26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

7137 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Vodafai at 28 Dec 2010 05:38:42 PM
At last, someone has thought of a way to make vodafail & 3 accountable. Having been with 3 for two years prior and having very few problems, I signed myself and my two children up with them for another 2 year contract. Shortly after the problems began!! Constant dropping out and no coverage. We could not use our phones in our own home. When I phoned them they were more than willing to swap me over to vodafail. to start a new 2 year contract. (we were already 4 months onto our contracts) They claimed the coverage for vodafail was better in our Area. thank god we didn't take up the offer. Now we just have to spend the next 18months waiting out our contracts.

7096 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is criminal at 28 Dec 2010 05:26:17 PM
About 4 years ago I bought a laptop modem device from Vodafone and signed up for the Internet with them. I hardly used it since it worked for few minutes then dropped out. I returned to the shop where I made the purchase (Forest Hill Chase, Melbourne), but was told I had to phone Vodofone for assistance.

After the 5th time of waiting for over half an hour on the phone I gave up and stopped paying the $25 monthly account. I wrote to them demanding that I be released from the contract but never had a reply.

8 months later I was contacted by a debt collector demanding $200 plus costs which I refused to pay so they put it on my credit record. They continued harrassing me for over a year.

It then went quiet until the present.

This month I was contacted by another debt collector who said they had "bought the debt" from Vodafone . I refused payment again.

What annoys me is that the credit record companies accept the word this criminal organisation but refuse to remove the blight against my name, even though I have told them that I dispute the $200 claim.

I am struggling to get a decent connectivity. My prepaid USB mobile broadband drops out in less than 10 minutes. 50% of the time, reconnection is not even possible. I had a dialup account with Pacnet until two years ago - I had no issues. Only a bit slow. Now my Vodafone broadband drops down to speeds less than a 56K modem. What a disgrace! disgrace!! disgrace!! and nothing but disgrace!!!

I rang vodafone 6 months ago to cancel my late husbands phone account. They advised me to fax them a copy of the death certificate and it would immediatley be cancelled. When I received the next bill in the mail, I called again. They advised they hadn't received the paperwork and to please send it again and promised to call me back to confirm they had received it. Well, this happended 2 more times. I am still receiving the bills and warning notices threatening legal action. How many times do they want me to ring up and goes over the heart wrenching story of my husband dying and trying to cancel the account??? Where are their manors, their hearts and their proffessionalism.

7058 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VERY at 28 Dec 2010 05:19:33 PM
I have been trying to upgrade My phone and Vodafone have been out of stock of the phone I want. Iphone4. I am currently using another phone and the battery life dies after only a few hours. As I am a Supervisor for an airline I NEED to have reliable phone. I have been waiting for an upgrade IPHONE 4 for months, going into stores all over Sydney to be told they are always out of stock. I was told last week they are no longer doing upgrades in store but through customer care. I ordered the phone 2 weeks ago. I bit the bullet and ordered a new contract 2 days ago. with my partner also needing a phone I bought a new phone for myself and expect to give the upgrade which is ordered to my partner. I tried to port the number yesterday at the store (EASTGARDENS NSW) and they told me this had to be done with customer care. I rang yesterday afternoon around 4, and was initially told this was not possible and to go back to the store. I was also told that my old SIM number for XXXXXXXXXX could not be ported to the NEW SIM (MICROSIM) as they could not do this why the account was in upgrade and waiting for the new IPHONE. I spent approx 4 hours yesterday being transferred between the activation team, customer care and accounts DEPT.

I was promised a call back today to resolve this. I had not received a call back by 1pm (28/12/10) so I rang Vodafone. Again I was transferred between depts, after a few hours spoke to a gentleman who told me to break the silicon of the old sim card, and just insert the chip into the IPHONE4 and this would allow me to at least use the old phone. I did this and it worked.

I also tried to PORT my partners number to my old account (with his number and also a vodafone account. which I was told was done. This is yet to be done.

I am currenytly on hold to customer care, and been waiting 2 hours on hold. Which I find totally unacceptable. Then to be told the porting dept is closed. And HUNG UP ON WTF.

I want to return the phone I purchased yesterday, cancel the upgrade and port the numbers to TELSTRA. I cannot and WILL not accept that I have to continually ring vodafone to fix this issue, as explained I work for an airline as does my partner and we are away from home and under work requirements need access to a reliable service using a reliable handset. We are both on $79+ plans.

28 Dec 2010 05:18:33 PM: If you are paying for insurance and your phone was stolen then call Vodafone Insurance on : 1800 808 743. State your name, mobile number and IMEI of the handset (this is on0the box your phone came in and also on your contract). They will give you a claim number. Head into store with that claim number and voila you'll have a new phone in approx 7-10 days. Oh, with theft, you will need a police report as well. Standard stuff buddy... can't just cancel a contract cos your phone was stolen..

I am an anonynmous employee of Vodafone. I currently work at a Vodafone store where i can say i genuinley feel our customers pain. I am backing this website 100% and glad to finally see that some serious action has been taken against my employer. As an employee at a store who tries to deliever the best service with every customer i encounter, i feel we are also treated poorly and given tools which can be proven at sometimes to be 'hopeless'. We as frontline staff are also directed to use the general cutomer care number 1300 650 410 which even staff wait 2hrs at times! There is another number we are able to use however it can also endure a painful wait for our customer from 20mins-1hr waits often only to be transffered back to our general customer care and most of the time 'getting nowhere' till the customer gives up and leaves the store, then an email is forwarded on, there is no simple/immediate resolution. It is extremely embarrassing and frustrating when you are an employee and one of those told to back your compamny by the company when you feel they are not even backing their employess with the right tools and expecting employess to deliver great customer service. We experience alot of frustration and anger from customer which i can totally empathise with. It can be very mentally challenging and many times have you in tears. As an employee agree with the customer but feel i have no tools, support, genuineness and most importantly trust from vodafone to deliver a great service eg. as a manager i have to call to get credits on accounts, call for repairs that have been misplaced, call for approval on pretty much any action which includes helping the customer. This includes network isses which i feel as an employee are not taken seriously by our care team. Vodafone need to get their act together, give employees and customers the power to resolve issue immedialey over the phone and store contact. IT IS AN OUTRAGE that i as an employee has to agree with Adam. Go Adam!!
28 Dec 2010 05:17:20 PM: Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to the Vodafail team coming from an employee. We feel your pain as well and have tried to communicate to the customers here that it is not the store employee's fault. We hope the situation could be resolved soon and you can receive some more support from the company. - Vodafail Team
28 Dec 2010 08:47:07 PM: you should NOT be in customer service, my honest suggestion is that you change your profession. Things cannot also be solved with a cick of the fingers and to make it sound like your company is a complete mess is grossly incorrect a poor worker blames his tools, There is a reason why this saying has been around for so long. it sounds like you are completely dishonest to customers. i would like to see proof that the higher management told you to lie to customers as this is what you seem to be inciting. You should make it your goal, your mission to record every customer complaint and ensure that you reply to every single customer yourself directly!!, The fact is as a vodafone manager you have failed to communicate the problems effectively and have waited to the excuse my language "shite has hit the fan" and are now blaming higher management and try to make yourself the victim. i know i might sound harsh but just admit that you are as much to blame if you were doing your job and the others that hold the same role did too this website would NOT exist
29 Dec 2010 12:20:05 AM: ^^ did you not read his post? is it his fault that the network is struggling to cope? do you want this store manager to climb the local voda tower and fix it while you wait in store? fuck, you are a retard.

I am not writing on their behalf, but I encourage you to think about it. Thank you for posting- I hope that it discourages unhappy customers from lashing out at the only VF people they can contact. You don't have the ability,in store, to "drop out".Have you considered Stress leave? Maybe, almost joking, a class action by store employees against VF, for forcing you to bear the brunt of inaction higher up in VF?

6917 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Words cannot describe at 28 Dec 2010 05:00:32 PM
I've been a vodafone user for 4+ years and have never been able to get a simple answer from them. I've had calls dropping out, sms/pic msg's coming to me a week late.

Other problems I'm facing is that my online account is never updated by Vodafone (I pay on time every time) therefore I get calls/letters from them stating that I owe them money even though it has been paid.

Another one which I'm sure everyone should and would want to hear is that for about 8 months I had another bill being sent to me. What had happened Vodafone (employee I assume) put someone else's mobile number against my name and they raked up over $3000 worth of calls against me. I fought with them for this period and after threatening letters that they will take me to court found out that it was a fraudulent account.

I'm pissing off with them and going back to telstra.

6859 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Shocking!! at 28 Dec 2010 04:56:59 PM
I was sent picture messages on the 25 December and again on 26 December. I did not receive these messages until 5am on 28 December.

I called Vodafone about a week ago to reset my 'online' account, I waited an hour, the couldn't resolve my problem and asked if they could call me back, I instead requested a text msg to confirm the problem was resolved. I was asked if they could help me with anything else, I said yes, I wanted to know how much it would cost to cancel my account. I was then transferred to another 'department' and YES, I was on hold again, so I gave up and hung up!

I have also had periods of now network coverage in the Sydney CBD which resulted in my calls going directly to Voicemail.

So over it!

6761 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Money left on my Account/ Balance? at 28 Dec 2010 04:22:19 PM
I have a cap plan. Why is it not possible to receive an accurate account balance? Every month it is a guess how much money is left to use! If I would have a pre-paid SIM, than it would not work when the amount of money is used. Why can Vodafone not make a signal that tells us; the monthly money is used. Or send a SMS for every $10.00 used over the cap plan. In time, not days/ weeks later!

Prior to purchasing a vodaphone wireless internet account, they asked for my postcode which I gave them and said that my coverage is very very good.
However when I connect to vodaphones network, I get ONE bar of reception and the download speed is appalling!!

Trying to contact vodaphone helpdesk support is a waste of time. I bought $100 which is 6GB and in one week my access had expired and I finally got a hold
of them on the phone and I sought an explanation as to why my 6GB was gone in
one week - and Vodaphone said to me in a Indian accent 'it must of been something running in the background'..to which I replied 'like What?'.

Realising now that Vodaphone deliberately misrepresented themselves to me upon a quick sale of their product, I am going back to Telstra, at least there connectivity is stable and I get FOUR bars of reception.

I want my money back Vodaphone!

6697 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is complete fail at 28 Dec 2010 03:27:02 PM
I ported my phone number from Vodafone to Optus June 2009 as i no longer had a contract with Vodafone and couldn't stand them. Since that time I have received both paper and electronic 'bills' stating that my bill is due and that I'm actually 29 cents in credit. I have wasted my own time no less than 3 times now ringing, being put on hold, asking to speak to a supervisor etc to get them to delete me from their files. The Voda staff ALL read back to me what is written in my file about the last time I rang and what i asked. Every time I am ASSURED that I will be deleted from their files yet on the 23rd December 2010 I get yet another text message 'alert' saying "your Vodafone bill for account XXXXXXXXX is now available. A total of $-0.29 is due on 12th Jan. Visit online at myvodafone.com.au to view your bill". Surely it is illegal for Vodafone to retain me as an unwilling customer? Surely they must, by law remove me from their accounts? Especially as I have asked time and time again for them to do so?

1stly they misrepresented the dell deal to my 72yo grandfather who was told it was FREE, and seeing as he needed internet he tried to listen, signed a contract for 24 mths in which the dell mini 10 was supposedly free, which he still has in plastic ( he used a dongle on a desktop) and a 6gb 3g plan as ADSL is NOT available in his area....6-7 mths into the contract he gets SLAMMED with a bill for $300+ in excess usage when he would at most use the net for 2 - 3 times a month for 1 - 2 hrs at a time, this is When and IF he CAN get service. Being 70+ and having limited pc knowledge i have his windows account as a user not admin and he CANNOT install programs, this keeps my maintainance of his pc down. and Prevents P2P or malware , virii etc...now i phoned vodafone re the charges and they say that they apply....This is his Second Contract and THEY TRIED THIS BULLSHIT ON THE OTHER ONE ALSO! At approx the same time through the contract.... I SMELL SOMETHING FISHY, and it looks like its coming from VODAFONES WAY! I will now complain to the TIO for them selling a contracted item on finance to a NON english speaking elderly gent who has NO technology understanding let alone a grasp of english. Admittedly he signed it, but he was not aware of what he was signing and was not in a position to be able to make a reasonable decision, SHAME ON YOU VODAFONE for ripping off pensioners.

6627 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely Fail at 28 Dec 2010 02:12:36 PM
I used to be signed up with a plan. They over charged me every month and in one week I had enough so I paid over $600 in one week because the were telling me I was late on my payments. I paid my bill at the post office and it didn't go through to them till two days later which is not my problem.

They then sent my account to a debt collection agency which were very rude and I had to pay them an excess of $2000 just to pay the contract out which gave me a bad credit rating at the time.

Vodafone is unacceptable. My pre-paid account cuts out all the time during phone calls and I never have reception, I actually have to turn my phone off and on just to get reception.

Also when trying to contact Vodafone about my plan and bills I got transferred about 15 times and not to sound racist in anyway they were all of Indian nationality and did not communicate well at all or help me with my problems.

Bottom line is every chance I get I bad mouth Vodafone as a company and suggest to all my family and friends to not sign up with them. They have gone too far and need to be punished!!!!!

Where does one start.. when I first went with vodafone 3yrs ago,my mobile broadband speed was fast and on 3G and now is considerbly slow and always on GPRS and EDGE - dial up was quicker! Next my new moden kept crashing, two days on the phone with customer service and going to my local vodafone ( they didn't want to know/help me, and I originally signed up with them)Everybody I contacted with vodafone kept passing it off to the next person, and to top it off I got charged $200 for a $39 plan, and another day on the phone with them telling me I went over my 4GBs until they FINALLY said they were in error (never direct debit)and to finish my rant I spent hours on the phone with customer service today trying to log onto my vodafone account so I can pay the bloodly bill. Can't wait for my contract to finish, going elsewhere.

6582 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EPIC WOEFUL FAIL!!!! at 28 Dec 2010 01:27:24 PM
I was a loyal Vodafone customer for six awful years. Fortunately my partner and I have moved from Vodafone to Optus in the past month- a great, joyful move!

My partner has had numerous problems with un-locking an iphone when moving to Optus. Vodafone refused to un-lock the phone, citing the old "we can't do it in store, you need to call customer service". Then calling customer service with them saying it needs to be done in store, resulting in Vodafone not un-locking the phone.
I was also told by Vodafone that they would charge me a $50 fee for moving my number over to another network, it was moved over by Optus and no fee was charged.

There were various reasons for my move. For starters, most of the time I had no reception at my house in my inner city suburb in Canberra. Ridiculous. Often I did not receive phone calls or texts.
I also experienced the infamous 'drop outs' during the majority of all phone calls. I found that after it dropped out twice, there was no chance of making receiving any calls at all.

As well as a terrible network, Vodafone's customer service matched it. As my pre-paid sim had been purchased years ago by my Dad, hence the account was in his name, when my Dad called customer service to change the account to my name and give permission to do so, he was told this could only be done in store. When visiting a store, and speaking to a manager, we were told there is nothing they could do and we would need to call customer service. After calling customer service for the second time, we were told the same thing again.

When I complained to the manager in-store, I was told that Vodafones stores and their online customer service are separate and that there is no cross-over between the two....
Upon visiting another vodafone store and speaking with a junior staff member, he changed the account to my name and told me stores can perform this process, they just prefer not to.

I also received stellar service when enabling global roaming on my vodafone account when visiting Europe in 2008. After telling a Vodafone rep all the countries I was visiting and asking if I would have service in each country, I was told I wouldn't have a problem having service in any of the countries. I had service in half the countries I was in. There re-assurance was not helpful. If I had known this in in the first place I could have made alternative arrangements.

In short, Vodafone suck and have done so for some time.

6573 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Double Charge at 28 Dec 2010 01:22:49 PM
In September 2010 I recharged my prepaid as usual and mid-recharge it dropped out and reconnected a couple of seconds later with a "your recharge was successful" - it certainly was for Vodafone - they double charge me within 2 seconds of each other - it took me 8 calls to India and four emails asking to speak to someone whom I could understand + explaining what had happened each time and that I could not have possible logged on and recharged withing 2 second and finally threatening to go to the Dept Fair Trading = three months to get the money reimbursed into my account.

When ever I send an SMS it takes two to three hours before it is delivered if it is at all.

Seriously thinking of moving on.

6551 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SERVICE at 28 Dec 2010 01:03:53 PM
Ive been with vodafone since may 2010 i regret switching from optus to vodafone because:
- Poor customer service
- Long wait to get through to Customer Care
- Calls Drop Out
- Messages delayed (sending & receiving)
- UNCLEAR charges!!
- NO BLOODY RECEPTION ANYWHEREEEEEE ONE MINUTE YOU HAVE SERVICE THE NEXT THERES NON FOR HOURS!!

I was sent out a bill for 90 dollars for the month of may paid the bill on time than my service was disconnected in November as 40 dollars was apparently overdue.. Not knowing what this 40 dollars was for i called customer care (waited 3 hours to get through to someone) and i was informed that someone had mistakenly paid 40 dollars on my account and that they sent me a bill for the wrong amount and that they had transferred the 40 dollars to the person who "accidentally" made the payment on my bill.. But i was not notified of this until i contacted them in regards to my service been cut off which was 6 months later!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! how can someone "accidentally" make a payment on my bill when i have my own account number and personal details and security code!!

THANKS FOR THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SERVICE I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY NOR WILL I BE RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.. CANT WAIT TILL MY CONTRACT IS FINISHED (2012) =( SO THAT I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH VODAFONE EVER AGAIN..

I have a mobile broadband account with 3. Ever since they began sharing the network with Vodafone I have gone from full HSPA signal to 3G with one single bar of reception. Data speeds are unusable, plus their usage meter is innacurate so I am charged for excess data usage every month. Customer service varies between rude and non-existent.

I am IN Toora Vic, No coverage for 40km great, went on holiday no phone or net coverage, had to buy Dodo prepaid so I can keep in touch with my business.
I am from adelaide, Calls drop out all the time, and costs me to re call, I had to up grade to unlimited, Now I see why and I ask why should I have to pay for the extra costs of the extra calls due to their drop outs.

They even Billed me 3 months later for a mistake they made but they could not explain why they did it, It cost me hours and phone calls even going into a service centre to get no answers, They committed fraud by charging my account for there mistake with out seeking my permission first, they seem to be cheaper but due to the extra calls you need to make and the lack of coverage, I believe they are more expensive and not worth dealing with at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6520 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VODAFONE IS ABSOLUTE CRAP! at 28 Dec 2010 12:41:38 PM
I signed up for a Vodafone mobile broadband plan as I discontinued a dial up service (which was working well) with another carrier. I thought cool, they explained that the coverage in my area was excellent (Eastern Subs of Sydney), no problem- i'll take it.
Soon after receiving the modem and sim card, which was a hassle in itself as I ordered it over the phone, i began to have problems with the service just stalling and eventually disconnecting, most times whilst doing important transactions online, or just basically sending an email.
Contacted them they said it was a problem with the modem, so, I had to post them the modem and after about 3 weeks I got another modem sent to me. I couldnt pick it up from a store as the account was created over the phone.
Long story made short- in the end the same thing was happenning. I had to eventually pay out my contract to get rid of them to go with another carrier which at this stage is performing very reliably. VODAFONE STINKS!!!

I recently upgraded in October to new plans with VHA after being told that they could beat the offer i had with Optus. One week after getting the phones i started getting 'failed network connection' whilst trying to get online with my new android. Over the next 2 months i missed calls, would not get voicemail messages for a week and even had my internet on the phone disconnected by VHA. I called and was told that the issue was with my phone and that nothing could be done. I had to call back to be told that my internet connection was cancelled by my own phone WHAT THE!!! The worst was i missed a call from my bank that caused major issues with my realestate, landlord and the poor girl at the bank who did leave a message that i did not get for a week. Did i get an apology by VHA? No what i got was not our fault. In the end i had to make a TIO complaint. The first offer was yes you do have a congestion issue in your area of Point Cook and we can see you have had drooped call. What we can offer is for you to move over from Three to Vodafone. When i refused this offer did they advise that i could go to any carrier i wanted just send back the phones. This i have gladly done. It did take an hour long phone call to get my account number so i could port. Really... customer service do not have all my details when i first call. The appalling service and a company going to market with plans that do nothing but cause congestion needs to be taken to task. Thank you for this website, i just wish i new about it 4 weeks ago.
28 Dec 2010 12:38:49 PM: Am amazed at the number of people suffering at Vodapain's hands too. Watch them on New Year's Eve too - all our messages got sent twice last year - nice little profit maker for them. What a disreputable company. I'll quite happily join the action against them.

6454 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is completely incompetent at 28 Dec 2010 11:41:57 AM
I have been with vodafone on a plan for approximately 6 months or so. Prior to that i was prepaid for several years. Since i have been on the plan i have had several problems with vodafone. The problems were, my phone started freezing and reseting itself within the first two weeks, I went to the vodafone shop to fix the problem. Naturally ide assume that it would have been replaced due the fact that it was two weeks old, but the shop attendant told me he would give me a new simcard and i should downlaod the new software, if that didnt fix the problem then i should take it to one of there repairers . I downloaded the software and it didnt fix it. I didnt send it to the repairer because i figured it wouldn't get fixed due to the fact that it started doing it when it was just 2 weeks old. Ive just gotten used to it.

My bill was supposed to be emailed to me every month from the start of the contract. I did not recieve a bill for a couple of months and then recieved an automated call saying that vodafone was cutting of my service so i went back to the store again and apparently it was not set up correctly. The shop attendant then aparently set it up and said I should have an email from them when i get home to confirm it. A week later it came through. Then for afew months, other than my crap phone which also drops out of reception for no reason (if i turn it off and on it gets reception again) things were reasonable.

Then two months ago I paid a bill at the post office, i thought i had lost my reciept and the next bill i recieved stated that i had not payed the last. So believing i had no reciept or no proof or payment i paid the bill for the last month and that month. I then kept that reciept and surprise surprise the next month or this months bill stated i had not payed last months.

I left work an hour early the other week to make it to the vodafone store to sort this out. The shop attendant i was talking to looked up the information and said the billing system is only about 60% accurate most of the time. He then proceeded to explain that my bills had been paid and that i owed only $1.15. He then revised it treating me like an idiot asking me repeatedly if i understood how it worked. The he stated that again that i had to pay $1.15 to which i said how? Because you cant pay part of a bill at the post office. Leaving me no option and not helping me at all i left. I then paid it online at the vodafone website to which im being charged a handling fee due to vodafones incompetence.

Also the internet on my phone doesnt work very well at all, most of the time it just times out or has no rception.

6443 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst. Network. Ever!!! at 28 Dec 2010 11:31:56 AM
After being a loyal vodafone customer for many years, i have finally "had enough" with the constant call drop outs, lack of reception, deylayed sms and mms (if i got them at all that is) and in general very very poor customer service (call centre)
So i have gone to another major network now, and am much happier with them, although when i had my number ported from vodafone to the new network, 4days later i recieved a letter from a debt collector with a 72hr demand for $400, thanks vodafone...

Thats just the begining, i also had mobile broardband with vodafone, again had very very limited reception, the connection would constantly drop out, very slow to load pages etc so once my 2year contract was up (i still used it month to month) i decided to cancel my account as i couldnt use the service as desired and wasnt happy paying for something i cant use, so on the phone i got to cancel, after speaking to "lara" and sitting on hold for 45mins i get told that the department i would need to speak to has just closed, so the lady on the phone took my details and claimed she would arrange a call back the next day, well late afternoon the next day and still no call back i get back on the phone, 58mins on hold (i timed it) i speak to someone, telling them im not happy with the service an my contract was up and to cancel the account, i was then placed on hold for a few seconds and was then disconnected!!! I couldnt believe it, i got straight back on the phone and after another 45min wait i spoke to someone, who tried and tried and tried to talk me out of ending my service, eventually they did cancel the service and made the sim card from my broardband stick a prepaid mobile phone sim card and put $20 credit on it as a "good will gusture"

Anothe quick rant about the call centre wich the tellco uses, i personally found it very very hard to understand most of the operators due to very thick accents.

Im so glad im no longer a customer of vodafone and would never go back or recomend it to anyone!

6437 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is AN ABSOLUTE JOKE FOR A MAJOR TELCO!! at 28 Dec 2010 11:23:43 AM
Left Vodafone in 04' due to incorrect billings, hopeless customer service and no support for queries. Returned in October 2010 due to the amount of family/relatives/friends and general contacts who are with them, also due to having my father becoming ill in hospital so i joined a $49 cap with a Sony Ericsson X10i. Had no support from Vodafone in regards to the 3G network always operating in the background of my phone (had not downloaded any apps to operate in the background) but incurred a bill in excess of $400 due to data use. To add insult to injury i have sent my handset in twice for faults such as turning off by itself, not charging off a car charger (tested in various vehicles), the 3G Network operating constantly when not needed and the usual freezing. I received the handset yesterday only to be told the same thing had been carried out to rectify the issues "we've updated to android 2.1"....and surprise surprise, the same faults are now still present in the handset!

6431 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks at 28 Dec 2010 11:18:55 AM
I recently purchased a HTC legend through Vodafone - 24 month contract with $50 credit and 1.2 GB data for first 12 months with 200 MB after. The data allowance on my plan appears as 200 MB which hasn't been fixed after calling them twice and waiting online for about 50 mins every time. They had also charged me incorrect amounts on my bill (which they have now reversed).

The operators on the phone have no clue of what they need to do. For every question I was put on hold for 15 mins and they would come back and try to handball by saying call the data management department.

I am regretting moving away from three just cos of a better deal with Vodafone.
In summary "Vodafone cannot be trusted and I would give their service a minus 3.

WE recently swopped because they offered a good deal and said they owned 3 (who we were with previously and had no problems with) so have both signed up new contracts which stated $14.50 a month for the first 12 months. I just had my first bill after two weeks - $92.00. I can't get through to customer care for hours, when I do they say they're fixed it and they haven't, and they're just taking it from my account and NOT DOING ANYTHING! I feel so helpless.

I have had phone calls constantly dropping out after a few minutes over the last 3-4 months, out of character billing (ie. consistantly around $80, then all of a sudden $280 with no difference in usage). Bad reception in Kelmscott and Bertram, plus not getting 3G coverage in many built up areas, such as Perth city when we are there on a weekend. Not receiving paper bills in mail after changing address, which in turn leads to my phone being cut off as we didn't realise we had a high phone bill. (no msg was sent to advise of cut off, otherwise I would have sorted it out). Very disappointed. Will never use vodafone again once I'm out of contract.

My VF supplied Iphone broke down one day so I returned it to the store for warranty repair. After 8 weeks of returning the store every tuesday to get the same rubbish about waiting for parts my phone finaly comes back. The store operators told me that VF would not repair because there was water in the unit. I was a little confused at this because the phone does not go anywhere near water. I asked them if there was anywhere in town that would fix the phone for me and the guy gave me the name of a local dealer. This new guy fixed the phone for $130 and then told me that there was no water in the screen at all and VF should have fixed it for me in the first place. I went back to the VF store to complain and ask for a refund of my $130. Apparantly the dealer who I had been sent to was not on the official list of people who VF deal with so now the warranty is void! While all this was going on, I had not received any communication from VF themselves (i.e. Bills/letters in paper or electronically). I tried to ring them but got seriously bored after an hour on hold. When I finaly got my phone back and tried to use it there was call barring on the unit. After waiting out the hold and talking to Lara for several hours I finally got through to some one who explained to me in broken english that there was an upaid bill of $549 on my account. Even though I explained everything that had happened I still had to pay the bill and I am still suffering call drop outs, bad signal and so on

6284 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pocket WiFi issues at 28 Dec 2010 09:37:30 AM
I have been. Vodafone Pocket WiFi customer for about four months. I signed up for a casual monthly plan and surprisingly, in light of general complaints I see here, performance has been acceptable, but service is another matter. I have had no success whatsoever using My Vodafone to check on usage. Every time I log in I am told my password is incorrect and after three failures, the account is locked, and I have to call the dreaded Lara. While waiting for an hour or more to talk to India, I'm continuously told how customer focussed Vodafone is. Then the password is reset, and I'm ok until the next time I log in.
Then there are the payment arrangements. I chose to pay by direct bank debit, but I'm emailed that my account is overdue, so I email back, only to be advised that I MUST call Lara. I just won't do it.
The silly thing is that for me the service I have is OK, but dealing with Vodafone over simple matters is just too hard.

I signed up on a contract back in feb knowing that I was moving in the next few weeks to another area, I asked if there was service in the new area I was moving to, and was told yes, so I agreed to sign. From the moment I moved to new address, I have had no service or very little, missing important calls both work and family related. In the early stages of this problem, I contact vodafone and was told the issues would be sorted within the next month or so, that was 10 months ago. Still with an un-acceptable level of service I contacted vodafone again in December, 1st call appeox 1hr 12 mins problem un-resolved, 2nd call 1hr 40mins problem still unresolved and cut off during being tranferred, 3rd call 1hr 20 mins problem still un-resolved. I went to vodafone shop where they connected me through to cancellations promptly, cancellations offered me a $20 deduction of my last bill and a free exit when I return the handset. They havent taken into account the calls to there 1300 number as I couldn't use there mobile to access free call. When I asked where they were, as I wanted someone local ( thinking Sydney ) to deal with this issue i was told Mumbai (India), I asked to be transferred to someone local and was told they could not. As a vodafone customer for over 5 years i am thoroughly appalled by Vodafones customer service and network coverage ( both are non exsistent ). Vodafail is a very suiting name for the company and I will with out reserve point potential customers into reading this sites complaints before they sign with on the dotted line, Vodafone you have lost this loyal customer for ever, no matter how good your service may become in the future. I was with Vodafail for over 6 years on prepaid then contract, getting no service, moved from Brisbane to Wide Bay having service when we first moved then got progressively worse, got sick and tired of being on hold, get drop outs while trying to ring them having to go through the process with lara sometime up to ten time before you got to speak with some one, not being able understand them when you finally get through to a human, let alone if you got the right department in the first place, getting transfer to the right department then dropping out and having to start the whole process again, my longest call to nowhere took over 2 hours. Every time you had a problem it would not get resolved, finally contract finish and moved to telstra, i moved 4 phones away from vodafail to telstra, cost a little more however i can actually use my phone. now I have left I get text messages to tell me that my email address to send my bill is not available, [which is a Bigpond email address and is still active] telling me to log on to my account [which I don't have anymore] and change email address, trying to email them is about it is still on going for a month now, receive the bill with a credit of $70+ trying to get it credited to my credit card which use to pay the bill, still waiting for a reply on that one, I am not even with them and still having issues.

my daughter is with 3 since vodafail took over she gets no service from just north of central Brisbane past wide bay previously she got service all the way.

to think that Vodafail forced the government to get rid of the analogue system or they would not bring there digital network in.

6189 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is as useful as used toilet paper at 28 Dec 2010 08:52:56 AM
I only read about this site yesterday - I'm so pleased I'm not alone in my suffering with non mobile service for last 18 months. I'm on an unlimited plan - yeah, unlimited excuses and lack of service!!

I've had 7 replacement Blackberry's in 18 months - even got some from Optus just in case a couldn't believe the luck I was having!!

A typical call scenario example - from Melbourne CBD to home (my Blackberry Bold doesn't even get coverage in my office in Collins Street city!!). Sadly, I can pick the dropout spots and zones in Central Melbourne and East Melbourne - if it wasn't so farcical, we could make a new competition out of this - 1st prize.....Voda Mobile Contract paid out and a free Contract given from Telstra (now THAT's sad)

1. call business owner from car parked in central business district (Queen Street)
2. get the infamous "call failed" and loud beeping noise as call drops off in Market Street. I call back
3. Apologise for call drop off but everyone is used to my mobile calls dropping out (you must be with Vodafone or Three many people say)
4. Call drops off in Spencer Street North Melbourne (sometimes with excitement I see a different fail message "Congestion" - woohoo, this is a different sort of irritating excitement). Wait for 2 km's as reception comes good again. Call back (seeing I'm on "unlimited plan" I supposedly don't wear costs!)
5. Get onto Tulla Freeway...
6. Call drops off beside Moonee Valley - smack bang in the middle of a costly work conversation. Just for something different......I call back when I see the 3G connection (hands free of course Mr Constabulary)
7. Call back - warn them I'm approaching Essendon airport - another "hot zone". Call drops out mid sentence - DAMN, it got me early before Bell Street turnoff!!
8. Wait till Matthews Avenue to call back - should get a good 2 minutes into conversation before I'm talking to myself again....sometimes phone drops off without any sound...so I keep talking to myself not knowing the other end has dropped off!!
9. Melbourne airport.....(I live in Sunbury....lucky I have a landline cause I certainly can't count on mobile here) - yep, bye bye reception......
10. Well you get the gist......it's become quite a topic of conversation with business people and friends who laugh at how comical my mobile experiences are....

The only efficient service operating from Vodafone are from the Accounts Department - "Your account is now due".....

Would gladly add my call records to any action against this now pathetic mobile service provider - can't believe I just called them that!

6170 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:17 AM
Firstly when I was going over my cap they failed to contact me and let me know. So they ended up barring my phone. When they sent me an sms telling me to contact this number from my mobile I couldn't as they had barred my phone. When I call up to complain I get someone from "over seas" who can not understand a complete word I was saying, which pissed me off even more. When my bill had been sorted out I waited on hold to Vodafone for over an hour and got a very rude guy who also I could not understand nor could he speak english very well. He was no help at all and was quite rude. After talking to him for half an hour he told me he would transfer my call over to the billing department. He did so and he put me onto the wrong line. A waste of time on my part.
After sorting it all out in the morning my battery now fails. Doesn't stay charged for very long at all, and I find it hard to get reception. It goes completely out of service in areas it shouldn't be.
Not very happy at all, I will be looking into how much it cost's me to get out of my plan and switching to another phone company.

6161 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is should be shut down at 28 Dec 2010 08:41:14 AM
I have been with Vodaphone for many years and was completely happy with the service. Over the last 18 months however they are just the most disgusting service. Staff are rude, you spend many hours trying to speak with someone. I have been hung up on.

My phone doesn't work, my coverage is crap. I can't get any calls, or I don't receive calls. I get text messages hours after they are sent. I can't pay my bill over the phone, I cannot access my internet account, so I am told to go to the Post Office - would prefer if they fixed it after all I am paying for the service. I have now refused to pay my bill until something is done to my satisfaction...............3 months later................nil contact!!!!

I wanted to reduce my plan as I no longer need the plan I am on. I was told I was contracted to that plan............that's not what I was told when I upgraded and has never been the case before.
28 Dec 2010 08:49:04 AM: might I add. My phone was an on call phone used for emergencies. Guess how many emergencies I missed.

6144 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Data Usage Pricing at 28 Dec 2010 08:28:15 AM
I was on a pay as you go plan with vodafone. Over a 3 day period I was charged for data usage on my phone which I was not aware of. For some reason my phone had downloaded 54 megabytes of data over this 3 day period. To my surprise vodafone had charged me for this data $1,003.00 which I was shocked to find out. I have tried calling there customer service and got the same service, long waiting times. When I finally got through to someone I explained the complaint and why they do not notify there customers of unusual activity which on an account which was th case in my instance as I never use my phone for internet access. I also asked them how they charge people for data access, what the exact rate they use as I think $1,000.00 for 54 megabytes does not look correct. The person I spoke had no clue and said they would call me back. This was over 2 weeks ago and no one has called me from vodafone to explain this. I now have a bill they sent which they expect me to pay and still have had no respone from vodafone to my complaint. I have now cancelled my account with for a number of reasons but will be taking this further.

6099 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst network coverage ever at 28 Dec 2010 08:00:28 AM
i have 2 accounts with vodafone and both always drop out, cant sent messages or anything.
The only way i have been able to get incontact with vodafone was by email, because i tried by phone and no one could help me, i went to vodafone shops and same problem no one can help me.
Finally after a dozen emails back and forth to vodafone they agreed to give me 3 months free.
But still this didnt fix my problem with no network coverage.
I have kep all their emails and i will be planing to take further action about the problem after January 10th , as in my emails it states that everything will be fixed by that date!

6089 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Wanna punch some joker level of fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:57:12 AM
I have a voda pre-paid phone and internet dongle, so will have my bit to say about both.

The dongle: Now what can i say about service here. started off good, and seemed like a good plan, started doing a online course, then a few weeks (september) into it the connection seemed like it would rival dial up for slowest speed ever and got to the point i couldn't even get to do my course material, so i had to defer for the rest of the semester or get a fail grading, unfortunately this happened after the census date (which means now i have to pay for 2 units which i didn't even get to do). I tried calling customer help, which when i eventually got around to being able to talk to them, told me that i was in a bad reception area, total crap as it had been working good before that.

The phone is a different problem where i see if you get told you are getting vodafone to vodafone credits, then you should be able to contact other vodafone users, does that sound right to you? WRONG, after using standard credit, i couldn't contact anyone much less anyone i knew who has a vodafone account. Secondly, is that with txt messaging, sometimes the messages i get aren't coming thru and some messages i send aren't getting to the person i sent them too. i'm not gonna get into describing the shit that has caused as it would take all day to type.
28 Dec 2010 10:02:28 AM: Were you one wireless? A fault may have developed in one of the towers in your area or there may be overselling. When you buy wireless vodafail you are told about coverage - but there is no mention of connectivity or congestion.

For some ISPS there are plans where if you exceed your download you are not chargedmore, they slow your connection. So it is apparent that some ISPS have control over the speed of connection. As a general technical question, if an ISP were to oversell its wireless service, would a deliberate dropping of the speed of connection of customers enable them to keep more people on line? Even though their connection speed was much reduced.

My wife and I became Vodaphone Customers 5 weeks ago,my wife is almost due with our second child and we have a 4 year old autistic son so we needed a decent mobile phone service. When we went to sign the contracts we specifically asked and were shown that we were in a zone that was green representing that we had good service. We live in the Newcastle Region. The frustration we have faced ever since is unbelievable, and to speak to a vodaphone was impossible, I spent over 30 mins waiting for a billing enquiry then a further 90 minutes waiting to speak to someone about our service difficulties, my wife and I were sitting in the same room and we couldn't get service.
when I got the ombudsman involved after several attempts to speak to vodaphone, my wife and I were ready to get out of the contracts, they tried to stall us and took several conversations with various people before they accepted blame and said we could send our handsets back without penalty which was a week ago and my wife checked our accounts last night and they have penalised us for contract termination, once again we are being lied too and will be seeking help from the mobile ombudsman.

6077 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ENGINEERED FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 07:54:13 AM
Same as everybody else. I actually used to work for Vodafone 5 years ago when they were a very progressive, customer orientated organisation with local call centres in Tasmania and a customer'service' ethic. It is embarassing to see what has happened to them, particularly since the merger with Hutchison "3". They have lost focus on the customer, have rushed "half-baked", poorly tested technology into the market-place and hidden behind a wall of bureacracy rather than address each customer's specific issues. This never happened in the past when Vodafone was a "challenger" brand in Australia, eager to offer the best deals, progressive technology and great customer experience. The race to transform into one of the big players (Telstra/Optus)driven by the new Hutchison "3" leadership team, has failed to recognise that you can only get there if you look after your customers and treat them like gold. Prior to this website, I am certain that Vodafone assured themselves that disgruntled individual customers would never be able to bring them into account for their poor performance. It appears that people power is alive and well thanks to the internet where the silent majority now have the most powerful Voice, strong enough to bring this arrogant organisation into account.
28 Dec 2010 08:01:07 AM: Great analysis....this is the root cause of the issues...imo, when this site clicks through 10k complaints..some senior execs from Newbury may be headed to our sunshine if they can get out of Heathrow! I have used the Network around the globe, the local management here are damaging a solid Global brand.

I was originally with 3 and then it got taken over by Vodafone and this was the time I renewed my contract for two years. Since renewing with 3 under the Vodafone header and products I had consistent call drop outs. I could literally have my phone sitting on a table in front of me and watch the bar signals go up and down and then the call would drop out. This was consistent! At the time 3 Vodafone told me I am in a good coverage area. December 2010 I went in to look at finding a new plan to discover that I was now living in a bad coverage area... To this fact I found out that Vodafone was not going to be improving its 3 products anymore thus the coverage was only going to get worse. To this I discovered that they were going to 'migrate' me over to Vodafone in two days time without me knowing! Furthermore, if I wanted to do it that day before my next billing cycle they were going to charge me $45 flat rate for the 2 days + another $45 to have payments in advance + my $45 cap for that month. I could had avoided those fees if I waited 2 days and went in on my time whilst I should be at work or I would had been migrated over on the current plan with no fees. I had been a 3 Vodafone customer for 7 years and I asked them to give me a reason to stay with them.... they replied with, why should you leave? Optus won me over... 3 Vodafone then tried to stop me going to Optus by only discharging me from their network after 2 business days - if they waited a few more hours they would had charged me an extra $69 as it would had entered my new billing period! NEVER going 3 Vodafone AGAIN!

In total I made over 12-13 phone calls to customer care in 3 days... Due to a high number of dropped calls I got to talk to a few operators. Their excuses ranged from something being wrong with my phone to their company merging and that I should understand this because I run a business!!!

Question is does my customer understand that they can't contact me because Vodafone is merging?!

Needless to say Vodafone is still direct debiting my account every month, at will!

Reasons for my frustration: Phone calls dropping, people complaining that they can't reach me, slow internet speed on my mobile broadband and endless wait on customer service. Once you do get through, you find your self talking to a person who apears not to care or not understand what you are talking about.

6039 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is where do I start? at 28 Dec 2010 07:40:05 AM
I had been a faithful customer of "VodaSucks" to the point I had 2 phones and a USB modem with them all on post paid. after not being able to contact my partner who worked all over the country side with his job I became more and more frustrated. As for the USB modem well lets just say if you are running a small business from you home computer do not rely on that. Anyway I rang the call centre only to be out sourced to speak to some one posing as an American to cover the Indian accent (GRRRRRRR) I asked how much it would be to get out of my contract as I was over not being able to speak to my partner due to him never having reception. the Person gave me some "who ha" that the phone should only work perfectly in the billing area????? what the hell is that crap? they claim that they have towers every where yet for some reason conveniently they didnt happen to have one in the area he was staying at the time...or the time before or the time before that. so anyway they told me it would cost a small fortune to get both numbers out of the contract but would look into waving the fee for my partners phone. after telling me this was they case but I would have to pay for my number to be dropped I decided it was better to move on and pay my way out. when I got my last bill surprise surprise I was charged for both.... this story will be continued as I am looking in to getting the whole thing waved.
But wait there is more back to the USB I still had time left on my contract for that when I decided to got with Big pond so I told my mum to give me the $40 per month so my younger sisters could use it. all was goo until one of my sisters mates stole the SIM card out of it. anyway we soon figured this out and let Vodafone know so they could cancel the SIM. how ever they didnt so I got this massive bill for Phone calls made from the SIM. after 2 hours or more on the phone to the Indian call centre I finally go it waved but had to pay for they over expense and to cancel the contract.

Signed up contract 2 months ago (end of October 2010) and:

- Almost no signal in the house.
- 50% of the times calls goes straight to voice mail. My girlfriend had serious arguments with me on this, thinking I turned off my phone. Also missed many important calls from other parties.
- Bills in advance. I am on a $79 iPhone plan and already got billed 3 times (3x$79). Why do they do this? I don't even know how it works!
- Mobile internet is often a disgrace.
- Waited 1 hour on customer service line.
- Could not be bothered to contact them again.

Money much better spent elsewhere.

6022 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Deplorable Service (3G) and Billing at 28 Dec 2010 07:32:25 AM
3G Service (Coverage/Connection): Connection ALWAYS drops out... I always have to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly... time-consuming and very frustrating...

Customer Service: A CALL TO VODAFONE TAKES A WHOLE HOUR!! HOLD TIME TO GET ANYONE IS ALWAYS 20+ MINUTES!! Then you have to wait another 10-20 minutes in order to get the RIGHT someone!! I have problems but don't have the time to sit on the phone 20 minutes to finally get someone!

Billing: I ordered the service in September 2010 and never received a bill. In 3 months, NOTHING... I kept trying to view my statement online, but the feature wasn't working. I wanted to wait for something from Vodafone because I didn't want to pay for a call and sit there for an hour waiting for resolution - I just don't have that kind of time. I had begun to assume that bills came out quarterly UNTIL THE SERVICE WAS DISCONNECTED for seemingly no reason. Then I tried to call for 4 days in a row to find out what was going on and connection to the call center from Adelaide was down... I had assumed that the lack of service was because of a massive network failure. I then got through, after a week, paid the balance I was told over the phone with the late charges waved, to have a bill FINALLY COME THREE WEEKS THAT INCLUDED $50 of LATE FEES!!! I don't agree with it, but I paid it... who would I call and what would it solve?

We now use our i-Phone for internet. My calls to Vodafone customer service have degenerated into shouting matches when the services representative tells me we have excellent coverage. It does not. We now refuse to pay our broadband account and will be happy to see them in court. I have missed important medical appointments from failed voicemail messages that I have not been able to listen to / retrieve.
Takes upto 3-5 days to retrieve messages both voice and text.
I have been kept on hold for upto 1 hour 3 different times in one day regarding a phone bill that I have paid, I have the receipt with a receipt number, but the operator did not want to know that, he wanted to argue I hadn't paid the bill. I am still waiting for a hard copy to be posted to me and prove that I have paid for that bill.
I also find their billing system pathetic; why they have to send it in an email is beyond me.
Service drop out is ridiculous: I have hardly any coverage at all;
The last time I spoke to Vodafone about all my issues, I told them I would be looking to change carrier, he wasn't too fussed - told me to have a nice day. This is not customer service.

Vodafone have been charging me for a contract that ended in April 2010. When I FINALLY got through on their overseas number after 5 attempts and over an hour of waiting. I have written 3 times on their customer service contact email and they agreed to reimburse only the amount the call and the email, even though the email was to follow up why I hadn't been reimbursed. I still haven't been reimbursed and plan to contact WA Commerce Department consumer complaints to follow up formally.

..and I am still being billed by Vodafone!
28 Dec 2010 04:54:55 PM: Stop paying the bill and then you can get your money back if they take you to court.
5 Jan 2011 10:40:54 AM: You should check whether your not paying a bill you appear not to be liable to pay has enabled Vodafone to make a false report to the various credit check databases. It could mean that their mistake is giving you a bad credit rating. And then it could be YOU taking them THEM to court.

5902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 06:29:13 AM
I got a month to month plan with vodafone just to try out the service, for some reason i have never had reception issues what so ever, i have a blackberry however which is only 2G, I think people expect way too much from their phones these days, dead set go back to basics and purchase something more practical! all these wankers out there that want and expect their phones to do so much, they are for calls and txt! not fucking internet and facebook, get a life! REWIND 5 yrs I say!!!

One thing that did shit me however is vodafones billing service, I cancelled that plan months ago and continue to get bills, I had a bill in credit and yet to recieve a cheque for $75

I think vodafone should spend more money on their call centres, network towers, coverage maps rather then V8 supercars, F1 and cricket!

Get your shit together!
28 Dec 2010 06:34:40 AM: My issue IS BASICS! Crap reception, or none between rural towns. Constant call dropouts, having to turn off then on the phone to get voda reception and on it goes. All this is capped by call centres which keep you on hold for 20 mins or more, and have operators that barely understand and certainly rarely sympathise with your problems or issues or fix them completely when they do. I'm only on a basic phone, and all I want is reliable coverage and operation. I don't trust vodafail for my kids phones, they all have telstra NextG and frequently have perfect coverage where I have none.
28 Dec 2010 10:46:20 AM: your not an educated person are you? People are only wanting what they have paid for.if you walked into a shop and asked for a milkshake and were handed a glass of water would you pay for it.Wake up to yourself mate

I went with vodafone about a year ago and after 3 months of having no reception even in the middle of a city of 70000 people and being charged extra for things I had no idea about I tried to cancel my plan, it took me a month but they finally cancelled it...well I thought so until they started taking money off my credit card every month without my permission. I called up again and they said it hadn't been cancelled properly and said they would refund the amounts they had withdrawn. So another 2 months later I still hadn't received a refund so I called up yet again and finally they sent through a refund...for only half what they owed me but I was over being on hold for 2 hours while they 'checked my account' so I left it. Then last week I get a letter saying I owe them money!! I called again and was put on hold for over an hour at which stage I had to hang up. I guess I will just have to try again this week but I HATE VODAFONE!

5887 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Voda network seriously poor and has never delivered as promised. at 28 Dec 2010 06:24:50 AM
As a business user, I left Optus because we lost our local account manager. I switched to Vodafone because a Voda agent (local) promised us we'd always have local support if we had problems. This is has ALWAYS been the case. This has been almost three years. Thanks Red Mercury.

To those complaining about specific phones (particularly iPhones) their poor reception and antennas is well documented. It is your fault. I also chose a phone that delivers poor reception in my home. The good ol' Nokias power on. Suggestion is research the antenna and transmission power.

Now the buckets: the promised expansion to the actual VODA network and increased data speeds have never eventuated. I thought it would be OK as I'm not normally "too far" away from what I believe to be metro or reasonable regional locations.

Data speeds for wireless internet access in Sydney are rarely HSDPA (normally 3G only) and one of the worst locations is the airport (where you really need it). Coverage in Newcastle NSW was hopeless and we're talking one of Australia's largest cities.

What burned me most (as I do travel extensively) was a total lack of coverage (on both phones) at Heathcote in Victoria, a significant regional town in a significant regional area (Bendigo). Heathcote is not much more than 100km from Melbourne, yet reception is only picked around Lancefield.

Forget it if you want to go down the Yorke Peninsula (SA) once you're past Ardrossan. Point to point across the water it is less then 70km so not hard to fire a signal straight across the water. Telstra doesn't seem to have problem getting down there.

Oh, and don't let me forget that Vodafone itself called me to try and poach the business away from their own agent that had supported our business well over the life of our contract. Shame on you vodafone.

We are just deciding what to do now... stay with Voda (for the beaut agent customer service) or take the plunge and go to Telstra for the superior coverage.

But like most here I HATE offshore call centres. So if I can get a local account manager, the decision is likely made.

I signed a two year contract with vodafail for wireless internet. I travel with my job but no Vodapone connectivity in MANY MANY MANY places and none ever here at home. Even where you can connect constantly dropping out. I complained to the fellow I bought the Vodapone plan off. He said that there must have been something wrong with the equipment because Vodaphone had good coverage. Gave me another piece of junk that still doesn't work and guess what....I have another plan but he didn't submit cancellation (with reasons) of the first! I had two bills and no connectivity. They never reimbursed me for the double billing...I was told that I had to get that fixed by their agent, not their problem I was told. The agent out of business and Vodaphone still not interested but eventually they did cancel the first contract. Six months of double payment though. It still doesn't work, no connectivity in many places, and I'm still locked into a contract with Vodapone! Vodafail. Good name for a dud service.

5862 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big time fail! at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:36 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over 10 years and up until 12 months ago had great coverage, good customer service (although getting through to the right area with "Lara" was always painful), no problems with either my mobile or internet connections. Then my internet started having connection problems, dropping out repeatedly and generally not performing to the standard I expected for what I was paying for. I made call after call after call to complain to be told it was my computer, the network was busy, etc - all complete nonsense. After 4 months of calls to fix the problem, I finally reached a gem of a man called Alain who was at a call centre in San Francisco, he listened patiently to my rants, actually apologised and then proceeded to find out what the real problem was and although this took him a few days he called me back when he had gathered the information - in short there were major network problems in my area and I was never going to have good connection. I can honestly say this man was way too good and professional to be working for Vodafone as he actually cared about his customer and had the integrity to be honest. Not one person in any of the Australian call centres could be bothered to help me or provide any honest information about the network other than to lay blame elsewhere (ie. my equipment). Unfortunately it was too little too late and I severed my internet and mobile accounts with them. I still have a prepaid with them (which when the credit runs out this month I am changing to another providor) and I called my parents this morning to tell them about this website as I'd seen it on the news last night and guess what? - that's right - my call didn't connect as the network was busy! What rubbish - it's 8am on Public Holiday, everyone's still asleep!!

Been a vodafone customer for over ten years. The past few years have been frustrating, the past 6 months have been ridiculous! I have never had so many drop outs, no network messages, failed calls, no data, voicemails failing to come through for 12 hours etc etc etc! I have lived in he same area for 6 years. My husband has no trouble with optus. My daughters are with vodafone as well. We are all having the same problems. Calls to off shore help centers don't help either. With suggestions of keeping a log noting when all this happens. After a few hours of constantly writing notes I gave up. I think that all vodafone customers should stop paying their accounts enmasse till vodafone takes this serious. We are being given the run around constantly and yet they ar still raking in the millions! Totally over it and totally regret re signing withbthem!!

5843 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is WHERES MY SAT NAV? at 28 Dec 2010 06:05:47 AM
i got roped in as well. i got a new nokia n97 mini for "free" on a 24
month $29 contract with the first 12 months being half price at $14.50.
my first bill is 41 dollars. i rang them and it said there was a 40
minute wait to speak to someonbe. after 29 minutes, the line went dead.i
was furious!when i got through, they said i hadnt 'activated' the
discount yet, they transferred me to the "discount activation" centre
which was closed. i rang back the next day, and left a message for
someone to call me back. they said i was billed the full rate pro rata
and that my discount would start from the date of THIS call not the date
i started the contract. i got a text message sayinbg my discount starts
from now, so i saved it so i can give it to the ombudsmen when they try
to bill me more than %14.50 next month! the nokia comes with sat nav
which was a selling point for me. too bad the internet connection drops
out or takes to long to load a page, the sat nav is rendered USELESS!!
IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF SIGNING UP WITH VODAFONE, TELL
THEM TO forget it!!

5822 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Appalling at 28 Dec 2010 05:50:08 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer since 2000, and at first was pretty satisfied. Just last year I upgraded my contract to receive a new phone and some discounts with 3G data. Then this year a USB modem to supply data to my new Macbook. When I agreed to terms I was adamantly told I was in an area which received good service and coverage.Again and again I explained I had no land line at home and the USB modem would be my only source of connection for data transfer. I was also lied to about the price I was to be charged for my contract. I negotiated a price for the USB modem, which included a 25% discount. My USB modem arrived in the post, with instruction to phone Vodafone to connect. In order to connect I was instructed I had to verbally agree to the contract which was supplied to me with USB modem pack, which differed to the one I had negotiated over the phone. I was then instructed to agree to the contract provided and it would be rectified once I had done so. When I later inquired to the amount I was paying, and explained my situation, I was told in no uncertain terms that no such discount was, or could have ever been offered. A check of my supposedly recorded con-versation when I first negotiated failed to appear i guess, as I was never granted an explanation I was promised. I swallowed this and moved on. Then in the last six months I have suffered endless connection and data download problems. I have complained and they have filled out trouble tickets. At different times I have been told differing accounts of why my data connection is either slow or not working. Rangining from the construction of the building I am in, which has not changed, the position of my building, which has not changed, that I am in a bad area, or area of low coverage, which is the same area I was in when I first agreed to terms with Vodafone, which worked fine. I live in a one bedroom house with no construction of houses in my immediate area, which was another excuse offered by Vodafone. When trying to discuss problems with customer care, at times being on the phone for over an hour dealing with people who are obviously not interested or understanding of your problems it becomes very frustrating. My latest call to Vodafone on Boxing day must have interupted Xmas celebrations at their call center. During the cheering and applauding in the background my helpful customer care operator would be non responsive, at times not listening to my explanations, then I was being treated as if I was being difficult. I was told that where I live had been experiencing difficulties ? No kidding!!! I was also told that there would be no improvements in the near future and that was that !!!!! Not good enough VODAFONE !

I was a long standing Vodafail customer in NZ. About 3 years ago they changed their system and according to them 'I fell off it'. It took me 4 days, yes, FOUR DAYS of constant telephone attempts before I could speak with an operator. It seems they had two files for my account, which caused chaos, and cause me much stress and disruption as it was a business phone/contract. Eventually they agreed to pay me NZ$200 compensation. I took the money and vowed never ever to have anything to do with them ever again. I'm now in the UK and it seems that Vodafail have invested heavily not on their communication systems, but on designing ways to avoid taxes using off-shore bases. What a horrible horrible outfit so 'well done' to your guys for setting up this site.

Phone drops out all the time, I live in Newcastle, they debited my account twice for the same bill and despite countless emails and phone calls to vodafone over the last three months (in which they said they would rectify the problem I hear nothing) my contract is up shortly and I'll be giving them the shove. Their customer service sucks!

5749 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Atrocious at 28 Dec 2010 04:29:21 AM
I spent two hours, 3 weeks ago, in a Vodafone store in Chatswood with a very helpful customer service guy(thanks Gareth). I was there due to the ongoing appalling level of reception in metro Sydney and the fact that I could no longer send emails from my iPhone 3GS. He spent two hours on the phone with his own fellow Vodafone staff, knowing the very best way to short cut the usual call centre traps and delays and he still got absolutely nowhere!!! I am totally reliant upon my ability to send email from my mobile. I run 3 different business email accounts from that phone and now I can't trust the email service at all. What is most concerning.....and I'm sure is being experienced by many other Vodafone customers is that when you send an email from your mobile, it actually appears in your "Sent Box" as s sent message. The scary thing is that your email NEVER arrives to the intended receiver. You believe you have sent an email, but it NEVER ACTUALLY ARRIVES!!!
This is incredibly frustating and that's before I even get onto the shocking call drop out rate I have been experiencing over the last 3 months. I live in Balmain, 5 minutes from the largest CBD in the country and I can't hold on to a call. I can also identify a minimum of 3 dead spots or drop out zones (guaranteed to fail) in a 5km drive from Balmain to Sydney CBD. How much of a joke can this be??

I have been a very loyal fan of the Vodafone brand for over 15 years, but I am now reaching breaking point. I am doing my best to avoid going to Telstra and would never consider Optus. Vodafone.....your time is running out FAST.

5748 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Biggest Fail at 28 Dec 2010 04:17:51 AM
Vodafone contacted me to say my contract on 2 phones was up for renewel. So I went ahead with this. My phone was meant to be a $79 cap 2 yrs unlimited with a new Iphone mobile. My wifes was meant to be a $49 cap 2 yrs plus $5 for the new galaxy mobile. My wife got the new mobile but vodafone put her on the $79 cap. I got nothing, no new contract no new mobile. Now they are billing me for my wifes $79 plan, rang and said I didnt want that make it the $49 plan. I asked why my new contract hasnt started and why I didnt get the new Iphone. They told me there were no record of the new contract and if you wanted the iphone you would not be able to get it unless you went to the shop and went on a waiting list. They have sent me a bill for over $500.00 in which I refuse to pay. I actually talked to a lady on the Phone about getting these 2 new contracts and phones and she put me on a recording through Vodafone so that it would be legit. They say there is no recording. Dont know what to do.

5725 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolute Pits at 28 Dec 2010 02:36:49 AM
I am now overseas, but I had the worse experience with Vodafone since their stupid merge with 3, ACCC hear this: you should never had approved this. The Australian public hates it. I had been with Vodafone for quite some time now, from the days they had the Metro Wireless plans and then they sold it to Iburst who disappeared and then I am back with Vodafone again since they agressively sold their data services. However I have a voice service with them too.All up I have 3 connections with them, 1 voice and 2 data.
Last month, I remembered I had no data service for a whole 10 days!!!! It was EDGE and then nothing!!
I thought I paid for a 3G service? Their customer service is pathetically overseas, condescendingly gave me a 3rd degree as if I do not know apples from orange after having their service for nearly 3 years now. Even their Australian call centre staff are no better, I had billing issues where they also talk to me in condescending manner and would not offer to help and refused to put me to a manager when I ask for one, The call centre staff (when this was in Australia) told me their managers never ever talk to customers. Also, they never call you back on any issues, the staff told me they are prohibited from making calls to customers as they only take calls coming in so they insist I call them back wait in queue and jam their lines to get updates on my problems. What sort of phone company is this where the staff are not allowed to call the customers to update the customers on a problem they need to solve in the first place? They also made so many errors in my bills for so many months it's not even funny. Also in the past, 2 phones they sent to me were lost in the mail and they refused to believe me even after the courier company told me it was lost, they insist that I wait 4 to 6 weeks to prove that it was truly lost when they could have just called the courier company to ask and they refused but kept challenging me.
Back to the most recent problems, my calls was cut out for no reason in the middle of a conversation and I was thinking it was my phone when indeed now it is a fact that it was Vodafone all this time, very sneaky, never tell the truth. Vodafone, stop lying to people and stop pretending this is something that will go away and stop teaching your staff to be rude to customers when your staff could not handle a problem, which is most of the time; Vodafone's own doing. Also teach your staff never to hang up on a customer. I had calls I made to their call centre, where after waiting and explaining the issues, half way thru, the call was conveniently hung up and they never call you back even though they know how to reach you.

Vodafone, what a load of shit.

5668 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely at 28 Dec 2010 12:40:05 AM
as vodafone customers of 12 years or more, we have found the service to be really disgusting in regards to coverage within country areas and sometimes you do not have to be in a country area, we had spent a week in the town of 1770 for a holiday , as to our disgust we had no service in the 1770 area now this is a coastal town where you would expect phone coverage as optus and telstra had coverage as w had friends that were in the same caravan park and they had reception as we never. even when we had travelled from 1770 to gladstone for a day outing we still had no coverage with our vodafone service if you could call it service, we have even been driving on the sunshine coast in between Nambour and Maroochydore and have been having a conversation and the service would drop out and mind to say that is still doing this to this day.

About two months ago, I paid my account and i had over paid the account by $1700 by the slip of a finger and pushing the wrong number when confirming details via the bpay system, once i had realised what i had done, i ieadiately started to panick I then contacted the Vodafone customer service and what do you know there was no helpful service, what ever happened to keeping the customer happy. I had explained what had happened to the customer service member and they had told me to contact my bank, so I did this immeadiately and my banking institution Replied back to me that once the transaction takes place via bpay that they are not ab;e to stop the transaction from going through and they then proceeded to say to contact Vodafone back and request that the overpayment be reimbursed back to us.

So as you would expect i returned the call back to Vodafone, they then proceeded to tell me that they could not put the money back into the account as it would take 24 - 48 hrs to do this, but before this could happen I would need to fax the vodafone office a copy of our Bank statement to show that the money had definiately had came from our account, I then explained to them that our Bank statements only came every quarter and it was only the beginning of the quarter as it was september and we would not recieve a bank statement for another 2- 3 months and that it was a weekend as it was a friday that i had overpaided the account, but to no avail they were not going to help with this situation. so on an unhappy note to the end of the conversation with the vodafone customer service i explained that i was not happy with theyre explaination as to why they could not pay our money back into our bank account even when i was able to,provide them with all of the relevant banking details as to what account the money had come out of and our vodafone details as to our vodafone account details they still did not budge from the fact that they wanted the bank statement faxed to them.

my next few words with them was that i was going to take it the the Telecommunications ombudsman, of our state, they still did not budge but the next day my husband had recieved a phone call from vodafone and they had said that they would be sending a bank cheque to us for the overpayment and this would take any where from 2 - 5 working business days to acheive even though we had paid it by bpay we still had to wait for the cheque. It then proceeded to be a further 3 weeks before we had recieved the cheque from vodafone.

we then proceeded about 8-10 weeks ago we had requested for our contract to be cancelled as we where not happy with the service provided by vodafone we have a short time left with vodafone on our contracts and we are wishing to have them cancelled, and as you can imagine we are still waiting to hear back from vodafone in regards to our contracts as they were having to do an investigation into our allegations against them as a provider of our service, which there is no service from vodafone if anyone was to ask me about the vodafone service i would be saying to them to really think long and hard about going with the company vodafone before they sign a contract with them. as you can see we have not had a great experience with vodafonein the 10 - 12 years that we have had our 2 mobile phones with them. signed disgruntelled vodafone customer
