Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6228 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Uber Fail at 28 Dec 2010 09:13:23 AM
I am a 3 customer. Recently vodafail and 3 merged. For a number of months since the merge I have found that my class drop out within the first 5 minutes of making a call. This NEVER happened before the merge. I could talk for 45 minutes without interruption. I am now of the belief that whatever dirty tricks are being done to Vodafail customers are now applying to 3 customers. I am also of the belief that call drop outs could be company policy. This would ensure they can stiff you for 3 flagfalls for what is essentially the same call.

I think 3 customers should be added to this!

6147 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Liars at 28 Dec 2010 08:30:14 AM
Before flying into Brisbane from Auckland, on 7th November 2010, I had contacted Vodafone AU to find out what was needed for a new Prepay SIM to be activated quickly. I was told that if I purchased the SIM card plus a recharge this would be activated within 15 minutes. I arrived, bought a Prepay pack and a recharge pack, and was unable to activate it through the phone number provided by Vodafone. They told me to try web activation. Still nothing. They said wait 24 hours, still nothing. On 8th November Vodafone customer support informed me they were having a problem with their system and they would have to manually activate my SIM card. They said this would take 4 days to sort out.

I purchased the Vodafone AU prepay pack because I was in Australia for 4 days to be with a terminally-ill parent and needed to always be contactable. Despite having this information, Vodafone AU were unable to establish a connection for me. I left Australia with an unused, unactivated Prepay pack and unused recharge. Vodafone AU refused to refund these, despite telling me over the phone that they knew of these issues at the time they advised me activation would only take 15 minutes. They have not responded to my emailed complaints.

6140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They are an embarassment, a disgrace and an insult at 28 Dec 2010 08:26:22 AM
I have been having problems with vodafone coverage on my iPhone for over two years.

In Sept (2010) I became aware that I was unable to send email from my phone. Since then I have spent literally hours waiting to get through to so called customer service. The wait was never less than 50 minutes and on one occasion I held out for one hour and fifty. The excuse was always the same - external ISP's were blocking the vodafone outgoing server because of a spam issue! A vodafone technical rep told me on one occasion that the problem was affecting approx 40% of the vodafone customer base. (Wouldn't you think that would be sufficient enough to go public on the matter and let people know there was an issue - if for no other reason than to put additional pressure on the alleged ISP's?) But not vodafone. Sweep it under the carpet and tell people all will be fixed up in a 'few days'! What a joke!

After weeks of this 'service' and leaving messages for someone from Customer Service to call me I contacted the TIO. At least that got a response but (irony or ironies) due to poor coverage everytime someone called me the call dropped out! However, when I did manage to call back immediately on the number that came up on my mobile I got a message to the effect of 'this person is not taking voice messages' or we cannot take your call right now please call back later'. As I said, 'customer service'!!!

In the midst of all this I got a letter from the vodafone Resolutions Team saying they had tried to contact me and if I didn't contact them by the 18th Dec they would consider my complaint resolved. Rich or what. I promptly replied saying if I hadn't heard from them by the 18th Dec I would take it they were accepting my position that they were in breach of their contractual duties and they were accepting that I was released from my contract with no further payments required.

LAst week I finally managed to get a call from a gentleman at their Resolutions Team who offered to release me from my contract but asked me to pay $600 in order to be able to keep the iPhone. I refused and put the proposition that as a good will gesture for the disgraceful service, time lost, disruption etc they should cancel the contract and offer the phone as a good will gesture. The person I spoke to was talk to his supervisor and get back to me. I'm still waiting.

In short, vodafone is a disgrace as a national carrier, an embarassment to the telecommunications industry and an insult to its customers.

I will be contacting the legal firm considering the class action and making all my records - dates, times, mobile numbers for vodafone staff as well as copies of all my correspondence with both vodafone and the TIO available to support the action.

It is great to see this web site and congratulations to those involved. I considered setting one up myself at one point but opted instead to try and raise the issue through some other channels, including Talk Back radio but without any success.

I am happy to be involved in any future activities on this matter and vodafone in general because 'service' of this 'quality' should not be kept a secret!

Rgds

Jordan
28 Dec 2010 09:51:22 AM: Jordan - what was the outcome of your TIO complaint?
28 Dec 2010 07:21:48 PM: They have given Vodafone 20 days to respond to my follow up compliant about missed / dropped calls from their Resolution Team and the fact that I could not get through to the numbers those calls came from. My complaint has been escalated to a Level 2 complaint. I am happy with the TIO's response. At least it got vodafone act. I should have mentioned above that vodafone has been aware of the outgoing email issue since August. As per my post above I expect vodafone to release me from my contract (I've been with them ten years), waive outstanding bills and I will now galdly return the iPhone. I'll keep you briefed.

My wife and I became Vodaphone Customers 5 weeks ago,my wife is almost due with our second child and we have a 4 year old autistic son so we needed a decent mobile phone service. When we went to sign the contracts we specifically asked and were shown that we were in a zone that was green representing that we had good service. We live in the Newcastle Region. The frustration we have faced ever since is unbelievable, and to speak to a vodaphone was impossible, I spent over 30 mins waiting for a billing enquiry then a further 90 minutes waiting to speak to someone about our service difficulties, my wife and I were sitting in the same room and we couldn't get service.
when I got the ombudsman involved after several attempts to speak to vodaphone, my wife and I were ready to get out of the contracts, they tried to stall us and took several conversations with various people before they accepted blame and said we could send our handsets back without penalty which was a week ago and my wife checked our accounts last night and they have penalised us for contract termination, once again we are being lied too and will be seeking help from the mobile ombudsman.
28 Dec 2010 08:04:09 AM: Hi 6086 if you ported to another carrier the system will charge the early exit fee but that is wiped off when the handset is returned.

6059 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 100% at 28 Dec 2010 07:47:12 AM
I was originally with 3 and then it got taken over by Vodafone and this was the time I renewed my contract for two years. Since renewing with 3 under the Vodafone header and products I had consistent call drop outs. I could literally have my phone sitting on a table in front of me and watch the bar signals go up and down and then the call would drop out. This was consistent! At the time 3 Vodafone told me I am in a good coverage area. December 2010 I went in to look at finding a new plan to discover that I was now living in a bad coverage area... To this fact I found out that Vodafone was not going to be improving its 3 products anymore thus the coverage was only going to get worse. To this I discovered that they were going to 'migrate' me over to Vodafone in two days time without me knowing! Furthermore, if I wanted to do it that day before my next billing cycle they were going to charge me $45 flat rate for the 2 days + another $45 to have payments in advance + my $45 cap for that month. I could had avoided those fees if I waited 2 days and went in on my time whilst I should be at work or I would had been migrated over on the current plan with no fees. I had been a 3 Vodafone customer for 7 years and I asked them to give me a reason to stay with them.... they replied with, why should you leave? Optus won me over... 3 Vodafone then tried to stop me going to Optus by only discharging me from their network after 2 business days - if they waited a few more hours they would had charged me an extra $69 as it would had entered my new billing period! NEVER going 3 Vodafone AGAIN!

I completely and utterly loathe the service of Vodafone but was attracted by the great prices..... BAD move. I have had numerous issues with this poor exceuse for a telecommunications company for years with signals dropping out, internet not working, phones being disconnected etc. The latest was outrageous and it has had a significant impact on my business. I had noticed that some of my clients hadn't been replying to my emails which I thought was odd so I rang them. Turns out that they didn't receive any emails at all. I rang Vodafone to find out what on earth was happening....... After numerous hours of hold, being handballed all over the place I spoke to a 'genius' who indicated that due to a technical error some of me emails weren't getting through to their destination.... I asked the gentleman on the other end of the phone how long this had been happening for and he originally dodged the question until I pressure him and he finally said 'Over two months'!!! I then proceeded to ask why customers weren't notified of this and what I was supposed to do to find out which emails were successful. His answer to the first questions was they would have to ring up to find out!! His answer to the second questions was that I should ring up ALL of the people I had spoken to to find out whether they had received the email. That is 2 months worth of emails!!!! Sure I have nothing better to do with my time. They said this problem would be rectified and that I would be notifed when it had. That is now over three months ago and I have still heard nothing... As such I have rerouted my emails so that they don't need to go through Vodafone. I am also refusing to pay any future bills from these idiots. For a telecommunications company they do anything BUT communicate, especially to their customers. I hope their business goes under in Australia.
Congrats to the guy who set this up. I had the same thoughts but was too consumed by rage and didn't want to spend any more of my time on them.

Vodafone has the gall to form a social networking team to spread lies and rumours about other network providers and the operator of this site.

That's a slap in the face of your upset customers Vodafone.

Why do you need to reinforce your lying, cheating, substandard ways? Perhaps these young savvy people can be put to better use by actually helping.

I would be happy to provide examples of Vodafones mischievous behaviour from this site and others.

5910 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Customer service at 28 Dec 2010 06:33:32 AM
I purchased a plan that included music downloads etc.I tried everything to get music onto the phone that was supplied to me. I spent endless hours on the phone mostly because "Lara" couldn't work out where to send my calls. My calls were diverted to Malaysia where the operator told me to 'Just go with another server" and HUNG UP ON!

I finally had some luck when I rang a store in Sydney and the helpful chap told me that my phone was not one that I could use the plan on. I took it back to my local store where I bought it and was told "Not My Fault". At the same time I pointed out that I was supposed to be having free Vodafone to Vodafone calls. They informed me that I was supposed to ring up and start this up myself. How the hell was I supposed to know. In all I had paid for 4 months worth of calls that were supposed to be free. I told the storeperson I was not happy and he said "you're free to go with someone else" - bullocks, I still contract.

I hate Vodafone, I hate LARA and I let everyone I know not to go with Vodafone.

5836 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is near complete fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:01:53 AM
i've been a customer since 2000 and the reception in the last 3 or so years has been bad. even when i'm calling from city to city, i have dropouts. even within seconds of the receiver answering the call. personally, i think they want to make money from connection fees. sometimes i have to call 4 times just to have a conversation.

the other issue is MMS. i sent a picture of my new puppy to some friends and i got messages from some people - one person received the message SIX times! others 2, others 4, the lucky ones got it once.
i tried to complain and called 1511 and after battling it out with voice activated lara, i got to talk to someone in a call centre overseas. she pretended not to hear me when i starting making the complaint and get this - she said that she can't hear me and the connection must be faulty (tell me how can a telecommunications multinational be allowed to have poor connection to the phone help desk??????) - then started reciting "please call back during the business hours of ..." to which i was appalled and tried to get her to 'hear' me, she repeated herself again.

then i said - "you're lying"
to which she replied (with perfect timing as if she'd heard me) - "goodbye"
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i decided to call again and after waiting for 30 minutes, gave up.

so i emailed complaints. they gave me the run around. eventually after being passed through 2 people, i was advised to call yet another stupid number. i give up!

i have decided to pay for the MMS's and switch telcos as soon as my blasted contract is over.

i don't normally get riled up but this multinational is really giving me the expletive.

5822 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Appalling at 28 Dec 2010 05:50:08 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer since 2000, and at first was pretty satisfied. Just last year I upgraded my contract to receive a new phone and some discounts with 3G data. Then this year a USB modem to supply data to my new Macbook. When I agreed to terms I was adamantly told I was in an area which received good service and coverage.Again and again I explained I had no land line at home and the USB modem would be my only source of connection for data transfer. I was also lied to about the price I was to be charged for my contract. I negotiated a price for the USB modem, which included a 25% discount. My USB modem arrived in the post, with instruction to phone Vodafone to connect. In order to connect I was instructed I had to verbally agree to the contract which was supplied to me with USB modem pack, which differed to the one I had negotiated over the phone. I was then instructed to agree to the contract provided and it would be rectified once I had done so. When I later inquired to the amount I was paying, and explained my situation, I was told in no uncertain terms that no such discount was, or could have ever been offered. A check of my supposedly recorded con-versation when I first negotiated failed to appear i guess, as I was never granted an explanation I was promised. I swallowed this and moved on. Then in the last six months I have suffered endless connection and data download problems. I have complained and they have filled out trouble tickets. At different times I have been told differing accounts of why my data connection is either slow or not working. Rangining from the construction of the building I am in, which has not changed, the position of my building, which has not changed, that I am in a bad area, or area of low coverage, which is the same area I was in when I first agreed to terms with Vodafone, which worked fine. I live in a one bedroom house with no construction of houses in my immediate area, which was another excuse offered by Vodafone. When trying to discuss problems with customer care, at times being on the phone for over an hour dealing with people who are obviously not interested or understanding of your problems it becomes very frustrating. My latest call to Vodafone on Boxing day must have interupted Xmas celebrations at their call center. During the cheering and applauding in the background my helpful customer care operator would be non responsive, at times not listening to my explanations, then I was being treated as if I was being difficult. I was told that where I live had been experiencing difficulties ? No kidding!!! I was also told that there would be no improvements in the near future and that was that !!!!! Not good enough VODAFONE !

5756 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very at 28 Dec 2010 04:48:49 AM
I have been using vodafone for about 5 or 6 months now and i have come to realise making the switch to them was not the best idea. I made the switch because of their great cap plans and good deals in which they offered, not realising, the coverage they had was very poor. Since I have switched to them, I would say it has been at least once a week where the signal would cut out for at least a few hours. I know it is not just my phone because I have friends within the same town that have experienced the same thing at the same point in time. I am also becoming annoyed at the usage of the internet on my phone and the either slow speeds, "timing out" or "no response" messages I keep receiving when using the feature quite regularly. If I am keeping to the contract, then why aren't they, by supplying me with a problem free and consistent service signal?

5725 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolute Pits at 28 Dec 2010 02:36:49 AM
I am now overseas, but I had the worse experience with Vodafone since their stupid merge with 3, ACCC hear this: you should never had approved this. The Australian public hates it. I had been with Vodafone for quite some time now, from the days they had the Metro Wireless plans and then they sold it to Iburst who disappeared and then I am back with Vodafone again since they agressively sold their data services. However I have a voice service with them too.All up I have 3 connections with them, 1 voice and 2 data.
Last month, I remembered I had no data service for a whole 10 days!!!! It was EDGE and then nothing!!
I thought I paid for a 3G service? Their customer service is pathetically overseas, condescendingly gave me a 3rd degree as if I do not know apples from orange after having their service for nearly 3 years now. Even their Australian call centre staff are no better, I had billing issues where they also talk to me in condescending manner and would not offer to help and refused to put me to a manager when I ask for one, The call centre staff (when this was in Australia) told me their managers never ever talk to customers. Also, they never call you back on any issues, the staff told me they are prohibited from making calls to customers as they only take calls coming in so they insist I call them back wait in queue and jam their lines to get updates on my problems. What sort of phone company is this where the staff are not allowed to call the customers to update the customers on a problem they need to solve in the first place? They also made so many errors in my bills for so many months it's not even funny. Also in the past, 2 phones they sent to me were lost in the mail and they refused to believe me even after the courier company told me it was lost, they insist that I wait 4 to 6 weeks to prove that it was truly lost when they could have just called the courier company to ask and they refused but kept challenging me.
Back to the most recent problems, my calls was cut out for no reason in the middle of a conversation and I was thinking it was my phone when indeed now it is a fact that it was Vodafone all this time, very sneaky, never tell the truth. Vodafone, stop lying to people and stop pretending this is something that will go away and stop teaching your staff to be rude to customers when your staff could not handle a problem, which is most of the time; Vodafone's own doing. Also teach your staff never to hang up on a customer. I had calls I made to their call centre, where after waiting and explaining the issues, half way thru, the call was conveniently hung up and they never call you back even though they know how to reach you.

Vodafone, what a load of shit.

ps, a fact... 90% of people in debt under the age of 25 are in debt to phone companies.

I can't see how much of my 6GB allowance I have used on my phone plan... I haven't been able to get ANY type of allowance usage for 3 weeks now. which means I am UNABLE to see when I am about to go over my allowance. When I called INDIA and asked them what could be done they replied with "nothing sir". I asked them what would happen if I went over my allowance due to Vodafone System Malfunction... their reply you ask?? "you will be charged per MB over your allowance, that is correct sir" I asked them would I get a refund? their re-ply "Not at this stage, no sir" I emailed Vodafone through their email service and I got a basic reply "We will not credit any over usage, but here is $50 for your next 2 bills just in case... call us when your bill comes in if you have any other issues" I tell you what guys... the next call Vodafone is getting from me will be from my TIO representative. ABSOLUTELY ROPABLE, disgusted, never ever again vodafone. pick up your game.

I have vodafone prepaid. I have had several issues over the past 2 years, mostly in the last 6 months. these issues have included, but arent limited to: not receiving any texts for 48 hrs, then receiving them all at once, despite having reception the entire time, being able to send texts, and rebooting my phone; poor/no network coverage despite the fact i live very close to melbourne cbd; and the most annoying: one day i sent a text, then got a reply from my friend asking why i had sent multiple texts (about 6). this happened with others throughout the day - some texts going to the same person up to a dozen times. when i called vodafone to sort the issue out, they replied that they had network problems and were working to resolve it. when i asked if i was being charged for the multiple texts, they replied that i was, and that i would have to call them back once they have fixed the problem to (somehow) be reimbursed. i dont see why it should be MY responsibility to resolve this issue. a) HOW would i ever know when vodafone had resolved their internal issue?! and b) i DONT want to wait on hold AGAIN just to talk to a foreign operator who cannot understand me. i wasted a prepaid card that day. i have already been considering switching providers, and now after seeing how many others are disgruntled, i WILL be. as vodafone customers of 12 years or more, we have found the service to be really disgusting in regards to coverage within country areas and sometimes you do not have to be in a country area, we had spent a week in the town of 1770 for a holiday , as to our disgust we had no service in the 1770 area now this is a coastal town where you would expect phone coverage as optus and telstra had coverage as w had friends that were in the same caravan park and they had reception as we never. even when we had travelled from 1770 to gladstone for a day outing we still had no coverage with our vodafone service if you could call it service, we have even been driving on the sunshine coast in between Nambour and Maroochydore and have been having a conversation and the service would drop out and mind to say that is still doing this to this day.

About two months ago, I paid my account and i had over paid the account by $1700 by the slip of a finger and pushing the wrong number when confirming details via the bpay system, once i had realised what i had done, i ieadiately started to panick I then contacted the Vodafone customer service and what do you know there was no helpful service, what ever happened to keeping the customer happy. I had explained what had happened to the customer service member and they had told me to contact my bank, so I did this immeadiately and my banking institution Replied back to me that once the transaction takes place via bpay that they are not ab;e to stop the transaction from going through and they then proceeded to say to contact Vodafone back and request that the overpayment be reimbursed back to us.

So as you would expect i returned the call back to Vodafone, they then proceeded to tell me that they could not put the money back into the account as it would take 24 - 48 hrs to do this, but before this could happen I would need to fax the vodafone office a copy of our Bank statement to show that the money had definiately had came from our account, I then explained to them that our Bank statements only came every quarter and it was only the beginning of the quarter as it was september and we would not recieve a bank statement for another 2- 3 months and that it was a weekend as it was a friday that i had overpaided the account, but to no avail they were not going to help with this situation. so on an unhappy note to the end of the conversation with the vodafone customer service i explained that i was not happy with theyre explaination as to why they could not pay our money back into our bank account even when i was able to,provide them with all of the relevant banking details as to what account the money had come out of and our vodafone details as to our vodafone account details they still did not budge from the fact that they wanted the bank statement faxed to them.

my next few words with them was that i was going to take it the the Telecommunications ombudsman, of our state, they still did not budge but the next day my husband had recieved a phone call from vodafone and they had said that they would be sending a bank cheque to us for the overpayment and this would take any where from 2 - 5 working business days to acheive even though we had paid it by bpay we still had to wait for the cheque. It then proceeded to be a further 3 weeks before we had recieved the cheque from vodafone.

we then proceeded about 8-10 weeks ago we had requested for our contract to be cancelled as we where not happy with the service provided by vodafone we have a short time left with vodafone on our contracts and we are wishing to have them cancelled, and as you can imagine we are still waiting to hear back from vodafone in regards to our contracts as they were having to do an investigation into our allegations against them as a provider of our service, which there is no service from vodafone if anyone was to ask me about the vodafone service i would be saying to them to really think long and hard about going with the company vodafone before they sign a contract with them. as you can see we have not had a great experience with vodafonein the 10 - 12 years that we have had our 2 mobile phones with them. signed disgruntelled vodafone customer

I am from syd and have signed up for my second contract in a row with them and thinking to myself the issues i had with the old phone were just that..WITH THE OLD PHONE ...but they were not!!! Its Vodafones CRAP service

I am only 20 years old and my original contract was 114 unlimited - The service was nothing short of HORENDOUS between call droputs and almost 0 3G Network coverage but stupid me thought "Well if i get a new contract and a new phone then all the issues should be resolved". Unfortunately for me that wasnt how it panned out.

Signing up to Vodafones 79 cap proved no difference - and even with the new phone.I decided to call Vodafone and spoke to a "Rick" and after explaining to him my situation i simply wanted out of the contract because i am not getting the service that i am paying for. Though do you think that was good enough?????

"Rick" then said "oh ill call you back tomorrow with a resolution" Surely enough that did not happen till several days later in which he said "i left you a voicemail" - (so did i not get the voicemail cause of their shitty service or was he lying?) He then proceeded to try and trouble shoot the device with me...WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO TO A PHONE BUT RESET NETWORK SETTING AND REBOOT!!! I have tried to reboot and reset every single component but it never changed a thing!!!!!!!!!

The part that REALLY pissed me off:

Rick then asked me questions and he said the main part is for me to tell him exactly which calls have failed in the last few days under what numbers and at what time... IS THIS A FU**ING JOKE? IF THERE SUPPORT WS IN AUS I WOULD HAVE DRIVEN THERE AND SHOWN HIM WHAT TIME IT IS!!! At that time i was so frustrated with what he'd asked me to do i just left it... i felt i had NO chance with these people and just had to stop and quit there...I mean...the customer service guy himself had NO clue..he had to hang up and call me backabout 5 times with answers.

Until i came across this site!!!! PLEASE lets voice this so we can at least get what we deserve...and thats good service and at bare minimum - WHAT WE PAY FOR!!

Summary of what i experience:

Late or no voicemails being received
FREQUENT drop out of calls
Texts not being sent and having to restart the phone or reset the service
"NO SERVICE" displaying in which a restart would have to take place yet again!

I can come up with plenty more if you need me to!

If there is a way i can get some help to fight these giants please contact me on anthony@djanthum.com THANKS for your help!!
28 Dec 2010 12:20:18 AM: this is exactly what happened to me, they must have same scripting to read. They never called me back - I ended up giving them them my home# as we kept dropping out! Unbelievable they are thieving liars!! I agree, we must do something soon!

I have only been with Vodafone for 2 months and I have had very unstable reception, numerous call drop-outs and very slow data speed. My phone is constently searching for network even in major shopping centres, not to mention using internet. I felt being lied to that Vodafone representitive told me that Vodafone provides much better reception coverage than 3 network, which now is obviously not the truth as I was an old 3 customer for years. Let's not even compare Vodafone's coverage with Telstra and Optus. I have hardly any reception when in the underground car parks and Brisbane ICB tunnel. I could not believe a very simple international MMS that can be achieved with any other major network provider canNOT be achieved with Vodafone!?!?!? When ringing Vodafone customer service hotline, the service is the worst that I have ever experienced. I had to wait for an average of 35min to 45min to get through and no one seems know what kind of MMS service they can provide. My call was hung up numerous time or being asked to call back later. My call was transferred between different departments and all they can tell me was that I can send MMS but Vodafone cannot guarantee the person I send MMS to can receive it; and if someone is to send MMS to me, Vodafone cannot guarantee I will receive it, but the cost will be charged - what kind of answer is that!?!?!?

5587 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Vodafone can go fuck themselves. at 27 Dec 2010 11:14:36 PM
I tried to cancell my contract , I was told multiple times that I had been canceled by vodafone, but THEN I kept getting post saying it was being processed. Every time I got one of those letters I rang customer service and was lied to. I was hung up on multiple times, usually while in the middle of a sentence. I was promised half a dozen call backs and never got any. I was repeatedly told no supervisors were available to escalate my call, when I could clearly hear people giving the person I was speaking to instructions in the backgroud

AT the end i bought myself out of my mobile contract with them by sending them back a 6 month old HTC desire.

The one call I got from them was the day after I spent money to get the fuck out of my mobile contract so that I would never have to deal with the useless pricks again. The guy who rang was also the only person who seemed even remotely competent.

Vodafone can go fuck themselves.

No mobile data for 2 days error msg 'unable to connect to server', haven't been able to make outgoing calls or sms for same period error msg 'call barring activated on service/account' - checked settings on ph. definitely not by me. Thinking problem would be rectified asap I put up with until rang '1555' (can only call Voda) 5pm this arv left msg for callback still waiting 12mn. Been fighting 2+mths for call credits to be applied - everytime I ring to ? I get a new excuse or fobbed off - nobody ever records customer call notes - this dates back to deal advertised at time/promises that influenced me to change network to Voda. Also Voda USB modem has v poor reception in my Nth Sydney unit - rarely able to video stream even 240p. When I called customer care was told that as long as reception has 1 bar this is acceptable to voda + speed issues due to using internet at peak times. Thanks voda I'll try + avoid watching any videos during your 7am-10pm peak times. 2 bills auto paid to date 1 over, 1 under - can't trust. Live in hope of improvements - only 21 months to go.

5482 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 10:23:34 PM
This was the worst experience I've ever had.

I decided I wanted a new Iphone 4.
So I go to a store in elsternwick because I wanted to make sure that the plan I signed up for would include the bonus data as advertised. After I saw the representative use the website to place an internet order, I realise going to the store was a giant waste of time and I should have done it at home. I notice the guy enter my details twice, apparently a double deal they had going. I questioned him asking "I think doing that will order me 2 phones, I only want one", He assured me only one was getting ordered. I left the store, completely in doubt. So I call the Online Orders line, and after a 40 minute hold, get through. I ask to confirm that my order was for only 1 phone. Of course, it was for 2, and I had to go through the process of explaining to the online rep that it was the store rep's fault for stuffing it up.

The store rep told me it would take a maximum of 2 weeks for me to receive my iphone, 2 months later, I receive a card in the mail telling me it is ready to be picked up at Melbourne Airport. One lengthy roadtrip later, I am holding my Iphone.

When I turn it one, the Sim isn't recognized. So I attempt to call Customer service on my then current optus prepaid. 70 minutes later, I run out of credit and the call drops.

At this point I'd like to mention that ever customer service call followed the SAME LARA prompts/answers. What would you like to do? "Activate my SIM". Please provide your mobile number? "I don't have a mobile number because you haven't given me one". I'm sorry, please repeat that.
In the end, I just yelled CONNECT ME THROUGH TO AN OPERATOR until it eventually did.
And then the Operator would ask what my mobile number is, and all I could answer was "I don't know because you haven't given me one yet". Always greeted with stunned silence.

The next day, I go to a Vodafone store centre telling them of my problem. They let me use their phone to call customer service. After talking to lara, I finally get through to rep, only to have the call drop after I answered their initial "what is your name" question.

So I call back, after another 50 minutes on hold, the same thing happens.
I ask the store rep what is going on, He shrugs and says "They are having trouble with the phone lines, I should just try again later"

Optimistic, I go home, to look up the next nearest store to me. I make my way there and ask to use their phone to sort out this mess. Another 2 tries later, a total of 60 minutes on hold, and 2 dropped calls as soon as I was connected to a representative. Again, I ask the store assistants what is going wrong and they quite rudely tell me to go home and try it later.

The next day, I decided to buy more credit for my prepaid phone, hoping they had sorted their phone issues out. After half an hour on hold, and then being dropped as soon as I got through. I gave up for the rest of the day.

The next day (friday), I went to my parent's house (as they have a phone line - I didn't), and at 0930, nice and early, I call up tech support. This time (after 20 minutes on hold of course), I don't get dropped. And tell the representative what is happening. After a lengthy explanation that they haven't given me a mobile number yet and I need my SIM activated (which at this point I find out, isn't usually needed), I am told it will be operational in 20 minutes.

At 3pm, I call back, same deal, it will be ready in an hour.
At 4pm, I call back, again, it will be ready in half an hour (Support closed at 5pm).
At 4:30pm, I call back, and am on hold until 4:59, At which point, I am answered, and then hung up on due to closing time.

That monday, I go back to a store, and tell em my problem, and that they should ring up as a staff member to sort this problem out. (I was assuming they had some sort of priority line to skip the customer service queue - this is untrue). Eventually, I am told that my Credit check failed and that I would not be able to get an Iphone.

You mean this Iphone right here? - as I showed him what I was holding.
A mate of mine applied for the same plan + iphone, and was rejected on credit check (for some bizarre reason, his credit was fine).

So now I'm confused as to why I have been rejected, and yet still sent this iphone. I'm just about fed up and ready to leave (can you blame me?) - resolving to keep the iphone, unlock it, and go with a better telco, when the store rep rings up again, and this time tells me...

That my driver's licence number was input wrong.
He inputs it, and in 5 minutes, I'm connected.

It only took 2 months overdue, and a week of hassling to get my new iphone working and operational.
But now I get to experience the constant call dropouts, Data interruptions, crappy reception and horrible customer service Vodafone has to offer!

When my contract is up, NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. NEVER AGAIN.
27 Dec 2010 10:32:06 PM: WOW!..thats just unbelievable
28 Dec 2010 12:00:15 AM: I really should have pushed for atleast 3 months free service or something, I think I was just ruined to resignation in the end :(

I signed up for a 3 service business contract. 2 of the supplied phones are useless, but local agent will not work with me as it is a business contract but the our 'business sales' rep will not answer sms's, emails or phone calls. Once you are signed up, they are no longer interested in you.
We regularly have clients saying they can't contact us. I have stood beside one of our other phones, dialed the number and been told the number is unavailable. Its no wonder our clients connot contact us. It's not we who are not available, merely Vodaphone's system not forwarding the call. We sometimes get a 'missed call' notification, but the phone never rang (it wasn't on silent either).

I managed to get out of my new contract with this crap company, as when I attempted to port in, and was told 'within 3 hours', and my number was still with my previous provider 4 days later, I think I embarrassed them into agreeing to acceptthe Iphone back via return post(at their cost, and I think I was extremely lucky to get out of it. In the sense that Vodafone suck, and I'm lucky not to be with them. Equal fail for not even being able to connect within a decent timeframe, and for poor customer service by continually lying about what they have committed to when they fail to meet those commitments.

I was talking to a vodafone, no, 3! staff member earlier for approximately 1 hour (including half hour on hold) trying to sort a few things out on my bill.

I applied for a $39 month to month broadband plan, it was a special offer emailed to me, they put me on and billed me $49 a month.

Also I did not receive my dongle until the 13th of December and was charged from the 30th of November!
The staff member had to put me on hold while he went to ask what a dongle was?

I phoned around the 12th of December to advise I had not received it and was told not to worry, I would not be charged. How was I to know it had been delivered to the Post Office when no notification was left to tell me? My contract stated that it would be delivered to my door and I would have to show I.D and sign.

The staff member could not explain to me what my volume limit was. It says I have passed this everytime I connect. He then put me through to a closed department.

I did not ask for my mobile to be put on the same bill. It has never been direct debited before as the broadband is nor did I give permission.

I am not happy with the signal either, I only get poor service, one bar only.

I have also been annoyed that my prepaid mobile was cancelled without advising me first.

I will consider cancelling my phone plan when it expires in February also but lets hope conditions improve.

For some time I've experienced constant dropouts, poor coverage even in a city environment (forget breaking down on a road and needing assistance!). More recently my setting were mysteriously changed so that I get no calls (straight to voicemail), no notification or record of missed calls or voice messages left, messages received up to 24 hours after being sent... and so on. Assistance was great at one shop where he fixed the settings and checked it... guess what.. gone again then 24 hours later some messages come through. I potentially missed out on work and replying to people to buy the house I currently rent. I get charged for having voicemail and accessing it even though I can't get the calls... and now I will have bigger charge because they lost the setting on my 'best mate' rate. No wonder all my friends have left vodafone.. and I'm next!!

I was on vodafone for years, multiple dropouts. Couldn't have a phone conversation longer than a couple of minutes without it dropping out. Very embarrassing when you are applying for jobs. Msgs came through days later and calls often wouldn't even come through.
After multiple calls to ask them to fix something simple (that of course they claimed wasn't their fault) I went to 3 mobile.
3 were great, not a problem...until a couple of months ago when vodafone took over. now calls wont connect, phone lines drop out, reception goes from full to nothing without even moving spots causing the phone to drop out. full reception, open the internet and nope its gone again.
The other day my phone claimed to have full reception, yet a call didn't come through because of no reception.
I didn't move to 3 to deal with vodafone shit again.
My contract is up in 2 weeks, and if there is no improvement or explanation from vodafone by then, then Im out. I hope they finally see how bad they have got. Stop pumping your money into advertising and start looking after the customers you already have, because at this rate there wont be many of them left.

Contractual obligations not met by Vodafone themselves, poor reception in some areas where Vodafone claims good coverage after two service checks/requests - blamed my phone which should have out performed similar models at the time.

Late SMS's.

VERY DIFFICULT to stop or make changes to your contract, but it's OK for Vodafone to double-charge, make accounting and billing errors and threaten you with legal action when you protest their incompetence. Sales staff are lying assholes, they promise you various things/services/rebates but they do not materialise after a contract has begun.

Very expensive calls for the quality of service you get.

Had the same rubbish in the UK and in Holland too, never again. Vodafone is yet another (globally) shit company to deal with.

been fighting with vodafone over same issue since august with useless handset - usual range problems (dropping out, loss of reception in my local supermarket), continued loss of important contacts (i work with vulnerable clients) refusal to replace handset, many trips to the store, a total of FOURTEEN hours on hold over 5 calls to customer "care" (haha) - including one FOUR HOUR wait on 23/12 which was not answered in the end. i was blatently lied to - promised resolution and a new handset in october. despite the dreadful, non-existent service, i continue to be billed, with promises of "refund" later. meanwhile i have been without the technology i need for 4 months now. i want my contract cancelled and my fees refunded
27 Dec 2010 09:16:34 PM: on-hold wait times with vodafone are an absolute DISGRACE. i have sat on hold listening to john mayer and rob thomas for FIVE hours and transported around different departments in sri lanka. they should be ashamed of their customer service, just disgusting.

And now to missed calls and voicemail, sometime my phone doesn't ring, and about 30 mins later i find out i have 3-4 missed calls, one hour later i have the voicemail arrives, sorry but thats to long. Why is it when i call to complain i can't talk anyone in Australia, the people from overseas are rude, and they try to make you feel like you are lying about your problem, or they rush you, the fact you just spent 30 mins on hold, your pissed off, because the same thing keeps happening, these people in the call centres, need to learn, 1) how to speak english 2) how to be understand what we Vodafail customer are going thur 4) how to fix the problem quickly.

4953 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is OUTRAGEOUS! at 27 Dec 2010 07:45:54 PM
So happy to discover I am not alone!

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for 4 years and only in the last 7 months have calls dropped out, internet disconnected, and reception in my own house been very very poor. I am dismayed as I signed on for a new 2yr contract only this year. I also can't get reception in rural areas where my Optus and Telstra friends can. Considering I pay a premium cap I expect better. I also expect international calls to be included (when were they not?)

I tried to call and complain but "Lara" didn't understand my request (duh she's a computer with a patronising voice). I finally got through to an operator after 40mins who then transferred me to another area. 20mins later noone had answered my call! I sent an email to complain and got a reply that didn't answer my complaint. I replied to this and didn't receive a response. ARGH!

In a nutshell I'm glad people are fighting back! With the help of this site I am going to do more.
27 Dec 2010 10:29:30 PM: before june, international calls were not included in your cap plans. You can have your plan updated to the most recent one in store, so you can at least get the benefit of having more credit, unlimited txt etc. Just might not be able to use that at the moment.

4902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is internet coverage at 27 Dec 2010 07:35:33 PM
i have been a vodafone customer for near on 32 months. for my mobile and 12 months for wireless plan. The problem i have is not with my mobile coverage like many others, but with my internet coverage. after having a great run with mobile coverage i thought it would be a natural transition to get vodafone internet. (i originally wanted to use Optus only optus dont cover my area of victoria point for wireless or broadband, and i refuse to use telstra no matter how cheap or expensive they are) With my vodafone internet i was assured that my area was covered for 3G coverage and the vodafone shop i applied through said we were in the best coverage area possible (all purple colour on their graph) after only a couple of weeks i relised that there was something not right. i rung the customer care line and after many negotations over a couple of weeks. they told me that they were upgrading towers in my area for better coverage. i accepted that. but then after a couple more weeks i relised it still wasnt much better. after a few more calls over a week vodafone then accepted that there was a problem and credited me $15/week on my plan for the remainder of it (its still being credited monthly) im a pretty simple person and hate technology at the best of times. the way i tell if my vodafone coverage is quick or not is by looking at the internet icon when connected and it says 'coverage Very Poor' 100% all the time any time of the day. But when i use the same wireless connection in Capalaba (10 mins from where i live) i have the 'connection read Very Good or Excellent' 100% all the time. i can definatly tell that the connection and download speed is more than acceptable for what i do. Overall its not acceptable for a major telco though to be inconsistant for coverage like this in such close areas and considering all the telcos piggyback their coverage of each others lines when service is bad, its definatly noy acceptable. If Telstra were not so tight and made to share their lines or rent them out to other telco companies every customer would probably get better coverage and service. Between the telco companies, the big 4 banks and woolies and coles it wouldnt suprise me if all of them are owned by the 1 company.

Plenty has been said about Vodafone's appalling network. The only thing to exceed it (in a negative sense) is there telephone support. I have spent hours on the phone stating the bleedin' obvious only to be lied to, jerked around, and disconnected. They're united team when they're selling you something and are happy to facilitate, transfer you, do whatever, but if you have a problem,
"I'm sorry you've called the wrong area, you'll have to call someone else". And don't get me started on f***ing 'Lara'. I have already change companies so I'm no longer affected. My memories of God-forsaken Vodafone are so traumatic that I will never use them again, even if they fix things.

4796 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Not too bad... but! at 27 Dec 2010 07:17:05 PM
I had an I phone with Vodafone for a year in melbourne, I actually had no network issues, and the phone worked okay in Ballarat.

However, the customer service was a nightmare! I left vodafone to upgrade to the 3GS earlier this year and switched to OPTUS. I asked for a final account and waited. And waited. And got one after three months showing that vodafone owed me about $40. So I sent an e-mail to the big V that took a week to be answered, saying that the e-mail team can't do a refund! So I tried the phone team, spent a while on hold and finally got through. After a 15 minute argument I was told that it would take 6 weeks to send me a cheque for the money, no interest would be applied and if I didn't like it someone would contact me. I asked the guy to get anyone to call me back to explain the 6 week delay for a cheque, noone ever has. Small fry I know but bloody annoying!

4790 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is stuffed at 27 Dec 2010 07:15:42 PM
I purchased an LG KM900 vodafail branded phone a couple years ago on their $49 plan and in the suburb I live in, (Marrickville), I could not get any reception.

I had to ring their customer care number on my parents landline and all I was told (by their OS staff in India) was to reset the phone and voila you will now have signal.

I replied no its still the same and the indian dude tells me to make my calls from ouside the house as reception in "buildings" is not guaranteed. I said maybe you would care to come here and step outside to sort this abomination out.

In frustration I called their customer care number again the next day and got a local. I advised them of the problem and that I wished to rescind the contract due to no reception.

Surprising they were ok with this and I simply had to payout the handset if I wished to retain it but the contract was cancelled as it should be.

I then switched to 3 as a mate of mine lent me his sim card to test and reception in my area was perfect with this carrier. So far I have been with 3 but since the merger with vodafail so far reception has been fine, should it change in the future then Optus will be my next choice.

Good luck with the website and class action, its much needed.

Thanks for letting me the oppurtunities to express my frustations regarding phone standard, customer service and other services of VF. I'm on $ 79 caps for one and half years. I started with BlackBerry Bold 9500 and the phone cap was just a crap. The worst so called touch/smart phone I have ever had! After using few weeks, I could understand I'm just wasting my money. Touch screen was unsensitive, internet browsing was sooo sloooow, media player and camera photo quality were just far below the standard. I bought it from Crazy Johns. The customer service of VF couldn't help me at all. After few months, I couldn't tried to change the phone, and customer service guy replied (after more than half an hour waiting time!) me it would cost me ...$ (the total price of a new phone!) Well, after few more months sufferings, I fortunately lost my phone. Lucky, I had my mobile insurance, I got a iphone 3 with the excess fees of 225 bucks! But call dropping, networks, internet browsing didn't improve that much. So I could realize, the problems are not in phones only, but networks and customer service also. Anyway, it's quite unnecessary to pay for mobile insurance. So I had to cancel the insurance. Recently, I paid all the money including excess fees, but the system said after a week, still it owes me money! I called customer service to know what's going on, otherwise they gonna charge me extra money for late fees! Literary, after 47 minutes of waiting period, I could talk to the customer service guy for few minutes. The worst customer service I have ever had. How much time do you have guys to talk to a customer service in Australia? Simply, I can't afford that time! Call drop out, poor networks, slow browsing and few more things are part and parcel of my phone caps. I'm just waiting to finish my cap period so that I can roll over. Thanks guys for your patience to read my pains.

I use a vodafone dongle to acess the internet. They have had several 'problems' with yahoo and general connectivity, network coverage etc. When I ring them to speak to them I can either be on hold for an hour and a half or being insulted by rude, and obnoxious persons who have little graps of the English language. They have, on several occassions extended my data allowance and expiration date to apease me. This has been fine - but the problems never gert fixed! When I rang up exaberated they refused to authroise a refund as I had already been using their service!
The staff have blatantly lied to me on the phone by saying that they do not give data allowances or any kind of recompense - then when I demand to speak to a supervisor they offer data allowance to try to make me happy!
half the time i question whether i even get through the right people!
I am fed up and would be quite happy if they never existed. They are really uselss, overpriced and offer little or no customer satisfaction.

4719 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:00:55 PM
Well, I started the contract with Vodafone when I was still living in Sydney, in January of 2009. I had heard from a family member that the (at that time) new Blackberry Storm phone was the best of the best, so I decided to look into getting one. I went to an outlet at the Bankstown Centro shopping facility, and I got one of the Storm phones, and at the same time opened an account with Vodafone. At the time of my receiving the phone, I asked the individual who was working at the outlet if I would be able to receive signals in all States and Territories of Australia, and he said yes. I asked him if he was positive, and he replied with another enthusiastic "Yes". So, I got the phone, and went on my way. I experienced my first dropped call later that afternoon. One of the main reasons for changing mobile services in the first place was because of dropped calls and low signal reception in various places immediately outside of the Sydney area, from the previous mobile service provider.

I had had the phone for less than one month when I had my first serious problem with it. Because it was under a 30-day replacement warranty, I took it to the outlet where I got it, told the people there that the phone wasn't working, and they told me that they didn't have any more of the particular model in the store at that time. I wasn't in a position to do anything more about it at that time, because I was getting ready to go overseas that next day. I left for my overseas destination the next day, and returned about 30 days later. I immediately returned to the outlet where I had gotten the phone, and was told that they had more of that particular model in the store then, but that the 30-day replacement warranty had expired. So, I asked them what my options were. They said that I could give them the phone, and they would send it out to their repair facility. I did this, and about two weeks later they contacted me and said that the phone was ready to be picked up. I immediately went to the outlet, and they told me that the unit had been replaced with a new one. I had high hopes. Well, this second phone almost immediately dropped calls and had very poor signal reception in numerous parts of the Sydney area, as well as other places in Australia where I took it. Also, it was about three months until this second phone developed a problem that rendered it unusable. I took it to the outlet, where it was the same as before: they said leave it here, we'll send it out, and you should have it back in about two weeks. Well, about three weeks later, I got a phone call from the outlet telling me that the phone was back. Again, I immediately went to the outlet to get the phone. I picked it up, and hadn't even gotten out of the shopping center when the phone dropped its first call. I turned around and walked back to the shop, told them about the problem, and they asked me if the battery was fully charged. I told them it was. They told me that because of the large amount of metal within the shopping center, that the signal strength was usually not very good there, and to take the phone outside the mall and try it again. I did, and the signal strength was better outside the mall. Well, shortly after all this, I moved to Tasmania. I came to Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, and as soon as I arrived in Devonport I tried to use the phone, and I discovered almost no signal strength. I drove around Devonport trying to find a location where I had a better signal, but could find none. I then drove to Burnie, again with no better signal strength. I now refer back to the first part of this writing, where I had been told by the people who initially sold me this phone that it would work equally well in ANY State or Territory of Australia. Needless to say, it hardly worked at all in Tasmania. The only exception to this is that it appeared to work OK in Launceston, which is one of the larger towns in Tasmania.

I took the phone to China, Malaysia, and New Zealand with me on business trips, and it did operate satisfactorily in all three of these countries, as long as I was in large cities in those countries. It appeared that in rural areas, there was almost no signal strength, and this appeared to be the case in all three of the countries mentioned above.

The last thing I have to comment on is that every time I have tried to make a credit card payment on the phone account, the credit card is not accepted by the Vodafone credit card payment system.

I am absolutely NOT happy at all with either the service, the equipment, or the customer service from Vodafone. All in all, a very large disappointment.

It is beyond a joke for the last few weeks Ive been with them all i have had is problem after problem i could not access my email for over a week because of their crappy internet connection at the moment i am still using their shop spare dongle, i get reception every now and then, after two & half hours of trying to get it to reinstall and work to no avail, i give up. we need to stick it up vodafone as this is not acceptable in this day and age.we all have a right to access the net at any time day or night without coverage restrictions.

Mobile broadband never works! I know we are not supposed to talk or mention Vodafone staff but let's hope when all these lies are exposed eventually, a full list of all the senior management team (from CFO down to say business development managers and sales managers) is to go public to ensure these liars never to be employed again in the telecommunication industry!

Like most horror stories here, they lied repeatedly to old customers and lured unsuspecting new customers in; so, this vicious cycle of customers churning keep them in business. The latest honey pot is the Infinite plan where there will be more unsuspecting new customers being lured in to replace all the old disgruntled customers who are leaving!

Where do i begin??
Last year trying to suspend my fiance's contract for him whilst he was overseas with the Navy - before he left they told me i could do it provided i had his pin etc. When i called the day after he left, they said only he could do it. Yeh - in the middle of the indian ocean how's he supposed to ring!?
Then he did it himself. Only to find a month later a bill for some $600 for international calls after his mate borrowed his phone (they do that), which would have been fine IF vodafone had actually suspended the contract so no calls could be made.
I rejoined them again last year - stupid me - simply because my partner at the time was also with vodafone.

Left to go travelling overseas a month ago. I had called customer service over a period of several weeks, almost never getting through, and when i did, the call connection would inevitably fail EVERY time. Eventually, the day before i left, my mum managed to get through on my behalf. I asked them how to unlock my phone because their internet unlock thing wasnt working - hadnt been for some weeks. And they told me all i had to do was plug it in to iTunes and it would be fine. (iPhone 3). I asked what i would do if it didnt work coz i was leaving late that night and they said it would be fine - it would work. Tried it. It didnt work. Called back and they were closed. So about a week later after having no phone to use overseas coz mine was locked, i went into a london vodafone store to ask if they could help. They put me on the phone to vodafone AU and fortunately i had my first helpful service rep that day. He found there was a problem with my phone imei number or something and was having tech support get onto it... though he said that might be up to 10 days. In the meantime, i was supposed to be supplying a phone number to a future workplace in the US regarding an internship - desperately hoping they wouldnt withdraw the offer because i wasnt able to give them a number to call me on. By this time i'd spent, i'd approximate, 15-20 hours in the past month trying to contact vodafone in one way or another. During this time trying to unlock my phone, i was also trying to have the contract put on suspension whilst overseas - god only knows if they've actually done that.

The fact that I couldnt reach vodafone for customer service - even for the simplest of things - and then finally reaching them after weeks of trying, for them to give me a dud solution prior to the holiday of a lifetime, it completely ruined the fisrt few weeks fo my trip overseas (and the lead up) because all i did was worry. Fortunately, i unlocked my phone 2 days ago. Wishing i never had to deal with them again but unfortunately when i get back i will still have another year left of my contract.

I have been a Vodafone customer for over 10yrs and have never experienced such apauling service like this from them.

After finally getting through to someone in the network technician area, the standard trouble shooting they always do for initial network issues was presented to me (things I have already done a few times myself a few times with no success).

Like:
for iphone4 - turn wifi off (as it supposedly interferes with settings on the phone with the network... what a joke if their networkrk is that sensitive with a product and features they strongly promot for sale.
- So into settings, general and select reset and pick network to reset the network. If this doesn't work then try resetting to factory settings (which they assure won't delete any data on your phone).
- The 1st level tech also suggested I contact Apple to see if their booster cover is still available FREE if not try and get it as it's suppose to boost network signal... if this is well known, why doesn't it get supplied with the product in the first place, especially if it is a known issue with the product? Couldn't answer that one.
- if none of that works then call them back and they will escalate the logged issue to the next level of tech support... great... another 2-3 hr call wait before talking to someone.

The other phone having exactly the same problem but is a Nokia... do the following:
- take battery out, whipe the sim contacts with a soft cloth and put back together
- set the nokia network settings to manual mode and manually select vodafone au

No call me lame or a bit slow, but if two different phones are having the exact same network issues no matter where they are used (eg, home network area, city metro areas etc), wouldn't you think that it is automatically something more than just a basic handset or sim issue? I mean I am no telco teckie but I have some common sense and the above just seems a waste of time to me, and a way to fob the consumer off again without any real satisfaction of restored service or compensation for the lack of!

Needless to say none of this worked for me.... Who'd have thought!
29 Dec 2010 12:04:20 PM: Ok. You are lame and a bit slo.

When I signed my contract with Vodafone I explained to the Sales Assistant that I worked within the Emergency Services sector and I needed to have optimal reception EVERYWHERE. I made myself quite clear that the style of phone was not my concern but excellent reception was imperative. The Sales Assistant sold me a contracted phone with the reassurance that they have never had a problem with reception with that particular phone.
Well to my suprise she lied in a big way. I lived in the centre of town and was unable to get reception, when I was at home the only place I was able to have reception was by walking out to my letter box to make phone calls and send messages.
I rung Vodafone a few weeks later and informed them of the conversation I had had with the sales assistant, I stressed the importance of reception to the Vodafone rep. The only conclusion I achieved from the phone call was that I could pay my contract out or continue my contract.
I had no option but to pay my contract out as I HAD to have reception at all times and in all locations. This little exercise cost me a ridiculous amount of money and time and was a huge inconvenience.
I will never buy Vodafone again.

So first of all, vodafone started charging me up to 600 dollars a month for my phone usage. The reason was cause i was receiving random sms messages which I never signed up for but that cost me 50 dollars an sms. It was sms's with random world facts. I was never told, even when asked that this was the reason my phone bill was so high until i asked around and figured out what it was supposed to be.

So i go in to vodafone, change the play to the 99 dollar unlimited plan and get an i phone.

When I signed up i was told to keep making payments into the same bpay account, i did.

Later I am told I have not paid my phone bill. After about a week of fucking around I finally get through to the customer service line, and eventually they give me the money i paid in credit on my current account.

This month, I get another bill;. No credit has been applied, nothing. Not only that. I am told my phone will be cut off in a few days if i don't pay right away.

Only problem is, I have a sms, an automated phonecall and an email ALL stating different amounts I owe (Anywhere between 110 and 400) I call for days, am on the line for over an hour sometimes and get no help. Can't even talk to anyone.

Then when i try and use the automated service to find out how much my bill is and what my b pay details are i am told my account details are unable to be found at this time, sorry for the inconvenience.

Next day my phone gets cut off.

I go into vodafone to sort it out. I am told that no vodafone representative at a vodafone shop is allowed to handle billing issues and all I can do is pay the full amount and maybe sometime this week my phone will come back on (Maybe) I paid the bill on friday.

This is after the vodafone representative checked on his computer and indeed confirmed i had 300 dollars of credit. Credit which was given to me by vodafone over a month ago and is registered in their computers yet they still want me to p[ay the same amount because their computers cant sort my shit out.

On top of that, there is the constant bad internet connection, bad service, late messages, missed phonically that don't come through till after its too late.

my email is mlahooti@gmail.com

I am a film maker also. I will gladly help sue vodafone.

I am 8 1/2 months into a 24months contact with vodafone to a iPhone.
I love my phone and as I am on one of the most expensive plans to buy it out would cost me a small fortune I am sure...
My reception drops out all the time and it isnt always when i am in unusally places.(e.g when i went for a weekend away in windsor i had to reception the whole time.... which is some what understandable.)
But when i am simply lying on my bed or have my phone at my desk, places where i can get 100% coverage on the "good days".
at first i was exteremly unhappy with the iPhone thinking it was something to do with the smart phone with limited coverage...

I have 2 phones on a contract with vodafone and whilst i have been happy with them in the past the last few months we have had nothing but problems! We pay nearlly $160 a month and the service is non existant! I have made numerous phone calls to vodafone who have continually told me they dont know what the issue is and made us do numerous things to our phones as they keep saying its a problem with the phone. I was first told vodafone would compensate there customers and when i pressed this issue i was told i could be given a $10 compensation. I have since been given a 50% reduction on one bill however clearly they are well aware of these issues so i am now going to get out of my contracts as they have lied repeatedly and this shows how they operate. I was abused by a staff member at the capalaba store with him repeatedly saying they weren't aware of the issue and he even suggested we had just bought a dodgy phone by buying an iphone! I have sent an email to vodafone which is supposed to be responded to in 5 days - it has been over 2 weeks still no response, i had a vodafone worker advise me he was going to sort it out and call me back that was 2 weeks ago and still no call. I feel everyones pain and have repeatedly asked the question why should we have to pay the bill for a service they can't provide!

I have been with Vodafone for some 14 years, and stupidly signed up again (renewed contract) around September 2010 this year. As part of the contact I received a new 3GS I phone 3. Since this time I have experience untold service problems, with poor to no service, no internet access and failed message services, all within the Sydney metropolitan area and my home address. I am an emergency resource worker who requires reliable phone service. I attended and made numerous complaints to the Vodafone Liverpool Westfield store, where they sent me to Apple on four occasions replacing a brand new I phone three times, and yet still I have poor to no service coverage. The issues are not with the phone but Vodafone network services. The personnel in the Vodafone store advise me each time that they are experience network problems, but this clearly breaches the contract by not supplying a reliable mobile service. This problem has been ongoing for four months, and it is my opinion that Vodafone have breach the contract.

Vodafone's mobile broadband coverage in Hamilton, and Lake Macquarie, specifically Belmont North, is hopeless. It is slower than dial-up. Loading a YouTube video is a fruitless activity, and I have drop-outs regularly, when load is applied by others trying to get online.
Also, I have a Vodafone mobile phone which continually drops cals after a few minutes, necessitating me to re-call - earning Vodafone another flagfall. Bastards. I must admit that when I go to my sisters' homes in Medowie, I get no service at all!

Got sold a phone on a 2 year contract with vodafone. I argued with the guy in the store saying Ive always had bad coverage with vodafone but he insisted things had improved so I signed up. I live ten minutes from the city of adelaide in Henley Beach and calls drop out in my home. I travel also with work and the so called 3G coverage gives me many drop outs also. Absolute crap, and the sales people should be sued for lying.

i just signed up on a 24 month plan which came with a free nokia n97 mini. i was supposed to recieve a 50% discount for the first 12 months of my $29 a month plan. my first bill is over 41 dollars. when i rang it said there was a 41 minute wait to speak to someone. i waited patiently but at 29 minutes, the line went dead!!! i rang the next day, andf discovered the discount had not been applied and that they were going to transfer me to the " discount activation centre". guess what? that dept wasnt open!! eventually i spoke to someone else, and they have said my discount will apply from the timew i rang upo instead of the time the plan started. also, using the internet on my phone is CRAP!! whats the point of having sat nav on your phone when the service is TOO SLOW to make it work!!! it takes up to 54 minutes for one page of facebook to load...VODAFGONE YOU ARE RIPPING ME OFF

4063 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is the worst at 27 Dec 2010 05:18:49 PM
I thought Optus was terrible in Darwin. I had no reception in my house in the northern suburbs. I contacted the TIO and Optus released me from my contract finally because I did not have adequate reception. So I went back to what I thought was trusty Vodafone. Apart from being lied to on contract sign up (which I found out later) the reception and data speed was OK. But it has progressively declined to the point where like all of you I am paying for a service I do not get. I have had a few heated conversations with vodafone over a number of issues but nothing is to be resolved. I was in Adelaide CBD 2 weeks ago and there was no service at all! This is when i first found out the extent of the problem as it was all over the newspaper. I will be moving to Telstra despite paying a premium to ensure I have a service. It seems like in telecommunications, you really do pay for what you get now. How sad the ACCC and TIO and others have let things get to this stage.

The first hour is spent listening to a recording telling me a "Customer Service Rep" will be with me shortly then they have problems with the English language. I can't stay connected long enough to recharge on the website so I've got to do it on the phone. An email about the lack of service was replied by telling me it was just my imagination - problem solved. Can I sue them for breach of contract?

I have asked vodafone to fix my iphone so I can send emails from my work email. its now been 3 months!! And now they have stopped replying to my emails. I have had to change my web service to g-mail so I can send emails from i-phone. They say it is due to spam but that's not my problem so why don't they just fix it.

My wife and i had 3 mobile phones with 3. Since they merged with vodafone we experienced coverage problems. We had reduced coverage for about 6 months. The previous 7 years to this happening we always had 5 bars of reception. We suddenly lost all reception completely for about 4 days on all 3 of our mobiles. We were 9 months into a 2 year contract with 3/vodafone. many phone calls later and they were still blaming the handsets and not the network. We even got three new sim cards which did nothing to fix the issue. Finally i had enough and 1 more phone call explaining i had three mobiles im front of me with new sim cards they finally excepted that it was the network and not my handsets. I got all 3 contracts terminated with no exit fee. All i had to do was return the handsets in an envelope they supplied me. Does not make up for 6 months of bad coverage but at least i do not have to deal with them anymore. I have since moved to telstra. FULL RECEPTION!!! Keep arguing with vodafone and you can get your contract cancelled with no cancellation fee!

Bought a Dell inspiron package with Vodafone 2years ago which included the notebook & wireless Internet, that became a total waste of money after the inspiron's motherboard failed after 9 months of use previous to the hardrive failing within 3 months. I tried returning the product from the place of purchase with a response that it was Dell's problem, so I rang Dell who responed by saying the product was out of warranty. I asked about our consumer rights in QLD with a stern reply that this doesn't apply to Dell. Went back to the Vodafone store of purchase with a response from staff 'if you ring customer service & ask for loyalties they might help you if your lucky!' I tried ring the C/service but there was no loyalties option. I give up! so I'm still paying for this contact which I don't have the facilities to use which were supplied by Vodafone, Thanks VODAFAIL

3758 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Massive Fail! at 27 Dec 2010 04:37:40 PM
My wife and I only recently finished our 24 month contract with Vodafone which was the WORST experience we have had with ANY carrier ever! The problems started when we decided to get Vodafone Mobile Broadband, I use the term Broadband loosely! Sitting at home in Suburbia (14ks out of CBD) for the first Month of our contract we could NOT even get the thing to connect to the network? 20+ Calls of frustration insued, Vodafone REFUSED to cancel our contract even though we were not getting ANY service that is meant to be supplied in our agreement that we both signed! It went around in circles, the customer centre could not authorise anything to be done, so they put us through to the head office and they refused to do anything either! Over and over again we got the same answers, 'we are looking into it it appears to be a problem in your area' 'we are sorry but it is Telstra slowing things down' bla bla, how can it take a month to fix a service issue for an area?

When it DID finally work it would cuttout, dropout and speeds were pathetic! I used to take my laptop into work and from the middle of the CBD in Melbourne I could not get it to connect to the internet half of the time then when it did it would dropout or slow down! When I complained to Vodafone about this they said it must be my laptop.... ? ? ? How the hell can it be my laptop the software was installed off their disk? Or I was told that I must be too far away from a tower, I was in the middle of Collins St! Pass the buck back to the consumer?

Abosulte worst waste of space I have ever seen in a carrier we will NOT be making that mistake ever again and have warned family and friends away from them too!

I use my mobile for work, and I have continuously experienced significant delays in receiving voicemails. There was a period of about six days where none were delivered. This was very embarrassing (and unprofessional) on my part to return calls so late. I live in the st kilda area and in the evenings (particularly) the network coverage is non existent. The next morning I get bombarded with texts and voicemails that I didn't receive the night before. My friends and family think I am rude for not replying!

3699 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VERY! at 27 Dec 2010 04:31:47 PM
Over Vodafone full stop! I call up to complain about the service and was on hold for over 33mins to be told 'there were no problems reported' - Yes there is, so she transfers me to the team that looks after the technical side.. on hold for another 10 mins so I hang up.. I emailed Vodafone directly to lodge a complaint, I recieved a reply stating there were routine upgrades but not a major problem and changed the status of my complain to 'solved' - I replied stating it was not solved and I requested a consultant to call me as I cant be sitting on hold for another 30 mins + I recieved a further reply stating that If I wanted to have it resolved I have to call my self. I find this disgusting that a telco would do this. I have constant drop outs, msg fails and no service on my ph. I want to change to Optus now!!

Not impressed what so ever!!

Still got 12 months to run - suffering constant drop outs, long delays in receiving texts, appalling coverage in too many places. I had CAREFULLY checked with Vodafone re coverage as had them before 10 years ago- they lied! Coverage had only MARGINALLY improved in 10 years, shocking. Getting text and emails on PC so much quicker than on mobile, sometimes arrive on mobile HOURS after received on PC! Vodafone, spend the money to fulfil your promise of network coverage and phone connections, us customers need the basics to be covered!

Well i am a customer of Voda threw mobile and internet, I have made several complaints about my internet service to many of their customer team members and they still refuse to do anything about making myself as a customer a satisfied person, only reason i am still with them is cause i am on a contract and i deff will not continue with this company after my contract has ceased.
When i 1st applied for the internet i asked the customer service member what the reception would be like in the area which i live and she replied me excellent and u will be very satisfied, little did i know that was a very un true answer and i have had nothn but poor 2 very poor service since being on the vodaphone contract..Great site 2 complain cause there is no real point in callin them cause not only dont they listen but they dont do anything to make the customer happy and want to stay with them, but quite often i have had the vodaphone team member close the call on me...I HATE VODAPHONE and i can not wait till my contract is over...Thanx!!!

I live in South-east melbourne and i WAS with Vodaphone. I always had bad reception, I had to go outside to use my phone, and then it barely worked. In the end i was being abused by family and friends because they could never contact me due to the crap reception i recieved from Vodaphone.

In the end i dumped Vodaphone as they offered no resolution, and kept saying it was my phone (which they supplied) and not the reception.

I am now a very happy customer of Optus and have no problem at all with reception.

I'm trapped into relying on Vodafone through their subsidiary Crazy Johns. Totally unreliable both for coverage (I live in Northcote in Melbourne) and for service and care. All I have EVER had are empty apologies. On one phone call I was on hold for over 5 minutes while the employee read through my endless stream of issues with coverage and bad service. DONT use Vodafone or any company that shares their network.

3353 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Internet at 27 Dec 2010 04:01:52 PM
I was tricked into a contract for vodaphone internet. They had a deal going on at the time (pay for 6? GB get 2GB free) I thought it was too good to be true. I specifically asked the store person to inquire about reception for my area (even though I am in a urban area). I was told I am in a "full coverage zone" and yet, my coverage bars have never exceeded the 2 out of 5. NO WAY WOULD I HAVE SIGNED UP IF I KNEW THIS WAS TRUE. I want to get out of the contract but I cant. I was lied to. This is not fair.

I have many complaints as a 1/2 year contract holder to share with you all today, how lovely this company really is.

I am 20 Male from Country W.A I was signed into a Contract with Vodafone without them checking I had a job in the first place (I don't work and my parents have to pay my Bill) so they gave me a contract I myself had no income to pay but that was fine. This was my first problem, I was pretty much TALKED INTO a contract when I went into buy a PREPAID Handset and the sales person from ARMADALE W.A talked me into it so I went with it not knowing how I was going to pay for it, they apparently ran a Credit Check and some how I was earning money when I never had a job for the past 4 years? I still have a another 11 sad months ahead on my $114.00 contract.

The next problem I had was constant Service Drop outs some times days without reception, I would ring up and get Notes applied to my account and sometimes was offered a credit for not being able to use my Unlimited Cap Plan of $114.00 a month I can't even pay yet they gave me the contract LOL?

The next problem I then had was, more constant network interference slow data speeds on GSM and on 3G. Recently I had 3x Days in December without network coverage here, I rung customer support and sat on the phone for 3 hours at the Minimum trying to get through to these people to complain and get a credit applied to my account for the inconsistence (What happens if my car broke down or I was bitten by a snake working on the farm) I had no phone to use and no service which is a service I pay for each month. The next thing I was told that a $50.00 credit would be applie to my January 6th 2011 Bill and even recieved a Text Message from 1555 Saying it was applied (THIS IS YET TO HAPPEN) I then waited a day and still no phone service and I got a call from a foreign lady I spoke with yesterday saying due to my 3x days network outage my bill of $117.19 would be wavered and paid this month due 6th January 2011. I still owe this money and no credits have been applied to my account. They pretty much lied to me in person and yet I still have poor service. I feel so low in the dumps with this service I sat here and cried last week and asked how much it was to cancel the contract I couldn't even afford to pay in the first place it was like $1,000+ to cancel it as I have 11 months left finishing on the 11th November 2011 which is painful for someone who has no job or full time work.

I also have another problem with Vodafone AU the list goes on, this time something that says "!@#$ Off" in my opinion... They Vodafone AU shut down my nearest Vodafone Retail Store which was in Armadale where I got my Plan Contract from, they just shut the doors so now instead of driving 230 Kilometers to go to a Store I now need to drive 265 to the nearest in Cannington Carousel shopping centre, to me this says "WE DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS" And it was the nearest store for all COUNTRY W.A Citizens to visit!

Another problem is, Vodafone recently joined partners with 3 Hutchinson Australia!? VODAFONE NEVER SENT OUT INFORMATION, OR ADVISED CONTRACT PERSON/S ME AND 4 OF MY FRIENDS of the joining partnership this was done behind customers backs and not mentioned until it was DONE!

My LAST Painful complaint is my Christmas Present for 2010. My mobile phone broke a week ago and my parents got me a Nokia C3 Graphite Handset ADVERTISED TO HAVE WORKING WI-FI Connection, after exchanging the handset 3x times before Xmas Eve I could NOT get a working handset and had to travel 100 Kilometers each day for 3x days to keep returning the handset! THE HANDSET IS FAULTY Nokia know about the WI-FI Problem and Nokia have released a 7.20 Firmware Update whilst Vodafone have only released up to 4.65 Firmware for the HANDSET Which means THE WIFI STILL DOES NOT WORK But Vodafone are selling these handsets at $99.00 with WIFI! I tried 3x handsets and after trying 3 and travelling 300+ Kilometers a 54 Kilometer trip each way I was offered NO REFUND By Woolworth but to have the handset sent away!

GOOGLE SEARCH Nokia C3 WiFi problems, THE HANDSETS ARE BEING SOLD FAULTY AND VODAFONE OFFER NO CURRENT 7.20 FIRMWARE UPDATE TO FIX THE PROBLEM! 100% FALSE ADVERTISING AND SCAM I AM SICK OF THIS SHIT AND SERIOUSLY THINK THERE MUST BE A WAY TO GET OUT OF CONTRACT WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE CRAP! I feel suicidal, I can't even pay for the contract but was given one at the drop of a hat without even checking I had full time work to start with!

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SPECIALLY WITH THE SELLING OF FAULTY HANDSETS ADVERTISED TO HAVE WIFI CONNECTIVTY BUT NO SOFTWARE RELEASED TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS ON A LOCKED AND VODAFONE BRANDED HANDSET!

FURIOUS AND HAD ENOUGH SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND FAST!

3249 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Overbilling at 27 Dec 2010 03:46:06 PM
I have been overbilled by vodaphone, to the tune of $1253, charges applied over and above the agreed cap which I signed up to. I can't afford legal advice so I am paying it off at an agreed amount each fortnight. This is an example of how companies like this take advantage of those at the lower end of the market

3171 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is I have felt suicidal with my experiences with Vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 03:36:42 PM
I have many complaints as a 1/2 year contract holder to share with you all today, how lovely this company really is. Thought I was making the right move from Telstra (I have notes on my phone account of many complaints about network out ages happening all to often please help me and speak out)

27 Dec 2010 03:49:43 PM: Why did you enter in to a contract? YOU knew you couldn't afford it. I bought Pre-Paid mobile PRECISELY because I knew I couldn't afford a plan. I have complained about Vodaphone for it's services but they are not financial nannies!
29 Dec 2010 04:39:07 PM: first of all, you sound like a bloody idiot, secondly..in regards to the firmware you can download this directly from the nokia website..it is not vodafone that creates or provides the firmware,,also.why the hell did you sign a contract if you aint got no money...get a freakin job...and stop whinging..it is your fault for going into a contract that you cant afford..how is that remotely vodafones fault?!!!! the way i see it, ur just trying to create drama so you can get out of the contract for free..
30 Dec 2010 03:42:12 PM: Nokia OVI Suite says there is a 7.20 Firmware update you loser, and guess what it's up to providers to release the 7.20 Firmware based on the carrier and its Splash Screens and own Firmware/Bloatware they add into the handsets. Vodafone have released 3x Firmware updates up until 4.65 but no 7.20 which fixes the problem yet. You are obviously a TROLL and a Noob. There is no work out here in the country and LEARN: HOWTO - Use Nokia Ovi Store and how the updates actually work. You can't update a VODAFONE BRANDED Phone to generic Nokia C3 Firmware even if it's UNLOCKED because it has a ROM ID that is Vodafones that can not be updated until Vodafone release the software as a carrier for the handset you fucking noob.

Wake Up, Ok thanks X

13th november called customer care regarding my newly issued iPhone 4, after speaking with three members of customer care and the loyalty team i finally got put through to Shrapna who was argumentative for most of the 50 minute phone call.
she refused the fact that it was a new phone and stated that i would have to bare the cost of any repairs for a 7 day old phone.
i would appreciate a call regarding a solution to this matter.

3138 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor indeed at 27 Dec 2010 03:32:13 PM
I just went into a store to pick up a final bill after having my contract cancelled. When I asked the girl at the counter how they were handling all the scrutiny, she nervously answered "I don't really know of anything going on. All I know is that our CEO posted an apology for some intermittent service delays last week. I haven't had one customer come in with issues".

What a load of bollocks.

So I rang their sales phone number later today, just for fun. Guess what? One ring and I was through! And it was an Aussie on the end of the phone! I asked him to check my 3G coverage to which he replied "hold on, let me zoom in on your exact house and check......looks like youve got perfect coverage on our two 3G networks". CRAP CRAP CRAP
To his credit, when pushed, he did suggest testing my coverage with a $2 red sim.

My concern is that unwise customers will fall for this crap and sign up. Please help ACCC. What are you doing? These guys are out and out lying.

2972 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Would not work in the area at 27 Dec 2010 03:08:15 PM
I purchased a Nokia N series off vodafone in early 2009, whilst living at Londonderry. Before purchasing the phone they absolutely assured and promised me that it work at Somerton where I was moving to some months later.

Sadly to say, got to Somerton, no vodafone reception anywhere, when I rang them, they promised to disconnect the contract free of charge, but ho hum, they changed their mind, stating that it worked in the area I was living when purchased. They lied, cheated, and were absolutely plain rude to me, and I had to go the expense of getting another phone which worked. Needless to say, this put me under pressure, and the Vodafone went to collections as I refused to pay it. I now have to pay the b***** $1,400.00 at a $50.00 payment per fortnight out of my disability pension.

I pleaded, grovelled, explained my hubby passed away, I had to move, rental, pension, impossible to run two mobile phones. They simply did NOT care, so I am now stuck with paying these crooked idiots out the $1,500.0

Kind regards Ann Bonser

2961 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Long Term at 27 Dec 2010 03:05:25 PM
I had a friend who in the late 1990's travelled up and down the Queensland coast and relied on his Vodaphone service to conduct business (just calls no data). He was constantly plagued with call drop outs, missed calls, messages never received or arriving days later and after many complaints and wasted time talking to customer service he finally gave up with them when the contract ended. Sound familiar ?

2947 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HORRIBLE! at 27 Dec 2010 03:03:27 PM
I joined with Vodafone on the 11/11/10. That was the first day i had it, and the first day i had to complain. 5 hours i spent on hold that day to get my phone service hooked up (Vodafone transferring me around in cirles, from one operater to another sales operater, to complaints handeling process, i told the girl on the other line i would like to lodge a complaint, she replied "Would you like me to find out how to do that?"). After 3 days of trying myself since Vodafone did not know why i wasn't getting any signal, my phone finally worked and i got network service. It cost me $83 to call Vodafone to get my phone service hooked up, having to wait 5 hours, buying a new sim, the new sim failing, altogether this particular incident has probably cost me $150. Not to mention my bill this month which i cannot access because no matter how many times i try to register for online services to view my bill i cannot!!! And, yet again, shock horror, cannot get through to customer care. My bill this month will be small though, not being able to make outgoing phone calls, every time i try it beeps and then does not call at all, my phone drops out if a message comes through while i am in a call, it drops out if another call comes through while i am in a call, and it just plain drops out for no reason at all, is a pretty good money saver. Vodafone is by far the worst choice that i have made in a VERY long time and i want out some compensation for the 2 months (so far) of trouble it has bought me.
I have had to go out and buy a pre-paid phone (another $149 to add to the cost already spent on my bad choice of phone provider, Vodafone) to support my business when this service doesn't provide.... well anything!
Now, i will wait the estimated 10 days it will take them to reply to yet another complaint (because of the 'holidays') and hope that they come to some sort of resolution to make up the absolutely appauling service!!!!

2922 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is vodafone fails in every way at 27 Dec 2010 02:57:07 PM
I signed up on a 2 year plan not quite 1 year ago, believing what was said about their coverage, they lied. We drove from Bathurst to Singleton from 5klms out of Bathurst until approx 5 mins from Singleton there were no signal except of very small pockets, and these were emergency calls only. Also the phone I received on the plan was obsolete so I couldn't get any accessories compatible with or to connect to my PC. They said I couldn't get out of the plan and there was nothing they could do about the phone, they had no control over that. I very rarely use the Vodafone phone and have gone with Telstra prepaid where I get good call amounts and data useage and coverage.

2917 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic!!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:55:43 PM
I have been on vodafone contract for clost to 8 Years. Every 2 years for some reason i give them another chance and resign. my last signing was the last straw, I WILL NOT be returning once my contract is up. i have made years of constant ongoing complaints over the usual call drop outs, slow data transfer and poor reception. i have had little in the way of help from vodafone other than the usual hours of waiting on hold. The last straw was my last re-sign up, i w3as contacted by Vodafone Loyalty Team, they offered me a free phone, any one i chose if i re-signed. i told them i wanted an Iphone4, they said i could get one but they would nt be released until november-december. so i took the sony X10i, 3 yes 3 days later vodafone released the Iphone4! Firstly i have poot up with years of poor service and now i have been blatently LIED to!! Very Dissapointed!!!!!

2745 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Kept sending me someone elses account at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:42 PM
I had rung previously to inform vodafone that I am getting bills for the wrong person. I have given over all details and also raised concerns that my bill is going elsewhere as it is more often than not, not sent to my hotmail account. The unhelpful Egyptian said that there was no need to fear, all my billing information was not being sent elsewhere. She also said that she would contact XXX XXXXX and apologise for his personal information being sent to me.

Well months have passed, I actually called XXX XXXXX myself because I tire of getting his bill monthly. He said he had never been contacted by Vodafone and had no idea his bill was being sent to me. He then called and apparently had it all sorted out. Well it seems that that is not the case.

I tried email and it took a month to get an automated response to Why is there an unusual or unexpected charge on my current bill?
I replied asking why they were sending my non-relevant auto resposes to which I got:

2672 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is basketcase at 27 Dec 2010 01:57:10 PM
Both prepaid phone [nearly 10yrs] and broadband [1 year]- actual coverage doesn't meet advertised coverage, always poor connection if any at all on both with frequent drop outs, customer service near impossible to contact; when I do after always 30mins wait, record 1h 24mins,Too many times I have been fobbed off and lied to, made promises that are not kept, escalated level Support has not rang back at all yet alone within 48h or 72h promised, Have over 1000 txt in credit but cannot send text at all with error message when a/c balance low [Problem 4 mths],missed calls not registering, incoming calls not ringing, get to listen to other peoples calls when It rings me for no reason.Frequently bb speed less than 10kbs if at all, software malfunctions and crashes, as does the modem, and both frequently have to be deleted and reinstalled. A/c notifications by SMS ceased arriving, and V says I cancelled them[ more Bull]
By all reports from IT people I have spoken to, the Vodabone-of-contention is massively overcrowded, and continues to take on more and more customers without buying more airwave space.
over and over operators reply to these problems with 'that must be inconvenient' and I have tried to explain to them that having to put up with what is proven to be bare-faced lies is not inconvenient, its dishonest, rude, insulting and abusive.

Has anyone noticed that the big doozy fibs occur always after your pleasant and genuinely trying operator consults with a supervisor? If the supervisor requires their staff to lie, are not their lies corporately generated?
Might that not alone indicate that Vodafraud is not a fit and proper organisation to hold a frequency band license for telecoms in this country, It should be cancelled and the bandwidth given over to an organisation that manages its service provision, customer support, even its marketing, with a level of integrity that matches its Spin.
I invite the responsible Minister Sen Conroy and his Dept. to stop sitting on their hands, and subject this Telcon to a blowtorch.

To all those people worried that you're locked into a contract, look again at your contract. Vodafone have broken the contract themselves by not supplying the service agreed to in the contract. You should join the class action or go to the TIO, citing breach of contract by Vodafone.
