Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

spent hours trying to get through to customers service, then they billed me $700 for the pleasure of calling their number.
Also went on a road trip from Darwin to Adelaide, only had reception till 20km outside darwin, just within the town circle of Alic springs and Port Augusta and the same for Adelaide on Kangaroo Island there was none. Two other people one with Telstra and the other optus were more in reception than out of it and had reception on the island too. I was absolutly sickened, my partner alos has vodafone and she was also without reception so it definaltly was not the handsets

I am in the middle of moving house and now I need to change all of my credit card details and passwords due to their inexcusable data leak. Also months of poor reception dropped calls etc. but this pales into comparison to GIVING OUT MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THEM!!!!!!

11321 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is PRETTY AWFUL at 9 Jan 2011 09:11:45 AM
I have just FINALLY spoken with someone about disconnecting my service - having gone elsewhere already. I'm told I still have to pay the full penalty nless I allow them to investigate whether I live in a low reception area. That would tip me into yet anotehr billing cycle - it takes about 72hrs - and then they will only waive the fee if my billing address is low. What about the rest of the state, including the neighbouring suburbs where I can't get recpetion in my brother's house? And what about the country areas I need to travel to for work where there is no reception? Apparaently they can't use any of those postcodes.
As for the news reports today about personal details being accessed - the fee is perhaps a small price to pay in the long run?
Now to switch my daughter's prepaid and we're completely FREEEEEEE.......

9 Jan 2011 08:47:06 AM: Ben, we feel your pain many times over, what a nightmare!!! Have you thought about the TIO details in the tab at the top, How To Complain ? I've found just very recently that the mere mention of the TIO has a tendency to focus Vodafail's mindset!! Good luck and let us know how you get on!!
9 Jan 2011 05:45:38 PM: its a prepay handset, not a big issue
9 Jan 2011 07:16:22 PM: i'll keep that in mind, but i think i've had enough trying to talk to vodafone for now :P

and it may be a prepay handset, but its still my money, in fact, i pay for the services before i can use them, and then find they dont work.

the biggest problem is that its not just me, its our whole towns vodafone customers
14 Jan 2011 11:52:21 PM: wow that sounds like a fun experience. jeez man if you are prepay just ditch them!
17 Jan 2011 08:24:19 PM: Ben, you're telling porkies mate, as much as you wish to present like you've called Telstra or investigated this issue in depth, you haven't. Vodafone doesn't have any Telstra owned or managed towers, they own their own infrastructure and the only portion of networks that work with Telstra are due to 3's roaming agreements with Telstra, which were established before the companies merged, and have absolutely NOTHING to do with Vodafone or Vodafone customers, and if you had in fact spoken to Telstra about this, they would've have told you that... Make up your own information and then hate the world for not being able to support your hypothesis, good call my man

I have been having so much trouble with VF. They gave me the run around last year before I was going overseas about lodging faults, resetting my handset and sending me a new sim card. I found out whilst overseas when the s__t hit the fan and it was all over the news that this is the rubbish they are telling customers when they are fully aware of the faults that are present.

I have since came back from overseas and the data on my phone still sometimes won't work and I lose 3G reception all the time and I had a call failure while I was ringing 1555. VF still don't know how to unlock my iphone for me and even told me to go to the Apple store and ring them back from there. At the end of the conversation they told me to call them back tomorrow morning to try and unlock my phone as there were no iphone support staff working at the time I called last night.

The latest and best bit so far, is the new sim card they sent me which I activated last night at 6pm was to take around an hour to become active and I was to use it when the old sim stopped working. It's 10:30am the next morning and I am still using my original sim.

I have so many complaints about VF that it would take me forever to write down but I have everything documented and will be lodging a complaint with the TIO monday morning, with all my notes.

I moved to Rockhampton from N.S.W. Central coast. I have gone from ok coverage to nothing at all and they wanted me to keep paying my bills for a service I was not recieving. I went to the TIO and they told me I had to keep paying my bill. I want to get out NOW
9 Jan 2011 10:19:15 AM: So do a LOT of their customers, and unfortunately you are not top of the queue. I'm certain some of their problems are caused by THEIR programming errors. This might speed up the process as the TIO notices a pattern developing.

11300 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Appalling at 9 Jan 2011 08:19:04 AM
I posted below at 11209 re incorrect number displaying and phone not ringing.

After about 4 hours I got a call back from Vodafone - well rather my switched on phone, full reception, sitting beside me phone got a voicemail. Could not use the return call (was a mobile number) feature in voicemail. About an hour later I got another call (private number) which came through.

Got a guy with a strong Indian accent and barely understandable.

Was told it was a phone issue and to try my SIM in another handset. Told him I did not have another handset so he told me I'd have to go and buy a new one!!!! And until I had done this step they could not raise it as a technical issue. I told him that I was unable to complete the set and I was well aware it was a service issue. So all he says is, yes I understand you cannot complete that step and I can raise it as a technical issue but I need you to first try a different handset ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Thankfully I am on prepaid and I've inherited and iPhone which arrives tomorrow and that's going on the corporate plan we have with Telstra and I'm saying goodbye to 10 years of loyalty to Vodafone.

11299 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Tricky fingers! at 9 Jan 2011 08:09:02 AM
Hi everyone. Vodafone have failed in ALL aspects of delivering a trouble free service. I have had to spend countless hours trying to get them to fix mistakes/inaccurate information etc ... tiring, FRUSTRATING & UN-professional! In November 09, I received a leaflet in the mail with an optional phone upgrade since 12 months of my contract had pasted. I took up the offer as the only main difficulty I'd had with their service at that point was contacting them with LONG DRAWN out WAITING periods. I took the brochure to my local V/office & they had NO information about it on their system - were checking the leaflet closely to determine if it was legit. I waited for hours whilst Voda contacted itself going through all the usual hoops & loops as I have in the past, in order to make sense of this offer. It took them 2 days to sort it out one office blaming the other whilst there was NO consolidation for the customer - ME. First phone they gave me (once all sorted) had a torn seal I noticed with a new one covering the broken. I rang again to further complain & was told that it may have been opened to show a customer - it wouldn't have been used before tho. Well, it wouldn't work, it was a faulty handset, I had to take it back to V in order to prove my point (blood boiling at this point). A new handset was eventually offered - seals all intact & now the problem is the signal strength. It drops out of coverage ALL the time, & downloading apps is virtually impossible due to the signal strength. I also tried & signed up with their Internet service after a week or so of complaining on the phone that the their was a Problem with the USB (endless calls & so called guidance from their Techsperts) they deemed it faulty also & sent a POST packet to return device - all I had to do was save a sticker for confirmation that I had posted it. They didn't cancel that plan tho as I had requested in the "cooling off" period & I then started to receive charges for a service I was NEVER able to use & had disconnected. They said, "we never received the USB back" & required information relating to receipt of re-postage. I had followed their instructions to the fine print and they KEPT STATING I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG. AFTER EXPLODING on the phone to a supervisor they looked into the matter & released me from that contract - but at a HUGE cost & time allocation to me.
I WANT OUT OF MY CURRENT CONTRACT (PHONE). I DEEM THEM UNFIT TO PROVIDE A HASSLE FREE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE - THEY ARE GROSSLY INCOMPETENT IN ALL AREAS AND IT'S TURNING OUT TO BE A VERY STRESSFUL & COSTLY EXPERIENCE TO MYSELF. I haven't listed ALL V's faulty/shonky behaviour either - believe me when I say there IS more to write about, however I can only unravel so much at a time before I get REALLY ANNOYED & need to take a breather.
Best of luck to all in trouble with V - persevere & GET THE HECK OUT OF THEIR CLUTCHES!!!!!! Remember - freedom is at the end of their dark tunnel!

11292 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 9 Jan 2011 08:00:22 AM
I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for nearly 8 years, and I can still remember when Vodafone had fantastic customer service and great reception. I actually used to get calls from Vodafone to check up and see if everything was OK. Of late, you'd be lucky to get through to an operator in less than an hour of waiting on hold!

Now let's not get started with the reception! I have noticed a steady decline in coverage since around 2 years ago. I run an IT company and travel all around Sydney. I have zero reception in a high apartment in Homebush, and zero reception in Alexandria in my office. This means any time I'm at home or work, I have zero reception! Home/Office would account for around 70% of my time so that means missed calls and lost revenue from jobs I could have taken on! Even out and about, I call 20 times in a row and kept getting the dreaded 'Call Failed' message! This is with full reception!

Vodafone's 'broadband' speed is a friggen joke! It's seriously slower than dialup when it works, and that's probably only half the time.

Vodafone get your shit together, as a mobile phone company we as your customers expect our phones to work when we need it, not when it suits you! Not much of a 'contract' when Vodafone doesn't fulfill its end of the bargain!

Signal was ok on my iPhone 3GS in Melbourne, moved to Wollongong, NSW and 3G coverage is basically zero! Network team are "looking into my issues" but unless they are going to build a load more towers and quickly, I can't see things changing. 18 months left of my contract and can use my iPhone for calls and sms and that's it! And to top it off I hear today they have all our details on the internet waiting for hackers to get!

11285 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor coverage & service at 9 Jan 2011 07:43:36 AM
i am the owner of a small business that relies on my phone to get jobs. as of late eg, last few months, call drop outs whilst on phone either driving or stationary, or not even being able to dial out, however i have 2 to 3 bars of service on phone though. delay on getting voice mail. it's a bit hard to run a business when i can't even get jobs booked in.
just heard via media outlets that now vodafone's storage of customers details have now been accessed by other soucres, if that is the case, anything that has been accessed from me & can be proven that it was at fault from vodafone, look out vodafone, they will have more dramas than they thought.

11284 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone Customers can't call or SMS me at 9 Jan 2011 07:38:45 AM
I am a 3 customer and all of a sudden I was getting emails and facebook messages from friends whom are with Vodafone asking if I have changed my number. I was still receiveing calls and sms's from other friends and family from other networks though. When they tried to sms me, I would never recieve it, but they would receive my sms and calls. When they tried to call me they recieved the message "Phone not in Use" It took 3 months of convincing, examples including number dates and times, new sim card, visits to a 3 store to change my phone and long hours waiting for help on the phone before 3 could raise a network issue with Vodafone before it was fixed. i was advised that they are the same company now, so why did I have to go through all the pain for such a long time? I didn't receive compensation for my time, frustration and breech of contract on their side. I said that I want to cancel my contract, and they said I couldnt cancel unless I pay out my contract but they offered to transfer my contract the vodafone for free! I said you got to be kidding, they are half the problem. I never got an answer as to why all this happened. When my contract runs out in April, there is no way I will use 3 or Vodafone ever again in my life and personally I think they don't care either.

11283 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Immoral and dysfunctional at 9 Jan 2011 07:28:58 AM
One day i got sick of my old phone as we all do so i decided to get a brand new phone from vodafone and i was as happy as a pig in shit. Only it wasn't long before content soon turned to contempt as i was forced to wait days on end for my number to transfer (i was previously with telstra...now i'm sorry) and to have my SIM card activated in their network.
At first i was happy to wait but that was day one, day two i grew curious as to why nothing has happened. Day three i became slightly lesser of the happy larry i was a few days ago but still held on to a forgiving grace and a blind hope of something that'll probably never happen. Day four i found myself deperately looking for an answer and asked for help at the store i bought i bought my phone from, being told it was a system fault and vodafone are tackling the issue so that it'd be fixed on the day, my spirits were lifted indeed so i persevered. Day 5...what? nothing? *facepalm*. Day 6...i wake up not in my bed but huddled in a lonely corner of my room where no light has ever touched it since the beginning of its days, i felt a fever creeping from behind ready to sap what remains of my vigor from my once beautifully sculpted body that has deteriorated into a lifeless skeleton, in the face of what appeared to be a singled out famine of technological communication with my teenage peers...i'm afraid my youthful spirit died along with my teenage stereotype in which i felt so at home...
Day...ugh...the days were a blur, it no longer mattered to me...without text, without phonecalls, without mobile facebook and the many thrills it brings with its trivial gossip that are somewhat gratifying to hear of as well as the stupid but "so true" facebook groups to join...i thought i would be dead very soon.
It was only when i got this brand new computer today that i am alive today, i am terribly grateful. surfing through hundreds of facebook updates following days of starvation was the most transcending sensation a youth like me could experience other than most other physical endorsements...but yes it felt good but i wasn't complete for i had no working phone plan.
then...i receive this mail from vodafone and these money lusting corporate pigs are happy to squeeze me for my money, i am being charged for a dysfunctional phone plan. o...m...g...
no.

I have been with '3' since it was 'Orange'- but it is ruined since the merge with vodafone in terms of reception. I even encouraged my whole family on to 3 over the years - none of them are happy either. I can't wait until my contract ends.
9 Jan 2011 08:34:13 AM: you know, the BIGGEST problems i had, such as the text messages not sending, didnt happen until after the vodafone and 3 merge.

I myself was going to switch to 3, and then they went and did that.

11272 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Deceitful and Dishonest at 9 Jan 2011 06:02:49 AM
1. First a positive note. Vodafails primary DNS server listed in many connection software programs HASN'T WORKED FOR MONTHS AND DOESN'T RESPOND TO PINGS. Shows you what a pathetic ISP Vodafone is! Now the better bit. If possible change your DNS servers to another ISP's or OpenDNS. The combination of Google's DNS 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 works well with Googles Chrome, probably because they are on the same network [Googles]. But don't everyone do this or the servers could be overloaded leading to similar problems as VFail's. Ping iinet's servers for instance or other ISP's and pick the fastest. Chrome is a leaner faster browser than M$ IE.

Now to the dishonest deceitful part.

Vodafone urged customers to take up online billing a while back and I did. BUT
any payments other than my regular monthly payment were not transferred across.
So payments due to excess usage were not credited. Even when I went into their store at Westfield Carindale (ground floor), the Manager tried to bully me and didn't think there was anything wrong with the fact that ON THEIR SYSTEM one screen showed I owed ~$59 while another showed I owed ZERO, [which was what the situation should be]. Now you can't access your bill history and they are going on the online accounting system, meaning that they will assume I haven't paid when I had. Fortunately I have bank records and printscreens to back up my case.

Geez, even the 'Salami' scammer only took a 1c from everyone's bank account, not $60!!

Any professionals out there I suggest you ask for compensation with the lawyers for the HOURS, DAYS you have spent WASTED ON THIS USELESS ORGANISATION ESPECIALLY THE CE0 AND MARKETING LOT! AT THE HOURLY RATE FOR YOUR PROFESSION.

11260 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is run by liars at 8 Jan 2011 11:48:54 PM
i was a vodafone store manager until the merger with 3 when i was made redundant along with hundreds of other employees. the area surrounding my store had pretty shit coverage however i was constantly told by higher ups that new towers are almost finished in the area and that coverage would improve greatly. so i told this to my staff and customers thinking it was true and we signed up a lot of customers. these towers were never built during the next 2 years before i left and i had a lot of angry customers coming into the store calling me a liar. i felt bad because i screwed a fair few people over and ended up costing them money to cancel their contracts (i did manage to get a few cancelled for no charge thanks to tio lol) anyway the main point i want to get across is that most of the time the store staff are getting told info that is not correct and passing it onto customers thinking they are doing the right thing, so go easy on them its probably not their fault if they b.s you.
9 Jan 2011 10:26:48 AM: I think you are probably right, psychopaths generally treat everyone abusively, and are not honest to some but not to others. VF appears to have quite cynically done this. Abused customers and employees. I was happy with them until the network and accounting errors started.

11254 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail fail fail at 8 Jan 2011 10:47:44 PM
I am an ex Vodafone employee, I was with them for 5 years in that time they have transformed from a customer orientated company giving out loyalty reward handsets etc etc and also having an excellent network which was not over crowded to not giving a crap about their customers and an absolute bottlenecked network. As an employee I had complained on many occasions regardingthe lack of network, the disgusting poor lousy 3G network they have and all i ever got was the run around. The amount of times I have had to shout at a customer care consultant to fix an issue for a customer who had come into the store I used to work at would be over the 50 mark. To cap it off if a company can not look after it's staff the frontline and face of it's business how is it going to look after their customers. I'm not sure if you are aware but afterte Vodafone and 3 merger vodafone bought the stores back off first mobile, digicall, gsm etc since then a huge amount of staff have quite including man Teritory managers, state managers and atleast 25% of retail staff. Bonuses were cut by 50%. Now a days they employee young staff who are casuals that go to university, tafe etc. They do not have much responsibility like the full time staff and just come in do their shift and go home. Pretty much Maccas employees. Vodafone is going down the drain big time. Switch over carriers and don't look back.

11253 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Pretty fail worthy at 8 Jan 2011 10:45:42 PM
Msg fail...again...due to no network coverage. This of course just triggered my memory of seeing this site being talked about on TV and thinking finally someone has said something about how bad it really is and thought i would share my frustrations with the network. Yet again i have gone to sms and there is no coverage in, outside or around my house which is based in Perth. This happens most of the time no matter where i am and is really frustrating. I seem to also receive msg's a lot later than when people have sent them to me & also have a lot of network errors when i try to call people and it takes two or three times to actually get a dial tone. I have only just learned of the '30 minute wait' when calling Vodafone now as if it wasn't bad enough before that. All i wanted was a new password because their temporary one they supplied me failed to work..and this is only so i can get on their site as I really dislike the new set up for sending out bills via email, but needless to say cannot download my new bill until i can get onto the site for some reason. I sympathize though for the people who really needed their phones in that massive dropout they had recently, Vodafone need to get their act together before they lose all their customers if they haven't already lost enough. :/

At first I just thought it was me & my bf with lousy service until I found this page.
My issues- *Little to No service *Little to No internet connection
*Calls constantly dropping out *Msgs I send being received hours/days later
*False service readings. It said I had full service and I couldn't do anything when I needed to.

I need phone reception!! I couldn't call for help when I was in a car crash, I have been stuck with 2 young children and was unable to call for a lift, I couldn't call the police after kids tried to steal my car, I missed a train and had no phone/internet reception to check a timetable as I was trying to get to an airport. Not to mention the smaller things or trying to get in contact with myy family etc. I've really had enough. I have had to switch back to my Optus prepaid Which I shouldn't have to do in a contract.
Last week we called Vodafone and went through the "switch off and turn it back on" routine and a big surprise..no service...
We were put on hold and transferred. Then 61 mins into the call it dropped out.
We called back twice and after an hour each time it dropped out (from a landline) we called back and got the option for them to call us back.
They called back and started the process again "turn the Phone off" They then told us they would get the engineers to call us back within 72 hours.
The "Call" was 4 days later and actually an Sms saying that they were working on it.

1 week later, 3 hours on hold 1 call and sms from vodafone nd we are in the same position. Its not good enough!!!

I established a business in Eltham around last Christmas. As soon as I moved in I found my nokia N97 mini cannot accept any call and cannot make any call within the town of Eltham. Usually I take train to Eltham from Heidelberg. As long as the Train arrived Eltham, my mobile stops working. It is kind strange that the signal bar is full and if somebody call me, the phone rings but as I try to accept the call, the phone give me an error "request rejected" and then "network busy". If I try to make a call, there is no dialing tone, but end with "network busy". I contact the Vodafone at 31st Dec 2010 and the guy told me they will give me a response in 3 days. This promise failed and I contact them 8 Jan 2011 again. The guy said they will contact me in 3 hours and give me a response. This failed too. I will try another time in next few days.

11240 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is EPIC at 8 Jan 2011 05:38:51 PM
My reception is crap 50% of the time even in the city centre.
I send mms and sms that never arrive at the other end.
I try to get my usage details via the sms function and often get nothing.
3G drops out all the time.
I went into a Vodafone/3 store to find out what was going on and they did a hard restart which obviously did nothing. They even made it sound like it wasn't a common problem!
I'm fed up with having a substandard service when I'm paying them $59 ($49 plan + $10 payment for iPhone4 handset) a month for a reliable service.

I've had to come to Port Hedland.
The only way I can get a signal/use the service is to be outside and generally only in certain areas. The Vodafail "Service area" map on their website shows excellent coverage up here.
I went and got a Telstra card and have full service everywhere I don't have Vodafail. What the hell? It's 2011 and mobiles have been in Port hedland for years. Pick up your act Vodafail!!!

11232 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Customer service incompetence at 8 Jan 2011 03:50:01 PM
I was put through to so many different people and my problem was never resolved, I spoke to people with incredibly impenetrable accents who could barley understand me and my problem of no reception was never solved. I went into the stores and rang and rang and I swear to god was on hold for an entire week! I lost work and they are in no way going to compensate me. They have however cancelled my contract. At least!
I am now not sure which company to go through?

11231 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is terrible at 8 Jan 2011 03:43:35 PM
This complaint has to do with their customer service. After buying the new Desire HD I wanted to use my old phone number from Optus(L) and the Vodafone employee said no worries. So we went through all the form etc, no worries. I leave the store and after the expected change over time of an hour my new phone still has no reception. To cut a long story short, I have no visited this store 5 times in 4 days and still can't use my phone. Thats ok Vodafone, I didn't want to call my family anyway...
11 Jan 2011 02:34:54 PM: As an employee of VHA i can say that this does happen from time to time, but in most instances it is because either Voda or the other carrier has incorrect details or you provide an incorrect billing account number i.e. it is a human error.

Rang Brisbane landline from Geelong beach location and call dropped out after about 1 minute. On re-dialling a message appeared saying 'connection failure' or some such. After several more attempts with the same result, gave up and borrowed a friend's mobile connected to Optus network. Completed the conversation successfully, but embarrassed that MY network couldn't.

I live in the mid Blue Mountains where 3g service is regularly poor. Today I missed out on an ebay auction where the net dropped out and my bid didnt go through..again. No point ringing Vodafone I do not wish to remain on hold for average 25 mins only to be apologised to. They, In my opinion have signed up way too many new clients and the hardware cannot cope. The way I feel now I have no choice but to go back to copper fone line. I came across from Telstra and I cant believe Im contemplating going back. Truth IS stranger than fiction.

Literally no more than 5 minutes ago, I was sitting on my couch and my phone alerts me that I have a voice mail, which I find interesting considering my phone didn't even ring. The real kicker is that my reception was showing I had full bars! If I can't even receive phone calls, why on earth do I have a mobile phone. It is not my iphone either, as I only updated to the latest software on itunes yesterday. All my friends and family have pretty much given up calling me coz they can never get through so I resort to communicating via facebook. What's even worse is I'm currently looking for a job, and how confident do you think I am that prospective employers will be able to successfully reach me on my phone? Yea not so much...vodafail of epic proportions. Don't even start me on the effectiveness of my 3 mobile broadband dongle, I'll leave that for another day and another website. Piper Alderman, I look forward to hearing from you!

11212 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 8 Jan 2011 01:34:09 PM
I purchased a mobile broadband plan and modem from Vodafone at the end of Nov 2010. When I got it home, I had internet reception or pages loaded after waiting for 5 minutes. It took me 5 days of continuous calling/getting hung up on/visits to the store of purchase to get a refund and cancellation of my plan. HOWEVER. it didn't stop there as I received a bill for December. Further phone calls and visits to store and I was finally informed that all fees were waived and plan was cancelled. Then today, january 8th, I received ANOTHER bill! I am really starting to think they just enjoy wasting everyone's valuable time.

It shows reception there! just no go. the it decides to completely wipe reception. this is not the phone, for a telstra sim works fine.

No reception, cant send messages if it does they are delayed by more than one day constantly, people cant contact me when my phone is on and in range.
I receive voicemails days after they have rung without any record of the phone call.
Constantly out of service, when call barring was placed on my phone it took them 48mins to answer my first call and once the mistake was "fixed" i had to call back as it wasn't and spent another 1 hour WAITING to speak to someone who saw that nothing had been fixed on the phone.
I am sick of paying for phone bills when i am on $99 unlimited for everything when i am not receiving a full service !

After reading some stories on this site, my problems with Vodafone are all too familiar with mainstream complaints. Call dropouts after a few seconds, meaning another call cost charge/connection fee a few times in one conversation; hardly any reception where I live (Bunbury area, south of Perth); trouble sending smsand pxt as most times pxt not even send!!; on hold for extremely long periods of time and when I finally reach customer support are then re-routed to same number to dial or even back to original person, have trouble understanding non-english support teams!!; no satisfaction when trying to quiz my account and they cover up inadequate esponse with 'fake' niceness; cut off my service without prior warning and generally...a great desire to cancel contract ASAP!!
Not happy.

We were with 3 and have no issues with them, with Vodafone taking over 3 we decided to upgrade our phones and move to Vodaphone. We have been with them for about three weeks now and have yet to have a time where our phones can actualy ring each other ( even in the same room we cannot connect at times). Our young son just got his first pre paid with Vodaphone and we cannot even ring or get a text fro him ( worried parents). From our view we have been ripped off with lousy network coverage, dropouts and lousy customer service, if we had known how bad they were we would have stayed with 3 or gone to Optus or another telco. Vodaphone are shocking.

I go into the CBD to be given a service that has below dialup speeds and random dropouts. I may as well use dialup, it would faster!
I took my device to a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY and got full internet speed all the time with no dropouts.

I have had ongoing problems with vodafail over the past few months with poor internet coverage, call dropouts and not being able to make calls when my iphone tells me i have full reception! "Call failed" is something i have become very familiar with. As of yesterday morning i have not been able to make or recieve ANY calls, however my phone is still telling me i have ample reception. Some messages are getting through and others aren't. I am extremeley frustrated as i am unable to contact vodafone via phone to find out whats going on nor can i find an email address on their website as the "contact us" email facility is down. How convenient.

I posted about my frustration on facebook and somebody suggested i need to turn of 3G, i have no idea how to do this or what this means.
8 Jan 2011 10:22:26 AM: It means setting your network from 3G to say, 2G. It is a setting somewhere on your phone (phone settings?) depending on what phone you have. On my blackberry is under manage connections -> mobile network options. You can always post back on facebook to ask for more detailed instructions.

I recently moved and could not obtain Vodafone coverage, when I tried to contact them (using a friends phone) about having to change to another provider in order to use my phone, I could not get through, was put on hold, was cut off after being put on hold repeatedly...I wasted hours of my life that I will never get back! I went to a Vodafone office and they also had to call the central line?? Eventually I was told that I had to pay an early termination fee because Vodafone don't provide coverage - I live 30kms from Brisbane, the state's capital city!!!
The Aussie Cricket team are obviously with a bunch of losers...maybe Vodafone should spend their money on their network coverage and operational call centre instead of corporate boxes....

The current fault reporting systems are in a worse state than the network, if that is possible. 11188 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Need To Speak To Someone in Australia at 8 Jan 2011 08:42:08 AM
I have just taken a call from an operator at the Indian call centre in response to a complaint about poor network performance. It was on behalf of my son who has given my number as a backup contact. They said they had been trying to contact him for the past two days but have been unsuccessful. No surprises, I haven't been able to contact him on his mobile either. Fortunately he is with a friend who is with Telstra, and I can call him to make contact with my son. I asked for a phone number of someone to speak to in Australia, but all I was given as contact numbers were 1555 (constantly drops out, if it answers at all), 1300 650 410 (Indian call centre who don't seem to be aware that a problem exists in Australia) and 1300 111 111 (apparently this also goes to a call centre in India). I have just tried to call my son on his phone, and guess what, I am unable to get through. Looks like another call to his friend on Telstra. Given that my son can't get through to anyone at Vodafone, despite numerous unsuccessful attempts, does this qualify as reasonable grounds to lodge a TIO complaint.
8 Jan 2011 09:30:19 AM: As long as you feel you have a complaint, you can contact the TIO. They will give you a reference number and ask Vodafone to contact you to resolve the issue. So at some point, Vodafone will have to get through you your son/yourself for anything to be resolved. Getting the TIO involved will increase your son's chances of getting the outcome he is after.

i purchased an i phone 4 and was told by vodafone i could unlock it straight away to put my testra sim in as i dont get coverage at my house and they were the cheapest to get an i phone from as i still have a yr and a half on my telstra contract. surprise surprise after swaooing my sim over to a icro sim it will now take upto 10 days to unlock the handset. vodafone you suck you mislead customers to sign up and then you dont do anything to help i hope you go bankrupt!!
8 Jan 2011 11:11:30 AM: Quite often if you buy a new phone from any network the unlock code is not readily available and it can take a week or so for the network to get the code from the manufacturer.

Once your phone is 3-6 months old or beyond the unlock code is immediately avaibable.

Two factors 'may' inpact upon the 3-6 month time frame:

(1) the manufacturer / brand of the phone; and/or
(2) how long the phone was held in stock at the stop you bought it from.
8 Jan 2011 01:43:23 PM: Actually you can get the unlock codes 24 hrs after signing up, by going to vodafone.com.au/unlock The iphone is the exception as with all telcos, you need to contact customer service they will then contact apple to get the code, and then you will recieve an SMS to plug into iTunes with another network's sim and that process should be 3 to 4 working days.
8 Jan 2011 02:48:07 PM: when signng up i was told i could unlock it srtaight away, i have had the phone for 2 weeks and still cant get anywhere with them, i called the about the issue and was told 10 days i said that wasnt good enough as i was told i could do it straight away and that was why i signed up. They then put me onto a supervisor who told me it was apples fault not theirs, he would sort it out and call me back, 5 hrs later no call from him so i call apple yself. Find out they told voda everything is ok on their end and that voda eed to escalate the issue as my imei seems like it hasnt been released yet.........I HATE VODAFONE!!! thanks for the useless phone!!

Running a business is already a lot of work.
After spending tens of thousands of dollars on advertising to increase the number of calls to our business, it is embarrassing and frustrating when the call drops out before we have a chance to take the customer's details. I thought this was something to do with the iPhone, however, after speaking with others with the same phone on different networks, this is not the case.
Vodafone is the only cause for concern. This is not what we signed up for.

2) internet access via phone is hopeless. Often 3 ~ 5 tries to get a page load...
3) I NEVER had a chance to speak to Technical Support because after 30 min wait, they hang off my call... wtf.. I got this so many time I finally give up.
Email communication receive 0 feedback apart from auto-reply of reception confirmation.

ps: my area clayton. Phone HTC DHD . Just sign up on DEC. Same phone with different sim card have full 100% signal strength whereas with vodaphone sim card it never stay above 50%.

11174 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Just shoot Me! at 8 Jan 2011 06:11:57 AM
I've had years of struggle and hair pulling despair with vodafone, because they offer no customer service or coverage on areas they claim to have coverage.
Now I have new name for my pain VIRGIN MOBILE!
I wanted to start my new year with new service provider, so I went to the Virgin Mobile on-line store, because on this website somebody said that they have good customer service. I bought prepaid mobile phone, sim and Wi-Fi modem. Seemed simple enough, but they took the payment twice from my visa debit card.
I have spent the whole week begging them to return thee other payment, but they claim that they never took it. My bank tells me that they can see that Virgin mobile took two payments of $197.
I haven't been able to pay my rent or some of my bills, because they hold on to that $197 and refuse to let it go. I told Virgin Mobile that I cancel my order and have sent back all the items, hoping to get back the other $197 they admit taking.
Yes, they do have people eventually answering their phones at the end, but they can take ten days after receiving the goods back, before returning the first payment. The second payment may have been lost forever.
My bank and VIRGIN MOBILE MANAGER told me that it's my own fault to lose the money, because I went to make the purchase on-line! How stupid of me to use their official website, and Visa Debit card, for on-line shopping!
And I'm still stuck with Vodafone, because until I get my money back, I can't go shopping for new phone or modem.
8 Jan 2011 10:27:33 AM: Why are you wasting you time with anything other than Telstra NExtG? Your just moving from one cheap provider to another. Pay more, and get what you pay for.

poor reception even in Mel CBD,only occasional internet access
tricked by salesperson's map that pinpointed my house as 3G,excellent internet coverage.Website 'under repair'to check usage(OK for paying bills)Hours and hours wasted on the phone to very polite techos who cant fix the problem....its too big!
Cant use 1.5g or $450 of calls .....seldom any net, poor quality calls, drop out rate high....if you can get on at all...
8 Jan 2011 11:51:29 AM: Reminds me of '3' and their size 4 font contracts, being labelled a bad credit risk because you did a download, and then getting service cut off etc.

I sit here in my room, with my E71 on Vodafone's network in my hand, and I get absolutely no signal at all. None. I step outside, and sit barely one meter from where I was on the other side of the wall and I finally get one bar of signal but even that doesn't last very long. If I head out into the middle of the road in front of the house, stand there and hold my phone straight up into the air and in my hand on a slight angle I can get a great signal, but unfortunately this makes me susceptible to a sudden car run-over.

11167 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is very fail at 8 Jan 2011 12:32:18 AM
a once very satisfied vodafone customer that is now becomming impatient, since the big fail of saturday the 7th of december 2010 when I lost all reception, email ability a subsequently no contacyt with anyone for half a day I now condstantly get very limited reception in my house, constant drop out calls where I cannot connect with other people or it goes through to a silent void, numerous drop outs in conversation that do connect, a delay of about 3/4 hours in sending and recieving messages, calls and missed calls simply not ringing and registering and voicemail messages not getting through for hours. I am now getting very impatient and fed up of vodafone and wish I didnt renew my contract only 4 months ago.
8 Jan 2011 06:54:45 AM: No need to wish, check out the 'how to complain' page and you might find a way to get out of your contract without charge. You are paying for a service and vodafone is having difficulty delivering it.

11164 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Wont renew my contract at 7 Jan 2011 10:01:22 PM
I was already on a prepay service with Vodafone before i signed up to a contract. When i went to sign up for a 24 months contract, i had a bit of credit left on my prepay service already and i was advised by the sales rep that although he is signing me up on that day, i will be given a full month to use my existing prepaid credits, and he agreed not to date the contract. I also have a copy of the contract and it is not dated. Guess what? As soon as i left the store, he dated the contract and my first bill sent included the first month even though i had prepaid credits on my phone. I went back to the store, phone customer service but to no avail. I was told i am being unrealistic! Anyway i am glad vodafail is set up so customers including large corporations can make up their mind whether they want to associate themselves with such an arrogant company. I wont go any further about recent network issues i have been having in Nov & Dec...i have read too many on this website already.

Thank you VODAFAIL, good idea...

8 Jan 2011 05:05:33 AM: Go back to store, you are entitled to 2 high visibility fluro shirts to be used when making calls from middle of the street,
8 Jan 2011 05:28:16 AM: I also read they are giving fuel vouchers so we can drive around and try find areas of ok coverage, also they are giving out distress flares so if you get in trouble and network down, you can send a flare up and hopefully someone will help
8 Jan 2011 11:39:38 AM: What about food vouchers so you can eat while on hold for hours. Perhaps some arrangement about toilet breaks also?

I recently went on holidays to 1770 in Qld. Absolutely NO reception. Not even a single bar to receive texts. On top of that we were stuck there in the middle of the flood waters, with no way to contact family to let them know we were trapped there, or that we were ok. On top of that I have calls dropping out constantly (in Brisbane), and often I have friends and family tell me they've been trying my mobile constantly, although it doesn't even ring.. Vodafone you suck!

Vodafone are absolute crap! i've been with them for about 6 years now and i've been experiencing problems with reception! everytime i call someone they either can't hear me properly or it cuts out and most of the time when i send txt msgs it gets sent twice when i've only sent it once! The worst mess i've been in so far has just happened recently where i've got a $149 cap from woolies and i've gone home straight away and pulled it out of my wallet to recharge my phone credit, i've pressed 1# to confirm my voucher number and for some strange reason they've directed me to vodafone call centre, i've explained to them what happened and the operator has asked me the voucher number as well as the serial number and it turns out that the voucher was already being used!! What the....??? i've gone back to woolies to complain abou the problem, they've checked it on their store camera's and so have I to make sure this lady hasn't picked up a used one off the counter, it turns out she hasn't. I've gone to ring vodafone again and complained and told them I was going to change phone companies if they didn'tn give me my credit and they said there's nothing they can do about it and all they could do was give me $50 straight credit!! GET STUFFED!!!! I'm now with Optus and so far so good!!...

11147 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is SO FAILED, SO BAD at 7 Jan 2011 07:42:46 PM
We live in North Lakes QLD, 25km from Brisbane City (not central QLD).10year old suburb that is exploding in population and has 13000 people now and is expected to have 25000. Vodafail has never had good reception. We have both mobiles with Vodafone and wireless broadband. We had contunial drop out and nil service with our broadband and eventually got is disconnected but had to wait out our 12month contract. We have now served 18months of a 24month contract and we are soooo done.
We reported bad service levels and recption to the North Lakes store on several occassion and throughout this period and of course no action. Went back recently and got given a phone number - 1300650410 to get our phone disconnected. Called 10days ago (60mins on hold) and they took all details and tried to say the coverage map says its okay. Well from India it would look good but how about you come stand in my loungeroom and make a call. Continuous drop out, nil service, missed calls, late voicemails and it goes on. They said they will investigate and get back within 72hrs. 264hrs later and guess what? no call! My wife called today at 1530 to see what was happening, 30mins to get hold of someone, then 5mins to go through notes. They acknowledged there was a technical issue in the area (really!)and they would be upgrading the area. They told us that 4yrs ago when we moved here. Transfered to cancellation department where she was onhold for 2hrs. Phone call was answered and immediately cut off. Called back, waited 30mins, spoke to another peron, explained I wanted to speak to someone now and not be placed on hold again, so I was put on hold then transferred to another line that rang and rang and rang for 80mins. Meanwhile my husband called them at 1830 tonight on another phone. My wife is still holding and on the phone since 1530. 30mins later my husband got "Shakeil". Obviously blew my stack at him and explained the events of today and last week. He was very very sorry! and said he would have someone from the cancellation team call me within 24-48hrs... Well Shakeil, I have heard all this before. He promised he would email the team leader direct, send a text message to my wifes phone(which has no reception) confirming the call back booking.... I can tell you know we have never ever been so angry, frustrated and annoyed in all our lives. Thats about 5hrs of my life that we will never get back. This has led me to consume upwards of 5 beers so far tonight and waste a crap load of money on calls waiting to be answered.
I hope Shakeil can live up to his promise, cause if we don't get a call in 24-48hrs to approv the cancellation of our service, there will be trouble!
7 Jan 2011 07:53:31 PM: Shit, served 18 months so far out of 24, shouldnt they give early release for good behaviour, or parole perhaps?
7 Jan 2011 08:02:21 PM: When in doubt give the TIO a shout :)

In other words, check out the how to complain link at the top of this page :D
7 Jan 2011 08:05:21 PM: Been to the TIO to and no response to my email or phone complaint - I tell you I am gunna crack soon!
7 Jan 2011 08:07:37 PM: Did you get a reference number?
7 Jan 2011 08:30:18 PM: asked for some kind of confirmation of the call and was provided with nothing...
7 Jan 2011 09:30:11 PM: Contact the TIO via their website, that way you get a reference number and vodafone then have 10-15 days to do something about it.
8 Jan 2011 07:37:53 AM: Vodafone Calling
'Can you pls explain your gender'.
From your post above it seems you have a husband and a Wife.
We need to confirm as to how to address you when we call for cancellation'

11144 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ****ASHES OVER, SPEED GOOD**** at 7 Jan 2011 07:22:51 PM
THE ASHES FINALLY OVER THE NETWORK SPEED SEEMS TO MAGICALLY BE GOOD.
STRANGE HOW THIS ALL STARTED ABOUT THE START OF THE ASHES.
NOT SEEN TO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CRICKET APP FROM VODAFONE FAILING.
AT 7 MILLION PLUS AT $2 DAY, SEEMS LIKE THE COMPANY DEDICATED ALL THE BANDWITH TO PROVIDE ASHES COVERAGE AND JUST DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE NETWORK SLOW DOWN TO THE OTHER BROADBAND/ 3G CUSTOMERS.
I THINK THIS WHOLE NETWORK UPGRADE WAS A SNOW JOB FOR THE REAL REASON THAT THEY WERE MORE INTERESTED IN THE BIG PROFIT FROM THE ASHES AND DID NOT THINK HOW THE BANDWITH WOULD OVERLOAD THE NETWORK. PRETTY BASIC IT TO STUFF UP.
VODAFONE SHOULD CREDIT ALL 3G / BROADBAND CUSTOMERS AT LEAST 10GB OF BANDWITH USE FOR THEIR LACK OF SUPPORT FOR THE OTHER CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO VIEW THE ASHES SERIES ON THERI MOBILE DEVICE.!!!!
7 Jan 2011 07:40:03 PM: Hmmmm, that sounds like a cool theory.
I wish some VF employees would do a Wikileak tell all about the failings of the VF network.
8 Jan 2011 04:40:55 AM: One of their ex engineers (left some months ago) told me that the company's policy is to be hopelessly light on engineers and hopelessly heavy on sales staff. At the low prices Vodafail charges their customers for its deals, they cannot hope to make the money to employ more engineers. Meanwhile Vodafail goes on signing up more and more customers. So the whole problem is a vicious circle.

Yes, let's have some Wikileaks! Do their engineers see any light at the end of the tunnel? To hell with the opinions of their PR and sales staff?
8 Jan 2011 06:57:53 AM: If you do have any leaks email them to someone@vodafail.com and we can safely release them to the public.

i have been sold a vodafone interent wireless stick on a contract. the contract isn't bad, 29.95 for 5gb or something, which i never use ... the problem is I CAN"T GET RECEPTION!!!! i have problems with my phone too, i can't get reception, my phone drops out during conversations, i cancel my insurance because when my phone breaks for some reason the insurance doesn't cover it, i keep get charged insurance for six months, i ring to complain and they tell me to go on the internet to look for a new plan! I CAN"T GET THE INTERNET THANK YOU VODAFONE!!! also ... just travelled from perth to airlie beach in a 4wd and needed my phone to call local police in each town to ask if roads were flooded, not that i could do that because vodafone doesn't get reception anywhere!!!! not happy with paying over $100 every month and not getting reception when i need it most. will more than likely go telstra when my contract ends. also have spent hours on hold with the phone on speaker so i don't kill my ear drums only to be hung up on.
7 Jan 2011 07:12:10 PM: Wait until you try to stop a contract extension when your 24 month term is up. You cannot email, call or have vodafone call back to end your contract. (see 10740) below. I think once you start with them your with them for life.My next step is a TIO complaint. I hope this will be the end to a crap service. I have changed to Telstra.

11124 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No words to explain... at 7 Jan 2011 05:20:43 PM
I have had a post already to state my issues with drop outs and lack of coverage at home and at work, yet they have managed to top it!!!

Yesterday I have had some problem with my touch pad, was not responding, so call for help. I was told that I should switch off the phone and do a hard boot. (Holding down send and hang up buttons as phone turned on)
After I have down that, phone has erased all data from the phone, booted, yet never fixed the issue, only created a new one. Phone is now completely useless, as it is asking to choose network provider, that is only can be down by tapping on one or the other....

Being Thursday, run down to Bondi Junction Vodafone, where 3 young stuff members were busy chatting with clients, in a very casual manner. After about 30 minutes of wait, one of them turned to me and asked, "what do you want"...

Quickly have set him straight, as that language and tone of voice was way out of line, bought a new phone out right and left as soon as I could!

I AM THROUGH WITH VODAFONE!!! I can't wait to have my contract finished and all of our phones (small business with all stuff on one plan), taking it elsewhere...
7 Jan 2011 05:55:38 PM: As someone in business, and having a lot of problems with vodafone, I honestly believe it makes economic sense to pay those greedy bastards at telstra, for what has to be far better coverage, and move on
7 Jan 2011 06:47:13 PM: I have used telstra for mobile internet broadband and 3g phone for several years and only use Vodafail as a backup. Telstra customer service also totally sucks big time but their mobile coverage all around australia is 1st class. I have been 20 metres underground, surrounded by solid rock and still get a 5 bar telstra signal. Vodafone could never come close to this.

11119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgraceful at 7 Jan 2011 04:13:24 PM
I am (was) a very long term Vodafone Customer who up until approximately 12 months ago was reasonably content with their service. I accepted poor coverage in regional areas and was constantly assured every time I took out another contract that 'the network was undergoing upgrades and would continue to improve'. It has since got progressively worse and is now completely unreliable and for the most part, unusable.
Living near the Brisbane CBD I now suffer continuous dropped calls, 1 bar of 3G (if I'm lucky), sporadic and poor data downloads, late SMS or voicemails, poor battery life due to continual network searching and an Iphone that works wonderfully as an Ipod and media device. It certainly doesn't run up a huge phone bill as it is spectacularly useless as a phone.
I also have a 3G mobile broadband USB device that has failed to work at all in terms of receiving my supposed 3Gig of free data per month. After numerous complaints and the standard 'technical investigations' Vodafone agreed to reduce my account by $10 per month after it admitted I lived in a poor reception area (7 kms from the CBD on a hill????).
So now I have a 3G USB device that serves nicely as a paperweight and an Iphone that I can listen to music on.
I now have to rely on a Telstra prepaid (a common theme from others on your website) to make calls. My constant complaints to Vodafone in relation to my phone reception was constantly met with the advice 'Switch your phone to 2G'.
If I wanted a 2G phone I would have damn well bought one. I paid for a 3G service and I don't have it. However their complaints system is so poor, wait times are so long, and requests are met with vague and generic 'investigations' or 'transfers to another team' that their expertise in bureacracy and spin rivals that of 'Yes Minister'or a team of spin doctors on Red Bull.
I contacted Vodafone last night (3 separate calls with an average 40 minute wait time) and advised I was cancelling my service. I was offered the same...wait for it...'technical investigation' (read stalling tactic)and advised I would have to pay the rest of my 18 months of payments (nearly $1200) to be released.
I am now working in direct support of the Queensland Floods in a senior planning position and my phone is critical to my work. I now have the phone switched off and transferred to another phone in order to ensure I am contactable.
I intend to pay the full amount as I am sick to death of dealing with customer service and their mythical 'technical investigations' (you don't need to be a communications engineer to determine that the network simply can't cope with so many smartphones competing for bandwidth)and leave in absolute disgust. Evidence will suggest that a bad customer experience generally results in advising at least ten of your friends of your experience. I intend to tell as many as I can to steer clear of this network as it continues to offer cheap deals and handsets with minimal or no reception.
I have contacted Australia's largest Telco who are very happy to match Vodafones price and guarantee the quality of their network. They also offered an incentive to transfer (they must be doing a roaring trade) and expressed they are dealing with many Vodafone customers who have given up in sheer frustration.
I am now nearly $1200 out of pocket and disgruntled with exceptionally poor serice and coverage. Quite simply I have had enough and will never go back to Vodafone.
I sincerely hope many others are released from their contracts, I have chosen to give up rather than spend my valuable time battling a huge corporation.
Incidentally I am more than happy for anyone from Vodafone to assess the veracity of my complaints and view for themselves the poor state of reception in and around Brisbane (not forgetting the national highway system, regional areas, inside buildings and in full view of Vodafone towers). I doubt however, that they will and fully expect the customer service offer of a 'callback; in 24 to 48 hrs (again a familiar theme on your website)will fail to eventuate, as will my 3G reception.

11 Nov 2011 06:57:27 PM: I had the very same problem and i went to the tio and i ported my number to telstra and i even ported my iPad number from optus to telstra the iPad number was a usb modem number and now i got rid of the optus modem and desposed it into a mobile phone recicabale bin but i would like to see how the vodafone 850 mhz band works and i can get the vodafone 850 mhz in my area but i can't get 2.1 ghz umts 3g on vodafone or optus at leased they are upgrading there towers to 850 mhz and 900 mhz and lte 1.8 ghz and lte is alot more robust then 3g umts 2.1 ghz

I just got a mms that was sent 6 days ago just then as I had to turn my phone on and off to get reception,,, but that was not the reason I wanted to comment.
I am practically in the middle of Brisbane (Highgate Hill) and for the 3 years our company has been with vodaphone we continually get drop outs and all the time cannot get reception from the top of Highgate Hill, Go Figure.
That is not the worst of it but I have not the time to complain any more so I will change out Companies mobile phone service provider over. It's been to long and without this website I would never have bothered, thanks for giving me the jolt to do something about it, my staff have been complaining for a while now.

Came over to Brisbane and Gold Coast with 2 iphones & purchased vodafone SIMs to avoid extortionate roaming data costs. Got a great deal ( I thought the included 3 gig of data for a month) They could have offered 30 gig or 3 meg - cause data just own't work after 6:00 am till 11:00 pm. Voda NZ had similar problems in the big cities ( yes, we do have one or 2), but they appear to have fixed it. Strangely, a day trip to a very busy Byron Bay in NSW saw the phones perform flawlessly, but, the minute we were back over the QLD border, the data just kept timing out!.

Maybe you could Vodafone AU borrow some request some engineers from their Kiwi counterpart to juice up their network!.

using vodafone mobile broadband for 6 months in thornbury, northern suburbs of melbourne. Frequent disconnects (within 2mins constantly!) regular ip address conflicts (overloaded network) signal strength has never been better than 'poor' or 'very poor'. Vodafone Mobile Connect software is terribly buggy, constant RAS errors preventing reconnection until i restart the computer. Unplugging the modem and reconnecting it sometimes solves the ras errors and allows me to connect, but often the VMC software cannot find the device at all and prevents the computer from being restarted (endless loop at the Vista shutdown screen until BSOD) until i hit the reset button. Its been nothing but an exercise in frustration for months, and is the most pathetic excuse for a service i have ever encountered in the telecommunications industry. Id rather be on dialup its substantially more reliable, nuff said. My connection has dropped three times in the time its taken me to write this.

11093 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SUSPECT at 7 Jan 2011 02:19:51 PM
It seems that ever since they bought the 3 network things have really taken a dive.....
8 Jan 2011 10:45:38 AM: I agree, had network issues since 23 Sept 2010, when I couldn't connect to their network for mobile broadband. I left '3' because of their sheer arrogance, eg: cutting off my internet if I did a download at 11pm at night, accounting errors, incomprehensible call centre staff. Vodafone was fine up to that point, after that I felt that all my nightmares with '3' followed me!

11090 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Incompetent at 7 Jan 2011 02:06:37 PM
We have been receiving countless dropped calls, painfully slow mobile phone internet connection and wait times so ridiculous that you can only hang up in frustration. Not to mention a growing number of staff that are absolutely incompetent in dealing with ANY issues and that will constantly flick/transfer you to the 'right' department or just plain hang up on you. I have worked in a call centre before and I know how call stats work and the pressure the staff are put under to reduce reduce reduce their talk time which ends up with the staff just hanging up. It really is coming across as though VODAFONE is just getting too greedy by not training their staff and by downgrading their service and reception so as to lead a price war.

11082 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 7 Jan 2011 12:46:24 PM
I have not been able to use my 3G network properly for many months. I made a complaint about 6 months ago after major frustrations and just gave up and dealing with a 2nd rate service. I went into a store one day and I was advised to turn off the 3G network as it "really doesn't work well anywy". Whenever I have full bar on my 2G network I have tried to switch over to 3G and goes right back to no service. why should I have to pay full price for a service which is not meeting up to its expectations. I tried to call vodafone today and there appears to be no option for them to call back as after 10 minutes I gave up. I run my own business and sometimes I have 3 h ours of voicemail deliveries due to non delivery. I have not used visual voicemail for many months due to it not being reliable. Very very frustrating,
7 Jan 2011 02:12:15 PM: Also have been told by staff to turn off 3G which does improve the call reception but leaves you wondering whether we have just stepped back 10 years in technology and why we are paying for a 3G service we are even advised by VODAFONE doesn't work.

11081 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a load of BS at 7 Jan 2011 12:33:11 PM
i was assured i was 'smack bang in the middle' of the coverage area after raising concerns about previous coverage in my area when signing up to vodafail for the first time. i am only 5km from the brisbane CBD and i have NO SERVICE at my house, and my ability to use my alloted 2GB of data is so non-existent that on average i use about 150MB a month becuase it doesnt work at all most of the time. vodafail waved my first bill, and gave me $50 a month off until it is fixed, which i am assuming will be never. i would prefer to pay the full amount and get the service i signed up for. i would never have left telstra if i had any idea vodafone was this bad.

11079 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 2000% at 7 Jan 2011 12:26:14 PM
I went ahead with Vodafone 3G broadband, living in a major city - Brisbane, I didn't think it'd be a problem. It used to work ok and then all of a sudden one day I'd be getting 0 mb activity. It's been like that ever since Called up and complained and the issue was raised to the next level. They called me back 2 days later just to tell me that there was no coverage in the area and that I should go get a refund. In Brisbane?? Really?? Time to change to a new provider...

11078 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad at 7 Jan 2011 12:14:33 PM
After 6 years out of the country and as a former very happy vodafone customer, I decided to come back to them, what a difference a few years make, the Australian network from being in my opinion better than any I experienced overseas, is now awful, worse than some of the 3rd world countries I have lived in, what have they done in the last few years, looks like they have sacked or let go the engineers who originally, designed and built the network, maybe they have also have stopped upgrading and adding to their network, I also suspect cost cutting and a lack of investment in basic engineering services, i.e. coverage, congestion and quality, with most of the money going into selling app's that you use once and then get bored with them, leaving them with a very a very dodgy basic product for voice and data calls, after a few months and a threat of legal action from me, I managed to get out of the contract and am happy with an alternative provider

11074 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ridiculous at 7 Jan 2011 11:58:13 AM
I have 3 contracts with vodafone, none of which work correctly. I have spent over two weeks trying to get in contact with them. I asked for a call back last week which I was told would be within 48 hours. I received a call back a week and half later. She was unable to help, told me I needed to take all 3 handsets in to a Vodafone Store to be sent to their service centre to be checked. Then if they came back with no issues I would then need to get the simcards checked which would take a further 10 days to check. When I told her I thought it was ridiculous to go through that with 3 different handsets all brand new and 2 exclusive to Vodafone I asked to speak to the technical dept. She was unable to put me through due to the high number of calls (surprise surprise) I then received a call back the next day. He had no idea about the phone I had or the operating system. He was unable to help and the solution offered was to put my simcard in another handset. Even though the problem was happening in 3 different phones. He also tried to tell me that Vodafone was no long having network issues and they had all been sorted, nevermind the fact that I was on the phone to him unable to receive mms or data. I am now just be waiting for the telecommunications ombudsmen to contact me.

11072 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Horrible !!! at 7 Jan 2011 11:53:12 AM
The company itself i find helpful and friendly but the coverage is pathetic. Lately i have been able to connect but it keeps going to HSUPA or EDGE not 3g, half the time, well probably most of the time it wont load anytthing, it logs onto my home page and dosn't let me do anything from there, keeps saying diagnose connection problems etc etc, internet explorer cannot display the webpage etc etc, i am sick of trying to pay my bills online and they dont go through because service drops out in the meantime, and i'm still being charged for my time while it's not working.... grrrrr it's soooo annoying! PLease fix this darn problem now, PLeeeeeaeeassse
