26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have been a Vodafone client for 10yrs and have only experienced real issues with coverage for the last year... It doesn't matter what area I am in, my phone barely has any service! I have also had countless problems with being overcharged on my accounts and appaling customer service. I will see out my contract and then take my business to Optus.

To all those people worried that you're locked into a contract, look again at your contract. Vodafone have broken the contract themselves by not supplying the service agreed to in the contract. You should join the class action or go to the TIO, citing breach of contract by Vodafone.

2636 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely poor at 27 Dec 2010 01:51:06 PM
I have recently been overseas and took my I phone with me as it was on a plan i activated international roaming and set off, After the ridiculously high invoices i started to receive i went to a vodafail store in London to unlock my phone and they told me to call Australia Vodafail to unlock it which i did to have them tell me that they couldn't but i could do it on there website which i did at a cost of $20.00.
After a couple of day's my phone was still locked so i called Australia Vodafail and they said they couldn't help me and that it would probably take a few more days so i waited, After a couple of day's my phone was still locked so i called Australia Vodafail again and they said they will try to unlock my phone after all i had been through over the phone which again was a fail.
After many hours of calling Vodafail Australia from London which i was paying them for and telling my story to people who's english was not fluent and had trouble understanding me i decided to pay 25 pounds to unlock my phone at a electronic store which worked for a couple of weeks, Then my I phone started freezing so i took it back and they wanted to charge me for it so i told them where to go and went somewhere else and they said that whoever unlocked my phone has damaged it and i said great after all that my new I phone is worthless.
If Vodafail had of unbarred my phone like there website informed me after i had paid the $20.00 i would have saved money on my phone, phone bills and still have my I phone working properly and most importantly saved many hours of my time and unnecessary stress.
If vodafone reads this and wants to rectify my situation feel free to contact me via email at bronte782002@yahoo.com or if this site feels that they can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards and great work for this web page finally someone with the brains to show big corporations that they can't get away with the rubbish they try to pull on us all.

I switched from 3 to Vodaphone about in October 2010 after complaining to 3 for months and months about their terrible service - no reception and call dropping out costing em a fortune in mobile calls from my landline. Until about 2 weeks ago the Vodafone reception was bearable but now it is the same as 3. Hutchinsons owns 3 and Vodafone so I know who should be sued.

Vodafone is absolute crap. Been on hold for 1 hour and could not understand what the person at the other end was even saying. I use to get 2-3 Bars 3G Reception in my area, and in the last 2 months or so its slowly going down. (0-1 Bar 3G) or sometimes 1 Bar 2G. >.< This is annoying. I hate vodafone. Ill be going telstra.

Bad reception, can't use internet properly, calls drop out, expensive plan, deceiving plans, tried to log in to myvodafone account (have done this every month for 1.5years to see my account balance< etc) and all of a sudden it says my p/w is incorrect and I need to call them. Now I've been forced to try and get through to someone just to see how much I'm using my phone and the charges etc. Total joke.

2622 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is disappointing at 27 Dec 2010 01:47:35 PM
I am an call community nurse and I am heavyly relying on my phone, and it is disappointing that 80% of the time I have no reception or very poor reception. Last few days I have had no reception at all and I can not recieve incoming calls which means I am loosing my income. My workplace is not able to contact me nor am I able to contact them, therefore they replace me by calling other staff. I was involved in a road accident and due to the lack of reception I was unable to make an emergency call. Vodafone failed me and dissapointed me miserably.

2619 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is spending too much on advertising and nowhere enough on core services at 27 Dec 2010 01:47:05 PM
Live at Noosa Heads on Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Despite maps showing good coverage for the region (phone/txt), don't be fooled. Coverage is worse than bad in many built-up areas with continually fluctuating signal strength and regular drop-outs. Problems appear to have increased significantly in recent months. And don't get me started on their website; its as unreliable as the network coverage.

Company has taken its eye off the ball.........too much advertising for new customers and have forgot about the ones they already have (who likely won't be staying around for much longer!! Shame really)

2615 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Sick of pre-paid dropouts GOLD COAST at 27 Dec 2010 01:46:49 PM
I am bloody sick of dropouts and bad reception, i'm talking 1 bar maximum on reception, has been ridiculous.

The blackberry is constantly on SOS calls only, or simply "Network Not Found"

I am in Beenleigh which is a pretty central place, just north of Gold Coast, and this has been happening for almost a year.

When will they actually start providing a service that EXISTS!?! I am switching to Telstra soon as I cannot cope with not being able to actually make or receieve phone calls.

2601 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is not as good as it used to be at 27 Dec 2010 01:43:05 PM
I've been with Vodafone for about 18 months now. The service was fine - great, actually - until about six months ago. I live in an a metro area of the Gold Coast which used to get about 3-5 bars of 3G reception. For the most part it worked fine and provided acceptable service. Then almost overnight, everything changed. I now get about 0-2 bars and data is an absolute pain. I thought it might've been my handset but after testing different handsets with different sim cards, the problem was clear. Unfortunately the issue isn't isolated, as reception everywhere in general is rubbish. 2G on the other hand is fine, however is pretty slow for data... particularly when connected via GPRS. This isn't what I paid for. I never thought I'd say it, but it seems Vodafone is WORSE than Droptus. in six months time (if I can last that long) I'll absolutely be joining Telstra.

2566 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 01:34:26 PM
Just saw a news story on this, thought I'd share my pain. I have been with telestra all my life until I got an iPhone 2 years ago. Since swapping to an iPhone I changed networks as vodephone had the the cheapest deals. Since changing network, I no longer get reception in my office and even most areas of my house. Message's can take 48 hours to appear in my message bank so frequently that I have had to remove my mobile number from my business cards as I wasn't receiving messages. I thought these issues may have been related to the iPhone and Thad why I have never registered my disappointment in case the problem related to the iPhone, I love this device and I'm not getting rid of it so I just put up with it. Knowing now that is a network issue, I'm sharing my pain not for compensation, just to put a rocket under vodefone and get them to fix the issue.

I have problems getting reception in Brisbane. The internet is so slow it is almost useless. My picture messages don't go through for hours. When calling the connection stops working and all you can hear is this stupid alien noise so you have to hang up and call back. Sometimes the call won't even go through. It is slow. It doesn't tell me I have voicemail for hours. It is SO expensive for the benefit I am receiving. I am changing to TPG as soon as my contract runs out. A LOT better service, and the prices and contracts are a lot more consumer friendly.

2545 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is coverage is boardering on pointless. at 27 Dec 2010 01:30:54 PM
I told the sales rep I travel between Brisbane and Mackay several times a week, and that I live in Beerwah and needed the phone both as a 24 hour contact and safety net when on the road. I have very little coverage if any at times when at home, Coverage on the Bruce Highway, is extreamly patchy if not totally non existent from beerwah to Mackay in a lot of places. Vodaphone is not a seriouse provider at all as they do not appear to have improved their coverage at all in the 3 years I have been with them. They really need a seriouse wake up call as they put the lives of people like me at risk by misrepresenting their coverage areas at point of sale.

2541 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is decrepit reception & service at 27 Dec 2010 01:29:22 PM
In late 2008, I had to contact Vodaphone the very next day after taking out a new contract because I had no reception at home. Their own maps showed there should have been reception. Vodaphone took many months before they agreed they would cancel my contract without penalty to me. In the process I had to continue to pay monthly for a phone I could not use. At one stage, when the phone was switched OFF [I was on a plane] it dialled one of its own service numbers hundreds of times and then sent me a bill for hundreds of dollars! There is far more to my story and I cannot bear to re-live it all! I will however, if I can get something for the torture and mental torment Vodaphone and its Reps put me through. I have retained the full file of this stupid saga. By the way, The guy at Crazy Johns also kept hard copies of his attempts to help me- they were not at fault..Vodaphone gave WRONG information about their coverage on their maps and when we verbally checked, they lied. The saga lasted around 9 months before I finally got a Zero account BUT I STILL HAD TO PAY AROUND $50 month for the privilege of not having a phone that worked! They even had the gall to try to charge me $415 "voluntary cancellation fee". That took many phone calls and very angry temper tantrums from me before they stopped the runaround from their staff!
Incompetent idiots and a terrible system. NEVER AGAIN!@#$%^&*()!
They should never have charged me a penny! There was never any offer to reimburse me for the monthly fees I had to pay!!!

2529 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely appauling at 27 Dec 2010 01:26:16 PM
I live in a fairly big City and am always having to find "hotspots" within my house just to be able to use my service. But even when you do locate one of these areas if you move your phone even in the slightest receiption drops completely. Making a call is unheard of, answering a call is hit and miss as the person on the other end 9 times out of 10 cant hear you even though they are crystal clear. Vodafone tells me this is due to a problem with my brand new iPhone4 that THEY sold me. I also waited 13 weeks for a replacement handset of another phone THEY also sold me only to be accused of trying to get something for nothing. And on Christmas eve I woke to find my service had been disconnected due to Vodafone failing to credit my account with over charges that they had placed on my bill and then promised to credit which they didnt. After 3 hrs 45mins I finally got sense out of them and got my phones switched back on. Vodafone is the worst telco company I have ever delt with. I too want to cancel my contracts and leave. Sorry its so long winded but believe me this is only a very small part of my grip with this company.

2522 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No signal in my street at 27 Dec 2010 01:23:13 PM
Vodafone map shows full signal strength in my street (Chapell Hill, Brisbane) but there is no signal at all. Vodafone Technicians acknowledge this and say the map is just a guide, and that sales staff don't have access to actual coverage maps. I sent my USB modem back and they cancelled my contract however each month I get a threatening notice saying I haven't returned the modem, and I owe them money. Each time I've phone them and they finally acknowledge I have sent the modem back and I owe nothing. When I asked for an apology and a letter or email acknowledging receipt of the modem and confirming my contract is dead and I don't owe them any money, they refused both requests. Great customer service!

My understanding of a contract is that both parties have obligations. Your obligation is to pay the account when its due, and theirs is to provide a service. If you're paying and they're not providing the service you signed up for, they've broken the contract - go straight to TIO.
27 Dec 2010 01:39:50 PM: well said mate it appears vodaphone are in constant breach of all their supply contracts.
27 Dec 2010 01:50:42 PM: See "decrepit reception & service" above - I told Vodaphone they had broken my contract and also asked for similar receipts & letter to no avail. Seems we have all been kept isolated until now but the game is now up for this bad deal.

2511 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big Fail!! at 27 Dec 2010 01:19:50 PM
I have been with vodafone for a number of years. I was a Pre Paid customer for my mobile phone. I decided to become a Mobile broadband customer on thier pre paid service. BIG MISTAKE #1. The data speeds are terrible and very slow, but worse, in a 1 month period i am guaranteed to be comppletly un able to use thie Mobile Broadband at all!! This causes some horrific problems as i have a strong need to use interenet, my family and friends often are over seas.
As i am writing this i wonder why, but i then decided to go on a 12 month contract with my mobile phone, what was i thinking?????
In the first 3 weeks my contract was activated as a 24 month $49 contract and not the 12 month $49. And when i tried to call to fix this problem the fun really started! After trying to negotiate my way throught " LARA " i would then be put on hold, for a minimum of at least 20mins!! And when i eventually did get to speak to an operator, it would seem that apprently i do not speak very good English because i can never understand the operator, and nor can they understand me. I am Australian, and speak fluent english. Or at least i thought. Some times when i send text messages they often will not arrive at destination, and sometimes 10 duplicate messages get delivered, a week later!
On the whole my Mobile Phone does not seem to suffer too many problems, but the mobile broad band is a horror joke!!! Its shocking. And the customer help centre is nothing short of disgusting and a total joke!!!!
I want to join in this class action asap!!! I have had enough!!!!!

2486 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING SINCE THE BLACK PLAGUE at 27 Dec 2010 01:15:31 PM
I have been on my current Vodafone contract (the 69 Cap+insurance/iphone.16gb/3G) for over a year now. And i have had absolutely below standard reception nearly, & i am not exaggerating this at all, (i don't see the point in that) the ENTIRE (whole) time. I signed the contract in Toowong and i live one postcode over..and about 2 km away and i get VERY-LITTLE TO NO SERVICE. By this i mean..no email, no internet, no google, no apps no service bars..and above all...THE MOST RIDICULOUS LACK OF ANY REASONABLE AND/OR USEABLE CONTENT AND/OR COVERAGE in the history of mobile phones, smart, internet capable phones, or mobile contracts in Australian Mobile history. Its has been the biggest, and most expensive, not to mention frustrating waste of time and money iv'e ever had THE PRIVILEGE TO PAY FOR. I miss calls i didn't even know HAD CALLED...I even went in to politely complain, i have been given 2 new sim cards..which did nothing. I sat in polite silence and often thought just how unfair and criminal my whole situation was..everybody else could use there phones to netbank...to chat ..to buy things..and yes, to even answer a call from a friend living next door, down the road or in the next state....i couldn't even successfully check my email....and yet, i was, have been, and still am forking out 79.00+ a month for the privilege to have a nice shiny expensive brick..Oh, yeah because its so useless i ended up buying a second pre-paid on another network so...yeah, i now use that and still pay for Vodafone...Im now so angry and disappointed with this company i cant even watch an add with the Vodafone logo...Cricket etc etc
I cannot go into a store anymore and listen to the endless and equally useless excuses and denials
I was so upset and angry and thought i would always just suffer in silence...but it seems that other people out there felt the same way..im glad i found this site..maybe, if just one person reads this, they may think twice before signing that contract and ending up wasting all there time and money too....and having to deal with the "VODAFONE EXPERIANCE" OR perhaps the lack thereof.

it makes me sick every time i see the logo..despite merging with 3MOBILE AUSTRALIA AND BECOMING VHA AUSTRALIA, I AND EVIDENTLY 1000'S Australian customers, who do the right thing and pay all our bills on time are being blatantly taken massive advantage of.

~Vodafone i despise you beyond contempt..i pray for your destruction and hope that one day, i may see you torn apart limb from limb..the things i would do you..if you were a person and not a corporation (difference?) and my (useless) i-phone had a sharpened stainless steel edge on it.~
--In all seriousness though, everything above is the absolute, absolute truth...why would waste my time on holidays to write this otherwise...

2460 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Slow conection no service at 27 Dec 2010 01:04:59 PM
Was with vodafone wireless for 24 months in Brisbane November 2007 - 2009. Connection dropped out constantly, was sooo slow I could not do internet banking. Could not wait for my contract to expire so I could afford to change to TPG. Attempts to call vodafone for some explanation were met with 'we will look into the problem in your area and give you a call back'. Four weeks later I received a phone call to tell me they could not find any problem in my area. This happened constantly. Impossible to get any service from them. I would have sent them an email, but I couldnt even access their site! Changed to TPG, never had a prob with them, they are awesome. Dodo wireless is faster that vodafone.

2447 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic ! at 27 Dec 2010 01:00:45 PM
I have a work supplied phone on Vodafone.

The cell coverage in Martins Drive Kuluin QLD is appauling. I know who in my street uses Vodafone ... and I havent even met them ? How do I know who uses Vodafone in my street. Easy ... I just look out the window and see who is in the street trying to use their mobile. Yep .... they are the Vodafone customers.

When I complain to Vodafone that their cell coverage is crap ... I am told that its mine or the phones issue ! The remedy is turn the phone off and then on again. Hahahah. What a joke. Vodafone think they can hoodwink modern and intellegent IT users ... like we are granny's from a previous generation.

Afetr numerous complaints I was told to move away from GSM into 3G. Hahahaha. Again they think that they can hoodwink us with tech talk. 3G is NOT a cell coverage fix ... its a data transfer protocol. So I move to 3G (thanks to my gulible employer who bought the Vodafone story). Any difference in cell coverage ? Nope ... in fact is proberby worse !

Vodafone are note spending enough on infrastructure (ie Towers) and using cheap Mobile Carrier manufactuers equipement.

By the way .... i have a sencond really old mobile phone with Telstra. 5 bars signal ... in any area INSIDE the house ... all the time.

Vodafone should spend less time sponsoring corporate events and spend that money on more towers and better service.

Perhaps a trip to the courts will get their attention ?

2436 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is No problems at 27 Dec 2010 12:58:42 PM
I have to agree with the vast minority of Vodafone customers who do not actually have a problem.

I have been a Vodafone customer since 1996. I admit, I do not have any great expectations of Vodafone. I use my mobile as a telephone, no bells and whistles. And living within a metropolitan area, I have no issues with range. I simply expect that if I'm travelling to a remote area, I accept coverage is unlikely.

I spend less than $10 per month on my mobile, so I get what I pay for. My opinion is if you want to get all the bells and whistles and coverage in every corner of Australia, then move (and pay through the nose) to telstra.

Well, that's my 2c.

PeterB, Toowoomba Qld
27 Dec 2010 03:02:32 PM: The Problem is Peter is that they promise the world and deliver nothing! They say yes you can be connected but cannot. People are frustrated with broken promises.
27 Dec 2010 03:45:54 PM: Your lucky Peter, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, i couldn't make or recieve calls, or SMS. They bullshit their customers, which just isn't good enough.
27 Dec 2010 04:53:27 PM: Telstra are terrible, would use Vodaphone over them!
27 Dec 2010 06:04:07 PM: I live in Toowoomba too Peter, and you would have experienced call dropouts. You don't pay for or use any of the features that the majority of Vodafone customers are being charged for...so yes, you are in a minority
27 Dec 2010 09:45:37 PM: i live in melbourne and throughout the inner suburbs (that includes where i live) i have frequently no coverage. i've been told its the sim, handset, and i've replaced them however i am in the same boat of not being able to send SMS, make or receive calls, get delayed voicemails and i'm a small business so depending on the severity of the reception drop outs, it can really impact my reputation with my clients if i m not contacting them back promptly. its just not good enough, they need to run their business fairly as its not fair on their misled customers.
27 Dec 2010 10:03:13 PM: My expectation of Vodafone is pretty simple. That I am able to call out and receive my calls when I am paying $60 a month. Fair and simple. No Bells or whistle. Just to be able to call from my lounge room.
27 Dec 2010 11:25:11 PM: I live in south side of QLD and have no issues with my calls or text or mobile broadband at all.
28 Dec 2010 06:22:39 AM: Totally agreed with previous comment about expectations. I am paying $79(my personal/business) on one and $49(wifey) on the other. I expect service and comfortable talking with clients as well as family. Isn't that fair?
28 Dec 2010 09:38:51 AM: Isn't it fair for those of us who live in a capital city or a major city, to expect decent coverage whilst IN the city. Peter, you obviously don't use your phone as much as we do, we can understand that. But you have to understand, for those of us who rely on our mobile phones working.... this is hell.

We have been with Vodafone for ten years. We have been on a business plan with five mobile plans connected. We also have a mobile data plan. For the last year nothing - absolutely nothing - has worked - and it has impacted the business. The last call to Vodafone - which took over 80minutes to answer for customer support, told us the upgrade would be finsihed by Christmas. Well, that of course has not happened. I don't know if it is the phones (but there are several different types in the plan) and/or the network, but this is the first time we have looked to churn. I have not used the data plan for over a year, because it will not work and the multiple calls to get it sorted has ended up with the laptop being blamed, but have tried other mobile data services and they work fine. The contract is up shortly and most certainly will not be renewed. Not sure if the reverse take over by 3 has resulted in this significant deterioration in services, but the exec team needs to be changed and I think that too many people were laid off from the merger/takeover which is defintily impacting the service. When the basic promise of delivering communications cannot be met, never mind the brand values are muddled and are not being demonstrated, then something is very awry! And as a long term advocate - that has influenced over 20 new connections, all of which have churned this year - I find it amazing that their data and systems do not support more responsiveness with even long term customers

28 Dec 2010 05:31:28 PM: lol @ the dodgy home based business above offering superior services inside poorly written sales pitch with shocking spelling and apalling grammar. Nice work trying to cash in on any opportunity that presents :)
28 Dec 2010 06:17:42 PM: LMAO!!!
28 Dec 2010 06:47:27 PM: PMSL...If you are going to bag someone's spelling (above), you should spell all the words correctly yourself!!!!!!!
28 Dec 2010 08:26:58 PM: So you're going to give them grief for missing a solitary 'p' in 'appalling'? I fail to see their sales pitch. It doesn't appear to be representing any company vying for other posters dollars. So a single missing letter is of no importance. You'd expect perfection from a business representative. Not so much from the general public.
28 Dec 2010 10:43:51 PM: No, you don't normally give one grief for missing a 'p' in appalling. But they are using that word in context of bagging someone else's poor spelling and grammar. You'd think they would double check their own post. LOL.

There's nothing wrong with Vodafone at all.

I've been a customer for years, and never had a problem with it.

The recent weather trends are probably responsible for any network problems.

I have family members on Optus, Telstra and 3 Mobile, all three of these companies have been having the same troubles.

Anybody who tries to sue Vodafone completely deserves to waste any and all time they put into this fruitless endeavour.
27 Dec 2010 12:50:50 PM: Haha - funny!
27 Dec 2010 12:52:10 PM: Yeah sure!! And how long have you been in the employ of Vodaphone?
27 Dec 2010 12:53:29 PM: Good for you you must live next door to a tower
27 Dec 2010 12:53:39 PM: It's so obvious you're a VodaFone employee. Besides, your comment is just one "positive" in sea of negatives, so it doesn't count. At all.
27 Dec 2010 12:53:48 PM: I knew there had to be one out of 400,000 customers happy!!! Quick, note this time and date....
27 Dec 2010 12:55:12 PM: Not employed by Vodafone, just a customer like everyone else... I live in a semi-rural area and I've yet to have a problem with any reception (Actually, yesterday for about an hour, I was stuck with one bar of reception)

I'm just saying, that you guys need to just get over it... I'm quite happy with the service, and just thought I'd come check out what everyones complainign about (Linked from MSN Today to the site)
27 Dec 2010 12:56:22 PM: When you say "customer", don't you mean "staff member"??
27 Dec 2010 12:57:58 PM: Come to my place and tell me there's no problem with Vodafone 'at all'. Silly goat.
27 Dec 2010 01:01:34 PM: I guess I must just live in a decently covered area... Although it's hardly like I'm living in the middle of the CBD anywhere, I live just South of Gladstone in Queensland, and I've always had more trouble with Telstra than any other company... I'll just wait a few weeks and see if I have any troubles... Will post back if anything happens.
27 Dec 2010 01:11:48 PM: Hi 'customer'
I have a business that relies on mobiles for communication. Given that these work less than 40 percent of the time, while I seemingly have close to %100 coverage with Telstra. I am sure, that if you were a customer receiving this sort of service, with little or no response from customer care or support, you might find it hard to 'get over it'.
Every call my business misses from a new client costs me approximately $50 at a minimum (that is a conservative minimum).
Would you be happy to just 'get over' a potential loss of clientelle of approx $200 per day?
I think not...

I had to go to Rockhampton for work in late November and got one bar of phone coverage maximum and NEVER any 3Gg service. A couple of months ago I had issues in Brisbane where my texts would fail sending on my end, but get sent five times to the recipient. Because I thought they'd failed I'd try over and over again and they'd get up to thirty texts. Lately 3G times out constantly everywhere I go in Brisbane, and I drive for a living so that's pretty much everywhere.

It either freezes on me, diverts my call to someone I don't know, fails to let me text, this occurs on and off. One month it works and the next month it fails. My latest drama, I had to change my sim card because it would no longer read my current one!!! Need I go on.... Each time I take it back to where I purchased they give off some lame excuse, not to mention the service guy checking out the chicks walking past rather than paying attention to what I am telling him. I call the customer service line and they totally give me the brush off too...Christmas Day and I'm back to square one. Vodafone totally FAILS!!! When this contract is up I'm off elsewhere.

2335 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Utter fail at 27 Dec 2010 12:34:53 PM
I'm a 20 year old student.

I'm on a $69 cap with for the iphone + $8 insurance, 1 gb of internet and access to 3g network. In little under a year my phone stopped being able to connect to the 3g network, the internet became extremely slow and the phone would often miss calls.

I called Vodafone while at uni and spent close to and hour waiting on the phone. I had to hang up. No one answered. I tried calling again later and got through. I told them that I would like a new phone and felt entitled to one as I had been paying the extra insurance costs. They told me I would have to pay an additional lump sum of just under $200 to repair the phone. I hung up. As it happened they did discount me a month off of my 24month contract due to reception issues, however, I'm still paying way too much for a service that is overpriced and barely functional.

The internet is too slow for the 1gb of data entitlement, services such as googlemaps are cumbersome and the general utility of my phone is undermined by poor hardware performance and a service provider who, like others have said before, seem to disregard the nature of a contract. I'm paying $78 for a service I could get on a $50 or $30 cap.

Thank god someone set up this website.

2332 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very unstable at 27 Dec 2010 12:32:51 PM
I have had continual poor reception with constant dropouts since I started my 2 year contract nearly 2 years ago. Since I use my mobile in my computer business you can imagine the embarrasment when calls with customers would just cut out. During calls I would also experience very poor call quality due to poor reception, making it very difficult to hear what customers are saying. My home office appears to be in a location where Vodafone coverage is not very good (even though I checked with the Vodafone shop staff before signing the contract) and most of the time my mobile shows no signal reception. I will often suddenly hear a text message come in saying I have a missed call, even though my mobile never rang. This is very common and quite frustrating. I'm definitely not getting my money's worth from my phone plan as I find most of the time I have to resort to a landline to make calls. I've tried different mobiles but I still have poor reception. I've also tried calling technical support a few times but haven't got very far. On a few occasions a Vodafone customer service representitive has rang my mobile but while talking with them my phone has dropped out, leaving me at square one. With only 3 months left in my contract I cannot wait to change providers so that I can use my mobile as expected. If Vodafone could improve their service I would be very happy to stay with them. I've found good reception with Telstra but I must say they are much more expensive...

I remember getting faster speeds in the days of dialup modems. 3G is classed as broadband right? How can a company offer a service and not provide it but then provide no way to get the problem resolved? As soon as I can get out of my contract I will never be a vodafone customer again.

Recently, my partner and I signed up for the portable wireless broadband plan for 10gb a month. We were assured that we would have full coverage in our area, and that the coverage would be more than suitable for online gaming. We are lucky to have one bar of coverage, thus meaning that gaming is near impossible due to lagging issues and glitching. Furthermore, my iphone plan is with Vodafone, and I'm constantly going in and out of service when I was assured full coverage in my area.
27 Dec 2010 12:46:06 PM: gaming on wireless will ALWAYS be dodgy with any current network connection or provider I would think.

But yeah painful when you dont have standard service.

I swapped to vodafone just before the 3 merger. The sales rep told me the service would improve in my area because of the merger. On 3 I had limited reception issues. The service area map showed very good service in my area on vodafone, in fact it was better than 3 according to the maps.

Now, my phone drops off the service randomly, I cant use it downstairs in my house (if you can figure out why you're doing better than me) and for awhile there every night at 6pm the network would completely disappear to return 30-40 minutes later. Why? Buggered if I know!

Anyway, total fail began today. My partner is in Sydney for Christmas and now our phone conversations are more weird than normal. We will be talking fine for several minutes and then I can no longer hear him but he can hear me. What the? We have had multiple calls like that, I can only assume its so we hang up and call again to incur more fees or something.

27 Dec 2010 06:24:39 PM: For eight weeks continuously my clients could not contact me on my mobile, the impression some of my most valuable clients got was that my phone was disconnected due to non payment. There have also been other problems. Vodafone refused to release me from contract.
27 Dec 2010 06:28:14 PM: I am locked into a two year deal with Vodafone and I cannot wait to get out of it. The service outside of Perth is utterly pathetic and the charges they make for recovering voice messages (when you can) makes Ned Kelly look like Saint Mary McKillop. The CEO should resign or step up and give people thier money back.
27 Dec 2010 06:31:57 PM: Is it true that Vodafail will let me out of my contract and not pay a penalty?
If yes, I will do it immediately. What's more the Vodafone roaming service overseas is an absolute joke, except for the unbelievable charges.
27 Dec 2010 06:39:25 PM: From the time I changed to vodafone the phone's map doesn't work (even on the latest firmware) and when I talk it keep on dropping out. Optus and telstra were way better.
27 Dec 2010 07:28:31 PM: I live just 10kms out of Brisbane and my friends can't even contact me and I can't use my phone. Never have reception or 3G. Vodafone is pathetic!
20 Jan 2011 08:24:28 PM: been with vodaphone for many years . coverage of late is extremely poor. constant drop outs ,full signal one minute none the next, most of my call costs are from drop outs, no more!!! changed carriers today, $60 unlimited pm with optus..got my vodaphone lock removed ,will now save 1200 a yr in costs, vodaphone you have lost a loyal customer due to your poor service about time you listen and acted, not once did you offer a refund or extra credit.. no more..

I am so disgusted in the service I have received to date. I'm paying for additional internet for my laptop that to date I have been unable to actually log onto and an iphone that has the worst reception I have experienced in all the years I have been a mobile phone user. Every time I called the service line I am told that 'Vodafone are experiencing an unprecedented number of calls and that the wait could be up to and over an hour!' Unprecedented... really, I beg to differ!!!! And please tell me who has an hour to wait on hold!

What a joke, signing with Vodafone was the biggest mistake I ever made!
28 Dec 2010 12:50:59 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

2276 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Horrible at 27 Dec 2010 12:22:44 PM
Hi, just heard about this site on ABC Newsradio and thought it was a great idea. Have been a customer of Vodafone for over 9 years and recently I upgraded to the new Nokia N8 having previously been using a Nokia 6220 Classic with no trouble at all (for almost 2 years). Have had almost 2 weeks of call dropouts. dead zones (where I never used to have any trouble before), and a couple of "sim registration fails". I've found that if I have the phone on speaker, it seems to work a bit better but that is not always possible when in public places. Also complete loss of signal for no reason which requires and restart to correct. Haven't contacted Cust service as it's the holidays etc but thought I would wait and see if it improved. Did get a new sim card which sort of helped a little. Thanks for this site. regards, John W.

No Service. THey reduced my plan after a month of chasing. Then on a $35 plan I owe them over $200 in two months. Complained to customer service - we actuall noy - I could get though. LARA should be shot. Billing left to stategically shaved monkeys and service left to Telstra (NOW THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING!)

Have text (drove up the road for reception) from my apparant full coverage including 3G area. Have phoned, text , Faxed and emailed - NO RESPONSE.

Been a client for over 10 years... make that -11 years.
27 Dec 2010 12:48:15 PM: we actuall noy - I could get though = well actually not - I couldnt get through for any follow up to plan change. I would like to cancel but see this as being as difficult. By the way for the $200 I never used the phone once....

I am in Mt Tamporine just 30mins west of the gold coast. I am visiting family for a week for christmas. Since i have been here I have had not one bar of reception while everyone around me has full. I am having to drive 30mins to collect phone messages which are quite important as I organise a new years event in Sydney. This is unacceptable! I havn't even been able to receive christmas messages. What am I paying $100 a month for?? but of course to a vodafone customer of some time this is of no surprise. I wait every day excited for the end of my contract.

So bad is vodafone that I had no reception in the SYDNEY CBD everytime i entered myers or david jones on pitt st. I mean really.

FIX IT

Wireless internet is soooo slow... A page takes up 2mins to load... called up Voda and the say its the coverage.... But evern @ 3am in the morning the connection is slow or just drops out... Vodafone=Fail
27 Dec 2010 01:11:32 PM: I get the worse spend on the wireless. Infact between 2am and 6am am is the only time I can use it and it wont be at dial up speeds :( I moved to 3 and its worse!!!! 3 is crap and so is vodafone.
28 Dec 2010 08:41:24 AM: Agree, 3 is crap. I'm in Surfers. Do they use the Vfone towers? Probably. Anyway, mobile "broadband" is more like mobile agony. I'm wasting my life waiting for simple pages to load. I think I grew a beard waiting for an overseas page. It used to be a lot better - before Vfone bought 3 that is. I've been online for 20 years. I remember when dial-up was all we had. It was quicker then than 3/Vfone can manage in this next century. But let's give them credit. We pay them heaps and let them give us shit, it's a top business model.

Long receptional delay times and cut outs every 5 minutes all on international calls. Tried phoning 1555 to resolve this and Vodafone text and emails regarding I owe them money on account I closed off more than 2 months ago, which I lost credit on my phone and internet prepaid system. Their call centre staff are not clear, concise in speaking fluent language, I made it clear to them to speak slowly and claerly, they are rude. Easy way to loose customers world wide, and they'll loose their jobs.

I'm with 3 that has been taken over by Vodaphone. Since Sept 12th they've moved me onto 'outdoor coverage' which is no coverage at all. Message ? "Unable to connect to server". Hours and days later I'm told that there aren't many customers in my area hence Vodaphone has put me onto outdoor coverage. They also have a problem with some of their cell sites which they reluctantly admitted to.

You cannot get decent reception once you are past the RAAF base at Amberley. In Toowoomba it is crap. The region coverage map says you should be able to get reception all the way from Brisbane out west to Toowoomba and down to Warwick (the area I travel in - and it's flat as a tack country from Toowoomba to Warwick). Why should I pay for a service that I don't get? I wouldn't have signed up with a telco provider if it wasn't going to cover the area I travel in. No phone coverage, no net coverage. Toowoomba isn't exact a pip squeak of a town.

My Usual Business phone plan spend is around $250 -$350 per month.... this month $4,000+ reason being one of my numbers has downloaded 10 gig of data over the month (phone is used by a person largely in wifi network and who also sleeps at night), and why didn't I get notification before it got to $3000?. OK, fair enough, say we have downloaded 10 gig, now give me a reasonable price for it! I then tried to contact them on many occasions usually on hold for 15-20 minutes and when I got through, the consultant has either no knowledge of why the bill is so high or.....beep beep beep, ohh, the indian call centre has dropped out again, here goes another 20 minutes of my life wasted. Anyway, finally have reported them to the TIO....lets see what happens, there is no way I am paying this, bad credit rating or not!

I have a prepaid...or at least i did have. No reception in many areas in and around Brisbane, but thats not the worst. I can no longer use the "sim" because it was hacked or cloned. Whoever did this, took all but $2 of my credit. Even with the $2 credit, i am blocked from sending text or calling out. After several talks with Vodafone reps and a complaint to TIO, no action was taken. When i stated my situation on Vodafone's Facebook page, they quicky removed my message. Looking at a computer screen shown to me by a sales assistant at a Vodafone store, i was surprised to see 2 names with my number, one of which was myself.

Do you know what is crazy? Im in a town called Childers for christmas, 3 hours out of Brisbane, has one woolworths and subway is the only fast food here. I have perfect reception in a gully 5 mins out of the town centre. Why can't the city be the same, so annoying,

My husband and I had a terrible 2 years with the vodafone 3G mobile broadband. Our internet would constantly drop out if connect at all and was very slow. After countless complaints to customer care and promises that were never recieved, we got no results and vowed never to use them as an internet provider again. When i signed up via the internet for a new mobile phone and plan I was notified a week later telling me the phone was not available and had to choose a different phone (the only reason i signed a plan was to get that phone) My name is still spelt incorrect on my bill even though I've gone into store to correct 3 times now. I'm sorry we ever signed up for the mobile internet and am glad to be out of that contract finally.

Somehow locked out of the website using all my regular sign-on details. Spent 20 minutes going through that useless automated system (thank heavens they finally gave you the option to just push buttons as opposed to screaming English that the computer wouldn't recognise anyways), only to get a guy who told me that the website is "experiencing difficulties" (read: FAILS), as is the entire recharge phone system, and they had absolutely no idea when it would be fixed. Not a clue. The only flimsy excuse he could cough up was that they're "renewing the systems". Over Xmas?? WTF? Really, Vodafone, REALLY???? You do ONE thing and you can't even do that reliably, nor even manage a website.

I have recently moved to the Caboolture area from Burpengary where my service was good. But now Im lucky to have 1 or 2 bars. It takes me a few attemps to send a text. If I call someone I have to make sure to tell them I have horrible service so I will cut out sooner rather than later. I don't have a landline connected so it is concerning having 2 children and not having the phone service when needed. It is really frustrating. My blackberry battery is disgusting and the phone died a couple of months ago and so when I took it in to get fixed it was total drama!! I tried contacting customer service and found out to my chagrin that customer service was in India or some place offshore.
I ended up with NO service for this broken phone and as soon as my contract is up I am waving goodbye
