Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

5308 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100% fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:29:29 PM
I was on vodafone for years, multiple dropouts. Couldn't have a phone conversation longer than a couple of minutes without it dropping out. Very embarrassing when you are applying for jobs. Msgs came through days later and calls often wouldn't even come through.
After multiple calls to ask them to fix something simple (that of course they claimed wasn't their fault) I went to 3 mobile.
3 were great, not a problem...until a couple of months ago when vodafone took over. now calls wont connect, phone lines drop out, reception goes from full to nothing without even moving spots causing the phone to drop out. full reception, open the internet and nope its gone again.
The other day my phone claimed to have full reception, yet a call didn't come through because of no reception.
I didn't move to 3 to deal with vodafone shit again.
My contract is up in 2 weeks, and if there is no improvement or explanation from vodafone by then, then Im out. I hope they finally see how bad they have got. Stop pumping your money into advertising and start looking after the customers you already have, because at this rate there wont be many of them left.

5307 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 09:29:28 PM
I live in the CBD (melbourne) and have half strength signal most of the time, with daily drop-outs, and voice delays...having alot of missed txt messages or receiving a sms up to 3 hours later, I decided to test the service.. sitting in the same room with another vodafone user, we txted to see how long the sms would take to arrive... it took on average 7 minutes with one turning up the following day...what the F ?????? their service has only got worse since merging with 3... I have a 3 mobile broadband service, which is the biggest rip-off, never reaches the speeds its advertised to be able to do...more like dial up speeds most of the time, also they have a trick where they tell you that your data allowance has been used up, and to purchase more, I log in my user account to view how much data I have left (as I do often) but mysteriously that service doesn't show up, so believing im out off data, I buy more, once bought, my user account updates showing me that I have more data than I just bought,(sometime up to 750MB extra) meaning I was never out of data in the first place... tricking me into buy more. I even had this happen a few hours after buying 2Gb of data, I hadn't even used the internet within that time, customer service keeps telling me that there is no problems with their service, and that I can always view how much data I have left via my user account online ... who are they kidding. vodafone and 3 (both being the same network) will never have my business again. off to Telstra I go !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

As a uni student i spend a crap load of time on campus, going to classes, library etc, unfortunately the whole time i'm at uni, i have little to no coverage on my phone at all. The only way i can get any coverage is to walk out into the wilderness (yes i'm at Griffith @ Nathan) & wave my phone around in the air like a buffoon. Needless to say the moment i get a signal by the time i've pressed call & put the phone to my ear the signal is gone. I wish i was told when i signed up for my 24 month plan something like "Hey, i know we ask for less ID to sign up on a plan & our plans are pretty cheap, but just between you & me, our coverage is shit, yeah, real shit." Something like that would have been nice. Luckily my plan runs out in 4 months, 20 months of minimal network coverage (even in my own home & i live in a very metro area!) i'm pretty fed up.

We were told by the sales lady our suburb had Vodafone coverage. As soon as we got home...NO SERVICE at all unless we walk a few metres up the street. We get minimal coverage at work and minimal coverage in certain areas near where we live. I have tried complaining a couple of times...not only am I made to wait along time...the buck is passed to 3 different people all of whom I cannot understand. The first time I was told they were doing maintainance in our area and the coverage should be fine in 3 days but after 3 days still no service. The last time I called them I wanted to cancel our 2 year contract (my partner and I both have Iphones)explaining that both our phones have no coverage at all at home but they said it might be a faulty phone and sent an email with instructions as to what might be wrong with the phone and how to fix it. I didnt understand the instructions and havent bothered calling them back as I have no desire to speak with a person I do not understand so I keep putting it off!!! We have learned to live with no service at home only due to the fact that I can send my partner a message whilst he is at work on facebook. But as we live in a high risk fire danger area due to excessive trees, we experiance blackouts regularly and if there was a fire near us we would then lose all forms of communication with anyone. Or just a simple blackout means if there is an emergancy at home there is no communication for us at all. In this day and age it is simply NOT ON!!!My partner has alot to say about Vodafone himself but he wont be so polite about it!!!

Ok cannot use Vodafone out near Brisbane Airport, have to stand on the roof of my mates house in the middle of Toowoomba, an forget any sort of internet coverage in Noosa (where by you pay per minute on roaming!!) Lara is STUPID and does not listen and frustrates the hell out of me, but with all that the only decent thing they've dont is add 500mb to their $29 Cap (IF YOU CAN USE IT!!) Oh and for some reason they don't allow you to use your mobile as a modem where as OPTUS did.....

5303 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 09:28:09 PM
The purchase of two phones online through Vodafone was the most appalling shopping experience I have ever had. The dabacle lasted 3 weeks before I got the phones - this after phoning everyday, holding for ages, speaking to people all over the planet... When I finally get the phones going, I find I barely have any coverage. The Vodafone Map naturally shows full coverage in my area. I cannot keep a SINGLE call to the end where I live! Every single call drops out. What regrets...

signed up with vodafone after an ironclad guarantee they had exceptional coverage, even advised it was better than telstra. get phone home to find intermittent 1 bar of service, and we live less than 5km from the server tower, try to discuss the issue with them they deny there is any issue, and say didnt you check our coverage maps. Ah hello we are not idiots, as for three dont go there. no coverage and dropouts are what Vodafone are famous for, vodafone should offer all customers experiencing issues an immediate exit from contracts or fix the system.

As a resident of Melton, I had constant trouble with my VF reception. Making a call, then keeping the connection. On one occassion in the middle of winter I was in my courtyard standing on the outdoor table as this was the only acceptable spot. Ridiculous! Now as a resident in Caroline Springs, great VF reception so got a VF USB for the internet. Absolute rubbish. Constant frustration. Lucky dip as to where it would work in the house at any point in time. Changed my internet provider.

I am with THEE who are owned by Vodafone.
I get 1 gig per month internet usage on my iPhone of which i use approx 200 meg on average.
When I "roam" outside of a 3 network area I get billed for internet usage. But when that happens, I roam from THREE to VODAFONE. IT's THE SAME COMPANY yet I have to pay!!!
I asked for this feature to be turned off. No can do.

Also

I work on "Level Seven" of an office block in the city. I have 1 bar of coverage if i am lucky from either three or vodafone.

Frequently get no bars/no signal in Coburg, 8kms fro Melbourne CBD.

Also had no signal in Carlton, 3kms from the CBD.

Voicemails can take a day to arrive.

3G speeds are appalling, at least compared to telstra.

Maybe rumours that voda/3 dumped all 3 users onto the voda network are true?

Forget about the reception or call drops or for that matter nething. The customer service people of Vodafone even abuse u. I no longer live in sydney however Vodafone is a worldwide company so it seems to be obvious that they do teach their employees about basic ethics of being on a Phone with a customer. Fortunately i recorded the entire conversation while i was being abused and when i called back again to speak to a manager i was repeatedly disconnected. After several attempts i was finally able to talk to some1, and xpressed my concern to which i was promised a call bak by a manager, which still has'nt happened in the last 2weeks. Adding to my dismay they have now disconnected my Fone number which i have been using for the last 12years.

Contractual obligations not met by Vodafone themselves, poor reception in some areas where Vodafone claims good coverage after two service checks/requests - blamed my phone which should have out performed similar models at the time.

Late SMS's.

VERY DIFFICULT to stop or make changes to your contract, but it's OK for Vodafone to double-charge, make accounting and billing errors and threaten you with legal action when you protest their incompetence. Sales staff are lying assholes, they promise you various things/services/rebates but they do not materialise after a contract has begun.

Very expensive calls for the quality of service you get.

Had the same rubbish in the UK and in Holland too, never again. Vodafone is yet another (globally) shit company to deal with.

Ive been a vodafail customer for over 10yrs , since moving out of the city the networks performance has been dismal ... on the hume hwy to sydney there are massive blacksopts where the phone has zero to 1 bar useless service .
During the course of work where i travel out west the phone is virtually dead for hours and hours .
there were localised problems after storms where there was no service for days ... this happened 3 times ... each time there was no apology or explanation from vodafone , neither did they offer any extensions to my 30 day credit ... i contacted them to vent my anger , each time i received an automated response ...
over the past 3 months the service is getting worse , it seems that the network is dying

i am in newcastle .. my messages can take 3 hours to be recieved, sometimes they can even just vanish, 3g works one minute the drops out, then comes back again without moving, picture messages are nearly impossibe, if i try 10 times one might get thru. voicemail can take days to come thru also. Been on going like this for nearly 3 months.
Tried calling vodafone several times. waited 40 min and had to hang up. Finally got someone to call me back. Total waste of time because i couldnt understand them. They put me thru to technical department and it took another 40 min so had to hang up again. Tried again another day and someone called me back. They kept trying to blame my phone and wanted me to keep trying to change my settings. They couldnt understand that it works perfect one minute then not the next so clearly the settings on the phone are ok and it is a network issue.
Nothing has changed since the settings were changed but there is no way i have hours to spare to try calling back to complain when they wont do anything about it anyway. so so so so bloody frustrating.
I also emailed my complaint.. what a joke that was. they emailed back about 3 times over a 3 week period asking me to confirm my details so they could continue the complaint. What a pathetic systems. Sorry to say it but my contract is up in 4 months and i am out of voda for good. Even if the network service is fixed i am not going to deal with a company that i cannot contact if i have an issue.

5282 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 09:19:32 PM
Came over to vfone from telstra. Was talked into buying a Nokia N97 over an iphone and a more expensive Nokia, that was the first problem. Little did i know at the time the N97 was and still is one of the most repaired, replaced and returned phones. It was a lemon from new. After trying to return it at Epping and South Morang vfone stores (as they said any problem with the phone within the first 3 months they would accept it back and give me a new one), they kept telling me to wait for the software update that would fix everything. This phrase became the norm for the next few months, there was an update for the phone just about every month. They only accepted it back for repair when the phone got hot and actually died, even then they tried to refuse it back because they had no loan phones. The new phone they gave me was just as much a piece of shit as the last, software glitching, freezing, turning off, taking photos on its own, etc. Now thats just the problems with customer service and the phone, now to the network. I work in Fairfield in Melbourne, close suburb to the CBD. Never did I have trouble with service there with telstra, I am lucky to have 2 or 3 bars of reception at the most at my workplace, inside or outside. I constantly have no internet access even when I have full reception on my phone, phone calls drop out and say connection error, sms will not send for no reason, and worst of all being on hold forever to find out what is going on is a joke. So I emailed a complaint, and just got handballed back to the retail stores who plain don't care either. I am so pissed for going to vodafone, I would have been better off using two tin cans and a length of string to communicate with people.

Logged onto vodafones website to check the coverage of pre-paid broadband in Hamilton for my father. Website said it had coverage. Checked with the sales person in store before buying the usb modem about coverage and they also brought up the same map I had looked at. Spent money on the modem only to find out there is ZERO coverage in Hamilton - so, wasted time (there was a massive wait in store) and money!

I have been with vodaphone for years. Up until a few months ago never had a problem and I live in a rural area. All of a sudden had no coverage, phone would just drop out etc. Contacted vodaphone....long wait then was told it was my phone...yet this phone was working fine with other sims, still does, I told them this and they hung up on me. I was never able to get through again...sent umpteen emails only to be told they need 50,000 bits of info that they already had including exact times, dates etc when phone was doing this. I told them to shove it....brought a new phone it still did the same...sent final email... talking legal action...and hey wow phone working now and has not slipped up for three weeks...funny that...

After waiting nearly an hour to get through to their so called help line, all I got were broken promises about services being expanded, and nothing about how to fix poor reception. I was in a 2 year contract so I had to suffer with poor connection, slow speed, no help and a price increase. I couldnt wait to dump them. I have a long memory and Ill never touch them again.

Poor coverage. Have been on vodafail for a while. Have been on contract for quite some time i am just over complaining i have seriously heard a goat (i am not kidding) well it seriously sounded like one in the backround when trying to enquire.
For starters I went to vodafone on a plan about a year ago and was told 'i could get up to date balances on how much has been spent on my plan' that was the reason i went to a plan. Blatant false advertising. I found out when my mobile bill was excessive. depending who i talked to at the vodafone shops or over the phone enquiries all different answers. Even checked the website which stated that up to date balances could be checked.
After a week and a half of getting no where with customer service, was talking to the manager of the section i was calling and we were on a first name basis. got absolutely no where my bill was changing consistently every couple of days.
I had the problem resolved by calling a highly unpromoted number... The vodafone resolution team, i actually talked to someone in Australia, they read my file and fixed it quickly. But still wasted heaps of time. And if you look closely at the terms and conditions which you have to agree to it states;

INDEMNITY
You must indemnify and hold harmless Vodafone or its employees contractors
and agents and keep them indemnified, against all loss, actions,
proceedings, costs, expenses (including legal fees), claims and damages
arising from:

(a) any breach by you of these terms; or

(b) reliance by you on any information obtained through Myvodafone.com.au
'extract from vodafone website june 2009'
Meaning they can lie to us or give us misleading information, nice...
it might be worded differently now.

Now onto the present. In the shop it clearly states that i have coverage where i live and good coverage. Well in the real world its almost non-existent. While adding to consistent drop outs along the F3 freeway. At least 3 times in 15km. This is just on the Central Coast, One is between Tuggerah and Ourimbah, the other Near the top of the Ourimbah hill and another is not only between Ourimbah and Gosford exits but also right before the gosford exit.

But my advice to anyone having problems lodge a complaint and get the reference number then contact the TIO

I live in Western Sydney. I first had a Vodaphone wirless prepaid, the connection speed was so pathetic I spent many hours talking to people in Egypt who were not available after 8pm at night, they always said it was my computer that was at fault. In the end I returned the modem after the service people gave me permission for a full refund. I then went and bought a 3G prepaid modem to find i was still with the same Vodaphone network! After many hours of calls to India they finally gave me an investigation number. The technical people from India were more helpful but still said there was nothing wrong with the system even when online to them I was unable to even run the speed test. In the end they advised me to try another carrier as they couldn't do anything to improve my speeds which were about 20-25% of the network average. The also agreed to unlock my modem so that i could go to another carrier. In short the network speed is atrocious. We pay good money and they just don't deliver!

I have had nothing but poor reception and dropouts. I thought it was just my phone, but turns out no, it's VF. reading all these other accounts of VFs service it was like looking into a mirror. their coverage is poo! depending on the weather (ie wind, rain, storms, clouds, sunshine and anything else) my using my phone is like playing roulette. Sometimes works in the lounge/bedroom/kitchen/outside, but usually not. and because it has worked once in a particular location, it does not mean that it will work there again later, or even during the same conversation. i am very keen and interested in joining any class action that may take place. i will next time most likely just go with telstra regardless of the cost - just so i can feel like a prince with my superior network coverage regardless of the cost ;-)

been fighting with vodafone over same issue since august with useless handset - usual range problems (dropping out, loss of reception in my local supermarket), continued loss of important contacts (i work with vulnerable clients) refusal to replace handset, many trips to the store, a total of FOURTEEN hours on hold over 5 calls to customer "care" (haha) - including one FOUR HOUR wait on 23/12 which was not answered in the end. i was blatently lied to - promised resolution and a new handset in october. despite the dreadful, non-existent service, i continue to be billed, with promises of "refund" later. meanwhile i have been without the technology i need for 4 months now. i want my contract cancelled and my fees refunded

I recently signed up to a Crazy Johns contract and as I soon as i got home I had no reception, I asked at the time of purchase specifically about the Vodaphone coverage and was told, that it was as good as anyone else and that "an interstate truck driver that uses the Vodafone Network says it's better then Telstra", I was also told that 3 are hiring towers from Vodafone because they have the best coverage. I had my phone a couple of monthes and have terrible reception sometimes no reception at all. When I finally had a day off work I went to Crazy Johns and was told that it was really unusual and that they hadn't had any complaints about reception in my area, they showed me a computer graphic that showed there was perfect coverage in my area. I was told to find a friend on Vodafone and compare the signal, if they are different then they may have to check my phone as it may be faulty!!
So now I'm locked in a 2 year contract with a phone I can use sometimes...it's that bad at home that I have to walk around until I get 1 bar to make a call. I usually have to go stand out on my driveway!
My sms's regularly don't send and I've recently found out that I don't receive them alot of the time...
I sent an MMS to some friends at 1pm in the afternoon and they all received it a 2am in the morning..at least they got it I guess!
I'm glad the truth is out though, I was thinking i was going nuts!!!
Thanks Jason

no reception, call fade outs, bad reception, lack of coverage, their coverage maps are BS, OS call centres are a Joke, after many emails and phone calls getting no where I listed my issues with the TIO then went and changed my number over to a new provider, ALL GOOD, still in contract, but its pretty basic, a CONTRACT is between TWO parties , one has to provide the said given service the other has to pay for it, quite simply if they cant deliver the service I don't pay, simple really. They can waster their time with the TIO explaining their rip off to them, I'm over them.

I use Vodafone for internet. The connection speed is very poor all the time. I am unable to connect to the internet at most times. They include data uploaded/sent as part of the usage amount. They only should include data we download as part of our usage. A month ago there was no coverage for internet for 2 days.

When I call customer service, I end up speaking to an Automatic Lara who can't understand my voice no matter how clearly I speak. After having to deal with Lara, I then have to put up with a service representative at a call centre in India who is worse than Lara.

27 Dec 2010 09:12:58 PM: Lara a virtual person that do not exist,it's so frustrating to deal and time consuming to us. as we want our problem solves asap. We want to talk to a person that can solve our problem but this is not the case. I think Vodacrap have lost the plot here in 360degree.

Handset = had 3 mobiles, 2 faulty!
Customer Service = "Lara" has a hearing problem, anything more that 10 mins wait time is unacceptable, the service is Indian, Malaysian or other. Rarely spoken with Aussie in an Aussie call centre!

NOT HAPPY JAN!

Thrilled about this website! Awesome idea........ now will they get this message!!!!

HORRIBLE RECEPTION! My calls CONSTANTLY drop out and I can't get service half the time. I could not receive international txt messages for about 4 months, I called Vodafone about a billion times and they kept giving me the run around. Finally I did my own research on the internet and found out that anyone with a 0426 # had the same problem. and the only way to fix it was to change my number... So I had to call them, tell them how to fix their own problem, and now after taking the time to hand out tons of job resumes no one can reach me cause my number is changed. Vodafone YOU SUCK!
ALSO, their internet is awful! Super slow and constantly drops out, the other day the software died on me and I had to spend hours on the phone trying to fix that problem.
Pick another company for mobile coverage cause Vodafone is trouble!

I have all the issues that people are stating here. Little to no reception, my reception basically always has 1 bar. People informing me that my phone is off when it is not, and i areas where i have full reception. I can go on.

The one thing that really bothers me about vodafone is their website. I find it is and always has been incredibly frustraing to use. Error messages always popping up when trying to access different parts of the site. Have to right click and then select open in new window to access part of the site i wanted to go to. Phones support a couple months back to find out when my plan would run out so i could give them the flick. After finally getting throough to someone to talk to the gentleman i spoke to refused to tell me when my plan ran out unless i told him the reason why i wanted to know.

My plan is up in March and sure as the sun sets and rises i will not be renewing my plan with vodafone and i will tell everybody i can just how crap they actually are.

My wife and I are both on 3 mobiles and over the last 6 or so months after Vodafone bought out 3 the coverage has been significantly worse than when it was under 3. If you think 3's network coverage is bad, think again when it is under Vodafone. Often we get drop outs, connection errors, no network, roaming and anything and everything else in between. I used to work at a Vodafone call centre years ago and I have almost never got any negative feedback about the coverage. I left when management decided to trade us in for travellers and students who are on chicken feed per hour. I now work in a western industrial area and there used to be ok reception before and now it is usually on roaming or not at all, therefore I can't get onto the internet from my phone. I need my mobile for work and I can't afford to be screwed around by the incompetency of these dills. I have been on 3 for almost 10 years and my wife signed up to 3 4 years ago. Not anymore. my contract has already expired and I'm on pay as you go, and 3 has been pestering me for the last 6 months asking me to commit to another 2 years. Not a chance in hell. Plenty of people I know has already cancelled their 3 contracts and we won't be too far behind them. My advice would be vote with your wallets and tell these idiots to quit putting their money towards V8 stupidcars and Formula Fail and anything to give them a big head and junkets and start looking after their customers and commit to quality infrastructure.

What do you people want ?? Great deals, great bundles, but at what cost ?? If it sounds too good to be true, usually is. Try using Telstra, great coverage, bundles are pretty good and EXTREMELY RARELY lose coverage. The old adage " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ". That is what you are all getting with Vodafone. No sympathy for you.

5227 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Massive FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 09:00:01 PM
I have a 24 month plan with Vodafone for both my mobile phone and internet (a USB). My phone contract is due to run out now in 4 weeks (thank goodness) but I have had on going issues with signal, service and mostly customer service. I rang Customer service on numerous occasions about my issues with coverage and a billing enquiry and was on hold for ever.

Coverage for my internet at my house is shocking, despite being told by vodafone (and showed a coverage map) that internet coverage in my area was really good. (there is also a vodafone store less than 3 kms from my house, so why are they selling internet when it doesnt work more than 3km from their shop!), Again I rang Customer Service about the issue, was on hold nearly 40 mins and then spoke to someone who barely understood a word I said and then kept trying to transfer me through to another department before even hearing the reason why I had rang. When I asked how long I had left on my contracts I got the 3rd degree and eventually told. He then insisted on transferring me through to another area which he ASSURED me could help me with my problem right now. I got transferred to a pre-recorded msg "This department is currently closed" and then I got disconnected.
So.... I went in to see someone at the shop. The girl I spoke to said "well, you only have your internet contract until January 22nd with Vodafone, so if you just put up with it until then you can change after that" This is really annoying, customers shouldnt have to 'put up with it' until the end of the contract, it should be resolved, regardless of how much is left on the contract. I have 6 months left with my mobile phone and I am NOT HAPPY!!

We live in Nth Qld, and in the past 6 months have lived in 3 different suburbs, all of which are in the close metro area. The reception in all of these locations has been nothing short of terrible. We pay our bills on time for a service provided "apparently". My wife called them some months back to complain about the terrible service, only to be placed on hold by someone in Deli most probably. She had the tennacity to hold the line until she was answered, only to have the service that she was complaining about drop out mid conversation. My wife then called back and again after waiting the obligatory hour on hold, got cut off again mid complaint due to the terrible serice. Our problems do not end there. The phone I got with my contract died. I took it into my local vodafone outlet, only to be turned away and told to come back when they contact me with an outcome, but they didnt even take the phone off me. I may be a simple man but you cant fix a broken phone without the broken phone (so common sence would dictate). Well that was 5 months ago and since then I have grown tired of waiting, brought a cheap simple phone and had no drama, 'thanks' for the help vodafone. Rest assured if I was to forget to pay a bill on time, that they would expect me to rectify this problem ASAP, I think it only fair they do the same. It is clear from this well though out websight, that there is not a minority with the problem, it is much more widespread than anyone first though. Rest assured we will also be getting on contact with the TIO and the telicomunication ombudsman.

me and my wife was three for morethan 4 years. we bought a new house in brisbane which is 15 kms to CBD. I had constant dropouts or no reception for four months. after a long haul fight with the Vodafone three company they have given an option of breaking the contract and shifting to Vodafone. They said they would waive my contract break fees if I send my handset. I was happy with to do so in order to get a working reliable phone. its been 3 months they haven't sent me a return pack to send the phone, but have send a heafty bill to collection. I called the company 4 times with 4 and odd hours of wait I dint get no where. I have lodged a complaint with telecom obusdmen authority. Hope I get a fair reply or resolution....my question is..Are we responsible for the unreliability of the vodafone three telecom? if not why do we suffer for their mistakes..

5197 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Supercrap at 27 Dec 2010 08:54:45 PM
Vodafone mobile broadband connection is terrible. There had been a long strings of incident since I sign up with Vodafone back in March. All involving the same problem: I couldn't access the internet even when the coverage is saying "very good". First sign of trouble was not long after I signed up in Sydney. There wasn't a connection for 3 days. Took the USB back to the shop, thinking it was a hardware problem. To cut the story short, it turned out to be Vodafone's problem, something to do with "technical problem at Vodafone network". Service went back to "normal" (= slow, but working) afterwards.

I moved to Cairns in April and took the mobile broadband with me. Most of the time the connection is slow, which turn to super slow after 5pm, even when it's on 3G/HSUPA, connection dropped off frequently.

The next incident happened some months later. Couldn't access the internet for about 3 days again. Rang customer service, there was a recorded message saying that Vodafone was having some networks problems in some parts of Australia.

The latest incident was on Nov 31st - 3rd Dec. Rang their customer service which was obviously being outsourced to call centres in India. Spoke to VERY rude Indians who kept on saying there wasn't any problem, they kept on trying to shift the blame to my computer/other things even though after some "diagnosis" it was obvious it was their problem. They insisted that I was the only one in Australia who made a complaint to them! When I demanded to speak to a manager/supervisor, one of them cockily said "I'm THE most authority, you can't speak to anyone higher than me". The cheek of it, I'm sure he doesn't own the company, he doesn't even live in Australia!

I persisted and kept on ringing them. In total I spent 2hr 51mins 27 secs on the phone with them, mostly being put on hold, before they finally gave me an "escallation reference number" to investigate my complaints. Good thing I have a spare Vodafone SIM card, otherwise I would have spent a bomb ringing them from my Optus mobile phone as I don't have a landline. Every single time I rang time, they kept me waiting for at least 20-40mins. before I could speak to a REAL person.

Afterwards I lodged a complaint through Vodafone's website, about the appalling rudeness of their customer service (what "service"?!), telling them that I'm not going to pay for a service I didn't get - why should I pay for my broadband subscription if Vodafone isn't providing what they're obligated to fulfil in a contract (= a broadband service). After some email exchanges, they agreed to waive my subscription rate for the month. It's the first time I kicked up a big fuss about it and I think I should have kicked up a big fuss at other times, too. Afterall, a contract binds not only a customer, Vodafone is also bound to deliver the service I've signed up to!!!

I'm glad I'm not "the only one in Australia" who aren't happy with Vodafone. Bring the job back to Australia, those Indians didn't even know how to treat a customer respectfully.

It seems that after the 3 merger the coverage and service is crap. I have to get through to Mumbai when you have an issue sucks. I am now in the process of going to telstra as you get to speak to a real person in qld I have been with vodafone since 1996 so consider a fair loyalty. Now they can go to hell. I get 1 bar in the city and drop outs all over the place. I rang Mumbai and it was suggested to replace my sim. I did and hey guess what no difference. I am over the whole process. I have now recommended 20 friends to go to telstra who were considering vodafone. Man I am sick of the crap and everyone I speak to who is on vodafone are saying the same things. Time to move on. Oh I did get a $100 credit once for trying to leave!
28 Dec 2010 12:42:55 PM: You're lucky to get Telstra customer service in Australia. One call I made went from Phillipines, US, India - transferred from place to place and taking over an hour to get nowhere! I'm pretty cynical in that I don't believe any telcos know anything about good customer service at all.

I was assured that the coverage had improved since my previous experience with Vodafone some years earlier so I signed a contract. Later that day I was without coverage. The service in and around the suburb of Windale is a disgrace. I tried to get out of the contract on the grounds I was told lies by salesperson. The attempt was unsuccessful. 5183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad reception at 27 Dec 2010 08:51:33 PM
Have 3 mobile phone services in Beaumont Hills, (kellyville)2155 suppose to be one of fastest growing areas 5-10 years ago yet Vodafone reception is terrible, never caught up, constant drop outs on Brampton drive until you get on Samantha Riley Drive. Terrible reception at homes on Hadlow close, Comet and Smalls Creek drive. Would expect Vodafone to have a half decent service in Beaumont hills. If you live here avoid Vodafone, can't wait for my contract to expire

cheers

Yay for this website! I'm thinking they may be getting the point now!?!
We are so use to a world that is so disposable - including customers. You normally get a 14 year old who doesn't give two hoots about what you really want whether it is at McDonalds or at a company like Vodafone. Gone are the good ol'days where the customer was always right and you actually got service...which is what I don't get from Vodafone. I get service in 1 part of town but not over here, or there, but I do here but not there. Also within buildings, like a hospital, NO service...hhhmmmnn. Other friends on other providers do, but not me??? And here is the best one, a friend who doesn't have a home phone line as they have their mobile on that "you don't need one plan as you have your mobile", has NO RECEPTION IN HER HOME!!! Go figure!

5176 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is words can't even describe. at 27 Dec 2010 08:49:07 PM
I have spent two hours on hold to their customer service number, i had to hang up because the phone i was on ran out of battery. I had everything i was going to say and every record i had right in front of me, but no, it never happened because no one could be bothered to pick up the phone....and they're a phone company. BIGGEST JOKE. This was after i'd been in-store. Even the guy behind the counter warned me what i was in for.

They are charging me for a phone i have not used... and the bill is growing even without use. They claim it's a time delay, but why after six days of being switched off is it still adding on costs? Shouldn't they just do it at once and be done with it? Of course not, that is the LOGICAL thing to do.They are also showing me i have an unpaid bill. i have a receipt and over a week later apparently i still owe.

Vodafone struggles to provide decent coverage....anywhere!

The picture messages i send wake my contacts in the middle of the night over 24 hours after they were originally sent. Aren't I popular the next day? Thanks Vodafone. To receive messages, i have to actually send individual messages to each contact before i get just one that could have been sent hours ago.It takes ten minutes to open a single page on my iphone due to the little "Searching" in the corner that makes me want to throw my phone at the wall.

The 24 month contract is more expensive than one for a new iphone 4... and i'm receiving less for my money. Their three months early exit offer is clearly not enough, make it three months into the contract and they've got themselves a deal.

Their "spend and entitlements" page does not update, or does so very slowly ensuring their "valued" customers have exceeded their plan and then still tell them they can text their little heart out.
All in all, what can i say...
Will i be going back? Certainly not.

I have a Crazy John's mobile broadband which uses the Vodafone network. For months I've been complaining about drop outs, failures to connect, and more recently wasting hours per day waiting for ulta-slow connections which cannot be guaranteed to stay in for the duration of the message or query.
The Crazy John's store gave me a new sim card last week but to no avail as the Vodafone network remains the cause of the problems.

5168 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Coverage in a Metro Areas?! at 27 Dec 2010 08:46:46 PM
I joined Vodafone about 5 years ago in regional New Zealand where the coverage was good. I moved to Australia believing this would continue. I signed up for a 24 month, $29 post-paid plan as I was attracted initially by the free calling to 3 and Vodafone. Of course to enjoy such a service, it is necessary to have coverage! At my parent's house in Wollongong I kept a measly 1 bar or no bars downstairs despite the house being on high ground apparently near a Vodafone mast? In Shell Cove, near Shellharbour, I get no coverage at all. I literally have to walk up the street holding my phone in the air to get one bar. I receive constant drop-outs. I also receive no coverage between Waterfall and Sutherland which I find ludicrous - these suburbs and those between them are less than an hour away from Sydney! Vodafone however deny there are any issues with their coverage in any of the areas I have identified problems. They blatantly lie on their website and get away with it. Why should I pay for a service that does not work and be involved with a company who deny any issues exist?

Vodafone has the WORST reception. I can't use my bluetooth in the car because the reception keeps going in and out all the time. I get text messages up to a day after they are sent including voicemail messages! I was with 3 before vodafone and had absolutely no problems with them whatsoever.

5166 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Extreme Disappointment at 27 Dec 2010 08:46:23 PM
I have been with Vodafone for quite a few years, I originally transferred from Telstra because at the time it was cheaper (as I could chose free calls unlimited to the person I called the most, I was saving approx $400 per month!!).. But I instantly noticed the reception differances.
It was bearable until recently.. I was in Hobart Mall on Thurs 23rd and I could not make a call at all!! It was searching for reception and even when my phone was telling me I had reception I still could not make a call.
I went into the Vodafone Store in the Mall and asked if they had any network issues to which I was told no, turn my phone off and then back on.. I did this and the problem still persisted for another 3 days!!!

I had no reception for most of the 3 days over Christmas to contact any family to wish them a Merry Christmas or let them know if I was on my way or delayed.. God forbid if something had have happened I would not have been able to contact anyone, and with a 2 1/2yr old son being able to contact people is EXTREMELY important!!!

I will without a doubt be going back to Telstra after my contract ends in September 2011 unless I can find a way out or $700 to pay out the contract... It is bullshit that they can keep you in a contract when they do not uphold their end of the bargain by providing a decent level of reception!!

I live in Springfield lakes, which is about 30min drive from south bank, Brisbane

I recently started my 24month contract at a vodafone inside a shopping centre that is about 2mins from my house

I can pretty much only use my phone in about 3 rooms inside due to poor signal

I understand that the coverage isnt as good as telstra, optus etc

but why open a vodafone store and offer a service to a area that you cannot cover

5160 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:43:40 PM
I live in Brisbane and I have an iPhone 3GS on a 24 month contract. I was told by the sales person at the Vodafone shop how good the phone would be and that I would be more than satisfied with the service they provided. Yes i was until i walked out of the shop and tried to use it.

I have had the phone for approx 7 months now and all through that time i have experienced poorer than average service. Phone calls dropping out. Slow loading web pages or not loading at all, Delayed SMS.

I was told by the sales rep when i bought the phone that it was not locked to the Vodafone network. Wrong. When i tried to test a Telstra prepaid simm in the phone i found out the truth. Once i managed to unlock the phone by paying the ripoff fee i found out for sure how bad Vodafone service was. Web pages loaded at waht i would call standard broadband speeds on the NextG network.

I have had occasion to call Vodafone customer care and waited for 1 hour 20 mins before i hung up.

Show me how to join this class action. I am in for sure.

I was with vodafail for 6 yrs all good at first bur the past year nothing but crap my reception was always out never was able to het calls which frustrated people who tried to call. The last two months I had people call me the phone would drop out as I answer the call saying no reception then I have to turn my mobile on and off to get reception back. The last two bills I've had went up in price and don't add up. I tried calling which was useless so I went into the store. They closed our vodafail store and moved us to a small company down the road they r rude and useless they wouldn't help and the when I thought stupidly to upgrade to a new phone on a special 59 cap plan in there catalogue they told me it went to 69 even though the special lasted till 31 January they said vodafail decided to change their mines well then don't advertise it. What made me jumped shi was after the guy working there was talking to a customer on the phone happily after hanging up started bad mouth the customer on the phone in front of everyone saying there full name I was so disgusted that I went across the road and sign up with telstra. I am still arguing over the bill and I am not paying it till they have a reason and fix the. All I can say is bye bye vodafail you suck!

Dropping my calls out, not sending my messages, constanly loosing my reception, its just so unrealiable. worst if u wnat something done about it it takes u hours to be connected to a real person and when u finally do they either dont understand u are rude or hang up on u.... so many problems not just with the reception but even with horrible customer service....

I could not figure out why friends and family had repeatedly told me that they had called me, but my phone did not ring or no voicemail. I called Vodafone (and lost hours and hours off my life that i will never get back)and was told that it was my phone settings and that between the hours of 11pm and 6am, Vodafone were upgrading the network in my area. This went on for months. More phone calls and more b/s from Vodafone. Eventually, i was told that i had to turn off the 3G on my phone so it can work properly. Now i am stuck with slow downloads on my 'smart phone'for email and internet and still i pay a premium contract price. Reception in my area is still cactus between 11pm and 6am. Bring on the fight !

5145 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is absolute shit crap service at 27 Dec 2010 08:39:33 PM
I am a self employed builder and have been with VodaFAIL for quite a number of years. I have lost potential clients through constant call drop outs, no reception, receiving text messages 3 to 4 hours later some have been of urgent concern, I can't make calls from inside my home, let alone outside the bloody phones freeze up, I go to make calls and says conection error grrr what a bloody CRAP...SHIT....SERVICE... and I have 2 VodaFAIL mobiles and I just want to smash the bloody things..I rang VodaFAIL to make a complaint and they didn't listen just upped my contract caps and still paying for a service I am not getting they should be paying me...not me paying them they are getting money for nothing...I have had to go out and purchase 2 Telstra NextG Mobiles prepaid to use to cover myself as back up this is absolute CRAP and is totally unacceptable... If I could get out of my contracts I would.
