Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

4810 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Useless at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:33 PM
I tried to cancel my contract (at contract end) due to bad reception in the area. As I am French speaking the computer does not understand my commands and you cannot get through to an operator who could assist. Vodafone shops cannot assist as they only sell contracts, not cancel contracts. How ridiculous is this situation ???
4809 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodaarrogant at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:31 PM
Vodafail management ignored all my calls for help. They said that my call dropout problem, poor reception and my delayed SMS's (some up to 4 hours late) were just my imagination and I should stop winging. Because of them my pet puppy "Frisky" died yesterday when she was injured and it took me 2 hours to call our vet. That's heartless and vodaarrogant!
4807 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Rubbish! at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:24 PM
We are another with Crazy John's, coverage is with vodafone. Got sent a text message, which I didn't get until we were driving away from the shopping centre which was about 10 mins after the text had been sent. Then coverage drops out about 10kms out of a major surburban area, which in turn makes my phone turn on & off. Seriously doubt will be resigning with them. Why can't the government do more, isn't this really a breach of contract on their part?
4806 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is F@#KING HOPELESS at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:07 PM
every time i try to ring the knuckleheads they always take at least a bloody hour to answer the god damn phone, then when they finally do you can barely understand them and after about a few minutes the piece of shit reception cuts out anyway and you have to start again. And at the end of all this they dont bloody help you anyway, they always seem to have some bullshit excuse not to help ya! SO VODAFONE CAN KISS MY BUTT! To make matters worse they suckered me in to some shock proof phone that i dropped on the carpet and it cracked the screen. shock proof my ass, when they were signing me up they said it was all under warranty and now they wont even look at it, cheers vodafone
4805 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is network problems at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:07 PM
I want to end my contract with Vodafone as they are not providing the services that I signed up for. "No service" practically everyday which means no call in or out. Its frustrating that I have to make call from public phone or borrow phone when I have an iphone with Vodafone. Complaints made to Vodafone but so far nothing has worked!
4804 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is really disgusting at 27 Dec 2010 07:18:06 PM
My wife and I both have vodafone with Blackberry plans and our reception constantly keeps dropping out. We have made several complaints via telephone and several vodafone shops and we keep getting told that things will improve and that the interuption is due to them upgrading their system. However they could never explain why one of us will have reception and at the same time, the other one will have no reception, and all of this has been going on for the last three to four months while vodafone keeps assuring us that this disruption will only be for a week or so. Sounds like a company who knows their stuff huh?

Not told when signing up to an iPhone contract for 24 months that Vodafone doesn't receive a 3g signal in the suburb I live in (ACT 2905) and will require the assistance of a wireless booster. Vodafone's solution switch to 2g coverage while I'm at home which is painfully slow. Phone constantly drops out on phone calls, wont receive voicemail messages for a couple of days after they were left. I was on hold to my bank for 30 minutes and half way through a loan application I completely loss reception and dropped out. I have complained to Vodafone but their trouble shooting steps are unreasonable as they require another iPhone to compare with.

I had an I phone with Vodafone for a year in melbourne, I actually had no network issues, and the phone worked okay in Ballarat.
However, the customer service was a nightmare! I left vodafone to upgrade to the 3GS earlier this year and switched to OPTUS. I asked for a final account and waited. And waited. And got one after three months showing that vodafone owed me about $40. So I sent an e-mail to the big V that took a week to be answered, saying that the e-mail team can't do a refund! So I tried the phone team, spent a while on hold and finally got through. After a 15 minute argument I was told that it would take 6 weeks to send me a cheque for the money, no interest would be applied and if I didn't like it someone would contact me. I asked the guy to get anyone to call me back to explain the 6 week delay for a cheque, noone ever has. Small fry I know but bloody annoying!

I too share the same troubles as everyone else out there. My phone has very bad reception, cuts out and the times I have rang Vodafone, I am on hold for at least an hour and by the time you do get through, you get hung up on before you even get to say a word. I ended up contacting the store where I purchased my phone and vented my frustrations on the manager. I have regreted the day I signed up with them and so want out!!!

4790 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is stuffed at 27 Dec 2010 07:15:42 PM
I purchased an LG KM900 vodafail branded phone a couple years ago on their $49 plan and in the suburb I live in, (Marrickville), I could not get any reception.
I had to ring their customer care number on my parents landline and all I was told (by their OS staff in India) was to reset the phone and voila you will now have signal.
I replied no its still the same and the indian dude tells me to make my calls from ouside the house as reception in "buildings" is not guaranteed. I said maybe you would care to come here and step outside to sort this abomination out.
In frustration I called their customer care number again the next day and got a local. I advised them of the problem and that I wished to rescind the contract due to no reception.
Surprising they were ok with this and I simply had to payout the handset if I wished to retain it but the contract was cancelled as it should be.
I then switched to 3 as a mate of mine lent me his sim card to test and reception in my area was perfect with this carrier. So far I have been with 3 but since the merger with vodafail so far reception has been fine, should it change in the future then Optus will be my next choice.
Good luck with the website and class action, its much needed.

4787 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is disappointing at 27 Dec 2010 07:15:26 PM
I have just changed over from 3 to Vodafone, with the promise that Vodafone has much better coverage for where I am in Western Australia. Unfortunately, especially over the Christmas period, my phone keeps cutting out. There have been cases of up to 15 times in which it has occured during one phone call. Being away from family means the use of my phone is very important and I don't like the fact that I can't have a proper conversation without the service cutting out!!!!
4784 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 27 Dec 2010 07:14:49 PM
Get very poor reception in my home. Contacted Vodafone, and they say it is OK when they drive past. Must be the building! It is a brick veneer house, and other networks work fine in it! I live in the middle suburbs of Melbourne, not in the country, where their coverage is non existant!
4781 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pretty Bad at 27 Dec 2010 07:14:37 PM
I have no reception on my vodafone phone when I'm at work in Yandina. I also have a work Telstra mobile and this works fine in Yandina. Vodafone need to sort their coverage issues out. What's the point in having a mobile for emergencies when it's unlikely to have coverage when you need it most!!!!
4780 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail = understatement at 27 Dec 2010 07:14:27 PM
-never any reception
-calls constantly drop out
-attempt to make calls = call failed/straight to message bank (lets hope im not ever in a compromising situation where i need to dial emergency because i'm sure id be long dead before actual connection)
-text messages delayed... sometimes by up to 12 hours
-internet coverage = inconsistent, rarely works
-when you're feeling frustrated and annoyed you try and vent some of this frustration with customer care, lara is never very helpful and neither are the impatient foreigners who i can never understand with those heavy accents. Call is often redirected 5 or 6 times before you actually express your frustration to the right person (by then your blood is boiling and youve told your story so many times youre considering recording yourself so you can just press play incase they decide to redirect your call AGAIN)
-telstra is looking very good right now
ps - hats off to whoever created this - playing the role of activist complainer can be so very empowering

I've committed to two years of wireless broadband that works occasionally for very brief periods. I've also committed to two years of mobile phone "coverage" what a joke.
4771 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very! at 27 Dec 2010 07:12:42 PM
Vodafone claims we have full 3G reception at our house in the Perth Metro area, but most of the house has very little (if any) service and calls regularly drop out. Voicemails that are left for us can take up to a week to come through to our phones and facebook can take up to 5mins to update, again if at all.

4763 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Internet/data service/reception at 27 Dec 2010 07:11:00 PM
We have been with vodafone since july 2010, and in this short time i have had nothing but slow data issues with wireless internet, dropping in and out all the time. Poor reception on mobile phone there have been times where i havent been able to reach my partner cause of poor reception issues. We pay alot of money for this service and everytime you call vodafone the lines are static, the customer service officers are rude and you can barley understand them. Plus i study online nd there was a day about 2 months ago the wireless internet was down all day long, we didnt sign up for this bad service. I want action now!!!!
4761 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 07:09:57 PM
Well after taking 3 attempts to even access this page through the voda 3G connection I have finally made it. Over Christmas no phone coverage at all in primary CBD. Excessively slow net and a Indian call centre operators who don't know their hand from their butt. I'm tired of it. I use to fly the flag for you Vodafone but now.... Well I'll keep it civil.... Disaster is all I can say

4760 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst...network...ever! at 27 Dec 2010 07:09:32 PM
We live in an area in NSW where, if you are on the Optus or Telstra network, you have excellent mobile phone coverage. However, if you are on the Vodafone network you get one bar at the best of times.
My phone can be on the lounge next to me, not ring because there is not enough coverage but I will then get a message saying I have a voicemail message. WTF?!!
If I want to be able to hear the person on the other end of the line and not have the phone call cut out I have to go outside.
Vodafone: you are the worst network ever! Another customer lost!
Don't try calling Vodafone to complain... unless you have a day to waste and you speak another language.

Not to mention people trying to ring when i have reception and they get the message that im not in a service area

Without fail when I am taking an important phone call, or any phone call for that matter, reception cuts in and out and I lose the call which is more frustrating when its from a private number and I cant call them back, I have rung vodafone and never talk to a competent english speaking person, and all they say is they need proof of me not getting reception in that area and they will get it upgraded. But it isnt just one area, is 75% of places that I go or visit, even my own house, i get limited or no reception. Fcuking useless bastards.

approx 3 months ago i was trying to get a samsung galaxy and after nearly 8 weeks of searching s.e Qld to find 1, i did eventually find 1 only catch was it was through vodafone. now i was already with 3 and they weren't to bad so i figured that if 3 and vodafone had merged that i would be ok,that was my first mistake..next after being told at the shop that i wasn't going to be stung an early termination fee from 3 i get a bill for $1965 to pay out my 3 acc... mistake 2.. i tore the shit outta 3 and had the bill reduced to just over $300. then day one the reception issue started, i have contacted vodafone numerous times with little satisfaction the best they could offer was 3 months free, ( which is useless when im at home)(my reception problem) and i was told in could take upto 5-6 months to fix. now i understand that we live in australia one of the worst places on the planet for internet speed but it's 2010, not 1989 this country has the highest mobile use per capita of anywhere in the world,.. please tell me (WTF) is goin on. all i want is to be able to pick up my fone and use it, thats wat i pay my money for...if you read this and your with vodafone,im sorry.

i just switch to vodafone a month ago because taught they offer greater value that the previous one I got. but apparently, my husband and friends have difficulty calling me because i got no reception, i thought it was because of the new phone, but reading these articles proves that i'm not alone who suffer the failure of vodafone, hope they can do something about it... especially if there is an emergency important call that you've been waiting!

I don't get strong network signal in my house even I live just in Ryde which is within city limits. Likewise, my wife, who is also on Vodafone just received her brother's Christmas message today(2 days after). Also there are numerous occurrence of dropped calls and/ or can't hear each other.
4742 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Oh no Vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 07:05:38 PM
I have just transferred my mobile plan over to Telstra and am waiting for my internet contract to expire so I can do the same there. I could not take phone calls unless I was out the front door of my home with Vodafone and with the internet have to sit in the front lounge room to get reception. I am not in a rural area either! Also had to have my initial USB modem replaced due to a fault and for some reason I am being billed for both faulty modem (which is no longer in my possession) and new replacement modem each month. This means my account keeps being disconnected once a month due to 'unpaid bills' for a product I don't even have!! Very frustrating.

Went down south WA for a holiday (eagle bay to be exact). No reception. Power went out in the house we were staying in, needed to find out how long it would be out for...no reception. My hubby owns his own business and some clients could not get through to make bookings for when we were back from our holiday. Thankfully our visitors from far north QLD who were staying with us at the time were with Telstra (which had great reception down there) and we were able to use their mobiles.....also text messages are delayed in coming through or not being recieved at all, told by vodafone to "try a new sim card"...told credit was expired, but amount was still being read out in available credit, couldnt use it...then recharged and it was added onto the amount that i couldnt use. *sigh*
4740 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception and service at 27 Dec 2010 07:05:19 PM
I have been with Vodafone for approx. 5 years. before that I switched from Telstra to Optus but they were both horrible ... the Vodafone store people were really friendly and said that the service would improve as major work was being done in my area, over the past 5 years reception hasn't improved in my area ... in fact i think it has gotten worse! It used to take me 5-10 min on hold ... the other day after buying a new phone after my iphone was stolen when someone broke into my house (and my car) I reported it stolen. They were quick to lock down my phone but when it came to reactivating my new sim and new phone I was on hold for nearly 2 hours and even then I had to call again due to a call drop out on their end... and again to unblock incoming calls.
till an hour ago I thought it was only me. On top of that I purchased a new phone to replace the "new" iphone.
I never thought I'd say this but I think im going to switch to Telstra ... they seem to be stepping up in the deals ... f**k i got approx. 20 months left till i can switch!

I am in bayswater and have been struggling with phone reception and mobile broadband reception for 18 months. I cannot make calls inside the house and have to walk outside so they don't drop out. Vodafone customer service blame it on the type of roof I have. What a cop out! One weekend my husband and I had absolutely no reception and missed an important call regarding the construction of our house. Vodafone just said there were no outages in my area and offered no explanation. I am out of contract and will be moving this week.

I have a mobile internet device. I am supposed to have 5-8GB of Data. Network is like really slow and keeps on dropping out. I am also very busy so one day I called them in lunchtime to help me. The guy at the other end didn't know what he was doing. The software on my computer for Vodafone said I had only 200-500MB!!! NO I have signed up for 8GB. He didn't know how to help me fix this, even though he was supposed to be a technician. Now I keep paying every month for a service I am not getting. Yes I tested the internet on my iPhone and it is faster. This is nuts.

4735 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor service and coverage at 27 Dec 2010 07:03:54 PM
I have recently signed up to Vodafone (regretfully). I was informed that they have great coverage by a reprsentative of the provider. My phone is used for a combination of work and personal circumstances. I called Vodafone shortly after signing up as I was having continuing issues with the phone dropping out and needing to make multiple calls to have 1 conversation. I called them on 9.11.10 to voice my concerns and was placed on a customer service line for 1 hour before I decided to hang up and send them an email. I then had to endure a pop up reminding me of their remarkable coverage prior to finally sending the email reminding them that I had concerns that the statements made regarding their 92% coverage in their pop up did not seem correct to me. I received an email apparently identfying the status of this issue as "solved" and providing me with a number to call. I persevered with the issue and called again (hold it - that is 4 call attemts in one sitting - 1 dropping out whilst on the line to them) to the customer service line to again voice my concerns. I have been told to try someone elses phone or change sims to make sure it is not a phone problem as apparently my issue is not a service orientated one. They made no attempts to assist me in addressing this. I informed them I have been with 3 other providers and have never had this issue. Whilst they were informing me it was not likely to be a service issue as it did not happen consistently, I informed them that this happened regularly (as I travel a lot) and there are definite spots where it drops out suggesting it may be a coverage issue. I also informed them that I use my phone for work and require it as a security measure as I am often in my client's home assessing them for medicolegal cases and as such need a reliable phone in the instance that I may encounter aggression and need to call for assistance. I advised of my concerns that I can not rely on my phone for this. It is embarrassing when I am speaking with key stakeholders and clients that my phone drops out. The service I have been provided with is less than satisfactory. I advised them during my last conversation to not even bother sending me the bill and they may wish to check how many calls I make during 1 transaction. I have received my bill and assume that they have not checked my bill. They also told me ther were no service issues with my area - I advised them I bought the phone in the local area and was advised of the exemplary coverage. I advised them that this considered that should the issue be demonstrated to be coverage I would not be happy. I cant beleive I am locked in for 2 years - I am worried about what it will do with my business and what should happen if I need to alert someone of a safety issue for me or a client. The service is a joke. If it were a shop, I wouldn't have gone back after the first time. Their statements of service do not equate to what they can provide. Thank you for this page, goodness knows it was needed

Obviously all of us must live in those parts of Australia where there is no coverage by Vodafu*k. At www.vodafone.com.au/help, they boast Vodaf*ck covers 94.52% of Australia. Wonder if that gutless organisation called the ACCC would investigate this obvious LIE. Of course they wont. I suppose we 5.48% of the population are supposed to grin and bear the fraudulent activities by Vodaf*ck. I may not be a lawyer, but paying for goods under false pretences and threats is blackmail and theft, to name a few of their crimes !!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me the oppurtunities to express my frustations regarding phone standard, customer service and other services of VF. I'm on $ 79 caps for one and half years. I started with BlackBerry Bold 9500 and the phone cap was just a crap. The worst so called touch/smart phone I have ever had! After using few weeks, I could understand I'm just wasting my money. Touch screen was unsensitive, internet browsing was sooo sloooow, media player and camera photo quality were just far below the standard. I bought it from Crazy Johns. The customer service of VF couldn't help me at all. After few months, I couldn't tried to change the phone, and customer service guy replied (after more than half an hour waiting time!) me it would cost me ...$ (the total price of a new phone!) Well, after few more months sufferings, I fortunately lost my phone. Lucky, I had my mobile insurance, I got a iphone 3 with the excess fees of 225 bucks! But call dropping, networks, internet browsing didn't improve that much. So I could realize, the problems are not in phones only, but networks and customer service also. Anyway, it's quite unnecessary to pay for mobile insurance. So I had to cancel the insurance. Recently, I paid all the money including excess fees, but the system said after a week, still it owes me money! I called customer service to know what's going on, otherwise they gonna charge me extra money for late fees! Literary, after 47 minutes of waiting period, I could talk to the customer service guy for few minutes. The worst customer service I have ever had. How much time do you have guys to talk to a customer service in Australia? Simply, I can't afford that time! Call drop out, poor networks, slow browsing and few more things are part and parcel of my phone caps. I'm just waiting to finish my cap period so that I can roll over. Thanks guys for your patience to read my pains.

I use a vodafone dongle to acess the internet. They have had several 'problems' with yahoo and general connectivity, network coverage etc. When I ring them to speak to them I can either be on hold for an hour and a half or being insulted by rude, and obnoxious persons who have little graps of the English language. They have, on several occassions extended my data allowance and expiration date to apease me. This has been fine - but the problems never gert fixed! When I rang up exaberated they refused to authroise a refund as I had already been using their service!
The staff have blatantly lied to me on the phone by saying that they do not give data allowances or any kind of recompense - then when I demand to speak to a supervisor they offer data allowance to try to make me happy!
half the time i question whether i even get through the right people!
I am fed up and would be quite happy if they never existed. They are really uselss, overpriced and offer little or no customer satisfaction.

I have been a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 yrs, despite the crappy service and reception, yet all my loyalty has been rewarded with was a rugby ball and a 3 month magazine subscription. The ONLY reason I haven't switched providers is I don't like being locked into a contract, and prepaid is not for me. (I am on the old plan entitled 'No Plans').
It's become common knowledge that 'if there's a cloud in the sky - I'll have no reception'. Not good enough, especially now I need a mobile for my business. I can see myself switching soon.

Well, I started the contract with Vodafone when I was still living in Sydney, in January of 2009. I had heard from a family member that the (at that time) new Blackberry Storm phone was the best of the best, so I decided to look into getting one. I went to an outlet at the Bankstown Centro shopping facility, and I got one of the Storm phones, and at the same time opened an account with Vodafone. At the time of my receiving the phone, I asked the individual who was working at the outlet if I would be able to receive signals in all States and Territories of Australia, and he said yes. I asked him if he was positive, and he replied with another enthusiastic "Yes". So, I got the phone, and went on my way. I experienced my first dropped call later that afternoon. One of the main reasons for changing mobile services in the first place was because of dropped calls and low signal reception in various places immediately outside of the Sydney area, from the previous mobile service provider.
I had had the phone for less than one month when I had my first serious problem with it. Because it was under a 30-day replacement warranty, I took it to the outlet where I got it, told the people there that the phone wasn't working, and they told me that they didn't have any more of the particular model in the store at that time. I wasn't in a position to do anything more about it at that time, because I was getting ready to go overseas that next day. I left for my overseas destination the next day, and returned about 30 days later. I immediately returned to the outlet where I had gotten the phone, and was told that they had more of that particular model in the store then, but that the 30-day replacement warranty had expired. So, I asked them what my options were. They said that I could give them the phone, and they would send it out to their repair facility. I did this, and about two weeks later they contacted me and said that the phone was ready to be picked up. I immediately went to the outlet, and they told me that the unit had been replaced with a new one. I had high hopes. Well, this second phone almost immediately dropped calls and had very poor signal reception in numerous parts of the Sydney area, as well as other places in Australia where I took it. Also, it was about three months until this second phone developed a problem that rendered it unusable. I took it to the outlet, where it was the same as before: they said leave it here, we'll send it out, and you should have it back in about two weeks. Well, about three weeks later, I got a phone call from the outlet telling me that the phone was back. Again, I immediately went to the outlet to get the phone. I picked it up, and hadn't even gotten out of the shopping center when the phone dropped its first call. I turned around and walked back to the shop, told them about the problem, and they asked me if the battery was fully charged. I told them it was. They told me that because of the large amount of metal within the shopping center, that the signal strength was usually not very good there, and to take the phone outside the mall and try it again. I did, and the signal strength was better outside the mall. Well, shortly after all this, I moved to Tasmania. I came to Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, and as soon as I arrived in Devonport I tried to use the phone, and I discovered almost no signal strength. I drove around Devonport trying to find a location where I had a better signal, but could find none. I then drove to Burnie, again with no better signal strength. I now refer back to the first part of this writing, where I had been told by the people who initially sold me this phone that it would work equally well in ANY State or Territory of Australia. Needless to say, it hardly worked at all in Tasmania. The only exception to this is that it appeared to work OK in Launceston, which is one of the larger towns in Tasmania.
I took the phone to China, Malaysia, and New Zealand with me on business trips, and it did operate satisfactorily in all three of these countries, as long as I was in large cities in those countries. It appeared that in rural areas, there was almost no signal strength, and this appeared to be the case in all three of the countries mentioned above.
The last thing I have to comment on is that every time I have tried to make a credit card payment on the phone account, the credit card is not accepted by the Vodafone credit card payment system.
I am absolutely NOT happy at all with either the service, the equipment, or the customer service from Vodafone. All in all, a very large disappointment.

vodafone mobile broadband. Back home in NZ, auckland to be exact, the coverage is awesome, and the speed is a genuine rival to that of broadband at home. But here, not so much. definitly not so much. Just logged in to My Voda on the website and can't even view my bill history...how is that anything to do with 'network issues?' Anyone had any luck getting out of their contract minus the exit fee? I would really love to switch networks asap. Not fair to pay full price and get far below average service.

My contract ran out 12 or so months ago & I was contacted by Vodafail to renew, enticed by the iPhone. I was told that a $69 cap should cover my needs & at first it did. Then suddenly after a couple of months with the same usage my bill sky rocketed unexplainably. I enquired & was given a spiel but my query was never really answered. In fact every time I rang I was put on hold for great lengths of time & then told the same spiel. Soon after my coverage was affected for no apparent reason & even though the bill was being addressed, the service was restricted to incoming calls & then cut off completely. Then I was charged $800 for the cancellation of the service. It took Vodafail 2-3weeks to send me an itemised bill justifying their actions after asking on several occasions for this. I was then contacted by a debt collection agency about the matter. After paying the debt collection agency and them confirming the payment, I contacted Vodafail 3 weeks later to ensure that they had in turn received the payment. First I was put on hold for over 45 mins without having spoken to an actual person & transferred to 4 different irrelevant departments. I hung up as I was at work & my charge was about to run out. Two hours later I tried again & was on hold for a further 25 mins. Eventually I spoke to a man of Indian origin who was extremely rude & who hung up on me without even beginning to answer my query. I then went to a Vodafail store to speak to someone face to face & to possibly get my old number back. I was told it would take too long & would be easier if I switched servers to Optus & in MY time I could possibly get the number back after 2 hours online. My payment was never confirmed & I was sent on my way. The coverage & customer service leaves alot to be desired.

Up until a few months ago, I had been a Vodafone customer for almost 10 years, with very few problems. I live in a rural town, and although there are some small vodafone drop out zones in my area, in town coverage has always been really good. Anyway a few months ago both mine and my partners phones suddenly lost coverage completely in town and the surrounds. We had been overseas for an extended period before this so gave it a little time in case this had something to do with it, but quickly realised that once we were in the nearest city we had coverage again. Long story short after one month, several unanswered emails and waiting on hold for hours only to be disconnected, all I got from Vodafone was a completely unhelpful email, and was informed that according to their systems coverage in my area was still fine!I moved straight to another telco and have since learned that the exact same coverage drop out was being reported by several other customers in my town at the same time, all of whom have switched to other providers. Vodafone just lost a whole town of customers, and they couldnt even be bothered to investigate. very dissapointing.

I am a health professional and constantly rely on my mobile as I am on call. This has now become a life threatening issue in my instance. I constantly receive texts and voice mail hours, sometimes days later asking "why is your phone phone off or unavailable?" when I have my phone within arms length at all times. My phone drops out or is scrambled EVERY time I make a call and regularly "fails". I went to a Vodafone store where I was told that it might possibly be my handset and I "should buy a new phone to test out the reception theory". NOT LIKELY, VODAFONE.Cannot believe the nerve! Have been a voda customer for years, and will definitely be changing carriers when this contract ends.

Voicemails can take a day to arrive.
3G speeds are appalling, at least compared to telstra.
Maybe rumours that voda/3 dumped all 3 users onto the voda network are true?

i have been with Vodafone for as long as i can remember and it has slowly been getting worse. At the moment i cant even make it through a single phone call without it dropping out it is sooo FRUSTRATING!!! i receive text messages hours after they have been sent to me and sometimes not at all. Good luck trying to get in contact with Vodafone to complain you will be on the phone for hours and nothing will be fixed for you. well my contract is up in January and i will be switching networks. GOOD-BYE VODAFONE!!!!!!
4685 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BIG FAIL! at 27 Dec 2010 06:53:15 PM
Similar to everyone else by the sounds of it ... lots of calls that don't connect and patchy coverage. Add to that the BS I was told when signing up ... mind you no worse than everyone else. Telco's are all scamming us rotten with their roaming and cross charging. Basically you're fine unless you travel, then you're screwed.

3G.....what 3G? Data performance is absolutely rubbish, constant switching from 2G to 3G, extremely slow speeds and very high pings make the Vodafone network a useless bunch of towers. As for voice calls, dropouts galore! Vodafone you are Vodafail!

Constant drop outs, went a week without being able to use my phone. Spent over 7 hours on hold with no help and got attitude in the store as if it was my fault. Pics coming through up to 2 days after they are sent and voivemails coming through 4 hours later. And no Vodafone it is not my sim,. I also live in Melbourne CBD with no reception.
4675 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Worst reception ever at 27 Dec 2010 06:50:22 PM
I'm an Aussie in the UK and must say that Vodafone are the worst for service and reception in the UK. I signed up for a mobile plan as they said they were the only ones that had reception in my area. how wrong could they be!!! They were the carrier that had the worst, I'm lucky to get one bar. They IMO are the worst telco all over the world!!!!!!!
4673 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is totally at 27 Dec 2010 06:49:52 PM
I ended up with a $900 bill when i refused to pay a bill due to Vodafone not holding up their end of the deal, I was promised good network but couldn't get coverage across the road from the shop, I ended up paying it as I own my own business and don't need collection agency hassles...
27 Dec 2010 06:57:00 PM: You're in Hobart? They used to be pretty good at the Eastlands store but now if you have any dramas the staff in the Hobart mall store don't want to know about it. My wife got a LG handset that needs warranty repairs and VF won't even send it away for repairs they told her she has to post it to LG herself.

4671 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 06:49:46 PM
Where do I begin also........Like the bad reception....the non existing internet.........the message that was repeated and was sent 50 times when only the one was to be sent AND got charged for it!!!..........The voicemails that take three days to get through due to the lack of reception to receive the call in the first place and not to mention the frustration if I or any of the Vodafone customers were to be in an emergency situation and cannot rely on the service to make a call. Not happy with a lot of things......Im glad someone made this site to Possibly rectify the issues. THEY NEED TO BE FIXED WITH NO EXCUSES AND FIXED NOW......OR LET US BREAK OUR CONTRACTS!!!!!!!
4669 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Dec 2010 06:48:59 PM
Live one suburb from the City (Melbourne) and do not get reception. Surely one suburb from the CBD isn't asking much for reception to work. Friends and family have to call multiple times for that slight chance that my phone will have reception at the time. I am unaware that friends family have been trying to call or have been unable to return calls and at times this has caused conflict.
How hard is it to provide service 5km from the CBD?

4666 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely Painful at 27 Dec 2010 06:47:53 PM
Im sick of all of the drop outs that eat into your monthly prepaid. I went from a plan to a prepaid option because of it in the first place. I'm also sick of the lack of coverage in some areas of metropolitan Sydney. The Vodafone coverage is absolutely ridiculous through out all Australian states. Its a system that belongs in the 90's not 2010/11.

4665 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrid at 27 Dec 2010 06:47:53 PM
I have one of those awesome smart phones which had the selling point of internet! Too bad it takes too long to connect a phone on another carrier seems to actually get better coverage in the same room

4662 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is no service and overdue phone messages and text at 27 Dec 2010 06:47:17 PM
Called Vodafone couple of times to complain about "no service" connection and as usual I would have wait for more than one hour or so to get to the technican who can "help". I was told that my iphone with vodafone has the network coverage in the area I complained about "no service" but each time I go to the same place there's just no way to make a call or text. Why do I have to pay $69.00 cap per month and having to make call from a public phone or borrow phone???? Till to date the same problem still exists.
4658 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 06:46:45 PM
Little to no coverage at Kellyville Ridge. Trying to complain is harder than trying to lick your own elbow. i.e. IMPOSSIBLE
4656 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Text Messages at 27 Dec 2010 06:46:27 PM
I am have two mobiles, one with Vodafone and one with Transact which runs off the Vodafone network. Both phones are not getting SMS's on time or not at all. Obviously this is a common problem because I had to ring CBA to turn off my SMS security verication because it just did not work.
I am also expriencing problems ringing overseas mobiles, the receiver can not hear my voice. Use a Telstra mobile or landline and it works straight away.

4653 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is very bad at 27 Dec 2010 06:46:18 PM
I have a phone reception tower only 3 doors up from my house, & i still get really poor vodafone broadband internet . I can get good phone coverage and ok mobile internet coverage. How can this be if all coverage is from the same phone tower?...Anyway i heard telstra runs the towers so that could be a reason... They might be blocking vodafones reception.I might switch to testra for that reason......they own everyhing when it comes to telecommunications in australia. Also telstra were only fined a small amount recently for blocking other companys from using their towers and giving bad connections or signals for those companys.Telstra can afford these fines thats why they must be blocking vodafones signal.vodafone is hopless for mobile broadband in semi rural areas .
28 Dec 2010 06:38:20 AM: Vodafone is responsible for its own network performance - they area totally separate network from Telstra or Optus. Telstra does not control any of Vodafone's infrastructure - they might share the same pole or tower but all their antennas and other equipment is separate.
4652 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is at 27 Dec 2010 06:45:55 PM
I am with 3 who have merged with vodaphone. I used to get far better coverage and less dropouts etc, B4 the merger. Now the coverage is shocking and i often have to go ouside and walk around to get coverage at my own home. When i entered the contract 8 months ago I was told the coverage could only improve as they expand their network. It has actually done the oposite for me, I would love to get out of the contact.

4651 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally at 27 Dec 2010 06:45:53 PM
Having lost a phone I got a new one through Vodafone and supposedly placed on the new 75 dollar cap.
In November I received my bill for October. I owe over $700.
This is on top of the 900 free section.
When I looked at it I had been charged for phone calls which supposedly where free as they were with 3.
When I questioned it they said I was on the old plan.
I did eventually argue my case and they credited me $640.00.
However on the next bill, no credit and a 140 debt.
This is on top of the fact that my calls keep failing even though there is plenty of reception and messages taking up to two days to come through.

Quite simple, so sick of being right in "supposed service area" and it looses reception. Constantly. I could be in a spot, step a ft to the left and it looses reception. I get delayed VM. I am on pre-paid and thought that's why reception AND coverage was so SH@T BUT, quite clearly it has nothing to do with it!!!! Happy camper- not at all. But sadly they do offer the best pre-paid plans so im stuck with it!!
PULL UP YA SOCKS VODAFAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear it is not just me. I have sent numerous emails and spoken to Vodafone after being hung up numerous times on everything listed on this site! My voicemails rarely come through, picture messages delayed, battery dies quickly, no reception in the eastern suburbs, beach house, country or when I head away on school camps when I need my phone for emergencies. Terrible Terrible Network that needs to seriously lift their game. They buy 3, that's all well and good however when I head away with my girlfriend(she is on 3) she gets reception in places I don't. What is going on their? It is time to improve or collapse!
