26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have very bad reception in my own house. Living less than 30km from the capital city ( melbourne) you would expect to have near perfect coverage.
All the members of the house are with vodafone and we all have the same coverage issues.
We just want to have better service as long time loyal customers

10 Jan 2011 12:56:18 PM: You, my friend, need to get urgently in contact with the TIO, the contact details can be found at the top of the page, How To Complain, suggest you do it sooner and not later ie now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10 Jan 2011 01:08:53 PM: Thank you, I will. I sent the above complaint to Vodafone last week and haven't yet received a response. If I my credit rating is damaged, I will drag them to court.
10 Jan 2011 05:25:57 PM: I used to work for crazy johns, they should of checked with you what your mobile reception is like at home, brought up a coverage map to show you and advised you that if the service didnt work as soon as you got home that you are to call the customer complaints dept and they would cancel the contract straight away as they would see that there was no usage on the account. I agree definetly take it to the ombudsman

11718 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Ridiculous!! at 10 Jan 2011 12:24:20 PM
I spent the month of Decmeber arguing to get my contract terminated with no cancellation fees attached (I had a contract with a carrier of Vodaphone). After MANY phones calls, hours on hold and talking to people who had no record of any of my previous complaints, my contract was terminated. I was told I would have to pay the fee and I said not to bother putting it on my bill because I would not pay it - so they didn't!!
My issues were the fact that I run a business using my phone as a point of contact and was missing a large number of important calls each day. People would call and my phone would not ring - just straight to message bank and then it would take ages for the missed call to come though (even though the phone said I had full service). Sometimes 3 days would pass and it would take me turning my phone on and off to get the message. Tech support told me numerous times it was not the coverage issue, it was the phone. I did everything they asked me to do and they still claimed it was not a problem. That's when I really got annoyed!!
I am very happy now that I have changed service providers and can't help looking back thinking of what a poor business Vodaphone is running (or attepting to at least!).
16 Jan 2011 12:26:21 PM: "who had no record of any of my previous complaints," Perhaps Vodafone would like to claim that it was someone with "unauthorised access" that wiped all records of your previous complaints?

Thats when i actually receive a bill.No bills have been sent to me in 3 months.I get the sms to say its due on such and such date yet receive no bill at all.
Pathetic service.I want out but its $1000 to cancel my contract.
10 Jan 2011 03:23:15 PM: if they cannot provide you with the service you signed up for you should not be obliged to continue paying. they know this fact, that is why they have let thousands of people of their contracts

11711 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 100% does not work in my home at 10 Jan 2011 12:15:53 PM
I used to use Optus, then transferred home plan to AAPT, unfortunately mobile was with Vodaphone. Used to work, now cannot get any reception in SA 5050 despite Vodaphone saying they have good coverage here. I just cannot rely on my mobile. Callers tell me that they get message to say phone is not switched on. I just use my landline. In December, a govt deparment tried phoning while I was in Adelaide city. They rang 8 times in 2 hours. The phone rang once.

11707 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone's top employee is Lara at 10 Jan 2011 12:09:57 PM
Well she is the only person you get to speak with and sadly Lara's propensity to make errors is at least better than network reception.

I use vodafone on a 3G dondgle for one remote destktop. The connection drops 2-3 times a day on average, some days 10 times sometimes just 1 time.

Vodafail's helpful technical support deny any problems, suggested using 2g, and well generally leave you hold.

For my company mobiles I particularly lved their admin stuff ups. We had 2 personal and 1 corporate account. I tried to transfer 1 phone from a personal to the business account. Far too complex for Vodafail's dynamic team. Instead they opened another corporate account...in an identical company name. But the geniuses staffing vodafail decided that perhaps I needed a different type of company a small home based one. So called 'soho' for this whobdnt know small businesses get to enjoy Lara bigger ones get a different customer service phone number and (marginally) better customer service...to keep riff raff out (that would be all the other people stupid enough to use vodafail) they block normal customers phone numbers. So if you inadvertently call the (very marginally) better team it says number not available. So as the business owner the only way I could call the dynamic duffers staffing vodafail was to dial 1831 To hide my number then call customer "service" (lol.) of course the two dynamic teams don't talk to each other and after nearly an hour more of time attempting to add the soho account to my corporate one u gave up. I moved to Optus. ..... And Wow! I can get reception!!!! My calls drop about 90% less often!!!

Buy vodafail weren't finished with me. Oh no, even after moving to Optus vodafail still kept skewing up. How? Well they keep a special list of vodafone customers (ie gullible folks) so anyone calling from a vodafone sees this list, well they kept my number of the vodafone customer list but moved the account. Result anyone calling from a vodafone got 'number not available' ah can thus company get ANYTHING right. What a bunch of f-wits.

F-wits who are sooooo quick to screw customers over. Anyone travel on vodafail? Beware!!!!!! they have 2 tariffs "f^% you over" and "just really expensive". I think they call them world traveller and traveller plus. Anyway the screw you over tariff is the default and it's incredably expensive for just about everywhere you want To go, new Zealand, us, europe, Asia etc . Screw you over tariff is cheaper on popular detonations like Zimbabwe and somalia etc....get the picture. You know how thus ends a call to vodafail customer service sets you up to travel and after 2 days in new Zealand I get back with an 800 dollar bill !!! Oh and I was using vodafail nz there too. And the network is just as bad. Anyway watch out for it, their customer service folks are trained to pit you onto screw you over tariff.

Can you believe these cheaky a$$$ holes actually call me up as each of my contracts comea up to expirey. After years of f%^#*ing me over they seriously expect us to re-sign.

It's NOT just reception. The entire organization is rotten to the core with a culture of pulling the wool over customers eyes.

THANK YOU VODAFAIL

At last a place where we can tell the world the reality of being a vodafone customer.

11706 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is colossal at 10 Jan 2011 11:59:42 AM
Like so many, I have experienced the same things, lost calls, lost texts, calls going straight to voicemail even though I had full reception at the time...

I've had periods (lasting for up 2 days) when my email and internet will not work... full stop.

I have had issues since approx August, but didn't complain as they were pretty rare and they weren't interfering too much.

It was only in late November that the issues turned annoying and more frequent.

I visited 3 stores in 2 cities, I did sim checks but they seemed more interested in fixing the handset (in spite of my putting my sim into a different phone for 24 hours and having the same result) or getting me to pay for a new iPhone...

So I called VF for the first time on Dec 2, reported the issues... then again when I wasn't called back on Dec 6, then Dec 12, 16, and 31. I called on Jan 4 to speak to tech people to launch an investigation... I was told that I would be called the next day... then when they didn't call back by 9am on the 6th, I made a complaint with the TIO.

I then called VF again and told them that I wanted this settled quickly and painlessly for everyone, and after being on the phone for 2 hours with tech support I refused to talk to them again. They then said, and I quote "someone will call you within 24 hours to sort out how this can be settled"... no phone call on 7 Jan...

Then today, 10 Jan, after pestering the customer service person, I was put through to the cancellations area... probably not who I should have been put through to... I got a bit of a shock when told that the only record they had of my complaining about coverage was on Dec 2... so they considered this to be 'out of the blue, and just complaining about it now', then suggested that I shouldn't be listening to 'media hype'... I was then told to give three specific events of problems - as if I keep all my records?

I didn't appreciate the tone or attitude, I was told I could leave my contract but the exit fees of $495 would not be waived.

I spoke to the TIO to add this information...

I'm tired of this, wasting my time... I just want to leave...
10 Jan 2011 01:18:45 PM: That is terrible, I can't believe that was their response!
11 Jan 2011 02:25:13 PM: Vodaphone told me to replace my handset too. But I had to pay for it outright or break my contract for $827. So I bought a new handset outright, GUESS WHAT, didnt fix the problem. I think they should reimburse me for the handset I DIDN'T need.
16 Jan 2011 12:31:16 PM: This extremely convenient faulty record keeping of Vodafone's needs a lot more scrutiny- it could be why their pals at the TIO treat them so kindly.

11695 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is full of stupid excuses and ridiculous 'solutions' at 10 Jan 2011 11:31:55 AM
I have had TERRIBLE reception for several months now. It seems text messages take longer and longer to go through every time, and I often have to reattempt sending them as they won't go through. I often can't call people and get 'Connection Error' messages and it takes several attempts to get through. Calls often go straight to Voicemail without my phone even ringing, and I find myself switching my phone on and off several times a day to fix issues with my mobile internet browsing. I called Vodafone to discuss the issue, and they suggested it was probably my handset reception issues and I should get an upgrade (and a new 24 month contract). Yeah right!

The woman in the upgrades section was much more honest and said that's probably not advisable, but said for anything to be done I had to complete a questionaire with approximately 25 questions, including a record of at least 3 calls being dropped mid-conversation within a 72 hour period (hard to do when you can't make calls at all half the time), who I was calling, where I was, etc. I had to try my SIM in another phone, try someone else's SIM in my phone... and after I had done all of this, MAYBE in 6 weeks someone would come and have a look at the tower near my house and if they found anything wrong, they MIGHT be able to arrange some sort of discount off my plan. Are you joking...?
16 Jan 2011 12:36:08 PM: No, that is how Vodafone has been allowed to conduct business for some time now.
Picking one "little person" like you off, one by one, under cover.
Aided and abetted by the smokescreen of the industry funded TIO.

My phone reception has been ridiculous the last few months. Everytime someone tries to called me it says my phone is off or out of range.
Everytime i try to call Vodafone i get a person overseas and then get cut off when they supposedly transfer me back to Australia.
I didn't sign up to deal with people overseas.. i may need to find a carrier who provides customer service in Australia.

11690 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is exponential at 10 Jan 2011 11:22:10 AM
I expressed my concern about lack of coverage in Tasmania when Vodafone approached me about renewing my contract 16 months ago. I was assured by the customer service representative that a new tower would be installed by April last year. The coverage in the state is still appalling. We also have a holiday home in Kiama, NSW south coast. I can only get coverage if standing on a stool in the kitchen. In this 21st century its just NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Speaking to a consultant in Egypt with time delay and language barrier is hopeless. I've vowed to change to Testra as soon as my contract has expried - and I hate Testra - but it has to be better than this!! I wish Apple would start up a mobile phone service provider - their after sales support is fantastic!!

For the person who wrote the following:

YOU ALL COMPLAIN!
VODAFONE IS CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER AND THATS WHY IM WITH THEM.
IVE HAD PROBLEMS AND I HAD THE BEST OF.
IF YOU FOLLOW THE PROMPTS AND DO WHAT YOUR TOLD WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS IT WOULD ALL GET SORTED INSTEAD THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY IS YOU WANT THINGS FIXED STRAIGHT AWAY!!!

VODAFONE IS NOT OUT TO GET YOU
(AND THE GUY THAT MADE THIS SITE, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE TODAY)
GO TO TELSTRA AND PAY 3TIMES MORE JUST TO GET A BIT MORE SERVICE.

NO ONE SAYS HOW VODAFONE A SPENDING 500MILLION ON THERE COVERAGE AND THATS WHY THERE A SMALL PROBLEMS NOW ..

Are you serious??
Are you the Vodafone CEO??
Constant Dropouts,terrible recption,slow data download..
If i sign up for a 24 month contract i expect a service that is firstly as advertised, secondly as per the contract i signed..
I did not sign up for a 50 minute wait on the phone when i wish to query a bill,or do i need to call someone 2 or 3 times because of dropouts and recption issues.
AND NO ITS NOT MY PHONE that has the issue because every phone make and model does the same thing with Vodafone.....
If vodafone listened to their customers and worked to resolve there complaints all of us would not be in this position.
Regards,
EXTREMELY UNHAPPY
10 Jan 2011 11:14:43 AM: im with you on that one (the reply)
10 Jan 2011 11:28:35 AM: Yes im Serious and no im not.
So when you signed up you were promised, what?
Super fast data, no drop outs ever? best service ever? and speak to someone on straight away when you call?
all im saying is customers are never happy. nothing is ever good enough and all you do is complain.
Not just with vodafone but any big company, in retail, you all think your so hard done by.
Its stupid, go to telstra and then you will complain its so expensive, take it all away and you would cry,

THERE IS REASON SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN BUT YOU ALL ARE %2 THE REST SAY GOOD THINGS.
"i expect a service" you would be one type of person who makes a purchase in a retail store and stamps there feet if there is a line

Im not the CEO im just not dont expect people to be robots and i bet you never researched why there are problems with the reception before you wrote in?
10 Jan 2011 02:00:56 PM: You sound like one of their staff members on the phone though. "Im not the CEO im just not dont expect..."
In all seriousness the company must be accountable for this mess, it's not good enough and customers have a right to air their grievances.
10 Jan 2011 02:52:50 PM: You have no idea, I moved to telstra after being with vodafone for 10 years. Telstra is fairly competitive these days, not to mention there customer service has improved heaps. Since i moved last month, haven't had any issues. But keep hearing about the issues from my mates still with vodafone. Optus is cheap and you dont see the same issue with them do you?

Big Companies dont do anything unless there decent amount of media attention. Cheers to the guy that made the site.

11679 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is annoying at 10 Jan 2011 10:52:35 AM
I have made the mistake of going onto a pre-paid contract. It seems as though vodafone don't take my complaints seriously as they already have my business. I ve been having problems connecting to the web-site and thus e-mails, and this is the main reason I upgraded my phone to a sony xperia. I keep getting told it either a problem with vodafone 'upgrading' or my actual phone. Frequently I can't get any coverage at all, and no 'data'.

I never really had any problems with vodafone before 3G, its like they just can't handle it.

I wish i was more of a pushy person, as i find it very hard to confront salespeople with the difficulties I'm stuck with and the 1555 is exhaustingly difficult to get to someone who can help me.
The most scary stuff has been when I have been overcharged or by the wrong amount.

Unhappy,

J
10 Jan 2011 11:03:24 AM: I meant to write POST PAID...
I feel that had I been someone who could easily change to another provider ,that I might have had more attention. Vodafone have given me noithing but strife and even living in Wollongong there are so many places I can't get any reception at all.
10 Jan 2011 11:05:47 AM: You don't have to put up with it just because you are in a contract. Contracts work both ways. Check out the 'how to complain' page for who to contact. If you are not getting the service you are paying for then you should be able to get out without being charged.

11678 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No reception, no battery life, delayed in pricing issues at 10 Jan 2011 10:50:46 AM
My partner and i have been customers of vodafone for nearly 5 years now and you'd think after that time that you'd be considered as a valued customer.
First major issue is the reception, i have none! I am in the middle of Sydney and had to go buy a telstra phone so i could get reception. Second issue is that i asked the nice Indian vodafone lady to change my credit card details to a new card, i gave them the details and they said they had changed it for me. 3 MONTHS had gone by and i get a text (this was the only text i had received) from vodafone saying my account is 3 months overdue and was now up to $500 with 3 dishonour fees. I rang them up straight away and found out that my credit card details were my old details, that in fact were not changed as i was told. I told the Indian guy that and in more or less words was told tough! then i was inquiring as to why it took 3 months for someone to inform my account was overdue, he's reply was "you got a text"! All he could do for me is take $20 off for 1 dishonour fee.
My partner and i have 6 months left on our contracts, it can't come soon enough! in the meanwhile, we have both bought Telstra sim cards and use the vodafone on the rare occasion when we get reception!

11676 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is no longer with them, but still being billed at 10 Jan 2011 10:37:54 AM
Hi, i went on a voda plan in 2008, i ended up paying out the contract in march 2010 because of poor coverage and constant drop out; plus the phone i got on contract broke and i labelled it just another dodgy voda product. but late last year i recieved a text saying (i kept my number and moved to a different provider) my bill had been sent to email but had bounced back so i should expect a bill in the mail and be aware of the $2 postage fee... i rang them and learned i actually had a credit, it took over 6 weeks to recive the credit back... but have just recieved another text stating i need to update my email address on the system and to expect another bill in the mail...
i havent been with them since march 2010 and my contract was due to expire in mnay/2010 anwnyway...
just another example of this corporate getting it wrong - good luck with the case.
i am a little concerned now that if they are still texting me then my contact details are still on their database, which we learned thru the media could be being onsold or stolen by fraudsters.. can anyone tell me how i can check this and have my details destroyed by voda?

I had a prepay phone for awhile in Melbourne - when calling Vodafail I was often on hold to speak to a human (which took an eternity)only for the call to drop out when I was being transferred to the appropriate person. Since moving to Sydney both my partner and I have post paid accounts to get the new Iphone 4. My partner works in the CBD and coverage is a frequent problem - great way to impress his customers hang up on them mid-sentence?? Coverage is an even bigger problem in our unit. I had the fun job of doing the change of address calls including being on hold for many minutes to utility companies. Once again at a crucial time in the call it would drop - very frustrating.

PASSWORD RESETS and the PRIVACY ISSUE:

A short while back I was locked out of Vodafone. Had to phone the 'friggin' call centre and go on hold for hours (again).

They said they would reset my password, but SURPRISE SURPRISE my new password was now 6 digits not 4 as previously.

I'm convinced that Vodaphone changed the network to require 6 not 4 digit passwords and that caused me and thousands of others to be locked out.

I had done nothing to cause me to be locked out. Eg entering wrong passwords.

Why did they do this? After reading the news of the PRIVACY BREECH of Vodafone customer data it is not hard to put two and two together.

QUESTION: To those of you who also got locked out - Did your password change from 4 to 6 digits. If it did I think we need to start to collate evidence on this issue to add to the class action.

I have been a Vodafone pre-pay customer for 8 years, until August when I decided to move to post-pay so that I could get an iphone 4. And, then, the problems started...

Initially I believe that my issues were related to my phone, so Apple swapped my phone out. The issues were fixed for a couple of days, and then everything returned to the normal unacceptable service.

My 3G is so slow I don't even use it, every time I make a call it seems to drop out or people can't hear me. Voicemail doesn't even seem to work no matter how many times I set it up. Unless I actually call 121, I will never know if I have a voicemail.

People seem to be unable to call me even if they are standing next to me and I have full bars of service.

I have contacted VFAU by email to complain about this and try and understand how they will resolve this.

My husband and I both run our own businesses. We both had our previous mobiles replaced by Vodafone because we thought they were damaged. The calls kept dropping out. The situation has got worse with both our relatively new mobiles. We now realise it's a reception problem and would like to get out of our contracts to enable us to use another carrier.

Waited on for Vodafone for 40 mins the other day on 1555 and call dropped out.
I've had at least 7 dropouts or people who can't hear me already this morning and it's only 11.40am

So frustrating. No-one can hear me. We are based in Newcastle so it's not like we're in the backwater somewhere. Unless we stand in a particular spot in our home, no-one can hear us.

I have Just resigned with vodafone for the 3rd time for another 24mth contract as i have always been a happy customer. UNfortunately since having the new n97mini I have had nothing but trouble with the phone, reception and trying to get any customer service in regards to either of these issue in particular from the tea tree plaza vodafone went in there 3 times waiting over 20min and couldn't even get a staff member to acknowledge me. I live at modbury heights in adelaide and i can't even get reception at my home> i don't have a home phone so this is very inconvient. regardless i am looking at changing companies.

I joined Vodafone in December 2010 porting 12 phone numbers from 3G due to poor reception and continuous dropping out of calls. The Sales Rep that I spoke to assured me that the issue was due to the two services amalgamating and issues regarding the integration of services. I run an accommodation support service for people who have a disability and it is essential that we have reliable communications to ensure the welfare of our residents. Since joining Vodafone I had one telephone that did not work on delivery. We have constant call drop outs and my Nurse Advisor who missed several urgent calls relating to one of our residents who had to be admitted to hospital receive text messages four days after they had been sent.
My Service Coordinator has today told me that she was waiting for information regarding the medical condition of one of our residents yeasterday (Sunday) and after making a call to the house was told that the staff had been trying to get her during the afternoon to no avail. An enquiry to Vodafone confirmed that her number was out of service and not receiving a signal.
I have now left a mesage with the Sales Rep to call me as I will be seeking termination of our five week old contract.
10 Jan 2011 12:14:54 PM: Good luck on a simply appalling service by Vodafone. Suggest you look at the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, go directly to the TIO if required, don't delay on this one.......people's well being is at risk.

1.Account woes. VF not following instructions and doing 'their own thing. Ongoing: cannot use my handset as they have inadvertently, once again, terminated the service, despite clear instructions that did not include or mention "termination of existing" but ADDING a number/servive to my plan.My God! They are hopeless!
2. Cannot try as I may, through various methods to contact VF , get to speak with anyone. Calls are terminated whilst on hold. VF obviously cannot afford decent phone facilities to handle inbound.
3. Coverage and dropouts. Numerous call drop outs and absolutely pathetic download speed - just not worthwhile bothering to use internet - its so slow.
4.Privacy breach : not able to get details as to whether my details have been compromised as I have received spam mail with specific details perhaps linked to my VF account.

Made a TIO complaint on 1 Jan 2011. (At 3.37 pm they (TIO) numbered my complaint 11/000077, ie 77 complaints by 3.37 on 1 January, mostly Vodafone I expect.) I was called by Rex of Vodafone this am. Recorded whole conversation, in which he admitted that Vodafone have severe bandwidth problems on the Central Coast where I live, and terminated two contracts, mine and my wife's, after 7 months of 24 months. I retained the HTC Magic handsets, which we like, for $100 each, bargained down from his joke 'offer' of $250. Also discussed the fact that Vodafone were effectively committing fraud by signing up suckers, at Bateau Bay Village Vodafone shop, and over the internet, as we spoke, for a service which he directly stated to me that their system could not provide in this area.
We also discussed, for the taped record, that five of the eight accounts I have received were in error, by 70% to over 400%, always in vodafone's favour, and that it took over ten hours of my $150 per hour chargeable time to get them corrected. He had the accounts in front of him, as we spoke, and agreed that they were plainly in error, and should never have been sent.
My experience indicates that there is strong circumstantial evidence that Vodafone, as currently configured, (with misleading advertising, and admitted incapable network, a disfunctional support, service, and dispute 'resolution' system), is effectively a massive fraud perpetration system aimed at extracting money from the Australian people.
10 Jan 2011 09:37:57 AM: Me again, Forgot to say that they also refunded last three monthly contract payments, since Rex agreed that the service was not being provided (on tape). Everybody going through the TIO process, to terminate their contract, should start with a minimum negotiating position of 3 months refund, and, of course, no payout, except for something reasonable, but slanted your way on the handset. Find out what yours is going for on ebaY, used, and offer half that, then move up a little.

cheers, (I feel better now!)

11647 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is It's gotten worse at 10 Jan 2011 08:54:25 AM
Apart from the Reception Issues, I'd like to point out that they have an issue with their billing that is outrageous.
If your call is dropped, and you make the call immediately again, you are charged the minimum call charge plus the flag fall for the failed call and then obviously charged again for the second call.
Unless you are on an unlimited plan, these minimum charges sometimes push your call limits over your monthly cap!

If a call is dropped and you call back the same number within seconds, you should not have to pay the flag fall.
At the same time, if you do call back the exact same number, the times should be added so that you don't pay two lots of additional 30 second blocks at the end of the calls.
Also finally, if the call only lasts for 5 seconds (failed call) it should not be charged for at all!
We are being forced to pay for UNLIMITED plans when we really cannot afford them!

i have been a vodafone customer for years also, and never have i had any problems with my coverage etc UNTIL i changed over from prepaid to plan...coincidence?...the only reason i have not YET left vodafone is because my contract is not up until next month (thank god for that) and i need to keep the number as i have had it for years. i am EXTREMELY upset at the fact there are so many people with access to my information online. yes, it might be employees blah blah but how do you know THEY are not putting it out there for the poublic - which is exactly what seems to be the problem at hand.
gotta tell you it sucks to be me right now, i have paid my bills etc and have only one month left so no point even getting out of this contract. maybe compensation to us all would be a fairer option...as even if everyone cancelled their contracts now - the information is STILL going to be there for all to see.....time to close up shop i think voda....mongrels.
i too also expect some sort od aknowgledgement that my comment has been received.
so vodafone....do you have a solution for this? or do we customers all need to band together and file a class action suit against vodafone for damages done?

11645 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worst Customer Service Since One Tel. at 10 Jan 2011 08:46:16 AM
The first bill they sent me was 120 overcharged in three days as somehow I didn't receive any included cap. It took 5 hours with various cut outs from customer service to finally get to speak too someone. I am now in a battle to find out what happened to my purchase of the new Iphone 4 which was signed up over the phone some 5 weeks ago. I attempted to speak to vodafone last night and was disconnected 3 times whilst on hold to customer service at 29 mins, 36 minutes and the best was at 42.32 minutes. I actually got to speak to someone briefly. The conservation went welcome to Vodafone can I have your name please. I stated Paul then the call went dead. Not hung up just silence I waited a couple of minutes but got nothing. I have been on hold today for 47 minutes so far but at least haven't dropped out yet. I am a new customer only attempting to find out where the purchase of my phone is. I am lucky I live in Geelong and so far the network has been fairly good. At least better then 3. I am shocked that Vodafone is allowed to operate and is given a telecommunications licence in this country when their service is appalling. Our toothless tiger the TIO should be jumping up and down at the shoddy wait times and pathetic network problems. The only other company I have had this service with was the defunct One Tel which was around in the late 90's. Well done on the creator of this site.

I have had massive data useage recently. I have had to to manually switch on & off my data connection/synchronisation on applications (HTC magic) as failed attempts to download files/email has caused massive re-attempts and excess data usage.

I receive robotic messages from Vodafone with nonsensical messages. I have never been contacted back after attempts to contact them.

Iphone users, are you aware that the iphones are primarily designed to work on Quad Band networks? Telstra Next G is the only quad band network in Australia. The iphone uses 3g (aka Tri band) that Optus and Vodafone provide as a back up system only. Using 3G forces the iphone to use alot more battery power to get signal.
If you're lucky enough like I was to have vodafone cancel your contract, sus out telstra, their plans are competitive with vodafone, same cost, just a little less data but your battery life will double, and even if you only have 1 or 2 bars of signal, you'll still get a really clear call on quad band!
10 Jan 2011 01:21:36 PM: Apple iPhone 3G and 3G 3 is 2100/850mhz 3G compatible
Apple iPhone 4 is 850/900/1900/2100mhz 3G compatible

Vodafone use 2100mhz in capital cities for 3G services and is bringing on line a 850mhz 3G network in mainland cities some of which is already in place.

In regional areas Voda use 900 mhz for 3G.

As a consequence the iPhone 4 should in theory be compatible with all the Voda 3G networks while the Apple iPhone 3G and 3G will only be compatible with Voda city 3G networks.

I have been a Vodafone customer for over 10 years. For the last 12 months service has been really bad with constant dropouts. My message to VF, till when?
Till when ill have my parents trying to call me from overseas, with no reply from my side.
Till when ill have to spend tens of dollars calling 3-4 times for a call that was enough to be done in one call?
I have advertised my car for sell over 2 weeks ago, i cant prove it, but im starting to suspect that buyers are trying to call me = no reception.

I cannot make or receive calls from inside my home or front the front or back yards. Totally unacceptable coverage. I am one year into a 2 year service agreement. The reported security breach regarding customer details just adds insult to injury. Surely Vodafone are in breach of the Trade Practices Act? They certainly appear to have breached their own privacy policy. My legal advice is that I can unilaterally cancel my contract because they are in breach of same. First off, I signed up for a HTC legend on a $29 cap, and it was supposed to come with monthly 1GB free internet but this didn't happen. I was only getting 50mb a month, which led to my bills being way more than it should be. This was never resolved.

Secondly, upon purchasing and signing up I tried to log onto the vodafone website to manage my account online. It didn't work, and it seemed as if my number had already been registered. This took about a week to resolve after visits to vodafone stores and phone calls and online help.

Thirdly, I keep getting messages and calls looking for people who I presume; used to have this number.

Fourthly, just recently, reception has been nothing but fail. It started a couple of weeks ago where I had no reception for a couple of hours on a saturday. Now my messages struggle to get sent, people cannot seem to call me even when my reception bar is almost full, etc etc.

Lastly, I hear my information is very readily available to others due to Vodafone's poor security.

I feel that we deserve at least some sort of compensation, or termination of my plan.

***********PRIVACY WARNING**********

Without releasing the personals details of others I have been waiting for the right opportunity to expose a certain event I have experienced on the Vodafone Network. Yes I have all the regular problems, drop outs, poor reception even in prime locations, connection delays and so on. But the most concerning of all issues was my recent experience with voicemail. I have been on multiple occasions listening to my voicemail box to retrieve my messages and the most absurd thing happened. I began to hear messages which had nothing to do with me, in fact after listening for a while I discovered I was somehow patched into Vodafones message server and I was being streamed message after message which belonged to almost anyone and everyone. I was able to record details of individuals, their personal lifes, contacts and who they were talking to. Everything from the average joe to local politicians. After this occurred I began to freak out, what if others can hear my messages, what if this error has occurred before. While I waited sometime thinking to myself what to do about this it happened again. Another call to voicemail and instead of my messages endless playback of message after message belonging to everyone else. This only stopped when I decided to hang up and no input controls such as delete or skip message would work.

VERY VERY VERY SCARY.

There are more instalments to this saga, including vodafone's denial and ignorant responses, unfortunately at this stage I will have to post that later.
Also want to point out, vodafone have poorly managed their merger with the three network, their reception is extremely bad when compared to both Optus and Telstra, internet service is very poor both speed and reception wise. DO NOT USE VODAFONE.

There are many poor people in the world, people dying all over the world, floods happening all over & so many natural causes. Why don't people invest their time in that & help the disadvantage people of the world.

Just have a think about that.

Peace be with you all.

10 Jan 2011 12:25:27 AM: Obiously you have not had important messages from family suffering delivered to you a WEEK later not poor coverage from your home...buddy!
10 Jan 2011 01:39:01 AM: Vodafone is clearly in breach of the Trade Practices Act and should be sanctioned for it. They entered into service agreements with customers after representing to customers that they provided service coverage in customer areas of interest. Clearly this has not been the case for many customers. Vodafone thus behaved in a manner that was/is misleading and deceptive, or likely to be misleading and/or deceive, and thus has breached the Trade Practices Act. Customers may thus cancel their contracts unilaterally because the contract was entered into under false pretenses under the part of Vodafone.
10 Jan 2011 10:09:43 AM: what.. ur a idiot. it wasnt ONE DAY read the comments before u go on ur rant, this is months/years of shit. maybe i could of donated the $250 vodafone overcharged me and refused to refund?
10 Jan 2011 10:52:54 AM: I agree. Since joining Vodafone in December 2010 I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The service, coverage, etc has been excellent and I have had no problems with delivery of txt msgs, call dropouts, or download speeds. Billing was correct and my iphone is awesome. I realise there seem to be a number of people having problems but if there are all these issues with Vodafone's network etc, why are some having issues and others are not? Surely it should be the same for everybody!

I had one of those 24month contract for wireless internet. I live in Camberwell, which is only an 11min drive to the CBD. In those 24months I barely got one bar, never got more than 10mins on the net before it crashed, when I called them (after waiting for almost 30mins) they argued with me and told me i was in a full-coverage area!!!!
They didnt believe me, how arrogant......
Anyway I kept my head down and saw out the contract, My god it was party time on the very last day of that contract...
My advice "WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW NEVER TO SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE"

SmS's that don't send or ones that take days to be received....absolute shit!!!

11572 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception bad at 9 Jan 2011 09:53:04 PM
Grr...just bought a book via Kindle for my iPad and whammo, reception is dropped, again. Then I get a page telling me I have to recharge. That is dishonest, it should be a page to say their network has collapsed again instead of trying to get more money out of us. I'll have to resort to physical book and squint. These outages are occuring for a couple of hours a day. Do we get a refund.
10 Jan 2011 02:39:34 AM: Yes, the prepaid iPad SIM cost zero dollars.

11570 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is horribly FAIL! on every level at 9 Jan 2011 09:51:48 PM
my details were accessed by a voda employee; phone number and password changed. when investigation was done by the Vodafone, apparently staff did not know that they could not do whatever they feel like to people's contracts and accounts. NOT ACCEPTABLE! SIMPLE COMMON SENSE ?!? I spent 3 days in the vodafone trying to figure ou what on earth was happening to my business number. + the usual monthly network fall out and data service often drops out in the CBD area.

It takes 4-5 days to get voicemails through and can take up to 5 mins to load my emails. Not very happy. I travel a lot through North Queensland and there are so many towns that have no reception at all, though I have reception on the highway, go figure. Also, I can't use the 3G network as it simply does not work in Townsville. What is the point of having the 3G network if it doesn't work? The other day my fiancee called my phone and on his end, it rang; on my end, not even a missed call.

I have been on a contract with vodafail since may 2010 and the issues have been endless. to start i live in metro ACT and the coverage is useless, i don't even have service at my house... second my number keeps getting called from different locations all over Australia, a wire cross over or something and forget talking to someone about it they just kept handing me off to the next useless person. The internet is painful to use and they wont cover anything under the extended warranty i took out and pay extra for various stupid reasons Even know the sales person told me it covered everything)and now this confidence breach, you have to be kidding me. We are people not just $$$ i think even pathetic 'Lara' could even understand that.
Not impressed! I want out!

11562 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is epic fail at 9 Jan 2011 08:58:10 PM
Vodafone used to be reputable and a great carrier.... in the past year or so I have encountered a lot of issues with network coverage. It takes ages to load internet on the 3G network and calls are constantly dropping out. They have all the time and money in the world to support a cricket team but cannot even service their clients.

I am disgusted and worried about the media speculation about the leaking of customers information and find it appuling that their functionality to send a complaint/email via their website has been removed. I have called 1555 and there is a automated message at the begining of the call stating that 'Vodafone values their customers and stores information safely'. i did not get a clear indication from this message if the information had been accessed by unsavoury characters in our community... I then waited on hold for 45 mins (i know it was stupid waiting that long). before i gave up. Communication FAIL from VODAFAIL. There is also a pathetic attempt of an explanation on their website which yet again is unclear .

Thank goodness i got out of my vodafail contract by pretending i already had it approved and was told to send the phone back! I was in Melbourne and reception was ok but then moved to Bendigo and it was hopeless even though they told me it was fine the calls would drop out constantantly and using the internet was painful. You may be cheap vodafail but its not worth it when you caant make a call and you cant even talk to a real person - Lara needs to be put to rest. The vodafail shops in Bendigo and Shepparton have both closed down - a sign of things to come...........

I had been a long-term 3 customer and didnt have too many problems with them at all. When i went for a phone upgrade, I was encouraged to jump on the Vodafone network, as they had already bought 3 out.
It was ridiculous, but i had to go through all of the security checks then and there, and waited for 1.5 hours for what was essentially a phone upgrade with the same company!
For the 2 months that i have been with Vodafail, my calls constantly drop out (i'm in Brisbane southside), and have a very low opinion of the company.
I'm also willing to blame Vodafail for the Australian cricket team doing so poorly...after all, they have just become major sponsor!

No coverage in my house. It's raining all the time so I have to go out and stand in the rain to make calls. Internet on my phone only works when it takes it's fancy. I keep getting very big bills that I know I could not have possibly ran up with out constantly calling international. Every time I go in store to talk to someone they tell me I have to call the customer care number which I sit on for a hour trying to talk to someone but never get anywhere. My sister and a friend are having the same problem and my sister keeps getting charged twice for bills as they say she hasn't paid which is absolute rubbish and they won't help her or listen to her. Absolute rubbish!!!!
9 Jan 2011 09:03:53 PM: Just to make it clear I live just outside Brisbane CBD. Also in regards to my last 2 bills being massive I have no been using my phone anymore or any less than I use to yet my bills have been close to $300 more than what they have supposed to have been. I only text and call friends and I'm 100% that I do not owe this money. Will be complaining to TIO as I know I am right. VODAFAIL says it all!!!

My "free" data isnt used until my actually credit runs out so if want to check my emails i get charged for the data usage even though 4 times ive been to 3 different voda shops and to get it looked into and get told the same rubbish.
Ive called numorus times to the call centres, waste of time.
And like everybody else my reception is crap at the best of times and 3G basically doesnt exsist anymore.
Vodafone, advice: get ya stuff fixed, dont leave everybody in the dark and most of all dont have your friggin call centres overseas. Youve lost a customer.

11550 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Extreme! at 9 Jan 2011 08:19:02 PM
I had a Vodafone broadband bundle with usb on a 24 month contract, was only able to use it about 8 times. Rarely got signal both here and down south where the networks are supposedly 'better'. When i eventually did get some form of connection it was at Dial-Up speed!! and then after 5 minutes the signal was just dropped anyway. Contacted Vodafone on many occasions to try and get a solution but they just told me it was a problem with the area i was in (even tho i have a notebook and am in all sorts of areas all the time!!!) When my plan was finally over and i could finally stop wasting money on something that was useless, i had to ring them and deal with almost an hour of a customer service rep trying to sell me the 'new wifi' thing that will make reception 'so much better' NO THANKS!!!! Would love my money back for the 24 months of unused internet at $49.95 a month!!! Ha a 5gb Limit that i was never going to reach because i would never be able to connect to the internet!!!
SO BUYER BEWARE DON'T GET ANY VODAFONE INTERNET PLANS!!!
10 Jan 2011 06:40:53 PM: What internet plans, they can't organize customer service plans, so us vodafone used and abused don't have a hope in hell!

11539 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is try working with them at 9 Jan 2011 07:55:42 PM
ok all carriers have issues...but heres my point from being someone who used to work in the industry.
one yes the call centre support number is crap simce it moved from tassie some years ago.
the systems they use siebel is crap constantly failing. it failed for months when first released.
previous systems were so easy to use

Staff in the telco industry hate calling dealer support as they are hard to hear and yes they dont speak english well....
please remember the staff in the telco industry dont make the issues it usually is the network as a issue we understand and share your pain.

accessing personal info yes it has a web portal and only vodafone store have full access to billing calls ecetera.

VHA as they want to be known have people who dont know vodafones systems trying to help stores as they are brought from three (hutch)
The amount of information from vodafone and training is rubbish there training material is incomplete and has a massive issue with too much unecessary information.
other carriers have very easy to follow and easy to see any issues when processing conections.

words of advice
go through the confirmation with the staff and get all the relevant brochures regarding you plan and make sure the staff know what they are talking about they are the professional and should know this information inside and out.
a easy way is to ask them if they are on the ball ask them call rates and flagfall and txt and pxt msg costs if they know this then you have staff who are knowledgeable with the plans and network.
(confirmation of understanding is something you sign to say you understand all the terms call rates and what you have applied for make sure the copy is given to you)

2nd buy a prepaid sim to check coverage or get a month by month account one you can cancel at anytime to check the reliability of the network

3 if you cant check on you current providers phone select network select manual search and see what names come up

4 ask about what happens if i get no coverage as you are signing up.
as other carriers have a satisfaction guarantee.
10 Jan 2011 02:44:37 AM: Do other carriers also have Seibel training seeing as how they use the SAME system?

i.e. Telstra and Optus.
11 Jan 2011 06:33:55 PM: I love our Mumbai brothers and sisters. Some are even my friends on Facebook. The ending to this post is similar to advice I've given earlier. I love the extra perspectives. Good post mate.
