26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I am sick of getting missed calls when people tell me why my phone goes to message. It disconnects when i am on the phone, cuts out. When it doesn't even ring sometimes the bars are down to 1.My phone cuts out when i try to talk on it. This has been going on for so long it is ridiculous. when i try to ring customer service the same crap they say sorry we are trying to fix the problem with the reception, imagine if you live in the country, i live in a suburb 20 mins from the city, god help. Also i have been with vodaphone for over 10 years, and when i check on my balance it says balance is not available and to try later which is very annoying. The worse thing is when there is not a signal it says NO SERVICE can someone explain that this really pisses me of when i see that. Imagine if i had an emergency, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

4213 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic, Horror experience at 27 Dec 2010 05:34:29 PM
It took nearly 2 weeks to receive the product because it was sent to a distribution centre outside my area. 3G coverage at my home close to centre of Tweed Heads is one bar or less. I phoned Vodafone about reception; phone call took 1 hour 15 minutes, They would look into reception problem & get back in under 72hrs.No they didn't. I phoned twice over 6 days only to be told the service could not be improved in my area.(web sites shows excellent coverage along the coast) I told them I wanted to cancel the service & I was told a return bag would sent to me. Once they received the device my account would cease. Over 2 months latter I received the return bag. I don't know how many hours I spent on the phone to them to finally get the bag. Although I wasn't using the device and had cancelled the service I was still being billed. Vodafone kept telling me the bag had been sent, kept telling me they would get back to me. When I finally posted the device back I kept receiving bills. Vodafone kept telling me they hadn't received the device. I eventually had to find out from Aust post when the device was delivered and tell Vodafone where and when it was delivered. I no longer receive paper bills but I received an email bill last month which was in credit.(4 mths from the beginning of the horror experience now) I have never dealt with a company with such poor customer relations. I spent literally hours on the phone waiting to speak to customer service. Never again will I have anything to do with Vodafone.
Tips for dealing with Vodafone.
Use a handsfree phone when calling them, you can do other things while you are put on hold.
Card games,Free cell and patience are good to fill in the time.
Hands free cordless speaker phone would allow you to go make a cup of tea or get something to eat from the kitchen.
Keep your cool because if you lose it they may hang up on you & you will have to call back and be on hold an hour or so.
Remind them there is a Telecommunication Ombudsman you will contact if you don't get results.
Keep a record of all you phone calls to them, dates and times and results.
Persistance is the only way you will win. I hope you have plenty of time to waste on the phone.
Best wishes
Robert

Customer service in the Casuarina Retail is pathetic. Stood in line for 40mins, when I got to the front of the line the girl said 'sorry I can't help you with that we are too busy now'.

Sick of their overseas call centres! I cant understand a word they say!

Coverage in Fannie Bay is ridiculous. If I make a call I have to go outside!

reception is very ordinary, messages can take hours to receive, when wishing to complain or ask questions its either an automated system that steers you where Vodafone wants to put you or alternatively a person with an accent in a foreign country that English is not the primary language, then has trouble understanding me and me them! When I have been fortunate enough to speak to someone that can speak AND understand English fluently they can't help me but are happy to transfer me into the system, see previous gripe re. automated system, the bottom line VODAFONE is customer service, you have chosen to put profit before customers so prepare for the anal intruder care of Karma and many disgruntled Vodafone customers.

After 10 years of using Voda in the city, I moved to a country location and was assured that the service was advanced enough to facilitate my move.........well it wasn't. I'm in a major country town, 1 bar reception if any, 3 days to receive text messages, and to top it, I had the stupidity to sign up for a two year contract on theit 3G broadband offer. Download speeds were worse than my old dial up account on a landline. That was of course when there was no cloud cover, let alone a storm. Then, I had no reception at all, sometimes for days. I am now out of that internet deal, and after 12 years of faithful phone customership, I will be moving my accuont to someone else soon.

Now dont even get me started on the appaling so-called customer service, with that Lara autobot.........the amount of times I have been hung up on simply because the autobot cannot understand my inquiry. If at some astonishing time I do get to talk to a human, its someone that had little experience in actually speaking the English language.

Vodafone, you now suck..................

4197 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is evidently not good. at 27 Dec 2010 05:32:36 PM
I work for Telstra and the number of vodaphone customers that call in wanting to come over to us is over and above customers from other companies wanting to come to us. I've never been a vodaphone customer so I'm not sure what's going on. But from what I'm reading here it's heart attack inducing. I have two mobiles; one's with Telstra, and the other is with Optus (shhh!). Both are prepaid and both have excellent service in terms of coverage and customer service. I read a comment below from someone who mentioned they were treated superbly as a Voda prepaid customer, but as soon as they signed a contract with Voda the customer service went up the proverbial creek with no paddles. This is awful to hear. God bless you all and I hope you all get your grievances resolved in your favour. Renee.

4196 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Worst. Service. Ever. at 27 Dec 2010 05:32:26 PM
Since day 1, in August 2009, my work colleagues mocked me for selecting vodaphone as they are known to have zero reception in the Lockyer Valley, west of Brisbane. I contacted Vodaphone after a while, as I was extremely disappointed with the service, as I am paying $114pm for unlimited phonecalls and SMS, as I intended to use my phone for work purposes. This has not been possible, and due to my phoen serching for service all day, my phones battery life is around 10hours. I have an iphone and initially thought it was phone, but it was the reception. I have to charge my phone at work, just to get through the working day and have a phone in case of emergency on the trips home.

I contact the help line who just sent me a generic "we are awaiting the technicians to confirm the problems" after initially asking me fill out a lot of forms which were the same question over and over again. After 6 months of dramas, I was told that i could not exit my contract, and that the website had now been adjusted to reflect the poor service and coverage in the area.

A little too late for my liking. I want to jump on with everyone else and sue for the 18 months I have endured this crap. I threatened them with legal action but thought "im all alone" and figured I would waste a lot of cash. Now I know I am not alone. If I have met my end of the deal (paying $114pm) them they should meet their end, otherwise, essentially they have broken the contract!! And If i dont pay, they cut me off. Lets hit them where it hurts.

4195 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is WORST COVERAGE at 27 Dec 2010 05:32:13 PM
I live in Lilydale, a metro suburb and I cannot even get a fraction of reception at my house. I joined with Vodafone when living at another address, and since moving have not been able to gain any reception at home. Other people in my home are with 3 and are able to roam through Telstra. I went into a Vodafone store to ask about roaming. The young girl employee looked clueless and said she would look into it and call me back in half an hour with the result. An hour and a half later she calls to tell me she can't do anything. I then call Customer Service to try and get my National Roaming activated (seeing as the girl couldn't comprehend the matter), and was on hold for 45 minutes before giving up. I then visited another store and had my roaming activated, at which point I was told that any txt or calls made when roaming where not included in my $114 Unlimited Cap and that I have to pay extra for Vodafone's failure of coverage. Then when I returned home I discovered that I still do no receive any reception, even with my roaming activated and turned on. Massive failure Vodafone. I cannot believe I still have to pay for another 10 months of service when I can't even get a single bar of reception at my own home. What's the point in paying $114 for month for unlimited usage when I can't even access any data services where I live?

Im with Vodafone and my husband is with 3, we both have to go to the middle of the backyard to get reception, which still drops out quite regularly with every single call. After complaining to a customer service operator who rang to see how my experience with Vodafone was, he checked coverage to our area and said we were in a good reception spot. Funny that the phone kept dropping out and he rang me back twice to finish his call. I thought we were in a black spot, but obviously a lot of other people have this problem! The worst fear is we have a newborn and in case of emergency im scared my phone wont work when i need it the most. Grrrr!!!

Mobile number was ported to Vodafone years ago and now on a 24 month contract. The mobile number was given out to someone else over east. Our friends get her and her friends call us. After months of being on hold to sort it out Virgin have said it is an issue with Vodafone. Everytime I call Vodafone I get some bloody non english speaking person in India and have to explain the whole situation over and over. They tell me its not their issue so I ask to speak to superviser. Once again after telling my story to another 3 workers I finally get the superviser who cant help me as it is not their problem. AFTER 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE BEING TRANSFERED OVER AND OVER AND A 24 MONTH CONTRACT THATS USELESS, VODAFONE IT IS YOUR F@#KING PROBLEM.

after being with '3' for over a year i decided to swith to vodafone because my partner and most of the people i know are connected with them so i get the free calling credit, i have since regret this decision. Not only does my credit on my prepaid account run out quicker even with the free calls to other vodfone customers my battery power is running out quicker than with '3' i have no reception in most cases inside and while on a call it will simply drop out i can just change services but my girl friends cant as she will have to pay to have her phone unlocked as its locked to vodafone so this does not just affect contract consumers i believe they should not charge prepay customers to unlock their phones when they recieve poor services because this is also affecting my partner who lives innerstate!! Its unbelieveable this is happening because '3' and vodafone are now part of the same company!
27 Dec 2010 05:31:49 PM: If your friend has an iPhone tell her to google how to unlock your phone. You can do it for free.

4150 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Infinite. at 27 Dec 2010 05:26:01 PM
For months I have been wondering what is wrong with my phone. Some mornings I wake up with up to 15 messages that were sent to me days before. Often friends message me and the message will never show up. Or I'll message my friends and they never get the message. I use MMS a lot with work as well and receiving and sending pxts has now basically become pointless.

When I visited Vodafone yesterday to speak with someone about it the lady said nothing but "Haha mine does that too" and then gave me a phone number to speak with customer service. Pathetic.

Yet the very moment my billy is due (or overdue) it's cut off almost immediately.

VODAFONE ARE NOT PROVIDING ME WITH THE SERVICE I SIGNED UP FOR.

4144 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Reception at 27 Dec 2010 05:25:01 PM
I was with 3, and then they merged with Vodafone.... what a travesty.... The only place that I could get reception was standing in the middle of the road, and even then the call would only last about 5 minutes (if that) before it would drop out then I would have to call again. Rang 3 about the problem, who then referred me to Vodafone (called them on my landline because mobile kept dropping out). After an hour and a half on the phone they said that there was nothing that they could do, and in their words - "if you don't like it change to someone else". Within 10 minutes of hanging up I was in a Telstra store. Even though I was with 3, Vodafone took over everything. With 3 the reception and customer service was tolerable, after the merge with Vodfone - it was all cactus.

Before moving out to Kalgoorlie WA 4 months ago I specifically called Vodafone to make sure that I would have full coverage - they showed me the coverage map and said that I would absolutely have signal. Over the past 4 months I have had regular drop-outs and no signal. I've tried calling to complain, but they are no help what-so-ever!

Vodafone is USELESS!! How are you surpose to be contactable when the network keeps dropping out every five minutes! Then when you try and contact vodafone via the customer service number it's like a waiting marathon and then the network drops out and you have to start all over again!!! Frustrating, disappointed and pissed off are words that come to mind over vodafones lack of concern over delivering a service they promise to deliver when you sign their contracts... and whats more... they still want their bill paid on time or your service gets cut off!! If I have to listen to Lara one more time, well, I just hope I never meet the person who is that voice!!! I now actually go to Vodafone stores, ask them to ring my issues in on my behalf then leave the store to go do my errands/shopping and know that it will be at least a half hour before I'm needed back to check in on how the store person is going. I'm gobsmacked that they can't even jump the cue. Phone rage is established primarily from Vodafone experience. As a Vodafoner of over a decade (one customer service person was incredibly impressed with that) I will continue with them (only because I like the colour RED!) but I cross my fingers I never need to call because they have the most infuriating customer service I've ever experienced. AAMI is one company who answers with a human being after three rings (also a RED logoed company) - I don't believe Vodafone is any more important than AAMI. I sincerely hope that the media damage from this exposure is serious enough that Vodafone can pull finger and address it's issues as any well founded company seeking to protect itself MUST.

4119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is double fail!!! at 27 Dec 2010 05:22:55 PM
I bought a vodaphone dongle with the knowledge that I had a 7 day return policy if I did not have coverage in my area as the map showed a few black spots and this was my concern. When I got home, I discovered that I had no coverage, infact I had to walk to the back of my parents property to get any sort of signal. Definately no signal inside. The very next day I returned to the shop. I was told I had to ring customer service to renig the contract. I proceeded to spend at least 1 hour on the phone almost everynight and would go into the store on a Thursday and Saturday for A MONTH!!!! In the end, I just broke down in the shop and cried. Then, the vodaphone spent 3 hours on the phone getting it sorted. I will never consider them again. That was not acceptable.
28 Dec 2010 12:48:04 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

When I was living in qld at my parents house I never got signal and thought it was the area we lived in but before I got my contract I had full signal and could phone from within the house. I've complained with customer service and with store personal and got told vodafone is updating there network and there towers but it's been 2/3 years now and it's still the same problem. I live in Victoria now and I do have signal in my house but ones we travel the signal goes. Ive been having problem with receiving bills and after a year of over due bills and phoning them monthly I am receiving my bill and changed my plan from $69 cap to the new infinite plan. I complained severely and was frank with the customer service officer and refused to pay for my new plan. I am giving vodafone one more chance and if they don't upgrade there services (customer service, signal etc I am forced to change to a different provider.

I cancelled my plan with Vodafone, and they decided to send me a bill for over $1,500 in cancellation costs, apart from me not going to pay the bill due to lack of customer service support, very very poor mobile coverage over the Queensland and surrounding suburbs, delayed messages, email service problems. i have recently moved my mobile phone and all my company phones to telstra which so far have found to have better customer service, reception, email services.

I had been a Vodafone mobile customer for over 8 years , but times are changing and if you cant keep up with technology, then get out

4104 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Too the extreme!!! at 27 Dec 2010 05:22:09 PM
I joined Vodafail Broadband Wireless in November 2009, as part of joining over the phone I was to receive 3 months free; I was lead to believe that this would be the first 3 months of the contract, but after contacting Vodafail I was told my 3 months free would be received in the 5th, 6th & 7th month. Each month I didn't receive the free month, in which I made many long calls to Vodafail and in turn was promised each time that it would begin on the next bill. A couple of months back I emailed them to explain my situation and that I was feeling the customer service team were insulting my intelligence by continually promising my free months would happen from the next bill (having them repeat this promise at least 3 times per call :)I also requested to cancel my contract as they had not held up their end of the contract, so I was not prepared to hold up mine and would like to persue a more reparable provider. I received a reply to my email a few weeks later stating that they apologise that the discount had been received and it will happen from my next bill and of course yet again this didn't transpire. I had to take a break from this frustrating situation for a couple of months as it was driving me crazy and I was no longer being very polite to the customer service people which is extremely out of character for me, so with it now being 8 months since my first contact I would like to formally complain for the inconvenience this has caused, the time wasted, the cost to my mobile phone account I would like compensation for the call cost also. (which is also with vodafail, but that's another complaint altogether).
Thank you for taking the time to set up this web page and I hope the authorities will look into this further as it is totally unacceptable for the money we pay for these services.
Kind regards,
Leanne - leemar76@hotmail.com

My current handset keeps dropping in and out. I took it into vodafone who told me it was 2 days out of vodafones replacement warranty and that I had to take it to the other side of town and go without a phone until it was fixed. I don't have time to do this. Or Christ sake it was only 2 day, how bout giving some service. And to add to this it just keeps dropping out and usually after I have been on hold for over an hour to vodafone custom service. When u do finally get to talk to some one they keep transferring u around. I will be taking my phone and Internet to another provider who's coverage is actually good

I was loyal to Vodafone for over 10 years. I went camping with a mate and my phone was thrown in the fire. I sat on hold with their 'upgrade' department for 35 minutes before I was cut off. I called back again and spoke to an operator who told me I would have to wait another 25 minutes. I decided to just go straight into a Vodafone shop instead. I called first to make sure my upgrade could be done from the shop, and was told there would be no problem. After sitting there doing all the sign up stuff for 15 minutes, I was told it could not be done. I am now with Telstra and let me tell you, my phone now works everywhere on calls, which it certainly didn't with Voda. My broadband works everywhere, even in the country town where I grew up, which Vodafone had no chance in. My advice is to get the hell away from Vodafone as fast as you can. They are absolutely hopeless, with absolutely no customer service skills, and I would like to stab Lara to death.

Called Vodafone customer service last month... had to hold for 45 minutes. When I finally got through, I asked to downgrade my iPhone plan (I was the $59 cap, but only use a quarter of my calls, texts, data etc, so I figured it'd be wise to make my bills cheaper by downgrading). The consultant put me on the infinite $65 plan (I clearly DID NOT ask to UPgrade my plan and for MORE stuff I don't use... retard!) On top of this, instead of making my bills cheaper, it made them more expensive - due to the GST on top of the $65 cap. And now.. I can't change back to my original plan.

Gooooood service.

I am in a messy bill of around $2000. Though I may be blamed for overuse above the monthly plan of $69pm, I blame vodafone balance updates which take up to 2 days late. I also don't have any quality reception at all inside my apartment though I'm located right near Melbourne city in Hawthorn. Calling customer service takes around 30min to 45 mins to get through or never at all. I have been conned into signing a contract with vodafone

I have been with Vodafone for many years, first as a perpaid customer then on a contract. When I was on prepaid Vodafone was freat so after many years of good service I finaly trusted them enough to go in for a contract...well then it started. As soon as they knew I was locked in and they had my money for the next two years the customer service ended right there. I have called and complained brobably once a month since getting my contract in April 2009 and cant wait till April 2011 when I can call them anbd finaly tell them to jam it and not have to pay them any more money. Can't recieve mms or send despite the fact my phone has it set up, calls drop out, I get no service and my phone displays emergency only where vodafone usualy is on my screen, I was not told I would be charded my first two months at once in my first bill that arrived only 2 weeks after I joined (couldn't even wait till a month was up before they started asking for money) people can't call me despite the fact my phone is on ( they get told by recorded message that my number has been disconnected) and sms's arrive the next day. Also I have also had it happen that I have tried to call my contacts and it rings like I am calling them but their phone never rings and does not display a missed call so I dunno what going on there> I have realy had enough of talking to overseas people that I struggle to understand and having unreliable service. I am certainly not getting the service I was lead to believe that I would get.

4016 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Access, reception and coverage. at 27 Dec 2010 05:11:46 PM
I am with Revolution Telecom (Revtel) on the Vodacrapp network; and live in Mannum, with the Vodacrapp tower in clear line of site.
Service is probably available 50% of the time, with constant poor reception.
My complaints have not been addressed.
I am not on any contract and am on pre-paid; with over $100 in credit.
I have been that pissed off (over the past several years) in not being able to rely on their service; I purchased an amaysim card on the Optus network; with excellent coverage, reception and access to the network 99% of the time.
The Vodacrapp network in this area has not been expanded in this area (despite empty promises) to cater for coverage and extra demands on the service (with more users).
I am in the process of porting my number with amaysim, on the Optus network, with the loss of my $100 plus credit.
Yes; a Class Action against Vodaphone for their broken promises and piss poor service should "be a winner" for the "little person" against a "giant".
Congratulations for your stance in stating that "WE ALL HAVE HAD ENOUGH".

4004 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shocking at 27 Dec 2010 05:09:42 PM
I live in the suburb of Point Cook in Melbourne (25 mins from CBD on freeway. The Vodafone reception is shocking!! Voda's customer service call centre in Egypt is so difficult to deal with. When I politely called Vodafone's corporate headquarters in NSW I was treated like trash by the staff there! I was given a postal address to contact the 'customer correspondence team' and the response from this department was pathetic to say the least. Basically, they just send out standard letter and make the process of communicating with the company so difficult that most people just give up! I'm sure it's all designed to do exactly that!!!

3997 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Drop out/lack of coverage at 27 Dec 2010 05:07:53 PM
I have had so many issues with Vodafone; but the main two are - I signed up for one of the new beaut Netbooks for wireless internet on a laptop that is really portable. The laptop itself was great; the coverage and data speed were pathetic. Whenever I run Vodafone I had to talk to a person in Egypt who barely spoke english; and they would always tell me I am in a bad coverage area. Funny thing is I had taken it to so many places aside from my house 10kms from Brisbane CBD (been to Cairns, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane just to name a few). I guess Vodafone got sick of me ring up and the day I lost it and started yelling they put me straight through to disconnections. I got out of the contract after six months, was refunded part of my money for the months of poor service and had no early termination fee. I did have prepaid internet as well; and that was just as bad, but at least you can just stop using it. The lastest drama in the Vodafone problems was I had 3-4 days with none or sparatic coverage; occasionally I could made calls or send a text but that was pretty rare. I sent countless emails to Vodafone through the website because I couldn't ring from my mobile. The only response I got from Vodafone was detailed information on the GPRS/3G network areas (not really handy); they also advised me to check the website for outages, which I did and there were none in my area. At no point did a human from Vodafone ring me; which is deplorabe. At the time that all this was going on, ALL of the Vodafone (4 in total) sotres in my local area were closed for refurbishment so I couldn't go into a store; I did try and ring from a landline as well; but after 10 mins of waiting they hung up on me. I run a business using my mobile and over those 3-4 days I lost money because customers couldn't get through. I just really want to get out of my contract with no early exit fees. I'm currently waiting for Vodafone to make contact after lodging a complaint with the Telco Ombusman, but I'm not holding my breath

After continuous calls drop outs and failure to receive a text messages in a " couple of hours" gap, waiting for customer service representative 1.5 hours to answer my call I came to conclusion to take 5 accounts( which my family currently use) somewhere else. Vodafone told me to switch 3G off and it's not part of the "service which they have to provide"?! Have been Vodafone customer for more that 10 years and don't want to pay ridiculous fees for service which not provided. Can't wait 10 month for the contract to finished!!!

The first hour is spent listening to a recording telling me a "Customer Service Rep" will be with me shortly then they have problems with the English language. I can't stay connected long enough to recharge on the website so I've got to do it on the phone. An email about the lack of service was replied by telling me it was just my imagination - problem solved. Can I sue them for breach of contract?

Work Handsets with 3 - certainly had "drop out" issues but since the Vodafone merger the calls drop out on almost every call and as for customer service - drop outs, holds, being treated like a child by very rude helpdesk staff that olny want you to upgrade to Vodafone... maybe they could spend less money on race teams and start spending it on providing a quality service to customers.

I have reccently changed to Optus due to never ending problems with Vodafone. I can be on the phone and suddenly have my call drop out and then try to make calls and they keep failing. My friend then tried to call me back and got a different person. This has happened to me on many occasions yet no one at Vodafone can ever offer any assistance. I was unable to make calls (including emergency calls)and could only receive some txts for over 24hrs. When I went in to the nearest voafone store they informed me there was an issue which was being resolved but they could not tell me what the issue was and when it would be resolved. Since I couldn't make or receive calls I had no way of getting updates. They also told me I may be able to get compensation however I had to call their customer service number. I tried this once my phone was working again however after being transferred from several departments and waiting on hold for and extended period of time I gave up. In the end I was tired of terrible reception, bad customer service, randomly not getting voice messages for days and very slow internet so I gave up on Vodafone.

3966 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Radically poor service and reception at 27 Dec 2010 05:01:37 PM
Our small company used to have Telstra as our provider so I can fairly compare the reception and problems we have encountered since the switch to Vodaphone. We both had to go in and have their staff reset our iphones, we even had one replaced, hoping that would 'cure' our reception problem. It didnt. Finally, one of the staff, told us 'offline' that it wasnt the phones, it was the service. They had oversold it and were saturated.

We have had issues with our customers calling us and not getting through, having their voicemails take hours or even a day to register on the phone.

Absolutely everything I have read I can concur with. Is a shame. I have recently immigrated here from the States and this coverage would shame any legitimate cell phone company.

Once the contract is finished we will be switching providers. Hopefully a little bit more competition will be in the market by then and we wont have to deal with this nonsense.

3924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Never fail to disappoint at 27 Dec 2010 04:54:08 PM
As per every Vodafone customer I have experienced the usual call drop outs, reception that resembles calling from a basement and the most unhelpful, painstaking customer service procedures known to man. Of recent I was put through 3 hours of customer service hell. If not for my love for Lara's automated voice I would of given up after 10mins. I had 3 problems,
1. Removing Credit Card Details from a old number and adding same details to existing number.
2. Obtaining pin to access mailbox of previous number.
3. Accessing MyVodafone due to some unbeknown reason the website instructed to contact Vodafone.
After several attempts of trying to speak to an actual operator with no success something happened and I spoke with a human. However this representative was in billing and as Prepaid customer we aren't as important and get the good old transfer trick followed by 30mins of ridiculous music. Retry and on this occasion the individual in billing actually assisted and removed the credit details from old number and solved the voicemail pin issue and solved my girlfriends MyVodafone issue. After ending call I attempted to add my credit details to existing number however I was not able to do this via the handset, the error message advised me to contact my bank as the card details were not correct. Frustrated at this I attempted to contact customer service, several attempts later I spoke with someone after been transferred from billing for been PrePaid. This gentleman advised that he couldn't help as this department was currently closed and was unable to add the card details manually. I was very angry as I had just previously removed the details with another rep. I requested to speak to the previous rep that had assisted me previously and was told that he was not available due to it been outside of his work hours. I then asked to speak with a supervisor and was put on hold, once taken off hold I was told I was getting transferred to someone who could assist but wasn't a supervisor, I wasn't given opportunity to respond. The next rep I was put through to welcomed me and then silence, no response, no call drop out just silence. I believe I was muted, this continued for 30mins before I ended the call. My next attempt after several in between the operator told me I was unable to add my card details which I just removed from previous number because I had no available funds, apparently you require $1 which is refunded to you at a later date to register card details. They don't advise this in the call however somewhere in some terms and conditions this is stated. I was furious as you could imagine. Vodafone constant lack of help and the rudeness of operators has got to stop. Anyone who has experienced the automated voice of Lara has an idea of what we all have to endure. Its like they will do anything to not actually allow you to speak to a human. Class action is more than necessary.

2 broken handsets that apparently cannot be replaced without breaking two contracts (despite the upgrade your handsets for a little extra each month! ads I am bombarded with). My partner and I both signed up under a three months free offer which we didn't get. When I contacted them they apologised and gave me a credit, my partner however has been fighting them for over a YEAR to get his. The customer service used to be wonderful now I have been hung up on repeatedly and they see you as a problem to get off the phone -they are not interested in actually fixing your issue. We also bought our handsets online and no one seems to be responsible for phones purchased online. Right now I am counting the days to the end of my contracts.
I used to work for a telco and when you make a complaint to the ombudsman it costs the company $600 - no matter what the outcome of the complaint is. Always keep that in mind when dealing with a telco. If you are arguing over $300 it is always in the best interests of the telco to give you the money and save the cost of a complaint - so threaten the ombudsman if they do not resolve the complaint to your satisfaction and make sure they are aware of the costs their company will incur based on your complaint (a lower level call centre worker may not be aware of this and just want you off the phone).
27 Dec 2010 05:59:45 PM: If everyone here lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman (161 posts x $600) this would cost Vodafone $96,600.00
Should we all strategise and hit the Ombudsman at once?

3882 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Expensively Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 04:49:08 PM
The biggest gripe I have is with Lara, I went over to Vanuatu and forgot to get my phone set to international roaming, so I borrowed my friends phone to call Vodaphone customer service.
Straight away Lara " identified that I was calling from oversea`s and someone would be with me in just a moment ! For the next 40 minutes I was told they "are flat out at the moment but someone would be with me very soon" and other BS recorded messages ! . After giving up after 40 minutes I tried 3 more times over the next few days at different times of the day and night adding up to 1hr of waiting on hold from overseas! In the end I never got to speak to a human and never got my phone working whilst away. What my friend got was a extra couple of hundred dollars on her phone bill which I reimbursed her for and for that couple of hundred dollars I got the privilege of waiting on hold to Vodaphone`s so called Customer Service.
Vodaphone if your waiting times are so long because your so flat out dealing with customer service issues`s then at least employee more people too answer the phone and help sort out your shit

additionally, I am on a 2 year contract, it annoys me that some days I can have service at one end of my house I have an average size house)but intermittent service at the bedroom end of the house WTF.
Sometimes I have 5 bars on my phone other times I need to drive around the corner to make a phone call. Even in Sydney city sometimes there is NO Service.

So here it is. As ex staff member of Vodafone, I was disgusted to find out that Vodafone actually charge you on their premium 123 service to wait on their queues. When you ring 123 in sit on their queue, which lately are long and often you pay to sit their listening to advertising and music. Instead of actually charging you when a rep answers your call they decided to charge you to wait on the queue. Once upon time the Service Level on the 123 calls was around 95% calls answered within under 30 seconds. As a caller on 123 this Service Level is out the door. I spend so much time waiting such that I never call this service ever again. To make matters worse most customer service calls are handled overseas and after trying to get a copy of a plan agreement 5 times I will not call their customer service lines ever again. Instead I call friends that still work for Vodafone to help. I cannot believe that Vodafone can charge YOU/US to pay a premium charge to wait for their insufficient staffing levels to be able to answer your call. How is this right. The next time you call 123 and you go through to a queue remember you are paying top top dollar to listen to their advertising and rank music.
27 Dec 2010 04:53:50 PM: You're calling a premium number and complaining about cost? Just call the 1555 number then if you don't want to pay, it's not like they force you to call 123.

Customer service from vodafone is the worst i have ever come across, i have been on hold for hours at a time. I was still getting billed once i discontinued service from them.

Whats the point of having "INFINITE CALL PLAN" when you have INFINITE RECEPTION DROP OUTS! Unluckly I have instead the next worse plan, a Vodafone Cap plan.
I can't believe that I have to apologise to 1 out of every 4 people that I speak to over the mobile when the reception cuts out. I try to keep phone calls short to reduce the chances of the reception dropping. Regardless if for business or for personal use, this is really poor service. I have accepted that this the norm for Vodafone and when my contract ends this year, I'M OUT!
29 Dec 2010 11:13:45 AM: Can't you see you need an infinite plan to handle the infinite drop outs? It is perfectly symmetrical. The freak that engineered this system is a genius. Of the freak variety. Genius freak. Genius super freak.

Extremely poor coverage, I have complained about this many times and I just get excuses. Since the customer service has been moved overseas the level of service has hit rock bottom. I've had the worst service ever from vodafone in the last month, yet I am still waiting for my complaint letter to be read and actioned by a real person and not by an automated email response. The last off shore customer service man I spoke to continually said sorry to me and to give Vodafone a couple of weeks/months to sort out the issues. I'm sorry to YOU Vodafone but I have been waiting for years to sort out your crap. I regret signing up with them for another 2 years! I have had a fairly small problem (as I still only use the older GSM service !), as I couldn't re-charge my Mobile, so I called the Customer Service call centre . Many hours later, and speaking to numerous people who kept referring me to someone else, I gave up ! So I sent an email, and 1 week later received a message apologising for the delay, and hoping I had solved the problem in the meantime ! I hadn't, but decided to go into a Vodaphone store instead .It was a good move as I was quickly served by a friendly lass, who soon had my phone re-charged - problem over ! So it seems that besides the reception problems, Vodaphone have a real problem with their call-centres and email customer services !

GO FIGURE!! I guess they have sent 99% of their call centres overseas with little or no training. PATHETIC!!

3785 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is network at 27 Dec 2010 04:40:32 PM
I was with 3 mobile and my contract ended the person in the shop convinced me to sign up with vodaphone. he said that vodaphone would have better signal in the postcode than 3 although i used to get network coverage with 3 mobile and now with vodaphone i have absolutly no network coverage. the most important thing i said to the guy many times was having good signal strength at the places i go. he looked it up and said i would have signal. got home and i have no signal. have been back to the shop many times to try and resolve the issue and i have had no luck, the shop is telling me to ring customer service and i have done that after being on hold for ages they did nothing several times. so my new 2 yr contract is absolutly usesless due to having no network coverage about 90 percent of the time. i have a business to run an the phone is really makingit hard.

Shoddy customer service for the last 2 years, but more recently, a complete loss of signal in my house, irrespective of where I stand. This is a completely new problem and has resulted in me standing out in the rain to field calls. Not impressed.
27 Dec 2010 04:43:46 PM: Oh that is so true in my home too. I used to get partly decent service, now I sometimes have to actually leave the house to make calls. Also, I spend a fair amount of time in Turramurra on the upper North Shore, which is a completely "dead area" and has no Vodaphone service whatsoever in certain streets (and Im talking about the Pacific Highway area, not right up in the Ku-Ring-Gai bush area!)

Bought a Dell inspiron package with Vodafone 2years ago which included the notebook & wireless Internet, that became a total waste of money after the inspiron's motherboard failed after 9 months of use previous to the hardrive failing within 3 months. I tried returning the product from the place of purchase with a response that it was Dell's problem, so I rang Dell who responed by saying the product was out of warranty. I asked about our consumer rights in QLD with a stern reply that this doesn't apply to Dell. Went back to the Vodafone store of purchase with a response from staff 'if you ring customer service & ask for loyalties they might help you if your lucky!' I tried ring the C/service but there was no loyalties option. I give up! so I'm still paying for this contact which I don't have the facilities to use which were supplied by Vodafone, Thanks VODAFAIL

Vodafone you are just shit. Service is shit. Customer service (if that's what you call it) is shit. Your RePs in your shit stores are shit. Your company logo should say Vodashit. Once my contract ceases I am going to remove my sim-card and send it back to you smeared in shit. Lara your automated voice personality sounds really sexy; but I bet in person she looks like shit.
Really hope Arun Sarin (CEO) pulls his finger out of his shit hole and corrects these coverage issues.

Customer for 2 years, first twelve months excellent. For the past 12 months my payment even though they are often paid in cash and at PO they are not credited. Currently 4 months behind according to vodafone. Staff at Camberwell great have assisted to get payments credited ion the past but this time they are struggling and have been trying for over a week prior to Christmas. Vodafone India tell me to read out the receipt numbers, then tell me they won't credit them because I could be making them up. Phone goes straight to message bank. Phone cuts it self off when I go to Daylesford every 2 weeks. Often needs Vodafone assistance to get back on. Reception poor in many regional places. On my plan I am now being charged extra for Victorian calls outside Melbourne. $79 plan now $93

3737 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Over use messages - thanks after it hit $400 at 27 Dec 2010 04:35:49 PM
I have a $79 plan with Vodafone.
I was using my phone heavily due to a family incident.
I regularly tried to check the account balance on 1512.
The service "was temporarily unavailable call back later".
So I did call/sms and then try getting to speak to a human - who eventually conceeded the service had failed and was out of order for at least a week.
She referred me to the online web site and I could check it there.
I asked how can that be so if you cannot access it and help me - she said it works.
Two hours later trying online - and smsing the 1512 number - still "out of order".
Eventually after another week I started getting your service is abnormal please check your account usage by contacting us, using 1512 or checking online.
Still no access, no help.
I stopped using it.
Called the vodafone help line who said they could not help me as the balance and usage system was unavailable.
Funny 2 days later my bill was generated with a $432 bill for excessive usage.
When i called "customer service" and ended up speaking to a supervisor she said "you used it, you pay, or we will place it in the hands of a debt collector".
Being upset I wrote a letter and explained the situation and the lengths that I went to manage the situation.
Despite the letter with the detailed explanation I got a letter back "thanks for your recent letter, you used this amount of service so you are required to pay".
Thanks Vodafail.

3721 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100 at 27 Dec 2010 04:33:39 PM
I have made numerous complaints to Vodafone, stating - no service, drops out, and the list goes on... They sent my on a wild goose chase, stating that the CBD has no problems and it would be my sim card or handset. So off I went to a Vodafone store to get a new sim card... but that didn't fix the problem. So I rang again, they said it could be the handset.. I kept on asking what there any coverage issues with Vodafone... They reply no. Voadafone asked if I wanted a investigation report on my location where the drops outs and etc were happening, I said yes... well they did the investigation report, but for the wrong location - mind you I GAVE THE ADDRESS OF MY WORK LOCATION... but they decided upon themselves to do my home location... I only found that out when they told me that the investigation wasw complete and my home location had low signals (or something similar)well I said that was the wrong location. Vodafone said that they will do another investigation report on the right location CBD... guess what... someone called 5 minutes later confirming that I wanted a investigation report on my home location... at this time I was fuming... I said "NO NOT MY HOME LOCATION, BUT MY WORK LOCATION". Vodafone really need to train their customer service staff in handling customer service...

Mind you I have been a Vodafone customer over 10 years, but after I got the TIO involved Vodafone has taken me off contract, so I may go to another provider. I realised that Vodafone don't care about the customers at all...

My Mess is that I have been connected to Vodafone for over eight years and have always found the customer service excellent. I do know they have had problems lately with coverage and drop outs in NSW but that is because they are upgrading the network and it always causes problems when new systems are intoduced. My main complaint is with reading winges from people who have problems with their handsets. Telco companies do not make phones they only suppy the network to use the phone on. As for people complaining about hign invoices for using their phone over the limit they are entitled too Well what do you expect
27 Dec 2010 07:10:19 PM: finally someone with some sense of reality !!! this page is ridiculous-i thought it was fine-everyone is entitled to their opinion-until i read every slightly positive post has been tagged as being written by the Vodafone CEO-im sure they would havebetter ways to spend their time.

Have been with Vodafone for 10 years straight. Never had worse service than now. I am sure the service has got worse recently, very rarely do I receive 3G and very rarely solid data connections. My calls constantly drop out and I have been forced into Visual Voicemail which I simply cannot rely on. Since customer service moved overseas it is almost impossible to resolve issues through the shuffling of calls from one area to the other (very reminiscent of Dell).

I really don't feel like going on about the pain i went through with customer service, when they claimed they hadn't received a payment which i did make and had proof of, i still don't really understand part of it - Ridiculous

3664 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Lost a 12 year customer! at 27 Dec 2010 04:27:38 PM
I have been with Vodafone since 1998.

I have been pretty happy (obviously).

Since I signed my last contract in June 2008 I have had non-stop issues with Vodafone.

First it was billing issues, and now it is constant dropped calls and poor reception.

I have been living at my current address for 5 years and had no issues, in the last month or more I have had next to no reception, and on some days I cannot even get ANY reception.

I'm also so F'in sick of Lara - "she" needs to be taken out back and put to sleep! I'm sure the boffins and marketing "gurus" at Vodafone think she "humanises" the customer service experience.... I'd prefer to have to go 10 menus deep selecting from up to nine numbers at each level than listen to her false "chirpy, friendly, ever so (NOT) helpful "voice"".

I had Christmas SMS messages I sent to friends that were received on the 27th!!! EXPRESS POST letters would get there quicker!!!

Considering their network cannot handle the voice/data needs of existing customers Vodafone should be BANNED from acquiring new customers until they can properly provide for their existing users.
27 Dec 2010 04:29:37 PM: Oppps - that was meant to be June 2009...

I cannot wait until June 2011 comes round... I will take much pleasure in informing Vodafone I will never be a customer of theirs again!!
27 Dec 2010 04:32:56 PM: Just signed up for the lawsuit... I am usually against such trawling for lawyers fees, but Vodafone deserve it, I'll give the lawyers 100 percent of any damages they win - just on the principle of showing Vodafone they suck sweaty, smell, hairy nuts

3658 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EVERYTHING is wrong with them! at 27 Dec 2010 04:26:37 PM
I have been with Vodafone for years and never really had any problems with either reception or customer service. Over the last 6 months I have no reception in most places and when I do it takes minutes to even start ringing a number, my voice mails take hours and/or days to come through and when they do I cant even access them!! When people try to call me it goes straight to voice mail or just beeps and my phone doesn't even ring!! I have called their customer service so many times and keep speaking to useless people who tell me that "Australia is a large country, so you cant have reception everywhere" and if I want to leave I have to pay a massive exit fee... anyways I have logged a complaint with the ITO and they were great and say I have grounds to get out of my contact. I would urge everyone to do the same! I am still waiting to hear from Vodafone but hopefully this time in a few weeks I will be with Telstra!
27 Dec 2010 04:28:19 PM: sorry TIO*
29 Dec 2010 08:34:59 PM: OMG me to!
29 Dec 2010 08:53:26 PM: Mee too I was so excited to get my new i phone 4 and now I hate it.. I know its not the phone but the provider. I can't make calls on it as no-one can hear me long enough and then it drops out.. I might get pic messages 2 days later. And yes sometimes doesn't even ring. Its just so frustrating. I nearly threw it through the window at the vodafone store, when once again no one was willing to help me out. It really is a disgrace that in this day and age we have to go to these limits to get some good old fashioned serviced and Communication.
29 Dec 2010 09:11:30 PM: I moved to the big T about a year ago and both my brother and sister got out of their contracts (thanks TIO) and also moved to the big T. We are all incredibly happy with our move it's a little more expensive but well worth it.

i have been with vodaphone for over 9 yrs. i was going to change to telstra at the end of my last contract but vodaphone gave me a deal i was happy with. this is where it ends. every bill since has billed me over $160 over my cap. in all the years i've been with them i've been over maybe 6 times. i call 1512 regulary to make sure i'm not over but with my last bill on the 28th november it told me i had $40 credit. On my bill statement it starts charging me as of that day. Even though i didn't use my phone much they are telling me i used grossly over my cap over the next couple of days. i had $4 credit today, made 1 call in which went to message bank so i hung up straight away. My credit now goes down to $2. Then it drops out all the time so they charge you another '$1.15' straight up to remake the call. Then there is the internet. Most of the time i can't get on. Then there is the fact i can't understand what customer service is saying to try and rectify my problems. Waiting in line up at vodaphone at the hyperdome qld for 2 hrs with a 3 yr old,8 mths pregnant to find out the guy couldn't help me, i have to talk to someone i don't understand in India.

I use my phone for work, and there is nothing more frustrating than having clients complain about how they CANNOT get a hold of me, and how they just go to voicemail without the phone actually ringing!! On top of this when I can actually dial through to listen to my voicemails, I can't always call people back even though I apparently have full reception!! I have been with vodafone for the last 4 years, and now I'm contracted for another 2 years (epic fail on my behalf). I'm more often than not in credit when I pay my bills, and ALWAYS polite to customer service when I finally get through to someone. The least they can do is actually povide a service that works! That is after all what I'm paying for. Not paying them again till their service actually works, and moving to telstra!

3641 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Slow 3G wireless at 27 Dec 2010 04:25:27 PM
I live in Nth Illawarra, for the last 10 weeks the Vodaphone 3g wireless broadband has been very slow. From the exact same position in my house the signal strength varies so much from "very poor" to "very good" but averages "poor." Consequently using the Internet is usually SLOW. A month ago I found it impossible to make a phone call complaint to them, so I emailed them. A Dirk emailed back and said to call them and that my email complaint status was "resolved." Wrote back to Dirk and said it was not resolved and to answer my email, instead another direction to ring them, What a ruse to piss off legitimate complaining customers. After this I actually got thru and logged my complaint, never heard from them again since (well over 3 weeks ago). Extremely poor customer service, am seriously considering sending a letter to Vodaphone soon saying they are in breach of contract and I will not pay my monthly installment. So glad Vodaphone are receiving so much bad publicity, I will never recommend them, crap 3 G wireless broadband and even crappier (non-existant) customer complaint handling. What makes me even madder is they spend big money sponsering V8 Supercars and the cricket - how about spending it on delivering its contracted serice reliably and not so slow.

Me and my partner are with 3 (vodafone) and our coverage is the worst i have ever experienced. We will stand in one spot and the coverage will drop in and out constantly, we were told we would get coverage at our house but it is very poor. We have tried calling customer service and explaining our situation but they put us on hold and inevitably the phone drops out because of the poor coverage. We cant make phone calls and have a conversation with anyone because the phone drops out and we find that really fustrating when you are running a business. Im a local business owner on the central coast NSW Australia who needs phone to work.
I have multiple call drop outs daily, 3G does not work at all. Other data is super slow.

I was advised by Vodaphone customer service to sim swap, did that, got 2 new handsets and the issues still remains.

All the above issues and Im trying to run a business with no or very poor telecommunication. Vodaphone customer service would not cooperate and there offer was $100 credit towards my bill.

My issue have been ongoing for in excess of 6 months. $100 does not cut it.....
