Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

I love vodafone. They have by far the best customer service of any of the telcos I have been with- and I have been with them all. You people are all first class losers. Oh no my iPhone is taking a while to load Perez Hilton! Get a life

My husband and I are both with Vodafail unfortunately. We are both away with our employment and can not keep in touch often. It is very frustrating and we are so disappointed we contracted with Vodaphone.

475 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failing badly in my experience at 17 Dec 2010 05:20:37 PM
I thought it was a problem with my iPhone but after reading the article in The Age I too am suffering from vodafone. Pages on the Internet won't load, reception drops out in the city all the time and voice messages are taking 24 hours in some cases to come through. Appalling service and not good enough. I am missing important messages from clients because of vodafone.
474 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is it's NOT the iPhone?? at 17 Dec 2010 05:19:38 PM
I've been bagging Apple for the O/S upgrade making my 3G iPhone laggy and unresponsive - I hadn't even considered it might be my carrier. My contract is up in 2 months, I was going to move away from Apple to HTC Android to fix the problem. Take note Apple - you're potentially losing biz because of this!
472 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst telco ever at 17 Dec 2010 05:12:22 PM
I was with '3 mobile' and when time to upgrade my handset, I was told '3' was merging with Vodaphone so therefore I had no choice but to change to them also. I was also told at the time that Vodaphone had better coverage, which now seems very doubtful as my phone often has poor or no signal in the middle of Sydneys CDB or in my home in the Southern suburbs of Sydney (which was never a problem with 3)
Since changing over, i have had nothing but problems. see following:
The handset took approx. 3 weeks to deliver (not 3 days as told).
Vodaphone canceled my '3' sim card without notification to me so i was left without my business phone for 2 days.
Trying to set up voicemail was a nightmare - it took more than 30 minutes as i kept being redirected back to the top menu with the recorded message not being saved.
my plan (supporting 2 gig of data) would not let me connect to the internet.
phone calls break up or contain static or do not connect. When speaking to customer (NO)service there is a contact distracting echo over the line.
Wait times for customer support are absolutely horrendous on the many times i have had to call. Often to the point that i just give up as i run out of time on my lunch break.
When i politely asked customer service if i could lodge an official complaint i was told that Vodaphone did not have any customer feedback lines.
my phone did not arrive with a user guide. (not sure if this is vodaphone or phone co) i had to search for one online.
I used Vodaphone 10 years ago and the service was horrendous then also. I remember them charging me for months after finalizing my account with them and it was a nightmare trying to sort it out. Them at one point threatning legal action. In the end i just paid for months i didn't use as i felt i wouldn't be able to afford the legal fees. Obviously things haven't improved since then.
Action needs to be taken

Well, there is really only one Telco in Australia. All the others are just playing at it. Drive metres out of the CBD of any capital in Australian and you will get nothing with all but the big T. Solution? Ditch the big V.
470 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is WORST TELCO EVER!!!! at 17 Dec 2010 05:10:45 PM
after talking to a CSR about network issues cause little to no coverage the second you step inside a building and how the EDGE network seems to actually work BETTER then the 3G network for data, he assured me that it was a problem being looked at and fixed. he also said he would have a technician look into the reception issues inside any buildings and he him contact me the following monday, it WAS 4 WEEKS before he got back to me!!!
vodafone isnt a dog asshole let alone a mobile telco!!!!!

469 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Class Action at 17 Dec 2010 05:06:18 PM
You WON'T be stung with a 'breaking the contract' fee because THEY have already broken the bloody contract. A contract works two ways. They have failed to hold up their end of the bargain, which is to provide a phone service. It hasn't just been one day, or a week, it's been MONTHS of no service, therefore THEY should be paying YOU, not the other way round.
468 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is shocking at 17 Dec 2010 05:06:02 PM
its like a conspiracy where the might be looking to get that extra flag fall every time you make a call because i will get a droput every 5 minutes or so for the last few months and have been counting down the months i have left to be able to switch provider
467 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 17 Dec 2010 05:01:47 PM
When I complained about having no internet I was told the only way to lodge a complaint was online! The same twit also told me I was welcome to cancel my mobile broadband but, upon asking, was told I wouldnt be reimbursed for the USB stick or the 6 months prepaid internet. Very pathetic customer service - cant wait til my mobile phone contract is up in May so I can go to a real provider.
466 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very unimpressed at 17 Dec 2010 04:49:48 PM
Yeah, I've had terrible network and phone problems over the past few months like everyone else.
But add this in. Vodafone texted me yesterday to announce a deal at 'my nearest store', which happens to be in another State.
At 10:45pm I received a new text from them saying 'Oops, we realised we sent you the wrong store' then proceeded to direct me to a store in yet a different State.
Get it together Vodafone. Nearly 11pm is too late to be texting customers and twice sending grossly inaccurate information is just incompetent.

The customer service is a joke - some third rate call centre out of mumbai where a person reads from a screen and has no idea what is going on.
The reception is some bad it is not funny. Dropped calls, no net, just ridiculous.
The lies of the customer service reps, the false tests and the utmost waste of time is just mind boggling.
They cannot possibly continue to offer service contracts when the network cant even handle it!
They should be suspended from taking on new customers until such time as the network issues are resolved satisfactorily!
If you are with them get out... If you are not run...

461 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is worse than 3? at 17 Dec 2010 04:43:08 PM
I'm with 3. Identical issues to everyone else here. For the past three months basically have not had a phone service: 'Network Lost' and 'Cellular data' messages popping up ever 5 seconds, text messages gone AWOL for hours, not able to connect to the Internet at all, and basically gave up even trying to make a call as it would drop out without fail even though I live 5km from the CBD.
Bit the bullet and moved to Telstra yesterday. Feels sooooooo good! I'd forgotten what it's like to actually have a working phone. Not once in all the hours I spent trying to resolve my issue with 3 customer service did anyone admit it might be a network issue. They had me restore my carrier settings, restore the factory settings (I lost all my photos and videos of my 2 month old baby - irreplaceable), new SIM card, had the Apple Store run checks on the phone... They wasted so much of my time (which I very little of with a new baby).
I talked and talked til I was blue in the face, and they finally agreed to let me off my contract on the proviso I return the handset that I've been paying off for 14 months. I'm going to do it just cos I want this over (but there is still a threat of charging me $500+ if the find a fault with the handset! I don't think so, Tim). Anyway...
Class Action, people!!!! Is all I can say.

460 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is crap at 17 Dec 2010 04:40:51 PM
Have been with VF for over 5 years, never had an issue until the 22nd of November - no reception on the phone, poor when outdoors, none when inside. Spent 4 HOURS on hold and FINALLY got thru, told that the issue was my SIM card. Went to a VF shop and had it changed, made it WORSE. Still having HUGE problems with my phone, to which I've been told it's the handset - how is that possible when I've tried my old handset and that has the same issues? I would LOVE to opt-out of my plan after having so many issues over the last 3 weeks, but I'll be stung with a massive contract pay-out fee :(
459 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Fail! at 17 Dec 2010 04:38:19 PM
I can't conduct business because people can't call me, and when they do calls drop out. Vice versa.
Also; 3G, I can't even say it's working because it just constantly sits at the loading screen. I've had this problem not only in ACT, but NSW and QLD.
As soon as they have performed their 5 day investigation *ugh* I'm switching to Telstra. They may have poor customer service, but at least they have coverage!

GET A LIFE! I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU HAVE ISSUES, BUT DO YOU HAVE TO USE SUCH FOUL LANGUAGE? FOR GOODNESS SAKES, IT IS ONLY A MOBILE PHONE!
28 Dec 2010 05:25:22 PM: I agree foul language is not neccessary, but if you pay for a service then you should get that service and for some people a mobile phone is their only life line at times. Plus how can you fix a problem with Vodafone if you CANNOT even contact them...
1 Jan 2011 07:25:21 AM: Foul language not needed but read 5338 and its understandable!!!
5 Jan 2011 09:42:59 AM: Craziest thing! You can contact them! They have an around the clock team working to support you! Yes the wait times can be long, but they have introduced the call back service where you can leave your contact number as opposed to sitting on the phone! The way I see it is, if you have an issue that needs resolving, practice patience and wait it out. Simple.

452 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst service provider ever at 17 Dec 2010 04:30:12 PM
What is going on with their service (lack of)???? For the last 3-4 months, I have been experiencing 'unable to connect' messages when I am literally standing on the street in Sydney CBD. If you can't get reception in the heart of Sydney, where else are you going to be able to use your phone???? My latest phone bill was $500 - when I enquired why it was so high, the service rep told me alot of it was due to voicemail. What do you expect when for the last few months, my phone doesn't connect when people try to call through and are automatically switched over to voicemail....??? Not only that, messages (both voice and text) can be delayed for hours. Calls drop-out so I am constantly calling people back. My husband who is also on Vodafone contract has been experiencing the exact same problems. What a joke!

450 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worse customer support EVER! at 17 Dec 2010 04:27:26 PM
I've been dealing with VodaFAIL's customer support for the past 2 months. All started when i was in Spain and i got a text message saying that my bill has reached $850 and i need to pay or call them asap or my account will be suspended. Tried calling them but got a closed of business hours. I received the same message at least 5 times a day. Then i get a call from someone (in the middle of the night) telling me i need to pay my bill knowing that i had Intl roaming on. Then when i got my phone stolen, i had to buy an international phone card to call customer care but was on hold for 1hr, until my card ran out of credits. Asked my sister in OZ to call on my behalf, but she was on hold for 1hr and gave up. Returned to OZ and tried calling customer care again, was on hold for 1hr15mins until it hung out. Emailed support centre to ask for somebody to call me but was told they can't do that coz it's against policy...yet they didn't have any issues with calling me in Spain and making me pay!!! After my complaint, they were willing to decrease the bill to $300. Then i asked if they can provide any special deals coz i still have 13months on the contract with no iphone. First agent told me she can offer to put me on a new contract but i have buy a new phone and pay the exit fee, which i asked her how is that special goodwill deal? Hung up and then called back and spoke to another agent who were able to do something for me (probably only agent who did something right). During this time i had to go to the VF store everyday to see if they have the iPhone 4 in stock; every store gave me same rude generic response 'no'. 2wks later they tell me they can put me on a waitlist if i call their customer care. so i did, after another 30min wait. Spoke to another failed customer service agent who did not even read his notes before assisting me and made assumptions that were completely wrong. i had to escalate to a manager who then was able to put me up the waitlist and waived the delivery fee which this agent told me he couldn't do. TOTAL CRAP! And yesterday i got a letter saying that a delivery was attempted but no answer so need to pick up at the postal office. Went to work late today just so i can pick up the phone...they only delivered the micro sim!!!! WTF!!!!
This is just the customer service side so don't get me started with the constant bad reception and slow internet speed and i live within 4kms of Sydney CBD!

Dropped calls, messages received hours after they were sent, voice mails appearing without ever having the phone ring, delayed voice mails. No 3G reception in major metropolitan areas such as the Sydney CBD.
The list just goes on and on... I've been relying on Vodafone as a business customer and it's become so ridiculous I've signed up for Telstra to get any decent connection service - yet I still have to pay these Vodafone clowns money for a service that doesn't work!

441 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad, really bad at 17 Dec 2010 04:11:42 PM
I've been with Vodafone for 3 months now on a new iPhone 4. I work in the middle of the Sydney CBD, and live in a suburb 7kms from the CBD. I get at least 5-10 dropped calls a day. The mobile internet works some of the time only. This all happens when I have FULL 3G coverage noted on my phone. Crazy.
I've been through 2 iPhones now as Vodafone insist it's Apple. The last time I went into the apple store they ran a diagnostic tool which told them how many call dropouts I have been having (date and time included). They changed it for the last time stating to me quite clearly that it is not the iPhone that is at fault; it is a network issue.
The icing on the cake is i have to wait for at least an hour on the phone on 1555 to speak to a real person. Just crazy, especially when you've been at work for 10 hours.
Years ago I was on the 3 network and left them becasue (a) it didn't work and (b) the customer service was non existant. Vodafone bought 3 over this year and inherited 300,000+ customers. This is obviously the problem as 3 did not have their own proprietary network; Vodafone's network now have to deal with these extra customers on the existing infrastructure.
Seems to me that 3 acuired Vodafone and not the vice versa!

I've been with them since I got my first 5110, had small issues along the way, but, my biggest problem - my current one, doesn't lie in reception/coverage issues, it lies in the fact that I called them to change to their $69 cap from the $49 cap, and then when I got my bill it had $1,034 on it.
ONE FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS! The stupid c's had re-contracted me. I have had that amount changed twice after numerous phonecalls, and now it's down to $68 or so... Fucking retards.
I'm on the phone to them again right now, waiting, so I can cancel my direct debit, as 1512 is still telling me I owe the fucks 1k.
Oh and to also check that my contract was restored back to before they recontracted me, cause they couldn't even do it when I was on the phone that time due to system errors.
What country do those backwards donkeys who answer their phones come from?
I need a gun.

i'm with 3 mobile, already switching to telstra (thanks for the free phone telstra!) 3 mobile is owned by hutchinson who bought out vodafone. the lady in india told me switching from the $49 cap to the $19 cap "would be suitable," less than 2 weels after the initial "normal" delay of switching caps happened and i get an sms saying that my bill (usually under $100) is now over $400 due to going over my cap plan. bill shock horror.
free mobile to mobile calls are available but all telcos won't tell you about the apps that are available that transfer the voice signals directly from phone to phone until it gets to the destination phone using technology similar to peer to peer networks.
i've noticed the public relations guys from vodafone have started posting messages on the news story mentioned about vodafone's terrible service pretending to be vodafone customers and saying that they've had great service and no drop outs (some even saying they have great coverage in the outback??)
they ought to to know their i.p. addresses are logged lol

I am a new customer, PAYING for 500MB per month (says so in the contract). Vodafone will only allocate 250MB to me. My suggested solution to this problem is: Vodafone should deliver its aggreed product. Customer service...I'm not sure I've had any yet (7 phone calls is my attempt to bridge the gap).
Upon examining call drop out, cost, flag fall and coverage, it is very likley (circumstance dependant) that the other networks offer a superier deal, despite less "call credit". Thanks Vodafail.

I live within 5 KM of the Melbourne CBD and I feel the pain! Constant drop outs (EVERY CALL!!), messages hours or days late, no reception in the middle of Melbourne. Absolutely NOT what I signed up for. I also receive LOADS of advertising texts from them. I even managed to speak to someone at vodafake about this, who had to ask his superior if it is possible to NOT receive the advertising. The reply was "ITS FREE!" What? They then told me it is not possible to NOT receive advertising texts. Oh my god, crap service and no choice with advertising? I am running as soon as my contract is up!

Vodafone has the audacity to throw millions of dollars on marketing and advertising at top tier sports events and yet provides a cheap and unreliable service. I can honestly say mobile reception is better in remote area's of Mozambique than it is in central Sydney with Vodapain.

420 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Fail at 17 Dec 2010 03:49:53 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer for over 5 years now. Last year I signed into a mobile broadband internet contract at $40 month. Their broadband service is hopeless! Can never get a signal and when I do it drops out within minutes. Since June of last year I have been paying for a service that doesn't work. I have phoned numerous times to report the issues only to be sent another modem, another SIM and a wireless dock all of which have failed. For four months now I have been calling to complain about the service and register the problem. I am always told that the "cancellation team" will phone back but they never do. After waiting on hold for over an hour last week I finally was able to speak to someone who informed me that the matter needed to be investigated and that I could not break my contract without paying a fee. A fee! I've been paying $40 per month for a service that doesn't work! After informing Vodafone that I would be taking my complain further they decided to reduce my mobile broadband from $40 month to $10 and was told that this was a very good offer! They fail to see that I am stil paying for a service that doesn't work. I will be taking this further as this is in no way good enough.
Another issue (not a major one but still an issue) I have informed Vodafone of my change of address six times over the past 12 months yet they still have the previous address listed.
Had it!

Somebody do something about these shonky operators. Getting people into contracts, yet not deliver on the service they promise while charging full fees and then not having any access to a call centre that is already in India and which has a different department for virtually every different question so that, if you're lucky enough to get through (which is rare) you will get transferred so many times that in the end you give up. Very smart, calculating business at the expense of the customer.
418 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is THE WORST! at 17 Dec 2010 03:46:46 PM
It is rare that I will have a phone call without it dropping out at least once. The record so far is 12 times throughout one conversation with a friend. In trying to reach customer service, I called 9 times only to be put on hold and then for the call to just drop out. I am the most easy going customer but this is out of control. Thank you for creating Vodafail and I hope the ACCC either does something about it or shuts them down. They are cutting corners to save a dollar at the expense of the customers. It's the worst service of all time... and that is saying something.

For about 6 weeks or more, I have not been able to attach to the internet using 3G from my Collins Street office. I called Vodafone a few weeks ago and was told there was nothing to do about it because of "access congestion" on the Vodafone network. More recently I've found calls dropping out and no improvement in accessing the internet. Yesterday I called and was told transmitters in Flinders Street were being upgraded and some of the problems were caused by the merger between Vodafone and "3". I was told that I should see an improvement to the network. In the mean time, no offer was made to compensate me for failed access, dropped calls etc. I've had enough and in the process of changing carriers. I'll take up the issue with the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

CALLS - Every time I go to make a call, the phone will hang for 30-60 seconds before it can connect through. Every second call I make will also drop out after 5-10 minutes.
DATA - my contract comes with 2GB of data - my smartphone will consistently tell me that I have connectivity issues. One minute I can get it connected to my work emaail, the next it drops off and constantly displays "error conencting" message, somtimes for hours on end.
VODAFONE CUSTOMER SERVICE - tried yesterday for 3 hours to get through to speak to someone, anyone except GODDAM LARA!!!!! After being on hold for anywhere between 15-45mins, my calls simply drop dead. This happened 4 times yesterday. HOW DO I SPEAK TO SOMEONE???

Catch a tram up Collins Street and watch the signal drop in and drop out constantly. Spent hours one night trying to work out what was happening and thought it was the phone. Vodafone said they did not have any issues, they lied to me. Was supposed to be in an area where they had signal range, nope not working at all even when I moved around the area. Another lie. Was sitting at work today no signal in StKilda Rd.

But the biggest and most ridiculous problem of all is how sitting in my lounge room (not moving) my phone will go from full reception and 3G status to low to searching to no reception in a period of 5 minutes?!? then I have to turn my phone off and try again! Seriously fix this problem!

Then had to spend half a day on hold to Customer Care (oh Lara your voice is like fingernails down a blackboard) to be told they couldn't supply the details of said downloads. 411 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is totaly crap!!! at 17 Dec 2010 03:40:23 PM
I have been a Vodacrap customer since about 2000 ... but recently they have gone to the dogs. Apart from having become accustomed to getting voice mail messages up to a week after they are sent, dropped calls (almost each call from the center of Sydney), and 'no service' many times a day I have had a MAJOR issue with the Vodacrap outgoing mail server.
The vodacrap outgoing mail server (ie I can receive but I can't send email) has not been working since JULY (6 months). They say it is intermittent... I disagree, it is constant. They have acknowledged it is a technical problem with their server, on many iphones, and not with settings on my handset. During the many calls made to the help desk I was typically told 'we are working on it' but they can't provide any information on when it would be resolved. Alternatively I have been told it would be resolved in a few days... which never eventuated.
When I emailed Vodafone complaints I got:
"Thank you for your email.
I regret the difficulties you have been experiencing with this issue and that you have not been kept up to date. The issue has been bigger than fist anticipated and this has led to the delays, please be assured it has Vodafone's full attention and it's being treated as a high priority.
Kind regards,
Sharon
Correspondence Team"
No kidding the issue is bigger than you thought... that was at about one month into your outgoing mail server not working!
In desperation I have contacted the TIO ... but effectively they have just referred the problem back to Vodacrap, which, you guessed it, they have not solved.
.... thanks for letting me vent my frustration!

I had their mobile internet USB device on contract and had repeated dropouts whilst living in Melbourne, then they screwed with the billing date causing me to exceed my data limit and end up with a referred debt. Only recently did I get this fixed but still had to pay the monthly service fee while I had the device even though it worked like crap, we then got their prepaid one and same issues again in both Melbourne and Albury. Since gone to Optus, costs more for the data but I get 1mb+ instead of the 50kb I was getting on Vodafone. I think they can see how many times I had to reconnect and should be able to guage that as a reason for full refund of ALL costs associated with the service. When I spoke to them 2 weeks ago they said they have no issue with the service.....

I thought it was a problem with my iPhone 3GS - phone would lose coverage, calls went straight to voicemail and could not make calls even when the phone showed reception. I was going to buy a new phone. I solved the "problem" by turning off 3G and running off the much slower 2G network. Then I saw the SMH article and realised it is Vodafone's 3G network and not my phone!

I have been with Voda since 2000, over 10 yes now. It is the mis-management of technology and how it can best serve the customers. Whole organizations works in silos or separate business units, very disconnected, especially after the merger with Hutchison or '3 Mobile'. Managers look after you depending upon which previous organization you worked for.. They gave tried to get the culture working but it's just hard work and people have their heads in the sand. I had to get outta there. No one really does any diligence checks about massive network or customer impacting changes, they happen on the fly and people working there have a typical cow-boy attitude of just 'winging it'...

I am a reasonably long time Vodafone customer (4-5 years). I have Vodafone Cover Me insurance with my monthly plan. I have two numbers and two phones and pay approximately $150 a month including my insurance premiums. I recently broke my phone and, much to my amazement, was informed that I would be receiving a refurbished handset. I couldn't believe what I was hearing... Absolutely incredible. Anyway, I immediately wrote to them and explained that I would never have elected to pay for insurance if it did not involve receiving a new phone in the event of an accident. Naturally, being Vodafone, I heard nothing for an entire month (not even if my claim had been approved.) I finally decided to give them a call and some horrible sounding woman told me that it had been decided that I would still receive a refurbished handset, regardless of my complaint. Thanks for telling me! Then goes on to say that she can approve it right now over the phone and have it sent out to me (so why couldn't this have been done several weeks ago, sorry?) Anyway, it arrived today with no micro-sim, even though I specifically mentioned that the micro-sim was damaged and could not be used. So I went to Vodafone and they actually tried to charge me for a new sim at the shop! I managed to convince her that that was BS and she ended up giving it to me for free. THEN I get back to activate it at I can't get through to Voda customer care to activate the SIM, I just get redirected by the automated service to a voice system about payment methods that I didn't even want, then a voice that says 'Sorry, we seem to be experiencing difficulties. Please try again later.' Good work Vodafone! F$%king dumb sh#$s.

3G model locked to Vodafone (PCMCIA card plugged into a router), all bought as a package from a Vodafone company store. Router (Linksys) branded Vodafone externally and internally. Get FULL 3G SIGNAL in William St, but 0 bandwidth - very common practice. Oh, Vodafone said "we won't support the Linksys router", despite having SOLD it to us.
402 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Fail at 17 Dec 2010 03:36:10 PM
Totally unacceptable service - depend (like many) on my mobile for work and it can drop out from full signal to no signal in one place without me moving a millimetre. So bad on a recent event I had to divert to landline (took nearly 2 hours for the mobile connection to stay up for me to do the diversion mind you) and be tied to my desk, miss calls - all on a time critical event.
Enough for me, I've dumped vodafail and gone to Telstra for my phone, ipad & mobile broadband. Now have service in areas I've never seen a signal before and so far no dropouts - relief!

401 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Cataclysmic at 17 Dec 2010 03:34:11 PM
I'm one of the lucky ones. I was with them for a year with an iPhone 3GS - mainly because Telstra was expensive and we're in an Optus black spot here. Always had call dropouts, but accepted it as part of the digital network - until, that is, we had a blackout at home and a sick child. Phones were out, and I couldn't get a signal fro Vodafone anywhere, despite being in their "3G coverage area".
Once child was sorted at hospital, I'd had enough. They told me "go out on the road to make a call - we only guarantee signal to the street - despite being on the top of a hill and facing the tower.
I packed up both phones, cancelled the plans and ported the numbers and told them to shove the service - they had breached their contract. They reluctantly agreed to termination fees, and allowed me to port that day (to Telstra), but took them 2 months to send me the post-paid satchels to return the phones. And the whole time they kept billing me - PLUS $1000 cancellation fee !!!
While their customer service may have improved in some areas (i.e. the Twitter guys were very good), their network SUCKS

I have the same issues as everyone else, constant "call failed" when reception has full bars.... 3G service is appalling and half the time I never have any reception in Rozelle!! Its 5 mins from the CBD WTF??
I called and complained in November - as one one day I had absolutely no service, nor did my 3 friends... I was offered a $10 discount off my bill. After escalating the complaint further, they eventually advised that I would get my monthly bill for November waived. It did not surprise me to receive the November bill, and sure enough, I was charged!!! When I rang to complain the consultant I spoke with claimed to have no idea about the ongoing service issues. Clearly vodafone has failed to even brief their customer service team of these issues, which only makes dealing with them more difficult (not to mention the issues faced with communicating to someone who does not speak English well.
I hope the ACCC rips them to shreds.

My professionalism has been compromised by Vodafone's failed 'service' - both the mobile with constant, constant dropouts, despite being in Brisbane and when trying to talk the company. The automated response service is guaranteed to drop you out too if you have the termerity (and time) to wait out the lengthy process so you can speak to an operator. I've never succeeded yet, even though I've spent hours working my way through the automated response system. And, should you think email may work, it can take 6 weeks to get a response and then all you'll get is what's on the website. I'm moving now my contract is up.

I'm on a special Blackberry contract with Vodafone. However, as of yesterday, my SIM doesn't work on my Blackberry phone at all. I thought it was just me (a reception or bill problem). But when my sister, who uses Blackberry and is on Vodafone too had the same problems, I knew something was wrong. So I took the SIM card out and put it into another non-Blackberry phone, LG, and it worked. Called 1555, but no one answered. Hung up after waiting 58 minutes and 29 seconds. I'm paying a Blackberry contract, but I'm using a LG phone now.

For months now I've been told by my partner and friends how bad my phone is and that it must have been dropped a million times to be so bad. (can I just say I've only dropped it once and that was from a desk, hardly a big fall).
I drop out of most calls after 5mins. I get little signal indoors (live and work in the CBD!!!) and my voicemail don't work properly. It also usually takes me at least two go's to make a call. God forbid I be in an emergency...
I brought up the issue with a Vodafone store once and was told it was my phone and to call the service centre, ha! Sorry I don't have 3 hours to sit on hold only to be told there is nothing wrong!

The voice message then suggested, if I didn't want to wait, to got and use their website...the one I was just directed off.
Love it!!
I logged the complaint online -- since I wnt it to be on their records...if they're working.

How daft of me to think I could be mobil with a mobile phone. I work in the Sydbney CBD and if I try to walk while on a call it drops out. At least I am not silly enough to expect to be able to download stuff on my 3G phone with a Vodafukt 4 gig data plan!
373 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is My Life is not worth living at 17 Dec 2010 03:09:14 PM
I've been a vodafone customer in Aus for the last 6 years & 5 years prior to that in NZ. I used to love vodafone.....until 3 months ago. For the last 3 months I have set my phone to 2G only removing myself from the 3G nightmare. I have gone through every test there is over countless hrs on the phone and in the store. New sim, new settings, it's your phone, etc etc everything OTHER than THEIR network.
To my anger when the SMH article showed up detailing the massive issues being faced by customers on the 3G network. As such I have complained, complained and complained. They offered me a 30 dollar rebate. Considering I haven't been able to use my 1gig data allowance for over 3 months on my $79.00 cap this is an insult.
I have just read on the SMH website that the issue has now been "fixed" and the 3G network should be back to normal....as such I have switched my phone back onto 3G and will test over the weekend. However, since writing this my phone has said "searching" with a no signal icon on my phone....I am not holding out hope...telstra here I come!

372 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is After 17 years that's it goodbye at 17 Dec 2010 03:08:04 PM
After 17 years with these guys when there service wasn't that bad,now I worry every time I make or receive calls as 70% of the time is call failed, just hangs or drops out in middle of call, it's not fixed by a long shot, switched my wires to telstra and hasn't had a problem, I hate resorts but what chide when Vodafail , optus use the same towers and technologies
371 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Uber Fail at 17 Dec 2010 03:08:01 PM
Service is rubbish (and I'm talking Sydney CBD), online portal wont download bills, or tell me when "my" contract expires. (It links to a sales page outside of the portal - so bad). I even got told once that their roaming service (I needed) was broken and they had no idea when it would be fixed. Sooo wishing I stayed on pre-pay.

368 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is joking if they ever want to retain customers at 17 Dec 2010 03:06:46 PM
Vodafone is driving me nuts. Do you think people are going to listen to what other people are saying about them. will the ACCC step in to escalate this to the point where people are compensated. There are huge margins in the telco space. Why are these not re-invested in the network.
367 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is As lost it's way at 17 Dec 2010 03:05:17 PM
I've been a Vodafone customer since 2004 and have been happy with their service up until the last year now. Vodafone has NOT done a thing about their networks coverage, in fact you can't even drive from Melbourne to Swan Hill/Mildura and use your phone and in areas where they have coverage (going on their coverage maps) you end up with crap coverage or no coverage. Their base station in my town is always going off line and we have had days of no service at all and their customer care people tell you there is no issues and it must be your phone. Bullsh@t it's my phone. If that's the case the 5 (old) mobile phones I have are faulty?? No it's your stupid network that's at faulty. I have only just a couple of months ago moved the other family members mobiles that were on with Vodafone to Optus. Optus might not be much better but at least their network where I am works and they are improving and installing more base stations. I was told for Vodafone managment after I sent them a letter about their poor network coverage that the number one reason people leave Vodafone was because of coverage in country areas and you know what they are doing about that? They are spending money on their network and putting up more base stations in the cities, WTF!!! You have coverage problems in the country so you put more base stations up in the cities? How does that help the coverage in the country?? It's pointless having great plans when you don't have coverage. Vodafone needs to wake up to themselves and spend money and fix their network. Vodafone are going to end up being a city only mobile phone carrier.
366 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 17 Dec 2010 03:04:59 PM
I'm on Sydneys northern beaches and have had two weeks without a single bar of reception. I spent two hours wading through the slop they call customer service and managed to browbeat them into paying half my phone bill at least. I recommend others do the same if you can get through to a human being within the 8 hours of a working day.
365 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is smart for taking me on a ride for so long at 17 Dec 2010 03:04:12 PM
I've been such a loyal customer for so damn long. My accountant says to me the last year - you must get some awesome perks for paying that much and for that long. What damn perks??!!! I've had drop outs, load errors, communication errors, EDGE. Call them this week to work out wtf is going and they tell me it's my sim card thats an issue and to go use another phone and another sim for a day to determine if that is the problem. Go f*ck yourself. I want out!!!
364 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is evil at 17 Dec 2010 03:04:08 PM
Near the end of 2009/beginning of 2010, Vodafone caused over 400 Victorians to become redundant by sending their jobs to Manila.
363 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 17 Dec 2010 03:03:58 PM
I recently bought a new phone as I thought it was the phone that was the problem. My phone would say I had full service but then days later texts and voice messages would appear. I also ditched my dongle which had a vondafone sim card.

361 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 17 Dec 2010 03:02:58 PM
business partner and i both with vodafone...dropouts are reaching a comical climax. Seriously cannot believe how bad the service is, calling customer service is a good cure for apathy as your anger levels will be 100% guaranteed unlike the service.
359 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is killing my business at 17 Dec 2010 03:02:14 PM
I cannot make phone calls to my customers without several drop-outs. This is ridiculous. I want answers and I want them now.
358 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 17 Dec 2010 03:01:18 PM
Overcharged, sick of calling the Helldesk and Lara putting me through to someone in the Phillipines who doesn't have a clue and then getting disconnected due to coverage issues and network dropouts and having to start all over again. I have several screenshots of full signal to NO SERVICE within the same minute. I live in an inner suburb and cannot sustain a conversation for more than 20 secs without having losses or full dropouts. As soon as I can I will leave and never return - VHA you are a MEGA-FAIL!!
357 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is CEO MUST BE SACKED! at 17 Dec 2010 03:00:53 PM
The public must vote with their feet and get out of Vodafone until the CEO/MD is sacked for signing up new customers when they couldn't provide a service; not informing existing customers of problems; and for providing absolutely positively hopeless service. Vodafone wins the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD FOR 2010. PERIOD. Have been with Voda for over 15 years. They don't deserve loyalty. Can't wait to leave. The Telecommunications Authority should step in without being a toothless tiger for us to be at the mercy of a giant corporation which is clearly involved in highway robbery!
356 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is it is ridiculous at 17 Dec 2010 03:00:15 PM
Vodafone's service on the Sunshine Coast is ridiculous. Very often nearly every day there is NO SERVICE or if I am near a place called Castaway Beach, Sunshine Beach or even Noosa Heads my phone calls drop out. I find it so frustrating as I am ofent on Business calls for my work.Get your ACT together Vodafone you are going to loose a lot of customers....
