Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

1633 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100% at 27 Dec 2010 07:53:21 AM
I live in an area of Frankston where network coverage is notoriously bad. However while I was with Vodafone there were ocassions where I could never get any coverage. I was also convinced to to take out Wi-fi broadband coverage with them. The same issues again; I would would be using the internet and it would cut out frequently. Fortunately I also have a pay as you go service with Telstra and I now use them as my only internet provider.
I have now also switched to Telstra for my mobile; the mobile coverage has improved slightly (Bring on the NBN!). However Vodafone convinced me to open up a 24 month plan for the internet. I have not used their service in months yet I am still forced to pay $40 a month for a reduntant service. I feel cheated, powerless and angry that I am being ripped off. However as a result of what I have seen on this website I will contact them with a view to getting out of the contract.
What a fantastic website, keep up the good work!

1632 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 3G NETWORK at 27 Dec 2010 07:51:50 AM
Anyone being told adjust your phone's settings to change it BACK to the 2G network? You are paying the cost to be on the 3G network, with current area coverage and problems - the 2G network is a less powerful system, with LESS coverage, and you are still paying to have 3G. Dont let this way of fixing the problem be the resolution! You are paying the money, contracted to the 3G network, dont be fooled by anyone into changing to the lesser system. FIX IT properly Vodafone
1631 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Customer service at 27 Dec 2010 07:51:03 AM
Customer Service throughout the Vodafone network, including its retail store distribution is disturbing. Firstly, Lara... please someone get ride of her.I came off contract October 23rd 2010 on hold for two periods of 1 and a half hours each trying to discontinue with this unprovider, finially got through to somewhere in the world, got onto to pre paid, still recieved email informing me of continued billing, spent another 40 minutes on hold again.Vodafone if your reading this customer service should be your mantra not providing the best possible deal that you can't provide... I wissh you the biggest possible failure

1629 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Country coverage at 27 Dec 2010 07:49:45 AM
Every time I go to Shepparton from Melbourne there is about nearly 6-10km of highway (Goulburn Valley Highway) where there is no bloody signal at all from Vodafone. So if you were in an emergency situazion you would be totally at a loss.
27 Dec 2010 08:09:30 AM: Unless you simply dial 112, which then seeks out and connects you to ANY available network - regardless of which operator you normally subscribe to - thus allowing you to make an emergency call. This feature has been available since the inception of digital coverage. RTFM!
1628 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is failtastic at 27 Dec 2010 07:49:42 AM
Repeat intermittant connectivity via 3G. Unfortunately my work is with Vodafail and so everyone is suffering. Vodafail stated the issue was only in the Lower North Shore (lie) and simply recommended to switch off 3G for the foreseeable future - that was their ONLY suggestion. Voicemail very hit & miss, sometimes coming in a group every 48hrs or so. All in all absolutely shocking - there is no way I'd ever recommend or go with Vodafone / 3 ever again.
27 Dec 2010 07:59:59 AM: did you get a "up to 50 percent discount" to go to a lesser graded system? i bet you didnt

Calls go straight to voicemail
Phone says there is reception but says my phone is off
Try to make a phone call and sometimes need to try over 5 times to work
Receive voicemail notifications hours later
Try to call Vodafone and was on hold for over 30 minutes each time. Who has time to stay on hold that long? I waited once and call was answered 48 mins later to someone who was extremely difficult to understand... Problem still not resolved...

1625 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone + iPhone = FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 07:47:28 AM

1624 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is email at 27 Dec 2010 07:47:12 AM
I recently purchased wireless for my data from Vodafone store in North Rocks NSW, however, I am unable to send emails. I called Voda asking why it wasnt working and was told in no uncertain terms that Vodafone are an internet provider, not an email provider and as such did not deem this issue an urgency. He also went on to say that it would be several months for Voda to get around to looking at this problem. Therefore, I have no way of sending/replying to emails.

I did not sign up to not being able to make calls or be contacted, let alone useless 3G coverage, its as if do the poor performance from 3 has jumped across to Vodafone since they merged. I see another One.Tel story happening here.

1621 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100% at 27 Dec 2010 07:44:40 AM
I signed up on a 2 year contract with Vodaphone about a month ago. I was originally concerned that there was something wrong with my phone when I was continually getting 'No Service' or barely any reception all over Melbourne, including in the CBD, as well as the countless dropped calls. Rarely can my phone hold onto a 3G connection, and the times that I can actually use apps on my phone that require a decent connection are few and far between. Now i'm on holiday on the Gold Coast and it's no different. It's reassuring to know there are thousands more out there in the same boat, but I am also bitterly disappointed about this. Hoping Vodaphone gets its act together very soon!

was called to an elderly customers premises 2 weeks ago to set up a wireless broadband stick he had delivered from vodafone. It was a prepaid unit delivered by VF them self.
I arrived to set the device up, needed to activate it, hes only other connection was a dial up service and the VF activate site takes along time to load on a dial up service. Any way, got to the page, tried to activate it, Put in the sim number and the service number (which i had to find by sms'ing from the computer to my phone) and it came up with a cant activate, having problems, call customer service. Rang them, turns out, the sim card they sent with the modem can not be activated for mobile broadband use , its a voice sim. (yet sms from the service says 12mth 12gb) anyway, they said they would arrange a proper sim, Called back over a week later, the new sim arrived, tried again, wouldn't activate, Took the modem to the shop to try on another pc, no go, called vf. Wrong sim again.
Right, wasn't putting up with this anymore, drove to the closest VF store, "sorry we can't help you, there is a pin on the account, without that no good. (i had everything that came with the modem) Can you have (customer) come in, No he is old and this is a VF problem.
Got back to the shop told the customer VF wont help and it is the wrong sim card (twice). Bugger it, the VF unit can go back, I'll organise an optus pre-paid.
Went to Big-W bought a $49 optus modem, popped the card in it, went to optus.com.au/activate, typed in the sim number and a few other details. 5 minutes later, The modem was up and running.

My area is clearly within all the 3G and mobile internet coverage areas according to the Vodafone web site. However, at home (Baulham Hills), I only ever get Edge these days.
Very keen to get one of the pocket wifi devices but not if it only provides Edge speeds (which are horrible).

1617 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible at 27 Dec 2010 07:43:34 AM
I bought a new HTC Windows Phone 7 and I had problems with my phone from day one. After hours waiting on the customer help line, I went to the store and after hours of testing, I was given a new phone. With the new phone I had so many drop outs it was impractical to use it. I have poor reception in Lane Cove where I have to "share" my conversation with my neighbours walking around the house, but I had huge problems in the CBD as well. I have to admit, I gave up, I am using another old model (still getting the dropouts) and resigned. I left messages on Vodafone and HTC Facebook but I had no response (their help line is simply impossible - I waited a few times for more than half an hour without any response). I am very frustrated with Vodafone service.
1616 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 07:42:56 AM
I live in the CBD, which should be the best reception that you can get. But I've had constant dropouts, inability to place calls, poor data reception (41 floors in the air) and calls going STRAIGHT TO MESSAGEBANK!
So frustrating. Vodafone better fix these issues soon otherwise I can see their end in Australia as a telco.

1615 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:42:36 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over four years. It's generally been a good company to deal with and their deals have been good. However, in the last few weeks I have been getting on-and-off again reception in my house which is in the southern suburbs of Canberra, callers can't get through despite trying multiple times, the phone doesn't ring, missed calls are not recorded, if they do get through callers get flicked to voicemail, voicemail messages don't come through, SMS messages can take many hours to get through. Clearly, Vodafone is in deep trouble, but that's no excuse for going into denial mode. They have had to be dragged to the point of acknowledging the fact that it's their problem. Happily my contract is just about to finish, and I'm not going to stick around waiting for them to fix their problems. Their customer service staff are pleasant and generally competent, but the CEO and others at the top have acted disgracefully. I have not received the service I should have over the past few weeks and I do not intend to pay the next bill.

What happened is when my phone is out of coverage it does not log back onto the network. I have to turn off my phone and switch it back on again.
I've since churned to Optus and do not have any of the issues I had with Vodafone.
Don't understand why I put up with it for so long.

some idiot at Vodafone setup 2 accounts to the one number, which resulted with when i was paying the bill I was crediting one account while another account was going into debit. Vodafone suspended my service, so between that and the constant drop outs I complained to the TIO and broke my contract after 6 months. I was also able to buy my Iphone from them for $200. Highly recommend complaining to TIO, braking the contract then buy the phone for next to nothing.

1609 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Network Availability at 27 Dec 2010 07:38:25 AM
Coincidently I live and work next to the F3 freeway on the Central Coast, NSW, and the availability of service on the network is poor and when I do get it extremely poor. Calls frequently attempted to have them through and drop outs occur most often. Regret advising people for the new plans. Their network is not kept up to the expanded customer base they have sought through their marketing. Mobile data rarely on 3G, using the older network type most of the time. Ken.
1608 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:38:08 AM
I had a business plan (3 mobiles) with VF for several years, paying $250 - $500 per month when in Australia and up to $2,000 when I travelled due to extortionate global roaming fees. When not travelling I work from home.
When I moved to my current address (Dural) I could not get a signal inside the house. I had to move out to the corner of the backyard where I received patchy signals at best. I could not use the phone to make calls or for data, all I could do was go outside several times a day to retrieve messages, then call clients back from my landline.
A friend of mine commented "why are you paying so much for a service you cannot use", and I realised how right he was. I called VF and reported the problem. Nothing happened. I called back and said unless I heard from them in 24 hours I am cancelling my service. Because I spent $5k plus per annum I thought they would at least look into it. I heard nothing, so I changed to Telstra, and still pay extortionate prices but at least I can make and receive calls and use the data functions of the phone now.

27 Dec 2010 09:21:39 AM: You don't have to pay if you are not receiving the service you signed up for. Contact the Department of Fair Trading. Goods and services have to be fit for purpose. Stand your ground but be aware that unfortunately the customer service people on the phone and in the stores have no idea that you have a legal right to not pay if you are not receiving your service. Read all the fine print in your contract and document everything with dates, times etc.

Well done Adam, great job on the web site. You should be given an Order of Australia for your service to Australian Telecommunications Industry. Poor old CEO Nigel might get sent to Business Studies reform school for his performance.
The fact that Vodafone's spin doctors has spent so much time and effort on this web site trying to discredit customer comments reassures me that the class action well be sucessful. They are worried!

1604 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very fail at 27 Dec 2010 07:37:13 AM
Admittedly I'm only on prepaid - but I'm leaving, as I live in the city and my reception regularly drops out, phone calls seem to disconnect themselves and my messages often get sent twice, three times, four times to the same person (and I'm charged for it). Alternatively, sometimes only half my message is delivered to the receiver. Trying to recharge is a nightmare - the recharge website often doesn't work and you can only do it by phone in certain hours during the day. customer care - what customer care. As a prepaid customer I'm at the bottom of the rung with any phone company, but especially so with vodafone.
1603 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:36:52 AM
Ive been with Vodafone from the begining and up until 5 to 6 months ago they have been pretty good. Now I would consider them the worst phone service out there. We have 2 I Phones for our business. The drop out calls are too numerous to keep track of. We get messages come through in multipals that are days old. Clients complaining that they cant contact us. You contact Vodaphone and if you gt to speak to someone, you cant understand them. Also tried the email complaint no joy. The last response I had was left on my message bank because Idid not receive call advising that if they did not hear back from me they would consider the problem fixed. What a joke.

1601 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 07:35:06 AM
I ditched vodafone a couple years ago, I left after my contract ended but when I tried to pay my final bill I could not because when I continually phoned the payment line it would not recognise my number because it was no longer vodafone, plus when I tried to phone from an optus or telstra landline or mobile it would not connect so it was impossible to get to talk to a person. I tried for over a month then gave up. 6 months later I got issue a failure to pay notice from a debt collector which of course then screws up your credit rating. At least now I am away from them. Good luck to everyone with your law suit.

1599 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is It's almost funny at 27 Dec 2010 07:34:16 AM
On several occasions, spent more than 5 hrs on hold to customer service (I was trying to change plan) I should have realised such a thing was beyond the degenerates they employ. Most of them had trouble understanding my extremely complex request, and the one that did screwed up all of my account information. Rather than simply changing my plan on my current sim they sent me a new one with a different number. I almost cried. So I rang them to activate the new sim card, they said it would take 24 hrs tops. 25 hrs later neither sim card was working, I cried some more. I then decided to ring the tolled line, and surprise surprise no 5 hr wait, I almost got straight through. But they still couldn't help me because they had lost all of my billing information, and at present I am still waiting for my new plan to activate (they turned the old one off so I have nothing at all currently)
Their network performance is terrible, also. The internet on my phone seldom works, and yet they still charge me for every failed attempt to get to a website. Bastards.

I have been a Vodafone customer since 1995 and on the hwloe I am reasonably happy with the service and deals in my contract, but sadly the one place where their signal sucks is my home! And as I work from a home office, this is a real pain. One minute you have a great signal and you can talk away, next minute - without moving the phone - you have no network coverage!!
Move around the house and the signal might stay with you or it might drop out. VERY FRUSTRATING! sometimes you get a message from Voicemail time stamped for the same time you are listening to the call you supposedly missed, but the phone didn't ring for the actual call.
Yes please Mr Vodafone - lift your game!

I rarely have reception, and when I do receive a call it drops in and out, spent the last week and a half on and off hold with vodafone who don't have any call centres in Australia..... and then told my phone is fine because I can receive a phone call outside my house, I continued to complain and nothing was done until I mentioned I was a journalist student and they said they would cut my cancellation fee by 50 % and give me two months free phone use ( cause I can use my phone so much) but still pursuing my case as I want out of vodafone. Had two good years with vodafone now really disappointed and angry

Regular call drop outs, no service (I'm 7kms from CBD), delayed voicemail message alerts. I can no longer receive/send emails on my iphone (since October). Vodafone 'are investigating it'. My last call to them advised that they were still investigating it but couldn't give me an estimated time this problem would be fixed. I've still got 10 months on contract - grrrr!!!!
1593 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is There is no service in Potts Point at 27 Dec 2010 07:30:12 AM
There is simply no service in Potts Point. DO NOT JOIN Vodafone if you live in or around Potts Point - I have limited ability to use my phone to make calls, send texts or get voicemail. Even when i have my phone on and it shows full service my partner calls me from his phone (about 1 metre from mine) and the call goes straight to voicemail. Is this a sly way to earn revenue from voicemail retrieval? As soon as our contract expires we are gone.

For iPHONE users - when you have poor phone reception or data performance
try to go - SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > turn off ENABLE 3G. This allows you to use the slower 2.5G network. The "3G" sign will be replaced by an "E" on your phone - which most the time works for me. (Alexandria, NSW)

I live in a heavily populated suburb of Brisbane called bracken ridge. The network coverage in this area is deplorable. Vodafone have entered two service requests for a technician to call me back. This is after spending nearly 3 hours in total on the phone going through the same trouble shooting process, and guess what? No improvement!! Have I received a call back? Of course not. The reception issues at home are my main issue because I spend most of my time here. The reality is that reception is poor across a number of areas I visit. Now I've seen this site and the class action taking place I'm not going to sit by.

I have been a Voda customer since 1996. They used to be great, I used to be rewarded for being a loyal customer. Now, they suck and don't care about their customers, even old ones like me. The last few months is the first time in 15 years I've seriously thought about leaving.
* Other people have found me uncontactable. My other half rang me at home the other day and said "Why aren't you answering your mobile?" My mobile hadn't even rung. He said it went through to voicemail. I'm still waiting to get the message. (This now happens A LOT, which is making work and business colleagues very frustrated with me. Voicemails can take days to come through, if they come through at all.)
* How is it that I can live in Glebe, in plain view of the city skyline, and get no reception? Broadway Shopping Centre is also an inexplicable dead spot, and has been for the last three or four years.
* 3G is uselessly slow when you get it. If you get it. Wherever you are.
* My latest fun experience - I was on a work trip overseas and had switched on Global Roaming via the website before I left. When I landed in the UK, I had no reception and no Global Roaming. The person who was picking me up couldn't contact me, I couldn't contact him. It took him hours of walking around the airport to find me. When I got to a computer, I turned roaming on again. A couple of times. Again, nothing. I called customer service, was on hold for an hour and had to give up (any wonder I came home to a $900 phone bill!). I later called the faults line, who told me there had been an issue with switching on GR via the website (for three weeks??? WHERE WAS THE MESSAGE ON THE WEBSITE SAYING 'THIS DOESN'T WORK, PLEASE CALL US', VODA??) They said they could put in a request to turn on my roaming but it might take 3 days. I sent a bunch of emails to various people which resulted in it being switched on sooner. In the meantime, I'm in a foreign country, for work, and practically uncontactable.
One thing that was an eye opener on this trip - the reception and 3G speed I had in the UK and the US was exemplary. It is what Voda promises here, and it showed me just how much they don't deliver.
Thank you and f%$k you Vodafone, for leaving me with no alternative but to switch to those damn crooks at Telstra.

I've posted a couple of times but still so annoyed that vodafone cant get it's act together. On Christmas eve in Ballarat I had no service whatsoever for around 4hrs. No reception for phone calls or internet - boy I cant wait until May and I will go with a real provider. I'm looking forward to going with telstra to get proper coverage, rather than paying vodafone $70 per month for mobile and then more for the mobile broadband without getting any service at all. I wish I had have known about the issues before signing any contract.

I have corporate data and phone. Plan
I have complained to my account rep several times only to be told t will get fixed.
Calls constantly drop out when driving
Data unable to connect just as often
General poor service (signal) level
Last week I was driving from Olympic park to naremburn and I was not able to get any signal until I reached st leonards.
I have been with vocative since they first came to Australia, however their poor grade of service is affecting my business.
I have been doing some testing with TELSTRA and am finding the service generally superior in both reach and speed.

Vodafone has messed out their network over the last 2 months.
I live in Alexandria, NSW and have been with them for 12 months now on an iPhone contract. First 10 months, no issue. Networks performance became very poor. Reception disappeared in the middle of the call. Restart the phone and reset network settings not helping. My hospital and friends tried to call me to check out on me after an operation was fuming and worries course I was UN-CONTACTABLE for hours when my reception was DEAD. They thought I was dead while I was resting/sleeping at home not knowing the phone reception was gone for hours.. Totally unacceptable.

Have now been pseudo released (when they send me the documentation), but only 2 weeks into my contract I suddenly lost performance on my new service.
Various calls to 'help' and 'customer support' failed, and as my phone is used primarily to make calls, this started to cost me money as I could rarely get service.
The attitude of the customer support staff (with the exception of a couple of Australian based people) was deplorable. I could not believe that after explaining the steps I had taken to isolate the problem that they would then ask me is I had taken those steps again...
In the end a quick call to the TIO solved the dilemma...within hours I was released.
What a saga...

In Sydney's Alexandria and have been unable to make or receive calls since Christmas morning. Text messages intermittent and frequently taking 5-10 attempts to send out. Tells me I have messages in my voicemail to retrieve, only I can't call 121 to retrieve them! Have turned phone on and off, removed and replaced SIM, etc, all to no avail. I live in the inner south of ACT, and work in the parliamentary triangle. For months now, the usual garbage of dropped calls, not being able to make calls, texts that can take up to 2 days to arrive or be delivered. I also have vodafone for wireless broadband - I honestly can't remember the last time I managed to get 3G, and I have given up using it at home, it takes too long to load and continually disconnects itself.Talk about frustrating. The service is beyond substandard, it's virtually pointless because it's so unreliable. By the way, I don't have an iphone, so it's not that, I use a brand new Samsung.

Their "PREPAID" mobile broadband USB stick is the worst thing i have ever owned, paid out $120 to get 2GB of data, the 2GB acutally never eventuated, but the major problem is the terribly slow wireless network, my friends dial up was actually quicker, and at busy times, the network never worked at all - too many ppl on the system it just crashes! 27 Dec 2010 08:00:00 AM: Same. 2Gig stick usb modem. sitting in my office in the heart of the Sydney CBD I regularly get speeds slower than dialup (actually a lot slower than dialup- try 9600 baud if lucky). It took me over four hours to even activate the stick through the Voda website because the networks speed was so slow. (The activation process directs all traffic from the stick to the activation website until done). Thankfully I bought prepaid and am not locked into any contract. The fact is that I paid $120 for something that simply doesn't work. I wont ever use VF again.

27 Dec 2010 11:59:31 AM: have had a prepaid stick for over 5 months now. Reception was non-existent in my room, let alone in the lounge room. apparently it was the one area of launceston that didnt have very good coverage.. Now recently i have moved, and had issues the other day with my stick. 2 calls to vodafone (yes two because my crazy johns mobile dropped out), 50 minutes later i was told that i had to take it else where to check it out to see if it was just the area i was in, or i would be sent a new $2 sim card. It was the stick itself that was the issue.. i had reception only hours before. at the end of the day, the call center had stuffed up my computer with a stupid dial-up option always popping up and never disappearing, my computer forced itself off, and wanted to restore itself to a previous date and my Internet security had turned itself off. I had not changed any of the settings; so i do blame vodafone. Now just to add insult to injury, am moving to queensland and will need to find a new internet provider as i wont have reception where i am moving to. Massive Fail on the part of vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 12:07:13 PM: Yeah same problem. I had to use it for a month or two due for my business because the main line was down due to a disaster and being in ICT I can easily spot the problem. Cheap, crappy Chinese piece of trash. Drivers are written by morons, GUI software doesn't work properly (bandwidth counter doesn't work), it's not properly plug-n-play and barely supports Windows 7 let alone anything exotic.

Just moved from Rose Bay in Sydney where we had limited reception in our apartment, and when weather was poor we literally went into a black hole. Now in ACT where Internet coverage is still pretty basic. I've also experienced on numerous occasions that I get calls that go straight to voicemail even when phone is switched on with good reception without phone even ringing. Voicemails ALWAYS come late, embarrassing because friends and work think I am avoiding speaking with them. Partner is also on vodafone as is my mother but frequency have calls which drop out or sound like other person is underwater, freaking fed up!! Thank you for launching this site, the media and social networking is fantastic and it's comforting to know that others are actively seeking change and voicing their frustration, I thought I was just complaining about 'normal' network problems. Keep it up!!

I have to say I have been a Vodafone customer for years - and although they lacked coverage - they were economical - even when travelling in Europe for work - but for some time now -(at least a year - its been almost impossible to get a data connection in the city of sydney in the middle of the day. In the last few months I have also had SMS's never turn up !
Complaints insisted it was my equipments fault. I now feel vindicated !!

My phone is critical to my business. It constantly drops out, loses service, data is so painfully slow compared to Telstra. You ring Vodafail, they say go and get a new sim when they know their network is not fit for purpose. A friend who works for Nokia told me they look after Vodafail's network and it is basically a lack on investment. It is criminal they take people's money and do not provide a service. Mobile broadband coverage near Newcastle Airport/RAAF Williamtown is non-existent even though the network coverage map on the vodafone website clearly includes this area. Haven't touched them for a few years since they blacklisted me for refusing to pay their obscene account. I was overseas, very sure of the details of global roaming charges, only made and received phone calls within the promotional time and duration specified, and got home to find my calls that should have cost less than $100 according to their promotional blurb, actually cost over $1,000 because they forgot to mention that the overseas roaming mobile pays for all incoming calls regardless of the local promotion at home and despie the fact they offered the deal for when you're overseas. They never got the money and will never get my business again.

Lucky I only have a few months left on my contract, after that it's goodbye Vodafail. Hopefully some of the other carriers will start offering deals to get disgruntled Vodafail customers to switch early.
1550 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Even more impossible! at 27 Dec 2010 06:54:23 AM
Having now read through other people's pain, it reminded me I have big problems with text messages between Aus and NZ. Lots of texts to my mother in NZ have never arrived and I have not got a few from her or they have arrived days later. Spoke to VF about it and they blamed her network LOL
1549 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 06:54:16 AM
I actually thought I was going mad to be honest, the usual, call drop outs, took AGES to hang up on a call, NO SERVICE in CBD areas...Voicemail was delayed and so was SMS...Web was often slow and got the usual error messages. After spending 2 hours on the so called HELP Line I decided to go into the store and make them feel my pain as I waited on the phone line. I guess whilst on hold the guy at the counter we had to enter into polite conversation, so after about 30 minutes the guy admitted that since vodafail had purchased "3" they have had significant problems with service..I spent literally 2 hours being pushed from DEPT to DEPT each blaming the other, and in the end they told me it was my iPhone and needed to go to Apple. Over the last week I have heard about the numerous complaints and I have decided to lodge a complaint with the TIO as I can't be bothered to waste any more time with Vodafail on their Helpless Lines..Voda have until the 12th Jan to contact me and I am going to demand to get out of my contract, will keep you all posted
1548 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Annoying at 27 Dec 2010 06:53:13 AM
Litany of problems: (i) calls keep dropping out (I work on Collins St); (ii) battery life is terrible as phone stays on 'full power' mode; (iii) it 'falls off the network' at Melbourne airport (i.e. needs to be rebooted); (iv) has very slow data speeds (maybe 60% of time).
Just not good enough -- I've moved to Telstra for work since I can't afford to be out of reach.

1547 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is terrible at 27 Dec 2010 06:53:06 AM
Their "PREPAID" mobile broadband USB stick is the worst thing i have ever owned, paid out $120 to get 2GB of data, the 2GB acutally never eventuated, but the major problem is the terribly slow wireless network, my friends dial up was actually quicker, and at busy times, the network never worked at all - too many ppl on the system it just crashes! Signed up to another carrier via my landline, and the commy is 10 times faster, and hasnt had a problem since i signed 4 months ago. Anyway, their system let me down so much, and all the guy could tell me was to take it to another place to use it - WHAT THE? Why would i need to take it to another place, when the stick gave me 3/5 network bars? Are you telling me that is not enough reception? I have a desktop computer! Its the damn faulty stick or the network. He had no answer to fix it, so i fixed it and went somewhere else. Do yourself a favour, DONT GET THE WIRELESS USB STICK!!!!!!!!!!

1545 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 3G massive fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:51:39 AM
If I ever have 3G turned on on my iPhone, I get my sms's hours late or not at all. Every time someone tries to call me it says my phone is off - even if I am right next to them and my phone shows full reception!
As soon as I turn onto 2G my phone miraculously works most of the time - but I have virtually no internet access because 2G is sooooo slow. Grrrr.

1544 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is i dont know how they are allowed to continue to operate at 27 Dec 2010 06:50:04 AM
I am glad i am not with vodafail. they have been the worst network i have been with. i was originally with 3 and i must say they are a good network but the reason why i left 3 was because i could not get reception in parts of my house. i jumped on the voda website and saw that they covered all of Shailer Park, QLD. this proved to be not the case. After i saw this, i believe voda deceptively advertise that they operate in some areas where they do not service.
their indian team is horrible and the service is extremely poor; not to mention some people from their business team even though the one im talking about is from brisbane. After being with voda for 3 months, i was able to cancel my contract for free.

27 Dec 2010 08:47:49 AM: 3 is now owned by Vodafail and uses their network

1543 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Huge at 27 Dec 2010 06:49:38 AM
I'm experiencing continual and consistent call drop outs and delays in receiving voicemail and text mesages. In many instances, voicemail and text messages are only received 24 hours after they were despatched. Changing my service provider from Telstra to Vodafone was a huge mistake which I regret.
27 Dec 2010 08:40:40 AM: I think your lucky to be able to make a connection without as we have to do 20 south kms south of Bathurst climb a tree and as of late in the rain, vodafone sold us services and phones and a service they can not provide
27 Dec 2010 10:27:36 AM: Funny, I drive from Sydney to Orange and beyond regularly and never have any coverage issues.
1542 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Impossible at 27 Dec 2010 06:45:59 AM
I have been trying to resolve an issue for over 12 months and its as simple as registering my credit card for online top ups. I apparently can't register it as it's registered to another account (its not!) and when I try a different number I get told I have exceeded the number of cards registered and get a massive FAIL. I am told there is no way of resolving this issue (i.e. they can't fix their own software).
I have been dealing with them through their email system and the last response was to call their specialist Technical Support. Already spoken with them and they were as much use as tits on a bull. I'm taking it to the TIO as I am sick of the inconvenience.
Oh yes - I have bad coverage too. I know a number of Vodafone people in my suburb who have the same issue (compared to other telcos) and getting their mobile broadband was a laugh.

Phone totally dead from 11am Xmas day. Unable to call out. People unable to call me. No sms. No Data.
Had to use Skype to call family in Western Australia.
called tech support Boxing day.
Told to reset network settings. Nothing Happens.
Then in and out of flight mode. Everything now works - Well for a bit.
Then back to the black hole. no coverage, no phone, no sms, no data

1540 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Customer Service - Fail at 27 Dec 2010 06:39:35 AM
Wireless broadband cutomer in Brisbane. Initially 5GB for $40 seemed resonable against the alt options. The service was S-L-O-W to say the least, barely above dial up. Connecting was massive issue, but thanks to Whirlpool, learnt how to hook up using Windows internet connection instead of Voda software. Soon as Bigpond dropped 50GB to $50 bucks this year, migrated straight away (already had BB connection/Foxtel). Called Voda and on hold for 45 mins. THAT was enough time for me to lodge a complaint with Telephone Ombudsman...
Got a phone call back the next day from Voda rep (aussie). Why anyone waits for hours is beyond me! 45 mins is enough. I wouldn't treat my customers like that. I wouldn't have a business. End result, dropped back to a 1GB plan for $10/mth. The irony is that it works pretty good at my folks place on the Gold Coast...So I'm happy enough now.

1539 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Epic at 26 Dec 2010 05:41:49 PM
I rolled over my contract from 3 mobile to vodafone on the 23rd and opted for a brand new blackberry handset. After 24 hours my service dropped out, infact my number was completely disconnected. I followed it up in store the next day and it was resolved after waiting 45 minutes in store for remote techs to solve the problem. 24 hours later the exact same problem occured. This has left me without my mobile phone for 48 hours over christmas, while on holiday to visit family and friends. Whats worse is that technically my service is disconnected meaning no messages from friends or family will ever arrive to my phone if/when it's eventually resolved.
1538 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive Fail at 26 Dec 2010 05:02:15 PM
I am experiencing the same issues as everyone else here and all I have to say is that I am so dissapointed with the way this whole thing has been handled. The CEO posts a message on the site on the 21st of December asking people to email in their feedback (which i spent time doing) and only to receive a big fat nothing from them! Why ask for feedback when you are not going to respond! I chose the email option because I can not handle speaking to their people anymore who are by no means empathetic and last week were claiming all the issues had been fixed! I'm feeling a little trapped here as I am in contract until September 2011 and feel like there is no way out!
27 Dec 2010 07:43:04 AM: Speak to the TIO.
If they think you have a case they will assign a # to you and pass the details on to Vodafail.
At that point you will find that Vodafail start to take you very seriously.
Good luck.

1537 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is is fail at 26 Dec 2010 04:21:20 PM
Went to the boxing day sales today. The only two stores closed in the whole of this large shopping centre were Vodafone and 3. Methinks that they are trying to avoid a net loss of customers on this extremely busy shopping day. If there are any Vodafone employees here that can explain why, I'd be most interested.
Seems like they are not only locking customers out of customer service on 1555, but avoiding the need to provide assistance through their stores.
ACCC, surely this must be an issue???

26 Dec 2010 04:58:40 PM: I would be pretty sure they missed communications that mall was open? I know some stores were open (city) but most are shut today (i.e. suburban malls not open and street sites). All the mall stores will be open tomorrow. It's safe to say no conspiracy theory there...
26 Dec 2010 06:54:06 PM: The above post is correct, stores should have been open today. They'll be open all this week as well except New Years Day .
27 Dec 2010 06:59:57 AM: no excuse - read what was written - "The only two stores closed in the whole of this large shopping centre were Vodafone and 3". They didn't bother clearly, and clearly you didn't read it either. You work for them CLEARLY
1536 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Painful! at 26 Dec 2010 03:45:42 PM
Been with Vodafone for a year now... last couple of months were a drama with numerous call drop outs, failed internet connections and virtually no consistent service in the ACT. Obviously cant maintain my business on this level of service.
After numerous calls, Ive now been told that I can be released from my contract. Hooray! But there's a catch... they want me to send my iPhone back to them.
If I cancelled my contract and paid the 'cancellation fee', I get to keep the phone. But after 13 months, and despite being told the fee would be waived, they want it back.
Does anyone know if they can do this!!?? Many thanks in advance.

26 Dec 2010 04:15:41 PM: Don't pay it. Stand your ground and threaten to go back to the TIO to escalate. Do not compromise. Vodafone owes you! They have been charging you for a substandard service.
I did this and didn't have to pay a cent for my phone or cancellation.
I'd also recommend signing up for the class action.

1535 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodaphone & Virgin at 26 Dec 2010 02:16:35 PM
When my Contract ended with Vodaphone...call drop outs very, very annoying, dead areas. I switched to Virgin....welcome to my nightmare! Unable to use mobile from my home. Couldn't receive or send anything!!! Phone calls to the 'Help Desk' in Phillipines waiting, waiting, then explaining my story to numerous people, day after day....response phone is OK take it to the Store. 3 trips to Store..told couldn't help me ring Phillipines..Scream!! I kept asking Phillipines could I speak to someone in Australia...they would transfer me to another person in the Phillipines. I then rang the Tele. Ombudsman - was told Virgin is not adhering to the Contract. (Gave me a Ref No) Transferred me direct to Virgin....ah! an English speaking Australian..waited 2 weeks for an investigation. R'cd phone call from Virgin..we are sending you an envelope, please put your phone back in the box & book a Courier at our expense. Phone returned, Contract cancelled..I beat a hasty retreat to Telstra......no problems whatsover.....I'm in heaven....sheer bliss!!!
26 Dec 2010 03:46:24 PM: I moved to Telstra from Vodafone. like night and day. shame on you Vodafone.
