing me $80 to repair. I'm sure I'll drop it again, and since I have to use it without the case I'll have to pay to get it repaired again.
It's a lose/lose situation: no reception, or risk dropping it and breaking it and paying for the repairs.
11 Jan 2011 10:19:06 PM: Er... to be honest it sounds like you're having issues with the iPhone... as well as not being able to look after it (and this is why you can't have nice things :P). But yeah, I too require a case for my phone or I will definitely end up axing it.

And funnily enough, your reception vs phone cover issue is like the inverse of what was initially reported when the iPhone 4 was release; where the use of a case was required to prevent reception issues caused by an inherent design flaw involving the placement of certain components, a metal reception band, the position of your hand on the phone and the fact that the human body conducts electricity.
13 Jan 2011 05:38:14 AM: I have a case on my iPhone 24/7 and my reception issues change daily, most days I'm fine.. Some days none for hours.

12166 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is poor reception at 11 Jan 2011 09:25:57 PM
I bought a new vodafone phone for my daughter to use after checking the vodafone website to see that Albany in WA has reception. We found there was no recption from our home and pretty much everywhere except the centre of town even though we are situated in what is considered the middle of the city. After numerous calls to vodafone to get an unlocking code so we could at least use the phone with another provider we were told it costs $25 to do it online plus an extra $50 because the phone is less than 6 months old. I was quite prepared to pay the $25 but not the $50 as it wasn't my fault we couldnt use the phone. Every time I spoke to someone about the issue they told me they couldnt help me but would refer me to their supervisor who would contact me. I told them not to call the vodafone number as we get no reception and as a consequence our credit also expired as we couldnt use it in time before it expired. Receiving messages is the same problem as we had no credit to retrieve them. They never replied and so I had to keep ringing them and telling the same story to someone new with the same result - I'll get someone to call you. It wasnt until I threatened in an email to report them to the TIO that I was sent an unlocking code which did not work and so I had to continue making calls until I set a time limit on contacting the TIO. That is when I at last got someone sensible on the phone who told me that obviously I needed a new unlocking code and that when she receives it she will call me on my other mobile and walk me through the unlocking process with the code. It finally worked and we havent looked back. I will never use vodafone again and have also told anyone who will listen in Albany that vodafone has no reception here so DO NOT BUY VODAFONE.
Now there is this problem of leaked personal info - I wonder about identity theft and who knows what transactions on my credit card. Where does this leave us???
12 Jan 2011 12:37:59 AM: The latest news is that all bank and credit card information is encrypted, even for staff members, so you should be fine there.
12 Jan 2011 05:00:54 AM: Locking is so that you can get the handset so cheap usually. The unlocking fee is to recover losses and would have been sold to you as such. Sometimes due to manufacturer not supplying the correct codes or the customer not being able to read unlocking instructions properly there are difficulties in unlocking. The instructions to unlock it online are on the box when you buy it. I'm glad you finally managed to do it. Who was really at fault in your unlocking drama? You wanted a discount and weren't prepared to put effort in to get it.
12 Jan 2011 07:44:49 AM: Err - whilst your bank and CC info might be safe - the information useful to identity theives such as DOB, address, drivers licence number are probably there for the taking
12 Jan 2011 09:52:07 AM: A local reseller "ALL Phones" uses a laptop to connect to vodafone, this is in FULL view of all passing people as the store is a counter in the middle of a shopping mall, not only insecure but not private, and the stupid message on 1555 about be assured.... secure login and password.... get real, your caught with your trousers down, deal with it and be honest for once... I recently drove from Canberra up to central QLD, days before the recent floods swept through the area. Was annoyed when I noticed 5kms out of Goondiwindi on the way to St George that there was zero coverage. Arrived in St George and spent the night - again no coverage. Left for Dalby. Still No coverage. On the road with no means of contacting anybody, or friends further north being able to reach me, I was headed straight for the flood zone. I never realised just how few and far between pay phones are these days! Go Vodafone! F#@ktards!

20 Jan 2011 12:42:34 AM: Let's be realistic here- Vodafone's system is stuffed so much of the time, and it's so slow when it;s working, that the real baddies probably couldn't be bothered, unless their heavy accessing of the system is what makes it so slow.

12148 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is could do better at 11 Jan 2011 07:37:01 PM
I've been a vodafone contract customer for about 5 years now. They offer great deals on new phones and really good contracts. There have definitely been some reception problems and I need to find out more about this breach of access to confidential customer information. The way I understand it VF has been allowing its contractors unlimitted access to all our customer records via an online portal. The details of this sound like a real worry. I'm yet to decide how upset about this I am and whether or not to join the class action. Having said that I must say I really like Vodafone, my experience with them has always exemplified superior customer service with any bill disputes being resolved quickly with either a refund or an offer to meet me half way. this generosity of spirit goes a long way. I can't help but worry that we will lose this if we throw them under the truck. My experiences as a Telstra and Optus were awful and I have to say I appreciate the best of a bad bunch.
11 Jan 2011 10:02:53 PM: I totally agree with this. I've been with Vodafone for a couple of years now and compared to my previous provider (what became Reward mobile) I was waaaaay happier with Vodafone. The coverage was actually really good (I could receive calls in the bottom floor of our building where others on other providers couldn't) and I also have to admit I've generally had good experiences with Vodafone customer service, both in-store and at call centers (admittedly the dealers can come across a bit dodgy). Except for Lara. I hate her.

The problem is, I think my established brand loyalty and the fact that my service issues are far less severe compared to a lot of individuals here had made me complacent about the declining quality of services.

But as each day goes on and I continue to experience dropped calls and poor reception, I really can't chalk it up to just "the network acting up". Because quite frankly it shouldn't be. I'm not keen on joining Telstra or Optus but Vodafone really needs to correct its act or it will end up losing me and my family members' plans.

If I or my family members end up a victim of this security breach then that'd be a whole new story. I'd absolutely go off my rocker. Their network coverage obviously needs to improve for them to continue to do business, but I'm particularly concerned about how they go forward from here re: storage of and access to customer data. I have no doubt that they've been negligent in that department.
13 Jan 2011 07:40:33 PM: That's the point every one should realise. Don't complain or call unless you have a real issue. Chances of your details being accessed are so low it's not funny. Unless you walk into a Vodafone store or call and give them your number and password!

I only use prepay with my vodafail so that I can control my usage. So my complaint is more about the coverage, the text messages that are sent multiple times to the annoyance of the recipient and probably to my costs. False and misleading competitions that vodafail never honor. Never being able to access the net on my phone despite good coverage at that time. I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues .. until now! If I complained about everything wrong with Vodafone these days I would be here all day - so I will go with the biggest issue - their phone coverage!!

Not receiving a text message all day, but then receiving a whole bunch at once. Text messages I send never seem to make it to the recipient, even though they are in my sent items. Incoming and outgoing calls are always extremely crackly and most of the time, end up cutting out. In the times that they dont, they may as well, as voices cut in and out its impossible to hold a conversation. The Internet is painfully slow also. Customer Care is also a joke - with the bad reception along with the lack of english those calls are more frustrating than helpful ...

The final straw for me was when it took me two and a half days to retrieve a voivemail letting me know that a good friend had passed away.

FAIL!!

My daughter has severe asthma we had to call an ambulance early one morning because she wasnt breathing and I had no reception. Im also not happy with the customer service, delayed text messages, delayed voice messages, also not showing missed calls and being unable to call out. Friends and family who have tried to call and all they get is voice mail, or its switched off when it isnt and it wasnt in use at the time, and its all when the phone is in good reception range. it is just joke. why should we be paying for something we cant even use!

11 Jan 2011 06:38:15 PM: Sorry mate it goes tower to exchange to tower at other end (if a mobile to mobile call). You may have thought that's why you brought a mobile. Doesn't make it reality. Coverage is metro and road based.

12129 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is coverage, what coverage at 11 Jan 2011 05:57:56 PM
coverage in SA is shocking. 2 hrs from our house, we have no coverage. But our friends with the other carriers do!! Why cant they use a universal tower for some country locations.
12 Jan 2011 12:28:58 AM: That would mean the telecommunications companies actually co-operating!! Are you serious? They have locked their phones to their own networks so you can't freely swap between them, why would they co-coperate?
12 Jan 2011 05:24:28 AM: Actually sharing towers happens a lot. Number portability is also a giant cooperation between networks. It's like getting the Herald and the telegraph to share printing presses. Crazy but it happens.
12 Jan 2011 07:59:57 AM: Yet someone I know,on 3,when upgrading to I4 couldn't port her 3 number from her I3 to her I4, also on 3.

Somehow in Castletown Shopping Centre, in Townsville, there is absolutely no coverage whatsoever. That is until you walk into the vodafone shop. In there it is almost perfect. The rest of the shopping centre not a chance. This is completely unacceptable because if my wife and I split up to do some separate shopping we have to make precise arrangements. It's like we've gone back to having no mobile phones. Does this happen elsewhere and how do they manage perfect coverage in the shop?
11 Jan 2011 09:00:02 PM: pre-arrange to meet her in the Vodafone shop at Castletown at a certain time, this way you wont need to use the mobile phone, this would be a smarter and more accurate solution to your problem. wait on, fuck the Vodafone store and go to Allphones store in Castletown, you may be able to port out to Optus there, this will solve all your problems.

I live just 30 kilometres from the Nation's Capital in a rural area. My coverage is ordinary at best and I continually lose calls between my home and the city, as there are several 'black spots' on the way. I have been a Vodafone customer for some years now, but if I wasn't contracted to them until May 2012 I would leave like a shot. Unless things improve dramatically by the end of my contract, I'm 'outta here' (unless a class action somehow gives me a way out BEFORE then).

12105 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst than foam cups! at 11 Jan 2011 04:09:05 PM
Am currrently on the phone trying to get through after being told to redial multiple times!

Have had issues with Vodafone for over 2 years. My blackberry curve was playing up, which took forever for them to acknowledged was faulty and I was getting charged ridiculous amounts for multiple messages being sent and vodafone's particularly laggy balance updater. I.e. It would tell me I had $200 of credit on my $49 cap plan when i had far less or it "couldn't provide a balance at this time". This would lead to my account going over, how can i manage my account if they can't tell me how much i got to spend? What? Spend less so they can have more of my money for less work? How many telco providers can't even provide you a normal account balance? I understand that it's not live, but be at least 1-2 days up to date.

Lara....oh Lara...How i wish you could actually understand a word i say. I've tried in futile to get Voda to fix issues, but this is just plain useless when you can't even get from point A to point B. I personally believe it is designed to just stall customers so they don't need to hire as many customer service operators on the other end in India.

Lastly, I for the love of god was reluctant to sign up, but have just signed up to Vodafone in December as my partner was also on the network (free calls voda to voda). First off, network signal has been shotty to say the least. I get calls that are patchy and I am on a new phone. My new blackberry torch 9800 (yes it's only just come out) sometimes losses reception and even rejects my sim. WTF? Yes Vodafone sucks and now i am stuck with them for another 24 months. Why can't you just work?

As i finish writing this...guess what? I'm stil waiting for a voda rep to answer my call...30 minutes in. Oh did i forget to mention that they are sending multiple bills for 2 different accounts? Which was what my call was regarding... And here comes the patchy reception from their own call center!

Voda I hope you get sued for every cent you've cost us loyal customers.
11 Jan 2011 04:21:31 PM: I too have had major billing issues, they never seem to get it right...this has only happened in the past few months, call up , complain, and get them to go through the bill, the 3 times I have got them to do this they have found errors on their end and end up saying a big SORRY and credit my account, im sick of having to do this, but watch your bills very closely ...

12100 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is It fails with coverage, security and I believe I have been ripped off at times with my prepaid credit. at 11 Jan 2011 03:55:50 PM
I'm not in any mess but as stated above I have not been happy with Vodafone's coverage that goes out for days at a time, delays in text messages coming through and being sent and at times I have really felt as if I have been ripped off with my phone credit. I will text through my balance and I might have $4.00 left for example, will send one text and then I am out of balance! There have been many times when I was certain that I could not have used so much phone credit as has been registered. Once when coverage was out for a few days, my phone would connect, then cut off, I'd have to ring back again and again for the same thing to happen. My family who were on Vodafone had the same connection problems as had some of my friends. I rang up to complain at the time, people said they would return my calls when I actually got cut off to them as well but no one would get back to me. So I had to ring again and again to get my complaint heard. The call centre is obviously overseas. Either that or they have people working for them who do not have a very good command over English, judging by their communication standards. And the irony is that it is a communications network!!!

12096 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Reception at 11 Jan 2011 03:32:30 PM
FOR ANYONE IN CANBERRA, USE 2G NOT 3G (NOT DUAL MODE EITHER) IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE CALLS OR RECEIVE CALLS.
This is a temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 07:51:56 PM: +1 This works a treat in Gungahlin. Have consistant reception on 2G with iphone4 and all calls and SMS come through as I was missing calls and delayed SMS with mid/full reception on 3G. Too right though about the temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 11:44:07 PM: So, you've paid/are paying extra for a 3G phone, and the only way you can get some use out of it, is by using 2G, (and maybe next week a long piece of string)? Keep a record of how long you need to do this, because, I think you should get a reduction in your bills. And, I think, Vodafone/s tech records should show whether your calls, sms went through on the 2G network. You may have to get an identity thief to pull them out of the system.
12 Jan 2011 06:00:45 AM: Extra to use 3G? Lies. No reduction to your bill. Take any 'advice' you get on here with a grain of salt. However I'd clog up the customer care line more if I was you so you can ask but if you're expecting a yes answer...
16 Jan 2011 11:35:08 AM: @12 Jan 2011 08:00:45 AM: what a clever little Vodatroll."extra for a 3G phone" is different from "Extra to use 3G" ,as you well know.
"Take any 'advice' you get on here with a grain of salt." So, what first hand knowledge would prompt you to give that advice?

12092 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Frustrating as f*** at 11 Jan 2011 03:22:09 PM
Issue 1: Poor customer service? Maybe not super poor, but less than ideal for sure.
Once my previous contract ended just midway through last year, I bought myself a handset from online (a Nexus One shipped from the States) and changed myself to a Sim-only cap which included 3G data allowance.
3G didn't work. The Vodafone dealer/reseller told me I needed a new sim (er... ok) so I go to the official brand store and wait in line forever (at least the chick who served me was polite enough) and I told them my problem and that I was told to get a new sim. No questions, suggestions, second opinions, just an "ah, ok" response and they gave me a new sim. Still no 3G. I thought my phone was faulty, but then I swapped sims with a friend with the same phone and that magically worked (although my sim f**ked his phone up momentarily). So I succumb to calling the call centre where the very helpful individual on the other end of the line informed me that data wasn't enabled on my account. They helped switch it on for me but they couldn't answer why it was disabled in the first place, despite my probing and cajoling. Although what I -really- enjoy is the fact that the staff in-store couldn't even take the initiative to solve the problem properly by checking my account options to see whether data was enabled in the first place.

Issue #2: Reception issues
I've had audio quality issues in the past (others not being able to hear me) and chalked it up to my handset (an original 1st gen iPhone). I changed my phone and plan, but since moving to my new place I've noticed a brand new set of reception issues. Nowadays, my phone calls often consist of the other person's voice cutting in and out such that I can't even follow what words they're saying, let alone piecing together a sentence, and eventually the call just drops out. The other person can hear everything I say, I just can't seem to hear them. In my unit this seems to happen 99.99% of the time. I play the walk-around-the-unit-repeating-"hello? hello? are you there?" game until I find a spot where I can start to hear them. It's not my handset, because it doesn't happen everywhere in the world/Sydney. It's not my unit, because everyone else who passes through my unit (including my housemates) are fine. I have to admit I was in denial at first, but now I'm pretty sure I'm a victim of sh*t poor service.
My family's mobile plans are all through the one Vodafone account which I manage. I can only hope that they aren't experiencing the same issues as I am because I loathe to think that our family is funding this freaking circus freak show that is Vodafone AU.

Issue #3: Security breach
Seriously. WTF. How stupid can you freaking be? Any and all breaches should be traceable because every single staff member should have a unique friggen login ID (amongst other authentication protocols). And high-turnover/low-level staffers should have the most limited access to personal information possible (if a mere dealer is responsible for such a serious breach, then it is most -definitely- the fault of Vodafone AU and its poor business/IT practices).
If there are indeed instances of "communal" login IDs in place at Vodafone branches/resellers/whatever, I don't see how changing the passwords every 24hrs is helping to track/isolate an offending employee/dealer who is using a login that is also used by n individuals (where n is > 1).

Issue #4: Lara
I hate automated phone menus which ask for verbal responses/cues. But my goodness, Lara is the ONLY one who makes me swear like a sailor within 20 seconds every freaking time I call. I feel very sorry for the individual behind Lara's voice. I just know that if I heard her on the street I'd instantly think of Lara and be like "F*ck f*ckity f*ck aarrrggghhhh!" and want to punch her in the face.
11 Jan 2011 04:28:37 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page. The TIO will no doubt be able to assist you
11 Jan 2011 05:28:57 PM: I think LARA is the same happy happy voiceover chick that does the voiceovers for ABC kids TV.
As with LARA for Vodafail, her voice drives me crazy with frustration when I try to lodge a call with VF customer service.

I run a small business. Switched to VF 4 weeks ago. Now have no reception at home and for most of my drive in to work. For the record, these areas are meant to have standard coverage. I work on my own a lot of the time and rely on my phone for safety as well as being in contact with clients. Have had lots of calls dropping out, and have so far had 4 crossed lines if that is possible with 2011 technology!! Phone usually shows reception until it is picked up - reception falls as soon as screen is swiped or call answered. Have had to take out pre-paid with another carrier in order to keep business going. NOT HAPPY.

12056 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 11 Jan 2011 01:28:13 PM
I have such poor reception that if I don't stay in the one spot when on the phone the call drops out and often it takes quite a while to even get one or two bars of reception. In one place I lived, I actually had to go for a walk because I had no reception at all. I thought it was just me, this website proves me wrong! I need to look for an alternative.

12053 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DISGUSTING at 11 Jan 2011 01:26:02 PM
Where to start? Ive been on my contract for approx 10months. Since the very beginning, Ive had lost txt messages, "call connection failure" drop outs, no reception etc. So the resolution? Call their customer service apparently because in store vodafone staff have NO CLUE what they are talking about and are useless.
So you call, and call, and call, and call, get an investigation that never gets completed, call back, call back, call back.
Then finally get through and leave your number for a call back. Nothing. So you call back call back and call back. THEN you get hung up on twice, disconnected 4 times and then you cant get through when you once again... call back!! So disgusted in the lack of professionalism. You would think that with all the media covergae of them lately theyd be more careful in how they treat their customers. DISGUSTING

Always receive sms messages several days after it was originally sent to me. When I send a SMS, my friends receive them several days later.

Most of my calls go directly to voicemail as I hardly ever have reception, however I do not get alerted until several days later that I have a voicemail, and it is always too late by then!

12051 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very Poor at 11 Jan 2011 01:17:56 PM
Very poor reception - when I changed over to Vodafone from 3, I was told that they are the same company. However, I've realised that they are not. Vodafone does not have any roaming coverage, whereas 3 does. Last weekend I took a drive 180kms S/E of Melbourne, and was totally out of signal for most of the time. Are they the same as 3, I think not.

12047 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very. at 11 Jan 2011 01:06:11 PM
Originally I was with 3, however, the area which I live in has zero 3 coverage, but the guy who signed me up knew that my area had no coverage, and still suggested that I upgrade to a higher internet quota - which I foolishly did. Then every time my bill came around, I'd be slugged with anywhere between $70-$250 extra for the internet coverage I was supposed to be getting. After phoning up EVERY month complaining about the problem, they switched me to Vodafone. Man, that was probably the worst move of my life. Vodafone has THE WORST coverage of any service provider I've ever dealt with. The internet is slower than an 80-year old in a walking frame. Just a horrible, horrible company. If I had the money to get straight out of this contract, believe me, I would.

12046 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME!!! at 11 Jan 2011 01:03:16 PM
Well, where do I start??? I have just finally connected to my vodafail wifi broadband internet, after several days and several times being hung up on from customer care! I only signed up on contract within the last month for this "broadband" wifi after having a useless USB wireless internet through vodafail...

Now onto the phone reception... I receive text messages several days after they were sent. Receptients receieve my text messages several days after they were sent. I have never seen a 3G icon on my phone, even though my street is on the map as having 3G coverage...

There is plenty more I could complain about, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time with this useless company!

very marginal reception in Culburra Beach, NSW. Called Vodafone and advised that reception "should" be good there. I have a tri band phone that can pick up 3G, GPRS, etc but still drops out or has no coverage in my street.
11 Jan 2011 09:08:20 PM: The reception is not good there if you look at the maps, btw drop in at the bowling club and have a beer for me.

12041 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely Pathetic at 11 Jan 2011 12:42:54 PM
We are a building company and vodafone does not provide coverage for the suburb that we are working in for the next 14 months...vodafone (after many frustrating efforts) agreed back in November 2010 to cancel our mobile broadband plan and guess what? We are still being charged for it. Have contacted their "customer care" dept via email (attaching their email confirmation that the account is to be cancelled) and no response 5 days later...HELP!!!
11 Jan 2011 05:38:28 PM: That's not a reason to cancel. Was it working in the area where you were working when you signed up? Vodafone can't control where you decide to take a job.

I recently called customer service from the airport to double check my international roaming was on before going overseas.. the man who answered the phone could hardly speak any english but the words "call back in 24 hours me no english"..i couldnt believe what i was hearing.. i was calling vodafone customer service.

I hung up and called back again to get another man who could speak a little more english then the last guy.. he checked all and and said it was on..as I has expected it to be on..

Once arriving overseas I had no coverage at all.. thus not being able to have regular contact with my kids or for any emergencies..
On arrival back into Australia I went to the vodafone store and asked why this happened.. they check and said she global roaming is and has always been on, we can texplain why it didnt work best to call custmoer service...hmm

I called customer service and the lady said " i dont know why you should have called us when you were overseas from your phone" ??? yeah right..

Very very disappointing.

12033 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is at 11 Jan 2011 12:06:16 PM
I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues either, but mine are minor compared to some of the stories i have read.
To those that say, "cheapskates, u get what u pay for", i am paying the same amount as my partner and get less call value for it, so how is that being cheap?
I emailed to tech support about the few coverage issues less than 2 weeks ago, and altho i missed the call, they have contacted me back to try and sort something out. I have also changed handset in the last week which has helped alot, so maybe most of mine were due to my fone. Dont know.
Good luck to everyone with problems, and i hope u get urs sorted asap
12 Jan 2011 08:00:09 PM: Soo.. if your not saving money (being cheap).. why did you choose the smallest, slowest network?

I live in Sydney metro. There are no many blind spots around north ryde and lane. If i stand at the corner of lane cover rd and wicks rd there is ZERO recepton. if I am on a call and drive through this corner .. I call drops out.

Also the data speed is terrible. I have4 GB allowance and when i start downloading stuff form HTTP sites, Vodafone either blocks or slows my down so the download fails.

sometimes I have to call the same number 10 times to get a connection otherwise I can get connection error.

I have been with vodafone fone for 14 years now ..maybe its time to move on

12010 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is just ridiculous at 11 Jan 2011 10:46:39 AM
NETWORK STATUS with vodafail is ZERO!!! and has been alllll day. Ok, yes there are floods, but all other networks are fine. I live in Stretton, Brisbane. I have had NO choice with the poor reception in the last few weeks, but to get a prepaid with Savvytel, which uses the Optus network, and shove it in an old mobile phone of mine. I now carry two mobiles around, because of vodafails failures. Reception with Savvy is always through the roof perfect, and doesn't matter how flood affected we are.
11 Jan 2011 12:25:48 PM: Congestion. Pure and simple. EVERYONE is calling to check on their relos and facebook their latest flood picture. The networks are not infinitely capable of handling your calls.

I would REALLY LOVE to have the luxury of sitting on hold today for an hour to wait to give Vodafail a blast......... but unfortunately THERE MUST BE A CLOUD IN THE SKY AS I HAVE NO FREAKIN SIGNAL AGAIN. You dont need a storm or even rain for this pathetic network to lose signal. A simply cloud is enough. Technology at it's finest Vodafail. You must spend loads of your profits updating your network. 11989 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is More fail than the sun exploding at 11 Jan 2011 10:27:09 AM
I cancelled an iphone plan and was let out with no trouble due to lack of reception. However, they required me to return the phone to them using the express post parcel bag provided, which was fine. Except that the bag didn't come. about a week later, I had to call to chase this up, apparently the bag was never sent, so they said they would mail a new one that afternoon, I checked they had the correct address, which they did and everything seemed fine. However, I then started receiving bills from vodafone trying to charge me for the iphone handset that I was meant to be returning to the value of almost $1900. I called them back. This time I was told not to pay the bill and that a bag would be express posted to me. This went on for over 3 months. THREE MONTHS! to the point where it has affected my credit rating and I had letters from debt collectors trying to get the $1900 from me. I called vodafone several times during this period, and was told repeatedly to wait for the bag they were once again going to send out. I asked if I could pay to send the bag myself, they said no. I asked if I could return the phone to a retail vodafone store, they said no. I didn't want the iphone, I wasn't using the iphone, yet they were still trying to charge me while they were the ones delaying sending me the bag to return the phone.
I ended up calling the ombudsmun.
Eventually the bag arrived, I returned the phone, yet I was still being harrassed by vodafone and a debt collector because vodafone had failed to put a note on the account.
The service I received was absolutely terrible, and I now have a tarnished credit history due to their negligence. I will never ever be dealing with vodafone again and am encouraging all my friends to leave vodafone also.
VERY UNIMPRESSED!

Got an iPhone 4 in september through vodafone, first month or so was fine but ever since then it is just useless. Everytime I pick my phone up it says 'Network Lost - Change your settings'.. Like not just once or twice a day, I'm talking literally every time I look at it. I constantly run fully out of service (one bar in the middle of surfers paradise), I have family back in NZ and everytime u try call them it just hangs, doesn't ring, doesn't go to answer machine - just does NOTHING! I try send texts and when I come back to it half an hour later it says it never sent. Jeez don't even get me started on the Internet/data.... It is impossible to use it. Every so often it MAY load but takes about 5 mins per page - I'm lucky I have telstra wifi and just log in with that. if they don't fix these problems I will be leaving (for free I might add, not going to be paying them a cent!) but that is a shame as the plan I am on is perfect for me. Get ur s**t sorted .
12 Jan 2011 09:24:29 AM: It's a contract. You signed it. You knew the risk you were taking. You followed the crowed wanting a useless IPhone 4 handset. So goodluck not paying anything..

Called last week to complain and request that I be released from my contract. I was promised a call back, never received one and had to call multiple times before I eventually got through. I mean even the call centre is not working and simply disconnects you most of the time.

I have 1 bar reception at beast, no 3g, I am on an unlimited plan that costs over $110 per month, I should be receiving a premium service.

I was told I could they would release me from my contract after they did their due diligence to check that it wasn't some other issue with my phone. They said that rather than make me wait they'd call me back once someone from tech support was available, 1 week later and no contact. I've given them a chance, now I must contact that TIO. This sucks, I almost missed my grandmother's funeral last week because I didn't get the call at all and the voicemail arrived very late.

Vodaphone merged with 3 (via Hutchison) more than a year ago and yet they have not merged their networks. You can drive from Adelaide's northern suburbs on the main highway to Darwin and back and not touch one 3 network. I guess they make too much money with Internet roaming charges. Merge your companies -> MERGE YOUR NETWORKS! Give customers what they are paying for.
