Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Same as every one else, dropped calls, no reception, poor 3G performance. Makes it worse to read from Vodafail that we have to call them and endure their wait times.

Try some compassion!!!!How about Vodafone, 3 and Crazy John's let the people who are sick and need to be able to contact friends or Doctors out of their contracts on the Vodafone network. I'm sure if they passed on the company would not hesitate to continue billing them! Give these people away out and peace of mind.

I have a prepaid voda usb modem. i can be right smack bang in the middle of 3G coverage and get slower than dialup on GPRS, because 3G connection just doesnt happen.

i am lucky, because the credit i have is for 12 months, so unlike many others i am sure, i am not having my credit run out before i can use it, becuase of its complete unusuability.

BUT... i did have to fork out for credit for my other USB stick, which is Telstras, and we all know how expensive that stuff is for even a small amount of data.

Why arent the media representing that 3G issues dont just affect phone users?

Unfortunitly the story is simmular in New Zealand. They advertise 3G service but have one 3G site in the middle of a city. They have been showen up by Telecoms new network and coverage. The new player 2 degrees is taking customers from them also. Although they wholesale Vodafone network capacity they are building more sites all the time. Go 2 degrees. Stick it to them. Looks like it a Vodafone South pacific policy. Sign people up but don't supplky any service or support until you have to.

9439 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is phone and internet at 31 Dec 2010 08:40:32 AM
Due to an injury I am working from home, I have internet and phone contracts with Vodafone. I live in an area on northern beaches which Vodafone deams as good coverage. Due to loss of connectivity with my phone during teleconference meetings and my inability to get a signal to connect to the web I have now lost my job as I cannot meet deadlines nor participate in phone conferences.

The worst experience to date would be the delay in text message reciept. My ex husband sent me a text message as my little boy had been in an accident and to get to the hospital I did not recieve the text until 2hrs later! I have requested so many times to be realeased from my contracts as I am paying for a service they cannot provide. For all of us who legitimately cannot get coverage let us out of our contracts. It's like Vodafone are stealing from us. They take our money each month but don't deliver on service.
31 Dec 2010 09:48:24 AM: I love it how people are relying on texts to pass on important information. Pick up the phone and call.

My business partner and I had same phone for almost 2 years with Vodaphone we experienced the drop outs at an alarming rate on both phones especially in the past 8 months or so, whereby every 3rd call or so dropped out in middle of conversations to businees clients. My Business partner has moved to Telstra drives around, has done so for last 2 months not a drop out from his telstra phone. Yet with my Vodaphone phone standing still ai metro area or where even Vodaphone reception is high it still drops out in an instant. I have 5 months of this to endure until I can walk away from vodaphone.
Trying to call them is now a 2 hour + wait that was on 30Dec2010.
Vodaphone from where you are now you can only go up you cant go down any further.

9436 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Gone at 31 Dec 2010 08:27:22 AM
I have just left Vodafone and returned to Telstra. With Vodafone, I had dropped calls and failed calls most days. There is an area very close to where I live, along the Cooks River Earlwood, where I have NEVER been able to make a call. I always get "Call Failed", and that strange rising pitch signal. I was near the end of my contract, so I was able to unblock my blackberry and give it to one of my children, while I got a new HTC Desire from Telstra. I have had not one failed call so far, and only one dropped call in two weeks. And that is just the phone. Vodafone 3G coverage was extremely patchy, often dropping to GPRS and even EDGE, and the internet on my blackberry was so slow as to be useless. It simply was not worth using the internet for anything. Opening attachments to emails took forever. Now, I can look things up or download files quickly. I just opened a 1.1MB attachment in a few seconds. I have usable internet on my phone for the first time. As for cost, when Vodafone phoned me to sell me a renewal, they could not tell me how much of my cap I was actually using and whether I should go for a cheaper cap. I strongly suspect that I should have been on a cheaper plan, but they could not/would not tell me that information. With Telstra, I have halved my plan costs. Telstra may be more expensive, but they were quite willing to advise me to go for a cheaper plan and upgrade if necessary, instead of selling me the most they could get away with. As for their "support", forget it. The day that I went to Telstra, and the straw that broke any shred of loyalty to Vodafone, was the day AFTER Vodafone had those huge outages in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. I found I could not make phone calls or send texts. I phoned support and was kept on the line for an hour and a half, with the support guy in India repeatedly assuring me there was no outage in my area. He made me reboot three times, he made me swap SIM cards with another phone, and had just suggested we go back to factory settings (which would have involved a huge amount of time setting up my phone with BES all over again) when my employee told me her Vodafone phone was not working, and nor was her friends in another part of the city. So there was an outage, despite the repeated denials! I was at the Telstra shop within half an hour after that.

9433 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more useless than an a-hole on my elbow at 31 Dec 2010 08:18:34 AM
i currently have no signal on my vodafone phone. it has been like this for at least an hour, and I can't seem to fix it. I would call vodafone to complain, but I don't have any reception!!! a similar thing happened a couple of days ago when i went to meet someone in a shopping centre - as soon as I walked through the doors, all my signal dropped out. according to someone in the vodafone store i was "like, the 10th person" to come and complain about no signal, and apparently they were trying to fix it. I think it's a break in contract on their half if I can't rely on their service. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make calls/access the net at any time. In an emergency situation, this would be devastating. I'm not talking about 112 emergencies, but simple everyday emergencies like being late for work, or being in a broken down car. If I can't call my boss or RACQ when I need to, then I need to change services!
damn you vodafone!!!

I have been with vodafone for around 17 months now and the reception issues l have experienced in the Sydney metro area are to numerous to list. Once l lose reception my phone often does not find it again unless l power down and restart. I have tried contacting them at least 10 times, but each time l try I am waiting a ridiculous amount of time. When my contract is up in July, I will be out of there asap. I hope everyone else does the same.

9429 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the devil at 31 Dec 2010 08:11:52 AM
My phone constantly loses reception, text messages dont go through for hours some times. Other times they just aren't received. Just yesterday i left my house keys in a friends bag and it took me 40 minutes to be able to call them and get through without it saying call failed.
I cant even begin to count the amount of times my phone has dropped out mid conversation and i have to call back, which means every time i call back i am charged the 30c connection flag fall.
I could list many problems i have had with vodafone but it could turn in to a novel. Unless anyone on here is a publisher and thinks it might be a good book idea where i could recoup some money i have lost to vodafone i might give it a shot...

Not so much a mess but the same situation as others here, where there is very little reception in carrum downs, victoria and phone calls are cut out more often that not.
Although we've been silly enough to stay with vodafone for years now, we were assured 4 years ago that when we moved from oakleigh south to carrum downs, the reception would be better, then when we renewed our contracts & upgraded our phones, we were assured it was the aerials in the old phone so the new handsets would have better range. Again this was not the case.
We are now awaiting the end of our contract so that we can finally not listen to any more of vodafone's advice & switch carriers.

Me and my mum signed up for a 24 month Vodafone contract just over two years ago on the $49 so that we could each get the Nokia E71's. Throughout our entire time with them out bills were never accurate, we were charged for numbers we had never dialed and internet that my mum didn't use. We never has any reception in our area, even though we were assured by the staff at the fountain gate store that we would. Towards the end of our contract, we were wondering exactly what day our plan expired as we were already fed up with Vodafone's service and wanted to change providers. The contract end date was not specified on our contract so we contacted customer support and spent six hours on hold just to ask when our contract with them expires. We were told by the support staff that it was meant to be the 16th of November, but later when we received a bill for approximately $400 for a 10 day period we were told that it actually expired on the 6th. We took this matter up with authorities and got our account terminated, yet still receive monthly bills of astronomical amounts.

I just moved back to Vodaphone a (who I was with about 10 yrs ealier) from Optus. I have brought accross 3 phones and purchased 3 new handsets on plan with Vodaphone's Crazy John's outlets. I thought Vodaphone would offer similar coverage to Optus espically when there website said (Qutoed from Vodaphone Australia website "Vodafone's 3G network covers more than 94% of the Australian population. GSM (2G) network covers up to 94.52%* of the Australian population. Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia.").

I have had shocking coverage and in the 4 weeks I have been with them I have had limited reception in Toowoomba, No reception at Pittsworth QLD and limited to no coverage in the Tweed Heads area of the Gold Coast. I live in Brisbane and on many occasions I can't get 3G or for that matter internet coverage as my handset seems to drop signal and not connect. This issues is happenong on all 3 of our handsets which are all diffrent makes and models of phones.

I feel that Vodaphone offer no where near 94% coverage to the Australain Population they claim and the quality of service in the (so called lucky few that do have coverage) is not very reliable.

Where do I begin? I have not 1 but 2 phones with Vodafone. I have been a Vodafone customer for atleast 7 years and never have I been so outraged and dismissed by Vodafone themselves. I am a pre-paid customer and I don't know if other pre-paid customers are going through what I am going through. However, I have been insulted, dismissed and treated terribly because I am a pre-paid customer. Are customer's on post-paid being treated better because they can use the whole "i will cancel my contract" to get at Vodafone? I don't know. All I can say is the customer service has been appauling, which is disgusting considering they haven't given me any good service, reception or anything. Pre-paid or not, I am still a Vodafone customer and I expect to be compensated for loss of time, personal business and personal stress that has been caused due to call drop outs, messages that don't get delivered etc.

I have been with Vodafone for the last 6-7years. I have been on $49, $69 caps and now on a $79 cap. Over the last 24months i have had real problems with coverage. I was not working from april to July and my phone bills were around $100. when i started back at work, working six days college 1 full day and 4 hours a night for 3 nights, my phone bill jumped to $400 -$500. In the last 6 months it has just been terrible with network. i have around 2+ calls a day that drop out, around 2+ calls that i cant even connect to but yet my bill jumps by at least $300. when i called at the beginning of december they could not explain to me why it had jumped. all he did was discuss if he changed me to a $79 cap then he can credit those bills and you wont pay more. I thank him in a way for that but at the end of the day why did the bills jump? why after 6+ years did it take me to call for them to help? I am paying more for a coverage that i hardly use!!!

I got an email today telling me that I owe them $325.87 for the last 3 months! I haven't used this phone and am now on hold while waiting to speak to their "investigations team" so they can look into the coverage in my area before they cancel my account - this was supposed to be done months ago! In September I changed from 3 to Vodafone due to reception problems which resulted in 3 roaming to Telstra. Vodafone stated my address was in a good area. Initially things went well but in the last few weeks I have line drop out in my house quiote often. Yesterdat contacted their technical help who stated that my actuall address was likely to have problems but to record the drop outs so they could investigate. Today I again contacted them with details of drop outs but they said again my address would have problems and they would not investigate despite my saying my phone was not much use if I couldn't use it at my own home. My wife is still with 3 and they seem to now be OK.

poor customer service, show no regard for customer loyalty, bad reception.
over the last month i have called them 4 times which has been close to 5 hours. my call was always tranferred, i needed to keep calling back as they failed to return to my call despite saying they would do so within 24hours.
i ended having to go into a store, who them had to contact the same customer service number, the sales guy was on the phone for 2 hours!
the matter has still not been resolved and i was advised to contact the ombudsman. i feel it has gone down hill since they took their customer service off shore.
my wife recently swapped to optus, when she had an issue they quickly dealt with the problem, escalated the issue and quickly reimbursed her. they also made sure they contacted her to sort it out. she also received an apology letter in the mail!
the stark difference in our service and treatment really showed me how poorly vodafone were treating us!

I use pre paid mobile broadband. I was with 3 and always had great coverage. But my usb device got old would drop out as it come lose and break conection.
Being with Vodafone with my mobile phone i went with them for my internet, WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!
Before i brought it i asked how good was the coverage, i told the guy where i lived. He told me he wasnt far from me and he most of the time had full coverage and somtetimes it would only drop one bar but that was rare and didnt even affect as it was only one bar down. So on this being said i brought it.
When i went home and tryed to conect i couldnt get NOT ONE bar of reception. After two days of trying on the third day i was finally able to conect ONLY WITH ONE BAR.
After i full week of most times getting no coverage and sometimes only concecting with one bar (even then would most times just cut out) i had had enough. I went back to the same shop and told them how unhappy i was with my POOR concetion. I was told "The tower for this area is down, but they are already fixing it so it wont take much longer"
A month later and nothing has changed WHAT I LIE!!! Then it starts coming in the paper about this problem. I could of been told the truth before i brought it, but i guess selling them off the shelves and pretenting to deal with the problem later is more important to Vodafone, then telling the truth and letting people go to other companies.
I was always happy with Vodafone with my mobile phone. BUT THIS IS BECOME THEN A JOKE!!! thanks for nothing Vodafone!!!!

My GF has just received a photo I sent to her 9 DAYS AGO! It also appears that the network no longer recognises my phones ability to send photos via my mobile handset !! Bad weather appears to also adversely affect the network , why is it that in the middle of the Parramatta CBD ( outside , not in a building) the reception will intermittently disappear , then magically re- appear , then in the middle of a call ( still being stationary mind you ) go back to zero , with the subsequent loss of the call ! I had less dropouts when the mobile network was first introduced all those years ago !!

I just can't win! With 2 iPhone 4s, $200.00 min. Per month going to the company u would think one call wouldn't drop on me. Moving from "3" to vodafone was stupidity on my behalf, I have seriously gone from bad to worse!! So being a "valued" client I called immediately after the first week to be faced with a 46 minute wait time then an extra 33 minutes as I pressed the button for customer assist not tech support! Oh it gets better after taking a landline number upon calling back the information given was the "system" was down so they couldn't help me! He assured I would hear from him asap once the system "rebooted"
For the record this was 7weeks ago... No callback no reception and no $$!

I've been a loyal Vodafone customer since OneTel went bust and haven't been elsewhere since. I have 2 mobiles and 3G mobile internet with Vodafone. I've been pretty happy in the past but these last 3 months have been bad for 3G in Turramurra and in the last 3 weeks the 3G network has been so bad that all I have is GPRS at the speed of the late 90's on copper phone lines and 486 computers! Contracts are 2 way and not one way. I agreed to pay for a service and not be cheated and lied to only to give away my dollars without anything in return. So contracts can be broken if either party stops delivering their end of the bargain. Basic contract law!!!So Vodafone had better deliver some compensation to their customers until it's fixed or refund or else it looks like another OneTel to me!

Trouble shooting

We have been working hard to improve the network and build in new capacity, but if you are still experiencing difficulties with your Vodafone service, we would encourage you to contact us on 1555. If you experience any wait time when you contact us, please select the call back option and we will return your call.
Our Technical Support Team in on hand to talk to you about your experiences, take note of your feedback, escalate the issue to our Network Team, when required, and we will consider cases where we may provide you with account credits, where appropriate, to compensate you for any recent inconvenience.
To investigate the issue, our Technical Support team, will ask you for a few quick questions:
How long have the issues been occurring?
What location / locations are you experiencing difficulties?
On what dates and times have the issues occurred?
What brand and model of handset are you using?
Once we have established this information, here are some of the trouble shooting steps that we will walk you through, which may help to improve your network experience:
Perform a Manual Network Selection on the handset to confirm we have access from the handset to the network
Switch the handset off and on to check if this then re-establishes the network connection
Check for any known network outages or planned work at the locations
Check the coverage at your reported locations
If the issue is not rectified through the initial troubleshooting it will be raised as a fault for our network team to investigate it further.
Following the investigation by our network team, there will be a number of possible outcomes such as:
Confirmation that there is an impacted site and a timeframe for when the site is due to be fixed
There is marginal coverage in the specific area and a timeframe as to when we expect the coverage to improve.
There is conjestion at the site, which we will seek to alleviate as part of our network capacity upgrades.
If the coverage is not due to improve in the short term, or we cannot suggest a device to improve network performance such as Pocket Wi-Fi or an alternative handset, we will consider a number of options such as the possibility of an account credit until the issue is resolved or releasing you from your contract when an appriopriate resolution cannot be achieved within a reasonable timeframe.
Each individual customer issue can have different symptoms, such as problems with making or receiving calls, dropped calls, delayed text or voicemail messages or slow data speeds, and this is why we need to look at each case individually and provide a suitable solution for that issue. Some issues are quickly solved and some may take slightly longer to resolve. We will do our best to indicate a time frame for resolution of your particular issue.
We have a major network upgrade program underway and the sites that will be upgraded to improve coverage in the first quarter of 2011 will soon be published on this website. We will keep this up to date so you get a better picture of coverage improvements that may be coming soon to your area.
Thank you for your patience as we work through these issues to improve your network experience.

31 Dec 2010 08:13:15 AM: Cormac, thanks for the BS email, Being direct of customer service & experience, again you have not listened or heard your customer complaints, if I was in your position, I would not only be embarrassed but probably hire someone alot more competent with skills in serving customers. Please understand, that you have broken your contracts to more and more customers everyday, you promise things that is so obvious by this website does not happen, are you just trying to be funny!!! You are serious about these problems being fixed and someone will call us back!!! I believe we have all been patient, maybe you guys should just start actually be proactive and not reactive to a situation which is so far out of hand, I really believe you will not be able to fix this in the immediate future. Poor you, what a huge negative to your branding, not even your sponsorships at sporting events will fix this and looks to me, that vodafone will loose a large majority of its customers to service providers whom actually provide a service. Good luck, hope you dont have to join the employment line too soon!!!!

9361 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Epically,Infinite FAIL at 30 Dec 2010 10:44:55 PM
At first I got the Sony Ericsson c902 on plan from you guys from about 2-3 years ago and i had to return it 3 times due to the phone being a peice of crap. The fourth time the phone was okay, but there was dropouts, message delays and terrible reception, but eh i thought maybe you guys will fix it.

Anyways i decided to stupidly switch to an nokia n97, the customer service girl on the phone told me that its a really good phone. Anyways after a month the phone was buggy as well, dropouts, message delays and the terrible reception was terribly worse and i thought eh ill return the phone and get a new one.... maybe its the phone?

Anyways i got a new one.... SAME FRIGGIN THING!! I even switched my sim card to another phone and its still terrible.

9352 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Full Bars...but no calls, SMS, 3G, nothing. Not happy. at 30 Dec 2010 10:13:00 PM
I work in Surry Hills in Sydney CBD and have no reception at all. Everyday I work I enter a 'blackhole' where no signal gets in or gets out. It's not until the trip home from work that I start to get any reception and receive SMS that would have been sent to me hours ago.

I don't use my phone as much as some people but I guess I am entitled to any compensation too. I use my Wifi network at home instead of 3G. I shouldn't have to but it appears that Vodafone does not have 3G. I will be definitely looking into the issue further.

9351 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is merger at 30 Dec 2010 10:12:03 PM
Used to work for 3 mobile until the merger between the 2 and a fair few of us lost our jobs... It seems clear that mergering the 2 networks is causing a lot of the reception issues. trying to make the 2 networks run side by side while also being able to roam with their respective roaming partners (3- tel, voda-opt) its weird but we were told this was likely to cause pain... its just a pity they are not so forth coming with their customer base. Also the high wait times of their conatact centre.. 3 used to have LITTLE to NONE.... now its wrapped up in the high wait times and rudeness of the voda network as a whole...
30 Dec 2010 10:47:50 PM: For an ex staff member your very mis informed. The merger has not combined the networks at all, so claiming reception issues caused by that is incorrect as voda towers aren't related to 3 towers. This will stay that way till 3's contract with Telstra runs out. As for the call centers, the call center in Mumbai formally was 3's and is now VHA's, however the departments are still separate, calling 3's customer care line will go to their section and staff, which haven't changed.
30 Dec 2010 10:53:15 PM: hahaha, ok... I wont talk about the testing we were all involved in in regards to the networks then... all good..

If I'm lucky in do called good reception areas it may go up to 3 bars, but loose connection as soon as I make a call. Have to go outside and stand in the street to talk and even to just send a sms. Can't send picture messages except when I'm in an area with very good reception which are not many in WA. I'm on a 2 year contract with 11 months to go. So, upgraded to a HTC Desire HD which is only available on Vodafone. Now I have no reception while at home and even in the CBD the calls are dropping out. Vodafone offered to cancel the contract which is nice of them but does not make up for all the lost calls etc. Apart from that, I really like the phone so if I move to a new network I'd have to change the phone....

I checked 3 and although they have the same phone, they don't have the same deal so I'd have to pay more. Apart from that 3 fails over to the Telstra network so I'd end up paying roaming charges for data...

80% of the time in my home I will have "no service" on my iPhone. I rarely get 1 bar of service & when I do it's a race against time to either send or receive any messages before the "network lost" alert appears. It was extremely frustrating to get a new phone on a plan which I defiantly can't complain about - except that I can't actually use it in my home. Extremely dussapointing indeed & defeats the purpose of having the phone. If it weren't for having wi-fi Internet in our home, the phone would be completely useless to me 70% of the time

Just drove 50 kms to a high coverage area and tried again got nearly to end of download but vodafone disconnected me again , so no update yet charged again!
Really pissed off now can't get a update , check emails ( which I need for my business)
I'm on my mobile writing this cause that thank god isn't vodafone!
Spend hours and mega bucks in calls to them to speak to someone who I can't understand , to be told your in a black spot! Well is the whole of Perth a black spot? No vodafone just sucks!

the network is already bad enough. and the customer service on the phones are not either because they do not even have any records of what deal we signed up for. even the the staff members are not fully corporated with our complaint as they do not believe what we are saying is right. therefore they are not doing anything abut it. 15 people in my friend circle signed up for a deal and none of them are satisfied as the customer service people lied to us or did not put the deal they provided in the system. their goes our big bucks and goes our respect and loyalty to vodafone. our connection was disconnected because they were on a fault. My co-worker and I were at Vodafone Select for 18 months.
The whole time we were there we recieved complaints of poor reception and experienced it ourselves.
We were informed that the reception was being improved throughout the entire employment but instead we watched the network go downhill.
Text Messages are rarely recieved on time, sometimes even coming through the next day.
Our service is constantly dropping out, making calls almost impossible.
Internet reception and speed is pityful.
If a customer complained all we were advised to tell them is that "they're working on it", clearly, this wasn't the case.
My co-worker and I have recently seeked other employment, with Telstra. Where we can now RELY on the product we are trying to sell.
Over all Vodafone is one big failure and we are ashamed of ever working for that company.
Get yourselves out of your contracts!!!

All year I have been having problems with voice messages. Visual voicemail works on and off on my iphone 3gs, but mostly off! Any voice messages can take several days to arrive.
Also, Vodafones website says they have full coverage in Bywong NSW (just outside ACT) but there is little to no reception at all.
There customer support via the phone is extremely slow. They repeatedly ask for the same details during the one call, and transfer me (slowly) a lot, and no body seems to be able to help.

Having been a loyal customer of vodafone in NZ first for 10 years then OZ for the last 3 years I am finally taking the leap to telstra. This decision is based on the poor coverage both with broadband and mobile calls/text that I have experienced for three years hoping things would improve and they haven't if anything the situation has gotten worse. This example is for today I received a message from vodafone advising I had three new messages, my phone hadn't rung and the messages were left the day prior on my phone by friends. For the last week and about 5pm every day I have not been able to make/receive calls or text. Vodafone your customer service is just as bad as Telstras, When I cancelled my broadband account there was a credit of $50 on there, it took three months and many phone calls to get this this money transferred to my mobile phone account as I thought this would be straight forward and easy, I would have been better off getting a cheque posted out! I could go on about the coverage and service problems I have encountered only to be informed from the Customer Service staff that it was the phone I had, a phone that your company sold me. Shame on you Vodafone your roll out of improving the system should not have taken three years and the Customer Service you provide is seriously lacking!

The service is not that good here in New Zealand either. the 3G network never operates at peak performance and for $75 dollars a month its total rubbish. It doesn't matter whether you are on contract or on pre-paid you still pay a fortune for your phone calls at nearly 90 cents a minute. I have to stand in the middle of my west hobart yard and face east for the phone to work. I am lucky if the phone does not drop out. I have installed a high gain antenna and hands free davice to my vehicle so i can actually make and receive business calls with fewer drop outs. The drop out problem is frustrating, I have resorted to invested in a Telstra phone to call customers as it is equally frustrating for them to be cut off at random all the time. I have tried to get out of my contract with Vodafail and they simply say sorry that I am liable for the full term cost of the contract should I cancell. I point out to them that I am not getting the service that I am paying for, and it is already costing me extra money with lost customers and down time through constant droped calls and third world reception.
30 Dec 2010 10:23:15 PM: I'm also in West Hobart and find Vodafone's 'broadband' service is useless. The modem connects to 3G but data speed is often sub-dialup. The signal strength is abysmal (-95dBm, which is very low: about one-tenth of the signal from Optus and Telstra). On the other hand, Vodafone's 2G phone service is mostly OK, apart from inside shopping centres.

vodafone coverage is getting what seems to be worse, every day i now i am being told im not registered on network, or that i am out of signal in big cities, this is absurd, no one can give a reason, but now im locked in to a contract for 2 years that i cant get out of, after being asured of the coverage with vodafone, as well as that my phone calls never go over my cap but it keeps going up, again, no one has the answers, not the vodafone stores and not the call center, i just keep getting blown off from one to the other, with at leats a 45min wait for either, this has been going on for far too long, this is ridiculous, theyre happy to sign you up quickly but when it comes to problems they take their time, but every bill im paying is around $200.00 on a $69.00 cap, how is this?? this is unexplainable from both in store and on phone, but i still have to pay them. get your act together vodafone when will you realise that without your customers you dont have a company.

31 Dec 2010 09:46:39 PM: had one VF store tell me he only deals with his clients...not other VF customers....reported it to VF and they did nothing until 2nd call and reminded them of legal obligations to customers....got joy then....

9257 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Reception at 30 Dec 2010 06:54:32 PM
I popped into my local store today to discuss with them as to why i cant seem to get reception in certain areas and why my calls always drop out and when my friends try to call it says my phone is off yet i can have full reception at that time. The Reply i was given by my store was " there was a thing on the news if you watched it you would know and that i need to call their customer service number". Annoyed i walked out. Comeon Vodafone get your act together this is not good enough i should be able to get reception anywhere and calls should not drop out. Sincerly - ANNOYED CUSTOMER -

9255 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Big fail at 30 Dec 2010 06:51:16 PM
I signed upto Vodaphone due to the great sound plans/caps (good value and low call rates).

I had excellent coverage boasted to me and it has been horrible. I live in Bray park outside of brisbane. I get horrible reception and multiple call drop outs ( The record has been about 4 drop outs in a half hour conversation) The data is painfully slow and my battery drains rapidly ( it's always going flight by the time I drive home from work).

I am on a 24 month contract and I want out badly. Why pay for 2 GB of data when it's too slow to bother using it??

Also my mobile is my only phone ( no land line) so reliability is important to me.
1 Jan 2011 02:25:00 PM: phone dropouts and a drained battery - sure it isnt your handset?

30 Dec 2010 06:54:11 PM: Check out the 'how to complain' link at the top of this page. The TIO is no doubt where you all have to go, but firstly follow all of the steps along the way :)

9252 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very disappointing at 30 Dec 2010 06:43:54 PM
Went into the apple shop in Robin just before christmas to sign the wife up to a new contract with Three so she could get an Iphone. The salesmen said he wasn't able to do a three contract as it was an upgrade from an existing 3 customer. These had to be done through Three. However he advised us that he could upgrade her to a Vodafone plan and that it was a much better one as it had much more included for the same price.

He said the reason behind this is that In 6 to 12 months all existing Three customers will have to move over to the Vodafone network so the company is discouraging people signing up with Three by making the contacts with Vodafone a better deal.

I expressed my concerns that I knew Three's reception work well for us at home and I was hesitant to sign with Vodafone as it was unknown. He however show'd me their coverage Map and that our area was fully covered. I said I believe those maps don't paint the full picture and it varies greatly depending on where u are in suburb and what kind of dwelling your in. He assured though that the coverage would be fine. Not wanting to wait 10 weeks to get a phone through Three we reluctantly signed up.

Since we have had it we get nothing but 1 bar of reception on their 3G network, That doesn't seem enough to make the internet work, We often get call drop outs and it will often will roam on Vodafone's 2G network. We are now locked in to a 2 year contract with a phone that doesn't work like it should and we can't get out of it.

I don't even get reception on a main street in Sydney close to the CBD! I have to WALK OUT of my workplace just to make a call or to receive the VOICEMAILS I've been getting because no one can get through to me! And when I call vodafone (About other non-reception related issues) I get no help at all!

9246 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is shit, even their staff say the same! at 30 Dec 2010 06:25:56 PM
I went into Queen st mall, Brisbane store yesterday, I spoke to the same sales person who signed me up to Vodafone 3 weeks ago. I asked him what the hell is going on with their crap network, and he said and I quote " I know its just shit at the moment " haha fuck me where is the ACCC when you need them? Oh thats right their all on flex Govt leave. haha FAIL. How about Vodafone spend less time sponsoring major events like the Ashes and their V8 Supercar race team and fix their ridiculously bad network! VodaFail!

9244 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is bunch of sooks at 30 Dec 2010 06:21:08 PM
everyones acting like this is the first time in the world a mobile network has had a capacity problem, does everyone here think that nothing usually breaks down sometimes?
30 Dec 2010 06:23:41 PM: i guess this means all the buses run on time, or that i'll never have to go to a mechanic again, maybe there will never be a blackout again and i'll have infinite power connection, and yea NAB never happened
30 Dec 2010 06:25:48 PM: If it was purely a capacity problem, 1) this wouldn't have been going on for months and months and 2) the issue could be fixed quickly. Nab had their issues fixed within a week, yet Vodafone fails to have their issues fixed after months?
30 Dec 2010 06:27:12 PM: OPTUS only just got all there problems sorted out several months ago with the OPEN network, The president of Google was talking about this happening to mobile networks at the beginning of the year Vodafone looks like they've fallen behind

Please explain the difference between the Vodafone network and the 3 network. I had a few problems with my 3 service, but now that Vodafone took over 3 my phone coverage is crap, really really crap. Does your vodafail include the 3 network??
30 Dec 2010 06:04:02 PM: Networks are still completely separate. Has nothing to do with the merge.

9235 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Partial at 30 Dec 2010 05:54:43 PM
I constantly have reception with Vodafone, and fortunately haven't been missing calls recently - but when at work - data works on one side, and not on the other.

Always showing 3+ bars and 3G connection - but if I'm out having a coffee on one side, data connections just won't work - but yet on the other side - works fine.

Fail from tower to tower?

9234 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad at 30 Dec 2010 05:53:48 PM
Pretty tough as I am trying to change jobs. My service was actually alright until December hit. I would say I went from a 100% satisfied customer to 5%. Moved to SA for Christmas... rarely ANY coverage. Head hunters ringing me and indicating they are not getting my emails or my phone is often in an out service area. It is a bit better back in Sydney but again... it just frequently says No service.

I think if the service can't handle the volume then they should credit our december bill.
