26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Not only the service has degraded significantly over the last eight months. I started checking weekly my current spend to insure I don't get ripped off. But today, I went in to check and to add insult to injury, self service is not working. So now I can't even see that Vodaflop is ripping me off in advance of the bill.

ok guys i've put a few posts on and want to let you know there is hope!! after 2 weeks of arguing with vodafail i got out of my contract 10 months early...heres how. (this is for an iphone but will prob work on others and is what the vodafail team in store told me) call "lara" ask for retentions and upgrades....tell them you want out coz of poor service if this is the case....they will try offer deals...dont accept unless your happy with them...ask for an investigation into service/coverage/reception in your area and that if they dont resolve it to your satisfaction you are going to TIO. they will say they will call back, they tried while i was working i answered and asked for them to call back later...no call. waited a few days and called them and asked for resolutions team...guy did a few checks and "yes ma'am your in a low service area we will release you from your contract just send phone back in post bag we send" gladly sent their dodgy phone back....also if you dont get the postbag in said amount of days go instore and get them to make note that you looked for it!...now too see what they do with my bill....goodluck guys!

Customer care promises to phone back in an hour - no call. This happens 3 times in 1 day and they just keep passing the problem onto someone else. Cant understand people on the other end. Have to repeat yourself 10 times so they get what your saying. As soon as my issue is resolved im going to Optus.

Last august my mobile broadband contract with vodafone ended so i was paying as i went. Anyway my modem broke and they told me that i had to either purchase a new one (for $200) or i could cancel my plan (at no cost as contract had finished) and start a fresh one on the new bundles and get the free modem which I choose. So they cut my sim up in front of me and threw out my broken modem. So 6 months down the track I get a letter of demand from a debt collection agency saying that i owe $400. I was confused as I make direct debit payments every fortnight. ANYWAY long story short it turns out that they didnt actually cancel my old plan so I have been continuing to pay that one and the new one was sitting there building up with no payment. But instead of trying to fix it after numerous phonecalls last night I was put on hold and when the call centre person returned (after 25mins)they advised me that they had been speaking to the supervisor and that my case was considered fraud as I told them I only had one mobile broadbamd account. They said someone will contact me within 24 hours to disscuss it further. So because of THEIR mistake I am down money, have been referred to a debt agency AND accused of Fraud. Seriouly Vodafone. YOU ARE USELESS.

Vodafone is starting to tick me off. I have had my phone for 10 days, changed providers, and the phone loses signal, drops out while I am on a call and in my room does not have signal at all. I got a new phone from them as well and the phone lags, it freezes and the battery dies within hours after making a 10 minute call!!!!!!!!!! I am so annoyed and when I went to vodafone they didn't even help me with this problem!!!

I have been with vodafone for over 6 years i have a 3G doogle and Mobile on a contract for the past one and half months i have had lose of coverage every day while in middle of calls i lose coverage and call drops. My doogle most of the time doesnt connect to the internet and keeps getting error if my 3G bill is looked at i have hardly been able to use it due to this reason i have 2 other people in the house who are vodafone and having the same issue. I am disappointed as i have been a long time customer with them and feel we should be advised is there are maintence issues or upgrades rather than being left with no service and paying for it.

15338 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is aaaaarrrrgggghhhhh at 7 Feb 2011 09:56:46 PM
Called 3 Customer Care, who were experiencing "abnormally high call volumes" (again?!)
I repeated my name and date of birth to six different people.
I got told the obvious ("there shouldn't be a problem with your service").
I followed their instructions to reset my iphone settings (losing my carefully ordered apps into an alphabetical mess, didn't help).
I downloaded and installed new software (didn't help).
... then after TWO HOURS AND NINE MINUTES the guy told me that there was nothing wrong with the network and that it must be my SIM card, i needed to go to a local 3 store, get a new SIM and if it still didn't work, to call him back... because i have nothing better to do with my time.
9 Feb 2011 08:13:18 PM: ...it must be your SIM card...

Man, they must be confused way beyond perception. SIM card is just a storage of ones ID and mobile number, nothing more. Once the device gets connected to the network it does not even use the SIM, virtually you can even remove it if the device allows it.

Jeez, day in and day out, we are discovering more ways of ignorance Vodafone can come up with.

Everyone, who reads this, if they ever tell you the problem is in SIM card, simply tell them you're not stupid and if they have nothing else to say then you know your next step...

This is the latest hit from Vodafone - released about a month ago. :)

When trying to view your usage details in "My Account" section on the website the following error shows up:

Sorry for the inconvenience
- An unexpected error has occurred. Please close your browser and try again later or call 1555 (a free call from a Vodafone mobile) or 1300 650 410 from another telephone service (standard charges apply) to complete your request.

So for the past month I have been "trying again later".

This is a capsized comedy... :)
(LOL "capsized" - "cap" and "sized").

15313 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is black hole fail at 7 Feb 2011 12:56:21 PM
yay! just ported my number over to Telstra after being let out of my vodafail contract 7 months early due to all the issues i was having. :D happy days! First thing the guy in telstra shop said when i told him i was with vodaphone "oh im sorry!" lol.
So yeah, dont give up!! If you arnt getting service dont put up with i...t.
Also when trying to port my number we had to ring the vodafone call centre while in telstra shop to get my account number, after 7 minute wait and no one answering, i ended up walking to the vodafone shop in the same shopping centre and was standing there waiting for a good 10 minutes while 2 customers in front of me were complaining about having no coverage. one of them was on a $79 plan and let me tell you she wasnt happy !! Another one was in there after being on hold for 2 hours and getting the call back option and was never called back. the staff was just like nothing we can do you have to ring up. wow so helpful. Telstra staff were ALOT more helpful and took the time to sit down with me and explain everything about my new contract and showed me how to use my new phone. Ported my number within 2 minutes. and then she even took the time to get all the contacts off my vodafone sim and put them on the telstra one. VERY appreciative as last time i was in vodafone and they told me it was a sim issue they didnt save my contacts and it deleted them all. wasnt impressed!!!
8 Feb 2011 07:31:08 AM: Congratulations on getting out of your contract! I'm sure it took a lot of hard work but it's definitely worth it. A small investment of time and energy in order to make calls 7 months early.

15311 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unacceptable at 7 Feb 2011 12:31:33 PM
I am being sent information that is incorrect - I know this because I am not being sent regular statements. I complained about this - a year ago (after yes, having ''Lara'' on the other end of the line) and apart from me, The Customer, not having the time, like any of us, I felt Raped of endless money that is being paid without receiving regular statements which are always over the amount I signed up for. . I am in pain with confusion and I cannot even speak to a real person.

In the last year I have consistent network coverage issues. Consistent - my friends can only get hold of me on certain occasions and when they do, the phone cuts out. These are in areas of the CBD, the Eastern suburbs, Pyrmont and Botany !!!!!!

I will never have another contract with Vodafone for as long as I still breathe - plus, I'm a walking advertisement if a LITTLE is given in a quantitative way! So.... goes to show ...I've got to go get on the line to Voda Frrrrr

15303 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Miserable Wireless (USB) Internet at 7 Feb 2011 10:09:30 AM
I am using Optus cable internet as my main ISP and use Vodafail wireless internet as my backup just incase Optus Cable Internet is down (which did happens a couple of times). The speed of my Vodafail wireless internet (USB stck) is close to USELESS; the signal bar is always on the lower end of the scale. Time for Vodafone to wake up and get the problem(s) fixed. No use to market the service at cheap rate if the service is NOT up to scratch. Also, Vodafail's web site must be developed by the 'high school dropped out' developers. It is better NOT having a web site which is NOT working probably.

15280 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopelessly ridiculously pathetic at 6 Feb 2011 07:38:54 PM
We have renewed 4 new plans with Vodafone 3 months ago and the following happened:

All 4 plans were incorrected registered and despite spending over 4 hours with Vodafone, and on each occasion being reassured that they have been rectified, all 3 plans are still being overcharged;
Existing auto debit details did not roll over and I was threatened with a disconnect notice by SMS;
One of the new phone was both incoming and outgoing call barred and we found out that there were 3 months of payment in arrear when we first used the phone; we informed Vodafone calls were never made and no inovices were received either by mail, SMS or email while the plan detail were also incorrect. Vodafone denied our information and informed that invoices were sent to a Hotmail account; however that particular account is not attached to a Hotmail; SO THE VODAFONE STAFF MADE THE STORY UP!!!!;
We were informed that credit will be applied on the incorrect charges and late fee will be waived; as of today, they are still showing on our bill; We have been over-charged and the so called Help Desk is not helping at all!
And yes, calls have been dropped every now and then even in Sydney Metro

In short: Billing problem; dropped calls; incorrect advice/ promise by vodafone staff; on-hold for too long; overcharged; poor customer services and irresponsible directors!

Data speeds are shocking and have constant dropped calls. I see the following messages appear so often on my phone I'm starting to think it's an iphone feature ''Cannot activate cellular data' 'No Service' and 'web page unable to load. Why am i paying $79 a month for again?

Vodafail can go f@## themselves but before they do that i need to get out of my contract.

The sad thing is, when i do move to another service provider, I will be so greatful for an average of 3-4-5 bars of service that i will think it's a priviledge rather than a standard of service I SHOULD receive, that i'm paying for.

Feels good to vent. :)

I have tried unsuccessfully to contact vodafone for 6 weeks via email and telephone, they simply do not call me back. I contacted the tio and they told me to port my 7 numbers out and they would contact them on my behalf. After 14 days still nothing, the tio gave them another 48 hours, more like 100 when you take into consideration the weekend and my investigators sick day. Still nothing! It has now been classified as a level 3 complaint thus costing vodafone in excess of $20k simply in fines! They have to pay up not apply credits on this one and there is now a full blown investigation into their handling of my accounts! To say I am fed up is an understatement! Completely useless and incompetent behavior!! Let's hope the government gets involved and sends them back where they came from!!! Oh did I mention that I'm a Gold Dealer of their services!!! This is disgraceful conduct from a multi national company trading in the lucky country! The CEO has to be sacked immediately! Go to register on myvodafone which quotes "this should take no longer than 3 minutes" Put number in to "username"
we will send temporary password via sms. If not received within 15 minutes call. Do this twice then get told it could take up to a week due to technicalities. I'm out of my contract so I guess I'll have to pay the extra and go back to Telstra.

Since July 2010, I have experienced everything from no data coverage in my suburb at the weekends to call dropouts, delayed text and voice messages. I have spent up to 2 hours on Saturdays and even working hours (almost every 3-4 weeks since) trying to explain the problems as they occur to Vodafone customer service teams. My company-issue mobile, my personal mobile, my iPad and mobile broadband are all with Vodafone. In fact, in early December, the security alarm system in our premises was triggered at 1am but the security company was unable to get through on my mobile - and - I didn't receive their voice message until 12noon. Surprisingly - and - fingers crossed, my issues seems to have improved since all the publicity about Vodafail.
Although, an incident that occurred this week has prompted me to post this.
My boss is who is also a Vodafone customer is currently overseas. He travels overseas on a monthly basis. This week, he received a text from Vodafone advising they have suspended his service. Account is up to date, ie: no outstanding invoices. When I enquired as to why service was suspended, I was told that there was an UNBILLED roaming charge amount of $3,000+ incurred in the current cycle and that this amount had to be paid before service would be re-activated. Notwithstanding the fact that my boss has been a long standing Vodafone customer, frequently incurs up to $6,000 in roaming charges AND account is always paid in full when due.

i have been in a battle with phone companies for the past two years. Finally, after releasing me from my contract "3" convinced me to go with Vodafone (as they did not have the phone in stock which they had promised me 3 months earlier), not knowing any better i agreed; this was my first mistake.

The first two bills they sent me were incorrect (overcharging me by $90 on both). i called customer "service" on numerous occasions to try and solve the problem but was told that there was nothing that they could do. as i did not pay the incorrect bills my service was promptly disconnected for two days with no explanation.

I live on Sydney's north shore (20 mins from the CBD) and i have NEVER ONCE had full reception in the 5 months that i have been with vodafone now. i consistently have "no service" in my house, and when i am out the reception and connection quality is shameful. Voicemails on average take 4 days to arrive to my account, and the internet connection is slower than the dial up i had in my house ten years ago.

IT IS A JOKE, i think that Lara should start looking for a new job, as Vodafone will not last with this kind of service!!!

15200 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is PRETTY BAD at 4 Feb 2011 10:59:59 AM
So my problem is this: I HAVE to stay with Vodafone whether I like it or not, if I want to be able to stay in contact with my brother who lives in Estonia (northern Europe). Because Vodafone was originally a European company, it's the only Australian provider that has a bilateral agreement with my brother's telco in Estonia. In short, that means that it's the only Australian provider with whom I'm practically guaranteed that my text messages will reach the other end and that I'll receive the responses. I've tested the theory with Teltra, Optus and Virgin and different points over the last ten years and it seems to be true. With all three providers, either my brother didn't receive our texts from Australia, or we didn't receive his, or both. So bottom line for me is, if I want to be able to stay in text contact with my brother on the other side of the world, I HAVE to stay with Vodafail. That kinda sucks a bit.
4 Feb 2011 11:24:57 AM: Get a cheap handset + month to month plan for sms to your brother and get another number for everything else, that way you can have both.

well, for starters i have no reception. Any where i go. Which makes me very angry. Also some of the vodafone stores have very bad customer service. One manager at a store told me she would lie to her regional manager and tell her that the device i am returning actually works. And im not kidding. She is always yelling at customers. And her store are racist, they only talk their language to people other wise they treat u with no respect. Also, she said (exact words) "vodafone doesnt really care about prepaid customers". And another thing is that my bill is telling me i have spent $210 over, which i havnt. Gosh!!! Please let me know if u have any of these issues. Take care every one.

15188 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 3 Feb 2011 07:35:56 PM
Poor reception. 1 - 2 bars of 3G when outside and not touching the phone. Make a phone call and it drops out. Use data service to download and it takes forever then fails, I end up having to wait till I get home and my phone links up to wifi for it to complete.

So 4 emails later I was advised that for phone calls I need to switch my mobile to 2G and when I want to use data switch my phone to 3G, then switch it back to 2G when done.

The coverage map shows that I am covered by their service - but looking at my reception I'm barely receiving reception at all. I was told by their customer service person that they are doing nextwork upgrades in my area - the nearest upgrade is 10km away.

All contact now with vodafone is promises that someone will contact me later... worst service ever.

Ive been a customer for over 10 years and have just calculated that i have spent in total over $50,000 with Vodafail. My most recent bill was $1200 as they make a packet from my on global roaming charges - atleast that is what i thought until i realised its all the recalls i do from the signal dropping out. The coverage is absolutely woeful and is getting worse. The customer service people seem to be in denial but yet friends who have Optus or Telstra have full coverage in areas where I have none - almost anywhere on the pittwater, atlease 3 spots between the upper north shore and north sydney, in the southern highlands etc etc. Vodafone - you have done nothing to reward my loyalty and your inadequate network is causing me and everyone I speak to frustration. Time for a change...........

15153 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Billing prodata when migrating 3 customers at 3 Feb 2011 08:19:10 AM
I recently migrated to Vodafone (which I should not have but too late).
I was connected with 3 and migrated to Vodafone 3 days prior to the end of my billing cycle. Now Vodafone is billing me for that 3 days of use when 3 charged me full for the said billing cycle. Vodafone CSR says, they don't care about 3 customers and its billing. And I thought they own 3 and should be responsible for this whole migration process.

During the migration process, the Vodafone guy said it will be seamless, it will be just a transfer of contract! AHA again.... Total lie to customers. Shouldn't they be liable with their statements. It was an $20 extra charges for me. Now if they do this for all 3 customer migrated customers, imagine how much extra money they are getting considering that they own 3 anyway and is also charging on that side. ACCC should look at this.

Last week I could not make a single call to anyone. I constantly had "searching" on my phone. I had enough so I rang Vodafone on their head office number (94157999) and explained my dilemma. After arguing my point for almost an hour they agreed to reduce my plan from $79 to $65 and to give me free service for 3 months. I was told that it would take between 1 and 3 months to fix their service. If they havent fixed it by 3 months I will be cancelling my contract and returning my phone.
To all you disgruntled people, call head office and argue as I did.
Thanx for nothing vodafone.

15136 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hugely at 2 Feb 2011 08:00:46 PM
I have spent MANY hours in the past month trying to get an answer about my issue of NO SERVICE on my vodafone iphone since relocating. I was given a 100% guarantee that I would have full service in my new home so I renewed my contract in June 2010. When I arrived here I had one bar or none but persevered, thinking once I move again into our newly built home I should be right as I had given them my exact address and they assured me I would have full coverage. When I moved in here in Dec 2010, I ended up having NO SERVICE 24/7. Jan 2011, I decided enough was enough and after reading all the stories on here and reading through the class action advice . I made the first call and was on hold for an hour. I left a msg for them to call me back..they called me back and I didn't speak to anyone til I came off hold after another hour, and THEY HAD CALLED ME! After approx 8-10 hours during the last month of being handballed to one call centre person to another, I finally demanded to speak to the retention manager tonight where he told me that he did not believe I had no service and they would not help me in anyway. If I wanted out I'd have to pay $1200 in early exit fees.Needless to say, I was livid. I asked how a call centre staff member could deem me a "liar" about my service accessibility from a call centre in India. After an hour of being told that they could do nothing for me (they suggested I try 3 I said what do you think I am, stupid...Vodafone OWN 3 as well) the "retention manager" decided that in good faith they'd waiver the cancellation fee but I'd have to pay $245 for my handset.

I am soooo angry and frustrated and feel totally ripped off. Can anyone else advise from their own experience if I should accept the offer and just pay the $245 and be done with it, or keep up the frustrating effort of calling the customer service centre and get out of contract with no penalty at all. I have lodged a complaint with the Ombudsmen .If you have had a similiar experience and have some advice for me could you email me at (Personal Details removed)

Thanks for the advice

After 2 weeks of them ringing me when im at frigging work everyday. why do they ring during work hours for fucks sake. they could at least ask u what days u have off or what times so they can ring when u will actually answer.
Although it has no info whatsover on how i go about this!!! idiots!
Has anyone got this text/email?
What do i have to do to get out of it?
just go to another telco and port my number?
or do i have to actually do something more with vodafail
2 Feb 2011 05:26:13 PM: When in doubt, port it out ;)

If you have it in writing (or sms text), port away :)

Congratulations.
2 Feb 2011 05:37:18 PM: sweet.
just didnt know if i ported out they would send me bills still and be like u should of done this and this. the email was just as useless as the text.
its taken me literally about 3 months of contacting them over and over again through emails, calls, going in store, facebook page. everything. useless the lot of them!!!
2 Feb 2011 06:42:14 PM: What about the phone???

If you have not purchased it (or the phone has been reduced in price or given to you) you will receive a letter in the post, in the letter are instructions and a return envelope ------------- when you post it back make sure you keep the return receipt in a safe place!!!

Check your Visa/DD for any odd transactions from Vodafone Chatswood at least for a few months afterwards.

Take you, ID, your phone number and account number to the provider of your choice and presto.......get another provider!!

Some caution with porting I have been told it can take between 3 hrs to 5 working days to get done (seems excessive but I am only the messenger!!!).

Good luck and let us know how you get on and whom you go with!!!

15127 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is beyond redemption at 2 Feb 2011 05:17:21 PM
Vodafail's delayed SMS is intentional to optimise the use of voice which create more revenue. Overseas, SMS/text is almost instantaneous and cost is dirt cheap you can even get "free 100 SMS" with minimal recharge without expiration. With today's technology, SMS which is purely digital should be quicker for digital equipment to transfer than voice. My son sent an SMS message to pick him up from the train station. After waiting for an hour assuming his message was received, he decided to come home by himself. Two hours later, I received the message now 3 hours late. A follow up SMS he sent after half an hour waiting was received next morning. Discouraging customers in using SMS brings more revenue by resorting to voice which is charged at a higher rate.

I can't get reception in my home, my sister's place or a hospital that I regularly stay at (I have a medical condition). This has caused so much stress, they are all in highly populated areas, ie, West Pennant Hills, Paraamatta and Vodafone tell me that they don't have any network issues in these areas.

I've been trying to resolve this for the last 6 weeks to no avail. The problem however has been going on for ages but until there was all the stiff in the media about it being the Vodafone networks fault I thought it was just the way all networks were! I'm paying $88 a month for a service I often can't use.

Vodaphone increasingly getting worse in my area, now have to stand in the middle of the street to make a call when at home, just another thing to add to the list of problems.. Contacted the "Customer Care" service to complain, was on hold for 45 min before I got to speak to somebody, after explaining my problems was told that I have very good service coverage in my area. If this is their idea of good coverage I would hate to see it if it was bad. After further discussions with the person, who was obviously not listening to a word I was saying as I was asked the same series of questions on a number of occasions, I became rather infuriated and either my phone cut out on me, again, or I was hung up on. Either way am totally disgusted with the so called service I have been provided.

where do i begin... I have been a VF customer for about 7 years. Started on the smaller plans and gradually made my way to the higher plans with the introduction of iPhone plan. I have had constant problems with my service ever since.. My plan is the $69/month but most of the time i make a few international calls which adds about $20 to my bill which is fine by me. this is constant. Then over the last 4 months my bills have been coming in at $500 for crap that i don't even understand. I try calling VF and i'm put on hold for AT LEAST 45 mins...... then i speak to someone who I can only guess is in India or some other offshore call centre. I explain my disgruntlement and the response is pretty much cryptic. I have no idea what the result is. the last time i complained they credited me $180 and the next bill my plan had increased to $79/month.... without my knowledge. Called again... another bloody 45 - 60 mins on hold... nothing is explained. THATS JUST THE BILLING. then the actual service is disgraceful. My phone indicates full coverage but it's flat as a pancake... nothing. I can't use my data download because i takes a forthnight to open a page, my calls just drop out, i get txt messages from people 4 days later (Within this time someonme could be dying, dead and buried without me knowing) and my GPS tells my i'm in the middle of the ocean??? then when i complain... i'm told it's my handset... i have a whinge to Apple, they replace my handset... the same shite happens again... Class Action here i come.

No network coverage, can't access internet, Today not able to send or recieve any phone call, message or can't check my email. On friday I sent the message to my wife in the day time at 11.00am to buy the medicine for my son and the message was delieverd at 4.30pm when she finish the work and came out of the office. Doctor rang on Friday to my wife to reconfirm the appointment but failed due to no signal. When she finished the work at 5.00pm and came out of the office then she received a message for missed call and she checked the voicemail. Because she couldn't confirm the appointment it created a big mess for us on monday morning when i took day off and went to doctor and they refused to see after a long wait of 3 months. If we are unable to contact to each other in the day time, then what is the use of keeping this stupid or useless phone. I was with 3 network before for last 5 years and i never faced this problem. I want to go back to three but vodafone don't allow this. Even when we call vodafone the waiting time is atleast 60-80 minutes.

15083 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is consistently unrealiable at 1 Feb 2011 08:47:14 PM
I was just on the phone with another voda user, and both of us had full bars, but we were constantly interrupted with no sound, or static. The called with a drop out.

Sigh, voda, I already don't use much of your data services that I pay for, at least give me my phone calls!

15079 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is wireless broadband on contract at 1 Feb 2011 06:55:00 PM
Contacted Vodafone on 26 August 2010 because on average my wireless broadband connection is 5 kilobytes per second, a lot of the time it has 0 bytes per second. I was told to ring Vodafone, tell Lara to connect me to Data Services but when I did
a) there is no option for Data Services
b) I got transferred to someone who spoke bad English and had to shout DATA SERVICES 3 times
c) was put on hold until I had to go back to work as I called during my break.

Honestly, does anyone have any idea how I can get out of this 24-month contract? It feels like I'm giving my hard-earned money for a service I am not getting!!!!

15074 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hugely at 1 Feb 2011 05:41:38 PM
I have been with Voda from day one. In the last 12 months I have noticed a marked drop in area coverage. It can happen happen at any place or any time...I will look at my phone when it lights up, only to see it display 'No Service' on the screen. I'm over it!

Not good enough voda! I pay for this service, yet you aren't keeping up your end of the contract.

15067 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 3G slow, slow, slow at 1 Feb 2011 04:25:33 PM
Well I read everyones input and did it. I did not want to as changing telco's is inconvenient at best, especially when you have been with 1 provider for over 10 years+. But no longer could I put up with almost non-existent 3G coverage at Bankstown Airport, Parramatta and Castle Hill. Rang Vodafone (all politely), investigated, confirmed 'low signal areas', thence no argument exit from contract with 11 months remaining. No penalty. iPhone offer to keep at $386 but no thanks. Rang Telstra. Within 10 minutes was all signed up to Next G. Phones arrive in 48 hours and numbers will be ported. Vodafone graciously gave me 8 days to find a new provider for which I thank them. It ended up being painless but still inconvenient.
1 Feb 2011 06:33:54 PM: Glad it was painless but........yay............!!!

Party time at your place tonight!!!!

Excellent result!!!

2 Feb 2011 07:33:29 AM: No doubt thanks to you, your web site and the advice I have read from all others. Honestly people, bite the bullet and change like I did. I mulled over it for weeks but then just did it instead of wondering 'when' it would be fixed. I stayed polite as advised. Waited patiently for a week to have 'technical' check my data complaint coverage and then low and behold, they admitted the 'issue' without challenge. Did not even have to go to option 2 (TIO). Without being biased, as I respect that 'overseas call taking staff' have to make a living and it's not their fault, it was refreshing to speak to someone at Telstra who lived in Sydney and who knew exactly what I wanted and what to do. Perhaps Vodafone will learn something from this web site and my excercise. Thanks Vodafone for not arguing the point and letting me go. At least I did not part, all be it frustrated, an angry customer.

15061 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 1 Feb 2011 03:01:22 PM
Both me and my wife are with vodafone. The problem is even if you have full bar reception the call still goes to my voicemail, and I will only get the voicemail hours/days later. To compound the problem my wife is a Doctor and when she is on call she is expected to make life decisions. Well guess what is never gets the call, an issue that got her into trouble with the hospital that she is covering. Not to say we live in the bush, we are in metropolitan sydney
1 Feb 2011 04:33:45 PM: I am medical as well. Informed Vodafone of this. After checking my coverage area they agreed that it was 'low'. Allowed contract exit without penalty.

15059 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor & No Reception at 1 Feb 2011 02:42:14 PM
I have recently left Vodafone since their reception has been so bad. I was charged $700 to exit my 24m plan!

This is disgraceful and i will tell you why:

1. I rang them 7 separate times waiting from 7min to 45min without getting in contact with one employee! So i had to leave without being able to complain and since i pay with automatic payments I couldn't even negotiate and now they have my money and I will have to fight to get it back.
2. Their 3G service has been terrible since day one and has become unusable at worst and patchy at best.
3. I can't use their service at home?
4. There are 2 exact cutout points on the way to work!

Terrible service and they need some serious work to get their reputation back in order!

15052 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is To the point of no return at 1 Feb 2011 01:52:16 PM
Since taking out a 24 month contract, I've experienced data drop out issues, emails working one day and not the next, and the horrendous customer support just makes me cringe when I think about the next 18 months until I'm released from the contract. Their customer support is the biggest time wasters! There's no help their support staff can provide that can't be found on their website. Very frustrating for me to have done my homework, tried all else to no avail, wait at least 30 minutes in the process of being passed around the world, then confronted by a poorly English speaking staff who obviously, is doing the same as what I have done, while I wait.

Numerous calls back and forth, hours and days later, ironically due to poor network coverage while I'm complaing about data drop outs, still no resolution. And when I insist on obtaining a call reference number, asked to speak to their supervisor to escalate my issues, (because clearly they are just wasting my time), to my infuriation, I got hung up on!!!

I am prepaid, I have had the service cutting out since nov 25th, my phone keeps cutting out saying 'connection error', people have been trying to call me and my phone has reception yet the caller gets the message saying I have my phone off?!?!?! Not good comparing I have a business to run! I am pregnant with mine and my Fiance's second child, it's a complicated pregnancy AND I have an extremely ill family member who I am Next Of Kin for! I spoke to Vodaphone multiple times, keep getting told there is nothing they can do, I have filmed my phone showing that I have waited minimum of 45 minutes each time, what can I do?
