26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9632 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 31 Dec 2010 05:32:14 PM
Ive have been with vodafone since august 08 and i was told by the consultant at the airlie beach store in the Whitsundays that the day I was joining was the same day that vodafone was inprooving there network coverage, and im still waiting for that improvment! I am onto my 3rd phone as the 1st one i recieved died within 24hours of signing my contract with vodafone,Then next phone I recieved was the "new" nokia N97 which the touch pad stopped working before I even paid my first phone bill!! Now I am using a nokia X6 which has the same, if not worse network coverage as my 1st 2 phones! Just recently for some god known reason vodafone has decided to stop sending me out paper bills in the mail, which is my only meens of paying my bill in the first place! so just this afternoon i get a telemated call (which i could only answer standing on my outdoor furniture at my front door otherwise it would get disconnected) saying you have not paid your bill for Novermber or December please pay buy "This" date or your phone will be disconnected! Well after that phone call i panicked as i am a new mum and I need my phone in case of emergency, so i rang customer support and after waiting a good 35minutes I had some guy in india or wherever answer and he tells me that I would have to wait till the billing department was open at 9am Monday morning! Today is friday 31st of december so I have to wait until the 3rd of january to try and sort it out! I now have 8months left on my contract with this dispicable company and if it wasnt for that I would have changed a LOOOOONNNNGGGGGG time ago!
31 Dec 2010 06:42:03 PM: I sympathise with you. My internet connection is post paid so I can cancel as soon as I have an internet connection that works - and yes, unfortunately I'm going back to Bigpond and Telstra - they charge like a wounded bull but it beats all this frustration. I have an X6 mobile too that I'm still locked into for another 18 months - I can't use it properly as the manual is 108 pages long - lol

9623 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very at 31 Dec 2010 04:59:34 PM
I was formewr employee of vodafone who decided prepaid mobile broadband was a good option for me, convinced by vodafone emtremely competitive pricing i bought with them. As i get home im excited to browse the internet as this is new for me. As employee coverage maps were easily accessable in which my area was completly covered in the 3G network which was great as coverage is not a problem. Installation was simple and easy and start-up ha instructions provided. The problem however as cheap as vodafone was was it never worked, browsing times were etremely slow and at one point timed the download time between web pages the longest ranging 7 and half mins, other times is was so slow it often came up wit browsing errors. So i rang through to data support in which spent tree hours troble shooting everything from my computer settings, to admin rights, to sim swaps at which nothing worked. Working at vodafone i knew the problem was coverage however i was dealt as this was the most unlikely scenerio. I was later told that they would work on solving the problem and to let me know that i would recieve a call within 24 hours. No call came. So i rang again only to trouble shoot the process the exact same way the previous day. Lucly for me the manager at the store ended up writing it off, however can completly understand customer anger and dissapointment to faitfully buy a product with a large amount of promises only to find a second rate service and poor customer service. Unfortunatly people are sucked into buying the lowest price product on the market, but aske yourself is trouble od troubleshooting hours on end and returning a device worth the couple of dollars saved. I ended up buying with telstra and while customer care is only slightly better the coverage is amazing. More expesive but works and works fast.

Another issue i had was when i bought a recharge online for my prepaid account only to be billed twice. I rang up customer care to query why this had happened only to by hung up on, So i rang agin at which i was told it was a mistake and theat the money would return to my account with a week. It did surprinsly, however this is caution to check ur accounts as an employee i have witnessed many mistakes, weather dilberate on vodafone behalf or coincidental be safe and check.

Constant drop outs; no 3G; slow data speeds; total loss of reception; I have to make calls from outside at home as no reception in the house.Been with Vodafone since 1995 and have 3 plans with them. I spent 50 mins on the phone today to MUMBAI and was told for $377 I could get out of my contract! Can you believe that! They want me to pay for my loyalty whilst they FAIL to deliver the service that I pay for! I am LIVID folks. Join the class action and show these crooked B&^%$rds that we want what they promised and FAILED to deliver.

9600 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is FINE at 31 Dec 2010 03:24:28 PM
I am in no mess, I want to put out how ignorant people are, this website is a prime example.

I work for vodafone and I can tell you the reason you are experiencing problems with network in the last 6 months is because they are finally merging their coverage with Three so bear with them.

If you are naive and could give a rats, please go to telstra who charge you huge amounts for less calls.

What happened when optus and virgin merged?
THE EXTACT SAME THING.

CLUE UP AUSTRALIA

ps. I know a few of you actually have proper problems, but to the 75% that don't, pull your finger out.
31 Dec 2010 03:37:47 PM: The person that posted this is an absolute idiot. Prime example of a Vodafone sales person that continues to sign people up for service that doesn't exist. I don't know how you lay straight in bed at night. I pay $80 a month to Vodafone and NO I will not "Bear with them" (Incorrectly spelt!) Companies need to realise that if they stuff their consumers around, we won't put up with it and expect compensation, hence my support for the Class Action law suit. Screw Vodafone, no sorry excuses!
31 Dec 2010 03:42:28 PM: More like 75% have major problems the other 25% have smaller problems. The vodafone employee that posted the above is not too bright ;)
31 Dec 2010 03:43:21 PM: Yet vodafone continue to charge their customers for a service that just doesn't work :/
31 Dec 2010 04:25:26 PM: it's not my fault as a sales person, I do the checks, I tell them that the coverage is experincing problems and such and that Three and vodafone are merging, the consumer still goes ahead knowning of this issue, if they cannot get their head around a simple thing like this, please look for the nearest building, bridge, highway and either jump or walk out in traffic.

The thing regarding the telco industry is, that 98% of the salesmen have no experience with customers and believe signing them up to plans will be the last of them.

I check and tell them if the coverage will be terrible and they still go ahead.

You might as well place a blood clot next to a cheese burger, tell them you will get this from eating this, and they will still do it regardless.

Also to the first person who replied on this, have you heard of the TIO ?

if you haven't you are the "Absoulte Idiot" because you can get out of almost everything from them.
31 Dec 2010 04:40:25 PM: Mate, you are an imbecile and are the ignorant one. Firstly, why should we be inconvenienced? Secondly, as you work for Vodafail, have you the authority to represent them? If so, your response in contemptuous and disgraceful. "please go to Telstra"... you have got to be kidding you idiot. We will not pull our fingers out but you had better pull your head in as all these comments are available to media outlets.
31 Dec 2010 06:43:09 PM: Deep breath in...........calm down everyone..........ahhhhhhh...........see..........that's much better!!
31 Dec 2010 09:16:19 PM: Whoever this is..needs to look at their own system....this is acurrent merge...I have experinced problems for over 2 years....and been fighting with them for that time...I am one who is forcing them to do something...They promised the world and failed to deliver...They have proven by their own means that I was right....and everything I have said since has been right....these people have no idea how to run a Telco in Australia...they think it's the UK where they can con people....I have a suggestion...put up a booster tower and charge them to use it....
31 Dec 2010 09:24:27 PM: THis idiot needs to explain this....12 days offline during November...5 days offline during December...a charge for $114.00 for 1.5GB download on a day I wasn't even online....non existent coverage EVERY morning because vodafail crashed....every day....1 -4 hrs to get any coverage at night....daily records kept for the last 6 months.....showing gross fail of Vodafail....lets see this sales person explain $80.00 a month for this lousy service....
1 Jan 2011 07:23:38 AM: Have a look at item 5338. And you want to go into bat for Voda....?
1 Jan 2011 04:25:05 PM: "...if they cannot get their head around a simple thing like this, please look for the nearest building, bridge, highway and either jump or walk out in traffic." - Wow what a fantastic response from a member of Vodafone's staff. This is why they fail on the customer relations front because they allow people like this insipid dupe to work for them.
2 Jan 2011 02:28:42 AM: just to let ya know one of the customer service reps from the vodafone customer service centre was blaming the network issue on the fact that u guys have created a $45 unlimited cap and he is the manager of the cancellations department.he didnt even mention this merge to the 3 network. he's apparently going to give me a call back once an "investigation" has been completed so i can leave you idiots
2 Jan 2011 07:05:14 PM: When people pay for a product and that product does not work it is the responsibility of the seller, there are no justifiable excuses. Sure, merging of Three and Vodafone may cause some network problems but this is NOT the customer's problem. Asking us to "bear with them" whilst continuing to take our money is UNACCEPTABLE.
2 Jan 2011 08:27:05 PM: Dear Vodfail idiot/employee, you must be joking - surely? We would "bear" - nice spelling - with it if perhaps Vodafail were honest in their dealings and stopped trying to cover the problems up. Also, if they stopped signing up more people when their system can't even handle the current volume and spending millions on sponsorship instead of upgrading their network. Most of all, if Vodafone did the right thing and gave people with legitimate problems a token credit and an honest apology, I think you would find people would be much more understanding. Until that happens, people will not put up with your or your employers B.S. Your the one that needs to clue up!!

I have been with vodafone for 3 years now, and only until the last six months have I noticed severe problems with this network. 1. Whilst I am talking on the phone it will drop out completely or my phone will make crazy distorted sounds. 2. I will have full reception but the person on the other line cant hear me. 3. My Internet won't work at all even if I have full reception. I think that ever since vodafone joined with 3 all of these problems started to appear. I am sick of it!!!

Moved to Bundaberg - not to a rural part of the area, but right in town. No coverage at all. Talked to a Vodafone rep who advised me to clean my sim card (ignoring the fact that I have no reception problem when in Brisbane).

I had to change networks as I was not only missing personal calls, but those pesky business ones as well.

we never get reception,we have friends try to call and we get text messages from them saying they try calling and we return their calls when we can get reception,,we go over our cap because of all the extra calls we have to make because of the reception trouble..we can never access the internet because there is never any reception,,we are sick and tired of paying for a service we cannot use when we need it and when we want it,,,its not only 1 phone that we have this trouble with .we have 2 phones on the same account, which we are not out of contract until august 2011..we want our contracts cancelled without their stupid fee so we can go to a carrier that actually cares when you call them about a problem..not to mention we called and complained about our service and the next morning we had outgoing calls barred because we were 4 days over due on payment...i have not paid it and i wont until we get the service we deserve!!!!!!

When they actually get the bill right, $I try to pay my bill on line, they take all of my details the then right at the end of the transaction they say we are having technical difficulties try again later. So you do it again they take the payment out twice. This has happened on several occasions.

9541 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is NOT UP TO STANDARD!!! at 31 Dec 2010 12:25:06 PM
-My pre-paid internet disconnects at least every 10mins during peak times
-During peak time my mobile calls drop out within 1minute of commencement of call
-A few months ago I noticed I was exceeding my limit of calls and checked my bill. I was sending '1' text message and it was being sent every second for 5 seconds, so i was being billed for 6 messages!!! I write lots of texts so this put me over my limit, so I was being charged for my calls over my limit!
-Extremely poor reception
Sometimes my mobile broadband cannot even pick up a signal from GPRS when I cannot connect via 3G.
31 Dec 2010 12:52:27 PM: Also, when my mobile pre-paid broadband will not work, i try and use the net on my phone and NOTHING!!! It really bothers me that they spend soo much on racing car sponsorships etc but cannot improve their customer service. Not good enough!!!

I've been a Vodafone customer since 1999 and up until the last 12 months was happy with the service. In the last 12 months I've been charge the wrong amount on bills, been charged for other peoples bills, had my automatic payment details removed for over 3 months causing my bills not to be paid without my knowledge causing me to incur late and dishonoured payment fees, can't access the MyVodafone website and now can't call any of the Customers Services numbers because they all hangup once they take the call.

9527 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Hell at 31 Dec 2010 11:58:07 AM
this should sum up my problems, its the complaint i sent to vodafone.

Dear Sir / Madam

In mid March I signed a contract for a new Vodafone account. I had not done business with you before. We are unhappy with the service provided. All of the problems are as follows, calls not connecting, extremely poor data performance, no reception in my home where as all other network's phones work. Calls also drop out, SMS messages fail to send occasionaly, SMS messages being recieved days later on some occasions there are other issues as well such as poor coverage in regional areas where as other networks continue to provide the service. When I purchased the phone we asked and were assured we would have coverage in regional areas that we visited.

My first BlackBerry's screen malfunctioned, after receiving a 'loanfone' which continued to offer poor network performance Vodafone quickly replaced the BlackBerry so it was apparent it was not a hardware issue because the service was consistently disappointing and remains so.

I have used Vodafone's network on multiple devices including the original BlackBerry the 'loanfone' and the replacement BlackBerry in multiple locations and it has failed to provide the services promised I would like to move on without a contract break fee. We will return the BlackBerry device on request to our store of purchase, Vodafone Robina. Please reply by email or mobile phone,

Regards,

Andrew Ranson

I went into a store to find out why & I was told that the apple iPhone has very poor reception & that's why. Since then I have noticed other people on the train using there apple iPhone for phone calls & sending text. So the other day I bought a telstra pre paid sim & had coverage the entire way!! Also where I live at pacific pines there is minimal to no reception & continual drop outs, I live 5 minutes from a Vodafone store!! Good work Vodafone... Not!

We changed from 3 to Vodafone (crazy John's) with the reassurance that we would get the the same reception. This has not been the case. One place works in my house for reception and even then it is hit and miss. My reception can drop out for days at a time and like others have received messages days after they were sent. I have already had the phone sent away to be assured that it was fine and when I went in again they told me I would need to send it away at least three times before they may do anything else or I could buy a totally new phone at my expense and "hope that fixes it".

I have decided I am just going to cancel my contract as I have been paying between $100 - $150+ per month and kept my side of tthe contract, however Vodafone has failed to keep their side of the deal as I cant use the phone: Call drop outs no Internet coverage messages take 5+ days to come through sometimes. I have been loosing Business because clients cant get hold of me of leave messages and I dont get back to them, simply because I DONT receive them!!! Then you go into the shop and they cant help you have to sit on the phone for 30....40....50+ minutes to finally speak to someone that can barely communicate in the same language and is no help!!!!!

When I first switched from 3 to Vodafone (because it was my only option to avoid fees from 3 when I moved rural) I was assured there was no reception problems near where I live. I'm currently lucky if I get one bar reception. Calls are always dropping out and voicemail msgs rarely get to me within 24hrs. I'm waiting 12 months for my contract to expire then I'm outta here. Dropouts, failed calls, delayed text messages, choppy calls since early November. Still no better as of today. In light of recent network issues I emailed Vodafone a week ago requesting more information and for them to esaclate my issue, only to be given 3 responses at first saying "Issue Resolved, please reply between the two lines below" rubbish, before I actually got what looked like a human response. This third response was, "Please call us to escalate your issue to our technical support" OMG!
So I call them today, speak to an uninterested non-Australian, who puts me through to technical support. I explain my issue twice to the other non-Australian, who hangs up on me. Unacceptable. Epic Fail for Vodafone.

not receiving msgs nor phone calls
and a heap of other things

I had to send my phone away 3 times to be allowed a replacement phone they then tried to leave me on my $79 dollar contract for a phone that is on a $29 a month
I chucked the biggest argument in the store then on the phone for 3 and half hours and 2 months of Fighting and threatening to take them to court and them telling me i have to pay$900 to get out of a contract for a phone that wouldn't switch on

Has Resulted in a new phone ..... that still has Service issues i cant not wait until my contract is up i will be leaving vodafone

Calls dropping out where the phone shows there should be coverage. Overall appalling coverage even in the middle of major cities. The message "No Serice appears on the phone in the middle of a call or an SMS send inaplace where therewould normally be coverage.SMSsss sending and arriving hours late; Picture messages not sending at all. I have been thinking I was going mad so I am so pleased to see this website. I am not alone!

Hardly any mobile internet coverage, calls drop out in areas where it shouldn't. Have tried for several months now to resolve issues through calling 1555 and going into a store and had no luck.
The girl in the store at Westfield Helensvale told me and I quote "dont you watch TV? Everybody knows that the new iphone 4 has bad reception you should have known and should not have got one". Turns out I know quite a few people with iphone 4's that are with telstra and not having any problems at all. I have been on plans with Vodafone for 13 years but that does not seem to count. I will be going to Telstra next, no doubt.
Also I dont like Holden or McLaren...

I am Vodaphone user for few years now, early December i moved to postcode 4209 and problems started,no Internet connection and phone calls I can do only in particular spot in my bathroom, people who calling me get answer - this phone is switched of - I call Customer Support before Christmas and have been connected to Technician in Mumbay/India,after he managed to stuffed my PC as I follow with confidence his instructions, then after we had no results what so ever he ask me what Brand PC I am using then advice me to contact Manufacturer as he is not qualified to help me with my problem,it took 43 minutes.
So I was stacked again, and guess what I did, went to shop, purchased Telstra Turbo Wireless Broadband($79.00)and my PC work perfectly. Will do same with my Phone/Sim card, may be my experience can help some Vodaphone users to make decision.
Class Action? I am in as I have no money to waste on hopeless 21st Century Communication Company, better will support Charity!

I have a nokia N97 mini that has broken twice in less than 12 months of having the phone. So I decided I needed a new phone thinking it would be easy to get a new phone. I was told I should have a reply from the escalations department in 24 to 48 hours the issue has now gone on for a week. While I did receive a reply in that time frame vodafone's response was that I need two repair slips before they would do an exchange the staff at the store were amazing and offered to ring them so I could talk to them one and a half hours later I was told by the 6th person i spoke to the exact same thing i was told an hour and a half early. So after getting the second repair slip and having the store email them again i was offered an exchange but told that they would send me the phone instead of allowing me to do it in the store. Needless to say I will be going to someone else when my contract is up. Ps. While I am angry at vodafone the staff at the store I have been dealing with have been fantastic and are also getting as frustrated by all of this as I am they have actually gotten to the point where they are making demands on my behalf just to get the situation solved

9435 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is The Worst ever at 31 Dec 2010 08:22:39 AM
After suffering 2 months of service that was getting continually worse by the week. I decided to spend the next couple of months being shuffled from one department to another before finally being told my area all of a sudden required a new tower. I was then told I would be released from my contract with no early termination fees. Great, except I had to go through the same torturous process with my vodacrap mobile broadband. This was finally resoved in September 2010. I then received a letter from a credit agency through vodafone for an early termination fee. No bill no letters no calls just a letter from a credit collection agency. Now as I try to get my wife out of the same rubbish I went through we spent a whole day using the call back service before being cut off, directed to wrong departments, left on hold for 45 minutes before being hung up on and having no success at all. I will try again today and let you know the outcome. Funny thing is I just received in my in box a bill from vodafone for overdue amount from my mobile broadband. Get ready Vodafone I am dialling now. In all honesty people how can this company survive this, crap service, non existant customer service and a product that has such a bad name. I am willing to bet that this company will cease to exist in the next year.

9433 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more useless than an a-hole on my elbow at 31 Dec 2010 08:18:34 AM
i currently have no signal on my vodafone phone. it has been like this for at least an hour, and I can't seem to fix it. I would call vodafone to complain, but I don't have any reception!!! a similar thing happened a couple of days ago when i went to meet someone in a shopping centre - as soon as I walked through the doors, all my signal dropped out. according to someone in the vodafone store i was "like, the 10th person" to come and complain about no signal, and apparently they were trying to fix it. I think it's a break in contract on their half if I can't rely on their service. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make calls/access the net at any time. In an emergency situation, this would be devastating. I'm not talking about 112 emergencies, but simple everyday emergencies like being late for work, or being in a broken down car. If I can't call my boss or RACQ when I need to, then I need to change services!
damn you vodafone!!!

9421 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is In Trouble I would think at 31 Dec 2010 08:01:15 AM
I just moved back to Vodaphone a (who I was with about 10 yrs ealier) from Optus. I have brought accross 3 phones and purchased 3 new handsets on plan with Vodaphone's Crazy John's outlets. I thought Vodaphone would offer similar coverage to Optus espically when there website said (Qutoed from Vodaphone Australia website "Vodafone's 3G network covers more than 94% of the Australian population. GSM (2G) network covers up to 94.52%* of the Australian population. Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia.").

I have had shocking coverage and in the 4 weeks I have been with them I have had limited reception in Toowoomba, No reception at Pittsworth QLD and limited to no coverage in the Tweed Heads area of the Gold Coast. I live in Brisbane and on many occasions I can't get 3G or for that matter internet coverage as my handset seems to drop signal and not connect. This issues is happenong on all 3 of our handsets which are all diffrent makes and models of phones.

I feel that Vodaphone offer no where near 94% coverage to the Australain Population they claim and the quality of service in the (so called lucky few that do have coverage) is not very reliable.

I have been with Vodafone for the last 6-7years. I have been on $49, $69 caps and now on a $79 cap. Over the last 24months i have had real problems with coverage. I was not working from april to July and my phone bills were around $100. when i started back at work, working six days college 1 full day and 4 hours a night for 3 nights, my phone bill jumped to $400 -$500. In the last 6 months it has just been terrible with network. i have around 2+ calls a day that drop out, around 2+ calls that i cant even connect to but yet my bill jumps by at least $300. when i called at the beginning of december they could not explain to me why it had jumped. all he did was discuss if he changed me to a $79 cap then he can credit those bills and you wont pay more. I thank him in a way for that but at the end of the day why did the bills jump? why after 6+ years did it take me to call for them to help? I am paying more for a coverage that i hardly use!!!

My husband and I pay a substantial amount each month on our contracts with Vodafone. We live in Brisbane and spend a considerable time at the coast. We send photos of our newborn to relatives in Sydney. They received them up to three days after we send them!!!!!! Having calls drop out is the norm for us especially when up the sunshine coast - you'd think we were in the outback! The Internet is very slow and look, I don't know if every other carrier is the same, it comes down hotbox - if you say you are going to provide a service then do so - if you don't , stop taking our money. It's not about impatience and now now now mentality. It's requiring a multiple million dollar carrier to provide service that it promises. Customer Service Reps cop it from customers because of their employers failure to care. They have their frontline on little money dealing with greedy decisions they make in the board room.

I use pre paid mobile broadband. I was with 3 and always had great coverage. But my usb device got old would drop out as it come lose and break conection.
Being with Vodafone with my mobile phone i went with them for my internet, WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!
Before i brought it i asked how good was the coverage, i told the guy where i lived. He told me he wasnt far from me and he most of the time had full coverage and somtetimes it would only drop one bar but that was rare and didnt even affect as it was only one bar down. So on this being said i brought it.
When i went home and tryed to conect i couldnt get NOT ONE bar of reception. After two days of trying on the third day i was finally able to conect ONLY WITH ONE BAR.
After i full week of most times getting no coverage and sometimes only concecting with one bar (even then would most times just cut out) i had had enough. I went back to the same shop and told them how unhappy i was with my POOR concetion. I was told "The tower for this area is down, but they are already fixing it so it wont take much longer"
A month later and nothing has changed WHAT I LIE!!! Then it starts coming in the paper about this problem. I could of been told the truth before i brought it, but i guess selling them off the shelves and pretenting to deal with the problem later is more important to Vodafone, then telling the truth and letting people go to other companies.
I was always happy with Vodafone with my mobile phone. BUT THIS IS BECOME THEN A JOKE!!! thanks for nothing Vodafone!!!!

9359 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is dont treat staff like nothing at 30 Dec 2010 10:25:25 PM
I have previously worked for a vodafone store and half these issues are ridiculous! More then 50% of the 'issues' mentioned on the site could be solved in one simple phone call or a visit to your store. I resolved several of these a day! All telco customer care centres are based in India believe it or not. They speak fluent english otherwise they wouldnt have been able to get their job in the first place! People theses days dont want to wait, they exaggerate their wait times saying they waited 2 hours when its been 15 minutes come on people, we are such a now now now society that when something doesnt get resolved in the first 5 minutes you chuck in the towel and have a whinge! I did the best I could everyday to provide excellent service with the policies and procedures in place. If your not happy with the service then leave! Go to telstra, you'll get just as annoyed with them and either come running back or do the loop and try optus next, only to find some other issue with them! technology has come a long way and people dont know how to live without it, so what if your call drops mine have and I dont get all pissy about it. I simply call back and get on with my life! Seriously instead of a credit check for customers we should do a IQ test instead, sort the normal people from the retards!
30 Dec 2010 10:32:10 PM: Oops, wrong link :)

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1368.snc4/164004_481965247690_525112690_6469062_6645789_n.jpg
30 Dec 2010 10:38:15 PM: dude its probably the 50,000 people calling up wanting a whinge about service only to find they have put their sim card in back to front. Its happened, several customers a day in fact! all you customers are creating the long wait times.
30 Dec 2010 10:41:02 PM: I highly doubt the people that are here posting about no coverage, constant call drop outs, sms/mms arriving hours to days later are calling up to find out they have their sim card back to front. More like they are calling up for all of the reasons that seem to be repeated throughout the 9000+ complaints. I am not saying they are all the same, but the majority of posts have all of those issues in them.
30 Dec 2010 10:44:49 PM: I agree with a lot of what you said... there are some points to also raise here..... 3's call centre was in Mumbai India, until recently voda's was in Egypt, Fiji and Tasmania. with the merger Fiji and Egypt closed and they took on board 3's contact centre Optus is in Malaysia and Telstra is mostly here in oz but has one oe 2 in India. (I don't have a problem with that either, I find them lovely. Alot of issues is infact handset manufacture problems, ie: Sony Ericsson in a lot of there models hold the network better than say a LG. Another point is Tool of trade mobiles (mobiles which I know most 3 staff even in their Australian contact centres have and wouldn't surprise me if its now adopted by voda as one) get network priority. Vodafones network is well known to be ageing though so really when it comes to the knitty gritty it wouldn't hurt for them to spend a little bit of their now $4 Billion in revenue they gain from what seems to be a now not so loyal 7 million subscribers.....
30 Dec 2010 10:48:06 PM: VF staff bagging clients is not helping the cause. If the issue was idiot customers your CEO wouldn't be apologizing. Still working in customer service I sympathise that CSRs are copping the flack for managements stuff ups.
31 Dec 2010 12:26:24 AM: Strangly enough, if you did a little research you'd find Vodafone is currently doing a half-a-billion dollar upgrade on their network...
31 Dec 2010 05:35:15 AM: They can go shove there Indian call centers. I switched to virgin after vodafone stuffed my bill up that took them over 4 weeks to fix. But 90% of the time I get an Aussie and if I get an indian I hang up and ring again. Vodafone needs to stop outsourcing becuase just maybe if they employed Aussies then customer wouldn't spend so much time yelling at the staff member they can't understand. Yes, they may speak English but that does not mean you can understand 50% of what their saying. What irritates me the most is that it's hard to find a job in Australia as it is yet companies like vodafail continue to outsource overseas. But I supose if Telstra do it the is ok. WRONG Vodafone!
31 Dec 2010 08:11:23 AM: If voda/3 didnt have overseas call centres you would find the voda contact centre would be open till 8 pm still.... not 24 hours... its not just about money its also about having the ammount of people needed to service a large ammount of calls. If you continue to hang up and call again you are only going to contact someone that can't help you... If you call through to say Voda direct sales not only can they not help you, you are also ruining someones stats, sales conversion then ultimately hurting their hip pocket (commissions) not a very nice way to treat a fellow ausralia.. Also your one call that might only last 30seconds before hanging up is not only wasting your time and getting you frustrated its also costing the company $100 plus per call.
31 Dec 2010 01:31:01 PM: Your a fkn idiot the person who posted the initial post. I'm paying $80 a month and not getting the service that Vodafone states I should be receiving.

Read the The ACCC enforces the Trade Practices Act, a law which, among other things, imposes on sellers a ``statutory condition'' that goods and services must be ``fit for their intended purpose''. When they aren't, it breaks the deal between the seller and the consumer.

I only recently switched from Optus Timeless plan to Vodafone's woeful Infinite plan, no 3G internet on my HTC Desire HD, MMS's arrive 2-3 days late, I live in Brisbane's 4000 postcode, my signal drops out completely, hardly ever see the 3G on my phone. And yes I (like the other 10,000) vodafone customers have called support and waited not minutes, but hours on hold to speak to someone, I eventually got through and my call dropped out twice while talking to them! Haha go fk yourself if you think we are whingers! If we pay for a service, we expect it to be up to standard.
31 Dec 2010 02:06:21 PM: Here here! I used to work for Voda as well and used to get customers complain about the long wait times all the time. I always loved it when with their phone calling the same number I would get through in 5/10 minutes.
31 Dec 2010 09:38:39 PM: NO 3G coverage by VF anywhere...3G fails to operate
31 Dec 2010 09:40:26 PM: anytime this wally wants to see my recorded records of gross failure he is free to look....but give me any of this tripe about how good VF is.....they need to get their game togther....
2 Jan 2011 08:36:59 PM: Initial post is interesting - "used to work for VF". If they are such a great company, why did you leave them? Can't have been that great a company then. You can't honestly think that all of these complaints, this website, news articles etc are just because a few people can't work their phone or wait for more than 15 minutes? If you do, you are a bigger idiot than I thought. Maybe if VF did an IQ test on their staff, there wouldn't be as many problems!!! Typical VF staff member (former) demonstrating their astounding lack of empathy. Newsflash, that is part of your job - customer support and assistance - idiot!!!

80% of the time in my home I will have "no service" on my iPhone. I rarely get 1 bar of service & when I do it's a race against time to either send or receive any messages before the "network lost" alert appears. It was extremely frustrating to get a new phone on a plan which I defiantly can't complain about - except that I can't actually use it in my home. Extremely dussapointing indeed & defeats the purpose of having the phone. If it weren't for having wi-fi Internet in our home, the phone would be completely useless to me 70% of the time

Having been a loyal customer of vodafone in NZ first for 10 years then OZ for the last 3 years I am finally taking the leap to telstra. This decision is based on the poor coverage both with broadband and mobile calls/text that I have experienced for three years hoping things would improve and they haven't if anything the situation has gotten worse. This example is for today I received a message from vodafone advising I had three new messages, my phone hadn't rung and the messages were left the day prior on my phone by friends. For the last week and about 5pm every day I have not been able to make/receive calls or text. Vodafone your customer service is just as bad as Telstras, When I cancelled my broadband account there was a credit of $50 on there, it took three months and many phone calls to get this this money transferred to my mobile phone account as I thought this would be straight forward and easy, I would have been better off getting a cheque posted out! I could go on about the coverage and service problems I have encountered only to be informed from the Customer Service staff that it was the phone I had, a phone that your company sold me. Shame on you Vodafone your roll out of improving the system should not have taken three years and the Customer Service you provide is seriously lacking!

Hung up on 3 times and total call time of around 2hrs, and there fix was to delete my voicemail box and all custom settings without even asking me or providing a real fix. So dont use voicemail, you may want to avoid voicemail at all cost as you may loose all incoming calls and voicemails. Also, vodafone cant give you any kind of reference to the issue, other then the persons first name of the staff member ask them to spell it and keep and nope of date/time/name of person and the issue notes

My story is too long to type in here. Briefly, I had problems getting my new handset and Mobile Broadband modem delivered to me. It ended up taking months to receive the modem. I was assaulted in June and my phone was stolen. They would not honour the insurance policy unless I paid $300 excess for a $330 phone. I had to spend money on a prepaid phone. When I finally received my new handset I gave the other phone away. Unfortunately the set up procedure failed, and I was without a phone for weeks. This played a part in me becoming unwell and I was hospitalised for two months. I finally received my broadband modem and got to set up my phone in October. It took a lot of phone calls to reduce my bills for that period when I had no phone, and I had to pay off a lot of money. I thought that wasn't fair as there wasn't a sim active on it, and my old number had been blocked since June. It is now at the point where I can't stand calling them again to complain. I always get transferred to all the wrong departments and cut off. My new modem I got in October has failed to work properly the whole time I've had it. It usually works for 2-5 minutes before it cuts out. My bill is massive. I am a pensioner and can't afford it, but I must have agreed to it and now I have to wait another two years to change companies. It has been nothing but trouble and has contributed to my illness.
30 Dec 2010 08:37:05 PM: Your experience sounds truly horrible. Besides the suggestions listed under 'How To Complain' on this site, considering you are unwell, I think you might like to contact your local community legal centre to book an appointment and see if they can sort it out on your behalf.

At home I get limited reception but often find that calls don't come through ie the phone doesn't ring even though it shows 2 bars of reception - the calls go directly to message bank. It happens when I'm right beside the phone so I know it hasn't rung. Txts sometimes take hours to arrive & sometimes don't get to my phone until the next day even though the phone shows reception. WTF? Very unreliable.

9252 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very disappointing at 30 Dec 2010 06:43:54 PM
Went into the apple shop in Robin just before christmas to sign the wife up to a new contract with Three so she could get an Iphone. The salesmen said he wasn't able to do a three contract as it was an upgrade from an existing 3 customer. These had to be done through Three. However he advised us that he could upgrade her to a Vodafone plan and that it was a much better one as it had much more included for the same price.

He said the reason behind this is that In 6 to 12 months all existing Three customers will have to move over to the Vodafone network so the company is discouraging people signing up with Three by making the contacts with Vodafone a better deal.

I expressed my concerns that I knew Three's reception work well for us at home and I was hesitant to sign with Vodafone as it was unknown. He however show'd me their coverage Map and that our area was fully covered. I said I believe those maps don't paint the full picture and it varies greatly depending on where u are in suburb and what kind of dwelling your in. He assured though that the coverage would be fine. Not wanting to wait 10 weeks to get a phone through Three we reluctantly signed up.

Since we have had it we get nothing but 1 bar of reception on their 3G network, That doesn't seem enough to make the internet work, We often get call drop outs and it will often will roam on Vodafone's 2G network. We are now locked in to a 2 year contract with a phone that doesn't work like it should and we can't get out of it.

I have been with vodafone for about 18 months, and for most of this time I have been unable to speak on my phone. Regardless of where I am, my service is usually crap! Every time people call me I have to walk around until they can hear me and then I cant move until the call ends. A lot of the time that people call my phone it just says it is turned off, but in reality it just has no service. I called voadafone within a week of joining their service to complain and they told me it was NOT the service, it was my phone..... I have never been offered any form of compensation and I now tend to sms only.

I have just left vodafone at Robina I could kill someone! My phone decided this morning it would not turn on. I am locked into a 24 month contract, I am 1 year and 10 days into said contract and was just informed my phone is no longer under warranty and will not be fixed by them. They will happily send it off to be fixed for me it will be $50 for them to send it then whatever charges it is to fix....my battery has erroded or some crap! When I refused this I was offered to purchase a new phone at my own expense but they couldn't guarantee my sim would work in the new phone and if not i would have to buy a new sim...another $50 I rang vodafone off my husbands phone after 1 hour 27 minutes I hung because I was being to charged to on his phone to fix my effing phone!!! This is after fighting with them all year about my bill...it was $86....so they took $860 of my credit card in January 2010 but have no fear I got a refund in July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They then charged me for cancelling a contract....which was another mistake. I got offered a fantastic job....too bad I ended up not getting it because my voice mail message didn't come through until a week later. MY sister I had a baby I congratulated her when I got the text message 4 days after the baby was born
30 Dec 2010 08:48:29 PM: I'm calling bullshit on this post. Manufacturing warranties are from the manufacturer i.e Nokia, Samsung, apple etc. not Vodafone. Check your handset instruction manual if you don't believe it. In fact Vodafone was the first to offer 2 year warranties for all phones except iphones purchased after 01/01/2010. Also, if the sim didn't work in the new phone then all that is needed is a sim swap which is free. If you're calling customer care from another phone and are being charged for being on hold then use the callback option! Take accountability for yourself okay. There are legitimate reasons to pissed at Vodafone, don't blame vodafone for stuff that isn't actually their fault. False complaints clog up the system and make it harder for the rest of us with real actual issues to get them timely resolved.

Over the last couple of days my daughter cannot make any phone calls. When she tries all she gets from her end as well as the person she has dialled is static and buzzing across the line. My wife's phone (who is also with Vodaphone) had the same problem yesterday but it appears hers is now working today. My daughter suffers from a disability and she needs to have constant contact with us. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
30 Dec 2010 04:46:12 PM: trial pre paids of other companies ( or check friends ) to find the best for her situation i recommend optus you may be in a good telstra reception area but be carefully of the fees i have been caught by family member connecting to mobile data instead of wifi ( optus ). I turn of answering service as well and get optus to extend rings to maximum so i can get to the phone.

Just visited Mackay for the Christmas holidays. My mobile coverage was appalling. Last time I visited I was not with Vodafone and had no problems, this time with Vodafone I was lucky to get reception or little reception most of the time. Not impressed. Unless Vodafone improves their coverage I will be moving to Telstra (whom I know do have good coverage) when my contract with Vodafone expires.

9151 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Sporadic at 30 Dec 2010 02:50:20 PM
For several months Vodafone have been inconsistent with providing me with MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE as well as MOBILE INTERNET ACCESS. I have spoken with dozens of staff from their Customer Services, Faults and Network departments including Management, all in India and Egypt? They usually explain the problem away by informing me that they are doing maintenance in my area and that this will improve my service. This answer did not satisfy me after hearing it repeatedly, so I eventually asked them which areas are affected and how long it would be before my service would be reinstated. They then told me that the whole of my area, Parramatta, was affected, but would all be fixed soon. The funny thing is that I don't live in Parramatta, I don't even live in NSW!! The main issues with my mobile phone involve text messages not being received for 24 hours or longer, or in some cases being sent repeatedly maybe five or six times. I have no control over any of this, nor sometimes any idea of when it is happening, but not only has it cost me loads of money in lost business, it has also cost me excessive phone costs whilst it is happening. I am extremely fed up! I am reluctant to change back to Telstra as I have had major problems with them in the past, as well as Optus who began billing me for a phone service I did not even have connected!! I have utilised the TIO for these complaints, but as they are so bombarded with complaints it usually takes months before the problems are addressed, and in my case the TIO appeared quite powerless against the huge bully phone company so the issues were definitely not resolved to my satisfaction. I support any fight against any telephone company.
30 Dec 2010 03:08:51 PM: I agree with you thoroughly and I have felt your pain. I left Telstra and Bigpond because they hold close to a monopoly (I prefer not to shop at Coles or Woolies either), but I guess I'll be going back to them. At least their service is better than the alternatives, even though we pay through the teeth for the services! I hope the National Broadband Network makes a big difference.
30 Dec 2010 05:06:19 PM: NBN that is a failed business model will not work basic connection $ 56.00 at 12 megabits per second speed . No body has said how many GB per month that will buy, NBN guess is about enough to check the email some were between 2 GB and 10 GB , i will be keeping my TPG at 6 megabits per second and very competitive pricing thank you the politicians have had the wool pulled over there eyes again Telstra is already selling 30 megabits speed plans in Sydney or Melbourne now maybe able to get 100 megabits with newer technology. I wont be changing over just wont be able to afford a decent limit.

I am a director of a small to medium business solutions centre. Though Saving money on landlines are great, Service on mobiles is the 2nd most asked questions.
Vodafone have really done the dash with a lot of customers and people can not get away quick enough.
Most people see it as they can pay out a contract with a year to go because its a small loss compared to weeks and possibly thousands of dollars of work when the mobile does not ring when diverted.
Its unfortunate, But inevitable. Voda and 3 will do well together, Both epic failures.
How can VP still be advertising call caps, free texts in aus and overseas to anyone? Its terrible really. Sucking more and more people in to the vortex of absolute nothingness.

Was with Optus/Virgin/iSim - all on the Optus network. Had no problems. Went to a Service Provider on Vodafone Netwrok - for 1 month - calls dropped off, calls kept going to voicemail even when the phone was not being used, no reception even in the middle of the city. The call cost may have been cheaper but when you have to re-call or kept getting charged to retrieve voicemail, it didn't work out any cheaper. Luckily, this was a pre-paid service. We then transfered to Think - their plan that uses the Telstra Network. No problems now. Vodafone - never again.

9139 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 30 Dec 2010 02:30:33 PM
I live approximate 5kms outside of and work in Brisbane CBD, over the past few months I've noticed my 3G service getting worse and worse, I'll have full bars of 3G, yet everything will just time out, sometimes putting it in and out of airline mode will work, but more and more it does nothing. After repeatedly calling customer care I decided enough was enough, this is where the real frustration begins.

I rang up customer care and was put through to tech support where I waited on hold for approximately half an hour, finally my call's answered, after swearing tooth and nail (not in a profane sense, as in trying to convince the operator) that I've gone through the trouble shooting steps again and again, have upgraded to an from a 3G S to an iPhone 4 since the problems began (eliminating my handset and SIM as cause of the issue) he finally agrees to escalate my call, I wait on hold for another half hour or so, only to be put back through to first level support, I explain to the technician that I've just gone through this process and am waiting to be escalated, he puts me on hold AGAIN. Another half hour of sitting on hold and my phone call is disconnected!

Furious I call back up, go through the same process of convincing first level support there's nothing wrong with my handset, I then go through to second level support and have a support ticket opened. Great finally getting somewhere.

Not quite: A few days later customer care rings me back up. They're closing my ticket on the basis that my location is considered a low coverage area. I was furious at this point:

1. I explained when I lodged my ticket this problem is persistent everywhere I go, Home, Brisbane CBD for work, Melbourne CBD. If Brisbane CBD SERIOUSLY considered a low coverage area?
2. I don't care about what the coverage is like at home. Whenever I'm at home, my phone is connected to my wifi, I have no need for 3G at home.
3. According to the coverage maps on the Voda website, my street has perfectly good coverage.

The customer care rep said he was going to go back to his supervisor and call me back.

Later on that afternoon I got a text message saying my support ticket had been closed and to give them a call customer care for details of the resolution.

To hell with that, I'm not going to go through the same process all over again and potentially get nowhere with it, prepare for case with the TIO.

9127 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is poor service at 30 Dec 2010 02:15:59 PM
Vodafone service has been pretty good to me up until I started receiving no coverage at my partner's home in Newtown 4305 even though the Vodafone website clearly states that there is coverage in this area. My frustrations come from the fact that I am unable to send messages and receive messages, access the internet, make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls when I am in Newtown 4305. Basically, I might as well not have a mobile. It is a real inconvenience to me and I've had to purchase an Optus sim in order to gain access in this area. I am not a fan of Optus but in this instance they offer the service I require. I do not see how it is fair that I am in a contract with Vodafone and am paying for such a service but am not receiving the service that was promised to me when I entered into this contract with Vodafone. I have tried to contact Vodafone customer service lines to discuss this problem, the only problem with this is that I am placed on hold for long periods of time. I also submitted online emails explaining my situation to Vodafone customer service personnel only to receive a reply email saying that the issue had been resolved before they had any contact with me. My perception of Vodafone was once good and now I beg to differ...

9126 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is New Business Customer at 30 Dec 2010 02:15:11 PM
We have been a business customer of Vodafone since June 2010. One day after the first invoice was due, our phones were disconnected due to non payment. The problem was, the billing address was wrong, hence we did not receive an account - but not only that - after a lot of complaining, I was told by a Vodafone call centre person that they did not have a record of any invoice being sent. This was my first introduction of how I would be treated as a business customer. Since then, we have had continual drop outs; failing to connect; SOS only calls; calls breaking up; calls going direct to message bank even though phone is fully functioning. On several occasions, I have had to drive back to the office to use a land-line to make calls as my clients and customers cannot hear me or the phone drops out and I am unable to return the call due to the phone failing to connect. I have had to drive back to work after coming home to get another phone (on another network), because the only coverage I got from my Vodafone was SOS. We have two Vodafones and now we actually carry two phones on another network, so that we can call each other to say that the Vodafone is not working - or the call is going straight to message bank. I have had calls from our staff to say the other person's phone is not contactable. I then ring my work partner on the other phone - he then rings the staff member. All these calls are costing us money. A simple phone call, now becomes three calls. In addition, we are paying a set monthly fee for the phones, which we cannot utilise properly and in the meantime, paying for additional mobile calls from our landline and the other mobile service provider. The problem is so bad that it is actually causing me stress and frustration, because I worry that the person ringing (my customer or potential customer or client) will not be able to hear me or the phone will drop out. I find that I have to repeat myself continually-which costs me time. Lately, it is without fail that my callers tell me that I am breaking up and could I ring them on another phone. I am constantly apologising to customers/clients for something that is not my fault. The problem is out of control. How can we run an efficient business, based on communication - if our phones don't work?
