26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

18601 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is New data usage charges at 2 Jul 2011 12:17:34 AM
2 Jul 2011 01:07:54 AM: It appears that previously those services were completely free, as in you could use them and the data didn't count towards your cap usage. see our comment here: http://vodafail.com/single.php?p=18593

You can lodge a complaint with vodafone to get out of your contract without paying the exit fee. Details can be found on the 'how to complain' page - be sure to talk about all the issues you are having.

18593 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is mega fail at 1 Jul 2011 04:41:06 PM
I'm very confused re: the extra data costs thing. So I have a cap, it contains data, but they're going to start charging me extra on top of my data cap for accessing certain content, regardless of whether I've hit my data cap or not? I really hope I've got this wrong because it just seems so bizarre?!
1 Jul 2011 08:20:19 PM: What appears to have happened is that previously you were not being charged at all for accessing secure websites, voip or p2p. That means when you used those services, the data wasn't coming off your cap. However Vodafone has realised they weren't charging for this data and they're correcting their mistake.

It does seem odd and I guess it shows that their data usage monitoring was fairly broken. There is an article on the issue here: http://www.itnews.com.au/News/261930,vodafone-ends-p2p-voip-free-ride.aspx

And some comments on Whirlpool that are also very good.

18572 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No signal at 30 Jun 2011 02:32:03 AM
I am living in Epping, Victoria. If we look at the network coverage it is OK but still the reception is very very poor. Most of the time there is SOS (no signal at all). I can't wait till my contract ends and this will be my last contract with vodafone.
For people living in this area, I suggest you to reconsider before signing contract with Vodafone.

I got an awesome phone on a contract with vodafone but I couldn't stay in a phone call for more than about 10 seconds without it dropping out so I've been using my SIM card in a different phone and its been working fine until today; I have not even had one bar of signal all day and I've been moving around in different regions of Melbourne all day!

18555 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is SMS Delivery 3 months late. at 28 Jun 2011 05:38:01 PM
Yesterday Morning @ 4:13am mind, i recieved a SMS from Vodafone with the Tattslotto results drawn on 16th April 2011. Then another SMS @ 5:22am, 6:44am, 7:23am, 8:02am, 8:22am, 9:07am, 10:17am and the last one so far @ 11:11am. All the SMS's are showing Saturday Tattslotto Draw Results from 16th April to 11th June.

Fat load of good the draw results are to me now, and who has the time to call them and be on hold for a hour to complain and get no action! 4:13AM wake up SMS, thanks a lot Vodafone!!

18545 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Bad at 27 Jun 2011 10:55:40 PM
I am on the talk and text package and have over 5571 free texts. However, I have just realised they are charging me 5 cents a text! Talk about sneaky! What is the point of this package when you cannot use the free texts!?!
28 Jun 2011 02:53:33 PM: The text messages are free, delievery reports however do incur a 5c charge per notification. Delievery reports are handset specific (mostly Nokia devices) and can be turned off via your handsets text message settings. Once this service is diabled you will save money and the only difference is your phone will no longer display message delievered after sending.

18544 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is changes to data charges at 27 Jun 2011 04:51:24 PM
I received a text message from Vodafone saying there would be changes to data usage and charges. I called and listened to the rather vague recorded message just saying that usage of services such as Skype would change but with no information of how. I called customer services, went through to an Indian call centre and just got off the phone, after 37 minutes and with nothing resolved. I just made the decision to stick with vodafone on Friday when my felxicap expired, based purely on how good the data charges were and am told that there is no chance of a refund and they still do not have information on how the charges will work, even though it is happening in just over one week.

When I complained about what short notice I was being given for such significant - although still mostly unknown - changes, I was told that Australia's laws require just one week notice. Their tactics and lack of customer service makes me think it's worth losing the money I have paid for the next month and just swapping to another provider immediately.
27 Jun 2011 10:44:41 PM: That's shocking. If Vodafone isn't going to sort it out and says they won't give you a refund then you can go to the TIO and they will look at the charges.

Goodluck on your new provider when you switch!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
28 Jun 2011 08:54:17 AM: I recieved this TXT yesterday: Service message: Upcoming correction to charges from 08.07.11 may affect some customers using data services. Please call 1520 for more information.

Apparently anything from VoIP apps to sites that will require a username and password login will incur a "correction charge". The recorded message states if you do not use any of these you will not be affected... I'm sorry Vodafone but what's the point in having a smartphone if not to check your emails, use social networking sites and check your online banking??

When are they going to list these charges that are apparently in line with the contract I signed over a year ago?

Vodafail is an understatement.
29 Jun 2011 01:50:26 PM: They couldn't even give an example of roughly how many megabites would be used up for a skype call of 10mins. they had nothing! I have emailed them several times, each time with the e-mail being auto answered with a solution for connecting to WAP services and then saying they assume the issue is now resolved.

Have contacted TIO, thanks for the suggestions. might contact ACCC also.
6 Jul 2011 11:13:39 AM: UPDATE: due to complaint I made with TIO, someone from Vodafone's customer resolution team called and after a lot of repetitive legal speak about them not changing T&C's but charging what they are meant to be charging, i was still not able to get an answer on roughly what I would be charged for from now on, despite having already spoken to 3 customer service reps in the indian call centre, writing a complaint e-mail to Vodafone and then one to TIO - they still had no information on hand other than 'looking up on the internet roughly how many MBs a skype call of 10 mins uses'. she estimated that the 500mb w3ould last for 200 internet minutes. I kept arguing till she agreed to double my 500mb data but as that will still be used up super quickly, I said I would be taking this further and then she said she'd add another 1GB to my existing 500mb allowance. as soon as that's been used up, i'm leaving. just wanted to share this so others can complain and at least get more data/avoid exit fees on their contracts.
9 Jul 2011 10:34:25 AM: If you use Skype, just add a $3 pack and use the Skype on Voda application, problem solved, it gives you unlimited Skype, info on Voda website

I've just read on your website that people have been waiting for the website to be fixed in regard to the bonus bank scheme where you cannot purchase a new phone. I was on the phone tonight to be told that in 48 hours someone would get back to me regarding this issue. Any other company would be able to process the transaction and payment over the phone but apparently it's their policy that you can only redeem bonus dollars through the website. What a scam!

Vodafools Moblie Broadband Internet just stops working after 6 months in my area. The I call so many times and they have no solution for me. This morning it starts working again only to die again a few hours later. Something needs to be done about this company, seriously it needs a mass boycott or something because this is too rediculous. These groups and complaints are not effecting Vodafone in anyway, we need something bigger and more influencial to take on the surface of Vodafone and make a huge differnce to this evil corporation.

Just moved to Wyndham Vale, VIC and their website shows it should have coverage in that area as they have just finished building the new network in Werribee. I don't have any network 95% of the times. When I do and try make a call gets dropped out in the middle of the call. Really annoying. I have complained to them and someone supposed to contact me but hasn't heard from them since.
20 Jun 2011 03:26:00 PM: They can't get through on their own bad network hahahah fail on both ends
31 Aug 2011 02:41:24 PM: I went to Wyndham Vale in August 2011 to check out my new home that is being constructed. Due to be completed in October 2011 and moving in straight away. I had no Vodafone signal at all on my HTC, neither did my husband on his iPhone (Vodafone network). I'm locked into a 24-month plan with 18-months left to go. What a waste!!! Boo Vodafone
21 Sep 2011 11:36:04 AM: I'm in the Wyndham Green Estate. I bearly get the new 850 signal (1-2bar)...It's funny I get 850 signal at the back of my house and when I'm at the front standing out next to the street my phone switches to the 2100Mhz signal just 1 bar on my phone. So yeah I get drop outs as well :(

For about 2 weeks now my Vodafone Mobile Broadband internet will not work. It will connect and take data from me as normal but it wont load any web pages or anything... I called Vodafone 10 different times with no solution, they acted like it was only my problem and that they had no idea why their coverage is so bad. Rahahahajinu told me that my area only has outdoor coverage (I can only use it outdoors) I said that I had been using it for 5months inside a house in my area with very minor problems but nothing this bad... He was surprised that this happened but I still got no solution. He then said that he checked my area and stated that they are doing some work on towers, updating them etc. I went to the Yodafone website and did the update checker for my area and it was clearly stated that no update or work was going on in my area..... Was he just lieing to me so he could get me off the phone? I don't know what to do about this and am losing money......

Vodafone's network is a joke. Their intenet is so slow and doesnt work 95% of the time. Yet they are still happy to eat your data with their greedy fat mouths, watching the balence of your last reacharge drool out of their fat freaking mouths. They take money out of your and my childrens mouths and use it too feed their Indian call centres in Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata and laugh as Muhammed and his wife Naji sleep in their big pile of money and data you spent while leaving you on hold for hours until you give up or your ear rots out. Vodafone don't care about me or you, they care about their secret master plans that they are yet to reveal while proiding the worst service to you and your families. For SHAME! 18430 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Biggest fail provider at 17 Jun 2011 08:29:50 PM
Where do i start;

Firstly, i dont get coverage in my office, 3 km from the city. I constantly get drop outs and no service to and from the city, within the 3 km radius.

Secondly, i tried to pay my bill using credit card over the phone, "We're sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties, please hang up and try again later...." So i thought i'd try it online, same thing.... so i vented my anger on twitter. And where do you think vodafail tried to resolve my complaint? On Twitter! What the hell?

I've constantly tried to get answers to my coverage issues, but i just get automatic responses saying they're improving coverage in my area, still hasnt happened yet, at home anyway and there's no mention of near my office.

I sit on the train and see others near by with iPhone 4's, different carriers who have better service than me, or that just have service when i dont.

How do i get out of my contract?!?!
18 Jun 2011 10:46:42 AM: I've collected all of my evidence (emails etc) and told vodafail to release me from my contract.... see how we go
20 Jun 2011 11:56:18 AM: And we have a winner!!!!

"I have reviewed our coverage maps and currently the signal in the area is listed as “outdoor” coverage and the signal may not be sufficient to fully use the service indoors. While the network may be upgraded in the future, there are no specific plans at this time.

On this basis I am able to offer:

1. Reduction of your Early Termination Fee to $X for you to keep your handset.
2. Removal of your remaining commitment term upon return of your handset.

Please advise if you wish to accept either of these offers."
21 Jun 2011 12:19:23 AM: Awesome! Congratulations on getting out of your contract. Hope you can find some much better service elsewhere!

I had many issues with calls dropping out, messages taking hours/days/weeks to get delivered. So a couple of weeks ago i called up vodafone and surprisingly was able to get out of my contract relatively easily (within 10 minutes) provided i sent the phone back. Only 5 months into my contract i thought this was reasonable and agreed to this. The guy i spoke to told me voda would send out a bag and that i should get in within 5 days. It's now been 9 days and no bag has come. For anyone else this has happened to how long did it take to receive the bag?

18350 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Wireless Broadband at 8 Jun 2011 03:48:01 PM
I have had prepaid wireless broadband for over a year now. The first year was fine. Not a problem - ever. I bought a new wireless modem on special at Christmas for what I thought was a bargain - $99 for what had previously cost me $150. Now I am able to connect, but can only get to webpages once in a while. I usually get an "unable to display the webpage error". Same on my iPhone. So, although I have enough to get me through the year, the year will expire well before I am able to use up all my gigs. I am not very techo, but when I am able to get through on the customer support line, the tech people don't seem to really know what the problem is. They guide me all around the place and eventually get it going again (not sure if this is co-incidental or not), but then the next time I log-on, 9 times out of 10 I am back to the same problem. Think I might just cut my losses and ditch the Vodafone modem and go buy a new one!!

I can be sitting in a car, outside, or anywhere, with my 2 best friends, one of whom is with Telstra, the other with Optus, and both can connect to the internet so much faster then I can. When getting on net to get directions somewhere, my friends will both have been able to enter where we are going, and have gotten the directions, before my page has fully loaded! We all have the same iphone, so that shouldn't become the issue at all. Then on top of this, vodafone will just drop out when I am on the phone, no matter where I am! So ridiculously frustrating. My phone wouldn't work in my street at all for a week, I would have to check all my emails etc whilst I was at work, as even my household internet is with them, and when I would ring customer care they tried to tell me nothing was wrong with the service in my area! As soon as contract is up I am heading to Telstra.

Mornington Peninsula: working from home and can't get past level one tech support for over 10 days now.
Bought new contract from pre paid hoping it was modem or sim anomaly but it was the network.
Keeps dropping from 3G to H then off all through the day and sometimes only gives a minute of signal.
It was previously ok..started on 21st May.

I was sending messages to the united states and was wondering why i wasnt getting a reply. When i went to check my message status every message sent to the united states had failed turns out its a network error. I am unsure when the outage started but for me its been since the 17th May, sencond time i have called and was given a response was they do not know when it can be fixed and that i should try everyday. When i asked that if this drags on futher, i am concerned because im paying for a service that isnt working, i got a response of nothing much they can do.
3 Jun 2011 10:21:52 PM: There is something you can do..........contact the TIO, details at the top of the page in the How To Complain tab.

Vodafail then have 10 business days to respond to work to a mutually agreed resolution, in your case I presume end of contract.

both my wife and i have vodafail and as a joke we sometimes send each other messages (while both in the house) and most often it takes a day for the other to receive it.
also when trying to call i am diverted to her message bank right away as if the phone is out of service however it displays full service then the voice message is delivered a day or 2 later, epic fail

18256 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Triple FAIL!!! at 2 Jun 2011 08:52:59 PM
I can freely use the Internet any time of the day with next to know problems but I cannot send or receive texts for the last two days regardless of my location. When anybody calls my phone rings but I cannot hear a thing, when I attempt calls I don't even get as much as a dial tone!

When I bought my iPhone 4 it wasn't activated (something I was told to do myself on numerous occasions over a long weekend only to discover via the internet they are to do it for you) and I couldn't use it for the first four days it was in my possession.

I used to be able to send a text to vodafone to get updates on my Internet usage etc and I can no longer do that either.

I changed from optus for similar reasons and I am one hundred percent pissed off at vodafone an ready to chuck in my contract!!!!

Wife and I been with this ridiculous telco for 21 months - counting down the last 3 months to go to the only usable network in Australia. Just called India to try to get out of the contract. "I am so sorry for the inconvenience..." "stop", I said. "Listen - one purpose of call - can we get out now". Transfer to a specialist... checked network coverage in our area - it's perfect, of course - stupid me. In the end... nope, must wait to end of conttract.

I recently realised that none of my SMSs to the USA were being
transmitted. For about 5 days I was sending messages that weren't being sent.

First I called vodafone (which didn't help), and then went to the Vodafone shop twice. It was only after two visits and an hour wait that I was
informed that the system that sends SMSs from Australia to the USA is
not working properly. They also informed me that they had *no* idea
when this issue would be resolved.

Vodafone has failed to inform their staff of this issue as well as their customers!! Of course, this issue isn't listed on their website.

This SMS problem has being ongoing for at least 5 days.

Then for the privilege I was barred from outgoing calls because I went over my cap. DISGRACE!!!! They wont drop the restriction until I pay up but i haven't even been billed yet!
I will be demanding a refund if they take that $2000 and a release from contract. ** UNACCEPTABLE **

We purchased a phone for our son for Christmas 2010. We were able to recharge once. After that every attempt failed. Both on the internet and via customer service. No-one can work out why. We are so sick of listening to the voice activated software, that eventually tells us the department we require is closed. Basically we want the phone unlocked so our son can use his phone via a decent provider. We purchased this phone for safety purposes, not very safe if he cannot use it. On another matter, my mobile was with three mobile (now vodaphone) and is now basically useless unless within 30 km of the GPO. I have tried calling them and every time they have hung up on me. I cannot say politely what I actually think of the Vodaphone service.
Back to our son, who is in Year 7, he just wants a phone that works so he can text his mum and dad and check his favourite sport results via the internet.
Please help us, my brain will explode if I have to listen to the voice activated software or inane attempts to resolve the problem.
Thanks

25 May 2011 10:31:52 PM: 2 things: make a complaint here: http://www.tio.com.au/ComplaintForm/ComplaintFormS1.asp

that takes 10 minutes and they will let you out without fees etc - just complain hard enough and explain yourself.

Secondly, I'd by a cheap mobile outright (you can get a cheap nokia for $80, then an Amaysim sim card. It's got cheap rates without any chance of billshock.

I don't have Amaysim, I have TPG $50 plan which gives you $1000 worth of calls/text, but you can go over the cap which means risk of billshock.

Goodluck!

recived and tested new modem - same speed of around 1mbps. Asked the same sales guy to organise the return of the supplied modem.

18092 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is you tell me at 23 May 2011 07:58:10 AM
I joined up on the business plan of vodaphone last year( so I can claim some calls back on tax), I received a brand new sony xperia x 10 @ $80 per month plus Insurance and internet which came too $100 per month. July was when I signed up for it, I recieved a threatening letter late september demanding $200 that was overdue and any failure would result in a mark against my name on the crediting sytem. After informing the powers that be and paying them the said money owed,I then informed them that I will not pay a bill until I have received one in the mail and not before ( a small charge added for paper bill but worth it!). Then my phone started playing up, y'know, miss calls, line drop out, internet stalling, programs failing. This I could handle, putting it down too latest gadgets bugs. But then the ph would just turn itself off for no reason, sometimes Im on a call , sometimes on the internet, sometimes on its own accord. It got so frustrating that I took it in for a service around the 20th of december last year, where the shop kindly gave me a loan ph to use in the meantime ( a nokia slide ph worth only $150, with only a tenth of the gadgets that I had on the xperia and the screen size dropping down to a mere 1 inch) and I was grateful for the staff for the ph for calls! I received the phone about 14 days later( missed out some super new years eve shots), had the ph for about a week and same thing was happening, ph was turning itself off. (The staff at the shop were very understanding to my frustrations and assisted wherever possible, supplying a new battery thinking it was battery failure, sitting on the ph talking too Vodaphone I.T. etc etc) I took the ph back and I informed them that the same problem was happening in that the ph turned it self off, the staff just gave me that "Oh Yeah " Look, like I was making it up, but as the staff member was holding the ph it just turned itself off, it was funny to watch the expression suddenly change too " geeez, he's telling the truth" Look, lol, I had too laugh. Anyway, they sent the ph away again, and three weeks later I received the ph off them, all I did was go home and try too turn the thing on and this time it just wouldnt turn on, took it back and even the staff were flabbergasted, they tried changing batteries, plugging into the power but whatever they tried the ph would not turn on. they were on the ph straight away, explained what had happened to whoever it was on the ph and I got instructed that another new ph would be sent out in a week or 2 on their express urgent delivery,. Well I hate too see slow because I received the ph in 6-8 weeks later, but the ph wouldnt accept the sim card, the staff tried and tried again, but nothing. That ph was sent back and I rang them about 4 weeks after that to discuss my bill which was $200 overdue again, I explained to them that why should I pay a bill if I dont have the ph to use, I was prepared to pay some of the bill for the ph calls but I refused to pay the full amount until I received my sony xperia x 10 back which I had signed up for! I was then told that my bill was scrapped and that I could do a swap ph, so swap my xperia for another ph, the gentleman helped me to choose a ph and I chose the HTC Desire HD in replacement for the xperia ( The reason why I hadnt received the xperia is because they were out of stock and it never entered into anyone's mind to inform me of this). A week later I called vodaphone and asked where my new HTC ph was? I was then informed that the staff member I spoke too didnt have the authority to do the swap and I would have too wait for the xperia. Well folks, here's the situation, I have been using this loan ph since december 20th of last year, out of the $100 per month I have had 3 months swayed, I am still yet to hear from vodaphone or anyone in what is going on with the ph I signed up for?? So the good news is Im getting FREE ph calls, the bad news is no phone!

I'm in a bit of a pickle. When you dial my mobile number, my mobile rings... no sweat... problem is, if I miss the call, it goes through to someone else's voicemail message. To top it off, my mobile does not notify me that I have a message to retrieve. I dial 121 and apparently, there are no new messages! I know there are as I have left messages myself. I contacted customer service and as you would expect, it is as simple as turn off, turn back on. NO IT IS NOT!!! Even after removing the battery and rebooting, this problem still exists. I am told to contact customer service again between 8am and 8pm tomorrow as no-one can help me now. What happened? Where are my messages going? Will I receive the other lady's messages?
19 May 2011 11:39:39 PM: A similar thing happened to me when I was with Vodafone. When someone rang me my phone wouldn't ring and it went to voicemail but I never received a message. Vodafone didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it. If they still can't fix it then go to the TIO if Vodafone doesn't let you out of your contract. Then you can switch to another provider.

Goodluck!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
20 May 2011 11:57:00 AM: This is a problem. You should not need to go to the TIO every time something bad happens. You are abusing a system meant for legitimate high level escalations like medical/life threatening/100% Vodafone's fault. I am pretty sure they won't say no to a replacement handset or an alternative. It sounds like it would be the phone to me. You were probably told to contact the operations centre later due to skeleton staff at late nights (anytime after 8pm depending on locations) The Vodafail moderation team SHOULD NOT be releasing TIO contact detail nor promoting it the way they do.
20 May 2011 12:52:27 PM: Umm.... 11:57:00 AM if voda doesn't let you out of your contract and won't solve your problem then you go to the TIO. It says clearly on their website.

"The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is a free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia with unresolved complaints about their telephone or internet services." http://www.tio.com.au/default.asp

AND they release their contact details on the front page of the website

I told them my reception was now almost non existed and had deteriorated in last few months and they ended my contract without cost to me. I cant see why you all cant do the same. Speaking to staff at a store, they told me to stress to the customer service people on 1555 that the coverage HAS GOT WORSE IN LAST FEW MONTHS.

I am now back on testra after a 10 year hiatus and can i say not only is it cheaper (something i thought id never see) than anyone else, it is also fantastic coverage.

18007 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VODAFONE IS THE WORST at 17 May 2011 01:52:52 PM
I recently posted about been sold a phone charger that broke my phone.

After reading many posts from others experience constant hassle with Vodafone (all of which were helpful posts), I contacted the TIO. They emailed me back within hours and told me that because it wasn't a contract problem, I need to contact consumer affairs.
I did so and was told that because I had no receipts (the gentleman on the phone was very understanding and said that he too wouldn't have kept a receipt for a phone charger) there was nothing they could do, but it was worth lodging a complaint anyway.

I did so, then contacted Vodafone. I was on hold for a surprising 7 minutes. I was first put through to sales.. "Ohh you wish to purchase a new mobile?" My response "NO I would like the mobile phone that is damaged due to your sales teams POOR product knowledge replaced.." His response "We can't do that, you need to purchase a phone." I responded with "Why should I fork out extra money when I am without a phone because of your sales team that didn't know the product they were selling.." Their response "take it up with the store.." my response "I have numerous times, and I would again, however, the store is currently undergoing renovations and it doesn't state when it will re-open.." their response "so take it up with another store. They probably won't deal with it though, because it wasn't their mistake.." I continued to keep my cool and politely asked if I could speak to a supervisor.. The CSO responded with "they can't help you either.." again politely I said "please transfer me.." and eventually he agreed.
I was transferred, held for not even 2 minutes, somebody started to speak to me then suddenly, the line went down.
I called back and went through a similar thing, but this time was told to save my money, pay off my outstanding credit and the problem would be solved and I could sign up on a contract and get a new phone.
If I could pay out my outstanding credit, I would do so in a heartbeat, however, I am unemployed and don't have the money to do so. I am however on a payment plan, so it's not like I'm not trying or just ignoring it.
I couldn't get over the tone in the mans voice.
Eventually, I hung up.. I called again and asked to be transferred to the complaints department.
The lady on the other end was SO kind and actually made me feel bad for putting in a complaint. She asked what it was about, I told her and she said that she was able to take the complaint or I could be transferred to a supervisor and he could take it. I asked to be transferred.
The supervisor, also very polite, took my complaint, said he would pass it on and if anything could be done about this, they would contact me, if not, he was sorry.
I said I highly doubted anything would be done and didn't understand how Vodafone weren't willing to fix a mistake they mad. $50 added to my bonus bank to purchase a phone that DIDN'T Work from day (a phone that is now in a tip somewhere because when I contacted them about this, all they could say was pay $50 and send you're phone off).. And $50 loyal credit also doesn't cut it for me.
Not when I'm without a phone and missing god knows how many job opportunities.

I also emailed vodafone yesterday morning after all this was over to complain.. Surprise surprise, no response.

Does anyone know of anything else I could do? Consumer Affairs have said that they don't believe they can help as there are no receipts and even though I have emails from Vodafone and myself about this, it doesn't state where the emails come from..

PLEASE HELP ME! I am so close to ripping my hair out!
17 May 2011 05:24:46 PM: Did you buy the charger using cash or credit card? If a credit card it would be on your statement.

Can the store issue you a duplicate statement? They should be able to, transaction records are usually maintained by stores.

Have you tried the Vodafone AU facebook page? See what they suggest..........

Apart from the above I have no other suggestions.

Anyone else help this chap?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
18 May 2011 01:37:51 PM: It was purchased in cash, so I can't even use statements and I can't go into the store because it's under renovations and doesn't state when it's re-opened.

I have spoken to consumer affairs and they want to help, but because nothing was kept, there's nothing they can do!

Looks like Vodafone wins this one =(

Thanks for your advice though =)
19 May 2011 10:41:12 PM: I feel your pain but you really do need to keep receipts. Otherwise it's your word against theres and I don't think they'd be willing to fork out credits without any evidence that it even came from the company. Also, how is a staff member selling you a charger 'poor knowledge of their product'?

18003 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extremely fail at 17 May 2011 10:18:39 AM
Call dropouts, 3G dropouts (turning off 3G works for call reception and calls are much more reliable), terrible throughput/speed for internet browsing regardless of location - i've never even come close to using a quarter of my monthly allowance as pages time out all the time!
Vodafone advise my speed issues should be fixed in about 3months, but only for the 1 location they would allow me to provide... my house address, where I don't use 3G!
17 May 2011 10:47:56 AM: Gosh, that's useful isn't it..

I had forgotten to pay my bill, they usually bar the service, but NO- this time they COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED my service without even barring it!!
Anyway I paid it up, yesterday, she said that in 6 hours MAX it would be working now, 19 hours later, they say it will take 24 hrs from now... HOW CAN THEY DO THIS!!!??? How can they disconnect it without barring it first?! Seems ridiculous!!!

my wife recharged succesfully on the 8/5/2011,she placed $30.00 in her balance as she recieved a msg to recharge before the 10/5/2011. Once she did this she had confirmation that she recharged with $30.00 as the phone msg advised her recharge was successful. less than a week later she goes to call me only to have a voice tell her she has insuficiant funds. she has 56 cents in credit which mind you she had before recharge but has been msging ppl till she went to call me.my wife rang pre paid customer support only to be told unless youve still got the voucher we cant help you, who keeps there voucher after confirmation they have successfully recharged. They told my wife is she can find it in the rubbish bin though the rubbish bin was emptied last week.So there quick to say to her even though you rang recharge number how do we no you recharged, so there calling her a liar to, mind you this is call center in india or wherever they are. Yet they couldnt exsplain how she was able to msg ppl over past 3 days on 56cents but were going to investigate cause they were losing money, but yet they buggered up my wifes credit but are not willing to investigate to where or how its gone missing, only exsplanation they can give is that my wife is lying.Il fight this and will join action on vadafail as when i had broadband contract they were shocking as to is my phone service with them as just me alone vodafail have cost me over $1200.00 in calls due to drop outs and very poor service let alone no covrage, wheres there upgrades they claim to have made. Ps maybe we front up to new c.e.o place i have his address to his place see how he likes been placed in a corner.

17982 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Promotion Call - Melbourne Suburbs.... at 16 May 2011 04:03:16 PM
Haven't seen anything simular on the net yet.. YOU MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING>>>OR EVEN COME ACROSS THE SAME GUY.....

I am having the same issue with Vodafail as anyone else. No coverage, constant calls to Customer Service etc.

Listen to this...

I was on $130 Business Unlimited Cap.
Due to low coverage at my add. they reduced it to $99

It even got worse, so they reduced it to $79 unlimited 2 GB Plan.

2 Weeks ago received an SMS from Vodafail, saying due to " July 2011 network upgrade" they applied 50% waiver on my plan for 3 month.

So I will be paying something like $40 for unlimted plan. (2GB is sufficient)

IT GETS EVEN BETTER.....

Last friday 13th May 2011 received a call from a BLOCKED number...
It was VODAFONE... The lovely gentleman introduced himself as VODAFONE STAFF and told me he has got a great offer for me....

I was curious and I went with the conversation - as I know already the deal I am on is due to the lack of coverage, frustration, endless calls to and from customer relation team - so I was wondering how come they can't see that on my account....

Anyway...He asked me for the PIN etc. etc.

He told me ... He can see that I am a HIGH SPENDER and he would like to reduce my plan.
So I asked him oh ok, how much am I spening at the moment.. He told me around $130 per month ... ( not sure where he got that figure from)

He then said yes for this particular mobile number THAT is the average you are spending..

NOW when he said what the mobile number was - I started to be very suspicious.. HE was looking at my Vodafone PREPAID NUMBER that does NOT EXCIST since 6 years... :-)

I asked him to check the coverage at my address, (Vodafone already knows about my area that there is no or poor coverage)

It took this gentleman over the phone not even 2 seconds to check the network coverage...and said, yeas you have exceptional coverage...

THIS IS ANOTHER HIT>>> He then asked me what time is the best to come and visit me at my HOME to talk about signing up for a plan... He would send someone to come and visit me...WHAAAAT???!!!

I asked him wow is that something new....? There was no answer to that, he persisted for me to give him exact time and day that I am available....

Asked him where he is located, as I would like to visit him and he said MELBOURNE CITY Call Center... I said, I am not sure that there is a vodafone call center...And his answer was ..........( a suburb approx. 8km away from the CITY) so not IN MELBOURNE CITY>.....

The ALARMS in my head went off, and I asked to speak to a Supervisor.
Spoke to him immediately, and confirmed that they are not a VODAFONE Call Centre, they r just a shop... VODAFONE DEALER ( selling phones and other stuff) .... He kind of was putting it back on my and said...well you have given us the PIN number so we can look into your account....
Well, I did yes, only under the understanding that he was calling from VODAFONE Call Centre.... and not from a dealer shop somewhere in the suburbs.....

He of course appologized, and said sorry about that etc. etc. etc.

Thought I might give you a heads up on my experience... A new thing vodafone is doing? I am also taking this further with vodafone, as I am concerned about my privacy - as those people introduce themselves as vodafone call centre staff where they r not.

18 May 2011 06:41:31 PM: Reported this issue to Vodafone...Today I was meant to receive the call back regarding whats been happening. They haven't put any notes etc. on the account.

They telling me now we will call you now within 24 hours. A JOKE!!!
31 May 2011 08:13:05 PM: I had something very similar happen to me at around the same date. I'm based on the gold coast and a caller gave me the same intro but highlighted the fact that he was "not trying to sell me anything". As soon as he said that, alarm bells went off and I became cold towards him. When he felt that I was onto him he toned down and asked if I was happy with my infinite 45 plan, I said yes, he asked if I was looking at getting any additional phones, I said no. Then he ended the conversation. It sounds like dealers are fishing around using the vodafone database of customers. MAJOR PRIVACY ISSUES - ALL CUSTOMER MUST BEWARE!

17978 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Massive Fail at 16 May 2011 12:06:10 PM
I spent two days trying to get through to Vodafone to order a new phone and sign up for the $45 plan(I was on the $65 plan) after they sent me a txt stating I would get 3 months free if I upgraded phone now. I thought why not, I needed a new phone and wasn't getting the value from the old plan so thought I would save a few dollars.

2 months later I am being charged more than what I originally was paying and no 3 free months. The customer service at the other end was no help at all and wanted to try and charge me $20 to change my plan. I'm currently waiting for a manager to get back to me but think this is going to end up with me having to complain to some higher authority. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

16 May 2011 01:22:04 PM: Easy ---> Go to the TIO, details found on the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

20 May 2011 01:21:52 PM: Again DO NOT advise this. Why are you giving these details out when it is not designed nor available in this situation. This must be a legit high level escalation THIS IS NOT. It is not life threatening/on going abuse from staff/advising completely wrong course of action etc this is a problem that can be solved by a manager within Vodafone. Easy-----> Go back to the call centre and just ask for a manager nicely.
20 May 2011 03:57:55 PM:
At 20 May 2011 01:21:52 PM, you are a complete pratt of the first order.

Why can't the Vodafail mod team advise this? Is it because you say so? Are you a higher authority? When does something become legit and high level? Is it when you say so?

The OP received some good advise and one that he/she should follow.

What time does your shop close tonight?

17965 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VERY at 15 May 2011 02:55:23 AM
I've been a loyal Vodafone customer for 12 years. During all the network difficulties, I stuck through Vodafone & not once complained.. I constantly told people how good Vodafone were.
I went into a Vodafone Store to purchase a new phone charger for my Nokia N97. The salesman told me that they didn't have the N97 in stock, however, a Motorolla charger was exactly the same.. I purchased the charger.. I mean, a sales person is supposed to know the product they're selling right?
The charger worked on my phone for a day & then completely pushed in my socket.
I went back to the store & they told me to contact customer care because there was nothing they could do. I listened & did so. After spending over an hour on hold, my call was finally handled. After half an hour of been transferred back & forth, I was told that I needed to take my receipt into the store & get my money back..
Now, 1- I didn't care about the $20. What I cared about was the fact that I would now be without a phone, which meant I couldn't be reached, which could have resulted in missing job opportunities.. I was unemployed & only receiving Centrelink payments, so I couldn't afford to purchase a phone.
2- When somebody is working in Sales, they are supposed to have an understanding of the product they're selling. Why should I have gone without when it was Vodafone's mistake?

After a week of trying to fix the mess, I was told I could have a Nokia E63 for free. I was happy with this BUT then.. The day I received my new phone, I instantly had nothing but trouble with it. It would constantly freeze, or turn off, or at times, delete everything, like it did a reformat of some sort.
I contacted Vodafone only to be told that I wasn't covered under warranty as it was a free phone & that it would cost me to send it away.

Again, why should I fork out for Vodafone's mistakes??

I have been a loyal customer for over 12 years now. I purchase credit on a fortnightly basis.. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for a contract due to a bad credit history, so I can't even go about getting a new phone that way.

Does anybody have ANY suggestions as to what I can do to actually get a phone that works?
I tried my luck with Vodafone & asked for an iphone, the refused.. I asked to go on a payment plan for an iphone, again, they refused..
So if anybody has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

Oh & I left out the best part.. Originally, Vodafone offered to fix my N97.. Something I was satisfied with. When I explained I purchased it from a friend of a friend, they asked what Network the phone was originally locked to. When I answered with Optus, they wanted nothing more to do with it & said that it couldn't be done..
I thought Vodafone would appreciate the fact that I'd actually unlocked a phone so I could continue using my Vodafone simcare.. $80 down the drain..

Vodafone claim to be huge on Customer Loyalty, to care so highly.. Well Vodafone, where's the customer loyalty for someone who has been loyal to you for over 12 years & to somebody who is now left without due to YOUR mistakes..

after 2 months I have been told the network is being improved. I still get charged the same per month rate but i can't check my email, surf the web, use google maps . why am I paying this money again ?
14 May 2011 07:32:16 PM: You have two choices - ring up and complain and they will offer you 3 months free - complain more and the offer improves.

If this is not your preferred solution and you want your contract cancelled - complain more and cite poor network coverage, call drop outs, delayed SMS's poor data speed and state that they are not providing a useable service. Then they should let you go without penalty - then go to a decent telco (I hate to say this but Telstra).
17 May 2011 09:47:05 AM: I got 3 months free also, but it's been just as awful... i went from sat morning to mon arvo without being able to use my phone AT ALL. terrible... epic fail

I transferred to Vodafone but because I had tried to sign up over the phone and the computers crashed they said they would call me to finalise the contract. No call. I then went to the store and they could not organise an account because the person I had contacted on the phone had started the account. They said they would call. Of course they did not. I then contacted over the phone and got an account which they said was finalised. Then I got told it was not finalised and that they needed some further ID. I then received the phone but they failed to import my number from my previous carrier so I got charged by two companies. My phone then died and they told me to upload new software which I did. It died again and I sent it off with notice I had uploaded software. Three weeks later - guess what - they uploaded software. It died again. I am informed it goes back three times before replacement. A loan phone is given. It does not charge. I take it back and another loan phone is given. It does not charge. Is this crazy. I want to support Vodafone but expect some reciprocation.
14 May 2011 07:04:01 PM: Good luck to you my friend.

Tried to get an unlocking code for my vodafone phone. Rang and sat on hold for more than 15 minutes, was finally told that I had an unusual phone and that they would calculate the code and send an txt in the next few days. Needless to say, I never received the message and now have to start all over again. Probably cheaper to buy an unlocked phone as it is not in their interest to unlock mine.
14 May 2011 02:52:59 PM: try going to vodofone.com.au/unlock and try unlocking from there if unsuccessful, then you need to ring vf customer care, if they don't have the codes, then they speak to your manufacturer ie nokia as they supply the networks with the codes, if it is an iphone then they contact apple and ina few days you plug it ito itunes
14 May 2011 02:54:22 PM: I mean vodafone.com.au/unlock

for the last two weeks i have only been getting reception 30-40% of the time, i can never use my phone- receive calls, txts, send txts, etc, i cant connect to the internet, i cant do anything, and its infuriating to think this is the kind of shit i am paying for. come to think about it, it has been unreliable since the grand prix. a friend has the same problem. initially we pawned it off to the crowds and all the phones/signal interference, but the problem has been lingering! what is going on i've had enough.

I live and work 6.5 km from the centre of Melbourne. My reception is at best 2 bars but most time one bar or no service. I can not make a phone call from anywhere in the office or home without the possibility of the phone dropping out.
I travel to many countries - I can not get reception in these countries where 3 Optus and Telstra can get them.
I have moved my sim to other phones and the issue is the same. - so its not the phone which is an iphone
