Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8 Jan 2011 08:14:39 AM: I was recently in Hat Head (and im from Newcastle as well)

11067 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed Miserably at 7 Jan 2011 11:36:40 AM
After 14 years with Vodafone (yes I have had the patience of a saint) I have just churned to Telstra. After moving jobs to North Sydney, and finding that my reception was OFF more than ON thru November, resulting in so many missed calls, and questions of "Why was your phone off it just goes straight to vmail" I decided enough was enough. Even being on the top floor of a building did not help Voda's USELESS reception. They have the audacity to charge me churn fee for the remaining three months of my 24 month contract - one which they did not honour becauise they couldn't offer me a service

11064 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ...almost in tears at 7 Jan 2011 11:17:27 AM
I'm a pretty persistent and patient person but this is completely beyond the joke now and I am ready to give up.

After complaining about the lack of reception and missing texts I have now spent two days trying to "accept an offer" they made to me to keep me with their company. (They offered me a discounted new plan for 24month period).

I decided to take the offer but I cannot believe how many times in 2 days (I've seriously lost count) that I've called, how many times its cut out, how many times I've been put on hold, then transfered, then been called back by them, put on hold immediately after and so forth. I was just transfered again only to get some guy overseas who has absolutely no idea what I'm on about and had the nerve to be snippy about it and try re transfer me to someone else - instead he has put me on hold again. This has been a 40 minute call and counting.....OH wow, now it's just cut out and I've been hung up on.

So they've made me an offer to stay around and it's been absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to accept it!

Calling Optus now.

7 Jan 2011 11:46:20 AM: I have had the same experience. FYI i have now churned to optus and have needed to call them only twice in three months. both times, the phone rang three rings and a human answered the call, helped me with my issue and that was that.. vodafone need to be held accountable for their actions. optus are infinitely better at customer service.
9 Jan 2011 06:21:54 PM: Yep I too have now signed up with Optus - yayy!!!

I (stupidly) tried to give Vodafone a second chance but it was impossible to accept their 'renewed discounted contract'.

Worst service I've ever encountered in my life.

11063 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Absolutely Dodgy at 7 Jan 2011 11:14:24 AM
I am on a $39.95 data plan. I cannot connect from all the places i am to their Network. When it connects the connection drops out in 5 minutes. I finish my contract in May 2011 and Vodafone does not let me go. They are forcing me to be on the plan until contract is finished. Frustrating and Helpless!!
7 Jan 2011 01:28:04 PM: When in doubt give the TIO a shout :)

In other words, check out the how to complain link at the top of this page :D

11061 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very! at 7 Jan 2011 11:10:55 AM
I have been having issues for ages with Vodafone, but it has only been the last week or so that i've realised how bad it is.
Sometimes it can take up to 2/3 days to receive text messages ive been sent.
Just this morning (7th) i received 3 messages that were sent to me on the 3rd, 4th and 5th...that is up to 4 days!!
That is totally unacceptable.
And not to mention my mobile internet...the coverage is shit...takes ages for the pages to load.
I've always been a big fan of Vodafone...but not any more...!

11060 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The wort MVO i have seen globally at 7 Jan 2011 11:07:23 AM
After being a loyal Vodafone user in Australia and the UK now for 8 years I am disgusted in the service and performance of the network and the services Vodafone provide. I have worked for many MNO (Mobile network Operators) within the UK and Australia and have not see this level of poor capacity and service quality planning in a provider in all the years I have been working in the industry. I am sick of Vodafones responses to the blatantly obvious network and capacity issues they are experiencing!

I have just re-signed a contract with Vodafone 5 months ago to which I have been in communications with Vodafone to leave due to thier discusting service they have been providing thier customers in the last 7 - 10 months.

Vodafone - We are all Sick of it, Man up and tell the public the full extent of the issues, offer an exit for contracted customers and you might just save some of your already tainted image.

11052 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is I am going insane at 7 Jan 2011 10:32:47 AM
I have days where my mobile phone will have no reception for the majority of the time. Then when I have full reception and am on a call it will drop out for no reason. Perhaps a fly went by.

When I am using the mobile broadband, (which has improved somewhat over the last couple of months), it will suddenly drop down to zero transmission rate. However, even when it is supposed to be giving excellent transmission, I can't send or receive an email that is only 44kb.

It took me two hours two get mobile phone reception so that I could call Vodafone to complain and then it dropped out mid-call.

Now there is the smpt server fail which went on for weeks and I couldn't send one freaking email. Then when it seems to be resolved it pops up again and macafee keeps telling me the emails aren't going through.

I am in the stages of setting up a home based business where phone and internet are 100% vital. For this reason I asked Crazy Johns for Vodafone coverage in my area before I took on the contract - they said it was standard quality - it wasn't. I checked Voadafone's website, (when I had reception), and it told me I had good coverage - but I don't.

Vodafone's call centre staff said that the website isn't giving enough detailed or accurate info as far as coverage because they told me coverage for my area in intermittent at best.

People have left voice mail for me as my phone is constantly without reception and they take hours to come through, and some of them have never been received at all.

Vodafone has made me lose time, money, sanity and hair. I am completely out of patience and want this resolved.

11051 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is contract issue at 7 Jan 2011 10:23:03 AM
After running out of my current plan, Vodafone sales reps tried to resign me for another 24 months. As I was caught off guard, I accepted a new contract with them, only to fill out the cooling off form and post it back. My parents live in regional NSW and we I went to visit, no reception the whole time I was there, (didn't seem to be a problem for Optus and Telstra networks). Anyway after cancelling within the cool off period and switching to virgin, I have now been sent a $600+ contract cancellation fee, as well as charging me for a whole months service. As if!

11048 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is DISGUSTING at 7 Jan 2011 10:14:31 AM
Have a Nokia E71, my plan ends in July, wish it ended soon because I cannot afford to pay the fee to cancel my contract! I used to get excellent reception in and around my home, but now I am lucky to get 1 bar of reception! I can hardly ever access the internet (for which I am paying money for) and find that calls drop out for no reason. I live in Newcastle, this shouldn't be happening!

Receiving MMS msgs never happens - my friends send me pictures of their kiddies and they think I'm being rude when I don't reply - instead I have to inform them that Vodafone are pathetic!

Also just recently went on holidays up north and along the Pacific Highway was lucky to get reception 4/5 times in a 4 hour trip (even when I did get reception I only got it for 1/2minutes)... When I reached my holiday destination I had absolutely no reception (even tho Optus & Telstra had full reception).

Vodafones service is disgusting, they screwed up one of my bills a couple of moths ago and I had to get someone to call me back as the Indian on the phone had absolutely no idea what I was calling about and I could hardly understand what she was saying to me.... Altho she kept thanking me for my call (im guessing these are replies straight from a piece of paper)!

VODAFONE HAS GONE TOTALLY DOWN HILL IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS (IN PARTICULAR)
NEVER AGAIN WILL I SIGN WITH THEM AND I ACTUALLY FEEL SICK EVERYTIME I WALK PAST THE VODAFONE SHOP AND PPL R SIGNING NEW CONTRACTS AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE GETTING THEMSELVES INTO!
7 Jan 2011 10:17:27 AM: oh also just chckd the network upgrade site and my suburb (or any other suburbs in Newcastle) are not listed in the upgrade...

oh also does any1 else sometimes not get reception then have to turn their phone on and off to try and get some?
7 Jan 2011 10:21:51 AM: yes, and I live in Panania, Sydney, not far from the CBD.
7 Jan 2011 10:24:08 AM: Yep & I live in Metro Perth. Same deal with reception & Internet, bloody pathetic, as soonas my contract is up I'm going to OPTUS or anyone else (apart from Telstra)

I work in a major city and am lucky to be able to get any kind of signal unless i am several stories up, out in the open and with my phone in some kind of gymnastic balance beam pose. I live ten minutes away and the reception is marginaly better, i only have to select the function and then set the phone on the coffee table for 30 or more seconds to get it to work, which it does....... sometimes. Seriously, i am paying for this? Vodafone are slightly better than the other company starting with T, which cost me $1,500 to get out of that contract to jump to Vodafail :(
7 Jan 2011 09:55:34 AM: You should try the other company starting the "T"
7 Jan 2011 04:30:27 PM: I did and they were as bad if not worse, hence the $1,500 to get out of the contract.

11041 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is an electrified failing machine. at 7 Jan 2011 09:34:22 AM
Sounds like the standard set of problems.
Have to restart mobile to get network coverage after large periods of no connection. Lots of network busy messages, lots of calls going straight to message bank.
Phone support abysmal, having some better luck with email contact although a lot of hoops to jump through. Their coverage maps are very much a marketing tool rather than an engineering resource. Have found out that the center of Sydney is actually listed as "on the fringe of an outdoor coverage area only" within their internal systems.
About to initiate contact with TIO if my last email is not successful.

I live in Kangaroo Point on the river, a stones throw from the CBD and am constantly out of service. I live on the top story of our unit complex and have calls dropping out mid conversation. The internet on my iPhone is constantly dropping out and I am often unable to send text messages. The service sits on one bar even in the CBD and whenever I go into a vodafone store they tell me that there is nothing they can do and I should call the 1555 number which I am on hold on for hours. I was also using a USB Internet stick which never worked. When I complained about this, the vodafone store gave me another stick which didnt work either. I am sick of this poor reception and consistently poor service in store. I don't like dealing with people over the phone. Whenever I have a question about my contract or account I am also referred to the service number. Also make sure you are all checking your bills thoroughly as I have been charged for sending texts to the same number that I was having a phone call with at the exact same time. My room mate is also with vodafone and has the exact same issues.
7 Jan 2011 07:46:46 PM: im the same i HATE dealing with these things on the phone coz they never listen. id rather do it face to face so i can explain the problem but the staff in store dont want to hear it, once you have signed your contract suddenly they have no reason to help you and suddenly they say they arnt able to help and u need to call the number. UGHHHHH

I own an independent mobile dealership on the Coffs Coast. We have had over 80
Vodafone customers come into my store to complain about coverage issues in the last two weeks. The 3G coverage has deteriorated rapidly so much so that the limited areas that mobile broadband devices would work are now not connecting or dropping out repeatedly. The Vodafone coverage maps are vastly overstated in their reach and capacity.
9 Jan 2011 06:13:14 AM: The coverage maps show Coffs Harbour in the 900MHz regional zone.

Maybe they should train up you hicks.

I receive texts intermittently, calls even less than that and absolutely can not send anything. My flatmate and neighbor share the same complaints and people are getting incredibly frustrated with me being uncontactable.

I am on the prepay plan and I am getting really pissed off paying $49 a month for reception like this. When I get a chance I am jumping to another carrier and I will encourage everyone to do the same. I want to see this company crash and burn.

I live on the mid north coast NSW. I can make outgoing calls on average once every five times. Constantly getting a 3 tone beep and handset says network disconnected. SO FAIL. Its a pain in the rectum. TO add to the pain you have to call a Mumbai call centre and sit on hold for an hour to get some mumbling idiot that can't do a damn thing for you. So then ya go the Vodafail shop where you bought the phone and they do not want to know you and refer you to call customer service (mumbai mumblers).
Two thumbs down vodafone.

doesnt matter where i am.i could be down in the valley or on top of a hill i am forever having trouble getting a decent reception with vodafone. i have a new iphone and only ever get barely 1 or 2 bars or just "searching". my hubbys mobile never has less than 4 bars even if hes out in the middle of nowhere. i wont mention who hes with because i want my pain shared with as many vodafone users as possible. despite being a new phone it drops out continuously....not happy!! get you act together after all you are a multi-million dollar company. i am on a plan and will be for the next 12 months otherwise i would just switch to you know who grrrr
7 Jan 2011 08:40:18 AM: Funny thing is, my phone says it is getting 5 out of 5 reception, although I still get the dropouts, static, and reception issues. It isn't my phone, as my partners works perfectly here at the same location.

We have complatined to Vodfone so many times via the local store and also via phone (except the phone kept dropping out) and then consistantly dropping out, then we went to the store and complained to them, the lady at the Vodafone store was wonderful and exceeded her customer service duties (3 consultant) explaining to us that she is sick to death of what the staff were also being put through from Vodafone. We purchaced Vodafone Broadband and internet for the coverage and great deal we got with them as my Husband is at Uni, we have drop out in the middle of his uni assignment thankfuly none have been late because of this, he is unable to use the internet for study also due to the one bar of coverage. I am also trying to run a party plan business from the internet and it keeps dropping out. We were in the Good Zone when we purchaced this internet and Mobile phone Plans! 11024 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FINALLY GOT THROUGH at 7 Jan 2011 08:24:22 AM
OK I finally got through to vodafone and requested my handset be unlocked. I was told I had to pay $75 for this. I have been with vodafone for 78 months and I have paid them enough! They say they are very aware of this site, and that all you other people have been contacted to "resolve the issue". Is this the truth here? I bet not. Apparently he said if you post your mobile number on here, they will contact you. I am a bit uncomfortable posting my mobile number on here and Im sure Im not the only one. They want to resolve my problem, then unlock the handset without charge! I've paid Vodafone enough over the last 78 months, I should not have to pay this as well. THAT would be the ultime sign of "goodwill" from a telecommunications network! Another issue is the accents. Even the supervisors, I said "Im sorry it is very hard to understand you" to which I got a reply "I am also human even if I am not in Australia". ARGH!!!!
7 Jan 2011 08:28:28 AM: They credited my account with $50. Wow, a lot of use that will be when it can't be used as it should. They are just scared, I told him I wanted to move to optus, and he knew I meant it!
7 Jan 2011 08:58:18 AM: I find it extraordinary that the VF operator asked you to post your number on a public website so they could contact you and "resolve the issue". That is just pure bollocks, certainly not custromer service.
7 Jan 2011 10:19:14 AM: I was told to do the same thing or to give them my email address so that "someone could contact me". I gave them my email address (had to repeat it 15 times until they got it right and yet still haven't heard anything - WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!
7 Jan 2011 04:53:18 PM: I was charged $50 to unlock my iPhone from overseas and I've been with vodafone for 6 years and have paid them thousands of dollars. They're bloodsucking money grabbers.

11019 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is horrible at 7 Jan 2011 07:13:43 AM
QUESTION??? I complained in december (the 26th i believe) about handset and network issues. Since lodging the complaint Vodafone have replied asking for bits of information (i.e. date and times of dropped calls) and admitted that the network in my area (southern sydney ) has failed. Despite this admission they wont reply to me with a solution, the last two emails have simply been them asking the same information over and over i.e. requesting my pin number (which they have asked for three times - you can see it in the reply history of the email) and asking about fault information which they already have. Has any one else had this? At what point do you go to the Ombudsman??
7 Jan 2011 07:16:18 AM: Go to the Ombudsman now and lodge a complaint. Once vodafone sees a complaint from the TIO they will actually start trying to resolve your issue because if they don't they get fined.
7 Jan 2011 07:19:37 AM: cheers, sick of the run around - just want the service i pay for.
7 Jan 2011 04:57:35 PM: I went to the ombudsman today because I went into a vodafone store the check when my plan ran out so I could move to telstra, and she tells me that vodafone have added an extra 3 months to my plan without telling me and I can't get out until April but couldn't tell me why. Phoned the ombudsman straight away and they're now investigatng it. Call them as soon as you can and lodge a complaint they are really good.

11017 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Customer Service & Coverage.. at 7 Jan 2011 06:42:28 AM
I signed a contract with Vodafone on 5th December 2010, with the new Nokia N8.Before signing I asked the girl who served me if I could get coverage in my area. She showed me a map that said my area had good coverage so I went ahead and signed. Within hours of having my phone I realised that the coveage wasn't that good inside my house, but was reasonable outside. So, I didn't complain. Until, the Nokia started turning itself off and was getting harder and harder to turn back on...On the 22nd day after I had the phone I could not turn it on at all. I went to my local Vodafone shop and was told the only option I had was to send my phone away for repair or if unable to repair it would be replaced... This process could take up to 6 weeks.... I offered a "loan phone" while my phone was away. I asked if I would still have access to my social networks on the "loan phone" and was told, they only lent out simple phones,so probably not. Even though my contract included free access to social... The girl then proceeded to get out a Blackberry Storm... Hmmmm, real simple phone hey?? My next questions were obviously too difficult for her to answer so I ended up talking to the "manager".. He seemed more interested in the computer in front of him than answering my questions. I took the Blackberry home feeling really annoyed that the staff we totally not interested in my problems. So, I called and made a complaint against the store manager and one of the staff for their lack of knowledge and nil car factor for my problem.. The Blackberry wouldn't turn on till the next morning after a full nights charge. When it did turn on I was unable to make or receive calls on it as it would cut out and disconnect every single time. It was in SOS mode most of the time.... Not only this, but the Blackberry was full of all the previous persons emails, contacts, sms's, & photos. Disgusting!! After 2 days of his phone I tried calling customer care, was kept on hold for 22 minutes, then the phone disconnected. GREAT!! Tried calling every store in my region but not one answered their phone.. Decided I have to sort this out, so got the kids in the car and headed to my nearest store. Fantastic, the same manager and staff were working and they remembered me...I'm sue of it. I tell them, this phone is useless to me. "Do you want a different one?" the manager asks. "No, I want to cancel my contract, I was told I can do so if I don't get coverage as I can't be charged for a service I'm not receiving"... "We can't cancel in store, you'll have to call customer service." says the manager.. " I would call customer service, but it keeps disconnecting, can you call them from your in store phone for me?" I say. " NO, our phones are down today, you can use a pay phone"........ARE YOU JOKING, A 1300 NUMBER FROM A PAYPHONE, YEAH RIGHT!!!! I'd had enough. I needed a reliable phone. So, I went straight to Optus and signed a new contract, ported my number over and received FANTASTIC service and couldn't be happier with the coverage. I was also informed there that Nokia have a 30 day replacement guarantee on all their phones if they have a manufacturers fault.....VODAFONE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THAT OBVIOUSLY! Not that you would expect them to, they don't seem to know much at all!! Now, I hve called customer Care from my new phone that doesn't cut out. After 17 minutes on hold I spoke to a women who I could barely understand her english. She wanted to put me through to tecnical assistance or something. I told her it was too late, I had already ported my number, now I wanted her to cancel my contract. She had to speak to her supervisor who was on another call at that moment. How convenient. I was told I would get a call back within 2 hours. That was 24 hours ago!!!!!! Sorry for the long spiel, but i'm so annoyed. Will keep updating on my progress.
7 Jan 2011 07:42:33 AM: Wow I used to work for a telco and I find that service just simply unbelievably to understand. EVERYONE who works in ANY telco would know that Nokia has a 30 day early life failure policy, so if you can see the fault you get a new one straight away. If not you could take it direct to the Nokia service centre or the Vodafone centre both in NSW and have it replaced or repaired in 1/2 hours.
There was actually a KNOWN issue with the first release of Nokia N8s. ALL of them would FAIL after the first change - ie. not turn back on. The staff there should have definitely known about this issue and replaced the phone immediately.
It frustrates me when I worked so hard in this industry for 5 years to do the right then then I hear bad stories like this - depressing.
7 Jan 2011 08:53:00 AM: That is a terrible experience you were put through. You must have been frantic with frustration. I have had the same sort of bad experience with VF staff. Maybe they have a really high staff turnover and the newbies just do not seem to know their product, or just do not care?
What is it about the Telco industry that they cannot seem to get their collective business act together ????

11010 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is COST ME JOBS at 7 Jan 2011 05:59:36 AM
VODAFAIL is so pathetic! Their reception issues have cost me jobs. I ring prospective employers and all they can hear is static and then only to be disconnected. Are Vodafail going to pay my rent and bills and stock my fridge? I think not. I have been with vodafone 12 years now, but since they outsourced to overseas their service has become pitiful. How many more jobs is this useless excuse of a "service" going to cost me. Vodafone, please explain to my kids why they are going without because you morons cannot do your jobs!!!

11002 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is If I could actually pay them to never have to think of them again I would at 6 Jan 2011 10:46:47 PM
After a year of drop outs, poor reception, useless data coverage I finally changed my telco.

Happy to pay the exit fee and final bill - IMPOSSIBLE!!!
The store can't cancel the contract - you have to call customer service.
45 minute wait on hold - I get told the contract was already canceled when my number was ported (apparently the store did not have this information), told to just wait for the bill.

Receive notice of bill in email, click on link to pay bill and I have to enter in the amount to pay - I have no idea, and I have been blocked from entering the myvodafone website now because I am with another carrier.

Call to find out how much to pay, wait for 10min on hold then use call back option (will be 30-40 min) - 2 days later no callback

I call again, this time 40min on hold - your bill is $89.83 I am told, now you can pay it.

WRONG

I try to pay online and get a message telling me the information is wrong, you have to call 1555 - (now clearly this number is not the right one for me now) - another 40 min on a $1 a minute 1300 number coming up, awesome!!!

ALL I WANT TO DO IS GIVE THEM MONEY SO I NEVER HAVE TO EVER THINK ABOUT VODAFONE AGAIN!!

Can not wait to get a reminder notice and probably a late payment fee.

ACCC should act now. all these clueless consumers signing up for a service which they don't even recieve.
vodafone should be ashamed. stealing money off consumers.

IM WITH 3 COVERAGE JUST AS BAD.....
6 Jan 2011 10:39:13 PM: Here here I agree, and the call centre is also in India
7 Jan 2011 07:17:49 AM: are'nt they the same company
7 Jan 2011 07:50:39 AM: 3 and vodafone both merged in VHA, but they use completely different towers and roam off different networks also, so the network is different.
If you check the three.com.au website and vodafone.com.au website and search for the coverage maps you can see that they are currently still offering different coverage. The coverage should be completely moved and improvements finalised by 2012 but what I understand from the stuff I've read online
8 Jan 2011 09:16:55 AM: Furthermore... I now seem to roam more on Voda 2G than stay on 3s own 3G network...

10999 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 100% FAIL IN ALL AREAS at 6 Jan 2011 10:30:42 PM
TO START..
I can't even speak to an australian customer rep! so i have to spend a painful 20 minutes trying to disypher what the rep has just said..

Then I went on a holiday for over a week in a 'vodafone coverage area' with NO reception! So i had missed voicemails (as nobody could contact me)from another job of mine asking to work!

I recieved christmas messages and pictures a WEEK late.

Today 06/01/2011 i tried calling vodafone 3 times and was left on hold with no assistants for over 25 minutes when they asked me to call them regarding a new plan and phone! So i called the 1-5 number at 4.30 and in an automated message from Lara they ask if they can call me back in 10 minutes. My phone is yet to ring..it is now 9.29PM

10997 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor Reception at 6 Jan 2011 10:16:15 PM
I live in Melton, i have reception in 3 areas in my house if I step either side of these areas the phone drops out. I have trouble sending sms everywhere. Picture messages always fail to download. The only place i have decent reception is at work which is Yarraville. The reception is crap all over Melton yet I was with vodafone 3 years ago and the reception was great. I moved to Optus which was horrible with over charged bills and forever increasing costs. Hence why I moved back to vodafone. I probz should have gone to Telstra.

Seems there is big problems in Australia with all forms of comunications and there service/customer service. The really needs to be some sort of ass kicking.
9 Jan 2011 04:44:01 PM: I know what you mean. I am in Melton too, and if I hadn't racked up over $100 in credit I would change tomorrow!
11 Jan 2011 06:41:52 PM: problem is Telstra is to expensive and you have to have a nextg comaptible phone so your limited the crap they offer. Why dont they just upgrade the tower in Meltron if they know its so bad, hell there is 2 towers I can see from my house. Obviously nothing to do with vodafone.

Jan 6. 9PM wanted to make a call - no coverage in Rockdale area. Now is 10:50PM still no coverage.

A relative of mine traveled home alone being quite a bit ill. I want to reach to her to know if she had a safe trip to have some peace of mind, but I simply cannot. What if she had a difficulty and needed to reach to me?

Imagine my feelings now, "sitting on needles".

If this is a tech maintenance they could've notified somehow about the outage time frame just for common courtesy sake.
Otherwise, this is simply outrageous.

10991 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100 fails at 6 Jan 2011 08:40:32 PM
I have signed up online with the autoclub membership for a $29 cap over a 12 month period. As an NRMA member I am supposed to receive 10% the total cap and also am entitled to the first three months free. I also purchased the Mobile Cover Me insurance for $10 a month.
After receiving my first bill, I found that I am connected to a $29 cap over a 24 month period and did not receive the 10% off nor the first month free, and I was not cover by the mobile insurance.
I have waited on the phone twice for 45 minutes and then the call hangs up. The first call that manages to reach account enquiries result in the phone being transferred to sales because apparently the information was incorrectly entered when I purchased my phone and plan. When the operator in sales finally answered she laughed at my problem and said that she was sorry but had to transfer me back to account enquiries however she would put a big note explaining what to do. So she re-transferred me to account enquiries and after 1 hour the reception died.
So I decided to try the next day. After getting through to account enquiries she was ready to transfer me, this time to account activations. 24 minutes later, my new BFF Lara says there's a technical difficulty and will have to call again later, and abruptly hangs up.
For the rest of the day I tried again and again. Numerous times getting the option for Vodafone to return my call 'in about more than 30 minutes' but 2 hours later, still no call back and so I try again.
The final call of the day began at 7pm but this time Lara did not ask if I'd like a call back, so I waited.. had dinner.. waited.. fed my dog dinner.. waited.. watched some tv.. and am still waiting. It has now been 3.5hrs (10.30pm) and I am surprise surprise, still on hold.
My brother decides to try to call customer care and finds that pretty much every enquiry service is only open between 8am-8pm.
I guess they weren't planning to tell me that they were closed and not intending to answer my call, even though Lara says 'hang on, we'll be with you really soon'.
7 Jan 2011 07:55:31 AM: Try heading into a retail store. I know that sales staff are able to activate the mobile insurance for $9.95 a month in store with just a few clicks of a mouse on your account.
Sales reps also have a different number to call. It is still for a team based in Mumbai but the wait times tend to be shorter and they should make the call for you. Still leave yourself an hour though if you go on a weekend when they get a lot of calls from retail staff

For years I have had between zero bars to maximum of 2 bars of reception on each of my different handsets that I've had at my holiday house at Jervis Bay. (Definitely not a problem with the handsets). I put up with that. As for Sydney, I always seemed to have more dropouts & bad quality than all my friends on other networks. I put up with that as well. Recently I just discovered that I have been missing calls altogether, the calls had not even registered on my handset. I didn't believe this at 1st but when I check my friends call logs on their handsets, I confirmed this. I have blissfully been unaware of this and believe it's been happening for a long time, This has now officially become beyond a joke. I will be making a complaint directly to the Telecommunication Ombudsman next & will try to get out of my contract. I don't want credits or a free handset to stay on their network. Communication is a key aspect of life & when this is being disrupted, one has no choice but to take action. Loyalty goes through the window. I sincerely hope Vodafone sort out all their Network issues, but I won't be staying with them anymore. Ta ta Vodafail!

I'm not in a mess, does everyone who have complained on here actually know how pathetic you guys are? Before the media, and before this crappy website was developed, did you once complain about coverage? Did you try to discuss the issues with Vodafone? Or do you just want to be a follower and jump on the bandwagon with everyone else? Why sign up with Vodafone in the first place if you know that the coverage is not the best? You get what you pay for. The coverage I have is not that good, but I chose Vodafone over telstra, because testra are complete twits. How about the creator of this site, makes a site about telstra? or is the creator a telstra employee? Here is a suggestion for the nake of the site about Telstra - HELLstra.com - I'm sure there will be a lot more complaints on that site than this on will ever get, and who knows, this comment probably won't even make it. Give Vodafone a chance to fix the problem, it can't be done at the click of a finger, but their webiste does state it will be done on the next few months - http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3730
6 Jan 2011 07:08:39 PM: So why are they still signing customers up? and why are they charging customers for a service that doesn't work?

Sorry, but the only one that is pathetic is you for coming to this site to post your little rant. This site was created so those that have been experiencing problems can see they are not alone, but you came here to troll like some vodafone employee trying to save their job.

Telstra doesn't suffer any of the coverage, dropouts, and network failures that Vodafone suffer from. The only thing Telstra and Vodafone have in common is the pathetic call centres/in store sales people.
6 Jan 2011 07:16:43 PM: Answer me this, why are people still wanting to sign up to Vodafone?
6 Jan 2011 07:20:27 PM: Because not everyone is not aware of the problems, because Vodafone are not informing customers as they sign u of the major problems their network is experiencing. So people still sign up thinking '''oooohhhhh they are the cheapest out there, but I am sure it will at least work''' ... When in fact it just doesn't work.
6 Jan 2011 08:33:57 PM: you obviously havent been with vodafone have you?
these problems have been going on long before the site was created. just gives us a chance to express ourselves and maybe they will take the hint... eventually.

get off the site, why dont you start your own telstra hate mail and leave us to ours.

How about the creator of this site, makes a site about telstra?...........How about the OP of this thread make a site about telstra?.............. or is the creator a telstra employee?......No he is not! Here is a suggestion for the nake of the site about Telstra - HELLstra.com - I'm sure there will be a lot more complaints on that site than this on will ever get, and who knows, this comment probably won't even make it...........there is your challenge, off you go. Give Vodafone a chance to fix the problem,......they have had their chance........... it can't be done at the click of a finger, but their webiste does state it will be done on the next few months - http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3730 Exactly when???
7 Jan 2011 06:10:33 AM: Hey genius, this site was set up after vodafone tried to rip the creator of this site off. They sold him something that didnt work and refused to release him from his contract. He also had a hard time getting thru to customer service and getting a resolution, THAT IS WHY this site was created!!
I certainly never had problems with vodafone until 18 months ago. I didnt shop around for the cheapest,I was always happy with evry aspect of vodafone until then.I previously reconmended friends, family and colleagues join vodafone because it was a good network.
Get back to work at vodafone and serve some customers
7 Jan 2011 09:36:03 AM: To the original poster-
"Give Vodafone a chance to fix the problem, it can't be done at the click of a finger, but their webiste does state it will be done on the next few months " Many people, like me, pretty much only have mobile phones in case of emergencies-AND-in case the landline isn't working.Do you understand that we can't wait for some unspecified time in the future for the service we are paying for to be fixed? And VF is not helping by signing up even more people, lured in by what seem good deals, further overloading the network, and then the new customers are then further overloading the network trying to get through to customer service.

I signed up with Vodaphone only a month ago, because the coverage maps on their webpage supposedly had better coverage than 3, not. I wanted coverage in a rural area but don't get it, my children get coverage on 3. I have to travel 10 minutes up the road to get coverage, not liking that at all. Not happy with Vodaphone at all. Spent an hour & a half on hold last night, then miraculously, got cut off before I could speak to anyone. Is there any truth in the rumour I heard that I can get out of my contract & if so, what happens with the phone I received????
6 Jan 2011 07:01:24 PM: DONT LEAVE VODAFONE<please, we are buying a fleet of shuttle busses, and soon you will be able to jump on a bus and we will drive you to the top of the nearest mountain so you can make those calls
6 Jan 2011 07:10:34 PM: They are already doing that, but the person I wanted to call was also on the bus, so by the time we got to the blue mountains we had nothing left to talk about
6 Jan 2011 08:00:03 PM: Many people have been allowed out of their contracts, including site owner Adam. However, individual circumstances vary so there is no guarantee either way. You can go to our 'How To Complain' page for more information on what to do. As for the phone you have now, they will either ask you to send it back, or work out with you a mutually agreed upon price to pay so you can keep the phone. Best of luck! - The Vodafail.com Team

My reception is hopeless I have to stand on one foot and lean a certain way to get any reception. My new (6 month old) Nokia N97 died - they refused to fix it under warranty due to alleged water damage??? It never went near the water! I am over them...
7 Jan 2011 08:01:50 AM: Sadly Nokia never ever cover water damage under their warranty terms and conditions. Where did you send it to get assessed - was it the vodafone service centre, through a store or at nokia service directly? Wherever you sent it you can request the photos of the liquid damage. The technicians are required to take photos of all phones classified as liquid damage so you can see the rust/mould etc for yourself. You don't need to be near water it could be steam from the shower, rain, exessive sweat, humid weather etc etc.
If you have insurance you can use the photos to gain a new phone. Hope that helps

In short I am a disgruntled Vodafone customer after using the service for more than 6 years. After my relentless attempts to contact Vodafone customer support to resolve my issues (the usual dropped calls, no reception, poor battery life and delayed voicemail messages) I have no choice but to search for a new carrier.

Just today 6th Jan 2011 - I called vodafone call centre 1st 3 times was cut off afer 30 mins each on hold - the 4th call went for 1hour 20mins. I complained about my famous "no service / searching" on my apple i-phone - Ihave 8 months remaining on my contract and all they can say is - Oh sorry sir - we are always upgrading our towers (6 years you told me this) and I will credit your bill this month - Big Woop$69 !!

Now they want to do a investigation to confirm the service / newtwork is fine in my area which goes for 2 weeks before they decide weather or not I can leave with out termination fees.

Its been 6 years thousands of $$$ Im sure you can spot me $500 and let me leave for good.
6 Jan 2011 05:55:11 PM: When in doubt, give the TIO a shout ;)

10950 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incompetent at 6 Jan 2011 04:19:06 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 9 years. I used to live in regional QLD, and reception was never any problems. However, in the past 6 months, reception even in the heart of Brisbane has been intermittent (in particular, data connections are terrible).

Over Christmas I drove north for 4 hours, and actually visited the house I used to live in. Both my wife and my phone had no service, and a friend of mine who used to work for Vodafone who lives nearby told me that he changed back to Telstra (who he hated with a passion) for that very reason. I had two pockets of reception in the town, and nothing during the 4 hours travel time between.

I am glad our car hasn't broken down on the highway, we wouldn't have been able to call for assistance.

I also have a problem with their billing. Quite often the bills I receive are for different amounts, with confusing explanations provided if I call.

Recently I got rid of my N97 mini (Voda's flagship phone for a while, which turned out to be a god-awful piece of rubbish... couldn't even make calls on it most of the time) and moved to a Desire HD. Voda tried to hit me for the early termination, but I complained and they 'lessened' it somewhat. When it came time for the direct debit, this amount exceeded my credit card limit -- I couldn't get through to anyone on the phone, and to this day I am still unable to sign up to MyVodafone, it sends me a temporary password which does not work (Voda tell me "We're having problems, please try again next week" every time). So I was unable to change my direct debit details -- so they sent me a text saying that my debit failed and to call them. I finally got through to someone that same morning, and arranged to have the amount deducted from my bank account. It seems they have no problems helping you out when you owe them money. Anyway, lo-and-behold I get my next bill and they slug me with a $20 'dishonour fee'. *Sigh*

I hope they get their act together very quickly, since my family all use Vodafone.

Not to mention the customer service where you get no help at all.Would not recommend to anyone.

10945 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Fail at 6 Jan 2011 03:58:03 PM
My Partner and I have long been happy 3 customers. Recently, when his contract ended, he went into what used to be the 3 store (now covered in vodafone signs) and requested to renew his contract with 3. they said this was no longer possible as 3 was becoming defunct in 2011 (and which I later found out was a lie.) One of the benefits of 3, and the reason I signed up was the free calls to others on the same network, enabling me to avoid costly interstate calls when I wanted to speak to my family. Once he moved over to Vodafone, I was charged for all calls made to his number! I went and inquired at the vodafone store, and the man i spoke to rudely stated I should have realised i would no longer get free calls as 'technically' im not calling 3 anymore! I thought seeing as they forced my partner to move over, and Vodafone now owned Hutchinson Australia, they would continue this service! explanation please!
I'm also unimpressed with the lack of information to customers re: the switch from 3 to vodafone. Shouldnt vodafone have informed all 3 customers we would eventually be moved over to a vodafone service! I've never had a problem with and was just going to stay with 3 and then eventually get moved over to vodafone, but after being referred to this site and reading some of the drama's, I think I'll move to Telstra! Im sick of Huge multi-national corporations ripping off honest everyday people!Good work Vodafail for allowing disgruntled consumers to voice their opinions and illustrate ways of getting out of these contracts!
6 Jan 2011 07:13:58 PM: 1. Most Vodafone plans have unlimited calls to 3 and Vodafone
2. If you're not happy with the change to Vodafone, ask to switch back - Easy
- This is another example of someone complain for the sake of complaining

I live in Brisbane...and still I have no reception ever...well sometimes I get one bar. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
6 Jan 2011 03:56:17 PM: Before I got away from vodafail I would be running around my apartment and out on to my balcony trying to get better reception on a failing call that eventually dropped no matter what. And I live in Homebush Bay, the site of the Sydney Olympics and 5 minutes drive from the ANZ stadium! One of the most heavily serviced areas of Australia. If I get dropped calls then heaven help rural people because vodafail won't!
7 Jan 2011 06:25:41 AM: vodafail are onto it, they are securing deals to build massive high rise apartments all around sydney, in order to relocate their rural customers to areas where they may (occasionally) get coverage

I got this message - Apologies, but our email form is temporarily out of order.

EPIC FAIL.

I've had a reasonable relastionship with Vodafone for more than 10 years but since going over to an iPhone last year and using internet/email/etc I have found them to be getting worse. At first I assumed that it was because of the low quality antenna in the iPhone but have since found that it is Vodafone as others in the same place as me using Telstra or Optus get good service. More recently calls are dropping out so even that is starting to get to be annoying! I have all but given up with trying to access the web unless I am connected to a WAN which defeats the purpose of paying for a data service completely!

10927 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless at 6 Jan 2011 02:28:27 PM
After complaining to the TIO about my poor coverage and constant drop outs at SydneyOlympic Park ( still being investigated by vodafone) I was revered to this

Mobile drop-outs and poor coverage

The TIO regularly investigates complaints where consumers allege they were misled by their provider or its dealer about mobile phone coverage, or are otherwise dissatisfied about the level of coverage they are receiving. Most commonly, complainants seek the TIO's assistance in being released from their contractual obligations.

Where a complaint concerns allegations of misleading or incorrect advice, the TIO seeks information and evidence from both the complainant and the provider to attempt to ascertain whether the complainant has a sufficient case to be released from their contract. The TIO will need to establish:

whether coverage is poor and, if so, in which areas
what expectations the dealer gave the complainant about coverage (e.g. Did they guarantee coverage in certain areas? Did they show a coverage map?)
the extent to which the complainant has been able to use the phone
whether the complainant has moved
whether the complainant specifically told the dealer where they would be using the phone
whether the standard of service has changed
whether coverage differs depending on the time of day, weather, etc;
when the complainant first brought the complaint to the attention of the provider or dealer.
Information/documentation that might assist the TIO to determine these factors includes the written contract itself, copies of mobile phone bills, statements about any discussions that took place before the contract was entered into, and coverage maps.

The TIO expects a provider and/or its dealer to ensure a customer is adequately informed about the likely performance of their phone. Having said this, the TIO has regard to the experience and knowledge of the complainant in relation to mobile phones. The TIO also considers the customer's apparent level of understanding and therefore what could reasonably have been expected of them in the circumstances.

Where the available evidence suggests likelihood that the dealer provided inadequate, inaccurate, or misleading information about coverage, the TIO expects the provider to release the customer from any contractual obligations, without termination charges or fees. Depending on the circumstances of the case, the TIO might also expect the provider to reimburse and/or waive any access fees or other charges paid.

Where a complainant did not make their provider aware of a coverage problem until well into the contract, the TIO will question what caused the delay. Where it is apparent that the complainant could reasonably have raised the issue much earlier, the TIO will bear this in mind when considering what constitutes a fair and reasonable outcome in the circumstances.

In considering complaints about coverage, the TIO also considers the extent to which the complainant has derived any benefit from the phone. For example, where it is apparent that a customer is effectively unable to use their phone due to poor coverage, the TIO might expect a provider to cancel a fixed term contract without termination charges or fees even where the actions or advice of the dealer were not brought into question.

I have been with Vodafone for 15 years and never really had a problem. However, I have received moved to Kellyville - a highly delveoped metro area and we can not get clear mobile reception in our home. Calls are bearly audiable and they drop out frequently.

In June, I also had an issue with "mistaken identity" - where by we were being told to pay a bill that wasn't ours. Took days and spoke to call centres in India and Egypt with no resolution. The matter is with their "legal team". has been seven months and have not heard a response.

Ironically, with faith to Vodafone I tried to resign my contract with them yesterday... spoke to "Lara" 6 times and each time as I was being transfered the call would say "There has been a technical error. You must hang up and try again". I tried various options on their menu's with no success. I am trying to give them business and they can't even get it right!
6 Jan 2011 10:44:18 PM: *slaps you across the head*
are you for real? u wanna resign ur contract?
but ... why?
7 Jan 2011 06:34:02 AM: reminds me of the story of Egyptian cabbie who drove onto the footpath, beeping his horn, trying to get thru traffic.Knocked over an old man, stopped, jumped out of the cab and slapped the old man for not getting out the way.

10912 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 6 Jan 2011 01:37:53 PM
For the past 15 months I've been on the King St Wharf and Darling Harbour side of the city and have had poor Vodafone reception. I've warned people that I may not get SMS during work hours. Also, iPhone 3 and 4 data has been hopeless. I have to walk outside the building to get my Gmail.

However, my worst Vodafail story was in the first week after getting iPhone 3. I went to Mt Hotham which didn't have Vodafone 3G coverage. Vodafone actually 'roamed' me onto Telstra's 3G network (without warning me) and I blew my first monthly cap by ~$200 as a result of 3G roaming within Australia.

To this day, I feel they owe me $200.
6 Jan 2011 11:56:45 PM: Odd, I go to Hotham all the time and I always have coverage on mountain, using a 3GS. Never been charged roaming up there either...

I have a 2 year plan with Vodafone the overall reception is very poor especially in my own home. Both my partner and me have contacted them and their only responds is that we must be in a black hole and there's nothing they can do. I am a freelancer and have lost jobs because they phone didn't ring and went straight to my voice mail. Most of the time I only receive my voice mail message the next day by that time I have lost the job opportunity.

So YES, I'm losing jobs because of Vodafone bad reception and I can't wait till my contract has finished so I can move to another provider.

Internet drops out 9 out of 10 times. Today I spoke to customer service and they told me network is fine..... I blame management at Vodafone Australia for not passing on the right information to customer service team at India. Vodafone's CEO and management are just LAZY. Atleast they could have forecasted this issue and implemented a back up. They should have known. Outages for 1 or 2 day is acceptable but Vodafone gave us an outrage for 1 month and still no fix. It's too late now coz Vodafone is in bad books now. Vodafone Hutchison Australia management is HOPELESS and should be ashamed.

When I received a call from my furniture delivery company to inform me my furniture had arrived, I hoped to organise with the driver on how to bring it up to my apartment. With the constant drop outs from "no reception" when my phone showed full reception, the driver finally gave up on me.

Now I am organsing for delivery again and paying for another delivery run!

AGAIN THANK YOU VODAFONE FOR THIS INCONVENIENCE

I RANG UP TO QUERY MY DATA USAGE ON MY LAST 2 BILLS.I DON'T USE INTERNET I DON'T READ EMAILS,THE ONLY THING I USE MY DATA USAGE IS FOR APPLICATION UPDATES,AND I ONLY DO MY UPDATES AT HOME USING WI-FI.TO MY HORROR I JUST FOUND OUT THAT IF MY PHONE THINKS THAT THE WI-FI SIGNAL ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH (MIND YOU WE NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2 COMPUTERS WE USE) MY PHONE WILL AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO THE VODAFONE NETWORK AND USE MY DATA USAGE WITHOUT ME KNOWING .NOT ONLY THAT BUT MY PHONE CAN ALSO AUTOMATICALLY UPDATE APPLICATIONS THROUGH THEIR NETWORK WITHOUT NOTIFYING THAT IT IS UPDATING.ON MY LAST BILL I SUPPOSEDLY HAD DATA USAGE EVERY SINGLE DAY AND I KNOW I HAVE ONLY DONE UPDATES ON APPS FOR 3 OR 4 DAYS OF THE MONTH.I WAS TOLD THAT MY PHONE CAN DO UPDATES AT ANYTIME WITH NO NOTIFICATION AND ITS NOT A VODAFONE CON ITS AN APPLE CON THAT HELPS VODAFONE INCREASE THEIR COFFERS .VERY ANGRY
6 Jan 2011 01:00:23 PM: Sounds like something a vodafone CSR would say to get you off the phone
6 Jan 2011 01:58:49 PM: To my knowledge your iphone (assuming iPhone) wont update itself, that's the point on the Application centre's update notifications.
6 Jan 2011 03:40:42 PM: Instead of updates wouldn't it be data dependent apps that are using up the data? The new Game Centre on OS4.1 logs in each time you play one of the games.
7 Jan 2011 12:01:07 AM: iPhones can't update apps by themselves, need to enter your iTunes password to do it. Also, 3G can't override Wifi, even ifthe Wifi doesn't have a net connection it will still try the Wifi.

Lay off the crack.

10902 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Wheres the Upgrades? at 6 Jan 2011 12:47:47 PM
According to the Vodafone website (Network Issues/Upgrades) there is no mention of upgrades of the network for Tasmania for 2011. Has Tassie been forgotten again, poor 'regional' Tassie, always has to miss out. But maybe they can justify this by saying they have good reception here (at the Call Centre!)
6 Jan 2011 02:48:25 PM: I noticed this myself, and commented down the bottom of the blog in which I found the network upgrade page regarding this. I checked the blog again this morning and quite a few of the comments including mine (which included no swearing or abuse) had been deleted. Obviously we HAVE been forgotten and Vodafail can't take the criticism for it.
7 Jan 2011 09:59:16 PM: Uh guys....if you would care to actually read the page you will find that the listed upgrades on the website are for "between January and March 2011".

It's no wonder Tasmanians are thought of as being backward...
8 Jan 2011 10:05:11 AM: Well they could make us feel as though they are thinking of us, if only to say they are considering 'upgrades' outside of the January to March time frame. Then there is the matter of Vodafone removing/deleting customers comments relating to this...
8 Jan 2011 02:35:30 PM: WTF are you on man? Vodafone as a company have nothing to do with this site.

Unless of course you're talking about their own site, in which case, anybody who runs an online blog can reserve the right to moderate comments and remove those that are considered to be abusive, trolling attempts etc. You see it on Whirlpool all the time.

Has it ever occurred to you that they may actually be going through an assessment process to determine what upgrades happen, where they happen and when they happen? It stands to reason that the areas facing the biggest problems will get done first.

The state of Tasmania has less than a quarter of the population of the city of Sydney, so do you think that the number or percentage of people having problems is going to be anywhere nere comparable? Of course it's not.

Tasmania's turn will come.
8 Jan 2011 06:53:53 PM: To the previous comment: I'm fairly sure the OP is talking about the Vodafone website and the blog where they posted planned network upgrades. People are calling Vodafone Vodafail, so it does get confusing sometimes. And I agree with you, they have to start somewhere when fixing stuff. There have been a few comments from people in TAS to say they are not experiencing issues, so maybe that's another reason they have not been prioritised.
11 Jan 2011 01:04:16 AM: @7 Jan 2011 11:59:16 PM Just to be clear on that, is that 2011 on the Christian Calendar?
11 Jan 2011 10:19:10 PM: http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3730

Look at it for yourself. Tas IS NOT listed. As for the population being less? That's a fair call. But the percentage of the population being less? Where did you learn maths? The size of a population has ABSOLUTELY NO relation to the percentage of a population. Moron.
14 Jan 2011 10:47:32 PM: Guys look I agree the coverage in Tassie needs to be improved in a Lot of areas however.... I used to live on the west coast as well as cradle mountain where my only option was Telstra, after enduring countless years of overpriced plans with little value and bills upwards of $300 per month I finally moved to a location where I had a choice. Vodafone plans are the best value on the market the customer service has been in the past fantastic and I made the conscious descision to go with this company even though the network does not cover a large area of our state. I keep a Telstra pre paid sim card for places that don't have coverage to use in emergencies but honestly it doesn't get used that often. I have found however for the most consistent coverage older style phones are the best, stay away from the so called smart phones as they seem to struggle with switching between 2g and 3G networks and this is where it is dropping out, don't believe me? Try it yourself the smartest thing about smart phones is the marketing behind them
14 Jan 2011 10:49:59 PM: Smart phones work perfectly on Telstra's NextG Network (Best coverage and performance in Aus) :)
18 Jan 2011 11:28:03 AM: I use to work at Vodafone 3 or 4 years ago, back then they were talking about Tassie becomming 3G within a year - Don't hold your breath - Want FANTASTIC service, swap to Telstra - I travel around the state & only found a small spot travelling to Coles Bay the only non-reception area on my Iphone 3 & 4.
22 Jan 2011 10:03:38 AM: @ 12 Jan 2011 12:19:10 AM - Again, if you have a look at the page, it says "between January and March 2011"; why would a state be listed when there are no scheduled upgrades for that period?

As for maths and percentages, do you mean to say that (for instance) 20% of 500,000 is comparable to 20% of 3,000,000 in terms of raw numbers? FYI that is 100,000 vs 600,000. Sure, they're both 20%, but a there's a big difference when you break it down. Who's the moron now?
20 Jul 2011 06:56:54 PM: well here we are in july 2011, vodaphone still useless

10901 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a Blue Whale sized fail at 6 Jan 2011 12:42:19 PM
So I decided to give vodamoan a call last night while i made sure i entertained myself with something else... expecting to wait. 40 mins later they answer.. in a very helpful tone mind you.. all happy happy :-)

I politely asked them why the wait was so long and their explanation was umm... kinda... not quite convincing. They were very busy in their call center but not because they have lots of customers calling them lol.. short staffed? I asked... No. She tried to get me off topic.. so in response to her question hehe I asked is there something wrong with their network... she says No..quite a few times reassuring me!! I mentioned that I didnt want to sign up a new contract if they are having network problems and I have difficulties getting through to them. She assured me that wasnt the case, altho never did quite explain the delay. So she starts asking me questions about what service I am interested in.. and I reply... could the delay be a result of vodafone failing to provide the services they claim to in their contracts? Or could the volume of calls be some of the 10,000 plus people who have logded their complaint on vodafail.com in the last 2 weeks and the have legal action pending? Have you heard of them?? Or could it be some other people who are in the same position I am forced into with my vodfone where I have to chase reception, constantly deal with dropped calls yet still pay the bill etc etc. I was met with silence from her end.

All of a sudden she suddenly became aware of the network issues.. and apologetic when I started to tell her the problems they have caused me over the last year lol.. so nice of them to care so much they apologise!!

Yet the "so n so" would have signed me up then and there if they could have, even tho i made my concerns clear.

They are doing the same thing 3 was doing years ago.. playing down their problems till you gave up or died from stress.

Say NO to contracts !!

Frustration with hold times going through Lara often resulting in being disconnected after an hour or more on hold. Complete network outage in December for nearly 2 days but the on-line outages were showing no problem. Most annoying currently is delay of several hours in voicemail. I have lost a contract as a result of this delay & it seems to be getting worse rather than better. Finally no coverage in the underground in Perth where all other networks seem fine. Regards Chris

When i have called about issues in the past and to find out how to get out of my plan i have spoken to idiots who have just wasted my time. Plus ive had to wait on the phone for ages and had that message saying Vodafone will call you back. Never has called me back once. 10883 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is MEGAfail at 6 Jan 2011 11:40:32 AM
I'm in a mess as the RESULT of Vodafone's incapability to provide service. I am a 3 customer and an ex-3 employee (of 18 months).

When we started selling Vodafone in our 3 stores, we were told to push the Vodafone brand as much as possible. All of the 3 customer service staff have moved to the Vodafone call centers to cope with the increased call volume. Now any time one calls 3, you will find yourself on hold for 30 minutes minimum - regardless of the time of day (it used to be better to call in the morning).

ON TOP of this, I recently hollidayed south of Perth over the Christmas period where I used to receive reasonable coverage. Now however, as 3 are gradually switching off obsolete towers, I receive NO coverage.

I know how bad it is, and I know that it's going to get worse. Especially for 3 customers.

It's pretty shitty to be 3

10881 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Immensely at 6 Jan 2011 11:36:19 AM
Crappy coverage, internet works but very slow and often not at all when on the move, can rarely pick up 3G. No wonder people are silly enough to pay a premium with Telstra. I may be heading that way as soon as I pay out my contract, just lucky I wasn't silly enough for a 24 month one!!

10878 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone Failure!!!!! at 6 Jan 2011 11:30:18 AM
I have been with Vodafone for a month now and since being with them it has been a endless problem of problem upon problem. I got my Iphone4 on the 20/12/10 after calling them on the 02/12/10. When I got my phone it took me 2 days to try and get it connected. Once the phone was connected my internet service was not working and it took me another 2 days to get that working. My internet connection is slow is drops off. My phone reception is so bad that I can't make many calls. My family calling from overseas can't call me either as they keep getting m voicemail. Every time I need speak to their 1555 to takes between 30 - 45 minutes to even speak to a human. The only reason why I am with Vodafone is it allows me to call my family overseas and if Telstra had the same plan I would go back in a heart beat.

10875 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is sigh at 6 Jan 2011 11:25:39 AM
Well they've offered me a good deal to compensate for all the issues I've had. I said I want to think about it and get back to them. I've called them back, I'm on hold for at least 20 minutes so far and this entire time the sound /recorded msgs/music they are playing sounds like a distorted crackly robot. (!)

When they finally pick up I am not entirely sure they will be able to understand me.

Anyway, I am interested to know some facts about what their network will be like once its all upgraded - I am starting to think that I will hang in there if I can be shown what they are doing and how it will improve.

Where is this INFO?
6 Jan 2011 11:27:39 AM: There isn't a great deal of information available unfortunately however Vodafone has just released the list of towns in which they are upgrading the network within the next three months. Those are the only plans we currently know about from vodafone but if your town isn't there then it's best to ask them for more information.

Vodafone page here: http://blog.vodafone.com.au/blog/news/improving-your-vodafone-network-an-update-on-our-network-plans/
6 Jan 2011 11:29:25 AM: Thanks so much I will check it out. I am in Bondi Beach - a very populated area that should have excellent service. But Wow. This crackling line got so bad that I have hung up and will start all over again. Grr.
6 Jan 2011 11:33:15 AM: Yea I know how you feel, I could never be sure of their hold music was crackly because of my phone or because their radio had bad reception. Bondi isn't on the upgrade list so you might want to ask exactly what is going to happen in the next few months that would improve your coverage. If they have no plans of doing anything then you have to wonder what they are holding out for. Best of luck.
6 Jan 2011 11:33:48 AM: Hookay. Called again - went through the whole 'Lara' ordeal then I get 'Looks like we've had a technical problem you'll have to hang up and try again'

So here I am I'm trying to call back to accept an offer I was made and I can't even get through to them without significant pain.

Maybe I am making a mistake sticking around with them....
6 Jan 2011 11:39:31 AM: Yea the more times you have to try the more you reconsider. It depends on how important your mobile phone is to you and what kind of service you require. if you can survive with patchy reception and dropped calls in exchange for reduced bills (or whatever they've offered you) then it might be worth it. But if you can't live with that then you might as well switch to another carrier. Even if it costs slightly more you will save on the amount of time you spend on hold and trying to call back people after the phone drops calls.
6 Jan 2011 12:17:25 PM: Third attempt - got through the Lara crap, entered my 'pin' number then was just hung up on without an explanation. Feels like I will never get to 'accept this offer' at this rate.

Nice way to spend a rare sunny day off work.
6 Jan 2011 02:10:52 PM: Fourth and Fifth attempt - was on hold for about 20 minutes then each time it sounded like the call was being answered but again - it wasn't answered. I could hear ppl talking on other calls for a long period of time - and the second time it was just complete silence but still connected. So I hung up both times.

Went to a Vodafone store and asked them to email Vodafone to get them to call me back!

10874 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Can't Contact Anyone At Vodafone at 6 Jan 2011 11:21:09 AM
The TIO requires me to take reasonable steps to resolve my issues with Vodafone before I lodge a complaint, but efforts so far have been fruitless. I tried calling 1555 but I was informed that there were network connection issues and disconnected me, I have also tried to fax a complaint to the designated number as well as head office but the numbers don't answer and I have tried phoning from a landline to various other numbers. How can I fulfill the TIO requirement if I can't get through to anyone at the company.
6 Jan 2011 11:25:50 AM: As long as you have tried to contact and resolve the issues with Vodafone then you are fine to go to the TIO. Just fill out the form on the TIO website (linked to from the 'how to complain' page) and the TIO will request that vodafone contact you themselves. At that point vodafone should probably resolve your issue as the further it has to escalate within the TIO, the more vodafone will get charged. Goodluck!

10873 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Keneally!!!!!! at 6 Jan 2011 11:16:00 AM
I have not yet seen anyone speak about the monumental breach VF has made of a number of sections of the Trade Practices Act. No-one can issue a contract and then execute it knowing they cannot deliver their contractual commitment. Every corporate officer in Australia is aware of this requirement. VF have breached their commitment to every subscriber. Under these circumstances and due to the denial over many months I see potential for the Directors and Management to be held accountable and VF forced to abstain from taking on any new subscribers until the network issues (and corporate conscience) are verified as resolved. I suppose we should be thankful VF only handle communications, not health, police, education, utilities - wait a minute, is VF part of the excuse we have for a NSW Government??

10872 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is unbelievably STUPID at 6 Jan 2011 11:09:38 AM
I have had "limited service" displayed on my phone constantly since November 2010. It is to the point now that I may as well leave my phone at home when I go out because I cant use it anyway. I have contacted them via email because I work business hours and I am sick of sitting on hold all night only to get disconnected which I suspect is because it is their closing time.

I have explained in my emails about never having service, and the reply I got was asking questions like: where are you when your calls drop out, what are the numbers you are calling when they drop out etc..... I explained that im not even able to make bloody calls, let alone have the freakin things drop out on me.
We then played email tag for the next 3 days because even though they had my full name, date of birth, address an alternative contact details, they were "unable to indetify me"
I told her to stop playing games and that I didnt appreciate the "delay tactics" and I get a response back saying that according to their "coverage maps" my address was listed as being an outdoor service area only....
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! My last contract was signed while I was living at this address and I never had this issue during that 2 year contract period.
I have sporting commitments in the Wynnum/Manly area, until late on Monday nights, I cant even call my husband to let him know I am on my way home because I have no reception.... . I can leave home with the "limited service" displayed on my phone, drive to my work place in Wacol, and still have "limited service" on my phone when I get there, and go most of the morning until it comes back on so surely that is prove enough that it is their
coverage, not my address that is the issue.
I then told her that I was going to send my complaint to the TIO and the response I got back was "It is always disappointing when customers are unhappy with any aspect of the Vodafone service as we aim to provide excellent service at all times.

Whilst we appreciate your frustration, as you have advised that you have sought a third party, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, in an attempt to resolve your complaint, that you follow the procedure that the Ombudsman would have provided"

So in other words, they have just wiped their hands of me, they didnt even try to "look into my issue" like they promised, nor did she even seem interested in helping me....
Lets hope the TIO side with me and get me out of my crappy contract so I can go to a providor that will actually give me the service I am paying for each month.

10869 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very FAIL at 6 Jan 2011 11:00:58 AM
I live in the Hurstville area and have spoken to a number of Vodafone customer reps, they've told me i definitely have coverage in my area..well i beg to differ!
The only place that has coverage is my backyard in ONE CORNER! Too bad if there's an emergency..i'll have to run quickly to 'the corner' as it is now called.

On another note, i purchased the pre-paid wireless usb..guess where i had to use the internet..yep, the corner. After getting an exchange because the person at the Vodafone store said i probably have a faulty usb device, i went back home and had to go straight back in to 'the corner'. Went back to the store and demanded a refund. After an hour of explaining, finally got my money back.

I happen to look after our companies mobiles - total of 200 users - Vodafone keep wanting our business..would i ever consider..NEVER!

10868 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Rubbish & very un-classy at 6 Jan 2011 11:00:12 AM
I've tried to be civil, understanding and mostly patient. I said to my self the service isnt that bad and im not going to be one of those people who post a complaint blog. But after so many months now its just ridiculous! Same old experiences as everyone else, calls dropping out while dialing, little to no reception, receiving texts, emails and voicemails hours late, dropout after dropout on a simple phone call,slow/non-existant 3g connection, and constant complaints from people trying to reach me (the whole "but my phone didnt even ring once" excuse dosent cut it anymore).

Luckily i havent had an emergency situation where i couldnt contact or be contacted or work related discrepencies so i havent had anything really tip me over yet.

I really hope these "Task Forces" Vodafone have deployed are more a unit of elite technicians that can get these issues solved quickly and not a crack team of idiots like i have been spured to expect

6 Jan 2011 11:29:36 AM: Thanks for sharing your experiences. Most of us probably didn't think it would get to this stage but from the over 10,000 posts on this website it looks like you are not alone. Make sure you are complaining to vodafone as well, if they haven't resolved your issue then go straight to the TIO without delay! Information is on the 'how to complain' page at the top of this website.

10867 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic fail at 6 Jan 2011 10:51:50 AM
firstly i thought i was the only one having this issue.
i will start with that "Voda" did help out getting me a present organised for my wife (iphone 4) at the begging it took half a day to connect the phone however eventually they got it right. at first my wife phone had reception issues thought it was the iphone 4 issue however now its happening to my phone Iphone 3gS the last 2 months or so people received my txt extremely late or not recieve them at all, and now i'm not receiveing text from people. also i have relaised increasingly bad reception on my phone. it takes at least 4 attempts to have a conversation with out drop outs and most of my calls are in the main CBD or out west of sydney where coverage shouldnt be a problem. at the same time data is affect as well. i've called them to see if they were having network issues and the advise it was the phone. i needed to update my OS etc.. to solve the issues. guess what still have the issues. once i heard about this site i am glad we are standing up voicing our issues. the biggest problem i have is we pay for a service regardless what the price is cheap or not we are still paying for a service that needs to be provided and its not been delivered. i know in my industry (IT) if we did this we would have ACCC on my back. anyways i will try again other wise i'm sending an invoice to them for my time.
