Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

3244 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is No coverage! at 27 Dec 2010 03:45:31 PM
I was a Vodafone customer for years, and then moved to Eaton had absolutely no signal what-so-ever with Vodafone. Full signal in Bunbury, but none 5 minutes down the road? What the hell? Vodafone also advised me that there was no plans to upgrade the services available in my area. Well shit, $89p/m contract for 2 years...with a service I'm paying for but can't use? I don't think so!

Hello Telstra!
Better phones, cheaper cap plans and a service that actually works!

We are running a business and need to walk out of the house to make calls!! If by some chance we receive a call, we freeze and don't move as we will be cut off.
We were told we would get coverage in our area an that's the only reason we signed up!

3241 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:45:19 PM
I live less than half an hour out of a major city but I seem to be in a black hole which is the same size and shape of my house. Everytime I need to make or answer a call I have to go over to the park across from my house because the range coverage is better there than anywhere in my house or yard. I'm just really tired of not being able to make or answer a call inside my house.

3240 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is iPhone at 27 Dec 2010 03:45:19 PM
I had lots of drop outs and reception problems but much better after latest iPhone upgrade. I wonder how much Vodafone is really to blame for all the problems. Can we get some kind of link with iPhone software versions? And don't get sucked into the latest class action by the Sydney lawyers. Class actions are a scam that make the lawyers rich. It is big business for lawyers in the US.

i got a nokia x6 on a plan through vodafone, not only was the phone crap but so was the network, most people couldnt ring me due to a message that said the phone you are calling has phone barring active, even though i had paid my bill in full this is what it said, after 6hrs trying to get through to someone, they were quite rude, they finally gave me a code to unlock it, but it only let 1 call through then locked again, then when i moved, i didnt bother changing my address cause when i ttried i was on hold this time for 4 hrs before my fone went flat so i gave up.. ever since i got the fone calls would constantly jrop out so i would have to ring the person like 10 time just to get out 5 words as a result my bill went through the roof, so i decided i wanted out of vodafone and the easiest thing to do rather than stay on hold all day was to just wait till they dissconnected me as a result my excellent credit rating down the drain.

27 Dec 2010 04:16:31 PM: I am with 3 for my internet connection. Since the change to vodafone my reception has become an issue. Constantly dropping out... It should be noted that I have never gone over my 3GB per month, yet all of a sudden I am booming over my usage, AND I am not doing anything different to what I was doing previously. I am going to leave them all together in the new year and go elsewhere for prepaid internet.....

3233 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is is money hungry at 27 Dec 2010 03:44:18 PM
My boyfriend and I signed to vodafone because they had the iphone4...so far awesome. However on a recent trip to Queensland we used my boyfriends phone for google maps. Little did we know that we had gone over the cap until vodafone decides to tell us once we had gone $450 over. Thanx vodafone from the prompt update. Needless to say we are wondering why they didn't send one earlier but hey $450 seems like the right amount before telling a customer. Not happy!!! Furthermore, I wouldn't like to be a Queensland customer either, we found that now where in queenlsand could you get reception more than one bar at best.
Be a previous 3 customer I hope the customer service at vodafone is alittle better. Im thinking that my choice to change is a bad one. Here's to hoping to getting out of a now $600 phone bill because of data usage!!!! Thanx alot vodafone!
27 Dec 2010 03:46:19 PM: oh and my bluetooth doesn't work either??? And it seems that some times people call me and the phone doesn't even ring through. It just goes straight to a busy message.

3232 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is abosolute liars, full of shit! at 27 Dec 2010 03:44:09 PM
we had vodafone approximately 2 years ago and ended up giving. we did it because it was cheap and only for short usage - you definately get what you pay for. we went with another carrier (after 2yrs of being so disgruntled) because vodafone promised covererage that they couldn't provide. we didn't use the phone a lot but in the country areas, pathetic coverage! it was only so my husband and i could keep in touch during his work hours but he'd call & drop out continually. even on holidays we checked their covereage areas and it was apparently covered - when were got on holidays (cresent head) there was NOTHING. absolutely useless moblie phone company who will lie through their teeth and tell you you're coverage is perfect - what a load of #$@!. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING VODAFONE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PROVIDE WHAT THEY PROMISE!!!!

I have been with Vodafone for almost 2 years and will never ever use them again once my contract expires. I am sick of having calls drop out and having to call a person continuously to finish conversations - in the end I just give up. I travel with work and have had days without any service at all whilst others have full coverage with other providers.

3227 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 8/10 at 27 Dec 2010 03:43:37 PM
New customer to vodafone, only been with them for a couple of weeks, no reception at home. This phone is a business phone, so not being able to make and receive calls is costing me money, and ruining my reputation.

The maps provided by vodafone clearly show my house is in the coverage area advertised by them, yet I need to walk have way down the street to use the phone.

How do I get out of this contract?
27 Dec 2010 04:19:54 PM: We had a similar issue. Took 6 weeks of negotiating with them, finally called the TIO, but we were able to get out of contract because their maps had been misleading.

Dropped out calls all the time, no reception in the middle of syd cbd and inner west, really everywhere! Then you get unacceptable customer service....surely vodaphone can come up with something better than what is to follow: I have been constantly told that they are upgrading and they are doing their best to resolve the situation (last 3 months)after many phone calls, many i'll be with you in just a moment, many on hold calls etc i have been through the trouble shooting process and now have been advised i have to replace my sim, it could be my handset, i have been on hold with managers for an unacceptable amount of time, what else do i need to do. Are you serious vodaphone? There is nothing wrong with my handset as my mate has exactly the same phone and is with Telstra having no problems. It is not my sim, but hey I have to go in to swap it at a store just to see. I am sick and tired of these problems. FED UP VODAFONE..GET REAL!

3225 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally unreliable at 27 Dec 2010 03:43:33 PM
My business is based at Lindfield in Sydney where I cannot get reception on Vodafone despite promises that coverage in Sydney was excellent. I regularly have drop-outs, line fails, messages don't come through for 3 or 4 days and then they drop off my screen, and Vodafone will not allow your ring tone to ring for more than 20 seconds or 3 rings (which is not long enough) so that you have to constantly call message bank and rack up phone charges. When I've called for service there is always at least a 30 minute wait and if they call you back and its someone from the wrong department, they make you go through a new phone call to customer service for another 30 minutes. I've had problems on business overseas as well. Can't wait until my Vodafone contract is over and I can get out of it.

Reception - if I move further under cover than a moderate palm tree, it'll drop out as fast as if I'd walked into a nuclear shelter. You can always spot the Vodafone users in the Adelaide central train station - they're the one's swearing at their phones, or staring miserably at unmoving screens.
We'll leave their magical disappearing/reappearing wifi modem for another rant...

3219 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Waste of Space at 27 Dec 2010 03:43:12 PM
During a recent driving holiday around Victoria and South Australia (where we stuck to major highways and roads), my iphone 3G had no phone coverage in areas the Vodafone coverage map indicated full "blue" coverage. My partner's iphone 3G Telstra phone however had perfect cover. When I complained to the pimply 17 year old at the local Vodafone shop I was told there must be something wrong with my phone. Well .... 3 iphones, 4 different SIM cards and 2 more road trips later and reception is still crap!! Maybe the problem's with Vodafone and not my phone. I am also unable to either receive or send emails from my phone despite having double checked all settings with a number of computer geek friends.

I thought I had imagined the service had gotten so much worse after the 3/Vodafone merge - I couldnt understand how merging 2 phone companies would make things worse rather than better. Same problems - call dropouts, terrible phone reception, delayed voicemails but ALSO roaming charges. Every month the Iphones are getting hit with internet roaming charges on top of the cap amounts - sick of it

3213 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SOOOO FRUSTRATING at 27 Dec 2010 03:41:41 PM
Calls will drop out from time to time, fair enough. But my calls are never stable no matter if I am in the office (Surry Hills - Sydney), or at home (Balmain). Both are located within 2kms (as the bird flys) to Sydney CBD and I find myself forever searching for a place with more than one bar of coverage.
The iPhone alerts you when your coverage drops out with pop-up screens, these are forever coming up on my phone while trying to text. SOOO FRUSTRATING!!!
The worst thing is that when I went into Vodafone, I was of the understanding that I was NOT on contract. So you can imagine my surprise when I called up to cancel, they put me on a contract!!! SOOO FRUSTRATING!!!!!
I was so glad to see the story on the news tonight about this class action - count me in!

3212 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is totally epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:41:36 PM
Unfortunately was with Vodafone for 22 months. Within the first 2 weeks I knew it was the wrong move to leave Telstra. Zero coverage anywhere 30kms out of Melbourne basically, and 2km out of a major town in the country. Attempted to contact Vodafone within the first month, they responded and were of absolutely no assistance whatsoever. Would be on the couch (at home in Melb), would have coverage then lose it for 5 mins. Get it back and be on the phone, and it would drop out again. Great scam for getting more connection fees to bump up the bills. Plus phone wouldn't even ring sometimes, just go straight to voicemail and then I get the message 2 hours later. Asked to get out of contract because it was not what I paid for and was told I would have to buy out of it. Bull$hit! Stuck it out until a couple of months ago and then switched back to Telstra when I'd had enough - especially when I spend almost 3 months in country NSW working with coverage for probably 10% of the time I was away. And I had to buy out of my last 2 months even. The CEO should have to deal with every problem, then he might understand how bad things are and then something might get done. Then again, perhaps he probably doesn't know how to fix it anyway - just delegates!

3211 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MASSIVE at 27 Dec 2010 03:41:29 PM
I will be celebrating on the 3rd of January 2010 when my contract with vodafone ends!!! I signed up to a 2 year contract with vodafone and the Blackberry storm and since then i had sent it away 3 times to be repaired... every time vodafone repaired the phone without fail, however i would continue to encounter the same problems, being; poor reception, call drop-outs very minimal 3G reception and horrible internet data service... not to mention problems with the Blackberry handset itself including random shutdowns, and problems with screen resolution. So after the third time that i sent my phone away i asked to be taken off my contract so i could go to another network as the problems were unacceptable and being a student the $80/month repayments were becoming a bit much when it was obvious i was not getting the service i was paying for... However Vodafone did not sympathize with me and did not allow me to exit my contract unless i gracefully paid a $600 exit fee, however being the kind people they are at vodafone (*insert* sarcasm) they would allow me to sign up for another 2 years on another contract with any phone but they iphone(which ofcourse was my phone of choice)..... This was very convenient for Vodafone as it meant they would have my money for another two years without providing me with adequate services!!!! So i said stuff you Vodafone, i am not paying $600 and i am not renewing my contract!!!! i have used my sisters old iphone for the duration of my contract and when it ends in a few days i will wave goodbye to voda and never look back!!!! i have never had so many problems with a service provider!!!

After exactly 6 minutes and forty seconds in to a phone call the call is disconnected, so to call back I cop the extra connection charge as well as the damn annoyance of having to call a person back three or four times to have a decent conversation. More often than not I will be in the centre of town and not have any reception.

3 Network (vodafone and 3 are merged) gave me half price mobile internet for their 500MB plan. They said I would pay $4 not $8. Next month I get my bill to find out they had charged me $8!!! Total Rubbish. I called them to ask them to fix the problem. Next month I get my bill and they still charge me $8! I called them again. Next month i get a result, and they gave me $4 credit. But they didn't give credit for the last couple of months. I call them to ask them to give me credit for the last months and next month and forever. I get my bill and they charge me $8 with no credit! How garbage is that!

I called them AGAIN! They said they would give me $12 credit. I got my bill, and YES they finally did. Now they say I have to call them every month to get my $4credit! What a waste of time!

I am now waiting for my next bill....so I can do my next call!

Had enough. Live on the central coast, in full coverage area , showing full service on my phone but can only make emergency calls at times. People have called me on my landline to say they have been trying to contact me on my mobile, I have then dialled my mobile from my home phone, with it sitting next to me (showing full service), only to have it go thru to voicemail. My sister left me a voicemail message at 3pm on 23/12 which I finally received the next day at 12.30pm. My daughter sent a text message at 6.15pm on 26/12 which I finally received at 8am today, 27/12. God knows how many other calls I just haven't received. PS rang vodafone to complain approx. 1hr ago, said over 30min wait, still waiting. Have been with vodafone for over 10years, never had a problem like this before, will be shopping around when my contract expires.

Ive had my post paid account for 2 months now, I wish I never signed up for a 12month contract. From day 1 Ive had limited reception to NO reception. My 3G internet was non existent inside or if I ever managed to get it at all it was painfully slow. Over the past 2 weeks though it has just been a nightmare. Constant NO Signals, searchingggggg searchingggggg for a carrier, no internet, MMS taking days to go through, voicemail showing up hours or days later, blah blah, just the same as everyone else.
The only good thing about Vodafone at the moment is my prepaid USB wireless modem for my laptop and that it lets me use it for FREE! without having to recharge because it has trouble with the APN and network settings.
I would be happy with a 2 month credit on my account being the time that Ive had problems from, I dont think thats asking for too much.

I am at the tail end of my Vodafone wireless broadband contract of 2 years. After this experience I will never use wireless again. It constantly drops out even though I am in an area with excellent reception and don't get me started on their pathetic transmission speeds. I recently made the mistake of going 2.6Gb over my 5Gb limit and was charged an extra $267 for the privilege! I no longer call the customer help centre (a ridiculous name if ever there was one) as I was always connected to bloody Vodafone Egypt who were invariably rude and stupid. For the past 18 months I have actually walked into the Perth city store if I ever need anything done that requires a vaguely competent homo sapiens with English as a first language. The pain ends on 2 February 2011. Fantastic!

I have a $80 month plan (includes insurance), and was promised in July 2009 when I took out the 24 month contract that my area - Bendigo (a regional center with over 110,000 residents) would be on the 3G network by the end of August 2009. Its now December 27th 2010 and STILL no 3G!!! WTF? I have NO reception at home and I live 4km from the CBD and can only use my 3G when I head to Melbourne! Vodafone sucks. I can't wait to be out of my contract in July and go to Telstra, at least if I have to pay for a premium service I would like to be able to ... I don't know ... actually use it!

I did find the following note on this website amusing:

"Nick also recommends that if disaster strikes and you need to make a call, switch to 2G temporarily ie, switch off 3G (of course switching away from Vodafone is best). You might even want to keep your phone on 2G in case people are trying to call, can you believe we have to do this?"

I would love to have the option of switching between 3G and 2G BUT because vodafone is 'special needs' in my area I'm lucky to even get half a bar of reception on my high tech wiz-bang iphone which can't be used to its full potential unless I use the Wifi at Uni ... omg why not use a itouch? Vodafone you suck!

well where do i start Firstly i am totally with you on the contacting them its impossible with wait times always at at least 30 mins its a whole day event for me if i try to get hold of them its liuke im waiting for the most important call of my life i have to wait by the phone for my call back the other day it took 4 hours !!!!.

It all started when they said i had coverage where i lived. I was constantly dropping out and was told on several occasions that 3 bars or less was unacceptable. Yet i am always on one or two. After many phonecalls im taking in the hundreds to thousands up till now i have got no where with them. They have recently sent me a wifi router yet this makes no difference. Thay are never willing to fix the problem. They then consolidated all my bills without my knowledge then i had a different biller code only problem it took 3 months of callking to figure out where my money was.

they have sent me into fits of anger i have almost broken my hand i got so angry i have been in tears, my partner knows when i have been talking to them because for the rest of the day im just in a bad mood as i feel i never have my priblem fixed.

About 8 months ago my bills started climbing now knowing that for over a year i had only ever gone over by a few dollers im now meaning 300 over i started making calls to get answers after being told i would recieve a call back over 100 times in the poast 8 months i have no faith in vodafone but i am unfortunatly locked into a contract that i canr get out of even though eveything they had stated to me is untrue. i have had so many different things told to me that when i speak to vodafone i already know most of what they will say. Im at wits end anything i can do to help i will.

And a word of WARNING check your bills i have had my modified on contant occasions infact i even added one up there was a 20dollor difference i also had that same bill go from 256 to 503 to 506 in two months so beware.

Vodafone are not worth it even some of there store persons will tell you they are crap but only after they sucker you in and tell you eveything is all good

We live in a suburb called montrose in victora, which is classed as outer metropolitan. from the bottom of our street to inside our house we have no coverage. Other telcos work in the area but the cost to change is not something we can afford. I have had several people who are with other provider's come to our house and say how good their coverage is.

I quit Vodafone on 30/08/61 because I was sick of constant bad reception, I was sick of dealing with "LARA' who fails to recognize my Hungarian accent and service drop outs in the middle of calls.
I stayed with Vodafone for a very long time because I am a loyal customer but what is enough if enough.

Thank you for setting up this website because this monster company needs to be dealt with.

3182 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Major fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:38:01 PM
I was unable to get ANY phone reception in my house last year, which is a coastal suburb on the fringe of the Darwin CBD. To make phonecalls I'd have to cross the road outside my place... and even then I'd get drop-outs. This meant I often missed important phone calls, would have to then pay for voice mail messages and then call people back. If I was busy in the house, I would have to skip making calls I'd normally make while going about my business. If it was late at night and I didn't want to go out onto the street, then I'd have to call people the next day.

I made several complaints to Vodafone. During two of these complaints, I was guaranteed a follow-up phone call but never received it.

Additionally, staff continually blamed the phone I was using, so I decided to upgrade. After entering into a new contract with Vodafone with the latest Blackberry Storm, there was still no improvement. I called again. Staff still tried to blame the new phone I'd acquired, said the reception for my area was listed as strong on a reference map they had, said they'd look into it but never got back to me.

This year, fed up with being the poor reception cousin to my friends signed with Telstra and Optus, I decided to jump ship.

Funnily enough, when I called Vodafone to find out how much I would have to pay out to break my contract, I was asked if I wanted to transfer to network/technical section to see if they could fix the reception problems I was having. I politely told the operator I had done this on a number of occasions and nothing changed, and I didn't want to waste my time anymore. Additionally, I travel to remote communities in a regular basis and Telstra was the best provider for these areas.

THEN ... to top it off, I've been unable to unlock the Blackberry Storm I'd taken out under contract with Vodafone, because it was specific to Vodafone - something I wasn't aware of. I'm yet to read the fine print on the contract to check if this was clearly outlined, but the sale staff did not make me aware that it was a phone that could only be used in the Vodafone network. If I'd known this, I would have never signed up with that particular phone with Vodafone in the first place.

So now I'm with Telstra, and my relatively new Blackberry Storms sits rotting in a box because its bound to the worst network provider in Australia.

Not happy.

3181 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Lost me as customer at 27 Dec 2010 03:37:56 PM
I have just realised my 2 year contract with Vodaphone finishes in 11 days. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Lack of coverage when away from home is the major problem as well as poor reception locally. I actually bought a second phone with Telstra PrePaid to use when I can't get Vodaphone coverage! What a ridiculous situation to be in! I only bought the second phone because I was locked in to a plan with Vodaphone.
I don't like any of the Telco's, I've had poor (no) service from the big two but will choose Telstra for the coverage. Telstra, if you are reading this, pull up your socks or I'll continue shopping around! This forum is good timing. I was online checking out other companies yesterday and today Vodafail is in the news.

well where do i start Firstly i am totally with you on the contacting them its impossible with wait times always at at least 30 mins its a whole day event for me if i try to get hold of them its liuke im waiting for the most important call of my life i have to wait by the phone for my call back the other day it took 4 hours !!!!.

3171 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is I have felt suicidal with my experiences with Vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 03:36:42 PM
I have many complaints as a 1/2 year contract holder to share with you all today, how lovely this company really is. Thought I was making the right move from Telstra (I have notes on my phone account of many complaints about network out ages happening all to often please help me and speak out)

I am 20 Male from Country W.A I was signed into a Contract with Vodafone without them checking I had a job in the first place (I don't work and my parents have to pay my Bill) so they gave me a contract I myself had no income to pay but that was fine. This was my first problem, I was pretty much TALKED INTO a contract when I went into buy a PREPAID Handset and the sales person from ARMADALE W.A talked me into it so I went with it not knowing how I was going to pay for it, they apparently ran a Credit Check and some how I was earning money when I never had a job for the past 4 years? I still have a another 11 sad months ahead on my $114.00 contract.

The next problem I had was constant Service Drop outs some times days without reception, I would ring up and get Notes applied to my account and sometimes was offered a credit for not being able to use my Unlimited Cap Plan of $114.00 a month I can't even pay yet they gave me the contract LOL?

The next problem I then had was, more constant network interference slow data speeds on GSM and on 3G. Recently I had 3x Days in December without network coverage here, I rung customer support and sat on the phone for 3 hours at the Minimum trying to get through to these people to complain and get a credit applied to my account for the inconsistence (What happens if my car broke down or I was bitten by a snake working on the farm) I had no phone to use and no service which is a service I pay for each month. The next thing I was told that a $50.00 credit would be applie to my January 6th 2011 Bill and even recieved a Text Message from 1555 Saying it was applied (THIS IS YET TO HAPPEN) I then waited a day and still no phone service and I got a call from a foreign lady I spoke with yesterday saying due to my 3x days network outage my bill of $117.19 would be wavered and paid this month due 6th January 2011. I still owe this money and no credits have been applied to my account. They pretty much lied to me in person and yet I still have poor service. I feel so low in the dumps with this service I sat here and cried last week and asked how much it was to cancel the contract I couldn't even afford to pay in the first place it was like $1,000+ to cancel it as I have 11 months left finishing on the 11th November 2011 which is painful for someone who has no job or full time work.

I also have another problem with Vodafone AU the list goes on, this time something that says "!@#$ Off" in my opinion... They Vodafone AU shut down my nearest Vodafone Retail Store which was in Armadale where I got my Plan Contract from, they just shut the doors so now instead of driving 230 Kilometers to go to a Store I now need to drive 265 to the nearest in Cannington Carousel shopping centre, to me this says "WE DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS" And it was the nearest store for all COUNTRY W.A Citizens to visit!

Another problem is, Vodafone recently joined partners with 3 Hutchinson Australia!? VODAFONE NEVER SENT OUT INFORMATION, OR ADVISED CONTRACT PERSON/S ME AND 4 OF MY FRIENDS of the joining partnership this was done behind customers backs and not mentioned until it was DONE!

My LAST Painful complaint is my Christmas Present for 2010. My mobile phone broke a week ago and my parents got me a Nokia C3 Graphite Handset ADVERTISED TO HAVE WORKING WI-FI Connection, after exchanging the handset 3x times before Xmas Eve I could NOT get a working handset and had to travel 100 Kilometers each day for 3x days to keep returning the handset! THE HANDSET IS FAULTY Nokia know about the WI-FI Problem and Nokia have released a 7.20 Firmware Update whilst Vodafone have only released up to 4.65 Firmware for the HANDSET Which means THE WIFI STILL DOES NOT WORK But Vodafone are selling these handsets at $99.00 with WIFI! I tried 3x handsets and after trying 3 and travelling 300+ Kilometers a 54 Kilometer trip each way I was offered NO REFUND By Woolworth but to have the handset sent away!

GOOGLE SEARCH Nokia C3 WiFi problems, THE HANDSETS ARE BEING SOLD FAULTY AND VODAFONE OFFER NO CURRENT 7.20 FIRMWARE UPDATE TO FIX THE PROBLEM! 100% FALSE ADVERTISING AND SCAM I AM SICK OF THIS SHIT AND SERIOUSLY THINK THERE MUST BE A WAY TO GET OUT OF CONTRACT WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE CRAP! I feel suicidal, I can't even pay for the contract but was given one at the drop of a hat without even checking I had full time work to start with!

SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SPECIALLY WITH THE SELLING OF FAULTY HANDSETS ADVERTISED TO HAVE WIFI CONNECTIVTY BUT NO SOFTWARE RELEASED TO RESOLVE PROBLEMS ON A LOCKED AND VODAFONE BRANDED HANDSET!

FURIOUS AND HAD ENOUGH SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE AND FAST!
27 Dec 2010 03:49:43 PM: Why did you enter in to a contract? YOU knew you couldn't afford it. I bought Pre-Paid mobile PRECISELY because I knew I couldn't afford a plan. I have complained about Vodaphone for it's services but they are not financial nannies!
29 Dec 2010 04:39:07 PM: first of all, you sound like a bloody idiot, secondly..in regards to the firmware you can download this directly from the nokia website..it is not vodafone that creates or provides the firmware,,also.why the hell did you sign a contract if you aint got no money...get a freakin job...and stop whinging..it is your fault for going into a contract that you cant afford..how is that remotely vodafones fault?!!!! the way i see it, ur just trying to create drama so you can get out of the contract for free..
30 Dec 2010 03:42:12 PM: Nokia OVI Suite says there is a 7.20 Firmware update you loser, and guess what it's up to providers to release the 7.20 Firmware based on the carrier and its Splash Screens and own Firmware/Bloatware they add into the handsets. Vodafone have released 3x Firmware updates up until 4.65 but no 7.20 which fixes the problem yet. You are obviously a TROLL and a Noob. There is no work out here in the country and LEARN: HOWTO - Use Nokia Ovi Store and how the updates actually work. You can't update a VODAFONE BRANDED Phone to generic Nokia C3 Firmware even if it's UNLOCKED because it has a ROM ID that is Vodafones that can not be updated until Vodafone release the software as a carrier for the handset you fucking noob.

Wake Up, Ok thanks X

I am lucky enough not to have suffered dropped out phone calls, however I have had very poor reception, very slow voicemail turn around times and a high ratio of text failures. It's a shame one of the other networks don't offer something like the Infinity plans...that's the one attractive thing about Vodafone....if anyone knows of any similar plans with other telcos please post!
27 Dec 2010 03:37:56 PM: I agree with there only being one attractive thing about vodafone. If it wasn't for the $29 prepaid caps, I probably wouldn't have a phone.

called customer service regarding poor servicer coverage.
after about 8 hours on hold over a couple of weeks they managed to transfer me from customer service then to the "value added" team then the upgrades dept then back to customer service because they didn't know what my call was about. to which the call centre supervisor said "i am going out of my way by helping you" then back to the upgrades dept and after complaining in writing to which i still have had no satisfactory result and Vodafone just stopped replying to my e-mails.to the customer retention team to which they said they would give me three months free off my contract, recieved a bill like nothing had happened.
here is a transcript of my email complaint to which has not been resolved.

13th november called customer care regarding my newly issued iPhone 4, after speaking with three members of customer care and the loyalty team i finally got put through to Shrapna who was argumentative for most of the 50 minute phone call.
she refused the fact that it was a new phone and stated that i would have to bare the cost of any repairs for a 7 day old phone.
i would appreciate a call regarding a solution to this matter.

3157 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No sns service & automatic call deversion at 27 Dec 2010 03:34:30 PM
First things first, I've been a Vodafone customer for around 11-12 years, until recently ( last 2 years or so) I found the call centre staff to be quite helpful, and had no issues with them whatsoever, they even used to give me a new phone every 12 months, 90% of the people I spoke with then seemed to be based in Australia, and there were also a lot more staff, or perhaps just less complaints, anyway, my point is that these issues have only started to arise recently for myself, I'm a Telecommunications rigger myself, we're the guys who install the new network arials and towers, THERE HAS NOT BEEN A MAJOR "ROLLOUT" FOR NEARLY 4 YEARS, with the amount of increased traffic and information that is now transmitted on the 3G network, I expect that even that technology is now stretched to it's limits, the only work that is being carried out on the national 3G network is repair and maintainance, even when we did the last major installation 3-4 years ago the telco company's had to hire workes from oversea's because there was not enough skilled people in Australia
Sorry, a little of the subject there
Christmas day the Vodafone network would not let me send and sought of txt for nearly 3 hours, around 11am it started to work again
Just foundout today that my freinds and employer have been trying to call me for the last 3 days but it has been going straight to my viocemail, I certainly did not divert it and have tried to cancel the deverts but it still is'nt working correctly

some months ago I lost total coverage reception in my residential area ( Campbelltown) I usually only got 3 bars of signal on Iphone anyway so wasn't that great day to day. I called customer service and got told they were upgrading amplifiers in my area, and when it came back online ( no ETA) it would be bigger and better than ever. 8 days later the signal came back, 1 bar of signal at best, and even that depended on which way the wind was blowing - literally!!!

3150 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 03:33:22 PM
I signed up to Vodafone mobile broadband internet about 2 months ago, as I was about to move about an hour out of Melbourne and they told me they had really good reception up there (yeah - right...). Since then I have had countless problems with dropouts, pathetically slow reception, and freezing screens, and with me trying to get a small business off the ground, this caused so many problems. I have contacted them a few times and not once did they mention there were problems. They told me I was probably in a "black spot" as reception up here was supposedly good. The signal strength never gets any better than "poor" and they told me I should buy a pocket wifi to improve the signal, but this costs an extra $100. Im glad I held off, and came across this news article and website, and now know its not just me! And I dont live in a "black spot". I have signed a 2 year contract, and was told the first 6 months would be 1/2 price, yet when I got my first bill recently, there was no mention of this. Another call to them, and they said it would apply from my next bill. Who knows if this will happen? I just want to get out of my contract and go to another provider who has good coverage up here (bit thin on the ground though....not many to choose from).

I live on the mid north coast of NSW. I have no coverage once I leave South Kempsey to go to Crescent Head. I also have no coverage in some shopping centres in Port Macquarie. The reason I have a Vodafone mobile is because compared to the other carriers the costs are not as high. I guess that means you get what you pay for.

WE travelled from Gold Coast to Sydney in September, and had coverage nowhere but in the major towns. Coverage was practically non-existent all the way down the coast. Having driven up and down the coast many times over the years, we have never had such bad coverage. We also have coverage only about 50% of the time in our home, on the Gold Coast. This seems to be getting worse and worse. I will never use Vodafone again, after our current contract expires. It is the worst I have ever encountered.

Vodafone is just as bad if not worse, calls dropping out all the time. The biggest mistake i've made. Now i'm stuck with this contract and crap service to say the least. SHAME ON YOU VODAFONE

Vodafone has no reception in my area. That's fine. Neither do most service providers. Problem with Vodafone is they claim they have reception in order to make a sale. Then, when there's no reception, they claim there is. Hour after hour on hold, speaking to Indian call centres, being passed from incompetent department to incompetent department. In the end, the TIO forced them to refund all my money plus extra. Even sending me the cheque took them a month because they kept sending it to the wrong address.

I'm on a unlimited plan. There was a Whole week where I could not get 3G coverage. I sat on the phone to vodaphone for 3hours and got so frustated with the fact that I was sitting there for that long, I hung up! I refuse to pay $100 a month for a phone I can hardly use. The list goes on- Delayed text messages, Internet dropping in and out, phone calls dropping out. I'm so sick of it! It's not good enough

3138 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor indeed at 27 Dec 2010 03:32:13 PM
I just went into a store to pick up a final bill after having my contract cancelled. When I asked the girl at the counter how they were handling all the scrutiny, she nervously answered "I don't really know of anything going on. All I know is that our CEO posted an apology for some intermittent service delays last week. I haven't had one customer come in with issues".

What a load of bollocks.

So I rang their sales phone number later today, just for fun. Guess what? One ring and I was through! And it was an Aussie on the end of the phone! I asked him to check my 3G coverage to which he replied "hold on, let me zoom in on your exact house and check......looks like youve got perfect coverage on our two 3G networks". CRAP CRAP CRAP
To his credit, when pushed, he did suggest testing my coverage with a $2 red sim.

My concern is that unwise customers will fall for this crap and sign up. Please help ACCC. What are you doing? These guys are out and out lying.

I had no internet or mobile phone access in my home since 24 December, when I contacted Vodafone and spent 1 hour on hold I was told it could take up to 6 days to resolve the issue and if they discovered there was no coverage in my area I could terminate my contract. I don't know why they call it Customer Care because it seems they don't care. I'm tired of the constant drop out's on the mobile Broadband which is slower than a snail...

3131 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is TV Antenna would provide better mobile reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:31:31 PM
I was a Vodafone customer for 4 years, always hated both the customer service and the mobile reception - but stayed with them for the cheap rates Vodafone to Vodafone which all my contacts were with. Had a spare Telstra PrePaid SIM which I used in case of emergencies or when travelling, purely for the Reception. Until I got a promotion within IBM and was raised to being OnCall Support. Literally the day of this promotion, IBM Management advised I needed to change my mobile carrier to Telstra, as IBM knew that any phone on Optus towers, including Vodafone, were hopeless for contact and therefore useless for my new role of OnCall Support. I needed to be available 24/7 via Mobile Call, Paging (SMS) and Email as a last resort. So I changed to 3 Mobile, on Telstra Towers, and was a very happy model customer for 2 years: always upgraded handsets, never late paying $250+ bills a month. In July 2010, my contract was running out - so I signed another 24month contract. Within 3 weeks of signing the 2year contract, I was suddenly without Mobile Reception honestly 95% of the time and NEVER had Mobile Internet. I rang the Customer Service and complained, they swapped out my handset and SIM card. Tested again, within 48 hours was having the same issues. Took the phone & SIM back again, but "left it too late" - the 30-day trial had expired. I was stuck with minimal reception and zero mobile internet, with nothing 3 could do. It was during this period of complaining to my friends and family, who told me the issue was Vodafone - that 3 Mobile had sold themselves over to Vodafone! After hearing this I was furious, as I'd just signed a 24-month contract with 3 and was never advised they were now Vodafone! Furthermore 3 knew I signed with them in the first place to avoid Vodafone, that I was purely with 3 for their Telstra coverage. Enraged, I went into a store and threatened to write a letter to the Communications Ombudsman. It was at this time they were suddenly able to swap my phone for a new upgrade, free of charge. I accepted an iPhone4, only to have identical issues: 2 bars out of 5 for Mobile Reception only when I was in the dead centre of town, no coverage otherwise and ZERO mobile internet access. I'd get Voicemails 5+hours late and SMS between 24 and 36hours late. Never received calls unless I was in town literally standing under a mobile tower. I was ringing endlessly complaining to 3, nobody would listen. Went into the Store, nothing they could do and I had to call Support. Still nobody would listen when I said I've already called Support. Then the inevitable happened: due to my lack of network coverage, both mobile and Internet, I missed an IBM Critical Server Alert (Severity-1) as I was uncontactable - nobody could reach me via phone call, SMS or emails. By the time my phone got reception and every alert came though, it was 6hours late: I'd missed the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and IBM were fined $16,000. Needless to say, Management got involved with 3 and my job was put on the line. After numerous angry emails, letters and phone calls from myself and four Management Leads at IBM, 3 began to listen. They've now allowed me to cancel the 24month contract, free of charge, as long as I send the iPhone4 back. Morale of the story: don't stop fighting and don't stop complaining. Don't quit, don't give up - FORCE them to hear you! Eventually someone will listen and THEY CAN ALWAYS MEET YOUR DEMANDS, they're just more interested in stealing your money (and your job) off you first.
27 Dec 2010 03:35:06 PM: Awesome story, well done. Sorry about your SLA's.
28 Dec 2010 11:16:52 AM: Me and my partner are with 3 (vodafone) and our coverage is the worst i have ever experienced. We will stand in one spot and the coverage will drop in and out constantly, we were told we would get coverage at our house but it is very poor. We have tried calling customer service and explaining our situation but they put us on hold and inevitably the phone drops out because of the poor coverage. We cant make phone calls and have a conversation with anyone because the phone drops out and we find that really fustrating when you are running a business. We will be changing provider when our contract ends.

I live 7km from the city centre in Belconnen and rarely get more than one bar of reception on my iphone. I rely on my phone for my wireless broadband and it often takes quite a while to get any connectivity. It is also incredibly slow. I have called Vodafone customer service many times and been told my only option is to pay out my plan (ie $70 x each month left) in order to leave the contract. I just don't have that kind of money! I am paying full price for a service which rarely works. You couldn't get away with this in other industries outside telecommunications.

i work for vodafone. i have also seen the coverage plans proposed in the coming months, the network coverage nearly triples, then we'll see whose a fail. so what if you drop one call. have a cry. If you have an iphone 4, that is your own stupid fault, sheep!
27 Dec 2010 03:36:29 PM: Congrats for standing up for your employer, it's nice to see some dedication - but don't dare blame the iPhone4 for lack of network coverage!!!
Unless you mean to tell me that every single outcry posted on this website is an iPhone4 user, you're a fool for trying to blame one on the manufacturer rather than the service.
27 Dec 2010 03:37:20 PM: Wow, is this posting from middle or upper management.
I do hope your team sees this.
27 Dec 2010 03:40:57 PM: hold an iphone 4 next to a desire HD. Look at the difference. should be around 2 bars. So yes i will dare to blame iphone 4. PS. hold an iphone 4 how its meant to be held
27 Dec 2010 03:42:15 PM: so they're fleccing their employees with proposed coverage maps too are they? So when you say 'triple', do you mean that they'll be covering more regional areas? Because their coverage maps currently indicate that the majority of metropoliatn areas are currently covered. So what's the real truth Einstein?
27 Dec 2010 03:46:06 PM: Netwrok coverage better tripple you god damn bitch !!
27 Dec 2010 03:47:53 PM: BAHAHHAHAHAHA "Coming plans in a few months and the network coverage will <insert number here> multiply" - hunny I've been with Vodafone since April 2004 and I can prove in your companys brochures that you've been saying this FOR YEARS and where the hell is the service to date?!!?!??!?? See the Piper Alderman law suit currently against Vodafone? That's how well your companys promises pan out.
27 Dec 2010 03:53:10 PM: people people people. turn 3g off on your phone and see what happens. the only problem lies with 3g. see how many people shut their mouths now. retards make assumptions and don't know the facts. fuck its funny
27 Dec 2010 03:54:19 PM: That is funny .... I'm not sure if you are for real or not??? Either you are trying to stir suffering people or really work for Vodafail ..... After dealing with Vodafail for seven months (finally got out of a contract two weeks ago) I could believe you work for them!
27 Dec 2010 04:01:17 PM: Fuck some people write some bullshit! Who give two flying fucks about an i-Phone-4 or 3G ? At the end of the day, THOUSANDS of people are paying for a Vodafone network service that they're NOT receiving. Hence why Vodafone is being sued. Time to face the facts you retards, no wonder why you work for Vodafail! Here's a handy hint from the wise: start looking for new jobs before the company burn to ash in Australia!
28 Dec 2010 08:21:46 AM: Your a f*$cking gimp if you actually believe Iphone 4's are responsible for this level of retaliation against you employer. I've had Samsung, Nokia(6) and Motorola(2) phones with Vodafail living in 4 different metro locations, but never an Iphone4. Funnily enough I've never had good reception either. Loser, get a real job.
28 Dec 2010 11:11:37 AM: Completely agree - we're paying for network service we're not receiving!!! We shouldn't have to buy a specific phone, nor adjust our phone settings, just to get some reception!

We are a small company in Canberra and we were contacted and convinced 2 years ago by a Vodafone salesperson to move all of our mobiles over to a more cost effective group account. We initially told the salesperson that coverage is not suitable for us because we need support for people travelling interstate and into regional areas. However, the salesperson convinced us that within 3 months that the Vodafone network was undergoing a major upgrade and that coverage would be even better than their competitors. We have finally moved back to Telstra - we fell for the oldest trick in the book. Before the move back we even struggled with suitable coverage with Vodafone even in our office located in central Canberra.

3113 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Beyond Recovery at 27 Dec 2010 03:29:17 PM
Signed up a Vodafone $79/month 1year contract 1st week of November. From day one, I only get 1 bar of signal on my phone (Desire HD) in Prahran. The same phone had full network coverage with Three in the same spot. Moving over to the balcony or even stand near the window (as advised by their call centre techs) didn't change anything.

I kept complaining to their customer care from the first day about calls getting dropped, 3G connection timed out or not able to connect, delay in sending MMS even to a local Three number.

First couple of calls, they kept telling me about some technical work going on around my area and I should give it some time. They promised a call back in a week, but not really sure whats the actual definition of a 'week' in Vodafone terms...'coz it's been almost two months and I haven't received any call backs.

Gave them a month to fix their supposed network issues, and called their tech team again, only to be asked to switch over to normal GSM instead of 3G. When asked why should I be using GSM when am paying for a 3G plan, and that I would like to escalate the matter to their team leader, I was promptly disconnected from the call...and never (as usual) got a call back from the team.

Its frustrating with not only having connection drop outs, but 60-70% of the time the signal goes off completely, forcing the phone to search and register for a network signal, chewing the battery down. Only way to avoid this is to have network selection mode set to Manual instead of Auto, but then if I don't notice a lost signal, then the phone will be out of coverage till I actually notice, search and re-select Vodafone from the service provider list.

Vodafone, unless you can successfully provide the basic service of a cellphone network coverage to your customers, I really think its useless to show off how futuristic you can be by making robots smack on Pinatas...
27 Dec 2010 03:37:16 PM: i live in prahran too and it is a total black spot for vodafone and has been for years. i spend a lot of time in my backyard making calls as bad coverage inside, they still drop out frequently though and the volume varies dramatically. i rang vodafone before all the bad publicity started about their coverage, after waiting nearly an hour on hold they blamed my phone so i tried using another one but same problems. am furious to know that they knew they had problems with coverage and just wouldn't admit it. they should not be allowed to advertise for new customers when they don't have the capacity to service their current ones

I have only just switched to vodafone. Admittedly, it is slightly the cheapest of the major telco companies, but by a large margin, the worse. I have only had my phone for 2 months and get no reception at all in my house. As soon as i get home, i have to switch to GSM to get any reception at all.

I consider myself a fairly patient person, but having to call Vodafone Customer Care 8 times to get a matter resolved is preposterous. Each time, i was on hold for no less than 40 minutes. For such a large company, I expected much more. After only 2 months, I am seeking alternative ways to cancel my contract or enter a new plan.

I've only been a customer for two months. In metro areas the signal drops out and the 3G Internet is extremely slow. Thank heavens I only have 22 months left on my contract. I am on the unlimited plan and have 3 gb of Internet data per month. I recently watched one day if the Perth test on my phone and it's lucky the match ended early as it used 2 gb of data. I had to pay for the privilege of watching the match and on top of that they would of charged me my first born if I had if watched the full match. Maybe Vodafone should not include the streaming as counted download for their customers. Very dissapointing as I can't watch the match that is currently in progress as I am close to exceeding my monthly data limit. Overall Vodafone's network is terrible and I only expect it would get far worse further away from metro areas.

I have been a prepaid customer with vodafone for about 6 years now, so I'm exactly in the same boat as all you post paid customers, but it is still frustrating having my calls drop out, not being able to connect at all to a call, slow internet, and having bad reception all the time. Every time I call I get a customer service rep in Egypt, who tells me my iphone is the problem, when it's not, because when I tried an optus sim, it worked perfectly. It's really frustrating, I haven't recharged in the last month and a half because of my frustration, but prior to that I use to recharge with $100 every month. I know I can change companies, being that I'm not locked into anything, but it's still annoying :(
