26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

12951 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is AGGGHHH! at 18 Jan 2011 07:04:09 PM
I'm with Vodafone's prepaid internet, which is definitely the worst decision I have made. While we wait for our house to be fully reconnected to broadband... with someone OTHER than Vodafone, thank god. The service is terrible, with terrible speeds, and constant disconnection. I am most annoyed when I download something, but while downloading, the internet drops out, killing the connection and download, meaning I have to restart the whole process, while my internet usage climbs and climbs. Whats sad is Im stupid enough to keep buying credit for it.

12932 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAILURE at 18 Jan 2011 02:29:49 PM
No Service, Repeated and numerous Dropped Calls, Unable to make calls or receive them even when phone indicates sufficient reception, people call but phone doesn't ring or even register a missed call and I only ascertain the missed call later when the phone indicates that a voice message exists, Text messages sent days before and not recived until days later and in one case I received a text message several months after it had been sent - though in that particular case I had actually received that text. It is an absolute disgrace!

12907 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Never Use Vodafone Again! at 18 Jan 2011 09:51:29 AM
I signed up for the first year half price plan. Get my first bill and charged full price. It took me the entire day to get through to their call centre. When i did get through they were really condescending telling me i didn't understand my bill. When i finally convinced them that i was being overcharged they transferred me to differing departments. When i asked one person why he was transferring me, he hung up on me. Eventually went in store (told to vodafone myself because they can't do it for me) when i refused and insisted they call on my behalf (and yes they do have a direct line for store staff members to contact there call centre - they admitted it after originally lying and saying they didn't). Still don't have my money back after my second bill, so have lodged formal complaint with the ombudsman, which i strongly recommend anyone with a problem with Vodafone to do so. The more formal complaints lodged, the more time, effort and money vodafone has to spent to sort it out it might just give them the desire to fix the problems rather than signing ppl to contracts and forgetting about them!
18 Jan 2011 07:31:04 PM: i work for vodafone and can assure you that i have to sit on the line for an hour to get through just like you. hence why we get the customer to do it because we have a job to do.
21 Jan 2011 08:12:00 AM: I signed up for the same thing. I went in store and was told yes the bill was incorrect so I said I would only pay half and got them to cancel my direct debiting. What do you know I payed half and still got the full amount debitted from my account. I then went in store again and someone else said the first bill was correct and half price thing doesnt kick in untill your second bill. I wanted a refund because I was misled into paying more. I arranged twice for a refund and it never went through. Got my second bill and the half price still wasn't showing up. If you read the terms and conditions of the half price deal it says it should be applied as a credit to you 1st month's bill to your 12th month bill. So it should have been applied straight away. The staff are completely unaware of the terms and conditions. I wish I had never signed up to vodafone, it's been 2 months and I am so dissatisfied and sick of having to go in store all the time. I can't get through to the call center, waiting on hold for an hour is not an option for me when I work full time.

12893 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is So bad at 18 Jan 2011 03:21:58 AM
Vodafone has become a complete joke. As a test tonight I sent my girlfriend a message (she was sitting next to me at the time), 18 minutes later she received it. She is also with Vodafone. It has reached the point now where I can no longer trust my messages are getting through to people. I am so glad I only have 2 months left on my contract and am in a position where I can best show my disgust at this unacceptable service by moving to another carrier that will at least deliver my messages in a timely fashion and not drop my calls. (hehe not too sure which carrier that is but they must be out there :) )
18 Jan 2011 10:50:42 AM: Optus are the same...
18 Jan 2011 01:56:21 PM: I use Virgin Mobile. (I have not had one issue yet), but I also said that with Vodaphone in the early days.
18 Jan 2011 05:15:53 PM: I am with Virgin Mobile. My text was delivered half an hour late (today - and that's for the one I know). Their mobile internet sux BIG time and their customer service is apalling! complete with heavy Indian accents and silence when no arguments are available. Forget Virgin Mobile...

12884 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Beyond Belief at 17 Jan 2011 08:14:31 PM
Due to not getting decent reception at my new house I decided to move from Optus to Vodafone (believe it or not, Vodafone has better reception). I had my contract with Optus revoked, and got a prepaid Vodafone sim card. My number was to be ported across Saturday, they said it may not go through until Monday (today) due to the weekend (fair enough). On Saturday night my friend tried to ring my number (which was SAVED into her phone) and a guy picked up. When she told me I rang my number from her phone, my phone did not ring - instead a guy picked up. It turns out Vodafone has allocated my number to another person as well. This has been going since Saturday night, no one has done anything despite going into my local Vodafone store 4 times/ringing them numerous times. No one will do anything!!!

iPhone 4 = Good Phone
iPhone 4 with vodafone = slow/ visual voicemail stoped working/ slow interenet
VODAWIN= Still better then telstra
17 Jan 2011 07:59:41 PM: Telstra = Best Coverage and performance in Australia (however usually the most expensive)

Optus (or any optus reseller) = Almost as good coverage, but browsing the net can be sluggish at times. Usually slightly cheaper than Telstra.

Vodafone (aka vodafaiiiiillll) = cheapest out there and for that cheap price you get a crap network, calls constantly dropping, sms/mms arriving days later, no coverage, poor security

You get what you pay for :)
17 Jan 2011 08:00:51 PM: Oh and the customer service of all 3 is pretty much on par with each other. Sometimes you get good quick help, others times it is pretty fail.

12854 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ?? very at 17 Jan 2011 05:35:37 PM
Switched to Vodafone mid December (from Telstra) after checking the coverage maps etc because I frequently travel to Broome and Dunsborough. Dealer says no problem those areas. On boxing day went to Dunsborough for 2 weeks. Phone immediately not usable even though 5 bar signal. No calls could be made or received for 5 days from my home in central Dunsborough. I assumed that the phone was faulty or the system corrupt, never dreamt it was just the coverage. Emailed and called the dealer, no reply. Now back in Perth and working OK, but realise it is totally poor company to deal with.

Also, 3G is not working, at all, it takes 10 minutes to load my facebook wall, it is ridiculous. I am sick to death of Vodafone.

12835 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Rude and offensive at 17 Jan 2011 02:00:21 PM
Vodafail took 26 days for a human to reply to my email. 3 hours for a human to answer my phone call. I signed up to Twitter as it seemed to be the most effective way to get answers to simple questions. How absurd that I am forced to communicate in 140 characters with a company that owns a mobile network. When I finally spoke to a human and I asked about the security breach they told me it was a rumour spread by competing companies. Days later Vodafone fire staff over the breach. So exactly who is it that is spreading rumours about competitors? Vodafail management appear to be compulsive liars.

12834 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Extremely frustrating at 17 Jan 2011 01:51:59 PM
I have a constant problem with trying to call my husband (who is also on Vodafone), it constantly tells me his phone is "unavailable" (which I have confirmed that it wasn't off or out of range) I have to try several times before it will finally ring through. This is really a problem when he is out at night alone or if I need him urgently for business/health issues and I cannot get hold of him sometimes for hours (if at all)...We have mobiles for piece of mind, so we know we can stay in contact with our loved ones...however Vodafone just causes me anxiety...
I have people telling me the same problem..."I tried to call you but your phone was off" ...funny when I don't turn my phone off and barely go anywhere there shouldn't be signal!!

Can handle it every now and then but getting very annoying that it happens on most phone calls over say 4 minutes.

I was unsure whether my payment had gone through or not, so I called the help like, where i got the automated Lara. 12752 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is MEGA FAIL at 16 Jan 2011 12:26:57 PM
after a litany of failures from these pommy clowns - i decided to sell my soul to the devil and return to where it all began, telstra.

been 26 hrs since porting procedure commenced and telstra still haven't heard from those useless pommy clowns.

telstra tell me it could take days for them to respond to the porting request.

vindictive jerks - cant wait to see the back of these a-holes.
16 Jan 2011 12:46:04 PM: From experience porting is qucikest on business days Ports arranged on a Saturday and Sunday seem to be delayed until the next business day being natually Monday. So from my experience you should be ported by midday Monday.
16 Jan 2011 01:17:45 PM: a mate ported at jb hifi last week - by the time he left the store 25 mins later, his account was online.

i don't think i'm being overly critical here - even a delay of 24hrs for a procedure done entirely electronically - is gobsmackingly ridiculous.

business days = 7 days a week for most of us.

vodafone = typical eurotrash incompetence.
16 Jan 2011 01:20:42 PM: oh - he ported on a saturday.
16 Jan 2011 01:21:26 PM: Porting a number to another carrier can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours.

If it hasn't been ported within 48 hours, just contact Telstra again :)
16 Jan 2011 01:23:56 PM: Porting it handled by an external company that deals with all networks. Neither Voda nor Telstra's fault. Chances are you've provided incorrect details.

BUT...This morning I went to Kalgoorlie with my sister (Optus) and she had FULL reception all the way. I had about 5 minutes, half way there.
Vodafone, is quick to send a bill every month (which I understand, am under contract) Not fair when can't even use the phone half the time... Want to change carriers? Can I, even if under contract?

12673 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 14 Jan 2011 09:36:59 PM
If you live south of Perth near Baldivis, don't even bother going with Vodafone. my wife was told that the lack of reception was due to an old phone, upgraded to an iPhone. She still has no reception, I am with another service provider and full bars. Went back to Vodafone and the first question do you have a tin roof? Yes! Thats the problem. LIARS!
15 Jan 2011 12:43:24 PM: I live in Baldivis and have recently changed to Vodafone with an iPhone4 and have no problems at all with reception, calls, txts etc. My experience with Vodafone has been great. Have a colourbond roof also. Why a some people having problems and others are not?
16 Jan 2011 01:25:44 PM: maybe you dont live in baldivis ?
16 Jan 2011 04:21:21 PM: yeah good comment - I know where I live, maybe you just want a new phone?
16 Jan 2011 10:05:32 PM: no. I am in baldivis aswell.

I get terrible reception on ALL carriers except telstra.
Still vodafone is the worst out of all of them. No 3G, no 2G

Optus atleast has full bars 2G at the house which'll do. It's in one of the new areas so i'm sure a new tower will be put in soon.

14 Jan 2011 06:28:15 PM: Vodafail are supposed to contact you within the time specified by the TIO, currently 10 working days.

If they do not contact you then you go back to the TIO and tell them using your reference number, they then (I believe) give Vodafail a gentle reminder.

Poor coverage, drop outs, incorrect billing, delayed text messages that are sent and received, absolutely shocking customer service if you can term it service. It caused me an argument with my ex boyfriend, he claimed he was ringing me, I didn't get any missed calls, he said he was sending me messages that I did not receive, we argued over whose phone was at fault. But it had nothing to do with our phones, it was the dysfunctional network!!

12631 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Open your eyes at 14 Jan 2011 02:09:18 PM
People have to realise that all netwoks have this problem at different times as I have been with pretty much every one of them. Within the last year or 2 the Telstra service was down for over 48 hours which no one seems to remember and it has been a long standing agreement within consumers that telstras deplorable customer service takes the cake.

It's all well and good to complain to these telco giants but all consumers must bear in mind the cost of VF hiring more staff to handle this, the cost of law suits and the cost of all this bad PR will only be handed back to consumers. You can be sure that if the outcome
of all this is that VF/3 mobile goes under that it's 2 main competitors: telstra and optus will increase their prices dramatically.. Simple business 101 people..
14 Jan 2011 02:44:06 PM: The example you give is only 48 hours. People have been posting their issues here since Vodafail opened. People have had issues with Vodafone for ages, Whirlpool forums has volumes of discussion about this dating back to even 2 years. It's been a few months and the issue keep piling. Nothing has changed. Thats the difference between Telstra and Vodafone. Telstra actually gets the job done in days. For Vodafone its been months and still going. Seriously. As for prices, I don't think Telstra or Optus would raise their prices, since they are already taking advantage of Vodafail and having the time of their life gaing market share.
14 Jan 2011 02:47:10 PM: Our eyes are open. However, Vodafone's eyes has been shut ever since.
14 Jan 2011 04:17:41 PM: 48 hours wow! try having no service for like 6 months, welcome to vodafone
14 Jan 2011 10:19:09 PM: Vodafone have shitloads of money that is why this problem exists, the tightarses havent spent appropriately on upgrading the infrastructure, they will wether this storm, it is hurting them, they have got egg on their faces, but they have got more than enough to ride this out.
16 Jan 2011 01:23:29 PM: rofl - my vf account was offline for 5 days straight !!

Can anyone tell me how to activate the call back option when you ring customer service? I don't want to spend the next hour of my life on hold!
14 Jan 2011 02:29:37 PM: Well unfortunately Vodafone doesn't realise that 'time is of essence'. Just another hour to waste that you will never ever get back all because Vodafone loves to put people on hold for years if they could. Just continue on with your life while your on hold. They'll get back to you in 2012.

I changed from 3 to vodafone recently - you would think the service would be the same seeing as they have joined forces BUT NO! 14 Jan 2011 10:29:39 AM: I was on 3 in the Perth metro area. My calls were being dropped and voicemails were being lost during 2010. The advice was to swap to Vodafone and in between swapping between 3 consultants in India I found out that Vodafone doesn't even have a tower covering my home address. And after an unexplained error that resulted in the 8 hour disconnection of my phone, I contacted the TIO. Four days later I was released from contract 3 months early and promptly signed up to a new Telstra Cap plan. Never had a problem since.

Only days ago we both heard a disconnection noise like someone was listening in then hang up. As this hanging up noise was heard be were both disconnected from each other...weird!

12487 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Shocking, Complete FAIL at 13 Jan 2011 02:33:01 PM
14 Jan 2011 07:35:43 AM: I believe you. Whether these anomalies are due to a hacker or Vodafone's incompetence, the responsibility ultimately lies with Vodafone.

On querying my latest account with a Vodafone store person, who did try to help and rang accounts several times as he was cutoff also. In the end they said they would investigate. I got a paper copy of the account as they view it from him.

It clearly shows a large chunk ~$460 [he scratched out the line]being taken out of my usage amount 23 November 2010. So if I managed to check my usage on that day I would have thought I had 2G left. THEN THEY ADDED IT BACK! and I ended up with a charge of excess usage.

When they switched from the paper accounts which clearly showed their stupid accounting system to ebilling, payments I had made for excess usage etc, were not transferred over. Hence they still reckon I owe this. Only the regular monthly payments were credited.

However, they are not alone. When I bought a new phone, and transferred credit to it, Virgin tried to charge me for money owed, when they were PREPAID ACCOUNTS!

FOR GOD'S SAKE I WISH THESE SO CALLED 'ISPS' WOULD HIRE AN ACCOUNTANT TO DESIGN THEIR BILLING SYSTEMS AND USE DOUBLE ENTRY ACCOUNTING!!!

21 Jan 2011 01:43:33 PM: many times I had issues with my 3G internet bill - overcharges. I could not solve this issue with Vodafone customer care - they always told me that is my responsibility to watch my consumption, even when I explained them that their data meter is wrong - 2 up to 5 days behind. So, always call TIO, even before Vodafone - and you will get the money back and settle the conflict fast. Don't waste your time calling Vodafone without having a TIO claim number.

12412 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very Bad billing at 13 Jan 2011 08:21:21 AM
Without any prior notice I received a final demand from a Debt collection agency. After one hour in store I found out a Vodafone employee in India had incorrectly renewed my contract. Very annoyed they hadn't sent an account to me before sending account to debt collector. Vodafone cannot explain why the action was taken.
14 Jan 2011 03:49:07 PM: God knows where they source their Indian staff. Bet their are not any accountants, bookkeepers, or technically qualified among them.
14 Jan 2011 03:51:11 PM: I suspect the merger with '3' has something to do with this also. I was so disgusted with '3's accounting practices I switched to Vodafone, but now '3' and Vodafone are one and appear to be implementing all the worst aspects of the way '3' did business.

I waited on hold for an hour and 10 mins before vodafail hanging up on me. I then ring back again wait for another 58 minutes, to finally get through to someone who spoke over the top of me, told me I was not listening and would not understand. Once I had finally got through to him to tell me exactly what was wrong, he said that yes they had been over billing me because my phone was not sending text messages properly so were sending more than once so I went over my cap....

So how is this MY fault?

Then i explain i am not receiving texts or phone calls - his response "yes well i have given you back that credit. - REALLY?! what about the calls and texts?

Not only was i on hold to wait for the "great" customer service but i also had to listen to them promoting their non-exsistant "great" plans and deals!

Purchased 4 phones Nov/Dec ...have not had reception, contacted Vodafone, suggested it maybe Handset issues, changed handsets for new ones, no difference. Can't get reception even though there map shows good coverage, which obviously means nothing at all. Constant.goes off and switches to emergency calls only....and I get constant .....message unable to send. Cannot make voice calls inside my house, or even outside really, connection drops out constantly, my husband sends me a message to pick him up from work as we car share....hours later like six or seven hours later I get the messsged. Drop outs occur all the time. This is total breach of Vodafail contract and I want out of my contract which is less than did weeks old . Absolute rubbish service.

I emailed Vodafone on 27th Dec. STILL have had no reply. Before this and during this time I have called maybe 20- 30 times. I have been told I would get a call back, never happened, been on hold for over 1 hour several times, been told they have technical difficulties, been told to hang in there etc etc... The complaints were for things such as no service, messages taking days to send, calls not connecting, calls hanging up after 20 seconds, problems in which both me and my partner were having. Every complaint we had made either via email, phone or at the store has included both of us. He emails them yesterday and already got a reply (yet they can't reply to me?) saying he has never tried to contact them before so the contract will not be broken.... In the email he sent he referred them to our original complaint email (and the 10 or so after that) and the calls he had made yet they would not budge saying he hasn't contacted them. Not only was the email rude they did not even offer any answers as to why we have these problems or how to fix them! After calling again today and being told 3 times they have technical problems we really don't know what to do!
12 Jan 2011 06:42:47 PM: Check out the how to complain link at the top of the page, Escalate the issue to the TIO and they should be able to get you out of your contract. Then sign up with a decent Telco. Best of luck and let us know how you go.

I've already posted regarding my years worth of trouble with vodafone, including a recent incident overseas where i tried having my phone unlocked and was lied to with regard to the instructions just to get me off the phone with them, which resulted in me using my holiday time sitting in a london vodafone store on hold waiting for someone else to 'help', if thats what you can call it. At the same time i'd asked for my phone contract to be put on hold whilst i'm overseas coz obviously, i wont be using my aussie number - i told them this about 5 times and asked them to assure me that the phone would be put on hold. WOuldnt you know it, i check my bank statement and they've charged me the full months fee rather than the $11 or so monthly 'suspend' fee they said they would. HOW STUPID DO THEY THINK WE ARE???

I have been with vodafone for nearly 4 years and have not had a problem up until about the last 6 months. reception is so bad that that it sits on 1 or reception bars. my girlfriend tries to call, she gets frustrated and gives up. she believes she get through to my phone on like the 6th call. and finally when she does get through it hangs up, so in the end we have to call each other 4-5 times just to talk for 5 minutes. i have missed work calls and have had to use email now, which makes it much more time consuming. i've really had enough, im soo happy that my contract finishes in 8 days and i can tell u what im not going back to vodafone even if they offered me a year free. not even they gave me the opportunity to meet david beckham.

12166 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is poor reception at 11 Jan 2011 09:25:57 PM
I bought a new vodafone phone for my daughter to use after checking the vodafone website to see that Albany in WA has reception. We found there was no recption from our home and pretty much everywhere except the centre of town even though we are situated in what is considered the middle of the city. After numerous calls to vodafone to get an unlocking code so we could at least use the phone with another provider we were told it costs $25 to do it online plus an extra $50 because the phone is less than 6 months old. I was quite prepared to pay the $25 but not the $50 as it wasn't my fault we couldnt use the phone. Every time I spoke to someone about the issue they told me they couldnt help me but would refer me to their supervisor who would contact me. I told them not to call the vodafone number as we get no reception and as a consequence our credit also expired as we couldnt use it in time before it expired. Receiving messages is the same problem as we had no credit to retrieve them. They never replied and so I had to keep ringing them and telling the same story to someone new with the same result - I'll get someone to call you. It wasnt until I threatened in an email to report them to the TIO that I was sent an unlocking code which did not work and so I had to continue making calls until I set a time limit on contacting the TIO. That is when I at last got someone sensible on the phone who told me that obviously I needed a new unlocking code and that when she receives it she will call me on my other mobile and walk me through the unlocking process with the code. It finally worked and we havent looked back. I will never use vodafone again and have also told anyone who will listen in Albany that vodafone has no reception here so DO NOT BUY VODAFONE.
Now there is this problem of leaked personal info - I wonder about identity theft and who knows what transactions on my credit card. Where does this leave us???
12 Jan 2011 12:37:59 AM: The latest news is that all bank and credit card information is encrypted, even for staff members, so you should be fine there.
12 Jan 2011 05:00:54 AM: Locking is so that you can get the handset so cheap usually. The unlocking fee is to recover losses and would have been sold to you as such. Sometimes due to manufacturer not supplying the correct codes or the customer not being able to read unlocking instructions properly there are difficulties in unlocking. The instructions to unlock it online are on the box when you buy it. I'm glad you finally managed to do it. Who was really at fault in your unlocking drama? You wanted a discount and weren't prepared to put effort in to get it.
12 Jan 2011 07:44:49 AM: Err - whilst your bank and CC info might be safe - the information useful to identity theives such as DOB, address, drivers licence number are probably there for the taking
12 Jan 2011 09:52:07 AM: A local reseller "ALL Phones" uses a laptop to connect to vodafone, this is in FULL view of all passing people as the store is a counter in the middle of a shopping mall, not only insecure but not private, and the stupid message on 1555 about be assured.... secure login and password.... get real, your caught with your trousers down, deal with it and be honest for once... I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues .. until now! If I complained about everything wrong with Vodafone these days I would be here all day - so I will go with the biggest issue - their phone coverage!!

Not receiving a text message all day, but then receiving a whole bunch at once. Text messages I send never seem to make it to the recipient, even though they are in my sent items. Incoming and outgoing calls are always extremely crackly and most of the time, end up cutting out. In the times that they dont, they may as well, as voices cut in and out its impossible to hold a conversation. The Internet is painfully slow also. Customer Care is also a joke - with the bad reception along with the lack of english those calls are more frustrating than helpful ...

The final straw for me was when it took me two and a half days to retrieve a voivemail letting me know that a good friend had passed away.

FAIL!!

Maybe the operators would be able to take your calls if everyone stopped complaining to the tio, tio complaints take operators away from their original roles in customer service...
11 Jan 2011 06:06:50 PM: Or have enough staff to cope with demand, retarded statement.
11 Jan 2011 06:07:58 PM: Pretty sure Vodafone have a dedicated TIO complaint dept, but even if you are correct, if Vodafone Operators would allow customers out of their contracts penalty free without the need for TIO intervention (due to the poor service, lacklustre coverage, continual dropped calls, sms/mms arriving days later, poor security and I am sure a handful of other reasons) then I am sure customers would deal directly with the operators and not the TIO. However it seems the TIO is the only one that is able to make Vodafone do that. Food for thought :)
11 Jan 2011 06:41:42 PM: There are staff in Mumbai pulling 6 day weeks of more then 10 hours to take your inane little calls about inconsequential stuff. Also you only ring the TIO when you don't get the answer you want. Vodafone only says no if your request is groundless surely. I've had nothing but great interactions with care up to and including fixing giant bills and helping with cancellations. Give em a try and if it's a no answer it's usually for good reason.
11 Jan 2011 07:48:53 PM: @ Jan 2011 08:41:42 PM: Who are you to judge whether the calls made to 1555 are inane little calls about inconsequential stuff. ?? Seems a little arrogant!!!!
12 Jan 2011 12:37:26 AM: we wouldnt be calling if we didnt think their was a problem.. and as for the mumbai staff working extensive hours, isnt that their choice to work those long hours? if not, are you doing them aswell to try and solve the dillema rather than adding to it? I for one rely heavily on my phone atm, as i am due to have a baby, no signal - how can i call anyone?? i needed this problem fixed yesterday..
12 Jan 2011 05:22:44 AM: most calls are.
12 Jan 2011 07:55:22 AM: I'm beginning to wonder if one of the posters here isn't someone from Piper Alderman just trying to inflame the situation, because surely a real Vodafone employee wouldn't show himself to be such an @sshole on this site. Create a page for Vodafone employees to let it all hang out- tell us what you really think of customers.Make it a site where you have to log on with the "secret" Vodafone password :-)
13 Jan 2011 07:45:39 PM: Nah just trying to play devil's advocate and show the other side. Might make you pause for thought. You know as you reach for the phone to whinge about that one dropped call you had once and use it as your leverage to get out of the contract you signed. Time waster. Let people with real issues call.

12100 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is It fails with coverage, security and I believe I have been ripped off at times with my prepaid credit. at 11 Jan 2011 03:55:50 PM
I'm not in any mess but as stated above I have not been happy with Vodafone's coverage that goes out for days at a time, delays in text messages coming through and being sent and at times I have really felt as if I have been ripped off with my phone credit. I will text through my balance and I might have $4.00 left for example, will send one text and then I am out of balance! There have been many times when I was certain that I could not have used so much phone credit as has been registered. Once when coverage was out for a few days, my phone would connect, then cut off, I'd have to ring back again and again for the same thing to happen. My family who were on Vodafone had the same connection problems as had some of my friends. I rang up to complain at the time, people said they would return my calls when I actually got cut off to them as well but no one would get back to me. So I had to ring again and again to get my complaint heard. The call centre is obviously overseas. Either that or they have people working for them who do not have a very good command over English, judging by their communication standards. And the irony is that it is a communications network!!!

12088 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is New low at 11 Jan 2011 03:14:34 PM
I called Vodafone on Thursday morning to talk to someone about cancelling my account, the first time the signal cut out just as it connected! And I'm using 2G not 3G as it simply doesn't work in WA. Anyway, 2nd time I got through and was told that the cancellation department was busy but that she'd fill out a form and get someone to call me back in 24-48 hours. Well it's now Tuesday afternoon and still nothing, so I tried calling them, got all the way through to putting my pin in and a recorded message says "there has been a technical error, please hang up and try again" well I did try again but got the same thing even though I selected a different option. The stores say they can't do anything, so I'm left with no options!

I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues either, but mine are minor compared to some of the stories i have read.
To those that say, "cheapskates, u get what u pay for", i am paying the same amount as my partner and get less call value for it, so how is that being cheap?
I emailed to tech support about the few coverage issues less than 2 weeks ago, and altho i missed the call, they have contacted me back to try and sort something out. I have also changed handset in the last week which has helped alot, so maybe most of mine were due to my fone. Dont know.
Good luck to everyone with problems, and i hope u get urs sorted asap
12 Jan 2011 08:00:09 PM: Soo.. if your not saving money (being cheap).. why did you choose the smallest, slowest network?

I have lost all reception. I called their support line from my landline. After choosing support and entering my mobile number I get a message "Looks like we've had a technical problem. You'll need to hang up and try again." and then the phone hangs up. Tried twice with the same result.

11973 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is EXTREME FAIL at 11 Jan 2011 10:13:08 AM
I range vodafone the other day to request an upgrade and i was speaking to an Indian call centre employee who i couldnt understand. I caught something about them saying that it was not the right area even though i followed the pormpts and then they hung up on me. The whole reason i left # was to avoid speaking to indian call centres casue they are not in the loop and now vodafail has them! I am definately going to leave as soon as i can get through to them.

Just tried calling again and they said that they are having technical difficulties and i will have to call back!

From the How to Complain page it states for Vodafone Customer Service:

"When you call, you have the option of Vodafone calling you back when they get to your call."

Not today, there is just a message of there being a technical fault. How is it possible to complain when their internal systems are broken?

11939 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Bad and getting worse at 11 Jan 2011 09:18:02 AM
Unable to connect from home in Perth's northern suburbs more than half the time since 17 December.

Trying to call "Customer Care" from a land line, as my mobile won't connect, results in an extensive navigation of 'Lara' and then a message telling me there is a technical problem, and that I should hang up and try again.

No kidding.

Why am I paying $49/month for a shoddy unreliable service?

11853 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Fail at 10 Jan 2011 08:39:35 PM
Vodafail took money out of my account when they weren't supposed to. When I finally got hold of a staff member they admitted it was their mistake and to get my financial institution to reverse the debit from my account. This didn't make sense to me but I jumped through the hoops - not surprisingly my bank said it was Vodafail's responsibility to get the money back into my account. I called Vodafail back and was told money would be put back in but it would take 5 business days. Even after I said my mortgage comes out of the same account that week and needed that money they said nothing could be done about this but they could give me text credit!! Am taking it further but seriously can't believe the drama. And I have the other problems of calls dropping out, slow or no web access and hours waiting for a staff member to call back. I want out Vodafail!!

we have been with vodafone for a very long time! my husband was going to leave the company and go to Telstra, because of the coverage issue. He was told within several months vodafone woul have coverage everwhere in Australia, and was offered a $10 month discount! He is still on the same plan, so am i, but we cant even get coverage in our home, except for a tiny area in the dining room. The calls are always dropping out and reception shocking at times. could you tell me where we stand with my contract. Were on a $29 month contract each and not happy! Please can you advise us if we can get out of the contract! Thank you very much! Pam.
10 Jan 2011 08:05:11 PM: Hello Pam, you should have no dramas at all. Firstly try and escalate the issue through Vodafone, explain the problems and that you are not happy with the lack of service you are receiving. If they are unable to help you, escalte your issue to the TIO. The link at the top of the page titled 'How To Complain' contains a link to the TIO.

Best of luck, and let us know how you go.

11837 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is delayed sms at 10 Jan 2011 07:35:20 PM
arrrrgh, getting so sick of the delayed sms's!! and the most annoying part is i can simply just make a phone call or send another text to prompt them to come through.. seems kind of stupid to me! shouldn't they just automatically come through :(
10 Jan 2011 11:33:04 PM: The symptoms you describe are common and relate to the phone handset and the network failing to maintain contact with each other. Your handset generally stays in contact with multiple cells and they cells track your phone so they know the best cell to route your calls/sms/data through. It would seem that your reception is so poor that the network loses track of you and doesn't know where to route the traffic until you make a call and tell the network where you are. When you hang up the backlog of undelivered email and SMS are delivered.
In my technical opinion this is clearly related to poor coverage and poor network management.
11 Jan 2011 05:53:39 PM: either way all these problems are because vodafone's nextwork sucks! go with optus or telstra. i just changed to optus and i'm never looking back. GOODBYE VODAFAIL!

In January last year I signed a contract with vodafone for the iphone 3 on a $49.00 per month contract with insurance for theft, loss etc, as per the sales clerk in the vf store - or so I was lead to believe. In July last year my phone was stolen from my parents house and when I went to arrange a new phone was told my contract did not have insurance included, the sales clerk should not have told me it was and there is nothing they can do except shut the phone down and give me a new sim card, oh but I can get another contract for the same phone if I wanted to - pay 2 contracts for 1 phone???? I chose nt to get cuaght in another contract and now I'm lucky to be able to make a call off the new sim card due to reception issues, line cuts out, no service etc. All I want is out of this contract with no penalties against my credit history and to NEVER have to give vodafone another cent EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Customer service provides me with no response to this request other than "you can end your contract in January 2012", um, that's when the contract ends, very cleaver voda-ripp, not happy at all.
10 Jan 2011 04:08:55 PM: Insurance is $9.95 a month, did you ever pay for it?. They will not cancel your contract unless you return your handset. Or you will have to pay a cancellation fee.

11746 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Not at all at 10 Jan 2011 02:22:21 PM
I don't have any issues with Vodafone, having been with them since 2003.

I use Nokia phones (private and business), not iPhones (which also causes problems), and have full signal, wherever I go.

Some people want the world, for a good price. Want better? Go pay more cheapskates.
10 Jan 2011 02:35:53 PM: With all possible respect, I'm happy you're not experiencing the issues so many of us are. However, just because you're not having issues means you're lucky. I'm currently paying $100 per month for my mobile service, not exactly 'cheap' when I can get the similar or better value with a more reliable service from Optus or Telstra.

There are too many people using the network, because they didn't think ahead about the consequences of loading up customers on a network that couldn't cope.
10 Jan 2011 02:37:04 PM: Look Tosser - people are not asking for 'the world', they are asking for decent reception and to be able to rely on their phones to work for them when they need them. That is not too much to ask.
10 Jan 2011 03:00:54 PM: You expect so much as a customer it is true, customers are sh*t... telstra $129 a month for unlimited calls, awesome reception!
Vodafone $45 a month for unlimited calls, reception drop outs, (dont have a stupid iPhone)
10 Jan 2011 03:17:12 PM: Agree. I have no issues either and I have an iphone and live 60km from the city. Vodafone are fantastic. As far as the person who wrote the "look tosser" comment - no wonder you have issues. Not necessary, as with every company in existence, there are good and bad experiences and people who are having good experiences with Vodafone should mention these also.
10 Jan 2011 03:25:51 PM: Can you please keep the name calling down?? Please debate in a nice constructive fashion or your posts will be moderated. Thanks Vodadfail.com mod
11 Jan 2011 09:23:51 AM: It's great that some people are fine with Vodafone. I was happy for 6 months after moving from Three, then in mid December the service went to hell.

Release me from the contract as Vodafone are failing to meet their obligations and I shall move network happily. I am not happy paying for a hit and miss service that has resulted in my missing important family messages, and failing to pick up work related calls.
11 Jan 2011 02:47:08 PM: Wanting a predictable connection with a network is not 'asking the world'. If a connection is advertised at a 'good price', it should be delivered. Also, getting the best value for your money does not equal 'cheapskate'. Why would a consumer pay more for a service than they have to, if there are no apparent differences at the point of sale?

11741 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 10 Jan 2011 01:49:43 PM
The amount of time I have wasted dealing with Vodafone is unbelievable, we are talking maybe 5-7 hrs of being on hold and dealing with terrible service from the staff members. After 2 months of calls failing to go through, falling out etc they finally lodged an investigation and stated it would be resolved in 72 hrs. Math isn't a strong point for Vodafone staff members, and then on Monday I call and it took 40 mins (finally spoke to a Supervisor)who stated that he was really sorry but the investigation won't be completed till Wednesday now. They promised it would be completed and resolved by the Monday. My wife was lucky and managed to be released from her contract but I'm still holding my breath.
It's an absolute disgrace, I can't make or receive calls in a major shopping centre 13km from the city!!! I hope the company goes bust.
