Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

19126 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL :(((((((((((((((((( at 11 Aug 2011 07:43:48 PM
I have just started a new $29.00 cap for 1gig broadband & mobile phone.
I overused my broadband without knowing that I would be charged $600.00 a gig overuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! totalling $4000.00 because I stupidly left my computer on to download 1 show & it downloaded 20.....vodafone will now destroy my redit rating because they will not aloow me to pay it off, which is completely unreasonable!! there was never any txt notification that I had gone past my amount. there was no mention of overuse charges being absolutley insanely ridiulous!! I can not find any info on there excess use charges anywhere??
Is this even legal??? help :(
11 Aug 2011 09:44:28 PM: listen carefully here's what you do.

1. call vodafone, tell them they told you (at the time of sale) that the plan you were selecting was appropriate for you (tell them you told them your typical usuage patterns and they recommended it for you).

2. tell them you are not paying and that you want them to wipe all but the $29 you are supposed to pay (tell them it's a CAP!!)

3. Don't spend all your life arguing if them. They'll almost certainly reduce it but they'll try get as much as they can out of you. If you're happy to pay what they say, then by all means give them your hard earned cash. But otherwise, if they don't bring it to $29, file a complaint here:
http://www.tio.com.au/ComplaintForm/ComplaintFormS1.asp

4. Insist that they told you the deal you signed up for was a good one for you, given your usage. Let them know you were told it was a "CAP" and that you interpreted this to mean that you would not have to pay more, because you thought it would cut you off or taper your usage once you went over your CAP allowance - as a CAP should do.

5. Be persistent but patient. Keep in mind you do not have to pay a cent to Vodafone for as long as your complaint is with the TIO.

IF these steps do not resolve your issue, go to your administrative tribunal (http://www.qcat.qld.gov.au/), lodge a complaint (it will cost you around $30 last time I checked) and repeat the above steps in the court (don't be afraid of going to court - Vodafone tries to scare people so they have to pay their rip off bills).

Good luck, let everyone know how you go! and don't forget to tell 20 friends never to use Vodafail again!

17 Aug 2011 07:00:01 AM: 1. it is not vodafone's issue that you downloaded 20 shows instead of 1.

2. it would have been explained to you that vodafone do not send messages to tell you are going over that is your responsibility to make a MYVODAFONE account on the vodafone website so you can keep a track of your data usage.

3. your plan is not a cap so you can go over and you have obviously experience this, if you wanted something that would cut off when you got to your usage you should have gone PREPAID.

4. Vodafone do make payment plans with customers who have exceeded over the plans so they will allow you to pay it off your just being ridiculous.

5. Filing a complaint with the TIO will be pointless as your scenario is completely your own fault and vodafone are not reliable for any of these accusations - if you do call all that will happen is "if" and only if what you are saying about vodafone not setting up a payment plan with you is true then the TIO will just make them set one up ( a complete waste of your time)

6. NO CUSTOMER IS EVER TOLD THAT THE $29 CAP IS A CAPPED PLAN - walk into any vodafone store and ask a staff member is this plan a capped plan, i guarantee you will get told NO because its not so lying and saying that you were missinformed will get you no where.

7. vodafone is not trying to scare you into not going to court, but you will have to have hard evidence that what ever this bo-zo who gave you this advise is saying is ther truth which is very doubtful claiming missinformation is not how you will get results.

VODAFONE IS NOT TARNISHING YOU CREDIT RATING - YOUR DOING IT TO YOURSELF.
18 Aug 2011 02:00:08 PM: Regardless if the guy download 20 shows instead of 1. Why the hell is vodaphone allowing so much data overhead then?
18 Aug 2011 04:19:10 PM: Still -- even if it was 20gig, $4000 is extortion.
What's your cut, mate?
29 Aug 2011 08:07:10 PM: Telstra have a $300 cap on excess usage - signed up for their $49/mo/7Gb plan - I queried what happened if I went REALLY over my limit big time. Maximum $300 on excess data usage. A sting but not a major sting...... at least Telstra makes is easy to check your usage, and it shows a bar graph instead of expecting you to add up numbers/figures.....
31 Aug 2011 08:07:55 PM: I agree with you, a sting of $300 is still going to hurt, but it's nothing like $4000. That can put people under extreme financial pressure. It's unscrupulous. Good on Telstra.
