Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

18960 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is High Fail at 28 Jul 2011 06:04:27 PM
I have been on a $20 plan for years and I have always paid my account on time and only rarely go over my call limits. I got a new I phone this month, put in my sim card and despite having no coverage in the house I have just moved into, I received a statement from Vodafone for my monthly account of $612.30!!!!! This is over two and a half YEARS worth of call totals in one month. It is all in data downloads which are not on my plan, despite the fact that I haven't actually accessed the internet from my new phone. I have tried calling Vodafone and have spoken with India but after wasting an hour of my life I am no clearer on just why I have such a huge bill. The staff don't call back when they say they will and I have sat on hold for 30 mins without their customer service bothering to pick up my call. Surprisingly, I don't have endless hours to devote to waiting on the phone for Vodafone. I know I am not an important customer to them but I can in no way afford to pay $612.30 for data charges I have not used. Hmmmm, I do feel a little bit better now....thank you Vodafail!
29 Jul 2011 11:40:24 AM: mate my bill is for $2000 for Data that I have not used. just go straight to the TIO.

18959 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is OMFG BBQ Fail at 28 Jul 2011 03:46:24 PM
When I purchased the Iphone4 in April/May It was faulty right off the bat. My wife and I purchased 2 IPhone4's the same day and mine was obviously having trouble with reception as it was 3 bars lower at all times vs the wifes phone. i took it back the next day and the told me that they won't replace it and that they would have to send it away for 2 weeks for testing. Needless to say I was quite angry at that but they didn't really seem to care either way and just blamed Apple. When i mentioned I wanted a refund they told me I couldn't because I had signed a 2 year contract and If i wasnted out I would have to pay $39x 24 months to break the contract. Phone was away for over 2 weeks and I tried to ring the Carindae store where I purchased the IPhone4 and was met with the phone just ringing out over and over again. I had actually noticed that when I was in the store. The phone wuld be ringing off the hook and the staff would just ignore it. So i went into the store and they had the replacement phone there and it had apparently been sitting there for 5 days. When I asked "wtf why didn't you call me" I was told that they have made attempts to contact me. I told then they didn;t and they basically just kind of shrugged and asked if I wanted my replacement phone or not.

So now i'm stuck in a 2 year contract with a company of this calibre.... Awesome. :(
28 Jul 2011 10:55:36 PM: Have you tried the TIO? They are pretty helpful and will help force vodafone to sort out your problem or let you out of your contract early without charge. Their details are on the 'how to complain' page.

18958 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 3G Fail at 28 Jul 2011 03:37:24 PM
I work in Brisbane city and I get the feeling that the 3G network here is over subscribed or just simply crap. I sit in my office and look at my iPhone 4 3g. It has a full 5 bars of reception and the 3g data connection and yet the 3g network simply doesnt work most of the time. I get the odd burst of connectivity and then nothing.

I have now resorted to turning of 3g and going back to the old data connection (EVDO???) which while rather slow works fine all the time. I experience the same problem to and from work on the Beenliegh line. I can't really tell you what its like where I live in Parkinson as I am hooked up to the WiFi at home. I have only been working in the City for about 3 months and It seemed to work fine up until about 7-7 weeks ago and since then it has been totally unusable. Of course I get the usual run around when I call Vodafone.

Me: Explain the situation

Them: "Have you tried turning it off and on again??"

Me: Yes.. multiple times.

Them: Maybe you need to drop into the store so they can look at it.

Me: WTF?? I mean honestly?? Is that the best trouble shooting they can come up with?

/facepalm
29 Aug 2011 08:13:01 PM: pretty cool. Remember you PAID their LAST BILL - you ENDORSED their CRAP SERViCE.. ummm? Keep endorsing them and they will keep providing you with more of the same !
COMPLAIN TO THE T.I.O. - Tell VodaFark you're angry, pissed off, not paying your bill (don't make physical threats tho), and you're not taking this crap anymore, tell them you'll tell everybody you meet and come into contact with that Vodafone is NOT a phone company you should trust......

18954 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No network coverage, calls dropping out at 28 Jul 2011 10:50:13 AM
I have 2 mobiles on a cap plan with Vodafone, the consistancy of coverage is terrible and has definately lost me business and affected my relationships with customers and business colleagues. Despite the coverage shown on the Vodafone website as adequate, it has been showing the message " no network availble" more and more. Yesterday, I was trying to talk to a customer and the line dropped out 5 times, I been constantly apologising for this useless service. I am fed up of wasting time contacting Vodafone, the response is obviously from an overseas call centre and I can be waiting from 10 mins to 40mins with several re-dials as the service drops out. When you talk to the person they are polite and seemingly helpful, some have excellent English some do not, they cannot do much to solve my issues except offer a partial credit on the bill and fill in a complaint form an tell you to hope the service improves. What I need is a working relaible service.
I stupidly moved from 3 to Vodaphone for similar issues only to realise later that they are one and the same incompetant mob, who charge money to people for services they cannot deliver.

18953 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Really bad! at 28 Jul 2011 09:48:57 AM
Last time I tried to cancel my plan in 2010 due to poor coverage I was offered a 'cheaper' plan and promises that the network would get better. It is now 9 months into my new 24th month plan, and the coverage is still very poor. Every day my line cuts out when I receive a call.

Now I've been told that I have to pay the 'minimum spend' on my plan per month x the number of months I have left, which basically means if I exit now I still have to pay the exact same amount of money as I would pay if I didn't cancel my plan. Making it a loss/loss situation.

18952 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Not that much at 28 Jul 2011 01:53:13 AM
Not that much really. You guys should try virginbroadband for 24 months. they made vodafone look like innocent little cheery cheeked kids.
Worst thing i have had with vodafone is waiting on a call. but again with vrigin they don't compare. i have phone and broadband with vodafone. and i have had mobile with them for more than 10 years now. internet only in the last 12 months. when i first got onto the phone i couldnt make a call inside the house, and outside i had to pick my standing point to make sure the call didn't drop out. today it's light years away from those sad days.. with my phone i am connected to the 850 network. and if this is fast i must say it's the same speed as always, i haven't noticed any improvement at all. also when it comes to my broadband, they sent me out a new 850 network modem so i could connect into the new faster wizz bang network. again i can't say it's any better. honestly it's worked fine in the past, and speed wise it's been pretty good. but when you're told this new network is the bees kness you really expect something to pop up and say "I'm amazingly better". If im one of a few that are on this new 850 network, and im very close to the tower it runs off. then i would expect something of an improvement.

My HTC Legend is unable to pick up more than a bar of reception at my house. There are none at my work!!! I very rarely get a SMS and can never answer a call when I'm at work. I've called Vodafone and they actually admitted that 3 reception is better!!!! When I send a text message that is 4 sentences long it only sends half of the message occasionally and twice!!!!! Facebook never works and my Internet doesn't either - apart from if I'm looking at the Vodafone homepage which will charge me!!!! Going to a Vodafone shop only results in me being being told to ring the Vodafone customer service again!!! Do you think it's my phone or the reception???? I'm a little frustrated and need my phone due to health problems. I have had this phone since December last
year and it's never worked properly. Could you please give me some advice??? The phone has already been reset too.
27 Jul 2011 01:41:36 PM: That's interesting as I have been a happy 3 customer for many years, the last 4 months has changed for the worst with reception at my house in suburban Melbourne pitiful. Have been told that the 3 service is winding down and migrating to Vodafone. Customer service at 3 is encouraging me to move across, no way after reading all of these problems.
27 Jul 2011 09:53:55 PM: Anyone thinking HTC Legend please NOOOOO!!!! They couldn't even find one of these to send me !!!!

18935 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Big Fail at 26 Jul 2011 12:06:53 PM
Have a CJ Pre Paid wireless broadband account. Was drawn to this by the 365 day expiry. Live in regional rural WA and required the plan for when visiting Perth and/or Geraldton. Interesting that in Geraldton the reception is great. Constant 3G coverage and no drop outs. As for Perth, EPIC FAIL, only 2g/gprs available, slow as and getting slower. I am considering going over to Telstra who also have a 365 day expiry but sadly only offer half the data. Where we camp in Perth is only 150mtrs from a 3 tower and 2km from the Vodaphone tower on Hepburn Ave.

I was on the phone to Vodaphone trying to sort out problems with calls consistently dropping out and poor call quality, and the call quality from my handset to them was terrible to the point I could barely hear their service person. I live in the middle of Sydney so I was supposedly in a good/prime coverage area.
28 Jul 2011 09:55:27 AM: I have the same problem!!! Its so frickin frustrating that I now call using a landline.. and when they ask me "are you calling from your mobile?" I laugh!

Not only is the network still useless - it seems to be getting much worse. Every day now, in North Ryde, I lose the network - the phone has to be turned off and on at least once a day to get the network back. Also, the MyVodafone website is still entirely useless and fails at a rate unbelievability.

Reception is very poor and they keep saying the problem is my phone. Funny it works perfeclty with a Telstra Sim card.

They also have different networks, for example, if you are in Australia as a tourist and use the Vodafone Roaming Network it's fantastic and that is why I choose them,... very tricky they are,... ripofffone!

18926 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Worst of Worst at 25 Jul 2011 08:35:22 PM
Got extra charge of $315 on internet usage over my phone that I never used. Current Vodafone network just cant even allow me to browse web site with my phone even I am located in Brisbane CBD. Complained to Vodafone's billing team, got me nowhere except offering me $60 in credit.

Talked to their technical support about unexplained data usage of internet but they told me it is all valid. Send emails to complain without any success. Finally I got to talk to a manager on duty, he claimed he understood my claim about how poor their network is performing but still think that I have used the download quota. (what the f***)

They constantly claims that their record is correct (if its correct why the heck am I complaining!!) I guess TIO is my next step.. wish me luck~

I have a contract with 3 which is due to expire in a few months. Recently a 3 rep called me , obviously to try get me to renew my contract !
I told him that I wasn't very happy with the coverage that I get...frequent drop-outs when talking from home in Sydney and no signal when I visit NSW regional country areas that I often visit. I had been a Vodafone customer for many years until about 2005 when I decided to make the change to 3 and got a new LG handset on a $29 monthly plan. Soon noticed that 3's coverage was worse than VF ! (in my experience)
Coming back to the salesperson's call ... I said I remember getting better coverage with VF so why now if the two companies are merged , don't I get better coverage ? Well its all down to the location of the cell transmitters etc. OK , so now the merger between 3 and VF has created one huge Telcom with 2 separate services ...wonderful !
The sales rep continued his patter in the most perfect Indo-English manner.
"Sir you are free to try out Vodafone again at NO COST " after a brief pause I was connected to Vodafone rep.
Just to cut this short .. It was unknown to me to be signed up for a free service meant I was registered on a business account!
A month later got an invoice for $89.00 .No service had been used ! I was furious , I never wanted this ! After many calls to VF they finally said they were cancelling the account.
It has taken me 'God knows' how many calls to VF to get this situation concluded.Something must be done to stop this predation by these anonymous giant corporations from creating such turmoil to ordinary people's lives.
In my case, I responded to what appeared to be a simple phonecall which has turned out to be the most frustrating invasion into my daily life.

How can this kind of treatment be endured by trusting members of the community?
This organization VF and Hutcheson are greedy thieves who prey on unsuspecting people. They are so mean that they have to "farm out" their labour to poor people in Indian call centres who have to struggle with their multi billion dollar disaster failures while their execs sip their cocktails far away.
Shame on you Vodafone, Shame on you Hutcheson, for a Communication Company you need to get some teaching about what communication really means.

I am constantly experiencing call drop outs and delayed voice mails issues. Called 1555, they said that the network is fine in my locality, which is not, as there are still signal dropouts. Missing business calls is not something worthwhile. And they are not agreeing for a waive off cancellation fee on termination of contract as well. Now that Vodafone wants to investigate the issue. And if there is a problem I would need to return my phone to them on cancellation of contract without any fee. This sucks.... No one can miss their interview and business calls.
25 Jul 2011 02:33:46 PM: that's right.. job-seekers on Vodafone are doomed! no prospective employer calls more than twice, and if they leave a message on your voicemail and you don't reply in a few days they assume you found something else. Vodafail customers who have important calls to make/receive have no chance....

OK - if i even get a glimps of a tall building on my way to work in the city - reception dies. City is very patchy. WEstern Suburbs around Merrylands is woeful as well. Forget the train....no reception till i get to Granville.
More importantly, some of my calls are going straight to voicemail (happened just now) and i sometimes get voicemail late - sometimes as late as a few days (happened on Friday).
This is actually worse than the Hillsbus network. I mean at least when the bus eventually arrives, it takes you where you want to go. If it was vodafone it would be stopping every few kms.

18913 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is woeful at 25 Jul 2011 11:08:23 AM
Seriously tearing my hair out!

Live on the North Shore, work in the Inner West, travel through the CBD every day. Patchy coverage everywhere, missed calls because callers can't get through to me, text message alerts that come through hours after a voicemail has been left, signal strength constantly up and down, data service abysmal, paying 69 dollars a month for something I can't use. My partner and most of my contacts on Vodafone but it's embarrassing how many times I have dropped calls, have to make repeated attempts to call.

Six weeks ago, spoke to customer service, described (very diplomatically and politely I might add) all my issues, found them to be reasonably helpful... albeit it was two hours of my life on the phone to a call centre that i'll never get back. Got callbacks and had my phone reset, established that all the stated areas of Sydney had "network issues"... as a consolation, I was offered for $69 to be credited to my account for 3 months.

Reasonable I thought, although ordinarily I'd have no qualms about paying for something that does what its supposed to. Six weeks later, and two bills have been sent out to me, neither with any suggestion that this credit offer has been applied.

So I ring back again... guess what, no record that the conversation ever took place! Brilliant. So, another hour on the phone through various departments and "engineers" all going through the same charade of calling back, resetting, testing, postcode checks, blah blah blah...

Seriously, what's the best thing to do here? Apparently, this time they've requested the credit to my next bill, and on my explicit request, they made a note on my account that the conversation we'd had had taken place and the outcome stated. However, a discounted bill for the next month or two doesn't actually help me, it just eases the pain a little bit. I still have nearly 12 months left on my contract and the cost to buy my way out of it is over $600...

Help!
25 Jul 2011 02:00:14 PM: It sounds like you've been through Vodafone and they haven't been able to sort much out, the best thing to do is go to the TIO (details on the how to complain page). The TIO will let you dispute the bill and also file a complaint, they will then give vodafone 10 days to sort it out or face a fine. As soon as you go to the TIO, Vodafone gets a lot more helpful.

hi, i went from pre pay to a $29 plan with a new nexus s with 200mg of data, 1st 2 months i dont go close to useing the data as i have wi fi at home, then last wekend i am checking my online bill and i see that i have "used" over $1200 worth of data over the weekend ,mostly during when i am alseep,no way have i downloaded anything and the few apps i have are the same i have had for the 3 months, vodafail say they cant query it till the bill is processed, then i get a txt saying to pay $600 or my service will get cancelled,i say no to that and tell them i cant do anything till you bill me as what they have said to me before hand, now they decide to investigate !!! i live in melton and even from vodafails website it say's that there is very poor data coverage here,so i dont even think i could download the amount they said i did, also according to there billing the times i am getting billed for data actually overlaped each other so it has to be a vodafone problem, yet i say again..
25 Jul 2011 09:03:42 AM: I have excatly the same experience as you. Vodafone said they will not investigate until bill is processed - so I am still waiting. 18905 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible at 24 Jul 2011 05:59:12 PM
I live only 15 minutes from the Brisbane CBD. My phone has consistantly 4 to 5 bars of reception. Yet everytime I go to check emails it takes a good hour to successfully download. It's always "could not connect to server", "server was reset", "check your log in".

On the bus it's embarassing. I can barely read 2 pages downloaded in 30 minutes of peak hour commute. I press a page and stare at a failure to download. I would love to use my download quota of 1 gig per month. It's just not possible.

Recently I went into a store to complain, and see about a solution. They said a new SIM card would do it. Ha! Classic get the problem out of the store solution. Alas I could not talk loud enough in hope potential customers would walk away before getting contracted to pain.

Lucky for me I'm soon off contract.

We all know about the horrendous network coverage provided by vodafail. I've called them more than 3 times this year to complain and everytime I spend 20mins+ where they assure my their FAIL would be fixed soon. So I called them last week to end my contract, they wanted me to participate in an investigation to test my coverage which according to the rep "may likely not fix my problem" but is required before a contract is terminated. I refused and referred matter to TIO.

These guys (Vodafone) have got some serious technical issues that don't appear close to being resolved. My problem is similar to the uni student who also posted today. My USB dongle worked fine initially, but steadily got worse and worse, jumping all over the place - 3G, EDGE, HSUPA, HSD. They replaced it, to little avail. Now, it takes forever to open a web page, if it gets there at all. If I connect to a WiFi or different network, WOW,it's like using a different computer - a stable, FAST connection that lets me do whatever I like for as long as I like. If Vodafone spent as much money on their current loyal customers as they do on chasing new ones, opening new stores and sponsoring sporting events, we wouldn't be having these problems. I'm ready to go!
24 Jul 2011 01:58:46 PM: Hey I'm the Uni student here, I have the same problem ever since it switches from 3G to hsupa at will... It's so frustrating. I'm leaving after this month but don't know where to go... Anything other than this crap should suffice. I'm over it and I'm at risk of failing my uni subject because I wait and hope that one day the thing will work... One day it does, one day it doesn't.... It's as bad as Melbourne weather, it's actually worse!
24 Jul 2011 02:56:18 PM: If you are not on a contract then it would be worth trying one of the other carriers on prepaid for a couple weeks. If you are on a contract then you might be able to get out without charge as they aren't providing the service you signed up for.

Have had an iPhone 4 from Vodafone for the past 9 months. Phone continually loses signal, calls drop out, can't receive calls (goes straight to voicemail 80% of the time), data is extremely slow if it works at all. Contacted them several times, first few times they confirmed there was a weak signal (although I am in the heart of Adelaide) and it should improve soon. Now they are telling me that there is no problem, their investigation team are reporting there are no faults in my area and I should have perfect reception.... but I don't! The reception just keeps getting worse and worse. It can't be the phone, as I used it in Sydney and Melbourne recently and had perfect 5 bar reception the whole time I was away. what the hell do I do now???? I can't afford $60 per month for a phone I can't use!

18892 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is huuuge fail at 23 Jul 2011 07:22:14 PM
I've had terrible reception and data coverage since I signed up with Vodafone back in December 2010. I finally had enough so I called to complain and they said I live in an area with bad coverage but that they would be upgrading it in the next quarter. Gee thanks! I had to of course call them on my husband's phone because mine dropped out while I was trying to ring them.

They offered $20 off this month's bill (I usually pay $49 a month) and 25% off the next 3 months. Although I can appreciate the gesture I've just had enough and want something that works.
So I lodged a complaint through their website asking if I can cancel my contract without paying early exit fees. Their automatic reply system must have picked up these words in my complaint because I immediately received a generic automated reply with info on how to cancel my contract - by paying early exit fees!
The status of my complaint was listed as SOLVED.

I don't think so!

I called again and they had absolutely NO record of this written complaint. So I had to explain myself for the 3rd time. I was offered to be transferred to the 3 network because "it seems that it gives better coverage in my area". It seems? I again asked for my contract to be terminated but they wouldn't budge. I told them I would go to the TIO and they said "that's fine, you can do that but we can't cancel your contract".

So I have lodged a complaint with the TIO and keeping all fingers crossed that I can get out of this mess.

I have huge problems with making calls which is what annoys me the most. For about 2 days I couldn't make any calls whatsoever. The phone wouldn't even dial the number. HTC Legend is a nice phone but it's driving me insane not being able to use it properly. Don't even get me started on data and MMS....

29 Jul 2011 10:48:05 AM: I got a call yesterday (funny that my phone didn't even ring because of their cr@p reception, it just went straight to vocemail!).
It was from the vodafail resolutions team who advised me that they will be cancelling my contract and waiving the exit fees woo hoo! of course, they didn't leave a contact phone number so i can call them back. i tried calling the 1300365506 resolutions team number but of course you have to leave a message...i just want confirmation before i port over to optus.

nevertheless - success!

18890 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is absolutely useless at 23 Jul 2011 05:40:22 PM
in mid 2010 i contracted with Vodafone for USB wireless broadband. Their retailer CJ assured me we had great coverage in our area. What a complete fabrication of the truth. By January 2011 things worsened with reception / connectivity and downloads speeds that were all useless. I was a train wreck after countless attempts to their offshore techspurts, and by March 2011 i was asking, no demanding my money back. which was just purely ignored. We had 3 services, 2 USB wireless broadband sticks and one special combo deal telephone, which was also suffering from zero reception at home.
Vodafones response "after investigation" was that the mobile telephone was working, however this only happened odafone rang while we were out of our home area. What a joke. Now they have a debt collector onto us and i have handed it over to my solicitor to take action on to recover my money and damages

Was offered last 2 months of my 24 month contract free in order to gauge reception improvements etc in order for Vodafail to retain me as a customer. To confirm, I asked the customer officer again, "are you referring to call expenses above the cap?". He said, "yes." The contract has now ended and they expect me to pay the bills. I asked the Supervisor today to pull the recorded call to confirm what was said. The Super stated they don't record all calls. Can you believe that. A telecommunications company who don't record the calls. So basically my word against theirs. I attempted contact with a friends overseas mobile a number of times which was displayed as 1 sec in time @ $2.32 each. No F@#%$&^% way I'm gonna pay! I knew how many rings before the call would pick up and go to VM. Nobody at Vodafail is willing to help even though things were documented. I am simply not going to pay - take me to court, I don't care. They are all incompitent liars !!!!!!!!!!!!
26 Jul 2011 01:26:37 PM: Get in touch with the TIO.. Few people know that if your ph company cannot satisfy your complaint, once it has been referred by the TIO, it costs the company at least $1400 to dispute your case. Therefore any disputes that come in under this amount, they are inclined to just award you what you are asking for. But you MUST get a case number from the TIO to really convince them.. Good luck.. :o)

for the past 3 weeks now ive been having little to no 3G reception at my WORK place which is where i use my phone heavily for well......work!
called up voda to tell them that Clayton South area has been having issues, the guy told me it was has been an Australian wide outage and they have fixed the issue and that i should reset my phones settings......YET when i try to explain to him that at home (East Melb) i have PERFECT reception, net works, calls go straight through, text, mms & emails all work a charm. YET he insist that its a phone issue, to shut him up i did as he requested (note had reset my phone many times prior to calling up voda) and what do you know! same thing, no reception!

seriously.......you tell them its a problem with their network, they convince you its YOUR phone.
21 Jul 2011 11:57:53 PM: Yea they blame the phone it seems even though they know there are network issues. You're paying for a service that they are having difficulty providing, it warrants a complaint and some action. I travel around Australia quite extensively and when first trialled 'Vodafail' it worked but alas 6 months later when converted our all our business to their contract, it started to go horribly wrong. We started to get very poor reception in major towns and no reception in many of the smaller towns. They are complete dead spots for us now and have to resort in using our customers phone to get the office!!! The next thing is the call drop out rates are even more horrible as needing to recall 2-3 times during a conversation

Back in December 2010, I cancelled my contract with Vodafone because the failed in providing network coverage on repeated occasions, I would have to walk to or stand in parks or streets to get reception at times.
Several Phone conversations prior with Vodafone, I told them the service had to be cancelled without penalising me for ending the contract early.
NOw - 7 months AFTEr the account has been closed - I'm STILL getting monthly Bills.

"Vodafone,
yet again you disappoint me. You've sent be a bill for closing my account when I have had serious discussions with your resolution team regarding the lack of service and coverage that I had been receiving.
As stated in my conversations with VXXXX and subsequent email - 9/11/10 that I was perservering with my account 042X XXX XXX providing you didn't make continuous errors in billing and service, like you did with number 042X XXX XXX. But you did make serious errors in not having signal in my home and poor reception within the CBD - therefore not supplying me with the service you promised in contract.
This is why the service was been cancelled and I do not expect to pay any penalty for exiting this contract.

Migrated from 3 to Vodafone in an effort to resolve reception issues ( live on top of a hill, line of sight to 3 towers...but hey ).
Migration for one phone took 4 days and about 3 hours on the phone
Migration of second (wifes) took nearly a month and another 8 hours on the phone to customer service.
Received first bill - all the agreed conditions were incorrect and overbilled - another 3 hours and 12 different parties to get that resolved.

Data is atrocious everywhere, and coverage ( original issue ) is marginally better but still not great.

And why is it that the helpdesk has to put you on hold for 3 minutes everytime they need to look up a detail? You spend more time on hold that resolving the issue.

18847 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail! at 20 Jul 2011 09:02:23 PM
I currently pay $69 a month on my plan with Vodafone.

Internet Connection: I only have internet connection about 10% of the time and even then it takes a lot of time and "refreshing" to get it working. Vodafone once suggested I "Reset Network Settings". Sometimes I'm lucky and it gives it a bit of a wake up call for about 5 minutes - then I lose my internet again. They also suggested turning off the "3g". Great help that was. My phone is constantly "Searching...".

Phone calls: Calls constantly drop out or whoever is trying to call me gets put straight through to voicemail. Other times I try to call out & it says "Call Failed". Dah.

Messaging: I often find a little "!" when trying to send messages. Or my messages don't go through for hours.

Voicemail: I don't remember the last time Vodafone notified me that I had a new voicemail message.

Considering the amount of money I spend to enjoy the benefits of having an iPhone, you'd think I'd be pretty satisfied. Too bad I chose Vodafone as my provider.

Epic Fail!

I've experienced continuously poor reception and exceptionally slow downloads to the extent that I don't even bother accessing my emails or using the internet on my iPhone unless absolutely necessary.

Having approached four Vodafone stores in Sydney to address a multitude of problems which also relate to billing, I've been dismissed by their service representatives, who've claimed that the reception issues were previously addressed. After three incredibly frustrating and failed attempts to resolve the matter via Vodafone's non-existent "customer service" call centres offshore, I want my contract cancelled immediately.

I'd like to know why Vodafone is not being held accountable for not delivering to their service and product offering, when clearly so many customers have been adversely affected.

Swapped from a Vodafone prepaid mobile to an Apple iPhone on a plan. This was mainly for Internet access and a mobile email. Changed over about month ago. I cannot believe how slow the Internet is and on about three quarters of attempts to use I suddenly get a message saying that the server failed to respond. How quick is this when Vodafone a constantly advertising how good the new upgraded network is. I have noticed on my on line billing that for one attempt to use the internet I am being charged in excess of $10. Very poor as I could not connect and yet I am still charged for trying. I will definitely be raising this and other issues when the bill is due. Must say also that while a happy Vodafone customer for several years, this past month has changed my opinion very much. Also less than impressed with staff at both the Vodafone shop and help lines. Being a novice with mobile internet and an iphone which I did explain to the sales person, no help or assistance was provided in usage or applications etc. I was told to look it up on line. I do not have a personal computer at home ( one of the reasons I wanted an iPhone) and advised the salesperson of this and for some reason was given a mobile internet connector for only $1 more on the plan I was going on. I returned to the store the next day and was brushed off by another salesman saying it was a freebie. I know that over the 24 month plan that I will pay $24 for absolutely nothing. No wonder Vodafone is so cashed up. Feel very let down, promised things that are just not happening and will pursue either getting out of the contract if things are not improved to what I am actually paying for. I also left nearly 3 weeks ago a message for the store to contact me and am still waiting. Phoned the helpline and was told that my "new phone" probably had dust on the sim card (no internet access)and to remove it and dust it and replace. Very sound technical support from Vodafone.

I live in Carindale QLD, have 4-5 bars of signal, and have been having issues for the last 6 weeks at my house, where I will browse internet on either my BlackBerry or my iPhone or using my latptop using a VMConnect, and after about 2 minutes the data just stops... you have to manually disconnect, turn the device off, then back on again, then it will work for about another 2 mins (sometimes I get lucky and get 10mins) then stop again. Late at night it seems to be a lot better, but during peak periods of the day it is shocking.

After all these issues you really would think that they would have sorted this out by now...

I went to Sydney on work the other weeks and everything worked great. as soon as I come back to Brisbane, back to the same ol' crap service.

As a bit of a GSM junkie who works in the industry, for god sake Vodafone you have Radio Access Network attachment issues - likely being caused by the HLR being out of synch with the GGSN - do something about it !!!

18788 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total fail at 20 Jul 2011 12:06:41 PM
My company has a contract through Macquarie Telecom, which uses the Vodafone network. I get no signal at me new office (Belrose) and one bar at home (Warriewood). So a total fail from me - I can't even reliably make voice calls at the two places I spend most of my time, let alone get decent data speeds.

The company is trying to get out of its contract in order to change providers. I hope they succeed.
20 Jul 2011 12:39:34 PM: hey mate, dont worry i hate Vodafone too but did find coverage improved dramtically when i upgraded to a 3G phone

18787 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone tops the cake for disgusting reception and then denying they have a problem at 20 Jul 2011 12:00:20 PM
With 3 people in the house on Vodafone and 2 that aren't and Vodafone tells us we don't have a problem when we can't use our phones in the house yet the other two suppliers that are used can! To top it off the dropped calls and bad reception happens over Sydney. The people you deal with in India have know idea and do you think Vodafone came to the house to investigate NO, they said we DON'T have a problem. Like hell you don't come to my place and find out! People who visit complain they don't get reception when they are on vodafone in our area. Explain that. It's not the mobiles either as we are using 3 different brands. God help Vodafone.

18785 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful reception issues at 20 Jul 2011 11:55:32 AM
Ghastly reception at Kurrajong , 70 kms from Sydney's CBD.Unforunately, I am with AAPT who use the Vodafail network and nobody wants to anything about it.I have to satnd in certain areas in my own house and land ( I live on acreage) to get a signal. There are persistent pockets of "no signal" areas all through the Hawkesbury region of NSW.............and we get charged a whack for no service. If this company ( Vodaphone) put petrol in their cars that failed to ignite, I am sure they would get it sorted but the Telcos are ripping us off more than the banks are right now.

Constantly getting "no network" when trying to make a call from Brighton! The worst is that these calls do not show up on my account, therefore no proof of problem.

The calls keep droppping out.
I know its not just me as my neigbour is experiencing exactly the same problem
The network is unreliable.
I have decided to switch to Telstra NextG and advised friends and family to do the same. Vodafone is just a marketing sham of a company and deserves to go to the wall. Goodbye and good riddance!!!

18770 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 19 Jul 2011 04:05:44 PM
Only a customer for 2 months and I wish now I walked by the store that day! Coverage is bad at home and in work signal comes and goes. I need my mobile at work for the school to reach me as I have a daughter with medical problems. Billing seems to be my biggest problem at the moment. First bill arrived 9th June am on a $70 plan. I paid the bill on the same day, checked my Vodafone account for several days and no sign of the payment. Contacted the customer service and they told me to wait. I waited but nothing so called them again and told me not to worry it will show. Then on the 4th July I receive a text that I am going to be cut off on the 7th if I did not pay my bill!! Called again by the way what is up with the fake names if they are called Andrew , Nicole etc (heavy Indian accent)then I am called Mother Theresa . He Andrew told me to send the credit card statement so went to the bank as Vodacrap did not believe me! Phoned again and tried to tell them the transaction number it took nearly 30 min for Nicole to write it down and she got it wrong! So I went to the shop they were helpful put on my account that they could not disconnect me and took a copy and told me they will sort it out. New bill arrives for July and I tried to pay 3 times my credit card is declined (nope it wasn't) tried again the next day and bingo delighted with myself I paid a bill. I asked customer not so good service did they find my missing payment?? Gave them 2 working days and guess what I owe them for 2 months. Thanks Vodafone for making my holidays a pleasant one and I guess I will need to visit the shop again!

18768 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Completely at 19 Jul 2011 10:08:47 AM
I cannot get coverage 80% of the time- which in effect makes my phone redundant. I have emailed their customer care but they have just pasted a standard coverage response, rather than dealing with the individual nature of my enquiry.
I regret signing up with vodafone.
19 Jul 2011 10:58:25 AM: If vodafone isn't going to sort it out you can always complain to the TIO. They will get Vodafone to call you within 10 days with a better response.

18762 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billed for cancelled service at 18 Jul 2011 07:07:41 PM
Stupidly, stupidly took out a BYO modem month to month service with VF. Cancelled after less than 10 days. Contract dated 6 June 2011. Cancelled on 14th June 2011 as I was unable to use the service. Only used ~250mb in this time as it would connect, load one page and then stop working. I don't consider this a broadband service. Only phone calls shown on the account were to their 1555 helpline number, 8 calls in all on 6 and 7 June 2011.

I cancelled the contract in the Carindale store and dealt with a young Asian male who kept claiming their was no problem with their network. Yet the store had people claiming they had problems with their phone service.

He told me that I only had to pay $2.29. When I received an account they had billed me for the next month even though I had cancelled the service. I emailed them a reply to their emailed account. Today I got a SMS claiming I owed them $39.95.

18760 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Extreme FAIL at 18 Jul 2011 05:46:39 PM
Hi there! I signed up with 3 mobile six weeks ago and experienced nothing but issues from day one. I live in Two Rocks, WA, which is 60km from Perth's CBD so I asked the consultant to please check that I would have coverage in my area. I was assured that there would be no problems! HA! I made countless complaints to 3 who (After 3 weeks!!) came back to me with the solution of switching me to Vodafone. I was told that Vodafone has better coverage and the issues would not continue. I have now been with Vodafone for a week and the exact issues are ongoing; phone calls dropping out, unable to make calls "Call Failed" and constantly get the messages "Searching", "No Service", and "Cannot activate cellular data network". On the rare occasions that the internet does work it takes 3-5 minutes to load a page. To top things off, a new error has begun occurring since moving from 3 to Vodafone. When I text my partner, he often gets a text I sent days or even weeks earlier!! I have made countless complaints to 3/ Vodafone but all they do is check my home address, tell me the network coverage is fine and ask me if i have been through all the troubleshooting!! I told them that I will not be resetting my network settings one more time because although this resolves the issue, it will again return to "No Service" within the next couple of hours. Despite my countless complaints Vodafone still say that I will be forced to pay cancellation fees if I choose to exit my contract?!! How can they hold me to the contract when they are breaching the contract by not providing the service I was promised?? I have just lodged a complaint with TIO and currently waiting for Vodafone to respond.
