Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

20901 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unlocking my mobile phone at 19 Feb 2012 06:08:32 AM
I purchased my phone outright a few years ago. I do not have a contract ( never signed one)with Vodafone. I am a pre-paid customer. The coverage is pathetic so i decided to move to another provider. However, it is taking the staff of Vodafone 8+ days to unlock my phone. I am still waiting. It says on the Vodafone website it is easy to unlock if you purchased a phone at vodafone and it takes 10-15 mins to unlock on the internet. Well i am still waiting after 8 days. I have phoned several times (staff in India cannot solve my problem too)and I have gone to the store in penrith three tmes( place of purchase)to discuss my problem. The unlocking code is invalid and no one is taking responsibility to solve the problem. Their motto "we are listening", it seems that NO ONE is listening to me. On Saturday 18 feb 2012, I spoke to the manager of the penrith store who has taken all my details. I am now awaiting a response from her on Monday 20th feb. Vodafone is now holding my mobile phone hostage because the support team cannot unlock my phone. I am a 53 yrs old woman and I believe that if i have a breakdown or flat while driving, Vodafone is responsible for my safety because I cannot call triple zero for a tyre change. HELP!!!
19 Feb 2012 11:20:04 AM: I feel your pain.

You will have to wait until Monday for action, if any, by VF.

If of any comfort you are not alone in getting your phone unlocked, there have been several users posting here with the same problem.

It may be that no-one in VF can assist you in this matter, in which case you may need to look to purchase an unlocked phone from elsewhere.

You are certainly entitled to take the matter to the TIO, by doing so it may make a difference.

Sadly it appears never to be easy dealing with VF.

Power to you.

19 Feb 2012 01:15:05 PM: Its all well and good (by that i mean potentially justified, albeit often offensive) for the moderators here to say that the company has unsatisfactory coverage, a frustrating customer service line (lara) and troubles with the call centre (not that i find any call centre particularly helpful). But to imply that the staff in the stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent is ridiculous. In my experience (in launceston, melbourne, sydney, brisbane, Hobart and multiple stores in many other cities) the store staff members are just as helpful as in any other retail store (or telco for that matter)
19 Feb 2012 02:37:23 PM: Huh?
Where did you gather those little nuggets from? Surely it can't be the mods post above?
I find the mods posts to be fair and just, suggesting that VFail be given the chance to correct the issue and then if the issue persists to take the issue further.
I do not see the mods post contain anything about unsatisfactory cover, Lara, the call centre, nor any implication (no matter how much I look) that stores are somehow unhelpful or incompetent!
Are you making this up as you go along........oh and what time does the store open tomorrow?
19 Feb 2012 02:39:59 PM: You're name would'nt be Nigel by any chance, and hold a high ranking position in a certain recalcitrant Telco would it?
20 Feb 2012 09:03:36 AM: @19 Feb 2012 01:15:05 PM
In my experience the staff in the Melbourne stores are compeltely incompetent and only concern themselves with new sales - they don't care if the phone they signed you up for 5 minutes ago is broken - that's your problem. They are as useless as the rest of the company.

having said this, i'm sure it's not the people themselves' fault, it's the fault of the company for not resourcing them or caring about post-sale service. the staff in stores only get paid to sell sell sell..... so who can blame them for not giving a rat's about the customers once they've signed you up.
20 Feb 2012 06:53:30 PM: haha the staff in stores dont get paid to sell. My whole experience as a VF sales rep was geared towards post sale service, thats half the reasons the stores and the staff are there. its also why they dont get paid only on commission
21 Feb 2012 10:09:20 AM: haha the staff in stores dont get paid to sell - really?
My whole experience as a VF sales rep - oh so you did sell, judging by your work title.
My whole experience as a VF sales rep was geared towards post sale service - now you have confirmed you did sell
thats half the reasons the stores and the staff are there - what's the other half of the reasons? To sell new phones perhaps or is it to look pretty in the stores?
its also why they dont get paid only on commission - so they do get commission?

More holes than a sieve.
