Dear visitor,
Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant
contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced
by Vodafone customers.
Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders.
You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.
Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.
More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly.
Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints.
The site will remain online for as long as possible as a
reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.
It has been a privilege to run this initiative
and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In
particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their
continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.
You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.
Until next time,
Adam Brimo

2168 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Doesn't work at 27 Dec 2010 11:56:43 AM
After signing up for wire-less internet it didn't work, even after a tech from Vodafone tried to fix it. I asked to cancel the contract (the same day I received the modem), yet they still bill me every month!
I did eventually speak to somebody (3globalservices.com) in Mumbai after 4 hours (really!) of transfers to various managers to be told that they didn't have my request on their "log", thus they couldn't help. I have been waiting now for 2 weeks for their tech bloke to call to fix my lack of reception! Perhaps he will install a tower in my yard!

2167 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 11:56:39 AM
I have been with Vodafone for around 6 years now and never have I experienced such poor reception, customer service and such delays.
I frequently getting people saying they called me, yet my phone never rang nor did it register a missed call but days later I finally recieve the voicemail message. I'm constantly turning my phone off and on to try to increase my reception. I recently was told to turn my "3G" off to gain more reception and it worked to a point where my phone says I have full reception yet I go to make a call and it tells me no network coverage!
I thank the creator of this website for letting all of us voice our opionions to a point where someone may listen to us!
If something isn't done in the coming month I will no longer be a vodafone user.

I always get terrible reception outside- and inside reception ? non-existent.
I attempted to recharged apparently the service was 'out of order'- I was refered onto another Sales Rep- which I never got through to- considering the dial out was 30 minutes & then Vodafone disconnected me

using the internet on my iphone is painfully slow, i thought it was the fact that the recent updates on iphones was crap however, my friend whom was sitting next to me with a Telstra Iphone could go on the internet quickly and efficiently. we both had full service in the shopping center...
this is just not good enough from vodafone....

2158 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL! at 27 Dec 2010 11:54:08 AM
Been a vodafail customer for way to long, around 4 years.. My mates and i used to joke about how poor the reception was outside of sydney in coastal towns which was barely acceptable, now i lose reception in military road, sydney and everywhere else in sydney on a constant basis! Vodafail staff insist that it is the phone i'm using that is the cause of the poor reception, but surely through about 7 different phones, there optimistic denial can't be tolerated any longer. (Watching the cricket now, not even vodafone hotspot works!) After so many years of putting up with vodafail, enough is enough. I have been stupidly paying $99 per month on my contract to recieve dreadful coverage. Give us a fair go vodafail and stop sponsoring major events like the ashes so we have to be shown your infuriating sponsorship all day every day
2153 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible, just terrible at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:25 AM
I have had never ending issues with my vodafone MMS service. It takes hours for the MMS to be received and there are some people in my contacts list who i do not receive MMS from at all. I can literally be sitting next to the person and watch them send the MMS and never ever receive it. I have had the settings reset on my phone and my friends phone (who is also with vodafone)and when i speak with the 'helpdesk' they state all is fine and cannot explain the situation. I have emailed vodafone again and again and cannot get a reasonable response, all i get is a pro forma reply. Basically, im over it.

Get a life you losers and stop complaining!!!! If you think you can do better make your own company cheap idiots..
27 Dec 2010 11:54:23 AM: Ouch is that someone from Voda management??? I suspect so!
27 Dec 2010 11:57:05 AM: Wow, you sound angry. Something to do with these 'pesky' customers?
27 Dec 2010 11:58:17 AM: It is absolutely certain that this guy does not have a Vodaphone phone :-)
27 Dec 2010 12:00:16 PM: You have to love when the CEO jumps on here calling us losers lol
27 Dec 2010 12:01:01 PM: actually i hate vodafone but not as much as losers who complain like you lol
27 Dec 2010 12:07:12 PM: No you're just someone who likes to get on the bandwagon and voice your opinion where its not needed. You clearly have no idea whats going on cos if you did you would'nt be acting like a child. We have the right to complain if we are being ripped off and have the right to solutions being formed. If you have a problem with people voicing their opinions then you can set up your own website to do that. In the meantime maybe we will set up our own phone company, i think with all of us knowing how pathetic it can be we will know how to satisfy our customers. You can shut up and go buy a vodafone phone then see how tough you are.
27 Dec 2010 12:46:58 PM: There is panic at the FMT no doubt !!
2150 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally Useless Company at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:17 AM
NEVER had any reception at home!!! I can't receive, make calls or retrieve calls on my Vodafone mobile from my home. I either have to go down the end of the street or up into town to do any of the previously mentioned actions. Can send texts IF I wait long enough to get a signal, but often fails then also. Have been told on numerous occasions that new towers are being erected over the past 5 years but that is a load of hogswash. My niece works for Vodafone in Sydney and the rewards that they receive (overseas trips, dinners at top restaurants, grand Xmas parties etc)are fantastic. Maybe they should look after their customers as well as their employees. After my experience on 23/12/2010 though, I have now decided that it is time for me to look for another mobile company. Tried to send a message in Tweed Heads, which had full reception and received a SYS-ALERT and just thought that I had no texts left (I had over 90 only a couple of days before so this totally confused me). Sent a message for my account balance to find I had no credit at all. Proceeded to the Vodafone shop to find out that I had had $22 odd dollars worth of credit and my texts on 22/12/2010 but my credit was due to expire on 23/12/2010. This is the first time that I haven't been advised that my credit expiry date was getting close and advise to add credit. So they told me to call 1555 and ask for complaints which I did. After waiting ages for them to answer, I asked for complaints and was instantly disconnected. Did this again with the same response, so I guess it is time to give these loosers the flick and get on with the rest of my life.
2148 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:08 AM
vodafone allowed someone to order a phone using my details which only they had , i picked it up when the courier rang to confirm the delivery , i told them to cancel the delivery and return the phone to vodafone , 6 mths later and only with the intervention of the ombudsman are we close to resolving the issue ( they charge me monthly though the phone was never delivered or signed for ) they also point blank refused to assist the police with investigating the fraud which forced them to stop investigating , i assume this was to cover up the fact that their data securtiy is compromised or that an employee of theirs was running a scam or why else would they be so reluctant to clear up this matter ?? anyway i thought its a situation worth reporting to your readers
2147 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unknowable customer service at 27 Dec 2010 11:53:02 AM
i recently called vodafone to cancel my contact and asked them what the "exact procedure is for myself to do in order to cancel my contact. i also asked them what fees i would incur and under what user agreements are the fees applicable to in regards to my contract.
they told me they did not know and i would have to go into a retail vodafone store.
this kind of pathetic "Customer Service" is just ridiculous, its not JUST a retail stores responsibility to issue random vodafone customers with detailed information & queries. if this is the case the there is no need for vodafone 123 or any telephone customer service....
not happy...

2146 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Rubbish!!!! at 27 Dec 2010 11:52:43 AM
Had a 2 year contract mobile internet card for my laptop, the only place the thing ever semi-worked was at home!!! Constant dropouts and worse than dial-up speeds when it did actually connect. Customer service (which was obviously not in Australia) was pathetic, couldn't answer basic questions & they just transfer you or "accidentally" hang up on you!! (pretty much the same across all the phone companies though! When will these companies realise that cheaper is not always better when it comes to call centres! A nightmare trying to get a simple thing done to any service! You end up calling 5 times anyway!)
More importantly, coverage was useless! Was away a couple of times with friends with 4 other laptops and mobile internet & they all worked no problem with fast broadband speeds, I was sitting there still trying to connect!! Ended up using a local wifi hotspot instead (& still paid for Vodafone's rubbish !) Gone to Telstra now, costs a bit more & the customer service is just as bad (if not worse!) but at least the thing works!!

2145 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 11:52:38 AM
For five years we had our family business's six services with Vodafone, the coverage was never any good over our home office in 2035 or at parts of UNSW but the customer service we got as business customers was good. We recently had a change of account manager to the invisible man. Then I did a road trip to Byron Bay, up the New England Highway, back down the Pacific. As a test I bought pre-paid SIMs from Optus and Telstra and found, using thjree identical Nokia phones found both Optus and Telstra have good coverage in country towns and Byron Bay, but Vodafone coverage was atrocious. I contacted Vodafone many times over a six week period and CSRs kep promising 'someone will get back to me', of course they never did. We have now switched to Telstra.
2140 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:50:54 AM
Terrible coverage where I lived (even though it was inner Sydney!) and Vodafone refused to do anything about it for a number of years. Then they started charging my bill for services I had never asked for. After months of trying to resolve this I eventually started a TIO complaint. All improperly billed money was eventually refunded but Vodafone never addressed the fault in their billing system that caused the overcharging in the first place.
Not to mention the huge wait times to talk to customer service staff. These used to be regularly 45 minutes, and are still something like 10-15 mins. In comparison, Telstra have made huge strides recently to improve their customer service, with friendlier staff and zero wait time every time I have called them.
Ported out to Telstra in the end, and advising everyone I know to steer clear of Vodafone.

I live in Darlinghurst, NSW. I am unable to use the mobile broadband service offered by vodafone since moving to this suburb, but due to the contract, I am still liable to pay for a service that is non existent. I have to have a land line ADSL installed.
Some of my friends called me, but I never get their calls. It happened recently when I had an important appointment with a friend. I SMS him, he said, "I called you on your vodafone mobile, but there was no answer." but I was waiting for that call the whole morning.

2137 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is chronic at 27 Dec 2010 11:49:43 AM
When I purchased my iphone on a vodaphone plan I was assured the area I was moving to had reception snd checked the network coverage maps to confirm. when I moved though I dsicovered that I have hardly any signal at home and none at my place of work. I can't use the internet anywhere in the area! When I complained, I was told to document 3 times that my calls had been disconnected due to poor coverage. I did this easily and gave them details. I was later told via a message that they had checked and that coverage in my area was in fact fine and they were upgrading the towers in teh near future anyway. That was 12mths ago! If anything it is worse now that before - maybe they need to come and visit some of these places and see just how fine the coverage is! very frustrating and annoying when you're committed to a plan. I'm sure if I didn't uphold my end of the bargain, they'd be quick to do something about it!
2135 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is completely unacceptable at 27 Dec 2010 11:49:20 AM
I am a Aussie soldier who ported to a VF prepaid from Optus because of their competitive rates. I was then deployed on short notice overseas for over 6 months. Obviously couldn't use my phone overseas but wanted to keep the plan going as I didn't want to lose that telephone number.
Called up VF customer (non)service when I was overseas, explained my dilemma, was informed that I would have to keep charging up my credit every 3 months or I would lose the number irregardless of the fact that I was serving my country overseas.
When I tried to pay by credit card I was told that I was unable to do so because they couldn't verify my identity (required a 100 point check and they would not accept military ID or even a letter from my CO).
Returned home to find my number cancelled and the 50 dollars worth of credit I originally had gone. Signed up for Optus the next day and haven't looked back.

after i got my new iphone, it stopped getting service & i could not make any phone calls, i called vodafone for help and they went though some settings on my phone with me and then told me that i needed to take my phone into a vodafone to be sent away for repair. i told them that the sim card is my original one and that when i put it in other phones it says sim card registration failed. they insisted i needed to take my phone in for repair however seeming the sim card was failing in numerous phones i decided to go the a vodafone store and ask for a new sim card. once i put the new sim card in my phone worked again...

I was with Vodafone for years, it took like 4 hours for someone to get a MMS from me. No Reception bad Drop Outs. You think with their call centre in Egypt they could afford to improve their network! But NOPE! They go and buy another Telco "3" yet their own network is crap! I since changed to telstra you might pay a few $$ more but at least it works and their customer service is in Australia. BONUS!
27 Dec 2010 11:50:17 AM: True i once sent a PXT at like 10am, the receiver didn't get it till like 3am in the morning. Let's just say they weren't impressed.

and I'm ask them why dont you reply to my questions ? and the person's never even got it, am I still charged for this ?
27 Dec 2010 02:35:31 PM: It often takes me a day or two to send/recieve mms. My data speeds suck, even though I am within 2 km of the CBD. I get missed calls without ever ringing, i drop calls, i get patchy coverage. I'm a freelancer, so nothing is worse thatn a telco that doesnt do it right. I just want to swap to another carrier so i can use my phone. I pay $80 a month, and its not good enough. If i'd known about how bad it would have been, i wouldnt have signed up with vodafone.
27 Dec 2010 02:37:32 PM: Like the Tassie centre, Vodafone closed its Egyptian Call centre quite some time ago. My experience with the Egyptian centre was one of technical competence expertise and honesty.
All Vf Australia call centre is now in Mumbai[Bombay] India, where Vf has many regional service call centres. They operate 24/7 but Aust customers are restricted to 8 till 8. Why? Amongst all Indian Call centres, the Mumbai centre is rated the worst on all points by a country mile.

27 Dec 2010 02:56:43 PM: I was in the process of tryng to cancel my plan, when I was asked why - hey, I got no coverage in my home, no coverage in my suburb, random dropouts elsewhere. I was asked if I wanted to talk to the Techo's (in a distinctly indi-gangetic plain accent)to which I said, "No, I've had enough it isn't a technical problem with either my phone, home, suburb or me! I just want to cancel". This was after waiting some 20 mins in the queue. The response "That is nice sir, I'll just transfer you to the technical staff" followed by the equally inept "The operators are currently busy, please hold and we will transfer you to the first available representative". Aaaaargh! I guess there's a good reason they don't like to have a customer contact centre with customers face to face - they'd get the daylights punched out of them!!
Seriously this is not and hasn't been professional for sometime!!

My network speed is 0 even with full 3G reception. No point in having a contract with data if I can't even use the data. My messages can take up to 48 hours to be received by the person I am sending it too. My chances of making or receiving phone calls is pretty slim too as my number is always unavailable even if the phone is on with full reception. Oh and calling Vodafone results in a min 90 min wait! So much for a reliable telco anything they touch falls apart just look at our cricketers!!

I purchased a phone from Vodaphone a while back. This Mobile was terrible. It would not ring, would automatically go to message bank whilst people called- even in places with good reception and overall i was just unhappy with it.
I contact Vodaphone to tell them i no longer wanted in this contract, seeming the phone and service were terrible and its not what i am paying for. I told them i will still have the courtesy to remain loyal and if they could swap me another phone, i would remain a Vodaphone pre-paid customer.
They sent me from store, to the telephone, back to store, back to telephone. No one said they could help me and i was binded to this contract, hence enslaving me to pay for a rubbish phone and rubbish service.
THIS IS NOT ON!

After weeks of trying to contact Vodafone, in a split decision, I decided to swap networks to Telstra's next G network...best decision ever...
Everyone always bitches on about the poor customer services...but id rather have poor customer service that i never have to use rather then what ever Vodafone has to offer.
At present, I have made a complaint to Vodafone and the TIO explaining that due to their poor service I switched networks and am un willing to pay the exit fee of $402....(after paying $130 for 18 of 24 months !!!

2118 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total Failure! at 27 Dec 2010 11:44:57 AM
I have been a vodafone customer for many years and currently still have 1 year to go on my contract. Reception has been mostly good to ok until about 6 months ago where it went from ok to complete fail. When there is reception, calling a landline connects faster than calling another vodafone number. If an attempt to call fails, the time it takes to cancel the call causes my phone to stuff up until I go into flight mode and back out (or until I reboot the phone) to clear the cancelled call. Where there is no reception, I have to do the flight mode trick for the phone to attempt to connect to vodafone again. I have tested with sims from other carriers just in case it was my phone. Seems to work just fine with other sims.
I want to keep my mobile number but can't get out of my contract (without penalty) because I can't get hold of a vodafone support person. No reply via email. Going through formal complaints channel is taking too long. I want out now!

2101 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible Reception at 27 Dec 2010 11:42:03 AM
I have little or no reception at home - but at my place of work 10mins up the road - the service is fine. Internet speed is non-existant, during calls people always say they can't hear me but I have close to full reception. Until I turned off my messagebank service I always used to get voicemail messages without my phone even ringing or registering a missed call. I don't have a land line at home - I am on a Cap plan and shouldn't really need it - if I had deacent service!!!

I got charged $20 in excess in my past billing. Fed-up calling vodafone customer care close to 4 times and spending each time over 20 minutes with no one from customer care able to solve my issue. Every time after a long try somebody comes in the line and says their software is down and they cannot access my account and hence cannot provide any solution. Fed-up i thought wasting my time over 1 hour in total costed me much more than $20 that i was chasing up. Thanks to your initiate on starting something like this which really makes people like me who never go to the extend of filing a compliant officially (because of the stated reason)but to share my pain. Pl advise if anyways that i could support your initiative

I work for the Australian Defence Force and signed up with Vodafone 3 years ago. Anywhere outside of a major metropolitan area the reception just dies away into nothing. This is expected as I know they don't have the network coverage of Telstra or Optus. But I was smack bang in the middle of Canberra and was still getting 1 - 2 bars max (out of 5) as opposed to my friend who was getting 5 with Optus.

I have had countless emails (ok, I counted, about 10 replies), and two endless phonecalls which were bounced around, regarding the inability of the iphone they provided me with to receive MMSs
They suggested a number of times that it is not their problem, and that instead, I should contact the service providers of ALL my friends, and ask THEM why they aren't sending the MMS's through
Vodfone infuriates me
Also, of course, I have dropped calls, voicemails not received, and texts which don't go through.

We recently paid out my contract because of lack of service. We are in sydney and do not get reception. Although when we got the phone the salesperson said they checked and saw we had complete reception but if not then to bring it back in to cancel the contract. When we did so we were told that there was no one who would say such a thing etc etc. This is a real shame as i remember when i first got a mobile phone there only carrier who had reception at Newcastle uni was Vodaphone. There was also the usual problems with text and voice messages received days later including on efrom my child's daycare to say he had a nasty bump and i needed to pick him up asap - it was 24hrs later that the msg came through.

I have been a customer of Vodafone for 4 years and its ok but RECEPTION seems to be the issue whenever i want to make a call if im in a building. I end up going outside of the building.
Even if im anywhere its when wanting to make a call rather no reception or randomly my phone switches off!! Internet access should be faster, and if wanting to purchase a ringtone or games should be cheaper, for a game its like $7.95. sometimes download fails and i end up charged for it!! Its absolutely ridiculous.
VODAFONE IF YOU STILL WANT YOUR CUSTOMERS TO STAY WITH YOU, FIX THE PROBLEM!!

2058 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is words cant describe it at 27 Dec 2010 11:33:14 AM
i dont really know where to start, from there call center operators to there hopeless reception and data services, for over 3 months i have spent over 7 hours calling the call center up to get my data services fixed, first of all they said they will get back to me within 72 hours for the tech dept to see what the problems is, 4 days later i called back cause no one got back to me and they told me that someone cancelled the request WTF??? so i had to wait another 72 hours cause i told them to reopen the case, no one got back to me, i went overseas on 27/11/10- 2-12-12 and wanted to use roaming there so i called up 1555 but the guy didnt know what i was talking about and he couldnt help me and said he will call me back asap, but he didnt, so i made another call and the guy helped me, i came back to aust and no one has gotten back to me about the data service so i made another call(note that it takes around 30 mins to get through to someone) i wanted to cancell my contract cause i think they breached the contract by not providing me a service in my contract, so retention person told me she will give me 2 months free access, but i just wanted the data service to be fixed , she said she will call me the next day and tell me whats happening, and guess what !! no phone call, i waited a few days to see if i will get that call but no, so i made another call, waited 60 mins to get thru !!, so i get really angry and they advised me they can give me another 2 more free months acess 2+2=4 months, so i waited and waited till 2 days ago and made another call just to see what the outcome is with my data services and yet they dont recall giving me a total of 4 months free access only 2, so they tranfered me to someother dept and FINALLY someone from australia was on the other side and he made me wait 5 mins and saw that there was a total of 4 months and he told me that there was upgrades in your area, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHY MY DATA WASNT WORKING IT TOOK THEM THIS LONG TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER OF LIES AND MISLEADING INFORMATION and it took someone from australia to get the problem fixed

Extremely poor reception in the centre of Newcastle (Mostly one or two bars of reception and never full), very poor battery life on my new iPhone4, frequent call drop outs and data speeds that are slower than 1998 dial up internet. Thought i would even add that even driving past the Vodafone Towers in Chatswood i didn't even have full reception

Not on a plan just buy credits. But have copped drop-outs and my service not picking up "missed calls" for over the period with them...years!
We (4 family members) use this service and all have the same issues.
I thought friends had not contacted me (missed calls)and they have rang me at home saying they tried my mobile and couldn't get through? We believed because we were "regional" central coast nsw it was just par for the course?

Trying to access the internet is an absolute joke and very frustrating. I don't know why we should pay for such a crap service. Vodafone are not supplying the quality service they promise their customers. My brother who I live with also has a vodafone wireless dongle which is just as bad and i'm worried he's going to throw his new laptop at the wall out of frustration.

I've been with Vodafone for about 4 years and never had a problem till just about a year ago. It's been painful the last 3 months, where I don't receive calls or get delayed messages. 2014 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Service drops and slow Access at 27 Dec 2010 11:24:50 AM
I signed up to a 24month contract and it has been maybe about a year. I always thought it was normal in my area cause I was coming from 3. Which was the same honestly. The day change when my friend brought in a Optus HTC connected phone. I left 3 for the reason of service drops and slow access which varied ALOT. Looks like I will leave Vodafone for the exact same reason. Optus or Telstra here I come
27 Dec 2010 12:56:00 PM: Re "Optus or Telstra here I come" suggest you take a closer look into this.
I moved away from Voda years ago.
Telstra's Next G coverage wins hands down and I believe they wont let other networks use it for obvious reasons.
In Rural areas it wins hands down but be sure to get the Rural tick or whatever.

I know at least one person with every other network in my area and they all have full signal all the time, and then there is me with only one bar or no signal at all. The worst part of it is that i work a job where i have to keep my phone on me at all times, as i am on call 24/7, but just last week i almost lost my job for failing to answer a call and it wasn't the first time, all because the signal constantly drops out. I have tried to get out of my contract explaining that when i signed up, i was told my area would have full service, but it doesn't and they will not let me out of my contract unless i pay it all out. I'm sorry but i reall hate vodafone

Several times I have made a phone call on my phone, driven to another suburb and attempted to make another phone call only to have 'No Service' displayed across the top of my phone. I'm not talking from Maroubra to Bankstown, I'm talking Coogee to Bondi. In addition to this, I have to keep my phone on the 2G network because if I leave 3G switched on, I lose service. i ordered 15 iphones for all my employees, after 2 weeks we chucked all of em, and we are with another company
the cost wasnt much but it's a pain when u cant reach a group of 15 people.
when i think about it, i think the tecknology used by vodafone is still in the 90's. these new phones will fry vodafone's network sooner or later.
i suggest to vodafone to sell itself to telstra for cheap, cause if half ur customers are complaining, means the other half is on pre paid or just dont use their mobile like a pensioner or something like that.
as for customers, the only thing u'll get out of vodafone is all ur money back, vodafone wont be investigated, they will have the rug pulled from under em without them even noticing

My visual voicemail for iphone dropped out 6 months ago and was replaced with normal voicemail. Now I receive notice of voice messages upto 8 hours after message was left. Then the message states an incorrect date and time which the message was left. This on top of constant service dropouts. I can only access a 3G network for data around 40% of my time. I am almost totally now reliant on wifi for data.

Hi - I'm a Telstra customer and want to thank Vodafail. I've never had a issue with Telstra and coverage is always brilliant. However, times are tough and Telstra are more expensive than other networks which made me think about cheaper options. I've noticed lately that a now desperate Vodafone is saturating print media with bargain offers to join their network. If it wasn't for the great work Vodafail is doing, I would have been conned into joining Vodafone to take advantage of the cheap pricing. I'm not spruiking any particular network - just want to thank Vodafail.com for sparing me unending anguish, despair and extreme anger!

I have just read the article where a Vodafone refers fo poor network coverage for the last few weeks. This is completely inaccurate as the poor service has been going on for years. I was still charged for service I didn't receive and had to make several phonecalls to the customer service where I was given the run-around and told to switch the handset off and various other things that didn't work. I am now no longer with Vodafone for this reason.

I commenced a business contract with them 15months ago to expereicne poor reception in main suburbs of sydney, snail speed data and and plenty of droped calls - i think it was almost 50% of my calls that kept dropping.

Coles Supermarkets (Australia-wide) have started selling the Vodafone Prepaid Wireless starter packs, with USB dongles, for $24.50.
Obviously, Vodafone Marketing have been given a directive to flood the market, to offset any loses in current Vodafone customers who leave.
However, Virgin Mobile is now also selling Wireless Dongle starter packs for $24.95 at Coles.
So competition is good!

Does anyone share my irritation at Vodafone's brand slapping over the cricket?? How about you take some of the millions you're spending on sponsorship and actually put it somewhere that matters...I mean, how is it that I can work on the 28th floor of a Sydney CBD building and not have reception?? "Power to you" - what a load of bollocks!
1931 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is major at 27 Dec 2010 11:07:59 AM
I forgot to mention internet often doesn't work either, and when it does, it's ridiculously slow. I bought an ipad, but it's been a waste since I'm using vodaphone.
Oh, and while overseas I had major problems too - at one point my phone didn't work at all for 3 days. But still I had an $800 phone bill when I got back.

Everything I have with Vodafail has given me problems, from usb wireless internet which very rarely works and when it does it drops out continually to ordering an iphone and been told it would take 4 weeks but then received it 12 weeks later and then cannot make a call without a dropout or no signal.
Have tried calling customer service but unless you have 3 hours to spare and
speak Indian you will not get very far.......I could go on.

POor reception, and incredibly slow data transfer speeds.
Side by side with my friends optus iphone, illustrated just how poor the service has been. it was a good 35 seconds behind his phone when we clicked on the same site.
I have also had issues of not receiving text messages until a good 24 hrs after they were sent. I would and still get occasionally a whole block of texts ie 5 or 6 sms's in a row the next morning.
Im not happy at all with vodafone/3 at all...i cannot wait for my contract to be up...its optus or telstra from now on even if i have to pay a bit more!!!

The reception on my phone is always playing up and down and when i put my phone on a table or in my pocket some time i losse the signal.
The service is really bad i wish someone can do something about it, i am under a 2 years contract with the Vodafone and that is the only reason i am stil with them.

1924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HOPELESS at 27 Dec 2010 11:06:21 AM
Almost every day at some point I have "no service" for lengthy periods, until I switch my phone off and on again.
I have had people try to get hold of me and my phone is right beside me switched on but it doesn't ring. They leave a message, which I don't receive until 4 or more hours later.
I receive text messages often half an hour after they're sent (just now as I am writing this my partner has had to contact me via facebook because my phone is going straight to voicemail and his text still hasn't come through!)
I have calls drop out ALL the time, very rare I have a proper conversation without it dropping out at least once.
It takes ages for a call to connect, and often I just get 'call failed' and can't even send a text.
Very frustrating! As soon as my plan runs out I will be switching to Telstra. I don't care if they are more expensive - as long as it works!

1919 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not so bad where I am at 27 Dec 2010 11:05:22 AM
I use a Voda reseller for OS calls. Call service has never really been an issue at home. The tower is about 1 KM from me. On a recent trip to Victoria, the phone was basically a paperweight unless we were in a major regional area, while my Optus phone had coverage most of the time.

I have had drop outs on the Princess Highway between Heathcoat and Batemans Bay
I have DATA drop outs in the western Sydney train line
whilst in the train
between Central and Parramatta

27 Dec 2010 11:07:36 AM: Neither 3 nor Vodafone own eachother, the merge was a 50/50 deal. Both companies banded together rather then 1 company buying the other out.
The networks are still separate however the call centers are now located in the same building in Mumbai.

27 Dec 2010 12:36:13 PM: Actually there is only one small call centre in Mumbai, a small one in QLD and a small one on the NSW Central Coast. The largest 3/Vodafone call centre is in the Philipines. I know this, cos I was made redundant by Vodafone some 10 months ago, and was told extensively where and why. More than 500 Australians lost their jobs at my centre, with an unknown number at other Australian centres.
1912 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor reception everywhere and poor data coverage at 27 Dec 2010 11:03:09 AM
I live on the Central coast (of NSW) and cannot get consistent reception in my house, meaning I have to go outside to make calls and if its worse than usual even to send/receive text. Living in a densely populated area only an hour North of Sydney it would seem logical to have reasonable coverage but there are many No Service areas on the Coast. I do alot of commercial work in shopping centres etc and rarely have reception at work. I have been with Vodafone for 10 years but as I get older and have integrated smart phones and their technologies into my life it is becoming more apparent that Vodafone do not offer a comprehensive or suitable service.
1911 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely! at 27 Dec 2010 11:02:55 AM
I live in prestons NSW and I never get a decent Internet connection on my phone. It's either a fraction of a bar when 3G appears on the screen and 99% of the time it is the dodgy slow Edge network where I can barely navigate to any site. Also I'll be holding my phone in the same position and the a phone call will just disconnect a number of times and internet connection just keeps going and coming. I've seen the no network message thousands of times and NO vodafone I don't live in a cave. I will be in a suburban area close to the city where you expect a decent connection!

In central Sydney CBD, I cannot make or recieve calls at random times during the day. I know i'm not recieving calls because I get an sms from Vodafone saying I have anywhere for 1-7 new voice messages - best part is: I try to call voicemail and get call fail, connection error etc etc etc!!

1896 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I wish i knew at 27 Dec 2010 10:59:01 AM
I bought a prepaid broadband from vodafone, thought it was a good price compared to the rest, they DID advertise Broadband speed !! well if Broadband speed is 4 to 6 kbps a second youve got to be joking !! they tell you to check if coverage is in your area , I DID CHECK before i activated, trouble is they dont tell you that their coverage is SLOW !!!!!!!!! wankers i want my money back i cant afford to buy a dongle from another provider, i have sent 4 sms to them via their software requesting help but they have not answered. i went to their website to the support page and it was offline, Vodafone is just a scam thats all thats why they dont have a support shop its all online because there will b too many people lining up to slap them one. Go away Vodafone get out of australia you and your crappy service is not wanted or needed here, im telling everyone anyway NOT to choose them, i think if we all did this word will get around enough and they will disappear one day i hope.

1895 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ridiculously pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 10:58:55 AM
Besides all the issues everyone else is suffering (dropouts, slow data, delayed SMS,pathetic customer service, etc, etc, etc) the manufacturer of my so called "smart phone" released a software upgrade for the phone addressing a few of its many shortcomings several months ago but Vodafail is not releasing it for download. The only reason I can think of is: why make a customer more satisfied with his handset (with manufactures' faults) if you might be frustrated enough with it to prematurely buy another plan/phone from them?
