26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

ok im a three customer, have been since 2004. i have been very happy with their service. BUT since they merged with vodafone, the sales staff instore appear to be rude and unhelpfull. they basically brush me off and give me the 3 customer service number. soon as i say im with 3 they blank me out instore and try to get me to sign up with vodaphone. has anyone else expirienced this? extremely rude and disrespectful. i dont know if i would still stay with three. the old 3 stores were run by fantasic people, never had a problem with them.

i cannot receive any messages or phone calls at my own home, and they tricked me into a new contract.

i was told i could continue my contract on my phone from my 3 plan, with the new galaxy s but because i was continuing the contract i had to pay a bit extra off the phone which was fine because i knew my contract would end THIS july. However to my suprise i find out i was put on a new contract and i have to stay on this phone for ANOTHER HELLISH YEAR! i cant even talk to my friends! and what if my car breaks down, i dont get alot of reception where i live let alone the many black spots. I am so angry its not funny. If i wind up stranded because of them they are getting a serving.

Connected to $39 per month ( HTC DESIRE HD $380 calls, 1.5G data) on 17 June 2011. First bill, got excess data charge totalling $829, plus they mentioned $260 to unblock my internet access after being blocked. Funny thing is I printed out my usage and all the way upto when they say I started to exceed my data, the sessions were $0.43, upto maybe $2.00 - this was when I first got the phone and was actually using it alot, then suddenly once I had exceeded my data there were $80 sessions, either while I was travelling for 2 hrs, or at work not using phone. I have just about everything turned off because of poor battery life with HTC Desire HD, I am well aware of data transfer as worked in IT for 7yrs, I use another wifi device at home so dont use data. Have been using mobile phones and internet for bout 20 years, so know how much data I use. Three promised phone calls not recieved. Have contacted TIO awaiting follow up
25 Jul 2011 09:09:56 AM: Could you please post update as I have similar problem. Also have HTC Desire - am being billed extra data usage which I am quite certain I did not download (also at odd times & being connected for 6-7 hours) - also did not have automatic updates, P2P, VoIP etc. So would be interested to hear about your outcome.

18895 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Totally Shite at 23 Jul 2011 09:55:19 PM
Have had an iPhone 4 from Vodafone for the past 9 months. Phone continually loses signal, calls drop out, can't receive calls (goes straight to voicemail 80% of the time), data is extremely slow if it works at all. Contacted them several times, first few times they confirmed there was a weak signal (although I am in the heart of Adelaide) and it should improve soon. Now they are telling me that there is no problem, their investigation team are reporting there are no faults in my area and I should have perfect reception.... but I don't! The reception just keeps getting worse and worse. It can't be the phone, as I used it in Sydney and Melbourne recently and had perfect 5 bar reception the whole time I was away. what the hell do I do now???? I can't afford $60 per month for a phone I can't use!

18885 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is MEGA at 22 Jul 2011 09:10:26 PM
Was offered last 2 months of my 24 month contract free in order to gauge reception improvements etc in order for Vodafail to retain me as a customer. To confirm, I asked the customer officer again, "are you referring to call expenses above the cap?". He said, "yes." The contract has now ended and they expect me to pay the bills. I asked the Supervisor today to pull the recorded call to confirm what was said. The Super stated they don't record all calls. Can you believe that. A telecommunications company who don't record the calls. So basically my word against theirs. I attempted contact with a friends overseas mobile a number of times which was displayed as 1 sec in time @ $2.32 each. No F@#%$&^% way I'm gonna pay! I knew how many rings before the call would pick up and go to VM. Nobody at Vodafail is willing to help even though things were documented. I am simply not going to pay - take me to court, I don't care. They are all incompitent liars !!!!!!!!!!!!
26 Jul 2011 01:26:37 PM: Get in touch with the TIO.. Few people know that if your ph company cannot satisfy your complaint, once it has been referred by the TIO, it costs the company at least $1400 to dispute your case. Therefore any disputes that come in under this amount, they are inclined to just award you what you are asking for. But you MUST get a case number from the TIO to really convince them.. Good luck.. :o)

18879 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Constant Fail. at 22 Jul 2011 12:13:45 PM
I'm located in Adelaide city and over the last two days, Thursday 21/7 and today Friday 22/7 I haven't been able to use internet from my iPhone 3g or 2g. This is unusual though I admit.
24 Jul 2011 04:23:48 PM: Interesting - I am in Adelaide too and have had exactly the same problem. I have been having ongoing data problems, but it started looking like Vodafail had got it right. too bad!
27 Jul 2011 02:03:43 AM: I'm in the city too, what started out as poor service has just got worse and worse. They investigated it and told me there was no problem and that my area has good reception.... yet 2 Voda Mobiles and a Voda mobile Internet all have next to no reception. Funny that the one Telstra mobile in the house always seems to have 5 bars and has never dropped out once though....

18854 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is extremely excellent BLEUGH!!! at 21 Jul 2011 01:20:43 AM
Phone internet. Half the time won't load pages. I have had to turn my internet in and off over 10 times just to post this. 4 bars of signal (full) but my battery usage meter displays my signal strength as a dirty brown (v. Weak) with tiny green bits here and there (clear signal). Funnily enough I'm no more then a k from the nearest tower in the open outside at night. Should have a clean run. Apparently not, apparently its normal to have to reset your phone 4 times and your internet connection 30 times in the course of 4 hours of using the internet, mainly using 1 or 2 websites during that time. Practically unusable.

"No Service" at Maid and Magpie Hotel standing out on the road or around the building. There used to be a Vodafone business centre just up the road.

Saturday 25/06/2011 there was a unplanned Vodafone outage for half of Adelaide. ETA for the service to be fixed was 18 hours.

Wednesday 29/06/2011 unplanned outage in Mt Barker around 10.45pm ETA for the service to be back up and running was 6am on the 30/06/2011.

Pathetic.

18568 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Epic at 29 Jun 2011 09:03:41 PM
Over 6 months ago when I went to buy a replacement broadband 3 modem from a 3 vodafone shop, the sales guy convinced me to sign up for a 1 month contract with vodafone saying I would get an extra 2 gig per month more for the same price I was paying with my 3 contract. From the very first time I tried to conennect to the internet it it malfuctioned and since then I regulary get disconnected. I was told I was in a excellent coverage area but when I try to use it it says either poor or very poor signal. Once a week I ring vodafone trying to get the disconnection issue resolved. Months later one of the customer care people told me how to unistall the dongle modem driver which fixed the disconnection issue temporarily, at least once a day I've need to unistall the driver. Then vodafone came up with a brilliant idea and sent me a free wifi loading dock (no driver needed) and a new mega modem. I waited 2 months for both the loading dock and the new modem to arrive in the mail not 14 days as I was told. My modem singal was boosted but the disconnection problem got worse, so I've gone back to using my old vodafone modem with the faulty driver. Recently they tell me if I get a new blank sim card the disconnection issue with the wifi loading dock and new mega modem will be fixed. I went to the local 3 vodafone shop today and they dont stock the blank sim cards. I rang four differnt 3 vodafone shops in my city and each time I got a message saying the vodafone shop phone number was either incorrect or disconnected.

Just got vodafail a week ago and it if the worst service I have ever had. Takes 20+ minutes to load driving directions and even then usually times out before I ever get a map. The server seems to be constantly down. Their data service is virtually unusable. No point in having an iphone from vodafail. Completely useless.

18535 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is ULTRA FAIL at 26 Jun 2011 07:34:31 PM
We have been contacting Vodafone over the course of 6 months, due to lost coverage, cant make or receive calls, cant send or receive texts and cant access data. Every 2 weeks we are on the phone with Voda.

We have lost angry clients who kept getting cut off, clients that have gone with someone else because we couldn't respond to them, we had enough and contacted them to resolve it once and for all in April... 4.5 hours and 17 transfers around the world later, we thought we resolve it, but its still an ongoing battle with TIO involved. Hopefully settling by end of June. Luckily, we have been able to get out and have received the best service ever from one of our colleagues who provides personal account management and can help fix your problems, best service we ever had, we didnt only save money, but get fast, friendly and reliable service which we've never experienced with any other Telco. We have pasted the link to his website below and highly recommend anyone to call him to get help

<<Web site name removed>>

Thank God we are (almost) off VodaFail!!!
26 Jun 2011 08:33:07 PM: I have had to removed the web address as it may be construed as touting for business.

I have made a separate secure note of the web address and shall be in contact with the Vodafail.com owner for further advice.

My wife's Vodafone phone contract has EXPIRED. We no longer want the 'ahem' service(?). Called their customer support (laugh) and was told that they couldn't terminate the contract because it was 'outside of business hours' Now apparently we have to wait '24 to 48 hours' for somebody else to call my wife at THEIR convenience, (not my wife's). No doubt they'll try to talk her out of cancelling just like they did with the OUT of CONTRACT mobile broadband we eventually got cancelled only after involving the TIA. Well, we also have TWO other Vodafone contracts and as soon as they're out of contract, they're going as well. That will be four contracts that will NOT be renewed with Vodafone.

Charged $86 for Internet usage yet have no signal most of the time and do not use the service as it drops out or is dreadfully slow.
Cannot find anyone responsible to air my complaint except gentlemen and ladies based in India who have no idea what it means to be in Australia and are generally unsympathetic as the problems I am having bear little relationship to the life they are leading.

Got our internet bill for an 8 gig (sorry 6 gb + 2 gb extra, why don't they just say 8 gb since there's no 6 gb?!) contract with a wireless modem, we barely reached the 8 gig limit on the metre by the end of the month yet we're being charged for using almost 12 gb!! There's no way in hell that we used that much internet!

On top of them over-charging our internet this month, they also overcharged my mobile which is under a different name and on a seperate contract! And the internet is constantly saying it's connected by nothing will load (at 3 am, I doubt it has anything to do with server overload!)
18 Jun 2011 09:23:07 PM: I got the same problem, internet connected but nothing loads! Yet still takes your data. This is unacceptable but they don't care and have no solution for me. Don't know what to do!!!
19 Jun 2011 02:58:13 PM: Both of you need to go to the TIO, sooner not later.

The TIO will *suspend* any over payments until a mutually agreed solution can be found.

Details of the TIO are in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

Good luck!

18404 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is 3 Customer at 14 Jun 2011 06:00:26 PM
I was a 3 customer,
Last year when I resigned I didn't know that Vodafone had taken over the service.
Maybe I didn't read it in the fine-print.
Certainly no one explained it to me in the shop where I signed up.
I never liked Vodafone and I never wanted to be a customer of theirs after troubles I had with them while traveling in the UK.
Am I now stuck with useless service, incoming calls constantly diverted to VM, no reception, poor SMS delivery and dropped calls or is there a way I can cancel my contract without incurring large exit fees.

Not only have I had to put up with the stock standard faults such as calls dropped, 0 reception, poor internet, and delayed texts..but by far the worse is delayed voicemails! I received two notifications of voicemails, each being left on separate days, that had been left FOUR days ago....these voice-mails were from my employer...I missed out on two shifts...that's $400 I missed out on because of you Vodaphone. Also, my friends and family think I'm rude because I don't return their calls or voice-mails - I received a voice-mail today from a message recorded by my brother YESTERDAY..AND my phone never rang nor even recorded receiving a call from him??! Just signed up this afternoon and found this website. D**n it. Currently sitting in Mawson Lakes and using both Optus and Vodafail. Can see the clear differences. My optus Nokia mobile always shows 3-4 out of 4 bars. nearly perfect. This device is a year old FYI. My brand new bling bling Nexus S on Vodafail normally shows 0-1 bar out of 4. What the heck is wrong is Vodafail. The dealer showed me the coverage map and told me that it is working fine and added he has a friend up in Mawson Lakes on Vodafail. Wanna terminate the contract.

My fellow UniSA engineering students... Voda is nothing but failure!
8 Jun 2011 01:39:05 PM: Go back and terminate the contract. Just do it, immediately. I switched to Voda 8 months ago, and it's just been pure hell. You *have the right* to a working mobile phone. Voda are clearly in trouble with the Trade Practices Act, and you have the right to expect reasonable coverage so that your phone can operate.
Now that you know what you do, go back & get out of this straight away. And INSIST on no fees or charges. Others have got that - eventually, if their cases are good. And no coverage in your area at all - that's a good case. [If you want to improve your chances, call Voda first & get through to their technical team and report a reception problem in your suburb. That way there's at least 1 report, which may help later on with avoiding fees. In my experience, few people actually report poor reception in a suburb, they just whinge about it & cop penalty fees.]
RUN!!

Anyone noticed how voicemail is schizophrenic these days since the new up(down)grade?

You've missed a call, whoever leaves a message. Voicemail calls you until you answer or until you call it, in order to listen. You save, delete or hang up & that was it. Now it calls you back after you delete to tell you have NO messages. Who's the head of vodafail IT? Mr Bean?

Just now & always in response to when I have something to say to them, another propaganda email arrives proclaiming how they are saving the world with their brilliance while nothing really changes. After a decade with vodafail, I'm aiming to go back to the telco I swore I'd never return to, telstra. You get what you pay for.

I had a few calls come through that I did not answer, I got a text message to tell me I missed a call (I already know this as my phone notifies me of missed calls!, nothing new there) and then the voicemail. i deleted it, then voicemail kept calling me, I answer, it tells me I have no messages. This is just dumb! And I better not be being charged for their new text notification service. I want it back the way it was.

Well i signed up to voadfone back in perth was told coverage was wonderful that was b.s.Since being on their network ive had nothing but trouble and dropped calls missed calls even in my own house here. They are trying to say its from the insulation in my roof.Well funny that because it was happening outside in the backyard too. Also sms messagesd that i sent werent getting to people till up to 24 hours later or not at all i rang them again about this the excuse was oh the network must have been busy. Also internet acces is useless as well constant drop outs and unable to access sometimes at all,3rd world countries have better internet access than vodafone does.Since being onto the ombudsman plenty of times i had the contract cancelled but im still recieving bills from these morons and well im just throwing them in the bin and when a debt collector turns up im going to tell him to shove off vodafone is the most useless network out there...Im sure to tell other people that you are better off with someone else other than vodafone dodo network is better and has better coverage but i go into rural areas somethiem and trust noone even though they are expensive ive gone back to telstra...Vodafone should be ashamed of their network and also their customer service people they take ages to answer the phone and cant even speak english properly useless vodafone shame on you ....basically legally scamming people out of their money....utterly disgusted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ported from 3 to Vodafone 9Apr. On 6May I received a message saying I was $85 odd over my limit. I phoned V/f. On 10May I found I was 196 off over and hadnt used the internet since 6 May when I got my excess message. They disconnected me from the internet - I agreed to it! I received my account for the month - $440 odd. How did it get to that. I havent used the internet in any way. Im on the Infinate plan and hardly getting any benefit from it. I only use texting/mms now and the mms sometimes can take up to 6 or 7hrs to get to the other end - Im only sending them to people in Aust. I get roaming a lot, get cut off on my calls (havent used that service for about 2wks now). Continually getting cut off a site and then it keeps reconnecting and reconnecting and reconnecting without getting anywhere. Ive contacted the Ombudsman and am trying to get in contact with the person from V/f, the last time on Mon, asking her to phone me on my landline when I got back from where I was staying. Didnt return my call so going back to Ombudsman. Im fed up with it. NEVER have I been billed so much. They had the gall to tell me on the 6Apr to increase my plan by 1Gb. The last time I called last Thur I think, I was told I had used 3Gb - where/how. How can you do that when you arent connected to the net? I only paid the $49 for the month because Im disputing the amount I am supposed to owe. I dont care what they say, Im NOT paying it. Under the circumstances, I feel they should spread that non existent usage across 2 months. Im fed up with the N8 freezing all the time, so am taking it back and going to demand a new phone. I will not have it sent in for repair. Its frozen about 4 or 5 times since Apr 9!

18194 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Poor Reception 3G at 30 May 2011 06:42:55 PM
Having arrived from UK 12 months ago my partner and I set about obtaining a Mobile Phone Contract and both chose Vodafone. We both took up the 24 month iphone 3GS contract with 1GB data on a $79 cap plan + $10 insurance. Everything was relatively fine at our address in metro Adelaide. It was a weak 3G signal but a signal nonetheless. However a change of employment for us meant a house move to Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills, about 40-50km from Adelaide. I have now found I have only an extremely slow Edge signal for data and an intermittent phone signal.
Since moving home three days ago, I have had 7 calls drop out mid call. Other problems have been that I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. This is not a handset problem because if I drive back to Adelaide it's fine again. It's all very frustrating.
I spoke to Vodafone Customer Service who told me that the 3GS was not compatible in Mount Barker and that I would need to upgrade to an iPhone 4 at a cost of an extra $20 p/m + $384 final payment at the end of the contract for the cost of the new phone. Something to do with frequency on the 3GS.
I enquired about cancellation fees and they pretty much came back with a figure similar to what was remaining on my contract so I would have to be extremely foolish to pay that.
So seemingly I am now stuck with a contract with 1GB data I cannot access, and a 2G phone signal with intermittent call drop outs, at a total cost of $79 p/m until April 2012.
I have checked with the other networks like Optus and Telstra and they can guarantee a 3G signal.
I really wished I hadn't signed up to Vodafone, what seemed like a saving at the time, a $79 cap was very enticing, has now turned into a costly error.
I checked the Vodafone planned upgrades of the network and Mount Barker is not listed.

NOT HAPPY!!

I signed up in Melbourne and moved to Adelaide in the last few weeks. I am extremely disppointed with the data service in both locations and would like to get out of it. The service is practically unusable. Sometimes the Pocket WiFi just drops internet altogether and just goes to a 'local' network only, as if I had one. At other times perfectly sensible web pages give a Windows error screen as if the connection has dropped. Go back and try again and it goes onto the page. At other times the pages take forever to load and I just give up after a few minutes. This isn't how it should be. And after many years of sending and receiving emails from various phones, I can receive emails but have tried everything but cannot send from my Nokia E71. Just can't fathom it. Would love to go onto something better. The service is so bad I don't know how I managed to rack up an extra AU$65 in data charges in the first month in a 1GB package. I wish they had warned me. Luckily this month it is only AU$16 extra with 6 days to go. Not a word from them - a vary convoluted logging in process to find this out.

Most of the usage was over the long weekend when I had no service at all! Showing blocks of 7-8 hours of usage consistently, even when im sleeping im apparently surfing and downloading. Not happy. Then they offered me 50% reduction on my $2k bill for a month!

I contacted a Vodafail Supervisor this afternoon to cancel my contract. I am 2 months out from the end of a 24 month plan. I took out a $69.00 p/m plan for 2 Blackberry Storm 1 9500 handsets. The Supervisor advised (after checking with his "technical department") that any Blackberry Storm purchased prior to 18 March 2010 are UNABLE to be UNLOCKED from Vodafail due to Blackberry factory default settings. OMG - nice paper weight. The Amaysim sim card and pre paid voucher I purchased are now useless unless I purchase a cheap handset. The Supervisor told me he was unable to assist with this issue. Told the Supervisor Vodafail need to accept liability as they were trying to talk me into upgrading to a iphone4 24 month plan at min $29 p/m +15 p/m for the handset (reduced from $18.00). How can they onsell a product to their customers then leave them in the lurch?????

18108 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Billing Bullcrap at 24 May 2011 01:51:21 PM
I'll make it clear that I have now changed carriers, but will continue with this nightmare story. I used to have a broadband account with V'fone, but due to spending more time at dial-up speeds and complete drop-outs rather than being connected.I logged multiple job request to rectify the situation to no avail.I asked V'fone to terminate my contract because they were not delivering the product I had paid for and I stopped receiving bills. 8 months later I receive a request from a debt collection agency to recover $300 on behalf of V'fone, and since I was to depart for an O/S trip the following day and had plans to apply for a home loan in the near future I settled the account with the debt collection agency, I did not want to have any credit "black-flags" against my name so felt compelled to finalize it. On my return from O/S, I rang V'fone and tried to recover my funds from them.
I was bounced back and forth between departments for 3 hours to try and settle this affair, made all the more difficult because of the thick accents of the call center operators and more-so because nobody had any clue how to handle my case.
In the end, they brushed me off, saying that because I had paid the debt collection agency, the matter was out of their hands, and then refused to credit me the amount to another mobile account that I held with them.
Simply, they billed me for a service that I was no longer a part of, and then refused to give me my money back when challenged.
Recently, when I changed carriers, the credit black-flag made it very difficult to convince another telco-carrier to take me on as a customer.
Every time I see the V'fone logo, I see red in more than one way.
Screw you very much V'fone.

I signed up with vodafone 6 months ago and did not recieve one bill, after months of tryig to contact them with my calls being dropped or me being on hold for over 45 minutes I gave up, only to recieve a text saying were cutting off your services the following week unless I immediately pay the outstanding amount. Im a year 12 student who doesnt work as of the workload at school my only income is youth allowance. I rang up vodafone to resolve this issue and instead of cutting off my services the following week they cut me off straight after the phone call mind you the guy on the phone was laughing at me when I tried to make a payment plan. Now there handing my case over to debt collecters unless i pay the full $500+ amount in the next 24 hours. I asked to speak to an ombussman and they left me on the line and told me its my responsibility to chase up a bill. I cant afford to pay the current amount neither can I afford for this to go on my credit rating. I dont know what to do?? anyone??
19 May 2011 10:34:14 PM: You would need to speak to the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman is not somebody who works for Vodafone, so they can not transfer you over the phone. Google 'TIO' for details.

12 May 2011 11:25:17 PM: Have you asked for a swap or do you expect a new phone to be automatically sent to you? Generally they will replace a phone for a refurbished phone of the same model if it's the 2nd repair. After that if it has already been repaired twice you can call Customer Care and 95% of the time they will allow you to swap your phone for a different model of equal or lesser value (or more value if you pay the excess.

I'll try not to come across as racist because I am far from it and I'm sure it's been said many times before. The Vodafone call centre is beyond a joke. I have been in contract with the company for 2 years now and have called them for a range of issues as I understand many things cannot be done in a retail store. Almost every time it is as if I am speaking to somebody with zero knowledge of their own product and absolutely no care for their customers. I have been rudely told the words "bad luck" when one of the call centre staff obviously had no interest in helping me when I had been misinformed.

I make sure to speak clearly, slowly and explain my requests or issues in a way that cannot be misunderstood. I am faced with advisors trying to transfer me to other departments (often an incorrect department who then transfer me again and again whilst I have to re-explain everything each time), putting me on hold for upwards of 15 minutes and even disconnecting the call.

I have had staff listen to my entire issue, put me on hold, then come back onto the phone after a long period and ask "so what is it you would like me to do for you" or even come back with a resolution for something entirely different to what I had just explained. It is as if they are reading from a script. Aren't they supposed to be the experts? Even I seem to know more than they do as a consumer!

Then last week I upgraded my phone. I was going to do this in a store but they were out of stock so I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to do this over the phone. I was transferred to an Australian department. They were incredible! They understood everything and it was completed in minutes. They were friendly and didn't sound like robots.

So is the solution to move the call centres back to Australia? Not necessarily, but I think there needs to be a much higher level of training in India and the culture of caring for customers needs to be drilled into their heads. I don't know how they treat consumers in their own country but it certainly isn't the standard here.
12 May 2011 02:55:45 AM: And before anybody asks why I stayed with the company, I have many family and friends with Vodafone and enjoy the free calling, so fingers crossed that I have no more issues

I signed up with 3 without being told they were part of Vodafail as I was leaving them because I was sick of the crap reception, service and everything else. I've been with them (3) for nearly a year and have had 2 bills sent to me in the ENTIRE time!!! I have been sick for the last 6 or so weeks and on crutches and hadn't thought about my mobile bill (my home and internet is through Telstra and they gave me a courtesy call to say that my bill was overdue and once I explained my situation they said they understood and would accept payment with my next bill) - anyway back to the point I logged onto the website to see if I had a bill due, and I find that instead of my $79 bill that I was expecting they want me to pay them nearly $200 and I don't know what for as I don't have an itemized bill!!!! On Monday morning I am planning on putting in a complaint to the TIO as I want out of my contract because I get charged for "roaming" when I'm in my own house!!!! I don't care if I have to pay out the phone, but I'm not paying them a cent until I can see in front of me what all the charges are for!!!!
6 May 2011 10:06:54 PM: Having spoken with numerous people in overseas countries where English is DEFINITELY NOT the first language, I have had the extra charges dismissed, and will more than likely be having my contract cancelled as when I signed up they FAILED TO DISCLOSE the "coverage issues" they have and have known about in my area for YEARS!!!!! All I am waiting on is a phone call from someone in the next 48 hours from the appropriate department when I can tell them to shove my contract!

I was informed by vodafone that my handset was the reason why I was getting bad reception/dropped calls/talking to robots sounding voice etc. I had a Blackberry Storm so it was at the time a good phone. I upgraded through thier loyalty program (PFT what a joke) and got a HTC Desire HD (What I would consider to be a top of the range phone) and my reception is evn worse. I live in metro Adelaide and cannot get reception in my lounge room. I was at the shop yesterday and could not make a call as I had no reception at all, Then I figured it out. Although I had walked into my local shop, I must have been incorrect as to the placement of said shop, whereas it is obviously located on top of a mountain in a foriegn country where I cannot get a signal.....silly me. In short Vodafone lied about my reception handset issues and tricked me into signing a new contract, issuing me with a new phone (Goodphone mind you) and delivering the same useless reception that I had before. Today, a customer came in to my store demanding that they have their prepaid MBB refunded as they could not connect to the internet on their laptop with their VF MBB device but that their friend, using the same laptop, could plug in his 3 MBB device and that it would connect. I asked him whether he had spoken to tech support through customer care. He said he hadn't and that he wasn't going to. I had a look myself, although I'm only as proficient as the average technology user. It was saying that 3 software on his laptop was conflicting with his VF software and so his device wouldn't work because it was not set as the default. I advised him to contact tech support and they would walk him through the process of having the software on his computer installed correctly so it would work. He said no because he wanted me to do it. I advised him that stores aren't designed for tech support and that it was nothing that he couldn't do himself. He demanded a refunded on the basis that his friends worked but his didn't. I advised him that it appeared it was because of this that he couldn't use his own. He continued to demand a refund. I asked if he had the receipt. He said no. I was lost for words. **If you are having problems with your service I am happy to do my best to resolve it for you. I have a small business and joined Vodafone, we have 3 mobiles and at the time the deal was too good to refuse, well the saying if the deal is too good it probably is. The drop outs were horrible but i must admit have improved.
The coverage is extremely poor, i don't dare leave Adelaide suburban area's because the coverage is useless, if i had of known this i would not have joined.

17383 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Reception issues at 26 Apr 2011 10:58:07 PM
Me and my partner was with "3", (2x iPhone mobile packages). We have had nothing but problems ever since "3"/Vodafail merged. We are lucky to get 2 bars reception on both phones. We see Searching or Roaming more than anything. I phoned 3 customercare and was advised to reset my phones, upload the latest update on iTunes and it will work! Yeah right, so I called them back and complained, still couldn't resolve the issue. So today I really cracked it and demanded that both my mobile phone contracts end without me paying a cent" after a hour and half and the call dropping out, I was issued with ALL sorts of bonuses. 3 months free usage, unlock both phones, was even offered to go to Vodafail because "they" have much better reception on our street (the first time they admitted 3coverage was crap! All I demanded was both phones to end! Well after yelling and screaming my $1500 cancelation fees were dropped! And we keep the phones! And as a bonus I'm not paying for my "3" wireless modem for 6 months! ( strangely I haunt had a problem with that).
If you Demand and keep to it you can get this cancelled, frustrated that it took a hour and a half but the best phone call made yet! 3/Vodafail you are no good and I am now happier to pay that little bit extra and go with Telstra ! I have 4 other friends that are with Vodafail and guess what! They are experiencing the same problem and will be making the same phone call tomorrow.
6 May 2011 10:13:40 PM: Have just cracked the s%#ts with them for the umpteenth time in nearly a year and it looks like I'll be leaving them free of charge as the failed to disclose they have "coverage issues" in the area where I live, and as my home phone and internet are with Telstra, they will quite happily switch me over to them, upgrade my iPhone 3GS to and iPhone 4 AND give me $200.00 credit to help cover my newly merged bills!!! You did well without having to threaten to go to the TIO like I did before they started talking about cancelling my contract because of "lack of disclosure" BS!

17371 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is unable to sms on 25.4.11 at 26 Apr 2011 10:16:23 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 31/2 years, and have put up with their failings, mainly because I detest telstra, a headless monster. My main issue is lack of coverage, living in regional SA. But there have been several occasions when I have gone for up to 4 days with no service and no customer satisfaction either.
30 Apr 2011 09:08:30 PM: If you live in regional SA then through no fault of Vodafone do you have no coverage. They would have advised you coverage could not be guaranteed in regional areas, and if they didn't then you should have researched your area with the tools they provide on the Vodafone site. You have already implied that Telstra has better coverage in your area, so agreeing to go with Vodafone only shows you agreed to take the risk with Vodafone's patchy regional service. If you don't like it, follow the albeit lengthy process and have yourself disconnected at not cost to yourself. Just be aware that they have to fulfill certain obligations of their own before they will release you free of charge.

I also have inetrenet and Android market connection fail regularly. I have a great phone (latest technology) that at times is useless to me. Come on Vodafone get sorted!!!

17367 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Failtastic! at 26 Apr 2011 10:03:36 PM
A few months ago for around about a week, most of my calls to my parent's Vodaphone mobile resulted in one sided conversations or tied lines with other people's conversations. I was able to listen in to one side of several different conversations. Luckily there was nothing too private that I came across, apart from someone talking about an insurance claim.
30 Apr 2011 09:10:53 PM: You will probably find that your sim card is faulty. Head in to a store and they will replace it at no cost. Simply make sure your contacts are either saved to your phone or swapped to the new sim card. The number will be carried across within a minute.

17357 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Four complaints in one at 26 Apr 2011 09:26:31 PM
One: For all the money Vodafone wastes on sending apology letters, spend it on fixing the damn connectivity issues! Two: How does free SMS for one day help me when I'm on an unlimited plan? Three: All of my online gaming friends have given up playing against me as they are sick to death of me dropping out all the time. Four: Explain how I can be in the hold queue on one phone, yet after 20 minutes of waiting I use another phone to call Vodafone and get straight through??? I am in Morphett Vale. Hardly a rural area.
30 Apr 2011 09:20:09 PM: One: They are putting enormous amounts of money into installing 850 GHz towers in order to boost their service, however sending apology letters is a necessity in order to ensure their customers are away they're making mistakes but are doing their best to rectify them. Both are necessary to a working business. Two: If you aren't able to send an SMS then be more social and make a phone call, given you're on an infinite cap it wouldn't cost you a thing anyway. If it wasn't worth making a phone call for then it wasn't worth the worry. Three: It wouldn't be advised that you use your vodafone internet connection to play online games as the connection isn't designed for that sort of usage. Not only is the connection run through the mobile towers, but the device itself only runs up to (and this is if you have the more expensive device) 3 Megbits per second - compared to your average landline broadband running at up to 12 Megabits per second, you should have really done some research if that's what you were looking for in your internet. Four: The waiting queue for the call centre isn't exactly a 'line' as you're assigned to a group of customer care attendants rather than the next free person out of the entire centre, meaning the two calls would have been in different groups.

17335 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Incredibly fail at 26 Apr 2011 08:48:29 PM
I own an iPhone 4, and only about 50% of my calls actually connect, the other 50% are either sent to my voicemail if they are incoming calls, or I have to redial twice, sometimes three times before my call will go through. I have four bars of signal continuously throughout my house and I also have employed the use of the iPhone bumper. I don't understand how a network like this can fail so much in a technological world such as ours.
Additionally, I rang vodafone about this problem about 3 months ago, and they said that no fix would be available in the foreseeable future, but gave me 50% off of my phone bill (ironically).
Since then, the network status page has been updated to include my area in the list of "towers to be built in 2011".
However, no matter how good the reception is after they build the tower, I'll be leaving vodafone at the end of my contract, never to return again.
30 Apr 2011 09:26:11 PM: The fault you're experiencing is with the handset itself. The iPhone 4 has an operating system that can sometimes have trouble connecting to the network, though it can be dependent on the handset itself. It has something to do with the fact that the iPhone attempts to draw a great deal of bandwidth from your nearest towers, and when there isn't a great deal available it continues to try to its own demise. This can be proved by turning off 3G and cellular data in your network settings. You will find your reception will visibly improve. If you are willing, head into a store and have them send it away for repair on the basis of reception and network faults. The handset will more than likely be replaced, which will hopefully fix the problem. Unfortunately until the network is updated to cope with the fault it cannot be fixed.

Recently travelled over seas with friends, we were charged for 25 calls to the friend we travelled with in a period of 20 mins although we were with them at the exact time Vodaphone are saying we were making the calls. Our friend also with Vodaphone had no incoming calls from my number nor was she charged for the incoming calls via the roaming charge. VODAFAIL alright they just try to rip people off as well as having poor customer service and no phone service. At our address we often go days without coverage. I hate this company

We use 2 vodafail phones for or business (HTC) the service is the worst. Continually dropping out signal strength does not exist in the Adelaide hills area and rural is a joke. Spend wasted hours talking to some one in India, always insisting that Vodafone coverage is exceptional, I refuse to allow them to correct my billing names or business association, I actually have a folder for Vodafone stuff ups at work now. The local store will not answer incoming calls and refuses to direct them to answering machine (Vodafone Marion). Will NEVER DO ANY CONTRACT AGAIN Liar's and cheats. This has cost our business dearly.

I was with 3, but got swapped over to vodafone, i can't get reception in the front prooms of my house, despite a tower being 350 or so metres away. I got told it was my handset, so i did as i was told and reset the phone and the problem still exists! The second time i rang them (from a landline) they told me it was my handset that was the problem, and that i would have to take it to be serviced. However when i told them that one of my mates, who was also in vodafail was standing alongside of me and had no reception either, i ogt told that that was impossible, as their system indicated there was nothing wrong with the network. I put up with not having service at the Clipsal 500, as did my mates, becuase they were experiencing a larger than usual call / data volume, but it hasn't stopped being a problem. the sooner i get out of this contract, the better. next stop Telstra - more expensive, but at least the staff in the shops seem to want to help you.

not in this mess anymore thankfully. Crazy Johns contract and once home with new phone could not get any reception in area that says on coverage map should have full coverage.
spent several hours on hold and talking to a brick wall (Call centre full of indians) and the final result.....you will have to pay full termination fees of about $900.
Tip: contact your crazy johns store and speak with the manager there. They were very helpful in the end and had contract terminated for me. Be assertive and request/demand things be done.

I also have Vodafone wireless internet and spend more time off line than on some days, and it drops out 4 or 5 times before I can even get my home page opened up. They are also virtually impossible to contact for aasistance at any time night or day and if you do manage to get through you cant understand what they are telling you.
