26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

A TIP FOR LONG SUFFERING PEOPLE USING LARA 1555
READY TO SAVE YOURSELF BETWEEN 30-60 MINUTES.
OK.
HOW TO JUMP THE CUE.

1When you call 1555 the robot "LARA" will answer with prompts.
2.Ignore her and say 'CUSTOMER SERVICE'
she will say 'I didnt quite get that we will try again.'
Ignore her.
3.Say 'CUSTOMER SERVICE' she will say the same thing again or simular
4.After her stupid prompting again say 'CUSTOMER SERVICE'
5.She will try you out again, just say 'CUSTOMER SERVICE'
6.After about 6-8 of 'CUSTOMER SERVICE'from you she will give in.
7.YAY!!! she will say 'I will transfer you to a customer service right away.'
BINGO!!! That's at least 30minutes saved without the torture and pain.

After that you get an Indian Vodafone Rep from MUMBAI.
MAY GOD HELP YOUR SOUL!!!!!
2 Feb 2012 12:16:12 PM: They are just doing their Job. If Vodafone Australia does get it right you won't need to talk to the Indian Guy..

20632 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is VodaData Fail!!!!! at 17 Jan 2012 05:21:40 PM
This mobile broadband theirs (either 3G or new HiSpeed?) just keeps petering out. There are definitely peak traffic issues that the Vodapeople have failed to address with their new network "upgrades" that happened "before" Christmas. I have CONSTANT DNS Lookup failures, server time-outs, browser time-outs and so on. The LATENCY in Voda mobile broadband around 5:00pm onwards is downright ridiculous. The people in their Aussie Voda-shops don't know, their Indian Voda-helpdesks are out of touch and there is no-one in the whole of Vodafone Australia who seems to be approachable on these issues. Telstra's expensive mobile BB offering is still too rich for me so I continue and suffer at the hands of the Vodafolk...... GRRrrr!!!

I am not in a mess anymore.

Last night I left a message on the Vodafone Community site.

SUBJECT : HOW I SOLVED VODAFONE FAILURES
My answer:I GOT A HAMMER AND SMASHED THE VODAFONE SIM CARD AND GOT ANOTHER TELCO'S SIM CARD.
Also I placed another message:

I have only been on this website a short time and Vodafone customers have left by the bucketfull,What do you think ALLAN?(vodafone moderator)

Well of course, you will see there's only about 3-4 people that have lasted more than three minutes with ALLAN (vodafone moderator).

He has Oblitered and Deleted the whole of the Vodafone Community except for Vodafone reps and himself.

Vodafone Moderators' position and roles are:
[TO DELETE EVERY COMPLAINT AND GENIUNE LAST DITCH ATTEMPT BY VODAFONE CUSTOMERS TO RESOLVE THE LENGTHY LONG FRUSTRATING UNETHICAL BEHAVIOUR THAT EMITS FROM VODAFONE INDIA.]

Hutchison Vodafone Australia will never get!!!
I have no doubt that they will lose their Licence to operate in Australia.

20567 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 10 Jan 2012 01:25:51 PM
I had a phone with Vodafone which I got on contract over a year ago. The number was changed and with this the connection came up with an x = no signal. In the same house I previously had signal but it was low and would keep dropping out.
I called to complain and have this looked into.
I was told the issue would be resolved and my phone would work, I went through troubleshooting but was still unable to use the phone. I also had another phone with them which worked but still had the drop outs as it still does today. We agreed to send back the phone and have it cancelled and closed as I couldn't use it at all. It took almost a year for them to send me out a bag to send it back to them. I kept calling them every few weeks/ month to find out where the bag was. I eventually got it 11 months or so after we first agreed to have it.
During this time they continued to charge me for the second phone that I couldn't use.
I would have to ring regularly to find out what was the deal with my bill and phone, each time I would get different answers. I continued paying for the phone I was using and refused to pay for the one I couldn't use. They barred my phone (the one I could use) on numerous times despite being told it wouldn't happen and every time I called them to get it back on they would tell me I had to pay for the other phone I couldn't even use. Eventually after hours of arguing with them they would put it back on and place a small credit to get it by.. They would reassure me it wouldn't happen again and to only keep paying for the phone I could use. Despite doing what they asked it would happen over and over.

After I received the bag finally in August 2011 I sent the phone back immediately. I had to call them to make sure they received it. They had. But it didn't end.
I continued to get charged for the phone that I couldnt use and they had back.
My phone has been cut off 2ce now since october. The efforts to have that account closed and the fees dropped have been exhausting. I called the last time just the other day (1st week in jan 2012) after they barred my phone. I was told I had to pay the bill, there was a small amount credited on the account but not the total amount, I knew I shouldn't have anything owing because I had kept paying for the phone I use.
Eventually after an hour and a half of arguing with a 'team leader' he appologized after actually going back over the last year of notes. He had told me he had applied for a full amount of credits and had made a note summarizing the last years notes.

The only reason I am still with Vodafone is worry of losing my number which I have had for a really long time and because I still have just under a year contract left with them...
My phone I am still using still has drop outs and cuts off when I'm talking to people, or on the net. But I don't bother calling on that one because this has been a horrible experience already and I'm just waiting till September 2012 to finish this contract and leave!

I had been on prepaid with Vodafone for about 8 years, the moment I went on plan I feel like they have screwed me over....

Vodafone signal and service is discusting.
10 Jan 2012 04:45:06 PM: Why have you tolerated this state of affairs for so long?

You must have remarkable patience!

Agree it is hard to lose a number that is 8 + years old but there is no need to lose that number if you port it (move it) to another provider.

Advise you go to the TIO with your complaint, the likely end result is termination of contract, once that happens you can move your number to a provider that can provide a usable service.

TIO on line form takes less than 10 minutes to complete, contact details at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

20560 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unequalled at 10 Jan 2012 06:12:05 AM
23/12/2011 - I recharge my prepaid mobile online using a credit card - $35 all time - and it said the transaction was successful but I did not recieve credit. Money was taken from my account and was a pending authorisation. I phoned the call centre and their response was I was not telling the truth.I called my bank to stop the payment but they told me they could not do that and Vodfail had to either not claim the payment or send it back to my bank.
I called back the following day as I still did not have credit, was told again that I did not recharge online using a credit card so I recharged again using my credit card over the phone with the call centre. This time the transaction was successful. I asked the call centre rep if I was still going to get double credit and her response was "Why would we do that when you did not recharge online? That offer is only for recharging using a credit card online." Are they serious?????

Now my credit card has been debited twice for $35 and the call centre still says the have no record of two transactions.

This is what appears on my bank statement:

25/12/2011 - VISA PURCHASE VODAFONE NORTH SYDNEY 23/12 AU AUD $35.00

29/12/2011 - VISA PURCHASE VODAFONE NORTH SYDNEY 24/12 AU AUD $35.00

Vodafail says I need to prove it to them by faxing or emailing my credit card statement to them. What is wrong with their accounts department if they can receive payments and not know about it or not know who the money belongs to???

I am very annoyed about this and only recharged online using a credit card because of the offer to double flexible credit if I used this method. I won't do this again and just go back to buying recharge vouchers. I am also not impressed having been told by the call centre that I was not telling the truth.

And I am totally fed up with having to deal with their foreign call centre.

10 Jan 2012 04:48:43 PM: Why do you remain with VF?

There are several other providers that would offer a comparable service and cost for you, you may need to think seriously about a new provider!

20540 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic. Staff Perceptions of plans differ at the same store! at 6 Jan 2012 04:11:43 PM
Went to switch from 3 to Vodafone so as to stop data roaming fees when using the Internet. Was told yesterday that it would be free to move over and that, as an 'incentive' I would get the same package I have on 3 but $10 cheaper. I was very impressed. Went back to the same store today and was served by a different staff member and was told that it would cost money to move and that the amount I payed would be the same until another staff member said that it doesn't cost anything to move but I would have to pay the same amount. Your staff suck Vodafone!

20518 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is cant give them my money at 4 Jan 2012 08:08:18 AM
Just left Voda after 8 years, can't even top up my account via their internet site reliably and no longer at all on the phone, internet delivery on the phone has become unrelaible the past 6 months, and now their "my vodafone" site comes up with transaction error and has taken numorous goes just to top up in the past 6 months also. Have gone to another provider yesterday, very easy to transfer over and keep number. Not to mention call congestion, drop outs, and the long mailbox message service announcment that cant be skipped and costs you call time just to hear it (it used to be very short), voda has very little to offer these days except expensive sms, call rates, flagfalls etc.

Purchased new phone and internet on contract with vodafail. was with 3. They claimed i had coverage. for the first month i did have reasonable reception for internet, around 160 - 240 kps. slow yes but considering that no other company could offer coverage i was willing to accept that. 3 weeks later averaging 5kps. contacted them, suposed tower upgrade was responsible. waited 3 more weeks. contacted again. tech will look into it. finaly 2 weeks later they called me to say problem was fixed. speed averaged 30 - 60 kps. told me it will improve when new tower is fully operational. this week 2 weeks after that call. averaging 5kps again. investigated on the internet. as best i could with the speed. ongoing problem always supposedly upgrades, always no improvement, always more complaints. the only logical conclusion i can see from this is that when you first join they may put you on priority for towers, then about a month later take you off. because every similar incident i read about had the same time frames. This is of course only guesswork based on available information. but it fits with the continuing problems.

3 months without 3G mobile broadband connection due to tower upgrade.
TIO involved.
Payment compromise reached.
Still billed as before.
Vodafone have deactivated customer service email address.
Had to reregister on new site.
No one answers emails.
NOC won't phone to discuss completion date.
And so back to TIO.
Here we go again!
2 Jan 2012 07:21:33 PM: Did you use your original TIO reference number?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
13 Jan 2012 06:41:07 AM: No! VF resolution team have complaint as resolved as I was offered a discounted rate for 3 months. Did not happen and billing department even have amount showing as being paid from my cancelled credit card. I placed a condition of acceptance on the resolution i.e.; if billing for next period didn't reflect resolution then I would not pay any accounts future accounts issued but would still be using the limited VF service as my mobile is my only means of communication.
My emails to the resolution team are unanswered and I keep on receiving bills.
So; have lodged new complaint with the TIO as I have no intention of paying any accounts issued by VF.
14 Jan 2012 01:12:27 PM: For future reference if you use the same TIO incident number VF get 'fined' more heavily by the TIO as the issue has not been resolved despite VF claiming it has been resolved.

You sure are going through the VF grinder with this one!

Persevere, you will be successful!

I was with 3 mobile for 6 years and had no problem ... In October I ordered 2 iPhones and was asked to transfer to Vodafone ... received the phones on the 2nd December (and they delivered one wrong phone) took two more weeks to get the correct phone delivered ... Mogration took another 4 calls and 2 weeks for one phone and the other is still not done after 5 calls for migration ... every time they took the exact details and said 4 working days ... its now 30 days since getting the phone and 75 days since ordering the phones ...
Lousy company ... lousy staff ... I am not racists but Vodafone is making me one ...

20475 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very poor reception at 28 Dec 2011 12:45:59 PM
With connections almost non-existant or constantly dropping out and worse since the apparent upgrade recently completed It is very difficult to obtain work as I work for an agency as a sub contractor on a casual basis. This means I have a regular mobile phone bill coming in but cant keep up the payments dueto lack of decent phone reception, due to not getting enough work becauseI cant be contacted.
28 Dec 2011 01:04:48 PM: Have you contacted VF about the apparent lack of reception?

If not then you need to contact them, let VF investigate and produce a solution, if they cannot they may release you from your contract but more likely offer some compo, for instance reduced fees for a 3 month billing period. If VF do produce a result - great! But you need a phone system that works and is reliable.

In event of network failure the next step would to report the issue to the TIO should VF not release you from your contract.

We have 2 phones on our account with VF and have had enough of all the miscommunication, lack of service and all around screw-ups from this poor excuse for a telco.

So that I can make a real comparison with other companies before switching I have been trying to access my account online for the lat 6 days. Previous to this whenever I wanted to check a bill or see how much usage was left on the account I could easily access the info and it was one of the few features of dealing with these a-holes that actually worked --- not any longer, for the last 6 days I get this message after being asked repeatedly for my pin ---

"Sorry for the inconvenience
- There has been a communication problem and your request has not been processed. Please try again later."

6 days in a row is already "later" how much later does it have to be, next year maybe?

Just one more lesson in frustration dealing with Voda FAIL!

After 4 years of wonderful service and nothing but the best to say about Vodofone I have now become very angry and dissapointed. The customer service leave a lot to be desired and I am seriously considering using a different Company. The last 2 months I have had nothing but problems with my connections with breaking up, fading out and getting disconnected. The time and money I have wasted trying to get a decent connection has been unbelievable. Then to top it off I spent nearly one hour trying to get some sense out of the call centre (another complete waste of time). I strongly object to all the questions I had to answer supposedly to identify me!!!!! There are some areas I wish to keep private as it is my business. I have been in touch with the Privacy Council and have been advised that certain questions are not entirley neccessary and identity can be proved by several means. This identity thing has gone way too far and need sorting out. My other gripe is the lack of proper English speaking Customer Service representatives at the other end of the phone. Please, please, please why can I not speeak to a real person to begin with and one that can speak English. OVER IT!!!!

20315 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 3rd rate telco at 14 Dec 2011 02:45:10 PM
sitting at home would like to complain about my reception but my service goes from 3g to Edge to carrier name but no bars ( I love this one it is Vodafone giving you the digital finger) then searching... for 20 minutes then SOS calls only and then back again. I would call on another phone but I don't speak Hindi and the cost for the hour or more on the landline just makes the whole think even more infuriating

20309 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is High rate of fail at 13 Dec 2011 02:27:30 PM
Just got migrated from 3 to vodafone, the girl said that the good news is that there is no longer roaming charges but the bad news is that in some far off places such as far off whoop whoop that I may lack reception. Well I am sorry but I don't class my home (inner city Brisbane) or my work (30 mins from Brisbane city) as whoop whoop and I have zero reception in both. One day and already the prognosis = fail.

20308 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ultra Fail at 13 Dec 2011 12:57:04 PM
Vodafone's process for migrating customers from 3 is absolutely ATROCIOUS! They are one company now but shunt us from pillar to post. Can't get anything right. They should have invited every 3 customer to go to their nearest store where someone would transfer them seamlessly within 30 minutes, give them preferential treatment with handset upgrades etc. But no, this customer base they have taken over is treated so badly. Data plan suddenly removed from 3 service while migration taking place (now into its 4th week!)and being charged excess data cos there is no data allowance at all! But I'm still paying for the plan that previously had 1GB of data! Phone them, wait for ages, they tell you its a known fault (well, then FIX IT!)Tell you the bill will be correct when you get it but then it isn't. Just terrible.

20296 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is is in denial and so are it's employees at 11 Dec 2011 05:01:25 PM
I was helped by the advice on this site to get out of a contract with VF for supply of wireless internet, which did not work from day one. They conned me away from 3 with the promise of more data & faster speeds & it simply was total BS, it took 6 weeks to get a cancellation and refund after contacting TIO.

My dilemma now is that my better 1/2 & I have a very old deal with VF going back 15 years for mobile phones & we get loads of free stuff on a small monthly outlay but as it is an old plan it does not include all the modern stuff for smartphones. Our outgoing calls are rarely more than our included allowance & we have no problems communicating via sms for which we have a huge allowance. As well as that we have very reasonable international roaming with the deal as well as quite cheap international calls & free calls to any landline after 7pm, 6 days a week & all day Sunday. This has suited us well but now want to upgrade as the missus wants to keep in touch with family instantly via mms, email & Facebook etc.

We have decided to get into the real world & upgrade to some new whiz bang smart phones as well as a better deal for our current wireless supplier (Three 3), which will become VF again soon.

We are happy to go with any provider for 2 modern phones with full net access & all the bells & whistles as well as a deal for about 10GB of wireless internet access at a good enough connection to use skype.

VF has an adverising campaign here on the Gold Coast claiming all their problems are fixed & are offering attractive deals including keeping our existing account & adding an 'Internet Mobile Pack' at an attractive rate.

Problem is that I totally do not believe they can deliver what they claim & I don't want to go through the hoops with LARA & Mumbai ever again.

What I would like to ask you good people on here is: Has anybody switched from VF to another supplier for phone & mobile internet connections on the Gold Coast & been entirely happy with the service & if so could you tell me what company so I can make the switch?

Thanks in advance.

12 Dec 2011 04:49:37 PM: I think you have answered your own question.........with:

Problem is that I totally do not believe they can deliver what they claim & I don't want to go through the hoops with LARA & Mumbai ever again.

One bitten, twice shy?

I may be wrong but I live on the GC and I would never touch VF again, regardless of their claims.

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

14 Dec 2011 09:15:18 AM: Thanks for your input. It is just so very hard to believe that as of last week when I went into my local VF retail shop they are signing up people to new accounts on the shop floor & carrying on business with cheery staff extolling the virtues of their system & claiming it all works as advertised. Nearly fooled me again they were so sincere. How is this allowed to happen? Don't we have any laws against corporate fraud?

Very wise old saying - 'Once bitten twice shy'. Went to a social gathering last night & questioned anybody with a smartphone as to who they were with & did they have problems. Best positive reply came from a couple of grey nomads who have been all over the country & said that Telstra was the most expensive but as long as you were within 50km of any village in Australia that had at least one pub you could count on getting your calls, sms & email. Seems like a no brainer, especially as I can't even access my VF account online for the last 4 days because of technical difficulties!

This site is great.

Was put a plan in November, 2010 only to have the phone they gave me start playing up. I took it into the store and the unhelpful staff member told me it was their service that was also playing a major role in the failure. After I told them I need to have service due to several immediate issues, so she gave me a temporary phone which is still no use due to the fact Vodafone cannot supply a service!

20283 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is fail 850 mhz network at 9 Dec 2011 08:41:21 PM
Tried and tested Vodacrap 850 mhz network on the Gold Coast. New mobile spends so much time switching between 2100 mhz and 850 mhz network, battery drain massive. More dropouts and erratic reception, even no in building reception while been within 200 meters from a 850 mhz tower. Back to locking my brand new mobile to the very old 2G network, so much about Vodalies stronger 850 mhz network its a JOKE

20207 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is New contract resulted in disconnection of number at 5 Dec 2011 10:44:41 AM
I switched from Vodaphone prepaid to Vodaphone post paid last week and picked up a new iPhone. The new phone could make outgoing calls but anyone calling in was told the number was disconnected! It was finally resolved after a number of lengthy calls to Vodaphone in India, however two days ago the phone number stopped working again and I can neither send or receive any calls. Once again my number is coming up as disconnected. This is a work phone and I'm losing customers because they can't contact me. Vodaphone support can't resolve the problem and keep saying to give them more time. I've only been with them a week and the phone's only worked for probably 3 days out of that week. I'm taking it back and going elsewhere!

20179 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculous! at 3 Dec 2011 09:26:53 PM
Vodafone upgraded my partner's phone to an iPhone 4 midway through the contract due to endless reception complaints to which Vodafone concluded was due to 'new upgrades being incompatible with iPhone 3.' Since then, the problem has become worse. We are 10 minutes outside of Brisbane CBD and calls drop out, text messages don't send/receive, internet doesnt load and the list goes on. Vodafone's excuse is always 'we're currently doing upgrades.'

More recently, Vodafone took an extra payment off my credit card when I paid the bill last week. Dispite the fact that we have bank records and their receipts, they are denying they received two payments and are refusing to credit my account. I have been waiting for 6 days for someone to call me after 'investigating' the issue and even though I call regularly to chase it up, all I ever receive is a promise for someone to call me back.
3 Dec 2011 10:40:40 PM: Oh dear, not good by any stretch of the imagination and sadly we have read the same or similar stories concerning Vodafail.

Obviously you have tried to resolve the position with VF without success, the next step is to take the matter to the TIO.

The TIO on line form takes less than 10 minutes to complete but VF have 10 working days to contact you to resolve the matter to a mutually agreed and satisfactory conclusion.

The TIO contact details may be found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

Suggest you take 10 minutes or less out of your day to initiate some action.

Good luck!

After lengthy debate I was not to be charged for fail of service for 6 months. After that time I could leave before contract expiry of April 2012. 6 months up at end of Sept 2011 so left and now they charging me for breach of contract. Huge Netrwork outage in Queensland at present. No service from when I first checked this morning, no messages from Vodafone, nothing on any website or blog, nothing to let anyone know when they might get service again. My livelihood and income for my family depends on my phone. I stand to potentially lose $500 to $1000 per day and the Indian call centre offers me a discount off my bill of $5.

I recently purchased an android handset but in order to use android market I need to sign into a google account first. Every single attempt fails and it tells me my "sim is not provisioned for data services", Vodafail says it has nothing to do with them or their service and I need to contact the manufacturer. I've paid alot of money for an android handset that only makes/recieves calls/txt/pxt and nothing else.
They don't care at all and their "technical" advice is patronising. "Have you tried a soft reset?"

Contacted vodafone regarding the issue and they constantly claim it is other carriers at fault run numerous tests then put me hold. Then suddenly service drops out and I have to start all over again.

Speaking of service dropping out, that is also another major gripe in the CBD!

I tried to recharge my prepaid mobile on the Vodafone website but it was down so I tried to recharge on my phone by using my credit card. The recording told me that they could not confirm that the payment had been processed and to check again later.
I checked my phone the next day, no recharge. But I checked my credit card account and $29 had been taken. I rang Vodafone to see what my options were. They said that yes the payment had been taken and yes the recharge had not gone onto my phone.
They said if I wanted to get a refund, I would need to fax them a bank statement showing that $29 had been deducted from my acct and they would put a refund back into that acct.
I did this and got a phone call saying that my statement did not show $29 was paid to Vodafone. I told the man that this was what my bank gave me, I was told I could not submit an internet copy which shows that info. He said he would need to verify with my bank. This was done, he said the refund would be in my acct in 24hrs.
I checked my acct, no refund. I called Vodafone back and they told me that the request sent to their finance section did not say a supervisor's name and date of incident. They said this would now be fixed and the refund would be in my acct in 24hrs.
I checked my acct again, still no refund. I tried to call Vodafone back but the phone line was playing up. I then decided to send an email to Vodafone through their website.
I received a response saying that according to their records, the refund should have been in my acct. I checked my acct, nothing, so I replied that it was not. The reply I got was that the finance dept would look into this.
Last night I received a phone call from Vodafone saying I would need to submit a bank statement. I said no I will not as I have already provided this information. I was told again and again that I would need to submit this. I kept saying no I refuse to do this because I had already submitted this information.
The lady said she would get back to me when she could look at her options. I got another phone call from her and she said "seeing as you won't submit a bank statement, all I can do is put an extra $29 recharge on your prepaid acct". I said no (and I admit I did swear because I was extremely angry with the way I was treated) and hung up. I then proceeded to send another email (once I had calmed down) to Vodafone saying I will NOT be submitting anymore information, I have already done this and that I would NOT be going through their company again and I would tell my family & friends not to use them either. I have not had any response so far.
I am extremely unhappy with their service, with the way I have been treated. I am sick of the lack of communication (between themselves) and I am going to keep onto them until something is done!

My mum was previously with 3 and went to allphones to renew her contract before it expired, and they convinced her to go with vodafone without checking area coverage. She got home to discover she had NO phone reception at home, and rang Vodafone this morning to cancel. After screwing around with settings for 10 minutes, waiting on hold for 5 more minutes, being hung up on and then them calling back at the same time I tried calling them again, I finally got put on to the same person I talked to previously and she put me on hold again and then put me through to the cancellation department. Cancelling the contract took about 10 minutes, then he said it would be easy to get the number on another carrier just go to a store and sign up. We mentioned we wanted to go back to 3 (otherwise known as a reverse migration) and he said just go to the store. I mentioned this at least three times and always got the same response. When I finally got to a 3/vodafone store they checked the call notes and apparently it was noted that they had offered to do a reverse migration and I had DECLINED, which was a lie. The reverse migration is now going to take 48 hours to complete, not including the three hours in total I wasted this morning driving to various places and talking on the phone and being kept on hold.

Third cancelation says something about a problem "faild payment on my bonus bank redemption", thing is I had enough bonus Bank Bank dollars to purchase the unit outright, so there should have been no failure. I have order statments to back this up. Is there really going to be any of value redemption on this promotion or has it been a complete failur from the start as they continued to prompte the "Loyalty Programme"?

I originally signed what the sales clerk told me was a six month mobile internet contract with vodafone (let it be a lesson, read ur contracts.. .. all of it!)It turned out of course to be a 12 month. Due to no, or very little reception and complaints to Vodafone and the ombudsman re both reception and billing, the service was cancelled, except that vodafone still felt that they could bill me for a service i am not under contract for, don't use, and has been officially cancelled. So i went to my local vodafone outlet( i prefer them to wait on hold rather than using my own credtit) where the kind sales staff showed me on their system that my contract was cancelled and that i was no longer a customer. They did some messing around before ensuring me that the bills would stop. Since then i have recieved 2 Bills from vodafone for a service that does not work, is out of contract, has been cancelled 3 times, is recorded on vodafone's own system as "Account terminated" and has an ombudsman report filed against it.

When I changed from 3 to Vodafone I change my plan as from 45AUD cap+International call to 20AUD sim card only+International call. When I received my first bill I was so surprised that they haven't put the International call pack into my account so I have to pay full amount for my international calls. Since I've done the contract on telephone, I just rang the customer line and they told me they could only refund 25% of the international call part. Unless I can find a hard copy of my contract, I won't be able to get a full amount refund. So I went to Vodafone store and requested for a hardcopy. But there is nothing about International call pack mentioned on it.
Then I asked if I could request for the audio record of my contract. They simply refused it. Luckily one Vodafone staff helped me to call the service line. At first they said only 30% of my international call fee can be cancelled. I refused it directly. After a few seconds they asked if I accept 50% refund. Then I was totally upset and insisted to get a full amount refund. After 10 more minutes the staff lady told me that "they" agreed to refund me in full price but I have to wait untill next month when the new bill comes.

So I have a Nokia N97 which has a problem with the lens cover in that if it gets any kind of dust or small particles in it it actually scratches the glass over the lens itself. Also after almost 2 years with the phone, the screen is a bit scratched.

I did include insurance with my phone plan when I got it, which is supposed to cover accidental damage (it was explained to me that it would cover even dropping it in water). Apparently, there's a $170 something MINIMUM excess to pay for an insurance claim. I'm currently broke, having lost my job, and paying my bill is hard enough. To find out now that despite the fact I've paid more than that in just the regular $9.99 a month extra on my bill I still would have to pay an excess is a kick in the teeth. What a waste of money.

The excess WASN'T mentioned to me when I got the phone.

20037 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ending a contract nightmare! at 18 Nov 2011 01:54:50 PM
Recently left Vodafone due to terrible coverage and then was charged a early termination fee after being told earlier in the year (via email) that I could terminate my contract at any time with no penalty.

I called to discuss this with Vodafone only to be given the run around and told that I would need to pay - After being placed on hold 100 times and my continuing to object to paying the fee when I had emails saying otherwise, I was transfered to a supervisor who told me that he would personally call me back in 3 days - Highly excessive time if you ask me!! Espcially when I receive a TXT saying "proceedings will commence if you dont pay your outstanding account".

I then call to lodge a complaint and to my surprise end up in the same call centre where I expressed my concerns to the lady about the consultant potentially being her supervisor or sitting next to her or being her best friend only to be transferred to her supervisor to make the complaint and guess who answers...one of the people I was wanting to make a complaint about!!!

Pathetic! In one hand happy to no longer be a cutstomer of theirs but in the other just want this overdue account cleared!
18 Nov 2011 04:26:21 PM: Really!, i was rescinded from my contract a few months ago. i communicated with them via email rather then phone also. You get nowhere with them on the phone. I am now worried that ill get a silly email demanding payments. But if you both reach a written understanding, doesnt that become a law abiding document? Pressing send on the email is the same as signing a piece of paper as thats their response. Dont pay a cent if you ask me!
18 Nov 2011 04:31:10 PM: Go direct to the TIO with this one, don't hang about. You have tried hard to resolve the issue and clearly have had no success.

TIO contact details at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab, takes less than 10 minutes to complete their on line form.

Good luck!

23 Nov 2011 01:19:03 PM: Contacted the TIO and guess what! Vodafone finally responded and cleared all termination fees! Funny how they wouldn't budge until the TIO were notified! Terrible company if you ask me! How hard is it to provide a telephone service and a bit of customer service?

20036 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is unable to keep their website working at 18 Nov 2011 01:16:21 PM
I'm trying to access my account through the My Vodafone website, I am able to log in, but trying to access certain sections just leads to timeouts and error messages. A couple of examples, if I go to Bill History or My Details I get:

Sorry for the inconvenience

- There has been a communication problem and your request has not been processed. Please try again later.

If I go to Premium TXT I get:

Premium TXT
Sorry, something went wrong with your request. Please try again.

I called customer service, and they had me clear my browser cache which didn't fix it then for some reason had me visit google to see if that worked despite the fact I had already said I could log into the my vodafone site I just couldn't access any of the options.
18 Nov 2011 01:28:22 PM: I also just tried using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox to see if that would help with no change, so it's not a browser compatibility problem.
18 Nov 2011 02:16:40 PM: I was told at the end of my customer service call that it would be investigated and I would hear back in an hour. That hour is up and I still haven't heard back...
19 Nov 2011 09:59:52 AM: Still waiting??

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
21 Nov 2011 08:29:46 AM: I never heard back.
21 Nov 2011 08:33:30 AM: The site seems to be working now though.
21 Nov 2011 08:45:19 AM: Although, I just went to Plan Info, which brought up a page to click a button to see my plan info, which then loaded a page titled Error saying This answer is no longer available.
21 Nov 2011 11:19:16 AM: I am getting the same thing when I try to recharge online or check account. I have tried IE8, fire fox 5.0.1 and even opera mini on my phone. all 3 get There has been a communication problem and your request has not been processed. Please try again later.
6 Dec 2011 11:37:03 AM: Trying to enable international calling via their website, again I'm getting the communication errors while entering my account pin

20006 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Bloatware Fail at 15 Nov 2011 03:02:41 PM
I have just started using my new Galaxy S2. Vodafail please do something about the bloatware with the next update or help everyone to get rid of it. I am not impressed that the apps Vodafone, Vodafone Apps, Games, Music, News, Sport all lead to the same Vodafone Live homepage. I think most users can accept bloatware as a means of subsiding their phone but installing a bunch of "apps'' that leads nowhere is pretty stupid. Get rid of these pointless icons or make them lead somewhere that is useful to the user and the company.
My Galaxy S1 was similarly infected, but the 'apps' on that led to the Vodafone corporate website, completely pointless.

19988 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is selling dodgy Legends at 14 Nov 2011 03:06:51 PM
I purchased a HTC Legend for my wife last year thinking she would have fun with android, social media etc. Since then she has no end of strife with the phone constantly dropping out. We originally put that down to the vodafone network issues. After the phone was updated with Froyo (android) it became unusable so I asked my wife to drop it in for a repair. The store then asked her to collect the phone a week later. She rushed there thinking the phone was fixed only to be told that it had water damage and therefore any warranty was void. She advised the store asistant that it had never been in contact with water. He said it could have been caused by bathroom condensation or other moisture found in our home.
This has made me feel quite frustrated with vodafone. I have read elsewhere on vodafail that this type of water damage i.e. incurred during normal use is a scam used by vodafone to get out of dealing with faulty handsets. Has anyone else experienced this issue or got comment on vodafone using these tactics? Our next step will be to make a complaint to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman as it is just not right/fair/just that we should be left with a dud handset that hasn't been anywhere near water.
14 Nov 2011 10:28:54 PM: A store staff member does not fix your phone. They simply hand you the phone back and have to tell you the bad news. It's not the sales assistants fault that the repair centre has come back with that issue. You can get proof of water damage from the repair centre. Don't take it out on the staff member in store. It's there job to tell you what's happens, but they never diagnosed that your phone has water damage. Have a little respect. Things are frustrating but there is nothing a sales consultant can do in that situation.
15 Nov 2011 08:22:53 AM: Can you read? I was not blaming the sales assistant.
16 Nov 2011 07:19:41 PM: geeze what's with vodafone supporters on this site. Your networks sucks!!! "Selling dodgy Legends" was merely discussing his experience.... he never even complained about the sales assistants.. sounds like the response of a vodafail employee???? maybe you should get of the net and serve some customers, rather than being so defensive about someones legitimate statement

19987 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Uber at 14 Nov 2011 01:51:40 PM
Vodafail is having a Sieble system meltdown that is causing its sales and customer service staff to be unable to even look at customer records. Transactions are just freezing mid process. Vodafail rather than fixing a problem that started yesterday overnight, in their infinite wisdom have decided that the middle of the business day is the best time to fix failing systems

19969 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Handset delivery at 11 Nov 2011 04:26:51 PM
1) I ordered a new handset over the phone after the website wouldn't allow me to place the order. They then tried to deliver the phone to my office but said they couldn't deliver which I can't believe being a large office.
2) So the phone was returned to Vodafone and I've been on the phone to then every second day for the last 2 weeks to try and have it re-delivered! Today they said that it's on it's way but couldn't give me a tracking number yet? They even have the hide to say it's going to take 4-5 days for delivery. Haven't they heard of customer service and overnight delivery?? It's a joke!

went to UK used internet on mobile ran up a $500 bill in 9 days for very little use they charge $1 per kbt .Did not use the internet again but according to them i used it every day & still had a bill for $100 internet use cannot speak to anyone in OZ have to call India but cannot uderstan operator sent two emails off still waiting a reply 8 days later
11 Nov 2011 10:08:41 AM: If they don't sort it out (and it sounds like they are not) then lodge a complaint with the TIO. They will force vodafone to take the issue more seriously and resolve it as quick as possible. It might be worth calling Vodafone up again first to let them know you plan on going to the TIO as that springs them into action sometimes.

19923 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is fail at 8 Nov 2011 04:58:56 PM
Received my online bill this morning showing nil outstanding balance and current charges. Lo and behold I received an SMS at lunchtime telling me that I failed to honour my payment schedule. and that to prevent restriction to my service i was to pay immediately. 2 hours trying to get answers from that bloody call centre and their refusal to put me through to someone in Australia, it turns out that their September payments were not processed so the outstanding amount related to that invoice. Still trying to find out how the amount was not taken up in the direct debit payment in October and why the invoice issued Nov. 6 shows a 0.00 outstanding balance. I have no problem paying the bill but how dare they threaten my services for their own stuff up. How kind of them to offer me an extension on the outstanding amounts so it can be taken up in the November payment. As the invoice displays a zero outstanding balance, I wonder where I stand legally if I refuse to pay an amount I knew nothing about and can get no sensible answers about besides the standard responses that the call centres preach. Hope the TIO will be able to get the answers I want.
9 Nov 2011 05:40:00 PM: Absolutely same thing happened to me yesterday. Three hours on the phome, six different people & nothing but lies. Excuses like "your bank reversed it" - untrue. Their statement as recent as Sunday 6 nov showed nil outstandings 7 they work out Monday that they have failed to trigger the payment & then send threatening SMSs to all of my phone holders (6 on the plan). Their accounting & billing system is a shambles.

19898 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Every Day Fail at 7 Nov 2011 09:00:17 PM
Every call is dropped. EVERY ONE! When a call CAN be connected, you have to be totally still and NOT MOVE THE PHONE MROE THAN 0.5 CM! otherwise of course, dropout! Texts randomly fail. data is sometimes acceptable, others it is dead. it is totally pathetic, i have been lied to many times by customer service - the few times i have actually gotten through to complain and query if the handset itself (Galaxy s II) is faulty. Spoke to 3 different stores, all deny ANY issues EVER with VF.. BS! We are being lied to every day. I work for an outsourced provider that services a department of VF's customer service.. All I can say is they look even flimsier internally than they do to the public, reactionary corporate BS - profiteering A$$HOLES. Switching to Virgin.

I have been urgently trying to login to the site for the last 5 hours and can't due to a database
connection error. I'm upset I've just signed up from 3 for 24 months and after incorrect plans, a failed iPhone 4s preorder (it took 2 weeks to arrive, when it did it was the wrong model and resulted in being put through to retention 3 times in a week after about 20-30 calls), I'm starting to wish I'd cancelled 3 for another telco.. I was with 3 for 10 years and NEVER had any issues!

19852 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is terrible at 1 Nov 2011 04:21:41 PM
I have a question which someone with a legal background may be able to answer.

If Vodafone acknowledge your complaint and offer compensation, are they admitting liability and therefore admitting to a breach of contract.
1 Nov 2011 09:45:37 PM: You would have to contact a lawyer and it depends on what Vodafone has actually said. They are able to offer compensation to resolve an issue you are having without admitting any problems. You are able to ask them to cancel your contract without charge if you are having significant problems. Check out our 'how to complain' page for details.

19831 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Obnoxious treatment of potential customers! at 29 Oct 2011 01:30:21 PM
My 81 year old dad received an unsolicited sms message on his Telstra mobile purporting to be from "Auvodafone" - no sender's number supplied, on 27.10.11 stating $136.50 owing on account no. 635312466 has been sent to your email address - due for payment of 15 Nov".
Dad doesn't have an account with Vodafone. I emailed them just now (29.10.11,13:14)& immediately received an automatic reply email stating "due to higher than anticipated volume of email enquiries, we are currently experiencing some delays in email response" then advertising how to port to their company! At the bottom of their reply, it says "status: solved"!!
Bizarre that they can claim to have solved a query from a live human being using an automatic response! We're assuming the sms is spam. Can they somehow interfere with credit ratings if dad ignores the message? Thank you for your site - it's a great play-on-words name too!
Pam Topham
18 Nov 2011 01:53:30 PM: This sounds like a phishing scam and the source of the sms was probably not vodafone. It is possible to send text messages from some services with it being from almost any text.

19812 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Oct 2011 10:44:38 AM
Switched over from 3 after being told my Internet reception might be better. Not will be better, but could be better, otherwise it would be the same. After the switch I got absolutely no Internet reception in my house even though 3 was blazingly fast. Call reception sounded like talking through a wall most of the time as well, so I switched to Virgin.

Just received a $466 early termination bill even though I was told that I would be put on a month to month contract. The billing service personnel just kept repeating the same thing over and over until I exploded. Then he decided to try and give me another number to call which I refused. I told him that the contract I am on has to match what I was told over the phone or it is illegal, and then I went and filed a complaint at the TIO website. So shall wait and see what happens.

As a by note my wife was on the same plan with 3 and ordered her Vodafone sim card but didn't actually activate it. She still had a few months to go on a 3 24 month contract, but the Vodafone salesperson said she is now on a month to month contract. Funnily enough she hasn't had any problems with the switch over to Virgin.

No mobile internet available in Maryborough QLD until the end of November.
Only took 6 hours on phone and lots of yelling for Vodafone to tell me this.
Vodafone tech services kept telling me that was a problem with my computer.
21 Oct 2011 09:33:18 AM: well did u ask for a refund or some othre discount for no service.
6 Dec 2011 07:24:33 PM: After lodging complaint with the TIO,bombarding the vodafone site with negative comments and lodging a claim for cash compensation for the expenses I had incurred, I eventually received a call from resolutions team. I wouldn't agree to the compromise until I had received their offer in writing (email). I also cancelled my credit card from which vodafone deducted the bill payments. Glad I did; because the next bill was so totally incorrect that I would never have recouped the money from vodafone.
By the way, there will be no mobile broadband reception in Maryborough until the end of December.
