Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

7158 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is From A to Z, I will give it a Z--- at 28 Dec 2010 05:44:26 PM
Hi there,

I just want to convey how I am very disappointed with the service of Vodafone. I signed up to a contract 2+ years ago under my guardian's name because I was still under 18 back then. I was expecting to experience the so-called 'the best operator' service. To be honest, the service that Vodafone gives over the 2 years was very bad, I have failed to receive reception when I go to certain areas in Victoria. Often, I also have problem sending and receiving International messages.

Switching the name from my guardian to myself was very VERY very VERY difficult; the operator keeps asking for a whole bunch of stuffs that don't seem too important. I had quiet a difficult time to communicate with the operators, not that their English is bad but they keep assuming the stuffs that I know and that I don't know; and as a customer, I don't want to listen to a customer service saying "HEY, you don't know this!".

Now that I just realized I have $60 credit in my guardian's account, I have called Vodafone customer care and AGAIN, they make it very difficult for me. I do understand that for security reasons Vodafone will need to authorize whoever is claiming the credit. BUT HEY! Let's just think for a second here; if my guardian has said that I can be passed as the next account holder of the number, then it means that my guardian is saying "Yes, this guy has used the number for the last 2 years that the contract was on". If that's the case then is it that difficult to know and understand that the $60 belongs to me.

I really think that Vodafone needs to review its policies on changing the account holder. At the end of the day, we both want something from the other party. Me, as a customer, I want to have convenience using Vodafone and in my honest opinion, the convenience that Vodafone is serving (especially over the last few months when I tried to change the account holder's name and claiming the credit, which I don't seem to be successful with) is very very disappointing.

Best regards,

Harris

Ok, I bought one of their mobile broadband services to plug into the USB port on my laptop. It's supposed to be 3G and is SLOWER THAN DIAL UP. I live in inner-city Melbourne - so Vodafone if you're listening to this forum, I want you to know that THERE IS NO EXCUSE for such crappy network performance. God knows how you'd go trying to service regional Australia when you can't even get metro right.
29 Dec 2010 02:34:15 PM: Yep it's total crap. It doesn't work in my flat. I live close to Melbourne CBD too.

I have an old 3 contract that is close to ending which in the past 3 was alright about, now with them joining vodafone it is a disgrace.
To cancel a contract that is meant to be finishing I was told by a very rude customer service consultant i will need to pay $400 as part of a cancellation fee (even though i have close to 2 weeks to go) which is the first i heard about plus outstanding charges which i dont have, when i disputed it i was told that there lawyers would be in contact.
To Vodafone bring it on with your lawyers i have prove of everything

I purchased the contract /new phone in a shopping centre got home no coverage at the beach where I live or emergency only discovered this immediately its been 3 months now and the phone was sent back immediately to Vodaphones Tasmanian ventre. They claimed to not have received it (in trackable postpak sent by vodaphone) I checked with Australia Post and it was checked as rec eived 2 months ago, luckily I have all my receipts from the Post Office. S o although their computer coverage check said my street and area were fine and the bloke at the centre is actually from my suburb I went home on that day of purchase realised it wasn't working, went into the shopping centre was told WE CANT HELP YOU please call VODAPHONE with an average 1 hour phone call waiting time and emails unreturned. I nearly lost a job because the company was trying to contact me, I hadn't heard from the company and luckily checked.....

7096 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is criminal at 28 Dec 2010 05:26:17 PM
About 4 years ago I bought a laptop modem device from Vodafone and signed up for the Internet with them. I hardly used it since it worked for few minutes then dropped out. I returned to the shop where I made the purchase (Forest Hill Chase, Melbourne), but was told I had to phone Vodofone for assistance.

After the 5th time of waiting for over half an hour on the phone I gave up and stopped paying the $25 monthly account. I wrote to them demanding that I be released from the contract but never had a reply.

8 months later I was contacted by a debt collector demanding $200 plus costs which I refused to pay so they put it on my credit record. They continued harrassing me for over a year.

It then went quiet until the present.

This month I was contacted by another debt collector who said they had "bought the debt" from Vodafone . I refused payment again.

What annoys me is that the credit record companies accept the word this criminal organisation but refuse to remove the blight against my name, even though I have told them that I dispute the $200 claim.

I run a small security firm, I signed a contract at All Phones placing a condition on the contract: Subject to coverage Deer Park-Rockbank.
After failing to send bills for three months in the business name, as appearing on the contract, I attempted to resolve and discuss the issue at times faxing them the lost contract (weekly). I refused to pay the Bill until it was changed into the contracted-business name which still has not happened. They tried defaulting my credit rating and the Credit Agency on contacting them removed the Default within weeks of being provided with all documents. Service and coverage is so much worse than the Largest Telco whom we all hate due to same lack of customer service and time placed on hold to fix issues!

Despite many assurances, vodafone 3g does not work in Inverloch 3996 in Victoria. It only occasionly works, for moments in Melbourne!!!! After many angry discussions, one of their technicians finally admitted that there was NO coverage whatsoever in Inverloch. I was stupid enough to believe their speil and I took out 2 broadband subscriptions with them. They don't want to know me now as I want a refund IN FULL for both these ????services????? They finally sent me an envelope to return one USB ?thing? .....they are still trying to charge me, and am still waiting for the envelope for the other useless USB ?thing? I have wept my eyes out with the frustation, extra cost and anger at their absolutely useless service and their blatant insistance that their broadband works ok. I am unable to make or receive calls from my work in the Ferntree Gully, Basin area in Melbourne. I took 70 students to Canberra where we were struck by gastro and my phone was noy usable thanks to vodaphone and I had to borrow a phone during this emergency!!!!!!!I got no satsisafction when I returned to Melbourne and complained, just given yet another SIM card. I have been in to the store at Eastland 5 times to be told each time it must be the SIM card or the phone, absolutely not the company. Today I was there complaining again, them not believing me, especially re the MCG when another customer agreed with me.They just told me to ring yet agin Customer Care, been there done that and no satisfactory result. ~ i went into a vodafone store to get help face to face. they told me my number didnt exist. i got a friend to call me with the one bar opf signal i had. and it rtang. but no - "you must have told people the wrong number" what?? it just rang!, "well the number you gave me doesnt exist." "can i call my phone using one of yours". and shock horror it rang - but on the system it doesnt exist. so they tried to charge me to use that number despite it not being on their system! i showed them that it was vodafone and it did exist but i had no signal and no one was helpful. they told me to get a new number, a new phone and new plan. all vodafone of course! i said no and walked out. 10 minutes later i found that they had disconnected my number. i went back and the person i spoke to said that it was recorded last time i came in (the 10mins) that i wanted to disconnect that number and start on a new number with a much higher plan - and they charged my credit card!
i only went with them as they have the extra money offer like the $29 cap = 160. Never again!
~ sends texts or receives texts up to 2 1/2 weeks after they were sent, usually in the middle of the night about 3am, which is unacceptable in the extreme!.
~Not letting calls through (to 000) when i needed police help! they told me that the network was busy and try again in an hour!
~ instead of sending one sms when it is written, it sends multiple - even 46 copies to the one recipient. AND I WAS CHARGED FOR EVERY SINGLE ONE
~ vodafone hung up on me when they said that they couldnt help me, also saying - judst deal with it
~ being on hold for over an hour EVERY time i call
~ not being able to understand basic problems and then told not to ring back again when i rang several time with the same complaint.
~I live in rural victoria with no reception, i went to melbourne to get service and in thge heart of melboune there was zero bars. i was told that my phone was faulty - deespite it being a vodafone phone. i bought a new phone, an expsensive one and it was still the same

I have been on here reading so many ppls stories and the pain they have gone through.
Personally I feel it was a massive mistake for Vodafone to agree to this merger of 3 and Voda. clearly they didnt and still dont have this capacity in place nor there is no structure for there company which has resulted in very upset and angry customers.
I speak as I am a previous employee of VF before the merger and let me tell you, after the merger went through not only customers were being affected as there was no transperency to there existing customers but staff had suffered through this all.

All staff went through a re apply stage and well most ppl were made redundant and when they had to go back in for there feedback sessions alot of ppl were given no reasons as to why they didnt make the cut.

Excuses were made such as "Unfortunatley you have too much happening in your personal life" or that we wish you best of luck!! Really? F#$K OFF!!

I for one am very glad this site has come up as not only on the inside and back end was crap but once and for all all customers and the Australian people can see how this merger clearly should not have happened.

I have many friends on the network along with myself and the amount of drop outs or call failed I get in my house is ridiculous.

Vodafone take back your stores and get rid of 3 you let them enter a merger with a $350 Million debt over there heads.... What were you thinking???

It saddens me to say this but after being a customer for over 12 years with Vodafone I am going to Telstra as this coverage and BS that has been going on for close to 2yrs is absolutely that BullShit!!!

My Husbands sister was charged by Optus for the messages that she sent several times, which actually showed up on her bill but I never received them. I also get notified of my voicemails (often days later - or not at all). Kinda a HUGE problem seeing as I need this service to make my living. Not only that but it makes me look stupid in front of my clients that say they txt me and I have to turn around and say that I haven't received their msg. SUX >:S

Have spoken with a vodafone store and they said that "it must be your fone". I went home and switched fones and it wasn't my fone I still have the same problem. Oh well at least I don't have to buy a new fone!!!

How many hours of my life have I wasted on hold to vodafone because they haven't called me back?
Limited or no service all the time, they won't let me out of my contract so I actually have a useless phone right now. I hope they get what's coming to them because they treat their customers like dirt!

constant drop outs or no reception at all. I have spent hours on to Vodaphone.
Recently my Vodaphone iphone bill went over my cap because I had to call everyone that said they had tried to reach me and could not get though. Voicemail not even picking up. They keep telling me it will all be alright soon. I have an elderly mother and it is imperative that I have my phone on all the time. This is completely a rip off. They should not be charging customers until this is resolved. I will be getting my plan which is only 3 months old canceled and go to Telstra. I have had enough. I have lost so much business.
Even an assistant in one of the Vodaphone stores admitted her phone is really bad too.

After being a telstra customer for over 10 years I signed up to vodafone for the value I saw in their iPhone packages and was assured coverage was still dependable. I constantly have reception drop out, voicemail rarely works and due to poor coverage voicemails are received days after they are left. I would leave vodafone today if it wasn't going to cost me as I signed up for 24 months and I'm only 6 months in. I know there is nothing I can do other than ride out the remaining 18 months of my contract and then I'm gone from vodafone for good never to return.

Calls dropping out almost regularly, in fact I can actually pinpoint whole locations where you are guaranteed that the phone call you are engaged in will almost always drop out in the city of Melbourne and in various locations around the suburbs.
Even on a pre-paid flexi-cap that's 39 cents everytime just to call back on top of the 89 cents a minute. I feel that this is absolutely deliberate, unfortunately given the above it makes economic sense to almost make sure and maintain drop outs at those prices.
The internet charges are beyond the joke $2 per Megabyte!!!! WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! No wonder I never use the net on my phone.
If the fixed the dropouts or just don't charge a connection fee I think they'd be at least half way there to fixing the most obvious of issues.
Lastly the sms prices are a joke as well.....sms costs the company basically nothing and to charge 29 cents for each 160 character text or 35 cents to send the same overseas, again almost minimal cost given Vodafone's international network, just stinks.
If there was a company that came into the market that at least covered even one third of these things I've listed especially the dropouts I'd leave Vodafone immediately.

Have unfortunately been with Vodafone for 3 years. First phone I had broke 4 ones with different issues (software buffered up, wouldn't turn on) and was forced to pay a 50 bond every time I took it back to have fixed. Was told after the third time they didn't have any spare phones so I was told to call Vodafone myself and tell them I refused to pay for an upgrade when my phone was still in contract. I did that, got on another 2 year plan (which I said I didn't want in the first place but was told that was the only way to go. Was also advised against
Insurance after it didn't help at all last time.) got a new phone, had it for three months and that broke so called again and they said to take it into the store. Only problem they closed the store closest to me earlier so I would've had to drive 150kms... I then decided to just buy an iPhone outright so I could get off my plan as soon as it was up, ordered it online and was told 3 weeks, which was fine. I called 4 weeks later, waited for half an hour and was told that it was ordered fine, and would be arriving soon. Another 3 weeks later I called again to be told that it hadn't Bern ordered at all and I would need to order another, which I couldn't do that day because I had just paid my bill and it didn't show up on the system. Again u called up the next day, ordered another phone, and was told it was ordered in priority service, buy still took 3
More weeks to arrive.
I also don't get service in parts of my house, and the usual dropped calls and missed messages...

I recently re-contracted two phones for my children, they were with the 3 network, using Telstra whenever 3 was out of range. While setting up the next contract period I was told that 3 now are aligned with Vodaphone and that the network was superior than what I had. with no way of knowing otherwise and putting trust into the salesperson, at the time I was happy to change.
my children live in Taylors Lakes and are schooled in Sunbury, both suburbs of Melbourne, not considered rural or remote. There are two different handsets in use with the same result, very low signal in Sunbury and literally nil signal in the Taylors Lakes home.

Good service costs money, ditch your phones and sign with Telstra... or if you never leave metro areas, Optus.

My phone and internet both keep cutting out. After several phone calls to Vodafone they told me it was my phone and computer that were causing the issue and to replace my computer and call Nokia regarding my phone issue. I was expecting an important phone call and had to turn my phone off as it was the only way it would go through to my voicemail and then I was able to retrieve the msg at the end of the day. Ridiculous!

Telstra and Optus: dropouts even at home, I have to move around to get any form of signal, then freeze until I make or receive calls or txt's. You lot think Vodafone is bad, come to my place with your Telstra crap! then complain about your provider. No telco can give perfect service everywhere, if they could there would be no competition.

My phone has apparently been calling my friends at 3am on random days. In my phone and online, no logs of such calls were recorded.
