Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2191 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very poor and we should be compensated! at 27 Dec 2010 12:01:01 PM
I am sick of my phone connection dropping out mid call, loosing coverage and having to re-set my phone and the overall performance. I want to jump ship but can't afford it as I'm still in a contract. I hear it will take up to 2 years before the benefits come into play from Vodaphone buying out 3...what about your customers in the meantime - I want some kind of compensation and I want it now!...

2190 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally Useless Company at 27 Dec 2010 12:00:48 PM
I live at Cabarita Beach, Far North Coast NSW and have NEVER had any reception at home!!! I can't receive, make calls or retrieve calls on my Vodafone mobile from my home. I either have to go down the end of the street or up into town to do any of the previously mentioned actions. Can send texts IF I wait long enough to get a signal, but often fails then also. Can take up to 2 days for my text to arrive at it's destination. Have been told on numerous occasions that new towers are being erected over the past 5 years but that is a load of hogswash. My niece works for Vodafone in Sydney and the rewards that they receive (overseas trips, dinners at top restaurants, grand Xmas parties etc)are fantastic. Maybe they should look after their customers as well as their employees. After my experience on 23/12/2010 though, I have now decided that it is time for me to look for another mobile company. Tried to send a message in Tweed Heads, which had full reception and received a SYS-ALERT and just thought that I had no texts left (I had over 90 only a couple of days before so this totally confused me). Sent a message for my account balance to find I had no credit at all. Proceeded to the Vodafone shop to find out that I had had $22 odd dollars worth of credit and my texts on 22/12/2010 but my credit was due to expire on 23/12/2010. This is the first time that I haven't been advised that my credit expiry date was getting close and advise to add credit. So they told me to call 1555 and ask for complaints which I did. After waiting ages for them to answer, I asked for complaints and was instantly disconnected. Did this again with the same response, so I guess it is time to give these loosers the flick and get on with the rest of my life.

2184 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 11:59:55 AM
my phone is just one year old and for the past month i have had to turn my phone off and back on to recieve any messages. If i try to connect to the internet it doesnt work so have to do the same process. Being on pre-paid i start to think i have ran out of credit but its never the case. I am glad there is going to be a nation wide complaint to the company because this is unacceptable and downright pathetic. In this day and age we need mobile telephones in order to keep our lives in order and the simplicity of being able to communicate in any place is pure genious. The engineers behind the coverage monitoring of Vodafone are pure idiots. Either sort it out or shut your company down Vodafone cos if you dont take action soon you could be filing for bankruptcy anyway. I am happy to finally be able to rant a little and know that I will not be needing to buy a new phone but I am sorry to say I am very disappointed with the service. A real shame.

On the 30th December this month my contract ends with Vodafone, I am going to Telstra as the network is perfect and fast around my area (2155 Rouse Hill, Kellyville area) I either get three things in my top left hand signal corner, (No Service, Searching or just 1 bar) SMS are delivered late, VM come through at 1 or 2 am in the morning important messages that are delayed, or the pick some milk up from the shop message comes in after I been to the shops ? WTF enough is enough GOODBYE VODAFONE AFTER 10 YEARS !!!!

I had always been a Telstra client, but changed to Vodaphone as my friend in Perth is on the network. She has just moved to Karratha and now every 5 minutes the call drops off and I have to ring her? What the hell is that all about? Again after years of trouble free broadband with Telstra, I changed to a mobile broadband usb. Since I started 12 months ago, the service has just got worse and worse. I am lucky if the service doesn't drop out every 30 minutes and the download speed is at tortoise level. I doubtI will complete my 24 months contract as I will be in an insane asylum before then! Thanks vodafail for nothing

2177 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is a rip-off at 27 Dec 2010 11:58:50 AM
I'm in Bendigo and my phone calls always have bad reception and often drop out. When I go to see my family in St.Arnaud I have no reception at all, this means that I just have to hope that the trip goes smoothly as I have no way of contacting anyone should I need to. I have missed phone calls from my workplace as a result of the reception issue which has meant I have missed the opportunity to work and gain further income. When I initially asked about vodaphones reception the question was avoided and I was given a spiel about the governement giving them some money to increase their coverage....I haven't noticed that that has happened in the last 18 months!!!

2174 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Dec 2010 11:57:57 AM
My gripe is more with the original 3 mobile. I have just finished paying a 2 year contract out for a mobile dongle for my PC which never worked. WE were not able to use it at home or abroad. Likewise with our 2 mobile phones we have very poor receoption having to run up and down the street in the hope of getting some reception. Others in my family have the same problems. Of course I have lodged many many phone calls to 3 vodaphone to lodge complaints but always to no avail. they are always stupid enough to send a respsonse survey after my "customer experience with their tech section" and always give negative feedback, which never rates a response. When appropriate and less costly for us, we will change to another network.

I've had problems with my phone for years and how stupid of me for blaming my actual phone and not the company/network. I've had messages arrived in the middle of the night when they've been sent in the middle of the day, heaps of problems sending messages ( I think I pushed the send button 20 times before I gave up) and I can't even tally up the amount of times I've said to people "I can't hear a word you are saying!" Not to mention the number of times my signal has completely disappeared while other people's phone are working perfectly fine. It is about time I stop being so lazy and do something about it.

I have recently moved to the Caboolture area from Burpengary where my service was good. But now Im lucky to have 1 or 2 bars. It takes me a few attemps to send a text. If I call someone I have to make sure to tell them I have horrible service so I will cut out sooner rather than later. I don't have a landline connected so it is concerning having 2 children and not having the phone service when needed. It is really frustrating. I thought I was the only one and I am glad to find this site.

After signing up for wire-less internet it didn't work, even after a tech from Vodafone tried to fix it. I asked to cancel the contract (the same day I received the modem), yet they still bill me every month!

I did eventually speak to somebody (3globalservices.com) in Mumbai after 4 hours (really!) of transfers to various managers to be told that they didn't have my request on their "log", thus they couldn't help. I have been waiting now for 2 weeks for their tech bloke to call to fix my lack of reception! Perhaps he will install a tower in my yard!

2167 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 11:56:39 AM
I have been with Vodafone for around 6 years now and never have I experienced such poor reception, customer service and such delays.
I frequently getting people saying they called me, yet my phone never rang nor did it register a missed call but days later I finally recieve the voicemail message. I'm constantly turning my phone off and on to try to increase my reception. I recently was told to turn my "3G" off to gain more reception and it worked to a point where my phone says I have full reception yet I go to make a call and it tells me no network coverage!
I thank the creator of this website for letting all of us voice our opionions to a point where someone may listen to us!
If something isn't done in the coming month I will no longer be a vodafone user.

I have been with vodafone for number of years and am so over them!! I travel a lot and have NO reception, the data which I need for business is pathetic. My blackberry battery is disgusting and the phone died a couple of months ago and so when I took it in to get fixed it was total drama!! I tried contacting customer service and found out to my chagrin that customer service was in India or some place offshore.
I ended up with NO service for this broken phone and as soon as my contract is up I am waving goodbye

I was with Telstra for 6yrs before recently cutting short my contract and switching over to VF. VF were offering great deals and because I was no longer happy with what price I was paying with Telstra, I made the switch. In the month I have been signed up with VF I have had no problems with txt messaging but the reception/coverage has been absolutely terrible. My Husband and I are both VF customers and 95% of the time when we have called one another (and that's in the metro area), we can barely hear each other or it completely drops out. Most of my calls are always dropping out and the internet takes a very very long time to act, browsing is painful! We also have VMB which also drops out constantly. This is not good enough so lets hope VF get their act together and sort out their network asap so good paying customers can continue with their lives in a more convenient manner.

I am a mega-pissed off vodafone user. I have been with them since january this year and am utterly dissapointed with them. I am one of the lucky ones who receive no signal in more that 3/4s of my house, which is in a suburb less than 10mins from the city. My 3G Internet is extremely slow and regularly fails when not connected to wifi. I am constantly with no signal or extremely low and useless. I just want to make a call without it cutting out, use google without being told that the cellular network is currently not available!!! Arrggggggv

it is shit network. shit phone.n97. it may cost me a lot of business deal and my company's reputation
27 Dec 2010 12:29:48 PM: No, I'd say your punctuation would probably be the chief cause of that.
27 Dec 2010 01:29:29 PM: Trolling on a complaint board ? That's pretty low bruh. Do you work for Vodaphone or something ?
27 Dec 2010 03:16:31 PM: i have had vodafone now since 28th dec 2009 i have had problems from week one of my contract the fone is a major problem a nokia n97 a piece of junk i origonally wanted iphone and got talked out of it by vfone staff now when i want change to wot i wanted they say its gonna cost me heaps i have to pay outold contract and apply for new one, rubbish as far as i am concerned, they sell me a piece of junk they should replace with equivilent or better not worse. my fone dropps out eve when i have 5 bars of service and even though it has 2 -3 bars it says i cant get connection ???? they tell me fone needs software upgrade i do this online and nothing changes. i use my fone primarily for bussiness as i am interstate truck driver and it causes me massive frustration i have the same problems in any capital city i visit and many coutry centers too i have had to keep my old telstra prepaid to make up for vfones unreliability. Gary Miller lmleroyb@gmail.com
i am more than willing to join anyclass action or just get the fone i wanted in first place and the service i pay for
27 Dec 2010 03:17:51 PM: LOL, dude. Consider using more punctuation.
27 Dec 2010 03:37:35 PM: "LOL, dude." who cares??? this is not an english writing exam. GET OVER IT.
27 Dec 2010 03:38:31 PM: consider using a spell check too
27 Dec 2010 03:38:37 PM: Thats pretty bad.

I had what was an unlocked phone and since using the Vodafone "dis"service my message center is stuck to Vodafone and I can no longer send text messages.
27 Dec 2010 03:48:10 PM: i agree they are crap and yea man who cares about the spelling i just can never be bothered checking my typing in these things and im sure that spelling has nothing to do with spelling they are just Crap unreliable, liars who just dont care they dont even have there call centres here lets try india egypt what the hell. ill class action with you shanan_beals@hotmail.com they need to be stripped of there great bright red and be downgraded to dirt brown
27 Dec 2010 03:56:25 PM: I find the grammar, punctuation, and endless syntax errors in this piece of prose atrocious. The level of English is touching no illiteracy. It%u2019s as though this person was educated by reading American comics. What has gone wrong with our school system in Australia? I hope the person has their phone upgraded.
28 Dec 2010 07:33:31 AM: Since time immemorial, illiterate and or dyslexic people have learnt to communicate using the written and spoken word of popular culture. Ie, an illiterate or dyslexic person from the 70's would be prone to using 'hippyisms'. This guy sounds like a hard working tax paying aussie champion, for you to nit pick over his grammer? especially in this forum? Pure sehole.

2158 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL! at 27 Dec 2010 11:54:08 AM
Been a vodafail customer for way to long, around 4 years.. My mates and i used to joke about how poor the reception was outside of sydney in coastal towns which was barely acceptable, now i lose reception in military road, sydney and everywhere else in sydney on a constant basis! Vodafail staff insist that it is the phone i'm using that is the cause of the poor reception, but surely through about 7 different phones, there optimistic denial can't be tolerated any longer. (Watching the cricket now, not even vodafone hotspot works!) After so many years of putting up with vodafail, enough is enough. I have been stupidly paying $99 per month on my contract to recieve dreadful coverage. Give us a fair go vodafail and stop sponsoring major events like the ashes so we have to be shown your infuriating sponsorship all day every day

2156 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No service - bad reception at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:48 AM
I can only use about 10% of my cap plan when i am at home. I go from 1 bar to 'no service' 90% of the time. Vodafone promised to investigate and get back to me on 24th dec. I had to call them on the afternoon of 24th. They said the investigation was ongoing and that i'd hear from them when they had an answer. I was given 1 weeks worth off call costs off my bill to make up for this problem - a problem that has been getting worse over the last three months.
27 Dec 2010 11:57:59 AM: I'd like to add that I am paying $80 per month when I am getting about $10 value out of my service and they don't seem to care.I can't wait to get out of my contract. My neighbour (10mt away)had her contract cancelled due to bad reception yet I have to wait until they can 'test' my service and deliver a verdict!

2152 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:23 AM
I forgot to mention I can't get any service just about anywhere and I can't even get a page to load on the internet so that 1.5gb of data is absolutely useless to me. 4 days after I got the phone I it slipped out of my hand from less than 3 feet off the ground and the whole screen shattered. I rang the insurance that I paid extra for and they said it would cost me $200 (25% of the value to buy one brand new) to have my phone repaired or replaced. The guy in the allphones store never mentioned anything about this excess when I signed up and I certainly wasn't given any product disclosure statements with this information. I couldn't afford the $200 at the time (being a single mother of 3) I said I would call them back. By the time I had gathered some money together I got my first bill and it was $316 which naturally I refused to pay and so I could not use my insurance as long as I had an oustanding bill. So 4 months down the track I still owe hundreds of dollars (they are about to cut my phone off after 10 plus years of loyalty and paying my bills on time every time), I have a smashed phone and barely any network coverage. No, I'M NOT HAPPY!

2146 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Rubbish!!!! at 27 Dec 2010 11:52:43 AM
Had a 2 year contract mobile internet card for my laptop, the only place the thing ever semi-worked was at home!!! Constant dropouts and worse than dial-up speeds when it did actually connect. Customer service (which was obviously not in Australia) was pathetic, couldn't answer basic questions & they just transfer you or "accidentally" hang up on you!! (pretty much the same across all the phone companies though! When will these companies realise that cheaper is not always better when it comes to call centres! A nightmare trying to get a simple thing done to any service! You end up calling 5 times anyway!)
More importantly, coverage was useless! Was away a couple of times with friends with 4 other laptops and mobile internet & they all worked no problem with fast broadband speeds, I was sitting there still trying to connect!! Ended up using a local wifi hotspot instead (& still paid for Vodafone's rubbish !) Gone to Telstra now, costs a bit more & the customer service is just as bad (if not worse!) but at least the thing works!!

2145 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 11:52:38 AM
For five years we had our family business's six services with Vodafone, the coverage was never any good over our home office in 2035 or at parts of UNSW but the customer service we got as business customers was good. We recently had a change of account manager to the invisible man. Then I did a road trip to Byron Bay, up the New England Highway, back down the Pacific. As a test I bought pre-paid SIMs from Optus and Telstra and found, using thjree identical Nokia phones found both Optus and Telstra have good coverage in country towns and Byron Bay, but Vodafone coverage was atrocious. I contacted Vodafone many times over a six week period and CSRs kep promising 'someone will get back to me', of course they never did. We have now switched to Telstra.

2141 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is an utter disappointment at 27 Dec 2010 11:50:59 AM
I'm finding it sort of comforting that there are so many other people in the same bloody predicament as I'm in! I was a happy customer with Three for about 5 years, I only switched over about a month ago because I was assured that the service would be BETTER (it was only the no extra roaming charges that I cared about, my service was fine). Plus the Three/Vodafone store seemed to only be selling iphones to vodafone customers, they had some kind of weird hierarchical waiting list going on. From the get-go I've been terribly unimpressed with Vodafone, lamenting that I paid extra fees to switch over. I feel betrayed by the staff for not being honest with me and taking my money!! And then on a weekend away, where previously I had impeccable coverage from Three, I was unable to contact my friend I had been wanting to see because I had no reception! So frustrating! I live walking distance to the CBD and can't make phone calls to people within 5km of me! And at times I've attempted to send messages and they've failed because of poor reception, and then sent all at once later on costing me 5 times the price! I'm frustrated, my friends are frustrated. Grrrr so angry. And sad. I miss Three :(

2140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:50:54 AM
Terrible coverage where I lived (even though it was inner Sydney!) and Vodafone refused to do anything about it for a number of years. Then they started charging my bill for services I had never asked for. After months of trying to resolve this I eventually started a TIO complaint. All improperly billed money was eventually refunded but Vodafone never addressed the fault in their billing system that caused the overcharging in the first place.

Not to mention the huge wait times to talk to customer service staff. These used to be regularly 45 minutes, and are still something like 10-15 mins. In comparison, Telstra have made huge strides recently to improve their customer service, with friendlier staff and zero wait time every time I have called them.

Ported out to Telstra in the end, and advising everyone I know to steer clear of Vodafone.

When I purchased my iphone on a vodaphone plan I was assured the area I was moving to had reception snd checked the network coverage maps to confirm. when I moved though I dsicovered that I have hardly any signal at home and none at my place of work. I can't use the internet anywhere in the area! When I complained, I was told to document 3 times that my calls had been disconnected due to poor coverage. I did this easily and gave them details. I was later told via a message that they had checked and that coverage in my area was in fact fine and they were upgrading the towers in teh near future anyway. That was 12mths ago! If anything it is worse now that before - maybe they need to come and visit some of these places and see just how fine the coverage is! very frustrating and annoying when you're committed to a plan. I'm sure if I didn't uphold my end of the bargain, they'd be quick to do something about it!

2131 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BAD at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:28 AM
I was with Vodafone for years, it took like 4 hours for someone to get a MMS from me. No Reception bad Drop Outs. You think with their call centre in Egypt they could afford to improve their network! But NOPE! They go and buy another Telco "3" yet their own network is crap! I since changed to telstra you might pay a few $$ more but at least it works and their customer service is in Australia. BONUS!
27 Dec 2010 11:50:17 AM: True i once sent a PXT at like 10am, the receiver didn't get it till like 3am in the morning. Let's just say they weren't impressed.
27 Dec 2010 11:52:20 AM: I've had that happen also pisses me off
27 Dec 2010 11:57:58 AM: Some of my texts can take up to 1 to 2 days to be received
27 Dec 2010 11:59:16 AM: it takes me 2 to 3 days to recieve MMS. It's a joke.
27 Dec 2010 12:02:01 PM: Their customer service is shocking too.
27 Dec 2010 12:02:53 PM: there txt/MMS service is a complete joke.. Hours, sometimes DAYS to send or receive a txt/sms.. just usually get the resend later BS..

HOW HARD IS IT TO SEND 300K OR LESS DATA ACROSS YOUR CRAP NETWORK VODAFONE?
27 Dec 2010 12:03:07 PM: LMAO VODAFONE TOLD ME IT WAS A ISSUE WITH MY FRIENDS NETWORK. GOOD TO SEE IT HAPPENS TO OTHERS ALSO STUPID VODAFONE LIARS
27 Dec 2010 12:08:42 PM: That one is a real issue their TXT/PXT service is rubbish. I think Australia Post could deliver a message faster then Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 01:02:48 PM: I have been having txt problems too for the last couple of weeks. Its so annoying specialy when your txting a guy you like and u dont know whether they got the txt or not and you are worried why they havnt replied :(
27 Dec 2010 01:12:35 PM: sometimes some of my sms are sent but never received at all !
and I'm ask them why dont you reply to my questions ? and the person's never even got it, am I still charged for this ?
27 Dec 2010 02:35:31 PM: It often takes me a day or two to send/recieve mms. My data speeds suck, even though I am within 2 km of the CBD. I get missed calls without ever ringing, i drop calls, i get patchy coverage. I'm a freelancer, so nothing is worse thatn a telco that doesnt do it right. I just want to swap to another carrier so i can use my phone. I pay $80 a month, and its not good enough. If i'd known about how bad it would have been, i wouldnt have signed up with vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 02:37:32 PM: Like the Tassie centre, Vodafone closed its Egyptian Call centre quite some time ago. My experience with the Egyptian centre was one of technical competence expertise and honesty.
All Vf Australia call centre is now in Mumbai[Bombay] India, where Vf has many regional service call centres. They operate 24/7 but Aust customers are restricted to 8 till 8. Why? Amongst all Indian Call centres, the Mumbai centre is rated the worst on all points by a country mile.
27 Dec 2010 02:56:43 PM: I was in the process of tryng to cancel my plan, when I was asked why - hey, I got no coverage in my home, no coverage in my suburb, random dropouts elsewhere. I was asked if I wanted to talk to the Techo's (in a distinctly indi-gangetic plain accent)to which I said, "No, I've had enough it isn't a technical problem with either my phone, home, suburb or me! I just want to cancel". This was after waiting some 20 mins in the queue. The response "That is nice sir, I'll just transfer you to the technical staff" followed by the equally inept "The operators are currently busy, please hold and we will transfer you to the first available representative". Aaaaargh! I guess there's a good reason they don't like to have a customer contact centre with customers face to face - they'd get the daylights punched out of them!!

Seriously this is not and hasn't been professional for sometime!!
7 Jan 2011 12:16:23 PM: I now just attach a photo to a pigeons foot - it's way cheaper - and much more reliable.

2130 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 11:48:17 AM
My network speed is 0 even with full 3G reception. No point in having a contract with data if I can't even use the data. My messages can take up to 48 hours to be received by the person I am sending it too. My chances of making or receiving phone calls is pretty slim too as my number is always unavailable even if the phone is on with full reception. Oh and calling Vodafone results in a min 90 min wait! So much for a reliable telco anything they touch falls apart just look at our cricketers!!

My daughter and I are both currently with Vodafone and now don't get reception around the corner from our home at my brother's house. We live in north-west suburban Melbourne. It had become somehting of a family joke, but it's not funny! We also travel around the state and in several locations where our friends on "3" have coverage, we don't. When I rang, they said there were no plans to alter this any time soon. When I asked about the "3", I was told that they were considered a different company. Whatthe????? So it's off to Telstra we go - both of us - me on a high, business plan and her on a substantial prepaid! Enough is enough!!!! Good on you for starting this site!

Using a Vodafone 3G broadband in Harrison ACT with USB plug-in the data rarely connects, keeps dropping and when it does connect I would swear that a bit of string and two cans would provided a better data rate. The bit that bugs me is that the VF tower is 1km closer than the Telstra tower but my Telstra mobile gets excellent coverage (crap data allowance though). VF is closer and should be able to provide a more consistant coverage.

I have been with vodafone ever since i got my first phone 5 years ago; it was great, now when people call me, it goes straight to message bank even though my phone is on and i have full service; most of the time my messages are delayed and i have friends trying to call me saying why havnt you replied or did you get my message; that is on the off chance that they actually get through to my phone;.. i mean vodafone is the best for all your plans and price costs; its just the network coverage and the delivery of messages as such.

2120 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:45:19 AM
I purchased a phone from Vodaphone a while back. This Mobile was terrible. It would not ring, would automatically go to message bank whilst people called- even in places with good reception and overall i was just unhappy with it.

I contact Vodaphone to tell them i no longer wanted in this contract, seeming the phone and service were terrible and its not what i am paying for. I told them i will still have the courtesy to remain loyal and if they could swap me another phone, i would remain a Vodaphone pre-paid customer.

They sent me from store, to the telephone, back to store, back to telephone. No one said they could help me and i was binded to this contract, hence enslaving me to pay for a rubbish phone and rubbish service.

THIS IS NOT ON!

After weeks of trying to contact Vodafone, in a split decision, I decided to swap networks to Telstra's next G network...best decision ever...

Everyone always bitches on about the poor customer services...but id rather have poor customer service that i never have to use rather then what ever Vodafone has to offer.

At present, I have made a complaint to Vodafone and the TIO explaining that due to their poor service I switched networks and am un willing to pay the exit fee of $402....(after paying $130 for 18 of 24 months !!!

2118 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Failure! at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:57 AM
I have been a vodafone customer for many years and currently still have 1 year to go on my contract. Reception has been mostly good to ok until about 6 months ago where it went from ok to complete fail. When there is reception, calling a landline connects faster than calling another vodafone number. If an attempt to call fails, the time it takes to cancel the call causes my phone to stuff up until I go into flight mode and back out (or until I reboot the phone) to clear the cancelled call. Where there is no reception, I have to do the flight mode trick for the phone to attempt to connect to vodafone again. I have tested with sims from other carriers just in case it was my phone. Seems to work just fine with other sims.

I want to keep my mobile number but can't get out of my contract (without penalty) because I can't get hold of a vodafone support person. No reply via email. Going through formal complaints channel is taking too long. I want out now!

2117 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Needs to fix its "3" network coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:48 AM
I have a THREE mobile broadband that is City Based. I get no reception even in outlying subs, such as Sunbury, Craigieburn, Melton and Cranbourne. I depend on my wireless BBand for communication, however the 3 netowrk coverage is just plain awful. It gives the option to roam to Telstra 2G (GPRS) in country areas at the rate of around $2 per MB. Given that Vodafone is itegrating the 3 network as its own and eliminating the 3 brand, then Vodafone had better review its 3 network Mobile Broadband with regard to extending coverage, otherwise it might as well shut the thing down
27 Dec 2010 11:51:15 AM: How moronic are you. Everyone knows that 3's coverage is only the metro area and going outside that roams onto telstra's network and off course there is going to be charges
27 Dec 2010 12:02:48 PM: Vodafone could change the roaming arrangements to allow roaming to its own network rather than telstra - thats if it HAS its own network beyond the cap cities

2113 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more painful that having a tooth removed without anaesthetic at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:24 AM
I have no data coverage and I live in the middle of Brisbane!!! I have just signed a contract for 2 years and am really dissapointed that I have minimal if no coverage Also, I went into 3 Vodafone in the city and asked if someone could help me with setting up my HTC. I have a hotmail account and for some reason it won't verify. The guy at the shop pretty much looked at it and said for me to ring Vodafone support and then proceeded to write the number down. I also asked if he could cancel my prepaid internet with 3 as I now (well I'm suppose to) have vodafone internet. He then gave me another number to call...... !!! I am sick of ringing Vodafone only to speak to someone on the other side of the world who have no idea and no people skills..... I am a single Mum who feels like I have been told lies just to get a sale. I feel sad that I have to pay an amount per month for a service that doesn't do what it is supposed to. I knew I should have never gone into a Vodafone store.......

Call quality is also poor.

Not good enough Vodafone, i'll be switching provides when my contract runs out in a next month...

2107 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 3? at 27 Dec 2010 11:43:15 AM
Is vodafone also the owners of 3? I have had trouble with them for 18 months and have low coverage, can never access voicemail yet am still charged for it.
Am I right it saying Vodafone owns 3?
27 Dec 2010 11:54:48 AM: Vodafone and Hutchisson's (Operators of 3) "merged", with Vodafone being the senior partner. Thus, Vodafone brand is scheduled to displace the 3 brand, likely within 12 months. Localities with "3" shops and Vodafone shops in close proximity will see one of the two being closed as part of the staff rationalisation program built into the integration process. How this affects 3 services is to be seen, but 3 in its coverage area is significantly faster than Vodafone's 3G service. I wouldn't mind one of the plastic 3's from the stores they'll refit or close !
27 Dec 2010 12:06:13 PM: 3 and Vodafone are owned by the same company but at this point of time are still two seperate intities.. Kind of like Coles Super Markets and Kmarts, they are both owned by coles but are still two different companies. However, 3 and Vodafone will be eventually the same thing.

I changed from Virgin(thinking they were not very good reception wise) to Vodafone only to be terribly disappointed. I live in Wynnum & constantly have no signal. I have to walk outside & once I have a signal have to stand very still incase it drops out. I am more without a service than with. If I am in the Redland Bay area, I never have a signal as well. This is just pathetic. There is also a case of a delay in receiving sms'. Vodafone is the worst & once my contract is up with them, I will definitely be changing carriers.

I have calls that drop out. I have messages that take days to get through either sending or receiving, if it is important I'll call to make sure the information gets throught immediately. i get no coverage from the Bruce highway Gympie turnoff right through to Tin Can Bay. The very place where if you breakdown you have to wait for someone to stop as it is so farawy from civilisation. My sister called and left a voiemail for me to attend a function for her daughters, there was no missed call alert or a voicemail message, so I was pissed at her for not being invited until I found out where my parents were, I felt like an after thought. Until I got another voicemail then I found out I had 2 which ended up being the one from my sister just getting it about a week late. i'll send text messages and the recipient will get it 4 or 5 times instead of once and vice versa. i just wonder if I am being charged once or the 4 or 5 times they receive them

Until I turned off my messagebank service I always used to get voicemail messages without my phone even ringing or registering a missed call. I had to sit outside in the middle of my yard to get reception. EPIC FAIL. Now with Telstra .. not as great value (in theory) and more expensive BUT calls / texts / voicemail work EVERY time without fail and customer service is available 24/7 with a real person to answer and help.

We are staying with our son in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. We are in a normal neighborhood that should not have any problems with coverage. If I want to send a message or send or recieve a phone call I have to go into one corner of the house and I mean stand in a corner next to the wall to make a call or send a message. If I step one foot out of this corner I will lose my call or my message will not be sent. What is that all about? My son has Optus and his mobile phone is fine.

This is expected as I know they don't have the network coverage of Telstra or Optus. We were on vodafone a few years back. The coverage was just so bad; had to stand on one small spot in the house or go to a few spots outside to get some reception. We are 17km out of town so we thought that could be the reason. We then decided to change service provider and have full coverage at any place in the house. Vodafone contacted us by phone a few times a couple of months ago inviting us in very creamy terms, to use them again. After our previous experience with them, I think we will never go back - no, thank you!

Signed up with TransACT who use the vodafail network on their mobile broadband $29 a month cap. Guess what? Sod-all reception despite the fact I lived two blocks away from TransACT head office. TransACT said that it was a dodgy modem, so they replaced it. Three times. When work took me to the Northern Territory, I asked if I could get coverage in Darwin, to which I was informed that Vodafone covered the whole NT.

I moved into my apartment at the CBD and guess what? No reception. Popped into Vodafail in the mall who laughed at me when I asked why I wasn't getting reception. Response? "Unless you live in Berrimah you won't get reception."

Quick call to TransACT and then to the TIO, and had a written apology and refund within a week. Never using them again.

Although when we got the phone the salesperson said they checked and saw we had complete reception but if not then to bring it back in to cancel the contract. When we did so we were told that there was no one who would say such a thing etc etc. This is a real shame as i remember when i first got a mobile phone there only carrier who had reception at Newcastle uni was Vodaphone. There was also the usual problems with text and voice messages received days later including on efrom my child's daycare to say he had a nasty bump and i needed to pick him up asap - it was 24hrs later that the msg came through.

Even if im anywhere its when wanting to make a call rather no reception or randomly my phone switches off!! I constantly lose reception, messages can take several days to get through, I have hours where the reception just fades in and out. When I first started with them, the service was heaps better but is just going backwards now

2061 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is a truck load of fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:33:27 AM
I've been suffering with call drops, slow data speeds, little to no reception (in the middle of perth) and deferred messages. I went to my local vodafone store to try and sort things out but was told because I've only made one formal complaint, which was about my billing, there's basically nothing I can do about it because it's their word against mine...
What ever happened to customer service? I'm disgusted.

2058 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is words cant describe it at 27 Dec 2010 11:33:14 AM
i dont really know where to start, from there call center operators to there hopeless reception and data services, for over 3 months i have spent over 7 hours calling the call center up to get my data services fixed, first of all they said they will get back to me within 72 hours for the tech dept to see what the problems is, 4 days later i called back cause no one got back to me and they told me that someone cancelled the request WTF??? so i had to wait another 72 hours cause i told them to reopen the case, no one got back to me, i went overseas on 27/11/10- 2-12-12 and wanted to use roaming there so i called up 1555 but the guy didnt know what i was talking about and he couldnt help me and said he will call me back asap, but he didnt, so i made another call and the guy helped me, i came back to aust and no one has gotten back to me about the data service so i made another call(note that it takes around 30 mins to get through to someone) i wanted to cancell my contract cause i think they breached the contract by not providing me a service in my contract, so retention person told me she will give me 2 months free access, but i just wanted the data service to be fixed , she said she will call me the next day and tell me whats happening, and guess what !! no phone call, i waited a few days to see if i will get that call but no, so i made another call, waited 60 mins to get thru !!, so i get really angry and they advised me they can give me another 2 more free months acess 2+2=4 months, so i waited and waited till 2 days ago and made another call just to see what the outcome is with my data services and yet they dont recall giving me a total of 4 months free access only 2, so they tranfered me to someother dept and FINALLY someone from australia was on the other side and he made me wait 5 mins and saw that there was a total of 4 months and he told me that there was upgrades in your area, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY DATA WASNT WORKING IT TOOK THEM THIS LONG TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER OF LIES AND MISLEADING INFORMATION and it took someone from australia to get the problem fixed

It's been happening more and more in Sydney's CBD area that I don' receive text messages until a day later, and that's vodafail to vodafail! Stuck on a contract but in five months time I'll be moving on far away from vodafone!

Vodafail also can't seem to stay connected to the 3g network as I'm sure most of the time it's 2g or E for me, not what I signed up for! =/

Extremely poor reception in the centre of Newcastle (Mostly one or two bars of reception and never full), very poor battery life on my new iPhone4, frequent call drop outs and data speeds that are slower than 1998 dial up internet. Thought i would even add that even driving past the Vodafone Towers in Chatswood i didn't even have full reception

2049 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is the worst at 27 Dec 2010 11:31:37 AM
I have 2 contract phones with Vodafone and not only do they always drop out of reception, fail on calls and I swear I get charged for things I was originally told were included in my contract but even trying to get hold of Vodafone is a joke, last time it took 4 days of calling Vodafone to order a new ph, they told me to visit my nearest Vodafone store and when I did they told me to go and call Vodafone again they couldnt help me, the staff promise to call you back .... and never do, they forgot to order my new Blackberry and after calling 2 weeks later to see where it was told me it had never been ordered meanwhile my business was suffering. Vodafone is a joke here in Australia and trying to complain to them leaves with getting automated email replies and no real person to talk too.

2045 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is International FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:30:34 AM
I am not ina mess now! BUT!!! I joined Vodafone in July. I onformed them I needed an account where I could send TEXTS to Sri Lanka, and that there are hundreds per month. I informed them of my fiance's Phone Provider. They said that is not an issue. I got the new Sim Card, alerted all family and friends my new number. Closed my long standing account with Optus, and thought I had found the BEST phone Plan... WRONG!! The Text messages would not go through. I called Vodafone and alerted them. They then told me they do not support my fiancee's network provider, when they assured me they did. I was ANGRY.... I had signed a month by month contract for 12 months. I can't remember what happened next, but the next day I called them again. They said that my fiancee's phone provider WAS the ONLY one the covered, yet the day before I had been told conflicting stories. I was fuming. I told them to shove the SIM card up their ASS and that I would not be paying a cent for any calls I made. I then emailed headoffice and they agreed with my story and cancelled my number, but it still took over a month for them to clear the bill, which was $3-$4 dollars. The network providers we are talking about in Sri Lanka are Airtel and Dialog. I WILL NEVER USE VODAFONE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THEM!!!

Half the time I don't have reception even in areas where I used to be able to get reception, so making calls is a pain and I don't know what messages I am not receving. I keep seeing this 3G thing on my phone which seems to never have any reception. I don't know what it is and I don't remember asking for it? Never used to happen...

Locked in a useless contract for the next 2 years when i can't get any coverage where i live. They failed to tell me this when i wrote my address down. Huge rip off. Can not see how they get away with it. I have complained and was told I had to pay my contract out, when they aren't providing the service i signed up for. Biggest scam artist out there. Maybe we should get a hold of ACA or today tonight then we might see some action as there seems to be alot of us

2036 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Stealers at 27 Dec 2010 11:28:53 AM
I got a Blackberry Storm on a $29 contract for 24 months, then I was offered a $10 on top of the $29 for free internet and phone calls, I thought well why not, so on the 1st June I got a Blackberry Storm paying $39 a month.

On the 10th August I got my first bill after two months, saying I owed $3000 after barley even using the Internet or phone itself, I fought Vodafone for a whole month, finally on the 21st September, Vodafone brought the debt from $3000 to $500, since then I have not paid and single cent, I thought this was odd, since then I have not even touched my phone, and on the 19th November, I got my 2nd Statement and it said I owed $1300, now that I have not touched my phone and they are still charging me, since then they have sent the debt to a debt collector and I am fighting them that I am not going to pay it, but since 3 weeks ago they stopped harassing me and now I realize that Vodafone is scared. I have been fighting this since, the Blackberry Storm is supposed to have the best reception in Townsville, 80% of the time there was no service or it was very bad.

I will go to court to shut Vodafone down it is about time people stood up to these low life scum.

Can't believe you would all whinge about Vodafone !! Trying to get a "so called" great deal but it is obvious to anyone that Vodafone does NOT have the capability of Telstra and the range so I guess you get what you pay for. Change telcos and see the great coverage you will get with Telstra. I wouldn't use Vodafone if you paid me, I want good coverage.

The biggest con I have ever been scammed into is changing to Vodafone.
Costs me more because of all the dropouts!
Discount or no discount, if a carrier promises a service and cannot deliver, they should be up front about how crappy the coverage is!
Nothings changed since 1995....:(

I have two services with this abismal company, one is a wirless broad band, that now has been replaced by another provder as i can only get decent recption on my roof or in wollongong. I also have an iphone with them and again no service at home, with the exception of my roof. Luckily i have a work mobile on telstra. I have spoken to vodafone and they advised that i should realise that the service is subject to avaliability. Which is interesting because i go to tassie reguarly to visit family and asked specifically will i get full coverage. To which they replied yes. this is because we have the dishes to run the same capacity as telstra. WHAT A CROCK, i had to use my work mobile on leave and had to pay for it.
27 Dec 2010 12:00:36 PM: oh and did i mention that when i signed up for my wirless internet that i was promised 6GB 2GB bonus but for 3 months i was told i had it but then they charged me over limit fees when i used 7 GB. Called and took them another months to fix it and then they decided that they would refund me everything. Luckily i was on month to month for wirless and have now pulled the pin but they still charged me for the last month even though i cancelled on the 10th when my billing starts on the 14th. Oh thats my fault so im still having to pay. TIO got the complaint. also got the complaint about the fact im sitting at home with a telstra mobile getting full service and voda with 1 bar.

yup same as everyone else, Im starting to get right jack of Vodafone...Im not that far from Melb CBD and th reception I get is atrocious...and with the free talk time to other voda's thats a load....I have 85hrs built up yet when I try to use it, it disconnects my calls after 15mins making me use more credit to ring again, and after 15 mins it does it again..WTF???
I am seriously considering ditching this company, I joined up with my children so they can call me with their free talk time, and already 2 of my kids have opted for another comapny and have had no problems...think its time to follow them.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THREE IS BOUGHT OVER BY VODAFONE. IF THAT IS TRUE THEN I KNOW WHY THREE NETWORK IS ALWAYS A NO SERVICE ZONE. WHEN VODAFONE DOESNOT HAVE ENOUGH INFRASTRUCTURE THEN WHY DID THEY BUY THREE. THEY WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CATER VODAFONE NETWORK CUSTOMERS. HOW CAN THEY COPE WITH ADDED THREE CUSTOMERS. I OWN BUSINESS AND HAVE FOUND REALLY HARD TO MAKE BUSINESS CALLS AS ALL I SEE IS "NO SERVICE" ON MY PHONE.
27 Dec 2010 11:33:47 AM: it was actually a merger of the two companies. Have you tried reboting your phone or even doing a sim swap
27 Dec 2010 12:34:43 PM: 3 and Vodafone are owned by the same company but at this point of time are still two seperate intities.. Kind of like Coles Super Markets and Kmarts, they are both owned by coles but are still two different companies. However, 3 and Vodafone will be eventually the same thing.

I purchased a new 3g phone on a plan following promised greatly improved reception in my area. I live in Bucca (Near Bundaberg) In Queensland. To demonstrate the improveed coverage the sales person showed me the "pink" area on the map which indicated full coverage. The "pink" area completely surrounded where i live for at least 30 kilometers in every direction. When i received the phone I found it to be no different to my old phone which was also a Vodaphone. Several futile attempts to have anything done about by Vodaphone have left me with an expensve alarm clock. I will never ever buy Vodaphone again. If you want to contact me ozedave_2@hotmail.com.

I heard about this site on the radio this morning - reading through I see so many people experiencing the exact same problems I have - I have been with Vodafone for 3 years but in the last 5 month it has been a disaster - constant drop outs of calls, network connection errors, service not available errors - I thought is was my handset so after a long process eventually they sent "for repair" which has changed nothing. I am trying to run a small business but I get no reception or constant drop outs so it is a huge problem for me - go to the store & even they put you on hold to the customer service site for who knows how long - the result - nothing but frustration...

My phone switched itself off every time I entered my flat in McDonald Street, Potts Point, because of zero reception. Bought a new battery for the phone (at the Vodophone store!) because they told me that might help. Then I learned that Vodophone reception was zero in the entire street, not just indoors but also outdoors. Some improvements over the last weeks, I am able to make the occasional call, but call quality still not close to acceptable.
