26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

14806 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Zero Reception in Perth at 28 Jan 2011 08:50:27 AM
Picture this - Perth Esplanade. For all you non West Aussies smack bang in the centre of the city next to the river. No service for 20 minutes :/

I had to use my mates telstra to make a call. Sad.
28 Jan 2011 10:05:49 AM: Very sad indeed!!!

May be worth recording other instances and then try their help line on 1555 (good luck......take a packed lunch) and then take it from there.

14795 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is A BIG TICK ON FAIL at 28 Jan 2011 01:02:23 AM
Nothing new, the same as everyone else. Can't make any calls, delay in SMS, meanwhile all this is happening when my mobile indicates full coverage. Seriously,I suspect major hardware failure in their system and some serious issues with their networking devices. Something has gone wrong, and I do not know what it is. Does somebody actually know what is causing all these setbacks?
28 Jan 2011 10:22:34 AM: Suspect it is lack of investment for infrastructure over the last few years and the success of their marketing campaigns.......sadly biting them in the bum now!!!
29 Jan 2011 01:22:03 PM: i think it is the merge of equipment with three last year

I am so sick of not having reception and not being able to connect to vodafone network!!!!!!! I pay $80 a month for a smart phone so I can access internet anywhere and yet I am never able to actually use it, in turn wasting $80 a month for nothing. Everytime I call nothing is ever resolved. Vodafone need to lift their game or let people leave their contracts. Its ridiculous!!!! Very angry!!!!

14775 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Shockingly bad at 27 Jan 2011 07:13:18 PM
Even though I am within 300 metres of a cell I keep losing the network.
It is so bad now that even Vodafail can't get through to me so they send their monthly accounts to me via my Telstra Mobile phone which I have for country use since there is no coverage for Voda statewide.
I originally went to Voda because they had a good deal on iphones. All I can do with my iphone3g is to use to access the internet via my own in house wireless system and also to play games.

I cannot make calls that are longer than 30 seconds and if I send a text I might get a reply within 3 hours or more.

My contract finishes in July. I will go back to Telstra. It may cost more but at least I will get full coverage.

I am with 3 which is now lumped in with Vodaphone. I get poor signal strength, dropouts, being charged for data roaming as a result of insufficient 3 coverage.
27 Jan 2011 09:40:15 AM: 3 coverage is different to Vodafone coverage. So really this posting should not be on this forum. 3 have the choice of Telstra GSM, Telstra NextG, 3 Mobiles 3G network and Vodafoen 2g Network so if your not getting good coverage chance are you just dont have good coverage at your house. Admin should remove this post
27 Jan 2011 10:45:49 AM: they can post here, 3 and vodafone are the same thing now

14708 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Completely ridiculous. at 26 Jan 2011 10:38:22 PM
Just moved to a new house in kinross. Signal indicator consistantly indicates 3g coverage with fair to good signal strength. You wouldn't know it from the complete inability to send or recieve any form of data. I transferred from 3 to vodafone on the promise that coverage and service would be of the same standard thay I had recieved from 3, as the two companies were in the process of merging. What a mistake that was...

I don't know what avenues I have available to me, but I will definately be exploring all my options now I've discovered that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.
28 Jan 2011 09:23:49 AM: Wow, did I right this in my sleep? No. I'm the same, live in Kinross, swapped from 3 to Vodafone blah blah blah. I missed a very important phone call on Australia Day that cost me a lot of money. Not happy Jan!
1 Feb 2011 07:49:02 PM: Just up the road and same issues, VAU called me and told me I was in a low signal area, I said "What PERTH? this happens all over not just at my home" they then said "we will ring you back in 30 minutes" Guess what, that was 2 weeks ago, still waiting...
When you DO get through to them, make sure you ask and get their name, ask them to spell it for you as well, also ask them to confirm that the call has been recorded, they are allegedly recording them all, I think this is to cover them when the CSR says things they shouldn't, so you should be able to ask them to get the recording and match the claim and responses.
Oh Candlewood by the way, RIGHT near the comms tower !!!

TELECOMMUNICATION OBUDSMAN DOES NOT CALL YOU BACK, THE GOVERNMENT IS A WASTE OF TIME, LETS ALL TURN AGAINST THEM ,
26 Jan 2011 12:02:53 PM: You lodge a complaint online with the TIO. The TIO will send you a reference number and contact Vodafone with your case. Vodafone then have 10 working days to respond to you, if they do not respond to you then you contact the TIO again using your original reference number and it becomes a level 2 case (meaning vodafone get fined more money).

I held on for three hours and 15 minutes listening to their hold music and the message to "hang in there, we'll be with you soon" before giving up. Surely it's not unrealistic to expect your call to be answered within a decent time frame. I only rang because their website didn't have the link it said it did and now I've got a response from their on-line help which contradicts their website!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14667 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Getting worse at 26 Jan 2011 09:57:42 AM
Initially wasn't experiencing all these problems I keep hearing about, but progressively over the past 3 or 4 weeks I have been experiencing increasingly worse problems with internet/data, delayed receipt of voicemail/sms messages, and now when I try to make a call I get the 'call failed' message a few times before I can connect. Have just over a year remaining on my contract at $79/month!

I am in Perth CBD and there is no vodafone coverage. I havent had any reception all day. I have tried to contact customer service to no avail. I have been having problems for the last six months and I am trying to cancel my contract with them it still has 8 months to go. I cant even get a cancellation price out of them. They are pushing me department to department with no joy. I have had a sim swap. New phone everything but the service is just plan appalling. Is anyone else in Perth having major issues?
25 Jan 2011 05:39:53 PM: Yep! Just contact the TIO. Thats what i have done. Vodafone are supposed to call me back within 10 days of receiveing the information from the TIO. Its been 8 days and still havenet heard anything.
25 Jan 2011 07:12:49 PM: ive been over 10 days and havnt heard anything. fuckers
25 Jan 2011 07:14:18 PM: Should be 10 working days, and if you haven't heard anything back in 10 working days, you need to contact the TIO again with your original reference number.

14614 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is I can't write it without profanity at 25 Jan 2011 02:26:14 PM
I was one of the first people to port my mobile number across to Vodafone many many years ago and have remained a loyal customer through numerous contracts for both personal and business use. I have just entered into an agreement for a Samsung Galaxy Tab to pick up my email on the go like everyone else.So far I have missed meetings, not returned calls to clients in a timely fashion because I didn't get their voicemails or follow up emails or text messages. My credibility has gone out the window.I can't be a successful person let alone a easily contactable parent or spouse or family member or friend or boss. Call 1555 Customer Service for a resolution if you have a spare half hour or so to go round in circles with the Lara IVR. BTW ,I have never ever posted a comment on any forum since the commercialisation of the internet, never been in a chat room or subscribed to any social networking site because I didn't believe it would do any good to have a whinge. All that is out the window now , please take this post and if it helps make this Company accountable for their performance to the people of Australia I will have done some good for today.
11 Jan 2012 11:00:28 PM: I now have ported across to Telstra and have not had one call dropout in 2 months and the data speeds is on average 4 times as fast. I feel a great sense of relief that these losers are not f***ing with my life any more !!

14558 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Not withholding their end of the bargain at 25 Jan 2011 10:03:14 AM
This is the email I just wrote to Vodafone.

I would like to detail to you my displeasure in your service.

I have had an iPhone 3G for a year and a half and all was fine up until around September last year. I was in Sydney Metro Area and I noticed I was starting to lose reception and not receiving calls or SMS until days later. I am now in Perth Metro and the situation is untenable. Issues below
No 3G Coverage
Echo in long distance calls
Missed Calls
No service when service indicator has 4 bars?
This phone is my only means of communication and my business phone. This situation is unacceptable and I want to cancel my contract.
I have now escalated my complaints as I was expecting these issues to improve, they have not.
My action is to now contact Vodafone directly and asked that you, Vodafone and I agree to end the contract as your company is not living up to the terms of the contract.
My next action if no response from Vodafone is to contact the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

Please contact me any time to discuss or send me an email with the details.

I am so sick of LARA. seriously lara, get your act together and put on somebody real when i call up about problems. on most occasion my bills are wrong and i get overcharged, charged for my 'free' calls between vodafone and 3. the people that are supposed to help are useless and most workers in the stores have no idea what they are talking about. i never have reception and i live in the cbd. my voicemails arrive hours later. im sick of you vodafone, ive been with you way too long. i cannot wait to get out of my contract! only 15 months to go :(.......
25 Jan 2011 01:43:05 AM: hi there, if vodafone aren't providing the service outlined in your contract you are within your rights to cancel now without exit fees, if you have problems contact the TIO. Good luck.

After finally getting everything sorted out and my contract cancelled I received my last bill from them... hounding me for a single measly cent! That's right - $0.01! Seriously, these people are tapped!!
24 Jan 2011 04:38:11 PM: Hahahaha, if they posted that bill it cost them 45cents + the work involved. If they emailed it still it is a waste of resources. Either way congrats on getting out of your contract :)
24 Jan 2011 04:41:32 PM: It was an email but still... who spends that much time to compile all the graphics in that email and so on over one cent? Honestly! But yeah it feels so great getting out of the contract. If anyone is still having trouble I would totally recommend going to the TIO. They sorted everything for me.

Having challenged Vodafone regarding service blackspots and providing suburbs where service was unavailable, I was stunned to be ask to be more specific and detail actual roads.

Further I was told "that it is unreasonable for Vodafone engineers to check to this degree". However it is mandatory for me to provide this level of detail for my claim to be acted upon.
24 Jan 2011 02:17:39 PM: Sort of like a reverse 'Catch 22' if there is such a thing.

Advise as below, if you have tried to contact Customer Care without success or not to your satisfaction the next step is to contact the TIO.

14432 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is How to Terminate at 24 Jan 2011 12:20:21 PM
I was able to terminate my contract due to poor 3G coverage at my home and workplace. I had an Iphone 3GS which relied on 3G coverage to fucntion correctly. Further to this when I was in range the 3G performance did not conform to the standard definition of what a 3G service should represent. You must specifically inform VFone that THEY are in breach of contract and that they have not been ablke to rectify the problem and subsequently you want the service terminated. They will send you a bag to return your handset. Insist on speaking to a supervisor the moment you have been answered. Your other option is to call the business support line (Aust based) and ask to be connected to priority care.. Hope this helps.. Remember Vodafone must perform thier side of the contract just as much as you must perform your side.. If you dont pay they cut you off, so how is it different if they dont perform you cut them off!
GOOD LUCK...

14421 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is at 24 Jan 2011 11:12:31 AM
Consistent drop outs are my biggest issue and finding difficulty to get coverage most of the time. I contacted Vodafone this morning and waited on hold for only 1 min before i was connected to a staff member in Mumbai. He was friendly, sympathetic, and very helpful. He has organised for my enquiry to be escalated which i know is what most say and never get results, but we will see, he said a report will be filed and i will be contacted once complete which he said should take no longer than 5 days. He credited $75 to my account for the inconvenience of the poor service over the past couple of months which doesn't sound like much, but i was honestly expecting nothing. We discussed the option of me being able to withdraw my contract if the issues with the network aren't resolved in 2 months which is when he advised it should be back to working properly. The report that will be completed will assist me in gaining the desired result, is how he worded it so will wait and see what happens from here. Just wanted to let you know my story as i am a very frustrated customer aswell but feel a little better after having spoken to them.

Well for me over the years I have found that I do not receive so many calls.. The phone does not ring nor does it register a missed call. I find out later from the people who have been trying to call me. Usually it is the same story. Hey why dont you answer my calls. Most say that the phone either rings out or it goes to message bank, Even though I do not have a message bank. So over the years I would have not received 100 of calls.

14385 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very at 24 Jan 2011 08:49:38 AM
I cannot make or receive phone calls in my own home. Everytime I receive/make a call, I get cut off, have static or just can't hear the person on the other end, which then results in the call being cut off. I then need to go outside and try to find a spot where I can call, and even then I may have problems. Vodafone have confirmed that I can't make calls inside my house. I signed up with vodafone in November 2010 and have complained and asked to have my contract cancelled, but to no avail. Vodafone are now in the process of 'investigating' why I can't make/received calls in my house. I find this unacceptable as my mobile is my only communication as I don't have a landline.

Been with Vodafone for 4 months now with a HTC Trophy, Havent had a single problem. Data connections are rock solid and are usually either 3G or HSPDA. Voicemail work brilliantly and I always recieve an SMS alerting me to any missed calls.
The only things I would complain about is Lara but as I havent had any need other than an initially inquiry to use the phone support service I cant really complain. Keep up the great service Voda
24 Jan 2011 03:25:04 AM: Vodafone used to be excellent due to their competition starting turbo cap plans giving people more than what they paid each month in services however as people on this website and other disgruntled vodafone users have started to realise the bonus service is useless due to the fact that if you go into a problematic coverage area you can't use any of ur included bonuses

14321 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Reliably fail at 23 Jan 2011 02:51:09 PM
I just love making phone calls with vodafail: 1st attempt, , nothing happens, the phone just says it is making call. Second attempt, you get a call fail signal. Third attempt, it goes straight to voicemail. Fourth tuyou finally get theology..of course all the while there is at least four bars of coverage showing.
23 Jan 2011 02:57:49 PM: Are you being charged for each call????
23 Jan 2011 03:00:09 PM: What sort of stupid reply is "Are you being charged for each call????" ? What is the point of having a mobile phone if you cant use the network :/ Vodafone has the worst network in the world.
23 Jan 2011 03:04:03 PM: @ 23 Jan 2011 05:00:09 PM:

If the OP is being charged for each call it add weight for the OP to go to the TIO.

Also the OP may or may not have been aware there is a charge for each call and I wanted to clarify the position.

Hope that suffices for my stupid reply.
23 Jan 2011 03:08:16 PM: Sorry my bad, I thought you were implying since he wasn't being charged, he has no reason to complain.

14310 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Slow and overloaded at 23 Jan 2011 02:15:03 PM
I live in Beckenham, WA 6107.
I had an internet USB thingy from Vodaphone for internet at home, for 2.5 years.
It was often unuseable during kids hours (3pm to 9pm) - just would not connect, or dropped out straight away.
You had to do your internetting after midnight for it to work OK (not well, just OK).
Over Christmas 2010 it just wouldn't work at all. I've now cancelled my plan, and have gone to a different provider. Still have to see if they will cancel my direct debit payments properly!
What really pissed me off is that I was with them for 2.5 years, and their service didn't improve at all over that period - they didn't put up any new towers. Also, they had no trouble setting up a new plan in the shop, but were unable to cancel the same plan in the same shop! Said I had to ring up - and we all know what that means - two hours trying to translate for "Mrs Patel" in "Bangalore" (new surburb in Melbourne - didn't you know!).

I recently got onto the "infinite 45 Business Plan" and lasted just five weeks. I was careful to only sign up on a month-to-month basis so I would not have any difficulties extricating myself. I was frequently getting the "Searching" signal or the "No Service" message in areas that are loaded with Vodafone towers. At this point I should make it clear that I was using an iPhone 4. (I would like to know what percentage of the complaints relate to this type of phone). This situation is just not acceptable as this is my primary means of communication and my business phone. I was told by the sales rep (after I had quit VF) that these "problems" only occurred in Sydney. He said that he hadn't experienced ANY problems with the exception of that Saturday when the whole of WA was without vodafone. He was using a Samsung handset so is it just a problem with the iPhone?
23 Jan 2011 12:44:02 PM: ... Oh, forgot to mention all of the dropped calls as well!
23 Jan 2011 02:39:12 PM: iPhone (and all smart phones) work perfectly on every other network. Also there has been many posts here that state that blackberry's, nokia's and HTC do also not work on Vodafone. So the only consistent is Vodafone's Crap Network.
23 Jan 2011 02:43:14 PM: There are 65% more iPhones on any network compared to any other phone. Vodafone constantly blame the iPhone, but yet people are having issues with all phones on the Vodafone network. Your friend was probably using an Omnia (not really a smartphone, hence not really bandwidth happy) so it is not really a smartphone :/

As above, all phones work perfectly elsewhere, just not on vodafone.

Sometimes i didnt get text message's that were sent to me and vice versa. The message bank messages get thru a couple of days late. Service keeps going out. They promised a 3g service where i was which is the main reason i went with them a month later i asked where was it and they said it wasnt happening now. Stuck with slow Edge.
23 Jan 2011 12:47:18 PM: It's interesting that Telstra has announced increases in call charges by charging in one-minute blocks from March just when they are expecting a mass exodus from Vodafone
23 Jan 2011 02:46:49 PM: Vodafone and Optus already charge in one minute blocks, so it is just bringing them into line with the other two telco's.

Dropped calls, erratic coverage - one minute it's there, the next it's not

Called and emailed to complain a considerable number of times and yet to speak to anyone or indeed receive a response
23 Jan 2011 09:16:18 AM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page. You will no doubt have to escalate to the TIO, but they should be able to assist you out of your contract penalty free

I bought a pre-paid vodafone as my old ph broke. Spent over 4 hours that day I bought it trying to register the phone/sim etc cos it wasnt working from the handset. When I called the call centre, because I didnt apparently have a vodafone number, the system hung up on me bout 4 times. When I finally got through to a person, their English was so bad (or they were in an Indian call centre) that she couldnt understand what I was saying and said she would get someone to call me back. She asked for my phone number to call me on...well...i gave her the number and she repeated it to me and it was wrong, tried again...wrong...tried AGAIN..wrong..tried again..WRONG!! this went on to the point where I said to her 'look, we are going to do this one more time very slowly... ' i made her repeat each number after I said it...she STILL had it wrong and i said is there someone else who I can speak to,finally i just said here is the number, shouldnt be that hard!! then she said goodbye and hung up. NO callback until the next day after I had several more hours of waiting on hold and finally giving up and going to a store...hour later and a new sim card...fixed. But now I get system alert txts 24hrs a day, saying insufficient funds when I do have credit!! arghh why oh why did i get a voda phone!!?

14225 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty bad at 22 Jan 2011 10:25:52 PM
I signed up on a 24 month contract with Vodafone in late 2009, assured that they provided complete coverage to 15 km out of my WA town. We live right near the centre of town, so until June 2010, while I was on maternity leave and sticking pretty close to home, all was okay. Then I went back to work part-time as a visiting teacher. Only one of the six schools I regularly visit has adequate coverage. My boss can't reach me when I'm at the other five. She's frustrated and so am I; I can't make or take calls from my base, 2 km from the CBD, either.
I'm originally from Brisbane and happened to be on a family holiday there until last week. During the floods crisis, I was staying with my sister, caring for her two and my three children and trying to help her move all her furniture upstairs. My husband had taken a short break with his very unwell mum and was frantically trying to reach us, as was my mum and our other sister, seeking updates and offering support. On Tuesday 11th of January, I had mobile phone reception only about 20% of the time for SMS and telephone calls. My sisters, with Optus and Telstra, and my husband, with Optus, had no disruptions to coverage at all. This made an already stressful situation more difficult. The limited coverage for my phone continued over the following four days. I've had enough, I want out.

Not a complain, but a question, please.
I have heard that "3" has or will be sold to Vodaphone and all 3's customers will be automatically transferred to Vodaphone without as much as a notice.
How true is this and do we have any legal defence?
Many thanks.
22 Jan 2011 07:10:42 PM: "3" is already owned by Vodaphone ..that is why we have so many issues related to it...they completely stuffed the software so that 3G doesn't work and being close to a tower doesn't work
22 Jan 2011 08:08:32 PM: Dont think 3 is owned by vodafone, they are managed partners

14196 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is A Joke at 22 Jan 2011 04:37:40 PM
Website is a complete joke and totally useless. Logins fail on regular occasions and the password is supposedly incorrect when its not. Unable to provide the requested information all the time and then told to ring 1555 to complete your request - yeah sure, might be completed in a week as it takes that long to get through to anyone. How is this company allowed to continue signing people up when there are all these problems? Surely this is, or should be, against the law! Minister for telecommunications - get off your lazy ass and do something about this. Vodafone customers pay your wages to.

14156 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is VERY Poor Reception at 22 Jan 2011 11:45:43 AM
No mess but lots of frustration. On my occassions, calling from outside the front door of the house to Vodafone mobile inside the house and the response was 'No coverage' whereas calling the other mobile phones (Telstra & Optus) in the house were perfectly fine. These calls were made in the Perth metropolitan (10km from Perth CBD).

When I approached the Vodafone shop, the Customer Service Personnel told me it was either a faulty SIM (which they could replace) or a faulty mobile phone unit. I did both but the problem still persist.

The real problem lies with the VODAFONE RECEPTION.

Bought a brand new pre paid SIM in QLD. Had not had a pre pay before (always had a contract) so I didnt' realise I had to register my phone. When I tried a few months later to set up roaming I had a HUGE problem.. . My phone was registered to another person and I couldn't change any of the set up etc as I didn't know the password, secret question etc. I have tried for about 18 months to explain the situation to Vodafone. My phone was registered by someone 6 months before I even purchased the SIM. Even though I have my receipt to prove this Vodafone just state if I don't know the user details they can't help me. They suggested that perhaps someone at the shop had registered my phone and I should go back there and talk to them. I was living in WA at the time and wasn't exactly going to fly to QLD to sort it out. Phoned the shop I purchased it at, they don't register customers SIM cards.
I could just get a new SIM but the number is catchy and hey why the hell should I??? It's not my mistake. On investigation it is pretty easy to register someone elses SIM card and unwittingly create all sorts of problems for the real SIM owner.
Throughout this mess Vodafone have basically said I have stolen someones SIM card. That makes me REALLY angry!!! GGRRRR Vodafone

Another grumble....Everytime I talk to someone they call me "K- ONE"....My initials are KL and obviously a lower case L looks like a One. HILARIOUS. "Yes K-One, how can we help you today"..."OK K ONE, I'm just going to place you on hold"

Vodafone's pricing is pretty good but their network coverage and speed in all non-metropolitan areas on the west coast are a joke. I'd be better off with dial up rather than use the pre-paid wireless "broadband" stick I brought. They should really be called "wireless dial-up" sticks :P

Awful reception for calls, way worse for Internet. Call to complain and get fobbed off, it must be the phone they say! Now they have a new tv ad with stereotypical white austrailians playing callcentre staff. I have never talked with anyone with an Aussie accent, only (as far as I can guess) Indian. They do not listen to my complaint and obviously have a certain monologue to follow which they do not diverge from. I want out but after paying twelve months of a 24 month contract they want their handset back for nothing. Seems very unfair to me.

Mainly very inconsistent 3G, I am in CBD and get very poor response.
Only really experienced serious call issues this week (not withstanding the December outage).
Had numerous dropped calls, inability to place SMS , but seem to receive ok (of course I don't know how many I am NOT receiving.)
Made worse by lack of local support after 5pm (call centre closes at 8pm EST)
Incorrect information about fault line being open 24 hours (still haven't found a 24 hour number).
Promises to receive call back after several hours attempting to connect were not followed through until I complained in writing.
Have asked to be released from our current contract so that we can find a provider that can provide.
We pay over $5000 per year for mobile services and do not think it unreasonable to be able to get coverage and response. Back to Telstra as soon as I get that release.

3G Internet bill is always a shock for me... Each second month is inflated, even if I check my data consumption using my Vodafone account and through SMS. I tried to explain these issues to Vodafone Customer Care guys, but they know their lesson - it's my liability to make sure that I DO NOT go over my quota. When I asked them how should I do that if their data metering is so far off, they started to BLA, BLA, BLA....not really interested to help, more interested to get rid of me. SO, what's the solution - found it. Don't bother calling VODAFONE - bunch of idi**s - CALL TIO and they will register your claim as 'inadequate data metering' or similar and give you a claim number. With the claim number, it's coming also a special Vodafone number - which is not always busy and the person answering this number can offer something without transferring you X times between various VODAFAIL departments.
CALL TIO, forget about normal VODAFONE customer service number and LARA.

13804 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is clueless at 21 Jan 2011 11:30:30 AM
I could cite plenty of grievances but the one that got up my nose the most was when I last upgraded my phone. I was already a Vodafone customer, and wanted to get a new iPhone on a contract. I contacted my local Vodafone store to make sure that they had stock and was told they had plenty, however, these were set aside for potential 'new connects'. Existing customers, I was told, would have to join a waiting list. Rang a number of other stores only to be told the same thing. You can't blame the salespeople for treating existing customers as second class citizens, because they work off commission and this is how Vodafone pays them - they are rewarded for finding new suckers to lock into contracts, not for keeping existing customers happy. I complained to Vodafone and received the customary 'fob off'. They were happy to lie, denying that this was how staff were remunerated - not realising I have friends who work there who can confirm otherwise. Don't Vodafone understand it's far cheaper to retain an existing customer than keep a new one?

I work in West Perth and live in Subiaco. Hardly the middle of the outback. However the most I can hope to get of late is a couple of bars of reception - plenty of times I have only 1 bar or no service at all. My calls regularly drop out and 3G (when I can get it) is slow and unreliable. Get your act together Vodafone - how about spending more money on the network, and less on marketing campaigns aimed at luring in more customers when your substandard network can't even support the number of customers you already have. Of course, as an alternative, you could keep up your current standard of service, and before too long you won't have any customers left.

13766 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is extreme fail at 21 Jan 2011 11:01:36 AM
Less than 2 weeks after signing up for a N97mini on a 24mth contract, I started experiencing phone problems could not make/receive calls or texts. The next day I went to take it to my local Vodafone store to have it repaired as it was under the initial 1 month replacement warranty. I got to where our local store is, to find it closed down whilst the shopping centre was being remodeled. I rang Vodafone to see if I could post it to a repairer in Perth, which is 2 hours away. They told me if I want it fixed/replaced I will have to hand deliver it to the nearest store which is 1.5hr drive away. When I signed up for this plan I also received a usb modem, but no sim card for it. I also got told that I'd have to drive to nearest store to get this. I told the customer service officer that was totally unreasonable as i work,so would have to take 2 days off (one to drop off and one to pick up),and it would cost me at least $80 fuel. He told me we'll reimburse you for the inconveinece,to which I asked how. He told me that the store will have a form for me to fill in that I can submit to ask for reimbursement. I thought this too good to be true so I rang the store to ask if in fact they do have sucha form to which I was told no. I asked the store assistant how I could go about getting it sorted without me losing time having to drive the 3hour round trip. They told me to ring the customer care number as they may be able to sort something out. So after another 1/2hr on hold I got nothing useful from them. It was 3months before the local shop reopened(no sign advertising when this would happen) and 4 months before I finally got a sim for my modem. All of which I still had to pay my monthly bill, without being able to use my new phone/get a replacement phone and not being able to use my modem.

13742 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is useless at 21 Jan 2011 10:43:15 AM
On Sunday the 17th October i was burgled and my phone and wallet stolen. I rang vodafone as soon as i realised my phone was stolen to cancel the sim so it could not be used. I rang at around 2pm and my call was finally answered at 3.30pm. The operator told me that the phone could not be stopped on weekends and that i would have to ring back during business hours. I told him how ridiculous that was and that i wanted to block the sim so i would not be charged with calls the thief decided to make. The operator said he would transfer me to some other department and maybe they could do it. So i was put on hold again and after another 90mins, at 5pm somebody else answered and eventually blocked my sim card.

Its quite humerous how it took 3hrs to get through to vodafone, whilst it took the police 15min to arrive at my house and 45min for forensic police to arrive and take fingerprints. It was quite annoying trying to talk to police whilst having 1 ear listening to vodafone on hold music.

Since then i have gone into a vodafone shop and got a new sim with my old number and i purchased a phone from the shop (after waiting 40min in a queue).

Yesterday i thought i better ring vodafone to update my billing details due to my credit card being stolen and i have now been issued with a new credit card number. I rang vodafone at 4pm and at 5pm i gave up and i decided to look in the web site to see if i could find a way to do it without wasting my time on hold to vodafone. I eventually worked out how to change my direct debit details on the web site so they are now up to date.

Today i received an SMS from vodafone telling me my last bill was unsuccessful in being paid and that i must pay it ASAP to "prevent restrictions to your service".

I have just paid the bill by credit card, it would be good if Vodafone could answer there customer hotline as quick as they let you know your bill is overdue.

After all this occuring i decided to switch to telstra. In doing this i knew i would be up for a bill for about $600 for cancelling contract. SO i went ahead with it and a few weeks later i received my final bill for about $600 so i rang up and paid it on my credit card.

The next week i noticed they had debitted it the $600 again from my credit card. SO i rang them up again, usual on hold for ever. The lady told me that she would have a look, first she said it was not an error and i did owe $1200. i said that cannot be right, so she decided to look into and ring me back. 2 days later she called back and said i was right and my credit card would be credited.
2 weeks later still no credit on my credit card, so i rang them again to see whatwas happening, on hold again for ages and finally get through to someone and he tells me it hasnt been "processed yet" and that he was going to do now and i should get in few days.
Finally about 4 weeks after being double charged i got my money back and hopefully my last dealings with Vodafone

13729 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is The worst ever at 21 Jan 2011 10:30:43 AM
This would have to be the worst service ever. I have had multiple issues with calls dropping out, poor internet connection and terrible customer service. After trying to contact them to discuss, I have still got nowhere. You spend hours on hold and then are spoken to in a condescending manor. Never again will I have anything to do with Vodafone or any other of it's affiliations.

I use to live in NT and thought my bad coverage was just due to living in the NT (everything there is poor quality) when I moved to Perth I expected I'd have perfect coverage all the time - NOT SO. Always dropping now, can hardly access the net on my blackberry. Stupid.

My husband lost his phone so I had the job of trying to contact Vodafone(ie. some call centre in India)I tried 4 times and was on hold for an average of 45 mins.
It's so quick and easy to sign up but when it comes to trying to speak to someone it's not worth the wait...I almost want to send them a bill for my time
21 Jan 2011 10:52:28 AM: So your husband is blameless in all this for being a mug and losing his phone?

13707 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Mega Fail at 21 Jan 2011 10:14:18 AM
Terrible reception, using an iPhone. Phone is constantly on 'E' service - at work in West Perth, driving up the Freeway north and pretty much everywhere except for home where we have a Wi Fi set up for the internet. Also holiday in Moore River - 1 hr north, out of 10 friends, every single one gets reception from other providers - Telstra, Optus, 3 etc, on various phones - iPhones, Nokia, Android etc BUT me - I got NOTHING! My 2 year contract is nearly over & I WILL BE TAKING MY ACCOUNT ELSEWHERE.
21 Jan 2011 10:17:07 AM: I have exactly the same issues. What a joke!

More than 2 hours on hold to Vodafail on 5 separate occasions over the course of a week trying to speak with a PERSON in customer service.
Ended up emailing my concerns, all problems that I have seen increase since December 2010: calls dropping; service completely dropping out; emails loading 2/3/4 times over; voicemail dropping out; not receiving messages at all, or much later than they were sent; poor coverage, even driving down the Mitchell Freeway! The response received from Vodafail was that my "concerns are not valid" and they have refused to release me from my contract and have said I need to phone them to discuss my concerns with a Vodafone representative...only I don't have 4 hours to wait on hold nor the inclination!
I am NOT getting the service I signed up for nor the service I am paying for. I have not received a personal apology, let alone any refund, for the considerable amount of time my phone has been disconnected from their network nor the inconvenience the above issues have caused.
Vodafone, you are rubbish.
21 Jan 2011 10:33:14 AM: upon speaking to a supervisor when i got my contract cancelled, dont quote reception near highways, it is in high population density areas that they guarantee service, ie. CBD, Airports, major shopping precincts etc.
21 Jan 2011 11:45:02 AM: The Mitchell Freeway runs north-south amongst Perth's populated northern suburbs and there are numerous 'major shopping precincts', industrial areas and mobile phone service towers dotted along its length. It is the northern 'spine' of the Perth metropolitan area.

13693 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is useless at 21 Jan 2011 10:08:14 AM
Useless service. People are always complaining to me that their calls go straight to my voicemail, even if it says my phone has full reception!! Calls drop out all the time and reception drops out and goes in to "searching" mode ALL THE TIME. I have to restart my phone to try and get service back. One of the most annoying things is the time is takes to connect to a call even though it says I have full reception - sometimes I can dial a number and it takes over a minute to connect!!

After speaking to or attempting to speak to someone who struggeled to understand me in relation to global roaming, I was informed I was on the best plan for me when I went to the UK for 4 weeks. How wrong they were considering my phone was not used. I now have a $1200 bill due to data roaming. I am also only 2 months into a 24 month contract and cannot wait to get out!

13675 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 100% Fail at 21 Jan 2011 10:00:23 AM
Every since I got my Iphone 3G back in October the coverage has been shocking - most days at work I cant get coverage unless I move around the office, I try to us the internet on phone, that takes forever to load. When I try to send messages half the time you have to send them a few times over. And most days the 5 bars cut out to "No Service" or "Searching"
21 Jan 2011 10:05:27 AM: Also I always turn the phone off, also I have to go into network and change it off 3G to not on it and that does not help, whilst I thought we were on the same as 3network customers but the girl I sit next to at work seems to get coverage and I don't???? It has seemed to get worse coverage since they joined forces? What did that make 3 the superman and Voda is just Lois Lane, no Skills.

when i signed up for mobile internet i checked the coverage at the 2 places i stay. where i spend most of my time thay said it was in broadband area and other will be in broadband in a year or so.
I always have issues with it disconnecting, or it not connecting at all. i have been to the stores and they said said it was just a bad simcard and so ive had that replaced. but it doesnt change. now i swapped by useage and the customer service guy said i could go up to $39 month for 8GB so i agreed and now it says only 6 on myvodafone. i have emailed to complain and days later no one has bothered to return an email or call. not happy.

When I signed up with vodaphone around september 2010, I got this fancy samsung galaxy S, The phone itself is sweet. What shits me is that I was told my deal would allow me 2GB of data every month. Turns out this isn't the case as I've received a bill/s for almost three times my monthly cap amount because of apparent excess usage and I dont use it that often. No more than I did with my previous provider and I averaged around 100-150mb a month. This was a real piss off, not to mention the constant loss of network, go to catch up with mates in the city, and cant call them to find where they are. Why? BECAUSE VODAPHONE SUCK MONKEY BALLS!

I am trying to change of title from my brother's name to my name. I was advised this will be done within a day, well guess what!?! It has been a week now and everytime I call customer care, I was told different story.

Waste of my time and I am just so sick of Vodafone, customer care requires more than 30minutes to answer the bloody call. They are so incompetent in answering questions and always unsure about things.

Both our mobiles drop out all the time and the reception lately has been very patchy, sometimes you need to turn the mobile off to gain reception again. Trying to ring vodafone direct is a pain in the neck, you never get to the right department, make a complaint-"you want to make a payment"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When purchasing a new phone and plan, I was told by Three rep to change from Three to Vodafone and that my friends on the Three network could still call me for "free". They have since been charged for calls made to me. Impossible to get through on phone to discuss the issue.

Reception seems to be getting progressively worse. Should have gone to Telstra.
21 Jan 2011 09:45:38 AM: i have been told the same as well its very dodgy
21 Jan 2011 12:16:00 PM: Yes the catch is you need to ensure the 3 plan has been updated. I had the same issue with my wife calling my Vodafone work mobile. We were getting charged so I rang and spoke to a 3 rep and they advised that in order to get the free calls we needed to update our plan. Couldn't see that in any small print.

Been on 3 for 18 months until my wife and daughter recently got iPhone 4s with Vodafail and seemed happy with them. I "upgraded" from 3 to Vodafail - what a mistake! The reception is patchy at best and the iPhone isn't the problem it was fine on 3. I should have either stuck with 3 or gone to the dark side (Telstra). The data rates on Vodafail are appalling. I had better downloads on Edge in the USA. The data connection is so slow that SpeedTest won't even run. Absolutely pitiful. They should be hung, drawn and quartered then burned, buried and drowned. An epic fail.

Many dropped calls. No reception or very poor reception in many areas of Perth, including my own home. SMS message taking many hours to be delivered. Sent one yesterday at around 11.30 am and it was received by my colleague, also in perth, at 7pm - 7.5 hours later!!We are a small business and rely on our Vodafone service to communicate. It has never been great, but recently it has become unacceptable. I was in Indonesia during December and was very impressed with the strong signal strength even on remote islands!
