26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

17887 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 11 May 2011 09:25:48 AM
Okay, So I've been with Vodafail ever since I got my first mobile around 2000, They used to be great. but recently, say in the past 6months to a year, they have gone down hill, i've noticed i've been getting slightly overcharged on my $49 Cap ever month, it went from being $50.01 and today i got my bill for $69.84, I know for a fact that there is no way I could have gone over the bill as I was away for some of the time and when I was in SYD I couldn't get reception to makes calls or use the internet. I decided to log on and check my bill, i've been doing that now for a few hours and it comes up that there is a problem retriving it.. This is so unbelievably frustrating.. I am seriously considering moving to another provider...
11 May 2011 09:55:05 AM: Save yourself the pain and check out the 'How to Complain' page at the top. If you have having that many problems then you could try getting out of your contract without charge or at least getting that bill fixed up. Goodluck!

12 May 2011 05:45:19 PM: I went to the store and basically after a few fun hours, they refunded me the money for this bill and last bill, but they say they can't for the others as its already been processed or some shit and i should have said something then. My contract is up at the end of the month and i am not re-signning.
thanks for the suggestions.

When I first came to Australia about a year ago, I was surprised and unpleasantly intrigued learning that you have to enter into contract.

Where I come from, locking contracts are ILLEGAL - forbidden by the law.

May be this is a good time to rise this issue on a state level and ban service contracts for every single service provider regardless of service type.

After all, the CONSTITUTION STATES THAT I AM A FREE PERSON WITH FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND WILL.

If I am happy with what I get I will bare with the service provider, otherwise I should be able to walk away ans seek better deals.
12 May 2011 02:35:04 AM: But telcos are offering you a phone, often worth upwards of $1000. There's no way it would be possible to allow you to take a free phone and then cancel your service immediately. That's stupid. The constitution doesn't say that you can do whatever you like. Have a think about what you're actually saying here.

Currently if you purchase your own phone, you are not locked into a contract.

17876 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Worst Company at 10 May 2011 02:57:36 PM
On Xmas Eve last year, Voda debited over $600.00 from my account for no reason. Took me 3 weeks to get it back over the holiday period. No explanation, no apology, no communication at all. Now, last week, they've taken $1049.00 from my account. No reason, I only owe them $23! Nobody can help me, they deny having received the money and insist I dont owe them that amount!! YES, I know I dont owe you the money so give it back! Nobody in India or Australia cares. I sent them my bank statement and guess what...they deny receiving it so I have to send it again. With 3 kids, a mortgage and about $100.00 left in my account I'm struggling. THEY DONT CARE!! If you are stuck in a contract with this hapless company, DO NOT SIGN A DIRECT DEBIT AUTHORITY! They've taken over $1600.00 from my account with no explanation. And yes, I'm still on hold!!
10 May 2011 03:36:59 PM: Any lawyers out there? A similar thing to the above happened to me (although, thankfully, I was able to get a loan to cover my rent). I lost a LOT of hair during those months!!

Is it possible to sue for emotional distress? This might sound absurd to someone who's not been through this, but I can tell you I was in a bad way for some weeks/months.

When I watch the vodafail video when he's picking up the bottle (to send a message in a bottle), I still think he's turning to the drink!!

Wondering if any store workers have suffered from stress/anxiety in a similar way?
10 May 2011 04:26:56 PM: Wow - horror story!

My friends you need to go to the TIO as soon as possible, this state of affairs is simply not good enough.

The contact details are at the top of the page in the How To Complain tab - do it sooner and not later.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
10 May 2011 04:38:17 PM: Thanks for your support! I posted the above comment, and I'm honestly STILL on the phone. Have now sent my statement to them 4 times and they still dont have it, they want to call me back tomorrow, which they never do!

It's not absurd, this BS they go on with can take years off your life.

I sympathise with the employees though, this mess is not their fault and they are simply trying to earn a buck. They all seem unhappy when I speak to them, they must hate working there. The problem is at the top, the culture needs to be changed...they need to help customers, not hinder our lives.
At least the person I'm speaking to right now has given me their own hotmail address to send an email to, the first person to listen to me.

I wonder if the CEO would do that!!?
10 May 2011 08:21:21 PM: Yea it pretty terrible and I'm sure the employees aren't enjoying any of this either. The TIO should be able to help recover any money but if you're looking for emotional damages you would have to speak to a lawyer. The lawfirm conducting the class action against vodafone is here: http://piperalderman.com.au/vf/

Hope it doesn't get to that though and the money is recovered ASAP!

I posted the same post for the wrong area. Previously I put "ACT".
My correct area is "NSW". Hence I am posting it again.

I lost reception at Townhall station. I waited for 30 minutes and could not get any reception until I rebooted my phone. When there was no network reception bar it shows "NO Service". It often happens and it is a real pain. Specially when you are desperate to make calls and you get "No Service".

This was really frustrating.

17868 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception Non-Existent at 10 May 2011 12:17:42 AM
Claims about coverage are total B-shit. In many large regional centres there is simply no V-Fail reception at all. Roxby Downs for example, when I was there in October last year, and too many other towns on east coast to remember. Thinking about buying a flock of carrier pidgeons...at least I could rely on them to get the message trough quicker than V-fail.
10 May 2011 08:37:19 AM: What type of phone are you using. Interested to know which handset works on the Vodafone network.

Using V-fail for wireless broadband (using Huawei Pocket WiFi). Always shows strong signal (lower North Shore) but drops out regularly and SLOWWWWWWWW. Has occassionally shown fast download but so infrequently it might as well claim dial-up modem speeds, and even that would be an improvement.
13 May 2011 11:01:45 AM: The modem could be faulty, Ask for replacement. I had mine replaced. Now it is working fine.

17855 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 10! at 9 May 2011 11:59:28 AM
I have had repeated problems with receiving and sending text messages. At one stage I was on the phone to Vodafone every day with a new issue. One day I wouldn't be able to receive text messages, they would "fix" the problem, then I wasn't able to send text messages!

After many phonecalls and my precious time, they are now telling me there is no problem on their end, that it must be the recipient / sender's network, not Vodafone. There are particular friends that am I not able to receive messages from, other days it is just everyone.

I have done the usual "fix" of turning my phone on and off, once it worked and I received about 15 text messages I had been waiting for. Since then, it hasn't worked to turn the phone on and off. I have inserted my Vodafone sim card into my work Telstra mobile, and about 10 messages came through on the other phone that I had been waiting for. I tested it a few times and had friends text me whom I could never receive texts from and it was fine. Over the weekend, the problem has come back again.

I am extremely frustrated at the very least and am seriously considering moving to another provider.

It seems now most times I try to send a txt to another vodafail user, the first attempt fails but the 2nd attempt works, even though I have full service, it takes about 2 mins before the 1st attempts fails.
Why is sending a simple txt now take so long.
On top of this I regularly loose all service on my mb and have to do a full restart before i can use it again...

17850 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete lack of service!! at 9 May 2011 10:09:31 AM
The service seems to constantly drop out! HELLO!! I want my phone to....make calls!!!!! What a crazy idea. If I do manage to make a call, it often drop outs and sometimes I can't call back as I have NO service. Voicemails never come throug on time - anything from 5 hrs up to 3 days late. Over the Easter weekend, besides the lack of texts, I had no service most of the day and when it did come up, messages were severely delayed - my voicemails didn't come through until after the weekend!! I HATE VODAFONE!!!!!!!!!!!

17831 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 7 May 2011 06:43:54 PM
People say that when they try to call me, I don't answer the phone. However, the fact is that I did not receive the call in the first place. I am not too sure then where are the calls getting diverted. If I don't answer the phone, at least I will get a missed call notification on my hand-set. But, that too was not the case as there was no notification. Icing on the cake was there was no coverage today for 45 minutes. I called Vodafone and they said that my complaint will be escalated to the technical team, but I will not receive any feedback. To top it all, the guy told me that you may ver well go ahead and cancel the contract if you are not happy with the service. No prizes to guess what will be my next step.
Pathetic service !!

17822 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Shifty assholes at 7 May 2011 09:09:21 AM
On $79 Cap, my usage details last month showed $863, but Vodafone still charged me $23.something extra..

I called in this morning to find that the online usage figure doesn't include GST!!!

Which means:

1. My $900 limit isn't really $900!!! If I reach $900 and Voda will add 10% GST in the billing process and the final usage becomes $990!!!!! I can only use about $818 worth of calls, as 10% added GST will make it around $900

2. Their call rates on the website is crock of shit as they don't include GST that Voda will eventually add on top.

3. They really do have bad business model... Of all things, billing should be transparent at all times! Can't show usage of $XXX and add 10% GST in the final billing process!!! And if that goes over the monthly limit, the customer have to pay extra!!

17705 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failed at 5 May 2011 10:37:52 AM
I have a USB internet connection that isnt working properly. I complained and after working through the workaround options with a staff member received an incident number and told that they investigate the problem and then would respond to me within 3 days.

I received a text with the incident number on it. After 3 days I called and was told to wait another 2 business days. This time I was told that it would take 5 business days for the investigation to be completed.

When I told the staff member that I was recording this on the Vodafail website for a complaint they then ask me for my particular details again so that they could look at my particular account. I complained that I didnt want to keep giving my access details to different staff as I didnt trust their security. I was also worried that now that I had told them that I was complaining I might have more problems.

The staff member insisted and so I gave him my access details. He then just repeated that I needed to wait another 2 business days. He did not give me any further information that was relevant to my particular details so I am even more concerned that he did not need my details but wanted them when I told him that I was complaining.

1. Constant bad handling -delayed-of text or mms messaging, could result in life or death situation for certain people as unreliable service frustrates information handling. medical or emergency services cannot be contacted in many instances- disabled people need phones and access to!
2. Poor reception- inability to continue or make calls in my location- constant dropouts
3. Very poor wait time for customer service assistance (unbearably long)
4. Rubbish broadband on wireless modem.
5. No follow up for plan-holders with offers on replacement handsets- they do wear out!- what happened?
6. Constantly being badgered to sign again for plans just to get new handset- staff at shops do not understand- we already are customers, and simply want newer handsets not new numbers or plans! pre-pay or existing we only want access to current model handsets - is that too hard?
7. Wait time in most Voda-shops is ridiculous- am i invisible?

I am sad to be leaving but can not take the abuse anymore from customers. I know all of you are frustrated and all I would say is try and have some patience when you talk to anybody in Australia as it seems as soon as you speak to an australian after speaking to someone in Mumbai you take out your anger on the person that actually understands and wants to help.
Good luck all and well done on a website that will hold these GM's accountable!

17677 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Historically stressed at 4 May 2011 03:43:42 PM
Everything was wrong. Call quality; drop outs; invoices not arriving by email as I apparently changed it; call centre merry-go-round; Lara!!; emails not sending; SMS taking hours to leave a handset; new handset - got a virus; lied about "cooling off period".

But.....

Finally agreed to release from one contract without penalties - had to return new handset, and another for drastically reduced penalty.

Then.....

No satchel arrived to return phone; second satchel requested; two satchels arrived; phone returned; verbal agreement not on record; $2,000 bill; angry customer; phone not recorded as received; helpfull supervisor (in India); Australia Post system confirmed return of handset; returned phone located as received in different system; verbal agreement found and accepted; final bill for legitimate voice calls waived due to further disruption (i.e 1 hour call to complain about $2,00 bill).

Faith restored - will not discount them as potential supplier when they get their mess sorted out.

They know that they have some serious problems, and if you get through to senior people - they seem to do the right thing.

If you are unhappy (as I was), then complain and see what they will do.

4 May 2011 06:29:46 PM: How did you escalate to chase up the satchel after the first one did not arrive
5 May 2011 10:01:44 AM: I have a similar issue.. the satchel didn't arrive so i have not chased them up,.. nor have they chased me up... when they do i'll return the handset.

I have spoken to the Indian Lara, our call got cut off. She tried to call me back, once and couldn't get through. So she sent a text saying she couldn't get through. Is this Lara bird just stupid ? or is the service level and urgency for issues set to zero ?

But of course, my service has been cut off because I missed a payment by a couple of days and yet I cannot get a slowdafone person to call me and sort out anything.

Email via the official site get the response, "We haven't heard from you again so we are changing the status to fixed"

Fixed ? !!!!!

It's a big F OFF from me.

12 years with them, and the last year has been CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No call whatsoever connects without a reception problem and I live IN THE CITY (Redfern). I call my wife (vodafone to vodafone) and we need to do walkie talkie protocol - now you talk etc - else we get reflections and missing voice. I think I going to break my contract by not paying and let them take me to court. I worked for Telstra for 4.5 years in I.T, there is no excuse. I did NOT sign up to this product and I wont pay for what I got.

I tried to sign up with vodafone, I gave them all the details they asked for, then a few days later I get a credit check fail, they tell me its because they couldnt contact my workplace, they didnt ask for any of my payslips, and when I tell them I can give them more information, they tell me they cant do a credit check for another month...i mean seriously...their online sign up doesnt allow you to give the details you need to give, coz their system doesnt accept it, and then on top of that, they cant even sign up a new customer....i have a credit card for god sake and a car loan, those werent hard at all to get with a stable job...but with vodafone...to go on a plan is totally F***** up and hard....
5 May 2011 02:57:40 AM: That doesn't sound right. Usually the credit department can overturn any declines. Did you apply through a store or online? When you apply through a store they can submit further information such as payslips to have it approved

Sick of having to find a particular spot where I can make a call. And then even once the call has connected, if I move one step away the call drops out!
Certainely not worth the money I am paying monthly for a service I do not get!

For the past one week, my SMSs overseas to Nigeria have not been going through on a consistent basis, sometimes I have to send the same sms 2-3 times and follow-up with a call to the receving party. Each time, deduction is made even when the sms has not been received. What's the point? What's also the point of having to follow-up with a call. Screw Vodafone

I've been with Vodafone for over 4 years, and i started to have really bad reception problems mid last year. It's now gotten to the point where i'm thinking of changing to another provider as my manager at work and other people try to contact me and although i'm in Sydney, apparently i'm not available due to the ridiculous coverage.

My 3 sisters, mother and father are also on Vodafone, when i try to call them, it barely ever gets through. My father is losing business as his clients call and can't ever get through.

This is ridiculous, Vodafone. Do something about it now or you're going to lose a whole lot more customers.

4 May 2011 10:44:22 AM: to be honest it's the third last line of your problem that really gets to me too. I had a similar experience. People are generally understanding when telcos have outages or whatever, but it's when they lie about it so extensively that's just totally out of line. "They lie through their teeth". So true.
4 May 2011 03:47:50 PM: My understanding is that the merge of the Voda and 3 networks failed. The companies merged some time ago, but the networks (apparently) merged around Dec 2010).

17656 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 3 May 2011 11:22:46 PM
Never had a problem with Vodafone. So I upgraded.
Surprisingly Vodafone kept an old address that I gave on a prepaid number years ago and mixed that up with my recent address that I signed my contract under. They send my phone to an 6 year old address of mine. One and a half month and 15 phone calls later I'm still waiting for a post office in Brisbane to send my phone back to Vodafone. Since I'm living since years in Sydney I will have to wait another few weeks. It doesn't help to tell them that they made a misstake and they have to get their parcel back. I got asked to call Australian Post and order the parcel back to Vodafone. What I did weeks ago.
I have the feeling Vodafone extended their staff with untrained personal and now it doesn't make sense at all to talk to them.

This whole episode is going to get even messier, the TIO contact details are found in the How To Complain tab.

Suggest you do not delay on this one as fairly soon you will have a black mark against your credit rating.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

4 May 2011 03:57:06 PM: Similar problems. I found that expressing anger whilst staying calm, and politely refusing to speak to anyone other than a supervisor got me there in the end.

Many many hours on hold. Calls to them cutting off (surprise!) and them not calling me back, resulting in call centre and on hold again. Lots of frustrations and friends/family not interested in my storries of woe (come to this site to cry over a virtual beer with fellow sufferers).

I read these comments with a smile - now that I have a fleet of iPhone4's on Telstra that were working and configured as I walked out the store (George St upstairs team are helpfull).

Last week, finally agreed that they will not deduct $2,000 from my bank - let's see if the saga has actually ended!

Good Luck.
5 May 2011 08:40:07 PM: @17655 Straight off the bat at the end of the day somebody accepted the delivery of the alleged phone that has caused a lot of issues. Seems as though if you were out or if that was the process given would you not advise people in the office of your business to follow through with what was needed, that was to reject the delivery of the phone.

No a dig but defaintely your responsibility. Anyway all of that seems obvious I mean in their records they will have instantces of closing/canceling/rejecting the service and it seems to be that this has not been processed.

With out getting anrgy (very important if you get anrgy they will probably focus on the anger like any other human and panic) you should check if they #1 have the record of cancel/closing/rejection. If so then your worries should be minimal. #2 did you ask to close off any auto payments/direct debits/auto credits etc? If so then again you have no worries this will be refunded you just need to ask simply a long the line of............

"hey guys, I asked for this cancellation (or whatever) on.............
Can you please check to see if you guys have received the phone as I have returned this using the bags sent to me on..............
When will I expect to see the refund in my account and when should I call if I have not recieved this?"

If you asked this in a long drawn out story or on anger be expected to not get a result asap most people struggle to get the point if you have not asked simple questions that anyone can understand.

My point to this story is, it's not always the companies fault just make sure you complete the process given and ask questions like timeframes/their processes/expectations. Remember it's easier to work with a person rather than against them.

As a small business who works from home i signed up for the biz plan. I live and work in coogee, one of the most densely populated areas of sydney.

my reception at home is so bad i have resorted to skype to make calls. when i call vodafail to complain their call centre can't even hear me and are always saying "hello, are you there, hello"

i intend on asking for at least 50% of all my bills until the network in coogee is fixed. if they refuse i will not pay any bill, leave my contract and send them an invoice for work lost due to their non delivery of contractual obligations.

these guys a jokers.

I refused (reception too bad) and after a long battle was permitted to leave without penalty.

17653 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big Time at 3 May 2011 09:10:58 PM
My Iphone gone faulty on Sunday morning, couldn't hear anything from the headset.
Called the customer service, under 28 days warranty I could go back to the store and swap with new one.
Not knowing that the store that I purchased from is 'dealer' store which unable to swap the phone on the same day (required 2-3 days to check and swap the phone), then I called the customer service back, and he advised to go to the Top Ryde retail store instead and he also mentioned that he will put notes on my account explaining the issue.
When I arrived in the Top Ryde retail store, met with 'not so enthusiast' rep, I told them about the iphone issue, without even hade my iphone checked he barely refused to do the swap as I did not purchase the phone in his store. I asked him nicely to check the note in my account, and I even had to make another phonecall to customer service and again explain the situation. I even asked the customer service to talk to the store rep which did not seem interested helping out 'vodafail' customer.
Then the customer service told me that he had put 'authorised note by the manager' to do the swap, but the 'retail' store still refused with reason that that did not comply with the store's policy (How come they have dual conflicting policy in the Vodafail?). Wondering what the point the customer service putting that 'authorised note' in the system if the store didn't even comply with it??? ... really that Top Ryde Vodafail store sucks big time!
Spent 2.5 hours running back forth between 2 stores and on the phone with 4 differents cust services, I gone home empty handed still with the faulty iphone.
At home again I contacted the customer service, told him everything happpened that day, about rejection and poor customer service on Top Ryde store. He promised me to escalate the problem and get his manager to call me back the next day.
Next day I got the manager called me, he told me that he was going to call the Top Ryde store to let me swap the phone. Wait for 5 mins he said okay to do the swap on that store, but I had to do it today.
I told him that was impossible where I just finished work at 6, as would the store. He tried to convince me if I didnt get there today that 29 days warranty would be void which dont make any sense as I was still under the warranty until the next week, and even more I had tried to swap the phone the day before, so I told him back that your threat was irrelevant and weak.
AT the end he said ok for me to go to the store until the end of this week.

It's been just too much bullsh1t with Vodafail!
ps: TIO will contact you soon :)
5 May 2011 08:45:50 PM: This is a legitamate good story that actually makes sense. You did eveything that was asked and were given false promises it seems. I hope things do work out for you mate as this is a painful experience to go through especially dealing with loads of people. A good tip is to try and speak with one person if possible and if the first time it fails ask to speak with managment earlier but hey you defaintely got treated badly here.
5 May 2011 10:12:45 PM: As promised on 1/5/11, someone called me from Vodafone. He asked me about the store details and rang the store. After being held for 15mins, he got back to me and said that the store now has agreed to swap the phone, he asked me to come back to the store today (store closed at 6pm). I told him that didnt make any sense, as I finished work at 6, but I told him that I'd come on Thursday (store closed at 9pm and he said okay.
I also had press him to make sure I wouldnt face any more refusal from the store to swap the phone, and he'd agreed with that.

Today 5/05/11, I come back to the store and met the manager, and still have the same refusal, they refuse to swap the phone with the same awesome reason. I told him I wouldn't come back to the store to be refused if the customer care didnt say that I could come back.

And this is the best part, ... I asked him to call the customer care to put his argument with them, and after 2 mins waiting on the phone he told me "it's gonna be 20 mins mate" ( ha ha ha, now you know how awful waiting to speak to your own customer care).

They had their own argument, but again as the store is the side who can decide, they decide not to swap the phone....

I have no other choice, .. TIO will receive my 2nd complaint....

Any takers? I'm prepared to fund the whole thing just to do some damage to this bogus company.

Email me to express interest

(Contact details removed)

Don't get mad, get even.
3 May 2011 01:41:35 PM: Great idea!
5 May 2011 08:55:23 PM: This is a horrible form of frustration. I just wonder if it will make you feel better and if you could direct your energy towards something more useful. Remember it is a large company you will get more people that are satisfied than annoyed of the service. The problem is some people have insane expecatations and some don't.

For me I research and test the service before diving in. If I was to purchase a Mobile Broadband Stick for example I will check somebody else that has the same service and ask experience before purchasing and entering (like all teleco companies) a contract.

If I am dissatisfied then I would consider what I may have done wrong first then discuss (not argue) with customer service.

I wouldn't make a sticker campaign becasue I am anrgy. I would accept responsiblity and thats that.

Good luck though mate.

Thanks to a glitch in the automated recharge hotline, my mum (a pensioner) lost $50 while trying to recharge with a store bought recharge card/bit of paper. She had been trying to recharge with '365 days credit' however the automated phone menu went into a loop every time she picked the option. After several attempts, she hit the wrong button in frustration and ended up with a 30day Flexi plan a day before she set off on a six week trip overseas. She wanted a working phone when she landed back in Australia - she's now lost all her accumulated credit as it expired while she was away. To make matters worse, before hearing her story I had bought her a new Voda branded prepaid as a mother's day gift for when she got back. There is some good news though, I was on the verge of signing up to a 24 month Vodafone contract myself but thankfully now I know better. I think I'm just going to smash the new prepaid, just for the satisfaction of taking one Vodafone handset out of circulation.

The Vadafone/3 mobile text message network just happened to coincide when my parents were travelling home from South America.
With no access to the internet the only form of communication was through SMS.
However, due to the network outage, I wasn't to realise they were diverted to Auckland airport (where they remained for 7 hours) until after they were due into Sydney.
It is impossible to continue to pay for a service that, during times of need, fails.
I have moved on. I have signed with Optus, and am awaiting my payout bill from vodafone/3 mobile. Whatever it is, it will be worth it. It will be a small price to pay to ensure the means of communication are secure during times of need.

Recently bought vodafone pocket wifi and sim from Date Communications at Richmond Marketplace. The owner gave me a micro-SIM which I found later does NOT work in the pocket wifi. I returned to the shop the following day, and was told they do not have the particular SIM card in stock. I demanded a refund and the girl at the counter efused to refund me. What can I do? Not only did the owner lie regarding the workability of this wifi but also stole my money. Not happy Jan!!
1 May 2011 07:24:09 PM: Hi the pocket wifi is a great product and i have purchased mine from the same place and had no problem. I got the store owner to get it working for me she was really helpful. Why dont you goback to the store and get them to help you install it, instead off making claims that they took your money. I have purchase a few prepaid things from that store and they ALWAYS as me if i want them to connect it for me and i have always told them to and never had a problem. i will advise you that the first sim card i got was not working well but the store manager fixed it for me. Go back and talk to the person that sold it to you and dont make claims before you get it checked out. Somebody in Windsor.

17594 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Network coverage worse than dial up at 1 May 2011 06:06:02 AM
I have called customer service weekly to complain about coverage. The just say theycare upgrading the system and I pretty much have to toleratecthis shoddy service for a month. And if I the problem persists ring back in 24 hours so they escalate my complaint. I give up! Its all too exhausting. Is that their intention?

I paid out my contract due to being in what theyat Vodafone would claim to be an excellent coverage area, and had to constantly go outside to maintain coverage, my internet is at best poor, with repeated drop=outs (4th in an hour as I type here) Very poor customer service to attempt a reconciliation with, and on multiple occaisions having to return my own calls, on the worst it was 6 weeks!! VODAFAIL ABSOLUTE!!

17585 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete failure at 30 Apr 2011 04:54:29 PM
the vodafone store at pitt and park street has the rudest and most uninterested customer service staff of any vodafone store i've been to. i wanted to buy the iphone4 on the infinite45 plan over 24 months and i was surprised at what little knowledge the girl at the store had and her attitude showed she wasn't interested in making a sale. i felt i was an interuption to her leisure time at work. i thought about making the purchase online instead but have now decided to look elsewhere to other providers.
1 May 2011 02:10:44 AM: I went to this store recently and yes the shop assistants there really don't give a toss about serving customers. They prefer to talk among themselves or fool around on their Facebook. I tried to renew my mobile contract and upgrade to a more expensive plan (yes, give them more money than I do now). The shop assistant told me I had to do it on the phone and that it wasn't her job. Anyone who has tried to do anything with Vodafone over the phone will know you have to wait on hold forever. When I asked why I couldn't get it done there she simply walked away and ignored me. I was in no way rude or anything, I merely wanted to continue being a Vodafone mobile customer and I could not believe I was being turned away. I think my days of being a loyal Vodafone customer are about to end.
1 May 2011 03:44:57 PM: I know this store too. I went in for a business plan for 5 phones on unlimited plans (alot of money i know) and was told to come back later.... there were 3 shop assistants and NO customers in the store.... Do they not work on commission?
3 May 2011 09:28:20 PM: They can't possibly work on commission at this store. I went there last Saturday to buy a mobile phone on a plan but the young Asian female shop assistant told me to order it over the phone yet she couldn't be bothered providing me with the phone number. I left and went to the Telstra shop instead.
4 May 2011 11:44:14 PM: Sounds like the girl who served me when I tried to get a mobile broadband pocket wifi that I saw advertised in the paper. She told me to go online to order it which might have been OK if I had an internet connection in the first place. The whole reason for me wanting to make the purchase was so that I could have internet access. She didn't seem to understand nor did she care.

You can't talk to someone for more than 30secs without the call dropping off. And remind me again what century are we in?I think my messages can be conveyed more reliably with a pigeon!

17581 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Where do I start at 30 Apr 2011 11:34:15 AM
I was with Virgin for 6 years, one month with Vodafone and I've had more problems in the month with Voda than I did with Virgin for 6 years...

Calls dropping out, poor 3G connection, myvodafone problems, SMS problems... I must have made over 20 calls to Vodafone trying to get things sorted out...but nothings fixed....

After many many complaints, I had my first bill wavered, next 4 months free..but today i went on to myvodafone to check my current usage details and saw I'm up to $860 but they are going to charge me extra $23.00. I'm on $79 cap and my allowance is $900, so well under the limit. So I called Vodafone this morning blowing up asking why they are going to charge me extra? After an hour, they are putting my current situation under investigation, and given me $100 extra allowance next months...

But I have to say I don't trust them and very thankful that I didn't give them my bank details or credit card details...

17575 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FAIL! at 29 Apr 2011 10:38:23 PM
In my home I have almost no reception. Not enough to conduct a conversation.
I have called a number of times to complain (when I am in a reception area) and have been hung up on twice and the call has dropped out too many times to count.
I do not live in a remote location - I am in Sydney metro. It has become increasingly worse over the past six months! I have been a customer for 15 years this year and I am changing to another provider and cancelling all my services.
30 Apr 2011 06:24:35 PM: I live in Sydney and I experience poor coverage too. Lately I am texting more than calling because of constant call dropouts.

17567 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 29 Apr 2011 06:00:41 PM
I am finding that vodafones software suite is falsely reporting epic speed when the truth is it is horribly slow, the suite sometimes reports 1MB NOT Mb, MB while download speeds and ping times reflect more like 20-30Kb's of available bandwidth!!!! i understand vodafone are currently in-broiled in a giant law suit but come on this is just plain lying!

17565 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unbelievable fail at 29 Apr 2011 05:13:34 PM
About a month ago, Vodafone offered to take me away from the 3 mobile broadband network onto their own. Being some sort of dual company nowadays, they agreed to cover the contract exit fee in order to suck me into the migration process. I did so and now for some epic reason, I receive some kind of $99 bill from 3 on my credit card. That looks like a month in advance for a service I'm no longer with plus some other hidden fee that makes no sense whatsoever. To top it off, I still have a pending fee in the next couple of days to cover the vodafone bill. I'm cancelling these idiots immediately because I can't get through to Vodafone or 3 help services. The TIO is my next stop. Documents are on standby. This move will cost them a lot more than returning my $99 now.. A LOT more.

17561 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No signals at 29 Apr 2011 02:07:20 PM
I live in the innner west, previous used optus and always have full bars at my place but with vodafone, one bar or no bar at all. Even when I am in the city, still sometimes just one bar, I get a lot of voice mails since people could not reach me!! I am not even talking about the 3G coverage! Half of the time, no 3g coverage and a quarter of the time is no phone signal coverage! I really want to get out of my current contract as this seriously affect my work and my everyday life. Anyway has any idea of how to terminate the contact with proper law suits?

After 2 years of putting up with dodgy reception in central metropolitan areas, no reception whatsoever anywhere outside the metropolitan, I am glad to say I am finally OUT!!
2 weeks ago I ended my contract and have gone to Telstra. Since then my 3G has been 10 times faster than Vodafone, I have had zero call failures and sms have all sent through without fail.
Pick up your act Vodafone, or I can't see a very long future for you.

17555 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone disconnected their service. at 29 Apr 2011 01:08:20 PM
My mother had a Vodafone 365 Day Prepaid Account but was disconnected before the 365 days was up, and lost $30 worth of credit.
Also experienced missing and late messages, call dropouts, and messages along the lines of 'The network is currently busy. Your call cannot be connected.' when trying to call overseas.

17541 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is This Is Failure Bigtime at 28 Apr 2011 07:36:38 PM
My internet started dropping out last Easter Sunday, i rang on Monday and was told it was my computer, I reformatted the computer and installed the wifi back into the computer, same problem, no internet, i rang again, they stepped me setting the wifi to 3G only, pushed connect, still no internet, it seems the 3G internet network is not working, they asked me tobe patient and the issue will be resolved, it's been 5 days now and still no internet and still no answer as to when the network will be fixed, I was offered tonight a $10 credit for the trouble and out of that $10 I have spent $4 of it ringing Vodafone. i was told i could go with another provider for 3 months while they try to get the problem fixed and then come back to vodafone or i could have 25% taken off the next 3 bills but then i still don't have the internet but was going to be charged 75% of the bill, figure that one out.

One representative when i called laughed at me, I asked him what his problem was, he laughed again so i ripped into him and asked to be put through to the billing dept, he laughed again, another representative i was talking with had a bunch of other workers standing near him and they were joking around and laughing and clapping their hands and talking in their language and I could not hear the person i was talking with.....another representative i spoke with i could not understand a word they were saying and thought that it was just pointless and hung up the phone.

Im sick and tired of them saying "Were sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you"....that does not give me back my internet...I have told them I refuse to pay anymore money to them, I have put a complaint into the telecommunications ombudsman but it has to go to level two now as this has become more than a joke and way past failure.
29 Apr 2011 09:38:04 AM: I left Vodafu.. months ago and went to Optus. Everything ok for a while but then network seems to be getting worse and worse. Unable to connect at all yesterday and day before. Finally connected today. I suspect ALL ISP's are having network problems going by forums on www.whirlpool.net.au. None are explaining or even acknowledging the problems on their 'status' network pages.

17539 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete fail at 28 Apr 2011 07:28:22 PM
Vodafone has the worst customer service I have ever come accross. if you go into a store it takes forever to get served and half the time they cant help you anyway. Many, many times I rang vodafone for assistance only to be put on hold for ages at a time or transfered endlessly from one person to another, each time having to explain my problem and then be told "I cant help you, I'll just put you through to some one else." Another issue with vodafone's customer service is that 'Lara' freak you have to talk to at the start - what happened to having a real person?? Why would anyone want to speak to a machine??

I could go on forever about vodafone's terrible customer service, but it just makes me angry thinking about it. For the rest of my life I will never, ever use vodafone again - they are completely useless and a joke of a business

17538 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete fail at 28 Apr 2011 07:23:31 PM
Vodafone used to send me email bills which I could pay online. When my credit card details changed their website never let me change the card details, when I logged on and filled out the information it would not go past the save details page. Then, when I tried to pay on their website it would do the same thing. This made it difficult to pay my bill as I had to do each one by Bpay instead of direct debit. When I got my final bill and tried to pay it via Bpay the payment was repeatedly rejected beacause I apparently no longer had an account with vodafone. I tried many times to pay the bill and in many different ways (credit, bpay etc). Whenever I called to get help I was put on hold for ever and when I went into the shops they were unable to help. In the end I managed to sort it out, but it took forever and I was never offered any help from vodafone to solve the problem. Now that that contract is finished I will never, ever, under any circumstances use vodafone again. They are a complete nightmare to deal with.
29 Apr 2011 09:40:39 AM: It was their accounting system that did my head in, refusal to update balance to reflect payments. Left them months ago, no problem as TIO very good
