Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

19861 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is good result at 3 Nov 2011 11:20:10 AM
Vodafone were very slow to connect my new phone when transferring from 3 to voda. I complained and asked for my contract to be cancelled.
After a series of emails with vodafone they would not cancel my contract but did offer me two months free. I escalated my complaint to the TIO and it took one day and two more phone calls for Voda to agree to cancel the contract.
I guess it shows that the little guy can win sometimes.
I fully recommend to anyone else with a dispute with voda to make their complaint directly in writing and give them the opportunity to reslove the problem first. The TIO should be the second step.
Thanks to this website and the TIO I got the outcome I wanted.
Vodafone is still terrible though.

What is the aim of this website? What are you trying to achieve? Are you trying to shut vodafone down?
22 Aug 2011 10:58:09 AM: The aim of this website is stated on the front page of the site. In short I didn't get anywhere complaining through the normal channels so I started a website to bring everyone together and collect everyone's complaints. We then used all those complaints and wrote a report which was submitted to Vodafone and the regulators. In short we want Vodafone to fix it's service for all it's customers. When we first started they were denying problems even existed but now they improving their customer service and working on fixing their network.

I was released from my contract by the TIO back in March, and returned my phone etc as per the agreement.
It is now July and my win is that I think I have finally stopped them sending me bills- even though it took another TIO complaint and 3 consecutive nights on the phone trying to get someone to actually close it.
Phew! It took a while for me to find my way out of the maze at the Vodafone zoo - but glad I did!

I was reluctant to leave Vodafone after 10 years, as they've always been great in the past. So after about 8 months of suffering drop-outs, bad or no reception and delayed text message delivery, I decided to finally call Vodafone and cancel my contract (which is due to end in 3 months anyway).

I have to say, I agree with some of the other comments, that Vodafone really do seem to genuinely want to fix this for their customers. My call was answered very quickly and politely, and they were very understanding (I guess they have to be with the sheer amount of complaints they must get).

I almost feel bad for the company. Or at least for the lower level workers whose jobs might be at risk if this results in the company losing too much money and having to make cut-backs. They still take it seriously and were very helpful and curtious.

I ended up deciding the give them a 2nd chance, I figure with all the law-suits etc an end to this hideous service must be near, plus there's no guarantee that I would be better off if I moved to another carrier.

Vodafone allowed me to sign up for a 12 month contract instead of 24, which gave me a new iphone 4 with no upfront charges. They also credited my account with almost $300, and my next 3 months will be completely free too (my $69 plan fee anyway).

so to sum up, i believe in 2nd chances. I also believe that sales girl did a good job on me, :\
10 May 2011 12:03:10 PM: Congrats on getting a resolution that works for you. Vodafone did announce a number of big changes in February so hopefully they can deliver on those and you'll be seeing improved service. Vodafone can only improve if they know where all the problems are so don't hesitate to call them back if you are running into issues.

For many people though, Vodafone has already used up their second chance, so let's see how they go.

16879 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Contract cancelled, fees reimbursed at 21 Apr 2011 09:51:44 AM
After failed first mediation with Vodafone after initial contacting on TIO, I got another called from Vodafone yesterday. Apparently, there is a VF-TIO Liaison dept and this guy could not be more helpful.
He cancelled my contract and proposed to refund four (4) months worth of billing into my account. Not only that, but also I get to keep the Hub the first VF represented said I must return for the agreement to stand.
It does make me wonder why my legal requests could not be honoured in the first place and it is frustrating the ACCC is not more proactive in enforcing the laws relating to products/services being sold not being of merchantable quality, services being sold under false pretences.

16575 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Pretty good at 1 Apr 2011 12:34:21 PM
As a Personal Trainer, I need to have a mobile phone and a carrier that ensures that I get messages on time and phone calls that don't drop out. Vodafone has been dodgy with supplying both of these.
With this said, I have had excellent success with getting compensation from representatives when I have demanded it. I have explained why I want the compensation (usually citing loss of business or having my time wasted) and that if they fail to provide me with compensation, I will go elsewhere. They then try the whole "break contract will cost etc etc" to which I reply that under the trade practices act of Australia, they have failed to provide the products and services that were part of the contract I originally agreed to. So in effect, they have breached contract and I am free to do what I want. Given the reps lack of general understanding and knowledge of the Act, they cave and give me what I want.
On top of the phone issue, I had issues with mobile broadband with my iPad where they were taking more data from me than what I was using. I was able to prove that I was only using a certain amount yet they kept cutting me off saying I was using my quota. They ended up saying that if I connect to the net to check something on google (which may only use something like 100kb) I was charged for 1mb as it was rounded up. I stated they were falsely advertising the 250mb plan and that I wanted compensation. I got 6 months free but ended up canceling it anyway because of the horrid service.

Ultimately, if you know your rights as a consumer, you can play the trade practices act hand and come away successful.
I've helped 3 friends get out of contracts without TIO assistance so if anyone needs a hand, I'm happy to give it! I'm on twitter @jonokulicz if you want to contact me!
Power to you all! :)

16464 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is A well supported exit at 29 Mar 2011 09:07:47 PM
I put my case to vodafone that my plan with them was next to useless without adequate coverage at my place of residence. I had 12 months of usage statistics to help justify my claim i.e. I very rarely made calls after 5 pm and before 9 am as that is when I was home and unable to make mobile calls. A visit to the vodafail site made me realise I had been accepting an unacceptable service for way too long. The coverage map for my area says my service is good but it clearly wasn't. There was some resistance from the company to let me go (not unexpected and not unreasonable), and several offers of free access while network upgrades occured were made as was switching to "3". None of these offers were of enough benefit to me as I need a reliable service at home which could not be guaranteed, and in any case I had since gotten a landline put on to compensate. Short and tall of it was I was released from my contract 6 months early without penalty. There was a mix up with the last bill (i.e. I got one) but I anticipated that and had good records of my preceeding conversation with vodafone. I was along term customer and I had otherwise enjoyed good customer service, the lack of coverage was my only complaint, albeit a big one.

After a TIO complaint Vodaphone Business support in Tassie was a real help.

They offered to let me out of my contract and were helpful.

I still have about 60% of my calls drop out and ongoing issues, but i am saving the $600 per month i though i would save on my fleet of mobiles.

Thats because they dont always work!! lol

16414 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Great at 25 Mar 2011 12:55:43 PM
After suffering bad service for months with both broadband and mobile coverage

I decided to stand my ground and just kept calling back when I did not hear back from Vodafone. Once the 5 to 8 working days had lapsed when they were suppossed to call me back, I complained to Vodafone and then lodged a complaint with the TIO. I was released from my contract went to Telstra and whilst I am paying more, I have no issues in getting calls and texts straight away, the web upload is much faster as well.

From my experience and what I can see here is Vodafone's escalation process is

1 - Deny coverage issues.
2 - Offer 1 month free access.
3 - Offer 3 months free access.
4 - Release from contract but return phone.
5 - Release from contract and keep phone.

I would have spent a good 8 to 12 hours on the phone overall to get my issues resolved so my advice is to be patient and not accept anything less than Vodafone releasing you from your contract.

4 Apr 2011 06:55:27 PM: Man !! i should have read this before i accepted this afternoon - i only got to stage 4. I wonder if there is a stage 6 where they refund half of all your monthly bills because the service was available half the time (and if lucky, even that)....

16334 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Excellent - Love a bit of TIO action at 16 Mar 2011 11:46:46 PM
Plenty of muck around. I emailed a list of issues, then called and went through the same list. Explained to tech support what troubleshooting steps I had taken (eg. latest phone updates, factory reset, sim in another make of phone - no improvements). The proposed/completed upgrades list had no work scheduled for Townsville so I lodged a complaint with the TIO and 4 days later Choadafone sms'd me releasing me from the 2 contracts on my account.

Thank you TIO, good riddance Choadafone.

I was just persistent in telling them none of the alternatives they were offering me weren't good enough until the alternative was to be offered out of the contract cost free with 18 months remaining. If you honestly just get your phone sent away it takes a week just so you can prove that it is their inept network and not your phones fault you don't have reception then you can get out of it.

Emailed Vodafone (via this link http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/ask) with specific locations where I lose service in Brisbane and my full account details. Got a reply within 24 hours advising that the locations are due to be upgraded by the end of April (checked their website, they are) and they've given me two months free to compensate. Will wait and see if anything improves, if not I'll be off to the TIO.

15666 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Worked out at 17 Feb 2011 07:34:36 AM
After 8 years using Vodafone to run my business in Brisbane I saw red when I could only receive data services for a few hours a day since mid January. After many hours on the phone an investigation was launched and I just got SMS'd to say I am now released from two new contracts.
I will now happily pay Telstra the premium to guarantee uptime.
I'd also like to thank the Vodafone support staff who were all professional and were clearly as annoyed by the bureaucracy involved as I was. They are forced to follow procedure, unfortunately for the individual customer we don't know the procedure and the process is stressful and makes you think it is just your device or computer.

After spending over three weeks trying to make contact, then trying to explain my issue (very poor coverage) finally after getting no where with Vodafail I went to the TIO. I filled out my claim last Wednesday, the TIO contacted me to say that my claim had been sent to vodafone on Friday... then vodafone sent me a text today to say I had been released from my contract over 12 months early! I'm calling tomorrow to confirm, then signing straight up with Telstra, as the rest of my family are with them and have no issues.

15505 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is $450, plus 24 mth contract wiped-still negotiating at 11 Feb 2011 10:06:09 PM
Data usage was excessive, along with call drop outs, texts received hours later. Excessive billed amounts 7 times what it usually is, for last month.
Contacted the TIO which will take 3 weeks due to back log.
Vodafone have wiped last months bill $350 and we are negotiating this months bill to be wiped $100, I am out of the 24 mth contact with 13 months to go on the contract. Lastly I am negotiating to keep the phone. They wanted $170 for Samsung Jet touch phone. But I need it as evidence in court.

15455 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Reasonable at 10 Feb 2011 02:19:15 PM
I initially put in a complaint about the coverage (or lack there of) and the constant dropouts on my iphone 4. They told me to call back after a couple of weeks and see if there was any change. No change of course and I called back. I got put through to the cancellations department. After 1hr of back and forth with an overseas call centre consultant I was finally provided with 2 options.

1. Pay $550 and keep my iphone 4 and contract cancelled. (18 months left in contract)
2. Pay $0 and send the phone back.

I chose option 2. I advised them that I would like to keep the handset if they could reduce the cost, they wouldn't budge so I stuck with 2.

Now I just need to find a cheap plan to get a new iphone 4 on, preferably with telstra but going to be expensive, will be looking at Optus.

Overall glad to be done with vodafone.

Rang and complained about there crap coverage on deaf ears to vodafone. Put in complaint to TIO online. Received email from TIO saying vodafone have 10 days to respond/resolve my issue. So waiting patiently to be released (fingers crossed) from contract.
Just wondering if anyone that has followed this process has been denied to be exited from their contract?
Any ideas generally how long the resolution process takes?
Thanks :)
10 Feb 2011 09:07:28 AM: Think most people got out of contract, i got out but lodged a complaint with TIO, vodafone normally dont want to pay TIO fees so its cheaper for vodafail to release people, hope that helps......

After experiencing all of the usual issues with 3G including drop outs, delayed voice mail, unable to access 3G data and so on I complained via the online vodafone website indicating that I wanted to be released from my contract (6 months early) with the associated early termination fees. As expected no response whatsover within the specified 5 business days as promised on their website. Subsequently filed online complaint with TIO, within a day got a text from vodafone releasing me from my contract. Very happy to give them the flick :-)

1 year into my 2yr contract with iPhone 3gs. Service over the last 3 months was complete rubbish. Complained to Vodafone and they offered me 1 month free while the 'investigate' the matter.

I told them this was a 'no-go' and I wanted to disconnect without any fees. They put me through to cancellation department and insisted that I payout the rest of my contract - $750. I said this was unacceptable and I was going to complain to the TIO. They said "okay go ahead".

Lodged a complaint with the TIO on 17th Jan. By 2nd Feb Vodafone rang me and gave me the below:

- Released me from the contract without any fees
- Gave me the iPhone 3gs 16gb
- Unlocked the phone

So now I'm trialing Optus prepaid to see how the network is, if its good I'll stick. If not I'll be going to Telstra.

Just thought I'd share, cause it can be done. You just have to hold your ground and be persistent.

Good luck everyone!

Rang Vodafone to find out about cancelling on the 17th of last month. Was told they'd get back to me in 72hrs to advise the result of their "tests." As you can guess, I didn't hear from them. So I rang the next day - oh no, it takes 4-5 days to hear back and I would definitely know by the end of the next day. Naturally, I didn't hear anything from them all day Saturday OR Sunday, so I lodged an online complaint with TIO. Tried ringing Vodafone again last Thursday, got some bloke with an accent wanting me to yet again explain why I wanted to cancel. I politely told him that, with all due respect, I've already explained that on no less than 4 occassions and I am just after a resolution, so he transferred me through to some other department. As you can imagine, I was left on hold for a considerable amount of time, both before and after I spoke to the first person. When I eventually got off hold, I spoke to a nice guy in Tassie - can you believe it?! He said that his supervisor wasn't there, but he would contact me the following day, gave me his name AND the times in which he would call back. He didn't call back, but I did get that lovely text saying that I would be released from my contract from then on. They also said something about a letter detailing how to do all this, however I am still waiting for that... anyone here know what I need to do?! I'm getting sick of waiting AGAIN! But overall, WIN for me! Yay!
2 Feb 2011 07:46:14 AM: nearly the same thing I went through. After i got my text, i called and got put through to resolutions but I had to leave a message. Later that afternoon I called again and got through to Cancellations. He had the clout to hear my case and action it. Overseas call centre, but I give them praise for picking up and calling back. Call and ask for the cancellations dept.

I have about 19months left on my Vodafone contract. After problems with coverage, internet and telephone calls dropping out I have decided it best to changer carriers as Vodafone is becoming too painful. I phoned Vodafone this morning and lucky for me I was only transferred three times and within 45 mins and the representative admitting there were coverage problems in my area I was offered to cancel my contract. I have been advised a parcel will be sent out for my handset to return to Vodafone, I can transfer my number from today onwards to another carrier and all cancellation fees will be credited.

My only concern is the representative did not give me a reference number or anything in regards to our conversation only her name and that she has made notes on my account. Lets hope it all works out ok and if so I am very glad they listened and have allowed me to opt out at no cost. I will be going to Telstra. As they say you pay for what you get and sometimes the more expensive option is definitely worth it.
1 Feb 2011 04:57:59 PM: Good to see yet another victim heading out of the shithouse and up to the penthouse
16 Feb 2011 08:54:18 PM: i headed out of the shithouse pittance of optus and vodafone. Went straight to telstra. Optus and Vodafone are both pathetic, Living in Crestmead, QLD this is a 25-30 year old suburb and is still growing at a massive rate. still no coverage lucky enough to get coverage to send and recv a text message. telstra relised that there was a massive population boom about 6 years ago when all the new housing estates came in and built a new tower about 800 mtrs away from my house. 100% coverage no matter where i am. With Telecommunications you really do get what you pay for.
people wonder why i love telstra so much so many people think they are a sneaky company, well optus and vodafone are sneakier. My optus bill was always a fucking yo-yo every month it was a different price well with telstra it is $79 a month nothing more!..

I had moved to a new house in Forest Lake, Qld and had practically no service at home, although phone worked perfected everywhere else. Reported the problem to Vodafone who did some investigating. I was informed along the way and then informed that I was in a low service area. I rang Vodafone explaining the process I had followed and asked to be released from my contract. I was released there and then, no questions asked. Got to keep my phone, they unlocked it for free and got to keep my number. Goes to show, being polite can get you somewhere!

TIO who worked with a Vodafail rep named 'Rebecca' to have payments I made credited to my web payments page and be let out of the contract. At the time I was doing this, the news broke about their security measures regarding customer accounts. They also deliberately mislead me by taking 2G out of usage figures on the day before the cutoff date, then putting it back the next day, so I went over limit and didn't know why. It was only when I visited a store to enquire about this that I inadvertently found out what they had done. I mentioned this also in further correspondence with the TIO. Vodafail is a nightmare of an organisaton to deal with. Just give the TIO details and facts and get a resolution. They HAVE to resolve the problem.

He did try to persuade me to not cancel contract by waiving the month bill but in the end, he said, we know that our reception are having problems and it is true there are problems with the network, however i believe that once vodafone improves, customers will come back. He let me off the contract for both 2 phones on $29 cap, which was my first month xD

I have been complaining to Vodafone about the lack of reception on both mobile phones and our Internet for about 5 months. The said they would do a some time of investigation and get back to us.

They never did so I rang the Telecommunication Ombudsman to complain. It took 20 minutes to lodge the complaint and Vodafone had 10 working days to get back to me or the complaint would be taken further and it would start costing Vodafone. Well 9 days later I recieved 2 text messages saying we could opt out of our contract. No phone call or anything. Couldn't have asked for a better result.

DON'T PUT UP WITH CRAPPY SERVICE. SPEND THE 20 MINUTES AND CALL THE OBUDSMAN!
23 Jan 2011 03:30:15 PM: Even easier, lodge online in less than 3 mins, I did got out of 2 contracts, changed to t yesterday, calls clear as a bell, pages load fast, I mean FAST, a must for anyone in business, or who expects to get what they have been paying for for so long, but not getting! Certainly not promoting t, o is probably not far behind. SO MUCH BETTER THAN VODAFAIL!!!
23 Jan 2011 04:33:26 PM: did you get to keep your handset??
23 Jan 2011 08:17:56 PM: Yes both of them, but also got iphone 4 from t
23 Jan 2011 08:22:17 PM: And porting was easy, took less than 1 hour
24 Jan 2011 09:32:21 AM: Great to hear that you had a gain too :) It felt like such a relief after fighting with them for so long. We have also signed up with T. They may be dearer and have crappy customer service but at least their reception and internet is reliable.

@06:33:26 We also go to keep both our phones :)
24 Jan 2011 11:59:09 AM: I think its funny when people complain about reception then go get an IPhone 4 which has a known issue with reception regardless what network your on LOL.

Good to hear of the gains though but seriously people IPhone is not the be all and end all. Do some research before buying mobile's think you;ll find other phones stack up better than the IPhone4.
24 Jan 2011 01:19:30 PM: Exact same scenario. Complaints to vodafone, even had calls drop out whilst on the line to them. Couldn't be bothered with their internal audit and the person on the other end of the line told me the reception in my area was listed as 'fine'. The call dropped out one minute after. Called the ombudsman. Received the dissolvant texts three days later. Definitely the way to go.
30 Jan 2011 09:43:49 AM: 24 jan2011 01:59:09PM, use my fone alot, iphone 4 works fine, still very happy since changing to telstra. In case you are defending the indefinsible, in my case vodacrap was irrefutabley the problem, sounds like you are towing the vodafone line "blame the sim, blame thefone, blame the customer, anything but the real cause VODACRAP"

I WAS IN NO MESS AND WAKE YOU PEOPLE VODAFONES PROBLEMS ARE NOT THEIRS ALONE AS ALL THIS CRAPPED ONLY STARTED AFTER THEY MERGED WITH THE # NETWORK THAT NETWORK COMPANY IS TO BLAME AS WELL SO WAKE UP AND GO AFTER THEM AND THANK GOODNESS I AM ONE OF THE FEW CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE WITH VODAFONE EVER
21 Jan 2011 09:24:34 AM: 3 and voda still operate separate networks and most of the issues are coverage related. 3 isnt to blame for it. If anything voda's outsourced partner who builds/monitors/maintains the network should be taking a lot of the blame.
21 Jan 2011 10:46:36 AM: I agree with this comment. I've had the same issues with Vodafone for the 5 years I've been with them. I've just been putting off doing something about it. My wireless modem is with 3 and it does & doesn't do everything they dold me it would or wouldn't.
22 Jan 2011 07:55:57 PM: OP you are uninformed. 3 and voda use seperate netwoks and towers. If you dont relate to our problems then you obviosly dont know how to call anyone or answer the fone, cos if you used your fone you would know what we mean
26 Jan 2011 06:58:16 PM: Bit shouty too.

Call from the response team. Offered credits against all my acocunts until march. If they still have problems after this date they will organise releasing me from Conract.

Gotta agree with the comments below , Dont abuse the people on the phone , Its not thier fault this is happening.

22 Jan 2011 04:14:28 PM: not good enough, I reckon, demand to be released from contract now. You can always wait and see. Keep your options open. Basically they have placated you, yet they still have you locked into a bullsh#t contract
26 Jan 2011 07:11:57 PM: Sounds like a fair solution to me mate. You've got a timeline but just check that they have notes on the account which explain the deal that was struck.

ok so i work for vodafone and my mobile is with vodafone so i feel your frustration, but i just want to put out the point that IT IS NOT STAFF'S FAULT, this is our job my store prides on customer service and thats why our customer enjoy coming back to us, but we are getting customer personal abusing us calling us very horrible names. so please just remember we are human. we are facing the same issue you are with our phone, so be poliet its not hard
18 Jan 2011 07:57:33 PM: i am sorry that some people are treating you that way.it is very disrespectful and unnessesary.
though i can understand the frustration of vodafone customers.
extremely long hold times, csr that it seems is reading from a script, can't help you with the question, transfered to another scrpt reader who can't help you.
promises to ring back with an hour, no calls for 2 days then rings at 7pm from another country when trying to feed, bathe, settle children and self and then be told "o it is not a good time for you i will ring back tomorrow".
no calls for 3 days and rung again at 7:30 pm try to resolve it with cranky hugry kids at feet because it is the only time they have called and can't put it off any longer.
no resolve with the issue at all ask to speak to an australian representative of the company and told there is no australian csr's you will have to go to a store( closest store is 3hrs away).
finally lodge a complaint with tio and see how it turns out. through out my many call i have apologised for my angry tone and repetative questions and requests but it is frustrating.
in my case i rang customer service and was hoping to receive customer service but was greatly let down. hopefully you will tell your seniors of the total lacking in cs and that people treat you better.
18 Jan 2011 09:24:02 PM: Of course it's not the staff's fault, it's Vodafone's fault. But who runs Vodafone? Humans. So who must resolve the problems? Humans. It is very difficult to blame the company for the network problems because it is a very large entity that incorporates all human resource assets. Hence, because Vodafone staff are an asset of the company, we growl at you, which should be translated as us growling at the company. Anyway, Vodafone staff, please don't post here as this site is full of angry complaints and it'll make them angrier. If someone abuses you in store, it's against the law, so you should just follow procedures and remove that abusive person from the store. This site is not for seeking sympathy, unfortunately, as that will defy the purpose of this site, should we have posts of staff complaining to us here. Sorry, your words are best spent elsewhere.
19 Jan 2011 12:48:55 PM: excuse me i was not asking for sympathy, i was just informing you that to just thik about how you talk to use and remember sll the staff members are all with vodafone as well so we are facing the angry use are as well and the issues. we will help you any way we can. and trust me everything that is told to us, is passed to a higher staff member
21 Jan 2011 09:31:37 AM: agree with the OP. having worked for vha i can say that the clowns at head office should be on the butt-end of the abuse, and not the sales staff.
24 Jan 2011 08:24:45 AM: I work in a store that offers multiple networks, and agree with OP... Be nice, you get more with honey than with vinegar! When people come in raging about their handset or their network, no one wants to go out of their way to help, they just want you to stop being angry at them. It's sad that in this day and age, the people that don't use their social skills seem to get what they want - Nice people really should be the ones getting helped first! BTW, I'm with VF, and I'm also disappointed in their network atm, but I'm working toward a resolution.

Have not yet got out of my mess but........I was in Coles a couple of days ago, they (Coles) have a shelf with several modems on display, one was at half price (Vodafail).

Some fellow was eyeing it up and I could see he was going to purchase it............I mentioned to him about the crap Vodafail coverage and near non-existent customer service and he put it down and purchased a Telstra.

Ahhhhhhh...........I am a man fulfilled, one less sucker for Vodafail and one hell of a lot less $$ for this disgraceful company.

I, like most of the irrate customers felt very let down by Vodafone.
I called countless times to 1555, spent HOURS on hold and spoke to many a non-English speaking customer rep who time after time put me on hold and wouldn't help me.
I read these gains/pains and took action into my own hands. I took the advice of a lovely person who told me to email the CEO (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) and what do you know, recieved a phone call the very next day from a awesome Aussie rep who told me that I was able to be released from my contract (with 6 months left) free of charge and able to keep my handset.

If Vodafone had reps like these working for them, they wouldn't be in the mess they are currently in. Not only was he helpful, but he listened to my frustration of the current offshore call centre staff and asked how I'd be affected in the QLD flood crisis. Fantastic customer service from him.

So, I encourage everyone if you have a problem contact the CEO. You'll get called and hopefully get out of my contract like I am.

Have now contacted Optus and am on my way to becoming an ex-Vodafone customer.

Thank you to this forum for helping me.
13 Jan 2011 01:05:09 PM: Have emailed him.. shall see if it makes a difference!
13 Jan 2011 02:22:45 PM: Emailed him also! crossing fingers! Cheers
13 Jan 2011 03:29:43 PM: They called me about 15 minutes ago.
Guy who's talking to me is fkn useless.. and is taking me through handset settings I've changed myself MULTIPLE times already.. BUT.. I can't complain about the turnaround time.. a few hours to have some action..

I recommend emailing the CEO.. he gets things happening :D

after constant dropouts and no network coverage, diverted calls to messagebank, then the cost to retrieve them, on top of speaking to an indian call centre about 20 times. We decided to break the plan and go to telstra. filed a complaint with the ombudsman and received a call from an australian!!! she was very helpful and acknowledged we have left them and waived any early get out fees and cancelled our last bill of $180.00. total saving over $500.00 due to having 2 phones on plan with them. I recommend using the ombudsman and standing firm that it is their bad service costing you money.

The only way out of this shit is to switch to Optus.
9 Jan 2011 06:29:11 PM: Yep spent two days and excessive number of calls, transfers, call cut outs, hang ups and what not, trying to accept their 24mnth discounted offer to stick around.

I finally gave up trying to accept their offer and called Optus. All was done and dusted within 20minutes - new plan and new phone on its way.

i jumped through all of vodafone's hoops by calling 1555 about five times and resetting my phone settings, upgrading the software, getting a new sim and even having the phone replaced under warranty. i was rather sure the problem was theirs, and true to form none of their 'fixes' worked and 1555 was out of ideas.

so i emailed (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED) with a brief overview of my problems and what i wanted to achieve. i got a call from them first thing the next day and we reached a mutually agreeable outcome.

if you have followed their process in good faith and still gotten nowhere then i completely recommend emailing this guy, he is in charge and needs to take responsibility for his inaction. it is a lot faster than the TIO and i suspect the outcome is more favourable.
9 Jan 2011 02:29:32 PM: So what outcome did you reach?

Vodafone business customer service is FAR better than consumer (although they don't advertise this number often)

Business customers call 135 888 and they can cancel the account. Hell, I would try even if I wasn't a business customer.

Vodafone actually CALLED ME!!!!!! Sure, it was an offshore call centre person ... but my complaint was handled by a real person .... finally.
Of course - this single 9 minute phone call from Vodafail comes after probably 3 months ....inumerable minutes (hours?) on hold listening to Lara and a litany of emails that forever go unresolved .... but ... I got to speak to a REAL PERSON ...
The down side is that the real person had to call me on my work (Telstra) mobile ... because of the continued Vodafail dodgy coverage.
The campaign continues ...

11083 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Half good at 7 Jan 2011 12:53:18 PM
I had tried three nights waiting over an hour on the phone. First two nights the phone kept dropping and my iphone was lucky not to be in 1000 pieces on the road after that. Third night got through and advised that had no signal at home even though the local Vodafone shop (2km's away advised that there should be no problem). Managed to get out at half price on what I had left on my plan. I dont think I should pay it though as they arent holding up their part of the contract. As I live in a regional town I am not concerned about the 3G part of the contract as I suppose that is a sacrifice of living in a regional area, but a basic phone service is expected. I dislike Telstra with a passion, now vodafone, which has now left me with Optus - so far so good.

Hi Vittorio,

I would just like to share a website regarding Vodafone Australia with you that you may not have seen recently and I think it is very important you have a look at it.

www.vodafail.com

Kindest Regards,
Nick Peters
7 Jan 2011 07:09:03 AM: Nick....you'd think the Vodafone CEO would be able to spell....??
7 Jan 2011 07:34:52 AM: Yes, thats right. He's probably emailing all sorts of people worldwide, this is if it was actually him. Mindu execs, CEO's etc generally do sign off emails as their initials. Funny he was aware of the vodafail australia site, I love it, but I don't love unrealiable internet :(
7 Jan 2011 09:19:43 AM: Ohmygod, that is so funny. A email reply from the VF CEO and he/she cannot spell?
If the CEO cannot spell, what is the educashunal stanndadd of the resst of Voddyphoney like ? eeeeeek.
7 Jan 2011 09:30:27 AM: To be fair, it seems more like typos than spelling mistakes. He probably replied on his phone in a rush and couldn't click the right letters. At the last commenter, educashunal..bhahaha..good one! One would HOPE the global CEO would be aware if they get national bad PR in one country. We are only a small country, but we can do big things.
7 Jan 2011 10:36:58 AM: I wonder if he uses a 3g connection with huawei modem?? lol
7 Jan 2011 03:13:07 PM: Maybe he knew his response would be posted up on this website, and wanted to throw in a typo or two to fit in.

6 Jan 2011 05:20:29 PM: First of all, I'm fairly sure people DID complain when Optus had its issues, it even received some media attention in 2008. Secondly, it might be OK for you as a long time Voda customer who have been happy to say you'll be patient and wait it out. That's your choice, but what about new customers of Voda who came into crappy service who really need reliable phones and are facing the prospect of a 2 year contract? What patience do they owe Vodafone? Each to their own!

6 Jan 2011 03:10:06 PM: Naive! thats the word for you buddy! Hope you dont experience such a thing in any part of your life! Sad to inform you, life is full of problems and this is a great platform for consumers not to be bullied by large firms!
6 Jan 2011 03:30:57 PM: the person from QLD who thinks their gain is awesome. count yourself lucky that you are not having any problems with vodafone. in time you'll most probably will have problems with vodafone. when that happens all i can say is HA! HA! HA!
8 Jan 2011 12:52:44 PM: That's really good that you haven't had any problems and have not gone through what all of us here have, and I hope you never do. This is about people power and how if people get together and say this is not good enough then something can be done to fix it. All we want is a service that work, to get what we pay for, no more no less, and if they cannot deliver that then to find an alternative solution. With big companies it is so hard to find a resolution if you are just one person, by joining together we are loud enough that they have no choice to listen

I have pleaded and asked for the past year why, while out in the street, not even in the house, the coverage is dropping out. If thay can't provide it why not release me from the two year contract if they cannot forfill their side of the contract? They answer is that it has been looked into and it has been fixed. It is still the same. Vodafone should release me or fix it.

4 Jan 2011 03:32:54 PM: im really happy that u got a working service, but please remember it very very hard to be patient with a company that earns millions on millions and ur a hard working aussie and $300 per month is going to products and services u are not getting, at all. and to make it worse they waste wat time u do have on hold and wont let u find better, so please dont ask people to throw money away and be patient while it happens

I can't believe Adam has even bothered to create this section. How ridiculous!! There is no GAIN, there is time lost constantly trying to get onto Vodafail to talk to their "Customer Support"
Vodafone is the worse Telco in Australia.

Join the Class action, lets take them down!!
4 Jan 2011 07:01:31 PM: The gain is when you either get to leave vodafone or they give you something else you are happy with. I am also hoping that people post the way in which they achieved their gain so that others will know what steps to take. Thanks Adam
4 Jan 2011 08:12:30 PM: It's also only fair to tell the complete story. A result is a result. Getting out does not mean the network fixed the problems. It did however in the end after getting the TIO involved, free this person, myself and others. Sharing is caring.
The person dealing with my exit was courteous and professional. Listened to what I thought of the situation and I wished them the best sorting the mess out. I also told them to pay up all the income tax unpaid in the UK. The students will stop trashing the stores.

Let this saga stands as a warning to other big corps. We can cause you distress. When you cause us distress and lie.

after not being able to view any data allowance usage for 3 weeks, and with absolutely no help from 1555, I decided to email them via the Vodafone.com.au website

I was ropable, I didn't know how many GB's I had used and was terrified of going over my allowance and didn't want to incur huge fees for excess usage. the email team said they would not be able to reimburse any excess data usage but gave me $50 credit for my trouble... just in case (for this bill and the next)

I don't think I will ever call 1555 again, I mean, they know what the words are that come out of your mouth... but they don't 'know' what you are trying to say.... make sense?

I'm sticking to emailing them, it may take time but a lot less headaches from 1555.

I'm not through with them yet either

data speeds still slow
calls dropped
failed txts
still unable to see data usage

9849 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is Not over yet! at 1 Jan 2011 09:50:07 PM
They tried to take without proof $650.00 from my sons Commonwealth visa card. We showed the bank screen dumps of the vodafone internet interface, that we didn't even use the amount of data, in fact we were well under the 5 meg limit for mobile broadband. That was when we could get it to work properly of course. The bank reversed their debt. What an Almighty sword the bank has given us.

Vodafone was not happy and began a campaign of harassing the disabled and vision impaired with a credit recovery firm NRG. They continue to state their intention to ruin our credit rating and threaten legal action.

Robbers and thieves that's what vodafone are. Stealers from the poor and the disabled.

Vodafone is it illegal not to supply an itemized GST tsx invoice when it is requested of you by the Bank and ourselves.(Debt over $75.)

Who is in breach of contract, law breaker?

As you sow, so shall you reap.

Were with Virgin now, pages load so much quicker, and they guarantee not to steal from the poor and disabled.

Bring it on were ready leviathan!!!!!!!!

2 Jan 2011 05:44:23 AM: wow a 5meg plan no wonder you went over, enuf for 1 song
3 Jan 2011 10:57:37 AM: she probably means on her phone.
6 Jan 2011 11:29:07 PM: so are you suggesting that if I am not "poor and disabled" then its OK for vodafone to rip me off???????????????????
26 Jan 2011 07:55:16 PM: Something not quite right with the approach and this email...she'd be getting a bill surely. 5Mb plan = huh?

9773 Someone from QLD thinks their gain is No more Vodafone Contract - I'm gone! at 1 Jan 2011 01:59:36 PM
Had been enduring the pathetic Vodafone network for months. After having my case investigated and network failure in my area confirmed, I negotiated the canceling of my contract. They tried to offer me 3 months free mobile service or to unlock my phone so I could use another service provider.

Yep. That's how bad their network is! They're desperate enough to offer you the competition as a solution. :O

I got the Vodafone call centre operator to admit that the problem wasn't going to be sorted out anytime soon. It's going to take MONTHS for network improvements to roll out. I need reliable phone and broadband service so I got them to agree to knocking off $20 off my final bill and termination of my contract.

Had to send my Android phone back, but I just got the latest Galaxy S on my new contract with my new Telco. So nice to have 4-5 bars reception and internet service again. *BLISS*
2 Jan 2011 05:50:47 AM: So they couldn't offer you coverage and you think it's silly that they recommended someone else....? I'm confused, whats the alternative? What else could they do?
3 Jan 2011 11:00:07 AM: they could of not offered anything and let him go. im so sick of reading comments from people who love vodafone, this isnt a fan page
4 Jan 2011 01:28:22 PM: This page is called "share your gain" so why not say a few positive things about Voda on this page if in fact you've experienced these
26 Jan 2011 07:56:36 PM: I'm with you there 4 Jan!

My thanks & congratulation to Adam Brimo for setting up this excellent webpage, it's brilliant! The stats page is excellent - Methinks the folks at VF will be in major damage control mode, I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the VF CEO's office.....
Thanks again, MB in Cairns
1 Jan 2011 06:15:28 PM: Thanks I'm glad you like it :) I've spent many nights working on this site and adding new features so feel free to send me any feedback you might have. All the best. Adam
2 Jan 2011 08:52:51 PM: Thanx Adam, while my problems with vodafone are slightly different to most I have read (most painful 5338) I really appreciate the opportunity to read other peoples experiences and I hope that this site may have given me the opportunity to get my message across to hierachy at vodafone.
I.F.
3 Jan 2011 07:20:26 AM: Fly on the wall... Its taken them this long to acknowledge the elephant in the room!
3 Jan 2011 08:16:21 PM: I don't think it's that big of a deal to them, Vodafone would have in excesss of what 8 million customers, and just over 9000 hits on here, do the sums !!! Bit like a needle in a haystack really.

Goodluck anyways!!!
10 Jan 2011 07:41:22 PM: Don't discount the needle in the haystack!!In my many years of sales experience & training, it has been proven that individuals will tell maybe at most 1 or 2 people about great service they have received. On the other hand if you have received poor service you're more than likely to tell 5 - 10 others. So 9000 x 5 + the many who haven't heard of this site (I was unaware until today)+ my 1000+ friends on facebook + their friends.....give yourself some more cred - this is a significant needle!!
11 Jan 2011 07:51:11 PM: great info - great site
really it does come down to reasonable expectations and communicating them
hissy fits won't do you any good
availing yourself of the facts, planning and calmly discussing the problem and your expectations will get you a lot further but you are 100% correct in advising that it is worth getting the name of each person you speak to.
all the best
can't wait for the world where we share these resources in a much more equitable, resourceful and conservative manner rather than pillaging, over cunsuming and rorting to our hearts discontent.
13 Jan 2011 01:31:08 PM: hi umm your all sad, can you please tell someone who cares or get some more money so you can pay termination fees, oh and also your all losers. ahahaha yessssssssssssssss yes you are
23 Jan 2011 03:37:33 PM: Not sad at all, got out of 2 contracts, now with a great network, actually someone did care, voda sent me $6000 and 7 iphones, no termination fees to pay.
Have a look in the mirror Portnoy
10 Jun 2011 11:07:25 AM: bahhahaha i wish vodafail had like buttons! cos i'd likie 23 Jan's response to 13 Jan! ohh SNAP! lol

Got rid of dodgey Iphone, replaced it with a nokia!
Never had Issues with voda per Iphone, perhaps you people with issues should step back and look at your own setups before trying to make vodafone look like idiots!
Voda private customer for the past 8 years, 3 Mobile Buisness for the past 2 years, 3 drops out constantly, voda always gets me out of trouble.
BTW, I travel roughly 280km's per day on average around Brisbane
Thanks
Me
31 Dec 2010 09:30:48 AM: OK - so everyone's problems here are due to iPhones are they. Will that fix their customer service and all the other problems? Why did the CEO make a number of apologies then. You sound like a vodafail employee. And by the way, we don't need to make Vodafail look like idiots - they are doing a good enough job of it themselves!!!
31 Dec 2010 09:35:34 AM: Try living in country Victoria with a Vodafone mobile. No chance of being able to make or receive calls. They definitely do not have the coverage they claim.
31 Dec 2010 01:25:00 PM: Thanks for the advice. I indeed looked at the setup on my own phone and realised that you're the idiot.
