Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have had an account with this company for over ten years with no plan, I elected to go onto a plan due to the fact I also required another two phones for family, I also wanted one bill. this process took me one hour at a retail shop, 6 months later still have not done what I asked, I have pushed arround from department to another put on hold, dropped out calls they do not return calls. I have an expectation of customer service there is none. Sell a contract next move on, they can not get the contract right. I said I would take my buinses elsewhere, they said they would take legal action against me and they also said they will ensure my credit history will be effected. I'm happy to be apart of any class action.

8203 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 29 Dec 2010 09:46:30 AM
Hi i've been spending the last two days trying to sort out this mess Vodafone has put us in. I haven't been getting decent coverage for well over 4 months now. I have been to stores on numerous occasions and have only ever been referred to the incredibly long waiting call centre. So with some time on my hands decided to sort this mess out with them, believe it or not i actually got somewhere yesterday however when i had to talk tot he Loyalty Department was cut off and unable to get a hold of them again. Now on day 3 of trying to sort this crap out and am currently sitting on hold still to speak to the loyalty department, just about to hit an hour wait as well. This is absolute poor customer service no one should be expected to wait this long to sort out any issue and the staff in stores should be much better trained and equipped to deal with issues.I know if i was to give out such poor service at my work we wouldn't have a company to work for much longer, due to not being able to keep any business.

8201 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is #Vodasucks at 29 Dec 2010 09:44:09 AM
When did I log that last comment? I am still on the phone with Vodafone. I have passed to second person and on hold again. Has he gone on his lunch break? I am attempting to negotiate some amalgamation of the two accounts. One has 6 months to go, the other 12 months. Do I cut my losses, pay the (I am now told $299+ $272) exit fees? Oh he's back. Every time I say cancel both contracts, I get another "Did you read the contract?" spiel. I explain the concept of unfair contracts and the classd action lawsuit. Now a router is on offer. OK m I ask for some extra gigs for the rest of this month. Back with the hold music whil he goes to eat his toast. This is just the old car saleman technique to wear you down "Must go ask the manager yada yada yada". (I have hit limit again :() Man, it's like getting ood from a stone.

8198 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dishonest at 29 Dec 2010 09:41:23 AM
I have been having problems with both my vodafone mobiles for about six months. I was having calls divert straight to voicemail without ringing and then getting the voicemail through up to about 3 days late. Text messages were also coming through days late and on numerous occasions i was left stranded and unable to use my phone because it had no reception. After numerous calls to vodafone they convinced me that it was both my handsets (supposedly a coincidence - but they were adamant that it was NOT a vodafone issue), so i went out and purchased two brand new phones which it turned out i didn't need, because the problems persisted. I then spent 16 hours on hold over the next three days to try and find out what was going on. Eventually the ombudsman gave me the customer resolutions number - they again insisted there was no network issue and coincidentally both my new phones were also faulty. Even after the first news report about vodafones network issues started to come out vodafone were still telling me it was my phones ( all four of them that were faulty) not network issue. They even promised me credit which they never actually credited. Not only are they incompetent but they are liars - everyone of them.

8197 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is going downhill faster than usual at 29 Dec 2010 09:41:21 AM
I have been with vodafone for over 4 years. For the first 3 & 1/2 years their reception and customer service were spot on. Over the last 6 months however, myself and my partner find that a lot of our calls constantly drop out, some txt take hours to send and when they arrive, two or three of the same message are received. I have tried to upgrade my plan to a bigger monthly cap, and in store staff pretty much said the only thing they can do is start new plans, they were no help at all. When I did call Vodafone I was on hold on 3 occasions for just over an hour each time. I never got through to them as the first two I gave up waiting and the 3rd time I was disconnected. Will be going elsewhere when my contract is up in 2 months.

8193 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 09:37:13 AM
Called customer service to upgrade my mobile 3 days in a row. Was placed on hold for over 30mins on every call (i gave up on all the calls as i had better things to do). I have never managed to speak to a real customer service person. Changed service provider in the end. That's when i discovered how bad Vodafone service really was. Vodafone does not email your pdf bills to you. You have to log onto the website to download your bills. When you cancel your account, they will immediately stop you from downloading all your bills... even though they keep sending you email notices to pay them. I require my old bills to claim from my company. Vodafone wants to charge me $5.50 per pdf invoice if they were to email me the invoices (invoices that were never emailed to me previously). I always thought it was basic customer support to email the invoice as it also serves as a receipt for previous months payment. This is the worse service provider i have ever dealt with.

8169 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor at 29 Dec 2010 09:12:45 AM
I have been with Vodafone for just over a year. I gave never experienced reliable service, and over the last few months it has gotten worse. I live in Roseville and in a bit of a valley, so weak signal there was never really a surprise, but now I get complete loss of service about 50% of the time. Here are some other examples:
1. The 3G performance is slow most of the time, no matter where I am and even with 5 bars signal strength.
2. I have experienced being in the middle of Canberra City and losing 3G coverage when I needed it.
3. Performance generally in Sydney I find to be very patchy at best.
4. Last week I was in a car (as passenger) and on the Hume Hwy at Campbelltown there was no 3G at all for many miles and at times there was no service at all. So I was on one of the major highways, at one of the largest suburbs of the largest city in the country and I couldn't make a call. I wonder what would have happened if we had an accident and I needed to use my phone for help?
5. At one time in November I had no service at home for nearly two days. I called Vodafone on my landline and they swore there was no outage. The person then said they would put me through to a second level of support and hung up on me. I couldn't be bothered calling back and waiting on hold for another half hour and explaining it all again - somehow I think they are ptmrobably well aware of that....

8166 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Wonders why a communication company cant communicate at 29 Dec 2010 09:10:40 AM
I have been with Vodafone for many years however over the last 4 months have had very unreliable service.. Calls constantly fail and cut out,Emergency calls only and internet on my blackberry ( the reason I need this phone is internet ) is extremely slow or non existent.
I have called so many times waiting on hold for almost an hour each time for the first 6 times to be told " there were NO coverage issues! " This btw is AFTER all the Vodafone shops admitting there were coverage issues.
Then after several lengthy coverage checks with a team leader taking two weeks to complete ( was told 3 days ) again to be told there is NO issue. This has been going on for 4 months!
I want out of this unreliable, incompetent company as they are breaching their contract with me and many others.
I manage to pay my bill on time every time and I expect "service" for that fee.- Too much to ask for VodaFAIL?

8147 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Amounts to criminal thievery, knowingly selling vapour services. at 29 Dec 2010 09:00:02 AM
I have 2 vodafone accounts, both Mobile braodband. I live in City Melbourne on St Kilda Rd where there is no excuse. Constantly plagued for nearly 2 years with constant drop outs, malfunctions of the broadband connectivity, slow transmission. This means many periods of lost produictivity and paying for a service that is not provided. When trying to resolve problems on the phone being passed from technician to technician repeating the same steps, often 2-4 hours in one day. THey tried to tell me there was no problem, so I took my laptop into a Vodifione store on Elizabeth and called from there: each page tool 60 seconds or more to open and then froze. On billing issues I am never able to get through. Last week I tried and was told the wait was 45 minutes. This morning I got through, had a 10 minute conversation, was again put onhold, and it is now another 30 minutes I am suitting listening to Vodafone hold music.
The excess usage fees are pure usury: a $49 plan I was billed $587 this month. I am, near end of contract and they still want $250 exit fees.

8101 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is extremely fail at 29 Dec 2010 08:35:31 AM
Im from the ACT and you would think that would mean my service works however as my husband is also on vodafone we are often unable to contact each other it goes direct to voicemail or comes up with a connection error. Messages that are sent are sometimes not received until days later if at all. This causes issues when trying to contact each other in relation to our 19 month old daughter. I have tried to contact vodafone on a number of occassions and have spent up to 3 hours on hold only then to be hung up on

8080 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 29 Dec 2010 08:21:48 AM
I am with the 3 network and they were fine until they were bought by vodaphone. I am on the $69 plan and was paying around $70-$80 a month. As soon as vodaphone tool control my bills are now in excess of $200. I have done nothing different in the way I use the phone. I was not informed by 3 that they were being sold to vodaphone and when I called them, after hours of being on hold, their help desk was anything buy helpful and I was left with no questions being answered. I am now stuck with a rediculous plan that doesnt meet any of their side of the contract, no reseption and no way out of the contract for another year. This phone company is an absolute joke and I would even say it is a crimanl act.
29 Dec 2010 08:24:20 AM: 3 and Vodafone aren't using the same network it's not as simple as just flicking a switch, if you are having 3 problems then it has nothing to do with the voda problems, just ask Telstra
29 Dec 2010 08:27:34 AM: Yea they are still using Telstra, ironically it's because they are still in contract with them! Hee hee hee

8078 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor at 29 Dec 2010 08:20:27 AM
I've been with Vodafone for years. Never had a problem using an old school phone up to about 2007, then upgraded thru work to a BlackBerry. Intermittent issues commenced then. Work account was moved across to Optus earlier this year, so I went back to Vodafone for personal use as I can only get thru to my brother who lives overseas via Vodafone. From day 1 with an HTC Legend I noticed huge delays in data download and, when in the US for 4 weeks in September/October, noted an almost constant inability to detect Wi-Fi. No noticeable improvement when I got home but thought this was the phone, rather than the network. So I called Vodafone and, after waiting on hold for 56 minutes, finally got thru to someone - yes they were in India, but he was very nice and very helpful. With hindsight, they obviously knew of the issue by then because he was very specific in asking me if I believed my complaint was with the handset or the network. At that point I still thought it was just the phone, based on stuff I'd read online about the HTC Legend. So I got my iPhone4 and could hardly believe it when I realised that the situation was even worse! It functions slightly better if I turn 3G off, but that's kinda defeating the purpose with an iPhone and the improvement isn't all that significant anyway. All of this in the knowledge that I'm paying an extra $32 a month on my contract for the so-called 'upgrade'. So after their CIO announced in the press some weeks back that there were indeed issues and that the company should've acknowledged them sooner, I sent them an email asking why I should have to continue paying the additional fee on my monthly contract when the problem was clearly with their network / coverage all along and was probably little or nothing to do with my handset. The reply I received? A copy-and-paste reference to how I can upgrade my contract. Top marks to Vodafone for correctly interpreting a reasonably simple email question...not! I understand they're probably getting smashed by this issue; I also understand that Telcos worldwide are struggling (to some extent) under the weight of massively increased Smartphone uptake over the last 18-24 months. In the end, as the consumer, that isn't my problem. To my mind it's a fairly basic equation in a fee-for-service industry: provide full service = charge full fee; provide partial / intermittent service = charge partial fee. It's that simple!

8060 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no fail at 29 Dec 2010 08:08:15 AM
i am in no mess...been with VODAFONE....not VODAFAIL/VODAPHONE!!! for 14 years and still am....and have had no problems....have the HTC desire, is a fast processing phone with of course the back up of the network. Honestly, i think it is hideous and people try and whinge about everything. Yes they are in India, However ever time i have spoken with them about an issue/enquiry they respond well and on time. Yes they make you wait, but how many of you are calling cause you actually have a fault or just wanting to be a sheep and join the rest of the clan....

Watching you on today tonight made me laugh. Yes you were on hold for a long time but honestly... did you not know how to put the phone on loud speaker and actually do something constructive with your life then sit on your ass making a website about a company that is updating towers to benefit everyone.

They have 332 million people over the world for customers....GO TO TELSTRA AND PAY $60 FOR 1GB for your internet and stop complaining....
Vodafone has the money to back them up....HOPE YOU DO!!!

SHARE MY PAIN? PAIN IS DEFINED AS A SYMPTOM OF SOME PHYSICAL HURT OR DISORDER NOT WHEN YOU CANNOT SOCIALISE FOR 10 MINUTES MATE! THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE, PEOPLE WITH REAL PROBLEMS....STOP OBESTY AND GET OFF YOUR ASS AND VISIT THE FRIEND!!! NOT SMS THEM!

THANK YOU....AND HAVE A NICE DAY...
29 Dec 2010 11:17:18 AM: A bunch of personal issues here that can't be resolved on this forum. The reality is that Vodafone's network doesn't work.( for me and it appears many thousands of Australians). We paid for it to perform as advertised, not deal with their excuses. Not interested in what they are 'gunnado" to improve network. They have failed to meet their contract with me. Want my money back and will move on to another provider.
29 Dec 2010 01:40:16 PM: if you went to the tio you would solve the issue calmly and civilised....not cause such a statement when they are down at the moment.

8058 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Gotta Follow the Rules at 29 Dec 2010 08:06:03 AM
Until the ACCC makes new recommendations, or the class action gets up, we still need to follow all the rules, yes it has been established and admitted by Vodafone that their is a problem but that doesn't give anyone the rights to stop paying or just port out and cancel, if you do this you will affect your credit file and you will be in the wrong.

Keep a diary of events, establishing the problem.

Figure out exactly what you would like to be done about it, be prepared to compromise!

Contact Vodafone tell them what the problem is and what you would like as a remedy.

If then they can't help you, then contact the TIO, or join the class action.

Wait times are crap at the moment of course because of all the problems, you will have to be patient and wait your turn, and yes it sucks, but until you have actually spoken to them and they have not agreed to help, they haven't done anything wrong!

And remember you'll catch way more flies with honey than vinegar, be polite, be reasonable, be patient, it always works best!

29 Dec 2010 11:03:56 AM: Another good tip, is put everything into an email and send it to them, of course as pointed out on this site you may not get an answer in a hurry, but it is still a log of information outlaying your problems, send a copy to yourself so you have a record, it will all add levity to your cause!

8038 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is epic fail. at 29 Dec 2010 07:47:50 AM
Well, i was with Three Mobile (yes I know theyre affiliated)i was living in the Salisbury area (5018) and I had coverage issues. They suggested I change to Vodafone for better coverage & it showed me on a online map that I would have full coverage in that area so i signed up to a 24 month plan. I found that the coverage was NO better (if not worse) and whenever I try to contact their customer centre for ANY enquiries im on hold for at least 40 minutes!!!!! they tell me this is because of the high demand for the iPhone... pfft what a load. The technicians & service agents I speak to are soo novice and the people in the actual stores are no better. I wish I had stayed with three, theyre cheaper, easier to get in contact with & much more customer focused. I was with them for 4 years before I changed & iv regretted it ever since :(

I have had a Vodafone USB modem since August 2010 and have not had decent connectivity (certainly couldn't download anything) and it has progressively gotten worse! I now have NO connectivity, have reloaded the sofware, got a new SIM card and yet it still won't connect! Tried calling them but have to be onhold for 30mins+ so gave up. Rang from office but since I'm not in front of my computer they can't help. I just now want to get out of my contract and get a pre-paid plan with someone else... so fed up! such a shame b/c I've been with Vodafone for mobiles for 10+ years and haven't had problems until now!

I ordered an iPhone on line and received TWO iPhones. Of course I was billed for both! It took 4 phone calls just to reach some call center in India and the woman had NO IDEA what she was talking about. Then I made further calls after being on hold for 30 minutes most times, and finally got someone to acknowledge a problem. They first asked ME why I received two phones!!!!!!!!! They assured me that they will cancel the second phone and I returned it. Then after one further month I received a bill for BOTH again!! More phone calls and more waiting. Now I am assured that I will be billed for the correct amount. Let's see. I want out of this contract.

I have 3 services with Vodafail. All 3 suffer delayed retrieval of sms, patchy reception depending where you are travelling and un-reliable internet/data access.
I also had to chase Vodafone to actually obtain my cap bonuses that should have been applied upon the activation of te account. I am still chasing my bonus credit from the purchase of an eligible Android phone that should have been given to me on my 3rd bill. I am now approaching my 5th bill with no credit bonus.
Being placed on hold for up to 50 minutes at a time to talk to a service consultant and then to be passed on from one department to another.
Not good enough.

I have issues weekly with not receiving reception for 5 - 10 minutes. It isn't as though i am in an isolated area either, normally i am in the middle of the city or simply at home. Also I regularly send text messages which go through to the receipent 6 times!!! All of which i get charged for.

I attempted to contact the complaints department but after 60 minutes on hold i gave up and sent an email. I received a reply saying "Please contact us" GGGGRRR So i then rang the head office and when asked to speak to the complaints department i was told "Oh sorry we don't have one" What the?!?!?!

Vodaphone sent me a Dongle for wireless internet. I've already got internet through 3 mobile. They've sent me 4 bills averaging between $20 and $130 and I've never even opened the box and activated it. I've since sent the package back and to my suprise...another bill. How many times do i have to tell Customer Service that I have never had an internet account with them and never will. I never with any other company been put on hold for over 45 minutes 5 times in a row. Vodaphone s*ck and i'd never use them, I've also told my friends of my experience and they will never use them now either.

7971 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is wanna watch the ashes for $2.49 at 29 Dec 2010 06:12:25 AM
I thought hey i may as well watch the the 3rd test of the ashes on my i-phone at work instead of listen on my ol transistor :)

Remembered hearing heals during the 2nd test say watch the ashes live for $2.49 on your mobile :) why wouldnt you at that price?

All i can say is thank god it only lasted just over 3 days coz 4 days later, i got a txt saying "that due to high usage not covered by your plan, services are temporarily suspended, please call 1300305522 to discuss options" aye what, i then call this 1300 number and find i cant call it because im currently serving a suspension! so i then jumped on the computer to find out what the story is and find im up for $736 :0 for watching the aussies whop the english, mouth falls on floor so i ring the 1300 number from my wifes mobile and get put on hold then redirected and then the call drops out, so i ring back and ask if this number is costing me more cash and they then give me the secret 15 something customer care number which would have been the best number to give me in the 1st place :( so i then ring this number and get passed from person to person explaining my dilemma and repeating my 4 digit pin pass over n over! then i get the person thats going to help me, i tell my tale of horror again! she then says as a one time act of good faith we can cut the bill in half and give you back 500mb's! i asked wouldnt it be a fair thing if when my just over 2gb usage was up that a reminder txt should come thru telling me that im about use a good part of a weeks wages to watch the rest of the test and that if i was going to spend $736 watching the test id have grabbed a flight to the wacca and watched it live!! She then told me off for not checking my usage every 2nd day and to be careful watching the cricket in the future! i once again explained that it had been a total accident and that id never have watched if it was going to cost me even half of what it cost me and that i felt i had been fully takin advantage off :\

Then was put thru another two operators repeating my pin and story to each before they lifted my suspension :(

Has anyone else been thru this horror of watching test match cricket and getting slapped with a massive bill that could have easily been avoided with a friendly reminder from vodafone that your agreed usage have been reached/exceeded?

7966 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 06:05:59 AM
Vodafones biggest failing has been to close their Australian call centers and relocate them to Mumbai in India. The wait times are unbelievable, the customer service standard and knowledge of the people there is very very poor. Customers need to talk with someone they can understand and with someone who can actually work through to a solution, if there is one.
The Vodafone network in Australia has been undercapitalised from day one. They should spend more of the glitzy corporate advertising budget improving their network capacity, coverage and performance for their customers.
The bottom line is that I will never deal with Vodafone again.

7939 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 04:57:39 AM
Signed up for TWO contracts with Vodafone in November. As and as part of a promotion we were to recieve a free pocket wifi

- We were advised that the phones would be delivered the following Wednesday. Nothing arrived, when contacted, wodafone told us they would arrive on Friday. No phones arrived.

10 working days later and still no phones. Contacted customer service, after being on hold for 40 minutes was told that no order had even been processed due to an error in the system. It took another phone call before this issue was resolved.

- Received the phones, however the pocket wifi was not provided, instead a usb internet.

- Made a number of phone calls, but gave up each time after waiting on hold for between 30 and 90 minutes.

- Finally able to speak with someone, requested that the pocket wifi promised be provide.

- Asked that our numbers from our previous carrier be ported across. Were told it would take over night to process. The following day one of the numbers was successfully ported. The other phone was not ported, however the number was no longer available on my previous carrier.

- Attempted to call. Porting issue and the pocket wifi issue were resolved after speaking to someone.

- Realised that the blackberry pack which I had signed up for, had not been provided. Called vodafone. Was told by customer service staff that the Blackberry team dealt with the issue and I was transferred. After being on hold for over 40 minutes, I hung up

- I called again the next day and spoke to a staff member in blackberry team, who told me that the sales team were the ones who needed to resolve the issue, and transferred me. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, spoke to the sales team, who indicated that customer service needed to resolve the problem and transferred me! After being on hold, spoke to customer service who wanted to transfer me to blackberry team.

= The call dropped out during this conversation. Called back, waited on hold, I became somewhat annoyed. Customer service person said that when the call dropped out, I recieved a phone call back, but didn't answer. This was not true. I recieved a message stating that a phone call had been attempted, but I believe none had ever been made.

Being annoyed, but still polite, I informed the staff member of my various issue and my frustrations with contant passing of the buck between sales, customer service and black berry. Told the staff member that I understood that this was not his fault, however he needed to provide a resolution for me, as my patience had been tested and I was ready to log a complaint with the TIO.

The staff member stated that he was unable to resolve the issue, and that I needed to contact the sales team. He provided me with 1 gig of vodafone data to use while I waited for the issue to be resolved.

I was told he would speak to sales and resolve the problem and that I would be contacted. I provided a landline number to contact me on.

No body contacted me.

- Logged a TIO complaint three days ago. Heard about the class action yesterday

- Recceived a bill which charged incorrectly for the cost of the contracts. Also, I charged for blackberry pack which still hasn't been provided.

Numerous call dropouts on a regular basis. Incoming calls are frequently met with an "out of mobile service area" message. My phone is a business phone, and many customers have problems consistently contacting me.Interesting point on a different subject. I was with telstra and accrued a "On hold" time of 16 hours over a 3 week period. I requested and received compensation for labour charged at $80 per hour for 16 hours that I was on hold!! I received a cheque from telstra for $1000 along with a letter of apology. Might try that with Vodafone!!

7929 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is extreamly fail at 29 Dec 2010 03:53:44 AM
My husbands and my phone keeps dropping out numerous time nearly every call. We ring Vodafail to be on hold for an hour(no exageration)to talk to someone i can't understand. I lost my phone and tried to block the IMEI on it. 3 Times i had to call back because my insurance company said it wasn't blocked. Because i was on hold so long i decided to go to a vodafail shop. They couldn't do anything but say "ring them"....I asked them to as the time on hold was redicoulas they were on hold just as long. I have had it my partner is on $100 contract for what he could get now for $50 and they won't change it. I think everyone with Vodafail needs some sort of good will or compensation for the frustration and suffering.

7911 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Ridonculous at 29 Dec 2010 12:59:07 AM
I have had frequent problems with getting and maintaining reception across many suburbs in perth metro and have slow/no Internet even when I have full coverage and 3G.

Also, vodafone has got to be the worst company for customer service as I have wasted hours upon hours trying to get through to someone on many occasions only to be told that I have been put through to the wrong department. Although I wait on hold to be transferred to the right department I am yet again told I have reached the wrong department, usually at which time the reception drops. Such bad customer service had meant that I have not been able to transfer my old number although this is a relatively easy task at other service providers.

Vodafone needs to pick up their game.

After calling endlessly wasting valuable time eg40 hours in a week on hold! No joke!!! To be told that I cannot get out of my contract despite not having any reception though I still have to pay! Being told the network is being fixed but can't ever give me a date! I am so glad that I am not alone in this! Also some bills have been $1200 per month and the bloody thing doesn't even work and more hours another 40 approximate having to complain with no response!

I've been trying for the last 2 hours to get coverage in my own house to send an sms, and still cant get it, just 30 minutes out of Adelaide. This is worse than poor service. Last time i needed to contact Vodafone i was put on hold for 45 minutes, transferred to someone else and put on hold for another hour and a half and then put through to a department that wasn't even open. internet keeps dropping out and is not consistant. i spent 1 hour on hold just so i could speak to a customer service consultant but they could not resolve the issue. i was then told to switch my phone on and then off to see if it was working but i was calling from my mobile and then i was told it would work, so really the consultant just wanted to get me off the phone so he did not have to deal with the issue. so i called back and got tired of holding so hung up and havent dealt with it since. i need to also say that i just signed a 24 month iphone deal too so im in a tough situation...with no way out.

7820 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is incorrect billing at 28 Dec 2010 09:44:09 PM
It's sorted out now, thanks to myself. I was incorrectly billed $94.08 as an early extension fee on a contract. Turned out it should not have been included (especially since it wasn't mentioned when I agreed to it). I spoke to Vodaphone about this and they said they would call me back about it...they didn't, and a couple of weeks later my next bill came in. I then rang them about it three times today as firstly it dropped out, then i was on hold forever as it didn't explain how i could utilise the automated callback option.

I've been with Vodaphone 2 years too long. After calling up regarding my signal stoping out, Internet working 10% of the day and text messages failing I called the call centre. After 45 minutes got palmed off 3 times. 62 minutes later I p throughout p someone and demands to speak to a TL. Waited another 12 minutes to be told the team leader was on another call and would call me back. Asked for the employees I no an was told her first name only. Asked to be called after 5pm. This was over a week ago and still no phone call. I am so sick of Vodaphone!
28 Dec 2010 09:29:04 PM: Hehe, that reminds me of one of my experiences with Voda call centre, I asked the rep to call me after 5pm Sydney time, she asked me 'so what time is that in India?' maybe thats why you haven't received the call back?! Moving call centre to India was the start of the end for Voda.

I came to vodafail on a contract 6 weeks ago living in Sydney.
Every 2nd to 3rd call fails usually with the person I'm trying to talk to not being able to hear me but I can hear them. I have to call them again usually a few times before it works.
I'm in Hervey Bay at the moment and 3G doesn't work at all or any of my apps that need it. I'm getting the usual drop outs including to vodafails help desk.
I did manage 1 call which lasted 1 1/2 hours but that was on hold to the help desk and guess what happened to that call ........ correct.

7753 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Catastrophic at 28 Dec 2010 08:57:32 PM
I was with Vodafone for 2 years on a contract, it was my first mobile phone. The last year of that contract I could not make any phone calls or recieve any calls due to lack of reception, coverage etc. I could only text for a year and even they would sometimes be recieved by friends hours later. Put simply, I would get better reception putting my sim card into a rock. After calling vodafone and being able to experience their wonderful customer service whereby I am constantly put on hold for hours at a time, I decided to give up and wait for my contract to end. Once it expired I actually had to still call them and get it cancelled. This was the funniest part because the informed vodafone employee I had "didn't have the authority" to cancel my contract which was already expired, I think he didn't have the ability to complete his job. Anyway he puts me on hold for an hour or so as usual and I hang up and get my brother to ring and ask for the latest phone from vodafone and no surprises here no put on hold he vets straight through to the salesman. I got a new phone with telstra and vodafone continues to send me bills even though it's expired and I am no longer using the phone. Good job vodafail.

7750 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL!!! at 28 Dec 2010 08:54:44 PM
I had a Nokia E63 with Vodafone Pre Paid, and I was told that I would have coverage on par with Telstra in Tasmania. Needless to say that Vodafone's 3G Coverage is like 2 bars out of 5 in Hobart, and 3 bars out of 5 for Standard 2G GSM. I left Vodafone and went to Telstra, and I can tell you now that the coverage is 200% better than Vodafone. Vodafone's Customer Service Lines are now outsourced overseas, and if you try and call you are ether on hold for ages (shortest I experienced was to have Voicemail removed was 40 minutes - TIMED. Countless times I have called and the call was terminated. I know it was terminated because I was using handsfree and I had ample coverage (believe it or not), I heard the greeting and then the call was terminated... before the issue was explained let alone resolved.

MAKE THE MOST OF NOW??? NOT WITH VODAFONE. Obviously Ricky Ponting is Captaining the Team that deals with Coverage and Customer Service.

The problems started when they started when they started when they started outsourcing their customer service lines to Mumbai, India, Egypt. When it was in Hobart - Service, Price and Coverage were brilliant. Never had a problem. Start sending Customer Service to Overseas and that starts to fail and then the prices go up. Merge with 3 who doesn't want to cover Tassie... then your service coverage begins to fail.... I am starting to see a Pattern here Vodafone!

7742 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is offering false incentives to drum up business at 28 Dec 2010 08:48:51 PM
I signed up for a 2 year contract with Vodafail around August / September. Come October I receive my bill by email with a banner at the bottom claiming that if I add a 2nd mobile to my account I will get 2 months free access.

As my partner was in need of a new phone I signed up for the 2 months free access deal.

The November bill arrived - containing charges for BOTH plans. I figured paying for the 1st months access then getting the next 2 free was reasonable. So I paid that one.

Then the December bill arrives..... ANOTHER charge for the "free" access mobile.

It was time to call "customer support" (which I usually try to avoid doing as the whole LARA process makes me angry... But that's another complaint all together.) After leaving my number and receiving a call back about an hour later (so much for their 16 to 25 minutes) I explained to the lady on the other end about the deal and the bills. She put me on hold for another 20 minutes only to come back and tell me that the deal does not exist.

I brought her attention to the emailed bill I have received direct from Vodafail offering this deal and offered to forward it to her. I was put on hold for another 35 minutes...

When she came back she told me that yes, it does exist and that (apparently) my next 2 bills will be credited - but I still have to pay the access for this month's bill.

Let's see when / if this credit will appear. If it doesn't appear on my next bill I will be contacting the TIO.

28 Dec 2010 08:47:37 PM: And don't get me started on the drop outs, non-contacatbility of either of these mobiles, the hours spent waiting for sms's to come through, the longer times pent waiting for MMS to come through, the phone not ringing or showing any missed calls but miraculously coming up with voicemail messages, the slow to non-existant internet coverage or the ineptitude of the customer support employees I've dealt with so far...

I have been wrongly billed by Vodafone. I paid my last months bill on time at the post office. This month I received a new bill from Vodafone with overdue fees of 20$ whacked on top of a 29$ cap contract, asking me to pay the allegedly unpaid bill again. I have tried to contact Vodafone to sort this out, but they make me wait on hold and never pick up the phone. I also emailed this problem to Vodafone, so far it has been four days and no reply. The longest I have had the patience to wait on hold on 1555 is about 45 minutes, then I hang up. This happened a couple of times. The number 1555 is supposed to be for free for Vodafone customers, yet my bill showed 60$ fee for these calls altogether. In addition, I was told by three Vodafone agents that my phone will work in Ireland, but when I arrived there, it did not work. I complained about this to Vodafone, and the reply I got was: "You were advised by our agent, that your phone would not work in Ireland". This was a blatant lie, but I did not pursue the matter. Vodafone is a handful. Thanks for listening!

On the day that Julia Gillard became Prime Minister I spent 2 hours on hold trying to get through on a land line as I had no mobile reception. I am a real estate agent so having no phone means I can't make money. Since the start of December my phone reception has been dropping out but 2 weeks ago I spent 2 days with no phone reception at all, the worst thing was it took me a day to realise my phone wasn't on, it looked on and was on, just no calls getting through. Then my grandma took ill and had days to live and I found out 24hrs later as I wasn't getting any calls, not even texts. Now if I send a text i get 2 and every 2nd text sent out seems to work. Vodafone have grown too big and can not maintain their service, it is totally unacceptable.

Both my partener and my own phones keep dropping out unexpectedly and the reception is marginal at best, regularly. I have phoned vodafone regarding theses issues and have not recieved a response as I was totally frustrated with the wait time for a response.
Considering I have been a Vodafone customer for in excess of 10 years, there infrastructure has not kept a breast of growth or technalogical advancement.
Anyone can sponsor a team from formula 1 to cricket, surely sponsorship is based on the results achieved not promised! Should one of these teams let vodafone down I'm sure Vodafone would "pull" sponsorship! Likewise applies here I will be "pulling" my support of Vodafone ie close my account based on there performance.

I used to have full service at work and home. I now have 1 bar service (no 3g) in the CBD, and i have either no service or 1 bar, living 15mins out of the city..

I have spent probably close to 6 hours on the phone (on hold) to Vodafone in the last few weeks.
Even after the Vodafone guy came out and admitted to the network issues, the tech support
people continued to tell me there is no network issue, and it is my phone.
I then read out the press release to the CSO who then hung up on me!

*On Sunday a friend sent me a picture message around 12 midday. I received it today at 8am*

I currently have a case in with the TIO (who have passed the 10 day deadline), and i doubt i will get the resolution i require... out of my contract with no cost. I do want to keep my iphone4... if i DO need to send it back, fine, but i dunno what good a used phone will do for them....

Also, I have been with Vodafone for about 10 years now, and in the past never had many problems with them other than some stupid billing ones, but since the merger, i cannot believe how fast their decline has been.

7633 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is permenantly on hold at 28 Dec 2010 07:51:48 PM
The week before Christmas my mobile was stolen while I was in Manila. It took 3 hours and multiple calls before I could finally get through to customer care & report the theft. 3 hours is long time no matter where you are but a particularly expensive one when you're overseas (and the thief is making the most of it!).
After almost 13 years and countless issues I had had enough. I called them when I got home to lodge a complaint & cancel my contract, only to be told my call could not be taken. I had to call again and again to finally get through to leave my phone number for them to call me back. After an hour and a half they finally returned my call. I stood my ground, telling them I wanted to cancel my contract immediately. I refused to pay any penalties even though I still had 7 months left under contract. After 13 years the least they could do was give me my freedom.
I have to admit that up until 2 years ago I was happy enough with the service to overlook the reception issues. I'm now with iPrimus and can't tell you how good it is to talk to someone in Australia whenever I need service. I'll never use Vodafone again!

Constant dropping out of network coverage and receiving text messages in bulk or days later than when they had been sent even. Many phone calls to vodafone for up to 1hour and 50mins being on HOLD later and still no reason from them to my complaint. I also frequently get "message sending failed" notices when tryingo to reply...Ridiculous given Eltham is supposedly in Vodafone's 3G coverage area and I was explicitly told by staff that Eltham would be fine for coverage before signing up to this contract...Don't even get me started on the customer support...40 minutes on hold to be told somebody would call me back in another 40 minutes...Only to be called back 2 hours later from the wrong department and put on hold for another 30 minutes while they transferred me to the right department.

As if the constant drop outs not enough, now I have no reception in Berwick, VIC.
Can not make out going calls, can not receive incoming either. My iphone 3GS shows 4 bars network availability but can not call out or receive. This problem started just two weeks ago. I tried every option and Vodafone haven't got any solution for me!
Today Vodafone asked me to change my SIM and that didn't help either. At 3PM, I decided to call the technical service. Made several attempts and after 4 hours on hold (on and off) no one was able to transfer me to network issues department. Twice I was told someone would call me, it is now 9PM and I am still waiting!
Telstra is now looking pretty good, I will now take this matter to Ombudsman, leave the contract without paying any penalty...

Vodafone, good luck with the merge...well done, great stuff up...

After a week of no internet usage and countless efforts and wasted credit trying to get it to work i rang Vodafone, was on hold for 25 mins until someone answered only to be told "You have a poor signal, all you can do is keep trying" I'm sorry, WHAT!!! TO be told again "You have a poor signal, all you can do is keep trying" I explained that i was logging on everyday and using up my credit to try and get on and was told "Sorry ma'am, keep trying and if you want a credit go to a store and ask for one". How about NO!!! How about your service stinks and I will no longer be using this service. PATHETIC!!!

7536 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hire More Staff! at 28 Dec 2010 06:55:38 PM
I called at 1.30am in the morning regarding a billing error and still waited 50mins on hold. When speaking to the operator in India he told me that there was 7 staff on at that time looking after all whole Vodafone international network. What a joke. I'm sure it would not cost that much more to hire more staff in India.

98% coverage??? I don't know where. Must be anywhere and everywhere I don't live, have lived, travelled to etc. I am sick of drop outs. am sick of being on hold forever. I am sick of text messages arriving a couple days later., I am sick of receiving voice messages a couple of days after they try to call. WHATEVER!!!
Vodafone, pick up your game. We as customers don't need this and definitely don't want this shody service.

where do I start. Firstly the many sms messages that people send me and I don't receive till the next day. Continued phone drop outs. The most painful is when I try to ring up and complain I like obviously many other people are put on hold for at least half an hour at which point I hang up and try again. Once Lara stuffing understands what the heck I am ringing up about and gets me through to the correct department I am on hold again for at least half hour at which point I give up or if I do get on I get an operator that can't understand what I am talking about and that tells me there is no problem with the network. The last straw for me is my daughter has just changed her mobile over to telstra. And, what a surprise I can't ring her anymore because I am with vodaphone. She can't receive any calls or txts from, you guessed it! Anyone on vodaphone. But of course when I finally got on to vodaphone about it after an hour, it was teltra's problem. As soon as my contract is up Im moving over to another provider for good.

my partner and i dont have a mobile phone with vodafone, instead we opted for the wirless internet. when we signed our contract, the sales man assured us that even though the reception in cairns was not optimal at the time it would be upgraded to the same speed and reception of other wireless broadbands on offer from telstra and optus within 3 months of us signing the contract. after 6 months and no upgrade we went back into the store, and they assured us that the upgrades were coming, that they had just been delayed, and that they should happen within the next 2 months. it has now been nearly 2 and a half years and our service still has not improved at all. if we are lucky we have about dial up speed. that is if we have a signal, and if the reciever doesnt forget that it is plugged in, (and my personal favorite) or we have reception and a device, but we have no upload or download speed, so the whole thing is useless. we have contacted vodafone by phone, and after being on hold for over an hour, i hung up. we contacted them by email, and recieved nothing, so finally we went back into the store, where the same man that sold us our contract and reassured us when we went back in to check on the progress of the upgrades, pretty much wiped his hands of us and said " too bad".

And if u think all of this is bad, u havent heard the best part. our contract was up at the end of august 2010. just before the end of the contract we contacted vodafone to inform them that we would not be renewing the contract. thinking that it was all said and done, we signed a new contract with telstra. appox 4 months down the track, we are informed by my partners bank that vodafone is still taking its direct debit each month, so we check and sure enough our device is still activated and working. the contract never ended. thinking that it must have been some kinda mix up, we go into the same cairns store (as there is only one in town) and ask them to not only end the contract, but stop the direct debit and refund our money that they have illegaly taken. (this is where it gets good) to which we were told that they dont have a clue which is our contrac as there is over 20 contracts for wireless internet in cairns issued with the same name as my partner, so not only could they not cancel the contract, they could not stop the direct debit and they could not refund the money essentially stolen. after another month of fighting with the company and getting no where, we cancelled our telstra contract as we can only afford one lot of internet a month, and we are stuck with this shit until someone pulls there fingers out and fixes the problem
28 Dec 2010 07:16:57 PM: Next time contact your bank and explain the situation and cancel the direct debit authorisation :)

7511 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is shit at 28 Dec 2010 06:48:54 PM
My problems with vodafone started a year and a half ago, three months after i got a plan with them. First I asked to get my bills via mail as i did not have a computer at home, but i got them via email anyway, so i changed it again to get bills via mail. I still did not get any bills by email or mail at all. So i called them again to get the missing bills resent to me,by mail and email but still did not receive them. I would call them all the time asking where my bills where, and asked them to send them to me all the time, as i was not going to pay the bill if i could not see the bill, as i was on a $99 cap and they would tell me that my bill was over $150 and i could not work out how i would have gone over my cap that much, as i was very carefull and did not call people very much cause as i had free text messages. I received letters saying that they where going to take me to court for over $1500 of bills that i did not receive regardless all the contact i had with them over not getting my bills, so i would only pay the $99 to cover my cap, as i did not have any proof of what my bill was. I could never get onto the internet through my phone, all it would do was keep loading. I always had problems getting in touch with the right person in vodafone to discuss my problems, I was just getting put from one person to another over and over every time, or put on hold for very long periods of time. I am no longer with vodafone and have gone with optus prepaid, and i have never had a problem with them. My partner also is with vodafone and when he sends me a text i receive it up to 3 times, but he only sent once and has been charged for sending it 3 times, even though his phone indicates it sent once. When i send him a text he will receive a text i sent from weeks ago and he does not receive the one i sent him on that occassion until a few weeks later. So over a period of months he will finally receive the texts i sent him weeks ago. This is still happening every day and has got worse over the last six months. I still have my debt with vodafone and still have not received my bills. I am not going to pay the bill untill i receive it to check and see how it got so high. I wont the debt cleared, as this problem was not my fault.

7510 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREMELY at 28 Dec 2010 06:48:52 PM
So, living in Parramatta (only 3o mins from the Sydney CBD) i would have thought that reception and service would go hand in hand and that both would be exceptional, being that i live in the biggest city in Australia, oh how wrong ive been! Since commencing with Vodafone (after Optus screwed me over) i was assured that Vodafone was the company that could provide me with a great plan with generous limit ($139 unlimited cap) and outstanding service and reception. How wrong i have been! I signed a 24month contract (standard for the Telco industry) and have rued the day i contacted Vodafone. Since day 1, April 2010, i have never been able to use voicemail, even though i have been assured that it has been activated on my phone, which was great when i was in a dead end job and looking for another one! No voicemail, meant i had to continually call back numbers i didnt know! On top of this, my actual reception has been nothing short of sub standard. When i have 3G, i still may only have 2 or 3 bars of reception! I have contacted Vodafone on numerous occassions and have been assured that there was a "know issue in Sydney and it will be fixed shortly". So this must be a massive issue if its still persisting! As an avid iPhone user i have a large number of apps, which i use most daily, and yet being that reception is low or non-existent they take forever to load. Again i have contacted Vodafone and was told "theres no issues in your area, it must be you. There is no problem with out network". Well thanks for that India, but im sure that constantly resetting my phone and wanting to launch it off my sixth floor balcony means that there is an issue, but thanks anyway. So, this was after waiting on hold for 45mins! Then i was transferred from the technical team to the sales department. This time the young girl i got was actually able to speak english and actually understood what my problem was. Halelujah i thought, but when i asked if i could upgrade i was told that this was not possible as i was in a contract! So yeh, fun! Again i was told there was nothing wrong with the network or my phone, but if i felt the need i could purchase another handset! Yeh right!!! So, all care and no responsibility! I pay for a service that im really not getting. How is it Vodafone can afford to sponser the cricket (and the Australian teams performance is just as dismal as the Vodafone network) but can't fix the network that their millions of customers are forced to pay for. Service....i dont think they know what that word means!!! So, after many calls to Vodafone and nil result and still the poor service and reception im glad that finally the consumer has a way of being able to vent about what we are being forced to pay for! Im sure if i didnt pay by bill on time, Vodafone would be pretty quick to take action and disconnect my service!

I was on prepaid and never had a problem, then I switched to a plan with my new phone. Now I can't talk to people in my house, I need to go into the backyard. Plus my internet on my phone doesn't work half the time, I am restarting my phone several times a day. I had a broadband usb stick and it was worse than unwired and dodo! I called them several times, being on hold for an hr each time and after a week of 'investigating' they said there was nothing they could do about it. I returned it and now have blink which is run by optus and it is very fast. Oh and I live in Newtown so right near the city, and still no coverage.

7466 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Worst at 28 Dec 2010 06:36:30 PM
Being on call 24/7 with a Marine Rescue Unit and living just 8.5kms from Brisbane City, on the South side, you would think you would have more than 2 bars at any given time around the house. It's easier for my crew to drive 5 minutes to knock on my door, than it is to try and contact me by vodacrap. If someone leaves a message, it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 11 hours for me to receive the message, if you can understand was is texted through to me from vodacrap. After speaking to the person who left the message with vodacrap, it appears vodacrap should enter "chinese whisper" competions.
The boss at work made the mistake of giving a vodacrap computer stick for work related use. The joke being, it very rarely works at home, and after being charged 3 times on my credit card, within a five day period for internet connection, i made the mistake of trying to contact the infamous costumer service department on the mobile. After 6 phone calls, and five dropouts on the mobile, then spending 53 minutes on hold to India, explaining 4 times the problem and being passed to 3 departments, they have assured me a refund within 10 working days. Thank god i had extra funds available in the account.
7 years of vodacrap in 2 different cities and Brisbane is actually worst for reception than Darwin. Have an appointment Telstra on Thursday afternoon. Fingers crossed their any better

7459 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mind blowing fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:35:51 PM
I signed up with them then when about to travel overseas, wanting international roaming turned on, thats all i was after.
while sitting at the airport waiting for my plane, I called the "customer service" line after 50 mins on hold my plane was boarding and had to hangup, going overseas without phone coverage.

Then, 3 months later when moving overseas i tried again, firstly going to a vodafone store, they told me they call the same number I do and may have to wait several hours.
So I though id just try again when at the airport. after over 1 hour on hold in the first attempt, then another 40 mins on hold an hour later ( had to hangup cause we moved areas and lost signal)

So now that I moved to newzealand, I emailed them (finally hunted down an address from their mess of a website.)
I told them i want to cancel my contract because of the horrid service.
They email me back stating they will send my final bill, they did, i got it in newzealand, but thought it's paid via direct debit.

Now the fun part.

8months later i move back to Australia, after no further contact from vodafone, not via the email address or actual post( I know they've got my address, i got the one letter)

I am greeted with a debt collection notice for $130 that when I call vodaphone they put me straight to the debt collectors office as soon as I give my details, not even telling me I'm bring transferred to a different company.

So i pay the bill, but afterward find out that I now have a flag on my name and nearly missed out on getting a home for my family because of a $130 debit.

No one at vodafone ever got back to me to clear my info or to let me ask why i was not contacted further regarding this outstanding amount.

I'll never go back to vodafone, not for ANY reason.
30 Dec 2010 06:03:25 PM: That sounds like a big load of shit. "Oh I am going overseas; might just leave it until I am about to board the plane to put international roaming on." Think about shit before you type it, internet warrior.
7 Jan 2011 09:11:26 AM: You are correct, a Telco default for even $130 can cost you a LOT more than the initial amount disputed in money, lifestyle and lost opportunity which you will never be compensated for. Telco defaults on people's CRAA's are one of the most common form of listings, damaging, and amongst the most expensive to remove, though the success rate is around 80%. Let me know if you want some assistance to try and remove it. PH

I have tried to call through numerous times and as I only had my vodafone mobile for a while, everytime I would try to call the customer service my phone would cut out whilst on hold. Sometimes I would be on hold for a period of 2 minutes and my phone would cut out. Anyhow one day I finally got through, it only took 4hrs!!!! ON HOLD FOR 4 HRS!!!!! They told me they would call back, which they did on my mobile that I was calling about ( It has NO reception I told them) so needless to say I didn't get the message until days later when I was in town and my reception decided to work! I could go on and on, I am still in the process of fighting this with them, but they have admited to me that they have found that I do indeed NOT have any reception and left my hubby with a reference number for me to follow up. The thing is It is so stressful having to explain myself everytime and being put on hold for hours each time, who has the time for this.

I first tried to upgrade the plan I use for work to get a new phone towards the end of August. "Yep sweet 4 week wait for phone to arrive" they say. 4 weeks LATER 1 HOUR ON HOLD. "Where is my phone?" I ask. " UH THERE IS A PROBLEM UPGRADING YOUR ACCOUNT SHOULD BE SORTED IN A COUPLE OF DAYS" they say.
1 week later another HOUR ON HOLD. " THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN SENT TO TECH SUPPORT DEPARTMENT, YOU HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO HIGH PRIORITY, WE WILL CALL YOU.
1 week later another HOUR ON HOLD. not resolved.
I wait 2 weeks, call, 45 mins on hold " I ASSURE YOU WE ARE WORKING ON IT YOU ARE ON HIGH PRIORITY."
1 more week, 1.5 hours on hold, " there is no problem you can upgrade now phone will be there within 4 weeks"
Beginning of DECEMBER... "WHERE IS MY PHONE? I AM GOING TO GO TO THE OMBUDSMAN."

They decide that while they are trying to resolve the problem they will put my NO PLANS on to a new contract and swap the terms across to my work # when it is resolved, then reinstate my NO PLANS (no plans doesn't exist any more)

YEAH LIKE THATS GOING TO HAPPEN. FIX MY NUMBER VODAFONE.......

We're in cyclone season in Darwin and I'm on call in the event of a cyclone. Unfortunately Vodafone network goes offline during even minor storms. First call to customer service basically blamed me for living in Darwin. 2nd call ended with me on hold for 2.5hrs before they hung up on me. 3rd call had me on hold for another 2hrs and no result. 4th call had me on hold for 1.5hrs, Vodafone agreed to waive my bill for my two phones for three months, still shitty coverage.
5th call was to telecommunications onbudsman. Vodafone call me and get stuck into me for not trying harder with their customer service people.
Last call was to Telstra to change carrier.

Husband and i have been a reliable customers of Vodafone for over 10 years, On 4th Dec, We decided to upgrade our phones, went to the Vodafone store and signed up on another 2year contract, since that day i have had 3 replacements of the same phone and my husband has had 2. We had enough, After being on hold for 40+ minutes many many times, (one time over 2 hours) told customer services that we want to change handsets completely they said go back to the store, and when i get to the store they say they cant authorise that and we have to take the phones home and get the customer service centre to send out new (different) handsets, customer services said because we got them in the store we have to get them to change the handsets , am getting the major run around,... have 2 phones and cant use them, but are still getting charged for contract, said cancel the contract, keep the phones and was told i would have to pay out the contract.
The customer service centres and the stores are pathetic... left hand has no idea what right hand is doing, VERY VERY POOR FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPANY...

After receiving an out of the ordinary phone bill for well over $300 for one month, I requested a fully itemised account from Vodafone. 4 months later, 7 phone calls, each time having to wait on hold from 30 to more than 45 minutes, I have received 5 copies of my original invoice (without the itemised call details). During my 5th phone call to Vodafone, I became frustrated, requesting to speak with either their supervisor or someone in Australia, both of which was refused. When I called the 7th time, I didn't bother explaining the problem with the CSO, but requested I be put through to the floor supervisor immediately. After fully explaining exactly what I want, the supervisor still emailed me the original invoice. I've now forwarded the issues with our Communications Ombudsman and am now waiting for contact from Vodafone. Of course, even though I've kept paying the payment plan on my mobile, they've cut off my phone service, which was poor anyway, especially once we leave Adelaide metro area. I'm so appalled at Vodafone's service and intelligence, especially considering this is my 3rd phone contract with Vodafone and I even convinced my partner to get a Vodafone mobile early 2009. Never again will I sign up with Vodafone nor will I ever recommend Vodafone to anybody again. What happened to them? Why have they outsourced their service centre to an overseas location, who can't even understand nor speak simple English!!!

7350 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely at 28 Dec 2010 06:15:12 PM
After switching to Vodafone in August and within 4 weeks of using their network I knew I was in trouble. I have tried to call Vodafone since end of September 2010 and have had absolutely no success. The 1555 number is Moombai and they have absolutely no idea of how to fix the problem. When I try to explain that I have no service on my phone in MANY areas of the Gold Coast they cannot relate because they don't know the areas I am trying to explain.

I have been on the phone 5 times for over one hour each and with a promise of them "escalating" my situation and a call back within 5 days. Surprise, surprise never have I received a call back. Their solution was to manually search for a network each time!!!! Another solution pull my phone apart put it back together and turn it on - "What happens?" - NOTHING!!! Use my sons phone and maybe mine will come back on in a couple of days - uuum he is with Vodafone too.

I called the Australian line of 13588 (by accident) - and they too promised to escalate my problem and a call back within 5 days. The latest "5 day turn around call" expired on Thursday 23.12.10. Absolutely, positively get back to you - GUARANTEED! Yeah right!

1555 do not call you back and they keep you on hold for a minimum of 1 hour.

I know I have lost business due to the lack of service. I am on a 2 year $99 per month plan and am only 4 months into the plan. I can't use the "unlimited" access to the internet because there is no service. I don't have enough "bars" to make a call and can only text or email.

I reported my issue with TIO last Monday 20.12.10. I also lodged a compliant through Vodafone website on Monday with the promise of a response within 5 days which expired on Friday 24.12.10

I want OUT! And I want compensation for port out charges they were supposed to cover from the previous network of $1,500 - we have 9 mobiles between my husband and my business.

Signed up for a 2 year contract 1 month ago after being told by the vodafone sales rep there was full coverage in my area of Sydney.
Result:
I have online coverage less than 50% of the time. When i do manage to get online, i'm lucky if it'll last more than a minute.
Calls regularly drop-out.
It's not rare for me to have to use my home phone to call customer support... calling 1555 or the 1300 number on my mobile doesn't work... won't even ring. When i do use my home phone i sit on hold for 30 mins +. I've sat through the wait a couple of times now, reached a customer support employee and then had the call drop-out. Very frustrating!! The last time i called customer support the electronic voice began to break-up and sat on repeat like a broken record. FAIL!
I will give vodafone a chance to sort out this mess but if there are no improvements soon they will never have my business again!

I have been a loyal vodafone customer since 2000 and whithin the last 6 months i have had nothing but cronic pain with them. In July i upgraded to and Iphone, upgraded my plan and the next month i got a bill for $1200, including 2 different contract charges a contract cancelation charge and an excessive data charge, it took me 6 months nearly and to lodge a complaint with the TIO before i could have all but the monthly fee waved due to the incompetance of the customer service staff. They did not start my new plan when they said they would thus incurring the data charges, they did not update my account properly thus incurring the contract cancellation fee and since then i have not been able to use any data and barely make calls without it failing at home, So basically i pay $120 a month for a fone and data contract i can't use when i'm home. This is outrageous and i'm stuck with it for 18 months unless i pay out the contract/ fone finance deal so i can port to a different carrier.

I would almost vote that Vodafone is now the worst mobile provider in Australia and have the worst customer service i have ever experienced with being on hold for crazy amounts of time and honestly can anyone understand what the damn operators that "CLAIM" to be in say melbourne for example but clearly have a crazy strong totaly impossible to understand accent YEH RIGHT.

Something needs to be done!!!

7305 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massive Failure at 28 Dec 2010 06:05:28 PM
I could go on and on for hours about how much I HATE Vodafone. Having signed up for a Wi-fi usb & a mobile plan for my business, Vodafone promised great coverage & 5GB of data. I got to the point that I was SO frustrated with the constant call drop outs, internet disconnecting, hour + wait when calling 1555 and the fact that to take a call I needed to stand in the field outside my house - I blew up. I rang Vodafone maybe 15-20 times over 3 days, only to be hung up on 3 times, calls never returned and one "Team Leader" Jared was so unhelpful and rude, I had almost lost hope. All I wanted was OUT of the plans, and to not pay the $1500 they were asking of me "because I moved house". Apparentely, if you move house, you should check your Vodafone service first and move according to where you get service- but no one can tell you where this is written in the contract. I had it out with one woman (and I have to say I was very restrained considering I was FURIOUS) and eventually agreed on a deal to get out of both deals for a certain amount - she told me to sign up with a "better" provider and suggested Telstra (ha!) and said as soon as I registered with them, they would send the final bill. I signed up with Telstra that day. I have since received 2 normal monthly bills. The thought of calling them and sitting on hold for over an hour is too much for me right now, and I will deal with it in the New Year - all I want now is out of the contract and I'm not willing to pay at all. I hope this lawsuit goes ahead, because someone has to do something. If it's reception you're after - hit Telstra.

7303 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 06:05:01 PM
I recently moved from Telstra to sign 4 new services with Vodafone.
MISTAKE!!!
Nothing works......MMS takes days to send and receive, voicemail is received 2-3 days after they have been sent and the phone drops out of 3G reception so often that my business associates can never get a hold of me and my data services are nothing short of a joke.
I predominantly use my phone at My Gravatt, 7km's from Brisbane CBD, and Main Beach, 2.5 km's from Surfers Paradise. You'd think these areas would deliver great range.....NOT!
A phone and data service in a metro area should deliver seamless service that shouldn't require any of your attention at all. No-one should have to deal with performance issues on the hour, every hour, every day. Not to mention burning hours of our time on hold to offshore call centres who's care factor doesn't even rate ......we've all got better things to worry about.
Thanks for all the headaches Vodafone!
I want out but can't seem to get anyone at the other end of the phone to grant me a cancellation of my contract. Any help from anyone on this forum would be appreciated.
There is nothing good about vodafone.
Please......get me out of this!

I have no service in my house or immediate area so cannot make or receive calls or SMS messages. Calls constantly either drop out or I get SMS messages days late and phone messages who knows when ? Sometime at 3 in the morning. This very frustrating when I pay for an unlimited plan. I also paid to unlock a handset and after10hour being put on hold promises to call that never happened the handset is still not unlocked. I have made 2 complaints in writing and have made complaints and spoken to supervisor/managers who are from another country and try but have no real understanding of what is going on.

I have been with vodafone for 10 years but will. Not renew my contract. This is just a glimpse.

My bills have been addressed to the incorrect name for over 3 years despite numerous requests to have it changed and numerous staff saying "Oh sorry, it's all fixed now".
When I phoned to make a complaint, I was on hold for over 2 hours and then finally got some Indian fool who told me "Sorry we're closed now and I'm the only one here so you can't speak to a manager... But I'll have one call you back tomorrow night". Well it's been 3 months and I'm still waiting on that phone call.
I had so many phones drop out despite my phone saying I had full coverage. I had voicemail messages coming through a week late.
I finally cancelled my contract but it cost me a couple of hundred dollars to do it!

Constant drop outs, on hold for 50 mins to be connected and drop out three times in a row... billing errors... anyone read this you need to know you can demand the write of an entire bill.... for your trouble. i have had $150 written off over the last month for their constant screw ups and being stuck on hold... also had no messages come through for hours then being flooded with 15+ messages...and poor reception.... iphone 4 combined with vodafone is an epic fail for reception....

7249 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Rediculous Invasion of Privacy!! at 28 Dec 2010 05:56:39 PM
About a month ago I reported vodafone to teo as somehow my husbands phone account had been muddled with another vodafone's customer. After a vigorous 3 days of constantly having a phone to my ear (mind you 95% of the time i was on hold) I continuously got told that they could not access my account without the correct personal information. I then got on my web account which had another ladies name as well as all of her information, bills and phonecalls. Finally after contacting TEO I got a phone call from a vodafone representative willing to listen. As my vodafone phone was out of action I had to rach up my optus bill which still sits at a total of $600 + as I simply can not afford to pay it. Vodafone keep telling me that they are compensating my account by giving me 9 months credit but since then they have added a subscription to the account which i've been told was authorised and is on contract which can't be canceled. I added no such thing to my account. Also I've still got the other customers details on my account page. And they refuse to take responsibility for my optus bill so i've got optus threatening debt collection etc...

the only sufficient compensation is for vodafone to cancel my accounts with them... and i'm not going to give up until this has happened.

7237 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is CRAPOLA at 28 Dec 2010 05:55:24 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer since mobile phones where first introduced and i have never had the problems like ive had in the last 12 months. I am running a business and i have lost endless amounts of clientel and money. People call me and cant get through italways says im on the phone and i dont get a txt saying i have voicemail for like 4 days later and by this time my clients have gone somewhere else. I had a family emergency last week and no one could get through to me for 2 hours. This is appauling. I am on a $99 cap and I have just received a bill with an extra $220 in call charges which i will be refusing to pay as i have to call people back at least 4 times in one phone call which means paying 4 flag fall fees. Here is a list of problems ive experienced in the last 12 months:

1. No service
2. Call failure
3. Call not possible
4. Dont receive txt messages for days later
5. Dont receive voicemail msgs
6. dissconnected from calls at least 4 times in one phone call
7. swirling sound when on a call and have to hang up and ring back
8. Every time i ring Vodafone im on hold for more than an hour and i have a newborn baby so i can never hold on instead i select an option for someone to ring me back once its my turn in the line. No one has ever rang me back.
9. Unable to send txt msgs cause it says my sim card is full.
10. Never able to log onto the Vodafone website as it never loads.
11. Vodafone is curently investigating my phone contract as i rang them and told them i wanted out of my contract an i was promised that someone would call me back within 72 hours. It has now been over a week and i still have not heard anything.

I also have wireless internet with Vodafone and received a bill for $800 being for extra internet usage over my 5G a month allowance. In 2 years i have never exceeded my limit with Vodafone. When i rang them they told me all this usage was the exact dates i was in hospital after i had my baby. How is this possible when me or my partner where not home. I refused to pay that bill.

7233 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 05:55:12 PM
I have my internet and mobile with vodafail and have had nothing but trouble with both of them. When I signed up for the net I was at pains to make sure that I would have internet coverage where I live, Glen Waverley, and was assured that I would have coverage. Well, in my house I amluckyto get one bar and I get kicked off more often than not. There is also a conflict with the mobile number assigned with the internet as I keep getting someone elses sms's.

My mobile has the same coverage issues but I also get no services, voice mails three days after the call was made (which never rang at my end), someone will sms mea picture and it'll take 2 or 3 days for it to get there.

So I rang them today and was on hold for about 40 minutes (apparently that's good after reading oter stories) then the only thing that they'd do for the net was to put the plan down to $5 a month for now,but when I go home after my holidays then I ring the technical support I go through the whole thing again.
The mobile issue was a laugh because all I got was the speal about how much money they were spending, how things were going to get better ect.... basically they said that there was nothing they could do (we tried the on and off, settings ect - hello like I hadn't already tried that) then I was told that they would be happy to unlock my phone as long as i paid the $25 which they would then credit to my account and then I go out and buy a prepaid sim card with another carrier to see if it works better in my phone or not. How stupied is that...... going straight to the ombudsmen now...

7223 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is where do i start? at 28 Dec 2010 05:54:08 PM
I also am experiencing the phone drop outs. Normally its about 1 minute in. I also go to call people and it doesn't connect. I also fail to receive messages on time. After calling vodafone and waiting on hold for half an hour the lady eventually said that i have call barrings activated (yes, I personally chose to block messages to my phone). For everyone out there who are having this problem dial #330*0000# and then it will say call barrings canceled.

I also had a problem paying my bill online, i called customer service and eventually managed to contact a vodafone phone answerer. I say it like this because I couldn't understand a word she was saying and visa versa. She told me that I could pay my bill over the phone but she couldn't guarantee that it would register as paid. She gave me a three day extension. I then since managed to pay it but three weeks on it still hasn't registered that ive payed even though its been taken out of my account. I went into the vodafone shop and told them about it and they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to contact customer care. What is the point of having a shop if you cant get help from them? Just there to make sales and faulty promises.

Also, my bill this month has miraculously gained a couple of dollars. From them sending me your bill is now due message, it now says after texting 1512 that its extra few dollars. Of course i cant get through to customer "care". Although I did email them. However i received an automated response listing nothing more then what was available on the internet. It then changed the status of my communication to "Solved" which meant no further action would be taken. I then replied to that response and got another email saying that it would be up to a couple of months due to "holiday" period before I would get a response.

I also fail to get reception for most of the day at work. I work in a well populated metropolitan area and still have no reception. Its pathetic.

My boyfriend took his phone into the store to get fixed, after telling him that it would be fixed withing 2 weeks and no phone replacement phone could be offered he contacted them 3 months later to find out what was going on. They said they had been trying to contact him. He found out they were ringing his mobile number (after he had requested they ring his work phone). How helpful. Little did they know he had borrowed an old phone from a friend and had no miss calls over the period of that 3 months.

Lara, the automated phone answering service is pathetic. Its ridiculous and it takes over 5 minutes to get transferred to a help department who then put you on hold.

Their bill checking service also conveniently is unavailable towards the end of the billing period so you can not check your balance and adjust usage accordingly .One day, you've got $100 left, the next day your minus $20 when only 10 messages were sent.

In summary, I'm am so unsatisfied with the service Vodafone provide and cannot wait to get out of my contract! Kudos for bringing this lack of service to the public's attention and getting the majority to unite to force Vodafone to act.
