26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8916 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a very poor company to work for at 30 Dec 2010 08:33:30 AM
i work for vodafone in store and in all honestly, i think 80% of the customers ive dealt with on a day to day basis over the last 3 months have been complaints. from service to billing to wait times on phones..... its a joke not just for the consumer but for the lowly employee who has to face the consumer while the guys at the top sip there tea and smoke cigars not doing anything about its dwindling support and customer base. GET OFF YOUR ASS VODAFONE AND PREPARE TO GET IT KICKED!
4 Jan 2011 01:56:22 PM: Ohhhh, how I can so sympathised with you!. I used to work as a 1st level call taker in tech support for an ISP that had continual speed problems and we got complaints all the time. Mean while managers and employees above did give a stuff. The company has since gone out of business.

I left before this happened because the writing was on the wall months leading up to this.

8908 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Phone and Wireless Internet at 30 Dec 2010 08:19:15 AM
I was originally with 3 and then switched to Vodaphone for mobile on advice of better coverage, same with my wireless internet. Fail.....constant dropouts with my phone and just as poor connectivity on my month by month internet. The worst of it is getting through to customer service. I was on hold for 3 hours one day and still didn;t get through to an operator. Keep an eye out for AllConnect in March '11, competetive, service with a smile and all in country.

8904 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total fail at 30 Dec 2010 08:15:02 AM
I live in New Farm, Brisbane and frequently find my calls drop out. I use a Blackberry and for a while I would blame friends for the iPhones for the problem - but it seems to be a network issue. At the moment I'm incredibly frustrated because I've had no service for the past few hours. On hold now - 26 minutes later - waiting to find out what the problem is.

8900 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is missing the point at 30 Dec 2010 08:02:20 AM
I am in Sydney CBD, and yet can not make or receive phone calls or messages. All tests on phone have been complete (excessively long and unforgivable wait on hold) and the failure is the service, not the phone (big surprise there VF). An investigation is to be launched with results in 3 business days. It's very handy to have a phone that does not make/receive calls and due to the public holiday, and won't have the ability for a week.

Vodafone reception: FAIL
Vodafone service: FAIL

Lara, the most annoying automated voice: FAIL

Vodafone overall --> FAIL
30 Dec 2010 08:13:35 AM: lmfao i love this post cause the poster has missed the point all together so this post is ---> FAIL

8891 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frequently Frustrating at 30 Dec 2010 07:38:59 AM
We live in the middle of the Gold Coast (500m from the Vodaphone shop and use vodaphone for both mobiles and mobile internet. The internet has been intermittent at best, frequently dropping or not finding a network and the phones have very poor call quality. One evening, after being on hold for 55minutes, the lovely lady in Mumbai apologised and explained that the internet problem was due to the fact that we had purchased an "outdoor" contract which didnt work properly indoors and she would cancel it immediately! We requested she not do that and the next day,we went into the Vodaphone shop 2 minutes down the road (where phone/internet signal is excellent btw) and related the story to them - embarrassment best sums up their response, and they are still unable to explain the poor signal, which continues now. We are lucky as we are not on contract so can change, but are holding out for Vodaphone to fix their network problems (for how much longer is hard to tell).

8888 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 30 Dec 2010 07:20:18 AM
A number of fails. I have paid to have an old Nokia phone unlocked. The details for unlocking didn't work. Spent hours on hold on several occasions. No call backs as had been agreed when I did finally get through. Instead I got an email 4 days later. Still haven't got the phone unlocked. I tried going into a Vodafone store but was just told to call them myself.

The most annoying phone call - I was on hold for 1 & 1/2 hours but when I did get through, the technical department was closed at 8pm. Nobody could help. It was 8.05pm!

Also, I live in Sydney's inner west and the 3G network has be a serious fail for the last few months. Vodafone's comment was that it will be fixed in the New Year.

What needs to be done? An Australian based call center. It's frustrating getting through to the Indian based call centers. I get the feeling the don't quite know what they're doing.

8883 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is totally fail at 30 Dec 2010 07:13:24 AM
I cant believe the issues i have been having with Vodaphone for years let alone especially at the moment - with a family member on life support in sydney & living on the central coast i must rely on my mobile for updates - except i cant hold a connection long enough, & when i do finally get news, it drops out up to 4 times before i give up.. i receive txt msgs up to 6 or more hrs later - sometimes waking me at 2 & 3 in the morning & friends are always having a go at me for not answering my phone OR txt msgs.. & dont even start me on wait times when u have to actually talk to someone - up to 3 hrs!!!

when are we going to receive the service we paid for???
30 Dec 2010 07:14:01 AM: sorry - it should read NSW - im on the Central Coast

8859 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is DISGRACEFUL at 30 Dec 2010 06:18:27 AM
i have all the same complaints myself, husband and son all signed up 5 weeks ago and got the Nokia 8 we have continued dropped calls or unable to make calls no range text messages going through nearly a day later at odd hours waking people the 3 of us have missed out on work after work trying to contact us and can't get through so they ring someone else making us miss out we have younger children at home who are unable to get in contact with us at work we give up trying to use the internet because it is so bad.I have not been picked up from railway station because i can't make call and then i send text but they don't get it I have continually contacted customer service who end up saying i will just put you on hold and of course then they cut me off i have been to the shop and they direct me back to customer service lines the thing that upsets us is we need phones for work and contact with our children whilst working and it is so upsetting that we signed up without knowing there was these problems no one told us and now no one wants to know you after you have signed up. We are new and very unhappy customers and want OUT OF THESE CONTRACTS so we can go to a network that can give us what we pay for SERVICE Shame on VODAFONE we are telling everybody do not go to VODAFONE and the main reason would be the customer service on top of the Network problems which just make you more angry with the situation we feel we have been sucked in to a big mess

8822 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is INTERNETS FAIL OVERSEAS ROAMING FAIL CALL CENTRE FAIL GENERAL FAIL at 30 Dec 2010 12:16:05 AM
Several things:

1. Their signal is crap, it is slow and painfully embarrassing when I am using it in my work environment.

2. It is always difficult to get through to their call centre.... Was on hold for almost an hour and my vodafone coverage was so bad that it cut out. I am sick of going through their bullshit whenever I need to talk to somebody about their service..... NO ONE IS EVER available!

3. Their service is a joke. You go into their stores and ask for help and they refer you to their website. Their website is so useless you call and sit on hold for hours - WHO IN THIS WORLD HAS THIS KIND OF TIME. I run a business and work 3 different jobs - I would be fired for giving such horrendous service.

4. I am currently traveling and FINALLY worked out (after many phone calls and what not) how to get global roaming for 2 weeks of traveling because apparently their rates are just SO GOOD. NOT. I got a bill for OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS 2 days ago! Who are they kidding? I am not paying for this!

I will be organising to get out of my vodafail contract ASAP!

8819 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is infuriating. at 30 Dec 2010 12:05:14 AM
Ive been with Vodafone for 18mths, First time ever on the internet and I have always had slow downloading, constant drop outs, freezing of screen, says its connected when its not. Takes me forever to connect then 3 minutes on and it drops out again. I go into the shopfront and ask for help and they just say its a network problem go onto 2G edge. That doesnt even work. Today I went back to the shop front and all they said was to call the help line. I did and was put on hold for 2 hours. 6.30pm til 8.27pm. Im desperate to do my Uni application which I have now been made late to submit and it will cost me nearly $200 for late entry. Come on Vodafone, I put my trust in you.

8806 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 3/10 rating for honestty at 29 Dec 2010 10:38:18 PM
After signing our Business Contact and delivery of our 2 new iPhone 4...32gb mobile. We were promised, the porting of 1 of our numbers on the 23rd December.

Then after checking, on the 24th December, to see whether they were, going to successfully port the number.....on the 25th December.

The Business customer service representative , informed me that the porting team, do not work on Xmas day.

The first possible date, That i was promised ,that they could port the number was on the Tuesday the 28December.

After waiting, all day on the Tuesday, we decided to ring the customer service, on the Wednesday.

To be informed by the porting team, that the phone number, should of been ported, on the 23rd December on the sign up of the Business arrangement ,The porting team, Said that they would not be able, to port this number , because it was not ported on the activation, of the contract
It was only after, I said that I would cancel the contract, and send the 2 phones back to them.

They then, suggested, that they needed to talk to the supervisor, and put me on hold. When he came back he said yes I will do the port, it will take about 3 hours. 6th later the phone number has still not been ported. Every day losing several phone calls a day. I don't know how long we will have to wait for my number to be ported. May be I may have to send the phones back & cancel the contract
29 Dec 2010 10:44:19 PM: mate, be smart CANCEL NOW , otherwise u will regret it, read all the posts here !!!!!
30 Dec 2010 07:51:59 AM: Good luck if you decide to CANCEL NOW.
My efforts to get any sense from VODAPHONE have just been a waste of time.
Their latest of many no reply emails states they will probably be unable to respond any earlier than 4 January. SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!

8768 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ripping off consumers at 29 Dec 2010 09:06:43 PM
I recently went overseas and had to make 3 phone calls to try to get my cap put on hold for 2 months. I then get back and receive a bill charging me for overseas phone calls i had apparently made and received. Now, I have an iphone so it shows me EVERY call I make... and there had been none since I left the country.
Sat on hold for two lots of 2 hours listening to lovely Lara and then gave up.
I don't care how much I pay for my next plan - it will NOT be with Vodafone.

I have had it all. From dropouts to crossed lines to network busy messages, delayed SMS messages by up to two days and no service in an area that is normally fine. I gave up trying to ring the help line as I don't have time to sit on hold or go around in circles issuing voice commands, sit in a ques for 40 mins then get disconnected and have to go through it all again only to hear we are addressing it? Get it together vodafone. I have been a loyal user for a lot of years with 9 numbers with your company. You have been getting your fair share of income from me, it's time I got my fair share of service.

8744 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is highly failed! at 29 Dec 2010 08:16:31 PM
I have been with vodafone for over two years and had no problems - however a few days ago I signed into a new contract and had nothing but problems - I have the latest HTC desire phone, anything that I try and download it tells me that my phone is not compatible. I can't get to the vodafone live website it just keeps redirecting me to another vodafone page. I can't use any of the shortcuts on my phone to download tones/games/ringtones because again it just redirects me to another vodafone page. I've tried to sign into my vodafone online and it tells me that my phone number is invaild. I've tried to contact customer care numerous times - only a few times did I get the "we will call you back option" Yesterday I waited on hold for over an hour only to get a man who told me it wasn't his area and put me through to someone else, after being on hold for another hour someone else finally answers and tells me it wasn't his area either, then tries to put me through to someone else and then I got cut off. This has happened so many times I've given up trying to make contact. I just want to know what the problems are and how long it going to take to fix them. I don't live paying for a service I can't use.

In the last 8 months I have had constant call drop outs
network busy tones(3beeps)
people try to call me and even though the phone says its full 3g service they get the vodafone lady
data is very slow and doesnt load
vodafone have given me the run around to try new sims different phones etc even though they know its a network issue
i waited on hold to customer service for 1hr 15 mins only to be told they would call me back monday on a landline phone
grrrrrrr
i understand things are tough at vodafone withe the merge and increased traffic etc but at least compensate us in some way or offer some support dont shift the blame to 'it may be your handset' or 'go to your nearest store and change your sim card'

im sorry not good enough guys please please please dont treat us like this

8732 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is some hope at 29 Dec 2010 07:51:01 PM
I've been experiencing call dropouts, and a message on my phone which simply said "congestion" when I tried to call last night.
I wasn't expecting much after 40 minutes on hold to Vodafone, however I did get a young man who was very helpful.
They are obviously taking their complaints very seriously.
My other issue was that the only reason I'm still with Vodafone is because of their ashes coverage, however because of their signal, I wasn't able to access day one of the boxing day test on the train home the other day because of the appalling patchy signal.
Was terrible.

8730 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is THE WORST CARRIER EVER! at 29 Dec 2010 07:47:25 PM
I joined up to Vodafone as my daughter was on it, and all I knew was they offered free vodafone-to-vodafone calls. I used to be on Optus Prepaid, and NEVER any problems! Great reception, great customer service, short waiting times when calling them...however, less than one month ago, I joined a no-contract monthly plan with Vodafone and here are my numerous COMPLAINTS:
sometimes calls drop out, reception is very very poor...OFTEN, often can't send text messages due to reception probs (strange, when Optus was PERFECT!), I called Vodafone 1555 last week to cancel my phone service with them, and I took the option of them phoning me back as the wait time was over 40 minutes they said. So they phone me back, and I was on hold another 114 minutes, before I HUNG UP IN DISGUST! :(((( I had my young kids to look after, and i wasted the whole morning on hold, and telling my kids to go play. They even missed morning tea. AND I NEVER GOT To TALK TO ANYONE. I even called a Mobile Phone shop and they say, no we have to call teh same number 1555 to cancel your service....
So what is the solution? I don't even use the full credit i get given....I want to go back to OPTUS....do i call in the middle of the night in the hope of getting through quicker? I WILL TRY THAT TONIGHT, and if they WON'T CANCEL MY SERVICE, I'll be back here!!!!!
I don't even care anymore if they make me lose my phone number (unless i pay them $50 to take the number elsewhere)...well, they are not getting more from me!

14:55 today requested a call back - as "Lara" states you dont loose your place in the queue.

**WAITED 95 MINUTES NO CALL BACK**

17:00 Called and waited on hold. 45 Minutes later, THEY ANSWER!!!
So where is my so called "call back" you promise that i dont loose my place in the queue? Its absolute rubbish!

This customer service rep, doesnt help in any way.. Puts me through to iphone support only to explain my problem all over again to find out im speaking with BILLING!

Billing then put me through to iphone tech support which they say will answer my call in under 6 minutes.. Only to wait another 90 minutes and then they answer. They reset my net work settings and it doesnt help then proceed to want to put me through to another department. After discussions about not wanting to be put on hold he assures me his "going to wait until they answer and explain my situation so i dont repeat myself AGAIN".. And that it wont take longer then 5 minutes as its an "internal" call... well 2HOURS and 20 minutes of being on HOLD again to this department, i had to repeat everything, only to be told to visit the vodafone store. Its now 21:27 and ive only just got off the phone.

I will be walking into vodafone tomorrow and cancelling out of this contract!!!

TO THE CEO of VODA, your apology was meaningless rubbish your P.A put together for you. Have you switched to telstra yet??? You can queue up behing me tomorrow! :)

I like doing things in person customer service included. I don't like that you can not pay bills in store. I also do not like that you can not cancel your account instore, I mean the least they could do is let you break up in person. So here I am using up my skype credit calling vodaphone from Sweden all because I am unable to register for online services. Well it is hard to receive a temporary password via SMS when the sim card in question is in a broken USB Internet modem in a bin somewhere in Perth. Also your on hold music has bad reception, great advertising.

I miss calls, don't receive texts, can't send texts, it took 4 days for me to receive a picture message! I pay $79 per month and get bugger all service. I spent every night for a week on hold to the support area, only to get advice that my current issues have nothing to do with the current network issues, and they would call me back. That was meant to be last friday. No calls. I get texts and emails saying I haven't paid my bill and I had paid it a week before the text and email were sent. Vodafone have failed at providing any level of service and they are not even returning calls after making repeated assurances that they would. I will also be cancelling my contract without paying the fee.
29 Dec 2010 07:34:07 PM: : Until the ACCC makes new recommendations, or the class action gets up, we still need to follow all the rules, yes it has been established and admitted by Vodafone that their is a problem but that doesn't give anyone the rights to stop paying or just port out and cancel, if you do this you will affect your credit file and you will be in the wrong.

Had our phones stolen just before Christmas. Tried to get onto Vodafone but couldn't. Finally got an answer via email, outbound calls now blocked.... on one of the phones.

Called today to get IMEI number to report to the police - on hold for two hours. Transferred by a support person who did not have access to the information. "You will be on hold only 15 minutes maximum".

I hung up half an hour later.

Their shops have iPhone 4's. But only if you are a new customer. If you're a customer who has paid them thousands of dollars over the last few years you can - you guessed it - get on the phone, wait for two hours and hope they have "new stock" some time in January.

My service is ALWAYS playing up! I receive voice mail, and my phone did not even ring. I get txt messages from people days later after they have sent it, and get charged for extra data when I am on an uncapped data allowance. PLUS I wanted to upgrade my iphone to an iphone 4, but was told that I would have to cancel my current plan, mind you, I have been a loyal customer of vodafone for over 11 years, and never had a problem with them, and re-sign up with another plan for my new iphone.... gee talk about money grabbers. And also not too long ago I had smashed the screen on my iphone , as it came out and wanted to claim insurance on it. I was told by Vodafone that they would not offer e relplacement phone during the insurance process, and if the iphone were to be replaced, it would be replaced with a FACTORY SECOND iphone, not a new one, so I bit the bullet and got a new screen from chinatown for $100. But You wouldn't expect a factory second if your TV or microwave under insurance would you. Not very good customer service I'm afraid, vodafail!

And here I was thinking it was just me... from having passwords mysteriously disappear and taking weeks to reset, to not being able to access the account on their oh-so-fabulous website, email queries being closed out with no response, and hours on hold to the customer non-service. If only I could charge Vodafone for the hours of my wasted time. I'll be changing providors when i get back home in the New Year

I was with Vodafone for many years when it first come out and offered a heap of txts msgs each time that you recharged but as soon as they got the customrs in that went out the window and the offers got less and less. The coverage sucked as did the customer service especially in the stores. The mobile phones that you can get with Vodafone are rejects that other phone companies wont use,i learnt that quick. However in saying this there is not many phone companies that you can trust.Telstra employees are rude and have reduced me to tears many times. I have written a 9 page letter to them while being on the phone on hold from a telstra employee,i have had them laugh at me and abuse me and lie to me. Today i went to activate a Telstra sim and after many phone calls and and over an hour of my time on the phone i finally got through and was spoken to rudely.Telstra also have many black spots too and they certainly dont care about customers.
I just hope these complaints are valid and the person who started this is not a disgruntled past Vodafone employee.I notice that Telstra and Virgin are getting plugged on this site and they are not much better.
I accidently typed in vodafail.com.au and i got a blank page with my ISP on t,hmmmm!!! Is this an ad for Telstra????
29 Dec 2010 06:50:33 PM: As said before, we understand concerns such as yours but we can assure you the Vodafail team does not work for any Telcos (and have not in the past) and this is not an advertising site for any particular Telco. The motivation behind Adam starting this site is on the home page and it is the truth. We do not officially endorse any particular Telco and our 'Alternatives' page is a collection of what has come to our attention as alternatives. We also do not own the vodafail.com.au address and contents of that site has nothing to do with us. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. - Vodafail Team
29 Dec 2010 10:51:12 PM: If that is the case, instead of vodafail, make it a telco complaint site where u actually list all the telcos.Don't you think this site is a little unfair when i'm sure ppl have experienced the same thing with other companies.I waited for 1 mth before telstra could activate my home phone and i understand becos it's due to the system and not really within their control... i had issues with my virgin mobile cos they kept sending me mms settings to the phone 4 times a day and could not give me an ETA and only got fixed after a mth and their reason being"we use optus network so we need to get optus to fix it"I use to get drop outs from virgin too and decided to port my number over to vodafone after the shitty experience.I am sure other telcos...ppl complain too..
30 Dec 2010 06:24:47 AM: yes I'm sure if there was a general telco site listing all the telcos, people would be complaining about others, not just Vodafone.
6 Jan 2011 10:25:21 PM: then maybe this site could be changed to telco complaint site so it doesn't seem like only vodafone customers are facing this issues.I personally think it's a little unfair ...i've been using vodafone for 3 years and honestly.. i'm happy with my service. When i have issues, i go to the store and they help me with it....

29 Dec 2010 05:43:11 PM: that means you have had an hour and a half of people in front of you, when it is your turn they will answer, if your worried about drop outs then don't ring from your mobile, it is the cost of a local call from your land line

On the 17th of December I purchased a mobile broadband modem and sim card service after being told that there was Vodaphone service where I was to spend Christmas so that I could Skype my daughter in the USA. Only to find out that I had to drive another 25 to 30 km to Mount Barker WA to get a weak signal and that kept breaking down. Today,29th of Dec I went to the place that I purchaesed it only to be told that to cancel the service I would have to ring 1300 650 410. I have now been on hold being told to hang in there all afternoon , for about 4 1/2 hours. So not only was I lied to I have been treated with utter contempt. It is ok to sign up and purchase from shopping centre outlets but not to close or cancel a service. I hope that nobody has been trying to contact me on my land line this afternoon

After a couple of months of "putting up" with the inconsistant reception levels, i attempted to contact Vodafone Customer Care. Other than the reception issues, i was also having problems with my phone. The first time i called, i was on hold for over 2hrs and 20minutes - then i hung up and tried again. Waited another 30minutes then discussed the issues with the first consultant i spoke to - who might i add told me i was "speaking to the wrong area". After being transferred around, i was told to go to the store to have the issue resolved. At the end of it, i managed to get a different phone and a new plan (after arguing my case). The reception is still terrible. People call when i don't know they're calling, calls drop out etc...now on hold again to Customer Care...

I have been trying to unlock my phone for one month now. The website to unlock the phone is failing. I have rung 1555 only to have vodafone confirm the site is not working and to try again in a couple of days. Mmmm well its been over a week since that call and still the same. I even visited a vodafone store in person to get the problem resolved. They just kept saying do it online, and I kept replying I've done that and one month later still not working. Then they said ring the 1555 number. I also said I've been there and done that too. They gave me another customer care number 1300650410 and I was on hold there for ages (as usual). This process on this number was just the same as 1555. After waiting 50 mins I had to hang up as I had to go out. Disgusting service.

8596 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 04:59:18 PM
Well after multiple phone calls and being left on hold or waiting for the callback (that doesn't come) I am over it. I am complaining about my phone and vodafone's poor service areas and performance issues.

I constantly have people call me and my phone goes straight to voice mail. Same as SMS's disappearing or arriving hours late. My phone disconnects mid-call constantly!

The service is so poor I have purchased a SIM with another provider and tested my handset with zero problems. So for the past 3 months I have been migrating over. I want to exit. However, now I am told I need to pay out my contract (6 months x $49)!!! Vodafone's service is so bad I am forced to go elsewhere so why should I be held to that? I want out but at nearly $300 to exit this is extortion. I do not want to be paying two providers.

My family are all on vodafone and experience the same problems. What I want to understand is what happened recently (last 3 months). The service is not worth the money.

I recently understood they can void this exit fee if the service area is a known problem area. This is nearly everywhere I go however particularly at home it is amplified and as I said the whole family is affected.

29 Dec 2010 05:06:44 PM: Yea if you are having really bad reception issues they should let you cancel without any fee, but they might ask for the phone back. Keep contacting them and if they can't resolve your issue then it might be worth going to the TIO.

2, Try and get refund for prepaid and try and cancel contract.
At present I think 1 will work as I am still on hold after 1 hour.
Any suggestions.
29 Dec 2010 05:02:05 PM: Email them via their online complaints form.. it takes longer for a response but you can track it. They will exit your contract if your service area cannot be fixed.

Seems to be a common trait, unable to speak with anyone regarding my wireless dongle (poor signal in most locations around my home on Gold Coast). Ended up calling a vodafone store in the NT! Rang Vodafone and was put on hold for about twenty min, ended up hanging up. I'll wait for the 12 months to expire on contract and cancell it, I will never go back, it seems to be the easiest way at the moment.
Worst customer service I have ever come accross in my 55 years.

Agree, having same problems as everyone & extremely frustrated & angry! Been with Vodafone 10 yrs. Their customer service is almost non existent. The greatest deterioration is in the last few months but declining over past 2 years. Main problems are dropping out, poor reception ie often only 1 - 2 bars, problems with global service while on business & unable to access voicemail - unable to get through to call centre to resolve, on hold 40 minutes at nearly $7 per minute, yes this is the cost to call the customer assistance from overseas! Made several attempts, each time eventually hung up as unable to get through. The one time I got through the girl said this was not her department and we needed to speak to another dept which were not available at that time but she would notify them - we never heard from her or the dept. Attempted online help & also sent email query. Received a response to our email from Vodafail nearly 24 hrs later to tell us they had received & logged our problem & 'they would get back to us' and gave some standard info which didn't help. We were on business overseas and was ridiculous not only that global roaming was not working but that we could not get assistance to fix the problem yet ended up with a big $ bill in trying. On return from overseas attempted multiple times to contact Vodafone to discuss this bill before paying for a service we did not get but could not get through. 3 days after the bill was overdue a bar was put on my phone.... as a last resort to contact vodafail l plugged my phone in to its charger and my partner & l spent a combined nearly 6 hrs on hold to get through to resolve the global roaming bill issues. We are fed up.

I have had poor internet service since I began my contract. It drops out more times than it is connected as a student who relies on the net for research it is starting to impact my studies. Trying to contact Vodafone to sort this out has been nothing short of a complete waste of time. I spent an hour on the phone only to be told by a foreign call centre operator "I don't know anything about that" and who tried to put me on hold again. My partner tried after this and spent two hours on hold. Got through to someone only to be transferred to another department and put on hold again. At this point he succeeded in getting put through to the cancellation department. Win for us, right? Not really. He got a recorded message saying "the department is shut" and vodafone cut him off. He tried again yesterday, demanding to speak to a manager. After getting passed around several times he finally got someone who at least agreed to waive my next bill but said to ring back tomorrow. He rings back - spends 40 minutes on hold - gets put through. Gets cut off. Instead, I try sending several emails. The only response I get is "we are closing the correspondence". This is beyond a joke! We are at our wits ends now and have no idea what to do. I have contacted the ombudsman and have to hope that will accomplish some real results.

8506 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massively! at 29 Dec 2010 02:37:54 PM
I have my phone on silent most of the time at work and as a result if someone calls and I miss it, they generally leave a message for me to call them back. Problem is, the messages don't come through to my phone on average for about 2-3 hours later and the phone doesn't even register that I've had a missed call. My calls cut out, the internet is constantly dropping out, I can get reception in my kitchen but not my bedroom (which is right next to the kitchen) and I live in Mt Gravatt! But this is all on a good day. A good day is classed as one where the hand set (which is only 18 months old) actually works. I am typing this whist having been on hold to Vodafone now for the last 35 minutes. I orginially called to find out when my contract will be finalised with them due to my handset not working, the CS rep suggested I speak with someone about their "loyalty phone upgrade" program. So after waiting 35 minutes on hold, I was then informed by the next person that I would have to pay an extra $30-$50 per month just to have a new phone for the next 12 months otherwise I can pay for the remainder of my current phone which would be just over $300.00! Not really sure how this is a loyalty program considering it means me having to pay them more for a service that DOESN'T WORK!

8490 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pretty FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 02:22:52 PM
I have been with Vodafone for years.. I really don't know why. I think it's because now I have half my family on Vodafone for the free V2V calls and I'm stuck with them. I can't tell you how many times I have been charged for internet on my 'blackberry with free internet' plan. To call them and get the charges reversed takes a minimum of 3 transfers in their callcentre and then the problems are never resolved. To resolve this I have been on hold for over one hour on 3 separate calls. I ring, immediately on hold.. speak to someone, get transferred.. wait 20mins on hold, after describing my issue for the second time, transferred again, another 15mins on hold, someone answers and hangs up immediately without even speaking to me. Issue not resolved, another call, more time on hold. It is so bad I have literally been in tears more than once in frustration with vodafone. Now I am trying to buy a prepaid for my daughters Xmas present. I cannot load the site for days, when I do, I try to 'add to cart' and it has an error. They aren't selling this phone instore. I try again, no luck. Call online customer sales, they can't sell it to me either because it's a prepaid. Yes they are having difficulty with their website, please try again in 4 hours. So frustrated again at this point. I ring back - 'please say what you are after' "COMPLAINT".. 'Unfortunately there will be a... 20min.. wait to speak to someone'. 20mins?! 20mins on hold to complain?!? OMG I am on hold to complain about being on hold and getting crappy customer service! "Buy before the 20th Dec for delivery before Xmas"... it's now the 19th. Try to call again, one last time, speak to a lovely person located in TAS (wow! not many of them left at Vodafone) but she still can't help me because it's a prepaid. I send a screenshot of this offer through to their online feedback form. I get a response saying "I can't find this offer, but we have some lovely contracts for you". I reply again "as per my previously attached screenshot, the offer is clearly shown on your website, can you confirm you are not willing to give me the offer as advertised and shown in my screenshot'. Someone will get back to me. It's now 29/12 and no reply for 7 days. I try again on the website.. still stuffed. So here I am. And this is not even the half of it.. just some of the issues I have had. Why am I with Vodafone?? That's right, all of them are just as bad as each other.

I have been a vodafone user for about 6 years. I can handle the intermitant and weak vodafone reception but what I won't put up with is poor customer service.

I called the Vodafone call centre after my phone started sending multiple sms messages to recipients. I was left on hold for 40 minutes at 8pm on a sunday night. My call was picked up for about a minute, no one spoke to me and I could hear laughing and conversation in the background. My call was then placed back in the queue and I hung up. I have worked in a call centre and there is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour. I have now moved my business elsewhere.

I've been to the vodafone stores that are local to me (2 out of 3 are being renovated) the store that is open doesnt have any loan phones left because someothers are having the same issue, i was yelled at and told to "get over it. ". I wasnt impressed with this service so i called theire customer service centre where i was on hold for 1 hour and they just simply told me that i'd need to contact my local store. This was over month ago now and still there are no loan phones. This is my only course of contact to ,y family. I am a mum and need my phone for when my daughter is at preschool and also in case of emergencies. This is rediculous. Vodafone changed my plan of 3-4 years to a different setting. This meant all my previous 'credit' and 'hours' disappeared and I suddenly had to top up each month cos the credit was taken from me. I didn't ask for anything to be changed.

Spent one hour and twenty four minutes on hold to be hung up on.

Rang the business line to see how fast they get served and was answered in less than 20 seconds, to hear a group of men having a giggling conversation before the phone was smashed onto the receiver.

Spent another half an hour on hold to speak to a non-english speaking woman who was convinced that I was responsible for changing my account details, even though I haven't done so in the 3-4 years I've had the same Sim/account.

8461 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big Fail at 29 Dec 2010 01:59:47 PM
I thought I was the only one with problems - actually thought it was my handset and have since gone and paid an "Upgrade" fee with Vodafail to try to fix my problem. My calls always drop out, other members of my family who are with 3 and Vodafone (because I "recommended them") try to ring and my phone doesn't even show a missed call... important voicemail messages come thru 2-3 hours after they were left... when I rang Vodafone to upgrade my handset the phone call was with someone who had very bad english to argued about what contract I was one - which I was right :) and the phone call dropped out after being on hold for 40mins and they didn't ring me back!! Tried to call back again... only to be on hold for 20mins and the call dropped out. Luckly the next day I rang and did get a helpful call centre personell who did ring me back each time my call dropped out - 4 times in fact...
Basically - I've upgraded my handset , locked myself in for another 24months... but am now deeply regretting it after discovering this website and realising that I'm not alone!!!

Reception is poor even though the phone shows 4 - 5 bars. The data download drops out constantly and when it does work it is slow - my old dial up connection in the 90's was lightning compared what's on offer at the moment. Dialing 1555 is a waste of time, I can't sit on hold all day; and still not reply to my email sent 6 days ago....

When I suddenly started having USB modem internet problems, I called the call centre. Phone dropped out twice and after being kept on hold for 28 minutes, I was told to go into the shop as they couldn't detect the problem. I went into the Highpoint Vodafone store, and they told me that they didn't have any service in the store and would have to go outside and contact the call centre again! In the end, it turned out that the same Vodafone shop gave me a prepaid MOBILE sim card when I had requested to purchase a prepared INTERNET sim card! The packaging doesn't differentiate!

8445 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is nothing but problems at 29 Dec 2010 01:38:21 PM
After being with Vodafone for 19 months the reception and drop outs progressively became worse and worse on both my mobile and mobile broadband. I lost count of how many times I was told by VF to uninstall and reinstall my broadband and how often I would have poor to no coverage on my mobile. Going into a VF store I was told my particular house was in a poor coverage area....I live in a well established central suburb in a free standing house not in a concrete underground apartment surrounded by hills.
In frustration I changed providers then got hit with a $550 final bill even though in store they told me my payout figure was $330. I had to cancel my mobile broadband by phoning customer service - 5 times I phoned and either got cut off or left a message for someone to call me back, I even emailed VF asking. A week went by and I had no call back, I rang again and after being on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes I finally spoke to someone who was so rude to me over cancelling my broadband even though the plan was finished she tried everything to get me to keep my business and seemed annoyed at the fact that I had poor coverage in my house.
Vodafone need to improve their coverage, call centre customer service and waiting times. I yet have to resolve the apparent $550 cancellation?
Much happier with my new provider.
29 Dec 2010 01:49:12 PM: I do have to add to this the staff in the Vodafone stores have been helpful and sympathetic. I feel sorry for them having to deal with frustrated customers, its not their fault.

8438 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SOS Calls Only too often at 29 Dec 2010 01:32:29 PM
I am in Coffs Harbour which is a mess in itself. The Network coverage of Vodafone is very patchy. Complaints made on the phone more often than not use up my credit while on hold. While VF have the longest life of credit on pre pay when the correct plan is chosen,it does not compensate for the drop outs, non connection and missed calls.
I have purchased pre pay Optus and Telstra phone which have n coverage area problems at my location, so Vodafone, please explain !!!

Called the customer assistance line to be placed on hold for 30mins, my call got answered and asked "what type of phone did i have", "i replied Nokia". To which he replied "i have to transfer your call, please hold!". 40 mins later another person answered got my details and said "Can i put you on hold while i bring up your details?" "Why not, i've already been waiting an 1hr and 10mins!!!"
What a joke!!! Your customer assistance is crap and the time that it takes to answer the calls is ridicoulis...
Thank god, my contract is up in 2 months cause im not coming back.. After more than 10years with you, this has been nothing but a joke...

8423 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Never ever again at 29 Dec 2010 01:18:08 PM
First I spent $230 + of pre paid credit just trying to get my phone activated. This was made up of being on hold for 6 and a half hours calling 13 times talking to those shit computers that never get you any where. Just trying to get my old number released from another carrier. I then received my phone but could not get it activated for another two weeks. Now I have lost the phone they will not give me any help to get a replacement only at a cost of $20 per month on top of my plan, i have asked for an early termination of my contract although it is going to cost me $99 x 24 which is a total of $2476. When I was with telstra i had an early termination fee of $470. I'v called 3 other phone companies that have the same thing. I'm willing to pay for the phone but as I have not had the first payment come out of my bank I think I should not have to pay the life of the contract. I'm not a happy camper. And will fight this till I win
29 Dec 2010 01:27:26 PM: if you call from a land-line it's the cost of a local call, defiantly using a mobile to call another provider will chew up credit!
If you have in fact loss the phone, then certainly under any phone companies terms of agreement you will be responsible for it, and unless you make an insurance claim if you have it insured you will need to buy a new phone or pay one off with the company.
Certainly if it is in the contract agreement that you will need to pay a full exit fee to the affect you have spoken of then that will stand under the law.
I have been through this one with Optus and it's part and parcel of all the phone companies....Insurance or bust!

8419 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total waste of money & time at 29 Dec 2010 01:11:36 PM
I had been a Vodafone customer for years. I didn't mind putting up with the crap service because they had the big caps so it wasn't so bad. But then it got even worse and everytime my call drop out i had to call ppl back so it was costing me more and more. I would get txt days after they where sent or not at all. Never had reception, the coverage was SO BAD........ I would get charged twice for one txt sent and when recharging my credit over the phone by credit card i had been double charged more than one time !!! I was on hold to Vodafone for hours at a time to get my complaints heard. I have now switched to the bigger phone provider and i get full coverage and great service. BIG thumbs down to Vodafone or should i should i say Vodafail !!!!!!

8411 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is making money from a glitch at 29 Dec 2010 01:04:51 PM
There have been a number of occasions I have sent a single text message and the message has been sent multiple times. Just over a month ago it reduced my credit to zero in a matter of minutes.

At first I thought it could be my phone playing up, but then I heard it was happening to a lot of Vodafone users.

If my understanding is correct then Vodafone should definitely be making efforts to reimburse users like myself.

Once I can find the patience to last long enough on hold I will see what they can do for me.

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!

8378 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extremely Poor Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 12:44:23 PM
I thought phone companies were supposed to provide adequate phone service at the very LEAST???? How can they still be in business!!??

Customer service... Vodafone you should be ashamed of yourself.... over an hour waiting on hold and still no resolution or they simply say 'I will all you back' and of course they don't. They started my new contract before I even had my iphone delivered, jamming texts, poor phone coverage, call drop outs constantly.... the list goes on... If you can't provide good phone or customer service, then don't PRETEND and LIE like you do.

8377 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 12:44:07 PM
I have two phones connected to my account. One I use and the other my 15yrs old daughter uses. She continually complains to me about her network coverage. She travels to and from school on a chartered bus service to her school. The phone is for her safety and security to contact either of her parents or other person in the event she misses the bus or is involved in after school activities where she can contact someone to pick her up. The original handset which was part of the contract practically disintegrated after 9 months and when I asked at the shop front where the contract was signed the same shop assistant pointed me in the direction of the manufacturers repair centre taking no responsibility for the poorly performing handset which they provided.
I have since purchased a new handset to replace the not paper weight provided initially.
Additionally even with the new handset when my daughter is at home the service coverage is not very strong.
I infrequently travel for business purposes and the personal and the supplied business phones are both vodafail and the coordination to meet clients has cost me time and frustration with clients.
On a separate issue I rang the call centre to access My Vodafone, as every time I have tried to log in to sort out my own problems I get incorrect user name or password. I rang to reset my password update my account balance, left a message for them to call back they said 23min. 28min later i called again and left another message for them to call me with a 45min wait time.
My second logged call was returned first after over an hour. The password was reset, asked about my balance they assured me the information had been updated. I logged in to see that the details had not been updated and that my request had been ignored. While logged in a received the first return call now over 1.5hrs after the due 23min not quiet 2hrs later. The call centre person was rude and dismissed me when i explained the situation that this return call is over 1.5hrs later than the information provided.
I sent an email to complain and was provided with a very automated please contact the manufacturer of the handset, if the handset is part of the contract then the responsibility under the contract as its their contract part of their responsibility to provide service to that contract.
They wanted to know the name and store location as a way of satisfying my compliant on their poor service performance both at the call centre and at the shop fronts, the coverage, contract serviceability and dispute resolution.

8360 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is We Gotta Follow The Rules! at 29 Dec 2010 12:28:12 PM
Until the ACCC makes new recommendations, or the class action gets up, we still need to follow all the rules, yes it has been established and admitted by Vodafone that their is a problem but that doesn't give anyone the rights to stop paying or just port out and cancel, if you do this you will affect your credit file and you will be in the wrong.

Keep a diary of events, establishing the problem.

Figure out exactly what you would like to be done about it, be prepared to compromise!

Contact Vodafone tell them what the problem is and what you would like as a remedy.

If then they can't help you, then contact the TIO, or join the class action.

Wait times are crap at the moment of course because of all the problems, you will have to be patient and wait your turn, and yes it sucks, but until you have actually spoken to them and they have not agreed to help, they haven't done anything wrong!

And remember you'll catch way more flies with honey than vinegar, be polite, be reasonable, be patient, it always works best!

Another good tip, is put everything into an email and send it to them, of course as pointed out on this site you may not get an answer in a hurry, but it is still a log of information outlaying your problems, send a copy to yourself so you have a record, it will all add levity to your cause!
29 Dec 2010 12:30:40 PM: We need Piper Alderman to tell us how to document things for the class action. What is needed in court.

I have been a Vodafone customer for a number of years and cannot believe the decline in service over the past two years. I have been trying to call customer service from my mobile phone and the number just disconnects. I then tried the sales number and a rep answered within 20 seconds. Once she realised i was already a Vodafone customer I was then placed in a Que with a wait time of over 30 mins. It appears Vodafone has adopted the Sol Trulio business model.

8341 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Quite the fail! Limited service & out of contact expense at 29 Dec 2010 12:09:27 PM
I have been with Vodafone since mid 2009 and have had nothing but issues with my Blackberry Storm.

The only place I get reception is outside of our house. I actually do not bother making any phone calls from my handset as often as I used to with another network. It is highly inconvenient. I've attemped to lower my cap numerous times and have given up after 40mins+ on hold. When I finally speak to someone, they advised that they are going to charge me $70+ to lower my phone cap, which hasn't happened to me before.

Their sim cards burn out too easy and I've had to go to the store to get a new sim for my phone. It is way too inconvenient to hand my phone in for a service, so I just put up with it.

I need to exit my contract because Vodafone do not compare to other services in the long run. Vodafone is certainly a Voda-dud.

The day that signal dropped for a lengthy amount of time was when a member of my family was critical in hospital and Vodafone became VERY VERY unreliable.

Not impressed Vodafone.

8324 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is dissapointing at 29 Dec 2010 11:55:17 AM
I got a new contract in July 2009 and an LG Prada phone. Vodafone then offered me a wireless internet USB with 3mths free. I later found out that the three mths were the 3rd, 8th and 13th mths of my contract, which I wasn't informed of so I rang them and they changed it to the first three mths for me. The internet worked great for a while then I moved to Perth and it dropped out every 2mins. I rang vodafone to fix this and they told me it's the house I was living in, long story short I went to a vodafone store in Perth and asked them to cancel the contract because it wasn't working and I needed internet urgently, after 2hrs of me convincing them it didn't work correctly they eventually agreed to cancel the contract and I returned the USB in ~Nov 2009.

I was also having problems with my phone at the same time, dropped calls, missed calls and calls that don't come through and sms's not getting through for days. In June 2010 I began getting other peoples voice mail messages, I rang and told them but they told me they cant see this happening "it happened". Vodafone's solution to me having dropped calls or low signal was to turn off the 3G and put onto 2G - this means that I was paying for a 3G service and only got a 2G service. I admit that the 2G was much better and I had less drop outs and I could hear the callers better. But I didn't pay for a 2G service or phone. Vodafone have tried many solutions to fix my problems like, replace the sim, replace the phone, which I did, I got an iPhone 3G.

The last straw was when I had broken the car key and was stranded, I rang my mum and she was going to bring me the spare key. I waited 30mins and thought this is taking too long for her to call me when she arrived. I rang her and she said she'd been calling me and the calls were going to message bank. I didn't move, I didn't call anyone because I was waiting for this very important call that never came. I reported this immediately to a local Crazy Johns store, who I was already talking to to get my phone service fixed.

I'd finally had enough, rang and rang and rang, and got the contract cancelled in Nov/Dec 2010, but I had to return the phone and they told me I needed to send them the iPhone - not the LG - unbelievable. I didn't, I only sent them the LG phone. I have a few problems with this, 1) I have paid for half the phone so don't I own half of it? they can't reuse it either. 2) I was told to pay $100 to cancel the contract and not send them the phone. 3) I have since been sent a bill for over $600 which I queried, they said they haven't connect the return of the phone with accounts. I wonder if I'll get another bill?

I just agreed to send them the phone to get out of this contract and have my calls come through.

I have records and details of my complaints.

8292 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone is EPIC FAIL!! at 29 Dec 2010 11:26:29 AM
I Have been having connection issues for some weeks now since almost the whole east coast that was on vodafone lost service a few weeks ago maybe a little more than a month.

I am addicted to a game where items that monsters I kill in the game drop are worth actual money for some of them! and I collect these items and then transfer them to another character that needs them. I have had my connection drop now a few times while doing this (which crashes the game) and its not only my items I am losing, my friends also have lost items becausue of it :( I am losing thier trust in a game where I need them to be able to trust me and the connection I have to be stable at least :( as some of the items we have lost have been 1/1000000000 chance to find which gives them their value and then they usually hate stats on them x/x/x (x= strength, damage, %chance for stuff, faster cast, etc, etc which gives them very good value if there is good stats on an item that is already 1/1000000000.

This is not my only beef losing peoples trust in a game is just very frustrating
at the least

everytime I load a page and then have to refresh I am wasting money! say 10% of my downloads are from having to refresh and THIS, THIS IS WHAT SHITS ME!! and watching movies.... when they half load and then freeze or the connection drops.... sometimes I have wasted 200-500mb in a day on prepaid :(

Then there is the issues it gives me and my partner as I am very stressed out when my connection keeps going out making me lose items on my game that I have looked for for a month in my spare time, not being able to pay for things on ebay, trying to load a movie for me and her to watch and losing my connection and having to start again all these things add up over a few months and I have been making me easily irritable which affects my partner even though she rarely uses the internet. Also the Dreambook my partner bought me for christmas will never connect. Connect: (cannot connect to server) every time....

The absolute most annoying thing though.... after 2hrs on hold on an optus mobile I get someone I could not understand because of his strong indian accent and I told him I couldnt understand and to put someone on who spoke better english and I think his response was "i am speaking english" which took a few times for me to understand.. then I ran out of credit after being on hold for hours.... and had to go buy another $30 recharge card just to call them again. which I used a lot of to get back through to them..*which made me easily irritable again and i get snappy and only person to snap at is my partner of 6 years :( I am sick of wasting my time, money, energy and relationship on them but I really need my internet and cant really afford another internet stick and credit at the moment and I am sure Vodafone isn't going to buy me one I am sure they are quite happy with peoples money going down... THEIR DRAIN!!

I have been with Vodafone since 12 December. I was previously with 3 and experienced the usual service issues but always had excellent customer service. Since my contract with Vodafone began I have had little to no reception. My first day the entire network was down. I received a free wifipocket with my contract and have never had reception to be able to use it. I called customer support after trying the usual troubleshooting options and after being on hold for about 30 minutes rused the option for them to call me back. 2 hours later I get a call back to be told I need to be transfered to another area was put on hold for 5 minutes and when i eventually got through I managed to relay my name and the nature of my support issue and then the reception dropped out. Any calls I make or receive only last for 6 - 8 minutes before dropping out due to connection error. Had I known about this site earlier I never would have committed to a contract with this provider. Good on you for initiating this site and allowing people to stand up and be heard!!

8260 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Please correct last entry to: EXTREME VODAFAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:49:25 AM
Mobile Broadband: I was with crazy John for mobile broadband.. had no problem till they joined with Vodafone and convinced me to go on a plan with Vodafail! since then i been having constant connection and billing problem.I once got a bill of over $ 400 for some huge figure of data usage on my laptop!! even the employees at Crazy John's (who by now have become friends due to the repeated visits to have my unending problems fixed) were surprised that a regular user who never exceeded 3GB/month for months could have used that amount in 3 days.. and that was when i didn't even have my laptop and was in the Pilbara!! This bill was finally waived after a lot of haggling.
THEN, i bought an AppleMac and got no connection. They sent me to Apple Store 3 times and every time the Genius Bar told me the problem was not my laptop but their modem. I finally proved to them that their modem was incompatible with my Mac and they waived the cancellation fees and canceled my contract. BUT i was NOT REFUNDED for all the payments i made over 6 months and did not get any service or internet access!! Not only that! After the cancellation i got a bill for $78! after several over 1-hour long arguments on the phone I was told not to pay the bill and that they will cancel it!!
I am now with Virgin Broadband with a $49 usb modem and $19/month and NO PLAN.

MOBILE PHONE: I keep having bad connection, getting wrong bill and over-billed and getting them cancelled after having to put up with LARA and her boring and dull messages and spending hard earned dollars to wait while they tell me i have moved up the line. I must have spent 24 hours or more in total being put on hold or talking and trying to explain my problem to operators.
Another example of typical Vodafail: I had suspended my service for 8 weeks last October and got monthly bills for over $140 for the same period! After the long "please hold" etc i proved by giving the time and name of the person who suspended the service, then they said i don't have to pay the bill! Another bill was for a horrendous amount because i was "supposedly" using live something which i didn't even know what it was let alone use it!! Again after long hours (and dollars) of haggling they waived the sum!!
It used to be one of the best service providers. I have been having similar problems with my line and broadband in Egypt as well. I will definitely cancel all my Vodafone connections phone and broadband both in Egypt and in Australia and will pass the word around to my friends who seem to also be having problems.
Let's do it! let's get a class action against them and ask for compensation for all the time we wasted on the phone instead of being productive and earning some good money and all the stress and frustration they have caused us.

29 Dec 2010 10:51:37 AM: Lets do it.. i m in the same boat as u!!!
they dont keep up to their obligation and refuse to cancel my contract
lets get the class action
hopefully telco giants start respecting the consumers and treating them with honesty

8254 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mediocrity is catching with all corporations at 29 Dec 2010 10:44:59 AM
I live in the Sydney area and have been with Vodafone for many years. Since I upgraded 6 months ago to my new smart phone, I've had problems with poor internet service, barely any 3G coverage. I've also had sms problems but fortunately these have been limited. I rang Vodafone on an unrelated matter recently and was placed on hold on 2 occasions for nearly 20 minutes each time with no answer. I hung up both times with no answer. I will say when I was finally able to speak with a real person rather than Lara, the staff were very helpful. Its a shame that the staff are let down by poor service in the management of the company.

8247 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:34:27 AM
I am constantly dealing with not being able to access applications, receiving SMS's MMS's DAYS later, phone calls that dont come through, friends/family/colleagues constantly complaining that they cant reach me. I have lived in two areas recently that are by no means remote and very close to Sydney City, why on earth should my maximum service bar be 2 the majority of the time!? Then to get any help/service I have to wait forever on hold to speak to someone who gives you advice things such as 'try turning your phone off' or blame the reception on the new Iphone. I have always had trouble dealing with bad customer service from Vodafone but am now kicking myself that I stayed with them as the service is only getting WORSE!

8218 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is no customer service at 29 Dec 2010 10:00:57 AM
I sent an email to Vodafone and got the below response... I followed the instructions and called the provided 1300 number but it was NOT the disconnections department but the general contact line. The woman who answered the phone was very polite but but had no idea of Who 'Lara' was. She put me on hold to find the right area for me.. when she returned SHE SAID SHE TALKED TO SOMEONE IN THE RIGHT AREA AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND SHE IS PUTTING ME RIGHT THROUGH TO THIS PERSON.... I WAS THEN ON HOLD FOR 20 MINUTES AND GAVE UP.

The handling of my complaint is totally unacceptable!!

My email to Vodafone:

Hi,

I have been very frustrated over the past months with poor service from my Sydney Elizabeth Bay address. However it wasn't too much worse than the Optus service I swapped over from.

I have now moved to 6-8 Oxley Ave in Redcliffe QLD and the service level is way below acceptable. I have a problem with 90% of calls. Either the call won't connect at all or the reception is so poor I can't understand a think or the call drops out half way through. About 40% of the time people try and call me it goes straight to voice mail.

I rely on my Mobile for business and this is not acceptable service by any standard.

I want Vodafone to let me out of the contract and take the phone back at no penalty.

I am very frustrated by now and need to let you know I will pursue this relentlessly in public and legal if necessary.

Please reply within 14 days.

Kind Regards
Pierre

Vodafone's response to me:

Dear

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we are unable to assist with disconnections or contract rescinds via this medium.

Please phone our disconnections team to arrange by phoning 1300 650 410. When you are connected to Lara, please quote "cancel my service".

Our disconnections team are available 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 - 5.30 Weekends and public holidays.

I look forward to hearing from you should you require further assistance.

Kind regards,
29 Dec 2010 10:04:29 AM: 'Lara' is the name they give to their quaint 'recorded message' lady.
29 Dec 2010 10:47:47 AM: wow this is extremely rude response.. these big telcos are protected and there is no respect for consumers whatsoever.. we should all cancel our contracts for this pathetic service... why should we be paying for the poor service they are offering?? the least they can do is to release us from the contract!!! there is no penalty on them regardless of the fact that we have been suffering but they are so blatantly in denial and insisting not to release us from the contracts!!!!
who is protecting us consumers from these giant telcos who dont give any consideration whatso ever to their obligations?????????????????????

8217 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No service in Kyneton North at 29 Dec 2010 09:59:44 AM
We shopped around before we finally went with Vodafone. We were told that we have service in our area.

We don't have service in our area and as I travel in my job I have seen that the service is very patchy.

Their bills are always late and/or problematic. I rung them twice. On the first occasion I was on hold for 45m. On the second occasion, where they were claiming I hadn't paid my bill (they had drawn from my bank account almost 3 weeks before), I was on hold for 81m.

I'll give them 1 or 2 months to fix all the issues. If not fixed by then I will demand a release from the contract - I will take it to the ombudsman.
