Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

VODAFONE ALSO KINDLY SWITCHED MY SERVICE OFF FOR 2 DAYS AND BARRED ALL CALLS AND TEXTXS...THEY WERE UNABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY OTHER THAN "MAYBE I HAVE SOME IDEAS AS TO WHY WE HAVE SWITCHED OFF YOUR SERVICE" WELL, AFTER COUNTLESS HOURS ON HOLD TO AN INDIAN CALL CENTRE, OBVIOUSLY BLOODY NOT OTHER I WOULDNT HAVE PHONED YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE

14652 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely disgraceful at 25 Jan 2011 10:31:30 PM
Been with vodafone for many years. Since July, my partners phone broke and the Vodafone worker said that it was her fault that she had it near an air con vent in the car and it got water damaged (WTF?), and the coverage has been disgraceful. Full service one minute, no service the next. Have missed many phone calls (even tho in full service) and delayed text messages and am sick of putting up with the bulls**t. I've tried calling customer service to which my calls either cut out or am just given that i've reached the wrong department and to try later or during business hours (when i work). We both want out of our contracts!
25 Jan 2011 10:35:35 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page, you will no doubt end up going to the TIO, but follow all of the steps along the way. Such as complaining to Vodafone first (keep records of those conversations as the mor info you can provide the TIO, the better you have of getting what you want).

Best Of Luck :)

Terrible service everywhere! I drop out at least 7 or 8 times on the Ipswich line every day. I barely see any bars out in Redbank, which is only about 40 minutes drive from the CBD. I thought this was how it was for everyone, but then I realised.. It's just vodafail!

14616 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Done over twice! at 25 Jan 2011 02:53:41 PM
I shouldn't even be in this mess!! I was happily with 3 for two phones and my mobile broadband. Then about two months ago I get a phone call from a Vodafone sales person telling me that my mobile broadband contract with 3 was running out and that I needed to sign up with Vodafone because 3 will be disappearing - HOW DID SOMEONE FROM VODAFONE KNOW THAT MY CONTRACT WAS UP - PRIVACY BREACH!!!. So, being the gullible sucker that I am, I agreed. Now I am suffering in hell as my mobile broadband as active only about 10 percent of the time and I cannot send emails. I rang the technical support people and they promised to call me back with an answer within half an hour - three days ago!
25 Jan 2011 05:36:33 PM: It's not a privacy breach, 3 merged with vodafone a while they share the same database
29 Jan 2011 08:54:24 PM: It most def is NOT a breach....
2 Feb 2011 07:37:52 PM: "HOW DID SOMEONE FROM VODAFONE KNOW THAT MY CONTRACT WAS UP - PRIVACY BREACH!!"

14607 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Defies belief a modern day company can operate like this at 25 Jan 2011 02:14:30 PM
Returned my HTC Desire HD to the Vodafone store where it was
purchased on 8/12/10. The reason for the return was the phone was unable to
Bluetooth correctly - it could not remain tethered to a Navman (other phones
we have had no problem). The battery would last approximately five hours
before being flat, and the phone would freeze for lengthy periods of time
when you tried to use applications. There was no particular application
that would cause the problem - any application was capable of causing the
issue. When purchasing the phone we were told that it would need to be
returned within 30 days if there were any problems. When we arrived at the
shop we were told that it was 28 days and we were one day too late. I also
was concerned as the phone did not appear to be correctly connected to the
infinite plan ( staff had signed to SIM only plan) and we had to resign a new plan today (7/1) for the phone to be sent away for repairs. I have been informed that this may take up to six weeks. I am not at all happy with the service we have received so far - too many mistakes and no real service, the staff at the store were very friendly but I was particularly disappointed at the phone not being replaced as we had been initially informed.
I have so far emailed Customer Care centre three times and am still waiting
for a response; obviously NO Care would be more appropriate caption for their
support services. Apart from a computer generated response did not recieve a
response that actually indicates a human being has read our concerns, ideally I would like a complete refund as I no longer want to be
linked to a company that provides such services, if this is not possible at
the very least a new replacement phone as the original is obviously a lemon.
If a staff member tells you some info related to the plan or phone GET it in writing or record it (ask them first). After several hours we did manage to get access to a person who said the phone should be replaced but nowhere is this information stored for staff at the variuos stores to access and act upon. Remember what ever comes out of their mouths is useless unless in writing.
One final issue is the 28 day return to store policy from day of purchase - no where is it written in your signed contract that it is 28 days, info is given verbally only by staff, we were told 30 days by the sales person the day of purchase. GO Telstra or Optus.
28 Jan 2011 09:47:31 PM: Sh*t happens when the repair centre get's flooded and they have to send it interstate.

14600 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I am sure they put you on hold and then have a break? at 25 Jan 2011 01:34:46 PM
Phone keeps dropping out, unable to send or receive text messages, unable to access internet, continually slow data transfer.

I have been a vodafone customer for 3 years. Around 2 months ago I started to experience continual problems with my and my partners phone, and our internet access whilst in our home which is close to Brisbane CBD. In November 2010 I complained to vodafone after a 24 hour period were we had no internet or phone coverage at all. After an hour on the phone I was told someone would call me back, which they did a couple of days later leaving a voice message that I could not understand. The problems have continued since that time and again I called vodafone to complain. After speaking with a completely useless phone operator who said the technicians had confirmed there were no problems with coverage in my area so there was nothing they could do I responded by saying there was something I could do, which was join the class action against them and complain to the ombudsmann. I also said I wanted to cancel my contract (at no cost to me). I was then told that a supervisor would call me back to discuss cancelling my contract. Suprisingly someone did call me back, and after repeating the same information and being asked the same useless questions such as are you sure it is not your handset (given it happens to 2 phones and the internet at the same time) was informed.......Yes there was a problem and it started 3 months ago when Vodafone took over 3. It had to do with the towers and they are attempting to fix this problem and hope that services will be working fine in around 2 months. They then offered to waive the monthly fees on both phones for the next 3 months ($150 per month) and if it was not fixed by the end of this period to call them back and discuss this further. For me this was a satisfactory outcome.

So you can sign contracts in the store? But when it comes to cancelling due to dissatisfaction, you have to call (and be put on hold for HOURS) 1555?

I just called up 1555 on my mobile to complain and cancel my contract due to really shitty reception (btw, I live on a HILL). And ironically enough, I spent 1 minute talking to the man from vodafone...AND MY CALL DROPPED OUT!!!!

I am writing this letter of complaint as I cannot seem to get through to their call centre and when I get close my phone drops out of service!!!!!!!

My son was almost trapped at his day care due to the floods in queensland and the day care staff being unable to contact me - not acceptable.

Not to mention the voicemail (business related and private) messages that have 'slipped through' because vodafone cannot get it together.

Throw on top of that 2 weeks whilst I was in Tasmania TRYING to finalise some of my wedding details and I HAVE NO SERVICE on the whole of TASMANIA!

25 Jan 2011 12:04:10 PM: son almost trapped at daycare due to vodafones poor coverage is a news story worth of itself. Thats ridiculuos! Im sorry to hear stories such as this this is a true complaint and a good example of Vodafone neglect
28 Jan 2011 09:48:52 PM: If you look at the coverage maps you'll see Tasmania has limited coverage and if you are on a plan you can roam on to Telstra.

Crap data speeds, virtually no 3G coverage in SW Brisbane, delayed messages, Delayed voicemail, dropped calls, failed text messages. I waiting 90 minutes on hold to customer care, operator answered then call dropped, like they hung up on me. Complaint now lodged with TIO as i think 90 minutes on the phone to only be disconnected is a fair and reasonable attempt to fix my problems. How come when Lara asks "is it for the number your calling on?" they cant identify my number and call me back?? Fail cant wait to get out of there

14569 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A joke! at 25 Jan 2011 10:56:14 AM
I've figured out why I can't stand calling Vodafone. It just took me 8mins of actual conversation (not including voice prompts and security checks) with a lady JUST to change my email address and postal address. No lie! Repeating myself over and over because they can't understand my Australian accent and I can't understand theirs. It makes it so much harder to resolve an issue - even as simple as a change of details - when your call-staff are somewhat difficult to understand. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this, maybe not! But it's very frustrating!! I would go on my online account to update details, except I am unable to access it due to not knowing my password. Nor can I get access to any of the new passwords that Vodafone staff are sending me. VODAFONE FAIL.

14560 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Completely at 25 Jan 2011 10:35:40 AM
I have been with Vodafone for a number of years and have experienced illegitimate phone bills, constant disconnection of phone calls, limited reception and poor assistance from staff.

I spent 40 minutes on hold to speak to a customer service operator, when I told them my problem they then requested to transfer me to someone more appropriate and simply hung up on me. 40 minutes wasted.

There is no point trying to get help from a staff member because their stores are already full of other unhappy customers.

I currently own the Iphone 4 and am instantly regretting extending my phone with Vodafone. Close to every phone call I make is disconnected half way through due to what I assume is poor reception. No matter my location, I have one or two bars of reception. I do not receive messages, my phone rings out and doesn't display a missed call, and most of the time it connects straight to message bank.

Recently I've had two people tell me my phone has been disconnected when they have tried to contact me.

14502 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unmitigated failure at 24 Jan 2011 07:23:24 PM
Where to start? I started to notice difficulties mid to late 2010 after being a loyal Vodaphone customer for almost two years, never late in paying my bill, regular user etc. Increasingly discovered that people were unable to get through to me, and that they'd not been offered the opportunity to leave any kind of message. Then I started to receive voice messages which indicated that someone had called while my phone was sitting right next to me indicating full signal, no missed call in the log, nothing besides the message to retrieve a voicemail (which of course we have to pay for). I call to ge the message and what do you know, there's more messages on there from up to a week ago that I've had absolutely no notification of - no ring, no 'missed call', no voicemail notification. Then, a massive (over $1400!!!) phone bill for internet usage, when I rarely use the internet, and only for google maps etc certainly not for downloading things but it's claiming I've downloaded 4.5gb over about 12 hours - my phone woudn't even have stayed on for that amount of time, I'd have had to recharge if I was doing anything that resource-heavy !!! Then I went through my bills with a fine-tooth comb and noticed bizarre charges, like one for EXACTLY one hour (1:00:00) almost every date for a couple of kB - what could that possibly be? I have Advanced AppKiller installed and now APNdroid, but I'm not surprised that I'm still charged for internet usage when the Vodaphone TIO resolution officer I spoke to claimed that the phone could continue to download data even when turned off. Really, I asked sarcastically, and with the battery removed too I guess? Oh no, he replied, because you see the power comes from the battery, it's like a little computer.

After not receiving calls, incoming calls failing to ring or notify messages, delays in receiving messages, frankly impossible charges and blatantly incorrect advice from Vodaphone, I am not prepared to accept condescendion or rudeness from 'resolution' staff. I've had enough, I want out of the contract and I never want anything to do with such a irresponsible, arrogant, useless company again.
24 Jan 2011 07:31:27 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page, you will no doubt end up going to the TIO, but follow all of the steps along the way. Best Of Luck :)
25 Jan 2011 07:47:29 AM: Given the current state of the Voda network I am astounded anyone could rack up a $1400 data charge in a month (whether it was intentional or not).
25 Jan 2011 12:34:37 PM: I wouldnt be suprised if your couple of KB every hour was an app like facebook syncing. Check that you dont have any applications set to auto sync every hour. Like your email, facebook etc.

crap service - cant get any reception in my house at all!

complained to TIO in december and released from contract just days before xmas (YAY) but now cant get my final bill sorted so i can change to a functional telco. been on the phone today with 5 different people (2 put me on hold when they couldnt figure out why i had been incorrectly charged $163.62 for a "TIO Settlement"???) and one just thought it was all too hard and hung up on me.

so, now i am trying to get my CREDIT! it shouldnt take 5 staff and more than 3hrs of combined calls to get this resolved!!!

if all goes well, i'll be a telstra customer this time tomorrow (and i never thought I would say THAT)!

14476 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very! at 24 Jan 2011 04:40:17 PM
End of last year, my sms's were being sent multiple times, 8 or more sometimes, and when I tried to ring the customer service, and speak to a human to rectify my dilemma.. after waiting over an hour from my land line phone, I gave up, and made a complain to the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

After a few days, someone from Vodafone eventually rang me, knowing I had made a complaint to the Ombudsman, and offered me free credit for my pain.. which was nice, until it ran out.

I went to recharge my credit, using the same credit card I had used for the past year, and it said I had no card registered? Ok, so I jumped online tried to register my card.. I entered all the details in, and it came up with some error, and to try calling 1555. So, after waiting over a year last year, I had hoped that they may answer sooner from the mobile on their network.. :( No.. I was on hold for over an hour and a half this time.. The call started at home, I packed up my gear, walked to the bus stop, was on the bus over 50 mins, and eventually lost the signal when the bus went into the underground bus station.. Quietly I think it would not have answered even if I had been there for 3 or 4 hours.. anyways. It kept sporadically telling me.. " Hang in there. We';ll be with you really soon" ... really soon??? Compared to what?

I have been unable to make calls/send text messages from my mobile for over a week and a half. I have no idea what happened to my credit card information, but I know they DID have it prior to November 2010, as I had used it to recharge ever since I'd been with Vodafone, and the card details are fine as I use it daily for my grocery shopping etc.

I have given up on Vodafone and think I'll give Virgin Mobile a go?

Vodafone Customer service 0/10 :( FAIL!

I am a current 3 user and am very worried about the reports that we will be forced over to Vodafone soon.... Considering http://www.three.com.au/cs/ContentServer?c=Page&pagename=Three%2FPage%2FThreeLayout&cid=1236150599184 still says that you don't have to move over but still use 3 services worries me even more.

Vodafone, get your sh!t together before I am finally forced onto your network or I and my partner will drop our dealings with you and move to Optus or Virgin (won't go near Telstra as they are nearly as bad)
24 Jan 2011 04:25:51 PM: I guess that is your choice to make, but FYI, Telstra's NextG network is the best network for performance and coverage in Aus. However Optus' network would be in second place, so you should be fine there as well.

14426 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is a complete FAIL. at 24 Jan 2011 11:35:53 AM
I knew years ago from experience with a 12 month contract with Vodafone; so unfortunately I learnt first hand / the hard way at how terrible their coverage was. Not just that, the terms in the contract were rediculous... ie. off peak / on peak, so called "special rates" & their classic vodafone to vodafone calls where it doesn't cost much ... anyway, the only reason I signed up was due to their coverage claim, in that it appeared to be better then Telstras!!?? Remember that TV advertisement with Kramer in it... yeah, well say no more...

anyway, that was a few years ago, & ever since I have not been back or recommended them to anybody... there is no real need to "bag" them so to speak, as all one needs to do is give people the facts, that their coverage is pathetic.

what has got me staggered however, is that
why people keep whinging & complaining & signing
up with them is a joke ...

everyone by now should know how bad they really are...

if you don't then you've been living on a desert island or under a rock.

Stop signing up with them people...!

When will you learn...

...or, go ahead, sign up with them, & then shoot yourself in the foot ... :-)

Signed up with Vodafone 4 months ago and have had no end of issues beginning with overcharging on the first bill and having to fight to review, which they did not. vodafone also argued with me about bringing my existing pre-pay number to the account, of which I also had to fight to keep my excisting number.
This is on top of initially not being able to get internet access and havingmy phone drop off during calls and having no recption even though live in middle of city.
vodafone has been nothing but painful and I still have shy of 1.5years left of contract.

After like 2 hours in the vodafone store. (funny story, they couldn't solve my issue so they made me call 1555 in the store), they finally agreed to replace my handset for another one.

But the handsets they've allowed me to replace for are like not even half as good as the handset I originally had!

I first had two awesome HTC's but one failed, so after weeks of going back and forth and complaining they FINALLY replaced it with a different HTC model which IMO was much worse than my first one, now they are offering me phones that are not even on the same level as the phone I originally got.

Is there any way to cancel my contract with no cancellation fees and be done with it?
24 Jan 2011 11:10:17 AM: Join the class action?

But otherwise it is difficult to get out due to poor hardware issues. The TIO would not be able to help you there as Vodafone are (believe it or not) actually following TIO policy.

I have been on holidays in Bentley Park (QLD) for about a week and a half and my mobile has been showing 'no service' for all that time!!!
NO SERVICE AT ALL!!! not even roaming nothing... I thought 3 and vodafone were now the same network, but my partner is on 3 and we are now relying on her mobile :(
Bentley Park (QLD) shows full coverage on Vodafone's website... what a joke!!
Dave
24 Jan 2011 10:46:58 AM: If someone told you that 3 and Vodafone use the same network you should fully complain. Vodafone's coverage is unchanged since the merger (i.e. still uses the Joint Venture 2100 network in the Citys and thier own "Nationwide" network as well as thier own GSM network). 3 on the other hand have the option of using thier own 3G network, the Vodafone GSM network, Telstra GSM network, Telstra Next G network. (Obviously it depends on the handset if it can access all these networks) So this would explain why you are getting better coverage with 3. Such a shame the 3 network is shutting down and Vodafail are forcing everyone across to Voda.

My reception has been messing up as much as my WiFi.

I went downstairs, and I had no reception, 2 minutes later, I have full reception......now no reception again.

I would go to vodafone, but I'm worried that the reception would go up again, and like my wifi issue they'll probably just say they can't do anything because it's working "now"

What should I do?

I was with three that merged with Vodafone. Told phone would work where i moved to what a load of shot both internet and phone not working. Could not find any reception until i was in brisbane 20 minutes away.5 hours of phone comversation with indians who told me nothing wrong but could switch me to vodafone. Went to ombusmen in the end as to get out of contract would cost me $400 dollars. Thats bullshit no customer service told that since vodafone had taken them on they could do nothing at the frontline.

14373 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 24 Jan 2011 06:41:32 AM
We had a third party company by the name of Mobycom call us without permission on behalf of Vodafone, the salesman came over to our house, made us offers we couldn't refuse and then got us to sign this form telling us it was an application form to see if we qualify for the offer. I asked the salesman to email the offer to me so I had it in writing and then we will go ahead with it, when he did, it was not what we had discussed, then a box of phones along with invoices turn up on our doorstep. We tried several times to contact the salesman for Mobycom but no one returned our calls, then we were told he was on holidays, the business card that was given to us to contact them if we had any queries had a disconnected number and there was no Mobycom business at the address on the B/C. We finally got hold of the customer service manager for Mobycom and he told us we were under contract and we couldn't do anything about it. He was very rude and abrupt. He was not very helpful so we took the phones and the paperwork to the nearest Vodafone store and explained our situation to the sales staff there. They told us that they get complaints from Mobycom customers all the time and that our paper was the worst they have ever seen, not filled out correctly and that it was invalid. They put us onto the state customer service manager for Vodafone and she promised us that this will get solved. It is going onto to more than 3 months now and after several emails, nothing has been done, instead we are getting bills from Vodafone for 8 phone numbers we don't even have and final warning letters saying that it is going to affect our credit rating. We have never had a contract or phone with Vodafone to make such calls but we are getting bills and final warning letters from them. We are with Optus and will never go with Vodafone. Can you help us or give us advise on what we should do?
24 Jan 2011 07:12:21 AM: EEEeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not bugger about anymore with this one go direct to TIO, the contact details are in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

I presume you have kept all the paperwork, you should be OK, just don't delay, get in touch now ------>>>>> TIO!!
2 Feb 2011 07:37:25 AM: That's kind of your fault really...I mean sure vodafone hasn't really done anything about it but come on a random salesman 'speaking' on behalf of vodafone? What if I came over and said I was speaking on behalf of Telstra
11 Feb 2011 11:51:36 AM: Mobycom have misrepresented their great offer to me - offering to payout my existing contracts with Optus (nearly $1000) then when I changed over to Vodafone they said they could not payout existing contracts as it was illegal but suggested I pay and they would credit my future accounts with Vodafone, four months down the track they have not done this, I have made countless call, emails etc to Mobycom but they are never there and if I do speak with someone they say they will look into it and never ring back. I have contacted Vodafone who have said on one occasion they would apply the credit and now they say they wont!! Do not every deal with Mobycom!!!

I went on a vodafone $79 a month plan and recieved a Nokia N97 handset which the vodafone customer service rep highly recommended. My reception was either non existent or extremely low which was strange considering I was living in Bardon, 5kms from the CBD of Brisbane. Also the handset was appauling in function and frequently lagged or dropped out. My workplace has issued me with a HTC desire HD handset with Telstra. The reception is flawless, data is much faster and the handset is fantastic. Only problem is Im still stuck on a plan with Vodafone for another year. Wondering if I can join the class action still or not????

14325 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ..... at 23 Jan 2011 03:50:20 PM
I was in the Vodafone store today trying to get my phone replaced or exchanged. They told me because this phone had already been exchanged once, they couldn't do anything and I'd have to call up 1555.
I said if they can't fix it I'd want to cancel my contract (WITHOUT cancellation fees as they are not providing me with the quality phone I paid for.)
They once again told me to call 1555.

I called 1555, I spent 1 hour and a half on the phone, got switched to 4 different departments, and FINALLY a guy told me I had to go into the store, and talk to them from there, if nothing could be done I'd have to call 1555 from the store and let the customer reps speak with the people in the department....

I've had one of my phones sent off to repair 3 times, they couldn't fix it, they gave me a new/different one. That one was faulty out of the box, they exchanged it, and now they are refusing to do more because this one is faulty too. It's not MY fault they gave my shitty quality phones.
Now I'm going back to Vodafone AGAIN tomorrow (in the past two months I've probably been there over 20 times).
The customer service reps have absolutely no knowledge about the phones, and they have the WORST attitudes I have EVER seen. I find it ironic, people complain about the overseas call centres...but I'd say the people I talked to at the call centre were alot nicer than the employees at the vodafone store.

Is there any way to cancel my contract without incurring a penalty due to lack of action/ service by vodafone?
23 Jan 2011 03:53:19 PM: Also, whats this I hear about people not receiving their bills in hardcopy any more? Now that I think about it, maybe the same things happened to me?? My bills late in arriving so I'm thinking maybe they won't even send it?? If thats the case, no way am I paying a late payment penalty
23 Jan 2011 04:07:38 PM: Well.......you have given it a pretty good bash without success.........yet!!!

14317 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Coverage in Rockhampton at 23 Jan 2011 02:33:01 PM
Oh yes Vodafone, so you are sorting things out directly with your customers, try going back over your emails to see how many customers have asked for anybody from vodafone to do just that, and recived no response or got fobbed off.

I have phoned and emaild for months try may, june, july, august, september, october november, then give up, some emails just beg for someone to ring me back, you know my number ( but it doesn't work, so email me I will give you a land line to ring.

I have had to work in Central Queensland for the past few months, and I have no idea how Vodafone is allowed to market phones or Broadband in the Rockhampton area.

I cannot count on my phone working when I need it and my broadband would be best described as not working at all.

But get on the Vodafone website and it Shows the whole area of rockhampton as being a good coverage area. Ask the locals and they tell you that they have a lot of contractors from Brisbane and Sydney come up to work and all complain that they can't get coverage. Why are they able to sell the product as claiming it works.

I am talking about no coverage at the major shopping centre on the north side of rocky, no coverage at Frenchville, no coverage at Central Queensland University or Capricornia College, except for a few minutes here or ther in certain spots you might walk into and message bank fires up to deliver the messages for the day or two, but don't think you can ring the message bank or person back, only if you are very lucky will you get more than a minute or two.

On top of that they double billed me for my old broadband and my new one from march last year to about October, eventually responded to one of my many emails and phone calls, to say they may have stuffed up and would refund me some money, have had no response since (months), they seem to be making adjustments in my account. But despite many requests by email and attempts by phone have not been able to discuss with a real person who sounds half interested.

Have also lodged complaint with ombudsman, spoke to ACCC and Fairtrade, all seem to be unable to do anything much
23 Jan 2011 02:40:22 PM: Its like the on line Voda map showing there is coverage in the town of Bruthen Vic, THERE ISN'T ANY AND THE NEVER HAS BEEN

I have two phones on plans with vodafone. After 6 months one of them started playing up, after a LONG and DIFFICULT process (including sending the phone of for repair 3 times, which all proved to be completely unsuccessful at fixing it),
Vodafone agreed to exchange it for a different phone.
They gave me three phones as options for exchange. (I would soon come to realise that any of the three phones they allowed me to exchange it for all had MAJOR faults. If anything they were agreeing to exchange it for one of them simply to get rid of the phones).

I ended up choosing one, after WEEKS my new exchange phone arrived in the mail! I turned it on, and within an hour I realised it's Wifi was faulty and playing up. Took it back and they gave me the same phone except a different handset. Same phone, same problem. Looked up solutions on the web and it appears the design of the phone is the reason for its poor wifi...so it's the manufacturers fault? no. It's vodafones fault for providing that faulty phone to begin with!

I took it back today, and they said they can't exchange it or send it for repair because it was already an exchanged phone.

They basically implied that I'm somehow trying to scam them. Yeah, right. I LOVE going to vodafone every day and wasting my time arguing with employees who don't know half as much about cell phones as I do.

Way to go vodafone! I'm sure the evil, nasty, and greedy consumers are trying to screw over the friendly, understanding, and innocent corporation!

23 Jan 2011 05:16:40 PM: I just thought I would point out that when Vodafone cancel your contract they leave the number active so you are able to port to another carrier! They simply remove the contract dates, before the moderator of this website jumps all over this ignoring his own advice contained in the how to complain section and tells you to go to the TIO I think you should check to see if the contract dates have been removed.

(Quoting 14244 Someone from NSW)- Having Same issues...

Me & my wife's mobile coverage, particularly in our home is terrible.
I can rarely have a conversation on the mobile as I cannot hear anything & eventually the line drops out.
Then I have the expense of calling the person back on my land line.

Incoming calls rarely come through & generally go straight to voicemail where thereafter I have the expense of calling my voicemail & then the expense of calling the person back on a land line.

I can receive SMS messages hours after the person has sent them, Similarly when I send SMS messages.

This level of service (or lack of) has been going on for months & I cannot continue like this.

We are now seriously looking at other providers

14127 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Getting Mad at 22 Jan 2011 08:14:47 AM
I am getting bombarded with telemarketing and spam emails. I'm sure it is from the leak, it couldn't be anything else. I tried to get out of my contract for breach of privicy, they said i couldn't prove that my info was leaked. How can you know if your one of the millions that had you info leaked? Simple answer, You Cant! It looks like we just have to grin and bare it.
22 Jan 2011 01:47:23 PM: Today a button fell of my shirt.. Vodafone's fault!
Yesterday it rained when I was walking to the shop.. Vodafone's fault!
Last week I got a splinter in my finger.. Vodafone's fault!
Well I don't actually know for sure if it was Vodafone's fault but it couldn't be anything else.

Really people, come on. Not every little inconvenience or annoyance in your sad little lives can be Vodafone's fault. I myself no longer use my landline due to constant telemarketing and Vodafone doesn't have that number in their system, and I also get spam emails on an account I never gave Vodafone.

I work in a VHA store. We use a program called Siebel (the same program that Telstra uses, as well as other non-Telco business). Siebel is where all customer accounts/details are kept. To access this program you need a username and password. As for the 'leak', it comes down to this. Some staff (now fired) have given out or sold their username/password/access to Siebel. Now to actually view a customer's account you actually have to specifically search for it via name/phone number/billing account number/sim card serial number/phone IMEI. The idea that a random selection of customer's detail have been leaked is preposterous, let alone millions.

I read through this site and I do see many genuine complaints. I also see a lot of wildly exaggerated complaints as well as complaints that are either outright lies or issues that are in no way Vodafone's fault.
If you look at this site as a survey or census then how is VHA supposed to accurately access and resolve their problems with inaccurate information?

By all means post your real, honest and genuine issues but keep your made up crap for the letters section of penthouse.

You say 'I myself no longer use my landline due to constant telemarketing..........' unless I have incorrectly read your sentence you must be wrong, unless you are the telemarketer as they (telemarketers) ring you.

Can you please clarify?

You say 'to actually view a customer's account you actually have to specifically search for it via name/phone number/billing account number/sim card serial number/phone IMEI'

Do they?? I have never been asked anything other than my phone number and PIN and presto all my account is visible!

When I have been unable to remember my PIN they as for my full name and date of birth and presto all my account is visible!

You work for VHA but you are also a database and security expert?

You are in the wrong job!!

You say 'I also see a lot of wildly exaggerated complaints as well as complaints that are either outright lies or issues that are in no way Vodafone's fault'

Just how many would that be, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 more than 5................6 perhaps, can you put a number on it?

You say 'If you look at this site as a survey or census then how is VHA supposed to accurately access and resolve their problems with inaccurate information? '

Yesterday it rained when I was walking to the shop.. Vodafone's fault!
Last week I got a splinter in my finger.. Vodafone's fault!"
and
"Not every little inconvenience or annoyance in your sad little lives can be Vodafone's fault"

These are my posts, no one else posted these so I can't show the posts. It was sarcasm, whether it was good sarcasm is clearly debatable. My point was the original poster claimed that spam/telemarketer calls couldn't possibly be due to anything other that the privacy leak. This is simply untrue. Don't blame everything on Vodafone. As I meant to say, I used to get calls TO my landline number FROM telemarketers, and I get spam sent to some of my email accounts and both my landline and those email accounts are not known to or are kept on Vodafone's system so they couldn't have been leaked by Vodafone hence not all spam/calls from telemarketers are because of Vodafone leaking your info.

"You say 'to actually view a customer's account you actually have to specifically search for it via name/phone number/billing account number/sim card serial number/phone IMEI'
Do they?? I have never been asked anything other than my phone number and PIN and presto all my account is visible!"

Apologies, I guess I should have written 'to actually view a customer's account you actually have to specifically search for it via name OR phone number OR billing account number OR sim card serial number OR phone IMEI'

And you've actually validated my point with "I have never been asked anything other than my phone number and PIN and presto all my account is visible". Exactly! The point being they needed something to search with i.e. YOUR PHONE NUMBER. The system is not like the White Pages telephone directory for example. Unlike the phone book you cannot just open a page and see everyone's details. You have to search for a specific person's account with any of the above search criteria. Therefore the idea that millions of customer's account details have been leaked IS preposterous, that is unless of course you already have any of the search criteria for those millions of customers and are going to search for them individually. Not impossible but very highly unlikely.

And no, I'm not a database and security expert. I do however know the capabilities and limitations of the system that all stores use and from which the leak allegedly came from, as I have been using it on an almost daily basis since Vodafone switched over to it. I also have common sense.. both of these you clearly do not have.

I did say "I also see a lot of wildly exaggerated complaints as well as complaints that are either outright lies or issues that are in no way Vodafone's fault.

I did also say "I read through this site and I do see many genuine complaints". I see you neglected to add that part. This in itself gives validation to my point. You probably skipped that part because without it you think you make a better argument, not a fair and balanced one though. Best not let the truth get in the way of a argument huh? I know VHA's systems and policies and products and I'm also a Vodafone customer myself who uses the products and services extensively every day and have not yet experienced the issues that other customer's claim. Does that mean those issues don't exist? Certainly not. I know there are problems, problems that people have posted here. But also knowing the products/systems/services I see there are also posts here that not just exaggerate but blantly lie. Again, you exaggerated part of my post by not including the whole comment to try and make a point. Many people have told the truth and many people lie and exaggerate. You want an exact number? There are 13000+ complaints here and you want an exact number??

You are an unreasonable idiot and I do hope if you are currently a Vodafone customer that you do move to another network so I would never have the misfortune of having you coming into my store.

12 Jul 2011 05:51:05 AM: Siebel, the application the Vodafone uses to store customer information is a database application. This means that the whole application is driven by a giant database. This also means that all the customer information is stored in a giant database in a flat form. This means that with the right access, anyone can view all the customer data that they want without have to specify a name/number or any of the search parameters you mentioned above.

In some cases, the username/password combination for the Siebel application is the same as the username/password combination for the Siebel database. Thus, it is theoretically possible that the "sold" username/password could access the database and thus all the customer data.

No coverage at all at my new work even though it says it is a covered area and even outside. Been on hold for 45mins twice only to hear that there was a technical issue and I'd have to call back. Sent 2 emails with no response. Still have not spoken to anyone after 25 days. Got my first email response yesterday saying that i would get contacted by their technical team soon and just added up the cost for me to cancel my contract! I pay a monthly cap yet I have probably sent a total of 3 texts only so probably spent less that $1 of my cap :( I just want to talk to someone!!! Bah!!!

14120 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massive Fail at 22 Jan 2011 07:46:48 AM
My 70 year old Mother went to get a mobile phone to be able to contact my brother in Hospital. They didnt explain everything to her and sign her up and pushed her out the door with a phone she couldnt use and a plan that was way over what she needed. When I went and confronted them about the issue they said they could do nothing and directed me to the customer service number. I call customer service they listened to my complaints and said they would call me back with an answer to my problem. 3 days later no call. So I call customer service again and they have no listing of my first call and say there is nothing they can do and that I will have to go back to the store as its there problem. I am extremely angry by now and confront the employees in the store making sure everyone can hear my complaints. They finally conceed to change her phone but only with equal or less value phone even know the $45 infinate plan as a lot more options for the same money she is paying.

I wont ever use Vodaphone(fail) they pray on unknowing people and kick them out the door with stuff they dont need!!
22 Jan 2011 02:05:30 PM: As someone who currently works in an officially VHA owned store i can tell you that aside from our base salary we also earn commission for the total sales our whole store does each month. Commission is in no way affected by whether we sell the lowest plan or the highest so it is actually in our best interest to sell a plan/phone that best matches our customer's needs. I don't know what the current commission structure is for Vodafone resellers but 3 years ago when I worked for a reseller I did get more money for selling higher caps than lower ones. Perhaps this sale occured at a reseller as I can't see the benefit for a company owned store.
Also, generally the easier to use phones i.e. the phones I would recommend for 70-ish old women are incidentally cheaper so maybe accept the exchange. I always warn against simply choosing the handset with the R.R.P. over a handset that is better suited for their use.
23 Jan 2011 07:05:23 PM: Yeah Nokia 2720 for $69 and a prepaid with a one year expiry would have done the trick. Having said that your mum is an adult and probably something about the plan attracted her to it. The rep would have felt evil if they gave her a low value phone for the commitment maybe. I'd be comfortable selling her a 12 month or no-commitment 45 and giving her a 'simple' phone for free or get her to buy it outright.
24 Jan 2011 08:19:22 PM: Haha... I see I'm not the only one who goes straight for the Nokia 2720 and 365 day recharge for the oldies. It's the big numbers huh?

14112 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Falling apart. at 22 Jan 2011 07:26:18 AM
I have been a Vodafone customer for several years now, and until recently (since new year 2011) I have had no real problems with Vodafone.
Just in the last week I had found that there was a couple of times I stepped outside our office building in the area around Morningside/Colmslie in Brisbane, and had a barrage of SMS messages advising me of missed calls and a few SMS messages come through at once.
Missed calls? Had me thinking as to what is going on, as I have never had any service issues in that area previously.
This happened a few times over the last week or so, and one day I went to send an SMS or make a call in the office and I found I had no service, my phone sould see the Optus, Telstra, 3Telstra networks, but no Vodafone!
By now I'm wondering if my phone had developed a fault. I have a spare phone, a bit older but works OK. Same result. No service at the office.
That night I discovered that I had similar issues at home, where previously I have had no issues.
Further tests revealed that I could see other networks but not Vodafone, and there was obviously nothing wrong with my phone.
I called Vodafone's customer service, and I'm on the phone for an hour before I manage to talk to somebody, for whom English was obviously not her first language, it then took me another 15 mins to get her to understand that I was having service issues. She advised me that they were not aware of any problems with the network, I should get my phone checked, or purchase a new phone because mine was likely faulty.
I explained my tests and results, she took more details and advised me that somebody would contact me back, I gave her my vodafone number and a Telstra mobile number to get me on, in case the Vodafone number didn't get me.

I'm still waiting for that call back.

Yesterday, I did notice that my Vodafone phone was suddenly working OK in the office building, I once again had service as I did before, and the service had improved at home, but it never seems to be the same from day to day.

All these problems with service/lack of service have come about after Vodafone's merger with 3, so it would seem.

I'm not happy!

14095 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is on a scale of 1-melbourne storm, the're the storm at 22 Jan 2011 02:39:21 AM
Over a month ago we have contacted both VF and the TIO to get the contracts stopped. After going through the TIO we got someone from VF to cancel the contracts and at the time we were simply going to upgrade our handsets and stay with VF.... that was until they told us that as existing customers we would need to wait at least a month before those phones might be available to us. As such we called back to cancel everything. We straight out said to the rep we just want to cancel it and not speak to retention at all. The rep refused to cancel and instead (after already waiting 65mins for the initial callback, put us through to retention who after waiting 45mins on hold simply hung up on us. Took all this information to the TIO who are now going to cancel everything for us however that might take 4 weeks "Due to the volume of complaints received"
22 Jan 2011 02:12:11 PM: Just curious, why did you go to the TIO to cancel your contract if you just wanted to resign? Was it just for a new phone? I don't mean to be rude but was the TIO neccessary in the start? I say this as someone who has also gone to the TIO and is still waiting "Due to the volume of complaints received"

14063 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ultimate Fail at 21 Jan 2011 08:33:22 PM
Ever since I adopted the smartphone system in December 2009, I chose Vodafone due to their competitive plans and was unable to do any research (due to purchasing the phone as a replacement for a lost one).

I have never fully been satisfied with Vodafone's performance. Slow, continual dropouts of Phone and 3g signal and occasional delays in SMS. But in the last 3 months the dropouts have increased signifcantly and the network is slower than it has ever been.

I have troubleshooted till the cows come home no avail. I can understand the poor coverage, but poor provision of services is not good enough.

14019 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is delayed SMS & poor coverage at 21 Jan 2011 06:43:16 PM
Maleny Q. 4552 - occasional delay in message delivery in & out.
Patchy reception even when line of sight with tower (N97 mini worse than N95 8G so partly handset issue). Complaint about reception on South side of town more or less brushed off by foreign call centre operator - need records & so on before investigation by tech. Seems to be a volume issue as well as signal - if the tower is busy there is no reception. I am buying a passive induction cradle & 12dB antenna kit to try improving reception at home & parents place

well i have a great day sitting on the phone, listening to music supplied by Vodafone customer service, oops did i say service, my issue is the coverage first off, it seams since they bought 3, there is no coverage, drop out after drop out, second, service from vodafail staff, oops i think i said service again, sorry...went into my local store not long ago, to get some advice on a matter, after standing at the counter for about 5 min, while the 5 staff sat on the lounge playing with there phones and computers, well it was enough time to fill out a survey form in the shop.....of cause, poor poor etc was my answer's, i went up to them and ask for some help, and got the death stare from all but 1, after all that i got, i dont know as a answer, now i see that they have spent millions on doing up there stores, what a wast of money, still the same staff.....why dont they sped the money on there coverage.
So i went in and signed up with Telstra, bit dearer but great customer service, and now i will have coverage, well when my number gets released, another issue, after waiting 7 hrs for that to happen, i rang them, hope your sitting down, i got thru and it only took 20 min, i get told that they had my DOB wrong, which i have corrected with them several times over the last 11 yrs, now i have to wait, another day.........gee i feel a bit better now, thank you for this site, i wonder if we can one for the banks
21 Jan 2011 06:59:16 PM: i think i love you lol. i laughed alot :)

14007 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 21 Jan 2011 05:45:50 PM
Was with '3' Mobile.

Ordered a Iphone4 with vodaphone once my plan ended. Did this online, but was 'denied' due to lack of identity proof.

So order one on phone. Order confirmed, but told with take 4 weeks.

I go to store, who give me a phone straight away.

I then call vodaphone (several hours later) and cancel (with confirmation number e.t.c) the order for my Iphone 4.

4 Weeks later, I receive TWO iPhones in the mail (one from the internet request that was denied, and one from the phone request that was cancelled - I have proof of all this).

I immediately (that day) call vodaphone. Wait several hours. Get them to send me a return envelope for BOTH phones. I stress that I have two, and I need two return envelopes.

One envolope appears, 2-3 weeks later.

I call again, tell them to send another envelope, tell them that if they charge me for these phones im gonna be furious.

Anyway, they promise 2-3 days. Week passes - nothing.

4 weeks after recieving the phone, spending hours trying to sort it out, NOT being sent the correct return, not being able to return these to the store...

I get charged...around $2100, taken straight out my account.

I RAGE. Go to a store, rage at the staff, who tell me they can't get me a refund immediately. I rage some more, and they agree to call their state manager - who organises a refund in two days. They also organise a courier to return phones, and confirm that phones have been returned.

I'm disgruntled but let it slide.

Two weeks after - ANOTHER F(*&ING $2100 out my account. This time I go into a blinding rage and storm into vodaphone, I tell them I want my money NOW or I'm going to the ACC and whoever else will listen to this.

I'm a student, I can't afford $2100, let alone $21 to be unexpectedly taken out my phone account.

Anyway, I get overcharge fees from my bank, I can't pay rent, can't eat, have no $$$ for several days. Money gets refunded. I'm assured that I will get some sort of compensation.

I get ONE months free bill. One months, after spending at a minimum, 10-15 hours trying to sort this out.

Anyway,

Anyone think I should follow up? Complain more? Will this get anything done?

feel free to e-mail suggestions on what to do to - (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED)

14006 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is The worst telco I have ever experienced at 21 Jan 2011 05:45:07 PM
Although I believe all the telco giants in Australia are as bad as one another - the waits, the poor response to complaints, the silly troubleshooting when the problem is obvious - their poor poor service courage.

They should be fined by the toothless ACCC so that other telco's and businesses realise that you cannot enter the market and claim to be a reputable company - and shaft customers like we are being shafted.

I especially feel sorry for those thousands who do not make the effort to wait 45 mins to speak to someone and voice their discontent.

13987 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extreme at 21 Jan 2011 04:34:38 PM
I have a 3GS iphone. Mainly it runs on 3G but not infrequently the vodafone 3G network seems completely unresponsive despite telling me I have full signal strength. Sometimes I can't make or receive any calls and txt messages refuse to send and I don't even attempt to get data because it just doesn't work. When I turn off 3G it works fine. This problem seemed to happen all of a sudden in my area (Main Beach, Gold Coast) but all my friends on Vodafone had the same problem so I knew it wasn't me. I couldn't call vodafone to complain (because I couldn't make any calls) so I emailed them and despite me explaining all my friends in the same area on vodafone had the same problem they sent a generic email back with a 'noreply' address stating that the problem was with my handset not their network. I knew they were wrong but just for completeness I put my sim into a nokia 3G handset and that didn't work either. When I left Main Beach everything started working again. I later discovered that turning off 3G seemed to fix the problem and now, despite paying for 3G data as part of my contract I leave 3G turned off so I can actually have a phone that works. My flatmate has had to do the same thing with his vodafone phone.

13985 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic at 21 Jan 2011 04:31:18 PM
The software on my mobile packed up 2 weeks after the warranty ran out. I returned it to the Toowong store, to be advised it would be sent to Milton here in Brisbane for repair. It went to Melbourne instead, and when it came back a master reset had been done, resulting in losing important phone contacts, and locking access to almost all of the songs I had downloaded previously from Vodafone Live. When I called the store, they claimed to have never heard of anything like it, and couldn't help. Useless.
22 Jan 2011 02:38:29 PM: I remember you, I told you in the beginning that your phone would probably get wiped and you should back everything up and even I showed you on the repair form that you READ and SIGNED! I also told you that your phone MIGHT go to milton but would probably go to melbourne. Milton is for customer's to go to for a quicker turn-around and some phones go to melbourne so milton can still have a quick turnaround but you didn't want to go the extra 2 suburbs over. And when you called us we told you that we didn't know how to fix the vodafone live song thing but you could call customer care or come back into the store and we would call them for you. I'm sorry we can't possibly know everything but we will help you to the department that knows.

Please don't name our store and call us useless when we have done everything right and honest and have tried to help you but of course you didn't mention any of that. It is unfair and untrue.
22 Jan 2011 11:33:58 PM: In my experience the in store staff genuinely try to be helpful. However the call centre staff and tech support etc are where the bad service begins. You can't blame in store staff for what happens, they just try their best to do what they can for you. It is vodafone corporation that is the problem not the individual workers at store level

13970 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Getting worse by the day at 21 Jan 2011 03:42:31 PM
Every phone call I make, I know it is to be shortlived. On average my phone calls last a maximum 2 minutes, because of the continuous dropout due to extremely poor signal. Also, I tend to have to stay very (and I mean VERY) still so that I don't lose the one bar of signal strength I always have. The day I see my phone with 2 signal bars, is one heck of a lucky day for me!
I've been with Vodafone my whole life, but this is the worst state I've seen the network in. I'm seriously thinking of changing!!
21 Jan 2011 04:07:12 PM: If this is not normal for your area and has only been the last 2months, its because vodafone is updating the tower in your area.
if you stick with vodafone by the end of 2011 our network will be up there with telstras,
just sucks that the upgrades have been effecting this many people.

My partner and I are with Crazy John's who deal for Vodafone. We have had internet issues for almost a year now and have gotten as far with tech support as replacing our sim cards and having our service disconnected then reconnected. Upon reconnection we received a call asking if the net was working and we told them it was working but still not well. They just said ok and hung up. Ring back 2 weeks later to find out why we have had no further tech support and they had put in the notes that we had told them the internet was working fine.

The notes they have on our account are nothing but lies they have made up to get out of actually having to do anything. Instore can't help because they just have to ring tech support like us. Tech support has also lied to the store staff trying to help us just to get rid of them. Tech support has also hung up on me because I told them to shut up when they kept talking over me. I didn't even swear I just told him he needs to shut up..

Still have no internet and still haven't gotten more tech support months later
22 Jan 2011 08:24:14 AM: I would have hung up on you too if you to told me to shut up. Really, that's no way of endearing someone who you are trying to get to help you.
22 Jan 2011 05:58:01 PM: He wasn't trying to help me. He was only interested in telling me the lies other customer service people had written on the account and was constantly talking over me. I told him to shut up considering I couldn't get a word in edgewise with him just sprouting all the crap that was written on the account which in no way coincides with what is actually happening on the account
24 Jan 2011 10:55:08 AM: I must admit having worked for Vodafone in the past the Tech support guys kinda have this thing where if they cant help you they try to confuse you and keep talking jargon just to confuse you enough that you hang up thinking they are working on your problem.

13959 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Im not here for no reason at 21 Jan 2011 03:21:01 PM
Vodafone network reception is the worst reception possible. After spending over 3 hours on hold with goodpta singh and goopta nagi they tried telling me they were going to build a new tower in my area to fix my network problems. In the next few months too they tell me. When is the due date? Oh, it hasnt actually been approved yet. Lies.

I bought the Desire HD, and they have deliberately shafted their customers by getting HTC to not implement the 850Mhz frequency, so I cant even take it to Telstra when I'm finished with these lying, theiving, criminals. On top of that the phone sucks on so many levels its not funny.

Whats that? Over 60% of the time your phone has no reception? Oh well, thats normal isnt it? Yeh right, I monitor mobile equipment using Telstra's NextG network, even in vehicles driving around all kinds of places it works over 99% of the time. Sorry, VODAFONE NETWORK FAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLL!

I have been ripped off by Vodafone. Take the phone back to the store for support, and they have got it down pat on how to get you out the door in record time. Any vodafone store is purely, 100% sales based. They do not have any stores where you can get support. Support is completely done by calling old mate singh in india and getting inane, useless, totally ridiculous answers. You can't even tell what they are saying half the time. Then they tell me the answer is to turn 3G off. Yeh right. Buy a smart phone so you cant use the Internet. Thats a little oxymoron, contravenes the Trade Practices Act really.

I have been attempting to deal with 1555 for a while now, and they do not call me back. I have been very polite when dealing with them. My story is now going to the TIO.

Thanks for NOTHING vodafone.
24 Jan 2011 11:00:55 AM: While i agree Vodafone is poor you cant get angry over not implementing some certain network band such as the 850MHz band. Working for a vendor I know the issues surrounding the different bands. As the 850 band is mainly implemented in the USA mobile handset vendors do a predominant amount of development in the US which takes longer than the European version (i.e. 900MHz version) SO in the interest of not losing time to market to the likes of Optus they are forced to go ahead with the European version. In some cases handsets support both 850 and 900 bands but at the moment this is Rare (Only some Nokia's and the IPhone at this stage)

I signed up for a 12 month contract last june. For the first four months my payments to them for some reason was not being updated in the system. So while I was paying on time and often before time, I kept getting sms' demanding payment at the risk of disconnection, which did occur. I eventually got onto CS after the eight or ninth attempt, I was told to just turn my handset off and back on and that seemed fix it. Weird bad true. I figured that would be the end of it but then around september I noticed I started getting really bad phone and 3G reception. My phone 30% of the time will just cut out for no reason during a call, the other 30% of the time it will cut out within about three seconds into the call, it works the other 40% of the time. I just wonder how much my bill is inflated if Voda charge a flag fall. Also network acccess cuts out despite having full bars/being in a city/under a voda tower. Piss poor. I pay 70 dollars a month for the privilege of having access to my phone 40% of the time. Pathetic.

This time - I missed calls from work because the phone didn't ring (full reception bars) and then the Voicemail came three days later - Vodafone offered to send my handsets (that's right, two, I bought the second one because the first one had the same issues) away for up to 8 weeks. They refused to admit that it's a network issue, even when I pointed out that I had both a Blackberry and an iPhone with THE SAME PROBLEMS. And when I pointed out that the loan phone did not have internet capabilities, and asked if they could cancel the internet section of my bill for the time the phones were away, the poor girl at the Vodafone store had to explain to me that it's 'impossible'. I am three months from the end of my contract and I will not be renewing it. I'm currently trying to get them to let me out early - they've cost me twice as much in lost shifts in the last week than the payments on the rest of my contract.

Vodafone 3G network appears to be cobbled together with pieces of string that someone must constantly keep 'wet' (I'll leave the HOW up to your imagination!) for any data to get through at all. The person or persons responsible for this 'wetting' activity must be narcoleptic given the observed performance. In an area showing 100% coverage [according to Vodafone's web site] I can get anywhere from 3+ Mbps of bandwidth, to as little as NONE WHAT-SO-EVER. Unfortunately, the latter is a far more frequent occurrence than the former. I now keep detailed records [ping times, link drop-out frequency, etc] just for the day when this info will come in handy!!!
21 Jan 2011 02:15:50 PM: Unfortunately wet string has been replaced as the telecommunications medium of choice.

13884 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is like a donkey on rollerskates at 21 Jan 2011 01:24:02 PM
Vodafone customer for far too long now. Everything was fine with the old network...then 3G. I guess I understand, I do live about 25 minutes from the CBD of Brisbane (which is not exactly out in the sticks and still dark green on the coverage maps I'm regularly referred to by friendly staff). I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who needs to stand in the middle of the street on one leg, holding a coat hanger in the air just to make a call let alone do anything else a smart phone is capable of. COUNTING DOWN til June '11.

13882 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very disaPpointing at 21 Jan 2011 01:16:06 PM
I was a Vodafone customer for many years until about 2006. I then changed to another service provider due poor reception and was happy with them for a few years. Last year I decided to give Vodafone another go as they offered the handset I wanted on an ok plan. At the time I resided not even 10mins from the Cairns CBD so you would think that reception would be fantastic. Well I was wrong! To make any sort of call I would have to go outside and hold my phone above my head until it registered some sort of reception which was very rare. Not only was this a huge annoyance, as soon as I would connect through and begin talking to someone my phone would cut out and say that I have no reception. My partner had his internet connected with Vodafone and also had the same problems in relation to reception. He contacted Vodafone many times and was told that a technician was going to come out and fix the problem as we were supposed to be in a good reception area. Well no one every came out and after many hours on hold and many pass arounds to different 'sections' of the company his contract was cancelled. We have since moved again to another populated part of Cairns where I have been told that I should get good reception. Well thats also not true. Not only is it really hard to find a spot in my house, inside and out, where I get reception my handset will say that I have one or two bars and as soon as I push the call button it says that I have no service. I still get charged a connection fee everytime this happens. EVERY TIME! 20c or whatever it is may not be alot but when this happens multiple times a day it really does add up. I thought that maybe it could be my phone so I went out and bought a $30 prepaid phone offered by Vodafone. It is purposely built for just calling and texting so I thought that this would mean better service as there is not so much 'going on' with the phone. I now get about 1 bar more however it still cuts out once connected. Clearly it is not the phones. I have been a good customer to Vodafone with bills always paid on time even before due occasionally. I have made minor complaints however have never been rude on the phone. I live in a built up residential neighbourhood and no other service provider seems to have a problem providing their customers with adequate service in my area. I am fed up and sick of paying good money for a service that can't be properly provided to me. I am also unhappy with the recent 'information leaks' that have been reported. Vodafone - VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Only a customer for for three months, have only ever received one bill. I have phone them ten times to date requesting invoices via email or mail, just get them to me. Last three phone calls where, if you don't pay the bill soon, will have to disconnect the phone! I want to pay the bill vodafone, just send me the damn invoices.

I'm also looking at seeing if I can terminate the contract as the reception is next to nill around most parts of Logan.

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for 8years and for the first time in August 2010 I went on a contract (before was only a pre-paid customer) and got a Nokia N97 mini. Biggest stuff around ever!! The phone started stuffing up in the first week with a mirad of faults as long as your arm. Went back to store and was told to call customer service and spent 2 1/2 hours on hold only to be told there was nothing they could do and to go back into a store!! went back to store and they tried to tell me to call customer service again, I was pretty angry and said the phone is brand new and under warranty, I want a replacement. No, they said we'll have to repair it first!! We can send it in for you which could take a week or more or you acn take it youself. well, great customer service, I now had to travel another 2 hours out of my way so I wouldn't be without a phone for who knows how long. Got phone serviced and the next day it was doing the same things it was supposed to be fixed!! Went back to store and still wouldn't repalce and said there was this process of forms etc before I could get a replacement, all the while thinking what's the point of a warranty anyway??!! so they said they had to send it away for repair again before I could get a replacement!!! So here I am one month later and the gave me a new handset only to get home and charge it and within hours it was doing the same thing as the previous phone!!! sooo furious, I now have to waste more time to back to the store ahain. Absolutly livid, if it is not resolved tomorrow when I return it I will be cancelling my contract and contacting the ombudsman

I get no reception at home. When i rang Vodafone "customer care" i was advised that i using an old phone that was not 3G enabled (even though it said on my screen 3G where the reception bars are) so i upgraded to a "new phone" the problem is now worse.. to upgrade to the "new phone" i had to sign up on a contract only to go home and low and behold NO RECEPTION AT HOME STILL! So i am now 4 months into a 2 year contract with a phone that A) gets no reception & B) I dont get my voicemails for DAYS later. I work in real estate my mobile phone is paramount. So i am faced with porting my number to Optus and paying out and 18 month contract that i was misled into signing!
21 Jan 2011 01:25:36 PM: how did you ring when you had no reception?
23 Jan 2011 06:19:08 AM: landline you idiot ...
It would appear the Vodafones "employing of extra staff to improve service" is crap. They are all on this site trying to debunk all these comments"
Clowns. either do it right of close up shop Vodafone ...

13867 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Superfail at 21 Jan 2011 12:52:36 PM
My god, I could go on for days about the problems I've had with Vodafone. Weeks even. When I went on a new contract and got a new phone it initially took three weeks and a call to the ombudsman before I could even use said phone. It literally didn't work for weeks. THis was because the salesman had tried to use some tricky technique for porting my number from Optus, which basically caused my number to get stuck in this cyber hole where it was neither an Optus or Vodafone number.

Then, when my Blackberry failed, I had a nearly four week wait to get a simple receipt emailed to me so I could get it replaced. Yup, nearly a month just to get a proof of purchase emailed through. I spent so many hours waiting in the shop to get it (their computers were down) and then on the phones to India (the second time I called to check where PoP was, they inadvertently cancelled the request for one...)

Don't even get me started on their crappy coverage or customer service.

Vodafone, never EVER again.
21 Jan 2011 01:41:26 PM: Never say never.
21 Jan 2011 03:31:54 PM: What about never ever?

I ended a contract with Vodafone 3 years ago. I did not make a fuss about their poor service at the time or the bad reception. Instead I simply took my business elsewhere. I recently applied for a loan and found that Vodafone had put a default on my credit report for a bill that I didn't and shouldnt have received and so the Bank would not approve the loan despite my good income and otherwise credit history. I have sinced hired a credit report repair company and they are fighting to have the default removed from my credit file as well as reporting Vodafone to regulatory bodies

Call dropouts and I cannot call any number with +61 (oz code) at the front of numbers or any other nations code. I havent experienced delays in sms though.
21 Jan 2011 01:29:02 PM: 0011 61 and then the overseas number (or local mobile number) minus the preceeding zero.

I finally left Vodafone after suffering years of bad reception and service and now I can't get them to unlock my handset (iPhone) so I can use it with the other service provider that I have already switched to. I have called countless times, been on hold for hours, had calls to customer service drop out, I've been into their stores (where the staff aren't adequately trained)and sent emails. It has been two months and I still can't use the phone I bought outright.
21 Jan 2011 03:15:49 PM: just go to www.vodafone.com.au/unlock and put ur details thru, and then u can unlock thru itunes by clicking "restore" , thats how i got mine unlocked

I have been with vodafone for 10 years but will be changing to another provider when my contract runs out in a few months. My calls drop out all the time, my reception changes from room to room in my house, I have to stay in the front of the house if I want to make a call. Most of the time my internet data transfer is slower than dial up and am unable to use the web on my iPhone as the pages time out! I have complained to customer service only to be told it's my phone and to turn it off and on haha. I no longer bother even calling them due to the long hold time, usually around 40 minutes but sometimes it has been longer. I also find it hard to understand some of them and have even asked to be tranfered to another representitive only to be told no. It's shocking that such a major company can be so dodgy.

13790 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Not happy. at 21 Jan 2011 11:20:35 AM
I had never really had many issues with vodafone until about 3 months ago when I started a long distance relationship. My last 3 bills have all been over $300 due to me going over my cap, which is understandable, BUT when I went in to the vodafone store to discuss moving to a higher plan, they told me to call customer service, who in turn told me that as there was no plan higher than mine anymore I would have to pay a $540 cancellation fee and then re-enter another 24 month contract on a different plan. Ridiculous! I was happy to stay loyal to vodafone and pay a bit more each month for more useage, but I think they took one look at my last 3 bills and realised I'd keep paying them the $300-$400 phone bills I was racking up! Very disappointed, never get good coverage and constantly get dropped calls too.

13779 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a complete failure at 21 Jan 2011 11:12:51 AM
Hi guys,
I brought a Blackberry on a $79 plan from Vodaphone on 1/5/10 and had coverage problems immediately.
*June and July, no amount of downloaded updates helped, changing the SIM did not help. Then in
*August the handset started playing up with message issues amoungst others, still no coverage at home and not for a 8km radius - they replaced the handset. Still no joy with coverage, but the phone worked.
*October the handset stopped working, sent away again and replaced. Still no coverage but handset works.
*January the handset stopped working again (3rd new one) and still no coverage.
20/1/11 Sit in Vodaphone store for well over 2 hours, on the phone to customer support for 2 hours. They will not cancel the policy, they want to send the phone away again. Offer me a new Nokia if i pay for it and they will reimburse me (no way), offer me a month free service (what service, i have no coverage). Anyway, phone now sent away again, customer service to call me Monday 24 Jan to see if i have coverage with new SIM and loan handset, asking that i document any calls that dont go through. Then they will launch an investigation and if it shows no coverage they will then cancel my contract.

Got home last night with loan handset and new SIM - no coverage only emergency calls can be made. Soo.....700klm later, $711 bills, 8 months no coverage at home, 4 new handsets and still they persist with keeping me in a contract for a service i cannot use for its intended use!
Thanks for listening, I will keep you posted!

I have logged requests and problems through the website and even though I have an incident nubmer, have received no reply/reponse. I tried calling but gave up after being on hold for 25 minutes.
I am also frustrated that a handset that I bought from Myer is locked to Vodafone even though I bought it our right and there was no sim card etc linked to the handset.

Have been with vodafone for a few years now and am constantly losing signal in my town. It has gotten even worse now that I have moved house since I do not get any signal at all in my house now and have to walk down the street to send and recieve messages. I would understand if I lived in the middle of the bush but I am in Mackay and it isn't really that small of a town.
