Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

452 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst service provider ever at 17 Dec 2010 04:30:12 PM
What is going on with their service (lack of)???? For the last 3-4 months, I have been experiencing 'unable to connect' messages when I am literally standing on the street in Sydney CBD. If you can't get reception in the heart of Sydney, where else are you going to be able to use your phone???? My latest phone bill was $500 - when I enquired why it was so high, the service rep told me alot of it was due to voicemail. What do you expect when for the last few months, my phone doesn't connect when people try to call through and are automatically switched over to voicemail....??? Not only that, messages (both voice and text) can be delayed for hours. Calls drop-out so I am constantly calling people back. My husband who is also on Vodafone contract has been experiencing the exact same problems. What a joke!

450 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worse customer support EVER! at 17 Dec 2010 04:27:26 PM
I've been dealing with VodaFAIL's customer support for the past 2 months. All started when i was in Spain and i got a text message saying that my bill has reached $850 and i need to pay or call them asap or my account will be suspended. Tried calling them but got a closed of business hours. I received the same message at least 5 times a day. Then i get a call from someone (in the middle of the night) telling me i need to pay my bill knowing that i had Intl roaming on. Then when i got my phone stolen, i had to buy an international phone card to call customer care but was on hold for 1hr, until my card ran out of credits. Asked my sister in OZ to call on my behalf, but she was on hold for 1hr and gave up. Returned to OZ and tried calling customer care again, was on hold for 1hr15mins until it hung out. Emailed support centre to ask for somebody to call me but was told they can't do that coz it's against policy...yet they didn't have any issues with calling me in Spain and making me pay!!! After my complaint, they were willing to decrease the bill to $300. Then i asked if they can provide any special deals coz i still have 13months on the contract with no iphone. First agent told me she can offer to put me on a new contract but i have buy a new phone and pay the exit fee, which i asked her how is that special goodwill deal? Hung up and then called back and spoke to another agent who were able to do something for me (probably only agent who did something right). During this time i had to go to the VF store everyday to see if they have the iPhone 4 in stock; every store gave me same rude generic response 'no'. 2wks later they tell me they can put me on a waitlist if i call their customer care. so i did, after another 30min wait. Spoke to another failed customer service agent who did not even read his notes before assisting me and made assumptions that were completely wrong. i had to escalate to a manager who then was able to put me up the waitlist and waived the delivery fee which this agent told me he couldn't do. TOTAL CRAP! And yesterday i got a letter saying that a delivery was attempted but no answer so need to pick up at the postal office. Went to work late today just so i can pick up the phone...they only delivered the micro sim!!!! WTF!!!!

This is just the customer service side so don't get me started with the constant bad reception and slow internet speed and i live within 4kms of Sydney CBD!

442 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is as useful as a cock flavoured lollypop at 17 Dec 2010 04:11:56 PM
Dropped calls, messages received hours after they were sent, voice mails appearing without ever having the phone ring, delayed voice mails. No 3G reception in major metropolitan areas such as the Sydney CBD.

The list just goes on and on... I've been relying on Vodafone as a business customer and it's become so ridiculous I've signed up for Telstra to get any decent connection service - yet I still have to pay these Vodafone clowns money for a service that doesn't work!

441 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad, really bad at 17 Dec 2010 04:11:42 PM
I've been with Vodafone for 3 months now on a new iPhone 4. I work in the middle of the Sydney CBD, and live in a suburb 7kms from the CBD. I get at least 5-10 dropped calls a day. The mobile internet works some of the time only. This all happens when I have FULL 3G coverage noted on my phone. Crazy.

I've been through 2 iPhones now as Vodafone insist it's Apple. The last time I went into the apple store they ran a diagnostic tool which told them how many call dropouts I have been having (date and time included). They changed it for the last time stating to me quite clearly that it is not the iPhone that is at fault; it is a network issue.

The icing on the cake is i have to wait for at least an hour on the phone on 1555 to speak to a real person. Just crazy, especially when you've been at work for 10 hours.

Years ago I was on the 3 network and left them becasue (a) it didn't work and (b) the customer service was non existant. Vodafone bought 3 over this year and inherited 300,000+ customers. This is obviously the problem as 3 did not have their own proprietary network; Vodafone's network now have to deal with these extra customers on the existing infrastructure.

Seems to me that 3 acuired Vodafone and not the vice versa!

439 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafucked! Infinite Fails. at 17 Dec 2010 04:07:58 PM
I've been with them since I got my first 5110, had small issues along the way, but, my biggest problem - my current one, doesn't lie in reception/coverage issues, it lies in the fact that I called them to change to their $69 cap from the $49 cap, and then when I got my bill it had $1,034 on it.
ONE FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS! The stupid c's had re-contracted me. I have had that amount changed twice after numerous phonecalls, and now it's down to $68 or so... Fucking retards.
I'm on the phone to them again right now, waiting, so I can cancel my direct debit, as 1512 is still telling me I owe the fucks 1k.
Oh and to also check that my contract was restored back to before they recontracted me, cause they couldn't even do it when I was on the phone that time due to system errors.
What country do those backwards donkeys who answer their phones come from?
I need a gun.

436 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is off the hook (literally) at 17 Dec 2010 04:07:26 PM
i'm with 3 mobile, already switching to telstra (thanks for the free phone telstra!) 3 mobile is owned by hutchinson who bought out vodafone. the lady in india told me switching from the $49 cap to the $19 cap "would be suitable," less than 2 weels after the initial "normal" delay of switching caps happened and i get an sms saying that my bill (usually under $100) is now over $400 due to going over my cap plan. bill shock horror.

free mobile to mobile calls are available but all telcos won't tell you about the apps that are available that transfer the voice signals directly from phone to phone until it gets to the destination phone using technology similar to peer to peer networks.

i've noticed the public relations guys from vodafone have started posting messages on the news story mentioned about vodafone's terrible service pretending to be vodafone customers and saying that they've had great service and no drop outs (some even saying they have great coverage in the outback??)
they ought to to know their i.p. addresses are logged lol

435 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vomit at 17 Dec 2010 04:07:04 PM
I am a new customer, PAYING for 500MB per month (says so in the contract). Vodafone will only allocate 250MB to me. My suggested solution to this problem is: Vodafone should deliver its aggreed product. Customer service...I'm not sure I've had any yet (7 phone calls is my attempt to bridge the gap).
Upon examining call drop out, cost, flag fall and coverage, it is very likley (circumstance dependant) that the other networks offer a superier deal, despite less "call credit". Thanks Vodafail.

433 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Utter Rubbish at 17 Dec 2010 04:03:14 PM
I live within 5 KM of the Melbourne CBD and I feel the pain! Constant drop outs (EVERY CALL!!), messages hours or days late, no reception in the middle of Melbourne. Absolutely NOT what I signed up for. I also receive LOADS of advertising texts from them. I even managed to speak to someone at vodafake about this, who had to ask his superior if it is possible to NOT receive the advertising. The reply was "ITS FREE!" What? They then told me it is not possible to NOT receive advertising texts. Oh my god, crap service and no choice with advertising? I am running as soon as my contract is up!

Vodafone has the audacity to throw millions of dollars on marketing and advertising at top tier sports events and yet provides a cheap and unreliable service. I can honestly say mobile reception is better in remote area's of Mozambique than it is in central Sydney with Vodapain.

417 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Significantly poor at 17 Dec 2010 03:46:01 PM
For about 6 weeks or more, I have not been able to attach to the internet using 3G from my Collins Street office. I called Vodafone a few weeks ago and was told there was nothing to do about it because of "access congestion" on the Vodafone network. More recently I've found calls dropping out and no improvement in accessing the internet. Yesterday I called and was told transmitters in Flinders Street were being upgraded and some of the problems were caused by the merger between Vodafone and "3". I was told that I should see an improvement to the network. In the mean time, no offer was made to compensate me for failed access, dropped calls etc. I've had enough and in the process of changing carriers. I'll take up the issue with the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

I took my phone to the Vodafail kiosk and they just told me to swap sim cards, did that and still fail, at least, Vodafail is consistent, I don't get my txt messages until days after, Vodafail doesn't inform customers, until they have a riot on their hands...=.= voda FAIL!

I'm a city dweller and over the past 2 months i have had numerous problems, with call drop outs, phone freezing during a call, receiving voicemail 12 hours later but no missed call and no data streaming! But the biggest and most ridiculous problem of all is how sitting in my lounge room (not moving) my phone will go from full reception and 3G status to low to searching to no reception in a period of 5 minutes?!? then I have to turn my phone off and try again! Seriously fix this problem!

I thought it was a problem with my iPhone 3GS - phone would lose coverage, calls went straight to voicemail and could not make calls even when the phone showed reception. I was going to buy a new phone. I solved the "problem" by turning off 3G and running off the much slower 2G network. Then I saw the SMH article and realised it is Vodafone's 3G network and not my phone!

I have been with Voda since 2000, over 10 yes now. It is the mis-management of technology and how it can best serve the customers. Whole organizations works in silos or separate business units, very disconnected, especially after the merger with Hutchison or '3 Mobile'. Managers look after you depending upon which previous organization you worked for.. They gave tried to get the culture working but it's just hard work and people have their heads in the sand. I had to get outta there. No one really does any diligence checks about massive network or customer impacting changes, they happen on the fly and people working there have a typical cow-boy attitude of just 'winging it'...

401 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Cataclysmic at 17 Dec 2010 03:34:11 PM
I'm one of the lucky ones. I was with them for a year with an iPhone 3GS - mainly because Telstra was expensive and we're in an Optus black spot here. Always had call dropouts, but accepted it as part of the digital network - until, that is, we had a blackout at home and a sick child. Phones were out, and I couldn't get a signal fro Vodafone anywhere, despite being in their "3G coverage area".

Once child was sorted at hospital, I'd had enough. They told me "go out on the road to make a call - we only guarantee signal to the street - despite being on the top of a hill and facing the tower.

I packed up both phones, cancelled the plans and ported the numbers and told them to shove the service - they had breached their contract. They reluctantly agreed to termination fees, and allowed me to port that day (to Telstra), but took them 2 months to send me the post-paid satchels to return the phones. And the whole time they kept billing me - PLUS $1000 cancellation fee !!!

While their customer service may have improved in some areas (i.e. the Twitter guys were very good), their network SUCKS

I have the same issues as everyone else, constant "call failed" when reception has full bars.... 3G service is appalling and half the time I never have any reception in Rozelle!! Its 5 mins from the CBD WTF??
I called and complained in November - as one one day I had absolutely no service, nor did my 3 friends... I was offered a $10 discount off my bill. After escalating the complaint further, they eventually advised that I would get my monthly bill for November waived. It did not surprise me to receive the November bill, and sure enough, I was charged!!! When I rang to complain the consultant I spoke with claimed to have no idea about the ongoing service issues. Clearly vodafone has failed to even brief their customer service team of these issues, which only makes dealing with them more difficult (not to mention the issues faced with communicating to someone who does not speak English well.
I hope the ACCC rips them to shreds.

We have just gone to VodaFail with iphone4. The reception and dropout are useless.Thank godness we kept the 3 phone which show 6 bars reception when Voda has 1 or none. We ere also asked to go back to 2g but with little results. We requested a transfer to 3 and this was denied. We have wasted hours on the phone and lost numdreds of calls. Clearly in its present form Voda is not fit for use in business and they should be prepared to refund all fees to date and fix the network.

I'm on a special Blackberry contract with Vodafone. However, as of yesterday, my SIM doesn't work on my Blackberry phone at all. I thought it was just me (a reception or bill problem). But when my sister, who uses Blackberry and is on Vodafone too had the same problems, I knew something was wrong. So I took the SIM card out and put it into another non-Blackberry phone, LG, and it worked. Called 1555, but no one answered. Hung up after waiting 58 minutes and 29 seconds. I'm paying a Blackberry contract, but I'm using a LG phone now.

382 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is It's not me, it's my network at 17 Dec 2010 03:18:41 PM
For months now I've been told by my partner and friends how bad my phone is and that it must have been dropped a million times to be so bad. (can I just say I've only dropped it once and that was from a desk, hardly a big fall).
I drop out of most calls after 5mins. I get little signal indoors (live and work in the CBD!!!) and my voicemail don't work properly. It also usually takes me at least two go's to make a call. God forbid I be in an emergency...
I brought up the issue with a Vodafone store once and was told it was my phone and to call the service centre, ha! Sorry I don't have 3 hours to sit on hold only to be told there is nothing wrong!

Great Job vodafone, you ignore your loyal customers and pretend it's their fault. Such a useless company...

I've been a vodafone customer in Aus for the last 6 years & 5 years prior to that in NZ. I used to love vodafone.....until 3 months ago. For the last 3 months I have set my phone to 2G only removing myself from the 3G nightmare. I have gone through every test there is over countless hrs on the phone and in the store. New sim, new settings, it's your phone, etc etc everything OTHER than THEIR network.

To my anger when the SMH article showed up detailing the massive issues being faced by customers on the 3G network. As such I have complained, complained and complained. They offered me a 30 dollar rebate. Considering I haven't been able to use my 1gig data allowance for over 3 months on my $79.00 cap this is an insult.

I have just read on the SMH website that the issue has now been "fixed" and the 3G network should be back to normal....as such I have switched my phone back onto 3G and will test over the weekend. However, since writing this my phone has said "searching" with a no signal icon on my phone....I am not holding out hope...telstra here I come!

367 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is As lost it's way at 17 Dec 2010 03:05:17 PM
I've been a Vodafone customer since 2004 and have been happy with their service up until the last year now. Vodafone has NOT done a thing about their networks coverage, in fact you can't even drive from Melbourne to Swan Hill/Mildura and use your phone and in areas where they have coverage (going on their coverage maps) you end up with crap coverage or no coverage. Their base station in my town is always going off line and we have had days of no service at all and their customer care people tell you there is no issues and it must be your phone. Bullsh@t it's my phone. If that's the case the 5 (old) mobile phones I have are faulty?? No it's your stupid network that's at faulty. I have only just a couple of months ago moved the other family members mobiles that were on with Vodafone to Optus. Optus might not be much better but at least their network where I am works and they are improving and installing more base stations. I was told for Vodafone managment after I sent them a letter about their poor network coverage that the number one reason people leave Vodafone was because of coverage in country areas and you know what they are doing about that? They are spending money on their network and putting up more base stations in the cities, WTF!!! You have coverage problems in the country so you put more base stations up in the cities? How does that help the coverage in the country?? It's pointless having great plans when you don't have coverage. Vodafone needs to wake up to themselves and spend money and fix their network. Vodafone are going to end up being a city only mobile phone carrier.

I spent 2 years with rubbish reception and service from Vodafone. Since switching to Telstra I have not had one dropped call in three months. When Switching to Telstra I had to go to the Vodafone store to get my customer number. It took 45mins in a queue for them to look up the system and obtain my number. I Then walked back to the Telstra shop and was served within 10 secs of walking in the door. When I spoek with Vodafone at one stage I was advised that if I could log three dropped calls within 48 hours they would help me terminate my contract early. This wasn't a problem and I was able to get out of the last three months of my contract. Should have done it sooner. Good luck

My partner and I recently changed network providers and we shopped around and as he was with 3 and always had good reception we decided to go with 3. However, we were asked by a staff member at 3 "why 3? Why not Vodafone? We will be getting rid of 3 soon so you're better off with Vodafone", so we went with Vodafone. It is the biggest mistake of my life. If I thought I had bad reception with Optus I had it even worse with Vodafone. I had no reception in the city or even if I apparently did have reception I couldn't make calls. Internet is slow, I receive text messages over 4 hours after they are sent (and that's being generous), my friends ask me why my phone is switched off etc. Its CRAP!!! Saving grace was a very polite gentleman from another store that listened to me and checked up his computer to give me what i wanted straight away, no hassles, no unnecessary documents etc etc... why did i spend all this effort? because vodafone is the only one with the blackberry i want on the plan that suits me. just because you have the monopoly doesn't mean you can be rude and ignorant to the customer. Customer service is crap, network service is below average, bills are unclear and myvodafail account on website is next to useless, vague and unclear.

343 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Give me a shotgun and leave me alone in the room with Vodafone... at 17 Dec 2010 02:52:30 PM
Just this morning I sent the following e-mail to Vodafone. Then I saw a news article on SMH and this site was linked to it.

--- Sent today 17/12/2010 at 9am ---
Hi,

A couple of years ago, after being with Vodafone Prepaid for several years, I had a number of bad experiences with credit disappearing and poor Customer Care calls and decided to port my number to Optus, a decision I was extremely happy with.

Several weeks ago, I decided to purchase the HTC Desire HD (only available through Vodafone) on a 12 month contract and so I ported my number back to Vodafone in order to get the phone. Since then, several things have occurred that have made me regret my decision and I would like to express my dissatisfaction:

1. My number took a little over 48 hours to port, despite being told that it would only take several hours by the lady at the store. This was only a minor inconvenience, granted, but an annoyance still.

2. I have had a number of occasions when people have been trying to call me and my phone comes up as being switched off or unavailable. I believe reception with the Vodafone network, while decent, is so choppy and I can't predict the reception blackspots, usually in the same area that I otherwise receive great reception. This is disruptive to my work (I work 2 jobs and really need my phone on me at all times due to the nature of my work).

3. I paid my first phone bill (due 30 December) on Monday (13 December). Despite this, I have received a number of e-mail notifications and text messages subsequent to paying, telling me that I still owe the money. It is now 4 days later and MyVodafone still lists money owing. Can you please fix this.

4. I have tried for two days to call Customer Care, at various points throughout the day. I constantly receive the message that "due to unexpected large volumes of callers...." nobody is able to take my call. Top this with the fact that Customer Care are only open on weekdays from 8am to 8pm, and the aforementioned problems, this is ridiculously poor customer service.

I'm sorry for the negativity of this message, however I've completely regretted moving back to Vodafone and am contemplating leaving your company again if things don't improve; I have regretted my decision to leave Optus and it's only 3 weeks in to my 12 month contract.

Can you please tell me how you are addressing the problems I'm experiencing.

Many thanks,
XXXX

Won't even allow me to make calls with full reception in Parramatta CBD while still allows me to recieve them every second or third go. some txts come through a day late. In the Blue Mountains even in areas the website says it covers decides to drop calls every 2 mins.

No 3G reception in George Street Sydney. Calls regularly dropped. Forget using the web as too slow and often no response. Unfrotunately, I am stuck with it as it is a company supplied Blackberry.

I now a telstra personal mobile phone as well in case of emergencies (like a 10 year old needing me)

My phone service is, to put it blunty, complete and utter crap now with Vodafone. The staff are incompetent but not so much so to tell me the truth that the network has been pretty much rooted since they started merging with 3.
I have never experience such bad customer service in my life and now that one of my ex-bosses (a certain Croatian prick that worked in the online hotel industry up until about a year ago) works for Vodafone it can only get worse. They have employed yet another incompetent bulls**t artist.

Terrible reception - poor coverage in Sydney metro and random drop outs even in the CBD!
Messaging - Missing or Delayed MMS with some up to over a day!
3G data - What data? 56K modems can download pages faster than Voda's mobile "broadband"
Customer service - should be renamed to customer suffering department. If your experiencing delays, where was the extra resources and communications? The Head of Customer Service should be fired. What a joke.

Vodafone are telling lies when they say a software fix will resolve these issues. They need to build more infrastructure, it cannot cope with the increased amount of smartphones on the network. They have a project in place to split the bandwidth and resolve this problem, but that is going to take a year. Nothing will be fixed by "next Friday...." as they keep saying.

I have had numerous people email me today saying that they can't get through to my phone, it doesn't even go to voicemail, nothing happens. I am based in the Sydney CBD, so service should be no issue. This is an ongoing issue. Most calls I get from people go straight to VM, my network never picks up calls. I can't wait to move off Vodafone.

I have always suffering from network problem at my home. most of the time it shows "no service" and most of the time "call dropped". Before switching me from 3 to vodafone, they have said the we have problem in 3 but in vodafone. So you shift on vodafone but vodafone has same story. My iPhone camera is freezed while taking photos or making videos, I have complained to vodafone, they said go to any vodafone store, I went to one of vodafone store. Representative there said you should update the software and it will be ok after that. But I have already updated two more versions but it has still same problem. Vodafone, please listen to the customers otherwise you will loose big clientele.

282 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Massive FAIL at 17 Dec 2010 02:28:10 PM
First of all - I myself is a telecomunication engineer working for one of the leading vendors. I called their helpdesk when I was trying to send SMS to Sweden but it did not work. But I could receive SMS from that same Swedish mobile. I asked the helpdesk guy about text message agreement between Vodafone and the Swedish operator Tele2. But the guy did not want to listen and kept saying I was using wrong number. I asked how come the same number works when I try from 3-mobile? He didnt answer and asked me to try his suggestion. And his suggestion was to add 0011 instead of + (when you dial overseas from Aus), country code, CITY CODE (which is only applicable for calling land lines) and then mobile number beginning with 0. So, the number for SMS should look like: 0011 46 03 071234567. Or just to explain how dumb that was I am giving example using Australian numbers - 0011 61 03 0411576891.

I told the guy that this would definitely not gonna work cause CITY code is not applicable in mobile number system. But the Indian guy got angry and he was so rude and said - "you first try what I tell you to try. who is the helpdesk? if you know how to do it, why did you call helpdesk? first try my recommendation, and if it does not work, call back again." and he hung up.

Of course it did not work and I called back the next day. Talked to an Australian girl this time and she agreed that what that Indian guy said was rubbish. But still she could not help to figure out why I cannot send SMS to Sweden but can receive.

Finally, after waiting for 3 months without a solution, and facing other issues like no coverage in my bed room, or underground car parks or even in safeway/coles, I decided to move to Telstra. Could be a little costly but their NextG got the best possible coverage.

So yeah - VERY POOR, RUDE, DUMB CUSTOMER SERVICE and VERY BAD RECEPTION.
27 Dec 2010 06:58:26 PM: You dont know how lucky you were, not being able to send sms to Sweden, try running a business and not getting any sms messages from anywhere, and not being able to receive calls, and having callers who cant even leave a voicemail message, but insted the vodafone message gives them the impression that the phone has been disconnected. Even Vodafone couldnt retrieve sms messages sent to or tell me who had tried to call me. "it all dissapeared" they said. This went on for eight weeks.Try running a business with this going on and being continually assured it will be fixed by tomorrow. I still get crap receptiona lot of the time, some sms messages dont come through and at times callers cant reach me, cant send emails at all ( vodafone did acknowledge they had an ongoing problem with email).
Vodafone (via a senior manager who I wont name) refused to release me from contract.Perhaps its time to email her again and with all this publicity maybe I should suggest she look at releasing me from the contract, refund what I have paid. As for her her denials regarding a lot of these issues that have come to light more recently, I may include ..."I told you so"
27 Dec 2010 07:36:51 PM: 'I myself is a telecomuication engineer', mate, Why don't you learn english first and improve your grammer before making race based comments. Yes, Vodafone's coverage is shite and most probably their call centre is nearly entirely manned by people of Indians origin (mind you, so is telstra & optus). How about sticking to highlighting what issues you're having with Vodafone and keeping your racial issues to yourself.
27 Dec 2010 07:43:24 PM: Well, speaking of grammar the correct spelling is 'grammar' not 'grammer' :)
better 'clean up your backyard' before you preach buddy ...
27 Dec 2010 07:46:47 PM: I think he is just stating that the Indians are a pain in the you know what to talk to because they don't speak fluent English and pretty much just know enough to read a script in front of them. Useless, they piss me off
27 Dec 2010 07:54:40 PM: How in the hell was this guys comments racial/racist or whatever. Your a bit of a sensitive little princess arent you.
27 Dec 2010 08:15:26 PM: How can the guy's comments be perceived as "racist"? He was stating that the guy he was speaking to was "Indian", that is hardly offensive!
Vodafone is constantly disappointing it's customers. When you are frustrated, it is extremely annoying to be told by someone at a call centre that your problem is easily resolved using the technique they suggested when you know it's ridiculous and it won't work.
So lay off about your racial views 27 Dec 09:36:51 PM - you're the one with the issue!
27 Dec 2010 08:17:23 PM: I understand how annoyed you would have been but you don't have to point out what race you spoke to. It appears to me that the guy you spoke to were dumb because he is an Indian????
27 Dec 2010 08:19:08 PM: Not "were" but "was".
27 Dec 2010 09:07:31 PM: But its true, most of the time when you speak to an offshore helpdesk the last thing you get is help, all you get is frustration at the lack of communication from the so called helper.
28 Dec 2010 07:38:24 AM: whenever my phone was on 3G i have to use area codes to call down the street. lmao, im guessing down my street is long distance now
29 Dec 2010 08:05:35 PM: you are all sad, stop hating here, proper spelling or not. at least were all on the same page when we say vodafone sucks. they have coverage outages all the time and there response constantly is that tower or signal updates are being performed as to the reason there is difficulty, however that is what the have been saying for 2 years as i worked for a vodafone dealer. plus i used to call the indians everyday and i would tell them how to do there job
31 Dec 2010 09:59:19 AM: Vodaphone has Customer service in India, now when I say I spoke to CS in India and Indian told me so and so I am racist?common people what a easy way to abuse...or are you ashamed that you are from India?
31 Dec 2010 10:32:38 AM: Dont people realise that English is the most dominate spoken language in India. I believe they also have the world highest percentage of English speaking persons too.
1 Jan 2011 02:12:26 PM: to be honest u guys seem to be having fun putting up with all this, and since u are putting up with all of this i think u guys deserve to be treated like this. How difficult it is t change service providers ??????
1 Jan 2011 07:42:11 PM: What a fool you are, dont you know what a contract is, dont you know that telcos prey on the fact that customers are locked into contracts??? That is how difficult it is to change service prividers!!!
2 Jan 2011 07:26:49 PM: Yeah i have been trying to change my service providers and it could cost a rediculous amount so shutup you obviously know nothing
4 Jan 2011 04:42:44 PM: Re: 31 Dec 2010 12:32:38 PM
Actually its China :)
4 Jan 2011 07:42:54 PM: According to Wikipeadia India is second to the USA in highest percentages of total number of population that speak English. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language
9 Jan 2011 02:18:15 PM: i think people are pointing out the fact that they are indian because you can actually understand how their comments would sound to a customer who is annoyed by the crappy service they are getting. I work in telco and the amount of times i have had a indian answer my call and be rude, speak over me, swear, hang up and over all annoy me are very high to the few that are amazing at their job. like a chic named star at virgin....she is awesome at her job!!! and a guy from voda who says his name is tom is awful, rude and pisses me off. I actually hang up if i get him (hehehe a little bit of pay back)
21 Jan 2011 10:41:06 AM: For a network engineer you sure are dumb putting 0 in front of the swedish mobile number.

My vodafone gripes.... in no particular order...
Ordered new HTC Desire HD - tooks a few days and 4 phone calls to finally get it. Wasn't offered insurance for new phone at the time of upgrade, and since told that it can't be purchased after getting the phone. Calls dropping out. Constant searching for 3g and therefore draining my battery, have since turned off 3g and oh guess what... my battery has now lasted over 30 hours. Customer service is a complete joke... at least 60 mins wait whenever you want to speak to them. I live about 8kms from Sydney CBD, I would expect to have a better connection/reception and I am like everyone else on here disapointed to say the least with these issues, call fail, call cannot be connected, can't always get your balance from 1512 as its not avaiable and even when it is you never know when the balance was updated....and then of course you have to look at your balance and then take 10% (GST) off your remaining balance to figure out what you actually have left so that you don't go over your cap... or maybe this is a ploy to get you to go over it to make yet more money from you..suck it up vodafone, sort out the issues before too many more customers walk away!!!!

What's the point of having an iphone and paying for my $99 unlimited plan when most of the time - I DON'T GET TO USE IT.

I went with Vodafone because I liked the competitive rates. But the pay off for poor service is unacceptable. I live in Preston and regularly only have one bar of reception in my house, when my partner on Telstra has all bars. I get the no cellular message at least four times a day. But the most annoying things are the delayed messages - voicemail messages received a day or more after they were left. I use this phone for work, so that's completely unacceptable. I'm locked in for another year, so 12 months more of pain.

232 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not what you call a telecommunication at 17 Dec 2010 02:10:07 PM
I have been experiencing problems with Vodafone's sms / mms service for the past few months. My msgs were received up to a day late. During this time I had to turn my phone off and on or even resort to making a call, and once I hung up, my msgs would then start coming in.

I complained to Vodafone about this, and my first complaint, Vodafone told me they had been experiencing a network issue in the last few days. However, my delayed sms has been happening for a few months now. They then proceeded to tell me that it was my phone. I told them that I also have another service, on the Vodafone network (my work mobile), and that is also experiencing the same problems. That excuse didn't work, so they told me it was my location. My retort was that I was experiencing this issue at all times of the day at all locations - from my work in Sydney CBD, to home in Sydney's west, and when I am out in metro Sydney. Vodafone still refused to admit they had an issue with their service, but wanted to fix the issue so they did a "master reset" of my account.

This seemed to fix the issue - for a day. After that, my sms / mms were getting delayed again and I had to go back to turning my phone off and on and making calls just to receive my msgs.

I once again called Vodafone, who now decided to say that there was nothing wrong with their network and that it was an issue with the person sending the sms. I told them, so everyone has an issue with their service except for me?!? if that is the case, why do my msgs only start coming in when I turn my phone off and on or make a call? Vodafone then attempted to do some "troubleshooting" and asked me to do all these things which I had previously done everytime I called. When I told them I had already done that earlier, they said i had to do it again, or I wouldn't be "co-operating" with their trouble shooting.

I once again co-operated and fed up with still getting delayed msgs, I called back the next day, only to have them say there was an issue with my SIM card. By this time, I was already frustrated with all the excuses they were using. It was already the last straw so I asked the floor manager to cancel my contract. They would not oblige because they believed there is nothing wrong with the service.

So I took my complaint to the TIO and Vodafone finally agreed to release me from my contract - yet I am still waiting for them to admit they have an issue with their network.

I am now a happy Telstra customer. I have to pay for all my calls and msgs now, because nothing is free on Telstra's plans. But I dont mind one bit, because I'd rather do that than put up with Vodafone's crappy service... not to mention having to deal with the incompetent Lara.

226 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is god-awful at 17 Dec 2010 02:07:23 PM
I've been with vodafone for 10 years on pre-pay and never had a problam - and now that I'm postpay I never stop having problems with them. Their network sucks almost as much as their customer service. The constant drop outs and poor 3g coverage means that I am unable to send texts when I'm in shopping centres.
I would rather be set on fire than have to call them again.
Why do they waste their money hiring people to get on twitter all day and promote stuff? Spend that cash on getting an Australian based call centre again!

224 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Woeful for months! at 17 Dec 2010 02:06:33 PM
After experiencing the same probs as I now know are common (i.e dropped calls, no network service, delayed voicemails), I eventually went to a Vodafone store to complain and was told it was a "known" problem associated with a tech upgrade and that it should be rectified within a week. Months later, the service is just as unreliable/unsatisfactory! Why weren't we told in the first place! I emailed them yesterday to cancel my contract - will see how long it takes to get a response!

221 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TOTAL at 17 Dec 2010 02:05:18 PM
Just swapped to Vodafone from Virgin...messages don't go through, often don't have any reception, 3g never works, pages don't load. They say they cover 90% of Australia...yeah right. Only signed a one year contract, hopefully may be able to get out of it and go back...

220 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Huge Fail at 17 Dec 2010 02:05:01 PM
I had been experiencing network letdown for some time. One day my wife (who is pregnant) called me 22 times. No Calls reported by the phone, and I was in a Good Coverage area, right in the heart of Sydney CBD. Called up Vodafone, it took me 4 hours to reach the right area. All calls go to India, the guy was eating food while speaking to me. He ended up waiving the remaining contract for me as I remained aggressive for him to act or get me someone in Australia. I raised a complain to TIO, and Voda never bothered to call me back within the 10 business days, as advised by TIO. I escalated again through TIO and some Aussie guy (finally) calls me. I gave him a spray for the bad customer and network. He still asked me to pay for the Handset money, which i paid, however the whole experience was bad bad bad. Shame on you Vodafone.

219 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is About as big as a fail can get! at 17 Dec 2010 02:04:36 PM
After 12 months of bad coverage, and several months of a basically unusable service I am finally free of what I have come to call Vodashit. Who cares that they are cheap, when you can't use their service!

213 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgustingly at 17 Dec 2010 02:02:56 PM
The network is absolutely dead around the Aquatium warf. Forget call drops. I can;t make or receive any calls or sms while I am in that area. I live in the city and still have extreme problems with teh network, emails don;t load, FB doesn;t load. try using the phone near the airport in Mascot. It sucks. It's completely dead. Got my phone replaced 3 times thinking its a fault with the i phone only to discover that the culprit is really vodafail..
Been on the phone to complain for hours. It's shockingly horrible.

204 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a tinpot third rate company at 17 Dec 2010 02:00:28 PM
I wrote a formal complaint to Vodafone and tried to fax it to the number shown on the complaints page. It took 4 days of getting ring outs and engaged signals before the fax eventually got through. Given the rest of the network is so shit, it shouldn't have suprised me that their ability to receive faxes would be crap as well.

Stop paying your bills until they fix it. If they can't keep up their side of the contract then why should customers have to pay the full price ?

201 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Reception at 17 Dec 2010 01:59:51 PM
No Reception every night after 12am. Call drop many many time and i can't seem to be able to receive any call.
Waited on the customer service helpline phone for 1 hours and they;re not willing to tell me what happen. First they told me is a SIM problem so i walk into the shop and get a replace SIM and same issue occured again. Talked to another service staff at the shop, he said they are issue with the 3g network tower lower north shore, he ask me to turn off my 3g network and use 2g instead. I was like... what about my internet??? why do i pay for 2g speed?

194 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Really Really Poor at 17 Dec 2010 01:57:55 PM
I have had a contract with their mobile network for the past 8 months and have repeatedly have series of blank weeks where it just won't connect. I live in Sydney's CBD! And calling their helpline is possibly one of the most frustrating experiences ever - dealing with the excrutiating Lara until you're put onto some well meaning person in a call centre who can't actually help you. Literally, i've heard "im sorry, there is an issue with your suburb at the moment, but we're onto it". And they still charge you the monthly fee for a service that barely works! Truly bafflingly bad service.

193 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 17 Dec 2010 01:56:39 PM
I have to say that the vodafone network has been disgraceful for the last few months. I have been a vodafone customer all my life and so is my whole family. I am now actively looking to change networks. No recept, internet not loading getting messages coz nobody can get through to me. I emailed customer service and they copied and pasted their PDS section for network coverage.Friends and work colleges are having the same problems. The SMH article was confirmation of what I suspected that vodafone were hiding the truth. Seriously unhappy.

191 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Super at 17 Dec 2010 01:55:31 PM
I am getting the same dropped calls, unable to make calls, poor 3g coverage etc that everyone else is getting, despite the fact I work in Sydney CBD and live about 2ks from the City Centre.

On top of that my Vodafail wireless internet on my laptop drops out regularly and often is unable to get 3G coverage. The nice lady at vodafone said it might be because my house has a tin or corrugated iron roof! A TIN ROOF! Surely, if the type of roof I have has any bearing on my ability to use their product it should have been explained BEFORE I signed up to a 24 month contract. Vodaphone sucks balls. I feels so good to be able to complain about this.

190 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is what a joke at 17 Dec 2010 01:55:27 PM
Vodaf---ing joke, I have lost count the amount of drop outs, connection errors, no reception in the middel of Sydney CBD. I have moved to Optus because of the lack of evrything. Vodafone should be putting more into its network issues and resolution rather then promoting itself on how good they really think they are!!!!

I ended up breaking contract - all I had to do was pay my phone off, the contract was recinded. Vodafone acknowledged poor network.

186 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Customer Service at 17 Dec 2010 01:54:04 PM
Had to wait 67mins for my call to their service centre to be answered. This was after being directed via "Lara" into a particular queue. When my call was answered, the Vodafail consultant said she could help me and transferred me to another area (and another queue), only to wait a further 42mins. I also signed up for mobile broadband internet. BIG MISTAKE! Reception and speed is very poor. They have made3 mistakes on my monthly invoices since I joined. Offered to increase my monthly allowance from 3gig to 4 gig, but have never fulfilled this promise, even after bringing it to their attention. Service sucks. Network sucks.

181 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No internet connection at 17 Dec 2010 01:53:30 PM
For about a week I had no internet connection. I tired to access the internet at different times and different places. I contacted Vodafone Customer Service earlier this week and spoke to a customer service consultant from what I believe was an overseas call centre. They did not inform me of any broader problems on the network, nor concede it was a vodafone problem. They simply sent me the default settings, and suggested it may be a phone issue. Now I understand from the SMH article that others have had similar problems. I finally got web access last night.

180 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is cr*p at 17 Dec 2010 01:53:28 PM
After many years as a Vodafone pre-paid customer - and suffering the odd "unannounced" issue with voicemail - I have decided to switch to another carrier following this recent debacle ... moreso since Vodafone continue to claim that no problem exists.

Dropped calls, "No Signal", slow data or no data, inability to make or receive calls, voicemail messages received days later, text messages received hours later, useless customer service.

Vodafone have completely mis-managed the integration of their network with that of "3" - and we the customer are now paying the price!!

I'm just glad that I'm pre-paid so can walk without any problem.

175 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 10 out of 10 at 17 Dec 2010 01:52:22 PM
I work in noosaville Qld. Cannot get reception in middle of office! Pathetic. I go home to Weyba Downs which is some 12km away: no reception on freeway, no reception on road, very very poor reception - only on balcony - at home. Called them time and time and do nothing. Vodafone sucks big time. A disgrace.

172 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme at 17 Dec 2010 01:51:57 PM
Constant no signal issues and no service displayed. Other times have signal but no 3G, no edge or no data aviailable at all. Sydney inner west - none to one bar signal and 'serching' displayed on an off throughout the day...SMS not sent or delayed and the reciprient will then double or triple - esp with MMS. Poor signal coverage in Sydney metro area - Parra through to Leichhardt and have no signal coverage at all in the hunter valley, a population of over 60K...no one on telstra network have these issues...

171 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is failblog worthy at 17 Dec 2010 01:51:27 PM
I changed to Vodafail three months ago from Optus. Optus is rubbish, Vodafone is rubbish, I can't afford to be mugged by Telstra, not a lot of options. I live in Sydney CBD and work a couple of suburbs away always looking at my 5 Bars of coverage whilst waiting for minutes to check the weather or email or facebook. I can't make calls for more than a few minutes with out "call failed".Data is here to stay in our pockets, telcos get on board and upgrade your bloody networks to LTE now!
