Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Lake Cargelligo has no Vodafone reception. This needs urgent attention as you cannot make a call in that area if you have a Vodaphone account.

Can't get recepetion in my home, my sister's home or my brother's. Constantly dropping out and don't recieve MMS or texts till days later. The GPS doesn't work as I can never get reception~ I worry that if I or someone was in an accident, my phone would prevent contact... Not to mention what is this stupid PXT crap? why can't we send normal MMS's to other providers?

2717 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is poor at 27 Dec 2010 02:08:48 PM
I had been with 3 for 4 years, who I was very happy with. I switched to Vodafail to upgrade my handset to a galaxy S, knowing that both companies were amalgamating--and assumed that service would be the same (foolish of me). I live in metropolitan Adelaide--10kms from the city and I have had dead spots, delayed messages, messages linked to other numbers and so on. Of more annoyance has been the data issues for the internet--I received better reception on a tram in Melbourne than I do in my own house! Not much joy owning a smartphone if you can't use any of the smart applications regularly.
27 Dec 2010 02:16:17 PM: I am the same - only about 15km from Adelaide city and my calls are always dropping out and at my parents home (20km from the city still in the metropolitan area)I can't get signal anywhere on their street!!! Just last week I sent a text message(because signal was low and couldn't get the call to go through) to someone at work letting them know I was running late . I had been at work for 5 hours before this person even recieved the text from me!!!

When you exit Sydney Airport there are numerous advertisements for Voda. Her's the challenge... try and ring someone on the Voda network at the airport. You can't connect!

"Welcome to Sydney Airport. If you need to contact your with Voda and need to contact your loved ones, use our many public pay phones available"

2711 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad at 27 Dec 2010 02:07:14 PM
Too many fails to connect specially under buildings and call drops all the time lately. Coverage is very poor in the last 3 to 4 months. My blackberry Curve 9300 just don't work from time to time at all and Vodafone support told me to take out SIM and battery and replace it back to make it work again, so I have to do that ever since (very painful and not good at all). Can someone do something please?

2710 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Frustrating!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:06:59 PM
In the past 2 months, my service keeps dropping out and takes at least 10 minutes to reconnect to the network.. Not to mention my phone keeps failing to work properly... Too bad if I had an emergency or an important phone call!! And of course, Vodafone are extremely quick to cut off my service if I haven't paid my bill on time, however, having so many problems with my phone and reception isn't really keeping their end of the deal at all!... Someone needs to pull their finger out and fix this ASAP!.. Thank you Adam for starting this page to make me feel better, but I will only feel better when Voda fix their issues!

thanks vodafone for having my head ripped off from my national sales manager after she had tried calling me (of course i had no reception and the calls went straight to message bank) she eventually got through to me late afternoon after leaving me 4 voice mail messages, which I swore I had not received-she found this very hard to believe. 3 days later her voice messages came through. Thanks vodafone. Thank you also for leaving me on hold 6 times now for periods of up to an hour and thats with me giving up-god knows how long until you would have answered. Contract ends in July...BYE BYE vodafone

I moved from Optus to Vodafone about 2 months ago and we were promised that we would have have complete coverage in our area. No to little access to internet, to make a phone call is unbearable. I have had to sign up with optus again on a $5 plan in case of an emergency as I have a new born and can not rely on vodafone and there minimum 40 minute wait for no customer service or help. Had enough of Vodafone.

2705 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Completely Unacceptable Network Reliability at 27 Dec 2010 02:05:25 PM
I transferred from 3 AUST 3 weeks ago as my Blackberry Bold finally died due to over use! I wanted the Blackberry Torch and had to get it on Vodafone... whom I thought had a good reputation. Vodafone did have a good reputation locally several years ago... and internationally.

Well I am now regretting changing to Vodafone, and never thought I'd miss 3 AUST. We all know what 3 AUST was like when they commenced in AUS - but now their customer service, pricing and network coverage cannot even be compared to Vodafone!

My new Blackberry has Vodafone firmware (naturally) and this leaves a lot to be desired! The handset's reception is terrible - fluctuates and I cannot even access Blackberry services half the time! Calls drop out, and I don't receive messages, emails, facebook notifications in a timely manner. I get nothing, then I receive everything at once!

Being a passionate Blackberry user - I am confident it is not the handset, and comparing my 3 AUST service to the level of service provided by Vodafone I know it is the network! Very disappointing Vodafone.

2701 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Epicly at 27 Dec 2010 02:04:04 PM
Coverage in the central Hobart area is just bollocks. I can walk between rooms in my South Hobart house and have signal strength got from full to zero. Furthermore, the service is very flakey overall, and not just at times of peak usage. For instance, many times I will attempt to make a call only to find that no connection can be made, despite having signal strength.

I can't understand why the service is so poor here - its not as if we are a sprawling metropolis full of high rise buildings.

Unfortunately, I am only halfway through my 24 month contract. If there is no improvement from V over the next year, I will churn myself over to the great Satan (ie Telstra) - at least they have half decent and stable coverage.

I dont like ranting like this, but I am so very disappointed with V, when other providers here and elsewhere can get it right so easily.
27 Dec 2010 02:10:10 PM: Hmmm... of course I meant Epicly FAIL ;-)
27 Dec 2010 03:26:21 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"
28 Dec 2010 08:57:10 AM: Hello - thank you for that. I did not think of trying this approach in order to end the contact early.
I'll give it a go - I have no choice, to be honest

Currently i am paying $59 cap for an Iphone4 which gives lot of call dropouts and could not receive the messages even though i am in the full network area. Spoke to the customer care 8 times just to find out that i need to repair my phone via three store. I am in regional area where i cant use the promised 1gb internet free usage, Otherwise I would be charged extra dollars on that. At the end of two years i would be paying them 1500$ just to receive 1/3 of the calls made to me.

2696 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst phone company we've ever been with at 27 Dec 2010 02:02:36 PM
We joined Vodaphone in March 09 after being assured that we would get good phone coverage as we are in a rural area. After two months of VERY bad reception we went back to Vodaphone to complain only to be told TOUGH is would cost us to get out of the contract. We have put up with it ever since waiting for our contract to expire in March 2011. I was in Goulburn recently with my husband and we got separated and I was uncontactable even though I was within 500 metres of my husband. I experience the same when I visit my son in Nowra, I have no reception AT ALL. Quite often I have to go and stand in the middle of the street to be able to make a call or to send a message and we have had enough! Last year when my daughter had her second baby my text messages took 12 hours to reach family members! We will be leaving Vodaphone as soon as possible to go with a reliable phone company!

Both in Abbotsford Sydney and at the south coast Gerringong there is no coverage. Vodafone does not answer its call for hours then states they will call back and dont. When you call they say the problem is resolved with resolving it. They send you to the store and the store sends you back to customer "Service". The ACCC doesnt want to know. Vodafone keeps misrepresenting their services. Their webpage is not working. They disabled PC to TEXT. Their billing is not working. Its Onetell again. DONT PAY YOUIR ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU GET THE SERVICE YOU PAID FOR.

2689 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is SO FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 02:00:09 PM
I live in a country area so we have to choose our mobile providers carefully. I went into a vodafone store looking to go on a plan but my biggest concern was getting coverage in Gippsland, Victoria. They 100% reassures me I would get coverage. When I got home and set up my phone, guess what, NO RECEPTION. I can drive 30 minutes to the largest town in our area, Traralgon to get reception but even then, calls drop out, I can't make calls and the re-send button gets hit about 30 times before the message sends. So I'm paying for a plan I can't use. I bet they're happy though, they tricked me into signing their contract.

2688 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Big fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:59:56 PM
Mobile broadband reception is terrible in Clayton, a fairly close Melbourne suburb. About half the time I can't connect at all, sometimes for 24 hours or more. Very convenient when you have important stuff to take care of.

Good thing I signed up for month-to-month mobile broadband even though the sales reps repeatedly tried to talk me into a fixed term contract. One sales rep in particular was very rude and upon my insisting on something, blurted "Are you serious?". Yes, I am. If you're not happy working in customer service, get a different job.

The sames sales reps kept losing my bank statements and other documents I provided, so I had to go back twice to get everything to them. Each time I went there, they again tried to force me into a fixed term contract. I suspect they pretend to lose your stuff just to get you back in and sell the contract to you.

Well I had always been 110% for vodafone because of other peoples reviews and oppinions but in the last year or so I have had problems with sending messages, calling (making calls and recieving), coverage, internet, scams and random messages from vodafone saying that they hope I stay with my prepaid connection. When sending messages itll sometimes send 4 of the same messages to the same person, or itll delay and my friends/family wont get the message for a few hours or days later. Calling, itll cut out or get no coverage or people will try call me and it wont connect not to mention people will tell me they tried to call me and Id have not one missed call. Like seriously, far out! Too bad I guess if it was an important call or someone in my family DIED! Ill be randomly fiddling with my phone and the coverage will cut out completely, no bars, no nothing. When trying to go on the internet on my phone it wont work from time to time with no explanation not to mention when I tried to buy a song off the internet it wouldnt work or if it did work it would literally take all of my credit. I get random message that they would think are curteous but somehow come across a bit rude saying "We hope you stay with your prepaid connection" or some other crap. I rang the company to discuss these problems about multiple messages and etc and they went through this long speal that it was a problem with my phone even though I told them numerous times, ITS A NEW PHONE! Its frustrating and disgusting, especially considering when we ring up to complain and get someone in ANOTHER COUNTRY like seriously, dont they have enough money to EMPLOY AUSTRALIAN (ENGLISH SPEAKING) Customer Representives. If the inconveniences continue Ill be moving to Optus or another company who know what Customer satisfaction and Customer Service really is! Grrr - Its about time someone stood up.

2686 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is horrible at 27 Dec 2010 01:59:48 PM
we subscribed to vodafone prepaid broadband several months ago. i thought the problem which we faced on an ever-repeating fashion (can't connect, too slow speeds, constant drop outs) were based on the fact that we may live in a shadow or too far away from some critical point or that im too short or something but it was sort of relieving that everyone else cops this rubbish service too.

i quickly learnt that there was no point phoning 'we're here for you' vodafone because they dont answer their phone or so it seems and when youre on a mobile phone one gets pretty jack of waiting for noone to answer so one is again left to fend for oneself (on one occasion a few weekends ago i was on a mobile phone (not vodafone thankfully_ for nearly one hour but again gave up. the only thing i learnt about the extraordinarily poor service offered by try to get information out of vodafone (by phone, website and kiosks about town) is that when the little blue light is on my dongle (which is unfortunately quite often)that there is no service.

i not sure if the original message was sent.. ironically coverage dropped out just as i pressed 'Share your pain'

Out of the two year contract of hell now, thankfully.
Had Vodafone mobile braodband. Hah what a joke.
Whenever it rained - no reception. Whenever the wind was wrong -no reception.
Constant drop outs. Constant restarts.
Totally NO CUSTOMER SERVICE either online, by phone or from the brain dead pre-pubescent staff at Frankston.
Then they had the temerity to try to make me renew.
On top of which the so called plan was always overcharged. A disgrace which the ACCC should investigate.
Keep sponsoring the Aussie Cricket team - they are just as bad! How appropriate!

I think Vodafone should be held responsible as they are a large company and make all the promises to its customers of providing a good service, but to me it is very poor service, and I'm sure many others will agree!!! And since the CCommunications Minister seems to be Missing In Action in all this, maybe a website for government and beaurocrat failure. Chances are we'd all be posting so much, we'd never have the chance to pay attention to other peoples woes.

I have been with 3 for ages in Qld and never really ahd issues with them when they were backed by Telstra. I travel australia for work and never had problems with signal dropping as it pretty soon picked up telstra roaming and all was good. Now that they are backed by Vodafone , well lets say it's not surprising that the aus cricket team is failing also. I constantly have no signal, or can't acces network. I can't wait to go to telstra for the coverage. I live in the middle of the gold coast and while i expoect 3 to drop every now and then I have nothing due to vodafone's crap service.

2672 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is basketcase at 27 Dec 2010 01:57:10 PM
Both prepaid phone [nearly 10yrs] and broadband [1 year]- actual coverage doesn't meet advertised coverage, always poor connection if any at all on both with frequent drop outs, customer service near impossible to contact; when I do after always 30mins wait, record 1h 24mins,Too many times I have been fobbed off and lied to, made promises that are not kept, escalated level Support has not rang back at all yet alone within 48h or 72h promised, Have over 1000 txt in credit but cannot send text at all with error message when a/c balance low [Problem 4 mths],missed calls not registering, incoming calls not ringing, get to listen to other peoples calls when It rings me for no reason.Frequently bb speed less than 10kbs if at all, software malfunctions and crashes, as does the modem, and both frequently have to be deleted and reinstalled. A/c notifications by SMS ceased arriving, and V says I cancelled them[ more Bull]
By all reports from IT people I have spoken to, the Vodabone-of-contention is massively overcrowded, and continues to take on more and more customers without buying more airwave space.
over and over operators reply to these problems with 'that must be inconvenient' and I have tried to explain to them that having to put up with what is proven to be bare-faced lies is not inconvenient, its dishonest, rude, insulting and abusive.

Has anyone noticed that the big doozy fibs occur always after your pleasant and genuinely trying operator consults with a supervisor? If the supervisor requires their staff to lie, are not their lies corporately generated?
Might that not alone indicate that Vodafraud is not a fit and proper organisation to hold a frequency band license for telecoms in this country, It should be cancelled and the bandwidth given over to an organisation that manages its service provision, customer support, even its marketing, with a level of integrity that matches its Spin.
I invite the responsible Minister Sen Conroy and his Dept. to stop sitting on their hands, and subject this Telcon to a blowtorch.

I'm not a fan of vodafone- especially given calls go through to VM when i've got reception. My suggestion to anyone who's still in a contract and doesn't want to break it is this: go down to the lowest possible plan you can and set up a permanent diversion from your vodafone number to telstra/optus number. From the plans i've been on vodafone just counts a call diversion the same as if you're making a call (so you can use your 'cap' minutes). Then when your contract is up, port out.

Where do I start with Vodafone ..... First of all I signed up almost two months ago for a $49 vodafone cap, which was advertised as $450 worth of credit, 1.5gb of internet and 200 free minutes to vodafone and 3 networks across australia. It has been nothing but a nightmare! It took almost a week for my account to be set up, I was an existing customer and continued with the same number. I called vodafone to ask why it was taking so long and spent 2 hours on the phone to be told I needed to go into a vodafone store. I did go into a vodafone store, only to arrive and be told I didnt need to be there either and that my sim would connect in a " few hours" .... it didnt. So back to the store I went again, to be told again give it a couple of hours.
Secondly I ended up paying a bill twice because theyre system crashed which left me short for Xmas, and to top it off I am actually only getting 500mb of internet per month which the plan I signed up for stated 1.5gb.
Last but not least the reception is terrible, it takes weeks to get to an operator if you call them it is a disgrace!

I tried to call a number in FYR Macedonia many times and each time I never
got the right person, it just diverted to some other country sometimes I'd
have a Spanish speaking person, sometimes a totally different number in Macedonia. This went on for weeks. Everytime I tried to explain to Vodafone
they passed it off as one of my imaginations. Yet with every phone call I was
charged. Even if the other number did not pick up I was still charged for the call. Here in Sydney my reception is contiously dropping out as I'm talking and people get very fed up with me. Sometimes txts arrive the next day, I've had one arrive 3 months after it was sent from Dubai.

Lets see, where to begin. For the last few weeks it keeps dropping out on calls, including important ones and then there comes loss of reception. One minute I have reception and then I look at my phone, still in the same spot and there is none. When I inquired about it with vodafone, I was told it must be the area I live in. It happens when Im in the city also so it's not the area. Dont receive some text messages until hours after they're sent which again is bad since sometimes its important ones regarding work. The internet hardly works on the phone and yet I get charged for over usage fees. Its seriously a joke. Once my contract is up, I'm going back to Optus.

I have been with vodaphone for 12 months. i travel around australia for work. everywhere i go...QLD,NSW,VIC and WA have POOR or NO RECEPTION. Due to work i diverted my vodaphone to a telstra number as vodaphone had NO RECEPTION. RECEPTION is a service you pay for in a contract...!! I have now recived a $420 bill. WTF. I have now moved back to telstra....NO CHOICE and will pay for the privilage of reception! The Australian Telecommunications Network is a joke. VODAPHONE has let Australians down and so has the government liberial and labour. AUSTRALIA IS CALLING!!!! "VODAPHONE POWER TO YOU" I dont think so.....I cant even contact your service department and cant get help in store???

Now that THREE and vodafone have merged, the combining of two of the worst networks is going to be a disaster. I have been a 2 year customer with three and the reception (basically no reception) i get is terrible, and i live in metro melbourne. I'd be rich if a i had a dollar for everytime my calls get cut due to bad reception! If there is going to be a class action on vodafone there should definetly be one on THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

internet is almost an option on my contract. Sometimes i can use it other times it takes over 10 mins to open an email and i have full reception bars. I have to have my bill emailed and a text message sent because hopefully i will get atleast one of these to indicate when my bill is due. And if none is sent and i call up they insist that i havent read my unsent email and i have then been charged a late fee. grrrrrr only 13 months to go!

What annoys me is Vodaphone knew there were problems when all these customers were calling up with the same complaints. Instead of admitting it they let us think it was something wrong with the phone or something we were doing when they knew full well that it was the network. That for me is the most criminal part.

2647 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very average at 27 Dec 2010 01:52:42 PM
My issues are calls dropping out and texts being delayed. It is not uncommon for a call to disconnect 3 times within 10 minutes, very frustrating. When texting Vodafone to Vodafone, again not uncommon for a delay of between 20 - 90 minutes for it to be received either end. Also, there is no coverage at Swan Reach, less than 2 hours from Adelaide. Lastly, I can go to the next suburb and it goes from 3G to Edge, and I'm in the metro area. The disappointing thing is I'm on a $69 plan, where before I was on a cheap pre paid plan with Virgin and never ever had an issue

I have also had countless problems with being overcharged on my accounts and appaling customer service. I will see out my contract and then take my business to Optus.

Call drop outs, no reception, sporadic connection to internet. Can't wait to switch to another telco ... I keep getting told by customer service reps that they are merging with the 3 network and coverage will improve. This is after waiting for nearly 2 hours on the phone. I am regretting the day that i let them con me into renewing my contract with the lure of a free handset. As soon as I did, the problems started. And the Nokia phone they sent me is not the one i was promised!

Well My partner and I have two services with Vodafone. we have had them for almost a year now. We moved down to melbourne recently and (almost 3 months ago) and the service drops out, no coverage and I tried contacting the Service center on different occassions but couldnt wait on the line for longer than half an hour and still not get through. I however got through to them once after 3 hours of atempts and the reason I was so persistant was because my partners handset got stolen. I tried 4 times and waited different times, the successful one was for 48 minutes. By then , I was so frustrated I couldnt even complain about my the network connection. Look i love the rates Vodafone offer but since moving down to Victoria I just am very frustrated with the signal and their customer service.

I switched from 3 to Vodaphone about in October 2010 after complaining to 3 for months and months about their terrible service - no reception and call dropping out costing em a fortune in mobile calls from my landline. Until about 2 weeks ago the Vodafone reception was bearable but now it is the same as 3. Hutchinsons owns 3 and Vodafone so I know who should be sued.

2631 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is badly at 27 Dec 2010 01:49:21 PM
Been with Vodafone now for 4 months and was waiting for the so-called software bugs to be fixed, but nothing has changed. I'm having bad reception at home (despite being within the boundaries of their coverage map, at least for GSM & Edge), constant call drop-outs everywhere despite bars on my iPhone showing good signal strength and often even 3G availability. In inner city areas like Newtown (Sydney) there is often no reception at all and (above ground) train rides are notorious for lack of network connectivity. 3G overall is a joke; even in the city and areas where a strong signal is indicated it's pretty useless; there's often no data reception at all.

Just put my name down to potentially join the class action against the company, plus gonna lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman and will try to get out of contract and get compensation.

I have been a customer of Vodafone for 10 years PLUS, always payed my bills within a respectable time bracket and never really had any issues until now. I have just discovered that my latest contract of 24 months has mysteriously gained another 3 months on top of the 24 months. I have gone into their stores and repeatedly asked for some assistance, but I do not receieve any calls etc...NOTHING. (Trying to get onto a customer service rep is a nightmare too) As far as im concerned, this is ILLEGAL and I will be trying to take this further! I am an call community nurse and I am heavyly relying on my phone, and it is disappointing that 80% of the time I have no reception or very poor reception. Last few days I have had no reception at all and I can not recieve incoming calls which means I am loosing my income. My workplace is not able to contact me nor am I able to contact them, therefore they replace me by calling other staff. I was involved in a road accident and due to the lack of reception I was unable to make an emergency call. Vodafone failed me and dissapointed me miserably.

2620 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Abysmal at 27 Dec 2010 01:47:21 PM
We're a business who's been with vodaphone for 3 years. We've got 20 phones through their service via a reseller. In the last 4 to 5 months, drop outs and poor coverage have become increasingly problematic. At least one in every two is cut off during the call.

With recent inquiries via the reseller, they admitted that there was a failed software upgrade with 3G which caused widespread issues across the vodaphone network. We're in discussions with the reseller to end our contract prematurely which they seem to believe will not be an issue. We suggest people force the point to end their contracts without penalty.

2619 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is spending too much on advertising and nowhere enough on core services at 27 Dec 2010 01:47:05 PM
Live at Noosa Heads on Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Despite maps showing good coverage for the region (phone/txt), don't be fooled. Coverage is worse than bad in many built-up areas with continually fluctuating signal strength and regular drop-outs. Problems appear to have increased significantly in recent months. And don't get me started on their website; its as unreliable as the network coverage.

Company has taken its eye off the ball.........too much advertising for new customers and have forgot about the ones they already have (who likely won't be staying around for much longer!! Shame really)

I signed up with vodafone over 2 years ago on the promise that I'd get 3g phone and internet within 6 months...that dragged out to a year then 18 months. 3g finally arrived but the internet showed only minimal improvement and the phone none. In the past 4 - 6 months the internet has become slower than dial up (it took almost 10 min to load this page), continually drops out and often tries to reconnect to the gprs network (which it occasionally succeeds in doing despite the settings on 3g only). The phone is supposed to connect to the internet but I rarely succeed as it can't find a reliable network...so I'm paying for something I am unable to access due to vodafone network issues. I feel deceived and ripped off!

The blackberry is constantly on SOS calls only, or simply "Network Not Found"

I am in Beenleigh which is a pretty central place, just north of Gold Coast, and this has been happening for almost a year.

When will they actually start providing a service that EXISTS!?! I am switching to Telstra soon as I cannot cope with not being able to actually make or receieve phone calls.

I've been with Vodafone for about 18 months now. The service was fine - great, actually - until about six months ago. I live in an a metro area of the Gold Coast which used to get about 3-5 bars of 3G reception. For the most part it worked fine and provided acceptable service. Then almost overnight, everything changed. I now get about 0-2 bars and data is an absolute pain. I thought it might've been my handset but after testing different handsets with different sim cards, the problem was clear. Unfortunately the issue isn't isolated, as reception everywhere in general is rubbish. 2G on the other hand is fine, however is pretty slow for data... particularly when connected via GPRS. This isn't what I paid for. I never thought I'd say it, but it seems Vodafone is WORSE than Droptus. in six months time (if I can last that long) I'll absolutely be joining Telstra.

It took 5 days for my new phone to activate on a plan (so no phone access), I have very limited coverage now resulting in me having to get a home phone just to be contacted by people. My phone drops out of calls every 6.30 minutes and noone can tell me why, when I am standing in places with great reception (which is rare). I wish I had stayed with my old phone and 3. Just saw a news story on this, thought I'd share my pain. I have been with telestra all my life until I got an iPhone 2 years ago. Since swapping to an iPhone I changed networks as vodephone had the the cheapest deals. Since changing network, I no longer get reception in my office and even most areas of my house. Message's can take 48 hours to appear in my message bank so frequently that I have had to remove my mobile number from my business cards as I wasn't receiving messages. I thought these issues may have been related to the iPhone and Thad why I have never registered my disappointment in case the problem related to the iPhone, I love this device and I'm not getting rid of it so I just put up with it. Knowing now that is a network issue, I'm sharing my pain not for compensation, just to put a rocket under vodefone and get them to fix the issue.

2558 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Outrageous at 27 Dec 2010 01:33:30 PM
After reading the article on the Sydney morning herald I finally realized that I wasn't the only person experiencing incredibly poor network service. I've gone for months with terrible service. I've spent a lot of time thinking "it must just be my location or even my phone" but after hearing the same problems from my business partner, my wife and then gradually everyone I know who has signed with vodafone- I've finally come to the conclusion that I've been paying for a service that is not delivering on even the most simplest of functions. Clients can't contact me, I can't call my family of friends from home- it's not only a massive inconvenience- it's a huge concern when you might have to make an emergency phone call! SO I called vodafone and told them that I wasn't going to pay this months bill. They agreed. I encourage every vodafone customer to not to pay their latest bill and demand a refund. They can't refuse but unfortunately it hasn't made a difference to their service.

2556 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor call quality calls that drop out. fustrating customer service. unable to connect at 27 Dec 2010 01:32:49 PM

The call reception is often terrible or the calls drop out so more money is wasted trying to reconnect . Have been unable to make calls at inportant times due to an overloaded network ,. also God help you if you need to call the call centre , the automated service will drive you crazy and after a about half hour in a call quew the call then usually drops out so you have to start all over again.

2554 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:32:32 PM
I have held an account my three accounts with Vodafone for approx 3 years, only recently changing to another network. The three accounts, however, have a credit balance on them. Vodafone have decided that even though the money is not theirs, they are refusing any attempts (now ongoing for over 3 months) to refund over $220 owed to me. Hello, Telephone Ombudsman...I''ve had enough of dealing with incompetence.

2552 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is THIS YEAR! at 27 Dec 2010 01:32:15 PM
I've been with Vodafone for almost 10 years.
I used to have full bars of reception no matter where I went.

I've noticed that when I receive or make calls, I have two bars, sometimes only one!
When the calls cut out or drop cut, my full bars of reception are instantly restored!

Is this now the way Vodafone treats its loyal customers?

2550 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Inaccurate balance at 27 Dec 2010 01:32:06 PM
The remaining value and balance provided online is constantly inaccurate, has raised the issue with Vodafone so many times, yet no actions! This has resulted in going above my cap value and being ripped off by Vodafone every month. Not to mention the poor reception and the drops-out!

2548 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is rediculous at 27 Dec 2010 01:31:56 PM
I have problems getting reception in Brisbane. The internet is so slow it is almost useless. My picture messages don't go through for hours. When calling the connection stops working and all you can hear is this stupid alien noise so you have to hang up and call back. Sometimes the call won't even go through. It is slow. It doesn't tell me I have voicemail for hours. It is SO expensive for the benefit I am receiving. I am changing to TPG as soon as my contract runs out. A LOT better service, and the prices and contracts are a lot more consumer friendly.

2546 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Frustrated! at 27 Dec 2010 01:31:03 PM
I'm with 3 and have been a for almost 5 years. I don't get reception in my house in the inner suburbs. I'm talked to them many times and they let it slip on one call (last Christmas!) that they know my house is in a bit of a black spot but they still would not let me out of my contract. We get drop out all over the place. I have been thinking it might be my handset? Highly frustrated.

2545 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is coverage is boardering on pointless. at 27 Dec 2010 01:30:54 PM
I told the sales rep I travel between Brisbane and Mackay several times a week, and that I live in Beerwah and needed the phone both as a 24 hour contact and safety net when on the road. I have very little coverage if any at times when at home, Coverage on the Bruce Highway, is extreamly patchy if not totally non existent from beerwah to Mackay in a lot of places. Vodaphone is not a seriouse provider at all as they do not appear to have improved their coverage at all in the 3 years I have been with them. They really need a seriouse wake up call as they put the lives of people like me at risk by misrepresenting their coverage areas at point of sale.

2544 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No signal inside home in Burwood area at 27 Dec 2010 01:30:32 PM
We have 4 (plan) contracts with Vodaphone with over a year left. It is impossible to call them to complain. Does any one know how to cancel the contracts without paying penalty or spending hours in trying to call them? We will gladly return back the phones they gave us just to get out of contracts, so we can move to Optus or Telstra. Vodaphone service and signal reception is absolutely disgraceful.

2543 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Drop outs & low coverage at 27 Dec 2010 01:30:26 PM
I have just moved from NSW to Perth & am hoping coverage is better than what I received in Wamberal. Constant drop outs in the Wamberal & Erina region causing double the necessary phone calls to be made, no reception in my work building in Wyong & delayed messages. Let's hope that there will be improvements with coverage as this is what I was promised by the sales staff when signing up again to a contract... Silly mistake. Id just like to get out of contract & go to another provider.. Ie Telstra that provides reliable coverage... Or pay my monthly bill based on the percentage of time I'm actually within range!? So frustrating!
