Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9257 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Reception at 30 Dec 2010 06:54:32 PM
I popped into my local store today to discuss with them as to why i cant seem to get reception in certain areas and why my calls always drop out and when my friends try to call it says my phone is off yet i can have full reception at that time. The Reply i was given by my store was " there was a thing on the news if you watched it you would know and that i need to call their customer service number". Annoyed i walked out. Comeon Vodafone get your act together this is not good enough i should be able to get reception anywhere and calls should not drop out. Sincerly - ANNOYED CUSTOMER -

9232 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is very very big fail at 30 Dec 2010 05:42:30 PM
I called vodafone on 27th December to report network issues, I was speaking to the customer service department about the cost to cancel my contract for both my services, the person i spoke to asked why, told him because of network issues, he told me i could lodge a complaint with technical services and if they couldn't fix my issues they would cancel my contract with no cost to me. I was then placed on hold for 45 minutes. When my call was answered, the operator asked what area i was in, as i was at my brothers i gave her his address, however did tell her that is not where i lived and was not experiencing issues there. She never asked me what my address was. This lady was exceptionally rude and kept talking over the top of me. I told her that i wanted to lodge a complaint - she told me she would need an alternate number to contact me on, i tried to tell her that i had no other contact number as i have no landline, she told me she couldn't help me unless she could call me on another number. i asked to speak to someone else as she was not listening to me and preferably in australia as this is where i live, she told me she could not do that as all calls go to India. I hung up on her. I later received a call from her supervisor to whom i said i could not speak at that time. she then called me back at 7am the next morning.. as i write this i am on hold to vodafone and have been for 34.15 mintutes, however they keep assuring me someone will be with me soon!!

Been with Voda for years now. Ever since the full integration with 3 I have had issues. Just got off a corporate plan onto an Infinite plan. Got lied to by the 3/Voda rep about tethering charges. Customer service chumps don't know anything that isn't written in front of them. Reception barely maintains 3G and drops out a lot. I used to be on 3 years ago and left them to go to Vodafone. Now I'm back to the same issues I was with when I was with 3.

9191 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very fail - deceitful as well at 30 Dec 2010 04:15:06 PM
Mobile Broadband, was unable to connect, massively frustrating dropouts and client problems on Windows 7 (client issues were much less problematic on Windows XP) No problems with sending me bills right on the dot though.

I Worked out a solution that gets you very quick satisfaction from their Indian support team though:

After about 1.5 hours of calling and going through menus, I finally got onto the customer service guy when they rang me back. Told me their systems were down so couldn't cancel my account. I told him he was lying to me as there was no automated message when I first rang as has been previously when there was problems. I said I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He told me the supervisor is so busy and will be half an hour and still unable to help me as the system is down. I was told to call back in 4 hours over and over. I demanded to speak to the supervisor and said repetevely (your LYING to me, the system is not down*), and was promptly told I wasn't being lied to and after a couple of times saying this, was directly put onto a supervisor.

The supervisor told me the exact same thing (call back in 4 hours, nothing they can do). I said again and again, 'your LYING to me, there was no recording when i rang, your lying, I want to cancel my mobile broadband'. He said, hang on one momemnt. Put me through to cancellations where the lady discconected my service quickly and polietly within 3 minutes.

* Looks like they are attempting to stall people from disconnecting by saying a whole range of things (stalling you). I reccomend saying 'Your Lying to me' 'and Record my call' over and over during the call and they will respond very quickly and you will get what you want done. Don't say these things in a abusive way, just in an asertive way.

At the end of the day, they WERE lying to me!
30 Dec 2010 05:45:15 PM: Not necessarily, different depts are in diff locations it's possible that there systems were down but whereever they transferred you to were not, the reason they didn't want to transfer you was to save transfer as it is a statistic they have to meet.

9177 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful!! at 30 Dec 2010 03:43:12 PM
I have recently switched from 3 mobile to vodafone less than a month ago and now i rarely have more than one bar of reception wherever i go and i am rarely able to send an sms or make a call without some sort of hassle!! The service is horrible, i had no problems on 3 and now i am stuck with the shitty vodafone service. Also, when i bought my phone i had to ring customer service to activate my sim which i was unable to do for 2 days as "customer care" constantly put me on hold for 40mins and then hung up on me!! Finally after getting through, asked to speak to complaints department then was once again hung up on, disgusting!!

9153 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is extreme at 30 Dec 2010 02:55:44 PM
I've had a Vodafone mobile for a while now and I have no HUGE problems with it except when I try to contact customer service using LARA. BUT I HAVE HUGE problems with their internet and accessing good customer service from Mumbai in India.

Besides my mobile, I subscribe to mobile internet. It can take me 1 hour to connect only to get constantly booted - it's worse during bad weather - wind, cloud, rain. I have been trying to post a customer request via the internet for the past 3 hours - I keep getting booted. I am also trying to contact Vodafone via my mobile and have been on hold for over 1 hour with LARA telling me to hang in there.

I am quitting both my mobile and internet with Vodafone and I will be joining the class action.

9151 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Sporadic at 30 Dec 2010 02:50:20 PM
For several months Vodafone have been inconsistent with providing me with MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE as well as MOBILE INTERNET ACCESS. I have spoken with dozens of staff from their Customer Services, Faults and Network departments including Management, all in India and Egypt? They usually explain the problem away by informing me that they are doing maintenance in my area and that this will improve my service. This answer did not satisfy me after hearing it repeatedly, so I eventually asked them which areas are affected and how long it would be before my service would be reinstated. They then told me that the whole of my area, Parramatta, was affected, but would all be fixed soon. The funny thing is that I don't live in Parramatta, I don't even live in NSW!! The main issues with my mobile phone involve text messages not being received for 24 hours or longer, or in some cases being sent repeatedly maybe five or six times. I have no control over any of this, nor sometimes any idea of when it is happening, but not only has it cost me loads of money in lost business, it has also cost me excessive phone costs whilst it is happening. I am extremely fed up! I am reluctant to change back to Telstra as I have had major problems with them in the past, as well as Optus who began billing me for a phone service I did not even have connected!! I have utilised the TIO for these complaints, but as they are so bombarded with complaints it usually takes months before the problems are addressed, and in my case the TIO appeared quite powerless against the huge bully phone company so the issues were definitely not resolved to my satisfaction. I support any fight against any telephone company.
30 Dec 2010 03:08:51 PM: I agree with you thoroughly and I have felt your pain. I left Telstra and Bigpond because they hold close to a monopoly (I prefer not to shop at Coles or Woolies either), but I guess I'll be going back to them. At least their service is better than the alternatives, even though we pay through the teeth for the services! I hope the National Broadband Network makes a big difference.
30 Dec 2010 05:06:19 PM: NBN that is a failed business model will not work basic connection $ 56.00 at 12 megabits per second speed . No body has said how many GB per month that will buy, NBN guess is about enough to check the email some were between 2 GB and 10 GB , i will be keeping my TPG at 6 megabits per second and very competitive pricing thank you the politicians have had the wool pulled over there eyes again Telstra is already selling 30 megabits speed plans in Sydney or Melbourne now maybe able to get 100 megabits with newer technology. I wont be changing over just wont be able to afford a decent limit.

I am writing my concern about my cell phone service curring having diffuclty with VODAPHONE. I beleive if I write in here then i might get some response to my issue. I called there customer service but had waited hours but no luck to speak with any one. Network droping is giving me a lot of pain and at the same time some people misunderstood me for not being able to contact to me. I would new mobile connetor not to connect with Vodaphone at least not for 3/6 months until this issue has been resolved. I would not be paying my monthly contract money for this poor service.

9127 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is poor service at 30 Dec 2010 02:15:59 PM
Vodafone service has been pretty good to me up until I started receiving no coverage at my partner's home in Newtown 4305 even though the Vodafone website clearly states that there is coverage in this area. My frustrations come from the fact that I am unable to send messages and receive messages, access the internet, make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls when I am in Newtown 4305. Basically, I might as well not have a mobile. It is a real inconvenience to me and I've had to purchase an Optus sim in order to gain access in this area. I am not a fan of Optus but in this instance they offer the service I require. I do not see how it is fair that I am in a contract with Vodafone and am paying for such a service but am not receiving the service that was promised to me when I entered into this contract with Vodafone. I have tried to contact Vodafone customer service lines to discuss this problem, the only problem with this is that I am placed on hold for long periods of time. I also submitted online emails explaining my situation to Vodafone customer service personnel only to receive a reply email saying that the issue had been resolved before they had any contact with me. My perception of Vodafone was once good and now I beg to differ...

A WARNING to all thinking of using Vodafone. I've always considered them to be the best. Not any longer. Customer service is only there to sell you a plan and or phone, nothing else. I, like so many have no service on my phone 90% of the time and sending a simple text message, well try 40 attempts for every 2 successful sent messages. Their service is rubbish. It's cost me hundreds of dollars up front for a service that does not work. Lost communication with my family and maybe even cost me my job....thanks SO much vodafone 'Power To You' and your Donkey Service!!!

9117 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Colosal!!! at 30 Dec 2010 02:02:54 PM
I am in customer service (NOT vodafone's) and have a spare phoneline next to the one I use for work. The spare line has now been renamed "the vodafone hold line" as I use it to be on hold from vodafone almost daily while I naively wait for HOURS to actually speak to a person to resolve my problems with the 2 vodafone mobiles I have. Problems include but are not limited to:
* calls dropping out mid conversation daily (phone is not the problem it has happened with my Sony, blackberry and Nokia all new)
* delayed receipt of voicemail/sms/mms (sometimes up to a week)
* Charging one of my phone accounts with monthly TV usage (this is the phone I have for my 13 yr old son. It is not capable of TV access. It is an E50! yet every month sure enough vodafone charges TV usage.
* They refuse to spell my name right on the bill yet expect me to pay it
* I don't get a response other than "we acknowledge receipt of your email" when emailing my complaints through! Good to know they've received my complaints but refuse to fix them (insert sarcasm here)
* Cap plans that include calls but not access to voicemail (is this a scam? I paid over $30 in voicemail usage charges last month because my calls weren't getting through and friends and family had to consistently leave me messages! My phone on and next to me the WHOLE time)
Funnily enough it isn't sufficient to have a line dedicated to being on hold from vodafone because even in the unlikely event someone picks up the line (yes it has happened several times!) it quickly proceeds to disconnect, prior to me getting any information out, ensuring my frustrations are ongoing and my problems never resolved....however my bills (which total about $350 per month)are expected to be paid and on time.
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo over it!!! Have never before experienced a company that goes so OUT of its way to NOT ascertain good service towards its customers.
My contracts are up in may and april of next year. I'll be ringing through to disconnect (if I can get through to someone who give a rats ...)
Get your act together vodafone.

9072 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is nightmare at 30 Dec 2010 12:38:16 PM
My husband and I both have Vodafone prepaid phones- I've had the same number for about 13 years and his about 7 years. My phone service has been up and down over the years but nothing too bad lately. My issue is with the Vodafone wireless prepaid internet. I paid the $100 for the USB stick and then purchased the credit for a months internet use (on three separate occasions. The internet was SO slow that it took at least 5 minutes to load ONE page most of the time so I hardly got any use out of it. Despite not downloading anything, my "usage" showed that I had downloaded heaps of data from both 3G and GPRS which was definitely NOT the case. I can't understand why the reception was so bad when both our mobile phones work fine in this same area but the computer would only ever pick up a very weak signal at best. I needed this internet access for university work and can't afford a plan (besides, I wouldn't trust them enough to sign a long contract- lucky I didn't). I think my lecturer stopped beleiving the same excuse about my abysmal internet reception after a while. My main issue really, like many others is the call centre. When I call I am asked the same identifying questions by each person I speak to, many of them are SO RUDE- I can't beleive they are in customer service. They talk to me as though I have never touched a computer or phone in my life- so condescending and they obviously know next to nothing- usually the old "turn it off and on" advice- as if I wouldn't have tried that before calling these geniuses. Reminds me of the show 'The IT Crowd'. The wait is astronomical- often 2-3 hours but worse is when I've been passed around to so many different people, given my details 5 different times and explained a fairly simple problem and I get cut off (or hung up on when they don't know how to respond). I think they need at least one or two people in these call centres with some actual IT/mobile phone/vodafone knowledge who the 'phone jockeys' can refer to for advice to solve what is often a simple problem without just reading from a troubleshooting manual like we could at home.

Callers ring me , they can hear me, but I can't hear them. Callers leave voicemail messages, but when I try to retrieve them the voicemail is blank. I can have full coverage on roaming one minute and "no network coverage" at the same place when a call comes in or I try to make one. I have been to the nearest store and the staff are obviously not allowed to say anything except "It must be your phone, we'll send it away for repair". Each time I ring customer service it is the same response. I'm now on my third phone this year and I still have the same, and more problems.

9041 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Where do I start at 30 Dec 2010 11:50:56 AM
Well, my wife and I have been with Vodafone for about 4 years now. Over the years we have had issues with network, data and customer service. We did complain with Vodafone regarding the network dropping out on a regular basis, and this used to happen in very centrally locate areas. They initially blamed it on the handset (which we had received as part of our contract from Vodafone), and then they said that we would be travelling through some "dead pockets" (can't really see Garden city being a "dead pocket"). We were told to restart our cell phones when we failed to get a signal, saying that restarting might get our phones to connect to a stronger signal (really don't know what that was all about). The problems with Vodafone became more apparent when we ordered new handsets after our contract had expired. We had requested our numbers to be transferred over to the new handset. An lo behold! The handsets arrived with new phone numbers and contract. So basically Vodafone decided to keep charging us for our old numbers and then give us totally new accounts so they can chanrge us on that too!! We called the customer support (which is based in India), and we literally spent an average of 1.5hrs each on 5 different conversations just to get all this sorted out. The reason of the 5 different conversations was because we had to call them back since they kept reassuring us after each conversation that the issue has been sorted out but it wasn't!! We wrote a 2 page letter to Vodafone head office outlining all the issues we had to deal with and their response was "since we haven't heard anything regarding this issue we assume that it has been sorted out. If you are unhappy with this resolution, please respond to this email within the next 72hrs". On top of that, the data plan we have, we would have rather not gone for it. It is just soooo slow!!!! I was extremely happy to find out that I wasn't alone in this "journey" with Vodafone. I hope they pay for it!!

Ok I have to say that up until about a month ago I thought this provider was not so bad. I have been with telstra and vodafone and was fairly happy. I was able to tolerate "just" the issues but now im just OVER IT! I am sick of ringing customer service, pressing a million buttons to get to where I want to be and listening to Lara for up to an HOUR! Then as if that isnt bad enough the person on the other line I cant understand and when I ask for them to please repeat what they are saying they get all shitty at ME! Not to mention the very good dodging of questions I ask. The service the past month has been crap. I will have full bars then when I go to make a call or connect to internet it dies saying "no service". I have just over a year left on my contract which I without a doubt will be going to another provider the second it runs out!

Although they have their call centres in asian countries for cheap labor, the wait time to talk to them is more then 30 freaking minutes.
i finish my contract with them in 4 months,
But i really think the Australian Government should see this website and have an idea what the customers are going through and Vodafone should compensate all the people who are in trouble.
-No network
-No network even in Roaming
-slow internet
-long waiting time to speak with a customer service representative
-Voicemail unavailable/delays
-voice breaks

30 Dec 2010 11:31:09 AM: so true the government should have seen this website!!
30 Dec 2010 11:50:13 AM: They definitely should, maybe when they get back from holidays!
30 Dec 2010 07:47:03 PM: They dont care, they have tax payer funded Telstra phones, remember the big bills they rack up, cast your memory back.... Just change to telstra, and ditch Vodafail.....
9 Jan 2011 10:06:36 PM: The Fed Govt does have a fall back for you: Contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman - they can actually order compensation be paid if you can prove your complaint. Good luck with it!
10 Jan 2011 04:37:02 PM: No..o.o.

9029 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Customer un-care at 30 Dec 2010 11:12:59 AM
1. Customer service is horrifically slow, and gets worse. Just got off the phone to 'Lara' who can never solve my queries, after waiting a bit for a customer service rep they said they will call me back in 30 minutes plus! Pathetic. When I was with Optus even as a lowly prepaid customer I never waited more than 5 minutes and was greeted with excellent customer service from a real person.

2. Network issues. People have complained about calling me and going straight to voicemail, but I had my phone with me at the time and didn't receive the call at all. 3G data speed for even the most basic apps, both in my hometown of Perth and on a recent trip to Sydney is very slow about 40% of the time. Unacceptable!!
Also, a few times a week, a new SMS I'm sending will refuse to send. Unacceptable!!!

Thanks for setting the site up, there were times I thought I was the only one!

Call failed is a common msg on my phone, not to mention a couple of 4 hour complete outages (this was for the whole of WA). Also a work colleage and myself were on different calls in the same vacinity of each other and the calls failed. I want out of my contract, I have never had such a poor service from a "professional" orgnaisation. I've rang vodafail 3 times, first time the recording said it would call me back and I wouldn't lose my place in the queue. I rang at 4pm. 10:30pm I got a call back, person I spoke to transfered me to a different department, that was closed, recording said "call back later" and then hung up on me. 2nd time I waited 20mins (the call actually stayed up) listening to music, then the recording changed to ringing. I listed to that for 8 minutes until I hung up. Third time I hung up after 25mins. I have 5 months of my contract left, I guess I'll just have to take the pain and transfer to Telstra, at least we will get service......

9013 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is as big a fail as the Titanic. at 30 Dec 2010 10:49:25 AM
I signed up three months ago, as my boyfriend also has a VodaFail account and we could get free calls to each other.

I constantly can't be connected, I'm out of service, it doesn't register calls, this morning I tried to send a MMS only to get a "generic network failure" message and now it's stuck on that and beeps at me every minute to tell me that my message has failed (obvious, much?). It's also hit and miss if I can get it to connect to the internet. I've pretty much given up on that part of the service.

The balance check system is a fail. I checked it a day before the end of my billing cycle, had $19 worth of cap left. Didn't make a call, three days later when the cycle comes through I have overspent $44 on my cap. To add insult to injury, to find out WHAT the extra charges were the result of no less than 15 attempts to call customer service, to finally reach an actual human being (I know, I was shocked too) who told me there was noting they could do than wait for the bill to arrive and then call back if I wished to dispute the charges.

And to address the person who believes that the calls drops, no service, delayed messaging, missed calls, I use a HTC Ledgend, my boyfriend a Nokia N97 (or maybe a N96) and we have the same issues.

9008 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is service/reception at 30 Dec 2010 10:46:01 AM
I had signed a vodafone contract at a retail store, at the point of sales the sales clerk did a search in my area and said it had coverage and the sale could go ahead. This phone contract was signed in mid 2009. After recieving the phone and taking it home all that appeared on my phone was either "no service" or "searching". i had called vodafone on numerous occasions and i was always transfered to india to speak with a customer service representative. When i had requested to speak to a australian they refused and said all i could speak with is the customer care team in india. the matter was left unresolved in 2010 i had called again and repeatedly asked for a australian based in australia i did speak to the suprivisor, they had promised on 2 occassions to send out a representative from vodafone to test my area for service as i had numerous complaints to the company. i was paying for a service i only recieved in the cbd or neighbouring suburbs. my area had been declared a black spot by most phone providers other then telstra so i knew my area had poor coverage but vodafone continuely kept saying my area was fine. it wasnt until mid 2010 i had enough and threatened to leave the company and they still did not conduct tests on my suburb for reception that they offered a $24 discount on my bill. I refuse to pay my bills as they have promised since august of 2009 they will fix the problem and they havent no one has been in contact with me like they promised to let me know of any updates i have 5 members in my family who are vodafone who live under the same roof who experience the same problem. i want the contract resindered with no cost to me because vodafone has not fulfilled their part of the contract.

9004 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Worse than useless at 30 Dec 2010 10:40:41 AM
Bought a New Xperia x10 mini pro.
Calls dropped out like crazy, and mms failed to function. Phone update to remedy some problems was not available from the carrier. Dropped in to store to see if it was the phone. Was told we have to call the help number. Spent an hour on hold to be told that at minimum the phone needs to be returned once for service.
2 weeks later, phone is returned, in the same condition, DESPITE an OS update being then available. Finally updated the phone's OS on our own, without help from Vodaphone.
MMS still doesn't work properly, and calls still drop out. Reception is abysmal, and we are about 2kms from the CBD. Walking from one room to another in the house cuts the signal. Messages routinely fail to appear until 6-12hrs late, by which time they are out of context.
A month's worth of credit was applied to the account, but piling MORE free rubbish on top of rubbish is hardly compensation.

In other hilarity, using voip on my ipod with microphone works better, and the in-app messaging from words-with-friends is more reliable and timely. Sure I can only use it from places with free wifi or wifi I have a key for, but it's more reliable than Vodafail.

8990 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shocking customer service at 30 Dec 2010 10:09:42 AM
I wait on hold on the phone for more than 30 minutes each time I try to call Vodafone with a problem. They don't seem to care at all about customer service, the service they do provide is shocking anyway. My partner and I started with Vodafone a little over a year ago becuase they had a free 'Vodafone to Vodafone' offer which we took up so we could contact eachother for free. Within months Vodafone started charging us for all the calls and text messages to eachother. Their invoicing system is a mess, randomly charging me $800+ with no reason at all!!! I refused to pay so now they have shut my phone down and I can't use it. Thanks a lot Vodafone.

The Network Coverage.

I stay in the Homebush area of Sydney and have been staying here since past 3 yrs. I do use the 3 / vodafone mobile phone service but have been having problems of the network coverage since a long time. I have had dropped calls, no network coverage and also been charged for download even though I do not use it at all. I did complain to the customer service but no positive reply from them. They did tell me that they have checked the connection tower and alls fine at their end so asked me to change the place where I stay, which was like come on. I can't change my house for the sake of a network error. After a long arguement with the customer service the only thing they do is give me a one off $10 credit for goodwill on my next invoice.

Its not only that but all my friends when they come to visit me have the same kind of network problem, dropped calls and no service most of the time.

After this I decide to cancel my contract but they want me to pay the whole 24 month contract plant of $49 for each month at once and they will cancel my contract. I was not able to pay off the whole plan at one go, so I decided to keep to hang on with it.

But am really disappointed with the service vodafone provides.

8975 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Off the chart at 30 Dec 2010 09:43:02 AM
In my business, I rely on the fact that my customers, staff etc can contact me no matter what. This does not occur with Vodafone, recently loss a major business deal as I did not get a answering machine message or text to my mobil for many hours. In fact the service has been slipping further into disfunction since January 2010. I like everyone else thought that it was my iphone or other phones that we have with Vodafone. In fact I had spent may hours on different days in at Apple complaining about their product was not working as expected. Apple to their credit replaced my phone. I purposely went to Apple after being told by Customer Service at Vodafone that my phone was to blame. Only when I told Customer Service several month later that Apple had confirmed that it was not my phone in error did the staff admit that they knew that this was the case. This is misleading and deceptive conduct on the part of Vodafone. Fortunately for me I have every conversation well documented and various proof from Vodafone supporting my case. Most people are understanding if a company is honest and upfront with issues, but Vodafone has intentionally mislead, as well incorrectly billing. I for one will be joining the legal fight against Vodafone. Oh and by the way the Mobil Broadband from Vodafone is not secure and anyone can hack your system as there is no protection. I also have documented evidence of this. Vodafone has damaged my business and my family and myself as well. If Vodafone had admitted the issue when they were first aware of it and followed it up and actually do what they were paid to do then they would have stopped selling until they had fixed their issues and not continue to add to the problem. Vodafone as a direct result of your actions, I am personally out of pocket many millions of dollars.
31 Dec 2010 02:18:54 PM: Bullshit!
mobile broadband works off a sim card, just like your phone... do many people hack your phone calls and use your credit?
You are out of pocket many millions of dollars? really?
Telstra vs Vodafone.. Telstra has good coverage but expensive plans. Vodafone has bad coverage but cheap plans. everyone knows this, you get what you pay for. I never stop wondering why business people in particular, or anyone with many millions of dollars can't afford to go with the expensive network that has garaunteed better coverage.

My phone fails to receive messages on time, calls are not coming through but the callback service works. Their customer service takes forever to answer (and always has), they take money out of my account without permission and fail to take money out when I do authorise it. Their call centre (which seems to be based in India) is crap. They're polite but they don't seem to resolve issues but rely on people withering away on the end of the phone waiting for the line to be picked up after wasteful waiting times and repeated calls on the same issue. Vodafail is headed for the bin...only a week to go.

8949 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is extremely disappointing at 30 Dec 2010 09:20:32 AM
I've been with Vodafone for over 10 years and I've had a few minor wins with complaints that I have lodged with their customer service personnel. That said their coverage has been to say the least fairly appalling in that time. This is something that I have 'lived' with until now. Recently I signed for a 24mth contract with a new iPhone 4 and coincidently have found that 3G coverage in Darwin has dropped. This resulted in my phone constantly searching for 3G service, which in turn sapped my battery at a great rate of knots. I have since turned 3G off and have found that not only my battery has a better life, but the 2G service is a lot quicker and more readily available than 3G. This is inexcusable considering VHA tout 3G availability in Darwin - why should we have to resort to using the old network technology. Get your act together Vodafone.
In addition, I too have been told by friends and colleagues that they have service most of the way to Katherine with Telstra, yet as soon as I reach Noonamah all service is gone - why Vodafone? Considering the NT has a lot of remote areas I would hate to experience any sort of difficulty on the road as I would not be able to contact anyone for help!

8945 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extremly!!! at 30 Dec 2010 09:18:06 AM
I am sick of my phone always dropping out of range. It is quite often that I am in the middle of the city and my phone says no service.
The 3G of it is awful as well - every time that I try to use it, it will be down. Mobile phones are supposed to be reliable, mine is so far away from that.
Leaving home with or without my phone would almost make no difference as it almost never works when I need it.
I have called customer service a few times and after being on hold for over an hour I got hanged up on - UNACCEPTABLE!!
I have six months left in my contract and then I am definitely getting the hell out of this company... And to any new potential customers - do not do it!! Signing a contract with these people will be something that you will regret for months to come.

my trouble with vodaphone is that text - both pictures and messages - don't come through sometimes for 24 or 48 hours. and my phone generally seems to be very slow. another issue is that i text 'customer service' for my account balance. when they reply with the amount, it is never correct. in the past i have believed them when they say i've got $77 remaining only to be billed way over my cap because i used up the $77 plus whatever amount they didn't mention

8914 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is fraudulent at 30 Dec 2010 08:30:32 AM
I signed up in October this year and was told by the Vodafone sales assistant I had 2.5Gb downloads free for two years with my Android purchase plus bonus download deal. Second bill = $498 worth of data. It seems nothing was free at all in contrast to the stated terms of their contract. These are the first TELCO pickpockets I've known to look you in the eyes while they rob you blind. Very poor service everywhere. Dropped out calls and 6 hour delays on SMS as well. No MMS working 'apparently'.
30 Dec 2010 08:48:58 AM: that doesn't sound right, the excess data rate is 12cents a MB, that means you would have had to use 4gb extra?

Doesn't make sense maybe you should call and just wait, or go into a shop, be proactive!

Every time you talk to a customer service agent at the phone company you really need to date and record everything you and them say...
When i upgraded my contract this year with three i was offered a iphone 3 on the $29 contract + an extra $18 per month for the I phone. I decided to upgrade, Than i got my first bill. Three had charged me $35 extra for the phone per month. I rang and complained and three told me they have no recorded message of the agree $18 per month for the Iphone and the phone should have been $35 and thats that i will have to pay $35 per month for the iphone. I complained 10+ times to three about this issue. I than lodged my complaint with the TIO. I gave them every bit of information i recorded down. Within the week, i had a call from a lady from the TIO saying three will have to honor the agreement of the $18 per month iphone charge, not the $35 which three wanted.

One small win for the little guy. Thanks TIO..

Fail.....constant dropouts with my phone and just as poor connectivity on my month by month internet. The worst of it is getting through to customer service. I was on hold for 3 hours one day and still didn;t get through to an operator. Keep an eye out for AllConnect in March '11, competetive, service with a smile and all in country.

I have been with vodafone for about 5 years now I have had issues before but no where near as bad as in the last few months I have been having major issues receiving calls and also dialing out, I keep getting call failed and then when people call me my phone does not even ring. I spoke to vodafone and informed them that due to the problems I wanted to cancel my contact without early termination fee's they said that it was my handset at first and then we did all the networking procedure but the issue was still not resolved so they said they needed to escalate it and that it would take 7 -14 days I explained to them that I could not go that long without a phone as my daughter was with her father and how was he supposed to contact me if anything happened, they said the only other option was that I could get out of my contact and pay $1036 which was remaining, I said fine and my contract was terminated I then contacted the TIO and spoke to them, a few days later I got a call off a vodafone resolution officer and we agreed that I only had to pay for my phone and that the contract will be terminated without any early fee's.

After emailing Vodafail about the network issue/lack of reception, I ACTUALLY received a response..even if it was a typical troubleshooting reply. They've offered me 3 months of free access "as a show of good faith because they strive to provide the highest quality customer service" Does anybody think I should accept or stick to my guns?
30 Dec 2010 07:33:14 AM: Not really a tough choice - 3 months of free access to what, lack of reception and network issues? - stick to your guns.
30 Dec 2010 09:11:52 AM: 3 months free access.......but you can't get access...........means 3 months with a small brick the size of a mobile phone - stick to your guns.
30 Dec 2010 12:30:27 PM: I told them that I wouldn't accept 3 months free as they had caused me to lose complete faith in their ability to provide a service. I reiterated that the only acceptable outcome would be the null and voiding of my contract, and I would return the handset in pristine condition, with original packaging and all documentation as a show of good faith. Got told they couldn't increase the offer or let me go. Where to from here?

We are new and very unhappy customers and want OUT OF THESE CONTRACTS so we can go to a network that can give us what we pay for SERVICE Shame on VODAFONE we are telling everybody do not go to VODAFONE and the main reason would be the customer service on top of the Network problems which just make you more angry with the situation we feel we have been sucked in to a big mess

After signing our Business Contact and delivery of our 2 new iPhone 4...32gb mobile. We were promised, the porting of 1 of our numbers on the 23rd December.

Then after checking, on the 24th December, to see whether they were, going to successfully port the number.....on the 25th December.

The Business customer service representative , informed me that the porting team, do not work on Xmas day.

The first possible date, That i was promised ,that they could port the number was on the Tuesday the 28December.

After waiting, all day on the Tuesday, we decided to ring the customer service, on the Wednesday.

To be informed by the porting team, that the phone number, should of been ported, on the 23rd December on the sign up of the Business arrangement ,The porting team, Said that they would not be able, to port this number , because it was not ported on the activation, of the contract
It was only after, I said that I would cancel the contract, and send the 2 phones back to them.

They then, suggested, that they needed to talk to the supervisor, and put me on hold. When he came back he said yes I will do the port, it will take about 3 hours. 6th later the phone number has still not been ported. Every day losing several phone calls a day. I don't know how long we will have to wait for my number to be ported. May be I may have to send the phones back & cancel the contract

30 Dec 2010 07:51:59 AM: Good luck if you decide to CANCEL NOW.

Have been with Vodafone for the past 3 years, and in this time i have made more than 20 complaints as to incorrect billing, false information, system errors, lack of explanation, lack of clarity, and loss of signal in very inconvenient times.(important calls) The amount of time i have wasted of my life having to try contacting them only to find i have to spend, sometimes, nearly an hour at a time just waiting to talk to someone i can barely understand. Other times, after waiting to finally get to talk to customer service, having the phone drop out,(sometimes having them hang up, i'm sure)and then having to call back to waste more time waiting again. If another company had the same deals and value for money(without the bullshit, dramas and frustration), i would gladly choose another service provider. Mick Drylie

8760 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is networking coverage was painful at 29 Dec 2010 08:52:07 PM
Started when I signed internet wireless with vodafone on 07/01/2010 at World Square Vodafone Dealer by the sales person named Laurie. He ensured that the suburb I live (Roselands NSW 2196) is covered by Vodafone. The contract is for 2 years, and the first half year was charged $ 19,95 (thats he said; but always gone up and downs even I never excess the user limit which is 6 GB per month). However after the first 6 months ended, the real story came up , since July 2010 until November 2010 ; when the monthly bill is $ 39.95 per month - I hardly can use the network smoothly. I had to move around in my own house to find the coverage and once I got it, it stayed only 10 minutes. I did rang the customer service and suprise surprise its somewhere around the world ( India or Somewhere not in Sydney) tried to fix the problem but nothing to be done. I asked them if they could give me credit for the service/product that they can not deliver to the client, and they said no; what a dickhead; sorry my language, but this is awful. The product is 6 GB $ 39.95 24 month - inc modem.
Thats my story and I can not wait if this matter can be fixed and I just wanna get out from this mess.

Calls drop out, my internet times out or I wait so long for anything to load that I give up. People try to call me and my phone is "off" as the reception is so aweful. I was previously with Virgin mobile who I never had any issue with in this area, and switched to vodafone because they had a good iphone plan. BIG MISTAKE. When I sent through a complaint about the rubbish customer service, I had email back to ask for "further information" which I didnt receive until a few days after the "cut off" for the reply to their email, and in their words "this issue is assumed resolved and we have closed this case" or something along those lines. Most frustrating service provider I have ever experienced

8740 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extemely poor service at 29 Dec 2010 08:07:06 PM
I sent my mother and Father a PHOTO on christmas day of their grandchild playing with his new train set. They both got it at exactly the same time, 12:15am this morning, the 29th. That is virtually 3 1/2 days later. what a disgrace. But this is only the latest. Any time my father sends me a photo it takes anywhere from 1 day to 3. I'm not with Vodaphone thank god both my parents are and they are sick of it and will be pursuing this matter further.

8730 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is THE WORST CARRIER EVER! at 29 Dec 2010 07:47:25 PM
I joined up to Vodafone as my daughter was on it, and all I knew was they offered free vodafone-to-vodafone calls. I used to be on Optus Prepaid, and NEVER any problems! Great reception, great customer service, short waiting times when calling them...however, less than one month ago, I joined a no-contract monthly plan with Vodafone and here are my numerous COMPLAINTS:
sometimes calls drop out, reception is very very poor...OFTEN, often can't send text messages due to reception probs (strange, when Optus was PERFECT!), I called Vodafone 1555 last week to cancel my phone service with them, and I took the option of them phoning me back as the wait time was over 40 minutes they said. So they phone me back, and I was on hold another 114 minutes, before I HUNG UP IN DISGUST! :(((( I had my young kids to look after, and i wasted the whole morning on hold, and telling my kids to go play. They even missed morning tea. AND I NEVER GOT To TALK TO ANYONE. I even called a Mobile Phone shop and they say, no we have to call teh same number 1555 to cancel your service....
So what is the solution? I don't even use the full credit i get given....I want to go back to OPTUS....do i call in the middle of the night in the hope of getting through quicker? I WILL TRY THAT TONIGHT, and if they WON'T CANCEL MY SERVICE, I'll be back here!!!!!
I don't even care anymore if they make me lose my phone number (unless i pay them $50 to take the number elsewhere)...well, they are not getting more from me!

14:55 today requested a call back - as "Lara" states you dont loose your place in the queue.

**WAITED 95 MINUTES NO CALL BACK**

17:00 Called and waited on hold. 45 Minutes later, THEY ANSWER!!!
So where is my so called "call back" you promise that i dont loose my place in the queue? Its absolute rubbish!

This customer service rep, doesnt help in any way.. Puts me through to iphone support only to explain my problem all over again to find out im speaking with BILLING!

Billing then put me through to iphone tech support which they say will answer my call in under 6 minutes.. Only to wait another 90 minutes and then they answer. They reset my net work settings and it doesnt help then proceed to want to put me through to another department. After discussions about not wanting to be put on hold he assures me his "going to wait until they answer and explain my situation so i dont repeat myself AGAIN".. And that it wont take longer then 5 minutes as its an "internal" call... well 2HOURS and 20 minutes of being on HOLD again to this department, i had to repeat everything, only to be told to visit the vodafone store. Its now 21:27 and ive only just got off the phone.

I will be walking into vodafone tomorrow and cancelling out of this contract!!!

TO THE CEO of VODA, your apology was meaningless rubbish your P.A put together for you. Have you switched to telstra yet??? You can queue up behing me tomorrow! :)

Thanks Vodafail for letting me vent!!
29 Dec 2010 09:27:21 PM: I empathise with your pain. Cheers Peter

I like doing things in person customer service included. I don't like that you can not pay bills in store. I also do not like that you can not cancel your account instore, I mean the least they could do is let you break up in person. So here I am using up my skype credit calling vodaphone from Sweden all because I am unable to register for online services. Well it is hard to receive a temporary password via SMS when the sim card in question is in a broken USB Internet modem in a bin somewhere in Perth. Also your on hold music has bad reception, great advertising.

8711 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mulitple Issues on $49 plan at 29 Dec 2010 07:22:54 PM
My vodafone contract was an absolute debacle. The phone kept breaking down (not their fault I guess), I had insurance on the phone so after about the 6th breakdown, i thought I would claim on the insurance to get a new phone. So I call to get the details, and was told that the excess on my insurance was going to cost me more than the cost to me to walk into a Vodafone shop and buy the phone outright that they were offering. I told them that it made no sense, to no avail, bad luck they say.

So after this, I realise it isn't worth paying the insurance ($10) per month. So I call the ever helpful Lara to say take off the insurance charge please. They say "no problem, done". The next couple of months my $49 plan starting charging me excess, so my bills started coming through @ $350 per month. I call Vodafone to say this is not right, I want my money back. They say no. I argue, and ask to be transferred to a manager, this billing is not correct. I finally am assured a refund as they say they accidently took off my data plan instead of my insurance. So with no data plan, my bills sky rocket. They say they will pay me back in installments, I say no, this is your fault, pay the money back. After 2.5 hours on the phone, they agree to repay me. Weeks pass, and no money comes back. I call again to ask where is my refund. The response "Finance has said no, your bank details are not correct". But wait, the bank details are the same as the ones you charge me every month for my plan. What is going on? "The refund has been rejected" they say. Why is that? So 2.5 hours later, I am explaining the problem over and over. They say again there will be no refund. But you said weeks ago they will be a refund. Arghhhhhhh !

So I go to a retail outlet. They look at the problem, and say they will contact head office on my behalf to rectify the problem. I was so happy finally for some customer service. The outlet calls a couple of days later, saying, no, they can't help. I must call Lara. I nearly cry.

I call Lara again and go through the process of being on the phone 2.5 hours. I talk explain from the start the issue, what the problem is. Then I talk to the manager and finally they agree to repay this over charging back. They offer to pay in installments, I say NOOOOOOOOOO, this is your mistake, pay me back the money please !!!!! And finally 2 months later, the over charging is repaid.

Next step, to get the insurance charge that they kept charging back. I call Lara, and get..... Vodafone Egypt, assisting Vodafone Australia. I explain the problem, and they say, OK, we understand, we will investigate and call you back............

AND I'M STILL WAITING......... MONTHS LATER. I can't go through the hardship of calling them again...............
29 Dec 2010 07:42:17 PM: Wow! How are you not in jail for murder? I feel for you!
29 Dec 2010 09:18:48 PM: Yeah, they do make it so tough.

29 Dec 2010 09:23:46 PM: One of most bizarre stories i ever heard about customer services.....
29 Dec 2010 10:20:40 PM: OH GOD! I would dread wanting to call them ever again! What a nightmare!!!!
1 Jan 2011 12:10:26 PM: I feel your pain, they do their best to wear you down, I put up with that sort of crap for over 6 weeks as my business went down the drain. I attempt to use my voda iphone for business but no longer can. I am so sick of the dropped calls, the failed calls, the total lack of signal etc etc. What is worse is that when I try and speak to someone in AUSTRALIA who really knows what is going on- "there is no way I can put you through"..... The customer service is designed to frustrate and obsfucate rather than to solve the problem. I have tried to unlock my phone from the network to leave- but now even that site doesnt work!. I recently migrated from 3 to Vodafone..and its just been absolute hell, my network reception drops or is constantly goign from 3G to 2G. I only migrated there because 3 were not getting the blackberry Torch and i wanted to upgrade my current blackberry. I regret doing it!. If this is what it takes to get the handset you want then screw it!..I should have stayed with 3!. It might be teh same company but their service is far ahead of Vodafone.
Vodafone customer service is pathetic, it took 3 days to activate my sim card.. I mean seriously. You are a multinational business. Lets not even talk about ur internet service... Get your stuff together,I'm not paying for 2nd rate service!

everyone's saying the same things, so i'll only count as a number. Call dropouts, unable to call, poor customer service (even in the store, they call the same number & go thru the same 40 mins of recorded messages - then they hand the phone to you.....) Sms messages missing / delayed.
Surely the network upgrade can't be happening to all towers at once.....and where is the transperancy to customers? If is was systematic, area by area, AND they were upfront about it, maybe so many wouldn't be upset.
I started with V. many years ago because i found their service, (both network & customer)to be better than Telstra, but have been having second thoughts for ages. Get the towers (if this is the issue)sorted & put real people (in australia) on the phones!

My service is ALWAYS playing up! I receive voice mail, and my phone did not even ring. I get txt messages from people days later after they have sent it, and get charged for extra data when I am on an uncapped data allowance. PLUS I wanted to upgrade my iphone to an iphone 4, but was told that I would have to cancel my current plan, mind you, I have been a loyal customer of vodafone for over 11 years, and never had a problem with them, and re-sign up with another plan for my new iphone.... gee talk about money grabbers. And also not too long ago I had smashed the screen on my iphone , as it came out and wanted to claim insurance on it. I was told by Vodafone that they would not offer e relplacement phone during the insurance process, and if the iphone were to be replaced, it would be replaced with a FACTORY SECOND iphone, not a new one, so I bit the bullet and got a new screen from chinatown for $100. But You wouldn't expect a factory second if your TV or microwave under insurance would you. Not very good customer service I'm afraid, vodafail!

8668 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Rediculous at 29 Dec 2010 06:25:19 PM
I bought the Samung Jet via Vodafone store. The service at store level was great. However when i started to try to connect with Live, Compass and just the internet via the "Smart" phone i was told by Vodafone they do not support this model for these services. Even though it was heavily advertised for months. They directed me to Samsung who said they do not support the Jet for software issues contact the service provider.. Around i go for 9 weeks. Finally was given a $250 credit to my account for poor customer satisfaction. But i still have the phone and still having the problems. I was told.. not my a vodafone rep but of the record by Samsung, to take the phone back multiple occasions and for identical service issues and Vodafone will assist in exchange to a similar or better model and you pay the gap if its a better model. So im taking it back now for the second service for the same complaints that cant be fixed because the manufacturer and vodafone dont support this phone! As far as the credit goes i have to call every month and tell the whole story again to make sure the credit is applied every month. continued poor customer service. Samsung said they never advertised that they will support the model phone. So its my fault for buying it without making sure its going to be supported? a Smart phone not supported ?? i just dont understand. Good luck fellow Vodafail customers hope you complain and complian until you get the resolution your looking for. Dont forget the other avenues of complaint. Enough ppl complaining eventually we will win.. When has a customer ever had to fight for service?

I was with Vodafone for many years when it first come out and offered a heap of txts msgs each time that you recharged but as soon as they got the customrs in that went out the window and the offers got less and less. The coverage sucked as did the customer service especially in the stores. The mobile phones that you can get with Vodafone are rejects that other phone companies wont use,i learnt that quick. However in saying this there is not many phone companies that you can trust.Telstra employees are rude and have reduced me to tears many times. I have written a 9 page letter to them while being on the phone on hold from a telstra employee,i have had them laugh at me and abuse me and lie to me. Today i went to activate a Telstra sim and after many phone calls and and over an hour of my time on the phone i finally got through and was spoken to rudely.Telstra also have many black spots too and they certainly dont care about customers.
I just hope these complaints are valid and the person who started this is not a disgruntled past Vodafone employee.I notice that Telstra and Virgin are getting plugged on this site and they are not much better.
I accidently typed in vodafail.com.au and i got a blank page with my ISP on t,hmmmm!!! Is this an ad for Telstra????
29 Dec 2010 06:50:33 PM: As said before, we understand concerns such as yours but we can assure you the Vodafail team does not work for any Telcos (and have not in the past) and this is not an advertising site for any particular Telco. The motivation behind Adam starting this site is on the home page and it is the truth. We do not officially endorse any particular Telco and our 'Alternatives' page is a collection of what has come to our attention as alternatives. We also do not own the vodafail.com.au address and contents of that site has nothing to do with us. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. - Vodafail Team
29 Dec 2010 10:51:12 PM: If that is the case, instead of vodafail, make it a telco complaint site where u actually list all the telcos.Don't you think this site is a little unfair when i'm sure ppl have experienced the same thing with other companies.I waited for 1 mth before telstra could activate my home phone and i understand becos it's due to the system and not really within their control... i had issues with my virgin mobile cos they kept sending me mms settings to the phone 4 times a day and could not give me an ETA and only got fixed after a mth and their reason being"we use optus network so we need to get optus to fix it"I use to get drop outs from virgin too and decided to port my number over to vodafone after the shitty experience.I am sure other telcos...ppl complain too..
30 Dec 2010 06:24:47 AM: yes I'm sure if there was a general telco site listing all the telcos, people would be complaining about others, not just Vodafone.
6 Jan 2011 10:25:21 PM: then maybe this site could be changed to telco complaint site so it doesn't seem like only vodafone customers are facing this issues.I personally think it's a little unfair ...i've been using vodafone for 3 years and honestly.. i'm happy with my service. When i have issues, i go to the store and they help me with it....

8632 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely failed at 29 Dec 2010 05:38:00 PM
Hi,
I have been a vodafone customer for a while now and I also have had nothing but trouble. before signing a contract through vodafone I made sure my area and surrounds had full coverage and they said yes it good it has no black spots. so myself and my fiance signed up to 2 mobile plans and a internet plan. since then to now we have had so many problems at least more then twice a day whilst on the phone my phone cuts out and says no service even if i havent even made a step literally while im sitting on the couch not moving. or i'll move from one bedroom to another or living to lounge and it will go from full reception to nothing or even once again while im on a call. i will even go sit in the back yard and it still does the same thing whether in the house or not. i will be writing a text and the second i press send it goes from full bars to saying no service. it is really rediculas. sometimes i dont even recieve a voice mailstill days later aswell. I have even been speaking to them and it still does it. and so what if something is really wrong what happens then. also our internet only works on certain occasions. we pay for these plans yet have no coverage half the time. myself and my partner have made so many calls to vodafone making complaints and they never do anything, even one time a customer service person told us that "we have a good coverage area but only if we are not inside a house" what the hell is that what are you to do or say to that. and that isnt even true either. I really hope something gets done about this problem they have its not fair when you are told one thing and you pay the money and dont get to use it.

8626 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service line at 29 Dec 2010 05:28:48 PM
I called the customer service line at 7:45pm one evening from my home phone to complain about not being able to send or forward emails. My call was answered just before 8pm. My personal details were called up on the service screen. Just as I was about to verify my password the phone line dropped out. How can a landline drop out? I immediately called back but was greeted by a recorded message which advised that this department was closed for the day and that I should call back tomorrow. My strong suspicions are that my call was going to take some time to resolve and that it was already past closing time, so my call was terminated on purpose. This was frustrating.
My immediate thoughts were that the customer service department operator would call me back, after all they had my details on the screen in fronton them. I have three mobile phone numbers with Vodafone, they have my home phone number, SMS, and email details. I received no return reply that night. That night I sent an email stating exactly what I thought of of their Customer Service Help line. The next day I received an automated email advising that there was an
unresolved issue in their system and if I would like to call back to complete the enquiry. I never called back and I still have the same problem. When my contract expires I will be "shopping around" for another phone company preferably one that provides customer service when I need it ..... Not when it suits them!

8616 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The absolute worst at 29 Dec 2010 05:18:49 PM
I am currently on Tasmanias East Coast - there is absolutely no coverage and when I call Vodafone from Skype via my Telstra Broadband modem, which works perfectly I am left holding on for an extraordinary time trying to sort out the issue of retrieving voicemails from another phone. What worked last night does not work this evening with Vodafone.

I am usually in Sydney and experience drop outs all the time, bad spots in populated areas where other providers have perfect reception and of course I cant use my Vodafone phone at home without going to a certain corner in the house.

As for Lara - she is a disgrace.

I have nothing positive to say about Vodafone - poor system backed up by poor service

8607 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 29 Dec 2010 05:10:10 PM
I run a small business and have had issues for months, issues such as poor connection, no connection, even in city areas, the house, the car, Subiaco Oval, etc. Voice calls dropping out and not being connected at all, text and picture messages being delayed for any thing from 15 minutes to 24 hours, to not being recieved at all..
As a small business owner and operator, I am very dismayed at having to pay for a service that I am not getting, there is no customer service at all. I went to a Vodafone stall in th mall at Karrinyup and queried increasing the limit for internet use (before al this happned) and was told that I would have to call Vodafone (the service area was based in India!). What sort of company can not assist you face to face and then refers you to call some one in India (I acually didn't end up doing it, as calling those call centres is very painful)and now I am glad I didn't. I think I wil almost definatly be contacting the ACCC (apparently if you complain to them, they can get you out of the contract hassel and money free).. I may also consider signing the web page for class action.. Thank you for this web page, muchly appreciated. I look forward to more information as you have it.

Well after multiple phone calls and being left on hold or waiting for the callback (that doesn't come) I am over it. I am complaining about my phone and vodafone's poor service areas and performance issues.

I constantly have people call me and my phone goes straight to voice mail. Same as SMS's disappearing or arriving hours late. My phone disconnects mid-call constantly!

The service is so poor I have purchased a SIM with another provider and tested my handset with zero problems. So for the past 3 months I have been migrating over. I want to exit. However, now I am told I need to pay out my contract (6 months x $49)!!! Vodafone's service is so bad I am forced to go elsewhere so why should I be held to that? I want out but at nearly $300 to exit this is extortion. I do not want to be paying two providers.

My family are all on vodafone and experience the same problems. What I want to understand is what happened recently (last 3 months). The service is not worth the money.

I recently understood they can void this exit fee if the service area is a known problem area. This is nearly everywhere I go however particularly at home it is amplified and as I said the whole family is affected.

29 Dec 2010 05:06:44 PM: Yea if you are having really bad reception issues they should let you cancel without any fee, but they might ask for the phone back. Keep contacting them and if they can't resolve your issue then it might be worth going to the TIO.

8590 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA BIG fail!! at 29 Dec 2010 04:51:19 PM
Vodafone was great with fabulous customer service until Hutchins(3) bought it out 3/4 years ago has become progressive NIGHTMARE since. Have 3 phones and 2 broadband modems= 5 connections with them and, honest, ALL are stuffed in last few years. Calls don't come through, may or maynot get to voicemail, texts may take 4 DAYS to come through, missed calls, dropped calls, everything already said on this site! Slow broadband, ACHINGLY slow website etc...and concept of 'customer service' is an unlaughable joke. The customer service operators themselves are polite, apologetic and genuine in their desire to help but they are also ineffective and uncertain in their answers and actions, likely to the limitations of information, authority to act and staff numbers in the call centres they work from. Less staff, less equipment and trainig leaves more money for aggressive (if shonky) advertising and managerial payrises I guess. Am in process of transfering phones to Virgin, though wish someone else would offer 365day option as is useful for my spare phone. Also paid $300 for original broadband modems (2) when released, told could disconnect from Vodafone3 after 6 months, not exactly true I found out, as want to charge ANOTHER $75 each for the disconnection fee!! Yes, cheaper to cut my loss of both modems and buy again elsewhere. So my warning to unwary is DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this company whatever the 'offers' may be as they WILL find a way to trap or abuse your contracts with them!! Joined them 2004, leaving them with 2010. Great website, fabulous initiative!! To critics....yes, all telcos and any other business who want contractual obligations to your wallet for 2 years should have websites like this calling them on their side of that contract!! Well done!

Seems to be a common trait, unable to speak with anyone regarding my wireless dongle (poor signal in most locations around my home on Gold Coast). Ended up calling a vodafone store in the NT! Rang Vodafone and was put on hold for about twenty min, ended up hanging up. I'll wait for the 12 months to expire on contract and cancell it, I will never go back, it seems to be the easiest way at the moment.
Worst customer service I have ever come accross in my 55 years.
Hope the class action generates some responce from them.

2 vodafone shops where i signed up my phones have closed down. The first shop provided totally wrong information about what means the "cap". The misleading caused me paying $ 2,000 phone bill 1 month. When I called vodafone to complain, the answers is: it the fault of the shop owner, not vodafone. 2nd shop i signed up my iphone has closed as well, also provided me the wrong information about overseas service fee, this time i even did not bother to complain since i know i will get the same excuse. Vodafone is definitely providing very poor service to their customers. At the meantime, i sometimes got signal problem even in the city. As a customer, i am NOT happy.
29 Dec 2010 04:59:19 PM: Don't be unhappy Sign up to class action against Vodafone and claim compensation.
30 Dec 2010 06:44:19 AM: Vodafone has dealers that are separate from vodafone and just sell vodafone product therefore it is the shops fault
1 Jan 2011 06:38:29 PM: Spare a thought for the franchisees.. They must sell this dodgy product to feed their families. It was good up until the merge now it's all gone pear shaped. VHA has sent my business and me personally broke. How can I honestly "sting" customers? VHA will not admit they are at fault as every franchisee will sue them. I've just recently refinanced my property to the tune of $100k.. I never signed up for a dodgy network of merge!! Now I'm going to lose the lot!! Care factor from VHA is zero... Can't wait for my barrister to get back from annual leave!!! Good luck to each and everyone of you! Don't give the pricks the satisfaction!!!! Two cans and a string will do me!!! NJ

These telco's have a real issue with answering customer's inquires, and the first step is to simplify their answering systems by having people answer calls and directing them to the appropriate section. Automatic answering systems do not work.

8574 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 29 Dec 2010 04:20:00 PM
Agree, having same problems as everyone & extremely frustrated & angry! Been with Vodafone 10 yrs. Their customer service is almost non existent. The greatest deterioration is in the last few months but declining over past 2 years. Main problems are dropping out, poor reception ie often only 1 - 2 bars, problems with global service while on business & unable to access voicemail - unable to get through to call centre to resolve, on hold 40 minutes at nearly $7 per minute, yes this is the cost to call the customer assistance from overseas! Made several attempts, each time eventually hung up as unable to get through. The one time I got through the girl said this was not her department and we needed to speak to another dept which were not available at that time but she would notify them - we never heard from her or the dept. Attempted online help & also sent email query. Received a response to our email from Vodafail nearly 24 hrs later to tell us they had received & logged our problem & 'they would get back to us' and gave some standard info which didn't help. We were on business overseas and was ridiculous not only that global roaming was not working but that we could not get assistance to fix the problem yet ended up with a big $ bill in trying. On return from overseas attempted multiple times to contact Vodafone to discuss this bill before paying for a service we did not get but could not get through. 3 days after the bill was overdue a bar was put on my phone.... as a last resort to contact vodafail l plugged my phone in to its charger and my partner & l spent a combined nearly 6 hrs on hold to get through to resolve the global roaming bill issues. We are fed up.

Finally found some time to complain to Vodafone about the slow data I get plus more recently call drop outs and slow text messages as I am now on hlidays and have some spare time. Although data has always been slow it has definately been getting worse no matter where I am.

Of course the Customer Care staff had to go thorough a process have you tried this and that (yes I have). They are going to run some tests and get back to me on Monday due to the holidays etc. This is after I requested to get out of my contract.

I must say the staff member I eventually got put through to was very helpful (sounded like a subcontinent call centre though). And they put me on a cheaper plan (as they should).

All I can say Vodafone is stop signing more people up to a Data plans on a network that clearly isn't coping. Apologise to everyone and promote how great your network is once it's upgraded.

Oh and by the way there are plenty of your Customers that haven't yet bothered to complain cause they don't have the time. Just because someone hasn't complained in detail doesn't mean they are happy with the service ( I think the CEO was saying only a small number of Customer complained). Once their contracts are up I think plenty will be switching. My advice would be to send apology letters and discounted plans now until the problems are fixed.

Hopefully I will hear back Monday! Wish me luck!
29 Dec 2010 04:14:33 PM: Good luck! Hope you get your contract sorted out soon.

8547 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolutely shocking at 29 Dec 2010 03:33:14 PM
I purchased my IPhone from the Port Macquarie outlet at Settlement City shopping centre late last year, where the phone displayed FULL reception (great gimick that one - you move 30 meters from the Vodafone shop & the reception disappears!!). I have no reception in my house, except on occasion I will have one bar of service on my washing machine. I logged my complaint some months ago explaining the issues that I have - which is no service, & they said they would send someone out to have a look. I had not heard from them for several weeks so I followed up my complaint to be told that I don't live at a valid address!! I had even given them instructions on how to get to my house & it can be located on Google Maps. They dismissed me & told me to go to the Ombudsman. Being a full time working parent, I cannot take the time out during working hours to log my complaint, so to date have not done so. I would like to say, that I would never ever ever recommend anyone to sign up with Vodafone. I left Telstra due to their lack of customer service, but Vodafone just have no service at all! Very disgruntled from Port Macquarie (not the middle of Australia where one would expect to have limited service).

I went to Vodafone as 3 gave poor service... since i have been with them I have had nothing but issues phone calls are always dropping out on me or not even getting through,I don't get much service at home or work, my text msgs are taking up to 6hrs to get to the recipetent, voicemail is coming through up to a day late.

Every time I call to try and discuss this issue I have to wait between 1-3 hours till I get through or they return my call and then spend 1/2 an hour to an hour listening to them telling me its my (I) phone or where I live.....

Friends are with other services and have great service in my place of residence and work, today I called and left a msg to get A return call it took 3hrs I then started to re discuss my issues and advised I wasn't happy with the outcome.. the customer service representative then advised he would put me through to disconnection... lol I have just disconnected that call after waiting for 45 mins... I will be going into a store on my next day of this is ridiculous.

I just travelled to Brisbane for Christmas and i hardly had 3G coverage, In Sydney i have good signal, my messages were delivered late and - i was in Brisbane City, it was crap, had to turn my phone off and on to get one bar of signal, since Voda has merged with 3 they appear to be flying off the radar with the service they provide and the customer service when you are transferred to India - i was on hold for 1 hour and 50 minutes to speak to a Voda rep. That is Poor.

Due to the poor service vodafone has been providing i was unable to call emergency services yesterday when my daughter collapsed at the shopping centre i had to scream out to someone to call an ambulance for her.
I hope to god this vodafone nightmare does not cost someone their life!!!!
29 Dec 2010 03:44:44 PM: Your phone will call emergency services on any network that is available. If you couldn't call out then NO NETWORK was available at all. In door coverage is not guaranteed by any carrier.
30 Dec 2010 12:34:24 PM: Thats funny the lady standing next to us was able to get through to emergency services...therfore THERE WAS A NETWORK service available

8520 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Failing again and again at 29 Dec 2010 02:51:05 PM
Perth metro area, close to CBD. Poor and often NO signal. Rarely receive 3G. Call drops. Delayed text and voicemail messages (often delayed by several hours). Atrocious customer service call centre (not the fault of staff). Wanted to change my direct debit details, they told me to do it myself on their website. I told them I had tried that but their website wasn't working and was even mire atrocious. Devaluing existing customers. If Vodafone spent half as much time and money improving their services as they do on advertising and marketing, it would never have come to this. What a shame.

8510 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Totally crap at 29 Dec 2010 02:43:07 PM
On switching to 3 (now Vodafone) from the overcharging big T, I have discovered that as I walk through my house I can be shunted through three different cell towers ... problem is that I loose reception (no signal) when switching between cell towers ... 3 and Vodafone have been pathetic in their attempts to assure me the coverage and switching between towers should not cause signal drop outs even going as far as suggesting that it's my mobile that is the issue. I've invited both 3 and Vodafone to my place to test it for themselves, but the customer service person I spoke with at Vodafone told me that they were too busy dealing with real issues! So Vodofone, what good is a mobile if you can't walk around and use it like the manufacturer intended?
