Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

5948 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Shockingly bad at 28 Dec 2010 06:51:00 AM
I moved from Sydney to Legana just outside of Launceston in July. I have NO reception where I live. None, zip, zero. It's not like I'm out in the middle of the country either. If I drive up to the Legana shopping centre, I still have no reception, I don't get reception until I am almost in Launceston itself, and then it drops out in a lot of places in Launceston. I am in the middle of a 2 year contract, although I've been with Vodafone for over a decade. They want me to pay $120 for every month since I moved here and in that time I have been able to send and receive a few text messages over the full month whilst in town, and to make a couple of phone calls. When I have rung up to complain it is near impossible to slice through the layers of computerised help to speak to a person, and when I do speak to people, they are of no help, but make "a note in my file" which translates to nothing as the next time I call, there is no information available to the next person about my issues. I cannot use my phone, this is a joke! I am trying to set up a business and I do not have the use of my mobile phone. Now I can't use it at all as I refuse to keep paying huge bills for no service. They can't call me to discuss it, because I have no reception, and they can't reach me. You'd think they'd realise there's a bit of an issue when they can't even ring you to talk to you due to your constant lack of reception. I guess my next step is to go to the Ombudsman. EPIC FAIL Vodafone.
28 Dec 2010 06:05:44 PM: So i am unsure how Voda could now you were going to move somewhere with no coverage when you signed up 12 months before you moved ? A little bit of personal responsability goews a long way, Had you of lost coverage at your Sydney address then i think you would have fair reason to complain, But you move mid contract and expect out ? Also if you know they cant contact you on your mobile logic says you would give them another contact number rather than set them up to fail... ???

I constantly have no reception at home whereas previously everything was fine. It is taking 2-3 days for SMS message to come through to my phone. I have been a very happy Vodafone customer for years however due to the latest problems I may be looking elsewhere.
5945 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:47 AM
I live in Adelaide's North Eastern suburbs and switched to Vodafone about 14 months ago after being a Telstra customer of over 18 years. Took out a $124 plan which included mobile internet (via USB modem). Having switched to Vodafone my wife also takes a $30 prep paid plan also.
I'll say from the outset that the Technical service received has been excellent - much better than Telstra but the phone and internet coverage, particularly in my area has been very disappointing. Running a small business from home, I find that I cannot have a decent conversation without fear of dropping out (which usually happens). I've actually given up on the trying to get reliable coverage through the USB modem and put it down as a bad investment!
I sent an email to Vodafone reporting the problem and seeking some advice of proposed system upgrades which may improve these services, particularly in my area. To their credit, I received a reply within 24 hours stating that there were no planned upgrades to these services - which means one of two things. Either I will attempt to opt out of my plan and switch back to Telstra or Optus or, if this is not possible, wait until it expires in October 2011 and put up with the the poor frustrating service.
This is a pity because I have found Vodafones customer service to be 100 times better than that of Telstra, but Telsra's reliability is 100 times better than Vodafones - even though you have to pay through the nose for it!
I bet that Telstra are rubbing their hands wathcing this whole episode unravel.

5944 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Coverage at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:18 AM
i catch the ferry to/from meadowbank & king st wharf every day. The coverage continually drops in & out throughout the journey. Further to that, right throughout Sydney, I continually get no coverage despite the phone showing good coverage. I tried to call vodafone re these problems but hung up after being on hold for 40 mins. I'm waiting until Feb when my contract ends and switching. If I can't get through to customer care then, I'm going to the TIO
5943 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is In All Ways at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:14 AM
I have missed important medical appointments from failed voicemail messages that I have not been able to listen to / retrieve.
Takes upto 3-5 days to retrieve messages both voice and text.
I have been kept on hold for upto 1 hour 3 different times in one day regarding a phone bill that I have paid, I have the receipt with a receipt number, but the operator did not want to know that, he wanted to argue I hadn't paid the bill. I am still waiting for a hard copy to be posted to me and prove that I have paid for that bill.
I also find their billing system pathetic; why they have to send it in an email is beyond me.
Service drop out is ridiculous: I have hardly any coverage at all;
The last time I spoke to Vodafone about all my issues, I told them I would be looking to change carrier, he wasn't too fussed - told me to have a nice day. This is not customer service.

5939 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extreme at 28 Dec 2010 06:48:25 AM
Signed up to a good deal on a 24 month contract. Was promised great reception at Hervey Bay QLD (populated tourist area) Dropped calls bad reception in 90% of Hervey Bay. Phone squealing in my ear with error. Phone disconnects all the time. Impossible to get through to customer service. Bad phone and the short of it is. I am tied into a 24 month plan I can't even use my phone at all. Most the time it wont even let me send a text from an area I was promised good reception. I defiantly checked the reception on there website before entering into the contract.
28 Dec 2010 06:51:16 AM: Also I got a vodem stick and that was an absolute waste of time. I have changed to Optus and counted my losses with that months 8GB of data with vodafone I cant use. Optus is mint. Gutted I didnt go with them for everything.

5936 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is beyond acceptable at 28 Dec 2010 06:46:27 AM
I signed up for Vodafone mobile broadband internet in 2009. Despite Vodafone advertising that they had 3G reception in the areas I used it, the reception was so poor, and the experience so frustrating, that I recently switched to Telstra even though I knew I would still have to pay off my Vodafone plan. After switching to Telstra I was shocked: I had no idea mobile broadband could be so fast and reliable.
In fact, it pissed me off so much I have signed up for the Piper Alderman class action after just hearing about it on ABC News Breakfast. Check it out here: http://www.piperalderman.com.au/vf/

5935 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 3 is no longer a magic number at 28 Dec 2010 06:45:45 AM
Moving from 3 to vodaphone my expectation was that the service would remain the same. Unfortunately this is not the case - Drop outs - poor 3G reception, constantly having to dicsconect my cellular network / reconnect my network - only to find that reception in the same location goes from none to full. I was a huge fan of the service that 3 and telstra offered - no so with vodaphone. Would never have started a vodaphone contract if i had the choice - will not be renewing mine either.

As a happy I left before it went to crap ex Vodafone Australia staff, so prior the Vodafone Hutchison Australia debacle... I feel for all the customer we once served and provided an excellent AU based customer service led organization.
At the end of the day after the merger of Vodafone and 3 there is only 1 director remaining, Dave 'Brutus' Boorman. The current 'VHA' ,a left over 85% 3 Management led company, is destroying a global legacy of innovation.
I would suggest that the Vodafone plans released prior the merger of a 900 and 2100 network were working and sound, the '3' mentality of knowing better than Vodafone globally, instead they went with 850 as well, with 900 and 2100, Michael 'SMS' Young should stand up and be proud.
It is a shame that Nigel 'SMS2' Dews decided to rid the organization of all of the 'professional' telecoms people and instead leave with the 'Hillsong' and 'car salesmen'...
I would suggest that is another organization that might want to investigate the dealings of the general management for some 'interesting' and questionable business practices.

5932 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Excruciating at 28 Dec 2010 06:44:17 AM
I simply cannot bear ONE MORE MINUTE of this - Vodafone has had a HUGELY detrimental effect on my personal and business life. Every phone call I make drops out at least 2-4 times per call. Sometimes I have to wait 30 minutes or more in between calls between I can even get a signal. 'No Service' is now more typical than ANY reception. Internet drops out around every 20-30 seconds. It's dropped out 3 times while I've been trying to submit this posting alone - unbelievable. I can't get ANYTHING done. It's excruciating and I just can't believe it's been going on so long, with no resolution. I am fit to scream.
5931 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafone is Pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 06:43:58 AM
We have been with Vodafone for years and now I think about the service and reception has always been a problem. I will be at work waiting for staff to get back to me about replacing shifts and my phone coverage will just drop out. hours later i realise when it comes back because the phone doesnt stop ringing with messages and emails. It is even worse in the rain as soon as it rains don't expect any reception. The year we had floods i tried to call my BF (who is with Vodafone as well) with an emergency and could not get through because their is no coverage in crap weather. Lucky his parents mobiles are Telstra which worked fine. not to mention we have been trying to upgrade our pathetic phones for a couple of months now because they no longer work and we had to wait until exactly 3 months left to do so without paying out a contract. They would not even let us upgrade one week before when i went in and showed them how bad my phone was (I can't even see who calls me anymore). We have decided enough is enough with vodafone and we are in the process of changing to Telstra and getting out of our contracts. You might pay more with Telstra but at least if you have an emergency you can count on their reception. So frustrated 6 years with this company and they have gotten worse every year and no one ever wants to help :(

5929 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Voda is hopeless TIO is worse at 28 Dec 2010 06:43:17 AM
Had a few Voda services in the past 3 years, Text messages never arrive at recipient, data service is pathetic. Overseas operators refusing to abide by Australian Laws regarding privacy, TIO is just a wall to stop consumers complaining, TIO serves no other purpose, TIO should be disbanded. All telcos are selling products which do not work, they should be held to account, the TIO is pointless waste of time, same as Rental Bond Board always on the vendors side bugga the consumer.

5927 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Overcharging at 28 Dec 2010 06:42:48 AM
Vodafone have been charging me for a contract that ended in April 2010. When I FINALLY got through on their overseas number after 5 attempts and over an hour of waiting. I have written 3 times on their customer service contact email and they agreed to reimburse only the amount the call and the email, even though the email was to follow up why I hadn't been reimbursed. I still haven't been reimbursed and plan to contact WA Commerce Department consumer complaints to follow up formally.
..and I am still being billed by Vodafone!
..and I am still being billed by Vodafone!
28 Dec 2010 04:54:55 PM: Stop paying the bill and then you can get your money back if they take you to court.
5 Jan 2011 10:40:54 AM: You should check whether your not paying a bill you appear not to be liable to pay has enabled Vodafone to make a false report to the various credit check databases. It could mean that their mistake is giving you a bad credit rating. And then it could be YOU taking them THEM to court.
14 Jan 2011 05:41:06 PM: Talk to Vodafone man. Don't listen to idiots that tell you not to pay,
14 Jan 2011 05:49:58 PM: Pay the bill, but escalate to the TIO :)
20 Jan 2011 01:37:55 PM: And make sure you get paid interest on the money they shouldn't have had for the time they have had it. Make sure you HAVE a high interest bearing account, even if it only has $1 in it.You'd have more, but Vodafone has it.

I am a Vodafone Prepaid Mobile Broadband customer of over 5 months and the data drop outs are incredible. How a telco is allowed to remain in business with such a crappy service is unbelievable! The annoying part is that I get full signal strength, but am continually dropped out as soon as my modem goes idle - which is really great when your in the middle of paying a bill or internet banking. GREAT WORK VODAFONE !!!
5921 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Wireless in Bondi Beach at 28 Dec 2010 06:38:08 AM
Vodafone fail, again.
4.30 - 6.30am (could still be non-running but I'm on my desktop)
Bondi beach.
No Wireless Coverage.
Not exactly a high usage time.
It's not so much the loss of revenue for me, but the annoyance, frustration and lack of confidence I'm getting for mobile browsing all together.
I'd like to research and learn when sitting watching my baby, but alas, I just get frustrated as my iPhone is completely useless!
I'd suggest any CEO should forfeit their bonuses for such a disgraceful service.

I've been a Vodafone customer for awhile but endured the incredibly poor reception because the 'big' telco ahd annoyed me so I switched. I thought the poor reception and dropping out was due to me living in Darwin, but believed I would be rewarded with crystal clear and prompt everything when I moved to Queensland. No dice. If I'm in a building? fat chance of making a call....Now I'm just waiting for my plan to run down so i can switch to Optus.

i have been a vodafone customer since 2000, and just six months ago i received a call for an upgrade to a iphone and a 24months contract, since then the problem started and i wish i didnt.I have call them alot off times to discuss the problem but nothing gets resolve at the end of the calls.
The first two months into my contract i was hit hard with $$$$ and it never stop there, everymonth it goes up.
I signed up for $79. but i get charged more than that, for some crazy recent, i have given up calling them....
Extremly poor reception text sent late and arrives late and i am to scared to use my phone for anything else because i am already paying to much for just using it for text and phone call so if i try to go online and mms how much more will it cost me and i have no idea why and im now locked in with this contract that i got coned into, which im not happy about.
even though i get crap reception i still pay my bill ontime because i am to scared they might put extra $$$$$s ontop of it again.
before i make a call overseas i check my balance to see how much is there and time myself, i feel as if im a victim to myself?
I feel that they are only interested in getting the money every month and dont care what the customer says and or feels?
please so something about it..

We tried to run an emergency business using three mobiles phone. Our calls would drop out when we were talking to clients. Sometimes we would have to call a person 5 times use to have a conversation. We lost business as calls went straight to message bank, We had to use our house phone to make calls
This service caused so many arguments between us that in the end i had to try to cancel our plans, spending hours going into the shop, hours on the phone to customer care, hours organising to send the phones back other wise you have to pay them out. Always write down times and ask customer care for a reference number.
Some one advised me to make sure i sent back the phones by registered mail because they will call to say they never received the mobiles back, sure enough two months later i still had a bill of $1.600 went through two hours of calls they started an investigation to see where the phones were i kept all the registered mail receipts and phone Aust post they told me when the phones arrived and the day the phones arrived , time and who signed it. With out providing them this information i am sure i would have been charged for phone i returned. We are now with Telstra and our service has never dropped out.
YOU CAN GET OUT OF YOUR CONTRACT (but we wont ever get our lost business back)

5912 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is enormous fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:34:23 AM
The question was asked when signing up "I have heard about bad signal/coverage with Vodafone and has this improved?" The reply was "YES". I can assure any new customers of Vodafone that this is not the case. The phone was purchased from Vodafone for our teenage daughter so that she could contact us in an emergency and vice versa, she is not even able to get a signal in her own home. We live in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Myself and my husband have our mobile phones with Telstra and have NEVER EVER had signal problems.

With out providing them this information i am sure i would have been charged for phonesmice feshists i returned. We are now with Telstra and our service has never dropped out.
YOU CAN GET OUT OF YOUR CONTRACT (but we wont ever get our lost business back)

I purchased a plan that included music downloads etc.I tried everything to get music onto the phone that was supplied to me. I spent endless hours on the phone mostly because "Lara" couldn't work out where to send my calls. My calls were diverted to Malaysia where the operator told me to 'Just go with another server" and HUNG UP ON!
I finally had some luck when I rang a store in Sydney and the helpful chap told me that my phone was not one that I could use the plan on. I took it back to my local store where I bought it and was told "Not My Fault". At the same time I pointed out that I was supposed to be having free Vodafone to Vodafone calls. They informed me that I was supposed to ring up and start this up myself. How the hell was I supposed to know. In all I had paid for 4 months worth of calls that were supposed to be free. I told the storeperson I was not happy and he said "you're free to go with someone else" - bullocks, I still contract.
I hate Vodafone, I hate LARA and I let everyone I know not to go with Vodafone.

5906 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is data, drop outs and VM at 28 Dec 2010 06:32:21 AM
Vodafone has been unreliable over the last moths. particularly the 3g network. Loss of signal on a continual basis. with this poor performance of the the 3g network the data has been very bad. Slow, un reliable are the best descriptions. Anything on 3 g has been bad. Having to flip over to 2g is not the answer but at least the calls dont drop out as much and SMS gets through.
5905 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is vodafails in rural areas at 28 Dec 2010 06:30:40 AM
I've signed up for vodafone on a 24 month phone contract, and also had vodafone broadband. Firstly, the broadband coverage is lousy, dreadfully slow and painful to say the least. Out of frustration I've gone to a prepaid telstra mobile broadband and that gets coverage virtually everywhere I travel, and is very fast - but this is not acceptable of vodafone's service. I've paid for service and fail to get it reliably, even in major towns like wagga dubbo and orange NSW.
The contract for the phone is what really angers me. Whilst watching cricket with huge vodafone sponsorship blazed all over it, I'm locked into a contract for service which is very limited in coverage even around town, and frequently has dropouts and service shutdowns. To actually get onto someone human in their 1555 help service is near impossible, and takes so long that most times I've just hung up in disgust. I have 4 sons, and I don't trust vodafone to provide coverage, which is non-existant anyhow between towns, whereas Telstra NextG seems to give coverage anywhere (but is more expensive), so I provide them with Telstra prepaids as vodafone I can't trust for their safety. However you only have to barely venture outside town limits and vodafone is gone, and this is crazy.

I live in Sydney and use my phone for work and have too many times to count not been able to send txt messages, received voicemails one or two days late. Calls drop out or reception is poor right across Sydney.
I have IPhone and the data delivery is a joke. I resent payng $74 a month and being locked into a contract with these people
Only saving is work have now given me a Blackberry from Telstra - which works perfectly.

5902 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 06:29:13 AM
I got a month to month plan with vodafone just to try out the service, for some reason i have never had reception issues what so ever, i have a blackberry however which is only 2G, I think people expect way too much from their phones these days, dead set go back to basics and purchase something more practical! all these wankers out there that want and expect their phones to do so much, they are for calls and txt! not fucking internet and facebook, get a life! REWIND 5 yrs I say!!!
One thing that did shit me however is vodafones billing service, I cancelled that plan months ago and continue to get bills, I had a bill in credit and yet to recieve a cheque for $75
I think vodafone should spend more money on their call centres, network towers, coverage maps rather then V8 supercars, F1 and cricket!
Get your shit together!

28 Dec 2010 06:34:40 AM: My issue IS BASICS! Crap reception, or none between rural towns. Constant call dropouts, having to turn off then on the phone to get voda reception and on it goes. All this is capped by call centres which keep you on hold for 20 mins or more, and have operators that barely understand and certainly rarely sympathise with your problems or issues or fix them completely when they do. I'm only on a basic phone, and all I want is reliable coverage and operation. I don't trust vodafail for my kids phones, they all have telstra NextG and frequently have perfect coverage where I have none.

I went with vodafone about a year ago and after 3 months of having no reception even in the middle of a city of 70000 people and being charged extra for things I had no idea about I tried to cancel my plan, it took me a month but they finally cancelled it...well I thought so until they started taking money off my credit card every month without my permission. I called up again and they said it hadn't been cancelled properly and said they would refund the amounts they had withdrawn. So another 2 months later I still hadn't received a refund so I called up yet again and finally they sent through a refund...for only half what they owed me but I was over being on hold for 2 hours while they 'checked my account' so I left it. Then last week I get a letter saying I owe them money!! I called again and was put on hold for over an hour at which stage I had to hang up. I guess I will just have to try again this week but I HATE VODAFONE!

I have to turn my phone on and off to recieve reception back when I havent moved! I have been shopping and heard a phone salesman use "vodafone has excellent reception" WHAT!!! Soon set him straight to prevent further people falling into the trap. Also the insurance is a joke with noone I know getting their phone fixed withour having to pay a large amount. And having to pay postage to get something that broke inside of warranty terms has got to be illegal.

5887 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Voda network seriously poor and has never delivered as promised. at 28 Dec 2010 06:24:50 AM
As a business user, I left Optus because we lost our local account manager. I switched to Vodafone because a Voda agent (local) promised us we'd always have local support if we had problems. This is has ALWAYS been the case. This has been almost three years. Thanks Red Mercury.
To those complaining about specific phones (particularly iPhones) their poor reception and antennas is well documented. It is your fault. I also chose a phone that delivers poor reception in my home. The good ol' Nokias power on. Suggestion is research the antenna and transmission power.
Now the buckets: the promised expansion to the actual VODA network and increased data speeds have never eventuated. I thought it would be OK as I'm not normally "too far" away from what I believe to be metro or reasonable regional locations.
Data speeds for wireless internet access in Sydney are rarely HSDPA (normally 3G only) and one of the worst locations is the airport (where you really need it). Coverage in Newcastle NSW was hopeless and we're talking one of Australia's largest cities.
What burned me most (as I do travel extensively) was a total lack of coverage (on both phones) at Heathcote in Victoria, a significant regional town in a significant regional area (Bendigo). Heathcote is not much more than 100km from Melbourne, yet reception is only picked around Lancefield.
Forget it if you want to go down the Yorke Peninsula (SA) once you're past Ardrossan. Point to point across the water it is less then 70km so not hard to fire a signal straight across the water. Telstra doesn't seem to have problem getting down there.
Oh, and don't let me forget that Vodafone itself called me to try and poach the business away from their own agent that had supported our business well over the life of our contract. Shame on you vodafone.
We are just deciding what to do now... stay with Voda (for the beaut agent customer service) or take the plunge and go to Telstra for the superior coverage.
But like most here I HATE offshore call centres. So if I can get a local account manager, the decision is likely made.

The charges are enormous, we have near the most expensive networks in the world, massive call connection charge, where are the customer's rights?
From now on I will refer to this company as Vodafail until they fix their network.

I signed a two year contract with vodafail for wireless internet. I travel with my job but no Vodapone connectivity in MANY MANY MANY places and none ever here at home. Even where you can connect constantly dropping out. I complained to the fellow I bought the Vodapone plan off. He said that there must have been something wrong with the equipment because Vodaphone had good coverage. Gave me another piece of junk that still doesn't work and guess what....I have another plan but he didn't submit cancellation (with reasons) of the first! I had two bills and no connectivity. They never reimbursed me for the double billing...I was told that I had to get that fixed by their agent, not their problem I was told. The agent out of business and Vodaphone still not interested but eventually they did cancel the first contract. Six months of double payment though. It still doesn't work, no connectivity in many places, and I'm still locked into a contract with Vodapone! Vodafail. Good name for a dud service.

I frequently have no service at all in Warrawee. Call failures all over Sydney are common.

I have to walk to the street to use my vodafail phone. Im in Woodford in the blue Mountains. When I signed up the coverage maps showed full coverage. But when I complained and tried to get a refund they basically laughted at me and said there will be a payout figure to pay. Bad luck customer we already have your money ha ha.

Signed up to a contract on 3 December 2010. After hours of communications with vodafone and many tears I still have No phone (did not work within 1 hr of signing up and they would not replace, but instead send away for repairs), and I have now found that I do not get coverage at my address and they refuse to cancel my contract. I have now been 25 days without a phone. Shameful and money grabbing of them. I am taking my claim to small claims.
5863 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No reception in Brisbane at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:58 AM
We can get limited reception at the back of the house or on the street, but not in the house at all.....and we live in Shailer Park, Brisbane. That means that we often get messages after we drive out of the estate - hope there are never anyu URGENT messages. Telstra works fine.
5862 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big time fail! at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:36 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over 10 years and up until 12 months ago had great coverage, good customer service (although getting through to the right area with "Lara" was always painful), no problems with either my mobile or internet connections. Then my internet started having connection problems, dropping out repeatedly and generally not performing to the standard I expected for what I was paying for. I made call after call after call to complain to be told it was my computer, the network was busy, etc - all complete nonsense. After 4 months of calls to fix the problem, I finally reached a gem of a man called Alain who was at a call centre in San Francisco, he listened patiently to my rants, actually apologised and then proceeded to find out what the real problem was and although this took him a few days he called me back when he had gathered the information - in short there were major network problems in my area and I was never going to have good connection. I can honestly say this man was way too good and professional to be working for Vodafone as he actually cared about his customer and had the integrity to be honest. Not one person in any of the Australian call centres could be bothered to help me or provide any honest information about the network other than to lay blame elsewhere (ie. my equipment). Unfortunately it was too little too late and I severed my internet and mobile accounts with them. I still have a prepaid with them (which when the credit runs out this month I am changing to another providor) and I called my parents this morning to tell them about this website as I'd seen it on the news last night and guess what? - that's right - my call didn't connect as the network was busy! What rubbish - it's 8am on Public Holiday, everyone's still asleep!!
5861 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Terrible. at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:25 AM
Terrible experience, I spend at least $200 with Vodafone a month yet my phone and internet barely work. I will be changing everything to another telco as soon as possible. Reception is not there and cannot get hold of customer service. Been with Vodafone over 6 years and their inability to act and address the issue at hand means that I will be canceling all of my business and personal contracts with them. Disappointing considering I used to be a Vodafone employee.
5860 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 10% at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:11 AM
A 10% fail rate is very inconvenient, whilst driving the phone drops out numerous times. I drive home along Eastlink and the phone always drops out near High st and then at Ringwood bypass, then a third time on Wonga rd. I always have to apologise in advance and call back. I have a telstra pre paid for when I travel out of city so I get some coverage!
5859 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SHOCKING! at 28 Dec 2010 06:15:05 AM
I have two mobile phones. One for my business aswell as personal and the other for my wife. I am very dissapointed and SO ANNOYED at their reception service. Cuts out ALL THE TIME in many areas as well as my home. It is really getting bad, as i am speaking to clients. I am a capenter and need to ba able to discuss needs in detail and VODAFONE can not provide my needs.
When am at home and i have to continue to ring clients back or go walk about outside to find a better reception spot. This is not good enough. I should be able to sit in my office and speak to clients without issue. It is very frustrating not just for me but for clients as well, especially potential future clients. I need to be able to conduct business professionally.
I am also unable to speak to my wife on the mobile when i am at job sites as she is at home with 2 young babies. She is unable to go walk about outside to find reception area when her mobile rings. She answers and can not speak for long before cutting out. Only one part of the house can get a little reception. This is very frustrating for her too.
We will defanately be leaving Vodafone when contracts finish and going to a more respectable service provider.
Vodafone will never get our business again as customer service is low and you get fed up being on hold. Never again.

Been Vodafone customer for over 10 years. Recently bought a smartphone to be all modern & browse internet on the go, etc. There were some days where I was unable to access the internet for up to 8 hours at a time. I was moving around in different suburbs (going to work, etc), but it didn't matter where I was, the problem was the same.
Eventually I called Vodafone and was told there might be a problem with the APN settings in my phone. The call centre person talked me through the steps to fix it.
After that, my phone didn't access the internet AT ALL.
I had to go into a shop to get the settings fixed. That meant I was back where I started: with some days where I couldn't access the internet for hours.
Also, calls drop out quite often without reason. I originally thought I was using the smartphone wrong and accidentally hanging up the calls. I'm careful now. But calls still drop out.
Sometimes when I'm at home, SMSs can take hours to get to me.

Been a vodafone customer for over ten years. The past few years have been frustrating, the past 6 months have been ridiculous! I have never had so many drop outs, no network messages, failed calls, no data, voicemails failing to come through for 12 hours etc etc etc! I have lived in he same area for 6 years. My husband has no trouble with optus. My daughters are with vodafone as well. We are all having the same problems. Calls to off shore help centers don't help either. With suggestions of keeping a log noting when all this happens. After a few hours of constantly writing notes I gave up. I think that all vodafone customers should stop paying their accounts enmasse till vodafone takes this serious. We are being given the run around constantly and yet they ar still raking in the millions! Totally over it and totally regret re signing withbthem!!
5856 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is We'll Have to Wait at 28 Dec 2010 06:12:13 AM
The government is currently considering legislation to have a standard of reliability for mobile phones, this would be implemented using the NBN as a support mechanism, there is currently no magic bullet guarantee on reliability of service and all of them have currently has a clause in their post-pay contracts to this affect.
5855 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is frequently no reception at 28 Dec 2010 06:11:47 AM
I am a three customer and have big problems with Three in Weetangera. My daughter also is a three customer and has ongoing reception issues. Currently in Young she is using her boyfriend's mobile to keep in touch. I wonder how other Three customers are getting on. Three and vodafone are now linked.

5854 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Bad reception and delayed texts at 28 Dec 2010 06:11:45 AM
My Vodafone reception fails in so many places where those with other providers can use their phones. I have to walk outside of most shopping centres, often lose reception when in open areas and sometimes the service simply stops working altogether so that I have to switch my phone off and back on again to re-establish a connection. Texts I send and receive, especially those with photos attached, are often delayed and finally arrive at either end in the early hours of the morning, scaring the living daylights out of the recipient.
5853 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is massive at 28 Dec 2010 06:11:35 AM
St.Lawrence, Central Queensland, tower, does not seem to be maintained any more. Everytime the area loses power, Vodafone disappears, sometimes days on end, been with them since 1996, in different areas, calls drop out continuously, now only have one prepaid mobile, main mobile with another seemingly more reliable carrier, in March 2010 reliability increased, just walk away, I did.

28 Dec 2010 06:14:36 AM: P.S. (I forgot!)
Whenever I tried to call Vodafone about these problems, their call waiting time was often over 40 minutes (as per the recorded message at the start of the call). One time, that recorded message DIDN'T say a long wait time, so I thought I'd get through. I hung up after 40 minutes.
When I asked the person in the shop, she said it was because everyone wanted the new iPhone. (How does high demand for a new handset cause long wait times in the call queue to get internet problems fixed???)

I was told the area I live is fully covered when I obtained the connection. But I cannot take incoming or out going calls from home. I cannot receive my text messages or the emails too. Very poor service, I cannot speak to a Customer Service agentas I am put on hold for in excess of 50 minutes. I am not joking 50 minutes. Do you think anyone has time to be on hold for that long. It is a rip off.
5850 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big BULLY at 28 Dec 2010 06:10:28 AM
Started a plan with vodafone early this year; never received one single bill until one 'final notice demand' several months later, followed by threats from a debt recovery agency. I called and went in to see vodafone several times leading to and since the incident to request invoices that never came. Phone has long since been disconnected by vodafone, yet they expect me to pay!
5849 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a shocker at 28 Dec 2010 06:09:38 AM
Vodafone provides me with the poorest quality communication products on the market for the worst value money can buy. I have a phone I can hardly ever use as its rarely in service, And when It is in range of a signal, the line gets static and drops out constantly. My friends and family don't have this problem as none of them are a Vodafone customer, as they like to remind me every time my phone drops out:( I also have vodafone mobile broadband, with the reception and net speeds so bad I believe it could be worse than the third world countries Vodafail probably bought their technology from, on sale off the back of a wooden cart.
