26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

14076 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Just step back and think about it at 21 Jan 2011 09:23:07 PM
I think that all you vodafone customers that are having problems with your service should all just step back and think about what you are saying. Out of the three top talco's that been (Telstra, Optus and vodafone) Vodafone is the only one that was able to finally provide customers with unlimited call and texts and a new phone for $45, now at the end of the day when you have all finish having a cry to vodafone you might consider the fact yes you maybe getting call drops but at the same time you are paying alot less for alot more. Everyone knows that Telstra has the best coverage, you all new that when you signed up for a voda contract that it would not match to telstra's coverage, so it is really your fault that you are too cheap to spend the extra, i personally have had all of the problems described with vodafone and with three, however i do not complain because i like paying less even if it means call drops. You have all got to consider Vodafone's situation that they are currently preparing their network including merging of three hardware with voda, to cope with all the new customers plus all the ones from three so i would expect there to be some issues . I believe that things will get a lot worse before they get better and when they do get better aussie people will finally have descent coverage without having to pay through the roof IE TELSTRA.
21 Jan 2011 09:37:59 PM: Take a step back you SAY and get jammed in the ass, Pay $180 a month for no internet and no calls Get a Life!! you say pay them money and be happy your getting a cheap deal Typical cop it sweet attitude
21 Jan 2011 09:43:37 PM: Hahahaham $45 for an infinite service that you can barely use is not good value. Nor could it be classed as a Telco, as that would imply you could make calls (something that can't be done on Vodafone due to no coverage or constant dropped calls).

Telstra pricing is by far the best option as it is similar to the rest, but yet with the best coverage and performance.
21 Jan 2011 10:12:35 PM: What good is an infinite plan if all you're doing the whole time is calling people back, or can't access the 3G network you paid for?
Regardless of whether Vodafone's customers are happy with cheap plans, if Vodafone are going to provide a service with a 30-40% dropout rate, they need to inform the customers that frequent call dropouts and a generally substandard network is what they are signing up for. I'm not saying that Vodafone should be forced to advertise themselves as a shitty network. Rather, they should NOT be presenting themselves as a great network, which is what they're doing at the moment (see www.vodafone.com.au).
21 Jan 2011 10:31:23 PM: Is a talco something to do with talcum powder?
21 Jan 2011 11:15:33 PM: Vodafone coverage where I live is so bad my phone does not even ring when someone calls me so I moved to Telstra and now get 4 of 5 signal bars! I pay more but at least my phone rings now!
21 Jan 2011 11:27:54 PM: The thing is that there was a misrepresentation in the first instance.

Pay for a Merc expect a Merc. Pay for a Hyundai expect a Hyundai. But where in the specification sheets did Vodaphone forewarn us that our dollars would be paying for a service with such pathetic cover and such frequent call failure?

Misrepresentation.

I bought a phone service. Not a lottery ticket with an actual successful call as the prize.

And, no, I don't have to consider Vodaphone's situation. Vodahone have to consider Vodaphone's situation, and I have to consider *my* situation. If Vodaphone could not run and merge with 3 without creating this disaster, they ought never have proceeded. It's called due diligence. Therefore, their situation, as you put it, is of their own making. Their due diligence failed. Their planning and forecasting has been manifestly inadequate. and you can bet if any of their suppliers were as hopeless to them as they have been to their customers, they would be first to cut the supplier.

14071 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Hopeless customer service at 21 Jan 2011 09:03:02 PM
I am on a pre-paid plan and suspect I'm being charged for calls which should be free using V2V free credits. Received text message advising low credit. This surprised me because I had made very few calls. Tried to log into My Vodafone on-line account to check call history/account details etc but received error message re incorrect username/password.
First call to Vodafone Customer Service (VCS) - Was told my number wasn't on their system and I would need to re-register but can't re-register because my number doesn't exist!! Couldn't contact Vodafone by their email link as they were having 'technical problems'.
Second call to VCS - Told I'd have a temporary password texted to me - didn't happen.
Third call to VCS - Operator logged job with their technical people and advised I would hear back in 72 hours. That was over nine days ago and I'm still waiting.
Fourth call to VCS - Waited on hold for 90 mins before call answered. Operator then put me on hold while he contacted his technical people but after another 80 mins the connection dropped out.
So after four phone calls (that's the ones that actually connected to a real person) countless non-connects and many hours on hold I still cannot access my account on line, can't cancel my automatic recharge authority or even raise the issue of the phone charges.
I have been a Vodafone customer for around three years using the same phone number and the same pre-paid plan but now I don't exist - funny thing is they still charge me for the calls I make!!
Vodafone is a disgrace and their customer service is hopeless.
I'm lodging a complaint with the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

I have been with voda for nearly ten years and I have to say. that about just before the time all this media stuff came out. I started to notice no data connection when there were attenna bars on my phone. some calls cut out on the callers end and they can't here me? didn't think too much about it. but it's been getting worse over the last six months.. I was attempting to make a fault call to report it and as soon as a consultant outside Australia answered my call... Nah,this call end s here. won't waste any of my time with that. when my contracts out.I'm OUT! what happened Voda??

Broadband disconnecting at least 20-30 times per day. sometimes more than once every 30 seconds. Really quite annoying. GIZMO tech says its a fault at their end because my equipment is all working fine. emailed twice to complain with no reply. Ready to change now.

I also used to think the best thing about Vodafone was their aussie call centre staff, but now they're all indians and I can't understand anything they say.

Also, Lara never gets it right, and she never picks the answers I need. Lara is only there to try and waste enough of your time so that you will go away and not complain. Lara sucks

Can anyone recommend any better ISP?
21 Jan 2011 08:39:30 PM: If you mean a 3G ISP, then your only real choice in Australia is Telstra's NextG network. They have the best coverage and performance in Aus.

14057 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Badly at 21 Jan 2011 08:12:14 PM
I am living in the Melbourne and I am constantly getting a message says there is no internet connection and my calls constantly drop out too. This is so frustrating and I couldn't believe that I have such a poor reception in the city.

I have tried to call Vodafone customer service which I believe in it was based in India and the wait time was ridiculous. I have called to ask a simple question and I was waited for 45 mins. Every phone calls took me 45 mins to wait as if I have no life and I would spend all my time to wait and listen to the repeated message " hang in there, and we would be there with you shortly".

I also tried to complain via internet but unfortunately the complaint eform was down too. Is anything at Vodafone is really working? I have posted a 2 page long complaint letter to them about 2 weeks ago and I heard nothing from them to date.

It's time for Vodafone to deliver a decent service and customer service.

Thanks for whoever set up this website and I hope it will bring a better outcome to all of the users in Australia

One second it has ful bars, then back to nothing, then back to full bars. So, i go to make a call/message, thrn it drops out again. Was told i have perfect service at my house....i get none. What the?! I swapped from 3 mobile because i was getting the same thing. Was told i have 3g and could use interent under cap, but was charged $100 for nothing.

21 Jan 2011 10:41:42 PM: @ 21 Jan 2011 08:57:04 PM on day 10 go back to TIO with your reference number, they will contact Vodafone again.

I have heard that due to the large volume of complaints Vodafone now have 15 business days to reply, you may need to check that out with TIO.

14013 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Where do I start???? at 21 Jan 2011 06:13:15 PM
I have been with Vodafone for less than 3 months and firstly I was told I would have my contract with my then service provider paid out, that hasnt happend and Im in debt that I cannot afford to get out of.
Secondly I randomly have 'No Service' in areas such as the cbd of major towns and cities where you would expect full covereage.
My phone calls drop out and my messages dont go through to their intended recipient until, in some cases, 1-2 days later.
I was asked to pay a large amount of money for a phone I was supposed to get for free.
I want out of my contract but Iv been told a Vodafone employee that Vodafone wont allow it-I ask, what ever happend to my rights ?? Im not happy with them so I want out-End of Story...
Its just pathetic I sighned up to try and save money with a certain plan and its been nothing but a headache...

I have been with Vodaphone for about 4 months. I grilled the so called manager about their service and was assured that i would get good service in Craigieburn. I have kept the emails which i now laugh at. It is amazing how a company can charge you for services that are not up to specification as advertised. I have tried to get in touch with them by phone and give up in disgust, i hate that lara, and once you get past her, you are holdng on forever. I only use their mobile internet service, and it is frustrating how the service drops from 3g to nearly no service. Very hit and miss if you try to use skype, and frustrating when pages are too slow to load. Bring back dial up internet, a better alternative to Vodaphones 3G

I have poor reception at home in a bayside melbourne suburb and no reception at work in the eastern suburbs. My internet connection always drops out or switches between networks so freezes the page. So I moved house a few k's away (not due to reception issues) and the reception is still no better. I have a few people tell me they've sent me text's or called and I have not got it. Or alternatively I miss a call and get a text saying I have 4 VM, where were the texts for the other 3??

Vodaphone is a scam, they don't care about the customers, they don't care about their service and they don't care when the phones they sell are shit!

Ok they can sell me a vodaphone phone, then want between $50 and $199 to unlock the phone I buy from the 3/ vodaphone store.
I was a vodaphone customer and changed due to wait times with help, poor reception, poor after sales and high call costs.
I wish you would start a three the unlucky number site, as I'm sure 3 customers like myself also have no signal/no service and no assistance. good luck

I have been a 3 customer for about 4 years. Everything fine for the first 2 but the last 2 is a different story. At home in a leafy northern melbourne suburb my iphone 3gs shows no service, roaming or at best 1 to 2 bars of reception. About a third of the time it has no service. I am in their metro melbourne coverage area so I figure I should have decent coverage 24/7 with them, thats what I pay them for!!

I was in Sydney last week travelling from Mosman to the northern beaches area of Ingleside. I rand my wife at home in melbourne and during a 10 minute conversation I had 6 drop outs. Not good enough 3/Vodaphone!

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for many years on a contract,
I upgraded my phone and from there...The phone had issues within the first week, took it back, it got sent away to be fixed. (a new phone needed repairing - a problem here for a start) I want a replacement. Forget the warranty - that's only on the paper so I would enter the deal cause it doesn't actually exist) They tell me, we will have to repair it first! ... omg! Went back to store and still wouldn't replace, follow the steps... phone has to be sent away 3 times for repair before replacing the phone was a consideration. Well, I gave up, I don't care anymore. I put the dead phone away and put my sim card into my sons old phone. 3 years later, my son's old phone is still chugging along, there is no way I would consider updating the phone. Hear all the time for family/freinds etc the ongoing issues.

13913 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fail is an understatement at 21 Jan 2011 02:20:58 PM
I had network issues and was not recieving phone calls text messages and voicemails although in fairness voicemails some did run late by a week.
I had tried calling but would end up hanging up because after being on hold for 1 hour i would be told that i needed a different department which meant i had to hold for another hour.
Finally I was fed up and told vodafone that I was cancelling and not paying a cancelletion fee as this was a joke they then told nme to try different handsets and a number of different things they sent me text msgs that did not come through.
After all of this they told me they needed to troubleshoot which may take 28 days to figure out what was wrong. The Consultant then told me I had to pay to cancel which i was fuming at so i explained I was happy to continue as long as they were happy to pay consultancy fees per hour for the 18 hours i had been on this particular matter over 3 days and no call backs as promissed.
To cut a long story short after 5 hours I was offered a credit and was advised that because my phone was required for business and i could not wait to cancel and go to another network. Which i did immediately as i was traveling overseas the following day and left my phone with a friend for the time i was away and took theres so i did not have network problems.
I explained to the consultant that if i had to call back i needed to be compensated if none of the above were actioned. I had even exagerated my fees at $5000 per hour and told them that I would charge this for the hours i had spent previously and the hours I would send to sought it out.

After all of this I sure enough got charged to cancell and no credits were applied. I then called back and went to a supervisor who said i would not be credited but he would do me the favour and wave my cancellation fees. I explained to him that as per my mention that i would be requesting a $100,000 + compensation for my time and services. he then said that is impossible I then said well you wont apply any of the credits that were originally agreed to so put me through to the person who I spoe with originally and this super visor who I wont name refused saying he did not believe me that this had been mentioned and i was lucky that i he was crediting me the cancellation fee. I finally hung up as I was getting nowhere.
I then called the next day spoke to the person i originally spoke with for 5 hours on november 2nd mind you it took an hour to get through again. During this I conversation i had to loose it as he was going on about it was my fault and that he could no longer credit me as i cancelled on his advice but he would wave the fee. Finally I advised him of our compensation fee and he said he would wave the entire amount owing but could not get me any form of compensation.

Yours sincerly
Mr 30 hours+

13894 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is F'ing fail! at 21 Jan 2011 01:43:14 PM
Not to sure why it happens and would be interested to hear if it happens to others, but when ever i go to sporting events, i can never text anyone.

It says i have full reception but the message always fails.

Prime example of this was at the Ashes Criccket game at the MCG on Boxing day, The event was sponsered by vodaphone, but i still couldnt text - or use interent!?

It happened yesterday at the Australian open tennis as well???
21 Jan 2011 01:47:04 PM: Same as Christmas and new years, every man, woman, child and dog is sending text's from the venue. Therefore, whichever base station is in the area will become overloaded. I don't work for Vodafone. This is just the way the technology works.
21 Jan 2011 01:51:35 PM: Same with me - was at the cricket (MCG) on boxing day and phone said full 3G reception, yet I could not make calls or go on the net.
21 Jan 2011 02:03:46 PM: It's a peak load problem and it makes no sense bulking up the capacity of that particular network location to accomodate a sporting event that happens for 5 days a year. Cricket being a special case since it's so boring everyone reaches for the phone.
22 Jan 2011 08:12:22 PM: I've had it at the tennis also, couldn't use 3G internet at all, and after giving up completely I asked my friend on Optus to help out and send a text for me...
I really don't know why I bother. I had absolutely no problem until late last year. Stupid Vodafail!!!

Drop outs, data non existent, when it is there it takes ages to load a web page, I thought leaving 3 was the right thing to do.... FAIL!
21 Jan 2011 02:07:11 PM: 3 went through the same pain. In the early days they couldn't transfer from 3G to 2G(roaming) without dropping the call. While this mainly applied when you were on the move, if you were on the border between coverage areas it wasn't unheard of to drop calls while stationary. These problems have been largely smoothed out by 3 but makes you wonder if this is what's happening with Vodafone.
22 Jan 2011 12:49:00 AM: I will have full 3G reception, not even touch my phone and I lose all reception. Messages CONSTANTLY fail to send. extremely frustrating. I have missed many shifts at work thanks to it not working. I have been in a rush to find people in the city and I have to use someone elses phone to ring them because even though my phone will have reception, it just disconnects me. And it's not my phone, I had to get a replacement recently due to dead pixels and that was the same. I've been with 4 different telco's and nothing this woeful.
22 Jan 2011 12:51:44 AM: Oh and the insurance team is as useless as a wet rag. Asked if my battery was covered due to water damage and he did not understand that. Just went 'huh?' and then went on about something to do with the phone being covered by insurance when I wasn't asking about that. Somehow couldn't comprehend what a battery is and that it can be removed.
22 Jan 2011 03:52:36 PM: As a small business owner, I was at the point of paying whatever it cost to get out of my contracts and sign up with a less disreputable, and more reliable network.
Lodged complaint online with tio, took 3 mins. Vodafone released me from 2 contracts ( 1 had 18 months to go). Signed up with telstra, pay the same get 3 gig instead of 1 gig, got an iphone 4, the difference is like comparing dial up to cable, get texts when they are sent, people I send texts to get them straight away (unless they are with voda). My business prides itself on reliability and proffessionalism, our only drawback was vodafone.

The usual problems; picture messages in particular come through about 5 hours later than they get sent, often with a batch of texts. I have so much drama with data though! I'm on an iphone 4, which is fast for all my friends on other networks, but I can barely even load something as lightweight as my Twitter timeline within 5 minutes (if at all).

I've noticed I have particularly slow service in Templestowe and South Melbourne, areas I unfortunately spend a lot of time in.

For the past 6-8 months, text messages have been delivered and received 1-2 after being sent. Calls take 30-40 seconds to register (if they register at all). On the train going through areas where I see people with other providers happily talking, texting and browsing away whilst I look stupid trying to get my phone into an angle that will allow it to connect. Reception. Everytime I get a call or make one I have to sit in a weird position to have any reception at all...no matter where in my house I am...

I live in suburban Melbourne for God's sake...how the hell can I not have any there? Customer service is horrid too. I gave up on calling or texting to recieve credit information because most of the time it is out of date and causes me to use more than I'm told I have so I ed up going over the limit...If it isn't out of date it just doesn't work, saying things like 'this service is unavailable right now' or it just doesn't send em anything back...

Lowest company...Absolute dead weight.
21 Jan 2011 01:08:15 PM: Oh it's their fault that you talk too much and exceed your cap is it?
21 Jan 2011 01:40:02 PM: I think the complaint is about the credit info being outdated genius.
21 Jan 2011 02:08:26 PM: i use the website to check my credit balance... i know it can be a couple of days out of date, but it's the only way i get accurate credit balances at any time!
21 Jan 2011 02:24:03 PM: @3:40 I think you'll find the complaint is more about reception.

I have been with Vodafone for 6 weeks and have had 95% dropped calls. This spans usage from Mornington Peninsula to Armadale to Torquay. It occurs whether I am driving, walking or sitting absolutely still. How can I be on a call, sitting still with full reception one minute and the next droppped? Did someone move the reception tower? Ridiculous.

I am having network issues with my new iphone here in melbourne and so i called vodafone to complain. They told me I had to wait 2 months while they 'investiagted' and in the meantime i should go get a pre-paid phone from another provider (!!!!) and ring vodafone back and then ask to have my calls diverted to the other number. That way when i have no service i can still get my calls. Can you believe that! I was on hold with them for over 30 minutes and was transferred through three different people to get this useless information.

I signed up for a two year contract in Nov 2010. It was for a $29 cap over 24 months with the first 12 months being $19 only. However I've been charged the full $29 for two months already. When I called up customer service, they said that it was the store's responsibility to sort out the problem. The store said it was the call centre's responsibility. This to and fro went on twice. Then the store mananger asked me to call him up during working hours so he can put me through to a three way teleconference to sort out the problem. I don't have time for a 1 hour teleconference with vodafone during working hours.

13811 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is failed to cancel account after death at 21 Jan 2011 11:37:56 AM
My father passed away in September and my mother contacted Vodafone to inform them of this and to close the account. I faxed through the death certificate and a letter informing them of his passing hoping that this would be it. No, the very next month my mother received a bill for $23. Again I faxed through the death certificate after they told us that there was a discrpancy on it as on the account my father's initials were JL instead of LJ. Fair enought I thought, but that fax sat on someone's desk with the account and contact details on it yet nobody bothered to contact us regarding any discrepancy. My mother's stress soared again when yet another letter arrived saying that there was $23 on the account accrued after his death and after she informed them of his passing. I rang Vodafone only to be left on hold for ages before speaking to an Indian call centre operator. She informed me that she could not access his account without his pin number. I did not know it, neither did my elderly mother, why would we? She persisted in asking me again and again only for me to demand to speak to a supervisor. Finally after me losing my temper and telling her short of exhuming him and raising him from the dead there was no way to provide a pin number. I then spoke to a supervisor who lo and behold unlocked the account details without me knowing the pin! After much berating from me and threatening to contact the ombudsman and A Current Affair he told me it would be rectified. Thankfully this was the end of it, but it was a lot of emotional stress and needless pain for my mother to endure. A local call centre or point of contact could have saved my mother and me the stress of dealing with such incompetent staff.

I'm 10Km from Melb CBD, yesterday I only had data reception on and off also voicemail messages turned up about 2 hours after the phone call. I had registered a complaint online in early December which recieved an email reply suggesting if I didn't reply in a few days they would assume it was resolved. Interesting!

Thanfully my contract runs out at the end of the month so I will be moving carriers very quickly. Having said that my problems with them started a few months into my contract when I called up to change the "best mate" number. I had my phone blocked and demands to pay out my contract. (Apparently someone clicked a wrong button and I had only called up to do it as the website wasn't working) This resulted in many hours on a landline phone to every country but Australia to try and get my phone back online.

Like everyone else, I've missed appointments due to calls diverting straight to voicemail and then not registering for hours, texts turning up hours after being sent, had calls drop out, zero reception at inconvenient times and infuriating attempted conversations with call centre staff and Lara. There isn't going to be anything about Vodafone I'll miss.

Well apart from dealing with Lara and trying to get her to do what is needed, the hardware being the iphone4 has numerous problems, everything from 40 second calls ending up with the person not being able to hear me, to drop outs, people cannot call the phone it just goes to voicemail, the voicemail messages get sent to the message bank hours later, txt messages coming through hours later. Being a business phone we are losing business. Our customers are experiencing bad service which is refelcted on us giving this service level all because of vodafone's lack of service! Because we are not aware of their calls, we cannot speak to new customers and help and this affects our potential income! Vodafone fix the problem stop running me through the same hoops everytime! I check the outage page and i have all the coverage bars so no reception problems. The issues are becoming more and more frequent! with no answers and everytime i call they seem to be oblivious to anyone else having these problems! Promising call back at certain times and then not calling alterntive numbers i've provided???

Good site! well done on setting up the forum to vent and let the wider public know about these problems! Getting the Iphone is just not worth these problems!

I have my iPhone with and my Mobile broadband with Vodafone.

My phone drops out frequently and so to does the mobile broadband.

I will often receive voicemails days later that are often urgent.

My mobile broadband will frequently drop at at night time around 10/11 and will sometimes not come back on again until the next day. This affects my business practices as I often cannot send important emails.

When I tried to lodge a complaint to Vodafone I had to give a ridiculous amount of detail regarding each instance of failure and due to its complications I abandoned my complaints.

I called the 'customer service (hahaha)' line a few days ago and waited over half an hour before hanging up.

Vodafone coverage is also particularly bad throughout parts of NSW where I recently went on holiday.

Not a happy camper.

13701 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is call drop outs and flagfall charges at 21 Jan 2011 10:10:46 AM
I experience call drop outs on a regular basis, to people on all networks. What is ridiculous is that when the call drops out, I will have to call again and get charged for flag-fall (connection)again and again! And this is eating into my monthly call credits.

At times when I call people, and the line seems to be blank, no ringtone, no hangup, just silence. Then I'd have to wait for a while and then it'll be fine, standing in the same location.

The thought that it maybe a handset issue is also far fetched, as I have a Vodafone exclusive mobile phone, so either way it'll be Vodafone's issue.

To be fair, I'll add that despite my first two bills being COMPLETELY incorrect, Vodafone call centre staff where very professional and helpful, albeit waiting on the phone for a long time.

Other day called vodafone and was told there was a 30 min wait and we will call u back. they called me back and when it went to put me through to the actual operator it dropped the call, so i had to wait another 30 minutes for vodafone to call me.

also my vodafone iphone 3gs insurance expired in late september.. in oct i sent my phone for repairs and they said to put it through insurance as wifi wasn't working. It took vodafone 1 month and they didnt call me back after i left my phone with them. I called vodafone and they advised that some report had been misplaced and that my phone claim was in limbo, but then quickly they sent me an email saying it had been denied because it wasn't damaged enough! so next time i know i need to break my phone or run over it, so insurance will cover it!

we have 14 phones and 1 internet sim all with vodafone. we joined on a corporate plan with promises like conference calling, call transfers between users etc. all of which is useless because of the constant drop outs and lack of useable service.

In one conference call a few weeks ago we took over an hour to have a 10 minute discussion and had to add people back in to the conversation dozens of times as they constantly dropped off the conference.

the time it takes for text messages and voicemails to be delivered renders them completely useless as the topic of them is usually over before we even get the messages.

The internet connection connects as HSUPA or GSM which is much slower than 3G most of the time despite all phones showing 3G coverage.

Vodafone customer service is unable to offer us any useable assistance other than to blame us, whiile their billing department is perfectly competent and charges us a flagfall for every reconnection call, every SMS and voicemail and charges us for 3G internet that is not being delivered.

Can't wait to get out of this SCAM!

I've been a long-standing customer and it's only out of sheer laziness I continue with them. I am loathe to ring their customer service cause when i hear the "Lara" recording my head wants to fly off my shoulders from sheer exasperation and annoyance. They make it difficult for us to get through to a human being cause they want to migrate us to the website channel. I don't even want to start on some of the problems I've had with their website over the years too! So, once through the myriad levels of Lara, if i need to speak to someone I will usually have to wait 45-60 minutes. Disgusting. Then I've had the experience of getting through to someone on the Indian sub-contintent, they have been unable to help me, redirect me to another number...which has then dropped out! NONE of their senior execs should be getting bonuses as the poor customer experiences across all touchpoints do not warrant reward!!The only good experience i've had with this company is really walking into the stores in Melbourne where the staff are lovely and seem to know what they're doing.

13648 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very! at 21 Jan 2011 09:43:35 AM
I lost my phone in Bali in August. Contacting the number on the Vodafone website meant a 25 minute wait on Hold and then only to be asked why I had rung network connections. the Vodafone consultant tried to give me a 1800 number to call, I explained that that only worked ithin Australia and explained to her again that I was Overseas. this did not seem to register. eventually she was able to put a block on the phone and give me a number for the insurance company to get a replacement phone. this call cost me over $100 as it was made from the hotel phone. I had to get first my sisiter then my Assistant at work to deal with the insurance compant and vodaafone to try and organize a replacement phone. this took six weeks and had to be bought to France by a friend. after the in excess of 15 phone calls and considerable cost I found the phone did not work. I tried to call again but was put on hold and decided to wait till I returned home in late October. More phone calls revealed that they had not removed the original block when they set up the new phone despite the fact that they charged me my monthly service charge and Phone insurance excess and other charges. One telephone consultant even told me that the numbers to call on the website were wrong and needed to be updated (without a hint of irony or guilt). It took 3 months for Vodafone to get me phone working. its like they never have people who lose their phone overseas and have delt with this process in a very unprofessional manner. The problems did continue with the new phone unfortunately and eventually after many phone calls some of the charges had to be taken off the bill which made things slightly better but only fair given the very poor service. I am leaving them as soon as my contract is up.

There is a spot under my front veranda where I can conduct an almost successful conversation - but try and move from that spot and it's all over. I've complained to Voda a number of times over the couple of years and best they could suggest is to switch off 3G, put the network selection on manual and hope for the best. A month to go on these contracts and they wont see me for dust.

13641 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Draining my LIFE!! at 21 Jan 2011 09:39:42 AM
I am going on my 5th year being a loyal vodafone customer but am really starting to loose my patience with coverage issues getting worse and everytime I call with a problem my call is dropped or it simply hangs up on me.
I have spent my entire lunch breaks on hold and when it gets to about 55mins in either the call drops or they are hanging up as they know its a complaint.
If you tell the automative system u are after a new contract it will put you through to someone, sometimes instantly but as soon as you tell them you are having issues they drop you back into the que and so the waiting process begins again, which usually ends with the call being dropped.
At first I thought it was the iPhone 4 giving me trouble but friends of mine are not experiencing half the problems I have as they are with different carriers. I would really like to get out of my 2year contract but am willing to stay with vodafone on a month to month basis in hopes they will resolve these issues. It would be greatly appreciated if someone has advice on the best way to have my contract dissolved???

13640 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Major FAIL at 21 Jan 2011 09:39:23 AM
My partner and I changed to Vodafone less than two weeks ago. As soon as we joined, we have immense difficulties accessing the internet, even in CBD Melbourne. To top it off, my partners iphone, which was less than 1 week old shut down. We went to two seperate Vodafone stores, had to wait half an hour both times to be served by customer service, who tried unsuccessfully to solve the problem. We went home and tried to reboot the phone, still not working. We told one representative three times that we had tried all these things and then were told that they couldn't help us, wasn't their problem and it would easily be fixed. I mentioned to them that it was a faculty product and I was told that the phone was given to us in working order, implying that we had broken the phone. To top it off we were then told that we had to contact Apple ourselves to sort out the problem, all this within two weeks of joining Vodafone. We went to Apple, service was FANTASTIC and within 10mins, were told that the phone had major hardware malfunction and had a new phone!!! Vodafone, you should take a leaf out of their book. Vodafone, shame shame shame.

No Coverage in our house in Northcote - walk out to the front yard and coverage picks up again, my partner has an iphone and the problems get worse unable to check e-mails, doesnt receive SMS or MMS for hours if at all, calls drop out and often sounds like he is talking under water. they are only a sample of the issues - seriously looking into alternative provider atm.

Alright, so before going on a vacation out of the country I call the customer care and ask them about the roaming charges. The customer care dude tells me everything but doesn't tell anything about the data charges on roaming. Guess what, I'm charged $83 for 8 megabytes of net surfing. When I call back and ask them what is this shit! More than $10 per MB of data?!!They said it's standard across all service providers, but since you were not informed about it by the call center guy, we are gonna waive off $20. So, you still need to pay $6.3 per MB of data. Is this Sane or what? And next thing I know is, they don't waive off a dime irrespective of offering that $20 waiver. So, they are asking me to pay all of 83 bucks.

13626 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Horrid at 21 Jan 2011 09:31:42 AM
I went to use my phone and it was disconnected, I had rang and after taking over and hour to get it soughted, as I could not understand the person I was talking to. I had told them that I had paid by direct debit to which they organised, and was ringing to let them know that the money had come out and I could prove it by bank statements. I faxed the bank statements through as they advised me to do, and that they would contact me. 2 hours later, my phone was still disconnected so I rang them back, and they stated that they had not received my fax, however records indicate that it had gone through fine from my end. Cut a long story short I had to ring them three times. So it ended up been approx 6 hours without a phone. I then rang back and threatened to take it to Consumer Affairs. My phone was back on within 10 mins after that. Absolutely Useless Vodafone. Not any credit back, and letter of apology, after they then realised they were wrong! You should not be allowed to provide this service, I can now only speak highly of Telstra and Optus! Goodbye Vodafone, its a pleasure to be leaving you!

Reception poor!! Pretty much as soon as u leave Melbourne reception struggles in small country towns, once my contract is up at the end of year I'll be going with a different provider. They have great deals but I would rather pay extra to get better reception from a relates or optus!!
21 Jan 2011 09:29:44 AM: Telstra I mean not relates!!

13616 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is totally fail.....0 out of 10 at 21 Jan 2011 09:26:12 AM
I have signed contract before 2 month and I am facing coverage problem from day one. I made so many complaints but they are not able to solve problem. They have just answer our networking team is working you will get better coverage soon.
In my case, they made investigated two times but still same problem.most of time my mobile is in no service.
I think they don't care about customers because they shamelessly say cancel the service.
Final thing,thanks to vodafail.com

Hi I can't wait till both our contract's run out in 2 months, for the past nearly 2 years, it has been constant drop outs, and lack of coverage. When visiting Lancefield/Romsey there is no coverage. When I complained to some locals, they said "you aren't with Vodafone are you? It doesn't work here"
As I'm going to be visiting there regularly this year I can't wait until I can go with someone else who offers a decent service for the $$ we pay. Also had problems with late voicemails & texts, and when signing up got a 10% discount on the contract, with 2 months free, this has never happened, gave up being on hold and talking to several different people who all promised to fix our account, never have got the 2 free months, and no 10% discount. Absolutely hopeless. Think we might have to go back to Telstra, they are rip offs but at least you get the service you expect.

13596 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is a load of garbage at 21 Jan 2011 09:18:04 AM
I just got the new iphone with vodafail 6 days ago. Was told when I got the phone that if the coverage was bad either in my place of work or my home that I would have cause to cancel my contract. Came to work and guess what.. no service! I work in East Melbourne. Have now spent a total of 3 hours and 14 minutes dealing with them on the phone and have been told that yes we do have problems with our coverage, but you need to wait 5 business days for us to 'investiage' your claim. I have spoken with 7 different people on the phone and have got nowhere. What was interesting was that they kept on trying to offer me better plans or free stuff. I am on a $49 plan, and they offered to upgrade me to the $70 plan for free, not bill me for 2 months, and also give me a credit. I asked how this would help me when I GET NO SERVICE!!! What a complete joke. I have signed up for the class action law suit against them and am going to take this as far as I can. I want out as soon as possible, and I will never ever recommend them to anyone.

I got my handset online from the Vodafone store. When I had a problem, I went to a bricks and mortar store and they said they couldn't help me because I had purchased it online. Some months later I wanted to buy a new battery for a popular Blackberry handset and the Vodafone store told me that none of the Vodafone stores in the Melbourne CBD had the battery in stock. Talk about useless.

I regularly catch the train from Melbourne to Bendigo and whilst on the train I get no reception on either 3G or GPRS and yet I see other people happily talking and emailing. I have tried with several handsets with the same lack of result. My contract is up soon, so no more Vodafone for me.

13580 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Moderate at 21 Jan 2011 09:10:28 AM
My reception in my apartment literally went to nothing for approx. 4 days in December. I'm assuming because they were doing their rolling repairs. I switch to 2G and it worked. But I pay for 3G not 2G.

My real anger comes from all the stories of people ringing up and getting bills credited after argueing with them for a long time. I'm not a confrontational person, I don't want to ring up and abuse staff and ask to speak to managers just to get a credit on my bill. They should just give everyone a credit on their bills until the problem is fixed.
