Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

16802 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ugh! at 15 Apr 2011 03:47:11 PM
Send in to voda feedback ---> this afternoon at work, a colleague who's not as technical as I or has a firm of a grasp on the English language asked me to assist with this phone. After setting up internet access on his phone a few days before, he asked if I could assist once again because internet had stopped working.
As the correct APN was selected and a reboot did not resolve the issue, I contacted mobile customer care. All I asked for was the APN settings for mobile internet, I didn't request to discuss specific account information or anything else that would violate privacy act stipulations. However I was told that you needed to verify the account before these details could be given, dumbfounded by this ridiculousness I requested to speak with a supervisor who sang the same tune, however did advise that the information was available on Vodafone's website. I kindly asked that he read the details from the website, this request was refused.

I thought you as organisation were aiming to lift your customer service standards, not perpetuate the bad reputation that you already have. A customer who is on the phone, who cannot access the internet is told that we cannot provide the information that is not protected by law and is openly available to the world, and you won't help out a customer by giving that information over the phone.

Well I may not be able to move my colleague off your network, but I can and do request that my service be terminated at the end of the current billing cycle.
Account number 70xxxxxxx is to be disconnected at the end of the current billing cycle. You may call me on 0416xxxxxx to confirm this if you wish.

I moved houses about 4 months ago. I moved about 8 mins drive from where I was living before (I live in a large suburb of Melbourne). You'd think that there would be no difference in reception barely 10 mins drive away - but I barely have one bar of reception on my phone! Sure, dropouts were a big problem before I moved, but at least I had pretty much full reception at my other place... now i get both dropouts AND crap reception IN THE MIDDLE OF F@&KING SUBURBIA!!! Thanks Vodafail - been with you for over 5 years, Telstra - here I come!

Really totally dissapointed in the very poor internet connection Vodafone has.

I'm in a $69 cap per month, I get 3 Giga of Data every month but its just useless!!!!!!!!!

Almost everytime it fails to connect and I have to refresh, it connects, then it fails, then it connects again...

I wonder why they give me much data of 3000 MB if I cant even maximize 500 MB out of it...

16764 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VERY at 12 Apr 2011 12:48:15 PM
I spent an hour and a half in a vodafone store (there was no wait, it just took them that long to deal with my enquiry). I had to get out of my plan because it was not working properly (no reception). Ended up getting a parking fine while I was in the store (nevr imagined it could take so long!). I noticed the store attendants had to call the same help desk that I was calling for weeks beforehand - and they couldn't understand them either lol.. plus, they got transferred no less than 4 times (that I happened to hear!)... I actually feel sorry for the workers in the stores and even the (rather rude) helpdesk people. I blame the CEO entirely for this - 18 and 19 year old store workers really have no control over network quality, but the CEO should done his job and got it up to scratch. You can't sell 100 movie tickets if the cinema only has 50 seats.. so who are they to sell too many phone/data contracts to people when their network only supports so many... how is this behaviour not penalised by ACMA or something??
12 Apr 2011 12:49:40 PM: plus they are still selling them, there's advertising everywhere in syd and melbourne, plus on tv.

I am currently in several job application processes and have missed a few (private number) calls. I have received voicemail notifications but ALAS, the system is down. I haven't had access voicemail for at least 18 hours now. I did manage to get through to the voicemail menu about an hour ago (10am Tues April 12th) but am being told I cannot hear or access any new messages. VODAFAIL, yet again.

16760 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Billing at 11 Apr 2011 10:43:44 PM
Vodafone constantly gets my billing wrong. I have been unlucky enough to be with them since December. The first month was signed up on incorrect plan and given no plan credit. Result over charged 178 dollars. Second month over charged 1434 dollars third month over charged 576 dollars this month major improvement over charged 30 dollars. All this on infinite plan 45 dollars go figure that. I am at a loss at their billing system it is just pot luck. One major improvement is call wait times is low now.

16759 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Embarrassing for the Vodafone executive team at 11 Apr 2011 10:20:03 PM
I'm currently in the middle of a two year corporate voice and data plan, and I've been a Vodafone customer for several years. After continuous network issues since Nov. 2010 in the Melbourne CBD, suburbs, home and interstate I called Vodafone in Jan. 2011 and was given a vague assurance that a software update was in progress and would address my issues.

I've seen NO improvement after several months, so I'm trying to exit my plan with no penalties. Of course Vodafone's customer service matches the quality of service of their communications network - APPALLING. After calling them in early April to cancel my contract, I was not provided with a reference number even though I requested one, and then I received an email from Vodafone stating that they had not heard from me since I renewed my contract in Oct. 2010 and they could not terminate my contract without any evidence of problems.

Have they not seen the video their CEO posted on YouTube? Have their short memories erased all the recent and very bad media publicity? This company is UNBELIEVABLE.

I've since lodged a complaint with the TIO, but still there is no improvement from Vodafone's customer service (in fact it is getting worse). I'm continously asked to provide specific examples of VOICE drop outs (they seem to have forgotten that I've been paying them to also provide a DATA service over the last six months and it has been unreliable). Vodafone is also oblivious to the fact that I'm busy and don't have time to track details of call drop outs.

According to Vodafone I got it wrong somewhere, but I thought when you signed up for a telecommunications service you should get reliable service, and the provider could track and monitor coverage!

Interrogate and frustrate the paying customer even futher, what a great approach to customer service in the middle of a BIG PR disaster that is disseminating the Vodafone brand - this company is absolutely beyond belief.

Vodafone has obviously not learnt anything in the last several months. Can someone send Vodafone's executive team of clowns back to the circus?

Looking forward to getting off my plan at some point (my complaint is with the 'resolutions' team) and being able to contact friends, family, clients and colleagues when I WANT to, access the internet, check email and update my calendar when I NEED to - not when Vodafone's joke of a network decides to work.

My advice: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER sign up with Vodafone no matter how cheap or attractive their deals or plans are. This is not even a case of 'you get what you pay for' - it is 'you get a whole lot less than what you pay for'.

Can't wait to switch to Telstra. More expensive maybe, but at least I'll have reliable coverage.

16751 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Stupidly massive fail at 11 Apr 2011 02:23:13 PM
Once again, vodafone has failed...i cannot access my voicemail, it states that the user is not available.... and could have important messages on there. They said could be 24 hours wait. What a freeeeekin joke. it shouldn't take them that long to fix seriously. All they compensated me for is 10 mins of talk time and 10 free texts...like WHOOOOPPEEE DOOOO, it could cost me a new job. I will definitely cancel after this mess.

16743 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Dropped calls during 2G/3G handoff on the iPhone 4 at 10 Apr 2011 09:27:33 PM
In my case (iPhone 4 user), the dropped call issue seems to be related to 2G to 3G "handoff" (and visa versa). If this is an iPhone problem, why did Vodafone sign off on the technicals related to the handset (after all, Vodafone has over 380 million customers worldwide, surely that means that they would have significant leverage over Apple/Jobs to get the product right!!).
13 Apr 2011 12:11:02 AM: If they don't sign up for iPhone they'll lose a lot of the market who are suckered into the iPhone's hype machine. Unfortunately Apple's technology is lazy and unpolished, but they still sell.

since being sold out by 3 to vodafone the reception on my phone is nothing less than appalling, cant wait for my cotract to end. pick up you act vodafone
13 Apr 2011 12:13:07 AM: It was a 50/50 merger and the network is still entirely separate until 2012
14 Apr 2011 09:19:55 AM: It seems strange that since 3 has merged with voda, now VHA, reception on my mobile is also appalling, in addition to having experience 6 delayed "missed-call" notifications, some over 48 hours later. I reported the 6 instances, and 3 support have still NOT identified the cause and resolution. they ring me daily but without ANY concrete findings - what a useless bunch of support and technical people - they should be sacked - its been more than a month since the issues were reported - extremely incompetent Three support!!!!!!

16724 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very fail at 8 Apr 2011 05:28:02 PM
Hi Maree,

Thank you for your response but I'm very disappointed in your answer. I was under the impression that National Roaming represented a sharing of networks throughout Victoria so that if one network has no coverage in a particular area it could utilise other networks to expand their coverage. I work in the Dandenong ranges in Melb. I cannot get any signal in Olinda , Sassafras, Kalorama, Silvan and all surrounding areas. Vodafone 's coverage stops at Upper Ferntree Gully as I approach the Dandenongs..What really frustrates and annoys me is that my wife who is with the 3 network and friends who are with Telstra or Optus have perfect coverage in all the aforementioned areas. Vodafone recently merged with 3 so why on earth can't you share their signal? My mobile says "No Signal" yet when I search for other networks I invariably get Telstra or Optus but I can't use them. I have been stranded in the hills on two occasions and have had to walk for kilometers because I had no means of communication. I am unable to contact my employer or fellow employees aaaarrrrr!!!!! I am stuck with a 2 year contract which I never would have entered into if I had been aware of Vodafones poor coverage.

I find it outrageous to see Vodafone constantly spending thousands of dollars on promoting sales with new plans and new mobiles and seemingly doing very little to improve their quality of service. How about siphoning off some of that sales promotion money into technical improvements such as expanding your coverage. What's the point of gaining all those new customers when they end up becoming disgruntled and deserting Vodafone in droves because of poor service. It's a revolving door situation. The aim should be not only to gain new customers but to keep them as well

Please pass this on to your technical team in the slender hope that they may act on the information I have provided you.

Regards

Andrew

16722 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Three Support is useless at 8 Apr 2011 12:09:31 PM
I am with Three and have reported 6 instances of delayed "missed-call" notifications to Three Support. The last instance was on Saturday 2 April 2011. The support person informed me that their network people do not work 24*7 to resolve networking issues and that I will receive a call either on Monday or Tuesday with their findings. Todate, I have not received ANY feedback as to why I receive delayed "missed-call" notifications and neither been contacted by the networking team. The Three support person advised me last night that he does not have direct contact with the networking team and therefore does not know what they have found. He agreed their lack of response is "unreasonable" however he also has done nothing to seek feedback. He is the front person I have to deal with and in my view, Three Support is totally useless, incapable and do not care. As long as they can "close" their support calls in 24 hours, thats all that matters, regardless a resolution has not been found!!! I for one will be leaving Three - since they have merged with Vodafone their service has taken a nose-dive.... I certainly won't join Voda....was their customer many years ago and vowed never to rejoin them - unfortunately, Vods & Three have merged - not a good move for Three as they have now inherited Voda's useless services!!!
I think its about time Voda & Three issues are reported to the news media and publicised nationally.

on a contract til the end of this year and i will be going to telstra. i lose service just siiting in my lounge rrom, call drop outs, call fauilures wont dial the number. my wife would ring my phone it would go straight to voiuce mail no call or notification she now sends a TEXT if this happens cant wait to go to telstra, all this seems to have happened or gotten worse since vodafone took over the 3 network. just hopeless if you ask me. Come late november bye bye vodafail.....ggggrrrrr
7 Apr 2011 09:46:25 PM: You don't need to wait til then. Call up and complain, saying that if the problem isn't fixed (which it won't be), you'll complain to the TIO unless you are released from your contract without any charges. Worked with me last week; they also gave me the next 6 months free (out of the 4 i have left-i essentially have 2 months extra, free).

16705 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mobiles at 7 Apr 2011 01:05:17 PM
I will keep the company that I work for annonomous but we have been through so much pain last year with Vodafone. ( we are one of australia's leading companies in the auto sector ) We moved our entire mobile fleet of 60+ mobiles and 50+ wireless modems to vodafone in an attempt to save some dollars during the GFC. before we did this we spent months working with VF who assured us there coverage was upto speed and they had spent over 35 million in the last year upgarding there network. The biggest concern for us was coverage in rural area's as many of our staff travel into rural areas across the country.

As soon as we migrated to Vodafone the problems began. We went from recieveing maybe one or two related mobile helpdesk calls a week, to roughly 30 or 40 requests a day. Our staff after a few days were so fed up, that we had recieved some of the most abusive calls and emails from staff. The problems ranged from ridicously poor coverage. ( even all staff in our office in the CBD had limited coverage ), handsets breaking down, wireless modem software constantly crashing, billing errors, numbers churned incorrectly, Vodafone support having no expertise in mobile sector and so on. We even had some of our major events crippled when we had staff with no communications. We cannot put a price on how much that simply effected our events, canmpains and lines with customers.

As far as vodafone were aware they were meeting there SLA's but they had no idea of how to record when there devices had no coverage. After 1 year of abserloute pain we have finally moved our fleet back to telstra and our telco problems have disapeered.

basically we ended up loosing a lot of money to move back to Telstra but it was worth every cent. seeing the back of vodafone is the best news all year.

My advice. Stay away from Vodafone, Stay very far away.
If you are a home consumer looking for cheap rates and not to concerened about coverage then vodafone may be a good option, otherwise stay away.

Just signed up to Voda a few weeks ago barely getting any signal at home rang through tech said that i could be experiencing loss of signal till july this year cant recieve calls going straight to voicemail. Just sent a sms to a friend he got it 2 hours later. i just signed up wasnt aware it was this bad....Not one but two numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 Apr 2011 08:21:38 PM: hi, i experiecned similiar issues. i signed up last week, and even though where i live the coverage is fine i spend half me week in the outer suburbs past eltham eg kangeroo ground/ panton hill. the man that signed me up informed me the coverage for calls and txt would be fine, it wasnt! there was ZERO signal. i range the customer call centre who said i would have to pay ontop of my cap for EXTRA roaming to telstra. so i went back down to the dealer where i signed up and pleaded my case. they were wonderful! they got my fone unlocked form my contract free of charge and then the call centre was exellent in switching me over to 3 mobile, (as even though they are run ny the same country i am sure oyu are all aware they have a seperate 3G network and also roam to telstra free of charge in the country areas). i have not ben up to panton hill, but many of my friends say the reception is ok, i will be able to call and text at least! so the moral of the story for oyu is to go call the centre first and see what they have to say, if they are not helpful go through the poeple at the shop and get them to call. you may be abel to do something similiar, and by all accounts three seems to have the better coverage even in 3G areas, not perfect but better than vodafail's! :)

Since Friday I have had issues with mobile broadband, I am still connected however the service keeps dropping out. Web pages won't load, Skype dies constantly, MSN just logs out then it comes back and goes constantly. I'm currently on my 4th call to them. I have tested the modem on 2 computers, have replaced the modem and the sim but nothing works. I have also tried it the next suburb over and same issues though not quite as bad. Doing my head in as I can't work. I'm based inner city Melbourne, anyone else having the same issues. I have never had this issue before my service has always been good.
11 Apr 2011 03:52:07 PM: I am having exactly the same issue.....have been using vodafone mobile braodband no problem for last two years then as of last Monday everything keeps dropping out. I work in Hawthorn and it is seriously disrupting my business. Upon speaking to the Customer Support people they said they will repsond to my issue in 48-72 hours......an absolute joke!!!!

16684 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor Indian Customer Service at 5 Apr 2011 08:32:44 PM
I am with 3 and thier indian call centre gives me the sh@@@ no one speaks english and their accents are dull and poor and everytime I go to the 3 store I have to explain my problems they then try to refer to me to their indian call centre. However I ask the staff you speak to them and they refuuse to do so
5 Apr 2011 11:34:59 PM: We have 4 Vodafone accounts for several years now. Our problems started August last year. Problems like no service signal and call drop-outs. It took as much as an hour's wait to reach customer call center in India. Once connected, we cannot recall when we had problem communicating with customer relation people. They speak excellent English. Talk to them nicely, appreciate their help, and they try their best to help. We would have canceled our contracts with Vodafail and moved to some other provider if it was not for helpful attitude of call center employees. You just have to be as pleasant and respectful as you will when calling local call center based here in Australia. Talk to them like sh@@@ and they will give it back to you in kind.

I was having problem unlocking phone. Call center promised to call me back in 3 days. I received unlock instruction in less than 48 hours.

6 Apr 2011 08:14:04 AM: They speak very good English. Better than most Australians. Maybe you need racial tolerance lessons.
6 Apr 2011 11:18:59 AM: nothing to do with being racist - simply after some English speaking service!
6 Apr 2011 10:19:55 PM: Accent and language are 2 entirely different things. You won't find 1 employee who can't speak sufficient English.

My corporate account Vodafone doesn't work at home, on the train and now isn't working in the office. Called Vodafone, they advise I need to switch off 3G as their 3G tower is full. Seriously, that's their 'resolution'.

I dream about the day I wake up to find my number ported to Telstra - imagine the communication possibilities a working mobile could give you..!
5 Apr 2011 05:35:34 PM: Sadly we read the above all too often, change from 3G to something else just to get the bloody thing to work!

My grandfather was dying in his nursing home this last week and i couldnt ring anyone to let them know, had to ask for other peoples phones.....

so....rang vodafone.....they were polite, spoke well and helpful so far.....ive been given 50% off my bill for the next 3 months and have been told to ring back in a week or so if no improvement (apparently the tech team are working on it) and i can arrange to be released from my contract....

I traveled from Echuca to Port Fairy on the weekend and only had reception at Echuca, St Arnaud, Horsham and Port Fairy. Vodafone can not be defined as a network but a select series of outposts.

As for Sunday a truly utter debacle where the Hospital Switch could not get hold of an on-call specialist to come in for an emergency case. Being on Vodafone and oncall could endanger patients lives.

Network "Congested" for 4 hours at the moment.
I am sending SMS messages to my wife 8 times per message, including ones I sent 4 hours ago. She has text me, getting nothing. Calls either get engaged tone or congestion message. To top it off, a real estate agent was trying to call me today to get a final offer on my dream home, couldnt get me and guess what?? I got beaten on the house. Damn you Vodafone, I will take this as far as i can. TIO already contacted, your useless service team contacted and I will crush you.

No reception on my mobile when I am in my office which is in the inner suburbs of Melbourne - my colleagues who are all with different carriers do not have this problem. Internet on my iPhone is so slow that it is often unusable - I just have to wait until I am at home and can use my iinet wireless. I will definitely be changing carriers when my contract finishes.

16633 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pretty fail at 3 Apr 2011 01:47:35 PM
I've never been able to access the My Vodafone web service to check my spend. It's pretty annoying, but it was never a problem until last week.

My girlfriend's in Malaysia and I've needed to make international calls, which are included in my cap. I was told multiple times (three seperate occasions) by Vodafone reps from the Bourke/Swanston Street store in Melbourne that my credit refreshed on the 14th of every month - thinking this was correct, I made a long international call on the 14th of March.

The info they gave me was incorrect, my credit refreshed on the 15th, and I went over my cap by 330 dollars after they'd marked it up.

I went in the next day, and was told by a rep named Alex that he'd have it sorted out for me in 48 hours. He said he'd call. After 10 days, he hadn't. So I went in again, and spoke to a rep named Mai, who said she'd have it sorted out for me within 24 hours. Didn't hear from her for a week.

Went in again, and it turns out one of their teams had sent an email regarding my bill saying that they were going to apply my 330 dollar call to my current month's allowance, having not told me for more than 17 days of regular usage. This, obviously would have sent me over again. I told the guy - Alan, from the South Melbourne store - that was completely inappropriate, seeing as I came in to resolve it the day after it happened. He told me the same old shit - he'd have it resolved in 24 hours.

Surprise surprise, next day I didn't hear from him. I tried calling the South Melbourne store literally 30+ times that day, and eventually gave up and called 1555 to take my chances. I told that stupid voice recognition thing "CANCEL" and it sent me through to customer retention. I explained my situation to the lady, threatened to go to the TIO and after about ten minutes of going through what had happened she refunded me the money.

So the lesson to take from this is -

The staff at the Bourke/Swanston street store are fucking retarded, don't care about customer service and don't take issues seriously. Alan from the South Melbourne store called me three days after I'd got it resolved on the phone to try and take credit for getting me the call refunded, until I told him I'd had to do it myself and hung up.

The main lesson is just scream bloody murder and TIO until they give you a reasonable outcome. I don't like doing that, and it's important to stress to the reps you deal with that you're not angry at them, but the situation and the service you've received. But my threat to go to the TIO wasn't an empty one, and you should definitely do it if they give you the run around like they did me.

Good luck

Matt
4 Apr 2011 07:38:43 AM: I feel your pain. Unfortunately most telco stores (regardless of carrier) are set up purely for sales and don't have sufficient in-store processes in place for escalations. Generally customer enquiries are pointed towards in call centers. So whilst staff should definitely take responsibility for their own customers, they aren't exactly given the right support. On that note, some stores do have great customer service so I may be wrong.

It's my wife's phone (I'm with a different carrier), and its been going on for months, delayed massages, poor coverage, calls dropping out, and now she's in QLD, I need to pick my daughter up from friends, and i've been trying to phone her for a few hours to find out where and what the friends phone number is. Ok so bad planning on my part, I should have had the number and probably could have pre-arranged it - but I didn't think I needed to. Friend is probably trying to call her to with a "where is he?".

Ditching Vodafone later today, contract payout pain, but its not good enough. Aaarrrggghhhh!

16612 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Insurance at 1 Apr 2011 10:56:23 PM
Apart from the constant disappointments mentioned above, I made an insurance claim some months ago to replace a 6 gig iPhone, as the new model iphone was released at the time of the claim they could not supply one. Three months later I was finally told why it was that they could not supply me with a 6gig phone and asked me to pay extra for the 12 gig phone.I refused and asked for a replacement phone and they told me that the replacement phone would be sent to me with in a week, a flat out lie. Two weeks later I was again waiting on the phone for how many hours I can't remember cut of multiple times and transferred to the wrong people multiple times only to be placed on hold again for hours on end.

Finally I managed to speak to to a floor manager he looked at my file and told me that my claim had not been processed and I would receive a new phone in a week, during the conversation I had my address changed to forward the phone to.

Two weeks later I am on the phone again for hours on end being transferred to the wrong people only to be told that the phone was sent to my previouse address. You would think I am joking but I happened again two weeks later.

The hole time was being charged a monthly bill plus insurance including the premimum for the claim at this time I told the floor manager that I was in the process of launching action with the ombudsman and they had two days to get the phone to me.

For my trouble vodafone gave me three months credit and up graded my phone to a 16gig phone
And removed the insurance premium but could not supply me with an adjusted bill.

Close to six month later I received my replacement phone, I asked them to remove the insurance coverage yet it is still on my bill. My contract is now finished so I tried to cancel the pan to day during my lunch break but I only have an hour on my lunch break and it wasn't enough time to get through I had to go back to work.

Rubbish.

22 Apr 2011 12:49:08 PM: Never having had insurance for any phone, i don't know what is covered. Logic would dictate your bills should be paid under the insurance policy until your insurance provided replacement phone arrives. So I would re-read your insurance policy carefully to fully understand the cover and then call the Insurance Industry Ombudsman if the stated cover was not fully provided. I would also ring the Telephone Industry Ombudsman for failure of your provider to resolve your insurance issue as they were the brokers of that policy and bear some responsibility.

As a employee of Vodafone in the contact centre, I feel for the many people who I deal with everyday over the same issues. Thankfully im with optus, and have been for 15 years and no way am I switching just because of my employer.

Having worked in call centres since the begining of time I take pride when countless times a day I hear "Thank you! FINALLY some one who can speak english and understand my point of view" Sadly im not superwoman and cant take all your calls personally. I can assure you that you get nothing short of 100% empathy, respect and fantastic service from me.

I wish the same could be said about my co workers. I do liken the place to working at a zoo sometimes and am in total horror over the rudeness and attitude I hear them coughing out.

On behalf of my co workers, im sorry for the crap service you recieve. On behalf of my employer im sorry for the crap service and "were working on it" just isnt good enough!

Please dont think all call centre employees are crap, there are good ones out there (like me).

When you say "i want to disconnect! you guys suck" and you hear the silence on the other end of the phone, rest assured I heard you and im not politely ignoring you, Im just not allowed to say "Hell Yea! Totally agree! Go Optus man!" because I have a home loan to pay and those words would see me in the unemployment line.

Oh and a final note from the inside.....I hate Lara, We all hate Lara..no Vodafone employee (except maybe the idiot who created her) likes Lara!
3 Apr 2011 04:52:34 PM: I hope you don't feel to bad most of us are upset with vodalost and the lies, and yes customer care sucks, but as Australians we expect help and the true, we would be glad to talk to an Aussie who can tell it as it is to another Australian, good or bad. But when you deal with vodamumbai who no fault to the good people in india, as they could only act on the little training they receive to deal with Australians. Vodadodge have lowered there standards by not monitoring what Mumbai tells Aussie customers...so saying that I'm sorry if you feel bad and I respect you for speaking out. As far as anything else goes vodasuck has failed you at the call centre, us as customers. I have been with vodafone for almost 13 years!! I am the very definition of a loyal customer - but when my calls drop out 3 or 4 times within 15minutes, I am not happy.
when people inform me my phone was "off" when I almost never turn my phone off, that also doesn't make me happy...
The problems I have been having with vodafone kind of make it pointless even having a mobile?

Even worse - when I rang vodafone to ask when my contract expired (to decide what I'm going to do next) they insisted on a reason before they would give me the information!!
when i explained I was assessing my options, instead of just telling me when my contract was up they transferred me to their technical department who then went on to say they were unable to answer my query and would I like to be transferred to someone else?

Sorry vodafone - you're just not worth it anymore....

Why is reception so bad along major railway lines? Traveling from Lilydale to Melbourne CBD there's 3G coverage at Lilydale itself, then it cuts in and out for the next 15 minutes, making it useless. Then coverage becomes OK but 3G is still lost at Nunawading (approaching road underpass), Box Hill (arriving in enclosed station) and Hawthorn.

I did find this handy however when I was using a Vodafone GSM/2G phone, every single time it passed Surrey Hills it would lose all coverage, if I ever had anybody annoying on the phone I knew it would lose signal there!!
21 Apr 2011 07:11:17 PM: Every time i arrive are Flinders street station I lose reception and have to reset my phone to get it back. Its the middle of Melbourne's CBD how can i not have access to the mobile network!?!

Is this the only company that in 2011 provides no customer service at all other than face to face? I don't bother calling any call centres of using any online support of this company, the only way to speak to anybody is to annoy their staff in their stores, who get pissed off that you're wasting their time inquiring about your bill when they have people lined up wanting to buy iPhones. And despite being told they were updating me to a 1.5GB data limit, it still bills me an exorbitant rate for data used over 500MB.

Living in outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Have been with 3 for a few years and reception in my area was never great but there was always one or two bars and it would switch to other providers when necessary. Since Vodafone took over, the reception has been much worse and the phone is constantly switching to No Service. I need to turn the phone off and back on to pick up a signal and it no longer switches to another provider when reception is poor or unavailable.
1 Apr 2011 11:24:53 AM: Samething here. My wife had a phone with 3 and even though the reception was bad, it was still ok. Now with VodaFail, shit just hits the fan...
1 Apr 2011 03:21:15 PM: I am also in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne and am experiencing exactly the same problems as you. Since the frigging merger with Voda, my reception is worse, from 3 bars to 0 with a total drop out (without moving the mobile). Also have to turn the mobile off then on to pick up a signal, which it does, then drops off again. And consequently also receive delayed missed-call messages 24 hours later, as others have reported. Whats with this crap service!!!!
11 Apr 2011 04:14:50 PM: I get this exact problem, but I live one block from the Victoria Market (Howard Street)! This never happened when it was just 3 backed up by roaming on Telstra. Fail! I'm with 3 which is now using Vodaphone networks I assume and the problem I have is that my phone regularly drops out connection (reception) during any phone call in my house(In Glen Waverley which is only <20km from the CBD) and at other various locations around Melbourne. Not only is this the case with reception, the internet connection is horrid. Even on full reception in the city my phone still loads pages very slowly if at all. I have a HTC Desire with the recent 2.2 Froyo upgrade. I hope that this message can be passed on in unison with the thousands of other complaints and something can be done and most of us are locked on contracts with this third class network.

Problems got worse and rang up vodafone, there apparently was no note and they did not know which phone I owned and they wanted me to pay the full contract.

After experiencing terribly poor data load time for several months I decided to do a speed test from speedtest.net to measure my data speed. While all around me were recording scores between 2 and 5 MBps, my iPhone 4 with Vodafail scored an amazing 0.1MBps. All the while it tells me I have 3G and full reception bars.
I travel a lot for work and need my 3G. I can't check emails, log in to work and I can't keep up to date with friends when work finishes and I have hours in the airport to wait.
Of course, tethering no longer works because I have no reception.
So I am left with no internet on my phone or laptop while frequently on the road.

I called Vodafone Customer Service when I could not log into internet only to be told after been on hold 30 minutes they had extended the expiry date of my broadband service. I asked when the problem would be resolved only to be told there is no ETA. I asked instead of an extension to provide a service I have paid for. Not impressed. Whether Im prepay or contract, Im paying for a service that is simply not working. Why should I have to swap to another provider simply to get coverage. I have called and complained countless times about the lack of reception in my home in Northcote Victoria, Being that i live in a densely populated region of metropolitan Melbourne you would suspect that my reception would be far more superior to a regional outlet, however i recently visited Rockhampton in Queensland, and even though my reception and data usage was extremely limited, i found my reception to be much better than that of my reception at home in Victoria.

I have not only called and called back countless times after several drop outs, I have attended various Vodafone retail centres to enquire about a resolution to my problem, always met with a different excuse.

To take a call at home i must step out onto my balcony and lean over railing.

FML!
1 Apr 2011 07:59:11 AM: Careful leaning over the railing! A better solution would be to contact the TIO straight away, you can find out their number on the 'How to complain' page. Vodafone usually springs into action when the TIO is chasing up your complaint.

16504 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Delayed MIssed-call Notifications at 1 Apr 2011 04:46:26 AM
In the last two weeks I have received (and reported) 5 delayed missed call notifications well over 24 hours to Three support. Delayed messages have only occurred since Vodafone and Three merged (into VHA). Three support claim they do not retain any networking logs to investigate delayed notifications if they are reported later than 24 hours which I do not believe. If I was a criminal they'd certainly be able to retrieve ANY messages (and calls) that I have made or received. My business has been affected due to the frequent delayed missed-call notifications and I will take the matter up with the Telecommunications Ombudsman.
1 Apr 2011 09:56:32 AM: I was promised that a Three upport person will call me every 2nd day (for a month) for a status update on my delayed missed-call notifications. Last call I received was 3 days ago - cannot rely on Three support commitment at all!!!!

16500 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Consistently billed incorrect amount for internet service. at 1 Apr 2011 01:06:35 AM
I am getting rid of Vodafone this month after 2 years of pain. (HIGH FIVES ALL ROUND) All I can say is that from the very first month I was billed incorrectly for my $39.00 monthly plan. The situation became ridiculous when I went overseas for 6 seeks and they sent me a $290.00 dollar bill for the month I didn't even use the service at all. I am on an 8Gb monthly plan and I should pay $20 every GB I go over that amount. Last months bill states that I used 9Gb and therefore I am being charged for $230.00. This means that I am being charged $191.00 for the additional 1 Gb. When I called vodafone to complain I was advised that the additional charges are because I receive a paper bill in the mail. I explained that the paper bill is an additional fee of only $4.00 but the Indian guy kept repeating to me that the maths where correct and I have been charged correctly. But this is just one of the many tales of woe I have been through with this hopeless company. At one stage last year they told me I owed them $1600.00 for 3 months use. But what really pissed me off is that in the past 2 years I would say I have spent overall 80-90 hours trying to resolve these issues - Thats more than 2 working weeks of my life wasted that I will not get back. And I don't even want to go into the stories about my coverage for both internet and mobile phones. So my advise is don't even bother calling their call centre if you have any issues. Call the ombudsman and then someone from the Vodafone NZ call centre will call you back and wipe away all your bullshit fees. Also please tell all you friends to stay the hell away from this company as you will end up with third world service in every way. In conclusion I would just like to say "GO TO HELL VODAFONE, YOU PISSED ME OFF FOR 2 YEARS YOU ROTTEN BASTARDS BUT NOW I AM FREEEEEEEEEE".

16495 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is useless at 31 Mar 2011 10:59:57 PM
Signed up with vodafone just before new years 2011 and I regretted it after a month. Paid my bill using their credit card phone system. Apparently they never received any payment from me and I was still owing $68.00. Rang for weeks and kept getting told to FAX (not email, not mail)..FAX my bank statements stating that I paid the bill on the proclaimed date. It clearly showed on the statement that the money came out of my account and was sent to the vodafone company.

After receiving my faxes, they called me saying that "this does not tell me it came to us" which is bollocks because it has their company name on the statement. After continuous weeks of back and forth arguments with customer care, I ended up speaking to someone in the higher end department. She said that it was possible the money went to SOMEBODY ELSES account instead of my own. She said "For now, I will adjust your account so you owe nothing"... 2 weeks later they must of found my money and added it as credit to my account for the next month to be already paid.

IMO mistakes like this can happen but the way customer care handled this situation was pathetic and wasted more of my money on fuel to get to a fax machine, money to pay to use the fax machine, money to get proper bank statements (NAB charge $4.00 per statement), and last but not least, a waste of my time when i had more important things to do instead of trying to explain to some idiot over the phone for an hour nearly everyday that i paid the god damn bill.

It's taken longer than expected to get a response to your payment. Please do not attempt to pay again right now as your payment may have been received. To confirm your payment status, please wait at least 2 hours and log in to My Vodafone. If it wasn't successful, we recommend you try paying again at that time. We apologise for any inconvenience.

16451 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme fail in Macleod, VIC and also on the train to Melbourne City at 28 Mar 2011 11:01:38 PM
Unbelievably poor reception in Macleod, VIC, even though the web-site mentions perfectly fine reception (http://www.vodafone.com.au/tools/checker/index.htm) around the region.

I'm personally lucky if I get one or two bars of reception from the front bedroom, whilst my wife is able to get one or two bars of reception from the kitchen.

Apparently, coverage is also meant to be good all of the way into the city of Melbourne, but reception drops out completely whilst on the train at areas of Eaglemont, Ivanhoe and Jolimont (in particular).

Obviously, a severe breach of contract and will be looking into ways to cease this contract and transfer to a reliable service network. Very disappointing.....

Highest regards,
Steve.

Since moving from mornington to frankston two weeks ago the reception on my mobile and broadband is practically non-existent.i rely on both to keep in touch with my family here and in the UK.Continual dropout,.no service etc at all times of the day and night.I was assured by the salesman in mornington when I bought my contract that moving to frankston would not affect the reception and yet when I rang the customer service I was told that yes, Frankston is a bad area and I should be able to get out of my contract.I haven't heard from them for a week now but I will not be silent. I am a retired teacher, living alone andI need my internet!!!

16449 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is extremely at 28 Mar 2011 07:43:48 PM
After barring my outgoing calls, I tried all day to contact them to have this problem rectified. Everytime I rang, I would get to the recorded message of the customer service reps name, then it would go silent then cut out. Finally I get a hold of them and they tell me I have to call back and speak to collections because it is their error and only they can lift my bar.
I am on hold for 3 hours and 44 minutes before the line just cuts out.
NO RESOLVE, NOTHING!
So frustrated!

16394 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Semi-fail at 23 Mar 2011 01:03:02 PM
Just received an early upgrade offer from Vodafone and thought, "Wow, they're doing something to make up for the pain lately". Turns out it's an offer in conjunction with Nokia only so I can only upgrade free if I take a Nokia. Given that the best Nokia smartphone option, the N8, is way behind the competitors it's really not much of an offer. I would think it's better to not give people a "special offer" when it's such a mediocre one.
26 Mar 2011 09:09:14 AM: At least Vodafone are offering an early upgrade at month 16 onwards and a waiver off your contract, let's see optus do that
30 Mar 2011 12:50:31 AM: At least Optus offer a service, Vodafone do not.
31 Mar 2011 08:13:48 PM: Actually NO they don't
1 Apr 2011 08:03:49 AM: Vodafone are only offering the early upgrade to entice angry customers into being stuck with them a further 24 months. I got a letter offering me to early upgrade to the N8. Crap phone (in my opinion). HELL NO! My contract expires in August, thats when im leaving... And i thought Telstra was bad?? How wrong was I?

16393 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is progressively worse to the point of madness at 23 Mar 2011 12:49:55 PM
Melbourne CBD/Collins Street. Data drops out constantly (mobile broadband/Huawei dongle) especially when on HSDPA. After a few minutes connection, HSDPA usually shows 0 bps download and hangs. This happens day and night. The past 3 weeks its gotten worse. Constantly switches back and forth between 3G and HSDPA.

Unreliable coverage in the heart of one of Australia's largest cities. This is MELBOURNE CBD folks, not the back blocks.

I have held my tongue for the past few months, knowing that Vodafone was attempting to resolve these much publicised failures, but now I am about ready to go atomic.

This is absolutely unacceptable and a breach of its service contract. If Vodafone cannot deliver a workable service they are not entitled to market it.
23 Mar 2011 03:40:42 PM: Check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, it appears the TIO may be your next step.

16346 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is incredibly unhelpful at 18 Mar 2011 09:10:41 PM
And it's now 10pm...do we know what that means? Goodbye all customers currently on hold! I've been on hold for over 2 hours now in my attempt to speak to billing due to a duplicate payment (their fault, not mine). TWO HOURS of my life that I'll never get back, and every time I get the automated 'Hang in there, we'll be with you really soon', it makes me even angrier. I plan on heading into a store tomorrow to unleash my wrath on a human being. And to inform any customers to get out while they still can. I intend on dropping the 'O' bomb many, many times. That's right, OMBUDSMAN. Beware Voda-f-ing-fone, I'm coming to waste your time the same way you waste mine! And I plan on ensuring that you never meet your sales targets ever again. My passive aggressiveness will be visiting your stores shortly, hang on to your hats and say goodbye to your bonuses.
19 Mar 2011 06:21:29 AM: do what I do...my contract id finished...in august last year...I have been here annoying them since....thanks to this site I am getting somewhere...I sent a 3 page letter to the CEO and got an immediate response after I outlined the seriousness of what has happened...and pointed out under their Communications Licence Conditions...It has now reached the point that their licence can be questioned....
21 Mar 2011 10:38:33 PM: Hey a bit of advice, please be nice to the Vodafone staff. Most are only uni students trying to get some cash, and they don't deserve to be treated like that. It's not their fault and they're more likely to fight for you if you're nice to them.
28 Mar 2011 03:54:16 PM: Hey a bit of advice for you dipshit - 21 Mar - it doesn't matter who they are, if the service is shit, they deserve whatever they get. It's not their fault - well, you know what, they represent the company, they are part of the problem, it is their fault. It you losers don't like working for such a shit company, newsflash, get another job. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you stay there. Why do you idiots keep rolling out that excuse.
28 Mar 2011 04:51:33 PM: If you came in where I worked I will be showing you the door, you want respect and to be treated properly act like a human being and not some arrogant a**hole, unless it's the way you were brought up.
