26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9062 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is outrageous at 30 Dec 2010 12:21:51 PM
this has been going on for far too long now, a large company like vodafone should have rectified this ridiculous problem promptly and chaos would not have escalated to this. I will be ending my contract if they dont have something to offer for compensation!!!! I have so many calls needing to be made for work related issues, i ALWAYS need my maps and internet and the expensive cap i am on means i'm paying for SWEET FUKALL but my own FRUSTRATION? haaaa ive never seen a company descend in reputation so quickly. I have an Xperia, anyone who says its the phone itself or the complainants are jumping on the whinge wagon are as dumb as dogsh!t....this site is for customers, not people who work for vodafone! GET OFF and stop using our space!

9057 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is poor service/coverage signal at 30 Dec 2010 12:08:22 PM
i can never get signal where i live it has been like that for awhile now.. i try to call and it drops out.. i get message 3 days later or not at all... i'm not happy with how they went about cutting my phone off and not telling me until it happened... i also try to tell them this and they are rude and hang up on me. i have also had a cusomter service person say rude stuff to me and ask inaproprite questions.. i don't want to be with vodafone anymore and i have called them and they said they will call back within the time they say and never do it is normally like 24 hours later or 2 days later that really it stupid if they can't do what they say when you join the company...

Poor reception, calls continually dropping out (it's not uncommon in the course of 1 converstation to have to call back 3 times!), IM working intermittently, not receiving all emails to the blackberry, texts being received up 48 hours later and internet access a joke! I want out of my contract!

9029 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Customer un-care at 30 Dec 2010 11:12:59 AM
1. Customer service is horrifically slow, and gets worse. Just got off the phone to 'Lara' who can never solve my queries, after waiting a bit for a customer service rep they said they will call me back in 30 minutes plus! Pathetic. When I was with Optus even as a lowly prepaid customer I never waited more than 5 minutes and was greeted with excellent customer service from a real person.

2. Network issues. People have complained about calling me and going straight to voicemail, but I had my phone with me at the time and didn't receive the call at all. 3G data speed for even the most basic apps, both in my hometown of Perth and on a recent trip to Sydney is very slow about 40% of the time. Unacceptable!!
Also, a few times a week, a new SMS I'm sending will refuse to send. Unacceptable!!!

Thanks for setting the site up, there were times I thought I was the only one!

9016 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is extreme at 30 Dec 2010 10:52:08 AM
Call failed is a common msg on my phone, not to mention a couple of 4 hour complete outages (this was for the whole of WA). Also a work colleage and myself were on different calls in the same vacinity of each other and the calls failed. I want out of my contract, I have never had such a poor service from a "professional" orgnaisation. I've rang vodafail 3 times, first time the recording said it would call me back and I wouldn't lose my place in the queue. I rang at 4pm. 10:30pm I got a call back, person I spoke to transfered me to a different department, that was closed, recording said "call back later" and then hung up on me. 2nd time I waited 20mins (the call actually stayed up) listening to music, then the recording changed to ringing. I listed to that for 8 minutes until I hung up. Third time I hung up after 25mins. I have 5 months of my contract left, I guess I'll just have to take the pain and transfer to Telstra, at least we will get service......

9011 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is NO FAIL at 30 Dec 2010 10:47:13 AM
30 Dec 2010 10:48:49 AM: Never complained about NextG coverage or performance. Optus coverage is ok, but performance is lacking. Vodafone coverage is woeful and performance is worse.

All 3 have terrible customer service, but that is another story.
30 Dec 2010 10:49:58 AM: 9000 complaints in a short time sort of suggests there is a problem. Even having the CEO apologise suggests that the problem is there.
30 Dec 2010 10:55:56 AM: This guy is delusional - to blame the complainants. He probably is connected with vodafone and this again explains their customer service attitude. 30 Dec 2010 11:27:05 AM: i have the same problem with optus. calls constantly drop out, cant get recepetion in my area, etc all the probs ppl are having with voda. when i rang optus to complain that im paying for something i cant even use their suggestion was that i should to a different area if i wanted reception at home and refuse to cancel my contract
and if the same is happeing with voda as ive had with optus for almost 2 yrs maybe it would be cheeper for me to use a telstra home line and scrap mobiles all together.
30 Dec 2010 12:27:27 PM: It's very difficult to conduct business away from the office if the services you paid for and were promised are not delivered. We should complain. We can only stand in one spot in our house to get reception. Even then it drops out. It is pointless have any internet access on our phone it doesnt work. My partner and i have spent thousands of dollars with Vodafone, with expensive international phone bills and always going over our caps. As soon as our contracts are up we will be leaving, even with only 4 months left it is still redicuously expensive to get out of our contract!

I live in an area where my old telstra phone got full bars of coverage. it was one of those $20 ones you get from woolworths. then it broke, so i went and got a nokia E71 on a vodafone plan; $29 a month and i get $150 worth of credit. so far, i have never once been charged $29; more like $65-$120. i find this ridiculous and whenever i call vodafone i go through about 7 or 8 different branches in 3 hours before i get frustrated and hang up. this has got to stop, its disgusting for a phone company to act this way!!!!!

8844 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is constant dropouts at 30 Dec 2010 05:11:29 AM
If for a moment you city folk think the Mobile Broadband is sporadic i the major Australian cities, I would invite you to experience the absolutely hopeless service that I experience on Vodafone's Mobile Broadband connection in Broome,WA.,I would dearly love to try other ISP's but as a pensioner I am financially restricted in my disposable income. So I have persevered,it is virtually impossible to connect from 2pm until well after 11pm, and then the service drops out with stunning regularity, making for an all round frustrating experience, in attempting to rectify this chaos I have on numerous occasions used the various advertised telephone numbers, to gain some assistance and advice, the call center operators located in the Phillipines and Egypt, find it hard to comprehend that Broome is not a suburb of any Australian Capital city but is located 2500 klms from either Perth or Darwin, this realisation brings the operator to revert to stand Vodafone scripted dribble and zero resolution to my problem as their brain goes into melt down unable to cope with the geographical vastness of Oz and the distances involved.
All in all unless I am prepared to disrupt my normal sleep patterns and use this service from 2am until 6am, the chances of staying connected to Vodafone's mobile Broadband, well I have more confidence in winning Lotto, and that does happen either!

Been on Three for 4 years without a hitch. Had to go onto Vodafone as I was told at the shops they were phasing Three out. I have never experienced such slow, dodgy, work on occasion mobile internet. It was only then I did some research and found out how many complaints Vodafone has been receiving - some for the same issues I am experiencing. Best things is, do just signed up in Dec 2010 - looking down the barrel of 2 years of PAIN!

I like doing things in person customer service included. I don't like that you can not pay bills in store. I also do not like that you can not cancel your account instore, I mean the least they could do is let you break up in person. So here I am using up my skype credit calling vodaphone from Sweden all because I am unable to register for online services. Well it is hard to receive a temporary password via SMS when the sim card in question is in a broken USB Internet modem in a bin somewhere in Perth. Also your on hold music has bad reception, great advertising.

8681 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Hopeless at 29 Dec 2010 06:44:33 PM
I have been a Vodaphone customer for several years now, easier than switching companies. For the last 12 months my dissatisfaction with their service, or lack thereof, has been growing. I have a prepaid mobile and live in an area that is supposably fully serviced by Vodaphone, so why is it that I can't get reception!! I have to stand in a particular spot in my bedroom or lounge to get enough signal to talk to anyone without "dropping" out, which happens with frustrating regularity. It then costs me again to phone back. I have complained and whilst the staff at the local Vodaphone shop are lovely, they are not able to help, can't explain why and basically haven't a clue. No offer of extra credit either to cover the cost of all the extra calls I have to make. Have also tried the mobile internet service but gave that up in a hurry, same thing ,no signal, no service. Will be switching to another Company next week.

Did you know most of the phones can be tethered to your computers and you can use the phones data plan instead of buying internet as well.. apart for the data issues already experienced regardless of the modem you dont ned to pay twice for internet! and every month look on the net and upgrade to the latest plans with no penalty or extention to your contract so you always have the best deal. If your not on the Infinity plan now you must be crazy! There is no reason why we cnat get the best for our money.

8668 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Rediculous at 29 Dec 2010 06:25:19 PM
I bought the Samung Jet via Vodafone store. The service at store level was great. However when i started to try to connect with Live, Compass and just the internet via the "Smart" phone i was told by Vodafone they do not support this model for these services. Even though it was heavily advertised for months. They directed me to Samsung who said they do not support the Jet for software issues contact the service provider.. Around i go for 9 weeks. Finally was given a $250 credit to my account for poor customer satisfaction. But i still have the phone and still having the problems. I was told.. not my a vodafone rep but of the record by Samsung, to take the phone back multiple occasions and for identical service issues and Vodafone will assist in exchange to a similar or better model and you pay the gap if its a better model. So im taking it back now for the second service for the same complaints that cant be fixed because the manufacturer and vodafone dont support this phone! As far as the credit goes i have to call every month and tell the whole story again to make sure the credit is applied every month. continued poor customer service. Samsung said they never advertised that they will support the model phone. So its my fault for buying it without making sure its going to be supported? a Smart phone not supported ?? i just dont understand. Good luck fellow Vodafail customers hope you complain and complian until you get the resolution your looking for. Dont forget the other avenues of complaint. Enough ppl complaining eventually we will win.. When has a customer ever had to fight for service?

8656 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is After 13 years with them....... a Big FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 06:11:32 PM
I have been with them for ages and always had the top plan because of my job. 6-8 weeks ago I signed up again for another 2 years and this time got the I4 as it is the latest phone. I thought that my reception may get better with a better phone, I had a Nokia 6300 after smashing the N98 that came with the contract, but alas I was wrong.
The funny part of this is that I live 4kms east of Perth City and work 1km North of the City. At home the service drops out all the time, but at work I get at least 3-4 bars.
We signed up for our home phone line with the deliberate intent of not making calls and using the mobile, but I have had too use it because of bad or no reception. This is now costing me more money due to their incompetence.

BIG FAIL VODAFONE.... :(

8624 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Failing beyond repair at 29 Dec 2010 05:27:35 PM
On the 17th of December I purchased a mobile broadband modem and sim card service after being told that there was Vodaphone service where I was to spend Christmas so that I could Skype my daughter in the USA. Only to find out that I had to drive another 25 to 30 km to Mount Barker WA to get a weak signal and that kept breaking down. Today,29th of Dec I went to the place that I purchaesed it only to be told that to cancel the service I would have to ring 1300 650 410. I have now been on hold being told to hang in there all afternoon , for about 4 1/2 hours. So not only was I lied to I have been treated with utter contempt. It is ok to sign up and purchase from shopping centre outlets but not to close or cancel a service. I hope that nobody has been trying to contact me on my land line this afternoon

After a couple of months of "putting up" with the inconsistant reception levels, i attempted to contact Vodafone Customer Care. Other than the reception issues, i was also having problems with my phone. The first time i called, i was on hold for over 2hrs and 20minutes - then i hung up and tried again. Waited another 30minutes then discussed the issues with the first consultant i spoke to - who might i add told me i was "speaking to the wrong area". After being transferred around, i was told to go to the store to have the issue resolved. At the end of it, i managed to get a different phone and a new plan (after arguing my case). The reception is still terrible. People call when i don't know they're calling, calls drop out etc...now on hold again to Customer Care...

I run a small business and have had issues for months, issues such as poor connection, no connection, even in city areas, the house, the car, Subiaco Oval, etc. Voice calls dropping out and not being connected at all, text and picture messages being delayed for any thing from 15 minutes to 24 hours, to not being recieved at all..
As a small business owner and operator, I am very dismayed at having to pay for a service that I am not getting, there is no customer service at all. I went to a Vodafone stall in th mall at Karrinyup and queried increasing the limit for internet use (before al this happned) and was told that I would have to call Vodafone (the service area was based in India!). What sort of company can not assist you face to face and then refers you to call some one in India (I acually didn't end up doing it, as calling those call centres is very painful)and now I am glad I didn't. I think I wil almost definatly be contacting the ACCC (apparently if you complain to them, they can get you out of the contract hassel and money free).. I may also consider signing the web page for class action.. Thank you for this web page, muchly appreciated. I look forward to more information as you have it.

I have sick family members and now need contact urgently. I have been with VF for 10 years but now I will pay whatever it costs to unlock my phone and change to another provider, just not good enough at all. I cannot afford this extra cost and all my family will change as well.
5 Jan 2011 03:30:29 PM: Have since gone into the store and the poor customer service guys are coping so much flak, not their fault they were not even informed before customers were on their doorstep. They just switched me to 2g instead of 3G and now fine. Good on the guys in the shop for keeping their cool. Vodafone have a lot to answer for though, and as soon as credit is done am changing as a result of the lack of respect they have shown customers.

These telco's have a real issue with answering customer's inquires, and the first step is to simplify their answering systems by having people answer calls and directing them to the appropriate section. Automatic answering systems do not work.

8563 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Vodafone is a joke! at 29 Dec 2010 03:59:12 PM
I have had poor internet service since I began my contract. It drops out more times than it is connected as a student who relies on the net for research it is starting to impact my studies. Trying to contact Vodafone to sort this out has been nothing short of a complete waste of time. I spent an hour on the phone only to be told by a foreign call centre operator "I don't know anything about that" and who tried to put me on hold again. My partner tried after this and spent two hours on hold. Got through to someone only to be transferred to another department and put on hold again. At this point he succeeded in getting put through to the cancellation department. Win for us, right? Not really. He got a recorded message saying "the department is shut" and vodafone cut him off. He tried again yesterday, demanding to speak to a manager. After getting passed around several times he finally got someone who at least agreed to waive my next bill but said to ring back tomorrow. He rings back - spends 40 minutes on hold - gets put through. Gets cut off. Instead, I try sending several emails. The only response I get is "we are closing the correspondence". This is beyond a joke! We are at our wits ends now and have no idea what to do. I have contacted the ombudsman and have to hope that will accomplish some real results.

8560 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Big time at 29 Dec 2010 03:53:23 PM
I have moved to Vodafone few months ago. My wife also moved to VF since. we have had terrible coverage at home. Always missing calls etc. Thats fine considering coverage. What I am pissed is that when people call me it doesnt come through to my phone not even voice mail. I am very disapponted and now all my calls are forwared to a Telstra Prepaid (which i brought only for this reason) number. My wife doesn't want to carry another phone, so she keep missing the calls. Being an radio engineer my self, I could understand that there are areas holes even in the city center but missing calls even while in coverage is unacceptable.

Oh, my wife has been trying to get her password reset for over two weeks now. She is furious with the customer care, they simply taking people for a ride. A simple password reset due to VF system failure takes over two weeks to fix !!!

8557 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is not the only network with problems at 29 Dec 2010 03:48:24 PM
If you created websites for all other networks you will get the same type of feedback... we all know that you're not the only one facing these problems... i think that it is a waste of energy, time and money to do all this... not one network is perfect... and if everyone including I put this much energy, time and money into bigger issues and more important issues... we can do some GOOD. Im sorry but i find this whole thing to be more of a joke.
29 Dec 2010 03:51:49 PM: Interesting opinion, I disagree with most of what you have said but we live in Australia and as such everyone is entitled to that opinion. As with the latest update on this site:

"29 Dec 2010 - Breaking Update
I started this website hoping to gain the attention of Vodafone so that they acknowledge our problems and get them resolved. This morning I took your complaints and suggestions to Vodafone CEO Nigel Dews. He and his team are well aware of our issues and are focusing on how to solve them. It is now up to Vodafone to announce how and when your specific problems will be solved. Vodafone has clearly taken notice however this website will remain open until our main issues are resolved. I am appreciative and humbled by the support and coverage this website has achieved yet it is a testament to your complaints and contributions. We understand that this may be a frustrating time for customers however please remember to be calm and respectful to Vodafone employees and each other. We cannot personally resolve any of your issues but we can keep you informed and direct you to the right people."

So to me, this site is achieving more then you realise.
29 Dec 2010 03:52:08 PM: hear hear...all the networks in australia have their pros and cons..am with vodafone and there is nothing wrong with my service.
29 Dec 2010 03:53:52 PM: Yet I am on the NextG network for my 3G needs (both phone, mobile broadband etc), and it is faultless. They may not have the best call centre support, but none of them do. But network wise the NextG network is faultless.
29 Dec 2010 03:59:48 PM: I think they already knew the problems they were facing before. Especially with the merge, It makes sense that there will be a few hiccups.
29 Dec 2010 04:08:05 PM: I certainly think this website is great and not a waste of time.It seems it was needed to let Vodafone know what it's Customers really thought and take action. The fact that Vodaphone is still signing people up to substandard network without warning them is criminal. It's easy to have the cheapest plans to attract Customers but you need a network that will support your current Customers as well as your new ones and their increased demands.
29 Dec 2010 07:54:15 PM: Sorry, your opinion is irrelevant - of course no network is "perfect", and no-one expects them to be. The issue is quality - a reasonable expectation of minimum service. This is the reason I left Vodafone a few years ago.
30 Dec 2010 08:24:34 AM: well this is all interesting,I can honestly say I have when with optus for around 14 yrs never experienced the amount of problems I do with vodafone, this being said it is also only since they merged with 3 that our problems started,It was also explained to me by someone from another provider that when these thing happen you have more people using the network which creates weaker signals, but i also need to piont out that when I was originally with vf many years ago they were abs crap back then as well so it does look as though not a thing has changed there,I will be leaving them again never to return.

Half the calls made to my phone dont make it through because there is usually no or little reception at home (and my last 2 houses in this suburb - Duncraig). Making calls is just as appauling. My last call got disconnected after 2 minutes because of reception drop out. Called up to order pizza last night, and it took about 3 times for them to get my order because the phone kept breaking up due to bad reception - even when outside!!

When I called up vodafone about this, all they recomended was to change my sim card at a vodafone store. It changed nothing! Vodafone reception is crap! Thinking seriously about changing

Perth metro area, close to CBD. Poor and often NO signal. Rarely receive 3G. Call drops. Delayed text and voicemail messages (often delayed by several hours). Atrocious customer service call centre (not the fault of staff). Wanted to change my direct debit details, they told me to do it myself on their website. I told them I had tried that but their website wasn't working and was even mire atrocious. Devaluing existing customers. If Vodafone spent half as much time and money improving their services as they do on advertising and marketing, it would never have come to this. What a shame.

8464 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Appallingly failish at 29 Dec 2010 02:01:42 PM
Vodafone changed my plan of 3-4 years to a different setting. This meant all my previous 'credit' and 'hours' disappeared and I suddenly had to top up each month cos the credit was taken from me. I didn't ask for anything to be changed.

Spent one hour and twenty four minutes on hold to be hung up on.

Rang the business line to see how fast they get served and was answered in less than 20 seconds, to hear a group of men having a giggling conversation before the phone was smashed onto the receiver.

Spent another half an hour on hold to speak to a non-english speaking woman who was convinced that I was responsible for changing my account details, even though I haven't done so in the 3-4 years I've had the same Sim/account.

8444 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Bad and Good at 29 Dec 2010 01:35:25 PM
I got a brand new Desire HD on 2 years contract as it had 2gb data plan, phone failed within 3 weeks, sent back to Vodafone, they sent it back 2 weeks later saying "Uneconimical to repair" and offered nothing, shop was just as bad, it took me 2 hours on the phone to vodafone to get them to agree to replace the unit and credit me for the month. I was staggered they just said tough, nothing we will do, 3 weeks into a 2 year contract and they say bugger all we can do!! I had to spend 2 hours refusing to accept that until I got someone who had the decency to say "Yes, this is bad service, this is what I can do to fix that for you" I have to wait till the new year for the new phone as they have no stock, so I will see if it can last longer than 3 weeks this time.

Talk about false advertising. They have sold me a service that I can not use to check my emails, use social networking or even use a map on.... basically i have a glorified touch screen fone that was described as a smart phone..... and then the hassle of getting to talk to some one who knows anything.. i've been hung up on, transferred to closed sections, and misinformed time and time again. When can some give me an answer... well, how knows, but i know this, i'm using the 30 cooling off period to send back this piece of crap and changing telco's.... enough is enough.

I did not have a problem with Vodafone until this year. My old phone stopped working and when I got a new one I have had nothing but problems with the network. It stopped sending and recieving text messages, then it stopped showing missed calls. When I asked Vodafone (politely) how to fix the issue they fobbed me off and told me I was doing something wrong. Eventually a staff member slipped and said I was not the only person having problems but they could not fix it. As soon as I said I was switching carriers the problem suddenly got fixed,(for about 2 weeks). I ended up having to switch to another carrier just so that I could use the phone.

8393 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 10/10 FAILED at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:45 PM
I was with 3 mobile and I was very happy with them. I was told by operator that I should move to Vodafone as they had the Samsung phone I was after immediately and they were not sure on time span with 3. I was advised that the service and network was the same as they were now the same company. From the day one, I had problems from the phone not even working in some areas of my house, and did so previously. The calls cut out during a conversation. This is not very proffessional when talking to clients. I sometimes get messages later (eg: a day later), which again could mean losing the chance of a job. So when you call someone back and they say, I did not hear from you, so assumed you weren't interested so I got someone else....NOT GOOD. So when calling Vodafone for assistance, I could not even get through to a live operator, and went throught the computer bimbo and by the time I went through all options, it hung me up....I just gave up in the end and thougth I just have to deal with what I have. Now that I find this is a regular occurance, I hope something will be done finally. If I had a choice, I would go back to 3, at least their calls dont drop out and the phone works at home, no matter where I am.

8341 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Quite the fail! Limited service & out of contact expense at 29 Dec 2010 12:09:27 PM
I have been with Vodafone since mid 2009 and have had nothing but issues with my Blackberry Storm.

The only place I get reception is outside of our house. I actually do not bother making any phone calls from my handset as often as I used to with another network. It is highly inconvenient. I've attemped to lower my cap numerous times and have given up after 40mins+ on hold. When I finally speak to someone, they advised that they are going to charge me $70+ to lower my phone cap, which hasn't happened to me before.

Their sim cards burn out too easy and I've had to go to the store to get a new sim for my phone. It is way too inconvenient to hand my phone in for a service, so I just put up with it.

I need to exit my contract because Vodafone do not compare to other services in the long run. Vodafone is certainly a Voda-dud.

The day that signal dropped for a lengthy amount of time was when a member of my family was critical in hospital and Vodafone became VERY VERY unreliable.

Not impressed Vodafone.

Aside from non-existant reception and lousey customer service, are my husband and myself the only ones that have had epic problems getting our mobile phones unlocked from vodacrap? We bought our Nokea E71 phones from vodacrap outright, on pre-paid, now we want to change carriers, and vodacrap have said they are unable to unlock our phones. I spent all last Thursday on the phone to them trying to get some answers and got no where.Has anyone else had this problem ?
2 Jan 2011 09:55:12 PM: Yes. I was assured when I bought my phone outright that unlocking it would only take a few moments online. It actually took a month of calls and emails. It's now finally unlocked - woohoo! Getting the service cancelled and a final account sent looks like it will take a while too. But I'll be rid of them eventually....

I have been with Vodafone since 12 December. I was previously with 3 and experienced the usual service issues but always had excellent customer service. Since my contract with Vodafone began I have had little to no reception. My first day the entire network was down. I received a free wifipocket with my contract and have never had reception to be able to use it. I called customer support after trying the usual troubleshooting options and after being on hold for about 30 minutes rused the option for them to call me back. 2 hours later I get a call back to be told I need to be transfered to another area was put on hold for 5 minutes and when i eventually got through I managed to relay my name and the nature of my support issue and then the reception dropped out. Any calls I make or receive only last for 6 - 8 minutes before dropping out due to connection error. Had I known about this site earlier I never would have committed to a contract with this provider. Good on you for initiating this site and allowing people to stand up and be heard!!

8260 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Please correct last entry to: EXTREME VODAFAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:49:25 AM
Mobile Broadband: I was with crazy John for mobile broadband.. had no problem till they joined with Vodafone and convinced me to go on a plan with Vodafail! since then i been having constant connection and billing problem.I once got a bill of over $ 400 for some huge figure of data usage on my laptop!! even the employees at Crazy John's (who by now have become friends due to the repeated visits to have my unending problems fixed) were surprised that a regular user who never exceeded 3GB/month for months could have used that amount in 3 days.. and that was when i didn't even have my laptop and was in the Pilbara!! This bill was finally waived after a lot of haggling.
THEN, i bought an AppleMac and got no connection. They sent me to Apple Store 3 times and every time the Genius Bar told me the problem was not my laptop but their modem. I finally proved to them that their modem was incompatible with my Mac and they waived the cancellation fees and canceled my contract. BUT i was NOT REFUNDED for all the payments i made over 6 months and did not get any service or internet access!! Not only that! After the cancellation i got a bill for $78! after several over 1-hour long arguments on the phone I was told not to pay the bill and that they will cancel it!!
I am now with Virgin Broadband with a $49 usb modem and $19/month and NO PLAN.

MOBILE PHONE: I keep having bad connection, getting wrong bill and over-billed and getting them cancelled after having to put up with LARA and her boring and dull messages and spending hard earned dollars to wait while they tell me i have moved up the line. I must have spent 24 hours or more in total being put on hold or talking and trying to explain my problem to operators.
Another example of typical Vodafail: I had suspended my service for 8 weeks last October and got monthly bills for over $140 for the same period! After the long "please hold" etc i proved by giving the time and name of the person who suspended the service, then they said i don't have to pay the bill! Another bill was for a horrendous amount because i was "supposedly" using live something which i didn't even know what it was let alone use it!! Again after long hours (and dollars) of haggling they waived the sum!!
It used to be one of the best service providers. I have been having similar problems with my line and broadband in Egypt as well. I will definitely cancel all my Vodafone connections phone and broadband both in Egypt and in Australia and will pass the word around to my friends who seem to also be having problems.
Let's do it! let's get a class action against them and ask for compensation for all the time we wasted on the phone instead of being productive and earning some good money and all the stress and frustration they have caused us.

29 Dec 2010 10:51:37 AM: Lets do it.. i m in the same boat as u!!!
they dont keep up to their obligation and refuse to cancel my contract
lets get the class action
hopefully telco giants start respecting the consumers and treating them with honesty

Again after long hours (and dollars) of haggling they waived the sum!!

blah blah blah blah..cry us a freaking river...all the networks in australia suck..how about u build ur own networks..then we can see how good they are.....
29 Dec 2010 11:24:03 AM: I moved to telstra after being with vodafone for 10 years, Now im saving $10 a month and dont have any issues.

Vodafone have done this to themselves. Ever since they start suing Ericsson's for the hardware issue a few years back they stop maintaining the network which has caused it to goto shit. the last 6 month with vodafone has been terrible.

8236 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is i don't understand this questoin at 29 Dec 2010 10:21:57 AM
I've left Vodafone for Virgin after finishing a two year contract. Never was I able to receive 3G reception on my phone despite being told that my area had 3G coverage before entering the contract. I told numerous customer service people, who's response was to look at the Vodafone coverage map and say "well you area should be covered by 3G". Well it's not. And not one of those people decided to do anything about the feedback I gave them to suggest that 3G was not working properly in my region. Swapping to virgin on the Optus network has put my internet speed through the roof, compared to what it was while I was with Vodafone. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

8212 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is late messages at 29 Dec 2010 09:52:22 AM
I am getting tired of not receiving messages on the day they are sent to me or when I send a message to people they don't receive them until days later. SMS is supposed to be quick but with over a 24 hour receivable time I don't think this is very satisfactory. Get your act together vodafone and fix the problems.

Hi i've been spending the last two days trying to sort out this mess Vodafone has put us in. I haven't been getting decent coverage for well over 4 months now. I have been to stores on numerous occasions and have only ever been referred to the incredibly long waiting call centre. So with some time on my hands decided to sort this mess out with them, believe it or not i actually got somewhere yesterday however when i had to talk tot he Loyalty Department was cut off and unable to get a hold of them again. Now on day 3 of trying to sort this crap out and am currently sitting on hold still to speak to the loyalty department, just about to hit an hour wait as well. This is absolute poor customer service no one should be expected to wait this long to sort out any issue and the staff in stores should be much better trained and equipped to deal with issues.I know if i was to give out such poor service at my work we wouldn't have a company to work for much longer, due to not being able to keep any business.

8177 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty Bad at 29 Dec 2010 09:20:01 AM
Everything was fine until mid December, after I received the SMS apologising for the network issues that I didn't notice. Since then I've been unable to make phone calls from my home in the Northern Suburbs, which led to substantial additional cost on Christmas day calling rellies overseas - the calls would have been included in my cap, and multiple failures on sending and receiving SMS which has disrupted meeting friends visiting from the UK.

I don't experience call drop outs as much as others but what's frustrating is that when I use the internet. I work 1 km away from cbd n the data transfer is so slow, I give up. fair enough, everyone might b on it, but it's so slow, I end up getting msgs like lost connection - try again. funny that, I end up using my friends internet who's with 3 n his loads way quicker than mine. pls Vodafone... do something...

Numerous call dropouts on a regular basis. Incoming calls are frequently met with an "out of mobile service area" message. My phone is a business phone, and many customers have problems consistently contacting me.Interesting point on a different subject. I was with telstra and accrued a "On hold" time of 16 hours over a 3 week period. I requested and received compensation for labour charged at $80 per hour for 16 hours that I was on hold!! I received a cheque from telstra for $1000 along with a letter of apology. Might try that with Vodafone!!

7924 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is It's getting rediculous! at 29 Dec 2010 03:39:15 AM
I have been with them for a couple of years on pre paid bit changes to a cap.,my phones always dropping out of calls or reception in full coverage areas I'm always recieving texts late or people are getting them days later from me, my phone won't ring but I'll have missed call notifications randomly pop up out Ov no where plus Ive had my phone about4 months now got it online Bcoz stores didn't stock iPhones for a while took almost a month to arrive no sim card whith delivery plus my first bill weeks after receiving the phone was $500 Bcoz I supposedly sent over 2000 text within 3 weeks I'm 17 with a part time job, just finished school and the only person I really text is my boyfriend to say im on my way to his house etc or my mum so this is getting beyond ridiculous the customer care people some are nice enough but they are no help they con u into paying more to add extras on your cap so you won't go over .. That's if you can actually get through to some one

7911 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Ridonculous at 29 Dec 2010 12:59:07 AM
I have had frequent problems with getting and maintaining reception across many suburbs in perth metro and have slow/no Internet even when I have full coverage and 3G.

Also, vodafone has got to be the worst company for customer service as I have wasted hours upon hours trying to get through to someone on many occasions only to be told that I have been put through to the wrong department. Although I wait on hold to be transferred to the right department I am yet again told I have reached the wrong department, usually at which time the reception drops. Such bad customer service had meant that I have not been able to transfer my old number although this is a relatively easy task at other service providers.

Vodafone needs to pick up their game.

Further to my other complaint on this site, I must add that Vodafone mobile broadband issues in Subiaco/Jolimont, less than 6km from City Centre, has affected my earning capability. I am unable to send through jobs online that I do because the download is slow even when I am able to keep a connection for more than 30 secs. I have missed a couple of deadlines now.

Not Acceptable!

I miss a lot of calls. I have calls that drop out. When I try to ring the customer care line, I get placed on terminal hold. (40 minute minimum to speak to someone reading a que card.... another 20 or so minutes to speak to someone not reading the que card, but also clueless. What a waste of time.
28 Dec 2010 11:21:07 PM: Just you continue posting and watch what happens. I look forward to your protest.

NOT ONLY DO I NOT GET SIGNAL IN MY HOME, MY CALLS DROP OUT, I HAVE PROBLEMS SENDING SMS AND MMS AND THEN TO TOP IT ALL OFF, AFTER I RING UP AND HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT FOR OVER 3 AND A HALF HOURS TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ( IN INDIA????!!) IM TOLD THAT THE LINE IS CLOSED AND TO CALL BACK, THEN I RING THE NEXT DAY AND FINALLY GET TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO TELLS ME ADJUST SOME SETTINGS AND WILL RING ME BACK TO SEE IF THAT HELPS.... BUT THEN I GET WOKEN UP AT 6AM BY VODAFONE CALLING ME BACK... AND AFTER TELLING THE LADY ON THE PHONE THE TIME SHE SAYS SHE WILL CALL BACK, AFTER MISSING HER CALLS TWICE I THEN RECIEVE A CALL BACK THIS MORNING AT 5 AM!!!!!!!!!!! WAKING MYSELF AND MY NEWBORN AND MY HUSBAND UP!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY NOT ONLY WAS I NOT IMPRESSED- I WAS IRATE!! ESPECIALLY SINCE CALLING UP VODAFONE AGAIN TO ASK ABOUT MY COVERAGE ISSUES AND BEING ACCUSED OF LYING AS APPARENTLY THE CALL CENTRES DO NOT OPEN THAT EARLY THE MAN ON THE PHONE RUDELY TELLS ME!!!
21 Jan 2011 04:27:15 PM: It's not just Vodafone who do the 5am calling trick. I've had Telstar do it to me, too. Because, you know, the entire country is on Eastern Daylight Savings time, remember?

Can't have 3o seconds conversation without dropping out, so frustrating. It happens all the time, and I pay a lot of money. I am on 129 dollars monthly business plan and I am not able to talk on my phone neither from my home or my office and most other places. This is anything but acceptable.
