26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9739 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Gold Diggers!! at 1 Jan 2011 11:35:50 AM
My partner and I are in a area that has Vodafone coverage, but the reception we get is shocking and cuts out every 10 Minutes. We now feed off our WiFi Modem provided by Optus. Since I arrived here from New Zealand in December 1999, I started out with Optus and never ever had problems, unitl I switch to Vodafone. Not Good guys!! Fix it!! Or, Merge with Foxtel for some help!!

While I haven't experienced call drop outs - I 'm usually not on a call that long, I do find that some times I have have to charge my phone 3 times a day as it is burning all its battery searching for a data connection. Data comes and goes, and often I cannot make a call until I reboot my phone - and that doesn't always work. I have 4 phones with Vodaphone/3 and they all experience the same issues. In Balmain this has been going one for about a month, and was still going on yesterday - Dont tell me its fixed - It An't

91 minutes on the phone to Vodafone. Spoke to 5 different people. Had to explain my issue to them all. They have put in an investigation in on my behalf that will take 72 hours at least before someone will get back to me. Just the normal pain experienced by most others on this site, call drop outs, having to call someone several times before it actually rings, no service even when it says full 3G, txt messages received late, service going from full 3G to No Service in the same call..............when will it end. All this and the pleasure of paying up to $100 per month.

9729 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is APPALLING at 1 Jan 2011 11:07:02 AM
I recently committed to a 24 month contract with vodafone. Within the first week I experienced numerous dropped calls, no reception for large parts of the day, and very poor data reception. Iam now receiving emails three days after they have been sent. The only way to get the phone working again is to turn off and on, and even then the problems are only temporarily fixed. Iam now in the second month of my plan and iam already considering other option...

9727 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 1 Jan 2011 10:57:30 AM
I consider myself to be a pretty good customer. I am loyal to providers that step up and do right by me. I especially would have a lot of respect for a provider who sucks up their pride and admit when they have stuffed up.

We have here, a company whose present undoing is an unbelievably good sales and marketing team. However it is that team's failure to communicate internally with their infrastructure team is what has really caused this issue for the consumers.

I am at my home in Gladesville, with the standard tiny bar of 3G at my disposal, ( unless I walk to 1 of 3 'hotspots' where I get 2 or if I'm being particularly blessed, 3 bars). As we have just moved in and are waiting for a land line, our mobiles are our only source of communication with family and friends. With my Nanna very unwell in hospital, I am forced to keep my phone placed in one of those hotspot areas regardless of whether it has to sit in the middle of a room on the floor, just so my mother can contact me if there is an emergency.

Is it too much to ask, vodafone, to have a phone that can actually make and receive calls/emails at my leisure and not yours?

An interim fix such as asking Telstra for help and letting vodafone customers failover to the Telstra network when a decent vodafone signal cannot be received, would alleviate your consumers' anger and perhaps you won't lose so many of us after all.

Thoughts?
1 Jan 2011 11:01:37 AM: Tesltra would never allow Vodafone to use their network as they are a major competitor. As it is when the contract between 3 and Telstra run out, Telstra will not be renewing the contract. I don't blame them for that, I mean that is business for you. It comes down to teh network you build in the first place, and Vodafones network is slowly falling apart a it cannot handle the merge of extra customers from 3.

I sign up for a brand spanking new iphone.

Voda tells me great choice no issue whatsoever they were right
"minor reception issue is possible due to redesigned antena"

4 months later i hate vodafone dont get me wrong they have "great coverage everywhere" hmm everywhere but my work, home, friends houses, shopping centres basicly anywhere that i might want to make a call or use mobile internet ( i have plenty of data left at EOM too , why you may ask? Because i can never connect to the damn internet.)

9722 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is about to get a telstra plan to compensate my crappy vodafone plan at 1 Jan 2011 10:21:34 AM
1. Call drop outs
2. poor data reception to point where I give up doing anything, I end up using my friends Telstra data plan for internet stuff
3. 3 months in a row I've recieved a txt saying update email otherwise we will charge you $2.20 for paper bill (which I've done) each time I go back in its gone.
4. known missed calls (some important business related) when I finally get ahold of them, they say we tried calling several times.
5. No wonder the phone is so quiet now, virtually no incoming calls.

I HATE VODAFONE - WISH I NEVER GOT THIS PLAN!!!!!

9720 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disgusted at 1 Jan 2011 10:11:42 AM
Am I the only one with this issue??????????
I send emails via my iphone using vodafone (not wireless). The sent items folder acknowledges emails are sent. I get irate or frustrated emails from customers demanding a reply to their emails but ive already replied!!!!!!!!!!! I ring vodafone and they say, "oh sorry sir, there is an issue with emails generated from vodafone server being rejected by other servers". Why didnt I get notified about this?? Why do they let me send 4 weeks worth of emails before I find out none of them got through.
Has anyone else experienced this?
BTW, in Avalon Sydney yesterday, my reception went from "searching" to full bars on a cycle for 1 hour. No 3G either. It was a joke, I was sitting in 1 place but could not make calls or check internet/emails.
30 Jan 2011 12:05:48 AM: No you are not.

9719 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Voda is dismal - thumb all the way down at 1 Jan 2011 10:09:45 AM
Have been Voda customer for as long as I have had mobile (about 15 years), live in rural NSW but close to capital (ACT), Used to get adequate service until Vode went 3G when service became unreliable, inadequate and frustrating. Given option to end contract (couple of months left) or renew with a new phone that should improve service, I opted to renew, recieved new phone (Experia -10) and service is worse than before. Phone is crap, connection is crap. Also opted for the new wireless network internet connection - this is even worse than the phone service, 3G does not work often, keeps jumping between 3G, 2G and H but will not lock to any so unable to connect often, when it does connection is generally VERY slow (better with the original USB Voda Modem - not 3G). Funny Voda coverage map said I should get connection. Weather really plays a part in both the phone and internet service - any hint of change and I lose all connection. To cap it off I get absolutly no coverage in the township (Yass 2582). My daughter is with OPTUS and has full cover 24/7 in all our local areas. Come on Voda get your act to gether or you will lose another loyal customer (maybe loyalty dosen't mean anything these days and I should cut my loses and jump to another provider).

I am a prepaid customer. In the last 2 months, I have a lot of calls of 1 or 2 seconds generated from my mobile number which I did not made. For every such call 74 cents are deducted from my prepaid account.Yesterday I had 5 such calls charged even when my mobile was not switched on.I called customer service and they denied any problems at their end. I wonder anyone else has similar problems.

been a loyal customer for 15 yrs.. first time there was an outage with no warning in the highlands i had broken down and was unable to call for help. i lost income, and wasted the day.
second time it happened when i rang to find out what was going on the service i recieved was absolute rubbish. the excuse and the call waiting time only to be told "hold on a minute and i'l transfer you to another department..."
quite often i get "no coverage", "network busy", call drop out half way thru a conversation, recieve voicemail messages and texts that were sent hours ago all at once.
not happy one bit and will definently not be renuing my contract with them.

9714 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 1 Jan 2011 09:44:19 AM
Haha to start off with, the service is terrible, I get picture messages and voicemails days late.. And vodafones suggestion, oh it must be the phone.. Call the telephone company ad they will reboot your phone?? So my only option is to have my phone start from scratch an lose everyhig, only for my original problems to remain.. Umm no thanks.. Then I finally saved up the money to upgrade because u was locked in.. I receive my "new phone" and take it home to set it up etc... Only to find that it's not in fact a new phone, but marks phone and he likes 4gb of nitro circus.. On my "new" phone.. So I call vodafone to sort it out, oh I am in India you have to call back at 9am.. Okay so I call back at 9am, they wanted me to bring the phone back to the dealer as proof!!! I had to work and couldn't get there, plus why should I be inconvenienced!! They told me I would have to wait 4 weeks for a replacement phone.. Just not good enough... I received the replacement phone, only to still have the problems of delayed everything, dropping out, horrible reception, and super slow 3G.. Vodafail?

Made a request via email to have my contract cancelled penalty free. First time Vodafail tried to ring it went direct to voicemail; the phone was right next to me with full reception but never rang. Showed as a missed call immediately and the voicemail arrived after several hours. 2nd time they called the phone rang but the call dropped out after a brief discussion. Waiting on attempt number 3 now...
1 Jan 2011 08:56:21 AM: if you know that the voda reception doesn't work why give them your voda number to ring back to solve your issue?

Why not give them another number to ring you on instead of just resting on blame!
3 Jan 2011 02:42:37 PM: After experiencing the difficulty in trying to establish and then maintain a conversation using their own network Vodafone have agreed to release me from contract without penalty.

i have always regarded vodafone highgly and in some cases encouraged people to join into contracts with voda, however in the last 6 months i dont have reception in the most common places, my messages come through so late and my data is so slow. i come out of my cap very soon, however i dont know whether to go back with them. its frustrating and annoying because their deals are good but at the moment i think it will be easier to go with another company.

there is no point having a phone that doesnt have reception which means no calls and no texts.

i think voda should pay out to everyone...and fix their problems!!

9691 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 189% at 1 Jan 2011 01:15:33 AM
I have had the absolute displeasure of dealing with Vodafone 'Customer Service' on 4 occasions in the last 4 months. Every time I approach a Vodafone store with my queries, even after a lengthy wait instore, I am then told they cannot help me and i need to contact ' Customer Service' - which roughly translates to 'If you are not here for me to sell something to, please contact our offshore contact centre'. I upgraded from the iPhone 3 to the iPhone 4, which required a micro-sim. I was instructed to contact 'Customer Care' and activate my new sim. After customer care had done this my call was terminated mid sentence. An hour later my new phone and sim card still were not active. I called back and was told to give in another hour. 24 hours later and still no access to the network. At first i tried to access the ' complaints line' but was cut off 3 times in succession. When I finally spoke to someone, after 45 minutes, i was told that 'someone' hadnt fully activated the account and to wait another '20 minutes'. 8 hours later, i still had no access. Tried again to call the ' complaints' line and again just kept getting cut off. When i finally got to customer service i was told it would be active in 20 minutes and they apologised for the previous mistakes. Why, if it finally took 20 minutes, did it take 3 days for that to happen. And why was i still charged for those 3 days access??? Following this, my phone was stolen. I called Vodafone to report this and have the phone barred. 6 hours later, my phone was still taking voicemail, for which i am charged. (The further charges to the account have only been rectified after many hours again on the ohone to vodafail.) Called again, waited more than an hour, finally spoke to someone and explained that i had my old iphone with the old sim card inside and to reactivate that one. I was told 20 minutes. I called again in 2 hours and was told that everything would be fine after a 30 minute wait. I had network access for 25 minutes before it was cut off. I called again and was told ' this phone has been reported stolen' I tried at great lengths to explain the situation to punjab but he then referred me to another department, who asked me the same security information before transferring back to the same person ( another 20 minutes ). I then again attempted to contact the 'Complaints dept' , was cut off 3 times before i spoke to some one who said, im sorry for that but there is not much i can do, i will talk to the person that made the mistake, but i will have to transfer you to someone else to have t rectified' (another 25 minutes). In the next week the sim card was disconnected 3 times based on the phone being ' stolen ' meaning i lost about 2 hours waiting online and 3 full days of 'access' to the network - for which i was still charged. I then attempted to change my number with vodafone, requesting my contract number be transferred to a pre paid sim and my contract be issued a new number. I made this request at vodafone bondi junction, and was advised again to call ' Customer Service'. I called India and was told no, this needs to be doen in store. Went back to the store, spoke to the same guy that directed me to CS in the first place, who then got his manager who told me that what i spent 4 days trying to do was not actually possible. I was given a new number,, but had to retunr to the store 24 hrs later to have a new sim card issued because after cancelling the number the sim card was cancelled too. I also recently recieved an ' your phone is about to be cut off' sms from vodafone, but no bill to be paid in my email as usual. Again, I called complaints, and waited 38 minutes to be told it was sent. I asked for it to be re-sent and told it would be immedeatley. I still have not recieved a bill. When i Called to advise that the outstanding account, as detailed in the sms i recieved, had been paid via 2 different transactions, i was told ' im sorry sir but the 'system' will only allow me to input one transaction number and amount, so your phone will still be cut off after the weekend and you wil have to call back next week to advise that you have made another payment. I have recently driven from Mackay in far north Qld to Sydney. From Kempsey to Sydney I have driven many time before on the same roads with no problems. I managed to get coverage on less than 10 % of the ' National Highway'. Maybe, next time Vodafail plans an /aquistion' and considers it and 'achievement' to be finally operating off their own network, they should not choose the network with the worst reputation for coverage in australia. A copy of this compaint has been sent to the TIO and i await confirmation of my desire to be released from my contract and never, ever, ever have anything to do with Vodafail and their pack of incompetent 'off shore staff' ever again

9676 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Woeful at 31 Dec 2010 10:18:13 PM
I have two stories:

The first is I am in a service industry as TV technician, the contracts I sign state that if the signal is interrupted for more then a certain percentage I don't get paid. Simple yet far, so I am on a job the other day and it is a international broadcast, and we get an error on one of the primary devices. So we re route and try to fix the equipment. Me and 3 other techs are on vodafone; and it took us over 5 minutes to find a signal spot in the middle of Sydney, next we are on the phone to the service providers of our equipment, it took eight calls just to relay the problem. In the end I ran to a telstra store and bought a $30 handset and prepay credit just to make a phone call. A problem that took 30seconds to fix, took 30 mins just to get a stable call.

The other story was after this, a few complaints to vodafone (a deal in its own right) and I was able to unlock my handset. So I am installing some equipment on top of a hospital and this hospital has phone and microwave repeaters on it. So hear I am within 5m of the vodafone repeater. And my phone says that it has 0 reception. None I could of walked over and kick the bloody thing (I didn't, I like my freedom) So out comes my wallet in there I keep a telstra sim. I put it in my phone and in seconds I have full reception. The funniest thing is there is no Teletra repeater at that location.

All I want is the same penalties for them as they give to us, we don't pay they cut the service and send out debt collectors. They fail to provide a stable phone link and we don't get a reduction in price. And at the same time they are increasing the load on their already crippled system y having infinite plans and larger data bundles.

1.My online ordered phone has no IME Number to unlock. it takes more than 2 month to have my IME number upadated to website so that i can unlock. Then the unlocking code was WRONG. Then vodafone denies to unblock and unlock my phone at first. After so many times ringing and wating i finally got my phone posted to unlock. and my phone is not yet back to me till now.
2.My online order was deducted 5 dollars off a month and first 3 month free that vodafone still charge me the full price without noticing me. I found out myself then solved with many phone call and long waiting.
3.Every time I ring vodaphone customer care it takes minimum 45min to 2 hours waiting. and the stuff was really not helpful after long time waiting.
4.The stuff promised me to take to dealer shop then solved back but then I still have to go to the dealer shop explain all situation again, and then the shop assistant ring up customer care there was no notes put on.which means what they promised the day before just disapear and i have to go over everything again.

overall, i am very dissapointed,if i have time, energy and money, and willingness, i wish to sue that for all my time and money.very very unhappy. we wish vodafone to be good. and i hope that would be changed in the future.

Waiting at a store for 45min waiting to upgarde / renew one of my phones and then being told that they are out of phones and being sent to another store. When I arrived at the next store and after another 50min wait to find out they have a 10 phones I wanted in store but wait... Oh sorry you are a loyal customer with more that one phone. We cannot upgrade / renew your contract in store that has to be done on the phone with vodafone.

After hours on the phone and many different people the outcome is that I need to find another carrier. All they wanted is to flogg me a phone that I did not want. Oh if you want to complain just send a email via the website. Fanstastic service NOT.

To force its customers to ring overseas when they cannot txt? Ohh the money will roll in for vodafone increasing their profits now. Until everyone rips up their contracts and leave. Yes vodafone you cant treat us like that, this will bite you in the backside, the last one out pls turn off the lights!

9648 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic ROFL FAIL at 31 Dec 2010 06:37:33 PM
I called cx care to get more data on my cap plan. The guy on the other end had to confirm my details 3 times (wont go into what race or what dialect he was speaking in). I asked for an extra gig of data on my number. He happily agreed and said "all done". I asked him how much does it cost me a month? He pauses "Give me 2mins and puts me on hold." After 10mins the line got hang up... I called back 30mins later. Another guy asked me for my details, i provided it again. He says its incorrect, I repeat it, then he says "okay its right now". (this made me nervous... I asked for a confirmation of what i just said to him, he repeats the same details only expect now the address is completely wrong and im now sumone from a different state!???? I told him thats not right, (he gets angry), asks me "Are you a authorised person on the account?" I replied with my details again! "Thats fine you data pack has been added" I asked him to change my address back to the correct details and he obliges.

Following month I get sent my bill with my number on it but in someone elses name. I was charged for a brand new phone which i do no have on a new plan that had resulted in a cancelllation fee of my old contract.
I call them again...
"Can i get your name please?" I answer with my details again. "Thats incorrect" He hangs up! I call back this time a girl answered i repeated the same process and finally tried to explain my situation. She says i had made the changes on the account but i asked her about the incorrect billing name, she didnt have an answer, I told her i dont have a new phone she transfers me to the manager. I repeat story, he laughs... I asked him whats soo funny? He says nothin and told me i will be credited for the mistake on my next bill.
3rd month, I didnt get credited...

ALL I WANTED WAS 1GIG OF DATA ON MY PLAN!!!

Dunno if i should cry or call them up and let them laugh at me. Maybe i'l laugh with them this time.
31 Dec 2010 06:48:04 PM: if you cant beat them - join them i say
31 Dec 2010 06:50:54 PM: you must be the guy i spoke to over the phone then?

Just like everyone else. Poor service, delayed text messages, delayed voicemail messages, cotinuing dropping out calls, can't even connect calls most of the time. I live in Cronulla, Sydney. Vodafone is no help, they come up with the same story about upgrading the towers that they've been using for the past 12 months. I want out of my contract with Vodafone.

I'm not actually in a mess as I cancelled my contract and went with Telstra instead. My situation was simple, I was out of contract and wanted an iPhone4. Vodafone couldn't give me one as they were out of stock (fair enough these things happen), but what pissed me off in the extreme was that no-one there could help me at all. No-one in the store could put me on a wait list either officially (we don't have a list) or unofficially ("Mate here's my number just give me a call when they come in" - "Sorry its more than my jobs worth to do that"). They directed me to the customer help line (an oxymoron with Vodafone), but someone gave me a tip to just say "complaint" to every question which reduces your normal 60 minute wait to 20 minutes. However when getting through to a human he helpfully said I'd called the wrong number and gave me the iPhone4 line to call. I blew up and said I was going to cancel my plan and go with anyone else other than Vodafone (I'd been with Vodafone for 8 years). He said he'd dial the number for me and patch me through when I reached the front of the queue "sometime in the next 2 hours" he said. I never heard from him again and went with Telstra via the Apple Store. Your really don't deserve to be in business when you have established customers wanting to renew their contracts and the folk in the stores and on the helplines are not even empowered to take their money- pathetic

9626 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VERY VODAFAIL at 31 Dec 2010 05:19:18 PM
I ordered a prepaid starter pack for $49 off their website on the 18th November 2010. It is now the 31st December and i still do not have it! First they only sent me the sim card (wrong one by the way!) after 3 hours on the phone and being transferred no less than 5 times, I was told that the USM stick was on its way and that they don't send them together! - strange, as on the 10th June i ordered the same thing for a friend, which arrived in 2 days complete.. After another week i called vodafone... another 2 hours being transferred again about 4 or 5 times, i demanded that i speak to a supervisor who said that the order is complete due to them sending out the sim card. He said that he would "follow up" and get back to me in 48 hours - nothing as predicted. Another week and calling again... This time i was sent a pocket wifi (Still incorrect card from first delivery - with no resupply of correct one). I don't have wifi on my computer.... Another call, 2 hours later, same thing... its in the post allow 72 hours for delivery... nothing... Yet another call (very angry), Supervisor said give him 48 hours to look into it... I said no. Do it now, i will hold (as i have been already on the phone an hour anyway). 20 minutes and supervisor returns saying he will personally handle it and assures me that it has been sent this time (the original $49 prepaid starter pack) - please allow 3 days for delivery... I am sure i will be calling again!!!

9620 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremely at 31 Dec 2010 04:44:08 PM
I am sick and tired of having no network and no internet.
my service is dropped regularly and in particular I have not had an internet service on my phone for days now.
did not matter whether in sydney or up on the central coast where I live.
I am sick of ringing them only to be talking to someone in a foreign country who is unable to help properly as they have a very limited understanding of what they are doing.
I want something done about the call centers in foreign countries that all the big businesses are using now.(they are all cheating us now)
I want it to be illegal to give our jobs to foreign countries.
Its not right to do that to Australians needing jobs and its not right to force australians to deal with people who cant be understood.
this is not right and I believe it is providing us with VERY POOR service.
I believe these companies to be making the complaint process as difficult as possible so people just give up.
I suggest people also look at ways of making the government outlaw these call centers.
I have had so many calls end in total frustration after talking with people who are in India or the Philippines that are unable to handle 99% of our problems.
If the answer is not on the screen in front of them they give you an answer to a question you never asked.
31 Dec 2010 04:56:21 PM: Unfortunately its not an australian business so they can conduct their customer service where ever they please, and mumbai is cheap labour so why not. I completely agree, i think all businesses operating in australia should have local customer support. so far no one i have spoken to knows about consumer affairs or the trade laws in australia and i am being ill treated and misinformed because of it.

I've been a vodafone customer for over 5 years, I moved to Darwin in 2005, and started to have drop outs, delayed messages, and most irritating no signal. I was only 1km from the airport, but lucky to get one bar signal strengh. I thought it was my phone, but no, on changing with a new contract & new phone things only became worse.
I have recently moved to moama southern NSW and am only 6.5km from the towns towers, but find that signal strength is only 1 bar, ocasionally if lucky 2 bar. I'm looking for work, and finding it frustraiting not being able to rely on mobile, and having to rely on the home phone. my current contract runs out in May 2011 & unless things improve dramatically, I will be changing suppliers.

I have been a Vodafone customer for a while now for the simple fact that I liked there cap plans, but as a single mother with 5 young children, I like to travel away, but it's quite stressful not always having reception incase something happens, my battery life decreases rapidly trying to get reception, not only out of town but in town too, calls drop out, msgs aren't sent, then they get sent twice or three times and each time are at cost to me. Each time I ring for customer service I'm given the run around and transferred to many different operators, who then have to transfer me back and forth again, And that's after I have been on hold for a good 20 mins or more, my calls are sometimes disconnected from them for no apparent reason, they ask you to leave your number for them to ring back in a set amount of time and they don't always contact me, it recently took me 4 days to have my plan changed and now I have been told I have to pay for the my normal plan as it had already started and then my new plan I'm now on. Which I had made the phone call before my old plan was set to run out.. alot of the times I text to get an updated balance to keep an eye on my credit, I'm sent back a msg stating the service is currently unavailable and sometimes I have exceeded my limit due to not knowing the available amount left. My sessions for Internet is timmed out and unable to load due to loss of reception. Msgs that have been sent to me can take up 12 hrs to reach me, some phone calls aren't coming through which are very important.

I sent a lot of sms lately to wish family and friends Merry Christmas and today for Happy New Year. Some sms never arrived!
When you want to check how much value left in your account on Vodafone's website at the last day of the month like today, it does not allow you to do that showing error message! Two months in a row, how could that be? Is Vodafone purposely trying to confused its customers in order to make us spend beyond our monthly limit? I think so! Vodafone is a big liar and full of scams!

Big mistake! the data packets don't load most of the time for the internet, I contacted Vodafone and got a "Well we don't grantee the speed on the connection"
And they said there is nothing they can do about it.
Contacted complaints and got a ticket to wait in line (as ya do) to be told "you will have to go back to the Data centre and speak to them"
Went back and same again with a 'Couldn't care less' attitude

If I wanted dial up speed I could get it for $15 a month.

I changed my mobiles (5 mobiles used for my transport business) to Vodafone about August 2010. I was advised by a Vodafone broker that I would save money & that they had the exact same coverage & usage as Telstra. So what do I have now in comparison to Telstra: very poor coverage, constantly drops out when using mobile, voicemail not coming through unitl next day at times, no personal service just constantly brushed off to somebody else. I run my transport business from my truck most of the time, hence the need for good mobile service & I am constantly appolagising to my clients for not getting back to them straight away when I don't recieve their calls or notification of their calls up to a day later. I never had this problem with Telstra, yes I paid alot more with Telstra & am happily going back to Telstra just as soon as I can get out of Vodafones contracts. I wish Vodafone would just wear the fact that they misrepresent their product & make good with customers demands. Vodafone stop telling me you are fixing the problem and working on/expanding your network as you told me it was already their/working.

9553 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is billing, coverage, customer service ect!! at 31 Dec 2010 12:51:55 PM
I'm currently on vodafone's $99 cap. I have been with then since the old analog days and in the last 3 years i'm ready to have a sense of humor failure!! The coverage problems seem to happen whenever you step out of the sydney basin anywhere up or down the east coast and also massivly inland, a 3hour blackspot between yass and griffith is not ideal in anyones books!! The data download on the iphone is appaling any slower and i fear my phone may lapse into a coma!! and thats when i actually have 3g coverage. the sutherland area seems to be the worst for coverage in my opinion.
Now for the customer service. I have no problems with other cultures however you can not solve my problem if you do not understand my question!!! i would love to have my problem solved within the first 5 minutes of the phone call however currently it takes five minutes for the operator in India to get my name correct!! I spend in excess of $1600 a year with vodafone, and they are just about to lose that now and if that seems like only a drop in the ocean will consider 5000 people pulling up stumps too woops vodafone now it's more like $8 million. all i want is good service that i pay for i know things happen in big networks and thats ok but 3 years of crap and lost income is too much!!
31 Dec 2010 01:04:09 PM: just thought i'd add a calculation from my last reply if the 9230 people currently on this site....say averaged a $60 bill per month (yes i understand its probably a lot more) if we all left vodafone in one month would lose $553,800 and over just one year $6,645,600!!! take note vodafone the people are speaking!

31 Dec 2010 02:46:16 PM: from wikipedia - "with around 332 million proportionate subscribers as of 30 September 2010."

here i used 80 bucks a month with the 332 million people. not obviously not the exact figure; but we'll work out a rough guess..

$318,720,000,000

i'm sure they could use some of that to fix this.

then again, it is vodafone. they're not that smart.

Call Vodafone to activate (with Lara) to be advised at the beginning of the call that the activation process could take up to 2 hours to get onto the network. At the end of the call the message says it could take up to 12 hours.

32 hours later, still no network coverage. Call "Lara" from the phone with the "to be activated" sim card, to be told by a recorded message "We have your details, and activation should occur shortly.

Call "Lara" from another phone, and get to talk with a real person in Mumbai, who activates the phone wile we are on hold. Why has it taken so long ? We're told there was a system outage, and "only a few numbers" had been effected.

I wonder how many Vodafail classify as "only a few".

I live in Warriewood, My wife sent SMS from her 3 network and arrived to my Vodafone mobile phone 2 days later !!! Even the 3G signal is only 3 as we live at Warriewood Valley, where the Vodafone antenna is on top of hill ! We cannot use video call in Warriewood sometimes so we have to go to nearest network antenna to get video calls.

2 bars of service, not even 3G
lag with the internet
call drop outs

the same problems the other 9200 people have posted

they say they're doing something about it; we understand that it takes time, but how long do we need to wait?

i (and probably these other 9200 people) am going to cancel my contract and go to someone that actually has a decent network.
2 Jan 2011 07:18:38 AM: you and the other 9200 just dont get it do you?
Its as simple as taking out the sim and re insert.
That simple, staight forward process replaces the need for capital expenditure on infrastructure, re employing the engineers who actually kept the network going and good old customer service

4 Jan 2011 07:34:55 PM: What a load of crap. Taking out the sim and re-inserting is not going to fix the problem (will only if it is not inserted correctly to start with. I have taken my sim out and re-inserted several times today due to switching between mobile, has made no change whatsoever, I still have ok 2g reception but useless 3g...

I Prepaid with three for a few years and now 3 has been taken over by Voda, i've had some severe reception issues, no net or data capabilities and have even had one recharge not go through. Tried talking to call centres and have recieved little or no help. Not happy Vodafone!!!!
31 Dec 2010 12:07:13 PM: and to add some more, dropping out in the middle of sydney harbour!!!! rang help, told them issue and got reply of you are out on the water!!! I tried to explain that 1 km in front of me was double bay less than a km behind me is Kirribilli and the Syd harb bridge is not very far away. Are the call centre staff geographically challenged?
31 Dec 2010 04:39:39 PM: Are you common sense challenged? I live in Brisbane and I don't know what the fuck you are talking about, not everyone lives in your part of the country and knows what you are talking about you clown.

I've had problems since March and have reported it at least four times. Call drop outs but call connect problems also. Most days i give up trying to call the 1555 number. Tried to exit contract early today, but they say i have to go through a 'proper' trouble shooting process. Why didnt they just tell me the truth months ago instead of 'it will be fixed soon' SOON?? now i am to wait another five days for them to tell me what i already know. Enough.

9520 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Alright, according to an employee on ProductReview at 31 Dec 2010 11:32:26 AM
This is a verbatim copy of a 5 star review of Vodafone from an apparent employee on http://www.productreview.com.au/showitem.php?item_id=35012

Begin quote:

"Overall: I am tired of reading all these reviews and them just constantly saying, "the service with vodafone is crap" The merge between 3 and Vodafone has affected the 3G network immensely. Vodafone are aware of this situation they are trying to improve it by putting up more towers and in the next 18 months looking at introducing a 4G network. With the storms occuring this summer it has become very difficult to fix the network. It's not as if Vodafone are turning a blind eye to the issues all the customers are facing. Vodafone knows the service is constantly dropping out. It mainly effects the touch screen smartphones, eg. Iphone, N8 & HTC's. The issues happening with Vodafone is the network not the customer service itself. With the network being down there is a high demand on phone calls to the customer care team, who are situated in mumbai, so yes the people who answer the phones are of indian relation. They try very hard to help find a solution to each individual customers enquires, but you have to understand that just as much as we have trouble understanding them, they also have trouble understanding us and our accents. So being racist and carrying on saying that you are getting frustrated with the team is just childish. They wont have all the answers and until we recieve information from Vodadone Head Office themselves we don't have much information that we can forward on to our customers. WE KNOW THAT CALLS ARE DROPPING OUT. WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE HIGH DEMAND ON PHONE CALLS TO THE CUSTOMER CARE TEAM. WE ARE TRYING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ITS THE NETWORK ITSELF NOT THE SERVICE YOU RECIEVE FROM A MEMBER OF VODAFONE."

End Quote:
It appears highly likely that Vodafone management are fully aware that they cannot provide the service they contracted, yet still they are advertising furiously, and signing gullible customers to a failed service. This is tantamount to fraud.

Adam, coud you please pass on the above link to your new media mates; they might like to pick up on the 'poor Vodafone support staff' angle, given the shortage of other 'news'.
31 Dec 2010 11:38:47 AM: "but you have to understand that just as much as we have trouble understanding them, they also have trouble understanding us and our accents." THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN IF THE CALL CENTRES WERE IN AUSTRALIA
31 Dec 2010 12:39:12 PM: I wouldn't care where they were if you could at least get throught to a human being to talk to!!! I don't want to hang on for 2 hours and have their silly call back service late into the evening after giving up. Optus answers within a few minutes. I have changed to their internet service, given up on the USB stick - hopeless.
31 Dec 2010 02:26:35 PM: Thanks for that, we have been contacted by some vodafone staff who are suffering as well. I'll pass it on. - Adam

9512 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pretty Bad at 31 Dec 2010 11:12:36 AM
We are a small business (two users) who signed up to a Blackberry 49 Business plan in early December 2010. Since we ported our numbers from our former carrier we are unable to get any 3G coverage. I was on the phone for approximately 20 minutes when I seemed to have got through the line cut off. (Coverage issues). We work and live in the North Sydney area. I called up again and have been on the line for 45 minutes now and have heard the following message"hang in there we will be with you pretty soon" over and over again. I suppose I will see what response I get first from Vodafone before I visit the ACCC website or the class action law firm. I am worried reading the posts that this is the beginning of my "suffering" as a result of joining Vodafone.

Fair play Adam Brimo, I started something similar to you about 2 years ago after I got so pissed off with Vodafone I bought www.vodafoneaustralia.com.au - presumably forgot to renew their domain name!

I posted my own horror stories up there for all to see and eventually got a phone call from their lawyers so I gave it back to them.
http://web.archive.org/web/20080630060319/http://vodafoneaustralia.com.au/

Nice one.
Douggie.
31 Dec 2010 11:06:53 AM: You gave it back to them? You could have made a killing with that domain name!

31 Dec 2010 11:29:21 AM: The proof is in the link above.

9504 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very fail at 31 Dec 2010 10:44:20 AM
I haven't really had reception in my house for quite a while. My messgaes are taking anywhere between 2-13hrs to be received and I have to drive 5 mins or more from home before they come through.
Charlestown Square has a new section opened up and the reception is piss poor. You go and talk to their customer service about it and get told it's being looked at. Every other person who is in the same part of the shop has reception why can't Vodafone? he funny thing is they have 2 stores in Charlestown square and they don't care.
The customer service side is also poor, phoning them is a joke. I rang them the other night and was on the phone on hold for over 70mins each time and ended up hanging up as I got no one. I rang back the next morning only to get straight through this time and it was an Indian call centre (I think). He was helpful, but I don't think he understood my problem.
My new Nokia N8 is another problem. This seems to be too much hard work for them and they don't know anything about this phone either. The girl told me to take the battery out of my phone (when I need a special torque screwdriver to do this) before I sent my phone to them for repair. Look up about phones which you are selling. They had no idea with this phone before and after it came out. I seem to know more than what you do!

9502 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Big Fat Fail at 31 Dec 2010 10:43:09 AM
My pain is probably not as big as others. Currently I need to talk a lot to Vodafone as I just migrated to Voda from 3 (I live in Meadowbank, and here being on Voda is way better than being on 3 - due to almost no reception for 3 - unable to use mobile internet, as its always on roaming).
Every time I call Voda to sort out any issues, I get to a rep only after hours of wait, and numerous disconnections. Just yesterday, I spent my entire day dealing with them. Half of my holidays have gone dealing with Voda, and this is not how I imagined my holidays. Although, my issues are not major, just to get the small work done from them is taking ages. I imagine, my issues hv almost been sorted out. I hope to be a happy customer of Voda (But being on Vodafail and going through all the problems ppl are having, I sound a bit overoptimistic). May god bless us all!!!
Cheers...
Reddy
2 Jan 2011 08:40:41 AM: Oh wow... pretty much straight away after I posted the above, I started having issues. I closed a $45 Month to Month plan with Voda as I migrated my 3 plan to $45 0 Mnth on Voda. What it turns out that 3 upgrade team put me on $45 12Mth contract as they couldnt put me on 0Mth from their system. I had to go back forth between them for hours to sort this issue, and I hope it's been sorted out, but I hv been told that I wont see any changes yet as these are taking time to propagate through all their systems.
My migration was done on 31st Dec, and with that I got a bigger and more immediate problem, that I got only 500MB of data, instead of 1GB. Moreover my internet usage is being charged and not being taken off from my data allowance(Cust support told me). This was not the case with my non-migrated plan $45 0 Mth that I had with Voda before 31st Dec. And I hv been using my internet exactly the same way as b4. Whats more concerning is that, right now i'm using my internet blindly, without knowing wuts happening with my data allowance or if i'm being charged more, cuz their Account Balance via Text and MyVodafone features are not working properly.

9501 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the Worst ever at 31 Dec 2010 10:40:34 AM
I had six months of no reception at Balamin NSW 2041. I tried over many months to resolve this problem with no success. I spent hours on the phone and sent countless emails with no resolution. Finally, I contacted the Telecommunications ombudsmen. Five days later I was contacted by vodaphone saying that I was released from my contract but there was to be no compensation for the six months of charges paid by me for no service provided by them. A few days later I received a leter threatening to charge me over $1ooo dollars if I did not return the phone. They included a plastic express post satchel but no address etc. I then had to spend more of time finding out where to send it. Why am I not surprised.

Recently connected in Newcastle for use in both Newy and Tathra on the south coast. Before connecting, I reviewed Vodafones coverage maps which showed top coverage for both locations. I have since found this to be untrue and cannot use the mobile in either loction on most occaisions. This provider should be dealt with by the regulators.
