26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

20242 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very bad at 7 Dec 2011 09:10:14 AM
This morning, I spent 70 minutes on the phone with Vodafail to cancel a service. In the end, I was told I had to go to a store to have it finally cancelled. I can't believe it took 70 minutes, and the service still could not be completely cancelled.

The matter was relatively simple, but I was constantly put on hold, the guy spoke to me for about two mintues, then put me on hold for 10 minutes, then did this again, again and again.

I ordered in Ipad 2 online and was immediately charged for it. 5 days later sent emails that went unanswered rang them up and they couldn't even find my order in the system. I sent an email to a different address still no answer. Finally I made a comment on twitter and with in 20 minutes had some one emailing with me. That girl solved the issues and said I should receive my order in 3 days.

3 days later I finally got a reply from two one of my first emails that stated she had now found my order and could process it if i gave her some personal info. I immediately asked for a refund but have not yet received it

20236 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is fragmented at 6 Dec 2011 02:14:44 PM
I have a blackberry 9780 and randomly this morning the sim said it it was having a read error. I went into Vodafail store and as I was waiting for 30mins just to get service...a flood of people started coming in with the same error on their blackberries. The Vodafail staff member got onto 1 retail support person who had no idea what was going on. Then 5 mins later he got onto another guy who said an issue had been identified but no solutions yet. THAT WAS AT 10AM. Weve tried new sim cards and still nothing

I'm a business person on a business plan and cant get onto anyone in Australia to speak to about this. I tried calling customer service ( got stuffed around by Lara voice automated menu and her inability to recognise the words "business support") and finally got to the blackberry technical handest team.....when finally a pre-recorded message came through saying that Vodafail had recognized their was a service issue with blackberry's and they were working to solve it. Its now 4.15pm AND STILL NO SOLUTION!!!!!!!! I'm on the phone now holding while the multiple arms of this business keep transfering me, asking me to turn my phone on and off.......and then putting me on hold. I CANNOT RUN A BUSINESS ON VODAFONE WITH THIS KIND OF SUPPORT. I've lost $1000's of dollars today being unreachable with a phone that doesnt work.
6 Dec 2011 03:31:40 PM: Terrible! Sounds like it might be time to invest in a better provider. If they stuff you around anymore then you can go to the TIO and seek compensation from Vodafone. Details are on the 'how to complain' page.

20234 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is THE WORST EVER at 6 Dec 2011 01:39:31 PM
I have a new iphone 4S and it stopped working only after a month of use.
I reported it to Voda who directed me to Apple. Apple confirmed it was DOA and offered me a refurbished handset but advised that I was entitled to a new one under the 1 yr warranty. The Vodafone store at 333 George Street, Sydney was where I got the phone so I went there and have never been subject to such stupidity, unprofessionalism and abuse. I asked them to call their team to confirm their authorisation for me to get a new phone which was verbally authorised over the phone at the Apple store but they said "you call them because you're the customer. They called me a bitch as I was walking out after complaining of the non-existing customer service.
8 Dec 2011 02:57:46 PM: write to the store manager - that is completely unacceptable. Don't say you can't be bothered because that's how bad staff get away with it.

Hi people,

I was still able to sent a text in the morning says about 815am.
The network suddenly decided to die on me. Unable to make phone calls or internet connection.... only able to connect to wifi (the smart phone did it- not VODA!!!!)

Rang the customer service, was put on hold for at least 30 min!!! and the customer service lady was not able to tell you what was wrong with the network...

But on the nsw service - they says no outrage!!! which is bullshit!!!

Moved over from 3 where I was a happy business customer. I have never had so many call drop outs, failed calls and sparadic service access. I spoke with a customer service person who asked me to provide examples of three drop outs and they will investigate it. Surely the likes of Voda can do some simple analysis between drop out rates, coverage and call issues between 3 and Voda to work out just how utterly incompetent they are. Why the push from the three network to Voda? Should be the other way around in my opinion. I am always on the road and rely on my mobile services. VODA is just hopeless and all the BS from customer service about spending $1.4bn on upgrades is nothing more than spin as I cannot believe they could have been actually worse. EPIC FAIL VODAFONE!! Oh, customer service offered me a reduced plan for three months. Not looking for compensation, just want them to fix their daft network. The bloke in India hung up on me.

Constant dropouts, waiting 15 to 20 seconds for a phone call to connect, phone calls not even connecting, and today all of a sudden there is no network coverage at all. I was surfing smh.com.au and then my bars just up and disappeared and have not come back. Tried many troubleshooting steps including the good ol' power cycle but atlas still no magical bars. It is not a fault in the handset because my wifes optus sim works in it fine.

Thank you Vodafone for your slow broadband, dropouts and a crappy network.

20210 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail! at 5 Dec 2011 03:53:59 PM
When my credit expired this morning, I got 33 text messages from VF withing 5 minutes telling me I have insufficient funds. It made my phone lag. And now I an't recharge due to technical difficulties since midday.
Plus I get the occasional SMS message a few hours late and MMS a few days late or not at all :/ Not Happy.
5 Dec 2011 05:30:38 PM: My credit expired yesterday morning and I spent 50 bucks on a recharge voucher only to find their recharge system was stuffed.

I got through to the Indian call centre around 10 pm last night and they couldn't do anything useful apart from offering me $25 extra call credit per month for 3 months (pigs will fly!) if it ever happens.

Today @ 5.33pm I received a text from VFone stating "the Vodafone Recharge Service has been fully restored. We aplogise for any disruption you may have experienced""

After taking a few sedatives previously,I made 4 calls to make sure it was working...Guess What? ... ZERO ..ZIP ..NADA..NOTHING!!!Talk about misinformation.. this crap service is still down and the sedatives are not working...Steam is coming out of my ears and I will be breathing fireas soon as I can get through to this Morally corrupt/highly misleading management ..Is it too hard to make a public statement ..they have my money and I have Zip..Zero ..the only thing I have got from all this is loss of business and Extreme Blood pressure.

My concern is recent reports "Carriers" are using "Carrier IQ" software pre installed on Android devices particularly those from HTC to extract personal usage including "Key Strokes" without the users permission. Ref: gsmarena.com 4th Dec, 2011. Vodafone deny such action but to be sure will get my phone tested by a professional if they are lying and in fact Vodafone Australia are using "Carrier IQ" to extract data for and on behalf of advertising industry I assure you hell will play and will make sure every Radio, TV and Newspaper will know about it, and what if carriers can use the software to extract information what if criminals or News of the World get hold of the software.

20183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unlocking iphone at 4 Dec 2011 08:25:47 AM
I have tried for almost 2 weeks to unlock my iphone. When i called them they said I had to do it on-line at http://www.vodaphone.com.au/unlock the links do not work. this is the final straw in several years of being with this appalling business. All I want is to leave their network and even now they fail me.
4 Dec 2011 08:56:08 AM: The link provided does not work for me either!

When you do leave ensure you cancel your contract, it does mean the pain of 1555 again but make sure you get the CSR id, name, incident number, date and time and that all direct debits have been cancelled.

Contracts do not automatically expire on the anniversary date, they continue until you notify VF the contract has now ceased.

Check your bank balance to ensure VF have cancelled the direct debit as VF have, in the past, not cancelled.

Am in Rosebery (NSW) a suburb 7kms from the CBD. Zero coverage today however the Vodafone website says that there are no network issues! 6 March 2012 - contract expires and I'm off to Telstra.
4 Dec 2011 08:59:46 AM: Why wait until March?

Check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page, contact the TIO, complete their on line form and be away from VF before Xmas, then move to a provider of your choice.

If you do decide to wait until March ensure you cancel your contract, it does mean the pain of 1555 again but make sure you get the CSR id, name, incident number, date and time and that all direct debits have been cancelled.

20181 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail? at 4 Dec 2011 07:17:14 AM
I posted a little while back about having three or four days with contasnt call drop outs and delayed texts/multimedia messages and really really slow internet.

It has now been four weeks. Of the same thing.

Still no improvement.

Every time I make a call I either get "beep beep" and no connection at all, OR I get "Hi ..... " and it drops out straight away. I'm apparantly still not receiving half of the text messages people send and when others try and call my phone when it is switched on and apparantly has full range (I've tried this from my home phone too - to test) and it goes straight to "This person isn't available right now"

So I went in to a vodaphone shop front the other day to see what's going on- if it's my sim or what...

"No... It's your Iphone" (I have an Iphone 4) to which I replied "It's not that old, I got it in July this year from America (when I was in the states I got it from the Apple store in New york with full warranty, so it's a genuine phone).
I then got told "No it must be a dodgy phone or you have done something to it... Have you put it in water"?

I explained there was nothing wrong with the phone (software/hardware wise)all the apps work, everything is great but the reception/phone/visual voicemail failing to connect/call drop outs... etc.

She told me there was absolutely no issues with the network but I would have to go to the Apple store and get it sorted.

It turns out another disgruntled customer sitting next to me while I was being told this leant over to her (the vodafail rep) and said he worked for the Apple store and there was nothing wrong with their phones (regardless if it was an American Iphone - UNLOCKED!) and he had experienced the exact same issues which is why he was in the Vodafone shop!

She then went "Ah... aH" and went back of shop and got me a cordless work phone and said "Here" and dumped a phone on me without telling me who was on the other line or what I was doing - it turns out it was the call centre in whatever country and I had suddenly to speak to some lady about what was going on - all over again.

While I was on the phone I looked for the vodafone person who was with me before and she was off with another customer ignoring me and the other dude!

This is not the first time someone has handed me a phone and walked off when they had a tricky question. It happened the last time I went into a vodafone shop - is this common practice for them?
Ignore the customer?

Nice vodafail. Nice.
4 Dec 2011 08:17:53 AM: Agreed, customer service is a bit of an enigma to VF, little or no concept of what constitutes excellent customer experience/satisfaction/service.

However that aside, there is the good and bad news, the good news is your phone is unlocked with self ownership, the bad news, that you appear to be in a contract with VF.

Time to port your number to a more reliable provider and one that has slightly more respect to the customer.

As you have complained to VF and apparently have not reached any satisfactory result why not contact the TIO?

VF have 10 working days to contact you and resolve the matter.

TIO details under the tab How To Complain at the top of the page, takes less than 10 minutes to complete their on line form.

Should you agree to mutually terminate your contract there is the potential to be away from VF before Xmas.........

20163 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very very disappointing at 1 Dec 2011 09:22:10 PM
Since yesterday, I have been getting almost no signal at all. Initially I assumed it was because of my phone, or my location, because I have never had this issue... I have restarted my phone, moved around to see where I can get some signal at least. I have heard complaints over Vodafone but I had no reason (yet) to complain - I thought Vodafone has been quite good to me.

I have been a Vodafone customer for years, had prepaid and moved to postpaid as soon as I had a full time job. Finished my contract, and immediately signed up for another 24 months with TWO plans this time. I am not the type of person to complain straight away, but my signal issues are getting really frustrating now. I get a decent signal, I try to make a call and of course the signal is immediately lost! I'm in Sydney, how can I not have any signal?

Voda keeps promising better service and coverage but by the looks of it, they are just empty promises to us.

I'm about to give this company away. They used to be a good company once upon a time and were a great alternative to the other telcos.

First of all there were problems with the reception - my bill has doubled when I had to resend test messages. Now there is supposed reception when there is none - send a text message for it to freeze and not send when there is apparently full barred up reception on my phone. Now they tell me I need to ring them to pay my bill. Funny how they can find me with a bill but I can't pay it. This is the second month.

I've lost patience finally as I have to use work time tomorrow to ring them. I don't have time to sit on the phone waiting for them to sort out my account. I've been a customer for a long time.
Pity they didn't learn from their recent mistakes with the privacy issues and listen to their customers as well.
Think I will check out someone else. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

After waiting a month for my phone upgrade I was finally ready to recieve my handset today as was told to me on the 24th. A quick call to vodafone this morning to determine when to expect my phone and Once again Vodafone has stuffed me around. I have been told it will take another 2 weeks to recieve. I have cancelled the upgrade finally. This will be the last time I will be with Vodafail, only 1 month left to go on my previous contract.

I've signed up with Telstra, absolutely fed up with Vodafail.

I've been waiting for 48+ hours for my number to port across but it won't because of some outage with Vodafail!

can you lot not do anything right?
30 Nov 2011 05:48:59 PM: Hope you cancelled the direct debits with VF..........

1 Dec 2011 10:47:04 AM: I have since called up (50 minute wait) and they have agreed that a credit will be provided for "services" since the day I signed over with Telstra.

I'd hate to think that this is a ploy to fleece us of a couple extra dollars on the way out the door.

I still haven't been ported across.

20141 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad Customer Service at 30 Nov 2011 04:27:24 AM
I was in an accident overseas and had a lot of people calling me. Unaware that I was paying for these long distance calls my next bill was upwards of two grand. Vodaphone cut me off and their cust service refused to hear my story or even allow me to work out a payment scheme with them as I could not afford to pay in full at the time due to medical costs. I have since left them.
1 Dec 2011 07:37:16 AM: go to tio they may be able to help.

20138 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is kindergarten at 29 Nov 2011 10:18:12 PM
Vodafail network totally out on my mobile phone for the last 7 hours ... essential business calls all missed .. my overseas clients alerted me via email (non phone) that they could not contact me..I dialed my number from another phone and it was diverting to message bank. When I rang out from my Vodafail all I got was a submarine beep beeep ,then nothing...

This non service has caused me so many problems on the internet connection over the last 3 years and I changed to Telstra...now the bloody phone network is stuffed... how much can a Koala Bear .. time to take this up with legal action..enough is enough. BTW, I am talking about North Sydney and the Sydney CBD reception here.

WTF!!!

20120 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 28 Nov 2011 02:55:09 PM
i have recently applied to check my credit as I would like to buy a house. I find that vodafone has put me on the bad credit list cause I have not paid a bill from June 2007. Thing is i have been a client of theres all this time and have never been informed of any outstanding amount of $930. I am up to date with all my bills and have never even seen this amount stated on any bill of any of the several contracts I have signed over the years. I would have been happy to pay this but in this time I have not been able to get a car without any hassles, get credit of any kind and now it seems that I cant get a home loan. Now I would like to be compensated. The worst part about it all was it took me 3 days to actually find this account of mine. Now that they have found it they would like me to pay the amount. The bigger they get the worse they become.

20119 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is can't deliver service or handset at 28 Nov 2011 02:04:23 PM
I was offered to up-grade to move from 3 network to Vodafone.
I ordered my phone 4s oct 2011 and also wifi modem,
waited 3 weeks and received nothing called back to cancel the service which they did because of the delay .
a week after that I received the two handset, I called Vodafone to send Per-paid post bag to send the Handset back, Vodafone advised me that the contract will be running and I'm getting charge for it if I don't send the hanDset back?
I waited 2 weeks to get the bags of Vodafone.
called Vodafone and 3 to cancel the contract they said cancellation fees over $400 or they get me sign to Galaxey Tablet and wifi for 12 month, I said its ok.
waited 3 weeks and didn't get any thing called Vodafone to cancel the order ,they aid they are very sorry they didn't know that they don't stock Galaxey tablet any more.
I ask them to get me out ?the said no we can but will sign you up for Ipad2 16g with WIFI modem I said again ok.
two weeks later didn't get any thing called them again.
Vodafone team( india and tasmania )answered saying we don't know what happen you didn't get the handset or sim card till now.
I asked them to cancel my service they said please give us last chance ,will send you to Hurstville Store to pick up the Ipad2 and sim, everything will be ready for you and please speak to staff member by the name of Mandy,
If we can't do that we happy to let you walk out of the remain of your contract without penalty??
I went to Vodafone shop , surprise the shop does not know any thing and there is no sales person by the name of Mandy .
called Vodafone from the store and I was on the phone with them for an hour then they said sorry we don't have iPad2 in stock and our supervisor in priority team did give you the wrong information sorry about that and we are going to cancel the order and contract from Vodafone point and get 3 to to wave the cancellation fee's for the remaining of your old contract with them.
I called 3 after 3 ours to make sure my contract was cancelled with both Vodafone and three ? surprise again the contract was not cancelled,
i spent 1 and half hour till i cancelled the contract with the supervisor telling me that they will charge me for the remaining of the contract cancellation fee's of $450.

20118 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is New IPhone 4S - Don't Bother at 28 Nov 2011 12:37:10 PM
For anyone thinking of going with Vodafone and getting the new Iphone 4S, don't bother, go elsewhere. I ordered my phone on 26 October and it still hasn't arrived. I had to take time off work twice to go into the store because the 1555 help number couldn't locate my phone. Twice when I did call 155 I was put on hold, the first time for over 1/2 an hour, only to have someone else pick up and say how can I help you - so had to go over it all again. The 2nd time it dropped out whilst I was on hold and had to call back, wait for 1/2 hour, then explain it all again. Finally in the end they admitted there was an error and a new phone was ordered on the 16 November with a 'High Priority' and a delivery date of 3 - 5 working days. Two days later this was extended again with a delivery date of 24 November. It is now 28 November, I havve just called the 1555 number only to be told they have no idea where my phone is or when it will be delivered. Apparently though I will receive a text tomorrow telling me when it will arrive, maybe this time, unlike the last two times, it will arrive. I am not holding my breath and am going out to see what Telstra or Virgin can offer me. I've been with Vodafone now for about 8 years I think, never really had too many problems with drop outs or anything else but this time, they have dropped the ball on so many occasions and they have lost a customer for life... Do they care, I don't think so. So again, if you are looking at getting an Iphone 4S with Vodafone, save yourself a lot of pain and go elsewhere.....

20114 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor customer service at 27 Nov 2011 04:19:18 PM
Since day one I have have had been a horrible customer experience.
1. Them not changing from plan from a blackberry to an iPhone (when I gave instructions to)
2. despite being given the information upon ordering my new phone they didn't pass on my company name to the courier, therefore phone was not delivered
3. Roaming charges completely ridiculous even when I turned everything off . THey burn't me like that before.
5. Most recently and most frustratingly - I called them on Thursday 17 November to discuss a billing inquiry, and firstly there was a 40 minute wait to speak to someone, secondly when they did they said they couldn't look at my record and told me 'I' needed to call them back. Not good enough, why can't they call me when they know a customer want to speak to them. I asked them to call me back on the Friday at 10am (to date they've still not called.

Today 27th November some 9 days later I called them after no actionable response from their customer service, Facebook or twitter staff. They claim they called me yet um....er no voice mail from them, I only got a text message last week instructing me to call them.

For a communications company they really don't like picking up the phone to call a customer.

My partner was with 3, now been forced to come to vodafail and now even calling each other the reception is worse. It just staggers me how EVERYTHING they do is so wrong and they have no idea about customer loyalty, customer service or picking up the phone to make things right.

Epic Vodafail - I wish I could get out of this contract, its been nightmare since day one. Everything about vodafone does not work and definitely not for the customer. I want out - as soon as possible
28 Nov 2011 06:12:12 AM: With all the problems you've had, you should be able to get out of the contract without paying anything. Just tell Vodafone it's not good enough and if they don't let you out then go straight to the TIO. (details on the how to complain page).

20106 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is rubbish at 25 Nov 2011 03:26:26 PM
....i have been with vodafone for at least 4 years....and frequently dubious about my bills though havnt really looked into it, as i feel phone companies in general are a rip off but a necessary evil....im not really a phone talker....so i mainly text....
....when my old contract with vodafone was near up i decided to re-sign to a new 24 month contract this time opting for a $29 cap as i rarely used my previous $49 cap.... quite regularly my bills were 10 to 15 dollars over my cap, and i accepted this as just me going over though i found it a little rough as i might make 10 phone calls a month if im lucky....as i said i mainly text....and dont use internet at all!!
....i pay my bills on time and regular so when i got a message from vodafone saying my bill was overdue and to please pay to avoid a late fee, i went into my local store to find out if there was a problem....it turned out that i had an outstanding amount of $140....i asked if the assistant could check why and she found that in the month of september i made approximately 1800 texts in that month i asked her to divide that by 30, resulting that i would have had to make on average 60 texts a day every day for a month !!!!
....needless to say i was shocked and saying to the girl this has to be a mistake and enquiring what to do about it, she replied i would have to call vodafone (1555) as they only dealt with sales connections etc. ....i paid the bill to avoid late fees but was not happy....upon sharing my pain with a friend, he told me of all the dramas with the provider recently....then i found this website and was shocked to find the tens of thousands of people also getting shafted by vodafone....
....is it worth chasing up or do i just give vodfone the finger and change providers....or am i risking having to fork out more money to these criminals....i am totally resenting the idea of giving even one red cent ....but dont want to be hit later ....

20089 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 23 Nov 2011 07:17:44 PM
Me again from Turramurra - just send this email to Voda - lets see what happens ...

Dear Sir/Madam

Two weeks ago my i-phone accidentally fell into the swimming pool - I was with "3".

I popped into a vodaphone store, 300 or so George Street given I was aware of the takeover of 3 by Vodaphone.

So had to change plans and start over - no problem; managed to get new phone so very happy - even managed to retrieve all contacts. Now for the not so good stuff.

With 3 - I could make calls from my home at Turramurra - no problem at all.
Now with vodaphone - it drops out every time - and I mean every time ... unless of course I walk across the street but then my neighbours might find that a bit odd.

With 3 - I could make calls from St Ives shopping centre
Now with vodaphone - it drops out - people here every 2nd or 3rd word ... so unless they are a mind reader, this really doesn't work

With 3 - I used to use my phone as a "hot spot" - I therefore bought the "wi-fi " ipad and not the "3G" version - it worked every time with no downtime - the site loaded straightaway.
Now with vodaphone - I would be lucky for it to register the hot spot and load the web site within 5 minutes

With 3 - I could use the hot spot to play videos on our web site to demonstrate our service
Now with vodaphone - I have to play them using the video-player - which means I have to load videos onto -itunes, sync it to the iphone and then "toggle" between the web page and the videos to demonstrate the service

With 3 - I used to make calls from the city with no problems
Now with vodaphone - it drops out

Here;s the key point - I could put up with the above (but seriously ... would you put up with that), if I didn't work for myself; if I wasn't running an internet based business which required me to showcase our website to CEOs of mid-sized companies; if I wasn't using my i-phone and i-pad as my "office" so I could work from home; if I didn't have to take calls from CEOs of companies and from prospects that I have spent hours tracking down using all my contacts and then only to find that I have to call them back - you do realise how rare it is to be able to catch a CEO at their desk ....

But I do work for myself, I do use my iphone and ipad for work; I do provide services to mid sized companies and I do talk to CEOs every day.

Since we set up out business we are now in the process of pitching to some 12 companies - from mid sized to large companies - the smallest business having 50 staff, the largest having 7,000.

What would you like me to say to the CEO the next time I experience such an issue ... because the next time it drops out when I am trying to showcase; I am not tempted to offer any more excuses ....

I would appreciate your thoughts on what I should do ... can I move back to 3 - this is really the only solution unless I move to another provider ...
24 Nov 2011 09:31:19 PM: It's unlikely you'll be able to move back to 3 as the 3 network will be retired and merged into Vodafone at the end of the year. So even if you switch back you would be going back on the Vodafone network in no time.

It sounds like the phone is vital to your business, in which case it's probably best to invest in a more reliable mobile service. If you are stuck in a contract with Vodafone then you can file a complaint with them and ask to get out of your contract without charge. If they don't let you then file a complaint with the TIO (details on the 'how to complain' page).

Best of luck.

VODAFONE, i had a dispute with some staff in a vodafone store in hornsby about my wifes phone, she was told her 1 week old I-Phone had water damage and we needed to pay for a new one. The phone had not been near water and unaware to there knowledge did they know we had a special case for it, the dispute ended with vodafone not informing us that they were terminating our contracts due to the dispute. Vodaphone did not contact us to advise us that myn and my partners phone was going to have call barring activated by vodafone until the termination was finialised,we were only made aware of this when trying to phone our local doctor due to my daughters serious whooping cough,we could not liase with doctors or anyone and when we contacted vodaphone they told us they sent a letter out that day,no good considering it takes 2days to get to us,now vodafail are trying to make us pay 1100 for the contracts.i am now seeking legal advice...never sign with this company.cheers, jeff

I run my own business - use my iphone as a "hot spot" for my ipad to demonstrate our internet site to customers. Since changing from 3 last week, the connectivity is terrible. I live in Turramurra, reception drops in and out (unacceptable). I took a phone call from a CEO (potential customer) whilst out at the St Ives shopping centre - that call too kept dropping out. I try to access my web site using the "hot spot" in the CBD - it is slower that a tortoise.... I had none of these issues with 3 at all. I have lodged a complaint with Vodaphone and will provide an update back to all if they choose to respond. I note that my wife and 2 kids also have contracts with vodaphone. What happens if they cannot get in touch when in need ... In this day and age, the lack of connectivity is a joke. If the government cal roll out the NBN network, surely a listed company can get the basics of its service right .... or am I just being hopeful ? Update tomorrow - lets see how long they take to respond.

20061 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fraud account at 21 Nov 2011 07:29:47 PM
I only migrated to Vodafone 10 data ago. From the second I ordered my phone I had problems. The stupid bitch upgrading me to the iPhone 4s didn't ask for my bank details and then had to call after two days to get them so my phone still didn't get sent out. Then she put my work address down wrong. She didn't put down a shop name or number, idiot. I had to pick up the phone myself! My pocket wifi never arrived. Then I get a bill last week. For a different number under my name!! The shifty cunts in Vodafone opened up another account without any identification or visual contact of me! And all they could offer was $20 off the bill. As if you'd expect me to pay for an account I never opened. Then I was stuck on the phone to the Indian bitch for an hour because I couldn't understand her and she was talking too fast anddd she wouldn't even tell me who in the staff authorized the account to be opened. Seriously who is stupid enough to open two UNLIMITED plans in one persons name. Fuckwits! Can't wait to fuck them over for fraud
14 Jan 2012 04:55:11 PM: hey, isnt this site meant to be moderated?
"stupid Bitch", "shifty cunts", "indian bitch", "fuckwits", to me appears to be overly agressive and includes profanity. I also personally find the term "indian bitch" to be offensive and racist. it seems to me that the moderators on this site do little more than encourage peoples anger.
19 Jan 2012 07:03:35 PM: I personally feel that every one of those words describe vodafone perfectly:)
I have ONLY EVER experienced Stupid Bitches, Shifty Cunts, Indian Bitches(who cant even speak the English language) and MASSIVE fuckwits from the day I joined till the day I left!!!!! as far as encouragement for anger,........Vodafone is the ONLY one encouraging peoples anger!!!
19 Jan 2012 09:34:19 PM: I agree with 14 Jan 2012 04:55:11 PM, I am a vodafone staff member, of indian descent.
none of those phrases describe me. I just work there, its a job. it doesnt make me any less of a person. but you seem to think it does.
do you really think that this is a reasonable response?
its nothing but offensive and racist!
21 Jan 2012 04:23:19 PM: Yep,...YOU would say that,..your from Vodafone customer service:) once again,...COMPLETE FAIL!!!!:)

20058 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 21 Nov 2011 12:44:10 PM
For the past 2-3 years Vodafone has dropped the ball when it comes to coverage. It seems nearly everyone on Vodafone is having problems. I live in an area which - according to Vodafone - should have full coverage. I cannot make or receive one call without it dropping out. The problem is not only local to my suburb. If I am connected on speakerphone and driving, at least every second phone call is dropped. A few months ago I called and made a complaint and I was told that it was due to me having old SIM cards. Well, 2 new phones later, both with the newest Vodafone sims installed and the problem remains. This is driving me crazy!!!

I was contacted by Vodafone on the 1st of November 2011 for an upgrade to my current plan over the phone in which I was offered a iPhone 4S on a $49 plan for 12 months. As part of the offer the sales person informed me that I would recieve my my phone within 5-10 working days. On the 9th of November 2011 I contacted vodafone over the cutomer care line to enquire about the delivery date of my phone at which time I was told that I would recieve it within 15-18 working days. The operator assured me that I would recieve my phone on the 21st of November (today). I contacted the customer care line again today and the operator at which time I was told that there is a 21 working day delivery time on the phone. I was given a reference number for Australian Air Express for the delivery which I have found contains no detailed information on the delivery except that the consignment is being processed and arrived in Sydney on the 11th of November.

Don't bother with Vodafone on the phone. Once they have you and you say yes, they do not care about your business after that as long as you keep paying the bill.

Wireless Broadband(?) Service

Broadband? Struggled to download Google Page. Speed was passable if I logged on at 4am in the morning. Often had to when I had important things to do.

Had to smile when the poor Indian Call Centre staffer explained to me "yes Internet slow, lot of congestion at 5pm because everyone want to use Internet" Yeah exactly like ME!!!

I didn't have a Contract but still took me 4 frustrating days to disconnect. Indian offshore Call Centre line is a shocker and the rubbish you have to go through to get Vodafone out of your life.

The Federal Government has fed us to the Wolves in the Telecomunications area. Self Regulation and this is the type of unethical behaviour companies like VodaFone come up with.

I really feel sorry for people with Contracts.

I have switched to Optus Mobile Broadband and so far am absolutely 100% happy.

VodaFone should have their Licence removed and asked to leave the Country never to return.

It is now a waiting game over the next 10 days for Vodafail to contact you for a mutually agreed outcome.

Just make sure you collect all the details, who said what, CSR id, CSR name etc.

You will be offered several sweeteners to keep you with VF, your call, but experience both personal and on this website shows that the sweeteners are not all they appear to be...........

You may consider taking your business elsewhere, I did and many others have in the past.

If that is the case ensure any direct debits are cancelled by VF as they do have a monthly habit of returning to plague you.

VF have to provide evidence that you have exceeded your cap to the tune of $609, we shall see.........

Good luck and let us know how you get on and what the outcome is!

After closing off my contract with vodafone, I received a notice saying theres an amount outstanding on my phone when i moved to telstra months before. I am begging anyone who knows annonymous to bring these facists down!
18 Nov 2011 01:19:17 PM: Anonymous is nothing more than people from a bunch of sites around the internet who interact anonymously online. There's no group beyond the instances of a bunch of people who work in concert at any particular time. I can promise that the vast majority of them don't like being used as a personal army though...

20027 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Customer service dropping out - 5 times!!!!! at 17 Nov 2011 11:57:21 AM
Vodafone - you are a failure!!! A profound, unmitigated failure!!! I hate every bone of your organization. I despise you. Your CEO should be fired, as should the rest of your management team and the shareholders should start afresh. I don't even know where to start - tried to get though to your support, called 5 times each time ploughing through endless menu selections, and each time getting dropped by some outrageously incompetent guy in India. YOU ARE A FAILURE!!!!!

20025 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MASSIVE at 17 Nov 2011 07:55:50 AM
Vodafone wants to charge me $900 because my new iphone 4s has uploaded 3.5GB via 3G network. No one can tell me what has been uploaded and or where Im uploading data to. I'm currently waiting for the TIO to contact me. My service has been suspended and my case wont be investigate until the next billing cycle which is in the first week of December. Worst customer service ever!
18 Nov 2011 08:04:48 AM: I have had EXACTLY the same thing happen yesterday and today. They cannot suspend your service unless you've not paid a bill, and they can't bar calls if you're disputing via the TIO - I haven't even gotten the bill for this extortionate amount, and am already speaking with TIO and they've barred me. Have been waiting an hour and 26 mins to get through

20024 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mega fail at 17 Nov 2011 06:38:40 AM
I have recently paid three bills via the Vodafone IVR system only for these bills to be lost in the system. Then I recived sms's from Vodafone telling me that I was about to have my "Non existant" service cut off for non payment of bills. I then had to get bank and credit card statements proving that I had paid my bills and fax them off to vodafone. Now I have to wait 30 days for their back office to investigate.

TOTAL ABSOLUTE BALLS!

It's terrible all over but it simply doesn't work IN GLEBE! INNER CITY SYDNEY!!! ALL ALONG one of the BUSIEST streets in sydney! I have never actually been able to upload a picture via twitter, not once! it's definitely gotten worse since i moved here 4 months ago (it was atrocious in brisbane as well). so i rang and explained this. they offer to waive my bills until march next year. my reply?
"so basically i can pay nothing and receive nothing?"
"...it would appear so"
haha! so i cancelled, they tried to make me pay out my contract. i told them that there isn't really a contract because my phone doesn't work. 5 minutes on hold. they waived this fee now.

am now on optus as of today... it switches over soon, time will tell if this is a glebe bermuda triangle issue or a vodafone issue. i think it's safe to say it's a vodafail issue.
17 Nov 2011 06:41:33 AM: Yeah mate, I live in Glebe also and I have the same issues, no service in Broadway mall. Calls dropping, calls failing altogether. up to 12 hour delays on SMS's, absolute SHITE.
Waiting to be ported to optus

20015 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FAEL at 16 Nov 2011 12:51:58 PM
In late August I rang up Vodafone with the intention of changing my number from a post paid to a pre paid account. I was sick of their shit which everyone is well aware and just wanted to keep my number which I've had for many years. My contract was due to run out on or around 7 September 2011. After speaking to one customer service representative, then being passed on to the customer retention team (even more annoying with their attempts to retain you), I was finally able to get the guy to change my account over. He asked me whether I wanted to do it straight away, or after my contract had expired. I said after it had expired because I don't want to pay and not receive service (which is what would've happened if I decided to change straight away). As I was on the $114 unlimited cap, I essentially paid for my service already.

Anyway he said he would have it done, without me needing to call back. I made sure of this because I wanted to make sure that this was the last time I would have to speak to Vodafone. He confirmed this and I was on my merry way.

Some time in October, I received a bill from Vodafone. I stupidly thought that this might be my last bill from them, so I paid it. In November, I received another bill from Vodafone. I knew straight away that they hadn't changed my number across and that I was essentially still paying $114 a month. I rang up on Saturday 12 November to try and rectify this issue, only for them to tell me to call back on Monday. I rang back on Monday, still without the issue resolved.

It's bad enough that they didn't do what they promised, I think this is just a tricky little technique they employ to keep customers. It makes me so angry as I've rung up about 5 or 6 times for this same matter and it's still to be resolved. Everytime I ask to speak to someone who can do something about it, or someone in Australia all the customer service representatives can say to me is I don't know if you will be transferred to Australia... Bloody gold Vodafone.

20012 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The worst at 16 Nov 2011 09:32:25 AM
On the 15 of november I received a bill saying that I own $314.04 from IDK. I called them and this indian guy said that you used ur data in excess. They started charging me extra amounts from the 23rd of october and the last time I checked my usage details was on the 27 of october saying that I have remaining $174 for calls, text messages, etc and 154mb data, excl.amt $0. They are charging me for something I didn't use even though I still had data to use.... I'm not gonna pay $314.04 because they need the money, Im gonna pay the $29 cap.

20008 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no reception, consistently recalls, now triple the price at 15 Nov 2011 08:35:53 PM
so for way too long now I have accepted , VODAFAILS lack of service, the constant recalling of phone calls that cut out, the scary sounds of an aliens or someone under water tapping into my phone calls, .. or simple people telling me that they cant hear what i am saying so they will just text... BUT now this month they have decided that this recalling and texting has come at a charge, MORE then triple my monthly allowance..

TO top it off, when i call to complain, they ask if i can call them back in 4 hours time due to them unable to access my bill due to system maintenance... 4hours later i get a call (10.00pm at night) to be told i've gone over my allowance and that i have to pay the bill... then a sorry ma-em.. i cant hear you.. i cant hear you... phone cuts out.. i am sitting at my table. my phone still stating i have 3 bars of reception.. i go no where.. the phone rings again.. hello ma-em are you there?...... i explain i have not moved, my bars of reception have not change, and he has CLEARLY illustrated my frustrations of vodafail and of people cutting out on me.. and me usually the one to recall.. still no sympathy or assistance. HE then states i have gone over my bill and i must pay.. but he will get the maintenance team which have shut for the evening to call me tomorrow.. (despite having a new iphone which i got off vodafone, thinking my last last nokia must of had issues for people cutting out on me.

My temper now boiling, He ends with have a nice DAY.. (10.15pm) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr no sleep tonight!

20003 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is THE MOST POSSIBLE at 15 Nov 2011 10:27:23 AM
Having spent 5 hrs on the phone over 10 phone calls to their customer service and 2 TIO complaints, I STILL receive a text saying I owe them money after my account was supposed to be closed in June 2011 (currently Nov 2011). During another 50 minute phone call the operator tells me they credited some money they owed me to my bank account twice, so I owe them money. I checked my bank statements and this was not so. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes he comes back, gives me a transaction reference and stops speaking. I assume he meant check it with the bank, so when I became cross he rudely interrupts and says "STOP TALKING!" I was alarmed and stopped. After more confusion I finally decipher he means they wiped the supposed amount I owed them from my record. Apart from the utter hopelessness and dishonesty of their company, customer service and billing team that I have encountered over the last 5 months, I receive the RUDEST response from a customer service operator that I have ever received in my life. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER will I use Vodafone for ANYTHING ever again, so long as I shall ever live.
FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not happy at all to have them do what they want with my money without me knowing.

Game over.

19994 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 14 Nov 2011 07:02:13 PM
Real problems with network the last five or six days.

Constant call failures when trying to ring out (This is in the Sydney CBD). I'm not receiving text messages till hours later (or in fact a full day!) and I can't access voice mail at all because it just keeps hanging up on me (saying 'call failed') visual voice mail not working either.

I went into Vodafail shop today and they said "Call the call center. We don't know what's wrong... " went to another shop just to try my luck with someone else who didn't seem so preoccupied with their own iphone behind the counter and when I explained what had been happening she looked at me, didn't say anything but "here, take this" and handed me the shop phone which was apparantley calling the call center in whatever land and went to deal with someone else!

(I'm tossing up whether or not the shop assistants service is worse than the connection problems?)

19983 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Can we change from fail to feedback at 14 Nov 2011 11:32:55 AM
I am getting a lot of twitters, facebooks and unfounded comments everytime Vodafone is mentioned people are using the trem Vodafail to be funny even though they have never used Vodafone. This is unfair. I think this website needs to be FIRM yet have a positive impact to customer experience. I suggest you change this site to VodaFEEDBACK or VodaTRACK or something that shows it is working! Every business deserves a chance to recover or become even better! But this creates spiralling of Brand damage that I beleive is now couter constructive,Vodafone is probably spending more time and money now on PR anti-smear brand damage campaigns raher than fixing its system problems where we want money to be spent! Please change your tact.
14 Nov 2011 12:30:35 PM: You seriously expect us to feel sorry for Vodafail when they are more than happy to take on customers when they know their network is substandard. How many people has this website helped who don't know any better and without this website highlighting Vodafails shoddy network they would have never spent the money on this alleged upgrade. Consider this troll fed people.
14 Nov 2011 01:46:18 PM: You are correct a long time ago they had a network that provided services, when they do again people may support them. As they treat customers like criminals for demanding basic phone/data service they will get negative feed back. As you must work for VF may I suggest you go back to your desk stick your head in the sand & blame for customers for your problems.
14 Nov 2011 01:54:32 PM: if VF were seen to be making an effort to fix obvious problems I would agree, but they aren't.

Quite upset with Vodafone! It's been half a year, calls suddenly drop out, my incoming calls go straight to voice mail as it's off when it looks to me that it's perfectly within range (at home or in the office) for hours. Family and friends can't reach and I've had so many fights with my partner because I'm not contactable. I have tried using different phones in the hope that it would improve and it just doesn't! I'm still locked in a contract for 1.5 years and I don't know how to get out! I can't afford to pay out the contract, it's just frustrating!
