Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

2608 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Kind of epic at 27 Dec 2010 01:45:35 PM
Just annoyed that where I live there is network coverage but every now and then I seem to get none what-so-ever. Also really frustrated by the fact that approx. every 2 days I'm always charging my battery. Just saying.

19386 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is The worst - how to get 50% your bill for the next three months by complaining at 8 Sep 2011 06:32:55 AM
I have been so hacked off with the terrible serviec, dropped calls and slow internet I phoned up complaining on Monday. They offered me 25% my bill for the next three months. I said that's not good enough and after more wrangling I got 50% off for the next three months. I accepted but the next day I got quite annoyed with the service again and phoned up to cancel my contract. I am 5 months away from the end of my contract but told them under no certain terms that they were going to terminated my contract for free, allow me to keep my iPhone which is under contract and allow me to port my number. They tried everything in the book to keep me but I just stuck at it. The call did drop twice during all this due to the crap service and had to repeat my demands. I passed this onto several people I know and they have successfully done the same. As soon as I got out of my contract I went to Telstra and handed them the porting account number and within 10 minutes my number was ported and working on a $49 plan and 1.5Gb data which is much better than the $79 plan I was on.
Give it a go and persevere. They will try everything to keep you but I told them they could offer me a Ferrari and a trip around the world but all I wanted was a phone service that WORKED.

have finally left!!! how funny they sent me out a survey to complete, but i never heard anything else from them cant even open my final bill cause its on their myvodafone site and my account is closed so cant log in, figure that out...
copy of what i wrote to them:
"lousy reception.
being lied to about how they were improving the network.
disorganisation, incompetence with billing, for example:
not billed for 2 months from direct debit, then billed for 3 months in one hit...
then when wanting to cancel;
1) calling and not being able to get through,
2) leaving an email on the site and not getting a reply
3) visiting a shop and being told to call the help line!!!
i then went ahead and ported my number to other provider.
then got texts and emails from vodafone saying they were experiencing a large volume of enquiries and would be getting back to me... which never happened.
then receiving abill for $150 in the text of an email but with no attachment. I tried going onto the website but of course my phone number wouldnt work as log in as it was no longer with vodafone!
so i went into the shop and asked if they could print out my bill so i knew what it was for. they couldnt log into my account either and said i'd have to call vodafone.... wtf!!!
so i call and left a message as they were too busy as usual. some guy calls back and says he'll take care of it and email my bill out within a week. 3 weeks later nothing...
so even if the service or reception was adequate, and the price more competitive, i still would not stay just due to the lack of customer service and thier ability to stuff everything up constantly!
no regrets and never coming back"

30 Jan 2012 06:37:05 PM: I empathise with you.
You know what?
they will probably send you a bill to say you owe them mega$$$$$$$$$$
I have come to the conclusion that you get the TIO to close the account .
There are many ,many, cases wher a customer has demanded their accounts closed and the customer NOservice Curry Muncher from MUMBAI has said yes it is closed.
Then you get another round of bills next month, you close it again, they say yes it is closed,THEN YOU GET ANOTHER ROUND OF BILLS!!!!!
VODAFONE MUMBAI NEEDS A NUCLEAR ASSISTANT !!!(shape of a torpedo should be fine)

I have a tower across the road, Full bars most of the time, random hours with full reception, I can't call out, people can't call me, CONNECTION ERROR, BUT MIRACULOUSLY, I can call 1555 wait on hold for 2 hours and have some lady ask me how the weather is in Australia, then tell me there is no problem with the network it must be a problem with my phone and my other phone and my wifes phone and my sisters phone and my cousins phone and my mates phone, maybe we should all try turning our phones off and cleaning the sim card and turning the phones back on.

I no longer have a problem with Vodafail.
I gave them the flick 3 days ago to go with another company after 17 YEARS!
17 years with mostly good reception & a reasonable deal. However from about a year ago nothing but aggravation.
Actually I tried to switch to Telstra at their ultra state of the art (?) new local store after being politely attended to by a nice attentive young lady on my initial visit. However on the follow up to sign up for the negotiated package deal, I was informed it was her day off & none of the disinterested bunch of retards could find my already negotiated deal & were not interested enough to give me any kind of help because they had more important things to do like squeezing their pimples & setting up the new 4G giant size plastic icon.
Gave the situation a little thought & went over to the Optus shop where I was treated as if I was a long lost member of the family. So based on nothing more than being treated like an actual person instead of a statistic I ended up with a far better deal on 2 phone deals & a broadband line account.
So far in 3 days I have had every inquiry & set up problem answered satisfactorily & (almost) immediately. I have read the online forums & there are pros & cons with all the telcos but as far as I'm concerned the most important thing is to be able to communicate with someone if there is a problem & I'm getting that now.
So bye bye LARA, bye bye totally no reception most of the day, bye bye hanging in a phone queue for 3 hours until Mumbai answers with total denial of anything I want to happen. Bye bye after 17 years of being a customer who always paid on time!
If anybody from Voadafail gets to read this -- kiss my ar-e! Bye Bye!

20060 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Overcharged at 21 Nov 2011 05:04:06 PM
When I changed from 3 to Vodafone I change my plan as from 45AUD cap+International call to 20AUD sim card only+International call. When I received my first bill I was so surprised that they haven't put the International call pack into my account so I have to pay full amount for my international calls. Since I've done the contract on telephone, I just rang the customer line and they told me they could only refund 25% of the international call part. Unless I can find a hard copy of my contract, I won't be able to get a full amount refund. So I went to Vodafone store and requested for a hardcopy. But there is nothing about International call pack mentioned on it.
Then I asked if I could request for the audio record of my contract. They simply refused it. Luckily one Vodafone staff helped me to call the service line. At first they said only 30% of my international call fee can be cancelled. I refused it directly. After a few seconds they asked if I accept 50% refund. Then I was totally upset and insisted to get a full amount refund. After 10 more minutes the staff lady told me that "they" agreed to refund me in full price but I have to wait untill next month when the new bill comes.

It's never nice to receive a bill higher than you expect, I'm sure I can help solve what is causing it with you. Sounds like you're educated and aware of the billing corrections recently made and the effect they've had on previously unbilled data services and I appreciate you posting what has happened to date.
We'll be able to look into what may be causing the data use and ensure it's avoided in the future. You mentioned that you don't use any services that are related to the billing corrections made (Peer to Peer, VoIP and Secure HTTP), however some applications and sites may communicate via secure HTTP as part of normal operation and previously you wouldn't have been billed for the data used. This can increase the amount of data you're billed for, even though you haven't changed your usage style/habits. You also mentioned you're in an area of reduced 3G coverage; the coverage checker gives an indication of expected network performance, but you certainly may be able to retrieve data at that location.
You mentioned that data sessions were listed during times that you were either at work or asleep; whilst this may seem like an error, there is a high possibility that if your handset is switched on, it can be retrieving data in the background. This could be an application checking for updates, or simply checking in and letting the application server know you're still around. These small increments of data use will extend a session time over a long period.
If you can let me know what model of handset you're using I can give you information on how to stop background tasks and help eliminate extra data usage. Do you know how much extra data you used overall? We've got a range of mobile internet packs to add to your data quota if you think you'll be using all your allocation next month, you can see these packs on our website here.
I'm sure we'll be able to solve this for you and help ensure you don't receive an unexpectedly high bill again.

9058 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Putting the Disabled At Risk at 30 Dec 2010 12:09:57 PM
Hi everyone,
I'm disabled with epilepsy and live on my own. My parents need to ring me during the day to check on me and I need to ring them them as well if I need to go to appointments etc.
Can you imagine the sheer panic my parents go through when they try to ring my mobile and I don't answer? My phone hasn't even registered that they tried to call me repeatedly so they have to jump into the car and race over to my house scared to death that I could have seisured and possibly killed myself. Then they get to my house only to find that I'm safe and sound after all that distress that they just went through.
It can take me up to four calls before I can actually ring someone (anyone) and even then I tend to lose reception and quite often the call is so badly garbled that I have to try and ring them back. Sometimes I have to try up to four times to ring this person back and each time I get through the line can still end up garbled and I have to start again.
I'm scared.
Just a quick note to all disabled Vodafone users: if you are using Vodafone then I urge you to stop being disabled because you are putting yourself at risk. Sorry people, but if you don't laugh you'll cry.

1 Jan 2011 08:55:18 PM: Perhaps voda should be giving customers distress flares, just in case there is an emergency!!!!
3 Jan 2011 05:06:41 PM: ROTFL Oh you are absolutely priceless! lol
8 Jan 2011 04:57:47 AM: For all those customers who have received distress flares, we apolgise, we are having a few issues with them, so we ask you to return them to nearest store
8 Jan 2011 04:43:26 PM: Ha ha :)
9 Jan 2011 02:43:23 PM: For those of you looking for your nearest store we wish to apologise for the delay in locating one that has useful staff.
Please 1555 and wait for 2 hours to be directed around several different departments only to find that all the stores with useful staff members have been closed down for the past seven months.

9 Jan 2011 10:02:25 PM: Guys - this is a serious issue. I have had the same problem trying to get through to local emergency services through 'Directory Assist'. It is really scary.
10 Jan 2011 07:00:28 PM: I believe you!
11 Jan 2011 12:06:30 PM: Okay. First of all, I also have epilepsy. So don't take the following as a knock out, because I know the panic and terror that comes with it.
Anyway. If contacting your mobile is a recurring problem and you're having trouble getting out of your plan... Your health is worth paying the extra to GET A LANDLINE WITH ANOTHER PROVIDER.
Vodafone are useless and unsympathetic, I completely agree. But there are a lot of actions you need to be taking that can resolve this issue that don't involve your mobile phone provider. Good luck in the future :)

11 Jan 2011 03:55:56 PM: It depends on whether you can afford a home phone as well as a mobile. You don't get much money on a pension if you're disabled, plus all the bills and rent have gone up MASSIVELY lately.
Are you on a contract or a plan? If you're on a contract you're pretty much screwed unless you can get out of the contract.

21199 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Like the Qld Labor party at 26 Mar 2012 11:11:11 AM
The only organisation loosing its customers faster than Vodafone is the the Labor party in the Queensland election. Some similarities are deceiving their customers, lying, covering up, making promises that aren't kept (its been 2 years that they have said that they have been improving the network)and a complete lack of service and support. Fortunately, I have only 2 months to go and it goodbye Vodafone forever.

24 Dec 2010 12:29:54 PM: good estimate there, 'pretty much'. number perhaps?
28 Dec 2010 11:17:00 AM: We just had same issue, waited over half hour to talk to someone, then was told we would still have to pay to get out of contract..
30 Dec 2010 07:56:53 PM: Finally people are sinking their teeth into companies taking money for nothing.
21 Jan 2011 09:23:13 AM: You're a racist idiot. Onshore or offshore makes no difference if you don't have non-racist courtesy. Have you tried to call Telstra or Foxtel CC lately? If you took the time to actually listen and explain your problem well enough then they might be able to help but no doubt your just a racist bogan who can't help but get abusive and angry because you have no self control.
21 Jan 2011 10:55:27 AM: "Aussies to do some decent call centre work". hahahhaha Aussies are the laziest workers on earth.

I am so glad I watched the news tonight and have seen your website! Thank you!
Their customer service is just disgraceful - I don't know how they are allowed to get away with it.
the below is a complaint letter that I sent to them a couple of month ago. No one responded to me. I am going down to vodafone tomorrow to get out of my contract if I can - I encourage everyone to do the same - having no customers is the only way to hurt these organsiations - vote with your feet!
DEAR WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDER EVER!
I AM WRITING THIS EMAIL OUT OF SHEER ANGER AND FRUSTRATION AS I CANNOT FIND ANSWERS ANY OTHER WAY. KNOWING VODAFONE I WON'T GET A RESPONSE.
YOUR RIDICULOUS LARA VOICE RECOGNITION SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND DOES NOT WORK. YOU WAIT ON HOLD FOR HOURS AND THEN GET THROUGH TO A DIVISION LIKE TECH SUPPORT WHEN YOU WANT BILLING AND THEY CAN'T HELP YOU. YOU ARE THEN TRANSFERRED BACK ONTO A QUEUE THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT AGAIN.
LET YOUR CUSTOMERS SPEAK TO A REAL PERSON. A PERSON THAT IS AUSTRALIAN! YOU ARE THE AUSTRALIA DIVISION OF VODAFONE! I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING PUT THROUGH TO AN INDIAN OR EGYPTIAN CALL CENTRE WITH STAFF THAT CULTURALLY CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT. I HAVE BEEN ON HOLD TONIGHT FOR OVER TWO HOURS. RESOURCE YOUR CALL CENTRES APPROPRIATELY!!! I HAVE BEEN PASSED FROM EVERY DIVISION, SPOKEN TO A SUPERVISOR AND STILL NO ONE IS ABLE TO PUT ME THROUGH TO A PERSON THAT CAN ASSIST WITH MY REQUEST.
I APPRECIATE THAT YOU CFO IS TIGHT AND WANTS TO CUT COSTS BY OUTSOURCING CALL CENTRES TO INDIA AND EGYPT, BUT YOUR CUSTOMERS CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE INDIAN CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM'S ACCENT AND LANGUAGE BARRIERS. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT I CANNOT SPEAK TO ANYONE IN AUSTRALIA AT ALL. ASK YOUR MARKETING DIRECTOR - WHAT IS THE POINT OF DEVELOPING A GREAT BRAND CAMPAGIN WHEN YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE TREATED LIKE DIRT AT THE OTHER END I CANNOT BELEIVE HOW BACKWARD YOUR APPROACH TO CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE IS.
IF I DIDN'T HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO I WOULD START A VODAFONE HATE CAMPAIGN ACROSS EVERY SOCIAL NETWORK SITE I CAN FIND.
IF THERE IS ANYONE WITH A BRAIN THAT CAN READ THIS EMAIL, PLEASE SEND IT TO YOU MARKETING TEAMS, BECAUSE I AM SURE THEY WILL CARE MORE ABOUT THIS COMPLAINT THAN ANY OTHER. IF YOU WANT A LESSON IN CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE PHONE THE COMMONWEALTH BANK AS THEY KNOW HOW TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS PROPERLY. I FEEL LIKE I MATTER TO THEM AS A CUSTOMER.
WITH VODAFONE I CAN'T WAIT TO WORK OUT HOW I'M GOING TO GET OUT OF YOUR CONTRACT AND TELL EVERYONE HOW ABISMAL YOUR SERVICE IS!
IF SOME POTATO IN YOUR AUSTRALIA CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM COULD CONTACT ME TO ANSWER MY QUESTION I WOULD BE MOST GRATEFUL.
I WON'T HOLD MY BREATH.

29 Dec 2010 06:33:51 PM: LOl you idiot......Commonwealth Bank got the lowest score in customer service out of any of the major banks. Im not defending Vodafone nor am I trying to make Commonwealth Bank sound bad but seriously do some research before you make such stupid comments. P.S all you have to do is ask to cancel your contract, they will cancel it for you or come to a compromise. I was annoyed that I was paying $100 a month for shitty coverage and they cancelled my contract. Done happy :-) ......ohh and if you think that vodafone has tight ass CFO, you might want to google what commonwealth banks profits were last year. The board decides to cut costs to make money for share holders. Share holders at the end of the day want more profits so therefore favour cheaper decisions, the CFO is mearly a puppet in-between the public and its shareholders.........so who do we blame SHAREHOLDERS!!!! no further comment....

I have had a mobile broadband USB device for over a year now and have experienced nothing but trouble since day dot. I have complained numerous times. Some days I cannot connect to the internet at all and other days if I get a connection, it will drop out constantly. When I first signed up with Vodafone I was assured a number of times that I was in a very good coverage area. I was extremly cautious before I signed up with the 24 month plan. I am so disapointed with the service that I have received from Vodafone. The hold times are crazy and when I actually get to speak to someone I am told they will call me back. Well guess what - I'm still waiting. All I ever wanted was to receive the service that I pay for yet Vodafone continue to direct debit from my account every month. My husband & I have both mobile phones with Vodafone and have been with them for years. As soon as my contract ends I will be changing suppliers. If I can get out of my contract for the broadband I will. I am sick of not receiving customer service that I am entitles to as a consumer. I have even failed a uni online test as my connection dropped out so many times, my test time ran out!!! Vodafone - let me go so I can get another internet connection that works - my future relies on this!!!

I finally was on call with my dream supplier. The phone dropped out. They said they will not supply some one who hangs up on them or can not keep adequate phone communication.

28 Dec 2010 12:26:25 AM: I;m an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodaphone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

5507 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is no sms no reception at 27 Dec 2010 10:37:13 PM
My network fails more consistently than it works. I reset the network up to 3 times a day, otherwise the sms' don't go through and calls can't be made or received. When I called vodaphone they blamed it on the phone, so I sent the phone in for repairs. It took 2 weeks for them to look at my phone (which I paid for bc Im on a contract) and nothing was found to be wrong with the phone. It's vodaphone. Vodaphone's crap. I'd be better off using telepathy as that works more often than vodaphone.
5160 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely fail at 27 Dec 2010 08:43:40 PM
I live in Brisbane and I have an iPhone 3GS on a 24 month contract. I was told by the sales person at the Vodafone shop how good the phone would be and that I would be more than satisfied with the service they provided. Yes i was until i walked out of the shop and tried to use it.
I have had the phone for approx 7 months now and all through that time i have experienced poorer than average service. Phone calls dropping out. Slow loading web pages or not loading at all, Delayed SMS.
I was told by the sales rep when i bought the phone that it was not locked to the Vodafone network. Wrong. When i tried to test a Telstra prepaid simm in the phone i found out the truth. Once i managed to unlock the phone by paying the ripoff fee i found out for sure how bad Vodafone service was. Web pages loaded at waht i would call standard broadband speeds on the NextG network.
I have had occasion to call Vodafone customer care and waited for 1 hour 20 mins before i hung up.
Show me how to join this class action. I am in for sure.

5710 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Completely unreliable at 28 Dec 2010 02:06:27 AM
For the past nine months it's been an absolutely appalling experience trying to use my phone. 75% of all calls drop out at some point, half of those drop out in the first 10 seconds. Internet is completely unreliable, taking over 3 minutes to load the vodafone homepage on my iphone is an ironic example. I have spent hours on hold trying to talk to vodafone about it, most occasions I don't get through at all. It has even dropped out when I'm speaking to a vodafone rep several times and they have never called me back.
I've lost thousands of dollars worth of potential income as a result, and have had enormous strain put on my relationship. I'll be seeking compensation for both loss of work, and mental damages.

5 Jan 2011 09:38:18 AM: You poor baby..
10 Jan 2011 07:10:53 PM: I would too! It rediculous that they can get away with this! I'm going through the TIO right now because Vodafone is unreachable for me.
I have the same problems with calls to customer service continually dropping out. You wait 45 mins and then when someone answers they get as far as "Hi my name is ****" and then the call drops out.
Oh and I love it when they launch an "investigation". They say they'll ring you back in five days when what they really mean is wait for ten days before someone rings up and says "How is this problem going?".
Not acceptable Vodafone.

I was with Vodaphone for some time on both pre-paid and plan. In 2008 in the month of March I was on vacation in the Philippines. Before I left I organised my Vodaphone to be put on roaming by a Vodaphone representative, She was certain that and assured me my phone was now on roaming. So I embarked on my five week vacation to the Philippines. When I arrived I noticed my phone was not on roaming and I could not use it. Five days into my holiday I had an accident at a waterfall in which I sustained a badly fractured right ulnar and radius. These injuries required me to undergo surgery and being hospitalised for three days. Because my phone was not on roaming I could not contact my insurance company and the phone system in the hospital could not make phone calls outside there region. Because I was not able to contact my insurance company I had to pay in full for my surgery and hospital fees. This left me with no money for the rest of my holiday. It was lucky my injuries were not more serious because I could not even contact my family in Australia. You can not imagine how frustrating this was not to be able to contact your loved ones when you are about to go into surgery. When I returned to Australia I informed Vodaphone of what had happened and they were apologetic however refused to compensate me in anyway. I asked them to investigate this and was not informed in any way about an outcome of an investigation. I will never use Vodaphone again and I will always share my experience with people who are thinking of attaining a plan for a mobile phone.
3 Jan 2011 03:55:24 PM: Tip 1: if you arrive overseas and your fone is that important to you, buy a local prepaid sim
Tip 2:If you go to a third world country, take out the apropriate insurance, so if you do require surgery, you can be flown back to Australia

25 Nov 2011 05:24:15 PM: When someone tells me they are going overseas i say to them get a local sim so they don't get roaming charges and you get a local mobile phone number and the same with 3g umts modems and if you take a umts modem from australia you get charged aprox $15.00 per mb and i have herd of phone accounts running into the thousand of dollars with data on phone and modems and that is why get a local sim

7459 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mind blowing fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:35:51 PM
I signed up with them then when about to travel overseas, wanting international roaming turned on, thats all i was after.
while sitting at the airport waiting for my plane, I called the "customer service" line after 50 mins on hold my plane was boarding and had to hangup, going overseas without phone coverage.
Then, 3 months later when moving overseas i tried again, firstly going to a vodafone store, they told me they call the same number I do and may have to wait several hours.
So I though id just try again when at the airport. after over 1 hour on hold in the first attempt, then another 40 mins on hold an hour later ( had to hangup cause we moved areas and lost signal)
So now that I moved to newzealand, I emailed them (finally hunted down an address from their mess of a website.)
I told them i want to cancel my contract because of the horrid service.
They email me back stating they will send my final bill, they did, i got it in newzealand, but thought it's paid via direct debit.
Now the fun part.
8months later i move back to Australia, after no further contact from vodafone, not via the email address or actual post( I know they've got my address, i got the one letter)
I am greeted with a debt collection notice for $130 that when I call vodaphone they put me straight to the debt collectors office as soon as I give my details, not even telling me I'm bring transferred to a different company.
So i pay the bill, but afterward find out that I now have a flag on my name and nearly missed out on getting a home for my family because of a $130 debit.
No one at vodafone ever got back to me to clear my info or to let me ask why i was not contacted further regarding this outstanding amount.
I'll never go back to vodafone, not for ANY reason.

30 Dec 2010 06:03:25 PM: That sounds like a big load of shit. "Oh I am going overseas; might just leave it until I am about to board the plane to put international roaming on." Think about shit before you type it, internet warrior.
7 Jan 2011 09:11:26 AM: You are correct, a Telco default for even $130 can cost you a LOT more than the initial amount disputed in money, lifestyle and lost opportunity which you will never be compensated for. Telco defaults on people's CRAA's are one of the most common form of listings, damaging, and amongst the most expensive to remove, though the success rate is around 80%. Let me know if you want some assistance to try and remove it. PH

10 Jan 2011 03:50:05 PM: Time to clarify a few things:
@10 Jan 2011 05:21:39 PM: Nobody is destroying Vodafone except for Vodafone themself. All this site has done is bring a community together to show everyone they are not alone. This site would not exist if everything was 'peachy' because everyone would not be having problems. Again in case you missed the point of this post, Vodafone have put themself in this predicament, not anyone else. Finally the person that started this site did not start the class action (I don't even think he has registered for the class action, but I am not 100% sure if he has or hasn't), the class action was started by the Law Firm 'Piper Alderman', and they had already received many complaints from customers before this site was started.
So time to take some deep breaths, get your facts straight, and then come up with a common sense reply.

10 Jan 2011 03:56:41 PM: why are you even bothering to write positive comments on a CLEARLY anti vodafone site. They are the ones causing all these people with so much stress and stealing our money. we'll stop complaining when they fix there company and stop ripping everyone off
11 Jan 2011 04:00:08 PM: I agree, this is not a hate site. This is for people to share their experiences with Vodafone. It is a not site for people that come here either swearing their heads off or/and looking for a fight.
And get your facts straight man. Why come here if you know nothing about why you're here? Stop ruining this site for the rest of us.

11 Jan 2011 05:33:34 PM: Even if every post was a single new complaint about Voda say 11000 posts divide that into say 4000000 customers (theres more than that) and then say times in by 10 cos for every 1 that bothers etc...you get 2.75% of customers complaining including ones that haven't with very generous maths! Simple maths proves that the problem is affecting way less people then this site would make it appear. Talk about blowing things out of proportion. Soon things will be better for you 3% rest assured...

1221 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Major fail at 20 Dec 2010 02:02:59 PM
I went into my local vodafone shop today. To upgrade my existing plan to get a new iPhone 4 after asking the assistant if they had the 32gb in stock to which he advised yes we do. I told him I would like to upgrade my plan. He flat out refused stating due to a lack of stock upgrades have to be done over the phone. And will be waiting till the new year. I'm sorry but if the store has stock they can't be refusing to sell me a phone because they make less money off of it.
Has anyone else had this issue
Has anyone else had this issue
21 Dec 2010 01:01:24 PM: it isnt an option in store to do an upgrade. this was as of last week. all upgrades for iphones and galaxy s' are to be done over the phone. they will give you a credit of $30 to your bill and a delivery date of sometime in jan. They will give you a more confirmed date over the phone. hope this helped
21 Dec 2010 01:06:31 PM: Yes, sounds familiar! I could have had the iphone4 there and then last Saturday if I'd paid around $850 for it. Had to go through the call centre (35 minutes on hold) then the sales line (another 20 mins on hold) and they still wouldn't place an order for me unless I moved from prepaid to a plan. It took another 25 mins to get that in place. So now I will have an iphone 4 by the end of January. I wish I'd found this website before I placed the order!
21 Dec 2010 02:21:42 PM: It's not like the stores don't want to do it, the system prevents them from doing it, just won't let them procede with an order. So before you start launching into an attack on the staff, remember they don't make the decisions like that.
22 Dec 2010 08:09:39 PM: Sounds like you should be complaining to Apple for deliberately restricting the supply of iphones to keep demand and prices high. To be clear - NO ONE from a company store would refuse to sell you an iphone "because they make less money off of it" than selling outright. Systems permitting they would much rather upgrade you than have you walk out empty-handed. Shortage of iPhone 4 is a WORLDWIDE issue, not just a Vodafone Australia one.
27 Dec 2010 10:20:54 AM: To the guy who placed the order for the iPhone 4 above. You can always cancel your order as you haven't yet received your phone. Just a thought.

Its a hit and miss! Maybe I can make calls, maybe I can't. Maybe I'm contactable, maybe I'm not. Who knows what their magical formula for connection coverage is? What a welcoming experience ... in the first month they barred my incoming/outgoing because I had not paid the invoice. Funny thing (not) is that they barred me because their business sales rep. had not entered any of my details into their system. Then they threatened to re-bar me if I didn't now pay asap.
27 Dec 2010 09:18:49 AM: You can check all your details on the "My Vodafone" section on their website. It is the consumer's responsibility to ensure that the billing details are correct. Under "My Vodafone" you can track your usage, even un-billed usage, and check and ensure that direct debit details have been set up properly. Vodafone will usually try and contact you 3 times if payment has not been received. If they don't receive any response then they will disconnect - same as all carriers and service providers. If you need time to pay the bill, ask them for time and they will usually give it to you within reason.
27 Dec 2010 10:09:09 PM: So ... i'm guessing you work @ VodaFail !!! Get off these forums are deal with the real problems at hand ie - poor coverage, pathetic customer service.
Secondly, why appoint sales reps for business clients? Why have in depth conversations about what Vodafail can do for your business? Why discuss and promise special plans and discounts? ..... and then ... Why not record the customer's address, email etc ... and hey, while we are at it - Why not give the customer a call to alert them? It's a VodaFail Mobile Number - so i'm guessing they probably couldn't connect! No Coverage after all!

Recently, my partner and I signed up for the portable wireless broadband plan for 10gb a month. We were assured that we would have full coverage in our area, and that the coverage would be more than suitable for online gaming. We are lucky to have one bar of coverage, thus meaning that gaming is near impossible due to lagging issues and glitching. Furthermore, my iphone plan is with Vodafone, and I'm constantly going in and out of service when I was assured full coverage in my area.
27 Dec 2010 12:46:06 PM: gaming on wireless will ALWAYS be dodgy with any current network connection or provider I would think.
But yeah painful when you dont have standard service.

27 Dec 2010 08:37:49 PM: i agree only telstra wireless would be suitable for gaming.
27 Dec 2010 09:25:16 PM: Online gaming on a USB dongle is never going to be great. Even with Telstra is going to lagg like crap.

I have a $79 plan with Vodafone.
I was using my phone heavily due to a family incident.
I regularly tried to check the account balance on 1512.
The service "was temporarily unavailable call back later".
So I did call/sms and then try getting to speak to a human - who eventually conceeded the service had failed and was out of order for at least a week.
She referred me to the online web site and I could check it there.
I asked how can that be so if you cannot access it and help me - she said it works.
Two hours later trying online - and smsing the 1512 number - still "out of order".
Eventually after another week I started getting your service is abnormal please check your account usage by contacting us, using 1512 or checking online.
Still no access, no help.
I stopped using it.
Called the vodafone help line who said they could not help me as the balance and usage system was unavailable.
Funny 2 days later my bill was generated with a $432 bill for excessive usage.
When i called "customer service" and ended up speaking to a supervisor she said "you used it, you pay, or we will place it in the hands of a debt collector".
Being upset I wrote a letter and explained the situation and the lengths that I went to manage the situation.
Despite the letter with the detailed explanation I got a letter back "thanks for your recent letter, you used this amount of service so you are required to pay".
Thanks Vodafail.

5197 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Supercrap at 27 Dec 2010 08:54:45 PM
Vodafone mobile broadband connection is terrible. There had been a long strings of incident since I sign up with Vodafone back in March. All involving the same problem: I couldn't access the internet even when the coverage is saying "very good". First sign of trouble was not long after I signed up in Sydney. There wasn't a connection for 3 days. Took the USB back to the shop, thinking it was a hardware problem. To cut the story short, it turned out to be Vodafone's problem, something to do with "technical problem at Vodafone network". Service went back to "normal" (= slow, but working) afterwards.
I moved to Cairns in April and took the mobile broadband with me. Most of the time the connection is slow, which turn to super slow after 5pm, even when it's on 3G/HSUPA, connection dropped off frequently.
The next incident happened some months later. Couldn't access the internet for about 3 days again. Rang customer service, there was a recorded message saying that Vodafone was having some networks problems in some parts of Australia.
The latest incident was on Nov 31st - 3rd Dec. Rang their customer service which was obviously being outsourced to call centres in India. Spoke to VERY rude Indians who kept on saying there wasn't any problem, they kept on trying to shift the blame to my computer/other things even though after some "diagnosis" it was obvious it was their problem. They insisted that I was the only one in Australia who made a complaint to them! When I demanded to speak to a manager/supervisor, one of them cockily said "I'm THE most authority, you can't speak to anyone higher than me". The cheek of it, I'm sure he doesn't own the company, he doesn't even live in Australia!
I persisted and kept on ringing them. In total I spent 2hr 51mins 27 secs on the phone with them, mostly being put on hold, before they finally gave me an "escallation reference number" to investigate my complaints. Good thing I have a spare Vodafone SIM card, otherwise I would have spent a bomb ringing them from my Optus mobile phone as I don't have a landline. Every single time I rang time, they kept me waiting for at least 20-40mins. before I could speak to a REAL person.
Afterwards I lodged a complaint through Vodafone's website, about the appalling rudeness of their customer service (what "service"?!), telling them that I'm not going to pay for a service I didn't get - why should I pay for my broadband subscription if Vodafone isn't providing what they're obligated to fulfil in a contract (= a broadband service). After some email exchanges, they agreed to waive my subscription rate for the month. It's the first time I kicked up a big fuss about it and I think I should have kicked up a big fuss at other times, too. Afterall, a contract binds not only a customer, Vodafone is also bound to deliver the service I've signed up to!!!
I'm glad I'm not "the only one in Australia" who aren't happy with Vodafone. Bring the job back to Australia, those Indians didn't even know how to treat a customer respectfully.

7835 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Really Poor network in CAMP HILL BRISBANE at 28 Dec 2010 10:02:30 PM
I live 7km from Brisbane CBD (Camp Hill)and I get virtually zero data coverage and limited phone reception, I have to go outside to get a clear line...once I have a clear line it continually drops out. A half hour conversation may take 5-6 calls because the person I was talking to tries to call back after the line drops therefore it goes to voice mail when I call. So much for having internet on my phone literally does not work...where I live I get no data coverage, where I work I get no data coverage therefore I only get to use this when I am in the CBD.
25 Nov 2011 04:58:14 PM: The best way is go to the tio and when you phone vodafone get there employee number every time you call them and write it down in a note pad once you have done this call the tio by a landline phone 1800 062 058 www.tio.com.au and i had the same problem with optus and the tio can get into the departments where the public can't get to then the provider will call you and say i want to port my number out. I did it and i was in the middle of a 24 month contract and all i had to pay was the remaining payment on the handset and nothing to the rest of the contract and when i got the call i went to the telstra shop and ported my number and i haven't looked back and telstra uses 850 mhz on there next g and iPhones work very well on the network

I am a crazy johns customer..wish i wasn't. As we all know crazy johns uses the vodafone network. I am on the $79 unlimited cap, which includes 2GB data. There's not much point having 2GB data when it doesn't let you download anything over 5mb.
Furthermore, its a guessing game as to which messages actually reach recepitents, as well as messages i recieve from other people not always reaching me.
- Phone calls dropping out
- Cant download files
- Messages not being recieved
- Messages not being sent, even though it says they are.
While were on the subject, lets not all forget the Indian Operators, that almost every single phone carrier is using these days. If you have an issue, there's not point calling someone in India, as they 100% of the time have no idea whats going on, or just tell you "we are working to resolve this issue."
*No to vodafone

Since the merger with 3 Mobile its has gone toatally the other way.
I live on the Gold coast and work in Brisbane. I only ever had one small drop out spot at Pimpama and the Woolangabba, now when i leave home in Helensavle, I loose network coverage 3-5 times between there and Yatala....It keeps swithing for the 3G network to the 2G network the GSM network It drives me insane. I have never had an issue with coverage in Runaway Bay but since the 3 merger, I have the worst reception.
I have lost my faith in Vodafone and will be moving to Optus as the first available opportunity.
Dont even get me started on Delayed Text Messages and emails..........

Yesterday I was telemarketed by a Vodafone Direct employee (02 8061 8120) who said he was looking at my account usage and he commented that I "made a lot of calls". I told him he would have seen that over the last year about 80% of my calls are consecutive repeats to the same number at the same time due to Vodafone system failure and that their actual bill should be about a quarter of what it is. About a second later the call was terminated by him (maybe the phone dropped out?) BUT HE NEVER CALLED BACK!!!!! He had hit his complaint kill switch - HAHAHAHAHAHA - it proves the point doesn't it.

11119 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgraceful at 7 Jan 2011 04:13:24 PM
I am (was) a very long term Vodafone Customer who up until approximately 12 months ago was reasonably content with their service. I accepted poor coverage in regional areas and was constantly assured every time I took out another contract that 'the network was undergoing upgrades and would continue to improve'. It has since got progressively worse and is now completely unreliable and for the most part, unusable.
Living near the Brisbane CBD I now suffer continuous dropped calls, 1 bar of 3G (if I'm lucky), sporadic and poor data downloads, late SMS or voicemails, poor battery life due to continual network searching and an Iphone that works wonderfully as an Ipod and media device. It certainly doesn't run up a huge phone bill as it is spectacularly useless as a phone.
I also have a 3G mobile broadband USB device that has failed to work at all in terms of receiving my supposed 3Gig of free data per month. After numerous complaints and the standard 'technical investigations' Vodafone agreed to reduce my account by $10 per month after it admitted I lived in a poor reception area (7 kms from the CBD on a hill????).
So now I have a 3G USB device that serves nicely as a paperweight and an Iphone that I can listen to music on.
I now have to rely on a Telstra prepaid (a common theme from others on your website) to make calls. My constant complaints to Vodafone in relation to my phone reception was constantly met with the advice 'Switch your phone to 2G'.
If I wanted a 2G phone I would have damn well bought one. I paid for a 3G service and I don't have it. However their complaints system is so poor, wait times are so long, and requests are met with vague and generic 'investigations' or 'transfers to another team' that their expertise in bureacracy and spin rivals that of 'Yes Minister'or a team of spin doctors on Red Bull.
I contacted Vodafone last night (3 separate calls with an average 40 minute wait time) and advised I was cancelling my service. I was offered the same...wait for it...'technical investigation' (read stalling tactic)and advised I would have to pay the rest of my 18 months of payments (nearly $1200) to be released.
I am now working in direct support of the Queensland Floods in a senior planning position and my phone is critical to my work. I now have the phone switched off and transferred to another phone in order to ensure I am contactable.
I intend to pay the full amount as I am sick to death of dealing with customer service and their mythical 'technical investigations' (you don't need to be a communications engineer to determine that the network simply can't cope with so many smartphones competing for bandwidth)and leave in absolute disgust. Evidence will suggest that a bad customer experience generally results in advising at least ten of your friends of your experience. I intend to tell as many as I can to steer clear of this network as it continues to offer cheap deals and handsets with minimal or no reception.
I have contacted Australia's largest Telco who are very happy to match Vodafones price and guarantee the quality of their network. They also offered an incentive to transfer (they must be doing a roaring trade) and expressed they are dealing with many Vodafone customers who have given up in sheer frustration.
I am now nearly $1200 out of pocket and disgruntled with exceptionally poor serice and coverage. Quite simply I have had enough and will never go back to Vodafone.
I sincerely hope many others are released from their contracts, I have chosen to give up rather than spend my valuable time battling a huge corporation.
Incidentally I am more than happy for anyone from Vodafone to assess the veracity of my complaints and view for themselves the poor state of reception in and around Brisbane (not forgetting the national highway system, regional areas, inside buildings and in full view of Vodafone towers). I doubt however, that they will and fully expect the customer service offer of a 'callback; in 24 to 48 hrs (again a familiar theme on your website)will fail to eventuate, as will my 3G reception.

Agree with you about the discounts. Not worth much. Prefer to be receiving a reliable service where we can confidently make and receive calls and text, and an internet service that is usable.
Not a cent worth of discount, not a bar worth of reception.
