Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

21203 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Be carefull recharging useing the phone app on pre paid with credit cards. at 26 Mar 2012 07:15:22 PM
Today i sent 2 requests to recharge my pre paid mobile account via my phone useing my CC Card ($100). The money had been taken out twice but still no credit...They gave me $10 credit so i could call my bank to confirm and yes my bank had confirmed it then i got got disconnected as the $10 had run out. Vodafone said i had to fax through the details and i will get the money back in 6 to 11 working days and no compensation in anyway. I just had to suck it up.
Even though ive wasted a few hours on the phone with them and not been able to make any more calls all day because i didnt want to give them any more of my money. Not a happy.

Just looked at the Vodafone Coverage Checker and it says no coverage for Kadina & Moonta area's so whats going on with the coverage map displaying no coverage for these areas to date.
Supposed to be a coverage improvement but the coverage map previously showed coverage for these areas, now it shows nothing in Kadina & Moonta SA

21199 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Like the Qld Labor party at 26 Mar 2012 11:11:11 AM
The only organisation loosing its customers faster than Vodafone is the the Labor party in the Queensland election. Some similarities are deceiving their customers, lying, covering up, making promises that aren't kept (its been 2 years that they have said that they have been improving the network)and a complete lack of service and support. Fortunately, I have only 2 months to go and it goodbye Vodafone forever.
21198 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Facebook charges but do have Facebook account at 26 Mar 2012 09:51:17 AM
I have been with vodafone for over there months and continue to receive Facebook charges on daily basis even though I don't have account. Bills are now getting charged on different days and at higher rates which is impossible. Vodafone simply cannot explain. Useless wish I used another provider.

I have been going through this site for the last 1 and a half years. I can totally empathize with the sentiments that most of you share. Quite a lot of it is against the customer care overseas. This is a part of cutting costs which companies world wide are doing, specially where it requires providing a service.
I can only say this:-
Whenever you are dealing with 3 or vodafone or any other mobile service provoders, just before you end the conversation, ensure you have summarised every thing. After that, ask the rep to send you the copy of all communication (Via email or post) and ensure they give you a reference number. That way you can always have something in writing. Plus this is a right that the TIO has provided to the customer.
If anyone says that they dont have that facility, tell them they are wrong and they can look up in the TIO website.
If they say they dont have access to internet, tell them its a lie because everyone out there has been provided the access to some basic sites like www.tio.com.au, www.vodafone.com.au, www.three.com.au

21196 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total at 24 Mar 2012 11:45:56 PM
For the past 5-6 weeks my service has been SHOCKING, I'm up now (12.39 in the morning) because I can't use the net during the day it just keeps being incredibly slow or non existant and I've taken to walking up the street to use a neighbours phone or get a reasonable (though not without occassional disconnets) on my mobile.
I phoned customer service about 3 weeks ago and they said I could either terminate my contract and return my phone or I could have 3 months free. Having been with vodafone for 2.75 years and knowing that most other telcos wifi in this region is pretty bad or non existant I took the 3 months because they said the problem was because they were upgrading and that must be what was causing the issues, so once the upgrades are finished my service should be better, though I'd just be happy if it was back to the service I had prior to the current problems.
Today I checked my bill to see if they had kept their word, and guess what, they've billed me! Insult to injury, I'm up until 3am some days trying to get stuff done on the net, because of your lousy upgrade issues and you don't keep your promises that were made to keep a customer, well done vodafone.

21195 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dire trouble at 24 Mar 2012 10:58:23 PM
According to The Sydney Morning Herald on 22 March, V.fone have lost 500 000 customers and $350 million They are facing a huge challenge to restore their customer base. I can't imagine that many of the customers whom have left, will be returning. I left for Telstra (after 15 years with V.fone) and I am a very happy customer. I am not contemplating returning to V.fone. They might have a new CEO but personally I reckon in five years, V.fone will be finished in Australia. Their network is still poor and I customers just keep leaving.

I no longer have a problem with Vodafail.
I gave them the flick 3 days ago to go with another company after 17 YEARS!
17 years with mostly good reception & a reasonable deal. However from about a year ago nothing but aggravation.
Actually I tried to switch to Telstra at their ultra state of the art (?) new local store after being politely attended to by a nice attentive young lady on my initial visit. However on the follow up to sign up for the negotiated package deal, I was informed it was her day off & none of the disinterested bunch of retards could find my already negotiated deal & were not interested enough to give me any kind of help because they had more important things to do like squeezing their pimples & setting up the new 4G giant size plastic icon.
Gave the situation a little thought & went over to the Optus shop where I was treated as if I was a long lost member of the family. So based on nothing more than being treated like an actual person instead of a statistic I ended up with a far better deal on 2 phone deals & a broadband line account.
So far in 3 days I have had every inquiry & set up problem answered satisfactorily & (almost) immediately. I have read the online forums & there are pros & cons with all the telcos but as far as I'm concerned the most important thing is to be able to communicate with someone if there is a problem & I'm getting that now.
So bye bye LARA, bye bye totally no reception most of the day, bye bye hanging in a phone queue for 3 hours until Mumbai answers with total denial of anything I want to happen. Bye bye after 17 years of being a customer who always paid on time!
If anybody from Voadafail gets to read this -- kiss my ar-e! Bye Bye!

21192 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very bad at 23 Mar 2012 10:31:51 PM
I was switching to vodaphone from three mobile. As I have a locked phone, I asked the agent (from offshore) if they can check first if they can unlock my phone as I got it from ebay. Agent said, "Sorry, you are not a vodaphone customer yet, call back when you are." I should have packed my bags then.
Took a week before they moved my account, and as expected, the vodaphone sim will not work on a 3 mobile.
Gave them a call, and for a week, they said, just wait, the vodaphone sim will eventually work. Of course it didn't.
They sent me a refurbished nokia x6 after another week, which would turn off at the slightest nudge.
Complaining again, an agent promised to credit me $$$ to buy a nokia x6, but as they are offshore, didn't know Vodaphone has pulled out the model in Melbourne (it took hours to get this concept through).
Good thing I wasnt able to buy as a week later, no money has been credited to my account yet. I called back and THEN they clarify, it will be used to offset my monthly bills, and not transferred to my bank account. (how could you then by a phone with it, then?)
Bargaining ensued. They offered to replace the phone with something like a Nokia 3210 (just those old old models), then switched tactics to a Galaxy... but only just remembered at the end of the conversation that they are putting me on a 2 year contract, offered a refurbished Blackberry but would not have a battery, or anything else for that matter.
Finally, they promised to send me a new smart phone... fingers crossed, they're not pulling my leg anymore.

21191 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Playstation vita Fail at 23 Mar 2012 09:01:06 PM
Vita bought from a Sony store with a Wipeout 2047 Vodafone free game deal sticker on it - code given by VF for the AU playstation store for game is invalid, Vodafone have denied that they have to help me and asserted that this is a Sony issue. Sony say its a VF issue and transfered me through to a VF AU number, where I spoke to someone whom was obviously in AU. VF have agreed to get back to me Monday at this stage.

21189 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is The worst kind of fail at 23 Mar 2012 05:32:21 PM
Long story here
Got a iphone3g sometime in 2010, I think about april. I had intermitant 3g signal at my home address and at work I had almost zero reception. Seems these are the 2 places I use my phone and both were suppose to have full coverage I began negotiations to be excused from my contract due to poor service. Several months and many many cals later I was allowed to return the phone and cancel the contract with no discharge fee.
Some dates here are aproximations but are still fairly accurate.
August 2010 Ported phone number to Telstra
Septempber 2010 Handset sent back to VODAFAIL
I thought all was good at this point.
OCT - NOV 2010 Recieved call from NRG (debt collection agency) that I had a debt of approxmately $1300 ( the Balance of the contract). Told them The was no debt and to speek to vodafone.
Call Vodafail straight after NRG. THe consultant said the handset had not been recieved, It was sent registered post. They promised to call back and never did. 1 week later I called them and they said the handset had been found, the debt would be recalled and I would have no outstanding balance.
Febuary 2011 Receive call from NRG about that $1300 debt. Told them the same story again and that they need to take it up with Vodafone.
Called Vodafone who said they would sort it out and call me back. Once again they established there was no debt and couldnt understand why NRG had the file.
Never got the call back, I rang them back complained again about the lack of call backs. They reiterated that it had been sorted and that there was no Debt.
Fast forward to 2012. ( I thought it had been sorted.)
March 2012 Apply for credit card with my bank and get declined due to a default on my creditfile.
Do a Veda credit check and discover vodafone have defaulted me for the $1300
Call Vodafone and once again I am told there is no debt. I tried to get my history from the consultant and after alot of arguing I manage to get this info.
April 2011 Default placed against my name.
August 2011 Handset Is finally logged in properly. Aparantly due to a mistake / mistakes in the warehouse the data was never sent to another department of vodafone. (not sure how it works exactly consultant was very vague)
The default against my name was suppose to be withdrawn but for what ever reason it wasn't.
I asked the consultant if I could have a full history of my corespondance with them so I might better be able to sort things out with my bank and I was refused.
I was told Sorry. I will email you a letter about there is no outstanding debt, and the default has been recalled. ( sorry about the wording cant remember exactly what he said.
I estimate I have spent 15+ hours on the phone trying to sort this out over 2 years.

Message on my Telstra phone that the 3 roaming ends on 31st august 12 so does that mean that the 3telstra GSM roaming also finishes on this date? dont know as VHA have yet to inform customers of the end date for the 3 brand in AU.
I would appreciate VHA letting me know asap when the 3 brand finishes and the Telstra GSM roaming stops.

24 Mar 2012 04:51:06 PM: Yes - the 3 roaming ends on 31 August 12. As I have registered my mobile on the Do Not Call register then VHA cannot officially inform me! LOL. By that time I will have moved away from VHA.
21187 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Appalling at 23 Mar 2012 11:54:36 AM
I make approximately 20 calls a day with each call lasting about 15 minutes. Over half of these calls drop out - normally after about 4 minutes. Often I am stationery for these calls and the call starts with full signal then it drops out for up to a minute but sometimes just a second. It's a diabolical state. Who wants to do business with the guy who's phone cuts out every time you speak with him? I'm fuming

Vodaphone USB modem [pre paid] have major issues connecting to network. Biggest issue is if you actually connect and use the modem, the computer then it refuses to let the computer shut down. Not using the modem results in normal shutdown. check on other compters same thing. Updated software,Shut down certain ways etc.etc still does it. Vodaphone are no help "its not our modem". You are doing something wrong. Well tell me what I need to do so I can FIX the problem. I have 20yrs experience in the computer industry: which is 19.85yrs more than the person who is informing me that I am doing something wrong. Should have known better.

Perhaps the blame lies with my phone, but I think that this is unlikely. How do I find out?

21175 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EXTREME at 21 Mar 2012 06:38:07 PM
Myself, my partner, colleguae and atleast 5 other people residing in Kalbarri WA have lost Vodafone network coverage since Tuesday 13th March (over one weel now). I phoned the first day I lost coverage to be told it was an issue with my handset. Funnily enough it was picking up other networks and then I realised it would be Vodafone seeing as just about every person I know using Vodafone in my area has lost coverage as well. Upon calling back I was again told it had to be my handset - mentioning the others who had the same problem, the customer service person confirmed there was a network problem. When my collegaue phoned, she was told it was her handset, and again Vodafone eventually admitted it was their network except a comment was made that a tower was being upgraded in our area over the next 12 months! As I was in desperate need of a means of contact being 6 months pregnant and loosing all of my exisiting vodafone credit, I phoned back again to request the phone be unlocked at no fee. Again a new customer service person tried to tell me it was a handset issue and offered $5 vodafone credit which obviously can't be used. After words with the manager at the time I convinced them to agree to drop the unlocking fee of $75 which was more than 48 hours ago (I am still unable to unlock the phone online.)
So here I am left wondering, how many others have had this problem and are turned away by Vodafone to say it's a handset issue. I especially am frustrated that I do not have a reliable means of contact as I cannot use the Vodafone network at all and am still waiting on them to unlock the phone so I can use a network that will provide service. After being a Vodafone customer for over 4 years I am extremely disguisted in the service and that no announcement was made to give notice of the network problem. Simply buying another phone is not a suitable resolution for me as it's well past it's return date and had been working for many months prior.

21 Mar 2012 07:05:59 PM: I feel your pain.
Why continue with VF if there is no resolution in the near future? Why not take your business elsewhere to a provider who can offer coverage and service?
Suggest you contact VF again, give VF the opportunity to rectify/remedy/fix the lack of coverage within a reasonable time scale, say 10 working days and if there is no improvement then demand to be released from your contract.
If VF say yes, then take your business elsewhere, if they say no, then consider an alternative strategy using the TIO.
The TIO will ensure VF either resolve the issue in 10 working days or alternatively seek the other solution of cessation of contract.

I just had a call from a call centre in India asking, with attitude, about a non-payment of a bill. I advised him that it was paid...and lo and behold, he found it. I then asked him what the problem was with the website when I tried to pay. Apparently, he didn't have that information on him.
As a customer of somewhere between 15 and 20 years, I requested a phone call from someone in Australia to explain why I'm receiving harassing phone calls from India when my account has always been paid.
An hour later, I received another call from India advising me that there is not a single Vodafone employee based in Australia. Can this be really true?

21172 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not improving as promised at 21 Mar 2012 02:13:40 PM
For a period of 4 days from 13-17 March, it took over 10 attempts to make a call out at my home location, which has had relatively decent coverage prior. Client calls wouldn't even reach my voicemail - they would be faced with a "beep, beep, beep" and then a failed call. I run a business from home, and Vodafone had failed to give me notice of some 'upgrades' that were going to create blind service spots. It was after the fact that Vodafone acknowledged the issue - and due to monetary loss I potentially incurred, offered to give me a 50% discount on my plan for 3 months. If service gaps continue, I'll be cancelling my contract.

21170 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is getting worse at 21 Mar 2012 01:24:42 PM
my recption has never been 100%, but it seems to have gotten worse in the last 4-5 months or so. I sit next to a huge window at work, but have to get up and go outside to be heard when someone calls (if I'm in the office, it breaks up to the point that it will cut out eventually). Also, I have been getting a lot, like 40-50%, of my texts very late. Example, the other day I received 3 incoming text in a row at 5:30pm that were all marked as being sent to me at 2:10pm, 2:30pm, and 3:45pm. What's more, I lose reception completely when I go into buildings such as the mall, or grocery stores, etc... Further to this (pauses to take breath...) I can stand in one location (i.e. my lounge at home, office at work, outside on the street in the city) and watch my reception bars go up and down, up and down, and my network change from E, to H, to G at random. And the internet is painfully slow - always has been. I am on a contract, but wonder whether this is enough to get out of it with minimal penalty so I can switch to a more dependable telco. Like I said, it always happened from time to time, but recently it is happening far too often, and I can't justify paying for a service that is this bad.
21 Mar 2012 07:17:36 PM: I feel your pain.
I read somewhere that a lady had to climb a tree to get reception, but even so in this day and age when you pay good money for a service that is what you expect.........good service!
Why should you pay an even minimal penalty to get out of contract when the service is limited at best?
Have you reported the matter to VF? Have VF investigated? If so what was the result?
Suggest you contact VF, report the issue, allow VF to investigate within a reasonable time scale, say 10 working days.
If their service improves then excellent, if not then be prepared to either:
1/ Put up with the limited service
2/ Have reduced access fees for a period of time or to the remainder of your plan
3/ Demand to be released from your contract with no fee/charge of any type to you
VF may release you.
An alternative if they do not release you is to go to the TIO with the matter.
The TIO online form takes less than 5 minutes to complete, VF then have 10 working days to respond.

Every single time I'm on the phone, my calls drop out. I have called Vodafone repeatedly about this issue, they have said they have installed new phone towers and in the meantime gave me a discount on my bills, but there is absolutely no improvement. They should be finished reception upgrades by now, but it is getting worse, not better.
I'm so tired of carrying on a conversation punctuated with "What? I can't hear you, you're dropping out."
Really considering terminating my contract and going elsewhere.

21162 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bad reception at 20 Mar 2012 12:24:10 PM
I was on three for a couple of years for my wireless broadband and was quite happy. Soon after the vodafone takeover things went downhill fast and reception and speeds forced us over to vodafone. BIG MISTAKE AND WHAT A MESS.
I got my new usb dongle last week and the installed software, whilst installed (windows 7, modern high end pc for graphics work) would not load properly. I was informed it did not need to work through the sofware and I could connect manually which I did, but very inconsistant. Was told I have usb conflicts so was sent the pocket wifi and told this would work as I do not need usb connection. When arrived, did not work unless I used it with my usb cable. Then told my pc did not support WiFi, which they should have established before sending me the device. Even connected the speed is far, far worse than when I was on the old three network. They conclude there may be problems with the local transmitters and that they will pass on the their back room people who would contact me within 72 hours. For goodness sakes if they can not find out in a few minutes whether or not they have tower issues, they have lost the plot. Both me and my wife, she signed up with the new dongle at the same time, have spent hours every day trying to get back to where we were with Three, never mind a better speed, and we can not advise more strongly for people to stay away from this very disfunctional company. We are both out do-day to cancell our contracts and check out someone who can deliver, as this company spouts their capability but fail miserably, whilst still taking peoples hard earned dollars, and wasting their valuable time over complaint phone calls.

20 Mar 2012 12:43:51 PM: What a drama! - And I completely agree with your last statement re: time wasting. Not only do you waste money on this terrible service, the amount of time spent trying to sort out these issues is a huge waste. Most people are pretty time-poor nowadays and don't have the luxury of making multiple phone calls or waiting on call-backs for a substandard service they're paying money for! Most of the time the people that can sort these things out are only available during business hours (and even then, no guarantee it will be fixed). Insane! - hate this company.

In Oct 2011 Vfone advised me to move to a new 135 plan for 3 Phones and 3 data devices. Vfone found a problem with 3000 missing tech fund on my current account. They billed me 2000+ for nov/dec when they finaly sorted out their accounts issue. I told them I was NOT paying this amount as I should be on 135+gst. Many emails and phone calls now I cannot contact the Australian person as they do not return calls or emails. I ended up with Indian call centre HOPELESS ! They tell me that I am on 135 plan for 3 phones + 90 plan for data that I never agreed to. I have their email stating the plan inclusions at 135. I am now left with overdue of 440 these guys must have the accounting system from the stone age.

Well... looks like Data service is out in Perth (again!!). So sick of vodafone. - I haven't paid them a cent in over 8mths (due to multiple complaints, they have waivered my monthly access fee) - even this isn't enough anymore. Constant delayed texts & voicemails. Texts go missing (both send & receive). Call drop outs/patchy. Data is slow (when it works!). Rude customer service...
A free iPhone4 and no monthly charges (of $50p/m) isn't enough for me anymore. I'm getting out. They are the most useless "service".

I am going to have a big fat guess and say you have a smartphone with an application running in the background which you do not know about.
Turn the application off.
If you just turn the phone off the application is still chewing out your credit.
My advice is throw away your smartphone and leave Vodafone forever or you will be sorry.
Smash your Vodafone SIM card
Smartphones are not called smartphones for nothing,as they are very good at eating up all your money
SMARTPHONE = DUMBPHONE+Empty Pockets
Buy an old G2 phone ,at least you have control over that phone

VODAFONE'S AUSTRALIAN OPERATION PUT ON THE MARKET
by:
Christian Kerr and Mitchell Bingemann
From:
The Australian March 16, 2012 12:00AM
Source: The Australian
THE owners of embattled telco Vodafone Australia are looking for buyers, industry sources say, with an abbreviated information memorandum circulating among potential purchasers in Europe and Asia.
The Australian understands that a preliminary information memorandum to test the market reaction to a sale has been circulated to cashed-up telcos and sovereign wealth funds in Asia, the Middle East and elsewhere.
Qtel, Etisalat, Korea Telecom and NTT Docomo are believed to have seen the initial sales document, as has China Telecom, a controversial potential purchaser.
"Vodafone might say no, but they are hawking it, no question," one industry source said.
Vodafone Australia and one of its two 50 per cent shareholders, Britain's Vodafone Group, vehemently deny that the mobile operation is flirting with a sale and dismiss the suggestion as rumour.
"Vodafone remains fully committed to our operations in Australia and our sole focus is on the turnaround of the business," said a Vodafone Group spokesman.
...Vodafone Australia's other 50 per cent shareholder, Hutchison Whampoa, has also said it is committed to the local operation, and managing director Canning Fok has pledged financial support through the turnaround.
"We have provided and will continue to provide extensive financial support for VHA to accelerate the work needed to ensure all of our customers in Australia enjoy state-of-the-art mobile network services," Mr Fok has said.
However, analysts and industry sources are not convinced and wonder how much money the troubled mobile carrier's shareholders can commit to it, and for how long, especially after the slew of network disasters, profit erosion and customer defections that have plagued Vodafone in the past 18 months.
The Vodafone joint venture lost $336 million in 2011 and shed 554,000 customers (taking its total subscriber base down to 7 million) as ongoing network issues and customer confidentiality breaches took their toll.
Its customer base shrank by 179,000 in the six months to December, compared with gains of 313,000 at Optus and 958,000 at Telstra over the same period.
Its deteriorating balance sheet and exodus of customers has forced Vodafone Australia to embark on a major cost-cutting program that is expected to result in hundreds of job losses as it strives to reignite its sales performance.
Even though the carrier has injected $1 billion to improve and upgrade its mobile network to lure back customers, some analysts predict two more years of losses as spectrum renewal and interest costs hit the bottom line.
Renewal of its spectrum licences is expected to cost Vodafone $710m over the next two years and that will rise to up to $2bn by 2017 once the government finalises auctions of airwaves currently used by analog TV broadcasters.
Vodafone now needed to put a lot more into capital expenditure than it had in the past "just to put a bandaid on its wounds", said one analyst who declined to be named.
"All the problems Vodafone has experienced over the last 18 months have tested its parent companies' patience and we know that Vodafone Group has sold struggling operations in the past, so you can't entirely rule out a sale," the analyst said.
China Mobile, which has almost 650 million customers and which recently set up an office in Australia, is one potential buyer of Vodafone. The Chinese giant last year reported a profit of $19bn on revenues of $80bn.
With about $US50bn ($47.7bn) in the bank and between $US16bn and $US17bn in free cashflow each year, it has the cash needed to fund an acquisition the size of Vodafone Australia.
However, analysts say the Chinese telco would be unlikely to view Vodafone as an attractive prospect because of the limited growth profile of Australia's maturing mobile market.
"China Mobile has growth aspirations but in the past three to four years they haven't made any acquisitions. I'd be surprised if they ventured into Australia anyway because all they want is growth," the analyst said.
"And I also seriously doubt that too many European carriers would want to come to Australia and compete with Telstra and Optus. Life would be very tough, unless of course Vodafone turns out to be a very cheap asset."
MR.FOK,...YOUR COMPANY HAS LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE,SO... FOK YOU,MR.FOK!

Hurstville Westfields Vodafone Shop staff today confirmed with me that there has been no Vodafone mobile broadband in the shopping centre and around Hurstville for some time and that they have been complaining or alerting Vodafone about this. Vodafone website does not show this major ongoing fault in their Status page, which suggests we are seeing a rerun of late 2010 and 2011 when Vodafone was well aware of the technical faults but refused to let their customers know about this on the website.
My conversation with Vodafone support tomorrow is going to be most interesting when I notify them they are in breach of contract and letting know I will be terminating the contract early without penalty, and demanding credits for only partial supply of service, as soon as I can port away to a supplier that can actually provide a mobile phone+broadband service.
Would not be surprised if Vodafone is about to get some extremely adverse media coverage and quite likely that some senior voda heads will roll over this issue.
I feel really sorry for the voda staff having to deal with this.
Many would consider Voda not fit to hold a carrier licence in the way they continue to appear to be covering up network issues.

REGULATION 90 OF THE COMPETITION AND CONSUMER ACT 2010
From 1 January 2012 companies that do not comply with Regulation 90 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 when providing warranty against defects documentation to a consumer, face potential penalties.
When a supplier provides warranties with goods sold to consumers it is generally the case that companies will agree to repair or replace defective goods. Such warranties are normally set out in a warranty card accompanying the product.
Regulation 90 requires that companies must provide certain information with the warranties they provide to consumers. The information prescribed by the Regulations is extensive and includes how the consumer can claim under the warranty, details of the supplier and a mandated set of wording which sets out the consumer's rights.
The requirements only apply if the warranty against defects is made to a 'consumer'. In general, a person is a consumer if they acquire goods or services and:
the price for the goods or services is $40,000 or less; or
the goods or services in question are of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household useor consumption.
Failure to comply with the new warranty information requirements could expose suppliers to fines of up to $50,000 per offence for bodies corporate and $10,000 for individuals.

i was talking to someone in customer care regarding my bill which was showing a internet pack which i never requested.this lady after checking concluded that i didn't actually request it and it was a system error.they kept charging me for 7 months.and when i asked for my overcharged money back she said it can not be refunded.i was talking very nicely uptill now.then i had to change my tone and give her all sought of bloody reasons why this money should be refunded as she was not able to understand this simple fact that this is a overcharge and this money belong to me. then she started showing me on what she is trained on.to start with she offered me a credit of 50 dollars and then 60 dollars in-spite of the fact that around 160 dollars were taken out of my account by wrong means.then she talked to her supervisor mr richard .as this credit was not acceptable to me,she offered me full money back only because i was getting a bit harsh. i wanted to talk to one of the supervisor but i was told that the supervisor is on break and she can arrange a call back next day.i waited for that call but as usual no one called.then i had to call them back and this supervisor anmol was online with me.the info i got from him was entirely different from what i got told the day before by that girl in so called customer care.she said this pack activation was a system error but this supervisor in his rude tone said that this is not a system error and we are charging you right.in his words he is just honouring the words of that lady in customer care and giving me this credit because she promised it.otherwise i m not entitled to this.he behaved in a manner as he is doing a favour to me.if vodafone starts honouring each-others word like this that will be huge loss for them. one more time,to confirm this, i asked him that when is my other contract for internet is finishing.he went back to check his system and came up with a date 02july.this is when according to him my internet contract is finishing.i said mr anmol according to the contract this should be finishing on 22mar.then he rechecked and concluded that it is 22 mar not 02 jul.in a span of 2 minutes he provided me two different dates.and rather than saying that he was at mistake , he was putting it on some other department saying that the dates were not updated be them. i wonder how they are trained.are they trained from the same book of everyone has got his own different rule book.when i was nice they refused me giving even my money back and when i started being a bit rude they gave me my money and compensated for inconveniences as well.why do we need to use that tone which i myself don't appreciate. every time they say the supervisor will call,u never get a call.everytime u call back and talk to a supervisor , they try to show you the attitude.the dont think that they understand the seriousness of the matter.kindly look into it... ..

I recently (and successfully) cancelled my mobile broadband contract due to issues after approaching the TIO. Phone contract ends soon and I really don't care about paying more, I just want to get as far away from Vodafone as possible after years of issues.
2009: No issues yet, but then again only had a basic cap and no broadband
2010: Ordered iPhone, was lied to by Customer Service about delivery dates - got different answers over the 7 times I called over the space of 4 weeks. Received my phone and activated SIM but it only actually activated a day later on Vodafone's system.
2011: Got broadband, speed at 1kbps for weeks. Customer Service completely unhelpful, ended up resolving after 3 weeks without their intervention. Multiple issues involving incorrect billing and usage details. myVodafone constantly delaying updating of usage details by up to 12 days. Received a bill one month for almost $4,000 (normal bill is $103 for broadband and phone), but no usage shown outside caps. Apparently a system problem. Received several updates - amount changed to over $4,000, then $13,000 then negative $11,000. After 1 month of trying to deal with Customer Service, submitted to TIO and resolved within a few days.
2012: Cap for mobile broadband showed as incorrect on my account for several weeks - Customer Service couldn't figure out what problem was, took a month to fix. Continuing issues with usage details being incorrect. Broadband and phone signal at home became non-existent. Dealt with several Customer Service reps, all of whom said there didn't appear to be an issue with the network. One blamed me for using the network during peak hours, but couldn't answer when I asked if 3am is a peak hour. Was offered 3 months with a discount but only if I waived my consumer rights and accepted the bad service without question - no guarantee that service would improve. Submitted to TIO and resolved quickly - they also admitted there are major issues in my area, so I was either lied to by the others or their system is inadequate.
Not worth the stress or the cost, looking forward to being free!!!!

Incorrect Billing.
....19 minutes ago 18.3.2012
Hi, i have a $69 infintate plan with a 2Gig Data limit. Now i have recived 2 bills at over $500 and one of them is for Premium Messages which i did not send and i have premium messages barred from my phone the other bill has $500 in data that was used when i use my WIFI at home most of the time. I have rang vodafone and they tell me they can not refund the premuim messages which i did not send they say it came from my number but i dont ever use premium messages, they say that i have to ring the companies that the messages are from and i asked what companies and there was like 10 different compaines so i said why the hell do i have to pay this when i didnt make the messages and they were like well we cant refund that money only the compaines who the messages were to can, and the data charges i got were rediculous because i use wifi when i am at home and hardly use my data when not at home. i am sick of talking to an overseas call center as they are rude and not helpful at all. i refuse to pay the $1200 or what ever it is for these bills. I want this amount cleared and my call barring lifted other wise i will cancell my contract with Vodafone and not pay the cancellation fee and i will go with telstra. So if you can please help it would be greatly appriciated.
Kind Regards

19 Mar 2012 02:50:05 PM: Put your mobile number into a webpage (even as a contact info) and then the scammers have your number and your mobile can & will go off like a rattle gun. Happened to me, even though premium messaging was disabled, TIO is the ONLY answer. Alas they need to get rid of premium messages all together now as the ONLY solution!
20 Mar 2012 08:37:19 PM: I am having the same issue with the wifi.. AND i have just had my my phone barred too.. I can't help but would be interested to know how you got on with your issue.. I will be doing the same thing tomorrow.

I am trying to run a mobile service business from my mobile phone. It has been ok for the last 12 months but from Friday 9-03-12 I have had voicemails not come in, phone drop out mid calls. incoming caller notified that network is not available, calls fails even to vodafone 1555 customer service number, when I ring a number it can take 60sec to get ring out sound, just a real mess.
Vodafone call service people said that there is an issue and it will be fixed by 25-3-12. This means major losses for me. The government should have enforce a 100% guarantee of service from these companies like that used in landlines and these companies should have backups plans.
Thanks god I am not depending on this phone in a life threatening situation like the elderly.

21137 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing issue at 16 Mar 2012 11:50:31 AM
I have set up 2 mobile phone plans with Vodafone on plan and has been going quiet well for over a year. MObile phone was setup using direct debit and going well for over a year. Untill it reached Oct 2011 my monthly bill started to day im outstanding payment, I call vodafone up and they said I have not paid but will be picked up next month. Few months have gone by March 2012 now I have an outstatnding bill to vodafone for over $300. I went to my online bank to check if money was taken out and surely it has been without a hitch for each month. So not only I have paid they are saying I am also outstanding at the same time? I finally got ahold of someone Australia the ecare correspondance team and for them to START investigating they request my whole bank statement.
Now due to privacy issues I went to my online bank and only gave them cut and paste days and dates and bank tracking number and withdrawal amount of the vodafone payment. She said that was not enough and still require my whole bank statement for them to start investigating. I am not after a home loan and I feel violated that they have to have my whole bankstatement they can see my savings, spending habits, income, payments and transaction that is NOT related to them. This has kept me up for few months straight now concerning me and that this level of detail was not acceptable. I have since then lodged a formal complaint to the Australian privacy comissioner. After they have checked my bankstatement the vodafone correspondence team said we have waived the overdue payments without giving a reason why it happened.
I feel violated and now insecure and have no confidence in Vodafones billing system.

21133 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Being offended and discriminated at 15 Mar 2012 10:18:02 PM
I moved here from England and study a course in Canberra. I signed two plan there (for mobile and broadband) and it sucks! The internet was a torture to me and they failed every time I connected. I cancelled the broadband plan in two weeks after use and then got a bill from them requiring paying two months bills! And two days ago, I got another email from them required me to pay $250 instead of my monthly fee ($49). And the network is very bad. I almost lose the signal every single hour. I was so mad trying to call the customer care services for hours and all I got was just a machine! Then I went to the Civic centre store to check the bill again but then failed to answer every question I asked. After all I decided to cancel the iphone plan but they told me that if I cancelled I have to pay two months fees because it's not their fault! I told them if they didnt do it I would report to Ombusman and they ALL laughed out loud telling me that who will protect an international student then left me there humiliated. I felt so offended and discriminated. Who will protect us in this country?
17 Mar 2012 09:20:13 AM: I feel your pain.
First off welcome to Australia, the best country in the world.
Second, what the store staff allegedly said is totally incorrect and the manner they allegedly dismissed you is also wrong and arguably very un-Australian.
In Oz we have something called the TIO, similar to Offtel in the UK.
Provided you have raised an initial complaint with VF and allowed VF to investigate your complaint within an acceptable and reasonable time-frame, you may then escalate the matter to the TIO should there be no satisfactory resolution.
Have you tried contacting 1555 (VF helpline) and asked for a network investigation? If not then that action is your first port of call. If you have contacted them and they have done their investigation with no service improvement, then the next option for you could be the TIO.
The TIO on line form takes less than 5 minutes to complete and is totally free to the consumer.
TIO contact details found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!

21125 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Abysmal at 15 Mar 2012 01:14:37 PM
I spend most of my time in an area within 7km of Melbourne CBD. The data connection via my iPhone 4GS is abysmal. Half the time when I go to access the internet no connection is available (but voice and SMS) is okay). If I do get an internet connection half the time it takes ages to download. This is a rubbish service and prevents me from really making use of all benefits of my phone - it is impossible to view video under these circumstances for example, rely on a map working right when you need it, using Tramtracker, the list goes on. I find it hard to believe that Vodafone have the nerve to provide such a service, especially in one of the most populated areas of Australia. There is no way I can use all of the data allowance that comes with my plan as I can't get connected to the internet often enough, so I am just wasting this part of my plan due to Vodafone's inability to provide a reliable data service.

Many times when making a call, you hear nothing from the other end, not even a ringing tone. You have to try calling a few times. Then you will get the call through. The other end will tell you he heard me but I could not hear anything.
It happens constantly its maddening !
Another issue is the other end will ring but time out because they are not answering. But when you check with them, they said the telephone did not ring AT ALL !
Never had these problems when with 3. Contract ended, forced to move to Vodafone. What a failure.

Two days ago I ported my number to Telstra as my Vodafone contract had expired. OMG - what a totally different experience. Emails download at lightning speed and web pages load almost instantaneously. No call drop outs so far either. Admittedly I've got a more advanced phone (iPhone 4s from Nokia N97) but as soon as you can, get away from V.fone. I'm so glad I made the switch! It took about 10 minutes from the time the request to port was lodged at the Telstra shop, to the time I was connected.

I just signed up to a Vodafone Mobile Broadband connection. Upon signing up, I entered a delivery address, the email confirmation confirmed the delivery address. Estimated delivery time 1-2 working days.
5 Days later they delivered the modem to a place 2 hours away...
I called to ask about it, for them to fix the problem will take 10 more days to collect and resend the modem, so they suggest it's easier for me to just go pick it up myself.

Well i have been trying to get 3g working at a decent speed and Voda just SUCKS!! i am lucky to get over 10kb/sec where with my iphone tethered to optus i can get 170kb/sec +
I just moved to Melbourne(from Sydney) to open a new branch and dont have ADSL yet installed into my place.
I even went out and purchased a Vodaphone 3G USB modem but i get the same speeds. VODA YOU SUCK AND NEED TO CHANGE YOUR NETWORK, im surprised there isn't a full out class action/war against you.
Oi and btw your website says that your support is 24x7 and there is no wait times, i called and it says to call back at 7AM(no wonder there is no wait times :|). How can a business that offers 24x7 service only support it some hours? seriously!
I will defiantly be getting my boss onto our account manager in the morning and hitting them up!

Since Vodafone has removed my post off there site in regards to data speeds on the Gold Coast, on there so called stronger 850mhz wifi2 modem, I will reveal the truth of just how slow there network has been done through tests of my own.
Since I use mobilebroad at home for my internet use, I had to download 5 files total size of 1.8 gig. I started the download on Sunday morning at 3am, knowing vodas network would be quiet.
It had taken 12 hours to download 5 files, total size of 1.8 gig. The speed on average was 100kb/s from 3am till 7am, then dropped to a speed of 12kb/s from 7am till 3pm.
Further tests was also done using an old wifi1 modem which works on 2g/3G 2100mhz. I had found that there 2100mhz was fast than the 850mhz network, which would indicate that the 850mhz system was straining to cope with the amount of people on there 850mhz network.
I had checked on vodaphone network page to make sure that there system was up and running. The real problem with Vodafone on the Gold Coast Qld is that there network is not coping, and that they are happy to sell something that doesn't work.

21099 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very bad at 12 Mar 2012 01:16:26 PM
It started in end of Feb 2012. I received sms that there will be network update in where I live, Hurstville 2220. But even after the mentioned date on 26th Feb. I was experiencing a very weak reception, no signal at all when inside building. Then I also had reception problems in University of Sydney, Camperdown 2006. I complained, handled by the technical support, explained that there is a network upgrade in Camperdown 2006 and was given 25% off my plan for 2 months. And was asked to contact them if by end of March I am still experiencing network problem.
Several days later (after 26-2-2012), I had trouble in Hurstville 2220. I had full bar but no data connection. I tried to contact technical support help but that person was rude. He said I already complained and given a 25% off, why I was still complaining. I complained for different thing, and it is really not functioning as it supposed to. And later I contacted Vodafone AU Help via twitter and been explained that works in Hurstville 2006 was still being carried on until 6-3-2012. And it is actually after 6-3-2012, it is way much better in Hurstville.
Today as per 12-3-2012, I had a very big frustration in Camperdown 2006. I cant receive any call, call dropping every 5 seconds, and losing signal constantly. I was expecting many important work related phone call. I contact Vodafone AU help via twitter and just been told there is network upgrade until end of March. Does it mean I have to hold my desperation for another 2 weeks? What is the point of having mobile phone if I hardly can make a phone call.

13 Mar 2012 06:59:34 AM: They promise me the same solution, but I get 2 months free instead of the 25% OFF.
But there's no point having a free phone but you can't use it.
New solution: Just go to TIO and report the issues, and port to Telstra you will not regret it.

12 Mar 2012 10:29:33 AM: Yes, you are a Vodafone Employee. You pop in and pop out, with nothing, as usual.
You must have been trained at the Rhodes Vodafone Store.

What's your problem".
You are blind like caitlin who answers a day later to no one because they are not there.
By the way,What time does the shop open?

13 Mar 2012 11:17:00 AM: Yes, of Course Vodafone employee!
After the fact, in your VodaNofone world of nothing, can mean three weeks later.
On your website the customers complaints are DELETED very fast I see.
A Vodanofone No-Customer service officer servicing no-one!
That makes sense to you only, why she would have an upbeat attitude servicing NO-ONE.
The rest of Long Suffering VodaNoFone Customers would call it DEADBEAT!

Hi yukey119,
Do you have plans to return to Australia in the future? Cancelling your contract early will incur an early termination fee which is the remaining months of your contract times your minimum monthly spend. You can have your services cancelled by calling 1555 from your Vodafone number or if you would prefer to keep this online, I can provide to you my email contact details and complete this for you.
Otherwise, you can certainly have your current plan transferred to another person who is willing to take over your service. As the MPP for the phone can not be transferred, you will need to pay out the remaining cost of the phone. To complete a transfer of title, you will need to have an authorisation placed onto your account by either contacting customer care on 1555, a free call from your Vodafone number or by visiting your nearest store. Your friend or family member who is willing to take over the service will need to visit a store with their ID to have their account set up and your services transferred to them. The contract duration will not change as the contract is only being transferred across.

ANOTHER DAY AT VODANOFONE NO COMMUMITY HEARTLESS AND BRAINLESS
I personally admire this Paramedic and his wife who has had the courage and fortitude to tell this Discraceful Unethical Company what is,and what is not.
The paramedic does this in the interests of Australians and their Medical Emergencies.
Well done Mr.Paramedic and his good wife,Mrs Nurse who care about prople.
The discraceful unethical and criminal Vodafone Network cares about how much it can steal from you.
I have said it before on this website."I would rather deal deal with the Mafia because you know the Mafia would Rob you DEAD!"
Very poor Network coverage.....an hour ago 11.3.2012 11.00am
Hi There,
I have moved from 3 to Vodafone in 2011 and have had nothing but trouble with my reception. We currently have 3 plans with Vodafone - my Wife, my Son and I. I am a Paramedic, my Wife is a Nurse on call.
I use my phone for work doing Hospital notifications and daily have trouble getting reception - for medical emergencies that is definately not good enough! My Wife uses her phone for work and cannot get reception at work and she gets voice mails without her phone even ringing. My Son uses his phone for letting us know where he is after school for sports and keeping us updated whether he is home safely - many days he cannot get a hold of us and we are unable to contact him. Not good enough!
When I moved from 3 to Vodafone I had tyo give my home address in order for them to ensure I have coverage at home. I was assured of coverage before I moved. This is not the case. When my phone rings at home I have to run outside halfway up the driveway other wise I cannot be heard. Not good enough!!
I have contacted Vodafone about this and was told upgrades are underway - my bill was reduced by 25% but I still feel very ripped off. I think 25% is not good enough as I get less than 75% coverage. I cant even sit in my own home and make phonecalls. The contact centre promised me upgrades are underway and by end of March 2012 all will be good. I am making a complaint to the COMMS umbudsman and will be asking for a full refund of all 3 contracts for my past 4 bills. If there is not improvement by 31/03/2012 I will return 3 phones to my nearest Vodafone store and going to Telstra.
Definately had enough!!
Hope this stops other users from joining Vodafone.
Ben

11 Mar 2012 12:54:08 PM: Move to Virgin or iiNet as fast as you can....I had 3 1/2 years of this crap from VF....
11 Mar 2012 10:41:14 PM: There is a 30 day network guarantee for customers to use if needed. If it really took you 30 days or more to realise your reception issues, than ok lol. Apart from this, if you have a handset that is not 850MHz capable like an iPhone 3G s, than new VF new network won't mean a thing to you, and no network provider has a responsibility to provide phones, just network service, so unless eligible to upgrade, invest in an up to date phone.
12 Mar 2012 10:22:28 AM: 2nd reply, go and look at the big gigantic holes in the guarantee,it is worth less than the paper it is written on.
12 Mar 2012 12:02:52 PM: Regulation 90 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 is there not to assist Vodacrims, but to assist Vodafone Victims.
The 30 day guarantee is so badly defined,EG(Must be initiated by Vodacrims Customer NO-Care @ 1300551198.They will never initiate it because they will say you did not call them, or they, you.
Those Vodacrims have already pulled that stunt and the number does not even show on your Call History, when they call you, on your phone.
(I personally caught them out already.)

December 2011 to connect to the net and have had several serious problems of summary, unexplained and unapologetic terminations of service. To my relief eventually my local agent Prakash who manages Rakshikta Ent.in Gokarna where I live every year for 4 months solved my problem by giving me a new sim card with the same amount of credit. He said Vodafone had been negligent in processing the required and submitted documentaion.I owed waht was left of my Indian Vodafone net connection to him. But Vodafone SUCKS BIGTIME it seems not just in India but many places.
