26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6359 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I Can't Get No Satisifaction at 28 Dec 2010 10:25:00 AM
I've been with this particulr company for a while. It seems that they don't give a dam for so called valued customers, it seems to me as if there were a black hole in comunication for so called coverage. As a customer I pay for this so called service, but get none. So I think it's only fair that I get get what I pay for , but oh no they demand my money when it's due & as for my writes I don't have any & get slugged for a late fee for my trouble. So to all you out there DON'T GIVE THEM THE SATISACTION as we should not to opt out of our contract, THEY SHOULD PAY US FOR the inconvience. DON'T SIGN UP again. COMPANIES like them shouldent be allowed to operate. I also missed out on jobs though the lack of reception. Signed Disgruntled

I never am able to recieve my voicemails till a few hours after. same with text messages. If i try to call someone, it can either take up to 5 minutes to start ringing or i have to turn my phone on and off. it does this while telling me i have full reception. they constantly mess up my bill, i pay a automatic 50 dollars a fortnight yet they still try to charge me full amount at the end of each month and when investigated it shows that i have paid. they will not let me end my contract. will never go with them again.

First and foremost...Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! For giving a real way to voice our concerns especially as we can not do that through the proper and usual channels such as the provider! I work for an agency so heavily rely on my phone for incoming work. For 3 days I had no incoming calls and I could not call out. This meant I could not call vodafone from my mobile to complain either lol...yeah funny now! I spent over and hour twice trying to contact vodafone, eventually I got a message saying they were experiencing an unusual amount of calls and refered me to the web site! That was the next joke..on me! I then tried to email a complaint which never eventuated as the process is so confusing you just give up!! Excactly what they want! lol then they email you to say they never heard back from you so presume the problem is solved LOL LOL (in a very unstable mental way LOL) I went to 2 vodafone shops for advice but got 'the old' they only sell phones! Lol..nothing new there! Eventually I got hold of a guy who told me there were no outages and it must be something wrong with my phone even though 3 of my friends had the same problem! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Vodafone! I went out and bought an optus so I could continue getting calls from work! Cya vodafone I voted with my feet!

Again thank you for allowing me to vent! now if someone could do the same with Telstra for internet all my christmas's would have come at one! OH TO HAVE A VOICE!

Buderim on the Sunshine Coast (postcode 4556) has TERRIBLE reception. I have to go for a drive to make a phone call, I don't receive messages or voicemails unless I leave home. Vodafone offers great plans and i've been a happy customer otherwise, but the reception issue is ridiculous and could easily be resolved.

i became a new vodafone customer about a year ago. i got the Nokia N97 and a mobile internet package. Ever since day 1 the internet modem has NOT worked. When i called them they sent me a file that i ahd to downlaod to update it. Why would i ahve to update a brand new modem??? They also set up a direct connection to them to run through my modem. when i said i wanted a new modem or to cancel my internet they argued with me that because they had set up a direct connection that there was nothing i could do. I have had to keep paying for internet that i dont use at $39/month for nearly a year now. NOT HAPPY! And also their coverage in the North Lakes area is absolute rubbish !

My VF supplied Iphone broke down one day so I returned it to the store for warranty repair. After 8 weeks of returning the store every tuesday to get the same rubbish about waiting for parts my phone finaly comes back. The store operators told me that VF would not repair because there was water in the unit. I was a little confused at this because the phone does not go anywhere near water. I asked them if there was anywhere in town that would fix the phone for me and the guy gave me the name of a local dealer. This new guy fixed the phone for $130 and then told me that there was no water in the screen at all and VF should have fixed it for me in the first place. I went back to the VF store to complain and ask for a refund of my $130. Apparantly the dealer who I had been sent to was not on the official list of people who VF deal with so now the warranty is void! While all this was going on, I had not received any communication from VF themselves (i.e. Bills/letters in paper or electronically). I tried to ring them but got seriously bored after an hour on hold. When I finaly got my phone back and tried to use it there was call barring on the unit. After waiting out the hold and talking to Lara for several hours I finally got through to some one who explained to me in broken english that there was an upaid bill of $549 on my account. Even though I explained everything that had happened I still had to pay the bill and I am still suffering call drop outs, bad signal and so on

I have not reception at home or at work!!... We appear in Vodafone's Purple zone but i have to walk outside my house into the garden to get a very average signal.. at work i just have to divert my phone to the work number as this is the only option... occasionally on an overcast day i might get one or two bars but once i take a call it drops out within the first minute..!!! Been with vodafone for over 8years... this year is testing my loyalty.. have been told upgrades to a tower last Sept would fix the problem !! HA!!! Fail again... as for 3G internet FAIL again .. i have a wireless card for work and even down in Manly Sydney i can barely use either .. at home and work forget it .. only putting up with it because i refuse to deal with Telstra!!!!

6305 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrated, Unhappy, and No Satisfaction at 28 Dec 2010 09:47:53 AM
My husband and i have been with Vodafone for 2 years and six months, on a three year contract. We both have a phone each on a $79 cap, for months we have had no reception, if we do ever get a call it looses signal and drops out and we don't get any txt messages for days after. My husband has lost jobs and some people has had to come around to our house, they said they have been trying to call us for days.

So we went into the shop to complain they said that they couldn't do anything in the shop, so they gave us a number to ring. While we were there we noticed that they didn't even have any signal in their own shop. When we got home i rang that number he told me to swap the sim card over, and if it still doesn't work go back into the shop and get a sim card replacement. Or we can pay the rest of the remaining contract, so not doing that, not giving them any satifaction.

Being so frustrated i rang the Telecommunication Ombudsman, guess what i got an answer machine saying that they where snowed under with people calling, and to vist their website to make a complaint. Probably snowed under with vodafone unhappy customers. Don't know what to do next, but thanx this has let some of my pain and frustration out.

I run a business with two iphones and mobile broadband on Vodafone over the last 6 months the service has got worse, dropped out calls, no service in CBD's, recieving SMS and voicemails 24 hours after being sent, emails not arriving to recipient and the list goes on. If I ran my business this way i would lose business therefore my contract ends in April I will not be renewing TELSTRA here I come.

6266 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Fail. at 28 Dec 2010 09:32:38 AM
My partner and i got phones at the same time.

First fail. Our phones are registered to the other partner.
Second Fail. I live in a capital city. I expect reception in a CAPITAL CITY. Obviously wanting reception is too big a wish.
Third Fail. When it rains. I essentially have no phone. I get no sms, no voicemail, almost no phonecalls (the ones that do get through, only last 2 seconds before theyt cut out).
Fourth Fail. I recieve sms' and voicemail hours to a WEEK after they were sent/recorded.... I'm supposed to have Visual voicemail. This is what i'm paying for people! (Because thats not working i'm paying to retrieve my voicemail)
Fifth Fail. I expect customer service. By customer service I mean someone who: Can speak English. Who doesn't blame it on my phone. Who doesn't blind transfer me. Who actually knows what they're talking about. And I expect that someone could think of saying to customers when calling up, that the computer systems are down before having to wait an hour plus to talk to them. Also... No, we'll investigate it and call you back within 48hours (they never call back).
Sixth Fail. I can't go to the store to figure out my reception problems... I have to call the shoddy telephone line, which hurts my ears, and makes me wait, listening to the shoddy line for an hour or more.

I WANT OUT! Shame on you Vodafone. You should be shut down for bad customer service and bad service all round.

I stupidly thought I would update my phone to the lastest technology. It lastest two weeks I took it back to Vodafone and had it replaced, five days later that one wouldnt work, had it replaced that lastest nine days, finally had enough told them I didnt want that model phone again, I was told your contract was for that phone either have it replaced or go without. I thought the contract was for the service not a particular model of phone that is a dud.

I was with Vodafail for over 6 years on prepaid then contract, getting no service, moved from Brisbane to Wide Bay having service when we first moved then got progressively worse, got sick and tired of being on hold, get drop outs while trying to ring them having to go through the process with lara sometime up to ten time before you got to speak with some one, not being able understand them when you finally get through to a human, let alone if you got the right department in the first place, getting transfer to the right department then dropping out and having to start the whole process again, my longest call to nowhere took over 2 hours. Every time you had a problem it would not get resolved, finally contract finish and moved to telstra, i moved 4 phones away from vodafail to telstra, cost a little more however i can actually use my phone. now I have left I get text messages to tell me that my email address to send my bill is not available, [which is a Bigpond email address and is still active] telling me to log on to my account [which I don't have anymore] and change email address, trying to email them is about it is still on going for a month now, receive the bill with a credit of $70+ trying to get it credited to my credit card which use to pay the bill, still waiting for a reply on that one, I am not even with them and still having issues.

my daughter is with 3 since vodafail took over she gets no service from just north of central Brisbane past wide bay previously she got service all the way.

to think that Vodafail forced the government to get rid of the analogue system or they would not bring there digital network in.

my calls drop out every single day and on average twice per call if call is longer than 3 minutes. incoming calls go straight to voicemail even though phone signal bar indicates adequate signal coverage. i have been expecting calls only to have my voice mail call me with messages left due to not being connected. this is so consistent that i purchased a telstra prepaid to use when signal is too poor. i even call my voda number with the signal bar displaying fair to good sighnal just to be diverted to my voicemail. this is not limited to the phone i use, i have 4 brands of phones (3 spare phones) iphone3gs, nokia n97mini, samasung galaxy and motorola razor and there is no difference between them except the nokia is a little less reliable. Never Again will i use vodafone when contract expires! EVER!!!!

will shorten this down, cause to explain the entire problem will take too uch of your time!
i bought a brand new vodafone, it was stuffed. getting extremely hot and going flat within a couple of hours!
i took it in and they sent it away. after six weeks i called and it had been sitting there for three weeks with no phonecall. it was still stuffed, same problem.
i took it in again the next day, they sent it away and it took three more weeks. once again it was sitting there without a phone call to let me know it was ready! AND . . . still stuffed!!
i took it in the third time and asked for a new one! but no, company policy is "it has to be sent away 3 times first." it was gone for another 6 weeks. during which time i called a couple of times to see if it was ready, to which i received some very abrupt replies stating that they will call me when its ready (yeh right!!)
it was still stuffed after the third time and i went back in again! after an hour of waiting because even the sales rep got put on hold! they finally agreed to give me a new phone which will be sent out!! and i should receive it within 10 working days. AWESOME!!!
it has since been 8 weeks and no phone! chasing it up, but as yet, no luck!

Since September, I have called costumer service a few times and am still waiting for replies. After moving to a new town and finding I had absolutely NO coverage, I wanted to see if they would put me on a smaller monthly plan whilst I was still paying the phone off. I refuse to pay $80 per month for something they cannot provide - though I am willing to continue to pay for the phone. As no-one appears to want to discuss it with me, I'm not paying them anything until they do, which unfortunately will hurt me than it will them. The lady who works at the store I brought the phone from said the same thing happened to her, and they gave her $5 a month off her plan price! What a joke.

I have been with Vodaphone for many years and was completely happy with the service. Over the last 18 months however they are just the most disgusting service. Staff are rude, you spend many hours trying to speak with someone. I have been hung up on.

My phone doesn't work, my coverage is crap. I can't get any calls, or I don't receive calls. I get text messages hours after they are sent. I can't pay my bill over the phone, I cannot access my internet account, so I am told to go to the Post Office - would prefer if they fixed it after all I am paying for the service. I have now refused to pay my bill until something is done to my satisfaction...............3 months later................nil contact!!!!

I wanted to reduce my plan as I no longer need the plan I am on. I was told I was contracted to that plan............that's not what I was told when I upgraded and has never been the case before.
28 Dec 2010 08:49:04 AM: might I add. My phone was an on call phone used for emergencies. Guess how many emergencies I missed.

I have exerienced continuous dropouts on both. My connection can be so slow then prior to Christmas I was with out the internet for two days. Their answer was that they were having connection problems too? This service is far from satisfactory and downright annoying. They have not been at all helful. 28 Dec 2010 08:33:38 AM: Vodafone, that is disgusting.
28 Dec 2010 12:39:24 PM: It's not their fault you moved fool, if you moved overseas, could you just leave your contract? If you could, everyone would "change their address" to leave contracts early and get new phones!

Leve this site to real problems goose ...
31 Dec 2010 01:00:32 AM: And stop using you have an injury and you are on a pension for sympathy. I only have one leg and one arm, doesnt mean that I should get special privileges regarding contracts because of this.

6137 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major Fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:23:59 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years now but always on pre-paid until recently. When I got my new mobile on a contract I had problems with the phone not connecting to the computer to be able to update the software and was told by vodafone there was nothing that could be done as it was obviously a phone error.

Have recently returned from overseas but had my plan set up for roaming while away. While awau I received between 2 - 6 messages a day from vodafone to tell me I was in the UK. Approximatly 30 messages in total. Since being home my coverage has been really poor. Reception dropping in and out while sitting in my lounge room (have never had a problem here before now), loosing my 3G and not getting voicemail messages till the next day.

Am really disappointed that vodafone has become so un-reliable as have never had a problem with them in the past.

I have been with vodafone for over 10 years and have only started experiencing issues over the last 2-3 years. My phone drops out, we constantly have connection errors when it finally does call, and text and voicemail messages can come up to 3 days after the fact. Not good when we are trying to run a business!

6130 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Criminal! at 28 Dec 2010 08:20:44 AM
I have been with Vodafone for approx. 6 months living in Sydney, the reception wasn't great and there where a lot of dropped calls. It was frustrating but bearable. I have now moved to Woody Point in QLD and the reception is beyond ridiculous!! NOTE THAT WOODY POINT IS NOT IN THE COUNTRY OR WHOOP WHOOP.... IT IS IN REDCLIFFE 30KM NORTH OF THE BRISBANE CBD IN A VERY BUILT UP AREA.

I have a problem with about 80% to 90% of calls. If I am lucky enough for a call to connect the reception frequently dropps out and I need to confirm what has been said.

Ofter my phone will show me 2-4 bars but when I try and call the phone simply won't connect AT ALL!! I then need to put the phone into flight mode, then back so it re-connects to the network and then it will connect.. but not always.

Often the phone shows as being connected to the network but no calls and sms come through. Callers go straight to voicemail.

At times SMS's won't send and I have to retry about 3-6 times for successful transmission.

I need my phone for business and this low level of service is just not acceptable. In my apartment the phone is barely usable.

FUNNY THOUGH I ALSO HAVE A VODAFONE MOBILE INTERNET STICK AND IT WORKS FINE!!???!!!! NOT A NETWORK ISSUE???????????????? DATA WORKS BUT VOICE DOESNT!!!!!!???????????? PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!
28 Dec 2010 09:19:14 AM: Dude - sorry to tell you but Redcliffe is lucky to have electricity. I'd support the Governor of Queensland calling out the Army Reserve so we can fence Redcliffe off from the rest of Australia. Maybe we could get the Navy to drag it out to sea?

6124 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is RADIATION. at 28 Dec 2010 08:16:08 AM
Voda is terrible. The reception has gone down the drain. But people also need to think about radiation and how it affects society. Radiation from when you send a message or call someone it tremendous!

If you just put a phone to your ear when you are calling someone, the radiation travels through your body and mainly head which causes brain tumors. What I have done to minimize the radiation travelling through me is I use loudspeaker whenever there is a call coming through.

I thought you could just get a headset and use it whenever a call is coming through. But that is actually worse because the radiation travels through the wire, into your ear (presumably causing a brain tumor).

But now, there is a solution to all of this... there is a type of headset called an 'air-tube'. So you connect this to your phone like any normal headset. But half the wire is electronic and has radiation, but the half coming going into your ear is air along with the sound that travels through the air tube.

That is a good solution, as it has no radiation so you are safe whenever you receive a phone call.

Although, don't leave your phone in your pocket because the radiation travels through it to your body. With some more advanced phones, you can go to settings and profile (Silent, Loud, Normal, Meeting etc.), it then comes up with 'Offline', which means no radiation is going to your phone. But on the downside you can't receive any messages or phone calls.

I think the best thing to do is to turn your phone off as much as possibly, so the radiation doesn't travel through you.

Hope this helps.
28 Dec 2010 08:46:13 AM: It seems Vodabone are doing their best to reduce radiation levels overall!
28 Dec 2010 10:05:52 AM: thats probably why you don't have any reception n00b... Offline mode, great idea

6119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Mobile Internet at 28 Dec 2010 08:12:37 AM
Thought mobile internet plan would be useful to me, signed up for Vodaphone based on price and promised coverage at home in Cairns. After using for a short time realised that service was next to useless, often unable to connect, when connected speed slower than dial up (event though advertised as 'broadband'). I repeatedly complained by phone, at the third party supplier, and in-person at Vodaphone office over a period of six-moths. Eventually, the vodaphone telephone agent agreed that I send my unit back and they would cancel my contract, now with another provider and connectivity and speed far better (event hough not perfect). Vodaphone experience cost time, stress, money on calls/visits to Vodaphone, and visits to internet cafe to send/receive important emails. Never again.

6116 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is vodafone not for business, not for anyone at 28 Dec 2010 08:10:58 AM
I used to work for 3 mobile and then vodafone and I know the network is not up to scratch, everytime I used a vodafone trial service I had no service in most buildings or houses and I stared to get loads of complaints from customers I sold to, if you are a 3 customer vodafone will want you to transfer to vodafone in the next 15 to 24 months as the 3 network is finishing up, my advice is to not ever go to the vodafone network , it is a cheap version of what a proper network should be like and you will have nothing but service issues, optus and telstra are the only proper networks in Australia so try them instead, even when I had a free Vodafone service from my ex employee u always had my own simcard with another carrier as I knew the vodafone one would not work in most places, most employees widely know the vodafone network is not good so I feel for them as they have to sell this bad product to keep their jobs.

THe Storm is a dreadful handset, I really don't know what is worst Blackberry or vodafail, maybe it was the combination. They did replace the handset, but by then I was over it. I took a prepaid next G service with telstra which works EVERYWHERE. I honored my contract but really I paid for getting NOTHING but frustration... Sue Sue sue.

6100 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DISGUISTED! at 28 Dec 2010 08:02:55 AM
Well in total, I have called Vodafone over 5 times, in which all calls lasted atleast half an hour. Firstly the reception on my phone. I am in an area where there is 100% reception, I should be able to use 3G right, however I can only use 2G and there is no cure according to Vodafone Technical Support. I own a blackberry so I use my phone for my business also, and I have actually lost out in profit because people are unable to contact me when i am in this frequent area where there should be reception but isnt. I've got a bill for over $1000, and half of the time, I couldn't even use the phone. I also get random texts that are telling me to pay my bill, when I already have. One day i actually spent 3 hours on the phone to someone, i couldnt even understand that well, who wouldnt let me talk to a supervisor. This is just a glimpse. But as of late Vodafone is a FAIL, and I'm NOT happy!! I'm glad that I'm not the only one in this situation, there really is a problem, and im not going to accept the slight apology from Vodafone Customer service officers as enough anymore!

6091 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is continual wireless internet drop outs, conitnual 'no device' mesgs, mobile explosive phone bills, aggravating system of automatic 'service selection options' when needing assitance or making complaints at 28 Dec 2010 07:57:25 AM
I unfortunately took out a 2 year contract (wireless internet and mobile phone) and regretted it immediately. Having been told I was in an area of very good wireless reception, I found this not to be the case at all. The Nokia phone was a dud and when sent off for checking for poor battery life and heating up, I was told it had water damage! - must be from the Qld atmosphere. When attempting to go on line, more often than not the computer states there is no device. Eventually it is recognised and I get on line, frequently to have the line drop out. This service has been unreliable, which is unsettling when you have deadlines to meet in submitting work online. This has been an atrocious system, and I am glad to say that next month the two year contract is finished and I will be switching to another service provider.

Gave up complaining to Vodafone months ago. My problem is the mobile broadband coverage. I have been with them for nearly 3yrs and funny enough, i am going to the shops today to find another provider. For the past 18mths i barely get access to the net in 3 houses that i have lived in during that time and i am metro Brisbane. Calling them is a nightmare, i either get hung up on or im on hold for an hour. Who has time to sit on a phone calling them for an hour to only have them transfer you through to someone else and then someone else and then get hung up on in between. AARRRGGHHH! Over them completely. I have been a loyal vodafone customer for over 15yrs and once my mobile comes out of contract in 2mths i will be moving to someone else - both my mobile and internet (including my husbands, parents and sisters). Vodafone is now a 3rd rate network. They used to be great but they seem to have lost the plot. They went from atrocious in the early nineties to somewhat reasonable in later years but they seem to have gone back to their old appalling
Ways. Frequent drop-outs, slow internet or no internet. Supposed to be 3G area but phone switches to EDGE or GPRS frequently. On 3G signal is mostly very low - 1 bar on signal meter. Contacting customer service is torturous. This is a Brisbane inner north suburb in close proximity to the airport.

I was originally with 3 and then it got taken over by Vodafone and this was the time I renewed my contract for two years. Since renewing with 3 under the Vodafone header and products I had consistent call drop outs. I could literally have my phone sitting on a table in front of me and watch the bar signals go up and down and then the call would drop out. This was consistent! At the time 3 Vodafone told me I am in a good coverage area. December 2010 I went in to look at finding a new plan to discover that I was now living in a bad coverage area... To this fact I found out that Vodafone was not going to be improving its 3 products anymore thus the coverage was only going to get worse. To this I discovered that they were going to 'migrate' me over to Vodafone in two days time without me knowing! Furthermore, if I wanted to do it that day before my next billing cycle they were going to charge me $45 flat rate for the 2 days + another $45 to have payments in advance + my $45 cap for that month. I could had avoided those fees if I waited 2 days and went in on my time whilst I should be at work or I would had been migrated over on the current plan with no fees. I had been a 3 Vodafone customer for 7 years and I asked them to give me a reason to stay with them.... they replied with, why should you leave? Optus won me over... 3 Vodafone then tried to stop me going to Optus by only discharging me from their network after 2 business days - if they waited a few more hours they would had charged me an extra $69 as it would had entered my new billing period! NEVER going 3 Vodafone AGAIN!

6055 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not real good for coverage at 28 Dec 2010 07:44:57 AM
We live just North of Maryborough and the reception here is very marginal. Sometimes we have one bar of reception outside the house in selected areas around the house, but nothing inside the house. Try to carry on a conversation and it's subject to poor quality reception and dropped calls. If it's raining, forget about it totally, there is no reception.

We ended up having to get a Virgin Mobile phone (which uses the Optus Network) just to receive calls at home. Even with the Virgin Mobile, the phone only works outside the house, so this is a real telecommunications black spot here.

However, on the plus side of things, we have five mobile phones with Vodafone and we are on the 365 day value bundle, so we only recharge once a year with $20 or $30 and we can ring each other for free using Vodafone minutes. We don't make that many outside calls and it's mainly for family contact that we have the Vodafone phones. We can still usually get text messages through at times when the reception comes on. The signal switches between about three towers as we are at the fringe reception of the three.

Has anyone ever heard of Ogmore? It is a small community around 17 km off the highway about two hours North of Rockhampton with a population of around 20 - 30 people. Funny thing is that the only decent mobile phone reception there is with Vodafone and my daughter's brand new phone works fantastically there, but it won't work at all here at home. Our Virgin Mobile phone on the Optus Network won't work at all at Ogmore and our friend's Telstra mobile is about as useful there as our Vodafone Mobile is here.

We'd be really happy with Vodafone if we had decent reception here. We usually deal with the store in Hervey Bay and find the staff to be friendly and polite.

Please Vodafone, put in another tower to cover this black spot and we'll be very happy.

Went into a Vodafone store at Chermside and the girl told me I should call the tech department to see about cancelling the service. Went through the usual with the guy who then transferred me.... to a closed department.

I never got even decent 3G coverage - I catch a train from the city to Strathpine and I can't even load a webpage between Northgate and Strathpine station, which is about 15 minutes!

In total I made over 12-13 phone calls to customer care in 3 days... Due to a high number of dropped calls I got to talk to a few operators. Their excuses ranged from something being wrong with my phone to their company merging and that I should understand this because I run a business!!!

Question is does my customer understand that they can't contact me because Vodafone is merging?!

Needless to say Vodafone is still direct debiting my account every month, at will!

Reasons for my frustration: Phone calls dropping, people complaining that they can't reach me, slow internet speed on my mobile broadband and endless wait on customer service. Once you do get through, you find your self talking to a person who apears not to care or not understand what you are talking about.

To start with vadafail took over 4 weeks to courier out the usb modem which the website said would be delivered overnight, after 2 useless attempts of phone calls to their service number and 2 emails I finally received my usb modem (they said it was a computer order error).
NOW, in South East Queensland (Brisbane, Ipswich and Gold Coast) I often have DNS errors which make my vodafail broadband service not work at all, it normally self corrects within 24 hrs (too bad if I need the service up and running at the time). According to several IT websites/forums vodafail have been aware of this DNS problem since the inception of their mobile broadband service...

Let's pay their CEO a $20million bonus for doing nothing except offering 'politically correct' apologies, as I would much prefer a well worded apology then having the service I paid for.

OMG I thought It was just me, or my crap computer... I signed up for a Mobile Internet Plan last Easter, chosing Vodaphone because they had the best prices. I was going away for a week and I needed mobile internet to continue to work during that week. I was assured that I would have 3g coverage in the area I was going to in country Victoria, in a rural city.
This was not the case and after a few days when I finally got some coverage it was so slow I gave up and used a dial up internet.
But hey it was just a week, I would be back in Brisbane soon and then I figured it would still come in handy.
FAIL. I live in Northgate, close the the Brisbane Airport and only 10km from the Brisbane city center. On the intermittent occasions I do get reception it is only 1 bar and it is often just 2g network which is slower than a dial up connection.
I still have a few months left on the contract, I didn't think there was anything I could do and it's only a $30 a month plan. I had a small moment of victory when I went into the shop I bought it from to complain and told every customer in that store that the reception is horrible so don't do it :D
It makes me happy to find this site
Thank you and good luck with the class action to those involved.

I have been having network coverage issues for over 4 months now. It doe not matter where I am -I am without coverage 99% of the time. My text messages and voice mail messages are delayed sometimes by over 24hours.
My mobile is so important to me as I have a young daughter and I also atend dialysis daily. So many times the nursing staff have tried to conatct me on my mobile and it goes straight to message bank -and I do not recieve the message in time. While I am on dialysis my daughter attends vacation care, what if they needed to conatct me .....they cannot reach me because I have no network coverage. My mobile phone is also important as I could recieve the most important phone call ever to say they have a new kidney for me. So as you can see my mobile is so necessary for me.
I have rang Vodafone numerous times, many times I have had to hang up after waiting on hold for over 40mins. When I do speak to an operator they tell me me to -restore factory settings and select manual (under settings/network)and they say this should fix the problem, if not ring back in 24 hours. I ring back in 24 hours and they want to do exactly the same fix that we did yesterday. I try to tell them that we did this yesterday -so then they tell me to swap sim cards over and it could be the phone that is the problem not Vodafone.I have asked about exiting my contract early without a fee and they will not do it.....I am realy desperate. Any help would be great.

5978 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is grrrrr at 28 Dec 2010 07:06:48 AM
I have been with 3 for years and was told Voda and 3 were basically one and the same so went with a better off through Vodafone. Well ...

messaging taking 24 plus hours to be delivered.

I have been billed for my last month and cant access my billing invoice to see what I have been charged for. My bill is also higher than expected, I cant see a reason, but cant see my physical bill or usage to confirm.

Customer service is non existant. (hours on hold) (lack of help)

BUT if you want to change your plan or get something new, there is someone there to help.

5976 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Coverage at 28 Dec 2010 07:05:51 AM
I am sick and tired of not having any coverage in Northern NSW, I live in Brisbane and travel frequently into nortern NSW (Lismore & surrounding areas) and i am sick of being in Emergency service or no service. I have family that live just out of town (10mins) and the coverage is gone withing 2 mins of leaving the CBD. All my other family members are with other carriers and they have half to full reception. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER VODAFONE!!!!!!!!!! I will not be staying with this carrier once my plan has expired unless drastic measure are taken to solve this issue!!! Even in Brisbane where coverage is somewhat acceptable i have experienced up to 12hrs for texts to go and receive, calls constantly dropping out and packet data painfully slow.

5973 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible at 28 Dec 2010 07:04:58 AM
Coming from 3 onto Vodafone, I expected to receive the same coverage in Brisbane as I received on 3 with the bonus of getting reception outside the city as I travel to rural areas frequently.

I did not expect to receive no recpetion whatsoever at my workplace in Chapel Hill, or have mobile internet so slow, that every thing I try to use on my iPhone 4 just times out. Even at home when standing in the same spot, my reception goes from 3 bars of 3G, to no 3G as soon as I try to access something.

I can't believe when you sign up, they tell you everywhere is covered. CRAP!

5968 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:02:04 AM
I have heard from another Telco employee everytime the telecommunication obudsman has to get involved in a complant, the company gets charged $200. Does anyone know if this is true??????

If everyone here complained to the Obudsman and kept complaining that is a lot of money Vodafone has to fork out. Does anyone know anything about this??????
28 Dec 2010 07:08:31 AM: Only by word of mouth - I heard it was $100 each time and apparently $500 if there has to be written correspondence, but do not take my word for it!!!
Agree though, it would be a lot of dosh and probably more important loss of reputation to Vodafone - but it may go some way to getting out of contracts and forcing Vodafone to do something about their major problems for their customers.
28 Dec 2010 07:13:59 AM: Not only are there increasing levels of fines as the issue is escalated, but Vodafone will have to pay a portion of the TIO's operating costs proportionate to their volume of complaints. Do a quick search of the TIO website for this info.

Hit the bastards where it hurts!

I live in Cairns & the reception is so poor that everyone in the street has to go outside to make calls which than fail. My daughter & myself are vodaphone & husband Telstra we could not ring his number as it was blocked, I rang Vodaphone whom blamed Telstra & mind you I waited near to an hour to speak to someone from Vodaphone, I rang Teltrsa & got someone straight away & they said it was Vodaphone,we dont receive Text Messages till days later. Our unused credit is supposed to roll over which never does, they just rip you off. Changing service providers after the holidays, we have had enough!

5959 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Deteriorating quickly! at 28 Dec 2010 07:00:30 AM
I have been with Vodafone for 10 years and noticed over the last 12 months a serious deterioration in their otherwise poor performance. It is now normal for an average 3 attempts to finish a short conversation with constant failures... dropouts, failed audio, or just zero reception. Can someone explain why reception at my hilltop Bridgeman Downs home fluctuates so extremely????

5950 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ULTRAFAIL!! BEYOND FAIL! at 28 Dec 2010 06:52:42 AM
Does NOBODY ELSE understand that Vodafone is taking money under false pretenses? When you offer a service for money, you have to PROVIDE that service... or you DON'T DESERVE the money! You CAN'T take money for services you DON'T PROVIDE! The ACCC should be looking carefully into Vodafone's alleged 'services'. They should be closed down and liquidated immediately. They are FRAUDS, CHARLATANS, THIEVES, CONFIDENCE MEN, GANGSTERS, TRICKSTERS AND LIARS! Where there's SMOKE... there's FIRE. All these complaints show a valid area of public concern and if the GOVERNMENT doesn't act to preserve its citizens RIGHTS... well we need a new government that CAN!

5939 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extreme at 28 Dec 2010 06:48:25 AM
Signed up to a good deal on a 24 month contract. Was promised great reception at Hervey Bay QLD (populated tourist area) Dropped calls bad reception in 90% of Hervey Bay. Phone squealing in my ear with error. Phone disconnects all the time. Impossible to get through to customer service. Bad phone and the short of it is. I am tied into a 24 month plan I can't even use my phone at all. Most the time it wont even let me send a text from an area I was promised good reception. I defiantly checked the reception on there website before entering into the contract.
28 Dec 2010 06:51:16 AM: Also I got a vodem stick and that was an absolute waste of time. I have changed to Optus and counted my losses with that months 8GB of data with vodafone I cant use. Optus is mint. Gutted I didnt go with them for everything.

5936 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is beyond acceptable at 28 Dec 2010 06:46:27 AM
I signed up for Vodafone mobile broadband internet in 2009. Despite Vodafone advertising that they had 3G reception in the areas I used it, the reception was so poor, and the experience so frustrating, that I recently switched to Telstra even though I knew I would still have to pay off my Vodafone plan. After switching to Telstra I was shocked: I had no idea mobile broadband could be so fast and reliable.

In fact, it pissed me off so much I have signed up for the Piper Alderman class action after just hearing about it on ABC News Breakfast. Check it out here: http://www.piperalderman.com.au/vf/

5931 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is Pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 06:43:58 AM
We have been with Vodafone for years and now I think about the service and reception has always been a problem. I will be at work waiting for staff to get back to me about replacing shifts and my phone coverage will just drop out. hours later i realise when it comes back because the phone doesnt stop ringing with messages and emails. It is even worse in the rain as soon as it rains don't expect any reception. The year we had floods i tried to call my BF (who is with Vodafone as well) with an emergency and could not get through because their is no coverage in crap weather. Lucky his parents mobiles are Telstra which worked fine. not to mention we have been trying to upgrade our pathetic phones for a couple of months now because they no longer work and we had to wait until exactly 3 months left to do so without paying out a contract. They would not even let us upgrade one week before when i went in and showed them how bad my phone was (I can't even see who calls me anymore). We have decided enough is enough with vodafone and we are in the process of changing to Telstra and getting out of our contracts. You might pay more with Telstra but at least if you have an emergency you can count on their reception. So frustrated 6 years with this company and they have gotten worse every year and no one ever wants to help :(

5922 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 06:38:21 AM
I am a Vodafone Prepaid Mobile Broadband customer of over 5 months and the data drop outs are incredible. How a telco is allowed to remain in business with such a crappy service is unbelievable! The annoying part is that I get full signal strength, but am continually dropped out as soon as my modem goes idle - which is really great when your in the middle of paying a bill or internet banking. GREAT WORK VODAFONE !!!

5920 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is awfail but consistent at 28 Dec 2010 06:37:18 AM
I've been a Vodafone customer for awhile but endured the incredibly poor reception because the 'big' telco ahd annoyed me so I switched. I thought the poor reception and dropping out was due to me living in Darwin, but believed I would be rewarded with crystal clear and prompt everything when I moved to Queensland. No dice. If I'm in a building? fat chance of making a call....Now I'm just waiting for my plan to run down so i can switch to Optus.

5918 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely sad at 28 Dec 2010 06:36:53 AM
i have been a vodafone customer since 2000, and just six months ago i received a call for an upgrade to a iphone and a 24months contract, since then the problem started and i wish i didnt.I have call them alot off times to discuss the problem but nothing gets resolve at the end of the calls.
The first two months into my contract i was hit hard with $$$$ and it never stop there, everymonth it goes up.
I signed up for $79. but i get charged more than that, for some crazy recent, i have given up calling them....
Extremly poor reception text sent late and arrives late and i am to scared to use my phone for anything else because i am already paying to much for just using it for text and phone call so if i try to go online and mms how much more will it cost me and i have no idea why and im now locked in with this contract that i got coned into, which im not happy about.
even though i get crap reception i still pay my bill ontime because i am to scared they might put extra $$$$$s ontop of it again.
before i make a call overseas i check my balance to see how much is there and time myself, i feel as if im a victim to myself?
I feel that they are only interested in getting the money every month and dont care what the customer says and or feels?
please so something about it..

My boyfriend is with Vodafone [I'm with Telstra] and he receives some texts but won't receive others. His 3G drops out all the time AND he was getting $20 a month worth of 19 number texts which he never made.

Vodafone you definitely fail.

5912 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is enormous fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:34:23 AM
The question was asked when signing up "I have heard about bad signal/coverage with Vodafone and has this improved?" The reply was "YES". I can assure any new customers of Vodafone that this is not the case. The phone was purchased from Vodafone for our teenage daughter so that she could contact us in an emergency and vice versa, she is not even able to get a signal in her own home. We live in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Myself and my husband have our mobile phones with Telstra and have NEVER EVER had signal problems.
