26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I was assured by Vodafone that my number would be ported in 3 hours, midday last Thursday. Getting this set up took 2 hours on the phone.

Later that evening, I checked, and my number hadn't been ported. So, I waited a few days (mostly because I'm too busy to set aside time during the day to call customer support).

Today, I called again to ask what was happening. The port, they said, had failed, although they never contacted me to let me know why. It turns out that, despite being assured that my name would be used for the port so that it would match the one on file at Virgin, the primary account holder's name (a family member) was used instead. They didn't match, so the port failed.

According to several representatives and their supervisors at the call centres, Vodafone is *incapable* of rectifying this situation from their end. First they tried to insist that they couldn't due to the terms of the TIO (utter crap), and then admitted that they simply hadn't built the capability into their systems.

So, Vodafone can't handle the idea of one billing account shared by several customers.

Their proposed solution? Call Virgin and get them to change the details on my account over there. Because that makes sense, right?

-- a very frustrated new customer, who wishes he'd signed a contract with anyone else right now.

Been a Vodafone customer happily for years. Moved from Melbourne to Toowoomba, knowing that Vodafone website advertises full coverage in Toowoomba.

Coverage was very poor, had to go outside to talk etc. Even when I had coverage calls would go directly to voicemail. As an on-call doctor, this was clearly not good enough.

Went to the Vodafone store, which is in Toowoomba. They sold me a case for my handset, saying the coverage would then be better. It wasn't.

Rang to cancel my contract, they insisted I speak to technical support. After an infuriating twenty minutes, they said there was nothing more that they could do. Therefore, I signed up on a new plan with Telstra, and rang Vodafone to tell them. They stated that because I didn't contact them first (which I did, both at the store and by phone), my cancellation bill would be $1026. As a "gesture of goodwill" they have reduced this to $776. Pointing out that it is in fact Vodafone that have breached the contract by not providing the service that is advertised fell on deaf ears.

Will await reply from the ombudsman. If no luck there, how can I join the class action?

16365 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Comedy of Errors at 21 Mar 2011 12:23:18 PM
Just got off the phone after 45 minutes with tech support.
The Problem: phone wont make or receive calls for the past 24 hrs so it has stopped functioning as a phone.
The Phone: HTC HD Desire
After restarting, removing sim, replacing sim, dialing numbers, dialing special numbers, being put on hold to reset some settings. No luck still wont work.
Tech guy asks me to place sim in another handset, as luck would have it, I had a basic Nokia in the car, so basic it has a monochrome screen (Grandma's phone that the kids borrow).
Insert the sim in Grandma's phone and can place calls fine. Tech tells me to take phone to Vodafone store to be sent away for repair. So after 45 minutes i have to take my 2 month old phone for repair ?
After i get off the phone to tech guy i start thinking Grandma's Nokia is solely GSM.
Ok so after placing sim back in HTC, search through settings and select GSM only
Would you believe it makes & receive calls perfectly. At the same time my wife is having trouble with her blackberry on vodafone, although we kept suggesting that it was a network problem in the area to the tech. Selected GSM or 2G mode on the wife's blackberry and Wouldn't you know it she can now make & receive calls perfectly.
Wouldn't vodafone tech guys question the type of handset you are testing the sim in and be very aware of the 3G and 2G differences thus you need a similar phone for a level playing field ?
21 Mar 2011 11:46:33 PM: Vodafone tried to blame their network faults on my phone as well. It's not your brand new phone that works with any other network. It is their system. To get a result you need to complain to the telecommunications ombudsmen, then they will listen and sort out your issue.

16363 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is blatantly incompetent at 21 Mar 2011 08:09:24 AM
In the past 4 days alone, I have sent over 20 SMS messages FROM vodafone TO vodafone phones (my girlfriend) , 10 of them side by side (as in, with both phones in my hands to be sure my girl wasnt just ignoring me ;-) ) and the messages are NOT delayed, THEY DONT ARRIVE AT ALL, EVER! This is a blatant violation of my contract, as they charge me for the lost text messages every month, rest assured. This has been intermittent over 12 months so I know its not my fault / handset like Vodafone probably think...

Trying to void my contract now, as they have long done it to me.

...I cant believe I will change to Telstra.. god have mercy on my soul!

Desperately need to get in touch with my father over a business matter and yet again the vodafone (vodafail) network is down and my phone is set to 'Searching', despite being at home (carine) in my house on top of a hill which normally has full reception. Even at work in subiaco just 3km from the city centre, I am constantly experiencing difficulties with the network, I can NEVER use the internet through their alleged "3G" network because speeds are either not working at all OR so painfully slow that I could walk to an internet cafe and be done by the browser loads the homepage of my target site. Vodafail in every way and form of modern communications! Ridiculous!

I just transferred over from 3 Mobile Broadband to Vodafone Mobile Broadband thanks to their wonderful offer of $59 a month and 16 gig data download limit. Sure, that's a great offer being double the data limit I had with 3, but what the dogs testicles is the use when I'm only getting 2Mbs download speed and the damn thing keeps dropping out EVERY MINUTE. Mind you, the bars are coming up as full strength too.. Not only am I thinking about ending this deal before it's even started, I'm also thinking about mailing this modem back to them in a box right next to an enormous turd from my anus.

16358 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 20 Mar 2011 11:49:48 AM
I am not sure whether this relates to being on the Vodafone network, or whether I have an iPhone, or a combination of both. For the past 8 years I have been able to send messages to my sister in New Zealand. Immediately after changing to Vodafone I have only been able to send her a SMS once. I have confirmed with her that her phone and network are working perfectly. I also receive delayed message replies from friends, sometimes as late as 11 hours later. Vodafone has until the end of this week (tech support is investigating) to come up with a solution or I'm switching. Is Optus any good?

16357 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic fail at 20 Mar 2011 09:44:02 AM
I have been with Vodafail for about 10 years and I am coming towards the end of my contract now. In an attempt to see what Vodafail could provide me as a loyal customer I went shopping around for contracts yesterday in Sydney's Chatswood. I had an awesome customer service rep at the Chatswood Westfield store, but he did not have the phone I wanted but located it in the Chatswood Chase store. This is where the good service ends. I got married two years ago. After giving Vodafail my marriage certificate in person SEVERAL TIMES they could still not manage to change my details over. To the fuckwits working at the Chatswood Chase store who looked at me like I was wasting their time and who could not make a phone call to see what you could do for me despite my drivers licence number, medicare card number and address being exactly the same, a massive FARK YOU. To the cow who could not have been any less interested in helping me at the Chatswood Victoria Avenue store, FARK YOU also and rolling your eyes at me and my husband is not really helpful. Glad I found this site, my iPhone will be will Telstra once my contract with your shitful company comes to a close on the 31st of March.
20 Mar 2011 11:12:31 AM: A word of caution, you must cancel your service with Vodafone otherwise it just rolls on, the contract, in effect, never ceases until agreed by both parties.

Time for 1555 prior to 31/3/11, take a packed lunch and plenty of water.

Make sure you get the reference number of the call plus the caller id and confirmation that all direct debits are cancelled, then watch your bank account at the next billing cycle to ensure all is good.

Oh, I didn't know about this untill today!! I should know this site much earlier...I got an offer about mobile broadband from vodafone last December. According to the offer, i could switch from 3 mobile to vodafone for one month free. But i couldn't connect vodafone mobile broadband at all, though i can connect 3 mobile without any troubles...Then, i terminated my business with vodafone February 2011, but they still send me a bill!!! Why??? It is totally unbelievable...Furthermore, whenever I visit vodafone shop, i must wait for long long hours.... What should i do???

22 Mar 2011 04:55:42 PM: I submitted my complaint to TIO on Sunday. Today I visited vodafone to tell them that I submitted my complaint to TIO and I will withhold the payment. Then, the vodafone staff kindly checked my account and told me that I don't need to pay the bill. I guess my complaint is resolved, though I have not yet got contacted by a resolution department within vodafone... I hope vodafone will not send me a bill anymore. When I get contacted by a resolution department within vodafone, I will post here again. Please keep your fingers crossed...
31 Mar 2011 10:41:44 PM: Yay! Today I got a phone call from vodafone resolution department and could confirm that there is nothing i have to pay to vodafone! Just in case, I wanted to get a written confirmation. So, I asked the staff to email me about it,then I got it. I will keep it as a record. Also, I will get my money back! It will take about a week to get the refund money into my bank account. I need to be patient for some more days. I will keep you updated.
2 Apr 2011 04:05:39 PM: Hooray!!! Today, I found the refund money from vodafone in my bank account!!! I am so happy, because I can finally be free from vodafone!!! Yay! Thank you very much, vodafail and congratulations for the award!!! Yay, Yay, Yay!! Before I knew vodafail, I was completely at a loss what to do, all alone... I am a foreigner in Australia. 20 Mar 2011 03:59:42 PM: @ 20 Mar 2011 04:54:33 PM

What, in your opinion, is my true intent and why am I being juvenile and finally how do I contradict what I stand for?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
22 Mar 2011 10:35:28 AM: Well, very simply.

Your setting up of this website was to do 2 things, and I paraphrase of course.

1) highlight network problems that voda has run into
2) highlight poor customer service and no response
3) give others an opportunity to vent

All of this was fine and good actually. However, you said you were doing it with a mind to get voda to listen and the opportunity to improve.

Yet, your comments above in particular make the assumption that the future of voda is shocking and you congratulate others for leaving the company.

All of this implies you actuall would like to see VHA go down.

Quite contradictory to what you set out to do??
22 Mar 2011 02:30:54 PM: Thanks for the reply.

Wow....all of these assumptions (yours), implications (yours again) and following the assumptions, fabrication of adjectives (yours once more) I had never used in the reply to the OP.

I am no longer intrigued by your comments as the comments speak for themselves.

Have a great day.

I coughed up $199 for the Vodafone Prepaid Nokia E71 only to find that I cannot access Facebook for free. I thought social networking sites were SUPPOSE to be free? but no vodafones gotta make sure they get their cut of the pie. The only way to access FB is there the VFinternet which means is u have to have credit or thru my own wifi which is a fat lot of use if im 100 miles away from it. I have been thru the Ovi Nokia store for an app but that looks like its ready to shut down cause that was bone dry. I've only had this fone for 2 days and when I took it back to the store and explained I wasn't happy with it they fart arsed around with the settings which don't work and then refused to replace the fone for a similar model BECAUSE they don't have the 14 day "right of return, change ur mind policy" ACTUALLY l don't think they have any policies!...The only solutions are:
1.DO NOT buy the VODAFONE NOKIA E71 and/or
2. Unlock the handset and move Elsewhere...VODAFONE YOUR FRIKN USELESS

16346 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is incredibly unhelpful at 18 Mar 2011 09:10:41 PM
And it's now 10pm...do we know what that means? Goodbye all customers currently on hold! I've been on hold for over 2 hours now in my attempt to speak to billing due to a duplicate payment (their fault, not mine). TWO HOURS of my life that I'll never get back, and every time I get the automated 'Hang in there, we'll be with you really soon', it makes me even angrier. I plan on heading into a store tomorrow to unleash my wrath on a human being. And to inform any customers to get out while they still can. I intend on dropping the 'O' bomb many, many times. That's right, OMBUDSMAN. Beware Voda-f-ing-fone, I'm coming to waste your time the same way you waste mine! And I plan on ensuring that you never meet your sales targets ever again. My passive aggressiveness will be visiting your stores shortly, hang on to your hats and say goodbye to your bonuses.
19 Mar 2011 06:21:29 AM: do what I do...my contract id finished...in august last year...I have been here annoying them since....thanks to this site I am getting somewhere...I sent a 3 page letter to the CEO and got an immediate response after I outlined the seriousness of what has happened...and pointed out under their Communications Licence Conditions...It has now reached the point that their licence can be questioned....
21 Mar 2011 10:38:33 PM: Hey a bit of advice, please be nice to the Vodafone staff. Most are only uni students trying to get some cash, and they don't deserve to be treated like that. It's not their fault and they're more likely to fight for you if you're nice to them.
28 Mar 2011 03:54:16 PM: Hey a bit of advice for you dipshit - 21 Mar - it doesn't matter who they are, if the service is shit, they deserve whatever they get. 16345 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic random disconnection! at 18 Mar 2011 09:05:51 PM
My phone was randomly disconnected on a Friday lunchtime. I had to wait until after work to call after which I was told my phone had been disconnected 3mths earlier. This was an initial disconndection they had to do in order to resotre it after my 365 day credit had expired by a month. So after explaining I had the phone for 3 months and just recharged it the other day they realised it was a system fault and said I had to buy a new sim card! I had to registed this one and they said 'within 48 working hours' it would be reconnected to my old number. After which I could call and have the credit I had just recharged with 'compensated' back to me. "Compensated?" you mean, refunded! I asked them why I had to call again and couldn't they put the credit on it now? Of course, why couldn't they think of this themselves? After speaking with several people (Manoj Singh, Glenson & managers Wilson and Furqan Mir) I was told they couldn't budge on the 48 hr rule as the team who connects the numbers doesn't work weekends. Why did they disconnect me on a Friday then?! I have to wait effectively 4 days. And they are the ones that should have identified the fault and done what they needed to fix it. Epic Vodafail.
Did I mention this is the second problem I have had with reconnection??

I am Resident of Lugarno NSW 2210 and have been a vodafone customer for some years. Over the past 2 weeks, reception for my iPad and iPhone have dropped dramatically to the point where it is impossible to use the Internet regularly as the reception is either poor or non-existant. Is there any reason for this that anyone is aware of and if so, will it be fixed? If not, I will have no choice to switch to another carrier - not something I want to do but will be forced to do if not corrected.

16340 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 17 Mar 2011 10:01:54 AM
About to call vodafone again due to the usual ridiculous number of standard call drop-outs that I have. I have already submitted a request for what vodafone define as a "technical investigation" so that they may understand why my service is so bad. At the end of this process, it is hoped that I can break my contract due to the service I signed up for not being provided. I have tried everything from switching data off, changing to GSM, changing SIMs, changing phones (the current count is five phones across three different manufacturers) - all to no avail. My wife is also with vodafone and has the same challenges. What's worse, I can see multiple towers around us (Lane Cove). An average work call for me will drop out at least four times. My call logs reflect this. Data is also particularly sub-optimal. Bills are average too. Grrrr... A.S.

16339 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Data Fail Very very slow at 17 Mar 2011 09:53:32 AM
I got a gift; new iPhone 4 for Christmas and was initially happy with Vodaphone years ago. But found out that Vodafone and Three has one of the slowest data when it comes to the 'free' & unlimited facebook & Twitter. Same as most other complains; full signal but slow data updates/upload/downloads. Definitely something wrong with their interface to the net as they belatedly admitted. They should be upgrading/fixing these problems sooner than later; as in NOW otherwise customers in droves would just go away... I am.

16333 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone fail to do anything right.. at 16 Mar 2011 11:45:09 PM
I cancelled my contract a montb ago all fees waved except februarys bill. I recieve two texts and an email stating $1117.16 is to be paid on the first of April. I had agreed to send the handset back and pay the bill to wave all fee's...

Calling customer care the man on the phpne (on my fourth try of being hung ip on) tells me that their cal director sent me to the wrong place so I am placed on hold for another 30 mimutes. FINALLY, get through to someone and explain my situation.. Apparently they have to request to see if the handset I sent back actually reached vodafone! WHAT THE FUCK??? SHOULDN'T OF THIS BEEN DONE IMMEDIATELY ON ARRIVAL TO AVOID THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS FAR OUT VODAFONE YOU HAVE 5 DAYS TO CALL ME BACK LIKE PROMISED OR I AM RINGING THE TIO! I AM NOT PAYING $1117 TO YOUR SHITTY TELECO COMPANY WHEN YOU ROBBED ME $79 A MONTH FOR A YEAR!
17 Mar 2011 12:59:33 AM: Did they send an envelope to you to return the handset?

Do you still have the tracking label? if so check with Aus Post to ensure it arrived.

But agree, the TIO may be your only solution.

16330 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 23 monthjs 26 days and counting at 16 Mar 2011 09:28:45 PM
Have had nothing but problems with Vodafone since I signed with them. Thankfully I will be off contract on 21 March 2011. Thought it was worth asking for a refund or, if they want any money, a replacement handset.

I was told by a vodafone staff member "you're now off contract, you can resign and we'll give you a free upgrade." My response was no, clearly you're still obliged to look after me for the next 5 days or I will persue my complaint through the telecommunications Ombudsman and/or the Piper Alderman class action. They later conceded that I was still within my contract period, and that the blackberry had 2 years warranty and that I had insurance which should cover all this. They weren't interested in helping me.

I got onto customer care, ended up on hold for 20 minutes, only to be put on hold several more times by someone in a Bombay call centre. I started the call at 6:05 pm, requested to talk to the Cancellations Team and was advised that there was a very long waiting time but they should be able to call me back within the next 3 days... These people are worse than white goods sales people! You just be at home and wait for us to give you a call. "We won't commit to any time or place...".

I walked away in disgust at 7:30 pm, Sydney time. Their cancellation team is meant to be open between 8am and 8pm and no one was available to take my call.

Telecommunications Ombudsman here I come...

p.s. The blackberry storm is a piece of junk. This product should have been recalled knowing that it was not fit for purpose.

I got posted to Middlemount (2.5 hours inland from Rockhampton) for work and found out there was no service, I rang to find out my options and they said that unless I had a friend/family member I could pass on the contract to (as if!) I would be liable for termination of contract fee. Blah! Blah! Blah! The service guy agreed that it was unreasonable for me to pay these charges as I was going to an area where Vodafone could not provide a service but would not help me. Finally managed to get them to down the payment from $450 to $250 (which is still ridiculous!) To make it worse I got a bill today from them for my Mobile Broadband- which apparently is still active.. Did no one think if I wanted to cancel my contract because there was no service that I wouldnt be able to get internet out here either! SO NOT IMPRESSED!

Every time I call them they have a different excuse, I have been unable to speak to anyone in Australia. Well I am getting even, I managed to get them to release me from any contract when they ported me over, so I am going to connect with Telstra. Vodafone is terrible... I have been with vodafone ever since they first started in Australia, in fact I have never had any other provider.

I have noticed particularly in the last 6 months how crap Vodafone really is. The consistantly poor reception and very very frequent drop outs rates are insane. It's funny how no matter where you are e.g. outside, in the middle of the Brisbane CBD, still I am getting poor reception and drop outs.

SERIOUSLY VODAFONE SUCKS!!!

I am a lazy man, this only reason I have been vodafone so long is because I am to lazy to change, but I am definately going to now.

P.S. I HATE YOU VODAFONE.

Regards,
G.P.
21 Mar 2011 11:27:45 AM: Are you sure your phone is ok? I never have any reception problems in Brisbane CBD, ever - usually full bars.

Whether I actually get a data connection is another matter... I may well spend longer waiting for the bus timetable to load on Vodafone's piece of crap internet, than waiting for the actual bus.

Poor reception during calls - unable to maintain a fluent conversation. VF called me to renew my contract which has just expired and advised they are aware of the problems and are putting up another 25 towers. Not good enough to keep me as a customer sorry.
29 Mar 2011 10:55:34 AM: common problem. i could be standing next to the mobile tower at northpark shopping centre at prospect, and i would have my phone telling me there was no coverage, and it was "emergency calls only" vodafone would tell me it was my handset repeatedly, despite the fact i had the problem with samsung, SE, LG and Nokia handsets

Vodafone has been billing me incorrectly over the last 4 months for calls to another mobile. When i reviewed my bill i can say a consolidated amount of $1000 wrongly billed to my account as my plan states that vodafone call is free.

2 weeks ago after 40 minutes wait for customer support the person told me that he the database department in NSW is close right now so he will send my request and they will get back to me by 5 working days.

12 working days now and not a single phone call. i have to basically waste more time and calls for them to try to fix this situation. this is horrendous.

Forget delayed sms messages, my messages dont even come to me sometimes!

We were enjoying a week in Qld last week, my lovely cousin had lent me her car for ease, and had said she didn't have any issues driving me from Brisbane to the GC where we were flying back home from. Unfortunately I'm with Vodafone so nothing worked out how it shouldve. I NEVER got the message from my cousin saying I needed to be at hers by 10 for her to give me a lift to the GC airport. I never got this message. I know it was sent correctly because I could view on her Iphone it had been sent to me, and she is with an actual provider Telstra who actually provide the service they charge for.

It ended up costing us over $80 in travel fees to get to the airport, and 4 hours! This is one of a NUMBER of examples of vodafone failing to get calls and message to and from me. I have since called and requested I be able to cancel the service without fee because they are not providing the service I am paying for. After passing me around a few departments they promised someone from cancellations would call me the very next day. This has still not happened and it is over 48 hours since my conversation with them. I am sick and tired of them taking money without providing a proper service. I cant beleive I'm still stuck with them and they wont even bother calling me back. I have spread the word to everyone I know to not join vodafone and will continue to find avenues like this website until I am allowed to leave my contract without further charge.

Thanks.
15 Mar 2011 06:44:15 PM: Well I just sent a very damaging letter to the CEO of vodaphone and threatened legal action....I also included one thing they thing everyone has forgotten...when a number of complaints are present...over 16,000 on this site...which are legal complaints....it brings about the right for anyone to question whether or not Vodaphone should retain their Communications Licence....I exercised this right....in a word the licence can when suspended be picked up for $1.00.....so we will see what he does....

So Vodafone are now sending my details on to Debt collectors and sending me different bills to what they send them.

16309 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is as fail as you can get at 15 Mar 2011 02:02:27 PM
I originally signed up with vodafail in 2009 with a contract on a Blackberry Storm, I had huge coverage issues and was told by the Vodafail store that it was the phone. I paid it out (big bucks) and resigned for 24 months with a Galaxy S as I was told this would solve my problems. It made no difference. In frustration I called 'Mumbai' and after what seemed like hours of argument cancelled my contract and had them release my number. I run my business off my mobile and over the time I know I have lost some serious money over this. I now have received a bill for $1376 for an early termination fee. I have been given no consideration that I was forced into the cancellation action and after another frustrating day with 'Mumbai' told them I'd see them in court. I have no intention of paying this bill. This company is possibly the worst for communication and understanding that I have ever encountered. They are not getting another cent out of me.

16307 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 15 Mar 2011 01:44:51 PM
On a business account, and calls are dropping out, and client e-mails taking an age to download (sometimes up to 15mins). Rang Vodafail while out on lunch, in the MLC Center in Sydney, almost no reception in the center of our biggest city. Returned to work, and had three dropped calls while waiting, and in total spent 2 hours waiting to get to a lady who said they would not release me from my contract as my residential address is in an area that will be upgraded next month and that is my "nominated area of usage". I never nominated any area, and the whole idea of being mobile is exactly that, otherwise I'd be working with a land line all day.

My second issue was one where I had a broadband USB key plan. Zero reception in Crows Nest, Sydney. Got out of that contract and signed up for a new plan and an iPhone as a solution for mobile e-mail access. Vodafail said they would send a box for the USB key to be packed in to be returned. They never sent the box. A year later when I was with my phone provider checking sometyhing else, he looked at my account, adn they were still charging me for the USB key and full plan, even though he had notified them to cancel the plan 12 months earlier. They had this noted on the system, but wouldn't give me a refund as they said it was my fault for not checking my bills. I work for myself, so have a direct debit set up, all paper work goes to my accountant. After a lot of arguing, they agreed to refund 50%, through a credit on the account.

This company are a joke, and I cannot wait to be free of them.

Somehow (gee I wonder how after it's come out that Vodafone do not store sensitive client information to an adequate standard) the credit card which was linked to my Vodafail plan was accessed by a third party. This third party proceeded to unlock 3 vodafail handsets (why anyone would want to be on this network is beyond me), since alerting vodafail they have made no attempt to rectify this matter, regardless of the phone calls and investigations into the deduction which we have launched. Today I discovered that my phone has been bared, as I have not paid my previous bill. The reason this bill went unpaid was due to the fact that the credit card previously linked to the account was destroyed after the fraud by vodafail (or as we suspect a vodafail employee), further more I viewed payment of any bill as affirming a contract which under contract law I should have cause to repudiate. How on earth can they be allowed to operate in such a manner?!
15 Mar 2011 12:35:48 PM: This has to be the most shonky large size business in Australia and it being allowed to continue screwing innocent consumers around when it should be shut down. This company makes a mockery of the laws in this country.

Since I've been switched from "3" to Voda I have to walk about outside my house until the reception is sufficient to send an sms. I can't wander about outside all day just in case someone sends me an sms! New base station electronics won't improve reception, the coverage pattern will not change, Voda needs more towers and aerials. If they were serious about solving their immediate problems they'd change the "roamimg" threshold on their customers phones so that they stay "roaming" until a useable/reliable Voda signal is obtained. Analysing the "roaming" bill will identify areas that need more coverage. Building a new "850" network won't help existing customers whose 'phones can't use the 850 band.

I contacted Vodafone about a faulty handset.
I jumped through their hoops, and they decided that it was my iphone 3gs, and offered to replace it. I called about the replacement, and they refused, so I contacted the TIO.
Vodafone picked up the ball and followed through with a new Samsung Galaxy S.
Problem solved right? WRONG!
Fast forward 7 weeks, and I receive an email from someone within the customer satisfaction team. Releasing me from my contract, and giving me the new handset.
Great, right? Wrong. I have 2 phone numbers linked to my account. I don't WANT to cancel. I rang. They transferred me to another indian, who then released the second number. Then promptly hung up on me.
I rang back again. I don't want to leave. I'm happy. But can I change to the infinite plans on both numbers.
Yes. on a new 24 month contract.
I tell him I don't want phones, just to be transferred to the infinite.
No can do. He advised me he was sending me 2 new handsets (Nokia n97 mini's) and to just give them away if I didn't want them. I argued, he ignored me, processed 2 new contracts and hung up on me.
I'm shaking my head by this stage.
I ring back AGAIN, talk to someone else, who leaves a message for resolutions to call me.
2 days later, resolutions call. I explain everything. Even the person I spoke to is dumbfounded.
2 * phones arrive while on the phone to resolutions. I advise I will keep one for the secondary contract. BUT I don't want the Nokia, and will send it back, and choose another handset of my choosing on a different plan.
The resolutions person agrees.
I refuse delivery of one, set up the second, and move on.
Call today checking status of return. They check on aae.com.au and nothing else.
They can't find it. it says it was delivered to me. I'm screwed. Called Post office. No record of return. Just delivery. I signed for one.. not both??
At this point I'm fkn sick of Vodafones fuckups.
Highly incompetent. No communication between departments. And as much as resolutions attempted to help, I'm now stuck. I can't change plans. I can't get a handset I want, and one handset has completely disappeared off the face of the earth.

I have full bars and full G3 coverage. I go to log onto the internet (say FB or ninemsn.com.au )and I watch the bars decrease and then the internet stops and the phone tells me no coverage.

I have tried calling customer service from my phone (1555) and you wait on hold for about 5 minutes and you get hung up on. Call the customer service line and an american speaking person tells you to hold.....then it tells you they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes and it hangs up on you...
All this great "service" for $150 a month!!!!! A freaking joke!!! Where is Telstra when you need them??

I too have a problem with delayed SMS. It's ridiculous trying to hold a conversation when you have to wait for FOUR HOURS in between replies. I would think that vodafail has some sort of legal obligation to deliver messages within a reasonable time frame providing both handsets are online.

I did some research and have seen numerous attempts by vodafail to defend this problem. They say that message delay occurs when there is excessive load on the message centres. THIS IS BULLSHIT. 1. I'm sure there is not excessive load on the system at 0130 in the morning (I often message during my night shift) and 2. vodafail customers shouldn't be copping the burden of vodafails incompetent network management and underfunded SMSC infrastructure. Perhaps if they spent less money on that useless bloody 'Lara' voice recognition system, which, by the way never works, they might have a bit to spare on their network of God forbid living customer service reps.

AN EPIC VODAFAIL BY ANY STANDARD

I run a small business with 15 users all connected to Vodafone. We have been loyal customers since 1998 growing from one phone to now 15. My CFO has been instructed to get out of our contract as soon as possible. I am not normally one to complain however, spent 15 minutes last night trying to re-dial a phone number. I am on my phone constantly for an hour per day at least while travelling (and on hands free). I would have at least 10 dropouts per day which is ludicrous, yet alone frustrating. My friends on other networks do NOT have this problem.

I am changing and I have had enough.

In my opinion, Vodafone need to communicate to every customer or in my opinion they risk losing their business.

If I treated my customers the way they treat me, I would not have any left!

Trying to change plans and complain about the poor network coverage and I get bounced round 6 different people, including technical assistance! What the hell is going on? I'm on the $114 business plan and I had to buy another phone on another provider to keep my business going. Their response to the poor coverage is" we are installing another 300+ towers in the next financial year.) Great.. But that's not helping me now is it???

I just want to drop my plan, and get a non business plan-$45 plan and go from there... I've been on the phone with Vodafone for 47 mins now, and I've only just started to speak to an accounts person!

16280 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 2G & 3G Issue in my area at 14 Mar 2011 09:43:31 AM
Since July 2010 (last year), I have asked Vodafone numerous of times to look into my street as I'am constantly getting 2G & 3G drop-outs regardless number of bars on my phone.

They have created an incident ticket and always get no response.
Everytime I request for a feedback on the ticket, they keep blaming their system in not receiving my PIN/Customer deails etc.
To me, this is a way for them to buy time.

2G Drop Outs (my phone is permantly set to 2G)
If I try 3G is even worse.
Outside of my area, I'm quiet fine and stable on 2G.

I don't mind Vodafone but they need to listen and act promptly.

16279 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Incomprehensibly at 14 Mar 2011 09:17:41 AM
I'll be brief:
Almost all of the updated network sites are to be on the 850 bandwidth: http://blog.vodafone.com.au/blog/wp-content/uploads/Full-List-of-Site-Upgrades-and-Planned.pdf
Many phones sold by VF to customers, locking them into 24 month contracts don't do 3G/HSDPA on 850. (Incl: Brand new Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire HD, and HTC Trophy.)
Check the specs yourselves: http://www.gsmarena.com/
Ergo, they are not even fixing their network. This is profoundly rediculous. I have no idea who is sitting around boardroom tables at VF making these calls. Thank-you Vodafail for providing the forum.
15 Mar 2011 01:25:56 PM: as telstra use the 850 band will this interfere with there cust
16 Mar 2011 10:49:39 AM: Those are new towers going in, you seemed to have skipped over the upgrading of existing towers, but I guess that would suit your agenda better wouldn't it. The problem with the current network is congestion, what handset is causing this congestion? The iPhone, which runs 850mhz, so by freeing up the other towers to handle all the other handset it's going to be a benefit.
16 Mar 2011 11:14:06 PM: And who is it by their sales pitch that advertises iPhones to work on their network?

Reception goes to no bars and net connection drops out in so many areas... It's like you have to be in some special certain "sweet spots" just to get a decent connection, it's a joke... Bad areas include: Carlingford/Ryde, Yennora, some Fairfield areas and more. I don't think I can even use up my mobile internet quota, which costs quite a bit, at this rate.

16271 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is MASSIVE at 13 Mar 2011 03:35:47 PM
OMG. Where do I start. Five months of huge bills as a result of having to constantly call people back due to - No Network Service, and the not so wonderful iPhone 4.

Just spent 2hours to Vodafone Retention about:
1. Wrongly Direct Debiting my credit card $00's without authority
2. Poor or No network service - causing constant re-dialling
3. Poor Handset (iPhone) causing no network connection

Their solution ... started as a $200 credit ... went to $300, then $400, then $500 ... plus a replacement handset (only if we sign for another 24 months.

What we were asking for was a $675.72 credit over the five months (we're on a $99 plan), and a replacement handset that works for the remainder of the contract.

They refused ... so here we go ... off to the TIO, to the Class Action, and I'm thing of lodging a Minor Civil Dispute for breach of contract ... so I can claim some of my costs too.

16265 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is getting worse at 11 Mar 2011 02:44:30 PM
I am a first time complainant. It started months ago, with text messages being received 3 days after they were sent. Last weekend, I was in the country (Portland, near Bathurst) - no reception. Today, at 3:15pm was expecting a call for a job interview. No call received. Called them at 3:50pm - they had been calling my number (they had the right number) and my phone has not rung, there is record of missed calls nor any record of voicemail .. the caller said that she called 3 times, and the calls did not divert to voicemail. Rang customer service - INDIA - informed me that number was diverted to 'another number' which I do not know the number and have not diverted my calls. Now I'm worried that people are calling me - and my phone is not working/ringing! I have decided to not pay my latest Vodafone bill as I am not satisfied with the 'service'.

16264 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Like slamming my hand in a car door at 11 Mar 2011 02:40:14 PM
I've been a vodafone customer since 1997. I got my first mobile with them when I got my first job at Dominos. I've had services from other providers through various jobs - but I've been a pretty loyal customer.

A year ago, I got a pretty high bill. I called customer care, got through the infuriating process with Lara, negotiated a contract change and lower payment figure as incentive to change my contract and went away happy. I tried to leave a complaint on your website about Lara, but found that your complaints form would not accept complaints about Lara. Apparently so many of your customers were jack of that nonsense that you'd stuck your fingers in your ears and started singing LALALALA like it wasn't a problem.

A month later, I got a new invoice. My contract had changed, but the promised incentives hadn't been applied. I refused to pay your bill until you corrected the invoice to adhere to the new agreement. You left me waiting for a call back for four months. Then you disconnected my service, without calling me back. I called and yelled again, and after an hour on the phone you reconnected my service and left me waiting for a call back from a supervisor. Four months later, you disconnected my service again! I called back, yelled for an hour and eventually my service was reconnected but the issue still not resolved, was left pending a call back. At this point I was refusing to call you as long as my service worked - and hadn't paid a bill for 8 months. I was wondering how long you could possibly string this out for instead of just playing back the original call that you assured me was recorded by your systems....

Four months later, a full year since the original incorrect invoice - you disconnected my service again. I called you again as was our little tradition and after an hour of screaming, you tried to make me wait for a call back from a supervisor. After I screamed some more - you realized that the supervisor could just take the bloody call. And realizing that you had been a year without payment - you agreed to just suck it up, credit the amount I'd been disputing for a year and send me on the way if I paid the outstanding $12 month bill.

A year, to do EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR. More than 5 hours on the phone in total. Multiple periods of months at a time without a promised call back ever eventuating. For fuck sake.

How much have you really saved by moving your call center off shore? When compared to how much you've lost by infuriating your customers with staggeringly incompetent customer service.
15 Mar 2011 01:42:18 PM: i would suggest checking your credit history. You will need to contact the credit reporting agencies to obtain a copy of your credit reports.
maybe nothing but better safe than sorry.
