26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8496 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very fail at 29 Dec 2010 02:32:01 PM
I have repeated failed attempts at connection, people tell me they haven't been able to contact me for days and that my phone has been switched off which is simply not true:it is simply that my service provider is not providing service and not fulfilling their part of contract.

I am in a medical field and this morning I was trying to contact a colleague while in the apartment of an acutely unwell patient. Of course my phone would not connect me! Just one example of many I can cite.

I'm very interested in this class action I heard about. I will definitely be lodging my grievance with the ACCC and withdrawing from contract.

8493 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 200% FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 02:25:02 PM
I GET COMPENSATIONS MONTHLY 25 AUD for the REST of my CONTRACT PERIOD !!!!
read here how :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ordered 2 months ago the Htc Desire HD 69 dollar cap, started to complain after two weeks, that where ever i go no 3g at all (live in sunshine coast but any direction 100 km east, west, north or west, doesnt matters just bad reception).

I kept on complaining and complaining and would not accept the answers of vodaphone. At the end they gave me 22 months (the rest of my contract) compensation of 25 dollars a month !!!!!

SO KEEP ON COMPLAINING ASK FOR COMPENSATION UNTIL PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED, KEEP ASKING FOR MANAGERS, SAY YOU CANT USE THE SMART FUNCTIONALITIES OF YOUR PHONE, DONT ACCEPT ANYTHING ELSE, SAY VODAPHONE PROMISED YOU A SMART PHONE WITH DECENT 3G COVERAGE. THEY CANT MAKE THEIR PROMISES NOW YOU CANT USE YOUR PHONE FULLY, THATS WHY YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND YOU WILL BE COMPENSATED FOR THE REST OF YOUR CONTRACT...

EVERYBODY do it !!!! don't accept there excuses !!! Good luck, dont let you get ripped off !
29 Dec 2010 03:45:01 PM: Thanks for the advice, I'm currently on hold now and will definately give it ago..might take me a few hours of being on hold though lol

8491 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is customer service at 29 Dec 2010 02:23:02 PM
I got the vodafone prepaid broadband last month, it came with 3gb of data. the customer service staff said that once its finished i can come back and convert it to the post-paid month-by month plan. i asked them specifically if i need to need to bring any documents and they said no. when i got back to convert after 2 weeks or so, the staff wouldn't do it and gave me a list of documents to bring. they were rude and wouldn't even listen to us. The worst customer service ever!!!
29 Dec 2010 02:29:03 PM: my mum got the same problem. i got her the $49 prepaid modem & it came with 1GB. she was told the same thing about going onto the month to month internet plan. she went up to the store to do it but she got knocked back (didn't get approved). she was told that she would get a letter in the mail explaining why she got knocked back. she's still waiting for the letter. i had the month to month vodafone internet put in my name. what a fucking hassle that was. i rang vodafonefone weeks ago to have the bill sent out to me in the mail but the stupid retards at vodafone reckoned they emailed it to me which they didn't. fuck them i say.
29 Dec 2010 03:56:55 PM: Declined for credit.

8490 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pretty FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 02:22:52 PM
I have been with Vodafone for years.. I really don't know why. I think it's because now I have half my family on Vodafone for the free V2V calls and I'm stuck with them. I can't tell you how many times I have been charged for internet on my 'blackberry with free internet' plan. To call them and get the charges reversed takes a minimum of 3 transfers in their callcentre and then the problems are never resolved. To resolve this I have been on hold for over one hour on 3 separate calls. I ring, immediately on hold.. speak to someone, get transferred.. wait 20mins on hold, after describing my issue for the second time, transferred again, another 15mins on hold, someone answers and hangs up immediately without even speaking to me. Issue not resolved, another call, more time on hold. It is so bad I have literally been in tears more than once in frustration with vodafone. Now I am trying to buy a prepaid for my daughters Xmas present. I cannot load the site for days, when I do, I try to 'add to cart' and it has an error. They aren't selling this phone instore. I try again, no luck. Call online customer sales, they can't sell it to me either because it's a prepaid. Yes they are having difficulty with their website, please try again in 4 hours. So frustrated again at this point. I ring back - 'please say what you are after' "COMPLAINT".. 'Unfortunately there will be a... 20min.. wait to speak to someone'. 20mins?! 20mins on hold to complain?!? OMG I am on hold to complain about being on hold and getting crappy customer service! "Buy before the 20th Dec for delivery before Xmas"... it's now the 19th. Try to call again, one last time, speak to a lovely person located in TAS (wow! not many of them left at Vodafone) but she still can't help me because it's a prepaid. I send a screenshot of this offer through to their online feedback form. I get a response saying "I can't find this offer, but we have some lovely contracts for you". I reply again "as per my previously attached screenshot, the offer is clearly shown on your website, can you confirm you are not willing to give me the offer as advertised and shown in my screenshot'. Someone will get back to me. It's now 29/12 and no reply for 7 days. I try again on the website.. still stuffed. So here I am. And this is not even the half of it.. just some of the issues I have had. Why am I with Vodafone?? That's right, all of them are just as bad as each other.

8489 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I'm fed up!!!!! at 29 Dec 2010 02:22:10 PM
I've been a vodafone customer for many, many years. Early this year I renewed my contract with them (big mistake!!!) and since then the service which was becoming poor has become almost unbearable.

I am a carer for my elderly mother and my daughter (who is very ill)I also have a son and grandchildren in Sydney. I need my phone to be in constant contact with my charges and in recent months there have been a number of emergencies where my phone has either dropped service, dropped calls in the middle of conversations or not been able to get through (just get message bank) and then the person I'm calling doesn't even get a missed call, no voicemail is there and txt messages get to me 3-4 days late, the latest being an emergency to collect my 90 yr old mother - bit late after 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've documented all these problems and called vodofone every time, the last time I called I got put through to three different places, each time saying "oh I don't deal with iPhones" I'll put you to that section - well they obviously don't even know how to do that so how can they claim to have good service - I ask you!!!!

Sometimes in my own house I have different levels of service, I could be sitting on my couch talking then walk to the kitchen to make a coffee and bang - call dropped out - no service - let me ask you, what's the reason we have "mobile phones" isn't it to be able to walk around in one's own home??????

I'm fed up!!!!
And I'm outa here!!!!!

8486 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 29 Dec 2010 02:19:14 PM
I have been a vodafone user for about 6 years. I can handle the intermitant and weak vodafone reception but what I won't put up with is poor customer service.

I called the Vodafone call centre after my phone started sending multiple sms messages to recipients. I was left on hold for 40 minutes at 8pm on a sunday night. My call was picked up for about a minute, no one spoke to me and I could hear laughing and conversation in the background. My call was then placed back in the queue and I hung up. I have worked in a call centre and there is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour. I have now moved my business elsewhere.

8485 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is not happy at 29 Dec 2010 02:19:11 PM
I terminated my contract 4 months early due to phone dropping out when interstate. I have just recieved my last bill, so asked them once this is paid does that mean my phone will unlock from Vodaphone. My answer was no not unless i pay $25.00 to unlock it. A bit unfair.
31 Dec 2010 08:25:07 PM: I believe you can go to the vodafone website and there is an unlock area where you put in the details of your phone and they tell you for free how to unlock it. Might be worth checking out.

8483 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor Quality at 29 Dec 2010 02:17:09 PM
In a 2yr monthly contract on Wireless Internet. Can't wait to finish in Sept 2011.
Voda staff told me that if I have good reception with phone, Wireless Internet should be fine. Not so! As a result,my Internet experience is a nightmare. I go for days without a connection. When I have a connection it drops out within minutes. I cannot update Anti-Virus, Windows updates, or necessary printer updates etc. Impossible to Skype to communicate with daughters interstate. Tech Support in Cairo are frustrating, they try to blame my computer until we try everything else, then after about 50 mins of do this, click that etc, they have no solution. I give up and not bother! Last week, at 7pm decided to ring Support, the local inanimate voice asked me the usual 10 questions to establish nature of my problem. Hold on Sir will put you through to support. THEY could not connect for 30-40 minutes. When we connected with Cairo, the phone rang and rang. At last a young polite man answered and told me "Sorry, cannot help you, the office is closed...we close at 2.30pm in Cairo!!!!" I was stunned....and I lost it....poor guy...but God knows how frustrated I am....My connection drops out by the time I finish an email...I cannot be sure if bank payments have gone, and I get charged $25 each time by bank, and then I have to argue with them. I have lost relationships. Friends don't believe that I go for days without a connection, so I cannot communicate. Would love to communicate with daughters and see my grandchild via Skype! I am so so so frustrated. The reception bar on the the connectivity box is never better than the little bar. If there is rain in the area, no hope of connecting. At busy demand time of Internet services, no hope. Then when I connect, it just lets me down withing minutes....simply pathetic...simply poor...just frustrating...I hate it. Will change my phone to another company as well. And they always assume that it is my computer at fault....It never is...!Ughhh!
29 Dec 2010 09:43:24 PM: And everybody here (and more people in the country) know you are sooo right !!!!

Organised corporate change over for 35 people at my company 4 months ago. Cost savings were great. Coverage since terrible and nothing like what was promised in pre sales. Clearly broken service levels promised, probably losing business because of it, will be moving back to Telstra in the new year.

8481 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Worst at 29 Dec 2010 02:15:00 PM
Recently I rang Vodafone to pay the current bill but, just before I was to be given the receipt number, the automated system said that they had a technical difficulty and that I would need to try again. I ended up paying twice as the first payment went through! When I rang them I told them that my bank could not reverse the second payment and that they would have to do it as I had been in a similar situation before. They insisted that I ring my bank! I rang them back and got onto them after a lengthy amount of time. The Indian woman said that they would not fax my bank to reverse one of the payments even though I had all the details. This time she said that it would take at least 5 working days whereas the manager I had ended speaking to the first time said 3 to 5! I asked to speak to the manager again and she took my phone number and said that she would get him to ring back. He rang and told me that he could do nothing! He said it was up to the credit department and all he could do was mark it 'urgent'. I never got the refund! Instead they deducted the mo0ney from my next bill when I had told them that I was short of funds as it was Christmas!! By the way they spoke to me, they obviously didn't care even when I told that at the end of the contract I would be going back to Telstra! It was obvious to me that I was dealing with Indians and I therefore believe that I was dealing with an Indian Call Centre. The first person I spoke to I could not hear properly as his voice kept cutting in and out. Also he acted like he was dumb! I presume this was to put me off so that I would give up!! I do not like dealing with Indian Call Centres and this is why I changed my son's mobile over from 3!

To make things worse, my daughter is also with Vodafone and I have not been able to reach her ever since she went to stay in country Victoria. Too bad if I needed to contact her on an urgent matter!

8480 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor at 29 Dec 2010 02:14:14 PM
My partner and me have been with the sevice for nearly 4 years have complained numerous times regarding the service in our area been told next month, then will be updated again the following oh no will be another 2 months and it is always another excuse. My partners phone got lost and we rang the police and vodaphone as phone insured and they took all the details and said would be about 4 weeks before received phone in mail. We went on holidays still nothing over 5 weeks later rang again and was told need info sent to them now to say own phone and also $250 added onto account as to do with insurance that is so wrong that's why we pay insurance on the phone and were never told about this charge. We couldn't find papers at home of when we got the phone so went to our local vodaphone where got the phone which was a Iphone 3 and they had upgraded computer systems and moved to new premises in same place and no record of even getting the phone told to go to another store 20 mins away and they will be able to help and give us a copy of our record. Seems very fumny. Went to that store still no record of phone being purchased or anything this was ridiculous. My partner contacted vodaphone again after another week of trying to get info and they said ok we will send out phone.
How is it that even they have no information of the phone or details yet we pay an account ever month and still have till August 2011 till contract finishes. Phone arrived finally and had to activate sim and the shop couldnt even do that and they were rude in regard to activating. We rang customer service and that took over an hour to finally get it activated as had to wait for someone to answer the phone.
We also have wireless internet and have no service most days as with our mobiles not getting messages or even phone calls and people ask why don't you answer sorry never received message or phone call, sometimes come days later. very disappointed and i am waiting to finish contract and change to another provider.

8479 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Billing fail at 29 Dec 2010 02:10:24 PM
I recently signed up with vodafone through an NRMA deal for a 12 month contract. The deal is as follows:
- HTC Desire HD
- $69 cap + $15 handset repayment
- 10% off for lifetime of contract (handset repayment not included)
- first 3 months free
- overall $745 for life of contract
- confirmed this was the full deal before signing, when activating the sim over the phone and in the store.
I recently got my first bill, I have not gone over the cap, I have not had any extra charges on my account and yet the first bill - $155.10
I called vodafone about this - waited 2.5 hrs to get through to a customer rep.
She looked at my bill and said that there weren't any particular reasons for the charge. She said she would credit one month back to me but that I would have to pay the rest of the bill as it is policy for them to charge a month's bill ahead of time which is then refunded at the end of the contract. I have never heard of this nor is it anywhere in the contract. When I pointed this out, the CSR said that I could take it or leave it. I then asked what I should do when/if the next bill charges me again - her solution was to call back. I pointed out how long it took to get through to her, she said it's not her problem.

Vodafone - you fail. Your coverage where I am is absolute crap, I can barely use the internet on my device, I get dropped calls repeatedly and 0 bars constantly. You overcharged me on my bill without a reason other than to see if you could simply get away with it. How is this type of treatment legal in the slightest?

me and my 2 flat mates are all using vodafone internet sticks, for the past 3 months now the servicice is constantly disconnecting and re ceconnecting after a few minutes and running at very poor speed,
for a space of a week we could hardly connect at all, i called up twice to complain about this and got no where, after the call operator going through services of trying 2 make out it was my computer that was at fault ( which i kept sayin it couldnt be as 3 of us were having the problem) the call server then said it appears my computer correct and then suggested i just go 2 a different area to use my internet, so basically there were not helpful 1 bit

also my phone is vodafone and when on calls constantly keeps dropping in and out of calls and even disconnects me, which is a massive pain as i do alot of calls over seas so just 2 reconnect calls hits my credit and friends credit on the pocket

8477 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Coverage at 29 Dec 2010 02:08:35 PM
Recently switched over from 3 mobile as was told by vodafone sales person that they have amalgomated, have not had any reception or coverage since I have changed over even though I was informed that my coverage would be better. I live in Carlingford NSW and have to drive my car up the street to receive messages and then have to constantly use my voicemail which I have to pay for due to their issues with coverage. When I have contacted them to complain, no response or apology and I have asked for them to credit my bills due to this problem as do not understand why I have to pay for this when i am not receiving the service they promised. My phone is used for business as I am not able to speak with my clients, even during office hours, have to walk outside the building to get any reception and majority of calls just drop out. I work at Rhodes in Sydney. Very disappointed with the whole process, even the billing process and would love to change back to another supplier and keep my number. Would never recommend them to anyone!!!!

8475 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is It is the worst service and coverage of all mobile phone carriers. at 29 Dec 2010 02:08:09 PM
I got a phone through vodafone. I work upstairs from (in the same building) as a vodafone dealer. I have no coverage in my own OFFICE!!!

I also have a Nokia N97 mini as part of my package. Because I got the phone from another dealer, the one downstairs (303 Pitt St) will not fix it for me. They said I need the reciept with the serial number. I called vodafone. On the phone, I was told by the machine it would be a 40 min. wait as all operators were busy. Arghh.... 40 minutes is inexcusable. I waited anyways. I spoke to someone after about 20 minutes. She took all my details and told me they would look up the serial-numbered receipt and email it to me. She said it would take 2 days at the most. That was 5 days ago! Still nothing.

The woman on the phone was clearly in an Indian call centre and said whatever she could to get rid of me. My service is still horrible and my phone is still broken.

Voda - FAIL!!!

Apart from the fact that my own messages take a ridiculously long time to send, I am now also experiencing delays in receiving messages too.

I am texting this sweet little honey at the moment and I think that she thinks that I am playing it too cool becuase whenever she sends me a text, she will not get a response for at least 5 to 6 hours.

As well as this, last night I was woken up at 3 in the morning to the sound of a text message alert. I, forgetting that vodafone was my crappy mobile provider got excited at this thinking that maybe, just maybe, the little honey that I have been persuing was booty texting me. Imagine my disapointement and anger when I realised that it was a message from my housemate which he had sent 8 hours earlier asking me if I needed something from the supermarket.

I do not have a home phone and my mobile that is 8 months old doesnt access the internet, will not recieve calls (people tell me it says this person is uncontactable at the moment) , disconnects calls and is late in sending and recieving txt's. I've been to the vodafone stores that are local to me (2 out of 3 are being renovated) the store that is open doesnt have any loan phones left because someothers are having the same issue, i was yelled at and told to "get over it. ". I wasnt impressed with this service so i called theire customer service centre where i was on hold for 1 hour and they just simply told me that i'd need to contact my local store. This was over month ago now and still there are no loan phones. This is my only course of contact to ,y family. I am a mum and need my phone for when my daughter is at preschool and also in case of emergencies. This is rediculous. Vodafone need to fix this situation or let us out of our contracts free of charge.

BTW, I was a satisfied customer for MOST of my contract period. All of these issues started in Sept/Oct and despite trying to get answers, none received.

The problem with bad/no service has been happening for two months or so now in southern NSW, very frustrating. I have been a Vodafone customer for quite a number a years now and haven't had so many problems with them, and have a new phone and contract till 2012, not good if it can't be used.

8466 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 29 Dec 2010 02:05:02 PM
Have several major gripes with Vodafone.
Firstly is the automated voice response system. As a result I try real hard to avoid having to contact vodafone at all. When I do it is major pain going through the phone system for me so by the time I get to an operator it's become a most unpleasant experience. Every time I have reason to call I register a formal complaint about the voice response system.
Second gripe is I cant appear to get copies of my account mailed to me like every other organisation appears to be able to do.
Third is vodafone appear to now require a pin number to access account information and therefore billing details. I have a vodaphone account for many years now and for the life of me cannot remember any pin number. Now im supposed to phone their customer freekin service number to get past the pin number. All I am trying to do is find out how much I owe so that I can pay my bill.
Finally a fourth issue I have is that after waiting for so long for an operator when I phone 1555, I get disconnected and have to start all over again. Major pissed off X2 by the time I finally get to an operator.

When technology gets in the way of cashflow, business can fail very damn quickly. Maybe its time for me to bail and finally switch the two long term accounts I have to another carrier.
the recent introduction to having to use a PIN number to account your account

8464 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Appallingly failish at 29 Dec 2010 02:01:42 PM
Vodafone changed my plan of 3-4 years to a different setting. This meant all my previous 'credit' and 'hours' disappeared and I suddenly had to top up each month cos the credit was taken from me. I didn't ask for anything to be changed.

Spent one hour and twenty four minutes on hold to be hung up on.

Rang the business line to see how fast they get served and was answered in less than 20 seconds, to hear a group of men having a giggling conversation before the phone was smashed onto the receiver.

Spent another half an hour on hold to speak to a non-english speaking woman who was convinced that I was responsible for changing my account details, even though I haven't done so in the 3-4 years I've had the same Sim/account.

Delay in receiving voice mail to my iphone has resulted in issues at work as I use the phone for business purposes. Sometimes voicemail can take two days, at other times 2-3 hours, sometimes I never get them. My calls drop out and sms can take several hours before they are received. My family are all with vodafone, two kids on pre-paids and 2 x adults on contract. We have all had problems with delayed sms & "No Service" As soon as the contracts are up, we are leaving vodafone.

I thought I was the only one with problems - actually thought it was my handset and have since gone and paid an "Upgrade" fee with Vodafail to try to fix my problem. My calls always drop out, other members of my family who are with 3 and Vodafone (because I "recommended them") try to ring and my phone doesn't even show a missed call... important voicemail messages come thru 2-3 hours after they were left... when I rang Vodafone to upgrade my handset the phone call was with someone who had very bad english to argued about what contract I was one - which I was right :) and the phone call dropped out after being on hold for 40mins and they didn't ring me back!! Tried to call back again... only to be on hold for 20mins and the call dropped out. Luckly the next day I rang and did get a helpful call centre personell who did ring me back each time my call dropped out - 4 times in fact...
Basically - I've upgraded my handset , locked myself in for another 24months... but am now deeply regretting it after discovering this website and realising that I'm not alone!!!

So many "black spots" of reception in sydney, it's horrible... one area in metro sydney, about 40kms out of cbd, in the middle of a suburb, no reception at all. drops out on the train every day, for about 15 minutes of my trip. why?!
also, online payment system is an absolute joke, needs redoing desperately, I have paid hundreds of dollars more than I was meant to because of this...

Couple of issues with VF. First was them setting up a direct debit that I never authorised and having to pay twice for one monthly bill. Second was coverage pretty average particularly for the internet. I have a Iphone that is having problems with my email and when i rang VF they said they were aware of it bit it would not be fixed until mid jan at the earliest?? Not good enough. Also have had problems at home receiving texts at weird times of the day and night? 1 year to go on contract but will try to get out of it.

Phone dropped out twice and after being kept on hold for 28 minutes, I was told to go into the shop as they couldn't detect the problem. I went into the Highpoint Vodafone store, and they told me that they didn't have any service in the store and would have to go outside and contact the call centre again! 8445 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is nothing but problems at 29 Dec 2010 01:38:21 PM
After being with Vodafone for 19 months the reception and drop outs progressively became worse and worse on both my mobile and mobile broadband. I lost count of how many times I was told by VF to uninstall and reinstall my broadband and how often I would have poor to no coverage on my mobile. Going into a VF store I was told my particular house was in a poor coverage area....I live in a well established central suburb in a free standing house not in a concrete underground apartment surrounded by hills.
In frustration I changed providers then got hit with a $550 final bill even though in store they told me my payout figure was $330. I had to cancel my mobile broadband by phoning customer service - 5 times I phoned and either got cut off or left a message for someone to call me back, I even emailed VF asking. A week went by and I had no call back, I rang again and after being on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes I finally spoke to someone who was so rude to me over cancelling my broadband even though the plan was finished she tried everything to get me to keep my business and seemed annoyed at the fact that I had poor coverage in my house.
Vodafone need to improve their coverage, call centre customer service and waiting times. I yet have to resolve the apparent $550 cancellation?
Much happier with my new provider.
29 Dec 2010 01:49:12 PM: I do have to add to this the staff in the Vodafone stores have been helpful and sympathetic. I feel sorry for them having to deal with frustrated customers, its not their fault.

I got a brand new Desire HD on 2 years contract as it had 2gb data plan, phone failed within 3 weeks, sent back to Vodafone, they sent it back 2 weeks later saying "Uneconimical to repair" and offered nothing, shop was just as bad, it took me 2 hours on the phone to vodafone to get them to agree to replace the unit and credit me for the month. I was staggered they just said tough, nothing we will do, 3 weeks into a 2 year contract and they say bugger all we can do!! I had to spend 2 hours refusing to accept that until I got someone who had the decency to say "Yes, this is bad service, this is what I can do to fix that for you" I have to wait till the new year for the new phone as they have no stock, so I will see if it can last longer than 3 weeks this time.

I have had an ongoing saga with reception both with my phone and internet. Vodafone have credited me the last 6 months of contract however will not let me out of contract nor let me take my number until end of contract (9/3/11). I was told to 'buy a prepaid phone'. It is affecting my work as i cannot get reception in the hospital I work in a large city. The internet is even worse, my reception is shocking and was assured it would be great as they were apparently merging with 3, 18 months ago, I have recently been informed this isn't for another 18 months! Vodafone staff will not help with the internet at all, most of the time we have no access which is why I am writing this at work. I am counting down the days until march 9 so I can change provider, this has been the longest and most agonising 2 years.

This is how my day has gone so far.
1. I am finding that whilst showing 5 bars of full strength signal, I have drop outs regularly.
2. Calls are failing to connect and often I need to dial 4 or 5 times to get a connection.
3. My handset has just stopped tethering to my computer and when I try to connect, I receive a message saying that I must contact Voda.
4. When online with "My Vodafone" to change the settings, I am getting an error message on the webpage and told to ring 1555.
5. 1555 would not connect and I have dialled 20 or more times.
6. Update. Got through to 1555 left my details for a service rep to call back but the automated reply system didn't work.
7. 3 hours later received a call from someone in India or Asia and I could not make sense of what she was saying.

In my work I travel Australia and spend days to weeks in regional or rural centres and for the two years of my contract I have been unable to get a signal outside a capital city or major regional centre despite my colleagues with Telstra and Optus being able to get good signals in most populated areas.

The day my contract expired, I transferred to Telstra and have been stunned by the range of their network compared with Vodafone.

On the positive side, their staff have been very helpful in turning my data on and off on nominated dates while I travel overseas (a feature which I can do myself with Telstra without assistance).

8429 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING at 29 Dec 2010 01:28:38 PM
Have had Vodafone for many many years despite the fact that NOT ONCE has a call remained constant without dropping out. We live in Cherrybrook in suburban Sydney and have 3 mobiles on Vodafone. NOT ONE of the phones [all different brands] can reliably receive calls in our home. The phone MAY ring, usually not, and if it does manage to ring...the caller ALWAYS drops out! We are NEVER able to be contacted, nor contact each other within the local shopping centre, nor at Castle Towers- monstrous shopping centre- whilst every other telco users CAN receive calls...NOT US VODAFONE SUCKERS!. Calls constantly drop out, every single call, EVERYTIME!!!!!

So we bought yet another 3 cheap mobile phones recently in frustration and connected them to VIRGIN. Uses the Optus network, however Virgin coverage seems much much better The phone ALWAYS RINGS! AND is definitely available in the shopping centres mentioned above. Still trying it out though. As far as Vodafone goes, they deserve what they get for not using local call centres and employing Aussie staff to service customers. Like Hutchinson 3 Mobile they shoved us off to India & elsewhere, and just like we did to THREE 3 mobile , we are now giving Vodafone the BIGGEST SHOVE OF ALL!!! OUT THE BLOODY DOOR###

8423 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Never ever again at 29 Dec 2010 01:18:08 PM
First I spent $230 + of pre paid credit just trying to get my phone activated. This was made up of being on hold for 6 and a half hours calling 13 times talking to those shit computers that never get you any where. Just trying to get my old number released from another carrier. I then received my phone but could not get it activated for another two weeks. Now I have lost the phone they will not give me any help to get a replacement only at a cost of $20 per month on top of my plan, i have asked for an early termination of my contract although it is going to cost me $99 x 24 which is a total of $2476. When I was with telstra i had an early termination fee of $470. I'v called 3 other phone companies that have the same thing. I'm willing to pay for the phone but as I have not had the first payment come out of my bank I think I should not have to pay the life of the contract. I'm not a happy camper. And will fight this till I win
29 Dec 2010 01:27:26 PM: if you call from a land-line it's the cost of a local call, defiantly using a mobile to call another provider will chew up credit!
If you have in fact loss the phone, then certainly under any phone companies terms of agreement you will be responsible for it, and unless you make an insurance claim if you have it insured you will need to buy a new phone or pay one off with the company.
Certainly if it is in the contract agreement that you will need to pay a full exit fee to the affect you have spoken of then that will stand under the law.
I have been through this one with Optus and it's part and parcel of all the phone companies....Insurance or bust!

I did not have a problem with Vodafone until this year. My old phone stopped working and when I got a new one I have had nothing but problems with the network. It stopped sending and recieving text messages, then it stopped showing missed calls. When I asked Vodafone (politely) how to fix the issue they fobbed me off and told me I was doing something wrong. Eventually a staff member slipped and said I was not the only person having problems but they could not fix it. As soon as I said I was switching carriers the problem suddenly got fixed,(for about 2 weeks). I ended up having to switch to another carrier just so that I could use the phone.

8421 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The picture of fail at 29 Dec 2010 01:15:50 PM
On Christmas morning, I opened a present addressed to me from my mother in law. Clearly she hadn't been concentrating when wrapping them, as my parcel contained earrings and a necklace- undoubtedly intended for my wife. As a joke, my wife got me to put them both on, and she snapped a photo of my on her phone to send to her Mum in Perth. Of course, the picture wouldn't send due to the 'unforeseen' high network traffic of that random calendar event known as Christmas Day. Two days later on the 27th, my mother-in-law received the picture of me wearing earrings and a necklace on her phone no less than 30 times! She said (understandably) that it was starting to get downright creepy. To get any reception whatsoever in our house in central Sydney, my wife and I have to walk around waving our phones in the air looking like we're either attempting some form of bizarre mime, or adjusting the coat hanger aerial on a TV built in the 1950's. Currently I'm on a 24-month, $79, 1 gig a month data plan for my i-Phone 3G; the functionality of which roughly resembles a tub of yoghurt. Half the functions such as YouTube and so on refuse to work, so now I don't even bother. I went into the Vodafone shop today and felt sorry for the polite girl who shook her head, told me I was one of many and to try the Vodafone website or speak to Lara. Elaborating on her tale of woe, she told me that the Vodafone management tell them nothing and that like me, she only knows what she reads in the paper. I explained that I'd already spent an hour of my life on the phone to Lara and finally was emailed a form telling me how to 're-set my i-phone,' when it clearly has nothing to do with the phone. I told the girl in the Vodafone shop that I'd give it a couple of weeks out of good faith (yes, I'm a softie) then go to the Ombudsman to try to break the contract. Basically, I have no choice but to move to Optus, as the phone hardly works. Perhaps Vodafone is right to concentrate on trying to recruit new customers via their cricket sponsorship. Because the current ones are leaving in droves.

Vodafone keep telling me coverage will get better ? Its been 3 months now and its costing my money in redialed connection fees as well as my home landline going straight into message bank. On top of this its totally impossible getting through to customer care and furthermore Vodafone won't fix my daughters 6 month old Nokia and told me to buy another.. I've been a customer for 11 years, I have 4 family members on Vodafone as well as staff at work. I have to make the painful decision to change the whole lot to another provider ??? Customer care emailed me saying they are away till 4th January.. I don't need this stress just mobiles that can make phone calls..

8419 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total waste of money & time at 29 Dec 2010 01:11:36 PM
I had been a Vodafone customer for years. I didn't mind putting up with the crap service because they had the big caps so it wasn't so bad. But then it got even worse and everytime my call drop out i had to call ppl back so it was costing me more and more. I would get txt days after they where sent or not at all. Never had reception, the coverage was SO BAD........ I would get charged twice for one txt sent and when recharging my credit over the phone by credit card i had been double charged more than one time !!! I was on hold to Vodafone for hours at a time to get my complaints heard. I have now switched to the bigger phone provider and i get full coverage and great service. BIG thumbs down to Vodafone or should i should i say Vodafail !!!!!!

I am on call 4 work & everytime my boss try's 2 call me it goes straight 2 meassage bank. I dont get the messages sometimes 4 a day or 2??? When I went into Vodapone shop the manager told me she knew of the problem & then told me I had 2 deal with it what manager tells a customer 2 deal with it???
29 Dec 2010 01:15:32 PM: doesn't seem like a polite way of putting it but i guess it is a reality, there is genuinely more problems than usual, but no it's not affecting everyone on voda! They'll work out, they were planning on the network upgrade yonks ago, they just sold to many plans leading up to it and ran out of time, they'll catch up, OPTUS had a similar problem not so long ago, they just got a better timed jump on it.

8415 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Fail!! at 29 Dec 2010 01:09:07 PM
Me and a few friends compared our iphone 4's at the cafe yesterday. We had a Telstra, Optus, 3 and my Vodafail iphone all side by side on the table. These are the reception results:
1st: 3 (5bars full reception)
2nd: Optus (3bars)
3rd: Telstra (3BARS)
LAST: MY VODAFAIL WITH A PATHETIC 1 BAR!
Now here's my dilemma; If the transplant team from westmead hospital tries to contact me to tell me that they have a suitable kidney but cant get in touch with me, then who do I blame?
Some people have phones for business, some have them for leisure.
And then there's a group of us that wait for the lifesaving call.
Pull your socks up Voda!
29 Dec 2010 01:44:23 PM: So what was the 1st one again with 5 Bars? Or did the 1st and 3rd both have Telstra?

8414 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is SouthAust3G coverage map at 29 Dec 2010 01:06:50 PM
Since launching 3g umts 900 coverage map is not a true representation of coverage take inglewood in the hills, blue area shows should have coverage but no coverage on nokia 6121 or 3120 whatsoever coverage map definently does not show handheld Vs carkit or external antenna reception.
Also since voda decided to merg all metro towers to share with three seems problems with both voice and data, sure merge the network but make sure the network can handle the capacity strain.

8412 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME at 29 Dec 2010 01:05:43 PM
I bought a Iphone through vodafone, six months ago, ever since then, i have had more trouble with "No service and dropped out phone calls" than ever. I was told coverage was great, and that i would have no problems at all. I live in Bundaberg Qld, and I can sit out side or driving down the road and have no service at all. My phone worked by sending MMS messages, but now it won't send any picture messages at all. I have rang vodafone and they say to restart or reset the phone. This has not helped in anyway. I am a disgrunted customer and will never buy from them again. I pay my monthly account, even though I cannot use it to the full extent. If i wanted to play games, or listen to music, I would have bought an ipod, as the phone is useless. No way will they cancel my contract, they lose money, but i'm the one out of pocket. thumbs down for Vodafone, you've lost my respect. My dad has a heart condition, and now bundaberg is flooded and has no home phone services, i look to use my phone, and the damn thing has no service. Good On ya...

8411 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is making money from a glitch at 29 Dec 2010 01:04:51 PM
There have been a number of occasions I have sent a single text message and the message has been sent multiple times. Just over a month ago it reduced my credit to zero in a matter of minutes.

At first I thought it could be my phone playing up, but then I heard it was happening to a lot of Vodafone users.

If my understanding is correct then Vodafone should definitely be making efforts to reimburse users like myself.

Once I can find the patience to last long enough on hold I will see what they can do for me.

Eventhough people making calls on the train can be annoying I WISH just once I could be the one making the call. Their network is really sad. Their call centre well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had longish phone call (longer than 10 mins) that has not dropped out! I also have issues with delays in voicemail. Also when I ported from 3 to Vodafone it took 2 weeks to get sorted in which I had both phones - 3 and Vodaphone both working, but phone calls would still go to my 3 phone. Extremely frustrating!

To the previous persons trying to defend Vodafail for what they are, I take your point about cheap prices get cheap service. However, there is such a thing in Australia called "minimum service requirement". It's clearly that Vodafail did not meet that at all. They are worst than catching a train in Melbourne and Sydney. Just try to imagine that, your car broke down somewhere in the CBD and your phone had no signal or can not make a call due to network problem. Do you think somebody will really come and help you? Worst still, if you are a lady get chase by potential rapist, a working mobile would be great savior in these sticky situations.

I can't make or receive calls most of the time and my mobile is my business phone and this lack of availability is costing me a lot of money. Oops! Sorry! Vodafone have offered me $50 off my next bill. Big deal! They have cost me thousands. They also tell me that if I cancel my plan there will be a cancellation fee. Fat chance!! Cancellation fee for paying for no service? Also I am tired of talking to either "irritating Lara" or "uncomprehensible India". Someone please help.We are all paying for NOTHING.

8404 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 29 Dec 2010 12:59:01 PM
can't make calls when at home as i get little or no signal - calls drop out constantly (this has been the case for at least 3 years). Cannot get signal with internet on my phone and no reception with mobile dongle for the desktop PC either. Paying a total of $129 month yet cannot use internet at home or make phone calls - couldn't even dial 000 when i needed to the other night (Thankfully it wasn't gunshots after all)!

Tell me again what i have been paying for? Up until now i figured all telcos were prob the same and no point switching (have had bad experience with Telstra with work phones etc...) but now find out i've just been getting ripped off month after month after month.....

Never reach the limits of my cap coz i can never make calls or use the internet services i have been paying for! Will def be changing to someone else when my contract expires again in 12+ months (grrrr)....

Rang the help line numerous time and after being on hold for 20 to 30 minutes plus issue still not resolved. Yet still charging me for a service that they said would work but does not.

8400 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is DISSCUSTED at 29 Dec 2010 12:55:07 PM
I was with another network before vodafone 3 months ago and left them cause I was told vodafone is the network to be with cause they have a better network than the rest.I was told before I joined that there was a service tower in the area with access to 3G & 2G All I have had since then is problems, firstly I have changed my blackberry handset 12 times in 2 months, they kept telling me it was the handset, then they said it was the sim card they changed that 3 times and the problem is ongoing as we speak they said they will call back(this occurs on average 3 times a month) since I have connected with vodafone I have had dropouts in the middle of business calls, people try calling and it says my number is unavaliable or disconnected,I have tried calling my wife on several occasions and tells me her phone is disconnected, tried calling my wife on several occasions and it tells me her phone is unavaliable and then when i get through she tells me my phone is on with full service. My wife has the same problems when she tries calling someone she gets either a cherping sound telling her that she doesn't have service, the number you are calling is unobtainable, the number you are calling is disconnected, the number you are calling is un avaliable etc. I send picture messg for work and the picture mesg either don't get received or get received 5 days later at the earliest this is a very important role in my work as to dealing with things that need to be attended to asap and I am unable to complete my work due to this problem and then the work gets taken away from me and given to somebody else with better access to these pictures.Text mesgs sent and received as well don't get received until 2-3 days later. My emails in the first 2 months of connection are always received 3-4 days later I have lost so much business cause of vodafone.I am willing to go to the extreme to voice my troubles with them cause they have caused me pain and grief with my personal and business life. I have in the last 2 months told everyone I know that is willing to go to vodafone not to never recommend it.
29 Dec 2010 01:02:26 PM: I agree with those comments

I was with vodafone and dumped them for the reasons you have mentioned - I went to 3, the problems are the same. I have complained for so long that they said 'we can't help you, go to Vodafone.' Now I find they have amalgamated or fused or something. So guess what, shifting to 3 puts you right back in the same hole.

8396 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very bad coverage at my working area at 29 Dec 2010 12:52:06 PM
My company has provided all the staff with Vodafone's Top Business Cap Plan as we are using the mobiles to communicate with our clients and service providers. The network services from Vodafone is getting worst and worst. I even can't make a call from my desk in the office. My office is situated in Wanniassa. Another example is when I was using Bluetooth while driving, the line would always dropped out and had to wait for the network to come back, then to call back and apologize to the person I have been talking with earlier.
It is really bad for us who are using Vodafone to communicate with our clients. Another thing is the frequent delay of receiving and sending of SMS.

I think the best thing for us to do is to change the Provider from Vodafone to Telstra when our contracts with Vodafone is expired.
29 Dec 2010 12:59:29 PM: Don't trust Telstra either - I have it in their black and white where they have double charged me, then added $280 to my a/c and as for the TIO, all I can get from them is, 'please fill in the attached form' (which I have frequently) but you might just as well 'use' the fan!

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!
