Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

6756 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is TERRIBLE SERVICE ALLROUND at 28 Dec 2010 04:16:05 PM
When i signed up for my 2 year contract 2 months ago with a brand new iphone 4 i was not told:
*That everytime i need to call customer service i would have to wait 2 hours on average for someone to answer my call.
*That half my calls would constantly drop out.
*That my internet would take 2 mins on average to load a website,Slower than dial up internet
*That my voicemail & text messages would sometimes take 24 hours to come through.
I could go on and on but this is enough....In short TERRIBLE is the only way to describe all of this!!! I made a mistake leaving Three after 8 years to join this crap......Cant wait to leave.RIPPED OFF FOR A SERVICE THAT DOESNT WORK.

I only had a few problems with three. Saying that, I've only been a customer for 5 days. My first day was spent without a phone because they had forgotten to port my number across. Since then I haven't had 3G at all. I WANT MY 3G!!!!!

3 wireless broadband customer-the network was always shaky never downloads at the speeds the signal strength says it should. Tried downloading a 2gig map for Tom Tom today at 3 bar high speed indication was 7 hours. The network dropped out after 3 hours. Start again. will just pay the additional charges not worth dealing with customer service. a complete waste of time
6750 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is USB stick modem fail at 28 Dec 2010 04:11:31 PM
I am locked in to a 2 yr contract (1 yr to go) with Vodafone for both my USB stick modem and iphone. I get one bar reception, very slow data feed, on the modem, and find data feed on iphone slow. I can't even watch a youtube with my VFone internet modem, and internet connection often drops out. There's no excuse, I live in north canberra (belconnen) which is close to the centre of Canberra. I would like to hand the USB modem back, but they tell me I'm locked in.

6747 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 28 Dec 2010 04:10:21 PM
I constantly have to put up with my texts not being sent. I will go three days or so in a row with none of my texts being sent through but still being charged for the texts. When I called vodafone I got absolutely no help, they didn't understand what "being charged for text messages that are not being recieved" meant. I also lose coverage constantly in random places that have plenty of coverage for every other service provider I know.
Way to fail Vodafone.

On the Central Coast - my partner and I both have Vodaphone and can't get consistent access from Long Jetty (1 hr from Sydney) - costing a fortune in Hotel calls - this is just rubbish - some more examples:
- South Stradbroke Island Brisbane - nothing on the far side of the Island, No Vodaphone 3G data coverage at Frenchs Forest Sydney or Barden Ridge Sydney.

Was with vodafone, because it was cheap. Then realised cheap meant network problems, slow speeds, dleayed texts, crappy customer service. Switched to telstra. Pay a hell of a lot more on my phone bill but my god it is a million time better. I've had a few issues with telstra too, but one phone call and it's all sorted out. In fact telstra is incompetent enough that you can scam them out of bills and everything !!! But damn their reception and net speeds are superb!!
Guess mummy was right. You do indeed get what you pay for.

Prior to purchasing a vodaphone wireless internet account, they asked for my postcode which I gave them and said that my coverage is very very good.
However when I connect to vodaphones network, I get ONE bar of reception and the download speed is appalling!!
Trying to contact vodaphone helpdesk support is a waste of time. I bought $100 which is 6GB and in one week my access had expired and I finally got a hold
of them on the phone and I sought an explanation as to why my 6GB was gone in
one week - and Vodaphone said to me in a Indian accent 'it must of been something running in the background'..to which I replied 'like What?'.
Realising now that Vodaphone deliberately misrepresented themselves to me upon a quick sale of their product, I am going back to Telstra, at least there connectivity is stable and I get FOUR bars of reception.
I want my money back Vodaphone!

6742 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 04:05:41 PM
My problems started with 3 mobiles not offering a great amount of coverage at my address. 3 mobiles had agreed to let me port my number to another services provider with out charge. They suggested that a Vodafone sales person would call me to check my coverage and if it was good, Vodafone would sign me over. I was happy to do so because I was advised that the mobile 3g coverage in my area was good. Less then a month after signing up, I missed days worth of calls and txt msg, calls would suddenly drop, and constantly not being able to make calls even when my phone shows full coverage. I called Vodafone and after following the automated promts to technical support, I was advised I was in the wrong department and needed to transfer me to the correct one. After waiting a further 20 minutes, they advised that an investigation was being raised and this was going to take around 3 weeks to get some sort of answer. I told them this was not good enough and that I use my phone also for work, and the customer service rep said "it sounds important so I'll have some one call you the next day". Well, I never got that call. I called Vodafone back 5 days later and demanded that I be released from my contract as they have failed to deliver the mobile service I sign up for. I was advised some one will call me back tomorrow. I wont hold my breath...

And talk about the week-old delayed voice messages I get! It's disgusting; Vodaphone you should be very, very ashamed for providing such a crap service!

consistently overcharged since taking up an iphone 4 offer, resulting in several calls to "customer not care" since august to fix the charges, which include calls not being deducted from the cap, being charged for "free" data plan. Each month I am promised it will be fixed, only to a new problem on the next bill.
This is on top of very poor data reception, particularly in metro area - I've resorted to finding the nearest maccas to use their free wifi

My phone drops out on almost every call i make or receive. I dont get very good reception and when i do, it lasts only moments.
The customer service is useless and i am unable to get out of my contract without paying an arm and a leg, which is ridiculous. I signed up for a phone plan and i cant freaking use it.

overchraged, in correct information give, i would say horrible customer service if there was any service given without waiting for hours on the other end, incorrect billing, diverted to overseas call centre were it seems the call centre is always busy and if you do by some miracle get a human on the other end they are clearly scripted in what to say and struggle to help with my problems. To sum up in one word SH$@T

My husband says he doesn't get reception in the pub. Of course I thought that was crap until he made me go into the pub to confirm that his reception does drop out immediately. I thought it might be a conspiracy thought up by a clever pub owner who has worked out a way to scramble the signal, but no, it was just good old Vodafone. I can't even make calls inside my house!

We signed over our 4 business mobiles contrat to Vodafone in early December. We are STILL not connected ie no activation has yet happened!! We have received a bill however which has us worried when we do get our new sims activated as the bill is showing numbers and names not related to any of names or existing mobile numbers!! Scary stuff. The phones took 3 weeks longer than promised and went via an unknown address. Our Business Support Representative , Amie Jexxxxxon, has twice emailed us to advise she is unavailable to assist us due to illness which may/may not be an avoidance strategy who knows but with the track record thus far we are distrusting, suspeicious, highly skeptical and very scared!

I thought it was just me... wow... In Hobart we get the same issues, call dropouts, network disappearing when I try to make a call and consistently late sms & voicemail. I transferred to Vodafone over 2 years ago because the staff provided excellent service, and transferred my two daughter's phones soon after. But i worry sometimes if they try to call and have no reception. I thought it was just a Hobart (or Tasmanian) issue with reception. I am astounded it is in the other capital cities as well!
6728 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Liars at 28 Dec 2010 03:49:41 PM
I have been complaining for 3 months, only to be told it's my handset, reset the settings, do this do that. They do not even acknowledge there is an issue with the network. I have complained to the TIO and even now they say they are invetigating the problem and will let me know what the outcome is. If only they watched the bloody news then they would know what the problem is. STOP fobbing us off Vodafone and stop lying to your customers, accept you have a major problem, refund every person their rental costs for the last 3 months, and the next 3 as this is not going to get fixed over night and accept responsibility.

Have been in contact with Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman since i signed up 5 months ago due to issues with MMS and PTX. It took them 2 months to admit that they had an error.

Also They talked me into a blackberry storm and since i have had it i have not been able to get many apps or games for it unlike what the girl who sold it to me said !! it keeps saying not a valid service or cant be used on this handset when in fact it's for blackberry storm so i am seriously annoyed That They Lied to me In every way !!

6717 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Drop outs at 28 Dec 2010 03:41:58 PM
I think they make it drop out on purpose to increase profits. If you pay multiple flagfalls and for parts of a a minute/half minute then you will pay more than if you had stayed on a call that drops out.
6716 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 28 Dec 2010 03:41:53 PM
When I signed into my 2 year contact I was told that because Vodafone and 3 shared phone lines I would have reception almost everywhere. My reception is totally incosistent, at uni I get it in some rooms but not others. Sometimes I have full reception at home and some times I have none. When people ring they tell me that it goes straight to message bank even if the phone is on and I have full reception. I cannot wait until this contract is up, signing up with vodafone was a big mistake! Another thing that I have found is that the Vodafone website for some reason seems to function slower than any other website.

both Voda and 3 are full of crap. Until 3 months ago I had really good mobile broadband. Now most days I wait half an hour to download a few emails, some days my download speed is 2kbs and a waste of time trying to upload. Customer service advice is my area is heavy usage area and 3 has no intention to upgrade the network, all upgrades will only be to the Voda network. Do I wish to change to Voda? My answer to them is they have 7 days to fix the service and supply me what I pay for or I go to ACCC and Telecomunications Ombudsman and Consumer Affairs. How about a class action here in South Australia against both 3 and Voda as they are the same company now according to the bills I get.
28 Dec 2010 03:56:47 PM: 3 Mega coverage used to roam to tel$tra Next G when coverage was poor or out of metro, then 3 changed software to favour voda before telstra. Since then there are pockets where the phone is so screwed up it trys for poor voda rather then good tel$tra. If you having probs tell them to cancel the contract or you will got to the TIO ( thanks tio, helped me control the phone companies)

First it took me 5 weeks to even get my phone, with them constantly telling me it would take NO more then 2 weeks, then they charged me fee's they shouldn't of, Also found out my plan is NOT $450 of credit a month, but $409, when I complained they told me it says that in the terms and conditions. I read the terms and conditions 3 times, it does NOT say that at all. My calls drop out all the time, and sometimes it never calls out at all, I have the worst reception ever, my internet never ever loads, or takes about an hour for anything to actually show up! I get voice mails TWO WEEKS after they have been left... ummm... yeah GREAT work vodafone. Not.

For almost three months now I have been unable to send emails from my iPhone due to Vodafone's outgoing mail server being down. How long for? Well, they're unsure but the quick fix is to use Bigpond webmail which is just damn inconvenient, too slow and awkward on the iPhone.....and what's that costing me in comparison to shooting off a simple email? Dodgy I say! Just dodgy!

On the 3rd attempt i told them i was switching to Telstra and i was NOT going to pay out the rest of my contract, which would have been 1 year and $1,111.00. It took some firm talking and i got off without paying a single cent more!
It was very simple all you have to do is speak to the supervisor and DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

28 Dec 2010 04:00:17 PM: This is a good point. An agreed contract is after all when both parties are carryout what has been stated in the contract. ie, you pay your bills, they provide the service that they state. So if they are NOT fulfilling their side of the contract, remind them in no uncertain terms, stick to your guns. Don't be rude, be firm and you may be pleasantly surprised.

- Constantly dropping from full reception to none whilst on the phone.
- Delays in receiving texts can be minimal, but often delayed by hours, leading to multiple texts being received at the one time.
- 3G reception is very inconsistent.
- There is consistently an increase in monthly insurance costs, yet it's near impossible to make a succesful claim.
- More and more dead spots in my house appearing, especially of late.
- It can take multiple attempts to dial a number before actually connecting with the network.

I live in newcastle and am still under contract with vodafone, my messages come through two days after I send them and you can forget about mms, coverage has been patchy at best up here for two months now, I have approached vodafone who replaced my sim card(which did nothing at all!!) All I got told is there have been no issues reported, but looking at this website tells me otherwise.

Someone, Please BUY them and get us some service. They have a Customer Service Dept who referred me to the T I Ombudsman when all I wanted was to get our 4 sims activated.!!! HELLO !! What the hell are they going to do? However after reading all this stuff others are experiencing, I'm scared they will now be activated - we're changing from 3 Mobile.

I have 2 vodafone contracts (1 for business) and 4 prepaid/plan phones (for my children) in my house. I am continually having to deal with drop outs as i am trying to talk to clients, and it was near impossible to speak to any of my family members over christmas as Port Macquarie and Dubbo do not have
Vodafone coverage???? they are fairly major centres, and as i did not have access to a land line, christmas cheer was pretty dull. Our monthly spend with vodafone averages approx $250, and yet 1 in 3 calls will drop out and either no service or service unavailbale comes up. No use contacting Vodafone themselves as they don't seem to want to do anything......

Well where to begin... I had perfect reception in my area until around 5 months ago when i had No Service. I can't receieve calls at home or messages nothing. There has been times when i have urrgently needed reception but MAJOR FAIL. I went to every vodafone outlet in Canberra and they told me they were 'building new towers' i then rang up and was put on hold for 2 hours to be told that the problem would not be resolved till June because of the 'new towers' I have now been forced to switch to Optus which is a pity because my whole family and friends are on vodafone but don't you wory they are also switching to a reliable service provider. I have no service in my home, or out of doors upwards of 80% of the time - and I live within the metropolitan area! I recently went away for a weekend just outside of Newcastle and had no service for 3 days. Texts messages often fail to come through for hours. On the occasions when there is service, like others, the calls cut out after a short period. Lets on start on internet.... Arrrgh..........

I was convinced to transfer to vodaphone from 3 mobile broadband. Was told no extra cost to me...yeh right.19 dollars a month for 8 gb for 3 months then 39 dollars the next 9 one year contract. All good except 5 days later i get a bill from vodafail for 66 dollars for 5 days broadband use. Then i try and contact them via phone,on hold 30 mins twice was enough for me so reported it to ombudsman here in adelaide,Was told a hold has been put on that amount and someone from vodafail would ring mewithin 10 working days, that was almost 3 weeks ago.so very unaustralian this mob, never do they keep their promises, avoid at all times is my advice.Any company that does not have their call centre in australiashould not be used.

28 Dec 2010 03:43:16 PM: I don't expect anything except a decent service, so that I can actually use my phone. you are just one of the lucky ones i suppose. maybe your using an old phone, using credit, when I had credit I had no problems.. signing up to a plan, i've had all the troubles in the world with them.
28 Dec 2010 03:46:56 PM: i have had a phone with vodafone for years and it is still the same to date, i think everyone on this website is complaining about crap boo hoo they still SHIT all over telstra and their FAKE-G NETWORK
28 Dec 2010 06:22:23 PM: Ok, explain this Mr. VF lover, how come i had better reception, call success rates and internet speed in South Australia 200 km north of Adelaide in the country, but i have serious issues with both internet and mobile phone calls and coverage in suburban Brisbane and on the Gold Coast?? Oh and how come i have to try to speak to a retarded, useless recorded voice NO recognition system for hours to even think about getting near a real person ( In India). Try Virgin Mobile people, they use the Optus network but lots cheaper than Optus or Telstra, my work phone is Optus 3g, my Virgin is 3G and guess what, I get more reception on it than the work phone!

Vodafone and after a period of time on hold, numerous rude persons and being transferred through a number of departments was told that there was a coverage problem however because i had moved into this area after siging the contract it was my fault. Vodafone seemed utterly disinterested in the fact that my new home was less then 5kms from my old address and that i had been assured that Vodafone had excellent coverage by sales staff.
..
I was further told that i would have to pay nearly $1000 to exit my contract.
..
Vodafone has offered no other dispute resolution to this matter. As an emergency services worker who is often called out i rely on good coverage to make and recieve phone calls. Further to this, I find it appalling at the level of customer service and lack of coverage in a Sydney Metro.

I ported my phone number from Vodafone to Optus June 2009 as i no longer had a contract with Vodafone and couldn't stand them. Since that time I have received both paper and electronic 'bills' stating that my bill is due and that I'm actually 29 cents in credit. I have wasted my own time no less than 3 times now ringing, being put on hold, asking to speak to a supervisor etc to get them to delete me from their files. The Voda staff ALL read back to me what is written in my file about the last time I rang and what i asked. Every time I am ASSURED that I will be deleted from their files yet on the 23rd December 2010 I get yet another text message 'alert' saying "your Vodafone bill for account XXXXXXXXX is now available. A total of $-0.29 is due on 12th Jan. Visit online at myvodafone.com.au to view your bill". Surely it is illegal for Vodafone to retain me as an unwilling customer? Surely they must, by law remove me from their accounts? Especially as I have asked time and time again for them to do so?
28 Dec 2010 03:53:09 PM: Go into a Vodafone store. Give em ur billing account number and tell them to remove ur mobile number from ur billing profile.

I live in Sydney's CBD and for the past 3 or 4 weeks have been unable to initiate calls on the first attempt to almost every number I call. Some of my friends who are also on Vodafone are unreachable and I constantly get the recorded message saying they number is unavailable (despite the fact their phones are on and have full coverage).
This situation is getting completely ridiculous and I'm going to be complaining to the TIO (I've already left several requests with Vodafone's contact centre to call me back but have heard nothing!).

After changing to another provider, after my current contract had ran out, they rang me 3 months after to tell me my contract had ran out and gave me offers. I then told them i had already gone to another provider. Its funny that they did not even know!!!
Damaged phone was dropped in water by accident (someone had knocked me while i was texting), and insurance could not be claimed as it were lack of duty of care. It used to be good when they first brought out the cap plans but now its just a pathetic.

- Text messages are often delayed - anything from 30 mins up to 6 hours late.
- Calls drop out around a third of the time.
- I'm really annoyed and disappointed by Vodafone's ongoing issues with 3G/HSPA connectivity. I rely on Internet access through my phone, and for it to be unable to download on HSPA consistently (well over half of the time) is a royal pain. I often have to switch my phone to airplane mode, then back to standard mode, before HSPA comes on and decides to download stuff (and sometimes forcing the connection back on doesn't work either!). The speed I get is inferior to my previous service on Optus.
Not happy Vodafone!
(area wise I go between the Dandenongs, Moorabbin, the city, Monash - and the coverage varies from really really poor (1 bar / none) to reasonable (3 or 4 bars out of 5)

Joined Vodafone 4 months ago, and got the iPhone 4. Four weeks later the phone started stuffing up. No sound on phone calls with earpiece or speaker. Yet the speakers work fine playing music or videos. Sent it back to the store, and was told I'd get it back fixed or replaced in 2-4 weeks. 9 weeks later, still didn't have it back, or any word on what was going on. The store I handed it in to was closed for renovations for 2 months. And in this time not even a phone call was made to let me know. I rang the store with no answer endless times, and phoned the call centre only to be told they have no access to the stores information and have no idea where my phone is or what is going on. Finally the store reopened, and got the phone back. Unrepaired. They are now claiming there is liquid damage to the lower part of the phone. The phone has never been anywhere near any kind of water or liquid. And clearly the issue is a software issue. Just bullsh*t.
On top of this, on the loan phone I am using in the mean time, I am experiencing delays of up to 24 hours on sent and received text messages, my calls are regularly dropping out, and am experiencing massive delays in receiving voicemail messages.

I have no cover when I go to a shopping centre such as Chadstone and numerous places around where I live. They showed me on the internet that the cover at Venus Bay was fine, when I complained they said I would need to ring when I am down there so they can try and find out why I haven't got cover - how can I ring if my phone doesn't work there? About 4 months now and I've absolutely had it.
6688 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 03:19:47 PM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!
28 Dec 2010 03:26:02 PM: I understand this exactly!!! If you have a problem you cannot get a hold of anyone or get an answer!!

No reception in several lecture theatres at my university (the university of queensland), shopping centres, and at my surf club in Kirra. Reception cuts out at my house, and limited connectivity on my vodafone mobile internet. During November, I could not receive incoming calls, or use my internet anywhere at all for 7 days. When I asked a Voda customer service representative why I had reception problems, they told me it was because they couldn't guarantee I'd get service "indoors, anywhere over than my house". I'm incredibly unhappy with Vodafone, and will not use them again.

We (when I say we, I mean 3 of us who are all with vodafone under the same roof) live at the top of Western Australia in Kununurra. Vodafone almost always gives us great full bar reception. For the past 2 weeks we have been lucky to even get one bar, delayed voicemails, txt msgs etc. Not only did they charge me $1200 for a phone bill but they made me pay it twice as it did not show up on their records as paid. Then when contacting customer care (who was somewhere in India might I add) he said he could not reimburse me my second payment of $1200 it would go into credit instead... so $2400 wasted on them just in time for Christmas!

Then got a bill before the month ends and was told by the recorded message when I call vodafone that they are charging the next bill in advance. They didn't tell me that when I switched!! They actually said if I decide to discontinue before the month ends, I will be charged nothing. They have recorded the conversation, I wish I had..... Now I'm paying $30 for a service I couldnt use. Even worse, spent 2 hrs on the phone to wait to speak to someone to cancel my service!

I have been with Voda on & off for years but this contract round they seem to have really dropped their game. Since getting an iPhone 18 months ago my reception just drops out all the time, my 3G connection drops out so I cant access data, voicemail take ages to arrive and sometimes my phone doesnt even ring and I just get a voicemail message, MMS takes ages, etc etc. I recently went to Japan where I used international roaming but was careful not to use my phone much and my bill was still $650!!!!!! However my reception and data speed everywhere in Japan was second to none due to my phone piggy backing with their providers. When I got back I finally decided to get serious and they told me that it could be the phone or sim but they had no defence when I told them about Japan. I asked them to test my area network which came back as 'poor' and they said I could get out of the last 6 months of my contract at no cost, keep my handset and take 2 months with my bills waived to decide. I still left because they just cant provide a decent service and thats what it comes down to.

I was using Vodafone wireless broadband for my laptop. At first it was fine but within 3 months the data download rate began to slow down. After finishing my contract of 24 months and putting up with slow download speeds I decided to look around for a new deal. As it turned out being an existing Vodafone custormer I was offered a well priced deal to rejoin with Vodafone for another 12 months. The price was good but I was worried about download speeds so I checked everything out. Upon resigning for another 12 months with a new USB receiver I was supposed to get access to an improved version of Vodafone's wireless broadband. Unfortunatley what I have found is the download speed is in fact slower than the old one. Oh and they somehow charged me the old price for the month rather than the new discounted price. 10 months to go and I will NOT resign with Vodafail.

6675 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is broadband? more like NARROWBAND! at 28 Dec 2010 03:03:04 PM
I ONLY suffer from Vodafone Mobile Broadband failure. Interestingly, I have been comparing new deals and was very close to switching to Vodafone for my mobile phone, glad I didn't. I live in the heart of the Gold Coast and have been with Vodafone Mobile Broadband for nearly 3 years. At first I was pleased with my decision, but then I also had broadband in the home (with another provider) so any drop-outs or poor coverage mostly went unnoticed or didn't occur. Now is a different story. I rely 100% on mobile broadband with Vodafone and I constantly have major difficulty with coverage, speed and software malfunctions. I run a small design business from my home and in these difficult economic times I have had to find economical solutions to my IT structure, so I have elected only mobile broadband as it serves when I am in the office and when I am away from the office. When will be at the stage when we can have home internet, mobile phone internet and mobile internet for your computer neatly tied up in one compact bundle of bills and hardware. If this does exist, PLEASE someone tell me!

6674 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is is getting worse at 28 Dec 2010 03:02:39 PM
I have been with Vodafail for 18 months. Initially with a Broadband Service with Dell Mini 9 Netbook. After 6 months my connection in Brisbane CBD became choppy and failed after 30-60 secs. Vodafail claimed it wasn't their network, they contact DELL who swapped the entire motherboard. No change to my connection problem. I was swapped to a DELL Mini 10. Again after about 4 months I was having the same problems in Brisbane CBD. They alledgedly sent out network engineers to check my location, who said I do have a coverage problem [in Brisbane CBD !!!] I was offered a a free 4Gb broadband USB stick, as the connection is better than the in-built one in the DELL Mini. I am still paying for my 6Gb in-built data card BUT also paying for a 3Gb Service.
I have complained to vodafail in-store but am still waiting for a reply 1 week later. They discussed options such as the pocket wifi (which has a stronger signal) but I have heard that before !!!
I have also been experiencing phone problems, where the network service is lost in heavily populated areas. And text/voicemail messages coming through days later.

6669 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They are terrible at 28 Dec 2010 03:00:18 PM
We signed up with Vodafone this year and wish we never did. Constant dopped calls terrible reception and the internet is slow as. I tried to talk to people in customer service and they just transfered me from one person to another. I have spent several hours on hold. I would love to be out of my contract and go with a more reliable service provider. I was on Virgin and was much happier.

6667 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 100% suck at 28 Dec 2010 02:55:58 PM
i have been a happy vodafone customer for 3 years now and never had any problems until now my calls keep on dropping out and sending txt msgs is becoming a problem due to network issues.i have called them up heaps of times and get the same response each time "we are terribly for the inconvenience and will give you $15 bonus credit", but this dosnt not help as im on the $79 cap and never go over it anywase so is pointless.they are so frustrating and are going to loose heaps of customers because of this.
6666 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is in every way at 28 Dec 2010 02:55:57 PM
I had same signal dropping issues. The network is really crappy and today I just have discovered that I can make international mobile calls but not on an int landline no. I have been trying to dial an international landline no for the last an hour but instead of connecting me overseas it kept telling me that my request had been submitted. And then i dialled the same no from a Telstra home fone and it worked. I don't know how could i get rid of my agreement with Vodafone.
6665 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail :( at 28 Dec 2010 02:55:56 PM
I started up my contract with vodafone a few months ago after being with them pre-paid for quite some time. At that stage I was living on the Sunshine Coast where the reception was ok... I wouldn't say excellent but I didn't have too many issues. Having now moved to Hervey Bay about a month ago I am not getting reception either in my workplace or at my own home! It is absolutely ridiculous as I don't have a landline to rely on although I certainly will be getting one soon. Please step up and do something about this or I will be another customer lost and I will ensure I tell everyone considering vodafone how bad they are!
28 Dec 2010 03:16:40 PM: Ask them to test your network coverage in both those addresses, which they have to if you are on a personal contract, and if they are poor then you are allowed to get out of your contract without any charges or fee's. If they don't co-operate then you can threaten to contact the TIO and they will change their tune...
6664 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is coverage at 28 Dec 2010 02:54:15 PM
I signed with vodafail 3 years ago my contract is soon to expire thank god. it has been a nightmare coverage is extremely poor even through I was guaranteed coverage in all areas by my business consultant. signed on for a $349 per month contract and every month it is over by at least $150 despite all complaints intermittent email data coming to the phone. Tried to get out of contract and was told I would have to pay $2695 for the privledge
6663 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is rubbish at 28 Dec 2010 02:53:35 PM
the best bet for me was to turn my phone to manual reception and select 2 & 3 G.
when i call customer service ALWAYS ask for complaints to get out of the automated system.

6662 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is FUBAR at 28 Dec 2010 02:52:49 PM
1stly they misrepresented the dell deal to my 72yo grandfather who was told it was FREE, and seeing as he needed internet he tried to listen, signed a contract for 24 mths in which the dell mini 10 was supposedly free, which he still has in plastic ( he used a dongle on a desktop) and a 6gb 3g plan as ADSL is NOT available in his area....6-7 mths into the contract he gets SLAMMED with a bill for $300+ in excess usage when he would at most use the net for 2 - 3 times a month for 1 - 2 hrs at a time, this is When and IF he CAN get service. Being 70+ and having limited pc knowledge i have his windows account as a user not admin and he CANNOT install programs, this keeps my maintainance of his pc down. and Prevents P2P or malware , virii etc...now i phoned vodafone re the charges and they say that they apply....This is his Second Contract and THEY TRIED THIS BULLSHIT ON THE OTHER ONE ALSO! At approx the same time through the contract.... I SMELL SOMETHING FISHY, and it looks like its coming from VODAFONES WAY! I will now complain to the TIO for them selling a contracted item on finance to a NON english speaking elderly gent who has NO technology understanding let alone a grasp of english. Admittedly he signed it, but he was not aware of what he was signing and was not in a position to be able to make a reasonable decision, SHAME ON YOU VODAFONE for ripping off pensioners.
6661 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is messed up at 28 Dec 2010 02:51:59 PM
poorest reception! Also constant delays when sending/receiving texts. ex...A mate text me from downstairs, one hour later we were on a train when i finally got the message. I'm porting to telstra even if they are a rip off, at least i'll get coverage?
6660 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Do not honour promos at 28 Dec 2010 02:50:03 PM
years back I bought an Ericsson A2618 (pre-Paid) which came with a bluetooth headset (died a couple months later) and a I think $150 credit bonus. Vodafone would not honor the bonus free credit despite several phone calls to enquire then complain. it was their promo, should have learnt my lesson back then.
6659 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failboat at 28 Dec 2010 02:47:55 PM
I was told when signing my contract that I would experience 90% coverage in "established areas". I live in Berwick and Work in Blackburn and experience less that 40% coverage in both!
On top of that, the 3G mobile broadband speeds are so inconsistent. They either work badly, or dont work at all!!

6658 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Half a bar service on internet at 28 Dec 2010 02:47:33 PM
Why with such a hype about coverage, yet I live in Melbourne and can only get one bar on my internet service??? You then take the time to go into the store and ask about the coverage, and they show you on their pc that I'm in the area for coverage. NOT! AND WHY???? WHY would I want to be on the phone for hours to someone who's not even in this country discussing my coverage issues, when they've not even been here, or know of where I"m talking about???? Optus here I come. Vodafone...you have definately failed since launching in Australia...shame
6657 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TOTAL FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 02:47:31 PM
I have just signed up with Vodafone about 1 month ago, i was previously with Optus had no problem with the network, so i thought this is my first contract for me as i am 20 years old this was my first contract, i went on the infinant plan with the HTC Trophy 7, i charged it up used it the next day, but no one could hear me, thankfull i had my Optus phone next to me thinking the people might not know my new voda number, i took the phone back to Vodafone, whom replaced it with another phone, but the problem still continues, the sales rep confirmed to me that Vodafone had network issues for the past 2 months, i have not been using my Voda number, as i am put of, we use our mobiles for socially and for business, as well as emergencies, that is what we sign up for, it makes it so painfull that i had signed up for something that i cannot use, and pay for the next 2 years. I am not giving up, i will make sure that i will be either compansated or out of my contract.
