Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6236 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is POOR SERVICE at 28 Dec 2010 09:17:41 AM
1. For the last 6 months I continuously get Call Failed, I call Voda and the CSC support tell me it's because it is on 3G network so they make me turn 3G off?? what's the point of having 3g technology if you cant use it?
2. Voda USB shocking unable to connect, internet drops out never have 3g coverage always HSDPA when i call Voda CSC support they tell me it is because my computer has a virus.

I am sick of calling Vodafone to get help I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them regarding my iphone not being able to recieve calls (for 8hrs) and not being able to connect to internet on the USB modem I told the person I was speaking to this is total B*** Sh*t and he swore back at me ??? where is the good old fashioned Customer Service attitude!?!?!?
I WANT TO BE APART OF THE CLASS ACTION!

I have a 8GB Pocket wi-fi- what crap reception we have constant drop outs and slow speeds. I have complained numerous times because I am meant to have a bonus 2GB giving me 10gb, they can't get it right. They then charge me for excess over 8Gb when I have 10GB. You ring them and wait over 30 - 40 mins each time to get them they say they will reverse the overcharge and still don't get it right on the bill. I had to the email them with the same complaint. After trying to ring and disgusted with the wait time of over 40 mins. NOT GOOD ENOUGH VODAFONE.

I was a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 years & never had an issue with them or their coverage until 10 mths ago. Numerous calls & emails & to Vodafone about their disgraceful coverage came with many replies that they were upgrading their network coverage. It never got any better & my phone was totally useless, calls dropping out & no coverage at all. Switched to Telstra & haven't looked back.

My mess is that im getting great coverage and my BATTERY LIFE is AMAZING! I dont know how Vodafone affects battery life but ITS RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I Was pleased to find that when i got home after the grand store opening at some stores that i was given a $100 VISA Gift card and BAG FULL OF Yo-Yos and Candy!! The biggest problem im having is my face hurting from smiling too much.
28 Dec 2010 09:49:58 AM: you are an illeterate moron. Nobody understands your pathetic paragraph.
28 Dec 2010 11:04:54 AM: Nobody understands your face!
28 Dec 2010 06:33:39 PM: Hahaha that Is gold!! U know everyone on here posting all this negative crap is a moron!!! I was with telstra for ages and their customer service was disgusting compared to vodafone.. You may have good coverage but ur treated like dirt even though u pay out of your butt.. Vodafone is fixing the network as fast as they can.. It's their number 1 priority and if any of you know anything about how much time and effort it takes to bios a network you would give the guys a chance.. It can take 12 months for significant improvements..

6224 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very at 28 Dec 2010 09:09:40 AM
Originally had a vodafone contract about 4 years ago, but changed to another carrier as they had poor reception in the Bungendore area (a small semi-rural village abut 1/2 an hour from Canberra). May 2009 resigned with Vodafone because the store advised me that full coverage is now available in the area. Very quickly realised that the coverage was not as great as promised.
Conacted the store who advised me o contact the customer service department. Vodafone refused to believe that the coverage was a problem, they said they would test the tower and my phone. They wanted me to put my sim card in another phone - which I had done and it showd that ht ecoverage was the problem and not the sim card. I haven't heard any more.
I am still paying ffor a contract that I have not used since 2009 (and connot use).

6223 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Shocking at 28 Dec 2010 09:09:25 AM
Not more than 8k from the centre of Launceston and there was no service all over the Christmas period. Travel 30k from Launceston and once again no service but this time it is a constant. Should any one be driving through Tasmania thinking they can rely on Vodafone to give them the security they may need in case of a breakdown or even worse the need of an ambulance, they should think again. The coverage just is not there unless you are within a very small distance from a major city. Yes some of the plans available are cheep but to be honest, they are on a whole (if you live in the rural area of Tasmania) a waist of money.

I'm really dissapointed as I have been with Vodafone for 12 years! I don't get voicemails until week later, my reception is poor, calls drop out all the time & I've attempted calling help lines to discuss issues & have been on hold for longer than 30mins- just to be cut off! Poor service! Very annoying & I rely on my phone for work out of hours!

To dear vodaphone if you were talking to someone on the phone and your phone constantly drops out after 1 minute on a number of occasions what would you do? Your friends had something very important to tell you but you got there message a few days later and even there voice mail ? Don't receive text messages when the person next to you sends you one ? Your phone has full service but goes strait to voice mail ? Yes the settings are all correct. Ring the customer service line and wait for a rediculas amount of time and not being racist have not much knowledge that people do work and can't go to the apple store to get phone checked I don't see what for but anyway problem not solved as you can cleary see it's a network problem not the phone, anyway vodaphone how would you deal with all this ? How would you feel? What would you do ? Do you feel as though your not a satisfied paying customer that signed a contract your following but the other party is not providing to the satisfaction of the customer ? Isn't the customer always right ? Just wondering vodaphone how would you feel regards to all this? This is just my inquiry and I can see and read the rest of complaints I beleave somewhere in your customer service policy you have a duty of care please voda could you answer me on how you have done this ? 6219 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is WTF? at 28 Dec 2010 09:07:31 AM
Like many others, I have serious reception issues, to the point where I can be sitting on my lounge, have my mobile sitting on my left, and I have reception, but if I put my phone down on my right, I have no reception. Its a distance of less than 2 feet!! I have had txt messages try and send for nearly a day, before I give up and delete them. Some days phone calls will come in, other days people trying to ring me cant get thru, all of this in my home. It all depends where my phone is in my house. Sometimes it can be as little as: is my phone on sitting on the seat of the lounge or is it sitting on the back of the lounge which decides if Im going to have reception. At work the distance between having reception or not can involve walking 3 steps and waving my phone around until it picks up a signal :( I'm in Albury. Vodafone, you suck!

My husband and I have been long suffering Vodafone customers for over a year. We are counting down the months to our freedom! I have asked them to release us from the contract, but they refuse, showing me their wonderfully fake reception/coverage map. I have the same problems like all of you, dropped calls, messages being delayed, MMS going nowhere, NIL reception in the house. They are the worst company. The govt should have the power to fine them for breach of contract with customers.

6215 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad Reception at 28 Dec 2010 09:05:58 AM
After being with Virgin for a while, I did some research to find a pre-paid plan to suit my needs and budget. I chose the Vodafone Talk&Txt plan so I unlocked my handset and activated my new Vodafone Sim card. The customer support was hopeless and I had to wait ages to get redirected and then I was told to call back tomorrow. When I finally got it all working I noticed that the reception was really bad, even in my own house where I always had full coverage with Virgin and Optus. I found that I usually don't have any reception when I'm in a building, such as a shopping centre where I need it to call my mum so that she knows where to meet me. I just hope that I don't get in an emergency one day and have to rely on my phone to get help. I also hate it how I can't send or receive picture messages, except if I use PXT which is pointless.

I signed up on a contract back in feb knowing that I was moving in the next few weeks to another area, I asked if there was service in the new area I was moving to, and was told yes, so I agreed to sign. From the moment I moved to new address, I have had no service or very little, missing important calls both work and family related. In the early stages of this problem, I contact vodafone and was told the issues would be sorted within the next month or so, that was 10 months ago. Still with an un-acceptable level of service I contacted vodafone again in December, 1st call appeox 1hr 12 mins problem un-resolved, 2nd call 1hr 40mins problem still unresolved and cut off during being tranferred, 3rd call 1hr 20 mins problem still un-resolved. I went to vodafone shop where they connected me through to cancellations promptly, cancellations offered me a $20 deduction of my last bill and a free exit when I return the handset. They havent taken into account the calls to there 1300 number as I couldn't use there mobile to access free call. When I asked where they were, as I wanted someone local ( thinking Sydney ) to deal with this issue i was told Mumbai (India), I asked to be transferred to someone local and was told they could not. As a vodafone customer for over 5 years i am thoroughly appalled by Vodafones customer service and network coverage ( both are non exsistent ). Vodafail is a very suiting name for the company and I will with out reserve point potential customers into reading this sites complaints before they sign with on the dotted line, Vodafone you have lost this loyal customer for ever, no matter how good your service may become in the future. It is your present service that has destroyed your reputation for years to come. Regards Simon

6212 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is HUGE at 28 Dec 2010 09:04:30 AM
I bought a vodafone internet stick for $89.95. If it stays connected for more than 10 minutes at a time I'm lucky. It constantly goes in and out of service. Most of the time it says that it is searching for a network. I live near a phone tower so it's not like it's hard to find service around here. I'm sick and tired of sitting here waiting for it to work. It is the slowest most crappy thing I have ever purchased. Never again would I buy anything from VODAFAIL!!!

6210 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Worst Network I Have Seen at 28 Dec 2010 09:03:51 AM
have never seen such a poor network as Vodafon- their voice & data services simply do not work. I signing a Vodafone contract six months ago. I have not been able to cancel my Optus or Telstra home phone plan, as the Vodafone network is not reliable enough to rely on. It is humiliating when calls to clients/friends drop out, or I dont get their calls/messages as your network is failing. I use my Optus phone for business and my Vodafone service for personal and other non-essential services. Using Vodafone, I have had many reliability and performance issues. These include over 100 voice drop outs, poor quality voice calls, unable to connect, poor data performance, data drop outs, unable to fine network etc, As it stands, I need to carry two phone (the reliable Optus one and the dodgy Vodafone one). I believe that Vodafone is in breach of contract as they are not providing the service I signed up for. At no time over the last six month have they provided a network that is fit for purpose or that meets the reliability I would expect of a major carrier. Their system for managing customer service is a joke. Their poorly trained service desk tells me it is a user issue - I am an IT architect of 25 year experience, ex military telecomms engineer and a IT Masters. They have no system for problem, incident, change controls or service level management. How can Govt allow them to market/sell a service that does not work?

I am one of the poor people that when the time came to renew with 3 mobile got sucked into the come over to Vodafone discussion as everyone will be under Vodafone soon. Was advised the coverage in my area is good (it isn't and depends which room I am in whether I have any bars available - one is usually cause for celebration!!). Also got billed by them for money they had received and spent the week trying to get hold of them to sort it out only to be cut off by operators twice after waiting in excess of 40 minutes to speak to someone.

I don't know about PAIN, but I recently took out a 24 month Mobile 'phone contract to provide me with two mobile phones with the special request to provide me with "GLOBAL ROAMING" on both 'phones. At first they wanted to charge me $300.00 for access to their Global Network Explaining that our previous provider didn't charge anything for this service, to which I vehemently re-arted. Finally, after getting them to listen to some logic they decided to withdraw the proposed intended charges. When in Europe recently, where we traveled through some twelve countries the Global system worked reasonably well in Singapore & London but when we got to the Europe part of our travels the System Dropped out completely and we lost any communication whatsoever. The reason we requested Global Roaming was because we needed consistent reliable access to Vodophone's "So Called Network". We wrote to our provider as soon as we arrived back in Australia to advise them of our Disappointment with their Global service. The only response we got was......."that their must have been a Network breakdown and that their was nothing that could be done to fix the problem at that time!" Not Good enough! We thought that they might in some way compensate us due to this debarcle as a means of Apologizing or saying Sorry!
It would appear that for Corporations to say sorry these days admits guilt!
I rest my case,
Sincerely,
Paul & Kathleen Holmes. ( E-m Address...kp1934@aapt.net.au

i purchased a $50 prepaid internet stick which worked fine for the first month, once i recharged though, thats when the problems began with vodafone's reception, i could not link to the internet and calling customer service was futile, i ended up taking it back to the store and getting a refund. i lost the whole 2gig recharge and over a week worth of productivity. they gave me back the purchase price of the stick but not the recharge value. im on a pension and cant afford to be RIPPED OFF FOR $30 BY A COMPANY THAT HAS MILLIONS

I was with Vodafail for over 6 years on prepaid then contract, getting no service, moved from Brisbane to Wide Bay having service when we first moved then got progressively worse, got sick and tired of being on hold, get drop outs while trying to ring them having to go through the process with lara sometime up to ten time before you got to speak with some one, not being able understand them when you finally get through to a human, let alone if you got the right department in the first place, getting transfer to the right department then dropping out and having to start the whole process again, my longest call to nowhere took over 2 hours. Every time you had a problem it would not get resolved, finally contract finish and moved to telstra, i moved 4 phones away from vodafail to telstra, cost a little more however i can actually use my phone. now I have left I get text messages to tell me that my email address to send my bill is not available, [which is a Bigpond email address and is still active] telling me to log on to my account [which I don't have anymore] and change email address, trying to email them is about it is still on going for a month now, receive the bill with a credit of $70+ trying to get it credited to my credit card which use to pay the bill, still waiting for a reply on that one, I am not even with them and still having issues.

my daughter is with 3 since vodafail took over she gets no service from just north of central Brisbane past wide bay previously she got service all the way.

to think that Vodafail forced the government to get rid of the analogue system or they would not bring there digital network in.

6200 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is EPIC Failure at 28 Dec 2010 08:59:00 AM
We have two phones with VodaFAIL and your can't rely on getting a phone call or message as the call is diverted straight to voicemail (even with full signal strenght).
Having a new baby that is starting child care is a concern as we can't be guaranteed to get the call incase of an emergency.
Vodafail Support intructs to reset the network connection every time, but this doesn't last long before the phone is in operatable. Data access is a hit and miss. The only way we have found to get coverage is to make a call from the handset. Unfortunately this dosen't work if someone wants to call my phone as it diverts to voicemail. Shame VodaFAIL,Shame.
What have we paid for, not this I can assure you, Will Vodafail break handset contracts so customers can go to a supplier that can deliver???.

Hey, Glad I saw this site as I was considering Vodafone's new infinity plan but maybe I'll wait now.

Just FYI, Telstra is not much better. Have been with them for some time just because they had a plan I was happy with, but their coverage is very patchy, even in the city (Perth) and worse in the country (Busselton). I continue to receive messages a day or so after (the record is 3 days after the message was sent). Incidentally this happens on all 3 mobile phones we have in the family (all different makes).

Bashing Vodafone is perfect for the likes of Telstra who can sit back and pick up customers and then continue to give shoddy service as they have been for some time.
28 Dec 2010 09:00:28 AM: I've just ported to Telstra. For the record, the service has been brilliant to date.
But thanks again Vodafone social media team for your input.

My hubby and I moved from VIC to WA and were recommended to change carriers as the one we were previously with were predominantly for City use so we changed to Vodafone and we can't even get reception at our house, which is in a residential area, i have to walk out to the street, where there's no buildings, trees etc. to try and get a phonecall or send a text Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!! We strongly recommend that you do not go ahead with the purchase however if you have already paid for this item but haven't received it, you need to act quickly to get your money back.Luckily hubby's got a work mobile and we use the landline at home but what a waste of 2 x contracts :(

6193 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Getting Worse at 28 Dec 2010 08:56:28 AM
Hi, I've been with Vodafone for over 10 years. I have always been quite happy with them until the last 3 years. Generally their support has been good but i increasingly seem to come across certain support staff that think they have a license to to be rude or dismiss my issues without even listening. This has been a recent thing.
NOW!! The network is total crap. It took me 30 mins to log into my bank (nab) and do a fund transfer last night. Remarkably i was in the city which made it more frustrating. I've always accepted that Vodafone don't get coverage in certain areas. As it only affected me a few times (one example Dalesford) i haven't been too concerned about it.
FOR ME THE HUGE ISSUES IS THE FACT THAT DATA IS VERY SLOW AND CAN HANG! IT'S FRUSTRATING TO USE AND THEY KEEP BLAMING MY IPHONE 3GS WHEN I CALL THEM WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. I'M NOW INFRURIATED BY THEM.
SECONDLY, SINCE OWNING THE IPHONE MY RECEPTION HAS BECOME WORSE. IT IS RARE THAT I HAVE FULL BARS IN THE CENTRE OF MELBOURNE.

AFTER 10 YEARS I'M STARTING TO GET FED UP WITH THESE GUYS.

my calls drop out every single day and on average twice per call if call is longer than 3 minutes. incoming calls go straight to voicemail even though phone signal bar indicates adequate signal coverage. i have been expecting calls only to have my voice mail call me with messages left due to not being connected. this is so consistent that i purchased a telstra prepaid to use when signal is too poor. i even call my voda number with the signal bar displaying fair to good sighnal just to be diverted to my voicemail. this is not limited to the phone i use, i have 4 brands of phones (3 spare phones) iphone3gs, nokia n97mini, samasung galaxy and motorola razor and there is no difference between them except the nokia is a little less reliable. Never Again will i use vodafone when contract expires! EVER!!!!

6189 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is as useful as used toilet paper at 28 Dec 2010 08:52:56 AM
I only read about this site yesterday - I'm so pleased I'm not alone in my suffering with non mobile service for last 18 months. I'm on an unlimited plan - yeah, unlimited excuses and lack of service!!

I've had 7 replacement Blackberry's in 18 months - even got some from Optus just in case a couldn't believe the luck I was having!!

A typical call scenario example - from Melbourne CBD to home (my Blackberry Bold doesn't even get coverage in my office in Collins Street city!!). Sadly, I can pick the dropout spots and zones in Central Melbourne and East Melbourne - if it wasn't so farcical, we could make a new competition out of this - 1st prize.....Voda Mobile Contract paid out and a free Contract given from Telstra (now THAT's sad)

1. call business owner from car parked in central business district (Queen Street)
2. get the infamous "call failed" and loud beeping noise as call drops off in Market Street. I call back
3. Apologise for call drop off but everyone is used to my mobile calls dropping out (you must be with Vodafone or Three many people say)
4. Call drops off in Spencer Street North Melbourne (sometimes with excitement I see a different fail message "Congestion" - woohoo, this is a different sort of irritating excitement). Wait for 2 km's as reception comes good again. Call back (seeing I'm on "unlimited plan" I supposedly don't wear costs!)
5. Get onto Tulla Freeway...
6. Call drops off beside Moonee Valley - smack bang in the middle of a costly work conversation. Just for something different......I call back when I see the 3G connection (hands free of course Mr Constabulary)
7. Call back - warn them I'm approaching Essendon airport - another "hot zone". Call drops out mid sentence - DAMN, it got me early before Bell Street turnoff!!
8. Wait till Matthews Avenue to call back - should get a good 2 minutes into conversation before I'm talking to myself again....sometimes phone drops off without any sound...so I keep talking to myself not knowing the other end has dropped off!!
9. Melbourne airport.....(I live in Sunbury....lucky I have a landline cause I certainly can't count on mobile here) - yep, bye bye reception......
10. Well you get the gist......it's become quite a topic of conversation with business people and friends who laugh at how comical my mobile experiences are....

The only efficient service operating from Vodafone are from the Accounts Department - "Your account is now due".....

Would gladly add my call records to any action against this now pathetic mobile service provider - can't believe I just called them that!

After 3 months of poor data speeds, very limited reception (lower north shore of Sydney)and call drop outs, I finally pulled the plug on Vodafone after a formal complaint to the TIO. Even after I cancelled my contract and ported to another carrier, I received a call from Vodafone advising the network issues had been resolved! Yeah right!!! The rest of my family are on Vodafone and needless to say I know they are having the same issues...All I can say is Vodafone really need to lift their game, and please, please, please, move your customer service team back to Australia!!!

a few months back i decided to upgrade my mobile broadband and went out and bought vodafone (was previously using 3). i used vodafone before and had no problems, so i did the usual, checked the coverage area and according to that i had perfect coverage, but couldnt log in to even register let alone get online. so i contacted vodafone and suprise suprise they didnt believe me so they registered me over the phone. continual problems so i went into one of the vodafone shops and guess what... i get told that networks will be disrupted during the combining of the vodafone and 3 networks, ok they claimed its only meant to be temporary and only during office hours. so i returned back to using my 3 mobile broadband, now since the towers and networks have been combined, i have more problems then before. My net drops out on average every 5 minutes and what's worse between the hours of 5pm -7pm daily, i cant make phone calls, my phone shows full signal yet it tells me "no network coverage". now i use prepaid and cant get any compensation for my problems, so i hope you guys get everything back and more.

I have crap reception pretty much everywhere except when standing near a phone tower. I don't receive text or email until 3 or 4 hours after the other person has sent them and in some cases not at all and when i had a problem with my bill it took me about 5 calls and about 3 months to their call center to fix the problem. So frustrating!!!

I have complained to vodafone many times about echo in the phone, not just slight echo, huge echo, I hear myself talk perfectly the second time, also the people
I ring say they hear the echo too and it puts them off talking to me and finish the call quickly. Vodafone say to me, it's your phone get a new one, but it happens on all phones. When I visit Bellingen I get nill coverage, so I am unable to call anyone, not even 000 if needed.

In early December I bought my father a mobile broadband modem & sim card and first months data, and even thought the Vodafone website says he lives in a good coverage area, he simply cannot connect to the internet - just the same message "no connection available". I know it is only pre-paid internet, but will they extend the monthly expiry date - no. Massive waste of money for me.

6173 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:49 AM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!

6170 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:17 AM
Firstly when I was going over my cap they failed to contact me and let me know. So they ended up barring my phone. When they sent me an sms telling me to contact this number from my mobile I couldn't as they had barred my phone. When I call up to complain I get someone from "over seas" who can not understand a complete word I was saying, which pissed me off even more. When my bill had been sorted out I waited on hold to Vodafone for over an hour and got a very rude guy who also I could not understand nor could he speak english very well. He was no help at all and was quite rude. After talking to him for half an hour he told me he would transfer my call over to the billing department. He did so and he put me onto the wrong line. A waste of time on my part.
After sorting it all out in the morning my battery now fails. Doesn't stay charged for very long at all, and I find it hard to get reception. It goes completely out of service in areas it shouldn't be.
Not very happy at all, I will be looking into how much it cost's me to get out of my plan and switching to another phone company.

Signed up with '3' a year ago. Early teething problems but got over it. Then Vodaphone took over 3 and they didnt even bother to tell us, their valuable customers-no email, no nothing. I had a period of 4 days just after Vodafail took them over, where I had no service at all, but didnt realise that I was missing so many calls, mostly work related.
Since then its been excessive bills, dropouts, areas in Australia'a biggest city, Sydney, which have NO coverage!! This is the 21st century. I had a better mobile phone service in the 90's. I still have another year with these losers. How do I get out of it, but even more so, how do I find a decent Australian mobile phone providor- they're all crap. And believe me, I've tried them all.

Since September, I have called costumer service a few times and am still waiting for replies. After moving to a new town and finding I had absolutely NO coverage, I wanted to see if they would put me on a smaller monthly plan whilst I was still paying the phone off. I refuse to pay $80 per month for something they cannot provide - though I am willing to continue to pay for the phone. As no-one appears to want to discuss it with me, I'm not paying them anything until they do, which unfortunately will hurt me than it will them. The lady who works at the store I brought the phone from said the same thing happened to her, and they gave her $5 a month off her plan price! What a joke.

I have been with Vodaphone for many years and was completely happy with the service. Over the last 18 months however they are just the most disgusting service. Staff are rude, you spend many hours trying to speak with someone. I have been hung up on.

My phone doesn't work, my coverage is crap. I can't get any calls, or I don't receive calls. I get text messages hours after they are sent. I can't pay my bill over the phone, I cannot access my internet account, so I am told to go to the Post Office - would prefer if they fixed it after all I am paying for the service. I have now refused to pay my bill until something is done to my satisfaction...............3 months later................nil contact!!!!

I wanted to reduce my plan as I no longer need the plan I am on. I was told I was contracted to that plan............that's not what I was told when I upgraded and has never been the case before.

Here in the hilly suburb of Mount Waverley, i constantly have no 3G service meaning i cannot access mobile internet which makes my smartphone next to useless. I have told 3 this (i am a 3 customer), but all they do is open a map of their network coverage on the 3 website and say that i do have reception according to the map, therefore pretty much calling me a liar. Yesterday going to the MCG, i lost reception at Richmond of all places. Losing reception and waiting ten minutes for the phone to find it again is all too common, even in the Melbourne CBD. My GF's problems are much worse also. Not only did she get sold a dodgy N97 which 3 say is fine, i cant even talk to her on the phone anymore as it will just drop out no matter where we are.

I cannot take calls from my house at all as they always drop out, my friends don't ring me on my moblie anymore as they know it drops out. I always have to ring them back from my home phone. But to make it worse I got a phone whilst in NZ and it has international roaming through Telstra and it has full reception at my home. The phone also drops out in the city and I nearly missed a job interview because of this, do they do this so people call back and have to leave a message so we all have to get our messages, as they get money for this. When my son tells me what is wrong with your phone as it always drops out, well only another 18mths left on contract and I will be seeing how much to pay out as this phone is costing me..

6140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They are an embarassment, a disgrace and an insult at 28 Dec 2010 08:26:22 AM
I have been having problems with vodafone coverage on my iPhone for over two years.

In Sept (2010) I became aware that I was unable to send email from my phone. Since then I have spent literally hours waiting to get through to so called customer service. The wait was never less than 50 minutes and on one occasion I held out for one hour and fifty. The excuse was always the same - external ISP's were blocking the vodafone outgoing server because of a spam issue! A vodafone technical rep told me on one occasion that the problem was affecting approx 40% of the vodafone customer base. (Wouldn't you think that would be sufficient enough to go public on the matter and let people know there was an issue - if for no other reason than to put additional pressure on the alleged ISP's?) But not vodafone. Sweep it under the carpet and tell people all will be fixed up in a 'few days'! What a joke!

After weeks of this 'service' and leaving messages for someone from Customer Service to call me I contacted the TIO. At least that got a response but (irony or ironies) due to poor coverage everytime someone called me the call dropped out! However, when I did manage to call back immediately on the number that came up on my mobile I got a message to the effect of 'this person is not taking voice messages' or we cannot take your call right now please call back later'. As I said, 'customer service'!!!

In the midst of all this I got a letter from the vodafone Resolutions Team saying they had tried to contact me and if I didn't contact them by the 18th Dec they would consider my complaint resolved. Rich or what. I promptly replied saying if I hadn't heard from them by the 18th Dec I would take it they were accepting my position that they were in breach of their contractual duties and they were accepting that I was released from my contract with no further payments required.

LAst week I finally managed to get a call from a gentleman at their Resolutions Team who offered to release me from my contract but asked me to pay $600 in order to be able to keep the iPhone. I refused and put the proposition that as a good will gesture for the disgraceful service, time lost, disruption etc they should cancel the contract and offer the phone as a good will gesture. The person I spoke to was talk to his supervisor and get back to me. I'm still waiting.

In short, vodafone is a disgrace as a national carrier, an embarassment to the telecommunications industry and an insult to its customers.

I will be contacting the legal firm considering the class action and making all my records - dates, times, mobile numbers for vodafone staff as well as copies of all my correspondence with both vodafone and the TIO available to support the action.

It is great to see this web site and congratulations to those involved. I considered setting one up myself at one point but opted instead to try and raise the issue through some other channels, including Talk Back radio but without any success.

I am happy to be involved in any future activities on this matter and vodafone in general because 'service' of this 'quality' should not be kept a secret!

Rgds

Jordan
28 Dec 2010 09:51:22 AM: Jordan - what was the outcome of your TIO complaint?
28 Dec 2010 07:21:48 PM: They have given Vodafone 20 days to respond to my follow up compliant about missed / dropped calls from their Resolution Team and the fact that I could not get through to the numbers those calls came from. My complaint has been escalated to a Level 2 complaint. I am happy with the TIO's response. At least it got vodafone act. I should have mentioned above that vodafone has been aware of the outgoing email issue since August. As per my post above I expect vodafone to release me from my contract (I've been with them ten years), waive outstanding bills and I will now galdly return the iPhone. I'll keep you briefed.

I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years now but always on pre-paid until recently. When I got my new mobile on a contract I had problems with the phone not connecting to the computer to be able to update the software and was told by vodafone there was nothing that could be done as it was obviously a phone error.

Have recently returned from overseas but had my plan set up for roaming while away. While awau I received between 2 - 6 messages a day from vodafone to tell me I was in the UK. Approximatly 30 messages in total. Since being home my coverage has been really poor. Reception dropping in and out while sitting in my lounge room (have never had a problem here before now), loosing my 3G and not getting voicemail messages till the next day.

Am really disappointed that vodafone has become so un-reliable as have never had a problem with them in the past.

I have been with Vodafone for approx. 6 months living in Sydney, the reception wasn't great and there where a lot of dropped calls. It was frustrating but bearable. I have now moved to Woody Point in QLD and the reception is beyond ridiculous!! NOTE THAT WOODY POINT IS NOT IN THE COUNTRY OR WHOOP WHOOP.... IT IS IN REDCLIFFE 30KM NORTH OF THE BRISBANE CBD IN A VERY BUILT UP AREA.

I have a problem with about 80% to 90% of calls. If I am lucky enough for a call to connect the reception frequently dropps out and I need to confirm what has been said.

Ofter my phone will show me 2-4 bars but when I try and call the phone simply won't connect AT ALL!! I then need to put the phone into flight mode, then back so it re-connects to the network and then it will connect.. but not always.

Often the phone shows as being connected to the network but no calls and sms come through. Callers go straight to voicemail.

At times SMS's won't send and I have to retry about 3-6 times for successful transmission.

I need my phone for business and this low level of service is just not acceptable. In my apartment the phone is barely usable.

FUNNY THOUGH I ALSO HAVE A VODAFONE MOBILE INTERNET STICK AND IT WORKS FINE!!???!!!! NOT A NETWORK ISSUE???????????????? DATA WORKS BUT VOICE DOESNT!!!!!!???????????? PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!

We just left voda phone (three) because of poor coverage for over 10 years only it seemed to get worse not better particularly in the last few months.

We also more recently had major issues with multiple text sending. The same text would be received by the one person several times. Each time would be charged. We complained for several months and the process was terrible. Not only did voda phone (three) fail to fix the problem, but communication was horrendous. On hold each time for nearly an hour, English as a second language issues, patronizing frustrating customer service methods and receiving a bill for cancellation after been told we wouldn't. Never again.

My USB stick rarely works and my iPhone performance is very disappointing on the web - Vodafone's technical support is laughable and when I couldn't get any email/web coverage at all (twice - once for 3 days and once for 2 in the last year) they even denied there was a problem! Funny though, how they added credit card charges when they wanted to and there was nothing we customers could do about it and they can afford to pour multi-millions into sports sponsorship eg cricket and motor racing.

6124 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is RADIATION. at 28 Dec 2010 08:16:08 AM
Voda is terrible. The reception has gone down the drain. But people also need to think about radiation and how it affects society. Radiation from when you send a message or call someone it tremendous!

If you just put a phone to your ear when you are calling someone, the radiation travels through your body and mainly head which causes brain tumors. What I have done to minimize the radiation travelling through me is I use loudspeaker whenever there is a call coming through.

I thought you could just get a headset and use it whenever a call is coming through. But that is actually worse because the radiation travels through the wire, into your ear (presumably causing a brain tumor).

But now, there is a solution to all of this... there is a type of headset called an 'air-tube'. So you connect this to your phone like any normal headset. But half the wire is electronic and has radiation, but the half coming going into your ear is air along with the sound that travels through the air tube.

That is a good solution, as it has no radiation so you are safe whenever you receive a phone call.

Although, don't leave your phone in your pocket because the radiation travels through it to your body. With some more advanced phones, you can go to settings and profile (Silent, Loud, Normal, Meeting etc.), it then comes up with 'Offline', which means no radiation is going to your phone. But on the downside you can't receive any messages or phone calls.

I think the best thing to do is to turn your phone off as much as possibly, so the radiation doesn't travel through you.

Hope this helps.
28 Dec 2010 08:46:13 AM: It seems Vodabone are doing their best to reduce radiation levels overall!
28 Dec 2010 10:05:52 AM: thats probably why you don't have any reception n00b... Offline mode, great idea

I have noticed a reduction in reliability of the network since they released 3G in the Hobart area and surrounding suburbs. I work in Glenorchy, very lucky to get a 3g signal (1 to 2 bars at most) and 3g internet pretty much will not work. I live at Oakdowns near Rokeby, 3g pretty much non existent (i can see cell towers (not sure whose) and a clear line of sight to the mountain (if that helps)) but no useful signal on my mobile. I have their wireless broadband modem that will only get max 2 bars reception on 3g but extremely slow data speeds. My mobile is high end (is more than quadband too i think)but for it to operate properly i have to set it to EDGE (reliable and faster data speed than 3g/HSDPA for me). Quite often SMS messages are not sent or received and my partner (on Pre-Paid Vodafone)her messages send multiple times (sometimes send 6 or 7 times!!!) My Telstra wireless Broadband modem work flawlessly most of the time. Will be considering moving to Telstra at end of contract due to terrible service of late (I have been with Vodafone since mid to late 90's).

Thought mobile internet plan would be useful to me, signed up for Vodaphone based on price and promised coverage at home in Cairns. After using for a short time realised that service was next to useless, often unable to connect, when connected speed slower than dial up (event though advertised as 'broadband'). I repeatedly complained by phone, at the third party supplier, and in-person at Vodaphone office over a period of six-moths. Eventually, the vodaphone telephone agent agreed that I send my unit back and they would cancel my contract, now with another provider and connectivity and speed far better (event hough not perfect). Vodaphone experience cost time, stress, money on calls/visits to Vodaphone, and visits to internet cafe to send/receive important emails. Never again.

6116 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is vodafone not for business, not for anyone at 28 Dec 2010 08:10:58 AM
I used to work for 3 mobile and then vodafone and I know the network is not up to scratch, everytime I used a vodafone trial service I had no service in most buildings or houses and I stared to get loads of complaints from customers I sold to, if you are a 3 customer vodafone will want you to transfer to vodafone in the next 15 to 24 months as the 3 network is finishing up, my advice is to not ever go to the vodafone network , it is a cheap version of what a proper network should be like and you will have nothing but service issues, optus and telstra are the only proper networks in Australia so try them instead, even when I had a free Vodafone service from my ex employee u always had my own simcard with another carrier as I knew the vodafone one would not work in most places, most employees widely know the vodafone network is not good so I feel for them as they have to sell this bad product to keep their jobs.

6114 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very very poor at 28 Dec 2010 08:10:22 AM
My wife and I purchased a vodafone mobile each after some heated debate with Telstra,
We were informed that vodafone would work at our house, we got home charged our phone and all looked great until we tried to make our first phone call after about 2 words it dropped out and we now have very little coverage if any at our house which has made things very difficult as we have 2 young children and who knows when you will need to make an emergency phone call.
It all has been a very costly exercise and one we will not be doing again

yeah 2 things here - not only the constant drop outs but on christmas eve when the service went completly bung up - i was in a minor car accident and need to call my spouse but couldn't - very distressing not being able to get help!

and their mobile internet is a SHAM! - i was smart ... i checked the coverage maps before i brought the device and where my house is its definatley in the 3g coverage area casue i have a damn antenna 0.5km away on the hill behind me, you can even see it from my window - but i could barley ever get a 3g signal and if i did it was terribly unreliable making me have to get on their 'EDGE' network wich is slower then dialup speeds - after numerous complaints they said the area i was in was a known black spot even though the advertise it as 3G coverage and pretty much told me id have to go with someone else - so i went with telstra - no problems now!
28 Dec 2010 08:24:12 AM: Sorry double post!
28 Dec 2010 10:47:39 AM: Same here for me, most definitely within good reception range (according to Vodafone's maps) 3g and mobile internet pretty much no go! Argh... You would also think that Glenorchy, major major population area just outside Hobart would have decent 3g, nope!
28 Dec 2010 05:57:38 PM: Intriguing as i sit in Glenorchy on my Mobile Broadband working perfectly, and has done for the last 2c years... I wonder if you have taken the initative to call and get them to check things out for you ?
Very easy to jump on the bandwagon and say "me too.." but a common trend of a lot of these posts is no one actually doing anything about it !
Ring or email them and see if they will help, If not then at least you have something to winge about !

My husband and i have contracts with 3 who were bought out by Vodaphone. We left Vodaphone to go to 3. We have bad reception and at times cant here each other in metro Adelaide. Our phones also drop out on occasion. Its the biggest backward step for a telco since mobiles were invented. As soon as our contracts are up we will be changing over for good. Very disappointed.

6101 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Reception, Internet and messaging at 28 Dec 2010 08:03:55 AM
I have been with vodafail now for 3 years. The first 2 year contract went well without any issues, now it's a different story. I convinced about 6 other people from my family to join vodafail due to my pleasant initial experiences with them. Since then my brother has cancelled his voda contract and gone back to telstra. My parents will be going elsewhere when their contract finishes due to buzzing noises coming from their nokia handset which vodafail couldn't resolve. My wife and I will be terminating our contracts during the middle of 2011 due to bad reception issues, calls going straight to voicemail and not being able to call anyone even with supposed full coverage. I had major issues with my iPhone approx 2 months ago where I couldn't access email and safari, vodafail refused to help. I have had huge bills for my mobile broadband as the USB stick was giving incorrect data usage information. I hope class action comes of this as I will be making our small protest against vodafails pathetic coverage and service issues. We are awaiting our contracts to finish mid next year or before if I take it to the ombudsman. Vodafail... You have lost about 6 customers and soon to lose a further two due to your incompetence.

6100 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is DISGUISTED! at 28 Dec 2010 08:02:55 AM
Well in total, I have called Vodafone over 5 times, in which all calls lasted atleast half an hour. Firstly the reception on my phone. I am in an area where there is 100% reception, I should be able to use 3G right, however I can only use 2G and there is no cure according to Vodafone Technical Support. I own a blackberry so I use my phone for my business also, and I have actually lost out in profit because people are unable to contact me when i am in this frequent area where there should be reception but isnt. I've got a bill for over $1000, and half of the time, I couldn't even use the phone. I also get random texts that are telling me to pay my bill, when I already have. One day i actually spent 3 hours on the phone to someone, i couldnt even understand that well, who wouldnt let me talk to a supervisor. This is just a glimpse. But as of late Vodafone is a FAIL, and I'm NOT happy!! I'm glad that I'm not the only one in this situation, there really is a problem, and im not going to accept the slight apology from Vodafone Customer service officers as enough anymore!

6099 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst network coverage ever at 28 Dec 2010 08:00:28 AM
i have 2 accounts with vodafone and both always drop out, cant sent messages or anything.
The only way i have been able to get incontact with vodafone was by email, because i tried by phone and no one could help me, i went to vodafone shops and same problem no one can help me.
Finally after a dozen emails back and forth to vodafone they agreed to give me 3 months free.
But still this didnt fix my problem with no network coverage.
I have kep all their emails and i will be planing to take further action about the problem after January 10th , as in my emails it states that everything will be fixed by that date!

6098 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Coverage at 28 Dec 2010 07:59:58 AM
I'm in Perth metro area and my phone constantly drops out. It is easier to use the house phone, which actually costs me more as a lot of the numbers I call are STD or mobiles. Then there is the problem receiving text messages. For example all my birthday text message I received all at once 6pm the next day and this morning (29/12/10) at 4pm I received a message that was sent on boxing. I also lost 3 days of messages. I have been into Vodafone about these problems and I'm told it's not them it must be my sim card which has been replaced and nothing has changed.

6091 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is continual wireless internet drop outs, conitnual 'no device' mesgs, mobile explosive phone bills, aggravating system of automatic 'service selection options' when needing assitance or making complaints at 28 Dec 2010 07:57:25 AM
I unfortunately took out a 2 year contract (wireless internet and mobile phone) and regretted it immediately. Having been told I was in an area of very good wireless reception, I found this not to be the case at all. The Nokia phone was a dud and when sent off for checking for poor battery life and heating up, I was told it had water damage! - must be from the Qld atmosphere. When attempting to go on line, more often than not the computer states there is no device. Eventually it is recognised and I get on line, frequently to have the line drop out. This service has been unreliable, which is unsettling when you have deadlines to meet in submitting work online. This has been an atrocious system, and I am glad to say that next month the two year contract is finished and I will be switching to another service provider.

6089 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Wanna punch some joker level of fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:57:12 AM
I have a voda pre-paid phone and internet dongle, so will have my bit to say about both.

The dongle: Now what can i say about service here. started off good, and seemed like a good plan, started doing a online course, then a few weeks (september) into it the connection seemed like it would rival dial up for slowest speed ever and got to the point i couldn't even get to do my course material, so i had to defer for the rest of the semester or get a fail grading, unfortunately this happened after the census date (which means now i have to pay for 2 units which i didn't even get to do). I tried calling customer help, which when i eventually got around to being able to talk to them, told me that i was in a bad reception area, total crap as it had been working good before that.

The phone is a different problem where i see if you get told you are getting vodafone to vodafone credits, then you should be able to contact other vodafone users, does that sound right to you? WRONG, after using standard credit, i couldn't contact anyone much less anyone i knew who has a vodafone account. Secondly, is that with txt messaging, sometimes the messages i get aren't coming thru and some messages i send aren't getting to the person i sent them too. i'm not gonna get into describing the shit that has caused as it would take all day to type.
28 Dec 2010 10:02:28 AM: Were you one wireless? A fault may have developed in one of the towers in your area or there may be overselling. When you buy wireless vodafail you are told about coverage - but there is no mention of connectivity or congestion.

For some ISPS there are plans where if you exceed your download you are not chargedmore, they slow your connection. So it is apparent that some ISPS have control over the speed of connection. As a general technical question, if an ISP were to oversell its wireless service, would a deliberate dropping of the speed of connection of customers enable them to keep more people on line? Even though their connection speed was much reduced.

The rest of the time I'm constantly getting dropped out. Have to say you get much better reception in country areas of third world countries I've been to than North Sydney CBD. Also Ive just got my bill for the month and my $69 capped bill came in at $180! Ive been trying to speak to Vodaphone for days about it but to no avail.

Gave up complaining to Vodafone months ago. My problem is the mobile broadband coverage. I have been with them for nearly 3yrs and funny enough, i am going to the shops today to find another provider. For the past 18mths i barely get access to the net in 3 houses that i have lived in during that time and i am metro Brisbane. Calling them is a nightmare, i either get hung up on or im on hold for an hour. Who has time to sit on a phone calling them for an hour to only have them transfer you through to someone else and then someone else and then get hung up on in between. AARRRGGHHH! Over them completely. I have been a loyal vodafone customer for over 15yrs and once my mobile comes out of contract in 2mths i will be moving to someone else - both my mobile and internet (including my husbands, parents and sisters). I have two phones: one for work and one for personal use. One's with 3 and the other, Vodafone. I find when one drops out of service - so does the other. Funny that? In fact, there are certain blackspots around Sydney where there's absolutely no reception: the M5 east tunnel, M7 - between Horsley and Elizabeth Drive, and my house. So what do I do... call from a land line. Otherwise, there's no point blasting one service provider when the others are the same...
28 Dec 2010 08:53:12 AM: Since their merge, 3 and Vodafone are sharing the same backhaul and switching systems hence the cause. Besides, the merge looks more like a takeover by vodafone to me

Recently aquired new HTC Desire HD on vodafone. I am a long time vodafone customer and have never had much of a reason to complain before. However the data speed is shocking...it takes quite a while for web pages to completely load, (if i actually let it load and don't kill the internet app). Most of the times i just give up and have to connect it to my wireless home network to get any decent speed out of it. Now I'm stuck with this non-service for the next 2 years...

Quite a few months back I called vodafone to to them about my lack of reception and ability to use my data allowance. I was told to simply reset the Internet on my phone and it would fit it. Now it all makes sense. At first I honestly thought it was only my phone. In places where I was once able to use my Internet and send messages, I now cannot. I have to walk outside into my street in order to make phone calls and use my Internet. In times when I need to use important sites such as my Internet banking, again, I now cannot. The problem has only recently gotten worse as not even will my data work. This has angered me deeply as I pay top dollar for my plan and what infuriates me the most is the fact that my bills have heavily increased due to having to communicate via phone all the time rather than via the Internet. My phone bills are double what they should be and I am ready to cut off my plan. Getting through to speaking to an actual person at vodafone is a long and frustrating process, that is of course, when my phone does not drop out. Compensation should be given for such appalling service by this comapany. If my phone actually allows me to post this message, I will be utterly shocked.

Vodafone is now a 3rd rate network. They used to be great but they seem to have lost the plot. They went from atrocious in the early nineties to somewhat reasonable in later years but they seem to have gone back to their old appalling
Ways. Frequent drop-outs, slow internet or no internet. Supposed to be 3G area but phone switches to EDGE or GPRS frequently. On 3G signal is mostly very low - 1 bar on signal meter. Contacting customer service is torturous. This is a Brisbane inner north suburb in close proximity to the airport.

Its a terrible network:
- Boxing Day @ the MCG, the Ashes series sponsored by VODAFONE, I had 'No Service' for about 4 hours
- Inbound calls go straight to voicemail when I appear to have full reception
- Voicemail messages taking hours to appear. At least that is better than 6 months ago when you didn't get any notification at all about voicemails
- Overseas - I've been to the UK, Singapore, Mauritius and Argentina in the past 16 months (with International roaming confirmed prior to departure) and each time my phone either hasn't worked properly or I've had 'No Service' despite my partners Telstra phone having no issues. Costly landline calls to "Lara" to resolve or lengthy email correspondence with sometimes no resolution.
- Internet access often not working as 'can't connect to server'
If I wasn't locked in for two years I would have left a long time ago.

I was originally with 3 and then it got taken over by Vodafone and this was the time I renewed my contract for two years. Since renewing with 3 under the Vodafone header and products I had consistent call drop outs. I could literally have my phone sitting on a table in front of me and watch the bar signals go up and down and then the call would drop out. This was consistent! At the time 3 Vodafone told me I am in a good coverage area. December 2010 I went in to look at finding a new plan to discover that I was now living in a bad coverage area... To this fact I found out that Vodafone was not going to be improving its 3 products anymore thus the coverage was only going to get worse. To this I discovered that they were going to 'migrate' me over to Vodafone in two days time without me knowing! Furthermore, if I wanted to do it that day before my next billing cycle they were going to charge me $45 flat rate for the 2 days + another $45 to have payments in advance + my $45 cap for that month. I could had avoided those fees if I waited 2 days and went in on my time whilst I should be at work or I would had been migrated over on the current plan with no fees. I had been a 3 Vodafone customer for 7 years and I asked them to give me a reason to stay with them.... they replied with, why should you leave? Optus won me over... 3 Vodafone then tried to stop me going to Optus by only discharging me from their network after 2 business days - if they waited a few more hours they would had charged me an extra $69 as it would had entered my new billing period! NEVER going 3 Vodafone AGAIN!

6055 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not real good for coverage at 28 Dec 2010 07:44:57 AM
We live just North of Maryborough and the reception here is very marginal. Sometimes we have one bar of reception outside the house in selected areas around the house, but nothing inside the house. Try to carry on a conversation and it's subject to poor quality reception and dropped calls. If it's raining, forget about it totally, there is no reception.

We ended up having to get a Virgin Mobile phone (which uses the Optus Network) just to receive calls at home. Even with the Virgin Mobile, the phone only works outside the house, so this is a real telecommunications black spot here.

However, on the plus side of things, we have five mobile phones with Vodafone and we are on the 365 day value bundle, so we only recharge once a year with $20 or $30 and we can ring each other for free using Vodafone minutes. We don't make that many outside calls and it's mainly for family contact that we have the Vodafone phones. We can still usually get text messages through at times when the reception comes on. The signal switches between about three towers as we are at the fringe reception of the three.

Has anyone ever heard of Ogmore? It is a small community around 17 km off the highway about two hours North of Rockhampton with a population of around 20 - 30 people. Funny thing is that the only decent mobile phone reception there is with Vodafone and my daughter's brand new phone works fantastically there, but it won't work at all here at home. Our Virgin Mobile phone on the Optus Network won't work at all at Ogmore and our friend's Telstra mobile is about as useful there as our Vodafone Mobile is here.

We'd be really happy with Vodafone if we had decent reception here. We usually deal with the store in Hervey Bay and find the staff to be friendly and polite.

Please Vodafone, put in another tower to cover this black spot and we'll be very happy.
